- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: Next.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Still solo
- 0:13Speaker 1: and yours for the rest of the week, but coming
- 0:14Speaker 1: up during the show, a lovely dining experience worth $100
- 0:18Speaker 1: at One Flower Hill in Sentosa Wild Sea Cafe. Can't
- 0:23Speaker 1: wait to tell you more, and I really just hope
- 0:24Speaker 1: you have a fantastic day ahead. Stay tuned. Singapore's number
- 0:28Speaker 1: one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It's been what, a couple of months or maybe 2
- 0:35Speaker 1: months or so since she did that epic uh reveal
- 0:38Speaker 1: on the stage in Coachella, right, with Anima. That was Coachella, right? Well,
- 0:42Speaker 1: the next big thing, Tomorrowland will happen very soon. I
- 0:45Speaker 1: think it's at the end of July or so. Two weekends,
- 0:49Speaker 1: I believe. Lineup is sick, it's crazy. So we're very
- 0:52Speaker 1: excited to see um what else unfolds for Tomorrowland. But first,
- 0:56Speaker 1: later on during the 9 a.m. hour, just after we
- 1:00Speaker 1: hit 9:00 a.m.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm really excited because this lovely guy, um, he's, I
- 1:05Speaker 1: think 31, and he's decided to take it upon himself
- 1:09Speaker 1: to make sure that people, uh, network and interact a
- 1:13Speaker 1: little bit more.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And I feel like it's bringing back the old days
- 1:17Speaker 1: of like kampong spirit, you know, that our parents used
- 1:19Speaker 1: to tell us about or our grandparents used to tell
- 1:21Speaker 1: us about. We watch it in movies, but I don't
- 1:24Speaker 1: see it enough. Honestly, even when I was growing up, um,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I lived in Pasir Ris like most of my life in, um, OK,
- 1:30Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say what block, but, but I lived
- 1:32Speaker 1: there most of my life and for the most part, right,
- 1:35Speaker 1: the void deck was empty, you know. I'm not really
- 1:37Speaker 1: sure why, um.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Whether or not people just don't hang out in that
- 1:41Speaker 1: particular void deck, maybe there's another preferred void deck where
- 1:44Speaker 1: people hang out at near the community garden. I've seen
- 1:47Speaker 1: that before. So, so that could be the case, but
- 1:50Speaker 1: Sheen Pang decided, you know what, I'm gonna bring void
- 1:54Speaker 1: deck community dining back or perhaps make it a thing.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Um, he's decided to make lots of soup, give it
- 2:01Speaker 1: out one day. It became such a hit, and he
- 2:04Speaker 1: noticed a lot of residents just like mingling, talking to
- 2:07Speaker 1: each other. I thought that was really so cool. And
- 2:10Speaker 1: this is such a heartfelt initiative. We decided, you know what,
- 2:12Speaker 1: we want to bring Xan Bang onto the show because
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think the perception is that, oh, we only interview
- 2:17Speaker 1: celebrities or we only interview, um, famous people.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Um, or influencers. No, that is so not true, especially
- 2:24Speaker 1: not on the shock circuit. We want to bring attention
- 2:27Speaker 1: to stories that the regular person and the regular Singaporean
- 2:31Speaker 1: out there has to offer.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And honestly, that feels very, very fulfilling to me. So,
- 2:36Speaker 1: can't wait to catch Shem Bang with us and find
- 2:38Speaker 1: out more about his story. Like what, what inspired him
- 2:41Speaker 1: to do this is, has there been requests to replicate
- 2:45Speaker 1: this in other neighborhoods here in Singapore? That could be
- 2:48Speaker 1: really cute. I think he's on to something for sure.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So that's just after 9:00 a.m. and uh something that
- 2:54Speaker 1: happened to me just yesterday.
- 2:56Speaker 1: has got me in a bit of a sticky situation today.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I can't turn my head to the to the right
- 3:01Speaker 1: properly to check my blind spot when I'm driving or
- 3:04Speaker 1: to my left, and I cannot believe this, but um
- 3:07Speaker 1: I think I slept on the wrong side of the
- 3:09Speaker 1: bed yesterday.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And when I stretched, like, I don't know, it's just
- 3:12Speaker 1: a random stretch. I was yawning, I stretched. I somehow
- 3:15Speaker 1: like pulled my shoulder muscle. I don't know whether it
- 3:17Speaker 1: was because it was my first time going back to
- 3:20Speaker 1: Pilates after a month and all my muscles felt really
- 3:23Speaker 1: strained and one wrong pull or one wrong stretch, like,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I don't know, messed up my shoulder muscle the wrong way.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And anyway, super stiff, um, as of yesterday afternoon and today,
- 3:35Speaker 1: that I cannot really turn my head. So I'm like, help.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Have you ever experienced this before? I'm sure you have, right?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Like it's one of those stupid things that I wish
- 3:44Speaker 1: I had a better story for it. In fact, you
- 3:46Speaker 1: know what, I should come up with a better story
- 3:48Speaker 1: instead of, oh, I yawned and stretched and pulled a muscle.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I mean, I should be like, yeah, I, I fended,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I fought off a bear or something, a ferocious animal.
- 3:58Speaker 1: But that's me. And um yesterday throughout the whole Pilates class, yes,
- 4:03Speaker 1: I still went to Pilates despite having um a slightly
- 4:07Speaker 1: injured shoulder. Um, I had that, you know, that, uh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: that medicinal patch that you put on your sore muscles. So,
- 4:14Speaker 1: I've never actually gone down into the store like Watson's
- 4:18Speaker 1: or Guardian to purchase one for myself because I used
- 4:20Speaker 1: to just like steal it from my dad, right, when
- 4:22Speaker 1: I was living with them. I went down to buy it.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And uh I basically smelled like a, like an uncle
- 4:28Speaker 1: the whole, the whole Pilates session. Like the girls were
- 4:31Speaker 1: just laughing at me because it was slowly peeling off
- 4:33Speaker 1: as I was doing the exercises. So, hanging out with
- 4:36Speaker 1: Rose actually. What a cute pairing. I mean, is that as,
- 4:40Speaker 1: you know, um, hint of new music coming perhaps? You
- 4:43Speaker 1: never know, to be honest. Like every time, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 1: celebrities post that they're hanging out together, I'm like, yep.
- 4:49Speaker 1: There might be a collaboration coming up. Speaking of which,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Ariana Grande's, uh, new music, definitely want to check that out.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But on another note, like I was saying earlier,
- 4:57Speaker 1: Um, even though our police here in Singapore have warned
- 5:01Speaker 1: us many, many times, countless times about concert ticket scams,
- 5:05Speaker 1: particularly when it comes to big concerts like BTS, for example, um,
- 5:08Speaker 1: they definitely put tons of, of warnings out that beware
- 5:12Speaker 1: because people are going to prey on you and if
- 5:15Speaker 1: you're so keen on watching this particular artist, right? I mean,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I understand how it feels when you have a passion
- 5:20Speaker 1: for something, when you really, really, really want to get tickets, um.
- 5:24Speaker 1: You want to believe in the best of people or
- 5:26Speaker 1: the good of people, right? You, you just always say, yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 1: other people will get scammed, but not me. I won't
- 5:32Speaker 1: get scammed. I, I know what I'm doing. That's what
- 5:34Speaker 1: we usually think, right? However, at least $68,000 has been lost,
- 5:42Speaker 1: even after repeated warnings about ticket scams. I think it's
- 5:45Speaker 1: actually a bit over $680,000 to be honest. And uh
- 5:49Speaker 1: I wanna take a guess at
- 5:50Speaker 1: Which particular platform, um, scammers approach victims on the most,
- 5:55Speaker 1: it was actually X. I mean, previously known as Twitter,
- 5:57Speaker 1: but it's actually X that they've been reaching out the most. Um,
- 6:01Speaker 1: of course, aside from X, there were other platforms they
- 6:03Speaker 1: reached out to as well, you know, Instagram and other,
- 6:06Speaker 1: other platforms too. But those, I, I guess, uh, X
- 6:10Speaker 1: became the most easily accessible for most people to reach
- 6:14Speaker 1: out to potential victims, right? And uh some screen grabs
- 6:17Speaker 1: were actually shared with the news channels and
- 6:20Speaker 1: Posted right now. You know, they asked for transfers and
- 6:23Speaker 1: the tickets never arrived. Obviously, no QR code was sent, nothing.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So the police are saying, please, please remember, purchase concert
- 6:32Speaker 1: tickets only on authorized platforms, the biggest one being Ticketmaster.
- 6:36Speaker 1: We know that it's challenging, it's difficult, we understand, totally
- 6:39Speaker 1: get it. Um, but I'd rather you try your best
- 6:42Speaker 1: to get that and, you know, if a friend can't
- 6:44Speaker 1: make it, then sell you the ticket rather than
- 6:48Speaker 1: Then paying some stranger and hoping that the ticket arrives,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? So, um, here's hoping that you,
- 6:54Speaker 1: if you're tuning in now, you did not become a
- 6:56Speaker 1: victim of a scam. Now, my question to you earlier was,
- 6:59Speaker 1: when was the last time you took a piece of
- 7:01Speaker 1: paper out, used a pen and wrote something extensively? I
- 7:05Speaker 1: don't know, it could be a letter, it could be
- 7:07Speaker 1: an exam, which we used to do all the time, right?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Um, giving some love to our friends over at ITE
- 7:15Speaker 1: right now. Um, unfortunately, the examination system at ITE went
- 7:19Speaker 1: down during an assessment just a few days ago. So
- 7:23Speaker 1: I think, um, there was a student from ITE College
- 7:25Speaker 1: East that posted about the incident, and, uh, this student
- 7:29Speaker 1: got up at 6 a.m., you know, reported to the
- 7:31Speaker 1: exam venue at 8:30 for a test that will take
- 7:34Speaker 1: place at 9:00 a.m., right?
- 7:35Speaker 1: But apparently nobody could log on and the system had crashed.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So the internet connection was fine, apparently. So they waited
- 7:42Speaker 1: in the exam venue for like 22 hours or so
- 7:45Speaker 1: before the invigilator came in and said, um, you can
- 7:49Speaker 1: come back another time.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And I think they were given an alternative date because
- 7:53Speaker 1: the whole system across all three ITE campuses were down.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So it's, wow, that was quite, quite intense. I don't
- 7:59Speaker 1: think I've ever heard of that, heard of this happening before.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But in the comment section, I think other students started
- 8:04Speaker 1: chiming in and saying like, oh, yeah, similar experiences and
- 8:07Speaker 1: Um, our test was rescheduled. So I think, um, a
- 8:11Speaker 1: lot of them took the exam 5 days after the
- 8:13Speaker 1: system went down. So maybe that could be a good thing,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know, you got 5 more days to just recap, refresh,
- 8:19Speaker 1: study a bit more in case you didn't manage to,
- 8:21Speaker 1: to complete it.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Um, but I believe that they worked on it and
- 8:24Speaker 1: it was, it was resolved and um all examinations were
- 8:28Speaker 1: gonna be, we're gonna proceed as scheduled using printed scripts. So,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I am not entirely sure whether in primary school.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Secondary school, I'm sure that you still write your examination answers, right?
- 8:41Speaker 1: I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't
- 8:44Speaker 1: have kids who are in school right now, so I
- 8:47Speaker 1: don't really know. But I believe that for the most
- 8:49Speaker 1: part in secondary and primary school, you still have to
- 8:51Speaker 1: use like pen and paper. But as you go into
- 8:53Speaker 1: like poly days, even for me when I went into poly,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I don't think we even touched a piece of pen
- 8:58Speaker 1: and paper because we were on our laptops or tablets
- 9:01Speaker 1: all the time already, and everything was downloaded onto your laptop.
- 9:04Speaker 1: So we barely wrote like a like a written essay,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Um, I do miss those times.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I mean, I really enjoyed writing and reading. I was
- 9:13Speaker 1: a bit of a nerd back then when I was
- 9:15Speaker 1: much younger.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And I think the one time my, my hand actually
- 9:19Speaker 1: like almost cramped up was during my pure literature exam
- 9:22Speaker 1: during O Levels. I was just scribbling and writing away.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I didn't realize at the end, my hand felt like
- 9:27Speaker 1: a claw, you know, because it was in that position
- 9:29Speaker 1: for so long. But yeah, those were the times of
- 9:33Speaker 1: written essays that really got my hand cramping up.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And on today's episode of Bodo Crime, Bodo Crime, Bodori, Bodori,
- 9:42Speaker 1: we're going to Changi Airport Terminal 3 again. I don't
- 9:46Speaker 1: know why people keep trying to steal from Changi Airport,
- 9:49Speaker 1: which is like the worst possible idea ever. Not saying
- 9:52Speaker 1: that stealing is a good idea in general, but why
- 9:55Speaker 1: Changi Airport? That's only one of the most heavily guarded and,
- 9:59Speaker 1: you know, surveillance place here in Singapore, right? There's so
- 10:02Speaker 1: much surveillance everywhere.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Anyway, this particular lady, she's from Indonesia. Unfortunately, she was
- 10:08Speaker 1: arrested for stealing two bottles of skincare worth almost $1000
- 10:15Speaker 1: Singapore dollars. Did you manage to guess what brand it is?
- 10:19Speaker 1: It's actually Lamer and as you, as you know, if
- 10:22Speaker 1: you're a skincare um enthusiast, you would know that each bottle,
- 10:26Speaker 1: like their, their, their moisturizing cream.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Can already be worth like $500 right? Plus, I think
- 10:33Speaker 1: she tried to steal like an eye cream or something.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So in total, it was um more like about $800
- 10:37Speaker 1: Sing dollars, you know, thereabouts. Very expensive, OK, very expensive.
- 10:42Speaker 1: In fact, when I had the opportunity to try it
- 10:44Speaker 1: last time, I used it so sparingly, like super, super sparingly,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and uh it's great, but it is very expensive. So, uh,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you know, these, these two bottles were discovered missing. It
- 10:57Speaker 1: was like um a jar rather.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And it was missing from the Shilla Duty Free store
- 11:01Speaker 1: in Changi Airport Terminal 3. So I think um they
- 11:05Speaker 1: had a loss prevention officer. I didn't even know that's
- 11:08Speaker 1: the title. They reviewed CCTV and observed this woman behaving
- 11:12Speaker 1: like super suspiciously.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Um, and she was entering and leaving the, she entered
- 11:17Speaker 1: and left the store without making any purchases, but upon
- 11:20Speaker 1: further checks, they were very sharp. They confirmed, you know what,
- 11:23Speaker 1: the items were missing. So they lodged a police report immediately. So,
- 11:27Speaker 1: if convicted, she may be sentenced to imprisonment for a
- 11:29Speaker 1: term of up to 7 years.
- 11:31Speaker 1: A fine or maybe even both. Um, hey, man, that's
- 11:34Speaker 1: a heavy price to pay for two bottles of skincare that's,
- 11:38Speaker 1: you know, worth about 800 bucks. I mean, yeah, it's expensive,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but what's more expensive is the time that you're going
- 11:44Speaker 1: to waste and spend if she gets, you know, imprisoned, right? So,
- 11:49Speaker 1: Well, please, you know, don't ever do this. Don't even try, OK?
- 11:53Speaker 1: Changi Airport, very high security over there. And it may
- 11:57Speaker 1: be tempting because, you know, skincare products like that can
- 11:59Speaker 1: be so expensive, but let's just do it the honest
- 12:02Speaker 1: way and save up like dollar by $1 right? I
- 12:05Speaker 1: can't wait to open up phone lines for this after AIDS,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but uh just wanted to plant the seed here, OK?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Big conversation yesterday. Uh, no, it's not about world events
- 12:14Speaker 1: or world politics, although some people may consider this a, uh,
- 12:17Speaker 1: very important world event, where Yaku Singapore has decided to
- 12:22Speaker 1: drop the orange flavor and switch it out for peach. Now,
- 12:25Speaker 1: the internet is very split right now, very, very divided. Um,
- 12:28Speaker 1: in fact, I don't know where I stand because I've
- 12:30Speaker 1: never tried the peach flavor before.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Um, usually, OK, I'm a bit boring, but if I
- 12:35Speaker 1: ever do drink Yako, it's original. I don't want like
- 12:38Speaker 1: the flavors and stuff. In fact, OK, don't come at
- 12:42Speaker 1: me for this. I'm not a real big fan of
- 12:46Speaker 1: the grape flavor. I know, I know, I know. I'm
- 12:49Speaker 1: an anomaly. I like the original flavor. It's just like
- 12:52Speaker 1: when I go to an ice cream shop, for example, right, um,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I will usually pick vanilla. Here's my reason, OK, here's
- 12:58Speaker 1: my reason.
- 12:59Speaker 1: A very good gelato or ice cream shop will do
- 13:03Speaker 1: a vanilla flavored ice cream perfectly, OK? Even though it
- 13:06Speaker 1: seems like the most basic option, but if they do
- 13:09Speaker 1: it well, they really do it well, and you know
- 13:11Speaker 1: that that ice cream shop is really good. I mean, look,
- 13:14Speaker 1: if you're tuning in now and you are an owner
- 13:15Speaker 1: of an ice cream shop, you can, you can dispute that,
- 13:18Speaker 1: that's fine, but that's just how I see it. It's
- 13:21Speaker 1: just like, you know, when I go to a cafe,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I will want to try just their regular coffee like
- 13:26Speaker 1: straight up, right?
- 13:27Speaker 1: Um, I don't like adding flavors to it and stuff.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So that's just me as a, as my preference and
- 13:31Speaker 1: as a person. So, um, right after 8, I cannot
- 13:34Speaker 1: wait to open up the phone lines because I feel
- 13:36Speaker 1: like us Singaporeans, we have a lot to say about it.
- 13:39Speaker 1: In fact, I saw some comments yesterday and this morning
- 13:41Speaker 1: as well on some of the social media posts that
- 13:44Speaker 1: were put up by different publications. People were saying like,
- 13:47Speaker 1: how dare they not consult us first before changing the flavors?
- 13:52Speaker 1: Because some people genuinely like the orange flavor, right?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Well, we'll get to that. So, uh, keep, keep your,
- 13:58Speaker 1: you know, keep your thoughts there and hold your horses.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I would love to open up the phone lines in
- 14:02Speaker 1: just a bit. OK, about time. I want to hear
- 14:04Speaker 1: your opinions and your stories as well. So, just announced yesterday.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Much to, I think everyone's shocked and surprised, whether it's
- 14:12Speaker 1: in a good or a bad way. Yaku Singapore has
- 14:14Speaker 1: announced that they're removing the orange flavor and they're changing
- 14:18Speaker 1: it to peach. Now, I thought that most people would
- 14:20Speaker 1: be like, OK, yeah, orange was the least popular flavor anyway,
- 14:23Speaker 1: but the internet is divided. I think people are, there
- 14:27Speaker 1: are a portion of people, you know, that that are
- 14:29Speaker 1: fans of the orange flavor. Um, this is a big
- 14:32Speaker 1: change because I think they've not done any changes for like,
- 14:36Speaker 1: Eons. Years and years, right? This is the first major
- 14:40Speaker 1: change since they were introduced here in Singapore. I think
- 14:44Speaker 1: this was like way before a lot of us were born,
- 14:45Speaker 1: like 1979, they were introduced here and I was reminiscing
- 14:49Speaker 1: that I recall at my, when I used to stay
- 14:52Speaker 1: with my family, right?
- 14:53Speaker 1: In, in the block, there'll be this auntie, we call
- 14:56Speaker 1: her the Yaku auntie. She will come around and she's
- 14:59Speaker 1: like the official reseller for Yakut or something. Maybe she's
- 15:02Speaker 1: a distributor, I don't know, but she has the rights
- 15:04Speaker 1: to it. So she will go, go up every floor
- 15:07Speaker 1: and she will sell like Yakut subscription or maybe not
- 15:10Speaker 1: even a subscription, just, you know, week by week if
- 15:12Speaker 1: you just want to get one. And it comes in
- 15:14Speaker 1: a pack of what, 5, right? So it's just nice
- 15:16Speaker 1: for one week. So,
- 15:18Speaker 1: Um, yeah, those brought back memories, but like I mentioned earlier,
- 15:21Speaker 1: I will always go for the original flavor. I know
- 15:24Speaker 1: I'm very boring, but I don't really want the flavors
- 15:27Speaker 1: in the yak. I just want it plain original. It's
- 15:31Speaker 1: just like Greek yogurt.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Or any sort of yogurt. I always go for no flavor, no,
- 15:36Speaker 1: or original, um, even coffee. I'll just go for like a,
- 15:40Speaker 1: you know, latte or like a cappuccino or a long black, right?
- 15:43Speaker 1: I won't put fancy stuff in it because all the
- 15:46Speaker 1: times that I've tried variations of it, you know, put,
- 15:49Speaker 1: put other ingredients in it, I didn't quite like it.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So I just go straight up, right?
- 15:53Speaker 1: So I want to open up phone lines right now, 669-11987.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I know the internet is divided, but are our listeners
- 15:59Speaker 1: divided as well? Let me know. How do you feel
- 16:02Speaker 1: about this and beyond the world of Yakuts? What are
- 16:05Speaker 1: some flavors that you really, really love in some, some
- 16:08Speaker 1: of the items like ice cream, candy, or drinks, or
- 16:12Speaker 1: on the flip side, what are some flavors you avoid
- 16:15Speaker 1: like the plague, and you always wonder why do they
- 16:17Speaker 1: even introduce this flavor in the first place?
- 16:21Speaker 1: Let me know, 669-11987. Let's have some fun with this today.
- 16:24Speaker 1: You can also drop me a message, 90050987. 0 yes,
- 16:28Speaker 1: the internet is in a frenzy right now after Yakot
- 16:31Speaker 1: Singapore has announced, goodbye, orange flavor, hello peach. So they're
- 16:36Speaker 1: replacing orange with peach, which yeah, in theory sounds about right,
- 16:39Speaker 1: because I always had this impression that
- 16:41Speaker 1: The orange flavor was probably the least favorite of all, right?
- 16:44Speaker 1: And I don't think I've ever seen my friends or
- 16:46Speaker 1: even myself pick orange like by choice. In fact, I
- 16:49Speaker 1: was just saying that I just like original, that's it.
- 16:51Speaker 1: So I'm heading to messages first before we head to
- 16:53Speaker 1: the phone lines. Got a lot of cute responses coming through.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Say hi to Adeline. You said, morning, Sonia. Funny thing
- 17:00Speaker 1: was I was just at a Korean restaurant last night
- 17:03Speaker 1: with some of my girlfriends from school, and they actually
- 17:07Speaker 1: give yako as like a post-meal dessert, complimentary, but I
- 17:11Speaker 1: suppose they already included the cost in there, but
- 17:13Speaker 1: Anyway, um, I also enjoy the original flavor. At the most,
- 17:17Speaker 1: if there's no original, I will go for green apple.
- 17:19Speaker 1: That's my next favorite flavor. But in regards to everything else,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I typically like going for chocolate. OK, so I'm assuming
- 17:26Speaker 1: you're talking about like ice cream or milkshakes or other
- 17:29Speaker 1: things like that, right?
- 17:30Speaker 1: OK, I'm also saying hi here dude. You didn't delete your,
- 17:33Speaker 1: your full name, but CY dropped us a message saying, hey, Sonia, honestly,
- 17:37Speaker 1: I'm quite bummed because orange flavor is always the rejected
- 17:41Speaker 1: one and my family will always take everything and leave
- 17:43Speaker 1: the orange one for me. As a result, I'll have
- 17:45Speaker 1: a plenty, plenty of stock of orange flavored yaku in
- 17:49Speaker 1: my fridge. Well, hey, the good news is I think
- 17:52Speaker 1: you still have um a little under a month or
- 17:54Speaker 1: about a month.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I can't recall when was the date that they're really
- 17:58Speaker 1: pulling it off the shelves, but if you want to
- 17:59Speaker 1: stock up, this is the time. I guess it's just
- 18:02Speaker 1: that with probiotic drinks and yogurt type of drinks, you
- 18:05Speaker 1: can't keep it for that long, right? It still has
- 18:07Speaker 1: a shelf life even though it's sealed, so.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, stock up while you can, that's for sure. When
- 18:11Speaker 1: we come back, we're heading to the phone lines and
- 18:13Speaker 1: more of your messages. There's plenty of time for you
- 18:17Speaker 1: to drop me your stories and your opinions, 669-11987 or
- 18:20Speaker 1: drop me a WhatsApp message and let me know. When
- 18:23Speaker 1: it comes down to flavors, could be of drinks, desserts, food, whatever.
- 18:27Speaker 1: What are some flavors you absolutely love or you really detest?
- 18:31Speaker 1: Like you just wonder why did they even release this flavor? Now,
- 18:34Speaker 1: we're talking about different types of flavors when it comes
- 18:37Speaker 1: to your desserts, food, drinks. What is something that you
- 18:40Speaker 1: gravitate towards and what are some flavors that you absolutely avoid?
- 18:44Speaker 1: And you wonder sometimes why and how did it even
- 18:47Speaker 1: become a flavor that's marketed out to the public in
- 18:49Speaker 1: the first place. All this inspired by Yakut Singapore swapping
- 18:53Speaker 1: out orange for peach, and it was so funny because
- 18:56Speaker 1: I was just cracking up some of the comments, right? Um,
- 18:59Speaker 1: some funny Singaporeans were saying, how dare they not how
- 19:02Speaker 1: dare they not consult us before making the change? I'm devastated. Uh,
- 19:07Speaker 1: the internet is very split. Some people are saying, uh,
- 19:09Speaker 1: no loss lah, you know, no one wants the orange
- 19:11Speaker 1: flavor anyway.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Some mothers are saying, no, I love the orange so much.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So I wanted to find out from you, what are
- 19:17Speaker 1: some flavors you love and hate. Um, saying hi here
- 19:20Speaker 1: first to Ann. You said, morning, Sonia. This is the
- 19:23Speaker 1: only ice cream I eat, and they, I hope that
- 19:26Speaker 1: they will come back to the shelf. Um, they will
- 19:28Speaker 1: come back every year during this period. It's super good.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And I zoomed in on the picture. It's actually a
- 19:34Speaker 1: strawberry Haagen-Dazs crispy sandwich version. Oh, so it's like a wafer.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Kind of situation. I have to say, I don't usually
- 19:41Speaker 1: gravitate towards strawberry flavored things, but Haagen-Dazs ice cream in
- 19:46Speaker 1: strawberry flavor? Yeah, it hits the spot, I have to say,
- 19:48Speaker 1: because you can actually taste that original flavors of strawberries
- 19:53Speaker 1: and there are strawberry chunks in there as well, right?
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, so thank you for making me crave this, but
- 19:58Speaker 1: I think you just showed me a screen grab that
- 20:01Speaker 1: you are probably going to order it very soon. It
- 20:04Speaker 1: could be in season because when I went to France,
- 20:06Speaker 1: it was like berry season. So, cherries were also in season, blueberries,
- 20:11Speaker 1: strawberries were super in season. In fact, they were selling
- 20:14Speaker 1: it quite cheap because um they're really ripe and all
- 20:19Speaker 1: the fruits are being harvested like constantly, right? So they
- 20:21Speaker 1: want to get rid of the stock as much as
- 20:22Speaker 1: they can. They can't keep it for too long because
- 20:24Speaker 1: it's very ripe.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So, uh, to end, if you love strawberry, next time
- 20:28Speaker 1: you go to Europe, go during the summertime. Wow, the
- 20:30Speaker 1: strawberries hit the spot. It's different, OK? Really hits different. Um, OK,
- 20:35Speaker 1: we're going to the phone lines right now before getting
- 20:37Speaker 1: back to your messages. Karissa, what about you? Uh, I
- 20:41Speaker 1: usually go for simple things like vanilla. Me too. That's
- 20:45Speaker 1: about it. Pistachio ice cream. Oh, same, same, same.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I wonder what it is about other flavors that I
- 20:51Speaker 1: don't gravitate towards them at all, you know. Yeah, I
- 20:54Speaker 1: just stick with what I'm comfortable with, like what I've
- 20:57Speaker 1: been eating since, I guess. Then what is it about
- 21:00Speaker 1: the green apple and even the grape that turns you
- 21:04Speaker 1: away when it comes to the yucco flavors? Because I
- 21:06Speaker 1: know a lot of our listeners so far are saying,
- 21:09Speaker 1: do not take away green apple and grape. They'll be
- 21:10Speaker 1: very sad.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Actually, green apple is really good, but grape tastes like medicine,
- 21:15Speaker 1: so that might stir. Yeah, I know that's the thing.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I was like, I might be stirring the pot also,
- 21:23Speaker 1: but I personally don't like the grape. So somehow we
- 21:26Speaker 1: have very similar taste buds. Karissa, thank you so much
- 21:29Speaker 1: for your call. I'm just on the phone lines right now,
- 21:31Speaker 1: but I wanted to hit to our messages first. Got
- 21:33Speaker 1: a lot of hilarious ones coming through, all inspired by
- 21:36Speaker 1: Yakut Singapore replacing orange with peach and the internet is
- 21:40Speaker 1: up in arms right now. They're split.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Um, some people love the idea, some people hate it.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Brand has come through with a message here saying, morning, Sonia.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Can you tell McDonald's to please bring back that grape jam?
- 21:51Speaker 1: I love the grape flavored jam. I'm missing it so much.
- 21:54Speaker 1: They swapped it to strawberry, and I actually stopped having
- 21:57Speaker 1: big breakfast ever since. Oh no, because of the grape jam,
- 22:00Speaker 1: are you for real? OK, well, um, I don't know
- 22:02Speaker 1: if anyone from McDonald's is tuning in right now, but, uh,
- 22:05Speaker 1: if you want to gain brand back as a customer,
- 22:08Speaker 1: bring back the grape jam.
- 22:09Speaker 1: That's the question today. What are some flavors you gravitate
- 22:12Speaker 1: towards or some that you really absolutely hate? Gonna say
- 22:16Speaker 1: hi here to, oh, you didn't leave your name. I'm
- 22:18Speaker 1: just gonna call you H according to your, uh, your
- 22:21Speaker 1: WhatsApp username. Morning, Sonia. Actually, the change of flavor or
- 22:25Speaker 1: change of anything will cause an uprising from the consumers
- 22:29Speaker 1: because you can't please everyone.
- 22:30Speaker 1: They come up with a different flavor of yaku, it's
- 22:32Speaker 1: a good innovation. But to totally remove the orange is
- 22:35Speaker 1: not great. Everyone likes their own flavor. When I was young,
- 22:39Speaker 1: the original is the one that I don't drink, but
- 22:41Speaker 1: now I do because I prefer it less sweet now.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I used to drink, uh, lots of drinks in a
- 22:46Speaker 1: coffee shop, you know, almond drinks and all that. They
- 22:48Speaker 1: used to pour it from a plastic bottle. They don't
- 22:50Speaker 1: sell it in Singapore coffee shops anymore, but the best
- 22:53Speaker 1: flavor yet, but the best is the flavor that you're
- 22:57Speaker 1: used to. For example, durian ramen, who likes that, but
- 23:00Speaker 1: other people like it, right? I hate it, but other
- 23:03Speaker 1: people like it. So, in conclusion, it's just your own
- 23:06Speaker 1: preference and they shouldn't remove it completely.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Wow, that was a long one. Thank you so much
- 23:10Speaker 1: for your message. I, I think you're very passionate about
- 23:13Speaker 1: the different flavors and the fact that they're removing it completely.
- 23:16Speaker 1: We're heading back to the phone lines in just a bit. Now,
- 23:18Speaker 1: when it comes to flavors, I think we're very particular
- 23:20Speaker 1: about it because it's something so personal, right? Like I,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I was just sharing that I find myself not being
- 23:25Speaker 1: too adventurous with like ice cream flavors.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Or even chocolate flavors. I know that there have been
- 23:32Speaker 1: some brands in the recent years, they come up with
- 23:33Speaker 1: like local inspired chocolates. I'm not gonna lie, I saw one,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I think I actually received it as part of a gift.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It was like, um, bakute chocolate. I'm like, huh, I
- 23:44Speaker 1: don't really know. OK, I didn't end up trying it. Um,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I can't imagine how there's, you know, savory sometimes could
- 23:50Speaker 1: combine well with like dark chocolate, you know, or.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I don't know, orange and chocolate. Some people hate it,
- 23:56Speaker 1: some people love it, mint chocolate, you know, I think,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I think Joakim loves it actually, if I'm not wrong.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Some people find it that find that it tastes like toothpaste, right?
- 24:04Speaker 1: So it's very subjective. Angela is on the line right now.
- 24:07Speaker 1: What is something that you gravitate towards or you absolutely dislike?
- 24:11Speaker 1: All this inspired by Yakub swapping out their flavors. Growing
- 24:15Speaker 1: up as a child, my favorite was always like.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Grape followed by orange, green apple, and original. OK, so
- 24:23Speaker 1: orange is quite up in there. It's quite high up. Yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 1: it's quite high up and because you know, like, there's
- 24:30Speaker 1: only one of each flavor except the original. So growing
- 24:34Speaker 1: up as a child,
- 24:35Speaker 2: I have two brothers and then we always fight for the,
- 24:39Speaker 2: for the grapes.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And who usually wins? You mean they don't let you win.
- 24:41Speaker 1: You're the only sister.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I'm the oldest. Oh, OK,
- 24:45Speaker 2: so hierarchy, that's
- 24:46Speaker 2: a hierarchy.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but the thing is, sometimes it's like pass the
- 24:51Speaker 2: fingers first, you know.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I understand. I, when I have meals with
- 24:56Speaker 1: my friends that have siblings, right, it feels like a
- 24:58Speaker 1: war sometimes. I don't know what they're rushing for, but
- 25:00Speaker 1: they're always rushing to finish like the food on the plate.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they
- 25:06Speaker 1: It's like sometimes you get home, you open the fridge, hey,
- 25:09Speaker 1: the middle one is gone.
- 25:12Speaker 1: So it's like bummer, you know, so the second one
- 25:15Speaker 1: that I would go for would be the orange, but
- 25:18Speaker 1: I don't remember what my brothers liked as their second choice,
- 25:23Speaker 1: but yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 1: That's that. Yeah, but what about the people around you,
- 25:27Speaker 1: like your loved ones and stuff? Is there anything they
- 25:29Speaker 1: avoid or they love?
- 25:33Speaker 1: There's one thing that I absolutely hate ever since I
- 25:37Speaker 1: was a child.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Uh, great.
- 25:43Speaker 1: No one from FNN is tuning in.
- 25:46Speaker 1: And thank you so much for being so passionate about
- 25:49Speaker 1: flavors this morning, all inspired by big conversation, how the
- 25:52Speaker 1: internet is split right now about Yaku swapping up orange
- 25:55Speaker 1: for peach. And while you would think like, oh, most
- 25:58Speaker 1: people's reaction would be positive, right? But
- 26:00Speaker 1: It seems to have brought out a segment of the
- 26:03Speaker 1: audience that really loves orange flavored things. Although a lot
- 26:07Speaker 1: of my friends around me don't like orange flavored anything,
- 26:10Speaker 1: to be honest, um, except orange juice, but that's about it, right? Every,
- 26:13Speaker 1: everyone else really dislikes that artificial orange taste. I personally
- 26:16Speaker 1: I'm OK with it, but like I mentioned earlier, I'm
- 26:19Speaker 1: a bit of a boring person when it comes to
- 26:20Speaker 1: flavors because if it's ice cream, it's got to be vanilla,
- 26:24Speaker 1: because that's the mark of how good the ice cream
- 26:26Speaker 1: shop is, in my opinion.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Anyway, today, only 1 person can walk away with a
- 26:30Speaker 1: $100 dining experience thanks to Wild Seed Cafe at One
- 26:34Speaker 1: Flower Hill, and it goes to Carissa. Congratulations.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I told you all about One Flower Hill at Sentosa
- 26:41Speaker 1: introducing their new wafu dining concept, Wild Seed Cafe and
- 26:45Speaker 1: Bar and Grill. I really hope you enjoy yourself there
- 26:47Speaker 1: and follow them up on Instagram, Oneflowerhill.sg. We are celebrating
- 26:52Speaker 1: Father's Day very soon. As you know, uh, my dad
- 26:55Speaker 1: and I, we're like besties. Love him so much and
- 26:58Speaker 1: I really wish that he could enjoy this, but no,
- 27:00Speaker 1: we want to give this to you, you and your dad.
- 27:03Speaker 1: to enjoy this Father's Day. So we got Elvin on
- 27:05Speaker 1: the line right now. Elvin, hello, good morning.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Hi, good morning, Sonia.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Hello, how are you
- 27:10Speaker 2: today? I'm good. It's been a rainy morning, I guess.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I can
- 27:13Speaker 2: hear it.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Everyone who has called me so far, I
- 27:16Speaker 1: hear the rain coming down on the car windshield and
- 27:19Speaker 1: all that. Drive safe, please. So, Father's Day coming up
- 27:22Speaker 1: very soon. Are you personally a dad as well? Uh,
- 27:25Speaker 1: not at the moment. Not at the moment. OK, same. Yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 1: I'm not a parent either, but
- 27:30Speaker 1: We want our parents to enjoy, right? Especially Father's Day,
- 27:32Speaker 1: Mother's Day, and all that. It's coming up very soon
- 27:34Speaker 1: for Father's Day. Tell us, what are three things in
- 27:38Speaker 1: your dad's starter pack that sums your dad up the best?
- 27:41Speaker 1: It can be iconic things that he says, does, or,
- 27:44Speaker 1: you know, things that he always wears. What is it
- 27:46Speaker 1: that identifies your dad the best?
- 27:47Speaker 2: So,
- 27:48Speaker 2: Uh, my dad loves collar polotis, right, um, with specific
- 27:53Speaker 2: sports brand, so he wears that so often, and, uh,
- 27:57Speaker 2: second item will be one of his favorite shoes. It's, uh,
- 28:01Speaker 2: I don't know if I can say the brand, but yeah,
- 28:03Speaker 2: there's this one particular brand that starts with H. It's
- 28:06Speaker 2: really comfortable.
- 28:08Speaker 2: And the last one,
- 28:10Speaker 2: yeah, the last item is the most iconic item ever.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Whoever knows him would definitely know it. He needs to
- 28:18Speaker 2: carry a comb with him around every single
- 28:22Speaker 2: time. A comb.
- 28:23Speaker 1: And where is this comb from? Is it like a
- 28:26Speaker 1: old school type of comb?
- 28:27Speaker 2: Uh, OK, so it's like the, yes, old school kind
- 28:30Speaker 2: of comb.
- 28:30Speaker 2: I'm not sure if you know, you know that's this
- 28:32Speaker 2: SQ com, the blue one, yeah, the blue one specifically that.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So before he takes any photograph, right, he will need
- 28:41Speaker 2: to pick up a comb and he starts back swiping
- 28:43Speaker 2: his hair.
- 28:46Speaker 1: That is so cute. Alvin. I have a sensitive question
- 28:48Speaker 1: to ask. Does he have a lot of hair?
- 28:51Speaker 2: He does. He, he actually just turned 70 yesterday. It was, uh, yeah, we,
- 28:57Speaker 2: we love him so much. My family loves him so much.
- 28:59Speaker 2: He's a pillar of the family for so many years
- 29:02Speaker 2: of us and also right now I just want to
- 29:04Speaker 2: give back to him and all, make sure that he
- 29:05Speaker 2: gets the best.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I love that. You know what, I wish we had
- 29:08Speaker 1: a comb in this Father's Day starter pack right now.
- 29:12Speaker 1: We don't, but what we do have is this Father's
- 29:15Speaker 1: Day experience. It's a bundle worth over $700. It's yours.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Congratulations. Yeah, what you're enjoying is a one night stay
- 29:26Speaker 1: over at Hotel Waterloo, Singapore. Tickets to attractions in Sentosa,
- 29:29Speaker 1: dining experience at Rice Restaurant at MBS, Skyer Premium Power
- 29:33Speaker 1: bank from Metapo. Almost, I swear, this is gonna be
- 29:37Speaker 1: like the best weekend of your dad's life.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Congratulations.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Sonia. My dad would love it.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Appreciate it.
- 29:44Speaker 1: All right,
- 29:45Speaker 2: have a good one with him.
