- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. Today we are talking about the
- 0:32one action that you can take immediately that's going to help
- 0:36you the most. And that is probably one of the
- 0:39most common questions that I get asked when people start coaching
- 0:43right away. You know, what's the one thing
- 0:44that I can do? And they always sound like
- 0:46they're desperate when they ask the question because they are.
- 0:49And they want, they want to make changes and they want things to
- 0:52go right away. And it's it's tough because
- 0:56everyone's in different places, right?
- 0:58And everyone has their own version of their story.
- 1:03We all have a story and that story is what holds us back
- 1:06ultimately. But this particular question,
- 1:09what's the one thing that I can do?
- 1:11That's what we're focusing on today.
- 1:13And truthfully, the one thing that you can do for yourself,
- 1:18Manage your mindset. Control your thoughts however
- 1:21you want to look at it. Nobody can control your
- 1:24thoughts, period. You are the one that is in
- 1:27charge of your thoughts. And this is such a hard concept
- 1:33to understand because we are surrounded by things that are
- 1:37constantly attempting to control our thoughts.
- 1:40You know, advertising, influencers, social media,
- 1:44children, our spouses, our bosses, everybody's trying to
- 1:49control your thoughts and ultimately no one has control
- 1:53over them, but you and you are the one that has the ultimate
- 1:58choice of what you want to focus on.
- 2:00Everything happens internally. Everything is an internal game.
- 2:04You know that distance between your two temples, that is what
- 2:07we're talking about. That's how far you are from your
- 2:10goal. The distance, if you measured
- 2:12your head, whatever that distance is between your two
- 2:14temples, that's how far you are from your outcomes, because it
- 2:18all depends on what you think. It all depends on what you feel.
- 2:22Those two things are combined. Thinking and feeling are
- 2:25combined because they one dictates the other.
- 2:28As I've said before in other podcasts, it's like one is is
- 2:32predicating the other. And if you are looking for
- 2:36reasons to be offended, if you are looking for reasons to give
- 2:39other people control because, Oh well, they're my boss or he's my
- 2:43husband or she's my wife or my partner or whatever, it might be
- 2:48that little tiny bit of information.
- 2:52And this is what's so difficult for people to understand, is
- 2:55that these, these are like little drops of poison.
- 2:59And I'll often use the metaphor of saying if I had a giant rain
- 3:02barrel and I filled that rain barrel with water and I told you
- 3:06it was the best water in the whole world, totally pure, and
- 3:09you couldn't wait to try that water.
- 3:11And then I walked over and I'm talking like a big, giant rain
- 3:14barrel. So let's just say maybe it's 100
- 3:17gallon rain barrel. OK, so it's a good size.
- 3:20And I put one drop of poison into that rain barrel.
- 3:24Just one, Just one little drop of poison.
- 3:27And then I say to you, hey, would you like to have a cup of
- 3:29this water? You would look at me like I was
- 3:32absolutely insane. Why would I want to drink that
- 3:34water? Kim?
- 3:35You'd say, this is crazy. I don't want to drink that
- 3:37water. You just put a drop of poison
- 3:38into it. Well, the truth is that's what
- 3:41happens in our brain every single day when we allow those
- 3:44little tiny drops of information and thoughts and attempted
- 3:49control from other people to start to penetrate into our
- 3:53psyche into what we believe. Those little drops add up over
- 3:58and over and over and over and that's what starts the problem.
- 4:01So think about that. If you wouldn't drink the water
- 4:05that I would offer you with one drop of poison, and by the way,
- 4:08that is probably completely OK to drink it.
- 4:11According to government regulations, you should be
- 4:14allowed to drink that and be safe.
- 4:16So when you even think about that, even more, how crazy is
- 4:20that? You're told it's safe, you can
- 4:22have it, you can drink it, and you'll be OK.
- 4:24And I always love it when someone says, hey, it's OK,
- 4:26you'll be OK. Why do you want to just be OK?
- 4:30You don't want to just be OK. If you didn't, if you just want
- 4:32to be OK, you wouldn't be listening to this because you're
- 4:33trying to find out what are the clues to be better.
- 4:36How do I get to my place where I thrive?
- 4:38How do I get to that place where I can consistently feel a
- 4:41certain way? And I I can't emphasize enough,
- 4:45these little tiny drops, these are the ones that are the
- 4:48problem. Taking a drink from that barrel
- 4:51would be a problem. And here we are looking at
- 4:55ourselves every day, and we're saying, well, what's the one
- 4:58thing I can do? Everyone wants to look
- 5:00externally for? What can I do to change?
- 5:03What's the one action I can take?
- 5:05Well, the one action that you can take is to control what you
- 5:10allow into your brain every single day.
- 5:12Your own thoughts, what you're surrounding yourself with, how
- 5:16you view things, asking yourself over and over and over.
- 5:21Is this how I really want to view this?
- 5:22Is this true? Is this just what I've always
- 5:25thought? You have got to find your better
- 5:29questions so that you can pull yourself out of this cycle of
- 5:34just allowing everything to happen to you, because that is
- 5:38not the way you want to live. So the one thing that I want you
- 5:41to focus on for this whole week, looking up and beyond, I mean,
- 5:46this is just an, you know, a a a stepping stone in this process,
- 5:50but it's a continuous stepping stone.
- 5:52I can't stress that enough. This one is a continuous
- 5:55stepping stone. The action that you are going to
- 5:57consistently take is how long am I going to hang on to this?
- 6:00When something happens, how long am I going to look at this as
- 6:03it's an offence, What can I do right now to move myself
- 6:07forward? So you are always managing those
- 6:10thoughts, always managing the emotions, always managing the
- 6:13mindsets. That's the action that you
- 6:15should be focused on. OK guys, I will see you
- 6:18tomorrow. Have a great day.
