- 0:33SPEAKER_00: So here on Thanksgiving Day, we writers have a lot to be thankful for.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: So I thought it would be fun to consider five specific things that each of us can be thankful for today.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Number one is the opportunities that you have today.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: There are more opportunities for writers than ever before.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: You have access to virtually everyone on the planet who has an internet connection.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: You can self-publish or you can go with traditional or hybrid publishing.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: You can blog, you can podcast, you can create video, and much more.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: The opportunities to get your message out there are virtually endless.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Number two, be thankful for the people in your life who support your writing.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: You know, sometimes we're so focused on our goals that we forget about the people who make our writing possible.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Think about the family, friends, or the colleagues who have supported you and helped you along the way.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Number three, be thankful for the incredible tools at your disposal.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Think about how much harder it was 50 or 100 years ago to connect with people and simply to get your writing done.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Now, today you don't even have to type.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can use voice to text.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: We don't realize how good we have it living here in the year 2022 with all the amazing technology and tools that we have as writers.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Number four, be thankful for the amazing stories all around you.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: You know, this is the golden age of storytelling where there are so many great books, great movies, and streaming TV shows and other formats of stories being told.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: There is inspiration all around you and you don't have to look very far.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And finally, number five, be thankful for the access you have to so much learning.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Never before in the history of the world have you been able to learn in so many ways, in so many places from so many people.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: It's really an embarrassment of riches.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Whatever you want to learn, somebody is teaching it somewhere.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Well, these are just a few of the things that we can be grateful for as writers.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: So I hope that you'll take a few moments today as you gather around the dinner table to acknowledge that we indeed live in an incredible time and we have so much to be thankful for.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question which of the five items that I listed in this episode are you most thankful for?
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I'll see you tomorrow.
