- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, how you doing? This is Freddy Rodriguez. And this
- 0:14Speaker 1: is Wilmer Valderrama. Welcome to Dos Amigos here on Maya
- 0:18Speaker 1: Cultura Podcast Network. Also everywhere. You get your podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Everywhere.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Man, I haven't seen you in, what, like a month
- 0:26Speaker 1: and a half, two months maybe? Two months, man. Two months.
- 0:28Speaker 1: This is not okay. You don't miss me nothing. I
- 0:32Speaker 1: don't get a, hey, what's up? In my defense, I
- 0:35Speaker 1: saw you in London. I saw you at La Casita
- 0:38Speaker 1: in London and the O Arena. And I saw you,
- 0:42Speaker 1: you know, out there. You know, whatchamacallit. You were fist
- 0:45Speaker 1: pumping in Ibiza. I don't know. It's crazy.
- 0:48Speaker 2: It's been an eventful.
- 0:49Speaker 1: And I didn't want to bring you back home.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I see.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I wanted you to live in your adventure. Because if
- 0:56Speaker 1: I hit you, I will remind you of too much.
- 0:58Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:01Speaker 1: No, it was awesome. How was London, dude? London was.
- 1:04Speaker 3: It was incredible. You know what the most incredible part is?
- 1:06Speaker 3: That I went to go see a Bad Bunny concert.
- 1:09Speaker 3: And to see.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Bad Bunny, Bad Bunny! B.I.B.
- 1:13Speaker 4: B.I.B.
- 1:13Speaker 5: B.I.B.
- 1:14Speaker 3: B.I.B.
- 1:14Speaker 5: B.I.B.
- 1:18Speaker 3: To see our culture in London, and what I mean
- 1:21Speaker 3: by our culture, I mean Latino culture. I don't mean
- 1:23Speaker 3: just Puerto Rican culture. To see it that prevalent out
- 1:28Speaker 3: there and to see people from London knowing every word
- 1:33Speaker 3: of his song was incredibly eye-opening.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It's what Latin music does. Latin music is this.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Transcend culture.
- 1:40Speaker 1: It's this vessel. It's this vessel of who we are
- 1:42Speaker 1: and that rhythm, that- That music, that storytelling, all that
- 1:48Speaker 1: stuff transcends everywhere, you know? That's really, really cool.
- 1:51Speaker 2: What about you, man? How was your summer so far?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Summer was great. I went to Colombia.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: You know, my dad is staying in Bogota for a
- 2:00Speaker 1: little while, so I got to visit my pops.
- 2:02Speaker 2: How's your pop, man?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Is he good? He's doing great. Yeah. I haven't seen
- 2:05Speaker 1: him in a while. Shout out to Pops. He listens
- 2:07Speaker 1: to me every week. But, yeah, we— We went to
- 2:11Speaker 1: visit him there. The first week I went by myself
- 2:14Speaker 1: and hung out with him and did a little touring
- 2:16Speaker 1: over there and took my dad to Medellin.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Back to the motherland. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Took my dad to Medellin for a little bit. And
- 2:23Speaker 1: then it was fun, you know, like just to have
- 2:26Speaker 1: that experience with my dad was great. And then the
- 2:29Speaker 1: week after, Amanda and my kids, you know, came to
- 2:33Speaker 1: see their grandpa and my dad was in heaven at
- 2:35Speaker 1: that point. And then we went to Cartagena and we
- 2:37Speaker 1: stayed in Cartagena for about a week. Nice. The wall
- 2:40Speaker 1: city and just got to really hang out and eat
- 2:43Speaker 1: the food and, you know, take a boat ride. Went
- 2:45Speaker 1: scuba diving with Amanda. So that was really cool.
- 2:47Speaker 2: How do you, how do you feel when you go
- 2:49Speaker 2: back to the motherland?
- 2:50Speaker 3: Does something, does something reconnect in your soul? Like how
- 2:54Speaker 3: does your soul feel when you're back there?
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean, especially the food.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Right?
- 2:58Speaker 1: To reconnect to the authenticity of the food and the
- 3:00Speaker 1: fact that, like, you can throw a rock in any
- 3:02Speaker 1: direction and you'll hit an arepa, you know? Yeah. And
- 3:06Speaker 1: that's amazing to me because, you know, my mom still
- 3:08Speaker 1: makes them here and no one makes better arepas than
- 3:11Speaker 1: my mom. But being there and have all the traditional
- 3:15Speaker 1: fruits and, you know, the coffee.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Colombian coffee, you know? It's like just.
- 3:24Speaker 3: people talking spanish and yeah it was really great and
- 3:29Speaker 3: and nakano loved it you know she's five years old
- 3:31Speaker 3: so everything's so vibrant for her she really enjoyed it
- 3:33Speaker 3: how was it for her to see i mean was
- 3:35Speaker 3: it culture shock she struggled.
- 3:36Speaker 1: With the heat she's like it's too hot i want
- 3:39Speaker 1: to go inside you know but then once she like
- 3:42Speaker 1: got into it she she loved it we have a
- 3:44Speaker 1: couple pictures with you know, with the Colombian women who
- 3:49Speaker 1: had the traditional Colombian dresses and the fruit in the head.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And she took a little picture. She got her hair
- 3:54Speaker 1: done like them. And it was just great. It was
- 3:56Speaker 1: really fun. And then I came back and ripped like
- 3:59Speaker 1: a band-aid back on SES. So we're shooting. We're on
- 4:02Speaker 1: our third. We're in our fourth episode right now.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Fourth of season?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Season 24. This is officially my 10th year on the show.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Congratulations, yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Thank you, man. Thank you so much.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Keep it lucky. You keep being blessed, man. What wonderful blessings.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, this is pretty good, man. But you went with
- 4:21Speaker 1: your lady?
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just a family trip. And we went.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Wait, you took your boys too? Took my boys too, yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 1: We all went.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, we had to see him, right? It
- 4:37Speaker 3: was almost like a pilgrimage. But it was a matter
- 4:40Speaker 3: of where we were going to do it. We couldn't
- 4:42Speaker 3: do it in Puerto Rico at the time.
- 4:43Speaker 1: We were all busy.
- 4:45Speaker 3: And so we finally had a time where we were
- 4:47Speaker 3: all free and London was it.
- 4:50Speaker 1: But it was magical.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It was magical to be there.
- 4:54Speaker 3: And what I love about Bad Bunny is that a
- 4:56Speaker 3: lot of this particular album anyway, I mean his other albums,
- 4:59Speaker 3: but this particular album, he really focuses on the Hibato
- 5:03Speaker 3: aspect of being Puerto Rican. And Hibato, by the way,
- 5:07Speaker 3: for those listening is like A hick, right? Like someone
- 5:12Speaker 3: from the island. And so to be there and to
- 5:15Speaker 3: see people dressed like jibaros and to see them wearing
- 5:19Speaker 3: the baba, which is the straw hat, and to see
- 5:22Speaker 3: them reciting the lyrics, which by the way, I told
- 5:26Speaker 3: you earlier, big Colombian, big Venezuelan community there who are
- 5:30Speaker 3: all showing so much love.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It was just like, it felt.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Like a pilgrimage for me and the kids.
- 5:36Speaker 2: And the kids grew up in L.A.
- 5:38Speaker 3: They didn't really grow up around there.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Different flavor, yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and for them to see their own people and
- 5:43Speaker 3: to see the Puerto Rican flag out.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Beautiful.
- 5:46Speaker 2: We were just representing.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And he puts quite a concert, too.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Incredible, incredible performer.
- 5:51Speaker 1: That's great. Did you dance?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 5:53Speaker 1: A little or a lot? A little bit.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Mainly Elsie, right?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, of course.
- 5:58Speaker 3: But I was feeling it.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I was going with it.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Everything hurts now.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Everything hurts. Did you dance when you were in Colombia?
- 6:05Speaker 1: It hurt too much.
- 6:06Speaker 2: A little bit of salsa?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it hurt. To get down? It hurt, yeah. I mean,
- 6:09Speaker 1: I did, and I tried. And Nakano's always down to dance.
- 6:13Speaker 1: She's five, and she wants to dance all the time.
- 6:16Speaker 2: She's a performer.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But it was great. I mean, to your point, listening
- 6:19Speaker 1: to her music was really great.
- 6:21Speaker 2: It was great. Right?
- 6:22Speaker 3: I just felt like I was connected, like my soul
- 6:25Speaker 3: was connecting back. Even though I was in London, my
- 6:28Speaker 3: soul was connecting back to my roots. That's why I
- 6:31Speaker 3: asked you that question.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Um, did you experience any icks when you were there?
- 6:35Speaker 2: Any icks? Define icks. Ah, man. Define icks.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I'm glad. It's the perfect segue into, uh, we're going
- 6:41Speaker 1: to go to our experts, uh, behind the, uh, the
- 6:44Speaker 1: producing wall over there. Um, can you guys give us
- 6:47Speaker 1: a definition of icks?
- 6:49Speaker 5: Testing, testing. Does that sound good? I actually have it
- 6:54Speaker 5: pulled up.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Oh.
- 6:56Speaker 5: The ick is that sudden and often irrational feeling of
- 7:00Speaker 5: being turned off by someone you were previously attracted to,
- 7:03Speaker 5: usually over something small or weirdly specific. The term has
- 7:06Speaker 5: been around since the 90s, but was popularized by Love
- 7:09Speaker 5: Island and later TikTok, where people began sharing their hyper-specific icks.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And it evolved from.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Attraction to absolutely anything under the sun.
- 7:18Speaker 1: So, like, friends can have an ick?
- 7:21Speaker 5: Anyone. A dog can give you an ick.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That turns you off, though.
- 7:24Speaker 4: But I do feel like it's, People use it a
- 7:27Speaker 4: lot in dating.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Right, because it's way funnier in dating. But, you know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: since we're not dating, Freddie, Freddie, do you have an
- 7:34Speaker 1: ick for me? Is there something about me that icks you?
- 7:39Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Is there something about.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Me that icks on you? No, no, Wilmer.
- 7:44Speaker 5: You are perfect.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You should ask me.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Is there something that I do that icks you?
- 7:48Speaker 1: When I don't see you. I really ick that very much.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I love using it in the wrong way, too. Like, man,
- 7:56Speaker 1: that's like such a ickster moment.
- 8:00Speaker 3: What icks you of just like, think of like the
- 8:03Speaker 3: last thing where it doesn't even need to be a
- 8:06Speaker 3: romantic relationship.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'll tell you a super silly one. Like when one
- 8:11Speaker 1: of our homies or a friend or whatever did their
- 8:13Speaker 1: hair and then they forgot to like fully blend in
- 8:16Speaker 1: the gel. So what, like the gel is like caked
- 8:20Speaker 1: on right there on the side? Yeah, like the gel
- 8:21Speaker 1: is like a little caked up a little bit here.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And then it just like they miss a spot. But
- 8:26Speaker 1: the gel, like it wasn't fully blended in, so it's
- 8:28Speaker 1: still a little white. Like the wax is still a
- 8:30Speaker 1: little white. Yeah. You know, it's kind of a little
- 8:33Speaker 1: bit of an ink. I don't call them back.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I had a family member, a younger family member who
- 8:39Speaker 3: was dating this girl.
- 8:40Speaker 2: And I was like, hey, man, what happened? Are you
- 8:42Speaker 2: still dating the girl? He goes, nah, man.
- 8:45Speaker 3: She had a grape jelly stain on her jeans. I
- 8:51Speaker 3: saw the grape jelly and I couldn't be with her anymore.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I was like, because she had a grape jelly stain?
- 8:57Speaker 1: It's a very good one. It's a very good one.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He was completely turned off. I think more of a
- 9:01Speaker 3: general sense, and I'm going to sound, I don't know, whatever,
- 9:05Speaker 3: corny saying this.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Man, I don't.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I don't like when people lie, man.
- 9:11Speaker 3: If I catch somebody lying or being deceitful.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we're still cool. But then in my brain, I'm like, okay,
- 9:21Speaker 3: you're a liar, man. You're not invited.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You're not invited.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And I say that really gently and carefully because, look,
- 9:29Speaker 3: none of us are perfect.
- 9:30Speaker 2: You're not perfect. I'm not perfect. Hello?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Is this thing on?
- 9:34Speaker 2: I'm not trying to say that I am, but that
- 9:37Speaker 2: turns me off.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I agree with that. I can piggyback from that. And
- 9:43Speaker 1: it doesn't have to be big lies.
- 9:45Speaker 2: No.
- 9:46Speaker 1: It's just stupid little lies that I'm just like, what
- 9:48Speaker 1: was the point of that? Like, oh, wait, I did
- 9:51Speaker 1: call you back. No. You can just say, I forgot.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Can you just say, I forgot? I didn't call you back.
- 9:58Speaker 1: You should check your, you know, you did it, right?
- 10:00Speaker 1: Like a little small things. But, you know, I think
- 10:04Speaker 1: that when the ick was created in this generation, it
- 10:11Speaker 1: made people realize, increase the amount of items that go
- 10:15Speaker 1: on a list of things that you're not okay with.
- 10:17Speaker 1: So now to me, it almost kind of like doubled
- 10:20Speaker 1: down on, on not just perfection on what people think
- 10:24Speaker 1: they deserve without looking at like, what are your personal
- 10:28Speaker 1: aches to yourself? Like, can you look in the mirror
- 10:31Speaker 1: and be like, there's nothing about me that's ache, right? Like,
- 10:34Speaker 1: I mean, look, we're using this word now as a
- 10:36Speaker 1: scientific thing, but I also think it's like kind of
- 10:38Speaker 1: sad that, You know, you mentioned that somebody had like
- 10:42Speaker 1: a little jelly stain in their pants and all of
- 10:45Speaker 1: a sudden it's like, can't call him back. Yeah. Like
- 10:49Speaker 1: you don't spill things on your stuff at all yourself.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You know, it's very interesting, right?
- 10:54Speaker 3: I tried to reason with him and he just, he
- 10:56Speaker 3: made his decision.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Wow. So he never called Shakira back?
- 11:04Speaker 2: So what are you trying to say? You've seen Shakira
- 11:05Speaker 2: with a grape jelly stain?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm not past that.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not past that because, you know, maybe she
- 11:11Speaker 1: was eating a cream Philly donut. Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, we're all human.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I mean, don't you get hungry sometimes? You know.
- 11:19Speaker 3: So besides lying, what else do you find in people
- 11:23Speaker 3: or something that?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think, let's see. I think you
- 11:31Speaker 1: nailed it with the line. Look, at my age now,
- 11:36Speaker 1: it's just I don't have time for that. I don't
- 11:40Speaker 1: have time, not because it makes you a horrible person.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:44Speaker 1: It's just like you don't have time because, you know,
- 11:48Speaker 1: we just wasted 20 minutes on something that wasn't real.
- 11:51Speaker 1: And like right now, it's just to me, it has
- 11:53Speaker 1: to be real now. It has to be real. Before
- 11:55Speaker 1: we have time to like create a mirage so then
- 11:58Speaker 1: we can eventually find out what it was, you know?
- 12:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 1: There is either water and the desert or there isn't, right? Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And I need to know, is that real or not?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Yes or no? Or like, but look, it looks like, no. Yeah.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I don't know, for me, I don't know if I'm
- 12:10Speaker 1: explaining myself well. No, no, it makes perfect sense. You know,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I just, I think that's a big one for me. And,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but Leo, what is an egg for you? Um, I
- 12:24Speaker 1: got a lot. That's an, um, um is a big
- 12:26Speaker 1: egg for me. Just kidding.
- 12:29Speaker 5: I'm sure I have a lot. I'm currently dating, so
- 12:34Speaker 5: let me think about it. But I do have a
- 12:36Speaker 5: list of random icks if you guys want me to
- 12:38Speaker 5: go through them.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I know Cooper has a list. I want to hear
- 12:41Speaker 1: Cooper's icks.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, go for it.
- 12:44Speaker 4: People who complain about shit we all have to do,
- 12:49Speaker 4: as if they are so overwhelmed and affected by things
- 12:54Speaker 4: like working a nine to five or having to sit
- 12:59Speaker 4: in traffic or there's just that kind of constant complaining
- 13:05Speaker 4: kind of mentality that it's like, Hey, we all had
- 13:10Speaker 4: the same day like that, like that terminal uniqueness.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Oh, you mean, do you mean like, ah, I just,
- 13:16Speaker 1: I got stuck in traffic like that or am I
- 13:19Speaker 1: getting it wrong? What is the specific, give me that.
- 13:22Speaker 1: What is that? What does that sound like?
- 13:25Speaker 4: The ick to me.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:28Speaker 4: One time I was dating someone who had worked freelance
- 13:32Speaker 4: and I mean, I work freelance now too. And I'm now,
- 13:35Speaker 4: which is actually sometimes busier than working a nine to five,
- 13:38Speaker 4: but she had gotten a nine to five and after
- 13:43Speaker 4: working a 40 hour work week, the way she was complaining,
- 13:46Speaker 4: you would have thought she had, you know, been in
- 13:48Speaker 4: the coal mines for like 70 hours. And I'm like,
- 13:54Speaker 4: I also worked a 40 hour work week. Same with
- 13:56Speaker 4: most of America. It was so, it was the ick
- 14:01Speaker 4: for me. It completely turned me off.
- 14:04Speaker 1: That's a, I can see exactly why it will be
- 14:07Speaker 1: an ick. What about for you, Leo?
- 14:10Speaker 5: One came to mind as Cooper was talking. When someone
- 14:13Speaker 5: offers me food, we both order, and they offer me
- 14:18Speaker 5: their food before they even touch theirs.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Or they ask- Wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on one second.
- 14:24Speaker 1: That's a very- They're offering you food?
- 14:26Speaker 5: They're offering me a bite of their food before they've
- 14:29Speaker 5: even touched theirs.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Why is that a nick?
- 14:31Speaker 5: Because you ordered it to enjoy it. I want to
- 14:34Speaker 5: enjoy mine too. So, like, let's enjoy and then maybe
- 14:38Speaker 5: you can nibble off my plate. Also, I actually don't
- 14:40Speaker 5: like sharing plates.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Oh, well, that's what it is. Let's get to the
- 14:43Speaker 1: bottom of what it is. Now that I'm talking. Because
- 14:48Speaker 1: if my plate gets here, I'm like, oh, do you
- 14:49Speaker 1: want to try it? Before I put my grubby hands
- 14:53Speaker 1: or my... No, it's not the grubby hands.
- 14:55Speaker 5: It's just like, I want... Let's enjoy this together. And
- 14:59Speaker 5: then if you want to collaborate, we can collaborate. But, like,
- 15:01Speaker 5: the food just arrived. You know, as I'm talking, I'm
- 15:04Speaker 5: realizing my mom used to do that as a kid.
- 15:05Speaker 5: So that's probably.
- 15:08Speaker 1: And I'd always be like. What a breakthrough. It's a
- 15:10Speaker 1: breakthrough on those amigos, you know.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Is this therapy?
- 15:12Speaker 1: Therapeutic women. Yeah, yeah. Wait, give me a list of,
- 15:16Speaker 1: you said you have a list of X's.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Yeah, you want to read them off together? Yeah. A
- 15:20Speaker 5: grown man running with a backpack on.
- 15:23Speaker 1: What if it's a utility backpack and they're, you know,
- 15:28Speaker 1: and they're defending our country? Like, what's going on?
- 15:30Speaker 2: What do you mean, like a school backpack?
- 15:34Speaker 5: I've seen people run with backpacks and just bouncing up
- 15:37Speaker 5: and down, but they're in full running gear. I'm just like,
- 15:40Speaker 5: let's be.
- 15:40Speaker 1: A little more- But why is that an egg? You're
- 15:42Speaker 1: not wearing the backpack.
- 15:43Speaker 2: It turns you off.
- 15:44Speaker 1: You're like, ah, it turns me off.
- 15:45Speaker 5: This isn't for me.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I just don't know. Okay, this is a general one.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Moving on.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I heard the backpack one is a big one. A
- 15:51Speaker 1: lot of eggs are built around a backpack showing up
- 15:54Speaker 1: to either a date, a meeting. It's a very interesting
- 15:57Speaker 1: thing about the backpack.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I was telling you guys that I
- 16:00Speaker 4: had a friend who was on a third date and
- 16:02Speaker 4: the guy showed up with a rolly backpack. And typically
- 16:06Speaker 4: a third date's like, that's going well. And then after
- 16:09Speaker 4: she was like, I don't think I can, after seeing that,
- 16:12Speaker 4: I just don't, I have the ick.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Wow.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Wow. Got turned off.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But he was coming from?
- 16:18Speaker 2: Work.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Work.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 4: I mean, people are going to have a backpack.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I guess you're not out to be a makeup artist.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Yeah. Right.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, makeup artist, yeah.
- 16:28Speaker 4: It makes me think about when you have something, a
- 16:31Speaker 4: good thing going, whether that's a date or a friendship
- 16:34Speaker 4: or business relationship, and there's just this one petty thing.
- 16:40Speaker 4: What are you shutting yourself off from?
- 16:43Speaker 5: A rolling backpack.
- 16:45Speaker 1: A rolling backpack. Yeah, by the way, you could have
- 16:46Speaker 1: seen what all the hype was about. Exactly. Leo, read
- 16:49Speaker 1: another one.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Seeing someone's run logged on Strava, which is like a
- 16:55Speaker 5: fitness app where you log all your stuff. Seeing they
- 16:58Speaker 5: logged their run, that was only, like, 0.4 miles.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Oh, interesting.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Okay, so, like.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Maybe it's someone you're dating.
- 17:05Speaker 1: There's nothing to brag about, basically.
- 17:07Speaker 5: It's also, like, why are you even opening your app?
- 17:10Speaker 5: You went for a walk.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Oh, they show you the app and be like.
- 17:13Speaker 5: No, because you can follow people, like.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Oh, got it, got it, got it.
- 17:16Speaker 5: You can see what people log. They've logged 0.4 miles.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:19Speaker 5: It's like.
- 17:20Speaker 1: You could.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Wait, what?
- 17:22Speaker 1: So, basically, if somebody logs in, like, that they... Like,
- 17:27Speaker 1: meaning if you walk half a mile, you don't log
- 17:30Speaker 1: it in as, like, an achievement because, like, everybody can
- 17:33Speaker 1: do that.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But you're saying there's something where everyone could see what
- 17:36Speaker 2: you do?
- 17:36Speaker 5: Yeah, you, like, can have friends where you can, like,
- 17:38Speaker 5: track people's fitness goals.
- 17:41Speaker 1: It's an app. It's an app where everyone's comparing each other's.
- 17:46Speaker 5: We have better ones.
- 17:47Speaker 4: I think.
- 17:49Speaker 5: This is one.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Clapping when the plane lands.
- 17:52Speaker 1: That's unique to you? Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 17:56Speaker 1: He has a guilty look on his face. He claps.
- 17:58Speaker 2: He claps.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Are you a clapper? We'll never date.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Or the people who, like, stand up the second the
- 18:04Speaker 4: plane lands.
- 18:05Speaker 5: That I hate.
- 18:05Speaker 4: I know you don't like that.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I know you don't like that. I hate, I hate,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I hate.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but sometimes people stand up, and I'm guilty of
- 18:11Speaker 3: this because, like, I've just been sitting for, like, five hours.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I'm like. I got to freaking stretch.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's one thing. You're up and you're stretching.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Or the other one is that you're up and you're
- 18:21Speaker 1: trying to get to your bag and you're trying to
- 18:23Speaker 1: bring it down right away. I'm like, all right, cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like,
- 18:27Speaker 1: you're just going to be ahead of me by two minutes.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Maybe. You know? Yeah, that's a big... Oh, you.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Yeah, or like.
- 18:36Speaker 1: But the clapping one is hilarious to me. Beautiful, perfect landing. Okay,
- 18:42Speaker 1: here's the oxymoron, though. What if... Here's the dilemma. What
- 18:46Speaker 1: if people clap because it was such a turbulent, scary
- 18:51Speaker 1: flight that when they land, they're clapping for the pilots
- 18:54Speaker 1: to know they're grateful that they had landed safely?
- 18:58Speaker 5: I mean, that's not Nick. That's a movie.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Okay. What's another one?
- 19:06Speaker 5: A person who says yummy at a restaurant.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Says yo-ey. After they take a bite or like when
- 19:16Speaker 2: the food arrives?
- 19:17Speaker 1: I don't know. It'd be funny. This is the word yummy.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Like don't say that word. This is the word yummy, period.
- 19:23Speaker 4: This is what on the list that I totally agree with.
- 19:25Speaker 4: It's like grown ass people making their birthday like a
- 19:29Speaker 4: whole entire month and week or whatever.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Oh, that's called an alcoholic.
- 19:34Speaker 4: It's kind of like you're a grown up, like not
- 19:37Speaker 4: a little kid.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Yeah. So I'm birthday month. Yeah. That's it.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Well, that's also someone who's probably not letting go, not maturing,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I guess. But what about a birthday weekend?
- 19:50Speaker 4: That's totally acceptable if your birthday falls on the weekend.
- 19:53Speaker 1: What about, oh, wow.
- 19:55Speaker 5: I don't agree with that statement.
- 19:56Speaker 1: What about birthday week, though?
- 19:58Speaker 5: That's getting less icky.
- 20:00Speaker 4: It's getting a little less icky.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Damn, you're right. Birthday month?
- 20:04Speaker 5: Yeah, that's just a lot.
- 20:05Speaker 2: That's excessive. It's too much.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I had a birthday month. Remember that? I think it was...
- 20:11Speaker 1: I don't remember it.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I'm just kidding.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my guy right there. That's my guy.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So you celebrated the whole month?
- 20:16Speaker 1: Well, it wasn't like I celebrated the whole month. It
- 20:19Speaker 1: was that every weekend I had a thing. And I
- 20:23Speaker 1: think it was when I turned... You're 30, I think.
- 20:26Speaker 4: 30.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're 30.
- 20:28Speaker 3: You're still like a kid, you know?
- 20:30Speaker 2: You're still a kid, basically, you know?
- 20:33Speaker 3: But I think what Cooper's saying is that if you're
- 20:36Speaker 3: like 48, you shouldn't be having.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Precisely.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:42Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:43Speaker 4: I've got another one.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 4: People who are constantly creating content. Like if you're going
- 20:50Speaker 4: out to a restaurant and someone's going to like prop
- 20:53Speaker 4: up their phone to take a video of our meal
- 20:59Speaker 4: and everything.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yes. So how about this? You're going on a date
- 21:04Speaker 1: with somebody. The plates arrive. And they pull the phone
- 21:11Speaker 1: out and take a picture of their meal. They don't
- 21:14Speaker 1: post it. They just take a picture of their meal.
- 21:16Speaker 4: It's so circumstantial for me. You know, are we somewhere
- 21:19Speaker 4: that is, I mean, this is an exceptionally beautiful, one-of-a-kind
- 21:24Speaker 4: kind of dining experience or somewhere we've been wanting to
- 21:27Speaker 4: go for a really long time. And the presentation is
- 21:29Speaker 4: really unique. I think I'll be okay. But if it's just.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Like chilies?
- 21:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: The wings came and it was just like.
- 21:39Speaker 4: That to me is circumstantial.
- 21:41Speaker 3: The potato skins arrived and you felt you needed to
- 21:46Speaker 3: celebrate it.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Order a michelada. I got to post this.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Michelada. So good.
- 21:51Speaker 5: I have another one.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Someone's singing really hard in their car when they don't
- 21:56Speaker 5: know all the words.
- 21:57Speaker 1: That's pretty incredible.
- 21:59Speaker 2: While someone else is in the car?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Sure.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But what if the person knew all
- 22:05Speaker 1: the lyrics and that's fine?
- 22:10Speaker 5: I think so.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 22:11Speaker 4: I think that's pretty joyful either way.
- 22:14Speaker 5: It can be funny.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:16Speaker 4: And cute.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Do you sing out loud in your car by yourself
- 22:21Speaker 1: without knowing all the lyrics?
- 22:24Speaker 3: I mean, when I'm by myself, maybe. But if someone
- 22:26Speaker 3: else is in the car, I'd be more mindful of that.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Right?
- 22:32Speaker 1: You're a reasonable man. You're a reasonable man.
- 22:34Speaker 2: It's therapeutic to just get it out in the car.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Like Bad Bunny. Me, I be. You're only going to
- 22:41Speaker 1: know that one part. Everybody. I don't care who you are.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Everybody's going to only know that part. Yeah. The one part.
- 22:49Speaker 5: All right. I have one more for y'all. This one, Wilmer,
- 22:52Speaker 5: I feel like you probably don't. A person who says,
- 22:56Speaker 5: I did a thing before revealing a haircut or something.
- 22:59Speaker 1: You did what?
- 23:01Speaker 5: Someone who says, like, I did a thing, like, when
- 23:04Speaker 5: they were revealing a new haircut or, like, bought something
- 23:07Speaker 5: cool or, like.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I did a thing, which is sort of the, no.
- 23:11Speaker 5: It's like, I did a thing?
- 23:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like this, like, cheeky little, like.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I did a thing, and then bam, and then they
- 23:18Speaker 3: present the thing that.
- 23:19Speaker 1: They want to show.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's always extremely underwhelming.
- 23:24Speaker 5: I see your thing that you did. Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Maybe not those exact words. Maybe not. I don't know. Well,
- 23:36Speaker 1: so Adley Maldonado is my chief of staff at our company,
- 23:40Speaker 1: WB Entertainment.
- 23:42Speaker 2: No, it's fine.
- 23:44Speaker 1: She'll just have to watch this like everyone else. But
- 23:48Speaker 1: she is so current with all the lingo, all the
- 23:52Speaker 1: Gen Z lingo that she uses all of it. She's like,
- 23:55Speaker 1: my favorite thing she does is like, okay, okay, shirt.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Okay, what?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Okay, shirt. Like I'm wearing like a really nice shirt.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 24:06Speaker 1: You're like, okay, you just decided to give arms. Like,
- 24:10Speaker 1: or like. And I'm making a lot of this up.
- 24:13Speaker 1: She's not technically said these things, but I'm trying to
- 24:15Speaker 1: tell you the vibe that she gives. She goes, okay,
- 24:20Speaker 1: no crumbs.
- 24:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:23Speaker 3: She'll say the word okay before she says the thing
- 24:26Speaker 3: that she's referring to.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Why are you laughing?
- 24:33Speaker 4: That's a very Gen Z thing.
- 24:34Speaker 5: Yeah, and I'm imagining her sitting there.
- 24:37Speaker 2: As a guest.
- 24:38Speaker 1: We should probably do that. But she's so cute about it, too.
- 24:41Speaker 1: She should be the next guest. She's like, what else
- 24:44Speaker 1: did she say? She was like, she goes, she goes,
- 24:50Speaker 1: what did she say when I did a red carpet
- 24:52Speaker 1: video that Vincent posted the other day? And she's like,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I forget.
- 24:59Speaker 5: I can hear her saying work in my head, but
- 25:01Speaker 5: you also say that jokingly.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I always say work.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Work, work.
- 25:06Speaker 1: But that's like so... Like the song? You better work, bitch.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:09Speaker 2: What do you mean? Like the song? Like work, work, work.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Kind of. I mean, all that stuff comes from there.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out another one that she says.
- 25:17Speaker 1: She says... I don't know. She's got to be here.
- 25:25Speaker 1: She's got to be here. She can explain all these, but...
- 25:28Speaker 1: But I don't... That doesn't give me the ache.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Right.
- 25:30Speaker 1: That's more charming. There's more charm in it. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 1: There's no ache.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I do think there are some like... I do think
- 25:37Speaker 4: there are some universal ics though.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Like what?
- 25:41Speaker 4: Witnessing someone be rude to wait staff or a valet
- 25:45Speaker 4: or something like that. Or noticing somebody doesn't wash their
- 25:50Speaker 4: hands after going to the bathroom. Like I do think
- 25:52Speaker 4: there are certain universal ics, but this whole evolution of
- 25:56Speaker 4: the ic is it's become so specific.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Yeah. And also they jump on each other's ics. It's
- 26:04Speaker 1: like your ic is my ic now. And like, what? Anyways,
- 26:08Speaker 1: this was a great episode. Thank you, everyone. This is
- 26:11Speaker 1: Wilmer Valderrama.
- 26:12Speaker 2: This is Freddy Rodriguez.
- 26:13Speaker 1: And we're just going to call it a day because
- 26:16Speaker 1: otherwise this episode is going to become an ick. See
- 26:21Speaker 1: you on the next one.
- 26:21Speaker 2: See you on the next one.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Peace.
