Speaker 3: at the weather forecast, that may not be a good thing.
• 1:46
Speaker 3: Little snow flurry or two here in the Charleston area,
• 1:48
Speaker 3: actually some snow squalls in some areas. We get some

• 2:08
Speaker 3: good news for the Charleston Christmas Parade, but then it's
• 2:11
Speaker 3: going to turn ugly overnight and for the morning commute,
• 2:14
Speaker 3: with more snow on the way throughout the day tomorrow
• 2:16
Speaker 3: and a lot more snow is what they're saying Saturday

• 2:56
Speaker 3: good morning, welcome to the show.
• 2:58
Speaker 4: Hey, good morning, glad to be here. I'm happy to
• 3:01
Speaker 4: see you again. It's been a while, but a while.
• 3:02
Speaker 3: Great to have you in the studio. It's congratulations on
• 3:05
Speaker 3: the new dog by the way, thank you. Uh he
• 3:07
Speaker 3: brought his dog with him today and uh and that's
• 3:10
Speaker 3: it's pretty cool. What's the dog's name? Jud jud Okay,
• 3:14
Speaker 3: I got to ask a story. Where'd the name come from?
• 3:16
Speaker 4: Okay, So I had a dog before who was named
• 3:18
Speaker 4: Creed and he was named after the family from pet
• 3:21
Speaker 4: Cemetery by Stephen King and Judd was the neighbor. So okay,
• 3:24
Speaker 4: I stuck with a theme, keeping keeping that theme going. Allright,
• 3:27
Speaker 4: let's talk about this production that you got going on
• 3:29
Speaker 4: at the Album Theater. What is it?
• 3:30
Speaker 3: And tell me all about it.
• 3:31
Speaker 4: I can do that. So we're doing Inspecting Carol. It
• 3:34
Speaker 4: opens tomorrow. If you want to get tickets, and I
• 3:38
Speaker 4: highly suggest you do, go to the Alban Arts Center
• 3:42
Speaker 4: website and those tickets are They were doing Friday, Saturday,
• 3:45
Speaker 4: Sunday this weekend and next. So, like I said, the
• 3:49
Speaker 4: show's Inspecting Carol. It is a really really funny show
• 3:53
Speaker 4: with a great ensemble cast, and it's about a local
• 3:58
Speaker 4: theater troupe that's putting together their annual production of a
• 4:01
Speaker 4: Christmas Carol, and everything that could go wrong goes wrong,
• 4:06
Speaker 4: and so chaos and sues. They're being always.
• 4:09
Speaker 3: Love it when you say chaos and.
• 4:10
Speaker 4: Sus chaos and zues, I mean, you know what more
• 4:13
Speaker 4: fun can you have when that happens. So an inspector
• 4:17
Speaker 4: from the government, from the NEA, the National Endowment for
• 4:20
Speaker 4: the Arts is supposedly coming to watch to see whether
• 4:23
Speaker 4: or not they're going to get their money. And if
• 4:25
Speaker 4: anybody has ever dealt with local theater troops, you know
• 4:28
Speaker 4: that every dollar is important. So they're freaking out. They're
• 4:32
Speaker 4: trying to accommodate who they think is the inspector, and yeah,
• 4:37
Speaker 4: so everything just goes off the rails.
• 4:39
Speaker 3: I'm not familiar with this production. Is this pretty I mean,
• 4:42
Speaker 3: I mean this other place is pretty pretty popular production.
• 4:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, it came out in the early nineties. I think
• 4:49
Speaker 4: the first show was in Seattle, if I'm not mistaken,
• 4:53
Speaker 4: and so it's been done a few times around the country.
• 4:56
Speaker 4: I can't think of any like major you're you know,
• 5:00
Speaker 4: like off Broadway or anything, but I know it's it's
• 5:04
Speaker 4: a lot of local places do it, local theater troops
• 5:06
Speaker 4: obviously because of the subject matter. So yeah, it seems
• 5:10
Speaker 4: to be popular. I hadn't heard of it either until
• 5:13
Speaker 4: until you know, auditions for it, and it's just hilarious.
• 5:17
Speaker 4: I as soon as I read it, I was like,
• 5:19
Speaker 4: oh wow, because there's so much there's there are great
• 5:21
Speaker 4: jokes in there, but there's a great physical comedy as well,
• 5:25
Speaker 4: and and it was a blast doing it, so it
• 5:27
Speaker 4: should be very entertaining.
• 5:29
Speaker 3: Who are some of the other folks from the area
• 5:30
Speaker 3: that are going to be in the production.
• 5:31
Speaker 4: Jeff Okay, so Jeff Bukovinski is in it. I know
• 5:35
Speaker 4: Jeff does a lot of local productions. Stuart Frasier's of
• 5:40
Speaker 4: course the director. Oh wow, Why am I like suddenly
• 5:48
Speaker 4: like that on me?
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: No?
• 5:49
Speaker 4: No, that that was like, I'm I've been thinking of
• 5:52
Speaker 4: their character names so much.
• 5:55
Speaker 3: But I'm like, what you should do? You should?
• 5:59
Speaker 4: I'm so alright, Yeah, there are several and if any
• 6:04
Speaker 4: of you are listening, I do know your actual names.
• 6:08
  Speaker 4: It's all.
• 6:08
Speaker 3: It's all good. We want people to buy it to
• 6:10
Speaker 3: the characters more than the individuals anyway. But the bottom
• 6:13
Speaker 3: line is there's a lot of actors in his play,
• 6:15
Speaker 3: Jeff that people in the Canal Valley are going.
• 6:17
Speaker 4: To know the guy. I've acted with several of them before,
• 6:20
Speaker 4: we've worked together or seen them and other things, so
• 6:23
Speaker 4: you'll definitely recognize many of the faces. So we do
• 6:26
Speaker 4: have the young man that's playing tiny Well Luther and
• 6:31
Speaker 4: then tiny Tim within the play is that he's never
• 6:37
Speaker 4: acted before. This is his first time doing it and
• 6:41
Speaker 4: it's been fun, you know, watching him kind of helping,
• 6:44
Speaker 4: and everybody's been so great about giving tips and working together.
• 6:48
  Speaker 4: It's it's been a really fun show. I've enjoyed it.
• 6:50
Speaker 3: Now, I've known you for some time and you've done
• 6:53
Speaker 3: a lot of different things in your life. Why acting,
• 6:56
  Speaker 3: I mean, because you've had a lot of me You've
• 6:57
Speaker 3: done You've had many hats over the years, and I
• 6:59
Speaker 3: didn't know that you were into the acting. Thing. That
• 7:01
Speaker 3: said something that I learned today. But what is it
• 7:03
Speaker 3: about doing these productions? It appeals to you.
• 7:06
Speaker 4: So I started acting when I was maybe around ten
• 7:10
Speaker 4: or so, in church productions and like church plays and
• 7:13
Speaker 4: skits and then small school productions or skits and whatnot,
• 7:18
Speaker 4: and I just I loved it, and I intended initially
• 7:25
Speaker 4: at least, to try to pursue acting as a career,
• 7:28
Speaker 4: and of course, you know, it's insanely difficult to break
• 7:32
Speaker 4: in to actually make money or make a career of it.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: So I kept doing stuff and taking acting classes and
• 7:39
Speaker 4: things in college, and then started working in the political arena,
• 7:43
Speaker 4: where you know, I did most of my work, and
• 7:47
Speaker 4: you know, minus being in the military. Like you said,
• 7:49
  Speaker 4: many hats.
• 7:50
Speaker 3: But thank you for your service, by.
• 7:51
Speaker 4: The way, Oh absolutely, it was my pleasure to do it.
• 7:54
Speaker 4: So I you know, just did things over the years.
• 7:57
Speaker 4: I didn't act for several years when I was in
• 8:00
Speaker 4: the army and things, and then when I moved back here,
• 8:05
Speaker 4: well I moved back here in twenty fourteen, but in
• 8:07
Speaker 4: twenty twenty a friend of mine asked me to be
• 8:11
Speaker 4: in a Shakespeare production and I was like, well, I
• 8:13
Speaker 4: haven't really acted in several years, but why not. And
• 8:16
Speaker 4: I did it and immediately it was like, oh, yeah,
• 8:19
Speaker 4: this is I remember how much I love doing this.
• 8:21
Speaker 4: And so I've done a few shows every year since
• 8:26
  Speaker 4: since then.
• 8:27
Speaker 3: So I think, sometimes, Jeff, I think they forget that
• 8:30
Speaker 3: they don't think about Charleston, and I mean the Kanaha
• 8:33
Speaker 3: Valley in general, but there's always something going on production wise,
• 8:36
Speaker 3: play wise, you know that for a theater. There's always
• 8:39
Speaker 3: something going on in Charleston everywhere from the you know.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: And we're going to talk to the symphony a little
• 8:43
Speaker 3: bit later on, and I know that's totally different. But
• 8:45
Speaker 3: my point is that we have a very thriving art
• 8:47
Speaker 3: scene in general here in the Kanahua Valley.
• 8:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, we really do. And that was something that was
• 8:53
Speaker 4: in this present when I was younger. I mean, you
• 8:55
Speaker 4: had the bigger ones obviously, but over the last few
• 8:59
Speaker 4: years it looks like across the state, even not just
• 9:02
Speaker 4: not just the valley, but that there are a lot
• 9:05
Speaker 4: more productions, a lot more regular shows instead of just
• 9:08
Speaker 4: one or two a year. And I, you know, I
• 9:11
Speaker 4: try to go out and do do whatever I can.
• 9:15
Speaker 4: I do some stuff with a small troop called tip
• 9:18
Speaker 4: Jar Theater, and we do some dramatic readings and Celtic
• 9:21
Speaker 4: calling and things like that. And we formed from a
• 9:25
Speaker 4: group that had worked together on the Shakespeare Place. So yeah,
• 9:28
Speaker 4: there are plenty of options for folks to get involved,
• 9:32
Speaker 4: even if they don't want to act. You know, we
• 9:34
Speaker 4: always need plays, always need others to help in whatever capacity.
• 9:39
  Speaker 4: They can.
• 9:40
Speaker 3: And the behind the scenes is just as important as
• 9:42
Speaker 3: the people in front of the camera.
• 9:43
Speaker 4: Oh absolutely, absolutely, in some ways more important.
• 9:46
Speaker 3: I said camera met Kurt and I'm sorry.
• 9:48
Speaker 4: I didn't even catch that, but yeah, so yeah, and
• 9:51
Speaker 4: the Albans has some productions and auditions coming up too,
• 9:55
Speaker 4: So while you're on there getting tickets, check it out
• 9:57
Speaker 4: and audition for something, even if you've never done it before,
• 10:00
Speaker 4: or you know, try it out and you might find
• 10:02
Speaker 4: a new hobby or passion.
• 10:04
Speaker 3: There's I mean, I was on the website looking around
• 10:06
Speaker 3: before the interview today, Jeff, and there's all kinds of
• 10:08
Speaker 3: things going on, not just during the Christmas season, but
• 10:10
Speaker 3: throughout the year. I know Landal's bringing his home for
• 10:12
Speaker 3: the Holidays tour there here soon as well, so there's
• 10:16
Speaker 3: always something going on, all right, give us the info
• 10:18
Speaker 3: on the on your particular production, get hit it again
• 10:21
Speaker 3: the time the dates tickets go.
• 10:23
Speaker 4: Yes, so we open tomorrow. We have Friday Saturday Sunday
• 10:29
Speaker 4: shows this weekend and next the eight o'clock Friday Saturday
• 10:34
Speaker 4: two o'clock Sunday. Tickets are on the alban ArtCenter dot com.
• 10:41
Speaker 4: And the show is inspecting Carol. It's a play within
• 10:46
Speaker 4: a play about a local theater troop putting together their
• 10:49
Speaker 4: annual production of a Christmas Carol when everything goes wrong.
• 10:52
Speaker 4: I play Phil in the play and then Bob Cratchit
• 10:56
Speaker 4: in the Christmas Carol part of it, and I'm kind
• 10:59
Speaker 4: of a jerk, and I mean that in character, even
• 11:02
Speaker 4: though you know some might say, yeah, we know that.
• 11:05
Speaker 3: Well, I'm sure you'll do great man, Great to have

Speaker 5: But one of the things that the guys and gals
• 14:43
Speaker 5: wanted to do this year. They wanted to have a
• 14:44
Speaker 5: fundraiser to support the three grade schools that are elementary
• 14:48
Speaker 5: schools that are still left on our side of the river,
• 14:50
Speaker 5: on the East Bank side of the river. And so
• 14:52
Speaker 5: they came up with an idea, let's have a breakfast.
• 14:54
Speaker 5: We're going to do it this Saturday before Christmas on
• 14:56
Speaker 5: December of the twentieth at Marmette Rex Center. They'll be
• 14:59
Speaker 5: at ten dollars ask for a ten dollars contribution, but
• 15:02
Speaker 5: all the money that's raised that day will go to
• 15:04
Speaker 5: those three three elementary schools.
• 15:06
Speaker 4: And so we're inviting.
• 15:08
Speaker 5: Athletes, cheerleaders, major, ratually, everybody their base, got any association
• 15:12
Speaker 5: with East Bank. Judge Hardy will be there. So again
• 15:15
Speaker 5: we think we'll have three four hundred people. Hopefull we
• 15:17
Speaker 5: can raise a lot of money and be able to
• 15:19
Speaker 5: give it back to the grade schools.
• 15:20
Speaker 3: Are you able to rope Jeff Jenkins into this?
• 15:22
Speaker 4: Jeff Jenkins will hopefully we will be there. Yes, Yeah,
• 15:25
Speaker 4: we got to speak.
• 15:26
Speaker 5: Our speakers are going to be I think are our
• 15:28
Speaker 5: master's ceremonies is going to be General Tacket, Proud eas
• 15:30
Speaker 5: Bank guy Chris Massey for a former NFL player, will
• 15:34
Speaker 5: be one of speakers. Also Marshall Grad and Jeff Davenport,
• 15:38
Speaker 5: who was a tech tech grad and then went on
• 15:40
Speaker 5: to play in the Kansas City Baseball in baseball is
• 15:43
Speaker 5: in the Major League. So we'll have a really good crowd.
• 15:46
Speaker 5: We'll have a lot of a membability from East Bank
• 15:48
Speaker 5: that people will be able to buy and look at
• 15:50
Speaker 5: and so forth. So jerseys, hats, pictures and different things.
• 15:53
Speaker 5: So it's going to be a really a really fun.
• 15:55
Speaker 3: Time talk about that. I think sometimes, Larry, what happens
• 16:01
Speaker 3: is is that, you know, communities love to everybody loves
• 16:04
Speaker 3: to reminisce, everybody loves to get together and things of
• 16:06
Speaker 3: that nature. But what I've learned in being with this
• 16:09
Speaker 3: company and being in this market for the last five
• 16:11
Speaker 3: years or so on this show specifically, is that there's
• 16:14
Speaker 3: a certain special pride that comes from from that part
• 16:17
Speaker 3: of the count everybody's proud of their community, at least
• 16:19
Speaker 3: they should be, but you guys from that part of
• 16:22
Speaker 3: the world take it to another level.
• 16:23
Speaker 5: Oh that's really strong, it really is. And so anytime
• 16:26
Speaker 5: you run into an East banker. I was in the
• 16:27
Speaker 5: Eastern Panhandle this week and or this this is back
• 16:30
Speaker 5: in the summer and met someone from me Spank many
• 16:33
  Speaker 5: years ago.
• 16:33
Speaker 4: But yeah, we do have a lot of pride, without
• 16:35
  Speaker 4: a doubt.
• 16:36
Speaker 5: When you go back into particularly in the sixties and
• 16:37
Speaker 5: set fifty sixties and seventies, and even in the eighties,
• 16:41
Speaker 5: we had a lot of state championships and a lot
• 16:43
Speaker 5: of different sports, but mostly baseball and football. It just
• 16:47
Speaker 5: really comes to the sense of community that we have.
• 16:49
Speaker 5: And that's one of the special things about West Virginia itself,
• 16:52
Speaker 5: and I think gets lost by people that are not
• 16:54
Speaker 5: from West Virginia. It's just our pride in the communities.
• 16:57
Speaker 5: And so where we're talking about eat spank, we're talking
• 16:59
Speaker 5: boot upon, we're talk talk about logan. We wear that
• 17:02
Speaker 5: every day of our lives.
• 17:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think when you when you move away
• 17:07
Speaker 3: from those areas, it even manifests itself even more. I mean,
• 17:12
Speaker 3: I mean you feel it even stronger. I think bond
• 17:15
Speaker 3: with it when you're maybe not necessarily there anymore because
• 17:18
  Speaker 3: you're thinking that's that's my home area.
• 17:20
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: Let's talk about some of those teams over the years
• 17:23
Speaker 3: at East Bank, not specifically the teams, but about the
• 17:26
Speaker 3: success that they had over theirship because, as you said, Larry,
• 17:28
Speaker 3: they had a lot of success, A lot of success.
• 17:30
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 17:31
Speaker 5: So like in the tenure when I was at East
• 17:33
Speaker 5: Bank a little bit before. So we won championships in
• 17:35
Speaker 5: seventy one and seventy three. So two years row or
• 17:38
Speaker 5: two years out of three, I was on the seventy
• 17:39
Speaker 5: three team. We're high six to nothing. I played at Parkersburg.
• 17:44
Speaker 5: I remember just like it was yesterday. You never forget
• 17:47
Speaker 5: that Eric Frakeovich was the weird high quarterback. I think
• 17:51
Speaker 5: he went on to play college. I love meeting people
• 17:54
Speaker 5: from Rierton and ask them if they remember that game,
• 17:57
Speaker 5: and then I tell them some of these spanks I
• 17:58
Speaker 5: enjoyed a little bit more than that.
• 18:00
Speaker 4: Did you play? I was? I have had a lot
• 18:02
Speaker 4: of speech, So I played tackle.
• 18:03
Speaker 3: So that's a you know, well, you know, a couple
• 18:05
Speaker 3: of months ago, Jeff Jenkins comes in here and I
• 18:08
Speaker 3: think it was on a Friday, and you know, he
• 18:10
Speaker 3: was still wearing his East Bank High school jersey and
• 18:14
Speaker 3: he could not a lot of people can say that
• 18:17
Speaker 3: they could that they could wear their clothing from high school,
• 18:20
Speaker 3: but Jeff Jenkins can. He looked like he could suit
• 18:22
Speaker 3: up for the Pioneers when he was in here wearing
• 18:25
Speaker 3: that jersey a couple of weeks ago.
• 18:26
  Speaker 4: Oh he does.
• 18:26
Speaker 5: And we'll we'll have at the breakfast, we're going to
• 18:29
Speaker 5: have to think about one hundred East Bank caps that
• 18:30
Speaker 5: we're going to sell, baseball caps that we're going to
• 18:32
Speaker 5: sell for about fifteen dollars, So someone's don't donated that
• 18:35
Speaker 5: the money we all go to the go to the schools.
• 18:38
  Speaker 4: Uh.
• 18:39
  Speaker 5: And I think you'll see a lot of a lot
• 18:40
Speaker 5: of blue East Bank caps around town here and are
• 18:43
Speaker 5: in a couple of weeks. But we do again, I
• 18:45
Speaker 5: think the sense of pride in our communities, it really
• 18:47
Speaker 5: is the most special thing about West Virginia. And that's
• 18:50
Speaker 5: also why, you know, when we get these bigger issues
• 18:51
Speaker 5: of closing schools and so it hurts right because it
• 18:54
Speaker 5: is a part of our identity.
• 18:56
Speaker 3: We we all understand, you know, near the treasurer so
• 18:58
Speaker 3: you especially understanding, you stand the economics of it. But
• 19:02
Speaker 3: we would love to live in an era where every
• 19:05
Speaker 3: community has their schools, you know, And because it's the
• 19:10
Speaker 3: people have heard me talk about it before, Larry. It's
• 19:12
Speaker 3: the center point of the community. It's where everything takes
• 19:15
Speaker 3: place from boy Scouts to you know, water meetings and
• 19:18
Speaker 3: so on and so forth. It's where every fall carnivals,
• 19:20
Speaker 3: that's where everything takes place. And I understand the economics
• 19:23
Speaker 3: of it, I really really do. I completely understand it.
• 19:26
Speaker 3: And you know what's been going on with closing and
• 19:28
Speaker 3: consolidations and schools all over West Virginia. I completely get it.
• 19:31
Speaker 3: But it doesn't make it any easier for the people
• 19:33
  Speaker 3: in those communities.
• 19:34
  Speaker 4: It really does.
• 19:34
Speaker 5: In est Spank, I'm a third generation in East Bank graduate.
• 19:37
Speaker 5: My grandmother graduated from me Spank High School in nineteen
• 19:40
Speaker 5: twenty eight. So there was a high school or junior
• 19:42
Speaker 5: high middle school in East Bank for over one hundred years.
• 19:45
Speaker 5: And so when that history is lost, when the middle
• 19:48
Speaker 5: schools closed this year, it really is difficult on the community,
• 19:52
Speaker 5: without a doubt, but we do everything. That's one of
• 19:54
Speaker 5: the reasons we do events like this, is the reason
• 19:56
Speaker 5: why we do do lunches, we still do re unions,
• 19:58
Speaker 5: is we want to keep it alive. We want to
• 19:59
Speaker 5: keep talking about East Bank and just remembering all the
• 20:03
Speaker 5: great things. And again, because most of us, all of
• 20:04
Speaker 5: us really are where we are today because of the
• 20:07
Speaker 5: education through because of the community. Community that raises us up.
• 20:10
Speaker 3: What kind of a buy in do you have from
• 20:11
Speaker 3: people that are no longer in West Virginia. I mean
• 20:13
Speaker 3: people that have moved on to other states.
• 20:15
Speaker 5: All the East Bank Facebook Friends stuff is really really busy,
• 20:19
Speaker 5: so we'll have a lot of people come in. We
• 20:21
Speaker 5: just did we do a reunion once a year. It's
• 20:24
Speaker 5: in September, last Saturday in September. We were able to
• 20:27
Speaker 5: go this year, and we have people from all over
• 20:29
Speaker 5: the country that came in. You know, we think the
• 20:31
Speaker 5: oldest person that was there was ninety six, graduated I
• 20:35
Speaker 5: think in nineteen thirty two, need to say he won
• 20:38
Speaker 5: that prize. But again, we also had folks that came
• 20:41
Speaker 5: all the way from California. So again it's that sense
• 20:43
Speaker 5: of community and ability to just go back and talk
• 20:46
Speaker 5: to folks. And you know, even when I do these lunches.
• 20:48
Speaker 5: A few lunches ago, they were talking about the nineteen
• 20:50
Speaker 5: sixty Baseball Championship Game, second inning and going through, which
• 20:54
Speaker 5: was just a blast that sit there and listen to
• 20:56
Speaker 5: us guys talk about that it is and it's.
• 20:58
Speaker 3: Just like it was yet like you said, it was
• 20:59
Speaker 3: just it was just like it was yesterday, just like
• 21:01
Speaker 3: it was yesterday to talk about your time as not
• 21:04
Speaker 3: as an athlete, but as a student at East Bank School.
• 21:07
Speaker 3: What was it like being a student at East Banks
• 21:10
Speaker 3: early seventies that we used.
• 21:11
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I got out in seventy six, so six, okay,
• 21:14
Speaker 5: mid seventy so I think we graduated about three fifty.
• 21:16
Speaker 4: So it was a big school. We were triple A school.
• 21:18
Speaker 3: It's amazing when do you think about it now.
• 21:20
Speaker 5: Absolutely, we had four junior highs feeding into it. I
• 21:23
Speaker 5: went to Marmott Junior High. Of course, all all these
• 21:25
Speaker 5: schools are close now. But we were very competitive in baseball,
• 21:29
Speaker 5: very competitive, great teams of baseball, in football, competitive and
• 21:33
Speaker 5: other sports. Basketball was kind of decent, but it's a
• 21:36
Speaker 5: big school with big bands, a lot of activities always
• 21:39
Speaker 5: going on. We played Stonewall, I think when I was
• 21:42
Speaker 5: a sophomore when as a freshman Stonwall in football we
• 21:46
Speaker 5: had almost nine thousand people they said at their game
• 21:49
Speaker 5: in Calvert Field in East Bank. But that was for
• 21:52
Speaker 5: it before ESPN and high school was was really big.
• 21:56
Speaker 5: And of course Stonewall had great teams like with Walter
• 21:58
Speaker 5: Easley who played in the NFL. So those are just
• 22:01
Speaker 5: really really good times that I'm blessed to have grown
• 22:04
Speaker 5: up in that time and been able to go to
• 22:05
  Speaker 5: East Bank.
• 22:06
Speaker 3: Talking to State treasure Larry Pak, who's stepping away from
• 22:08
Speaker 3: his treasure position just for a moment to talk about
• 22:10
Speaker 3: this big event with the East Bank. We'll get back
• 22:12
Speaker 3: to it here in a couple of moments. The Dave
• 22:13
Speaker 3: Island Show in five of E Live is brought to
• 22:15
Speaker 3: you in part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston
• 22:17
Speaker 3: Dirty Bird Salaneo loll Light. The Night continues at Go
• 22:20
Speaker 3: Mart Ballpark every night through January first, except for Christmas Night.
• 22:23
Speaker 3: Get your tickets in advance and please get him in
• 22:25
Speaker 3: advance by visiting Dblightthnight dot com. Larry have a text here.
• 22:29
Speaker 3: It says Pioneer Pride Worldwide and it's signed Joe. There
• 22:33
Speaker 3: you go, So Joe, what we appreciate you listening to
• 22:35
Speaker 3: us today. All right, we'll get back to the East
• 22:36
Speaker 3: Bank thing a little bit later. On what's making news
• 22:38
Speaker 3: in the Treasurer's office these days?
• 22:40
  Speaker 5: Well, I think it's been it's been a big week
• 22:41
Speaker 5: in the Treasure's office, particularly we announced yesterday that we've
• 22:46
Speaker 5: revived we continue to revise our numbers for Hope scholarship
• 22:48
Speaker 5: for next year, so down I think it's about now,
• 22:51
Speaker 5: about two hundred and thirty million dollars. It's kind of
• 22:53
Speaker 5: where we think we're going to land. I think with
• 22:55
Speaker 5: our previous estimates we're as much as three hundred million dollars.
• 22:58
Speaker 5: So we're trying to refine those now to be able
• 23:00
Speaker 5: to give the governor, to give the legislature the best
• 23:02
Speaker 5: information that we can. It's a lot of money, but
• 23:06
Speaker 5: it's not a lot of money when you think of
• 23:08
Speaker 5: the total state budget of six billion dollars or whatever
• 23:10
Speaker 5: it is. But we we currently have about fifteen thousand
• 23:13
Speaker 5: students that are taking advantage of the program. We think
• 23:15
Speaker 5: it's going to go up to somewhere around forty thousand,
• 23:18
Speaker 5: but next year is the year that it comes becomes
• 23:20
Speaker 5: universally available or eligible, and so we're working hard on that,
• 23:24
Speaker 5: but we're doing a lot of other stuff. Uncleaned property
• 23:26
Speaker 5: continues to come in at bigger and bigger numbers. We
• 23:28
Speaker 5: have this really complex financial society culture, and so we
• 23:33
Speaker 5: work really hard trying to get that money out back
• 23:35
Speaker 5: out to West Virginians. But we currently have about five
• 23:37
Speaker 5: hundred million dollars of West Virginians money into our account.
• 23:40
Speaker 5: So if anybody's lessening today other than planning to go
• 23:43
Speaker 5: to these bank breakfast, please go the website and check
• 23:47
Speaker 5: and see if we've got your money.
• 23:48
Speaker 4: We'd love to give it back. I want to.
• 23:50
Speaker 3: I want you to explain that unclean property, because we
• 23:53
Speaker 3: hear that all the time. You hear it on our news,
• 23:55
Speaker 3: you see it in the paper and whatever. But many
• 23:57
Speaker 3: people may not understand what exactly that is. So break
• 24:00
Speaker 3: it down for dumb it down for people like me.
• 24:02
Speaker 3: What exactly does that mean when you say unclaimed property?
• 24:05
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's it's really it's really kind of interesting.
• 24:08
  Speaker 5: When I when I took the job, I think I
• 24:10
Speaker 5: thought it was more just a dormant savings account, right,
• 24:13
Speaker 5: but it is so much more than that. So it
• 24:15
Speaker 5: is savings accounts, but it's refunds that maybe come from
• 24:17
Speaker 5: a hospital, will come from a doctor, from an insurance company,
• 24:20
Speaker 5: maybe they maybe you moved and they didn't get the
• 24:22
Speaker 5: right address, or maybe they put your wrong address in South.
• 24:26
Speaker 5: It could be a gift certificate that that that you
• 24:29
Speaker 5: would didn't didn't spend. It could be utility deposits. That's
• 24:32
Speaker 5: just so many different directions and ways that could come
• 24:36
Speaker 5: a school school refunds. But basically what happens is if
• 24:39
Speaker 5: a company or an entity has money and they can't
• 24:42
Speaker 5: find the right fore owner, they're required to send it
• 24:44
Speaker 5: to the Treasurer's office and then our job is to
• 24:46
Speaker 5: go out and try to find you. And so it
• 24:48
Speaker 5: could be sometimes it's government's money, sometimes it's nonprofits money,
• 24:51
  Speaker 5: it's the individual's money.
• 24:52
Speaker 4: So it can be an inheritance.
• 24:54
Speaker 5: If you remember, uh, you know the Depression Areas Society group. Uh,
• 24:59
Speaker 5: they didn't tell anybody wear their money. Yes, so sometimes
• 25:02
Speaker 5: it's in a bank in the next next town that
• 25:04
Speaker 5: the kids, as a grandkids didn't know about. So it
• 25:06
Speaker 5: can come at you a lot of different direction. But
• 25:08
Speaker 5: against just our complex financial situation where we don't do
• 25:11
Speaker 5: as much cash these days, and stuff just goes lots
• 25:13
  Speaker 5: of different directions.
• 25:15
Speaker 3: Talking to State Treasurer Larry Pack, all right, so we're
• 25:17
Speaker 3: just a couple of weeks away from Christmas, but then
• 25:19
Speaker 3: after that things are really going to ramp up as
• 25:22
Speaker 3: far as the legislature goes. We saw just a couple
• 25:24
Speaker 3: of days ago that the House Speaker, Roger Hanshaw, came
• 25:26
Speaker 3: out with their agenda. Junior of Commerce had Brian Dayton
• 25:29
Speaker 3: on the show earlier this week talking about their agenda.
• 25:31
Speaker 3: You were one of the early ones that put out
• 25:33
Speaker 3: some things for your agenda. How's that looking right now
• 25:36
Speaker 3: for the legislative session.
• 25:37
Speaker 5: Well, I think it's exciting that people are being very
• 25:41
Speaker 5: bold and clear about what they think are the priorities
• 25:44
Speaker 5: for West Virginia going forward, and do it, and do it,
• 25:46
Speaker 5: do it early in the sixty days session goes very
• 25:49
Speaker 5: very fast. I experienced that myself two years in the
• 25:52
Speaker 5: House of Delegates and then downstairs with Governor Justice, so
• 25:54
Speaker 5: I think it's really really important. We tried to focus
• 25:57
Speaker 5: on two or three big things, you know, tax cuts
• 25:59
Speaker 5: for working peoples and no tax on overtime, no tax
• 26:02
Speaker 5: on on on tips. Term limits. We we think that
• 26:06
Speaker 5: these jobs are are are for for public service, they're
• 26:11
Speaker 5: not for career. So three terms, go home, go back
• 26:14
Speaker 5: and get a job. So we tried to I love that. Yeah,
• 26:17
Speaker 5: And then and then of course again, if you don't
• 26:19
Speaker 5: have a real world experience, you can't lead other people, right,
• 26:21
Speaker 5: you need to make sense. And then teachers, you know,
• 26:23
Speaker 5: we talk a lot about education, about schools and closing
• 26:26
Speaker 5: schools and so forth, but we're not I don't think
• 26:28
Speaker 5: we're talking enough about teachers, and they're the most valuable
• 26:30
Speaker 5: employees players in in in that setting. We need to
• 26:34
Speaker 5: make sure we take care of them. The mayor the
• 26:37
Speaker 5: speakers is economics. Basically, what he've said is is all
• 26:41
Speaker 5: our problems, all our challenges, can be mitigated, can be
• 26:44
Speaker 5: lessened if we have good jobs. And so his his
• 26:46
Speaker 5: entire portfolio was related to that. Uh So I was
• 26:49
Speaker 5: able to listen to it. It sounds really, really good. I
• 26:51
Speaker 5: look forward to the details, look forward to doing everything
• 26:54
Speaker 5: I can to help him move his agenda forward. So
• 26:57
Speaker 5: I'm excited about West Virginia. I think we have good leaders,

Speaker 5: but we need to go We need to do some
• 27:01
Speaker 5: of these things to really let people know that Westinia
• 27:04
Speaker 5: is open for business. West Virginia does care about working
• 27:06
Speaker 5: people in West Virginia does care about our teachers.
• 27:08
Speaker 3: Can I ask you a question, sure anything? Sure? What
• 27:11
Speaker 3: are you gonna do it in the future?
• 27:13
Speaker 4: Don't know. The Lord's in charge of that.
• 27:15
Speaker 5: If you had asked me this five years ago, I
• 27:18
Speaker 5: would have said Stone Rise would be operating in five
• 27:22
Speaker 5: or six states. I thought we were going to be
• 27:24
Speaker 5: in this until we got tired and they sent me
• 27:26
Speaker 5: to the farm or something like that. So I don't know.
• 27:29
Speaker 5: But what we're trying to do is we're trying to
• 27:31
Speaker 5: really lead. We're trying to be consequential. We're trying to
• 27:34
Speaker 5: talk about big picture issues. At the same time, we
• 27:36
Speaker 5: want to do everything we can to make sure that
• 27:38
Speaker 5: we're doing all the duties of the Treasure's Office. Or
• 27:41
Speaker 5: we have a meeting today for an investment management board.
• 27:43
Speaker 5: We invest about forty million dollars of pension money, so
• 27:46
Speaker 5: that's a big part of what we do. But the
• 27:48
Speaker 5: future will take care of itself. And right now what
• 27:50
Speaker 5: we're going to do is be the best treasure we can.
• 27:51
Speaker 3: All right, let's got back to the East Bank thing.
• 27:53
Speaker 3: Let's get all the particulars out there and keeps. People
• 27:55
Speaker 3: are tuning in late about this reunion of sorts that
• 27:57
Speaker 3: you got going on.
• 27:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's exactly what it is. It's basically just
• 27:59
Speaker 4: the just just they went to reunion.
• 28:01
Speaker 5: So we're gonna have a fundraiser on December the twentieth,
• 28:05
Speaker 5: and that starts at nine o'clock at the Marmatt Recreation Center.
• 28:08
Speaker 5: It's really all about raising money for the three grade
• 28:12
Speaker 5: schools that are still left on the East Bake side
• 28:14
Speaker 5: of the river, Pratt, Sharon Dawlles in Chesapeake. We have
• 28:17
Speaker 5: a lot of East Bank memorability there. We think we
• 28:19
Speaker 5: have three or four hundred people there. Chris Massey and
• 28:22
Speaker 5: Jeff Davenport will be our speakers general tackle b r MC.
• 28:26
Speaker 5: We'll have a lot of good food, a lot of fellowship,
• 28:28
Speaker 5: and like say, if you want to get an East
• 28:29
Speaker 5: Bank cap, you want to get in East Bank, Jersey,
• 28:31
Speaker 5: this would be the place to go. So I look
• 28:33
Speaker 5: forward toeing everyone on December of the twenties. So it
• 28:35
Speaker 5: doesn't matter if you were an athlete or not. Everybody's
• 28:38
Speaker 5: show up. We'll have a good time.
• 28:39
Speaker 3: And I just had this image of a bunch of
• 28:41
Speaker 3: these former athletes like yourself getting there and talking and
• 28:44
Speaker 3: one thing leads to another and then you end up
• 28:46
Speaker 3: outside trying to run plays again. Is that gonna happen?
• 28:49
Speaker 5: I sure hope it doesn't with me, because I have
• 28:51
Speaker 5: come my worth, O buddy, real quick after that.

• 33:01
Speaker 15: We just ended a fantastic series of sounds of the season.
• 33:03
Speaker 15: So thank you everyone who came out and visited us
• 33:05
Speaker 15: in all not only Charleston, but Lewisburg and Parkersburg.
• 33:08
Speaker 14: So our orchestra has.
• 33:09
Speaker 15: Been all over the place and we are really excited
• 33:11
Speaker 15: that on Friday we are going to be joined by
• 33:14
Speaker 15: our friends with the Charlesta Ballet for one of my
• 33:16
Speaker 15: favorite things we do every single year are annual performance
• 33:18
  Speaker 15: of the Nutcracker.
• 33:19
Speaker 16: Yes, I mean this is a really great concert every year.
• 33:22
Speaker 16: We've been doing it now many many years, and it's
• 33:25
Speaker 16: special for a number of reasons. But one of the
• 33:27
Speaker 16: main reasons is that so many productions of the Nutcracker
• 33:31
Speaker 16: these days, I mean Nutcracker Traditional Christmas then the story
• 33:34
Speaker 16: takes place on Christmas Eve.
• 33:35
Speaker 4: You know, it's perfect for the season.
• 33:36
Speaker 3: It's beautiful. And a lot of.
• 33:39
Speaker 16: Productions of the Nutcracker all across the country are using
• 33:41
Speaker 16: more and more pre recorded music, and ours is live music,
• 33:45
Speaker 16: one hundred percent of the time, made by live musicians
• 33:47
Speaker 16: right in West Virginia. And you know, there's a few
• 33:49
Speaker 16: reasons why that matters. One is that you're never going
• 33:53
Speaker 16: to get the immediacy and power of the score of
• 33:59
Speaker 16: the notes that You'reovski wrote from a recording in a
• 34:02
Speaker 16: concert hall. There's just something you know, the way the
• 34:03
Speaker 16: concert hall is designed, the way that we are sitting
• 34:05
Speaker 16: all together, you know, fifteen hundred people, two thousand people
• 34:08
Speaker 16: sitting there watching this. You need that immediacy of real people.
• 34:11
Speaker 16: And the second is that dancers do different things. We're
• 34:13
Speaker 16: going to do three concerts of the Nutcracker Friday night,
• 34:15
Speaker 16: Saturday afternoon, Saturday night, and the dancers are going to
• 34:18
Speaker 16: do things a little bit differently each time. And part
• 34:20
Speaker 16: of our job in the orchestra is to be flexible
• 34:23
Speaker 16: enough and be accommodating enough so that these great dancers
• 34:26
Speaker 16: in the Charles tun Bala can do their best work
• 34:28
Speaker 16: and not worry about having to time themselves perfectly to
• 34:32
Speaker 16: something that's been pre recorded.
• 34:33
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 34:34
Speaker 3: Amen to that as somebody who's not a musician, but
• 34:36
Speaker 3: as somebody who I just prefer a lot music exactly.
• 34:40
Speaker 3: I mean, that's the way. I mean. Everybody talks about
• 34:42
Speaker 3: the big debate every year about the Super Bowl, and
• 34:44
Speaker 3: I say, I don't care who performs, as long as
• 34:47
Speaker 3: you do it live, right, Well, that's the only thing
• 34:49
  Speaker 3: I care about.
• 34:50
Speaker 16: Right Well, that's what it's about. You know, I mean,
• 34:51
Speaker 16: music is about a connection between a person, like two
• 34:54
Speaker 16: different people or thousands of people or whoever it is
• 34:56
Speaker 16: performing and listening, and it's you have to be there,
• 35:00
Speaker 16: you know, for it to be that special.
• 35:01
Speaker 3: And three different performances you may see three different things.
• 35:05
Speaker 16: Exactly what and you will I mean, you know, because
• 35:07
Speaker 16: it really and it's it's really wonderful. Actually every year,
• 35:10
Speaker 16: you know, I keep this is now, you know, my
• 35:13
Speaker 16: third year here and so this will be my third
• 35:16
Speaker 16: time during the Nutcracker, and I every people always ask,
• 35:20
Speaker 16: you know, what's your favorite? Which night should I come?
• 35:22
Speaker 16: You know, which which which performance should I come to? Friday,
• 35:25
Speaker 16: Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night? And every year I
• 35:28
Speaker 16: leave thinking that they were all I can't pick one,
• 35:31
Speaker 16: because there's you know, Friday night has that excitement energy,
• 35:34
Speaker 16: it's the first one. You know, everyone's really kind of
• 35:36
Speaker 16: got that extra kind of buzz, you know, and then
• 35:39
Speaker 16: Saturday there's in the afternoon, it's a totally different vibe
• 35:43
Speaker 16: because it's the afternoon and people are in a different headspace,
• 35:45
Speaker 16: and so there's you know, there's people take things a
• 35:47
Speaker 16: little bit differently. Maybe they take maybe more risks or
• 35:49
Speaker 16: something like that, and then Saturday night it's there's so
• 35:52
Speaker 16: much celebratoriness because oh we made it, we did all this.
• 35:54
Speaker 4: Stuff right and so.
• 35:55
Speaker 16: But but each one sort of lends the performance in
• 35:58
Speaker 16: very subtle but meaningful ways, just a little bit of
• 36:00
Speaker 16: a different, different feel, and so it's really great to
• 36:03
Speaker 16: get to have that journey.
• 36:05
Speaker 3: Again. We're talking about the Nutcracker, but there's a lot
• 36:07
Speaker 3: of other things going on. A man, I will to
• 36:09
Speaker 3: let you talk about some other things that that we've
• 36:11
Speaker 3: had going on and where we're going in the future.
• 36:12
Speaker 15: Yeah, So again, we just wrapped up some great Sounds
• 36:15
Speaker 15: of the Season concerts. If you are a fan of
• 36:18
Speaker 15: pops music, Christmas music, holiday music, you really missed out,
• 36:20
Speaker 15: so make sure you takets early next year. But on
• 36:23
Speaker 15: Sunday too, after our fantastic Orchestra does three performances with
• 36:27
Speaker 15: the Valley for the Nutcracker, we're going to be taking
• 36:29
Speaker 15: the Clay Center stage once more with our wonderful West
• 36:32
Speaker 15: Virginia Symphony Course and they're going to be performing Handles
• 36:34
Speaker 15: Messiah on Sunday evening at seven thirty. It's something they
• 36:37
Speaker 15: do typically once a year, but it's really really, really
• 36:40
Speaker 15: special when we get to do it in the Clay
• 36:41
Speaker 15: Center Hall and add just an extra element of not
• 36:46
Speaker 15: only orchestral excellence, because the hall is so wonderfully musically
• 36:51
Speaker 15: sound that it really feels nice and warm, and it
• 36:53
Speaker 15: is another great way to bring in the holiday spirit,
• 36:56
Speaker 15: especially if you'd like to do something a little bit
• 36:58
Speaker 15: more with the coral music, a little bit more of
• 37:01
Speaker 15: a religious aspect rather than the Nutcracker.
• 37:04
Speaker 3: Well, and the temperatures on Sunday are going to be
• 37:06
Speaker 3: in the low twenty so anything that makes us feel
• 37:08
Speaker 3: warm would be a good thing.
• 37:10
Speaker 15: Well, nice warm concert hall, warm music, filling the things
• 37:13
Speaker 15: in that epic hallelujah course. I mean that is one
• 37:16
Speaker 15: thing that you can't bring in the holiday season without.
• 37:18
Speaker 16: Right, stay cozy with the Symphony.
• 37:19
Speaker 3: I'm gonna have you kind of put a bow on,
• 37:22
Speaker 3: no pun intended on the year twenty twenty five for
• 37:25
Speaker 3: the Symphony, because this is it's been an exciting year.
• 37:28
Speaker 3: You've had a lot of great things going on. This
• 37:29
Speaker 3: is probably be the last time we'll talk to you
• 37:30
Speaker 3: this year. We'll be talking to you plenty in twenty
• 37:32
Speaker 3: twenty six, but just kind of do the year and
• 37:35
  Speaker 3: review thing.
• 37:36
Speaker 15: Yeah, Well, we had a great beginning to our Symphonic
• 37:38
Speaker 15: series opening and I kicked off with a bang, and
• 37:41
Speaker 15: then our second shunter, we really got to feature some
• 37:44
Speaker 15: homegrown talent. Linda Goodman, who's our principal flute performs an
• 37:47
Speaker 15: amazing couple of pieces, including a world premiere for the
• 37:52
Speaker 15: Symphony not Nancy Galbreits Concerto, which was really really fun.
• 37:55
Speaker 15: Our Pop season two is already halfway over, which is
• 37:58
Speaker 15: crazy to think about. This is not typic what our
• 38:01
Speaker 15: season does. But we started early this year with Listen
• 38:03
Speaker 15: where You Live and celebrated Bands of Charleston in the
• 38:07
Speaker 15: Music of West Virginia, which was an epiicit and again
• 38:10
Speaker 15: we finished with Sounds of the Season. So we're really
• 38:12
Speaker 15: looking forward to this last weekend of concerts, and like
• 38:14
Speaker 15: you said, we've got a lot of really great things
• 38:16
Speaker 15: coming up in twenty twenty six, some fantastic Pops concerts,
• 38:19
Speaker 15: including one I'm really particularly excited about with an Illusionist,
• 38:22
Speaker 15: So we'll be doing some magic on stage with the orchestra.
• 38:25
Speaker 15: We'll be bringing Carmena Barana back to the stage too,
• 38:28
Speaker 15: which the last time we were supposed to do that
• 38:29
Speaker 15: was right before COVID hits, So something that we've been
• 38:32
Speaker 15: yearning for for quite some time, and then we'll wrap
• 38:35
Speaker 15: up the season. Not only was a Van corpseymbody Sunday,
• 38:38
Speaker 15: but with another collaboration with the ballet in May of
• 38:40
Speaker 15: twenty twenty six, we're doing Swan Lake too, So lots
• 38:43
Speaker 15: of amazing things that we've already done and lots of
• 38:45
Speaker 15: great things to come.
• 38:46
Speaker 3: And remind people why they should start planning for twenty
• 38:49
Speaker 3: twenty six. In other words, you know, to start looking
• 38:52
Speaker 3: at the tickets too.
• 38:53
Speaker 15: Oh yeah, start looking at your tickets now. All of
• 38:55
Speaker 15: our concerts, we like to think, are super super affordable.
• 38:57
Speaker 15: Everything starts typically about fourteen dollars for individual to get
• 39:01
Speaker 15: into the concert hall. But if you want those really
• 39:04
Speaker 15: great seats, especially for the illusionists, I would go ahead
• 39:06
Speaker 15: and get those reserved now. As we're getting closer to
• 39:09
Speaker 15: these really great concerts and we get closer to sellouts,
• 39:11
Speaker 15: which is what we want in Charleston, which is what
• 39:13
Speaker 15: we want in the valley. Keeps us bringing these amazing
• 39:16
Speaker 15: symphonic and arts works to the stage on these great collaborations.
• 39:20
Speaker 15: So get your tickets now. Visit Wbsymphony dot org. That's
• 39:23

Speaker 15: different events we have coming up, and make sure you

Speaker 3: parades or stations will be in the Hurricane Christmas Parade

Speaker 3: and the Nitro Christmas Parades on Saturday. I'll be there

• 47:40
Speaker 3: That's a noontime parade, and then the Nitro Parade will
• 47:44
Speaker 3: be in the evening. Now, this is the one that
• 47:45
Speaker 3: was originally scheduled for last Saturday night, but was moved
• 47:48
Speaker 3: because Nitro, well, they were a little bit busy the
• 47:50

Speaker 3: so they opted to move the parade of this Saturday night.

Speaker 3: sadly mistaken. Opinion on my part could be totally wrong.
• 49:17
Speaker 3: Been wrong before. We've been telling you about this weekend
• 49:19
Speaker 3: murder in Charleston and now a second person facing charges.
• 49:23
Speaker 3: Morgan Pemberton's story posted this morning wv Metronews dot com.
• 49:26
Speaker 3: Twenty five year old Brennan Michael Adkins of Saint Albans
• 49:29
Speaker 3: now charged with the first and second degree murder a
• 49:31
Speaker 3: thirty one year old Joshua Walls in this murder, and
• 49:37
Speaker 3: now previously a thirty three year old by the name
• 49:39
Speaker 3: of Jack Roff was charged in Walls's death. Happened on
• 49:42
Speaker 3: Main Street in Charleston's Sunday morning when police were called
• 49:45
Speaker 3: to a home there. They found Walls with two gunshot wounds.
• 49:48
Speaker 3: He was taken to camc where he later died. Now
• 49:51
Speaker 3: Raff had stated that it was Adkins that killed Walls.
• 49:54
Speaker 3: Roff did turn himself into police earlier this week. Apparently
• 49:57
Speaker 3: the cops stumbled up on the name of Brenton Adkins
• 50:01
Speaker 3: when they were searching through the deceased phone. Surveillance video
• 50:05
Speaker 3: showed two people into the home and two gunshot wounds
• 50:08
Speaker 3: can be heard. All apparently from what they're saying, it
• 50:11
Speaker 3: all has to do with drugs. Apparently Adkins is in
• 50:15
Speaker 3: the Western Regional Jail and Rof is in the South
• 50:18
Speaker 3: Central Regional Jail. Both are being held without bond. And
• 50:23
  Speaker 3: you know, again, it's a tragic story. I didn't It
• 50:26
Speaker 3: doesn't matter who these people are. I didn't know any
• 50:27
Speaker 3: of them myself, but we do have the story. It
• 50:31
Speaker 3: posted about it at over at to wv Metronews dot com.
• 50:35
Speaker 3: F Morgan Pemberton close the show by just saying this,
• 50:38
Speaker 3: We had a pretty interesting discussion yesterday and it had
• 50:42
Speaker 3: to do with Australia banning social media for kids sixteen
• 50:47
Speaker 3: and under. We had a really good discussion with a
• 50:52
Speaker 3: physician who specializes in mental health for teens, particularly as
• 51:00
Speaker 3: it as it applies to social media. So I would
• 51:02
Speaker 3: urge you if you haven't, if you want to go
• 51:04
Speaker 3: back and listen to that. It's available wv metronews dot com.
• 51:06
Speaker 3: The two o'clock interview that I did yesterday, uh, pretty
• 51:10
  Speaker 3: interesting stuff.
• 51:10
Speaker 4: And this was a doctor.
• 51:11
Speaker 3: I think he said he had three kids, and he said,
• 51:13
Speaker 3: I do not allow my kids uh to be on
• 51:16
Speaker 3: social media at all. So that's uh, that's what he's saying.
• 51:21
Speaker 3: Text says, OMG, the Trump Trump Trump whining is just
• 51:24
Speaker 3: as bad as Jan Brady's Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. Get out
• 51:27
Speaker 3: of the basement and get some fresh air once in

• 51:36
Speaker 3: Just great you. I'm doing well. I'm doing well.
• 51:41
  Speaker 4: Had a Uh.
• 51:42
Speaker 3: I had to get that question into Larry Pack though,
• 51:45
Speaker 3: just asking what his future because you know, he he
• 51:47
Speaker 3: hears stuff, he knows, he knows what's being said out there.
• 51:50
Speaker 3: He's gonna run for governor, sure he knows, but I
• 51:52
Speaker 3: had to ask him. Depends on what JJ's going to do.
• 51:56
Speaker 3: And JJ hasn't decided yet, yep. And you got to
• 51:59
Speaker 3: remember we're talking about twenty eight. You know, we're not
• 52:02
Speaker 3: even to twenty twenty six yet, you know. Yeah, but
• 52:05
Speaker 3: it's sooner and sooner these days and Christmas decorations and
• 52:08
Speaker 3: the difference is it's primary, right, I mean, it's gonna
• 52:11
Speaker 3: be contested against the sitting governor, and so it escalates things,
• 52:16
Speaker 3: it moves it closer in the election cycles. I just
• 52:19
Speaker 3: wonder if you'll see what we saw in the last
• 52:21
Speaker 3: election when you had all of these people, was a
• 52:23
Speaker 3: five that ran for governor on the Republican side last year.
• 52:25
Speaker 3: I mean, you think we'll see that again? I believe that.
• 52:32
Speaker 4: I would hope not.
• 52:33
Speaker 3: I'll put it that way, all right, all right, give
