- 0:00you get to unpack that one later oh coming up
- 0:03and it has done nothing but terrorize me since
- 0:06the deck yes this is a haunted deck of tarot
- 0:12cards welcome to our podcast where we take deep
- 0:14dives looking at various topics through a paranormal
- 0:17lens all right welcome back to uh paranormal
- 0:22lens we got a little professional pants on today
- 0:24uh because we have a guest uh Our very first
- 0:29guest. First guest. Brie, who is this? So for
- 0:34our very first guest ever, we have Lindsay. And
- 0:39she is a very close friend and practically family
- 0:44at this point. And we had a phenomenal idea.
- 0:49Do you want to explain the idea before I finish
- 0:52introducing Lindsay? Sure. Yeah. So we had this
- 0:56idea. Because, you know, we've done 50 of these
- 0:58episodes and it was a running joke when we plowed
- 1:02through 50 fast topics. So essentially we've
- 1:05done 100 topics at this point. Will we run out
- 1:07of ideas? And I was like, no, never. So we had
- 1:09the idea just to kind of lean into that a little
- 1:12bit. What if we came in without a topic? And
- 1:15then Angela was like, what do you mean? I mean,
- 1:18she never knows a topic, but she was like, what
- 1:19do you mean no topic? My idea was, what if we
- 1:24let tarot pick a topic? So this is a tarot topic.
- 1:26We actually have no idea what we're going to
- 1:28talk about. Clean slate. We're going to do a
- 1:30quick tarot poll. The idea initially was for
- 1:34us to pull it, but we're not like professional.
- 1:36We don't really, we have a tarot deck. It's not
- 1:38a complete deck though. And, you know, we don't
- 1:41really know all the ins and outs of all the symbols.
- 1:44I do like using tarot to kind of frame narratives
- 1:47and kind of the storytelling aspects, but I couldn't
- 1:49tell you every detail on them. So Bree had the
- 1:52idea to bring the professional tarot reader to
- 1:55do our tarot topic. Professional is a very kind
- 1:59word. thank you you know more than us so that's
- 2:02and i really like the way that you do tarot so
- 2:06i was like you know who would be perfect for
- 2:10this and would probably jump at the opportunity
- 2:13you know me too well because i did jump at the
- 2:18opportunity and i am honored to be your first
- 2:20guest we have done phone readings in the past
- 2:23um mainly around certain projects like the possession
- 2:27tape we did a whole little phone reading that
- 2:29was fun um so this isn't our first when you said
- 2:33phone reading i was i was thinking like you know
- 2:35how people can call and pay over the phone readings
- 2:39that's kind of what i thought don't tell me you
- 2:42hired an etsy witch for this no hate no hate
- 2:48to etsy witches love them side note i did one
- 2:51time in college um I was on Fiverr, you know,
- 2:55the website Fiverr, where you can, like, just
- 2:58digital whatever services. I was on there for
- 3:01something else, and I saw a little pop -up for
- 3:03a $5 psychic reading from, like, Czechoslovakia
- 3:09or something. So I paid for one before going
- 3:12on an investigation, asking specific questions
- 3:15about the investigation we were about to go on,
- 3:16and then, you know, a few days passed, and I
- 3:18compared it. Boy, it was so... it wasn't even
- 3:23bad to the point it was like the opposite i was
- 3:25just like what what is this so no i i haven't
- 3:28done that's the closest but i haven't i wouldn't
- 3:30pay over the phone well uh lucky for you you
- 3:34get my services for free today i'm just here
- 3:36have fun well but i i believe that like it's
- 3:41the person has a lot to do with it like you gotta
- 3:44trust a person you gotta have good energy and
- 3:46rapport with the person that's gonna make for
- 3:47a better reading so like it's less of a paying
- 3:50money thing and more of like a stranger type
- 3:53of thing at least for me i don't know yeah have
- 3:55you found that like the vibe and energy and the
- 3:57the people can affect the the readings oh absolutely
- 4:02the thing about tarot that i find really interesting
- 4:05is it You can have the same reading for 10 different
- 4:07people and every one of those people is going
- 4:10to have a different interpretation of what the
- 4:12cards mean. You could put somebody in front of
- 4:14me that I have never met before. And if I spend
- 4:16even like five, 10 minutes with them and just
- 4:19kind of like, you know, if you vibe with the
- 4:20person, if you feel good with the person, I typically
- 4:23find it pretty easy to narrow in on whatever
- 4:26it is that, you know, the person is insecure
- 4:29about or worried about, or just kind of has at
- 4:31the forefront of their mind. And it's easier,
- 4:35obviously, for more intuitive people. But the
- 4:38different connections with the different people
- 4:40will make for a different reading every single
- 4:41time. And I think that's, like, my favorite part
- 4:43about tarot. Yeah. And one of the reasons why
- 4:48I'm also like, hey, we need Lindsay on board
- 4:51with this is because, like I said, I love the
- 4:54way that you do read tarot because I have had
- 4:57other people do it for me or I have seen other
- 5:01people do it. I have never had as much of like,
- 5:07oh, wow, actually, hey, that makes sense as I
- 5:12have with you. I mean, there does, reading for
- 5:17somebody you know does tend to, like you tend
- 5:23to read with a little bit of a bias. Yeah. In
- 5:25a way. But the first time that we read tarot
- 5:28together, I really didn't know you. all that
- 5:30well and I was very insecure with like my situation
- 5:33and where I was living and the things that were
- 5:35going on in my own life and those did kind of
- 5:37like take precedence in my mind so to be able
- 5:40to still read for you I don't want to say essentially
- 5:43a stranger because we had spoken and like hung
- 5:45out quite a bit at this point but i didn't know
- 5:48you as deeply as i know you now and to still
- 5:50get that accurate of a reading and like to get
- 5:54that deep into things that were personal to you
- 5:56kind of gives gives you the chills a little bit
- 5:58you know it really makes you makes you want to
- 6:00believe yeah so um before we want to get into
- 6:05the tarot this is going to be the downfall of
- 6:08us just having like our friends and people we
- 6:10know on the podcast because did we even like
- 6:12introduce like what's your name what's your tarot
- 6:16well i introduced lindsey did you did you i can't
- 6:20remember it was very much in the beginning so
- 6:24the audience knows the audience knows her name
- 6:27is yes okay yes just watch you're gonna like
- 6:30we're gonna re -listen we're gonna be like wait
- 6:32no we never actually did introduce her because
- 6:36we you came on the zoom we were just chit -chatting
- 6:38you know before we recorded like hey lindsey
- 6:40hey lindsey it's just like did we say once we
- 6:43clicked record Okay, this is Lindsay. Let's pretend
- 6:46I gave no idea. I did get a brief introduction,
- 6:50but for the audience's sake, my name is Lindsay.
- 6:52I'm not a professional tarot reader, but I do
- 6:54hold to a pagan belief system, and a lot of tarot
- 6:59and oracle reading does come very naturally to
- 7:01me. So I am just very honored to be invited to
- 7:05come on Paranormal Lens today. Yay! So exciting.
- 7:10So why don't you tell us a little bit about the
- 7:14deck you're going to be reading from? So before
- 7:18we began recording, I did kind of give us a couple
- 7:24of options. I have a few card decks. I have...
- 7:28My tried and true, my best girlfriend, my Terra
- 7:31Soleil deck. You can actually find this creator
- 7:34on Etsy. She's amazing. And her cards are incredible
- 7:37and hand -drawn and not made by AI, which I feel
- 7:40like is very important in this day and age. I
- 7:43have read from this deck for years. This was
- 7:45my first deck. It was gifted to me. I love this
- 7:48deck very, very much. And I really love the artists
- 7:50that made them. This is my nice deck. I do, however,
- 7:55have a haunted. deck of tarot cards um this came
- 8:00from a pop -up thrift shop in salt lake city
- 8:03and for those who aren't familiar with the culture
- 8:06surrounding salt lake city it is very very religious
- 8:09um it's a very high concentration of mormons
- 8:12yes it is the mormon capital of the world um
- 8:16it is where all of the legends surrounding joseph
- 8:19smith um kind of originate from and like where
- 8:22they take a lot of precedence and where a lot
- 8:25of those historical events take place. And so
- 8:30finding this tarot deck was an experience in
- 8:35and of itself because trying to find spiritual
- 8:38things in the Mormon capital of the world can
- 8:40be a little bit tricky because unfortunately,
- 8:42historically, religious people don't really like
- 8:45tarot and they don't really like the occult and
- 8:48they don't really like divination and things
- 8:50like that. But I walked into the most insane
- 8:55pop -up thrift shop you have ever seen in your
- 8:57entire life. I am talking bits and bobs and trinkets
- 9:03and garbage from floor to ceiling. You had to
- 9:06wade through. You had to like avoid knocking
- 9:08crystal glasses and stuff over. Those are the
- 9:11best kinds of thrift shops. It was the best,
- 9:13except the vibes were rancid when you walked
- 9:16in. I went with my ex's sister. Chelsea, if you're
- 9:27watching this, I love you. She will recount this
- 9:30story with me. You walk in, it just felt wrong,
- 9:32but we were like, you know what? We love a thrift
- 9:35store. We're going to check it out anyway. And
- 9:37it was one of those stores where you could walk
- 9:39all the way around the back and then back up
- 9:42to the front. But they had a section in the center
- 9:47that was dedicated to all things occult. Oh.
- 9:50They had a lot of stuff there that I'm sure many
- 9:55cultures would not have appreciated having in
- 9:58the store. Like having taken by people not from
- 10:03those cultures. It's unfortunate that. happens
- 10:08a lot in these types of stores but yeah and especially
- 10:11in salt lake city where i feel like there is
- 10:14almost the need to like compensate for that kind
- 10:16of thing um this i swear to you was sitting on
- 10:22the shelf completely by itself it had nothing
- 10:25else around it it wasn't sitting up on a bookshelf
- 10:26it wasn't like propped up it literally was just
- 10:28like sitting out like nothing wanted to be around
- 10:31it And I was like, oh, this is a really cool
- 10:34tarot card deck. You know, it kind of has very
- 10:36similar vibes to like the classic Rider Waite
- 10:39set that you see all the time. When you think
- 10:41tarot cards, you think of that typical artwork.
- 10:44And I carried it with me throughout like the
- 10:47rest of our shopping experience. And I didn't
- 10:49purchase anything else. I handed it over to the
- 10:54cashier when I purchased it. And I looked up
- 10:56and there was a giant license plate. The biggest
- 10:59license plate in there with the red number 666
- 11:01right over the top of his head as I purchased
- 11:03this tarot card deck. Interesting. And it has
- 11:06done nothing but terrorize me since. The deck?
- 11:11Yes. If this is my nice deck, this is my homegirl,
- 11:15this is my bestie, this is her evil twin. And
- 11:18she deserves jail time. Like the readings you
- 11:20do? Yeah, like the readings you do or like the
- 11:23deck itself? The deck itself has jumped off of
- 11:27my shelf a couple of times and spilled itself
- 11:29all over the floor. You can see this doesn't
- 11:34like it's not attached really and so this will
- 11:37just fall off and cards will fall out of it.
- 11:40It has also given me very contradictory readings
- 11:43and I will do a reading with my nice deck and
- 11:48then get a very similar reading from this mean
- 11:51deck except it it like it wants to argue with
- 11:56the first deck so it's very contradictory it's
- 11:59very blunt it's very like straight to the point
- 12:01that's not to say that i haven't gotten some
- 12:03good usage out of it and some really good readings
- 12:05but she's mean she's really mean so i figured
- 12:10we'd break her out today because she doesn't
- 12:12get as much screen time as my other and that
- 12:14and your other deck said that yes yes and that
- 12:18is really important i was shuffling to show the
- 12:20artwork before we began and we did get the um
- 12:23six of cups in reverse which um kind of leans
- 12:27into like gifts and unexpected information and
- 12:31things like that and so we kind of gleaned from
- 12:33that that um She wants her evil twin sister to
- 12:38be read today. So here we are. That's hilarious
- 12:40that they have like an ongoing conversation with
- 12:42each other. They do. Yeah, that deck's a bitch.
- 12:46Yes. Am I? Okay. Maybe they need a bitchy reading
- 12:49today. Exactly. And when I do readings for people,
- 12:52I do warn them. I'm like, do you want the nice
- 12:54card deck or do you want the mean card deck?
- 12:57And you'd be surprised at how many people actually
- 12:59do pick the mean readings. People like to be
- 13:01told what is up. I'd be curious though. Honestly.
- 13:06Well, you'll get to see what she has to say today.
- 13:08Yeah. Let's dive in. All right. This was your
- 13:14idea, Bri. Don't sound... I know. I was being
- 13:16sarcastic in like a joking sense, but yeah. Okay.
- 13:21Anyways. I don't believe I have read from this
- 13:23deck for Brianna. I believe there was somebody
- 13:26from your past, though, that I did read from
- 13:28this deck. Oh, really? Yes. And we can talk about
- 13:32that off camera. Or maybe on camera with codes.
- 13:38I think it's probably a conversation for off
- 13:42camera, but it is still a very interesting thing.
- 13:48I'm not recalling much about the reading itself,
- 13:50but we'll go over that. We'll go over that after.
- 13:52If we're ready to read, we can see. yes what
- 13:56our deck has to say today so yeah what does she
- 13:59have to say what does she have to say and the
- 14:02thing is i don't know if it's the card or if
- 14:04it's the universe that's speaking to us but either
- 14:06way i get the feeling she's gonna say something
- 14:08so we'll see and the way i like to kind of read
- 14:13is a little bit of like a chaotic reading i just
- 14:15kind of chuck them into my hands and whatever
- 14:17like falls out that's not like half the deck
- 14:21is kind of what she wants to say and so sometimes
- 14:23it means one card sometimes it means four so
- 14:26it's kind of hard to say for sure like you'll
- 14:29know if it's just me like being butterfinger
- 14:32or if it wants to actually like pop out because
- 14:34it will fly oh like that whoa we just got two
- 14:37they will fly right out at me okay so today and
- 14:42weirdly enough they are both upright So we don't
- 14:45have any reverse readings today. I am so sorry
- 14:47about that glare. I don't know. It's all good.
- 14:49Most people listen anyway. So it's the five people
- 14:52on YouTube can deal with a little glare, right?
- 14:55You can see 95 % of it. That's more than. Yes.
- 15:01And I'm going to read it out anyway. So it's
- 15:04fine. It's all good. So the two suits that we
- 15:08did end up with, we have cups and swords. And
- 15:13I lied. This one is in reverse. I can't read.
- 15:16So the first one that we got, we did get the
- 15:19Ace of Cups. I think this is my deck making fun
- 15:24of me. because I just called her mean, because
- 15:27this is typically a card about intentions. And
- 15:31with it being upright, it's typically good. So
- 15:33like good intentions, a good mood, having like
- 15:37a good relationship with somebody. So in the
- 15:39matter of like a relationship, it's typically
- 15:41someone you're in good standing with or things
- 15:42like that. So I think this card is her making
- 15:45fun of me. So we're going to, I'm sorry I called
- 15:47you mean. You are mean though. and you know what's
- 15:51funny is this is also um the ace of cups does
- 15:53also um deal a lot in like religion um and so
- 15:58for people who have um like religious trauma
- 16:01that's a really good card and a really good indication
- 16:04for people like that that they're on the right
- 16:05path um oh where did brie go i'm here sorry hang
- 16:10on okay i don't i don't know what happened well
- 16:13she just said like people with religious trauma
- 16:15never disappears i accidentally hit my power
- 16:21button instead of my volume button i thought
- 16:24i was getting too personal already you're like
- 16:25stop man bye so next we kind of move into um
- 16:34a not so nice card and this is where i think
- 16:38um this deck is kind of like holding true to
- 16:41the things that i know about her um because we
- 16:44look at the three of swords in reverse um and
- 16:48it is kind of about like confusion and like grief
- 16:57and misunderstanding and uh like like loneliness
- 17:01and being lonely so if i had to guess at what
- 17:06this What it kind of wants to talk about today,
- 17:09if we put the two of these together, is the way,
- 17:11and you know, it's so funny that I was just talking
- 17:14about the religious Mormon center of Salt Lake
- 17:18City. And then we bring up a card that talks
- 17:21about religious trauma and one that talks about
- 17:23like loneliness and confusion and grief and misunderstanding.
- 17:27So I'm going to guess that our tarot deck would
- 17:30like to talk a little bit about how being in
- 17:37like surrounded by a religion that you are not
- 17:40a part of or a religion that maybe is like forced
- 17:42upon you, how that can affect the way you view
- 17:47the world. And if we want to like bring that
- 17:50around into like the way it ties into the paranormal,
- 17:52the things that you see and the things you experience
- 17:54on a day -to -day basis that a non -religious
- 17:57person might see and believe and know like to
- 18:00be true for themselves like when we talk about
- 18:02like hallucinations or um you know like bad dreams
- 18:06or um even like like auditory hallucinations
- 18:10or like you know seeing people out of the corner
- 18:12of your eye and you want to believe that those
- 18:13are like spirits or ghosts the way like a religious
- 18:18upbringing or something like that can kind of
- 18:20dampen like a paranormal experience and kind
- 18:23of lend the person who's experiencing it to ignore
- 18:29the paranormal and kind of like use it to wipe
- 18:33paranormal away and brush it under the rug yeah
- 18:38that's interesting and even relating it back
- 18:41to like the deck itself like it was found alone
- 18:44even though it was in the occult section maybe
- 18:47it was just kind of the people coming by were
- 18:49kind of getting the same sense of a vibe and
- 18:51instead of leaning in like hey Maybe there's
- 18:54an entity wanting to speak. Maybe it's a good,
- 18:56I mean, we found with haunted objects we brought
- 18:58in, a lot of them have good vibes, good intentions.
- 19:01They just, you know, either something about it
- 19:03is broken or needs to be repaired and they're
- 19:05calling out, not in an aggressive way, but like,
- 19:07hey, you know, especially with like the music
- 19:09items, like we have some haunted music boxes
- 19:11that the actual mechanism is broken. So it'll
- 19:15be haunted and just call out like, hey. you know
- 19:18listen i'm trying to say something not as an
- 19:19aggressive way but everyone's passing me by because
- 19:21they feel a vibe i'm just trying to say fix me
- 19:23maybe it was calling out in that way and uh um
- 19:28you know just kind of got ignored and ignored
- 19:31and what does that do to a spirit or an entity
- 19:33if they're constantly being ignored because all
- 19:35this uh kind of i don't want to say persecution
- 19:38but kind of like i understand what you mean though
- 19:42almost like the like the pressure and i mean
- 19:44i know that People who aren't like of any sort
- 19:47of faith who live in like religious centers like
- 19:49that kind of do feel that like oppression, that
- 19:51like silencing almost. I mean, Brie, you found
- 19:57the Hana music box I was talking about. Can you
- 20:00think for a second, what if instead of just like
- 20:02a random music box in an antique store that just
- 20:05so happened to have a vibe and activity around
- 20:07it, what if that was put in a box with occult
- 20:10symbols on it in the middle of a occult section?
- 20:14in the religious store would that only imagine
- 20:17would that affect you buying it at all a hundred
- 20:21percent but also at the time also at the time
- 20:26i wasn't buying the music box for me so maybe
- 20:29it wouldn't have i was buying the music box for
- 20:32somebody else and then i ended up keeping it
- 20:34because i was too invested in fixing it what
- 20:40does that say about you as a person Oh, I'm getting
- 20:43really into the tarot reading. I'm so sorry.
- 20:46We don't have to do therapy right now. I was
- 20:51like, ooh, therapy. I'm like, excuse me, ma 'am.
- 20:54I slipped. I'm sorry. She just texted me. This
- 20:58is the last time Lindsay's on the podcast. That's
- 21:00crazy. You can't keep me out. Angela needs more
- 21:05therapy than you do. to bring it back to like
- 21:11the tarot deck though i do feel like it is worth
- 21:13mentioning that though i call this my mean tarot
- 21:15deck it's almost like mean the same way regina
- 21:17george was mean um she's she's a mean girl she's
- 21:21like she's got mean girl energy not that it's
- 21:22like an evil spirit or like a bad entity like
- 21:25anything like that it's more just like nobody
- 21:27wants to hear what she has to say because she's
- 21:28right and she's rude about it so i feel like
- 21:32it is worth making that distinction because she
- 21:34has definitely oh we did get another card from
- 21:37her for the record since we're talking about
- 21:39her and it is uh cups in reverse uh this is the
- 21:43nine of cups in reverse um i'm sorry i called
- 21:46you mean i love you she's the one that got hit
- 21:48by a bus right the tarot deck didn't but regina
- 21:52george did a tarot deck ever get hit by anything
- 21:56though i don't know i don't know i just know
- 22:00that this she came from a traumatized background
- 22:06i guess i it is also worth mentioning that she
- 22:10uh was in original packaging when i got it oh
- 22:14okay so it had never been open had never been
- 22:16used so that mark about loneliness i think you
- 22:19might be right on the money with that and this
- 22:21also was published in 2008 and i got it in probably
- 22:242019 2020 ish no actually it might have been
- 22:30a little bit further than that It would have
- 22:33been either 20 or 21. So from 2008 to 2021, it
- 22:38had never been used. That's crazy. So the Ten
- 22:42of Cups in reverse, the keywords that come with
- 22:43this are family quarrel, irritation, and sorrow.
- 22:48Well, family quarrel, see if there's religious
- 22:51trauma that's going to be within the family.
- 22:53Yeah, without a doubt. So definitely wants to
- 22:58touch on the heavy stuff today. Like I said,
- 23:00it really doesn't cut corners. She really does
- 23:02not like to beat around the bush. Wow. I mean,
- 23:08sorrow comes from loneliness, too. I'm Captain
- 23:12Obvious today. Look at you. Look at you. You're
- 23:16on a roll. You did all the hard work. I mean,
- 23:22like I said, the beautiful thing about tarot
- 23:24is being able to, like, take your own interpretation
- 23:28away from it you know and whether that be the
- 23:30obvious one or the less obvious one it's personal
- 23:32and that's she's this one's very personal right
- 23:36to the heart I'll say yeah but um I am I'm I'm
- 23:42feeling so I I feel like Angela and I may be
- 23:47feeling more in tune with these specific cards
- 23:51with our upbringing in being raised in heavily
- 23:56religious backgrounds and not exactly having
- 24:01parents who like what we're doing yes like you
- 24:06see what I mean about tarot is it's vague in
- 24:09a way but the more you pull in the more you read
- 24:11it does kind of like strike true to like a like
- 24:17a on a like a personal note for the for the people
- 24:22around it so whereas that doesn't really ring
- 24:24true for me um I definitely came into this with
- 24:27like okay put I would like to you know put this
- 24:28energy out toward the audience or you know like
- 24:32anyone who resonates with it or anybody that
- 24:34like I'm in direct contact with and being in
- 24:36direct contact with you guys I think I don't
- 24:40think that one was for me I think that one was
- 24:42for you guys so have fun with that you get to
- 24:48unpack that one later yeah but i just want to
- 24:51say real quick before i move on um in some early
- 24:55episode i still remember this brie you were talking
- 24:58with angela about how like you know your if not
- 25:03your parents you know family members uh people
- 25:06within the religious communities you're in say
- 25:09that ghost hunting what we do is a sin and then
- 25:12i asked you angela i said do you think ghost
- 25:14hunting is a sin and you said no and i asked
- 25:16you brie brie do you think ghost hunting is a
- 25:19sin what we do is a sin and you refuse to answer
- 25:21me i so do you technically technically in the
- 25:30catholic religion yes it is but do you think
- 25:34it is do you think you have to agree with every
- 25:36ideology ideology i mean being that i do in fact
- 25:42Do ghost hunting. Does that make you less of
- 25:46a Catholic? I don't think so. Do you think so?
- 25:49I also don't think so. I don't think so either.
- 25:52Cause like I still participate and go to mass
- 25:55and go to church and do the readings and do the
- 25:58like participate, but I don't a hundred percent
- 26:04agree with everything. So yeah. And I think it's
- 26:08like a really important distinction because many
- 26:12religions would also argue that my belief systems
- 26:14and the things that I do are not like of God
- 26:17and that there is sin. But I also like, I think
- 26:20it's really important to note that though my
- 26:22partner is also of Catholic belief, we have found
- 26:29a lot of common ground with our belief systems
- 26:32and paganism does directly. like descend, or
- 26:38I guess it like Christian religions are a direct
- 26:40descendant of paganism. And like a lot of the
- 26:44like modern Christian belief systems are built
- 26:48on pagan. Around. Yes, absolutely. And my partner
- 26:52and I have found a lot of common ground because
- 26:55the things that I am reflecting upon and like
- 27:00internalizing that come from like tarot readings
- 27:02and like my other practices and things like that
- 27:04are the same. beliefs that he has and at the
- 27:08end of the day of the relationship that you have
- 27:10with your spirituality or your god or your gods
- 27:13or you know whatever it is you believe it is
- 27:15deeply deeply personal and just because it comes
- 27:19in the form of laminated pieces of paper or a
- 27:24church pew it doesn't mean that those values
- 27:26need to conflict with each other yeah absolutely
- 27:31i think this also speaks to it's funny because
- 27:36This is our first, you know, we wanted to do
- 27:37like, you know, every now and then, like a tarot
- 27:41topic. You know, what's the tarot, you know,
- 27:43today? If we run out of steam of topic generations
- 27:46or, you know, if we just want to, if we just
- 27:48have the idea to do it. I'm always available.
- 27:49Yeah, we just had the idea to do it this time.
- 27:51You know, we're not slowing down or stopping
- 27:53or running out of any ideas, so don't panic,
- 27:55people. We got a lot more juice in us, but we
- 27:58just wanted to do it this time as kind of just
- 28:00a proof of concept. I wanted to touch on in this
- 28:04first Tarot one, because people, like you even
- 28:07alluded to, Lindsay, for some reason, even if,
- 28:11like, because I love using Tarot, like I said,
- 28:14as, like, storytelling, as, like, narrative arcs.
- 28:17Like, if it's a good way, a three -car Tarot
- 28:20poll is a great way to frame. a story you know
- 28:22you if you want to lean into like some of the
- 28:24symbols and metaphors so like i'll sprinkle some
- 28:26tarot you know visuals or metaphors you know
- 28:30or archetypes throughout films for some reason
- 28:32even if it has nothing to do with anything woo
- 28:34woo or occult or tarot specific is just a paranormal
- 28:37video uh people still think it's it's evil just
- 28:41because you put a a photo of like the fool card
- 28:45in something yeah even though you're not saying
- 28:47anything so I mean, this is kind of tapping in.
- 28:51I want to discuss, like, is tarot evil? Do we
- 28:54think it's evil? Is us discussing or engaging
- 28:57in a tarot reading... We're going to get people
- 29:01in the comments saying, like, I didn't need to
- 29:04listen to a tarot reading. Why are you engaging
- 29:05in evil practices like that? You know what I
- 29:09mean? so yeah but anyone who's listening to like
- 29:11a paranormal podcast that comes on to comment
- 29:14and complain about a tarot reading like you're
- 29:17barking up the wrong tree my friend you know
- 29:20that even within paranormal people are on board
- 29:24with like you can talk to spirits but as soon
- 29:27as you pull out a tarot deck That is a cult activity.
- 29:32I do have an entire tangent to talk about the
- 29:36history of tarot and why it is that way. It would
- 29:39push this podcast much, much longer than I think
- 29:42we have time for today. But it's definitely something
- 29:45that I can like go over with you guys. But I
- 29:46mean, the long and short of it is that historically,
- 29:49because tarot was something that was done during
- 29:54times of like political unrest and it was done.
- 29:58like the poor were doing it um women who were
- 30:01viewed as quote unquote witches in like 1440s
- 30:04italy um it was very prevalent during like the
- 30:11formation of a lot of like modern christian religions
- 30:15and so there's i could go into a whole deep dive
- 30:18about like why but it's it's like in our dna
- 30:20to be wary of it because it's an intrinsic fear
- 30:27for a lot of people who hold belief systems outside
- 30:30of anything regarding tarot. So it's, it's like
- 30:33people who are afraid of snakes. It's that intrinsic
- 30:35fear, you know, you can't really shake. I've
- 30:38definitely had this conversation with you guys
- 30:41and Lindsay and like, just about tarot in general
- 30:45and be like, because of that, like that stigma
- 30:48and everything, but the way that I view tarot
- 30:51and how I feel like you guys kind of view tarot
- 30:54is it really. isn't it one of the things that
- 30:58it makes turns people off and why it's said to
- 31:01be sinful and all that is because it's used as
- 31:05like a it's a divination deck like that is one
- 31:09word that it's used for and that's not something
- 31:11that the church wants you to do you shouldn't
- 31:15be divining the future anyways but we see it
- 31:19or i see it as it's less of a divination tool
- 31:24It is more of a psychological awareness for yourself.
- 31:31Self -reflection and introspection. The cards
- 31:34mean something, but it's like you have said and
- 31:37what we've all said, it's our interpretation
- 31:40of those cards that puts the meaning into it.
- 31:44And it's more of a self -reflection and just
- 31:46like, oh, yeah, I guess I didn't realize that
- 31:49about myself. Oh. yeah i guess i guess that is
- 31:53true maybe i do need to reflect on that and think
- 31:55about that more so i mean i don't feel like it
- 32:00actually is divining anything no because i have
- 32:04predicted the birth of a baby i have predicted
- 32:07a pregnancy and the birth of a child using tarot
- 32:10cards though so but maybe that's just me being
- 32:12an intuitive person i don't know but also there's
- 32:15this one time i got tarot reading and it was
- 32:21weirdly like the reader was saying things that
- 32:25were so connected like so relate that was relating
- 32:29to my life i'm like and then this she was saying
- 32:33things and then day after these same things were
- 32:36happening like and i'm like that that should
- 32:38it was crazy like i like i agree with what you're
- 32:43saying brie but sometimes i feel like there's
- 32:45a little bit more to it too at times yeah That's
- 32:48fair. Maybe I just haven't had that experience.
- 32:52I go to tarot for the archetypes and the art
- 32:56and the symbol that they repeat. Nothing in tarot
- 32:59card that you get out of it is exclusive to tarot.
- 33:02It's just a really cool way to combine imagery
- 33:04and meanings in a way that taps into something
- 33:10bigger. I find it funny. I was going to bring
- 33:13that up because you know people are going to
- 33:15say or think uh not a majority but you know a
- 33:18few might think there's quite a few out there
- 33:21yeah that we're going down a dark path by integrating
- 33:23tarot into the podcast now or be careful with
- 33:27the the woo woo you guys are witches but i wanted
- 33:32to bring that up you know just in this first
- 33:34tarot one but i think the tarot reading today
- 33:37kind of was you know alluding to some of that
- 33:42as well or kind of and a good introduction a
- 33:44good introduction of like it kind of framed i
- 33:47didn't have to like force the topic on it like
- 33:50it kind of set it up of like hey you know um
- 33:54this is a context in which we are doing or we
- 33:58like to read tarot um and the more yeah actually
- 34:02that kind of perfectly set it up what the heck
- 34:04because like again to brie's point i don't i've
- 34:08never used tarot as like we're gonna use these
- 34:11cards to conjure or do some divination or witchy
- 34:16stuff. I'm not painting a mirror black and dripping
- 34:19lamb's blood over everything. I mean, we could.
- 34:24Do we want to? Whoa, whoa, whoa. The full moon
- 34:28already passed. You have to wait at least a month.
- 34:31The only mirrors with tarot are the mirrors they
- 34:35reveal into your soul. Exactly. I see you clip
- 34:41farming over there. Hey, you know. You can't
- 34:47fool me. No, I can't. I think maybe she's not
- 34:53so mean after all. I think I may have misjudged
- 34:55her. She's just lonely. Watch, next time you
- 34:58read from her, she's going to call you a bitch.
- 35:00I know, she's going to read me to filth. I think
- 35:04her name is officially Regina, though. I love
- 35:08that. With what we've been doing so far on the
- 35:15podcast, she doesn't give the vibe of being mean.
- 35:17She's just brutally honest. Very brutally honest.
- 35:21She's that friend in your life that tells you
- 35:23what you don't want to hear. Yes, ma 'am. The
- 35:30next guest we have on the pod should be someone
- 35:33actually mean, though. is it i don't have a twin
- 35:38sister it's good we gotta have a mix of good
- 35:41and evil um well anything else or should we uh
- 35:45throw out the uh that was a good intro to yeah
- 35:48i feel like that pretty well she understood the
- 35:53assignment i'm proud of her yay she did a good
- 35:56job thank you regina make her a name tag and
- 36:00it's gonna be pink it's like those barbie ouija
- 36:04boards you ever see those the barbie oh yes i
- 36:08want to get one from um five five below one of
- 36:12those pink ouija board ones that'd be funny oh
- 36:17that'd be hilarious hanging on your wall with
- 36:20your haunted one yeah are hold on haunted aren't
- 36:25they all haunted No. Well, that's a good question.
- 36:29It's like what you said about the tarot. It's
- 36:31like, is it a board or is it just the tool? Is
- 36:36it just temporarily the voice to what wants to
- 36:39speak? That's a good question, but one for another
- 36:42day. Another topic. Write that down. Write that
- 36:47down. I mean, I think Regina understood the assignment.
- 36:56And I think this was a really good exercise for
- 37:00her as well. It's like walking your dog. You
- 37:02know, you got to take them out. They start to
- 37:03get restless. Please don't jump off my shelf
- 37:05tonight. No, she got her exercise. You got her
- 37:08walk in today. She's pooped. She's going to sleep.
- 37:13I didn't say enough. Oh, my God. And that has
- 37:17happened. That really has happened before. It
- 37:19is like. I have felt this like insane pull where
- 37:22it's like, I will do like a big reading and it's
- 37:25literally like the card is just like, just one
- 37:27more, just one more. And the deck will literally
- 37:29beg. It feels like it begs me to pull another
- 37:31one, but yeah, they definitely feel like they
- 37:36have a personality of their own. Now she's quiet
- 37:38now. She's really quiet now. Well, that's a good
- 37:44place. Bree, you, you introduced her. You brought
- 37:46her into this pod. Might as well bring her out.
- 37:50That came out weird. Yeah, I was going to say,
- 37:53I don't know what you mean by that. Thanks for
- 37:58listening to this week's episode of Paranormal
- 38:00Lens. If you liked what you heard, every five
- 38:02-star rating and positive review tells the algorithms
- 38:05we're a worthy podcast and pushes us out to more
- 38:08listeners. We appreciate each and every one of
- 38:11you, and we'll see you next Thursday for another
- 38:14paranormal deep dive.
