- 0:20Speaker 1: from downtown Baton Rouge.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Here's Jacob Hess and Matt Flynn.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Yo, welcome in o TV here on this Tuesday morning.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Jake Flynn, a landre a Tate all here with you
- 0:56Speaker 4: after a long Monday football evening. Uh we are back
- 1:02Speaker 4: here with a couple of doves though.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Yeah we are Foxhole big Ball.
- 1:11Speaker 4: How did it feel first time out? Written for your
- 1:13Speaker 4: new squad?
- 1:14Speaker 5: What a game?
- 1:14Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:15Speaker 4: What a game?
- 1:15Speaker 7: They made it a game? Try to give that thing away?
- 1:19Speaker 7: Really really fun fun fourth quarter?
- 1:21Speaker 6: So your first week as a fan of the Bugs, Like,
- 1:24Speaker 6: how was your fandom? Are you still getting used to it?
- 1:26Speaker 6: Did you cheer for the wrong team a couple of times?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Like I did?
- 1:30Speaker 5: No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Uh, that's fine.
- 1:32Speaker 5: I mean again, it's fine, kind of weird.
- 1:35Speaker 7: It wasn't new, I guess I should say, like I've
- 1:38Speaker 7: always kind of chewed for them in the background, you know.
- 1:40Speaker 7: The last couple of years, so it wasn't anything.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Like side piece.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah they were. They were the side piece. Now it's official.
- 1:48Speaker 4: It's he's pretty simple.
- 1:51Speaker 7: Yeah, but he's a good who's a fun game.
- 1:58Speaker 6: I enjoyed watching that game because Baker is an animal
- 2:04Speaker 6: playing so well, but he's just so funny to watch.
- 2:08Speaker 6: He's got this attitude, got a chip on his shoulder.
- 2:11Speaker 6: He scrambles late in the game and gets hurt, falls
- 2:17Speaker 6: on his knee and it looks like he's hurting his knee,
- 2:19Speaker 6: but then like I don't think, like, I don't think
- 2:23Speaker 6: he had time in his brain to even be hurt
- 2:25Speaker 6: because he realized he had to get up and start
- 2:27Speaker 6: talking trash, right, He's like, wait a minute, I gotta
- 2:30Speaker 6: talk trash. So he got up to he's like Chauncey Gardoner, Johnson,
- 2:35Speaker 6: Johncy like standing over him. I can just like hear
- 2:38Speaker 6: Chauncey just saying, like, you know, calling him names like
- 2:40Speaker 6: get up off the ground.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Because I think he originally hurt the knee on the
- 2:45Speaker 3: sack in the first half.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Yeah, and that one looks like that was a little
- 2:48Speaker 6: bit more like yeah, okay, I can see your getting
- 2:50Speaker 6: hurt there. But yeah, he's like, wait a minute, I
- 2:52Speaker 6: can't be hurt. I don't have time for this. I
- 2:54Speaker 6: gotta talk trash. He got up and he did. He
- 2:56Speaker 6: did just that.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Uh yeah, So they when twenty to nineteen over the
- 3:02Speaker 4: Texans how to huck take it? Did you watch the game?
- 3:06Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 3:06Speaker 5: He did. He wasn't like thrilled, but he also no,
- 3:11Speaker 5: he was actually upset.
- 3:12Speaker 6: I was trying to think about because he watched I
- 3:14Speaker 6: let him watch a little bit of the second game too,
- 3:17Speaker 6: school night. Who uh my oldest watch all of it? Oopsies.
- 3:24Speaker 5: So he was, uh yeah, he was pretty upset.
- 3:27Speaker 4: He was cheering pretty hard. What I thought they were
- 3:31Speaker 4: going to like explode a year and a half ago.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Yep.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Actually I went to the playoff game where they beat
- 3:38Speaker 4: the hell out of the Chargers.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Like, I don't know, there's something. There's something a little
- 3:42Speaker 6: off about the old Texans, I know, being I mean.
- 3:46Speaker 7: We're talking about it before the game, Like I'm not
- 3:48Speaker 7: saying they're bad, but like when that game ended, I
- 3:50Speaker 7: was like, why are the Texans not better? Like I
- 3:54Speaker 7: looked at their past rush like you got Anderson and
- 3:56Speaker 7: Danil Hunter, you have Stingley, Jalen Petree. The defense is great,
- 4:01Speaker 7: if Stroud you have all these weapons, why aren't they better?
- 4:04Speaker 7: They're not a bad team, like Tamika Ryans has won
- 4:06Speaker 7: ten games back to back years. Yeah, but there's something
- 4:09Speaker 7: missing and I don't really know what it is.
- 4:10Speaker 6: They're kind of like, I don't want to say this,
- 4:12Speaker 6: but they're kind of like the Chargers have been right,
- 4:15Speaker 6: the extremely talent. Hey, great, there a lot of positive
- 4:19Speaker 6: energy coming at you today, so relax. I'm just saying
- 4:22Speaker 6: they have a really good defense.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Hackers get one elite pass rusher.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Uh, yeah, like they the Texas have a really good defense.
- 4:30Speaker 6: They got Scott C. J. Stroud, who everybody is high on,
- 4:35Speaker 6: who's a really good player. But there's just something about
- 4:38Speaker 6: them right now.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 4:39Speaker 6: They got to find their stride. But they're young, they're talented.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Nico Collins is a great player. I agree with you, though, Taylor, like,
- 4:46Speaker 6: why aren't they better?
- 4:49Speaker 4: And I don't know.
- 4:49Speaker 5: I don't know the answer to that, no idea. But
- 4:52Speaker 5: I'll tell you what Baker's.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Competitor and and who is a good team? You're Chargers.
- 4:59Speaker 6: Oh, thank you. I don't think I've ever heard you
- 5:01Speaker 6: say that they are good. They are pretty good. Look
- 5:05Speaker 6: I don't know. I hadn't watched every game. I'm about
- 5:08Speaker 6: ready to crown Derwin James Junior is the best safety
- 5:10Speaker 6: in the league. There's only been two games. You're saying
- 5:15Speaker 6: are like the total the NFL. I'm saying, I think
- 5:18Speaker 6: he's he's got to be the best safety in the NFL.
- 5:20Speaker 4: R Yeah, he's playing pretty well.
- 5:22Speaker 6: Let me think of I mean, that guy was all
- 5:25Speaker 6: over the place, from rushing the passer to knocking big
- 5:28Speaker 6: plays like not the ball down in big plays down
- 5:30Speaker 6: a distance.
- 5:32Speaker 5: The guy was all over the place. He's fun to watch.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Yeah, he is. And not on wood because you have
- 5:37Speaker 4: been with me long enough. Uh. I think the Chargers
- 5:41Speaker 4: are really good, like you're hesitant to say it, Like
- 5:46Speaker 4: I think they're really good. Herbert looks different. He looks
- 5:50Speaker 4: fully healthy for the first time in a long time.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Receivers look great. Ladarius out there still making plays. Keenan
- 5:59Speaker 4: Allen bag gives you another safety blanket. They're not very
- 6:02Speaker 4: dynamic and tied end that that worries you a little bit.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Who's your other.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Receiver blanking on his name? Quinn Johnson. Quinn Johnson turns
- 6:12Speaker 4: out he can catch, turns.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Out in a row I'm sitting on a pretty good
- 6:15Speaker 6: Quentin Johnson card too.
- 6:17Speaker 4: There you go. That's how we view the NFL.
- 6:22Speaker 5: That's all you like, if people are good or not. Like,
- 6:24Speaker 5: I know C. J.
- 6:24Speaker 6: Stroud's good because this card market is pretty up there,
- 6:28Speaker 6: so I'm like, yeah, he's got to be good, right,
- 6:30Speaker 6: it's fair card.
- 6:30Speaker 4: People know it is fair. And I know we're bouncing
- 6:35Speaker 4: back and forth between the two games. Chargers did beat
- 6:37Speaker 4: the Raiders twenty No, it's good. Uh, But to make
- 6:42Speaker 4: it relevant to what we talk about every single day,
- 6:46Speaker 4: Bucks and Falcons look pretty good.
- 6:49Speaker 5: Yeah they do.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Now the Panthers look like some hot garbage. Sorry, Memphis,
- 6:52Speaker 4: if you're already in the car listening.
- 6:54Speaker 5: They're bad, bad, bad.
- 6:56Speaker 4: So you're not the worst. But I think the South
- 7:00Speaker 4: looks better than people were giving it credit for coming
- 7:03Speaker 4: into the season. And i'd include the Saints in that growth,
- 7:07Speaker 4: in that development. But the Bucks look good. The Falcons
- 7:10Speaker 4: look good against the Vikings kind of winning an ugly
- 7:13Speaker 4: game where you don't score a lot of points and
- 7:15Speaker 4: your defense comes up and you've been so bad getting
- 7:18Speaker 4: after the quarterback and then all of a sudden you
- 7:20Speaker 4: use two first round picks and hey, guess what you
- 7:24Speaker 4: spend draft capital and edge rushers, you might be better
- 7:27Speaker 4: getting after the quarterback.
- 7:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it turns out if you pay really good players,
- 7:30Speaker 6: your team gets better.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Yeah. Just funny how that works.
- 7:34Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I don't believe that.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Well, don't understand that the Cowboys pay people, just not
- 7:40Speaker 4: Michael Parsons.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Hey, they got your Davian Clowney guys, it's fun.
- 7:43Speaker 4: They paid a guard ninety million tight.
- 7:46Speaker 7: End they did, know to your point, to the Trocah,
- 7:50Speaker 7: like the Panthers in the Saints at least first two weeks,
- 7:52Speaker 7: like they're not getting blown out. Like the win loss
- 7:54Speaker 7: record at the end of the year may not look great,
- 7:56Speaker 7: but they're tough howls.
- 7:57Speaker 5: And the Panthers yeah, Caroline, Yeah, I mean what they.
- 8:01Speaker 7: Lost by four or five on Sunday, Like they're a
- 8:05Speaker 7: tough out. And then when you look at the Bucks,
- 8:07Speaker 7: like a lot of people like you know, my buddy
- 8:09Speaker 7: Mount was texting me last night saying, hey, why the
- 8:11Speaker 7: Bucks offense stole out after the first two drops.
- 8:13Speaker 3: They were down three offensive linemen after the.
- 8:16Speaker 7: First Like after the second possession, Luke Geticky went down,
- 8:19Speaker 7: who probably shouldn't have played anyways, like that game's probably
- 8:23Speaker 7: different if he doesn't go down. And then the Falcons,
- 8:25Speaker 7: I mean, they're getting better and better. It's a pretty
- 8:27Speaker 7: good division.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I mean see, yeah, I mean every you should be
- 8:33Speaker 6: a tough out if you're an NFL football team, right,
- 8:34Speaker 6: you should be. And but I agree, the NSS South
- 8:37Speaker 6: was like NFC South was not very well thought of
- 8:40Speaker 6: except for the Buccaneers. But yeah, I think remember, yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 6: the ESPN roster ranking it had like the Bucks at
- 8:47Speaker 6: like eleven and then the Falcons were.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Like twenty four.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Yep.
- 8:51Speaker 4: The Panthers were what twenty nine to thirty, and the
- 8:53Speaker 4: Saints for thirty two.
- 8:55Speaker 5: Yep.
- 8:56Speaker 4: It's much better than that.
- 8:57Speaker 6: It is much better because the NFC South has two
- 9:01Speaker 6: real teams, two real teams this year.
- 9:04Speaker 5: The Falcons are going to be real. We've said it here.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Michael Pennocks junior is going to be a problem in
- 9:10Speaker 6: that division. He's going to be one of these guys
- 9:14Speaker 6: that I believe is going to get better and better
- 9:16Speaker 6: and better, and they're going to be able to build
- 9:20Speaker 6: that team on a rookie quarterback contract for a couple
- 9:23Speaker 6: of years, which is a huge deal.
- 9:25Speaker 5: But you know, now you got the resurgence of our
- 9:28Speaker 5: gut Kyle Pitts.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Although you are paying Kirk Cousins, so actually kind of
- 9:35Speaker 4: like cancel each other out.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 6: I'm not going to psycho out enough to know what
- 9:40Speaker 6: those like Kirk Cousins dead cap spaces or whatever it
- 9:43Speaker 6: is on the team. I guess yet a uniform and everything.
- 9:49Speaker 5: How would you feel about that if you was on
- 9:50Speaker 5: the team.
- 9:51Speaker 4: How did you feel for your Kirk Cousins going back
- 9:53Speaker 4: to a place where you were kind of a star
- 9:56Speaker 4: and you're a backup? Yeah, like you did going to Minnesota.
- 9:59Speaker 6: Yeah, are like this publicly kind of tarnishing that organization
- 10:03Speaker 6: on the Netflix documentary? Yeah, I don't know. Kind of weird.
- 10:08Speaker 6: I bet there's a.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Player only meaning about it. Oh did you hear it?
- 10:13Speaker 6: Well, we forgot to talk about it last I think
- 10:15Speaker 6: last week the Dolphins had a player only meeting. After
- 10:17Speaker 6: week went week one week one player only meaning, good
- 10:20Speaker 6: for them, he's got to take control. You gotta take
- 10:23Speaker 6: control of the narative.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I wonder how much of the message changed from the
- 10:26Speaker 4: last day of the preseason to the first day of
- 10:29Speaker 4: the second week of the season. How different is that message?
- 10:36Speaker 6: Hey you guys, well we suck, so let's get the
- 10:40Speaker 6: coaches out of here.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Who do you think talks in that? Meaning? Mmm?
- 10:45Speaker 6: For the Dolphins, Tyree kill for better or worse? Probably probably,
- 10:52Speaker 6: I mean Jayalen wattles quiet to his quiet who it
- 10:55Speaker 6: probably talks, but it's probably boring, right, It probably doesn't
- 11:00Speaker 6: make sense because of all the brain bruises. Yeah, I
- 11:06Speaker 6: get it, you're probably right right? Not player only A
- 11:12Speaker 6: meeting after week one didn't didn't help. Yeah, they lost
- 11:16Speaker 6: in heartbreaking fashion.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Did you hear Mike McDaniel's post games on Sunday?
- 11:21Speaker 5: I saw a clip.
- 11:22Speaker 7: I don't remember what he basically said, like, well, I
- 11:25Speaker 7: mean in football, you either win the game or lose
- 11:27Speaker 7: the game, and we lost the game.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Facts, I mean that's a true fact.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I mean I can't I can't fact check.
- 11:34Speaker 5: You think you would have a better answer.
- 11:38Speaker 8: That's where you made a mistake thinking he would have
- 11:40Speaker 8: a better answer.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Good point. That little like him, But I don't at
- 11:44Speaker 5: all why.
- 11:45Speaker 3: You know?
- 11:45Speaker 7: He always had this little shtick of like I'm too
- 11:48Speaker 7: cool to care type of thing.
- 11:49Speaker 3: He was also nerdy at the same.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Time, be a little bit more like Bear Bryant, smart Bear.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Oh, I don't know how long old MIC's gonna be
- 12:05Speaker 4: losing games like that.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Yeah, no, he'll be the He'll be the OC for
- 12:08Speaker 6: the Lions next year, for sure.
- 12:10Speaker 4: It makes sense, makes a lot of sense.
- 12:13Speaker 6: Actually, since we're jumping around like from to every NFL
- 12:17Speaker 6: team in this first segment of them, I might as
- 12:22Speaker 6: well bring up the Panthers again and talk about Taylor.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Brought this to my attention yesterday. Thank you for that
- 12:29Speaker 6: fact check. One of my big bold predictions for the
- 12:33Speaker 6: season was Panthers receiver Exavier Lagett was gonna get one
- 12:37Speaker 6: thousand plus receiving yards this year.
- 12:41Speaker 4: He's gonna.
- 12:41Speaker 5: Yeah, we got a little update.
- 12:42Speaker 6: We're gonna he's gonna pop off this year because because uh,
- 12:45Speaker 6: you know, Bryce young he was he finished the season
- 12:48Speaker 6: strong last year. Their offense with dynamic, they get rid
- 12:52Speaker 6: of feeling who was because they have.
- 12:54Speaker 5: All this this young talent.
- 12:55Speaker 6: They got a first round receiver that's gonna take take
- 12:58Speaker 6: some of the pressure off Exaberly. He's gonna really pop
- 13:01Speaker 6: this year. And you know, we got a lot of
- 13:03Speaker 6: time left. There's a lot of season left, sixteen games.
- 13:08Speaker 6: But the first week not great. What do we have
- 13:10Speaker 6: ten yards receiving? Taylor how many receiving yards.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Does he have? Week two he had negative two. Okay,
- 13:16Speaker 5: so now so I.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Went into the week two he needed nine to ninety
- 13:21Speaker 6: for me to put that turnover chain on. This week
- 13:25Speaker 6: we're going into week three, we need nine to ninety two.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Got it?
- 13:30Speaker 4: Hey, how are you feeling?
- 13:32Speaker 5: Feeling? Not bad? Not bad.
- 13:34Speaker 6: It's a long season. Seventeen games, I mean there's fifteen
- 13:37Speaker 6: games left. Yeah, yeah, I mean plenty of people have
- 13:40Speaker 6: got a thousand yards in fifteen games. Plenty of people
- 13:43Speaker 6: will say he set a record, like you know, Jerry.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Rice probably yeah, probably like Tim Brown.
- 13:48Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, he set a record most targets in a
- 13:53Speaker 7: game with negative receiving yards.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Eight eight targets was good for negative two yards.
- 14:00Speaker 5: That is what that is.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Remarkable. That's remarkable, pretty good. That really brought down Bryce
- 14:11Speaker 6: Bryce's yards per attempt.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Yeah. I wonder what that is for the season. You
- 14:16Speaker 5: know what can't be good?
- 14:18Speaker 4: All Saints fans everywhere should feel thankful for the Carolina Panthers.
- 14:24Speaker 4: They're not the worst. They're not.
- 14:25Speaker 6: Well, we'll see, I don't think they are. We're gonna
- 14:27Speaker 6: find out. What was the score against Arizona for the
- 14:29Speaker 6: Saints twenty thirteen. Yeah, so they lost by seven. Ye,
- 14:36Speaker 6: the Panthers lost to the to the Cardinals by five.
- 14:40Speaker 4: All right, we're not doing that this morning. We're not
- 14:42Speaker 4: starting it off like that. We'll take a break. Unfortunately,
- 14:46Speaker 4: we we do have like an injury to LSU's quarterback
- 14:52Speaker 4: that we didn't really know about. That I gotta ask
- 14:55Speaker 4: you about because I don't know what it's like throwing
- 14:57Speaker 4: the football with an injury, and you probably do. So
- 15:00Speaker 4: we're gonna ask you about that when we come back.
- 15:02Speaker 4: We're gonna get the show started. OTB, stay locked in
- 15:07Speaker 4: off the bench.

- 16:57Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in OTV here on this Tuesday morning.
- 17:06Speaker 4: We talked so much about the knee injury that really
- 17:10Speaker 4: wasn't a big deal in training camp for garretts Meyer.
- 17:14Speaker 5: You know you talking about what his fell off.
- 17:16Speaker 4: It went leg fell off and everybody came again and
- 17:18Speaker 4: he had like a minor Great they did, great, you
- 17:21Speaker 4: had a minor sprain there. We've seen you know, a
- 17:25Speaker 4: Nie sleeve here and there still like sometimes a practice
- 17:28Speaker 4: whatever from some of the photos that we've seen them
- 17:30Speaker 4: put out, so we like we've known that that's been
- 17:34Speaker 4: a part of the first couple of games for Garrettsmeyer.
- 17:39Speaker 4: But it turns out Brian Kelly said yesterday that he's
- 17:42Speaker 4: been nursing a torso injury, and uh, hey, t do
- 17:45Speaker 4: we have that? Sound all right, let's go ahead and play.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Here is Brian Kelly talking about nus Meyer and this
- 17:51Speaker 4: injury that we didn't really know he had.
- 17:53Speaker 10: I'll be honest, and I wasn't going to get into this,
- 17:55Speaker 10: but with you guys, I will.
- 17:56Speaker 5: You know, he's been slowed a.
- 17:58Speaker 10: Little bit with a torso injury, and he's fighting through it,
- 18:02Speaker 10: and he's getting better, and he's not going to be
- 18:03Speaker 10: able to really shut it down until we get to
- 18:05Speaker 10: the bye week. And I'm not saying that that has
- 18:07Speaker 10: had any of his troubles. I think he is a
- 18:10Speaker 10: symptom of what I just answered from Wilson in that
- 18:13Speaker 10: you know, we're not ripping it, you know on fourth down,
- 18:15Speaker 10: you know, we're taking some plays away from him as well,
- 18:18Speaker 10: and he's done a really good job. I think he
- 18:20Speaker 10: managed the run game as well.
- 18:22Speaker 5: As he has all year.
- 18:24Speaker 10: We got to let him get the ball out to
- 18:25Speaker 10: the playmakers. That would be more of what has to happen,
- 18:29Speaker 10: and then we've got to keep him healthy.
- 18:32Speaker 4: All right, I'll throw it to our quarterback because well,
- 18:36Speaker 4: I've never thrown a football with a torso injury, and
- 18:39Speaker 4: I've never thrown a football in a game, and that
- 18:43Speaker 4: feels like a body part that it is not ideal
- 18:46Speaker 4: to be able to let it rip if you have
- 18:48Speaker 4: any kind of torso abdomen. I don't know. Yeah, well,
- 18:53Speaker 4: on where it's at.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it kind of depends on what I mean, I
- 18:56Speaker 6: guess it doesn't. It doesn't depend on where it is.
- 18:58Speaker 6: But like a torso injury is a torso injury, it's
- 19:00Speaker 6: got to be some sort of ab muscle pull pull
- 19:04Speaker 6: or some sort of most muscle pul I don't know
- 19:07Speaker 6: what other injury it could be, which is highly effect.
- 19:14Speaker 5: That would be a little.
- 19:15Speaker 6: Bit more serious, though I think that. I mean, that's
- 19:18Speaker 6: I mean, I'm assuming there's probably grades but the surgery
- 19:25Speaker 6: when it's like a sports herney situation, but it's got
- 19:27Speaker 6: to be some sort of muscle pull or aggravation or something.
- 19:33Speaker 5: But I can tell you the way, if you have
- 19:35Speaker 5: a powerful.
- 19:36Speaker 6: Onm like all throwers, all swingers are all kickers, your
- 19:38Speaker 6: power comes from your rotation, right, It's not then come
- 19:41Speaker 6: from big strong arm. It comes from how you your
- 19:45Speaker 6: timing of the rotation of your hips and your and
- 19:48Speaker 6: your lower body and then can you time up your
- 19:50Speaker 6: arm and sync it up with that. But you know,
- 19:52Speaker 6: the harder you throw it, the more torque is produced
- 19:57Speaker 6: with your hips and the rotation, so you spin harder
- 20:02Speaker 6: and what I mean spind You spin your hips harder
- 20:04Speaker 6: the harder you hit it. That's why I like a
- 20:06Speaker 6: golfer that is, you know, five to six about twenty five,
- 20:12Speaker 6: can hit it farther than the strongest guy in the
- 20:14Speaker 6: world because they create they create speed. So the faster
- 20:18Speaker 6: you spend, the faster you can move your arm. The
- 20:20Speaker 6: faster the better leverage, and the faster the ball speed. Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 6: so of course that's going to make a big difference.
- 20:26Speaker 6: And Garrett is so talented with his arm. We've seen
- 20:30Speaker 6: it for two years now and real action started last
- 20:34Speaker 6: year than the year before that, and some backup duties,
- 20:36Speaker 6: and we saw it in the Bowl game versus Wisconsin.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Like we know he can make all the throws.
- 20:41Speaker 6: So when I look back on games, when I look
- 20:43Speaker 6: back at Louisian attack early on and he throws a
- 20:46Speaker 6: deep ball that's ten yards behind the receiver, you start
- 20:52Speaker 6: putting the pieces together. Now that Brian Kelly says this,
- 20:56Speaker 6: you start looking at the evidence on the field, and
- 21:00Speaker 6: it makes sense, right, it makes sense that he hasn't
- 21:03Speaker 6: been able to make all the throws, especially when your
- 21:07Speaker 6: foot when your feet get when.
- 21:09Speaker 5: Everything's not perfect.
- 21:10Speaker 6: So when everything's not perfect, like if your feet are
- 21:13Speaker 6: right under you, like you're warming up, the pocket's cleaned,
- 21:16Speaker 6: everything is perfect, it's easy to you know, keep your
- 21:19Speaker 6: shoulder closed. It's easy to kind of protect that. What's
- 21:22Speaker 6: what's painful. But when your feet get out of whack,
- 21:26Speaker 6: when you're having to move in the pocket, move around,
- 21:29Speaker 6: and your feet, like, you still have to create torque
- 21:32Speaker 6: in different ways.
- 21:32Speaker 5: You still have to create torque.
- 21:33Speaker 6: But let's just say if you know how you normally throw,
- 21:36Speaker 6: like you stand up and you know your your your
- 21:38Speaker 6: feet are parallel, your shoulders point at your target foot,
- 21:42Speaker 6: you step perfectly. But let's just say your feet are
- 21:46Speaker 6: spread out, yeah, and they're not they're they're both of
- 21:51Speaker 6: your feet are Pope pointing at the target. So then
- 21:53Speaker 6: you've got to really close your left shoulder down. Now
- 21:55Speaker 6: you've got to create a lot of torque. And so
- 21:57Speaker 6: when that happens, I can and see how torso injury
- 22:01Speaker 6: would be very effective. And I think we saw that
- 22:03Speaker 6: in the D ball and we've seen that he's just
- 22:05Speaker 6: he hadn't you know, he's looking good at times, but
- 22:09Speaker 6: he's making some throws they're a little bit uncharacteristic to
- 22:12Speaker 6: what we've seen and like if he was a brand
- 22:14Speaker 6: new starter, you wouldn't be able to have those tails.
- 22:18Speaker 6: But we've seen him make every single throw consistently on
- 22:21Speaker 6: the football field, So you know, if he's not wincing
- 22:27Speaker 6: though he's not like, it can't be so bad that
- 22:32Speaker 6: a little lot of profin's not helping it. But I
- 22:34Speaker 6: think it's.
- 22:35Speaker 4: When the strongest thing, uh.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Real high powered. But I don't know, I mean, it's
- 22:45Speaker 5: just my curiosity.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Is but there has been something that has been a
- 22:50Speaker 4: little off, and we've.
- 22:52Speaker 6: Just thought, I got a footwork mechanical, Like he's just
- 22:54Speaker 6: off mechanically a little bit.
- 22:57Speaker 5: He's been off his.
- 22:58Speaker 6: His platform as so it makes sense though from what
- 23:02Speaker 6: I've noticed, that it would be kind of protecting a
- 23:05Speaker 6: little bit of an injury.
- 23:07Speaker 4: So later on in the show, I'll pull up I
- 23:12Speaker 4: have the passing chart and kind of where he's thrown
- 23:15Speaker 4: every football, how far it's traveled, and you can kind
- 23:20Speaker 4: of see what we're talking about.
- 23:21Speaker 6: And look, you've noticed, I mean, look are football fans,
- 23:25Speaker 6: I'll watched a lot of football, Like you realize that
- 23:27Speaker 6: the ball hasn't been pushed down the field a ton.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Like the Louisiana Tech throw is like really the one
- 23:37Speaker 4: that I can think of in three games where it's like, hey,
- 23:40Speaker 4: let a rip, go out there and see how far
- 23:42Speaker 4: you can throw it. Yep, I don't remember seeing another one.
- 23:46Speaker 4: That's not to say you hadn't thrown like, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 4: a deep dig route. You've certainly done that. I believe
- 23:52Speaker 4: you hit a corner route early not the last game,
- 23:55Speaker 4: earlier in the season. But when you look at the
- 23:57Speaker 4: passing chart, you look at the passing map, there hasn't
- 24:01Speaker 4: been a ton of pushing the ball down the field,
- 24:04Speaker 4: and certainly like your deeper throws have actually been over
- 24:07Speaker 4: the middle and haven't been towards the sideline between you know,
- 24:11Speaker 4: the numbers and the sideline.
- 24:13Speaker 6: He's going to be a farther throat and deeper throws
- 24:15Speaker 6: over the middle. Are you got to think about it?
- 24:17Speaker 6: It's kind of what I'm talking Everything is like perfect,
- 24:19Speaker 6: Like your feet are perfectly in line, your shoulders perfectly
- 24:21Speaker 6: in line.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Now when you start throwing to the sideline.
- 24:24Speaker 6: So I would think if you go back with a
- 24:26Speaker 6: torso injury, for a right handed quarterback, thrown to the left,
- 24:28Speaker 6: is going to stress your a torso injury out, Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 6: because kind of the kind of what I'm talking about,
- 24:33Speaker 6: if your feet are at a weird angle as a
- 24:36Speaker 6: right a quarterback, you really have to torch your left
- 24:38Speaker 6: shoulder when you're rolling to your left to close down. Now,
- 24:41Speaker 6: if you're rolling to your right, everything's kind of perfect. Yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 6: So I would think that that would create a little
- 24:46Speaker 6: bit less stress less pain in a stone motion. But
- 24:50Speaker 6: running to his left, I would imagine he's got a
- 24:53Speaker 6: little less zip, little less juice, little less accuracy to that.
- 24:57Speaker 5: All right.
- 24:57Speaker 4: So with all that being said, and again don't specifically
- 25:01Speaker 4: know what the injury is, just a torso injury, but really, honestly,
- 25:05Speaker 4: no matter what it is, that is going to be
- 25:07Speaker 4: something that affects you throwing the football certainly down the field. Well,
- 25:11Speaker 4: what does that mean for the next couple of weeks.
- 25:14Speaker 4: We'll take a look. Don't temp me with a good
- 25:20Speaker 4: time here, buddy, let's do it. Don't tempt me with
- 25:23Speaker 4: a good time. I mean, hey, hey, he closed out
- 25:26Speaker 4: last game. But let's take a look at the next
- 25:27Speaker 4: couple of weeks. Okay, because Brian Kelly, you heard him
- 25:30Speaker 4: there say we can't really shut it down until the
- 25:33Speaker 4: bye week. Well, you have an opportunity this week with
- 25:36Speaker 4: an FCS opponent coming to town. What does the game
- 25:39Speaker 4: plan for Garrett Nesmeyer look like. We'll break it all
- 25:42Speaker 4: down when we come back here on OTV.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Off the Bench?
- 25:46Speaker 4: Are you go to Russell Pools dot com. That's a
- 25:48Speaker 4: website for Russell pool Company.
- 25:50Speaker 6: One of the cool things about the homepage of their
- 25:52Speaker 6: website is going to continue to show you a pull
- 25:55Speaker 6: and show you a pool and show you a pool.
- 25:57Speaker 6: And the best part about it, it's all going to
- 25:59Speaker 6: be different.
- 26:00Speaker 4: It's gonna be probably one of the most custom pools
- 26:04Speaker 4: you've seen every single time, no matter which pool is
- 26:07Speaker 4: on the ticker. There no kidney shape. But hey, if
- 26:10Speaker 4: you're into that, they can do that. If you're into
- 26:12Speaker 4: just like a straight wrectangle pool. Right, they can do
- 26:15Speaker 4: that as well. But as you see on the homepage,
- 26:17Speaker 4: I mean they can customize your pool. They are truly
- 26:20Speaker 4: like that one stop shop there there from the beginning
- 26:23Speaker 4: to the end, and then even after the end, when
- 26:25Speaker 4: they get done with your pool, they're there for your
- 26:26Speaker 4: maintenance as well. Go check them out, Russellpools dot Com.
- 26:29Speaker 5: That's right.
- 26:30Speaker 6: They can customize anything you can dream of. So if
- 26:32Speaker 6: it's a lazy river, if it's a grotto and an
- 26:35Speaker 6: infinity edge, cannot get a hot tub, whatever it is,
- 26:38Speaker 6: whatever that dream is, give them a call. Let them
- 26:41Speaker 6: take your project from a dream in your brain to
- 26:44Speaker 6: actual reality. Right there, Russell Pools dot Com.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Tigers Turn Talkers. This is off the bench, all right, welcome.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Back in no TV. What's the theme today? There, Landa.
- 27:28Speaker 8: I think this is two eighties songs back to back.
- 27:30Speaker 8: But I'm like, I played Policy of Truth because I
- 27:33Speaker 8: was listening to it this morning and that song just
- 27:35Speaker 8: hits different. And then this was on the suggestion and
- 27:38Speaker 8: so I just played this one. All right, you can
- 27:40Speaker 8: change it up though.
- 27:41Speaker 4: No, No, I'm just trying to trying to see hone
- 27:45Speaker 4: in on what it is. Yeah, it's a vibe.
- 27:51Speaker 8: I think depeche Mode is a vibe.
- 27:54Speaker 4: I'll go, mister, but yeah, for sure, for sure, but yeah,
- 27:58Speaker 4: for sure, it's such a vibe. All right, let's go
- 28:01Speaker 4: ahead and get this thing started.
- 28:04Speaker 1: It's time to get glowing courtesy of go Flow ivy
- 28:07Speaker 1: spa where hydration, vitamins and a summer ready glow are
- 28:11Speaker 1: always on tap. Now for starters, all.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Right, go to go flowiv dot com. You see the
- 28:18Speaker 4: number behind me two to five nine five three eight
- 28:21Speaker 4: one five zero. Give them a call as well, because well,
- 28:25Speaker 4: you always need to be hydrated, and it was hot
- 28:29Speaker 4: this weekend on Saturday walking around campus. So go ahead,
- 28:34Speaker 4: be proactive, be hydrated, not just for the weekend, but
- 28:36Speaker 4: for the entire week. And then look at maybe you know,
- 28:40Speaker 4: maybe you stayed up late watching your favorite NFL team
- 28:42Speaker 4: and you gotta wake up and do a morning show
- 28:44Speaker 4: the next day, you know, maybe, so maybe you can
- 28:46Speaker 4: go there afterwards and get a little little energy, a
- 28:50Speaker 4: little boost, if you will, Flinn, a little boost.
- 28:52Speaker 5: The vitamins.
- 28:53Speaker 6: Yes, because you get vitaminzed. You put that vitamins right
- 28:55Speaker 6: into the ivy fluid and just injected straight into you. Yep,
- 28:59Speaker 6: it's a media yep, and holy humidity out there this morning.
- 29:02Speaker 6: I had my windshield wipers on like it was raining.
- 29:05Speaker 4: It was so humid.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Kept fogging up. John have that problem too, uh a
- 29:10Speaker 5: little bit?
- 29:10Speaker 6: So go get hydrated, get vitamines right there, right there
- 29:12Speaker 6: on Jefferson now went nearboat, go float.
- 29:14Speaker 5: I be all right.
- 29:15Speaker 4: So we mentioned the Gary Nessumier injury and Brian Kelly
- 29:19Speaker 4: said he's dealing with a little bit of a torso
- 29:21Speaker 4: when talked about what it possibly could be. But no
- 29:24Speaker 4: matter what it is, it certainly is something that is
- 29:27Speaker 4: going to affect the way you throw the football. And
- 29:29Speaker 4: Brian Kelly said, it's like that's not the only reason.
- 29:31Speaker 4: There's a couple of things that we need to do better.
- 29:34Speaker 4: U And they have Southeastern Louisiana coming up, the fighting
- 29:37Speaker 4: tats coming up this weekend inside of Tiger Stadium and Flint.
- 29:42Speaker 4: I'm w I throw this one to you before we
- 29:44Speaker 4: showed the passing map that we talked about in the
- 29:47Speaker 4: last segment. All right, now you are three and zero
- 29:52Speaker 4: is the number three team in the country. You start
- 29:56Speaker 4: SEC play back again next week against soul Miss on
- 30:00Speaker 4: the road. What do you do if you're the head
- 30:05Speaker 4: coach with Garrett Nessmeyer this week. Again, you're somebody that's
- 30:11Speaker 4: been in this situation. You had to miss Middle Tennessee
- 30:14Speaker 4: State our senior year because you weren't ready to go
- 30:17Speaker 4: and you needed some rest.
- 30:19Speaker 6: If it's really a problem, which if you're trying to
- 30:21Speaker 6: read the tea leaves and go back and overanalyze the
- 30:25Speaker 6: first three weeks, you could make the argument that it
- 30:31Speaker 6: has affected the game plan. Potentially, This is all potential.
- 30:34Speaker 6: I have no idea. But if it has affected the
- 30:37Speaker 6: game plan to the point to which your offense is
- 30:42Speaker 6: running at half the capacity it was last year, which
- 30:46Speaker 6: is kind of the truth up to this point, then
- 30:50Speaker 6: I would send him there's no point in playing in
- 30:52Speaker 6: one quarter.
- 30:53Speaker 5: What's that do?
- 30:53Speaker 6: He's still got to practice and throw every single day, right,
- 30:56Speaker 6: what's that do? It doesn't do anything. So you either
- 30:58Speaker 6: rest them the entire week, or you go out there
- 31:02Speaker 6: and if you decide to play them, it's not like
- 31:03Speaker 6: you're going to play him for one quarter. You just
- 31:05Speaker 6: play them at that point until he comes out naturally
- 31:08Speaker 6: throughout the progression of the game. If you get up big,
- 31:11Speaker 6: which you should, but he can't beat Southeastern without Garret
- 31:15Speaker 6: Dustmyer then.
- 31:18Speaker 4: What are we doing? Yeah, so and I do. Look,
- 31:23Speaker 4: I hate to talk about about any team. To your point,
- 31:26Speaker 4: it's just a different it's a different game, right, It's
- 31:28Speaker 4: there's some opponents that are from the G six love
- 31:33Speaker 4: you Southeast that you do have to hydrate it, you do,
- 31:35Speaker 4: so do you have to worry about But you're right,
- 31:38Speaker 4: like you have a backup quarterback that has multiple games
- 31:40Speaker 4: of sec starting experience. So if that is an option,
- 31:43Speaker 4: if it is something where the severity of what you're
- 31:46Speaker 4: talking about, then that's a decision you have to make.
- 31:50Speaker 6: You We used to say, what did Stacy Searles used
- 31:55Speaker 6: to say it offensive.
- 31:56Speaker 5: Oh lord, I'm nervously playing Mississippi State. During the week,
- 32:02Speaker 5: he was like, we're.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Playing Mississippi State.
- 32:05Speaker 6: You are playing All the guys at LSU didn't offer
- 32:08Speaker 6: scholarships too, So like this year your backup quarterback at LSUC.
- 32:14Speaker 5: Your backup quarterback at LSU. Like I'm sorry, Like it's
- 32:17Speaker 5: just a different level of college.
- 32:18Speaker 6: Obviously we all know this. We're not speaking for Southeastern
- 32:21Speaker 6: knows this. Like they didn't get a scholarship offer from
- 32:24Speaker 6: Southeastern because that Southeastern knew that they wouldn't go there, right,
- 32:27Speaker 6: so like the backup quarterback at LSU should be able to.
- 32:30Speaker 5: Go in there and play ball.
- 32:32Speaker 6: So if it has effected, which if you like, again
- 32:35Speaker 6: looking back at the game, looking at looking back at
- 32:38Speaker 6: the tape, looking back at the stats and the passing chart,
- 32:41Speaker 6: it's like you can make the argument that something has
- 32:43Speaker 6: been off and the game plan has been tailored around that.
- 32:45Speaker 6: We talk about all these passes behind the line of scrimmage,
- 32:48Speaker 6: all these screenplays, all everything that we're doing, the question
- 32:53Speaker 6: can be posed.
- 32:54Speaker 5: We'll never get the answer. We won't know this. But Taylor,
- 32:58Speaker 5: do you have my computer pulled up?
- 33:00Speaker 6: Go ahead and show that we got the passing chart
- 33:02Speaker 6: pulled up here, and we're gonna kind of show you
- 33:07Speaker 6: exactly what is happening with.
- 33:09Speaker 4: And I mean, just so you know, although like in
- 33:11Speaker 4: this conversation it doesn't really matter too much. The green
- 33:16Speaker 4: dots are completed, the blue dots are touchdowns, the yellow
- 33:20Speaker 4: dots are incomplete and kind of the maroon ones or interceptions,
- 33:24Speaker 4: and the purple is pick sixes.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Yeah, so you don't have anything you're gonna see here.
- 33:29Speaker 6: It looks like, you know, there's just spots and freckles
- 33:31Speaker 6: everywhere on this on the screen. But if you start
- 33:35Speaker 6: looking closely at everything, the one that is crazy to
- 33:39Speaker 6: me is the behind the line of scrimmage. So behind
- 33:41Speaker 6: the line of scrimmage, there's twenty four so one hundred
- 33:43Speaker 6: and sixteen pass attempts to total, all right, so twenty
- 33:47Speaker 6: four of them are behind the line of scrimmage. Twenty
- 33:50Speaker 6: nine passes are within five yards of the line of scrimmage.
- 33:54Speaker 6: So that's a total of forty nearly forty six percent
- 33:57Speaker 6: of your passes or five or left, so nearly about
- 34:02Speaker 6: twenty percent of your passes. A little bit more than
- 34:04Speaker 6: twenty percent of your passes are going behind the line
- 34:06Speaker 6: of scrimmage. Which can you make that argument of in
- 34:11Speaker 6: this offense with dynamic receivers, with a quarterback who has
- 34:16Speaker 6: aired the ball out day in weekend, week out last year,
- 34:20Speaker 6: thrown for a billion yards in his first ever start
- 34:22Speaker 6: in a bowl game versus Wisconsin, Like, can we sit
- 34:27Speaker 6: there and say that they're not game planning around some
- 34:30Speaker 6: sort of some sort of injury where he can't create
- 34:33Speaker 6: the torque he want that he really wants like he can.
- 34:37Speaker 6: But if you're throwing through pain, especially down the field,
- 34:41Speaker 6: thrown it hard, you're going to be less accurate. It's
- 34:44Speaker 6: just impossible. You're going to make some accurate throws. It's
- 34:46Speaker 6: kind of like a quarterback with bad mechanics can make
- 34:49Speaker 6: good throws, but he's not going to do it at
- 34:50Speaker 6: a consistent level that you need to do to be
- 34:53Speaker 6: at to play at a high level for a consistent
- 34:55Speaker 6: amount of time. So, yeah, you can show clips, Well
- 34:59Speaker 6: look at this though, Well that's great. Well, yeah, it
- 35:01Speaker 6: doesn't mean like every throw is gonna be like that.
- 35:03Speaker 6: If he's wincing through it, if he has pain creating
- 35:05Speaker 6: that torque and throwing it down the field, he might
- 35:08Speaker 6: make one, two, three good throws, but he's gonna make
- 35:12Speaker 6: a throw that is not good. He might make two
- 35:14Speaker 6: throws that are not good, three throws that are not good. Like,
- 35:16Speaker 6: it's not gonna be as consistent as you want. So
- 35:20Speaker 6: I think based on that passing chart, like it doesn't
- 35:22Speaker 6: look too dissimilar.
- 35:23Speaker 5: There's always going to be more passes short.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Yeah, right, but he's this is a little six longest
- 35:29Speaker 4: throws so far are twenty six, twenty eight, actually twenty
- 35:35Speaker 4: six to three at twenty eight yards, a thirty two
- 35:38Speaker 4: yarder and then a thirty four yard airtime thirty four
- 35:42Speaker 4: yards is the longest so far down the.
- 35:44Speaker 6: Field, and that thirty four yard or so thirty four
- 35:46Speaker 6: is not that far right, And that was the one
- 35:48Speaker 6: that was so intercepting, and that was the one that
- 35:51Speaker 6: was intercepted. He threw it about ten yards behind the guy.
- 35:54Speaker 6: So his furthest air throw this season was thirty four
- 35:58Speaker 6: yards and it was about five five, ten yards behind
- 36:00Speaker 6: the guy. So like there's an argument there to be
- 36:03Speaker 6: made that this has effected the game plan. Like there's
- 36:06Speaker 6: one throw that's about forty five yards right at the
- 36:09Speaker 6: top tip up.
- 36:12Speaker 4: I don't even don't remember, to your point, even one
- 36:15Speaker 4: that I sat there and remember, I don't.
- 36:17Speaker 5: I don't even they're call yep.
- 36:20Speaker 6: And beside the interception, there's only one other throw that's
- 36:22Speaker 6: passed thirty yards in the air. Yeah, but again, but
- 36:26Speaker 6: to our point, Pepper in the middle of the field.
- 36:28Speaker 6: Pepper in the middle of the field, in that intermediate range,
- 36:33Speaker 6: that ten to twenty twenty yard range. I see Aaron
- 36:38Speaker 6: Anderson dots all.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Over this place, and I'm also I'm looking. So I
- 36:42Speaker 4: went back and I looked at last year's like complete
- 36:46Speaker 4: totality of the chart and the middle of the football
- 36:51Speaker 4: field kind of looks like a Christmas tree at forty
- 36:56Speaker 4: plus yards where you don't see a single die on
- 37:00Speaker 4: there this year.
- 37:02Speaker 6: And you can't credit the defenses for all of that, right,
- 37:06Speaker 6: Like we talked about it with like when teams play
- 37:08Speaker 6: over the top, they play a big shell coverage, you
- 37:11Speaker 6: take what you can get. That we watched it. That's
- 37:14Speaker 6: not what this is. Like, there's a lot of it.
- 37:15Speaker 6: Of course, you're you're gonna have a lot of checkdowns.
- 37:18Speaker 6: A lot of great quarterbacks, a lot of Hall of
- 37:20Speaker 6: Fame quarterbacks made their career on hitting the checkdown. Yeah,
- 37:23Speaker 6: and checking it down and getting guys in space. So
- 37:26Speaker 6: that's gonna be there. That should be a part of
- 37:28Speaker 6: every good quarterback.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Yeah, this isn't even necessarily like we're not sitting here
- 37:31Speaker 4: talking about like you have to like every single but
- 37:35Speaker 4: it's just showing you they have not right and that
- 37:38Speaker 4: and you pair that with hearing that maybe there's a
- 37:41Speaker 4: torso injury, it's like, okay, well do they have the
- 37:43Speaker 4: ability to do so? Now, Look, coverage are gonna dictate
- 37:45Speaker 4: a lot of that too. Like last week, Florida's like, hey,
- 37:48Speaker 4: we're gonna play two high safeties and we're just we're
- 37:51Speaker 4: not gonna allow you to throw it over the top
- 37:54Speaker 4: one out of five, and we don't think you can
- 37:55Speaker 4: run it either, So we're gonna.
- 37:56Speaker 6: Keep two twenty point six eight percent, So one out
- 37:59Speaker 6: of just omber one out of every time. At five
- 38:03Speaker 6: times Garrett moves his right arm and that ball comes
- 38:06Speaker 6: out of his hand, it's going behind one of scrimmage.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Yeah, so certainly something to pay attention to. We'll see
- 38:12Speaker 4: what happens this week.
- 38:14Speaker 5: We might have just overanalyzed something that's you.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Might have no idea, but it's not an injury that
- 38:19Speaker 4: we knew before. And you're wondering, Okay, this does look
- 38:22Speaker 4: a little bit different the chart. Before even pulled it up,
- 38:27Speaker 4: I kind of had an idea of what it was
- 38:28Speaker 4: going to be. But even those numbers that you gave
- 38:30Speaker 4: are a little bit higher than I even thought. I mean,
- 38:33Speaker 4: that's that's a high percentage of the time. Then when
- 38:35Speaker 4: you go back and you look at what last year's
- 38:37Speaker 4: chart was as far as deep shots over the middle
- 38:39Speaker 4: of the field, Now, look your three games in that
- 38:42Speaker 4: could change. But you had multiple big plays, big shots
- 38:47Speaker 4: in the middle of the football field forty plus yards
- 38:49Speaker 4: in the air, and you have yet to have one
- 38:51Speaker 4: of those this year.
- 38:54Speaker 6: That Yeah, looking at that chart, it was kind of
- 38:56Speaker 6: shocking to me how few dots were passed thirty year
- 39:00Speaker 6: yards crazy.
- 39:03Speaker 4: All right, we will step away continue breaking down LSU.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Of course, we'll get into some Saints talk as well.
- 39:10Speaker 4: We got O guy Nick Underhill joining us a little
- 39:12Speaker 4: bit later on. He's gonna have to say something nice
- 39:14Speaker 4: about Spencer Rattler, all of that tough form when we
- 39:17Speaker 4: come back here on OTV.

- 41:34Speaker 4: All right, So, one of the things of you know,
- 41:36Speaker 4: surrounding the passing game that I feel like it is
- 41:39Speaker 4: just like an easy take is the offensive line, which
- 41:44Speaker 4: is just not factual in the passing game, in the
- 41:47Speaker 4: run game. And I don't know if this was on
- 41:49Speaker 4: air or off air yesterday, Flynn, you were talking about
- 41:52Speaker 4: it and you're right, like it's robotic. Yep, it's this
- 41:55Speaker 4: is my guy. They're worried about assignment.
- 41:57Speaker 6: You worried about their technique, Oh, coach told me, I
- 42:00Speaker 6: I gotta put presents on him for to to count.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Yeah, even even when you don't have to have hand presence, Yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 6: Even when the leverage of the defensive tackle doesn't doesn't
- 42:09Speaker 6: tell you.
- 42:10Speaker 4: Yes, So that part of it. Yeah, we can sit there,
- 42:13Speaker 4: we can watch tape and I and I would agree
- 42:15Speaker 4: with you. Probably it's not even a talent thing. I
- 42:17Speaker 4: think it's just like trying to be perfect too much,
- 42:21Speaker 4: and sometimes in the run game, not even sometimes most
- 42:23Speaker 4: of the time, that can get you in trouble. But
- 42:25Speaker 4: to just throw a blanket on offensive line, here's your
- 42:29Speaker 4: starting grades for your offensive line in pass protection. And also,
- 42:33Speaker 4: like your eye should have told you, like there was
- 42:35Speaker 4: a real clean pocket. You gave up no sacks to Florida.
- 42:39Speaker 4: They had seven against you a year ago. You gave
- 42:42Speaker 4: up zero. Your starting center Braylan Moore eighty seven point nine.
- 42:47Speaker 4: This is on the season, by the way, this is
- 42:49Speaker 4: just one game. Paul Mubinga your left guard eighty three
- 42:54Speaker 4: point three, Josh Thompson your right guard eighty one point two,
- 42:57Speaker 4: Tyree Adams your left tackle eight point nine. Now West
- 43:01Speaker 4: and Davis your right tackle. And that's probably where you've
- 43:04Speaker 4: seen the most leakage from sixty two. So I can
- 43:09Speaker 4: we can have that conversation. But when you've got on
- 43:12Speaker 4: Pro Football Focus, which we love here, we talk about
- 43:14Speaker 4: the grades. Often when you have all other starting linemen
- 43:18Speaker 4: at least at seventy eight point nine or higher, it's
- 43:23Speaker 4: the take doesn't take. It's not a take. You watch
- 43:27Speaker 4: tape and there's clean pockets, Like they have faced off
- 43:31Speaker 4: against Clemson that's got two first round defensive linemen and
- 43:35Speaker 4: given up one sack, and then they play a Florida
- 43:38Speaker 4: team that sacked you seven times a year ago and
- 43:42Speaker 4: you give up no sacks. The pass protection doesn't go
- 43:46Speaker 4: into the equation of why you haven't been as successful
- 43:49Speaker 4: throwing the football. It just doesn't. You can use it
- 43:52Speaker 4: as a narrative, but it's just not factual. Now in
- 43:55Speaker 4: the run game, again, you're right there, and again it's
- 43:58Speaker 4: not a talent thing. Right now, It's not like they're
- 44:00Speaker 4: just getting run through. They're just trying to be so
- 44:02Speaker 4: perfect in hand placement. Here it's like, well, actually your
- 44:06Speaker 4: guy had him already and you're wasting time getting to
- 44:08Speaker 4: the second level. We can have that conversation, but as
- 44:12Speaker 4: far as the passing portion of this, I'm not gonna
- 44:16Speaker 4: sit here and say that the pockets haven't been good,
- 44:18Speaker 4: because they have been.
- 44:20Speaker 6: Yeah, and when you have that many passes like we
- 44:23Speaker 6: just kind of broke down that passing chart that are
- 44:25Speaker 6: either behind the line of scrimmage or within five yards,
- 44:27Speaker 6: those are quick hitting things, and that is like, if
- 44:30Speaker 6: you're gonna protect an offensive line, yeah, you do it
- 44:34Speaker 6: with an element of quick passes, you do with the
- 44:37Speaker 6: element of screens, but at some point in games you
- 44:41Speaker 6: have to push the ball. You have to push it, yeah,
- 44:45Speaker 6: or you're just gonna get teed off on on screen
- 44:48Speaker 6: passes you're teed off on, you're gonna press coverage, you're
- 44:50Speaker 6: gonna have safeties jumping down.
- 44:52Speaker 5: And there's other ways to help.
- 44:54Speaker 6: You help with chips, you help with nudges, you help
- 44:56Speaker 6: with thumps, you help with different ways that tied ends
- 44:59Speaker 6: and run can help the tackles block a defensive end.
- 45:03Speaker 6: And just like you said, right tackle, we probably seen
- 45:05Speaker 6: more chips, more thumps from on that side of the ball,
- 45:09Speaker 6: just helping the right tackle out a little bit more.
- 45:12Speaker 6: But a bad offensive line is not what we have,
- 45:15Speaker 6: Like we don't have a bad pass protecting off Like
- 45:18Speaker 6: I don't know, it's not last year's offensive line by
- 45:20Speaker 6: any means to this point in the season. But and
- 45:24Speaker 6: they're getting better at working with each other. But you still,
- 45:26Speaker 6: like you push the ball down the field. Still there's
- 45:29Speaker 6: ways to protect it and push it. Like we saw
- 45:31Speaker 6: well Jaden's first year It was kind of the opposite,
- 45:34Speaker 6: the wrong way of doing it when you're just protecting
- 45:37Speaker 6: with seven eight guys and trying to throw a deep.
- 45:39Speaker 6: But the element, the threat of throwing it short, throwing
- 45:43Speaker 6: screens protects your offensive line as well. So I don't know,
- 45:48Speaker 6: it's not throwing it short is not a product of
- 45:51Speaker 6: an offensive line. Right now, we just hadn't seen bad protection.
- 45:54Speaker 4: All right, more coming back your way. I remember two
- 45:57Speaker 4: OTV off the bench,
