- 0:01Speaker 1: Jeffries. Jim Jeffries coming back to Australia in July. You
- 0:06Speaker 1: can go and see him.
- 0:07Speaker 2: For tickets, head to Jim Jeffries dot com. He's joining
- 0:11Speaker 2: us live on Zoom. Hello mates, Hey.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Jem, Hello, Thanks for having me, Thanks for having me.
- 0:16Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to going back to Australia. I'm leaving
- 0:18Speaker 3: it in like a week or something.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Very soon.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You're there for the World Cup though that like I
- 0:21Speaker 2: saw on the news the other night, though, I sold
- 0:24Speaker 2: all these crowds and then bang there was Tom Jeffries.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I was.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I went to the Turkey game and I went to
- 0:30Speaker 3: the USA game. The Turkey game was a lot of fun.
- 0:32Speaker 3: The USA game wasn't as much fun. I can't go
- 0:36Speaker 3: to the game against Paraguay as I'll be working that night.
- 0:40Speaker 3: But you know, look, I went to the World Cup
- 0:42Speaker 3: in two thousand and six, and I went to the
- 0:43Speaker 3: Women's World Cup when I was in Australia.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's my favorite thing to do is go to the
- 0:48Speaker 1: World Cup. I love it.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I'm to the Women's World Cup because we had a
- 0:52Speaker 4: producer here once who we sent to the World Cup
- 0:55Speaker 4: in Katar and he cried, I can't believe I'm going,
- 0:59Speaker 4: thanks so much. And then the Women's World Cup was
- 1:02Speaker 4: in Australia. He didn't even bother to go to one table.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Well, I will say this this is lightly when you
- 1:10Speaker 3: go to the Women's World Cup. Is it's like when
- 1:12Speaker 3: the crowd cheers, the frequency is a little higher because
- 1:14Speaker 3: there's a lot more women. Yeah, yeah, they're slightly higher,
- 1:19Speaker 3: but the vibe was the same. You know, I remember
- 1:23Speaker 3: seeing you know, Samantha Kurr warming up on the sideline
- 1:25Speaker 3: and people thinking she's coming on. She's been injured forever,
- 1:27Speaker 3: and people losing their s o over that, you know
- 1:30Speaker 3: what I mean. But you know, the World Cup here,
- 1:32Speaker 3: it's been brilliant. Actually, I thought it was going to
- 1:36Speaker 3: be a bit of a shit show because of you know,
- 1:39Speaker 3: ice agents and stuff like that and people look in
- 1:43Speaker 3: through immigration. But it's been really chill. What the first
- 1:46Speaker 3: game in Vancouver was wonderful. Look, Australia's got Vancouver, Seattle
- 1:50Speaker 3: and San Francisco and that's really North America at its best.
- 1:54Speaker 2: So we've got the good spots. Hey, you grew up
- 1:57Speaker 2: in Sydney, but then you started over in w A.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So let's talk real football. What do you follow like
- 2:02Speaker 2: Rugby League or AFL.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I follow rugby league Birth Bears. Now are you going
- 2:08Speaker 1: to follow them? Team?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Really not Sydney Bears Bears and I was part of
- 2:15Speaker 3: the movement to get the Bears back into the competition.
- 2:18Speaker 3: When I've been I've been fighting for this for twenty years.
- 2:21Speaker 3: This is all I've been wanting. What year they do
- 2:25Speaker 3: them more than that they're coming next year?
- 2:28Speaker 2: Okay, they go Perth finally have a rugby league team
- 2:31Speaker 2: and tell us.
- 2:31Speaker 1: You are in America.
- 2:32Speaker 3: They they had the Reds back in the day, but
- 2:35Speaker 3: super big Perth ready for a rugby league team. You know,
- 2:37Speaker 3: it's the only place you can fly straight from England,
- 2:39Speaker 3: you know, direct flight from England to Perth. So maybe
- 2:43Speaker 3: some there'll be some English expants that were too lazy
- 2:46Speaker 3: to move to Sydney.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Now we will pick up.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We touched on the fact that you're in America. You
- 2:50Speaker 2: talked about ice agents. How do you feel about what
- 2:53Speaker 2: what is America like at the moment?
- 2:55Speaker 3: The whole t I think the ice agents is a
- 2:58Speaker 3: bit of a I don't want to get too little
- 2:59Speaker 3: good with the ice age is a fairly look. I'm
- 3:03Speaker 3: a I'm a big believer in legal immigration. I don't
- 3:07Speaker 3: believe in illegal immigration. I'm fairly right wing on that.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I thought to get to live in this country, did
- 3:14Speaker 3: all the paperwork at all the time, paid all my taxes,
- 3:16Speaker 3: et cetera, et cetera. But I don't agree with what's
- 3:19Speaker 3: going on in the streets in America with the ICE
- 3:21Speaker 3: agents because it's very obvious that they're picking on a
- 3:24Speaker 3: certain type of person, and that's Mexicans.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's basic, Well, well this is this is the deal. Right.
- 3:31Speaker 3: So I know an Australian bloke who's out state, he's
- 3:34Speaker 3: visa right, who lives out here.
- 3:36Speaker 1: He isn't worried at all. I was walking, I was
- 3:39Speaker 1: walking down the street with him.
- 3:41Speaker 3: We will pass some ICE agents and he jokingly said,
- 3:43Speaker 3: do you need any help?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Boys?
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, So you can get from that what
- 3:52Speaker 3: you will, right, I'm yet to see a sweetish backpacks
- 3:55Speaker 3: and being dragged down the street going down the road.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Have you been following the rise of Pauline Hansen in
- 4:05Speaker 4: Australia at the moment she's now most preferred prime minister Pauline,
- 4:10Speaker 4: Well that's.
- 4:10Speaker 3: That says a lot about what you've got in government
- 4:12Speaker 3: right now. Pauline's most preferred I interviewed. I interviewed Pauline
- 4:16Speaker 3: for the Jim Jeffrey Show many many years ago. I
- 4:20Speaker 3: would say, I would say seven years ago now, I
- 4:23Speaker 3: actually I can see how she's gone got this bark
- 4:27Speaker 3: when you talk to a one on one. She's kind
- 4:29Speaker 3: of charming, as you know, as I'm sure Donald Trump is.
- 4:31Speaker 3: You don't get her in life without being charming. And
- 4:35Speaker 3: she went, come on, Jimmy, you don't name about it,
- 4:37Speaker 3: and she just felt like one of my aunties.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And I was like, I walked away and went, oh,
- 4:43Speaker 1: she's not that bad. I remember.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I remember I went and moved to England and in
- 4:47Speaker 3: that time she had didn't she go to prison for
- 4:50Speaker 3: a bit for someone electoral broad right? She'd been she
- 4:53Speaker 3: had been in prison. I came back to visit my
- 4:56Speaker 3: family of a Christmas or something like that, and Dancing
- 4:59Speaker 3: with the Stars or Strictly Come Dancing Musical in Australia
- 5:01Speaker 3: was on TV and Pauline was on the show and
- 5:04Speaker 3: my parents were cheering her on. I said, isn't she
- 5:07Speaker 3: meant horrible? Isn't she a terrible woman? And then my
- 5:12Speaker 3: mother went, but she can do a hell of a tango.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And then my dad.
- 5:16Speaker 3: She's got and she's got lovely legs, and people just
- 5:18Speaker 3: pick on her friend because she's from Queensland. That's what
- 5:21Speaker 3: my dad.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So that's why Australians are loving I hate more. With
- 5:25Speaker 1: Jim Jeffries coming up, hang around.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I want to talk a little about it, a little
- 5:28Speaker 2: bit about your comedy, and I want to see if
- 5:30Speaker 2: we can get the most inappropriate joke Jim has ever told.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You're down with that. You're not going to get the
- 5:37Speaker 1: not the radio. Why would you do that. Let's see
- 5:40Speaker 1: if we can get Jim canceled. We're a censor stand
- 5:44Speaker 1: by all right.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Jim Jeffries hanging with us. He's heading to Australia this July.
- 5:51Speaker 2: For tickets, head to Jim Jeffries dot com. Yeah, so, Jim,
- 5:55Speaker 2: your comedy to a son of a carpenter.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Is the name of it?
- 6:00Speaker 3: Are you?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Are you quite handy around the house? Can you fix
- 6:02Speaker 1: a lot of now? I'm I'm I'm hopeless that the name.
- 6:07Speaker 3: The reason it has got that name is because my
- 6:09Speaker 3: father is was a carpenter.
- 6:11Speaker 1: It's not Jesus, no way, no us. This is the
- 6:15Speaker 1: whole thing. There is a poster of me with angel
- 6:18Speaker 1: wings and everything.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I know that's a bit misleading. That's just the picture
- 6:20Speaker 3: of me being a doctor. So you know, are you
- 6:23Speaker 3: obviously not keeping it from Remember when Donald.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Trump was pictured as Jesus.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I'm using a reference that's from six weeks ago, moves fast.
- 6:33Speaker 1: With Donald Trump. Yeah, that's ay, tell us man.
- 6:36Speaker 2: So like I remember my mate one day he showed
- 6:39Speaker 2: me he goes You've got to see this Australian comedian
- 6:41Speaker 2: and it was a YouTube clip and it was the
- 6:44Speaker 2: most rogue ship ever, Like it was. I was like,
- 6:47Speaker 2: oh my god, this guy is hilarious. Could you give
- 6:50Speaker 2: us you know a joke that has gone too far?
- 6:56Speaker 3: I can't even swear joke that's gone to go on?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Give you is that one that got you in trouble? Okay? Okay?
- 7:05Speaker 1: Is there anything you've ever said online that's got you five?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Not five? And would you say it again for me
- 7:13Speaker 1: right now? Okay. I'm a game show host for Channel seven.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I remember that UK on Shuttle seven and I was like, okay,
- 7:21Speaker 2: has that been hard?
- 7:22Speaker 3: But the stand up shows still the same as the stuff,
- 7:25Speaker 3: but I do only two thousand It's not the.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Same material, but it's still the same level. Of it.
- 7:29Speaker 1: If you go see me live, you know what you're
- 7:31Speaker 1: going to get.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Is there anything, though, Is there a topic or anything
- 7:36Speaker 2: that is completely off limits for you or is it
- 7:38Speaker 2: just no?
- 7:39Speaker 3: For the most part, no, but the risk reward has
- 7:42Speaker 3: got to be there. So the more offensive the joke,
- 7:44Speaker 3: the bigger the laugh has to be otherwise it would
- 7:47Speaker 3: just look off color. In England, the only thing that
- 7:53Speaker 3: I sort of noticed, and I've spoken to a few
- 7:55Speaker 3: commanings are the only subject that.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Was truly.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You couldn't talk about with Hillsborough, the hills for a
- 8:03Speaker 3: disaster day if you made a joke about that.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Was that a train? No?
- 8:06Speaker 3: That was that was when the Liverpool supporters came and
- 8:09Speaker 3: they pushed all the fans up against the fence.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And a lot of people die. So you can't show
- 8:12Speaker 1: it up that tragedy. You couldn't. You got puns on
- 8:15Speaker 1: stage once, so didn't you?
- 8:17Speaker 3: Two thousand and six I got punches stage. It's been
- 8:20Speaker 3: twenty years. There was a person heckling and I did
- 8:26Speaker 3: about five or six ecod lines and the last line
- 8:29Speaker 3: I said, I think it was he It could have
- 8:32Speaker 3: been a hint and I said, I said, I'm going
- 8:35Speaker 3: to leave you alone now like your dad did, right,
- 8:37Speaker 3: which is an easy way to put a full stop
- 8:40Speaker 3: at the end of the argument.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And there was a guy, an Irish Blake, who was
- 8:45Speaker 3: in Manchester on a date with a woman. He finished
- 8:48Speaker 3: his drink, right, he thought about it because he hit
- 8:52Speaker 3: me five minutes later. I only found out later that's
- 8:54Speaker 3: what he was upset about when the police were questioning him.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And he ran on stage and I thought he just
- 8:58Speaker 3: didn't know where the bathroom was, and I was like, oh,
- 9:01Speaker 3: you're not allowed up here, mate, and then he just
- 9:03Speaker 3: he swung and it was kind of interesting because he
- 9:06Speaker 3: hit me and then I had like a little bit
- 9:08Speaker 3: of a bruise.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Of me face.
- 9:09Speaker 3: And I went back in the dressing room and Michael
- 9:12Speaker 3: McIntyre was the other act that was on that day,
- 9:15Speaker 3: and he heard me coming and so he was watching
- 9:18Speaker 3: the show on the screen. He turned it onto the snooker,
- 9:21Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like he turned it onto
- 9:23Speaker 3: it like you know how British people just watched.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Paul like a regular TV, like it's.
- 9:28Speaker 3: An actual event, right, So he turned it onto the
- 9:30Speaker 3: snooker and I walked in and he didn't turn her anywhere.
- 9:34Speaker 3: How did it go and I said, I said, not good, Michael,
- 9:37Speaker 3: I just got punched in the face and he goes,
- 9:40Speaker 3: no one can follow me.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's Michael Foy. Well good on your mate.
- 9:46Speaker 1: We can't wait your back here in July. It's all
- 9:49Speaker 1: sold out, I believe, but almost, which is epic. Good
- 9:53Speaker 1: on your mate.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Let's hope you don't get punched in the face again.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Jim Jeffrey, so good to have you on.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Thank you mate. A threat that one, a FA
