Speaker 1: It is the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: Just ahead we talk to HADAVP A lot of letters there.
• 0:16
Speaker 1: That would be Rochelle Salinas about a throwdown luxury ride and drive event next weekend.
• 0:23
Speaker 1: And she may challenge me when I say throwdown luxury ride and drive event next weekend.
• 0:25
Speaker 1: And she may challenge me when I say throwdown, because what I mean is that it appears as though this just happened and it's going to pop up.
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: It's a pop-up ride and drive.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: There you go, jeff has the cruise in and events calendars and I'll bring you stories making automotive news headlines this week.
• 0:39
Speaker 1: Howdy, along with Mike out of this world, mars.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: We always need more Jeff Seacon.
• 0:43
Speaker 1: Chief Engineer David Ainsley, I'm Don Armstrong, glad you could join us on this Saturday.
• 0:47
Speaker 1: Let's get right to it.
• 0:48
Speaker 1: Did you like it?
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: It's kind of a pop-up.
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: It's a pop-up ride and drive, rochelle.
• 0:53
  Speaker 2: That's pretty accurate.
• 0:55
  Speaker 2: Well put, Don.
• 0:58
Speaker 1: Well, he didn't do anything.
• 0:59
Speaker 1: It was Jeff that came up with because I get this press release in the middle of the week.
• 1:05
Speaker 1: This past week for Rochelle, I'm going what she usually has this stuff three months, two months, one month in advance.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: Oh no, this is a week and a half.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: It's still a week, all right, so explain yourself out of this one.
• 1:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, no problem, because we're really looking at ways to bring the auto show to the rest of the year and in looking at feedback from the auto show that happened in January, we know there are some missing brands that people really wanted to see and experience in that same low-pressure environment.
• 1:35
Speaker 2: And so we brought some of these luxury brands together with Evolve Houston because we're going to have some EVs there and Modern Luxury Magazine, who's helping us bring that luxury element to the whole event, and we're going to be at the Revere on May 9th and 10th, friday and Saturday from 10 to 2.
• 1:54
Speaker 1: What is the Revere you can?
• 1:55
Speaker 2: come and test drive about eight or nine different brands of luxury vehicles that they didn't get to see at the auto show.
• 2:01
Speaker 1: So what is the Revere?
• 2:03
Speaker 2: The Revere is a new event venue off of Old Katy Road and 610.
• 2:07
Speaker 2: So just before you go under 610, right there at Old Katy Road, it's an event venue kind of near the Design Center.
• 2:15
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's over there on Old Katy Road just down from the Star Motor Cars Mercedes-Benz dealership.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: We land at Star Motors every once in a while, when we need a place to.
• 2:24
Speaker 2: Oh, that's right, you do use that helicopter pad.
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a helicopter pad there, so I'll have to look for it.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: I did not know that it was there.
• 2:31
Speaker 1: Well, that is very cool.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: That's very exciting and a convenient place, actually, once you learn how to get there.
• 2:38
Speaker 1: The easiest way is to go down Old Katy Road.
• 2:42
  Speaker 2: That's right.
• 2:43
Speaker 1: And people don't even know that it's there.
• 2:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's good because it's in a central location but there's not a lot of traffic, so you can take a quality test drive all the way up Old Katy Road and back and you've got a nice little six-minute loop of a test drive and we've routed out a map for 10 minutes if you need a longer experience.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: That is so cool, Okay, so let's talk about the vehicles.
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: Now.
• 3:05
Speaker 1: There's one in particular that kind of stands out for me, and that's the Maserati Experience.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: Okay, I'll take one.
• 3:13
Speaker 2: Good yeah, we're going to have the Grisellas there for Maserati, and Alfa Romeo is also going to bring that new Tonalist, the hybrid or EV model from Alpha Romeo.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Well, we like to call that the toenail.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: But that's okay, Go ahead.
• 3:28
Speaker 2: I drove it at your Texas Auto Riders Spring Roundup.
• 3:32
Speaker 2: It was a pretty sweet ride.
• 3:34
Speaker 2: It is actually, yes, I was excited to have it on this lineup too.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: Good, good, I'm glad to see that.
• 3:38
Speaker 1: So tell me about these brands that decided to join in on this thing.
• 3:47
Speaker 2: Well, they're definitely the higher-end models and some that we didn't have at the auto show.
• 3:49
Speaker 2: So we're gonna have, uh, the neos grenadier.
• 3:52
Speaker 2: It was at the auto show but it's been a hot ticket item for sure since it's come onto the market and, having a houston dealership, we'll have the hummer ev.
• 4:01
Speaker 2: Uh, we'll also have Porsche there with at least two models, possibly four.
• 4:05
Speaker 2: They're going to bring the Macan EV and the Taycan, and then Mercedes is bringing a full lineup the EQS sedan EV, the GLE plug-in hybrid, the GLS and an E-Class, and then on display they'll have the EV G-Wagon and a Maybach.
• 4:24
Speaker 2: So Mercedes is really.
• 4:25
Speaker 2: You know, they don't have far to come to participate down the street.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: Are there going to be complimentary cigars and champagne to hand out?
• 4:33
  Speaker 2: That's a great idea.
• 4:34
Speaker 2: I'll work on that.
• 4:35
  Speaker 1: Yeah, do that.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: I'll take the champagne and pass on the cigars, but I think that they kind of Some strawberries and a little bit of chocolate.
• 4:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, strawberries and chocolate.
• 4:42
Speaker 2: We'll have to serve the champagne after the test drive.
• 4:44
Speaker 2: Well, of course, yeah, I know that's right.
• 4:51
Speaker 1: Well, I'll have my chauffeur supply some in the backseat of my limousine as I'm heading there.
• 4:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, ineos Lucid is going to be there.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: Yes, they're going to bring the new gravity model, and I know people are eager to see that in person as well.
• 5:08
Speaker 2: Okay, so when is this event take place?
• 5:09
Speaker 2: So this is going to be next this coming Friday and Saturday, may 9th and May 10th at the Rivera on Old Katy Road, from 9 am to 2 pm.
• 5:16
Speaker 2: You can get tickets online, sign your online waiver and then you show up.
• 5:20
Speaker 2: It's only eight dollars to participate and you we definitely have walk-ups too, so you can come and participate that same day without buying your ticket in advance.
• 5:31
Speaker 2: Just come and visit us on May 9th or 10th.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: That is so cool, and I guess that there will be dealers there, or how is that going to work?
• 5:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, so all of these brands that are participating are coming from local dealerships, so they will have their product specialists with the vehicles to talk about them, to take you on that test drive, to make you knowledgeable.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: But it's still a low-pressure environment where you're going to compare all of these different models in one place.
• 5:57
Speaker 1: And I assume that all these dealers are really biting the bullet here, trying to get these things together and going to have a really spectacular event for the high-end, highbrow crowd sort of like you yeah, and you know we've made it very low entry for our dealerships to participate too.
• 6:16
Speaker 2: All they have to do is bring the vehicles and the and the product specialists, so it's really easy for them to sign on at the last minute.
• 6:22
Speaker 2: So we're still even adding some brands.
• 6:24
Speaker 2: I'm'm waiting to hear back from Infinity on Monday.
• 6:26
Speaker 2: So we're definitely adding as we go and building upon this event.
• 6:32
Speaker 1: So Friday and Saturday both days are 10 to 2.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: So it's only four hours each day.
• 6:39
Speaker 2: Yes, you've got to get in there.
• 6:40
Speaker 2: Come and don't miss the opportunity.
• 6:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, and are you going to keep the lines down?
• 6:47
Speaker 1: I mean because on Saturday I would think that there'll probably be a line of people wanting to do this.
• 6:53
Speaker 2: I hope so, I really hope so.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: Well, it's a good problem to have.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: Well, I know because you're here on the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: I'm thinking that there's going to be a line of In Wheel Time listeners, viewers, followers out there and they're going to go.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: Well, they told us there may be a line.
• 7:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, those are the ones you check their ID Most definitely yeah, and their health card.
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: There you go.
• 7:15
Speaker 1: I did want to ask you can you buy tickets ahead of time?
• 7:21
Speaker 2: Yes, you can, but you can just get them when you arrive as well.
• 7:24
  Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
• 7:26
Speaker 1: So what question did I miss asking you?
• 7:29
Speaker 2: You definitely need a valid driver's license and you'll have to sign a waiver and you've got to be over 18.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: And proof of insurance is required.
• 7:39
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 7:40
Speaker 1: So you've got to be a real honest to goodness driver.
• 7:42
Speaker 1: You can't be some slug that just walked in off the street.
• 7:45
Speaker 1: Yeah well, you have to be interested in the vehicle too.
• 7:47
Speaker 3: I mean, that would be my guess.
• 7:48
Speaker 2: It's very surprising how many people are riding around with an expired driver's license.
• 7:52
Speaker 2: So we won't accept an expired driver's license.
• 7:56
Speaker 2: It's got to be valid, and if you show up and you only have an expired, then you can just ride along with the product specialist.
• 8:02
Speaker 1: We'll have Steve Woodard from DPS go out there and check driver's licenses.
• 8:06
  Speaker 4: There you go.
• 8:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, he won't accept an expired license.
• 8:08
Speaker 1: No, he will not accept that, and he doesn't accept this show or Don Armstrong.
• 8:12
Speaker 1: So, as a matter of fact, he bailed me out earlier today.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: Well, this sounds like a fun event, kind of a low-key throw-down event.
• 8:19
Speaker 1: A little pop-up, like you said A little pop-up, yeah, pop-up luxury ride and drive.
• 8:23
Speaker 2: We invite everyone to join us at HoustonAutoShowcom.
• 8:26
Speaker 2: Right on our homepage We've got all the info.
• 8:28
Speaker 1: See, I see more of these happening.
• 8:30
Speaker 1: I see more of these happening around town.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: I'm thinking one out there in Katy, one on the south end of town, maybe near Pearland another one up in the Woodlands, one out here in Sugar Land.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: See, you just need me.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: That's what you need for all those ideas.
• 8:46
Speaker 1: Right, yeah, he'll give you plenty to do.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no doubt about it.
• 8:51
Speaker 2: I can't share all my future plans, Don, but there's things in the works.
• 8:55
Speaker 1: You know, I know you and I know that there are Rochelle.
• 8:58
Speaker 1: It's always great to talk to you.
• 8:59
Speaker 1: Thank you, my dear.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: We appreciate you and look forward to learning more about the event after it's over with same guys.
• 9:05
Speaker 4: Thank you for having me on thanks take care huh that would be kind of fun to guess it's.
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: It's a let's go take a drive in a new car.
• 9:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah right, this isn't a car show, this is a ride and drive.
• 9:18
Speaker 1: I mean it's show, but they're all oh everything.
• 9:22
Speaker 4: If the car is parked, it's always a show yeah, but it's not like trying to go into a dealership and get or she did say low pressure, so that's good, but you don't have to change dealerships here.
• 9:33
Speaker 4: You can just go and drive several different ones at the same place.
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: I do too.
• 9:39
Speaker 3: It sounds pretty darn exciting then you can trade in your vet for the next hot rod.
• 9:44
Speaker 3: You know he keeps trying to get you to sell that thing.
• 9:45
Speaker 4: Pretty darn exciting Well then you can trade in your vet for the next hot rod.
• 9:47
Speaker 4: You know he keeps trying to get you to sell that thing.
• 9:49
Speaker 4: I know why do you want me to sell it.
• 9:50
Speaker 3: Let's sell it to Mike Mike's, a Corvette guy.
• 9:52
Speaker 4: Yeah, mike couldn't get that in his driveway.
• 9:55
Speaker 4: You got so many other vehicles Well it's got a little bit of an angle to it where it comes off the curb, but also because there's so many vehicles there, I have a four-car driveway that's holding six cars at the moment.
• 10:06
  Speaker 3: Nice what?
• 10:08
Speaker 3: And a transmission in this bathtub?
• 10:10
  Speaker 4: Why?
• 10:10
Speaker 4: Because that's how many cars we have there right now.
• 10:13
  Speaker 4: What?
• 10:13
Speaker 1: is this the family compound Part of it?
• 10:16
  Speaker 1: Yeah, gee whiz.
• 10:17
Speaker 1: Well, it must be nice Like those rogue preachers out there in West Texas Rogue preachers out there in West.
• 10:25
Speaker 3: Texas Rogue preachers no.
• 10:27
Speaker 1: Amen you know I do have some recalls to tell you about that.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: I thought I'd sneak in here if I may.
• 10:33
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to sneak it and then I think that we'll do a little short version of the Hemings sold cars roundup.

Speaker 1: So here are the recalls.

• 10:59
Speaker 1: Is that a real recall?
• 11:00
Speaker 1: Is that an issue?
• 11:00
Speaker 1: The second recall covers unpadded trim parts to limit the width of the seating surface in the third row to two passengers.
• 11:12
  Speaker 4: Say that again.
• 11:14
Speaker 1: They're going to have some.
• 11:15
Speaker 1: There is some unpadded trim parts to limit the width of the seating surface in the third row to two passengers.
• 11:26
Speaker 1: In other words, you're not getting Aunt Clarice back there.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: That weighs 400 pounds.
• 11:31
Speaker 4: They got butt bumpers to keep her from getting there.
• 11:33
  Speaker 1: That's exactly right.
• 11:34
Speaker 1: Put her in the roof tent there you go.
• 11:36
  Speaker 3: That's a good idea.

• 11:56
  Speaker 1: Look at this.
• 11:57
Speaker 1: You want to see them all.
• 11:58
Speaker 1: Let's start here, start here on this page.
• 12:02
Speaker 1: So all of those and then all of these up here.
• 12:06
Speaker 1: I'm not going to bore you with all of that.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: But mercedes-benz is recalling everything acura, mdx 2014 to 2020, vehicle lighting failure and that's a lot of models 2014 to 2020 for the mdx, ford, bronco well, let's, let's just talk about ford in general.

Speaker 1: Not good recalls keep coming loss of steering from front control arm separation.

• 13:12
Speaker 1: So pretty much a lot.
• 13:16
Speaker 3: Can I add something to that?
• 13:17
Speaker 3: You said Mercedes and talking about all the Mercedes, have you seen recently the commercials about Mercedes-Benz and Ford Motor Company on how they're building in America and our factories are great and we've got 2,500 people at this one plant and everything's really good.
• 13:31
Speaker 3: Well, are those the vehicles that they're producing out of these things?
• 13:34
  Speaker 3: I don't know.
• 13:35
Speaker 3: We better look a little deeper into that.
• 13:43
Speaker 1: Oh, we're so great, we're us born, us made.
• 13:44
Speaker 1: And voluntary recall involving 721 000 6.2 liter v8 engines offered in chevrolet and gmc pickups and in all of the company's large suvs.
• 13:52
Speaker 1: The engine made in gm's tonawanda, new york plant, is not just another motor.
• 13:57
Speaker 1: It is the latest evolution of the workhorse Chevy small block V8.
• 14:00
Speaker 1: Gm engineers have been dissecting the failed engines to determine why the motors can suddenly seize.
• 14:06
Speaker 1: Some were just a few hundred miles.
• 14:08
Speaker 1: I have a friend of mine that wound up pulling the lemon card and got the car replaced.
• 14:15
Speaker 1: He wanted his money back.
• 14:17
Speaker 1: They gave him his money back.
• 14:18
Speaker 1: He did not want another vehicle.
• 14:19
Speaker 1: Wow, and a lot of it has to do with engine bearings, like connecting rod bearings, that sort of thing.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: So that's a big, huge mess.
• 14:29
Speaker 1: Good luck to GM on that one.
• 14:31
Speaker 1: Soul car roundup you ready?
• 14:33
Speaker 1: No, I'm looking for right now?
• 14:34
Speaker 3: Oh, there we go.
• 14:34
  Speaker 3: Got it.
• 14:34
Speaker 3: Okay, you ready, mr Mars, that I'm looking for right now.
• 14:36
Speaker 3: Oh, there we go.
• 14:37
  Speaker 1: Got it.

Speaker 1: This has got Jeff Zekin's name written all over it, bad boy, and I want you to take a look at this.
• 14:49
Speaker 1: This, ladies and gentlemen, is the beginnings of the car that was in Family Truckster.
• 14:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, in Family Truckster.
• 15:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, the Family Truckster.
• 15:01
Speaker 3: I've got a couple little postcards of this vehicle, not that color, but I'm saying that's going to be a lot of money, man, that's going to be a lot.
• 15:09
  Speaker 3: I'm thinking $12,000.
• 15:12
Speaker 4: Mars Heitzman says $23,000.
• 15:14
Speaker 4: Let me get that in there first.
• 15:16
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm going to say $16,000, maybe $10,450, and it looks clean and it looks all original, Nice new tires, yeah, that's good.
• 15:25
Speaker 1: The next one up something for you, Mr Morris, to put in your family museum over there.
• 15:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, you got seven cars 1960 Plymouth Suburban.
• 15:34
Speaker 1: I didn't know that Plymouth made a Suburban but apparently they do.
• 15:36
Speaker 3: That looks pretty cool.
• 15:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if it runs or not, it doesn't look like it does.
• 15:40
Speaker 1: Yeah, nice project, no reserve, no reserve.
• 15:43
Speaker 1: So guess how much that sold for $6,000.
• 15:46
Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, no.
• 15:47
  Speaker 4: I'm going to say $12,000.
• 15:48
  Speaker 1: $12,000.
• 15:50
  Speaker 1: I can't believe.
• 15:51
  Speaker 4: This is Hennings.
• 15:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't believe they did that.
• 16:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, somebody wanted it Set no reserve.
• 16:10
Speaker 1: The next one up is a 1930 Ford Model A.
• 16:13
Speaker 1: It looks like it's been completely restored Classic.
• 16:16
  Speaker 1: I mean, it's a Model A, for God's sakes.
• 16:18
  Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
• 16:19
Speaker 1: Uh-huh, how much do you think that that's sold for?
• 16:21
  Speaker 3: $21,000.
• 16:22
  Speaker 3: That's high.
• 16:24
Speaker 3: That's probably too high.
• 16:25
Speaker 4: I'm going to go for $18,000.
• 16:29
Speaker 3: That might even be high Sold for $15,750.
• 16:34
Speaker 1: I never thought in a million years that you could buy one for that price.
• 16:37
Speaker 1: That 15 might be a little high, you know, jeff.
• 16:40
Speaker 4: There's really not much of a market for those antiques that are like that.
• 16:43

• 24:22
Speaker 1: The executive orders will prevent the stacking of tariffs, such as those on auto parts, and steel and aluminum.
• 24:29
Speaker 1: Importers will no longer have to pay both tariffs at the same time because they're already tariffed.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: So if the new tariff is 25%, that's what they'll have to pay, not 25% or plus something that was in place prior.

• 25:36
Speaker 1: Hyundai 12.5% increase in the past four months.
• 25:42
Speaker 1: Let's see, I gave you Mazda, subaru up 6.8%.
• 25:48
  Speaker 1: I mean it's pretty remarkable.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: Actually, general Motors expects President Trump's import tariffs to cut its profits by up to $5 billion this year, even after changes to ease the burden on automakers with US plants were announced.
• 26:04

• 26:34
  Speaker 1: Probably Good point.
• 26:34
Speaker 1: Former general manager of an Indiana dealership has been accused of stealing.
