- Forged In The Dark: If something landed, don't just feel it. Act on it today before the spark fades. And if this show is adding something real to your life, put it in front of one more person who needs it. Remember, we always go forward and up. There's a certain kind of person that strangers open up to. And I just happened to be that person in the grocery store at the gas station airports. ⁓ my goodness. Sitting next to someone in a plane, ⁓ opening up my book, relaxing, minding my own business. Next thing I know, I am deep, deep in a long conversation with the person next to me. Whatever their situation is, whatever their struggles are, whatever their fears are, whatever the hardest thing they are currently facing that they have told no one about, they just opened up to a stranger on a plane. This is me, and it might be you too. Whether it's you or not, you are in the right place. I am so excited to be here. Welcome to Forged in the Dark. Let's dig in. Now I really am having a hard time containing my excitement because the challenges I faced in getting this podcast off the ground, you can't make up. ⁓ You really make up from having to upgrade my equipment to learning new software platforms, to facing ⁓ beliefs That me. re-recording this episode right here, multiple times. And each time I learned something different, ⁓ each I grew, each challenge ⁓ gave an opportunity to find a unique or ⁓ straightforward ⁓ When computer would not run the software, ⁓ I with it for two days. And the second, The second I discovered that it was my actual computer not being strong enough, I headed straight to the Apple store and took care of it. Decisive action. This podcast was going to happen no matter what obstacles or challenges arose because there is a higher calling behind this. There is a higher purpose behind this. There is. No way that I have been through the things that I have been through in my life, especially the things that no one saw that no one know that no one knew about, or no one knows about to this day. The reason I shine so bright in the light is because of all of the time I've spent in the dark. And I created this podcast for you. Because you are growing. You might even be growing and grieving and healing and building all at the same time. Because we all have invisible challenges. And I use the word invisible because they're challenges that no one else sees. One of the first things people say to me when I tell them that I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 24, they stand back and their eyes get big and they look at me and they say, but you don't look sick. You look so healthy. You look so good. Well, I look so good because of the way I take care of myself in private. I look so good and I'm so healthy because of the choices that I make that no one sees. The invisible battles that I face might not be the same invisible battles that you face, but I guarantee you, we are all facing them. the work that no one sees, the uncomfortable 4 a.m. alarm, the catching the negative thought and stopping it before it has a chance to spiral. Sitting down with yourself and having the reckoning. And that is the brutal truth where you really, really look at your life from every different direction. How can I get better? How can I get better? How can I get better? How can I get better? And I know this is you because you tell me whether it is in the grocery store or on Instagram, people reach out to me. They DM me. They share their issues. They share their struggles. They share their stories. So I know there are a lot of you out there that are doing all of the things you are meditating, praying, ⁓ making healthy food choices, drinking your water, moving your body. And some days you are on fire and some days you are the dumpster fire. And that's part of this. But in that it can get isolating and it can get lonely. And you might even feel a little bit crazy as you're catching those thoughts. Is this my thought or? Is this me? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, that thought has been there thousands of times. Stop, stop, stop, go away. Right? You know what I'm talking about because you are in it. You are doing the work that no one sees. Now, Whether you know me in real life or you followed New Soul Rising for a while or you are brand new to me, I have a light about me. Some people walk up to me and tell me what color my aura is. Some people walk up to me and say, I don't know what it is about you, but I'm just drawn in. I have this ability to walk into a room, whether it is at my kid's school. or stepping onto a stage and there is a light that radiates from me. There is an energy about me that is magnetic. This is not ego. This is not me being cocky. This is me knowing my gift. And let me tell you where this comes from because it comes from multiple places. It comes from the darkness. In my darkest times, facing the biggest challenges of my life, the hardest struggles I've ever been through, I was solo. And I say that I was solo because I used to say that I was alone. And now this version of me knows that I was never alone. I always had God. And we'll talk about faith a lot on this podcast. Faith is a big, big part of my life and it is a big part of the inner work. And I want to be very clear when I'm talking about faith, I don't care what religious practice that you use or that you believe in. I don't care if you lean more toward organized religion or spirituality. What I care about is that you believe in something bigger than yourself. But in these times of darkness that I faced, that I felt alone, I thought I was alone sitting on the bathroom floor crying, nobody there to hand me a tissue, nobody there to help me get up, I thought I was alone. And now I know that what actually made me finally stand up off that bathroom floor was the higher power nudging me silently all along. So, My light comes from a combination of being in the dark, like the real dark spot, and pulling myself out, and And the light shines so bright because of the private choices that I make, how I care for myself, what I feed myself, body, mind and soul. When I learned to control my inputs, ⁓ when I stopped to music that made me sad, when I stopped watching violent shows, when I stopped being around people that were a negative influence Everything in my life changed. That's a little part of it. It's, it's what I consume, how I move my body, what I eat, ⁓ all of it. And ⁓ I love. Love ⁓ is my ⁓ lead from open heart space. ⁓ I lead from place of love. So my light. comes from a combination of choices that I make when no one is watching, faith and love. But here's the thing that I have to get in to episode one. If you have ever known me, if you know me now, this show is a different version of me than you have ever known. I am not going to make you a lot of promises, but I promise to show up authentic. I am not using a script today and I'm not going to use scripts. I'm going to prepare for the episodes, ⁓ but I'm not going to off of a teleprompter. I'm going to speak to you from my heart and I am going to start dropping a lot of hard truths ⁓ on you. Truth that might seem harsh even when delivered with love. Because at the end of the day, it is you versus you. No one is coming to save you. And if you want a different life tomorrow, you must make different choices today. And you're here. That means you're doing the work, or I hope you are. Whether you are or not. Let this be your wake up call. ⁓ take what leave what doesn't, but I'm here ⁓ so that can reach ⁓ more people. I ⁓ that was driving through Chick-fil-A the other night ⁓ And ⁓ as I was ordering, I just a couldn't remember the kind of dressing that I wanted. And just that sparked a conversation between me and the guy that was taking my order about why we actually go blank in moments. And I said, hold on, hold on, hold on. I have your answer. I mean, I mean, it could be a combination of things, but you're asked a direct question. You know what you want, but the answer evades you. Well, your amygdala is firing too fast and your prefrontal cortex is catching up too slow. And this happens when you're uncertain. It happens other times too. But these are the real conversations that I'm having in the real world. And this is what I want to bring to you. So I want to leave you with... We've all been through hard things. This show is not focused on the hard things we've been through. It's about who we became because of them. It's about the things we practice that no one sees. It's about how you show up for yourself, how much you love yourself, how much you trust yourself. Because I can tell you, ⁓ I can't wait to get to the episode where I share my run journey. because It was running that has boosted my self-trust and self-confidence, confidence in general, more than anything else has in years. So it is about the private work that you do, the habits you hold when no one is watching. And I just looked up at the time and we're long today. So this is where I get to wrap it up. But this show is two, two short episodes. every week because I have learned the hard way. I've learned the hard way from losing opportunities to losing people to having to blow up my entire life and go diving head first into a completely new identity times. ⁓ if I can share my wisdom, maybe it will help you. not have to learn so many lessons the hard way. And maybe, just maybe, you won't feel so alone in your growth journey. Okay, that's where I'm going to leave it for today. ⁓ But this is episode one. Thank you so much for being here. If you have not subscribed please subscribe. And I can't wait to see you in the next episode.
