- 0:00We have previously explored the attitudes of the external outer
- 0:04being in relation to these various issues.
- 0:08This is the opportunity to compare that view with the
- 0:12attitude of the inner being. At a certain point in an
- 0:16individual's journey, the development takes him beyond his
- 0:19initial fixation with the things that the external life can
- 0:22offer. Satisfaction of desires, family,
- 0:27fame, wealth, power, the sense of accomplishment, all seem to
- 0:33be somewhat illusory, and a point comes when these things
- 0:38simply do not satisfy any longer, do not provide a deeper
- 0:42meaning which the individual is seeking for why he is alive and
- 0:47what he is here to do. In many cases, this turning away
- 0:52from the fulfilment of desires is accompanied with some kind of
- 0:55experience, either traumatic or revelatory or uplifting, that
- 1:03shows the individual that there is actually more to life, that
- 1:07there is actually a deeper meaning, that his life and life
- 1:11experience has a purpose and that it fits into the wider
- 1:16purpose of the cosmic manifestation.
- 1:20This leads to the reversal of consciousness that the Mother
- 1:23speaks about as being a primary characteristic of an individual,
- 1:28shifting his standpoint inwards and taking up the spiritual
- 1:33quest. This reversal of consciousness
- 1:36leads to entirely new attitudes from those held when the
- 1:39individual was focused solely on the external world and his
- 1:44striving to succeed in that world.
