- 0:04Swift's rumored MSG wedding, the viral Empire State Building

- 0:57stories for today. So the first story that I have
- 1:00for you guys today, I have avoided talking about this
- 1:03because it's so speculative, first of all, and in my opinion,
- 1:08it still feels crazy to think that Taylor Swift would get
- 1:11married at like a giant concert venue.
- 1:15I fear we are in the 11th hour and I know that we will probably
- 1:19know in the next like 24 to 48 hours, like what the hell is
- 1:22going on? And I'm probably going to be
- 1:24eating my words here, OK? But it is time to dive into the
- 1:27speculation. Let's talk about why people
- 1:29think she is getting married basically tomorrow at Madison
- 1:32Square Garden, Why I don't think she's getting married this
- 1:36weekend at Madison Square Garden.
- 1:37And what I think is actually happening.
- 1:39So yes, a subset of fans, I would actually say probably most
- 1:42fans are convinced that she is getting married this weekend
- 1:46over the 4th of July weekend at Madison Square Garden.
- 1:50Over the past few days, so many rumors have started to snowball.
- 1:53There's been sightings of trucks, event crews and
- 1:56celebrity rivals, which have all been adding fuel to this fire.
- 1:59So this is what we know so far, OK?
- 2:01New York City officials confirmed that a permit was
- 2:04submitted in early June to temporarily close streets around
- 2:08the Ms. SG during the holiday weekend.
- 2:10The closure was first reported by the New York Times, which
- 2:13also claims that several members of the Kansas City Chiefs had
- 2:16booked nearby hotel rooms. Though The New York Times never
- 2:19confirmed it was for the wedding, they did say that the
- 2:22celebration could be connected to Taylor Swift and Travis
- 2:26Kelce's wedding. During a recent press interview,
- 2:29New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch
- 2:31confirmed police would be providing security for a major
- 2:34private event at the venue. According to CBS News, Thursday
- 2:37is expected to feature a rehearsal dinner for around 100
- 2:40guests inside the Infosys. I'm sorry, I'm obviously not
- 2:45American and I've never been to MSG.
- 2:46The Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden, a much larger
- 2:51celebration reportedly accommodating around 1000
- 2:54attendees, is said to be scheduled for Friday evening
- 2:57into Saturday morning. So literally as I speak right
- 3:01now, we have paparazzi pictures coming out like minute by minute
- 3:05of all of these celebrities in New York City.
- 3:07They're all so dressed up and they are going to Madison Square
- 3:10Garden. So like, something is happening
- 3:12tonight, and it is definitely related to Taylor Swift.
- 3:17And CBS also reported that for this weekend, a huge stage is
- 3:20being built inside the arena, complete with live musical
- 3:24performances. OK.
- 3:25And then across the week, large trucks have been seen unloading
- 3:28stage equipment, lighting rigs and other event supplies.
- 3:32Some deliveries were labeled garden party or simply GP.
- 3:36Workers have also been photographed bringing in
- 3:38decorative foliage, boxes marked branches, a large black case
- 3:43labeled 40 inch mirror ball staircase railings and crates of
- 3:47food including lobster and what looked to be the Taylor Swift
- 3:52like lover house. This is also stalkery.
- 3:54But earlier this week as well, workers apparently briefly
- 3:58rolled out a red carpet on the arena steps.
- 4:00And then they like, basically, I guess to like, test it out, and
- 4:04then they quickly removed it. So on Thursday morning, crews
- 4:07were also seen assembling a large tent outside the venue.
- 4:10So according to many reports, some guests will enter through
- 4:13this covered area, while Taylor Swift, Travis Kelsey and other
- 4:17VIPs will be expected to arrive through the arena's underground
- 4:20entrances to avoid crowds and photographers.
- 4:23OK, CBS News seems to have like all the tea.
- 4:26I have no idea why, but they claim to have a tentative
- 4:29schedule for this weekend, so this is what they say is
- 4:32happening. Thursday evening, which is right
- 4:34now when I'm recording, will reportedly feature a rehearsal
- 4:37dinner for roughly around 100 guests at this theater, Like I
- 4:40said at the Infosys Theatre, beginning at around 6:00 PM and
- 4:45finishing around 10:30 PM. Friday is expected to host the
- 4:48main celebration with around 1000 guests.
- 4:51Guests would reportedly begin arriving from around 3:30 PM for
- 4:55a cocktail hour on the 6th floor before a reception running from
- 4:59approximately 6:30 PM until 2:00 AM.
- 5:01Security officials are reportedly preparing for around
- 5:03500 vehicles transporting guests, with arrivals entering
- 5:07through specially designed VIP entrances is beneath a large
- 5:10tent. OK, so obviously this is like a
- 5:12lot of detail and a lot of evidence, but I don't think that
- 5:16this is her wedding, OK? Like, Taylor is a publicity
- 5:19queen, don't get me wrong. And I do understand that with
- 5:22Taylor Swift's budget, she could turn the MSG into like,
- 5:26literally anything she wanted, right?
- 5:28There's a lot of people being like, it would be so tacky for
- 5:31her to do her wedding there. And like, I agree with that to
- 5:33an extent, but also it would not look like a concert venue if she
- 5:37doesn't want it to look like a concert venue, right?
- 5:39Like the things that she could do with that space and with that
- 5:42budget, it could be genuinely anything.
- 5:45But mostly, I believe Taylor, like she is a publicity queen
- 5:50for her career, but she does tend to keep a lot of her
- 5:53personal life stuff private. Like those moments she keeps
- 5:56relatively private. So there are a subset of fans,
- 5:59though, who believe, like me, that this is maybe not their
- 6:02wedding. Maybe it's like a decoy.
- 6:03So some people think that the event could be like a
- 6:06celebration that they're holding after they got married.
- 6:09Agreed. Somewhere quietly more intimate.
- 6:12And like I know her friends and family are there.
- 6:15Like Abigail is there. OK.
- 6:16Like I understand that is like the caliber of intimate friends
- 6:22and family who would be attending your wedding.
- 6:24However, my theory, which I'm sure will get debunked in like
- 6:2724 hours, like I said, and you guys will all laugh at me
- 6:30because I'm sure you guys all think it's her wedding.
- 6:32Because I feel like I feel like I'm delusional at this point to
- 6:34not think it is. But like, I don't know.
- 6:35I just don't think it is. My friend Crystal suggested
- 6:38something along these lines and I tend to subscribe to this
- 6:42theory for my own sanity. OK, so TS 13 has to be huge and
- 6:47fans are expecting it to be this like huge milestone in her
- 6:50career. Recently she hosted this private
- 6:53dinner at her home in Nashville for country music radio
- 6:56executives. And the claim of this dinner was
- 6:59to preview her like Toy Story 5 song.
- 7:03And to that I would just say like, why?
- 7:06Like for what I know it was like her quote UN quote return to
- 7:09country music kind of. But like this wasn't the biggest
- 7:13deal ever. So that already confusing
- 7:15already weird. I don't believe that that dinner
- 7:18was specifically just to preview that song.
- 7:21OK. The things that we have seen get
- 7:23shipped into the MSG appear to be related to her career
- 7:26milestones like the love story Castle, like the mirror ball,
- 7:29like why would Taylor Swift? I just I don't know.
- 7:32I just have a hard time believing like, OK, if I was
- 7:35going to have a wedding, I mean, I've had a wedding, but and I
- 7:38actually did have it when I was doing Centennial, but like if I
- 7:42was going to have a wedding now, OK, Like I am not comparing
- 7:45myself obviously to Taylor Swift, but like I couldn't think
- 7:48of anything that I would want less at my wedding then like
- 7:51anything related to Centennial or like a mini scroll.
- 7:53Like, could you imagine if I had a mini scroll themed wedding?
- 7:56Like I just, well, I'm like so proud of what I'm building and
- 8:00it's like literally the thing I'm most proud of in my entire
- 8:02life and I'm obsessed with my career.
- 8:04I could not imagine a weirder vibe than having a wedding that
- 8:09also had like a lot of my career shit like blended into it.
- 8:13And that's why I just don't think that this is her wedding.
- 8:16So the theory is that is possible that what is happening
- 8:20at Madison Square Garden this weekend is the TS13 album
- 8:24launch. And that could include like a
- 8:27concert to commemorate this, you know, milestone for her.
- 8:31But also possibly it's like in tandem with like a big business
- 8:35announcement, which would explain all of the very like,
- 8:38intimate friends and family there, such as maybe launching
- 8:41her own Independent Record label.
- 8:44And maybe that's why she had this dinner in Nashville with
- 8:47all of the music execs. Maybe it's going to be a country
- 8:49music label to start with, right?
- 8:52To commemorate her roots. Like, I don't know.
- 8:54This is literally tinfoil hat vibes.
- 8:56And that's why there would be performances.
- 8:58I don't know, you guys, that's my theory.
- 9:01We're going to find out really soon.
- 9:02You guys are all going to be commenting being like, you were
- 9:05wrong and I'm ready to own that. But that is what I believe is
- 9:09happening. Also, I did see that The
- 9:11Associated Press, I think said it was Taylor Swift's wedding.
- 9:14So, yeah, I feel like I'm unfortunately incorrect, but
- 9:19that is still my theory. All right, the next story that I
- 9:21have you guys today, more New York City related news, love
- 9:25related news. I'm sure you guys have seen the
- 9:27Russian rooftoppers Angela and Ivan who scaled the Empire State
- 9:32Building yesterday. So Angela and Ivan are well
- 9:35known for extreme roof topping. It's called where they basically
- 9:38climb skyscrapers and landmarks around the world without safety
- 9:42equipment. Nothing sounds scarier to me
- 9:44than this. Like I actually, I'm actually
- 9:46like really afraid of heights, which I never used to be, but as
- 9:49I've gotten older, I've become significantly more afraid of
- 9:51heights. This sounds horrifying to me.
- 9:53This And what is it bouldering or whatever when they like free
- 9:56climb, when people rock climb without any equipment like that
- 9:59is so scary to me. So in 2024, this couple was
- 10:02actually featured in the next Netflix film, Skywalker's A Love
- 10:05Story. So they kind of are like a bit
- 10:08cloudy. OK.
- 10:09Like, they, they kind of like, they're like a thing.
- 10:11So yes, they scaled the Empire State Building.
- 10:14And then when they got to the top, they unfurled a large black
- 10:18banner. And it read When the power of
- 10:20love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.
- 10:25Valid. Like, that is a good message,
- 10:26don't get me wrong. And then after this, Ivan
- 10:29appeared to propose on the tower.
- 10:31And then they kissed and took photos together.
- 10:33So they like, fully had what appeared to be a proposal.
- 10:36OK. So police arrested the pair when
- 10:38they descended. They have since been charged
- 10:40with multiple offenses, including burglary, criminal
- 10:43trespass and reckless endangerment.
- 10:45While investigators are still trying to find out basically how
- 10:48they managed to scale this building, like how they managed
- 10:51to get through this restricted access area to be able to do it.
- 10:55What does this all have to do with Internet culture, Right?
- 10:57Well, first of all, the photo of them on the Empire State
- 11:00Building with the flag and its message, it's going so viral.
- 11:04So of course, every brand on social media is taking that and
- 11:07turning it into its own meme relating to their brand.
- 11:11And social media experts across the Internet are begging brands
- 11:16to stop. The Plaza Hotel actually won in
- 11:19capitalizing on this viral moment.
- 11:20So while every other brand was like doing this copy and paste
- 11:24of this meme, their own version of their flag, OK.
- 11:26Which like at this point, this is what we expect when there are
- 11:29these like big viral moments that feel like they kind of
- 11:32capture the monoculture for a hot 2nd.
- 11:35Every brand makes a meme out of it, right?
- 11:37This is like expected at this point.
- 11:39It no longer feels culturally relevant.
- 11:40It feels kind of of passe and it feels kind of boring.
- 11:43No one is reading what your flag says, essentially, full stop.
- 11:47The Plaza on the other hand, they posted a photo of their
- 11:50hotel with like a giant black banner, looks the same right?
- 11:53Draping down the side of the hotel from the top to the
- 11:56bottom. And it read.
- 11:58You don't need to scale the building to propose at the
- 12:00Plaza. Iconic.
- 12:02That is how to take a monoculture moment that is going
- 12:06viral online, like a still photo like this that is going viral
- 12:09online and turn it into something that actually makes
- 12:12sense for your brand, that actually is relevant to you, is
- 12:16going to capture people's attention.
- 12:17And when they see this, you don't need to spell it out for
- 12:20them like what you're referencing.
- 12:22If people know, they know. And at this point, most people
- 12:24know and it's so good. Like whoever did this social
- 12:28post knows what the fuck is up. OK.
- 12:30And then the second way that this relates to Internet culture
- 12:33is the conspiracy theory is coming out of this moment.
- 12:35And the main one seems to be that possibly this was an ad for
- 12:39Meta glasses. So Dana Castillo for the Silence
- 12:42brand sub Stack wrote. Going to put on my tinfoil hat
- 12:45to suggest that the couple that got engaged on top of the Empire
- 12:48State Building filmed their POV using Meta glasses.
- 12:52Oh my God, you guys. As I'm recording, somebody just
- 12:54messaged me. Oh no, another hot girl related
- 12:57trademark controversy. Have you have seen the diabetic
- 13:00discourse? OK, so I obviously have not seen
- 13:03that in time for today's episode, but I will look into it
- 13:06and if it's relevant, I will do it next week.
- 13:08And also one of you guys suggested on Spotify that we get
- 13:11like a trademark lawyer to come on and like basically teach us
- 13:15about what the fuck is going on with all of these like online
- 13:18trademark controversies. And I am very down for that.
- 13:20So if you guys are a trademark lawyer or you know one, or even
- 13:24if you're a lawyer who can speak to trademark law, feel free to
- 13:27hit us up. Come on, mini scroll.
- 13:29I might be talking about it on Monday.
- 13:31Doesn't need to be on Monday, but like we could do it next
- 13:33week. We can tack on an interview at
- 13:35the end where we talk about all of this.
- 13:37So let me know. OK, the next story that I have
- 13:39for you guys today, actually, before this is chaotic, before I
- 13:42get into the actual last story, I did want to say I forgot to
- 13:45talk about Vidcon like at all. And I feel like that says a lot
- 13:49because apparently it was very bad and I was going to cover it
- 13:52earlier this week, but it's like a week old now, so I'm not going
- 13:54to talk about it in detail. But yeah, essentially everybody
- 13:57said Vidcon this year was really shit because it was basically
- 14:00just like a bunch of cancelled creators.
- 14:02There was very few Youtubers. There apparently was mostly like
- 14:05Twitch and TikTok I think. And it felt super corporate.
- 14:08And I mean, this is no surprise. I don't think Vidcon has been
- 14:10like super relevant in a long time.
- 14:12But apparently this year was like really bad.
- 14:14OK, the last story that I have for you guys today is Ashley
- 14:17Tisdale is turning her viral essay about her toxic celebrity
- 14:22mom group into a Netflix show. So today Ashley Tisdale
- 14:25announced this new Netflix show called Toxic Moms, inspired by
- 14:29the viral essay that she published earlier this year
- 14:31about leaving what she described as a toxic celebrity mothers
- 14:34group. Reminder the essay it sparked
- 14:37widespread speculation online that the fellow celebrity
- 14:41mothers that she was referring to in this group included Hilary
- 14:45Duff, Mandy Moore and Meghan trainer.
- 14:47Based on like images that people had found of them hanging out
- 14:50together and just like previous posts and stuff like that.
- 14:53OK so according to the official synopsis, Toxic Moms follows a
- 14:57sleep deprived new mother who becomes part of an exclusive
- 15:00circle of wealthy, seemingly perfect moms.
- 15:03As she gets closer to the group, she begins to uncover its darker
- 15:06side, forcing her to question how far she's willing to go for
- 15:09friendship and belonging. OK so the reception to this so
- 15:12far has been quite mixed. Some people are kind of like
- 15:15girl capitalizing on this drama on this essay that you wrote
- 15:19that caused all of this drama is like not a good look.
- 15:22Other people are like, this is honestly genius giving Shar Pei
- 15:27OK like it really is. But like how iconic would it be
- 15:30you guys if the moms who we have speculated were part of this
- 15:35toxic celebrity mom group? Like imagine they made cameos
- 15:39that actually would be iconic. Somebody on Instagram wrote this
- 15:42is the most expensive passive aggressive statement of all
- 15:47time. Someone else wrote the only way
- 15:48this would work is if every actress who was accused is also
- 15:52in on it. That's what I said made cameos
- 15:54and it's one big ruse for early promotion of the show.
- 15:56Otherwise this is just tacky. Someone else says this has the
- 15:59potential to be a mean mom's version of Mean Girls.
- 16:02Yeah. I think the way that this is
- 16:04executed will inform how this lands.
- 16:07Because I do fear while everybody was living for the
- 16:10drama of her essay, like, I think a lot of people came away
- 16:13from that essay being like, is Ashley Tisdale the problem?
- 16:17Especially if all of these other women are still friends.
- 16:19So I'm interested to see how this plays out.
- 16:22Anyways guys, that's it for Mini Scroll today.
- 16:24Thank you so much for listening. I love you guys.
- 16:26Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe.
- 16:28Please feel free to correct me in the comments when it comes
- 16:32out that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey were actually getting
- 16:34married. I'm going to be eating my words,
- 16:37I'm sure. I'm going to be giving you guys
- 16:38an update on Monday. Hopefully there's an update on
- 16:41Monday. Surely there will be.
- 16:43Anyways guys, that's it. Thank you so much.
- 16:45I love you and I will talk to you on Monday.
