- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we're talking about spiritual optimism.
- 0:34And if you've never heard about this before, it's a real thing
- 0:37it. It's when you really refuse to
- 0:40accept the fact that there's defeat with your attitude.
- 0:44If you just don't want your attitude to ever feel defeated.
- 0:47You want to be on the positive side of things and you know you
- 0:49have a spiritual connection to help you.
- 0:52And I think it is. Just such a profound term.
- 0:55And if someone asks me about that for myself, it's part of my
- 1:00definition and how I define myself.
- 1:01I'm a spiritual optimist. I always believe that there is a
- 1:05reason that you know, I I am here.
- 1:09There's a reason that I'm put on this planet, that the things
- 1:12that are happening around me are to educate me, to give me
- 1:16something that's going to make me better, stronger and move.
- 1:22Me in a direction that I know is ultimately going to be the right
- 1:25place for me. But you have to maintain your
- 1:28spiritual optimism and you have to realize first of all that
- 1:32that's an identity for yourself. So seriously, like believing
- 1:36something is true about you helps you to maintain it.
- 1:40So if I believe I'm a creative person, if I believe that I am
- 1:44artistic, let's say because this is a perfect example, my
- 1:47grandmother. My maternal grandmother is the
- 1:50one that I knew. I didn't know my paternal
- 1:51grandmother. She passed away before I I was
- 1:54born. And my dad used to say that I
- 1:57was very, very much like her in all her creativity.
- 2:00And he used to tell me that about myself and then my
- 2:03maternal grandmother. Was probably one of my biggest
- 2:07fans and she I was the first born.
- 2:10She definitely spoiled me. She definitely loved me.
- 2:13Didn't even call me by my real name.
- 2:15She referred to me as her doll, Dolly.
- 2:17She called me Dolly all the time and it was her that really
- 2:22cultivated my artistic strengths and my creativity because she
- 2:28would sit with me and anything that I did, she would rave about
- 2:32it. Didn't matter.
- 2:33If it sucked, she would rave about it.
- 2:35When I was little, I went to an art class and I was drawing with
- 2:40these beautiful pastels and I couldn't leave how excited I was
- 2:46to have something big girl beyond crayons.
- 2:49And it was the, you know, pastels.
- 2:51If you've ever worked with them before, they can be messy and
- 2:54chalky. And my mother did not like me
- 2:56doing them in the house because they were messy.
- 2:58But my grandmother would let me do them at her kitchen table,
- 3:01and she didn't care how messy they were.
- 3:03And everything that I would draw, she would say to me,
- 3:06that's beautiful and she would want to frame it and she would
- 3:09keep it. And she used to carry frames
- 3:11around with her in her big old lady handbag of things that I
- 3:16drew because she wanted to talk about them.
- 3:19And she gave me this identity that I was creative and that I
- 3:24was this artistic person. And to this day, that belief
- 3:28that she passed on to me is a part of my hardwiring.
- 3:31So I will try things and I will paint and I do all these
- 3:35artistic things. But I really believe it's not
- 3:38just because I have that ability, because I think all of
- 3:41us have abilities that are, you know, we start off fairly level,
- 3:45but it's the ones who gravitate to something and buy into it
- 3:48that. You know, makes them great and
- 3:50the joy of it. So I cultivated that in the
- 3:54identity. And that's the same thing that
- 3:56you can do with spiritual optimism.
- 3:59You have to cultivate it. You have to work at it.
- 4:02You have to create it as part of your identity.
- 4:04And once you do something like that, all of a sudden it changes
- 4:08your life, it changes your world.
- 4:10It gives you something completely different to own for
- 4:13yourself. So how do you do it if you if
- 4:17you don't feel optimistic? Well, the first part is you have
- 4:20to start saying to yourself. Everyday I am feeling more and
- 4:25more spiritually optimistic. I'm buying into this more and
- 4:30more everyday. I'm cultivating my belief that I
- 4:33am not disconnected. Like we talked about yesterday's
- 4:36podcast about being disconnected, But today it's.
- 4:40Realizing that you can cultivate it even when it's hard, even
- 4:43when it seems that it's tough to do even when you don't feel like
- 4:47it. I mean, that's where you know,
- 4:49strength really comes in. Walking the steps when you don't
- 4:54feel like it. Getting up and shooting the
- 4:56podcast when you don't feel like it.
- 4:58You know, doing the things. And believe me, there are days
- 5:01when I don't feel like it. I feel like I just want to stay
- 5:04wrapped in a blanket and I don't want to do it.
- 5:06But you know what? I've got to come out here anyway
- 5:08and open it up for the girls because I love them so much and
- 5:11take care of them. So I'm doing it and I set myself
- 5:15up to win with it. So cultivate this, work on it,
- 5:18Set yourself up to win. Because I promise you it will
- 5:22make a difference when you identify and own this as.
- 5:27I am a spiritual optimist. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:30you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:32Bye.
