- 0:06Speaker 1: What's up. Family, I'm your girl to meeke A D. Mallory,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and it's your boy and my son in general, and
- 0:11Speaker 1: we are your host of street politicians, the place where
- 0:14Speaker 1: the streets and politics meet. It's you know a lot
- 0:18Speaker 1: of good energy, good energy, good energy, positivity. We're talking
- 0:26Speaker 1: any Yes, today we're talking about money. We're gonna be
- 0:31Speaker 1: talking about money a lot. Like folks can can kind
- 0:35Speaker 1: of just just accept the fact that street politicians and
- 0:39Speaker 1: money is going to be a thing, because it's like
- 0:41Speaker 1: we're scared to talk about money. You know. One of
- 0:43Speaker 1: the things I noticed, even until Freedom, we sit down
- 0:47Speaker 1: for meetings and we know that a major part of
- 0:50Speaker 1: the discussion has to be fundraising and where we're gonna
- 0:53Speaker 1: and ad servicing the people who have given us resources
- 0:57Speaker 1: over time. But for some reason, we will talk about
- 1:01Speaker 1: cases families were supporting, where we need to be, how
- 1:06Speaker 1: we need to get it done, all of the things.
- 1:08Speaker 1: We will will talk talking about our mental health, We'll
- 1:11Speaker 1: start talking about the whatever we have to do for
- 1:14Speaker 1: ourselves and our until freedom community, other people's problems, everything,
- 1:19Speaker 1: And then we spend this short amount of time focused
- 1:23Speaker 1: on fundraising so much that now we have had to
- 1:26Speaker 1: say no, these meetings are only gonna be about fundraising,
- 1:30Speaker 1: so we can force ourselves to talk about money. There
- 1:33Speaker 1: is something about now Linda who she is. She is
- 1:37Speaker 1: Arab American, right, I don't know if that's a thing,
- 1:39Speaker 1: but she's Arab. However, she's an American. Um. She doesn't
- 1:44Speaker 1: mind talking about money. She wants to talk about money
- 1:47Speaker 1: every single day. And I know that there are stereotypes
- 1:49Speaker 1: about communities, but I think that the way in which
- 1:53Speaker 1: she was raised it has always been important. Like her
- 1:57Speaker 1: father being an entrepreneur, he goes all ways, trained them
- 2:01Speaker 1: to get their money and save their money and not
- 2:04Speaker 1: spend exuberant amounts on things that don't matter. I think
- 2:07Speaker 1: with us as black people, somewhere along the line, it's
- 2:10Speaker 1: like the like, we got scared that we can't talk
- 2:13Speaker 1: about money, we can't raise money, we can't have money,
- 2:16Speaker 1: we can't buy a house, we can't have why because
- 2:20Speaker 1: you know, we've been taught that in our communities, when
- 2:24Speaker 1: you actually get money, you become a target. You've done
- 2:27Speaker 1: something wrong, right, people like you know. We was talking
- 2:31Speaker 1: to Mona and she said, people will promote you, and
- 2:34Speaker 1: they wanted to act like they want to see you
- 2:35Speaker 1: get to a certain level, then when they get you
- 2:37Speaker 1: telebrit they want to tell you that. Right, so people
- 2:39Speaker 1: want to see you good. Just do good. It's not
- 2:41Speaker 1: better than them, and it's it's sad, it's it's a
- 2:44Speaker 1: it's a mind state that for some reason our culture
- 2:47Speaker 1: has adopted. You know that, especially in the arena that
- 2:51Speaker 1: we're in, we feel we feel bad about having resources,
- 2:55Speaker 1: about being able to pay rent, about having nice clothes,
- 2:59Speaker 1: about having being able to pay You feel bad because
- 3:02Speaker 1: if you're fighting for the people, there is this that
- 3:06Speaker 1: you should be right there. You should get a job
- 3:09Speaker 1: like you should work in McDonald's. You should be on
- 3:11Speaker 1: the front line. You should put your and people. And
- 3:17Speaker 1: if you're not doing that, then you've done something wrong.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You're cheating the people, you're robbing the people, you're capitalizing
- 3:23Speaker 1: all black everything wrong. Right. People outside that can talk
- 3:27Speaker 1: about killing us and this and now they can promote anything,
- 3:30Speaker 1: the most negative things in the world. They can be billionaires,
- 3:34Speaker 1: they could sell they could do everything, and people will
- 3:36Speaker 1: celebrate them. But when you are in this field, if
- 3:38Speaker 1: you have a dollar over lunch meet, you are somehow
- 3:41Speaker 1: criminal and you're robbing your community. So we we we
- 3:44Speaker 1: we we are traumatized by that. Most people are traumatized
- 3:47Speaker 1: by that. I don't I don't subscribe to that. I
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't subscribe to the poor righteous teacher. I don't subscribe
- 3:53Speaker 1: to you being broke in order to have to take
- 3:55Speaker 1: care of your people. It doesn't even make sense. I
- 3:58Speaker 1: think those are the anybody who's going to fight and
- 4:00Speaker 1: die for our people to make sure justice, equity, and
- 4:03Speaker 1: equality should be people that are substantially taken care of
- 4:07Speaker 1: and should have probably more resource than the rest of
- 4:09Speaker 1: the people. But that's just how I feel. So, you know,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I think we have to get out of that mind
- 4:13Speaker 1: state of being afraid to talk about money, because when
- 4:17Speaker 1: we talk about freedom, freedom main free. The enemy that's
- 4:19Speaker 1: trying to kill us and stop us from moving, they
- 4:22Speaker 1: are investing billions of dollars into that. React absolutely, So
- 4:26Speaker 1: if you're not investing thousands or hundreds of dollars or
- 4:29Speaker 1: even a million dollars into that, how do you think
- 4:31Speaker 1: you're gonna beat them? So I had somebody say to
- 4:34Speaker 1: me recently, and I had this conversation with Dr Bernie's King,
- 4:38Speaker 1: which is Martin Luther King's daughter, Martin Luther King Junior's daughter,
- 4:43Speaker 1: Dr Martin Luther King Junior's daughter. Let's get that right
- 4:46Speaker 1: for respect in the period. And the thing that came
- 4:51Speaker 1: up was I was I was doing an interview UM
- 4:55Speaker 1: and someone said, well, even the King's Center, they have
- 5:00Speaker 1: corporate sponsors and they shouldn't be taking money because Dr
- 5:04Speaker 1: King didn't have no corporate responses. And the question that
- 5:08Speaker 1: I have is number one, do you give them money,
- 5:11Speaker 1: even even five dollars? Even five dollars? Do you give
- 5:15Speaker 1: it to the King's Center, which is a place that
- 5:17Speaker 1: is carrying on the legacy of CORRECTA Scott King and
- 5:21Speaker 1: Dr King, not just from a perspective of like a
- 5:24Speaker 1: you know, a memorabilia, but there's programming at the King's Center.
- 5:29Speaker 1: They also deal with conflict resolution. I remember when I
- 5:34Speaker 1: was going through, you know, some real public conflict um
- 5:37Speaker 1: and and particularly what happened with Um Samaria Rice. You
- 5:42Speaker 1: know when they I was sent a letter demanding that
- 5:46Speaker 1: I meet with her, and you know the whole story,
- 5:49Speaker 1: demanding that I meet with a bunch of people. And
- 5:51Speaker 1: I said, okay, no problem, I would like to bring
- 5:54Speaker 1: Dr Bernie's King with me to the meeting. One. You know,
- 5:57Speaker 1: even though I know Dr King and I love her.
- 6:00Speaker 1: She tells my ask the truth all the time. Let's
- 6:04Speaker 1: just be clear. She sees something she don't like, she
- 6:06Speaker 1: picks up the phone and she's like, listen, this is
- 6:09Speaker 1: not right. I don't think y'all are doing it right.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Don't invoke my father's name in things that are not
- 6:15Speaker 1: true to what it is that he was trying to accomplish.
- 6:18Speaker 1: She never said that to me, thank god, but I
- 6:20Speaker 1: know she does to other people just in general. Right.
- 6:24Speaker 1: And so this is a very very This is a
- 6:27Speaker 1: woman who knows how to be um. Uh. She's four
- 6:32Speaker 1: black people a hundred percent, but she knows how to
- 6:35Speaker 1: be um. What is the word neutral? In any space?
- 6:39Speaker 1: You need environments like that because there is tension in movements.
- 6:44Speaker 1: We should be invested in making sure that the King
- 6:48Speaker 1: Center is a staple place in our community that can
- 6:52Speaker 1: do all of these things. So rap, and and how
- 6:55Speaker 1: the hell do you think that she is going to
- 6:59Speaker 1: be able to be herself, speak truth to power, challenge
- 7:04Speaker 1: white supremacy. She's supposed to go work again at the McDonald's.
- 7:08Speaker 1: That's not gonna that's not gonna happen. She has her
- 7:11Speaker 1: parents legacy to continue. So who else is gonna pay
- 7:16Speaker 1: for if we are not invested saying let's give five dollars,
- 7:20Speaker 1: ten dollars, two dollars. No, you're not even supposed to
- 7:25Speaker 1: take it if it falls from the sky, because no,
- 7:27Speaker 1: not in scorporal. If it falls from the sky is
- 7:29Speaker 1: George Sorrows is money. You gotta get it right. What's wrong?
- 7:33Speaker 1: You forgot? This is what I'm saying. So there's always
- 7:38Speaker 1: gonna be something, And I think that that for us
- 7:41Speaker 1: means we have to push back against that, and we've
- 7:44Speaker 1: got to focus on money all the time so that
- 7:48Speaker 1: we are constantly educating ourselves, our children, and our community
- 7:52Speaker 1: on something that people have tried to keep us away from,
- 7:55Speaker 1: so that one it's a divisive tool not to have
- 7:58Speaker 1: us talk about money, and two so that we will
- 8:02Speaker 1: never ever because the next step. First of all, you
- 8:04Speaker 1: educate people on the how and the what's right. Then
- 8:08Speaker 1: you educate them on the unity piece, how you pull
- 8:11Speaker 1: your resources together. And I promise you that whoever plants
- 8:15Speaker 1: the seeds that money is bad for black people, those
- 8:18Speaker 1: are the same folks or that is the same force
- 8:22Speaker 1: that does not want us to figure out how to
- 8:24Speaker 1: bring our money together. So one point three or one
- 8:28Speaker 1: point four now trillion dollars that we spend will be
- 8:30Speaker 1: in our own communities. You ain't said nothing but the truth.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just saying so anyway, speaking of that,
- 8:37Speaker 1: we're UM and at the time that this interview airs,
- 8:43Speaker 1: we God willing that all things work out is they're
- 8:47Speaker 1: supposed to, will be in Africa on sort of a
- 8:52Speaker 1: pilgrimage for us where we are traveling UM to sacred Land.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I think we need it. Like we've been fighting so
- 9:00Speaker 1: much and just against so many things internally externally, I
- 9:05Speaker 1: think it's time for us to have a reset and
- 9:09Speaker 1: a focus on UM, you know, on on where are people,
- 9:13Speaker 1: where the origination of all people, let's be clear begin,
- 9:18Speaker 1: but also the activists and the community, especially since George
- 9:26Speaker 1: Floyd's murder, since people you know, since that time, people
- 9:31Speaker 1: from Africa and other places around the globe have been
- 9:35Speaker 1: reaching out to us, reaching out trying to learn more
- 9:38Speaker 1: about until freedom, teaching us things that they are doing
- 9:41Speaker 1: in their UM communities and you know, across the world
- 9:45Speaker 1: and particularly in Africa. And I think we UM are
- 9:48Speaker 1: will do ourselves justice as leaders to go deeper and
- 9:53Speaker 1: to understand that the world is not just here in America,
- 9:57Speaker 1: but there is a world outside of that, you know,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I look forward to it though, you know, just the
- 10:02Speaker 1: pilgrimage to the motherland, you know, being able to formulate
- 10:08Speaker 1: and just come into bring into fruition. What until freedom
- 10:13Speaker 1: really needs to push you to the next level. You know.
- 10:16Speaker 1: For me, it's just this work that we do is selfless,
- 10:19Speaker 1: but it is for our people, and we want to
- 10:21Speaker 1: see something. We want to cataport our organization into a
- 10:26Speaker 1: position to where is able to really effect change. And
- 10:30Speaker 1: I think going to Africa and sitting with our people
- 10:34Speaker 1: and filling the essence of the ancestors is going to
- 10:37Speaker 1: take you know, our organization into the next level of
- 10:40Speaker 1: the work that's needed to be done. So I definitely
- 10:42Speaker 1: look forward to that. So let's get into our interview today,
- 10:45Speaker 1: because we're talking about money, money, money mine. Some people
- 10:48Speaker 1: do bad things for that money, money, money, but we're
- 10:50Speaker 1: talking about the good stuff, the good stuff, and were
- 10:53Speaker 1: talking to some good brothers. You're my brothers from Arni Leisure,
- 10:57Speaker 1: you know, with Shard Bloud and Troy Miller, two of
- 11:01Speaker 1: the biggest I mean the biggest because that's what they say.
- 11:06Speaker 1: They have the biggest conversations. Say you know. They are
- 11:12Speaker 1: two of the biggest wealth connoisseurs I call them. They
- 11:17Speaker 1: talk about wealth, and they talk about financial literacy and
- 11:20Speaker 1: how it is important, not just important, it is imperative
- 11:24Speaker 1: for us to be teaching not only our kids but
- 11:26Speaker 1: everyone in our culture about how important it is and
- 11:30Speaker 1: how it is just as important as anything else that
- 11:33Speaker 1: we learn in school, if not more important. So these
- 11:36Speaker 1: brothers are gonna break it down for you. We're gonna
- 11:38Speaker 1: talk about cryptocurrency, you know, because I want to know.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I want to know about stuff. I want to know
- 11:44Speaker 1: about cryptocurrency because I might invest my money and you
- 11:47Speaker 1: in your crypto little coins. I might invest my want
- 11:50Speaker 1: to know about crypto too, but I also feel like
- 11:53Speaker 1: is it safe? So you know, I want to know
- 11:56Speaker 1: about that. And then also we got to ask them
- 11:57Speaker 1: about the federal government because out other people see folks,
- 12:01Speaker 1: black folks particularly making a little money let change, and
- 12:05Speaker 1: they're like, oh, we need regulations. So we're gonna talk
- 12:08Speaker 1: to our brothers about that. And they're gonna give us
- 12:10Speaker 1: all of the tea, all the tea earn your leisure.
- 12:13Speaker 1: First of all, I think they started in two thousand
- 12:15Speaker 1: and nineteen, but before that they were teaching financial literacy
- 12:20Speaker 1: to public school students. In the Bronx, they launched Earn
- 12:25Speaker 1: Your Leisure to discuss the money plays behind the scenes
- 12:28Speaker 1: in sports, entertainment and business. So they wanted to just
- 12:31Speaker 1: talk about what was going on, like, you know what,
- 12:34Speaker 1: how you get money in sports and all of that.
- 12:36Speaker 1: But it obviously has blossomed into so much. They have
- 12:41Speaker 1: five They have at least five million downloads of people
- 12:44Speaker 1: who have sat down and watched and listened to the episodes.
- 12:49Speaker 1: They got four hundred and twenty two thousand YouTube subscribers subscribers,
- 12:54Speaker 1: which is a big deal because you know, getting people
- 12:56Speaker 1: to subscribe on YouTube. First of all, I've not ever
- 12:59Speaker 1: dried it, but but I know other people who have,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and it seems to be quite a thing. But they
- 13:06Speaker 1: have seven hundred and two thousand Instagram followers, followers, seven
- 13:10Speaker 1: hundred thousand Instagram followers, these brothers have from talking about
- 13:14Speaker 1: financial literacy, that's dough. Let's bring on our guests, yea,
- 13:26Speaker 1: our brothers, Earn Your Leisure, Rashard Balau and Troy Melons.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I'm so happy to have them on here today so
- 13:33Speaker 1: we can like get old stuff. Yeah, you know, these
- 13:37Speaker 1: these are brothers from the b X, from the You
- 13:41Speaker 1: know what I'm saying something. I always feel good when
- 13:43Speaker 1: I see my brothers from the Bronx doing what they do.
- 13:46Speaker 1: They are elevating the culture. They are the new generation
- 13:50Speaker 1: culture leaders, like you know what they're doing with this
- 13:54Speaker 1: whole cryptocurrency and just empowerment about finances and teaching us
- 13:59Speaker 1: how to be entrepreneurs and think outside of the box
- 14:03Speaker 1: and have intergenerational wealth is just something that is inspiring.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You know, watching these brothers, I have the pleasure to
- 14:10Speaker 1: say that I was one of like early was on
- 14:12Speaker 1: this show earlier, you know what I'm saying, just watching
- 14:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Yeah, just watching them and
- 14:18Speaker 1: just being proud man. Just you know, a lot of
- 14:20Speaker 1: us we don't support or celebrate people that are actually
- 14:24Speaker 1: winning because, you know, for some reason, we see it
- 14:26Speaker 1: as as men. We don't want to do it a lot.
- 14:29Speaker 1: But I just want to say, yeah, a competition, but
- 14:30Speaker 1: I want to say that I admire you brothers, and
- 14:33Speaker 1: you inspired me every day. Today I was listening to
- 14:36Speaker 1: your Breakfast Club interview and I was like, yeah, I
- 14:38Speaker 1: gotta I gotta be out here working, I gotta do more.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I just gotta do more. Shout out to nineteen Keys,
- 14:44Speaker 1: your brothers. All of your brothers inspired me. So it's
- 14:47Speaker 1: a pleasure to have you all on our show. You
- 14:49Speaker 1: know what's funny the whole conversation around with you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: you guys being on Breakfast Club. Sometimes I talked to Charlottage.
- 14:56Speaker 1: He and I talk actually every single day, and you know,
- 15:00Speaker 1: we've been debating whether or not n f T s cryptoque,
- 15:03Speaker 1: like what's good, what's not? You know, should we be
- 15:06Speaker 1: invested here and there? So I'm glad that y'all got
- 15:09Speaker 1: a chance to sit down together because hopefully some of
- 15:11Speaker 1: the issues and concerns that he had, um and that
- 15:16Speaker 1: I have, you know, have been sort of addressed. So again,
- 15:19Speaker 1: thank you all for being with us. Thank you, thank
- 15:21Speaker 1: you for having us and mice So I appreciate you
- 15:23Speaker 1: wearing that dreams to night. Man. It's crazy, yeah you know, yeah, yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 1: I was just with my cousin, uh Punchy yesterday. He
- 15:33Speaker 1: actually came and dropped some murch off and he was
- 15:35Speaker 1: talking about you. Um. So yeah, man, keep up the
- 15:38Speaker 1: great work. I appreciate you guys, and again we appreciate
- 15:40Speaker 1: you blessing our platform and Tanica, thank you for pulling
- 15:43Speaker 1: up to activation. That was a pleasure meeting even a
- 15:46Speaker 1: person and you know, being long time supporters of you,
- 15:48Speaker 1: so this this is a privilege right here, absolutely, and
- 15:52Speaker 1: y'all you know we're talking with Shine that day. That
- 15:54Speaker 1: was an incredible interview, um that happened in that space,
- 15:59Speaker 1: and you know we had Shine on as well. I
- 16:02Speaker 1: feel like we as a community, like all of us
- 16:06Speaker 1: who are now getting older, especially you know above, like say,
- 16:09Speaker 1: I guess thirty five, but definitely forty, we're getting We're
- 16:14Speaker 1: understanding what was lacking and what we weren't taught when
- 16:18Speaker 1: we were younger. We're getting it. And I think that
- 16:21Speaker 1: the fact that we're not getting it at seventy and
- 16:23Speaker 1: we're so much closer to the younger generation, I think
- 16:27Speaker 1: this generation is gonna be a little bit different and
- 16:30Speaker 1: and better for the information that people like you are
- 16:34Speaker 1: trying to teach, so, you know, the financial literacy. And
- 16:38Speaker 1: I guess a question that I would ask in that
- 16:40Speaker 1: is like why do y'all feel like financial literacy is
- 16:44Speaker 1: so important? Like this is not you know, is it?
- 16:46Speaker 1: Is it? It's not the cool hip hop, it's not
- 16:49Speaker 1: the you know, Oh I'm a rapper. I'm this that
- 16:51Speaker 1: in the third you know you you're doing something that's
- 16:54Speaker 1: very different, and so why would you say this was
- 16:56Speaker 1: where you wanted to lean in. Well, I think it's
- 16:59Speaker 1: import one because I was talking about this the other day,
- 17:01Speaker 1: Like if you look at the school system, Um, there's
- 17:04Speaker 1: certain things that are like mandatory that you have to learn.
- 17:07Speaker 1: At least when I was in school, it was like
- 17:08Speaker 1: earth science, we had a regius exam, like you had
- 17:10Speaker 1: to take earth science. You had to take chemistry, you
- 17:13Speaker 1: gotta take math, Um, you gotta take like biology, different
- 17:17Speaker 1: things like history and UM. I don't understand why financial
- 17:21Speaker 1: literacy and finances is it's something that's mandatory because it's like,
- 17:24Speaker 1: let's take earth science or biology, and that's great to
- 17:26Speaker 1: know we need more scientists, but the vast majority of
- 17:29Speaker 1: people are not going to use those skill sets unless
- 17:30Speaker 1: you're a chemist or a doctor. Where every single person
- 17:34Speaker 1: has to have financial literacy. It doesn't matter whether you
- 17:37Speaker 1: work for sanitation, or whether you're President of United States,
- 17:39Speaker 1: or whether you're a podcast or whether you're a basketball player.
- 17:41Speaker 1: The common denominator is that everybody's gonna pay taxes. Everybody
- 17:45Speaker 1: has to retire everybody you know has to, you know,
- 17:48Speaker 1: save money. Everybody opens bank accounts, everybody uses credit cards.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Everybody you know should be concerned about their credit score.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Everybody at one point in time is gonna have to
- 17:56Speaker 1: live somewhere, whether you're in an apartment or whether you
- 17:58Speaker 1: own a home. So these are things is that every
- 18:00Speaker 1: single person does, but we're not educated on it. Like
- 18:02Speaker 1: there's no education on how to buy a home in
- 18:05Speaker 1: the school system. And what happens is that you just
- 18:06Speaker 1: go out there and you just wing it. Go to
- 18:08Speaker 1: a bank. You don't know if they're giving you the
- 18:10Speaker 1: best interest rate, you don't know what type of mortgage
- 18:12Speaker 1: you're getting. You just you know, hopefully you just don't
- 18:13Speaker 1: get taken advantage. You don't even think about getting taken
- 18:15Speaker 1: advantage of because you don't even have any knowledge to
- 18:18Speaker 1: even ask a question. So taxes, same thing, Like, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: we see so many people falling in issues and hard
- 18:24Speaker 1: times with taxes. People get drafted into the NBA, don't
- 18:26Speaker 1: even know that they have to actually pay taxes one
- 18:29Speaker 1: years old. So I feel like financial literacy is one
- 18:31Speaker 1: of these things that just as important as reading and
- 18:33Speaker 1: writing and math and um, I feel like you know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: since it's not you know, taught in the school system,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and since it for a long time it wasn't popular,
- 18:42Speaker 1: it wasn't sexy. Then it was just you know, our
- 18:44Speaker 1: obligation and just kind of champion. And I feel like
- 18:46Speaker 1: everybody has different you know, strengths and different missions that
- 18:49Speaker 1: they're on. Some people who do like the political side.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Some people do you know, criminal reform. You know, our
- 18:54Speaker 1: our angle is financial literacy and just try to empower
- 18:56Speaker 1: people through that. So I think it's extremely important something
- 18:59Speaker 1: that you know, everybody, um should should be aware of.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Everybody should should be knowledgeable of, and um I think
- 19:06Speaker 1: for a long time, you know, people were making bad
- 19:09Speaker 1: decisions because they just wasn't fully educated. So it's like,
- 19:12Speaker 1: you know, you think that you have to you know,
- 19:15Speaker 1: sell drugs or you have to you know, risk your
- 19:18Speaker 1: life to make some money. But then you realize that
- 19:20Speaker 1: you can actually make more money by doing something legal.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It might take a little bit longer, but if you
- 19:24Speaker 1: had the information beforehand, then you might still be alive
- 19:27Speaker 1: or you might not be doing a twenty five year
- 19:29Speaker 1: prison sentence. So I think it's like life of death
- 19:32Speaker 1: financial literacy. Yeah, I agree, man, it's it's a life
- 19:34Speaker 1: of death situation, right, the information can actually free you
- 19:37Speaker 1: from the situation that you could put yourself and potentially
- 19:40Speaker 1: if you don't have it. That's kind of what we
- 19:42Speaker 1: started with it. And it's funny because you kind of said,
- 19:45Speaker 1: like it's not hip hop. For us, it was hip hop.
- 19:47Speaker 1: It was like we were hearing messages in the music
- 19:49Speaker 1: and saying, like, that's a lesson right there. So it
- 19:51Speaker 1: reminded me of the first lesson that we ever did.
- 19:53Speaker 1: It was we used jay Z and when he said
- 19:55Speaker 1: all black Scots sports entertainment, it was like we really
- 19:57Speaker 1: sat sat with that, like is that true? Like if
- 20:00Speaker 1: we look at all the people we ever looked up
- 20:02Speaker 1: to and if they were wealthy, it always came from
- 20:04Speaker 1: sports entertainment. And so that was a mission. But there's
- 20:07Speaker 1: always something inside the music that we were like, all right,
- 20:09Speaker 1: that can be a gateway. We know there's something that
- 20:12Speaker 1: is intense enchanted about the music because the kids listen
- 20:15Speaker 1: to it, and so if they're listening to it, let's
- 20:17Speaker 1: find something that we can actually teach from. And so
- 20:19Speaker 1: when we heard Beyonce say like pay me an equity,
- 20:21Speaker 1: all right, there goes a lesson and then let's teach
- 20:22Speaker 1: about what equity is. And when little baby says, look
- 20:25Speaker 1: I made a hun a million, I can't chill yet, like, oh,
- 20:27Speaker 1: there's a lesson here, right, he's delaying his gratification for
- 20:30Speaker 1: a later time. And so we always found the music
- 20:32Speaker 1: as something that would be the candy, right, and we're
- 20:35Speaker 1: gonna put the medicine inside of it where we're gonna
- 20:37Speaker 1: actually teach from those that positions, and so it's to
- 20:40Speaker 1: make sure of both. We We understood that the younger
- 20:42Speaker 1: kids needed it because that's what we were working with
- 20:44Speaker 1: at the time. And then we realized it wasn't just
- 20:47Speaker 1: an age thing. It was like everybody thing. Right, The
- 20:50Speaker 1: kids needed it, and so did their parents, and so
- 20:52Speaker 1: did their grandparents. And so we took it upon ourselves
- 20:54Speaker 1: and say, look, we have an obligation here. We have
- 20:57Speaker 1: an opportunity to actually educate everybody. At the same time,
- 21:00Speaker 1: financial literacy really doesn't have and it is a limit
- 21:02Speaker 1: to it, right, Like somebody at twelve might know more
- 21:04Speaker 1: than somebody at five. Right, it's just if they have
- 21:07Speaker 1: access to it. Right, Those conversations that you have at
- 21:09Speaker 1: your table, if you're sitting at the table, could change
- 21:11Speaker 1: your whole life, and so I was like, all right, well,
- 21:14Speaker 1: if we're gonna take it to the kids, let's get
- 21:16Speaker 1: everybody in there at the same time. And that's kind
- 21:18Speaker 1: of what we've done. So what was that process, Like,
- 21:21Speaker 1: you still you started out, I know you have started
- 21:23Speaker 1: out in public schools teaching financialidacy. What was the process
- 21:26Speaker 1: like saying, you know what, we're gonna take this and
- 21:28Speaker 1: we're gonna create our own platform and we're gonna make
- 21:31Speaker 1: a branch out and make it more universal and national. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 1: so it was. I was teaching in the Bronx for
- 21:36Speaker 1: eight years and kind of just was like, man, like,
- 21:39Speaker 1: they don't they're not equipping these kids with the tools
- 21:41Speaker 1: that they're gonna need once they leave these buildings. And
- 21:44Speaker 1: every day I come in and like it was like
- 21:45Speaker 1: a reset, Like I could teach as much as I
- 21:47Speaker 1: wanted to, but the environment what they were in after
- 21:50Speaker 1: they left the classroom, but always trump whatever I was
- 21:53Speaker 1: trying to do, like this, this ain't gonna be the way,
- 21:55Speaker 1: Like I want to create a program. So I had
- 21:57Speaker 1: the opportunity to create a program or some internship program
- 22:00Speaker 1: and where kids would come they interview and um, they
- 22:02Speaker 1: tell me what they want to be in the future,
- 22:03Speaker 1: and I'll go out in the community and try to
- 22:05Speaker 1: find him an internship. And basically they're performed on the internship,
- 22:08Speaker 1: we would pay them. So I'm like, all right, they
- 22:09Speaker 1: come into contact with money, let's teach them about money.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So twice a week they would go to the internship.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Twice a week we had in the classroom. And so
- 22:16Speaker 1: I was like, if I haven't in the classroom, let's
- 22:18Speaker 1: give them six weeks of education that they missed for
- 22:20Speaker 1: ten months. That's how I was treating it, like I
- 22:22Speaker 1: knew ten months. Like they're gonna learn, like you said,
- 22:25Speaker 1: earth science and all these things that they may not apply.
- 22:27Speaker 1: But they better know what credit is. They need to
- 22:30Speaker 1: know what taxes are, right, they need to know how
- 22:32Speaker 1: to balance a bank account. They need to write a check. Right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: They don't even know how to write a check at
- 22:36Speaker 1: this point. And so I was like, all right, we
- 22:37Speaker 1: have an opportunity here. At the time, he was starting
- 22:39Speaker 1: his financial advising career something like that, Let's just combine this,
- 22:42Speaker 1: like we're gonna teach financial literacy. I'll do the education
- 22:45Speaker 1: part and you'll teach the finance. Like I'll write the
- 22:47Speaker 1: lessons and you'll be the face of it. And so
- 22:49Speaker 1: we kind of started there and then it kind of
- 22:51Speaker 1: call attraction because he was like, look, let's record this,
- 22:53Speaker 1: this is, this is we got something here, and he
- 22:55Speaker 1: took it to social media, and once he went to
- 22:57Speaker 1: social media, it just kind of crazy. He actually started
- 23:01Speaker 1: recording it and then doing shows, and people like, well,
- 23:03Speaker 1: where's the rest of this? I need to get more
- 23:05Speaker 1: this education? Where can we get it? And he was
- 23:07Speaker 1: kind of like, all right, I'm growing my platform. You
- 23:10Speaker 1: want to do a podcast? And I was just like, yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 1: it's my brother. Whatever you want to do, we're gonna
- 23:14Speaker 1: do it. You know what I'm saying. We've had businesses
- 23:16Speaker 1: before that didn't work. So I was like, let's just
- 23:18Speaker 1: support him on his vision. Like he wants to do
- 23:19Speaker 1: a social media thing, let's get the podcast as an
- 23:22Speaker 1: extension of it. And the rest is kind of history.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I love it because you know, we don't we really
- 23:28Speaker 1: now Like before it used to be like hip hop groups.
- 23:31Speaker 1: He used to be duels. Now everybody's like an individual, right,
- 23:34Speaker 1: They're doing an individual things. So when I'm watching two
- 23:36Speaker 1: brothers who are stars and you know, educated and brilliant
- 23:40Speaker 1: in their own rank, come together and say now we
- 23:43Speaker 1: we're gonna combine our forces to do something that's dope.
- 23:46Speaker 1: You know, I just wanted to I want to celebrate
- 23:48Speaker 1: that and tell us that we need to get back
- 23:50Speaker 1: to that. You know what I'm saying. I don't feel
- 23:52Speaker 1: not feeling that I have to compete with my brother
- 23:54Speaker 1: or you see so many different situations break up. We
- 23:57Speaker 1: just watching y'all just continue to grow. You know. I
- 24:00Speaker 1: know it's ye'll probably go through your own thing, but
- 24:02Speaker 1: the way that y'all present to the world and the
- 24:04Speaker 1: way that y'all represent and give these messages and make
- 24:08Speaker 1: it cool, it's just something that's just dope, man. So
- 24:11Speaker 1: I just wanted to salute you on that. I appreciate.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I told him that the I mean, there's a conversations
- 24:15Speaker 1: we've had for over twenty five years. I said. The
- 24:17Speaker 1: biggest difference now is that the world gets to hear them.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And so it's important, right, Like, people are like, how
- 24:22Speaker 1: how do y'all do it? How can we duplicate It's
- 24:24Speaker 1: gonna be tough, Like talk to somebody from twenty five
- 24:26Speaker 1: years every day that that's part of the formula, and
- 24:29Speaker 1: so like, it was nothing for me to share my
- 24:31Speaker 1: knowledge with education in the same way I was learning
- 24:33Speaker 1: about finance as the kids are learning because I'm like, well,
- 24:36Speaker 1: these things I don't know. I didn't know about life
- 24:38Speaker 1: insurance before I became a client of it, and he
- 24:40Speaker 1: actually showed me these steps. And so that's the thing
- 24:42Speaker 1: we always talked about, like you put your ego to
- 24:44Speaker 1: the side, like can we all win? We're gonna get
- 24:47Speaker 1: there faster together. And so it was like, I don't
- 24:48Speaker 1: care if if somebody looks at him and like he's
- 24:50Speaker 1: the star to show that's all right, we know what
- 24:52Speaker 1: that name behind us is what means more to anything, right,
- 24:55Speaker 1: because that's what that's what changes the game, That's what
- 24:57Speaker 1: leaves a legacy, like the stuff that we're doing inside
- 25:00Speaker 1: that name. Did you always have a love this one left?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Did you always have like a love of finding? Like
- 25:06Speaker 1: what created this love for finances? To I was like,
- 25:09Speaker 1: this is what I wanted to get involved in. Yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 1: me personally, Troy story is different, but I always I
- 25:15Speaker 1: always was fascinated by by finances. I'm not really sure
- 25:19Speaker 1: exactly like where Like my dad was always an entrepreneur,
- 25:21Speaker 1: So that's something that he really instilled in me early on.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Was like always worked for yourself and you know that
- 25:26Speaker 1: that's like, that's like the era that he came from.
- 25:29Speaker 1: And um, I just remember, like at an early age,
- 25:32Speaker 1: like just being fascinated with like movies like Wall Street
- 25:35Speaker 1: and Barbarians at the Gate. It was kind of weird
- 25:37Speaker 1: looking back on it now because no, none of my
- 25:38Speaker 1: other friends was interested in that stuff. But that was
- 25:40Speaker 1: just fascinating me to see people like that was wearing
- 25:42Speaker 1: suits and making you know, so much money on Wall Street.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And then I went to Wall Street. My dad took
- 25:47Speaker 1: me to Wall Street and it was just amazing for
- 25:50Speaker 1: me to see like that was back before the Twin
- 25:52Speaker 1: Towers um got blown up, and it was just amazing
- 25:54Speaker 1: to me. The world was just moving so quickly and
- 25:57Speaker 1: it was just so much stuff going on. Everybody has
- 25:59Speaker 1: suits on. It was just it was just fascinating to me.
- 26:02Speaker 1: And I was just I always knew since I was
- 26:03Speaker 1: a little kid, like I want to do this, I
- 26:05Speaker 1: want to trade stocks, I want to work on Wall Set.
- 26:07Speaker 1: That's what I originally want to do, was like work
- 26:09Speaker 1: on Wall Street. So I always knew that I wanted
- 26:11Speaker 1: to do something with finance, and I always knew like
- 26:13Speaker 1: entrepreneurship was like something I knew. I never wanted to
- 26:16Speaker 1: have a job, Like I knew that that definitely wasn't
- 26:18Speaker 1: gonna suit my personality. So yeah, I always just had
- 26:22Speaker 1: kind of had like a fascination for for the money
- 26:24Speaker 1: ever since, like I was like a little kid. Yeah
- 26:26Speaker 1: for me, I'm my parents is Jamaican man, so like
- 26:29Speaker 1: I'm first generation to this. Like we didn't have conversations
- 26:32Speaker 1: about finance, Like the only conversation I had was amongst
- 26:34Speaker 1: my friends. And so it became like a challenge for me,
- 26:37Speaker 1: Like I'm a I'm a student. I'll say that to
- 26:38Speaker 1: the to the day I died, Like I'm always trying
- 26:40Speaker 1: to learn. And so anytime somebody's having a conversation about finance,
- 26:43Speaker 1: if I don't know, I gotta go read. And I
- 26:45Speaker 1: was like, look, they're not gonna have another conversation and
- 26:48Speaker 1: I can't be a part of it, you know what
- 26:49Speaker 1: I mean. Like it became a challenge like, wait, they're
- 26:52Speaker 1: talking about stocks, I need to go learn stocks. Right,
- 26:54Speaker 1: they're talking about life, I need to go learn about
- 26:56Speaker 1: life insurance. And so the more I started reading and
- 26:59Speaker 1: more conversations, I kept being part of them, like all
- 27:01Speaker 1: right now, I'm grasping this and my natural things like
- 27:03Speaker 1: as soon as I learned something, I gotta teach it,
- 27:06Speaker 1: right because that's what that's just what we do in education.
- 27:08Speaker 1: If I learned something, the true test to see if
- 27:10Speaker 1: I grasped can I teach somebody else? Can they understand
- 27:13Speaker 1: what I just learned? And so that just started and
- 27:16Speaker 1: never stopped, right so even to this day, Like there's
- 27:18Speaker 1: something in the news that's going on. If I don't
- 27:20Speaker 1: know about it, I'm researching it and then I'm going
- 27:22Speaker 1: back to teach it to the people because they need
- 27:24Speaker 1: to know it. They might have missed it or they
- 27:25Speaker 1: didn't probably understand it. And I think that's one of
- 27:27Speaker 1: the gifts we have. It's kind of making these complex
- 27:30Speaker 1: conversations and complex topics very digestible to an audience that
- 27:33Speaker 1: may not have thought that they could understand it. Um.
- 27:36Speaker 1: So you know, it's it's like one of those things
- 27:38Speaker 1: and the responsibility on our parts like, all right, we
- 27:41Speaker 1: know what we have to do. We gotta do it
- 27:43Speaker 1: every day because they people are not gonna lie on
- 27:46Speaker 1: the typical aspect of hey, this is how news is
- 27:49Speaker 1: reported to them. Now, I know they look at us
- 27:50Speaker 1: as a source, like if they say it and they
- 27:53Speaker 1: can break it down and we can understand it and
- 27:55Speaker 1: now apply it. You know, I was going to ask
- 27:59Speaker 1: a question. I am asking a question that may not
- 28:01Speaker 1: make sense to some, but it is an issue that
- 28:05Speaker 1: people have where they feel like they know everything right,
- 28:08Speaker 1: like they already know everything, so they're not really growing
- 28:10Speaker 1: and don't know why because they're not investing in further
- 28:14Speaker 1: development even after they've made the money or you know,
- 28:17Speaker 1: got the million followers. And I guess you know, that's
- 28:21Speaker 1: the question I have for you all. Do you feel
- 28:22Speaker 1: like you're still learning about even the things you are
- 28:25Speaker 1: already experts at, Like are you still keeping up with
- 28:29Speaker 1: the new tax laws and really keeping yourself um invested
- 28:34Speaker 1: in your personal development? Yeah, for sure. I saw something
- 28:37Speaker 1: on the other day on TikTok and it was like,
- 28:39Speaker 1: the two biggest things that millionaires do that other people
- 28:43Speaker 1: don't do is that they cultivate relationships and they read
- 28:46Speaker 1: a lot. And I feel like that's one of the
- 28:48Speaker 1: greatest benefits of having this this platform is that it's
- 28:50Speaker 1: a great networking tool and you know, we get to
- 28:53Speaker 1: like connect with some of the brightest minds, whether it's
- 28:55Speaker 1: Wall Street Trap and nineteen Keys or everyone even up
- 28:57Speaker 1: to Mark Cuban, like we connected with him. So it's
- 28:59Speaker 1: like the more you learn, the more you realize that
- 29:02Speaker 1: you don't know. And that just goes back to you know,
- 29:04Speaker 1: being being humble enough to understand that there's always somebody
- 29:06Speaker 1: that knows more than you. So you know, education is
- 29:10Speaker 1: something that's like it's just so important and you realize, like,
- 29:14Speaker 1: you know, so many doors unlocked for you just by
- 29:17Speaker 1: knowing things. And it's unfortunate because the vast majority of people,
- 29:21Speaker 1: especially like you know, on our communities, um just uneducated
- 29:24Speaker 1: on so many different things. And it's like, you know,
- 29:26Speaker 1: that's that's for a variety of different reasons, but you know,
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's like them, if they had some level of education,
- 29:31Speaker 1: then they would have a greater understanding of things and
- 29:34Speaker 1: the world would open up to them. And then you
- 29:36Speaker 1: see other people and that's really all that they do
- 29:39Speaker 1: is educate themselves because they know, like the more that
- 29:41Speaker 1: they learned, the more relationships that they have, it's just
- 29:43Speaker 1: gonna make eat money a lot easier to flow into
- 29:46Speaker 1: their direction. So yeah, for sure, for us, we we
- 29:49Speaker 1: definitely learned as much as we possibly can and the
- 29:51Speaker 1: world has changing so quickly to nobody could really be
- 29:53Speaker 1: an expert on anything because everything changes so quickly. So
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's like n f t S wasn't even around two
- 29:58Speaker 1: years ago. Cryptocurrency, like you know what I mean. So
- 30:00Speaker 1: we're talked about the metaverse like this, so much stuff
- 30:02Speaker 1: that's just that's just happening in in in the last
- 30:05Speaker 1: five years, Like imagine what's going to happen in the
- 30:08Speaker 1: next ten years. So no matter how much you think
- 30:10Speaker 1: you know already, if you stop learning, you're gonna become
- 30:13Speaker 1: a dinosaur. So it's definitely something that you know, we
- 30:15Speaker 1: constantly educate ourselves, and like I said, that's kind of
- 30:18Speaker 1: one of the things that really helped our platform growth.
- 30:21Speaker 1: It's because it's a real organic vibe where we interview
- 30:24Speaker 1: people and we actually ask questions to educate ourselves, so
- 30:28Speaker 1: that the audience kind of gets that because people tell
- 30:30Speaker 1: me one time, maybe I could tell you wanted to
- 30:32Speaker 1: know that question, that's why you asked it. Because I'm
- 30:34Speaker 1: looking at like I'm a student, like educate me, and
- 30:38Speaker 1: by educating me to educating whoever else listens. Thousands millions
- 30:42Speaker 1: of people that listen to the to the interview, so yeah,
- 30:44Speaker 1: education is extremely important. Before you, before you, before you
- 30:50Speaker 1: jump in, let me just put this an extra question
- 30:53Speaker 1: in what would you tell the for the beginner, especially
- 30:57Speaker 1: young people, where do they go so they can get
- 31:00Speaker 1: started educating themselves. We're gonna I mean, there's plenty of outlets, right, Like,
- 31:05Speaker 1: like we said, we have a platform that they can
- 31:07Speaker 1: do so YouTube University is always a great place. I mean,
- 31:10Speaker 1: there's different podcasts, not just us in the space, but
- 31:12Speaker 1: different podcasts that they can learned from. It's really just
- 31:14Speaker 1: what their interest is. And that's kind of like we
- 31:16Speaker 1: kind of prod ourselves on, like we're gonna cover so
- 31:19Speaker 1: many topics that you can find something that you're gonna
- 31:21Speaker 1: be interested in. Like for so long, like I said,
- 31:24Speaker 1: even at J Line, it was like sports entertainment, it
- 31:26Speaker 1: was like those are the things we're gonna be. That's it.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Like we're gonna be a rapper, We're gonna be in
- 31:30Speaker 1: some form of entertainment, or we're gonna play sports. And
- 31:33Speaker 1: so now when we bring on experts and people who
- 31:36Speaker 1: are familiar in other different fields, it's like, all right,
- 31:38Speaker 1: well I never thought I could own a truck and company,
- 31:40Speaker 1: but that seems interesting, or you know what, I never
- 31:42Speaker 1: thought that airbnb could be a viable business that seems interesting,
- 31:46Speaker 1: and so we become like almost a gumbled sup of
- 31:47Speaker 1: different different opportunities, and you know, we kind of live
- 31:50Speaker 1: by that thing. Right. In order to be something, you
- 31:52Speaker 1: gotta see it. And so we're gonna put as many
- 31:54Speaker 1: people that look like us in these positions, but tell you, like, yo,
- 31:57Speaker 1: you can do this, I'm doing it. Here's a stay ups.
- 32:00Speaker 1: I think that's one of the things that you said,
- 32:01Speaker 1: like from generation generation, we watch people do things, but
- 32:04Speaker 1: we never knew how. We just saw the end result, like, hey,
- 32:07Speaker 1: they made it to this point, let's celebrate them, congratulations.
- 32:10Speaker 1: The part we were missing was the how to. And
- 32:12Speaker 1: so I think like with this information agent, what kind
- 32:14Speaker 1: of doing is like all right, here's what they did,
- 32:16Speaker 1: here's how they did it, here's how you can also
- 32:19Speaker 1: do it. So it's it's a it's a drastic shift.
- 32:21Speaker 1: So when you're talking about the next generation being so
- 32:23Speaker 1: far ahead, yeah, imagine then eighteen year old kid or
- 32:25Speaker 1: the fourteen year old kids who's listening to this episode,
- 32:27Speaker 1: who now has a Vendom machine company because he heard
- 32:29Speaker 1: a podcast, right, Imagine what he does from the next
- 32:33Speaker 1: four years. Just being in entrepreneur at fourteen and seeing
- 32:36Speaker 1: what a slack and experience went. That's like at eighteen
- 32:38Speaker 1: college maybe something he wants to do, or he might
- 32:40Speaker 1: just say, you know what, I want to continue running
- 32:41Speaker 1: miss business that I have because a lot of times
- 32:43Speaker 1: our kids, you know, and that was some of the
- 32:45Speaker 1: things we were experiencing. Like we're sitting these kids at fourteen,
- 32:48Speaker 1: and they're gonna make the biggest financial decision of their
- 32:50Speaker 1: life in the next three years, and they have no
- 32:52Speaker 1: idea that it's the biggest financial decision of their life.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Right when we're talking about student loans and we're talking
- 32:56Speaker 1: about debt, and we're talking about interests, and we're talking
- 32:58Speaker 1: about cosigners. All these terms of unfamiliar to the fourteen
- 33:02Speaker 1: year old here, but in three years they need to
- 33:03Speaker 1: know it. And so we want to keep their their
- 33:05Speaker 1: minds shop to like, Yo, if you want to go
- 33:07Speaker 1: that route, here's what you need to know. If you
- 33:10Speaker 1: don't want to go that route, here like a million
- 33:12Speaker 1: different options that also can be viable for you in
- 33:15Speaker 1: the future. That's okay. So what is cryptocurrency? What is like?
- 33:22Speaker 1: What is it in the nutshell? What is cryptocurrency in
- 33:25Speaker 1: the nutshef. Yeah, I mean crypto. It comes in many
- 33:29Speaker 1: different forms, So I'll go through some different ones, but
- 33:32Speaker 1: I think the most popular, well I definitely know the
- 33:34Speaker 1: most popular one is Bitcoin, and that's the that's the
- 33:37Speaker 1: biggest cryptocurrency and the one that most people kind of
- 33:40Speaker 1: you know, recognize and and know about at least they've
- 33:43Speaker 1: heard about bitcoin. So we'll talk about bitcoin first then
- 33:46Speaker 1: all that Troy kind of going to some others. But
- 33:49Speaker 1: bitcoin is extremely uh interesting because ain't nobody knows like
- 33:53Speaker 1: who actually started it. It just kind of like appeared
- 33:56Speaker 1: years ago and now it's become, you know, a phenomenon um.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But I think the word currency is a little misleading
- 34:02Speaker 1: because currency, in order it has to have some some traits, right,
- 34:08Speaker 1: Where a currency is usually has some level of stability um,
- 34:12Speaker 1: And a currency is something that you actually exchange for
- 34:15Speaker 1: some level of you know, value or you know, you
- 34:18Speaker 1: you buy some things things that nature's like a bartering system,
- 34:21Speaker 1: where with bitcoin and a lot of other cryptocurrencies, that's
- 34:25Speaker 1: not really the case. It's more so of a store
- 34:26Speaker 1: of value more comparable to like goal, but a lot
- 34:29Speaker 1: more volatile meaning um, it's kind of hard to use
- 34:32Speaker 1: something as currency when the price fluctuates so crazy. So
- 34:36Speaker 1: it's like sixty one week and then next week is forty, right,
- 34:39Speaker 1: So you can't really use that kind of as currency
- 34:41Speaker 1: because it's like if if my haircut is gonna be
- 34:43Speaker 1: forty dollars, I gotta be able to pay forty dollars.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I can't pay forty dollars and then next day the
- 34:48Speaker 1: head because it's gonna be sixty five dollars because the
- 34:50Speaker 1: price of the value is going up and down. So
- 34:53Speaker 1: and then also, you know bitcoin started at less than
- 34:56Speaker 1: a dollar and has peaked at sixty dollars, right, So
- 35:00Speaker 1: it's it's it's been the best return on your investment
- 35:04Speaker 1: out of like any asset class in the last fifteen years.
- 35:08Speaker 1: So being that most people are looking at it as
- 35:10Speaker 1: an investment, so they're not really trading it for or
- 35:14Speaker 1: using it as currency, Like I'm not gonna give you
- 35:16Speaker 1: bitcoin for a burger if I think that this is
- 35:19Speaker 1: gonna quadruple in value over the next five years. So
- 35:22Speaker 1: the word currency is a little misleading, I think when
- 35:25Speaker 1: you start to look at it more of like digital gold. Um,
- 35:28Speaker 1: that's something that you know, people can kind of wrap
- 35:30Speaker 1: their heads around a little bit easier because we look
- 35:32Speaker 1: at gold and gold really has and people say, like, well,
- 35:35Speaker 1: crypto has no value, but nothing really has value other
- 35:38Speaker 1: than what we believe it has value, right, like even gold, um, gold, Yeah,
- 35:44Speaker 1: it has some uses where you can actually use gold,
- 35:46Speaker 1: but for the most part, most people are kind of
- 35:48Speaker 1: just hoarding gold, and it's just always been something that
- 35:51Speaker 1: has been valuable since you know, thousands of years ago,
- 35:54Speaker 1: and it has grown up in value. So we place
- 35:57Speaker 1: value in gold, we wear gold, so people think that
- 36:00Speaker 1: gold is valuable. But the minute that people really think
- 36:02Speaker 1: that gold has no value, then goal is not gonna
- 36:04Speaker 1: be valuable anymore. But it's just been valuable for so
- 36:07Speaker 1: long that it's been like a staple the store value,
- 36:10Speaker 1: so you put you know, you can have gold and
- 36:13Speaker 1: and store it and then it goes up over the
- 36:15Speaker 1: course of the time, where bitcoin is kind of like
- 36:16Speaker 1: the same thing. So that's why a lot of people
- 36:19Speaker 1: compare bitcoin to like digital gold. Um. But but do
- 36:23Speaker 1: you sell it? But selling it? Right? Am I am?
- 36:26Speaker 1: I am I right? That's being able to sell it
- 36:28Speaker 1: is the value for most of it. Well, it's it
- 36:33Speaker 1: has a lot of different values, so you have the
- 36:34Speaker 1: blockchain technology. So one of the things is that it
- 36:37Speaker 1: takes the power. The original idea of cryptocurrency is taking
- 36:41Speaker 1: the power out of the banking system, right, So it's like,
- 36:44Speaker 1: you know, going through the bank, everything is tracked and
- 36:47Speaker 1: they know a serial numbers, and you know, it's your
- 36:51Speaker 1: money is being controlled by central institutions, whether it's you know,
- 36:55Speaker 1: the federal government banking branches, it's it's being controlled and
- 37:00Speaker 1: it's it's under a roof. Where this idea is to
- 37:03Speaker 1: kind of have a house with no roof, where there's
- 37:05Speaker 1: there's really no control, there's no regulation, and um, it's
- 37:08Speaker 1: just a pair to pair transaction. So if I'm sending
- 37:10Speaker 1: my saw money through bitcoin, it's just me and him.
- 37:14Speaker 1: We don't have to use Chase Bank, we don't have
- 37:16Speaker 1: to use cash app, we don't have to use zel,
- 37:19Speaker 1: we don't have to use Vemo. We can just use
- 37:22Speaker 1: peer to peer transaction. I send you the money, it
- 37:24Speaker 1: goes through the blockchain, and that we we eliminate, we
- 37:27Speaker 1: cut out the middleman. So that was the original premise
- 37:30Speaker 1: of it. So that's one of the benefits is that
- 37:32Speaker 1: you know, it takes the power out of the centralized
- 37:34Speaker 1: banking system. Another benefit of it is the the speed
- 37:38Speaker 1: because um, you know, with the blockchain, everything moves a
- 37:41Speaker 1: lot quicker. So like even now to this day, you know,
- 37:44Speaker 1: if I asked you, what's the fastest way to get
- 37:47Speaker 1: a million dollars in cash from New York to London,
- 37:52Speaker 1: Like if I wanted to to send it to somebody
- 37:55Speaker 1: in London, what do you what do you think the
- 37:56Speaker 1: fastest way to get a million dollars from New York
- 37:58Speaker 1: to London would be? M M. I guess I would
- 38:02Speaker 1: be thinking I'm old, So for me it's too I'm
- 38:06Speaker 1: almost still at sender check but FedEx okay, so that's
- 38:10Speaker 1: a little fast. But I guess some type just just
- 38:15Speaker 1: money period. If I wanted to just get a million,
- 38:20Speaker 1: so the fastest way is to actually get on a
- 38:22Speaker 1: plane and fly five hours to London, because even for
- 38:25Speaker 1: that much money, it's going to take like at least
- 38:27Speaker 1: two days for it to clear. So that's kind of
- 38:28Speaker 1: crazy if you think about it. In in the fastest
- 38:33Speaker 1: way to get a million dollars from New York to
- 38:35Speaker 1: London is to actually get on a plane with a
- 38:37Speaker 1: million dollars of cash and fly because the banking system
- 38:39Speaker 1: it takes two days for that to happen. So now
- 38:42Speaker 1: with the blockchain, depending on what crypto you could use
- 38:44Speaker 1: that in the middle, in a matter of minutes or
- 38:46Speaker 1: amount of seconds, you can move that kind of money.
- 38:48Speaker 1: So it's that's another benefit as well, is that it's
- 38:51Speaker 1: a lot more efficient than wait. Wait, you gotta wait
- 38:55Speaker 1: because you know I'm I'm on a slow don't do
- 39:00Speaker 1: I have to buy bitcoin or not bitcoin? I have
- 39:03Speaker 1: to buy some type of cryptocurrent, see of a million
- 39:06Speaker 1: dollars and then send. Is that the way it works?
- 39:09Speaker 1: Like you gotta have the value in crypto already. Yeah,
- 39:13Speaker 1: So if if a bitcoin is worth let's say it's
- 39:15Speaker 1: worth forty dollars, you have to put in your U
- 39:17Speaker 1: s D like the dollar and buy that much. So
- 39:21Speaker 1: if you use a million dollars, you have to obviously
- 39:23Speaker 1: do the math on it. It will be that many coins.
- 39:25Speaker 1: So let's say it's like sixty coins, right, so you'll
- 39:27Speaker 1: have sixty bitcoin. That would be the equivalent of a
- 39:30Speaker 1: million dollars. That makes sense, Yeah, so that that would
- 39:36Speaker 1: be the equivalent of it, and so like then you
- 39:38Speaker 1: can actually send that million dollars. You can send those
- 39:40Speaker 1: sixty coins from pair to pair through the block chain.
- 39:43Speaker 1: So like the block change is a ledger literally taking
- 39:46Speaker 1: an accurate record that can't be duplicated from one transaction
- 39:51Speaker 1: to the next. So okay, so like you said, go
- 39:56Speaker 1: backs USD No, it doesn't. It doesn't go go go
- 40:01Speaker 1: used to back used to. But they ever, I think
- 40:05Speaker 1: I forgot who was the president, um that took us
- 40:07Speaker 1: off of that. So for the last fifty sixty years,
- 40:10Speaker 1: the dollar is not actually backed by anything. It's only
- 40:12Speaker 1: backed by the faith belief in the dollar, the military obviously,
- 40:16Speaker 1: and things of that nature. So yeah, then nothing is
- 40:19Speaker 1: really backed by anything. Yeah, cryptocurrency makes sense because it's
- 40:26Speaker 1: whatever belief that we put into any level of currency
- 40:30Speaker 1: is the value that it has at this point. Exactly.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I did a lesson once with with some fifth graders
- 40:34Speaker 1: and I asked them how much of the dollar worth
- 40:36Speaker 1: and they were like, it's a dollar. Well, I'm like, well,
- 40:38Speaker 1: if something can be duplicated at a rapid pace at
- 40:41Speaker 1: a numerous amounts, how much is it really worth? And
- 40:44Speaker 1: they started thinking like oh, and so that was like
- 40:46Speaker 1: kind of the Lee way into teaching cryptocurrency. It was like,
- 40:49Speaker 1: it's just a belief system, right, Like, if I believe
- 40:51Speaker 1: it's worth as much. That's how much is worth. So
- 40:52Speaker 1: when we see a fluctuate from forty forty thousand to
- 40:55Speaker 1: fifty thousand, fifty thousand, that's how much is worth. And
- 40:58Speaker 1: so when and to make you ask the question about
- 41:02Speaker 1: uh buying it and selling it, And we always encourage people.
- 41:06Speaker 1: We treated like an investment and so its investment is
- 41:08Speaker 1: something you're gonna put money in and you're gonna let
- 41:10Speaker 1: it grow over time. The problem is people will try
- 41:13Speaker 1: to trade it right, and they'll buy it when they're like, hey,
- 41:15Speaker 1: it's a forty five thousand, it can go to sixty
- 41:18Speaker 1: and then it drops down to twenty eight and now
- 41:20Speaker 1: you're left holding the bag. Right, But if you that
- 41:22Speaker 1: happened in two thousand and seventeen where we sort of
- 41:25Speaker 1: run up to twenty thousand, and by two thousand and
- 41:27Speaker 1: twenty it was at three thousand. But those same people
- 41:29Speaker 1: who sold it right, they were like, hey, I'm gonna
- 41:31Speaker 1: cast this on the way up. Great, it went down
- 41:33Speaker 1: to three thousands. They sold it right. They cut that
- 41:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna cut my losses here. Those same people when
- 41:37Speaker 1: they went up to sixty six thousand were probably like,
- 41:40Speaker 1: you know what, what just happened, I could have made money.
- 41:43Speaker 1: So that's why we try to treat it as an
- 41:44Speaker 1: investment long term because long term it'll it'll appreciate and
- 41:48Speaker 1: then that's when you're gain real value. So now I'm
- 41:51Speaker 1: starting to get it, like was It's just like with stocks, right,
- 41:54Speaker 1: you have to see value in something, right. You gotta say,
- 41:57Speaker 1: I see this, and I believe that the rest of
- 42:00Speaker 1: the world's gonna see it the way I see it
- 42:02Speaker 1: in the next couple weeks. So I'm invest my money
- 42:04Speaker 1: in right. And then you also got the note when
- 42:07Speaker 1: people was gonna stop seeing the value in that, so
- 42:10Speaker 1: that you don't get caught holding the bag with a
- 42:12Speaker 1: bunch of something that ain't worth nothing. Yeah, Right, So
- 42:16Speaker 1: that means if the new airbing b model, like I
- 42:19Speaker 1: have stock in Airbnb, So if the new model pops up,
- 42:23Speaker 1: that's got the houses with the purple light and the beds,
- 42:27Speaker 1: you know, move type of thing, and everybody is starting
- 42:30Speaker 1: to shift to that. Y'all are saying, still hold the
- 42:34Speaker 1: traditional Airbnb or is it at that point that you
- 42:37Speaker 1: want to shift? It's like it's it's like music, right.
- 42:41Speaker 1: At one point rock Him was the was the best
- 42:44Speaker 1: rapper in the world and he was the hottest rapper.
- 42:47Speaker 1: But then I'm not gonna say that because you know,
- 42:50Speaker 1: it's a bronze thing. So we always gonna says, was Chris,
- 42:53Speaker 1: come on, Chris, We're gonna keep all the way. But
- 43:03Speaker 1: I'm just saying so at some point, but at some
- 43:04Speaker 1: point in time, you know, um Naas came out, Biggie
- 43:08Speaker 1: came out, jay Z came out. They became the hottest, right,
- 43:10Speaker 1: and then fifty cent came out, and then dips that
- 43:12Speaker 1: came out, and now little babies out and drakes out,
- 43:14Speaker 1: So your value goes up and down. Right, So it's
- 43:18Speaker 1: like the same thing with NBA players, Right, So that
- 43:20Speaker 1: the key with stocks going to the stock conversation is
- 43:23Speaker 1: that this is why it's extremely important for people to diversify.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And we like to talk about e t s or
- 43:29Speaker 1: index funds. This is like a basket of different stocks
- 43:31Speaker 1: because you bring up a good point where it's like
- 43:35Speaker 1: it's hard the individual, whether it's individual coins or cryptocurrency
- 43:38Speaker 1: or individual stocks. The difficult thing is that you've got
- 43:41Speaker 1: to know. You gotta know when to get in and
- 43:43Speaker 1: when it get out because nothing lasts forever. So it's
- 43:46Speaker 1: like a good company ten years ago might not be
- 43:49Speaker 1: a good company now and not as stock is down
- 43:51Speaker 1: because they didn't make the right adjustments, or just a
- 43:53Speaker 1: new company came out that's better. So that's why the
- 43:56Speaker 1: safer bet is to like invest in like E t
- 43:59Speaker 1: F which has like twenty different companies inside of it,
- 44:02Speaker 1: and then they'll move companies in and out, so you're
- 44:04Speaker 1: not investing in just one particular company. You're investing in
- 44:07Speaker 1: a basket of companies. But like right now Apple is
- 44:10Speaker 1: the number one company in the world, like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon,
- 44:14Speaker 1: these are these are companies that are leading you know,
- 44:17Speaker 1: the world. Fifteen years from now, it might be a
- 44:20Speaker 1: whole setup of new companies. So now those old companies
- 44:24Speaker 1: might not be the company that you need to invest
- 44:27Speaker 1: in anymore. So you have to be extremely like you know,
- 44:30Speaker 1: up to date on on the times and and like
- 44:33Speaker 1: you know, stay up to date on what you're actually
- 44:35Speaker 1: invested in. But also you have to diversifies and you
- 44:39Speaker 1: got now I would say a prom example of that.
- 44:42Speaker 1: And we're all over the same age. So like if
- 44:44Speaker 1: I told you thirty five years ago you should invest
- 44:46Speaker 1: in blockbust, so you probably think it was a good idea,
- 44:48Speaker 1: right because VHS was the thing, and people have VCRs
- 44:51Speaker 1: and this is a great thing. Ten years after they come.
- 44:54Speaker 1: After after that, you hear about this company red Fan,
- 44:57Speaker 1: and you hear about this company Netflix that's only side
- 44:58Speaker 1: your supermarket and you can just rent right from a machine.
- 45:02Speaker 1: And then Blockbuster has a chance to buy that company
- 45:04Speaker 1: and doesn't. And then streaming comes to me like, wait,
- 45:07Speaker 1: I don't have to go to a store anymore. I
- 45:09Speaker 1: could do this right from the confet of my home.
- 45:10Speaker 1: And now there is no Blockbuster, right, there's like one
- 45:13Speaker 1: store left that they keep as like an antique store.
- 45:15Speaker 1: And now Netflix number one streaming service in the world.
- 45:18Speaker 1: And that's how we consume content. And so if you
- 45:20Speaker 1: pay attention and educate yourself, you're like, all right, extreaming
- 45:23Speaker 1: is the next thing we need to look at that.
- 45:24Speaker 1: It's like even like lime Wire, like that's crazy. Like
- 45:27Speaker 1: I just saw the other day the line wire, which
- 45:29Speaker 1: was used to be the place where you could download
- 45:31Speaker 1: music illegally. Allegedly some people did that, um, but now
- 45:35Speaker 1: you know they disappeared when when Apple Music came Right now,
- 45:37Speaker 1: we didn't need that, we don't we don't have to
- 45:39Speaker 1: do this illegal. We got Spotify, we play nine nonsense
- 45:41Speaker 1: and now we got entire music claddolock on our phones.
- 45:45Speaker 1: And so now line Wire is coming back. It's like like, yo,
- 45:47Speaker 1: all right, well we're gonna do n f T s now,
- 45:49Speaker 1: Like oh wow, they're trying to reinvent themselves, so paying
- 45:51Speaker 1: attention to what's happening and not just overlooking. That's why
- 45:54Speaker 1: I said, like, we're gonna read as much as we
- 45:56Speaker 1: can and learn as much as we can because the
- 45:57Speaker 1: chances are that you might miss it, and if you
- 45:59Speaker 1: miss it, you know you're gonna have us to rely on.
- 46:02Speaker 1: And even if you did, I just learned you No, No,
- 46:07Speaker 1: I just learned so much in ten minutes. Yeah, and
- 46:11Speaker 1: you know, okay, let me you know, I'm over here
- 46:14Speaker 1: really trying to think of things like people like me
- 46:16Speaker 1: what they don't understand. Okay, because I hear you saying,
- 46:21Speaker 1: let me put it in this context. It's like you
- 46:24Speaker 1: got the girl you've been with for ten years, and
- 46:29Speaker 1: then the new girl comes, who's tighter body, she looks
- 46:33Speaker 1: a little hot to you know, she got it going
- 46:36Speaker 1: on a little different. And now the ten year girl
- 46:39Speaker 1: is you know, sort of thrown out. But the question
- 46:42Speaker 1: is at what point do you look at a brand
- 46:46Speaker 1: like a Sony If we're thinking of this girl, the
- 46:48Speaker 1: ten year girl being in a Sony, that this is
- 46:51Speaker 1: a brand that lasts forever. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 46:54Speaker 1: how do you make those decisions? As well? I get
- 46:57Speaker 1: the blockbuster perspective, but there's also the perspective of you know,
- 47:02Speaker 1: brands that are like ever last, but this and I
- 47:04Speaker 1: think which and I'm gonna take again, I'm gonna take
- 47:07Speaker 1: a guess at this. I think what it is is
- 47:09Speaker 1: the tenure girl's ability to evolve and say, Okay, this
- 47:14Speaker 1: is what the new Girls is doing. So I'm gonna
- 47:16Speaker 1: get me some Chanello's shoes, I'm gonna get my body done,
- 47:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna learn certain I'm gonna how to I'm just
- 47:22Speaker 1: being honest. It's just it's learning that I'm i ain't cooking.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna learning the new meals they cook. I'm gonna
- 47:29Speaker 1: do all this stuff and I'm gonna combined. It's just
- 47:33Speaker 1: like when you look at Polo. Polo is a brand
- 47:36Speaker 1: that has outlasted a lot of things. They kept their signature,
- 47:39Speaker 1: but they're able to evolve their clothing to fit with
- 47:42Speaker 1: today's culture is so they never out of the culture
- 47:45Speaker 1: and they have a signature brand that everybody can identify,
- 47:49Speaker 1: so they're able to evolve and stay classic at the
- 47:52Speaker 1: same time. I'll give you two examples. Um Apple, Right,
- 47:57Speaker 1: Apple is a company that it's still relevant, still the
- 48:01Speaker 1: number one company in the world, and it's only getting better. Right,
- 48:04Speaker 1: they haven't really missed in ten years. A company that
- 48:07Speaker 1: that might be in trouble with Facebook, And now we're
- 48:10Speaker 1: actually watching this where you know, Facebook had a hell
- 48:12Speaker 1: of a run for fifteen years, but now you know,
- 48:15Speaker 1: for the first time in fifteen years, they have negative
- 48:18Speaker 1: growth on their platform. Um, you know, people were not
- 48:22Speaker 1: really on Facebook that much. Instagram is still there, but
- 48:25Speaker 1: TikTok is a major you know, thorn in the side
- 48:28Speaker 1: of Instagram. So now we gotta we were actually just
- 48:31Speaker 1: watching the situation to see how they how they can
- 48:33Speaker 1: maneuver out of this. But this might be potentially watching
- 48:37Speaker 1: a company kind of going downhill. Right, So it's it's
- 48:40Speaker 1: extremely important to just be observing and to watch pay attention. Read,
- 48:43Speaker 1: especially if you want to invest in individual stocks. Read
- 48:46Speaker 1: like their quarterly reports, their quarterly earnings, how they're doing,
- 48:49Speaker 1: how their growth is doing. Um, that's the good thing.
- 48:52Speaker 1: On the publicly traded company, all the information is public.
- 48:54Speaker 1: So like Facebook is a company, like we're watching in
- 48:57Speaker 1: real time who might potentially be like how you talk
- 49:00Speaker 1: about Blockbuster like that, we might be watching the death
- 49:03Speaker 1: of a company. Then I'll give you another problem. But
- 49:04Speaker 1: let me just insert myself and that okay, And and
- 49:08Speaker 1: let me be clear that the brothers that earned your
- 49:11Speaker 1: leisure did not say this to Mica. Mallory is saying
- 49:14Speaker 1: it that one of the things that Facebook will have
- 49:17Speaker 1: to do is stop being so damn racist because they
- 49:20Speaker 1: allow white supremacists to run wild on Facebook, and as
- 49:25Speaker 1: soon as a black person chooses to speak up on anything,
- 49:29Speaker 1: depending on how they feel about it or whatever protocols
- 49:32Speaker 1: they put in place, black people are shut down and
- 49:35Speaker 1: their voices are silent. So that might be one aspect,
- 49:39Speaker 1: because you know us, when we committed to something, we'd
- 49:42Speaker 1: be with it until it's dead, all the way, like
- 49:44Speaker 1: we're with the Yeah. But that's that's true. Right, Censorship
- 49:50Speaker 1: was an issue, right that they couldn't really figure out
- 49:52Speaker 1: how the censor, who the censor, And so when you
- 49:54Speaker 1: try to do that, look what happens. Right, The former
- 49:57Speaker 1: president United States a size, he's gonn create his own
- 49:59Speaker 1: media company. Now what now, like now you can't stop them, right,
- 50:03Speaker 1: and so like you you gotta be careful with that.
- 50:05Speaker 1: But I'm gonna give you another example of that evolution
- 50:07Speaker 1: and being able to adapt because Amazon in was a
- 50:12Speaker 1: book store, right if you only bought books from Amazon, right,
- 50:17Speaker 1: But they realized that people wanted more than just books
- 50:19Speaker 1: that could be delivered straight to their homes. And so
- 50:21Speaker 1: now they started they started adding other things. You could
- 50:23Speaker 1: buy clothes, then you can buy electronics. That the number
- 50:26Speaker 1: one e commerce business in the world. Right. They were
- 50:29Speaker 1: able to evolve with the times, right, and so like
- 50:32Speaker 1: they started as just having books and you can, but
- 50:34Speaker 1: look at what they're at now, right. So that was
- 50:36Speaker 1: that that adaptation and being able to evolve with the times.
- 50:39Speaker 1: M that's dope. So listen, President Biden just signed an
- 50:43Speaker 1: executive order for a review of the government approach the currency.
- 50:47Speaker 1: So what does that mean for the future of crypto? Yeah,
- 50:51Speaker 1: we have to see. They should they said they should
- 50:52Speaker 1: be actually having a speech about there sometime this week
- 50:55Speaker 1: to to see, like, you know, when his official stance
- 50:58Speaker 1: is gonna be. But you know what we think is
- 51:00Speaker 1: that it'll it'll be some level of a government um
- 51:03Speaker 1: crypto that will be put in place, um, and then
- 51:06Speaker 1: there'll be more regulation in the crypto Marre. They already
- 51:09Speaker 1: started to regulate crypto, but it will be more regulation,
- 51:12Speaker 1: more oversight, because that's one of the that's been one
- 51:14Speaker 1: of the criticisms of crypto currency is that there's not
- 51:18Speaker 1: enough regulation. It's like the wild wild West, and you know,
- 51:21Speaker 1: people aren't paying taxes and it's funding terrorism and all
- 51:25Speaker 1: kinds of stuff like that. So you know, they probably
- 51:27Speaker 1: have a lot more regulations that that will be put
- 51:30Speaker 1: in place. And also they're gonna mess it up like
- 51:37Speaker 1: the soon as people couldn't sit on the gate. Yeah, man,
- 51:46Speaker 1: every time. I mean, but that's great because like y'all
- 51:50Speaker 1: can hear it right, like when you tell you the
- 51:51Speaker 1: premise of it was to be decentralized, and when you
- 51:53Speaker 1: hear a government saying that they don't make a coin,
- 51:56Speaker 1: it's like that kind of defeats the purpose of that
- 51:58Speaker 1: they initially had. So you know, do you'll think the
- 52:02Speaker 1: last question I want to ask, do y'all think that
- 52:04Speaker 1: cryptocurrency will ever replace the current monetary system? M Um,
- 52:10Speaker 1: I don't think fully because I think that government's control currency, uh,
- 52:15Speaker 1: and you know, it's just it's so many different levels
- 52:18Speaker 1: to this, Like even if you've been watching news with
- 52:19Speaker 1: this Russia Ukraine situation and they just kicked Russia out
- 52:23Speaker 1: of the Swift banking system, which is like a European
- 52:26Speaker 1: banking system and that most people never even heard of
- 52:28Speaker 1: before you got the the World Monetary Fund. And there's
- 52:31Speaker 1: so many different like levels how they really have this
- 52:34Speaker 1: this financial game and in the in the chokehole that
- 52:37Speaker 1: you know, it's really kind of difficult for the powers
- 52:39Speaker 1: to be to just give up power. That's almost impossible,
- 52:43Speaker 1: especially you know, in the near future. So I don't
- 52:45Speaker 1: know if it will completely take over, but it will
- 52:47Speaker 1: definitely be uh something that's here to stay and a
- 52:51Speaker 1: part of the economic system. Um. But I think that
- 52:55Speaker 1: you know, since the beginning of time, governments have always
- 52:57Speaker 1: had a strong hold on current see and that probably
- 53:00Speaker 1: will continue. But this can be an alternative um to that. Yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 1: I agree, I think it's a new We should look
- 53:08Speaker 1: at it as a new asset class and treat it
- 53:10Speaker 1: like that. And so having a lot of education around it,
- 53:13Speaker 1: you know, trusting you know, finding sources, reading white papers,
- 53:16Speaker 1: which is it tells you what exactly these currencies do
- 53:19Speaker 1: and their functionalities. Educating yourself in that form so that
- 53:22Speaker 1: when if you're going to make an investment, you've been
- 53:24Speaker 1: taken in much as knowledge as possible before you do it. UM.
- 53:26Speaker 1: But yeah, it's definitely here to stay because we can
- 53:29Speaker 1: see it even even in the centralized way where banks
- 53:32Speaker 1: are now using blockchain technology and they can say like, hey,
- 53:35Speaker 1: we hate bitcoin, that we hate bitcoin, but if you
- 53:37Speaker 1: look and read the things that they're doing, most of
- 53:40Speaker 1: them are invested in some form of cryptocurrency, whether they're
- 53:43Speaker 1: using blockchain technology or they're saying, look, hey, we're going
- 53:45Speaker 1: to be involved in the metaverse in the future. And
- 53:48Speaker 1: so it's it's here to stay, um, and make sure
- 53:51Speaker 1: that you educate yourself. And that's what I would imploy
- 53:53Speaker 1: people to do. So if you had a hundred thousand dollars,
- 53:56Speaker 1: if somebody comes to you they said, got a hundred
- 53:58Speaker 1: thousand dollars right now, what do I do with it?
- 54:01Speaker 1: What would be like the quick reply? Um. Everybody's situation
- 54:07Speaker 1: is different, but the first thing I would tell them
- 54:09Speaker 1: to do is try to pay off debt. If they
- 54:10Speaker 1: have credit card debt, especially before you look to invest,
- 54:13Speaker 1: try to get out of debt. That's that's something that
- 54:15Speaker 1: really hurts a lot of people is that you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: you got these high credit card debts, So pay off
- 54:20Speaker 1: your debt, and then you always gotta have money in savings,
- 54:22Speaker 1: like you know, just like an emergency fund three to
- 54:25Speaker 1: six months of whatever your monthly expenses are. Take care
- 54:28Speaker 1: of that first. Then you know, make sure you have
- 54:31Speaker 1: like life insurance. You know, I'm leading up to this
- 54:33Speaker 1: because most people will start at the top down where
- 54:35Speaker 1: it's like, oh, put put it in crypto, put it
- 54:37Speaker 1: in stocks, and it's like that's not really the most
- 54:39Speaker 1: responsible thing to do. Like you got to kind of
- 54:41Speaker 1: build a house from the foundation up. So build build
- 54:45Speaker 1: your foundation first, like solid financial planning stuff. Then go
- 54:49Speaker 1: to the next phase. The next phase to me probably
- 54:50Speaker 1: would be stocks. Invested in stocks, um, you know, more
- 54:54Speaker 1: in the safe aside like ETF index funds, and then
- 54:57Speaker 1: after that, you know, allocate a portion to like you
- 55:00Speaker 1: maybe cryptocurrency, but I understand that cryptocurrency is still extremely
- 55:03Speaker 1: violatio and it's still relatively in his in this new phase,
- 55:06Speaker 1: so you don't want to allocate too much money. Never
- 55:08Speaker 1: invest anything but especially cryptocurrency that you can't afford to lose.
- 55:12Speaker 1: That's like the golden rule in life, because too many
- 55:14Speaker 1: people treat investing like gambling, and investing is not gambling,
- 55:17Speaker 1: but it can become synonymous with gambling if you apply
- 55:20Speaker 1: gambling principles to investing. And when you when you treat
- 55:23Speaker 1: it like Vegas, you're gonna end up losing, just like
- 55:25Speaker 1: you losing Vegas. So Vegas, they said the rules. Man,
- 55:31Speaker 1: So you don't think because like me going on the
- 55:35Speaker 1: internet and putting my money and stuff, I've done it
- 55:38Speaker 1: because I see that this is the thing, and some
- 55:42Speaker 1: of the investments that I've made, I'm watching them grow, right,
- 55:45Speaker 1: So okay, that's cool. I want to have something in
- 55:48Speaker 1: my hand that I own, this piece to pay for
- 55:51Speaker 1: this pen for my money. And so if I had
- 55:54Speaker 1: a hundred thousand dollars, I don't know if I would
- 55:56Speaker 1: immediately go to the stock idea. I would be thinking
- 55:59Speaker 1: more like when you talked about Airbnb or something like that.
- 56:03Speaker 1: So would you say for a person like me that
- 56:05Speaker 1: doesn't like to take risk, that it is better to
- 56:09Speaker 1: go in a different direction. Real estate is always gonna
- 56:11Speaker 1: be an asset. Real estate is always gonna be probably
- 56:13Speaker 1: you know, one of the top assets in the world.
- 56:16Speaker 1: So you can never go wrong with real estate as
- 56:18Speaker 1: long as you buy buy correctly. So yeah, definitely, that's
- 56:20Speaker 1: that's another alternative real estate. I think, you know, real
- 56:23Speaker 1: estate in stocks like the two cornerstones of investing. Um,
- 56:26Speaker 1: you know, definitely real estate. If you're interested in in that,
- 56:30Speaker 1: then that's not something that you know, I would I
- 56:32Speaker 1: would discourage. I just understand that. You know, when you're
- 56:35Speaker 1: invest in real estate is a lot of other stuff
- 56:37Speaker 1: that come along with it. So you know, you're invest
- 56:39Speaker 1: in stock, you buy a stock, you're not happy with it,
- 56:41Speaker 1: you can sell it. Tom All, real estate doesn't really
- 56:43Speaker 1: work like that. You can't just buy a home first.
- 56:45Speaker 1: It takes a long time to buy the home. And
- 56:46Speaker 1: then you know, when you buy a home, if you're
- 56:48Speaker 1: gonna rent out the property, you got to make sure
- 56:50Speaker 1: that you can get the tenants. And then especially in
- 56:52Speaker 1: New York, is a it's a headache if you ever
- 56:53Speaker 1: have to kick a tenant out. Um, you gotta you know,
- 56:56Speaker 1: have somebody that can change the boiler, that can cut
- 56:58Speaker 1: the grass. Like, you know, not to discourage people, but
- 57:01Speaker 1: just to understand, like there's a lot that goes into physical. Yeah,
- 57:05Speaker 1: the physical ideas of owning something is a lot more
- 57:09Speaker 1: involved than owning something like digitally where you can just
- 57:12Speaker 1: buy it, get in, get out, do whatever you want.
- 57:14Speaker 1: It's a lot, a lot less, a lot cleaner. Yeah,
- 57:16Speaker 1: And if you had the hundred thousand, I would I
- 57:18Speaker 1: would take some of that allocated. Tells your education, right,
- 57:21Speaker 1: because if you're just putting it in airb and being
- 57:23Speaker 1: you have no idea how to run an airbnb business,
- 57:26Speaker 1: that's gonna be top. You're gonna lose your money. If
- 57:28Speaker 1: you put it in stocks, you don't know how to trade,
- 57:30Speaker 1: you don't have to invest, you're gonna lose your money.
- 57:31Speaker 1: And so make sure that the first and foremost you
- 57:34Speaker 1: educate yourself in any aspect of any area you want
- 57:37Speaker 1: to be in. Right, get education or and findamental right.
- 57:40Speaker 1: That always helps. Right, find somebody who's been through the experiences,
- 57:43Speaker 1: who's had some some you know, trials and tribulations, maybe
- 57:46Speaker 1: some failures and some himes. I always call them glows
- 57:48Speaker 1: and glows, Like we used to say that in the classroom,
- 57:50Speaker 1: like what was the best thing you learned from that?
- 57:52Speaker 1: What's something that you that you probably shouldn't have done
- 57:54Speaker 1: it right, because now if I made a mistake, you
- 57:55Speaker 1: don't have to do it, which could cost you money.
- 57:57Speaker 1: So always educate yourself. Well listen, man, you guys are dope.
- 58:02Speaker 1: You are amazing, and I just wanted once again give
- 58:06Speaker 1: you your flowers. And because I already know in the
- 58:08Speaker 1: next ten years you're gonna be historical. We're gonna be
- 58:13Speaker 1: talking about you're gonna get every award in the world.
- 58:16Speaker 1: But before we leave, I need one question. Grits. Where
- 58:19Speaker 1: do you take your grits with sugar or salt? I'm Jamaican,
- 58:23Speaker 1: only eat grits. Yeah, I don't do sugar or salt
- 58:27Speaker 1: and grits. I don't really eat grits too much. But
- 58:30Speaker 1: when I did, I'm trying to cut cheese. But when
- 58:32Speaker 1: I did, I was eating with cheese and hot sauce.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I did hot sauce, so you was on the butter side,
- 58:39Speaker 1: not yell Okay, well listen, didn't say salt. He don't
- 58:53Speaker 1: even eat it. We were on to third white planes,
- 58:58Speaker 1: ro busting role. Fu man, we gotta have some welcome.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Continue to do what your dude, pushing the culture forward.
- 59:12Speaker 1: We appreciate you'll man, success follow find y'all. Yeah, yeah, Now,
- 59:19Speaker 1: first and foremore, thank you for having us. I appreciate
- 59:21Speaker 1: and keep up the advocacy, keep up the good work

- 59:26Speaker 1: to us. And if anybody wants check us out, it's
- 59:28Speaker 1: Earn Your Leisure across all social media platforms on ball
- 59:31Speaker 1: podcast outlets, on YouTube and then e y L University
- 59:35Speaker 1: dot com. That's our online educational portal if you want
- 59:38Speaker 1: a more hands on learning experience. So thank you guys again, man,
- 59:41Speaker 1: I appreciate it, appreciate your to take care. That's shout
- 59:53Speaker 1: out to my b X brethren from Earn Your Leisure
- 59:57Speaker 1: with Balau Troy Millen's. These brothers are phenomenal interview They
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: noticed stuff, and I only do they notice stuff, they
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: know how to break this stuff down because I learned.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: You'll listen to me. In about fifteen twenty minutes, I
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: got everything I tell you. Look, now you'll listen to me.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Y'all think it's a joke the way I'm about to
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: get on my c though slash stock market. Um Man, listen,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: you ain't even gonna understanding that. Next we just gotta
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: get some of my other brothers. We got get nineteen Keys,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: we gotta get Wall Street. Like these brothers, the way
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: they break down this is so phenomenal. These brothers, like
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: they pushing a culture forward and they're really going to
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: be responsible for what we call into generational wealth, man,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: because I think people are gonna get it. You know,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: I get it. I get some things, but you know me,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I'm all like man, So now I have to call
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: them and say and explain this again and then that.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: And it's like I'm one of those people that you
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: have to explain things to twice. I have to read
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: books sometimes twice. I might have a little form of
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: dyslexia or something, but I need another I heard I
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: heard shout out to nineteen Keys. He was doing the
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Breakfast Club interview and he said something that was dope.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: He said, that's what they call it research. He said,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: you got to search once and then research it. Need it.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: So we got to do research. You want the people
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: that gotta do me too, because I get it. But
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: then I gotta shopping it up because once I get it,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I got it. You know what I'm saying, shout brothers man,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Like I've been wanting to do all of these things
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: for a long time, and I'm getting more acclimated into
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: with the way they just broke it down to me
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: was like, you know how lightbulb just go off? Lightbulb
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: just Well, the hundred thousand dollar answer is really important
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: because while I do want to have something in my hands,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: so I want to buy a pen, I don't want
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: you to tell me that I put money into pens
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: on the internet. I want the pens ships to my house.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: That's me. But then I got to find a place
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: to put the pens, and I gotta take care of them,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: and I gotta change the ink cartridge when it's not working,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: and I don't have a lot of time, So I
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: have to reshape sort of my thinking that it's better
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: to have something that you actually own, that's a product
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: in your hand, knowing that you therefore have to take
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: care of that and you have to have time to
