- 0:01Hello, welcome to He's Hot, But something's off with me.
- 0:03Just Joey TI literally just spent 30 minutes fiddling with
- 0:09the camera that I used to record the video version of the podcast
- 0:13followed by on YouTube and Spotify plug because I couldn't
- 0:18get the autofocus to work. I've got a slightly fancy camera
- 0:21that I bought for my YouTube stuff and I was filming a lot
- 0:25more YouTube stuff and it's the camera that I use whenever I am
- 0:30filming anything at home now. And yeah, the auto fix wasn't
- 0:33working and it was something stupid, so there you go.
- 0:36I've also been fighting with the audio for this podcast, I hope
- 0:39none of you have noticed, but when I go into in and do the
- 0:42editing on my computer with the audio, I've been having to fit
- 0:47it with it a lot. So I'm trying to do a bunch of
- 0:50different settings on this podcast Finger Magic that you
- 0:55see I have on my table right here.
- 0:59But anyways, how are y'all doing today?
- 1:01It's been pretty warm in Los Angeles.
- 1:04Well, it's not honestly that warm on the grand scheme of
- 1:08things. It was 90 today, and 90 is
- 1:11actually not that bad. I usually run cold, so when it's
- 1:18mid high 70s outside, if I'm not doing like exercise or running
- 1:22around or anything like that, that's actually like the ideal
- 1:25temperature for me. If it's not in the 80s, like I
- 1:29wouldn't want to go lay by the pool or I wouldn't want to go to
- 1:32the beach because, you know, but I'm just wearing a bathing suit.
- 1:35It just gets too cold. But it's nine today and it's
- 1:38actually a pretty pleasant, it's been fairly warm.
- 1:40We did have June gloom, which is pretty typical in Los Angeles
- 1:44where you get a cloudy start to the day and the temperatures are
- 1:49a little bit coldish relatively for June and Los Angeles, yeah.
- 1:55But now that we're well into July, almost August, it's been
- 1:59in the 80s pretty much every day for like the last few weeks.
- 2:03I think most of the US has been under some sort of heat warning
- 2:06or watch or whatever, but pretty seasonal for LA.
- 2:10The thing though, the only thing that makes the heat
- 2:14uncomfortable is the gym that I go to, the A/C has been broken
- 2:20since June, May, or June of last year and they actually have a
- 2:26giant sign like. Not kidding.
- 2:29They have a huge, giant sign that's like 2 feet by three feet
- 2:33that I saw today that they put right at the entrance.
- 2:36So like, the first thing you see when you walk through the door
- 2:39of the gym, she's this big, huge sign that's like propped up on
- 2:42like a stand. And it's the message that says
- 2:45the landlord has been working on the A/C since June 2022 and blah
- 2:51blah blah, something about permits, blah blah blah, they
- 2:53suck, blah blah blah. Like how can you be running a
- 2:57gym in a warm climate and not have the A/C working for like 14
- 3:04months, which is like ridiculous.
- 3:06The other thing about that is they had the audacity like two
- 3:12or three months after the A/C had broken down in like August
- 3:15or September last year. The A/C haven't broken for like
- 3:18a little while, and they raised everybody's membership fees
- 3:21because of inflation. It's like if your A/C doesn't
- 3:24even work at the gym at the height of summer, don't go
- 3:28raising everyone's like membership fee.
- 3:32When not everything in the gym even works properly.
- 3:35Which is ridiculous. It's still not working.
- 3:37They have these big huge industrial free standing A/C
- 3:41units, but at a few places in the gym that's actually been OK.
- 3:46It's 2 levels downstairs where all the aerobics, treadmill,
- 3:52that type of machine is. It's pretty cool down there.
- 3:57But upstairs today, I guess the A/C units that they brought in
- 4:02didn't quite do it because I remember leaving the gym and I'm
- 4:08usually upstairs where the A/C wasn't working that well today
- 4:11because all the weights and stuff is upstairs.
- 4:13Remember leaving the gym and when I walked outside it was the
- 4:18same temperature or maybe cooler than it was inside in the locker
- 4:23room or upstairs where all the weights are, which is like
- 4:26ridiculous. Like if you could just like why
- 4:28go into the gym when it's warmer to workout there?
- 4:31Why not just like workout outside in the shade where like
- 4:35you get a nice breeze and there was number breeze.
- 4:37Like they put man's in there, but like the fans only hit like
- 4:42certain areas and stuff. So like, it's kind of
- 4:44ridiculous. Like why pay nearly $100 a
- 4:48month? That's how expensive this gym
- 4:49is. It's not an Equinox I can't ever
- 4:52pay. Like I don't know what the cost
- 4:54for Equinoxes used for like 200 bucks that I think it's probably
- 4:56like 250 or something. Now I will not pay $250 for a
- 5:00gym if you do it that you do you.
- 5:03But for me, like I can't invest in that much money in the gym
- 5:07every single month. But I'm thinking when I was
- 5:09leaving the gym today, if they if they can't fix the A/C.
- 5:13Honest, it's been 14 months. I haven't fixed it.
- 5:16I should just go to a different gym.
- 5:17If I go to what is it, there's like another, I don't know, like
- 5:22LA Fitness or something. I think it's like half the
- 5:23price. It's probably like 40 or 50
- 5:25bucks a month with the 50 or $40 I save every month.
- 5:30I can use that to pay for like the gas and insurance and the
- 5:33wear and tear on my car to just drive to like a gym that's
- 5:36further away where the A/C probably works.
- 5:39Like it just works. So yeah, it was a little
- 5:43difficult today to work out because I was like all sweaty
- 5:47and everyone was sweaty. And like I mentioned before, you
- 5:50know, when I'm working out, I'm usually not in like the most
- 5:53jolliest of mood. You know, you're tired and
- 5:55everything. Yeah, so that wasn't fun for me
- 5:59today. Decent workout.
- 6:00But you know, like how can your gym have, how can the ACB broken
- 6:05for that long? Anyways, one thing I struggle
- 6:09with or just complete changing topics now.
- 6:12One thing I've struggled with, not just besides the heat at the
- 6:14gym, is acne. And I wanted to talk about this
- 6:19for a while because for like the last few weeks, for like a month
- 6:23now, I'd gone off dairy because I was watching a video on
- 6:28YouTube by a couple of like dermatologists and they said
- 6:34that there's research showing that whey protein, which is type
- 6:39A dairy protein causes has been shown to cause acne in some
- 6:44people. And as I work out so much, I
- 6:47take a lot of whey protein. Most protein powders you get are
- 6:50whey protein and I've had whey protein for like so many years.
- 6:56But with this news that hey, all this protein powder that I'm
- 6:59drinking, maybe that's what could be making my acne worse or
- 7:03causing it. I've decided to completely take
- 7:06out dairy from my diet for a while, just to see if it makes
- 7:12any difference to my acne, and I think my acne is mostly going
- 7:17away, I have to say mostly. And I have to put like a
- 7:20question mark on the end of that because I just realized
- 7:23yesterday that I had last week ate a protein bar, which I
- 7:30usually don't eat. But I was minusly just eating
- 7:35this protein bar. And it wasn't until yesterday
- 7:37that I remember, oh, there's like a ton of whey in that
- 7:40protein bar. That's how they make their
- 7:42protein bars. So yeah, I was buying this like,
- 7:47vegan protein powder because I still need to have some sort of
- 7:52protein shake for like, before I go to the gym or just a
- 7:55supplement. And protein.
- 7:57Vegan protein is kind of expensive.
- 8:01Like you can get whey protein anywhere for like pretty cheap.
- 8:04If you go to like the CVS or like a grocery store, you get
- 8:06like the vegan like pea or brown rice, whatever.
- 8:09Protein, That stuff is expensive.
- 8:11It comes in just like tiny little tub.
- 8:13But I found a place online that sells it in like bigger bags for
- 8:16like pretty much the same price as like the way that you can
- 8:19get. Yeah, and I also went off cheese
- 8:23as well. I don't usually eat a lot of
- 8:24cheese, but lately I've been really into making toasted bagel
- 8:30sandwiches home. So it will be like a multi grain
- 8:34everything bagel. And then I'll toast it and I'll
- 8:38throw a couple of slices of mozzarella cheese on top, let it
- 8:42melt and I'll put like slices of Turkey or beef or whatever.
- 8:46So I've been doing that for like a little while.
- 8:48So I got rid of all the cow milk as well.
- 8:51So I've got like almond milk and soy milk and oat milk and all
- 8:54that stuff now to like do my lattes with for my coffee or to
- 8:58eat cereal with or whatever. So I think my acne is actually,
- 9:04honestly getting better. I've struggled so much with acne
- 9:08and I'm like not 18 anymore. And yeah, so it's weird because
- 9:14I've seen a couple of different dermatologists about my acne
- 9:17before, one that I saw that I just found on Yelp because I
- 9:23didn't have like a reference or connection, anything supposedly
- 9:27really highly rated on Yelp. But like, let me tell you this
- 9:30bitch this back in San Francisco, but I don't remember
- 9:32who it is or like what exact office it was.
- 9:36But like she came in, she took like half a look at me and she
- 9:40kind of had like a semi camera response for like things I
- 9:44should do and not do. And it just felt very much like
- 9:48you didn't even really like, look at my face and you kind of
- 9:51sort of had me freak it out already.
- 9:54And that was the hunch that I had.
- 9:57And now looking back on it, honestly, the things that she
- 10:01told me to do would not have helped at all.
- 10:04So anyways, and then there's this dermatologist that I have
- 10:11been kind of going to here in Los Angeles mainly to get Botox.
- 10:15And we'll get into the Botox thing later.
- 10:18And one time when I went to get Botox and I just also mentioned
- 10:22like, oh, can you help take a look at my acne as well?
- 10:27And he's like, sure. So he prescribed me this
- 10:30retinol, which is like something I would want to use anyways.
- 10:33And it's like a really good one, actually.
- 10:36And I've been using that. Yeah.
- 10:38But for me, it's like I can be using all this like acne product
- 10:42stuff, you know, like it's like retinol or like benzoyl
- 10:46peroxide, all these things that you see like like on the
- 10:48drugstore shelf. That's what was before your
- 10:50acne. All these things you hear.
- 10:53And a lot of these are things that are recommended quote UN
- 10:55quote by doctors as well. But for me, my acne kind of sort
- 10:59of has no rhyme or rhythm. I've noticed, right?
- 11:03Like I could be using like all the stuff or I can be like using
- 11:06nothing and like I still break out, but I think it could be the
- 11:09dairy. That's it.
- 11:10Because I've been off it for four weeks now and my skin is
- 11:15significantly more clear. And it just means, you know, not
- 11:20drinking cow milk and not having cheese and not having, like, the
- 11:23whey protein. Like there are substitutes for
- 11:25those things that I found. And like I've not missed regular
- 11:29cow milk and I've not missed drinking the whey protein
- 11:32powder. Like the vegan stuff is like,
- 11:34it's just it's just like a protein shake.
- 11:36I just chug it, you know? It doesn't really make any
- 11:38difference to me. And I really don't eat cheese
- 11:41that much. To really miss the cheese I
- 11:43found at Trader Joe's. They make a vegan version of
- 11:47mozzarella and I've been using that in my bagel sandwiches and
- 11:51honestly, it tastes pretty good. So luckily for me, I'm not
- 11:57addicted to ice cream or cheese or things like that.
- 12:00So it's actually been painless to switch over to the vegan non
- 12:05dairy version of things except for that protein bar that need
- 12:08to throw away all those protein bars now.
- 12:10A reason you have a friend who I guess he just got board
- 12:14certified as a dermatologist and he actually works as a like
- 12:18fully licensed dermatologist down in Laguna Beach which is
- 12:24like hour and a half two hour drive or something like that
- 12:27from LA and actually want to like go to see him and like get
- 12:32his opinion. Like I will drive the two hours
- 12:35down to the OC to see a doctor that I actually know and
- 12:40therefore trust instead of like going to like some random quote,
- 12:45UN quote, highly rated doctor or whatever on Yelp.
- 12:50That's like down the block from me.
- 12:52So I made appointment with him in August.
- 12:56Yeah, so I'm gonna go down and get his take on that.
- 12:59I might need some Botox. Actually, on that issue with
- 13:01Botox, I did used to get Botox regularly every four months or
- 13:07so, starting in like 2018 or 2019, back when I was in San
- 13:13Francisco and when the pandemic kicked in.
- 13:18Obviously, like, no one was doing anything, but like, once I
- 13:21was able to, I think I got back on it.
- 13:24But since I decided to quit my day job in December, I was like,
- 13:29you know what? That's not really a necessary
- 13:32thing. So I stopped doing it.
- 13:34I'm not old enough to really have, like the deep lines on my
- 13:38forehead. So I stopped doing the Botox.
- 13:43And yeah, just one of the things that I cut, it was kind of sort
- 13:47of like a little bit of a luxury to have the Botox.
- 13:51The thing is, the Botox, the skin on your forehead.
- 13:56And that's where most people get it.
- 13:58When they start getting Botox, that skin is very, very thin and
- 14:02it hurts to get the Botox injected there.
- 14:05So when I first started, they offer you to do the numbing
- 14:09cream. That's how Botox works, right?
- 14:11It's just a needle of the Botox and they poke it into like, I
- 14:15guess where all the lines are. But usually most places will
- 14:18offer you a numbing cream that you put on like a moisturizer.
- 14:21You just put it onto the forehead and they let it sit for
- 14:25like 1520 minutes. It numbs your skin a little bit,
- 14:28not a ton. So that that Botox doesn't hurt
- 14:30so much. So when I first started, I was
- 14:32like, yes, give me the numbing cream.
- 14:35But near the end, like the last few times I've gone it, I was
- 14:38like, just go in there and just do it.
- 14:40Let's just get it over with and it's, you get it used to it like
- 14:43a little bit and it's like not that bad.
- 14:46But yeah, I haven't been getting the Botox since I don't have the
- 14:49day job. On the topic of the day job last
- 14:54week's episode, I categorically win a record on this podcast and
- 14:59said that I was ready to go back to a corporate nine to five job.
- 15:06Do you know what? I'm not.
- 15:09I'm just not. It's it's very it's very it's
- 15:14it's it's up in here in my brain is very up and down, in and out.
- 15:18What I say one minute could be completely false and wrong the
- 15:23next. I don't think I'm ready to go
- 15:27back to like the 9:00 to 5:00. I've been doing more research
- 15:31into like you know, some of the side hustles that I have that
- 15:35I'm working on and also more into like starting my own
- 15:39business. I think something that I've been
- 15:43working on the last week or so that seems to be helping is, and
- 15:48I mentioned this a little bit on last week's podcast, as well as
- 15:50not giving myself such a hard time for not having that
- 15:55stereotypical day job and not just making myself kind of feel
- 16:01bad in my head. It's all internal.
- 16:03So I've been like doing some things to get my mindset to be
- 16:09in a more optimistic, positive place.
- 16:11And also while I'm researching some of the things I'm doing for
- 16:14like this business, I'm trying to start also for the side
- 16:17hustles, just hearing other people's experiences, trying to
- 16:21do the same thing you're doing. For me, it was very much what I
- 16:25needed. It was basically being able to
- 16:28convince myself that hey, like other people have gone through
- 16:31it and this is how it went for them, and like they've been
- 16:35successful. I feel like I just need to be
- 16:39almost delusionally confident in myself to do something that up
- 16:44until now, I've cast it off as literally a side hustle.
- 16:48Like this is something you do on the side of a proper job, you
- 16:52know, and not something you should depend on for like any
- 16:54significant amounts of income. So I've kind of sort of turned
- 16:57that around for myself. And yeah, I don't, I just can't.
- 17:01Let's talk about, let's talk about corporate for a while.
- 17:05Like working in like a corporate Office 905.
- 17:08I did that for like 12 years. So been there, done that.
- 17:13Am I never gonna go back to the 905?
- 17:17Never say never. You know, like I mentioned last
- 17:20week, if like the right job was like the right kind of
- 17:22organization comes along, I'm not gonna just say no.
- 17:25I like, I'll probably look into it.
- 17:27The most annoying thing, what? One of the annoying things for
- 17:31me is having to like mix small talk with your office coworkers.
- 17:38My manager had every week a meeting with all of his directs,
- 17:42everybody that reported to him. He had a meeting for all of us
- 17:45like every Monday morning. By the way, don't schedule a
- 17:489:00 AM meeting or earlier with anyone on your team.
- 17:53And don't schedule a meeting beyond like 4:00 o'clock.
- 17:55Anyways, this meeting was like 9 M on a Monday, which sucks, but
- 18:00to kick off the meeting he always wanted to make everyone
- 18:05talk about what they did for the weekend.
- 18:07This was Monday morning. We can I just ended.
- 18:09So everyone is like oh I, my husband and our kids.
- 18:14We went to like the park and we like fished for ducks in the
- 18:20pond or whatever, or like, oh look, we're like we're
- 18:24renovating our house and we just picked like pink colors for the
- 18:29kitchen or the nursery or something.
- 18:31It comes around to me and I can't just tell them I was just,
- 18:35I just went to like three circuit parties with a bunch of
- 18:37like shirtless gay guys. Like, I can't say that.
- 18:40So every time they came to me, I was just like, I didn't, I
- 18:44didn't do that much, just had a relaxing weekend.
- 18:48I think when I first started that job I tried to like almost
- 18:53semi makeup some things or I just maybe just even mention
- 18:57some of the chores and errands and stuff that I did because my
- 19:02life is very different from that of like your stereotypical
- 19:06straight person. I am not picking colors for the
- 19:10nursery. I'm not going to the park with
- 19:14my kids. I am partying.
- 19:18And The thing is, everyone that was in that meeting, they were
- 19:23like family people. I think everyone had was like
- 19:27Mary, they're all straight and like, I think they all had kids,
- 19:30so everyone had that to bond over.
- 19:33But for me is like, I can't just say like, yeah, I was like
- 19:36sniffing poppers and like in an orgy for five people.
- 19:39Like I can't say that obviously in a meeting.
- 19:42So it was very kind of annoying for me and me when I was a when
- 19:47I'm a manager, I kind of make it a point not to ask about
- 19:51people's personal lives unless it was, like, needed for some
- 19:56business purpose. Even when people ask me for,
- 19:58like, vacation or time off, I'd be like, yeah, just go like, I
- 20:01don't care if you're taking the time off to like, film porn.
- 20:05I don't care if you're taking time off to like, do whatever,
- 20:08like do whatever you want on your time off is your time off.
- 20:11It's not my time off. I will approve it.
- 20:13You can just go. I'm never gonna ask questions
- 20:16about that. So that was like, one of the
- 20:17annoying things that this person did is like every Monday
- 20:21morning, he would spend like 10 minutes, we would go around,
- 20:26everyone would spend like two or three minutes talking about like
- 20:28the stably boring lives that they have.
- 20:31And I was just like, Oh my God, I'm going to kill myself.
- 20:33And if it got around to me, I was like, no, I didn't do
- 20:36anything. And then that was it.
- 20:39And then there was always like a short bit of silence after I
- 20:44eventually at the end, I just gave up.
- 20:45I was like, I didn't do anything.
- 20:47I was just, I showed at home. I just had to lie because I just
- 20:53couldn't tell them what I believe really did.
- 20:56Some weekends I'm just at home and not doing anything.
- 20:58But other weekends, it's like I can't tell you about the parties
- 21:01and the trips that I go to. It's not work appropriate HR, we
- 21:04get paged in here so fast. Yeah, but I've worked in
- 21:07corporate for 12 years and this is the first time that I think I
- 21:13had this issue. But this I've been.
- 21:16I've been gay my whole life and I've been going to parties and
- 21:20travel to all these events and stuff like that for several to 8
- 21:23years now. Just the first time that it's
- 21:25kind of been like annoying at the job I had before that all
- 21:29the other jobs I've had, it hasn't been a problem because I
- 21:32think most managers learn pretty quickly like, I like, especially
- 21:37nowadays, you know most managers kind of sort of they need to
- 21:41know that not everybody is like straight and is married with
- 21:47like a wife or husband and has kids and just do like that
- 21:52serial typical heteronormative type lifestyle.
- 21:56But yeah, that was a that was a meeting.
- 21:57I hate it And it was one of, but that wasn't the reason I quit
- 22:00the job by the way. They're like other reasons.
- 22:02I didn't like that manager. But yeah, so I don't think I'm
- 22:06ready for I I don't think I can go back to like the regular 905
- 22:12office, even though I was working remotely, like, you
- 22:14still have to do those meetings. I do like, you know, running a
- 22:18team and you know, setting the strategy for like, you know, the
- 22:22the work itself I like. But yeah, I think just having
- 22:26to, like basically be beholden to a corporation that honestly
- 22:32doesn't love you and they just want to make money, you know,
- 22:35like every for profit companies out there to make money.
- 22:39I talked about this before, but I don't think I'm ready for
- 22:42that. So yeah, when I go back to
- 22:45Vancouver next week to visit my family and my mom, my mom's
- 22:52gonna ask again like, oh like are you still, She's not shading
- 22:57me. And she's not.
- 22:59She's not asking it in like a in a way that like puts me down or
- 23:04anything. It's just, like, really
- 23:05innocent. You know?
- 23:08I went back in December of last year.
- 23:12This was right before I quit. And then I was.
- 23:14And then I told them I was like, oh, I'm going to quit my job.
- 23:18Every time that I've given my family updates on my job before,
- 23:20it's always been I got a promotion or I got a new job and
- 23:23I have a bigger paycheck. So this was the first time last
- 23:26December, where it was like, oh, I'm quitting my job because I
- 23:30don't want to be there anymore. And then I went back early this
- 23:35year and obviously they asked, I think in April I went back and
- 23:40then they, my mom asked, oh, like, have you found a job yet?
- 23:43And like, Nope, I'm still like, you know, doing whatever.
- 23:47So she's gonna ask, Obviously mom's would And then I'm just
- 23:50gonna be like, Nope. And I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna
- 23:53tell. I'm not gonna go back.
- 23:54I don't wanna worry her anything.
- 23:55But I'm like, Nope, I'm still unemployed.
- 23:57That's fine. Yeah, no, mom's pretty cool
- 24:01about it. Mom's surprisingly cool about
- 24:03it. I remember there was a distinct
- 24:06point in my teenage life where when I was younger, also when my
- 24:12brother and sister, they're older than me.
- 24:13But when as kids were a lot younger, mom was semi kind of
- 24:19tiger mom a little bit, at least in terms of like the discipline
- 24:23and like us not doing certain things that she didn't make us
- 24:27like take lots of extra curriculars.
- 24:28Like she doesn't give a shit about that.
- 24:31But there are like things that we just were not allowed to do.
- 24:36Like when we're really young, we were not allowed to cry if we
- 24:40were out and about in a restaurant.
- 24:43We're not allowed to run around the restaurant.
- 24:45We're not to cry in a restaurant.
- 24:47There are times where, like, you know, when you're a kid,
- 24:50sometimes you get upset, you cry or whatever.
- 24:52We're not allowed to cry out loud in the restaurant.
- 24:53We have to sit down. We can be sobbing.
- 24:56We had to like, sit and like not be like loud or make a bunch of
- 25:01noise if we were to be, like, upset.
- 25:03Mom, be sure of that. Yeah, she would get really upset
- 25:07at us if we like spill things or like if things were like left
- 25:12dirty and things like that. But I think it was when I was
- 25:16like 14 or 15 or something like that, that I think I was making
- 25:23a bunch of Bagel Bites. By the way, Bagel Bites are
- 25:25awesome. And I remember it was at night
- 25:29and I made a bunch of Bagel Bites in the kitchen and I was
- 25:32going to take them up to my room to eat them because that's what
- 25:36I did. And Mum didn't like it, but
- 25:39like, she like, didn't prevent me from doing it.
- 25:41I made a bunch of Bagel Bites. I put him onto a plate and I was
- 25:45like walking from the kitchen through the living room, which
- 25:47was carpet and like I tripped or something and like, it all fell.
- 25:51Obviously all the Bagel Bites fell upside down onto like, the
- 25:55light Gray carpet. And this is something that mom
- 26:00would usually get like very angry at one of us kids for.
- 26:03But for whatever reason, she was like, chill about it.
- 26:06So there was like there's like a particular age, like a
- 26:09particular kind of moments around that age where she just
- 26:13got like a lot more chill. And I think one time I asked her
- 26:16like, aren't you mad that I, like did this or whatever
- 26:19happened? And she's like, I think she's
- 26:22something like, well you guys are all grown up, like I'm not
- 26:24going to yell at you forever. So that really changed our
- 26:27relationship actually. And obviously now that we're all
- 26:31like full grown kids, like I'm in my 30s, my brother and
- 26:34sister, they're in their 40s. Sometimes we neg her.
- 26:39Now for example, we neg her about her diet, about her
- 26:43exercise. But she's pre diabetic.
- 26:46And so one time I went grocery shopping with her when I visited
- 26:50back in Vancouver and she tried to put potato chips into her
- 26:54basket and I was like, you're not buying potato chips if
- 26:57you're not gonna exercise and you're prediabetic.
- 26:59You can't have junk food, go snag on some nuts, almonds or
- 27:04fruit or something, but you can't have junk food.
- 27:08So yeah, so we're that real reversal.
- 27:11But like, yeah, she used to be really hard on us and now she's
- 27:14just like really chill, even for stuff that like, yeah, so me not
- 27:19having like a regular job. And as far as she's concerned,
- 27:22she thinks I have like no income right now.
- 27:24She's too traditional old school to, I think, really have a great
- 27:29concept of like a side hustle. I think she watched the news all
- 27:31the time. So I think she knows about the
- 27:33concept now, but obviously she doesn't know any of the side
- 27:36houses that I do. She just thinks like, I don't
- 27:38have a job. Yeah, so that's fun.
- 27:40The other thing that's kind of fun is whenever I visit my niece
- 27:43and nephew, they don't remember my name.
- 27:46So every time I visit and then my mom babysits for my for my
- 27:52sister. So, and it's summer right now,
- 27:54so I know that my mom is babysitting my niece and nephew
- 27:57most days during the week when my sister brother-in-law are at
- 28:01work. Uh, whenever I visit and they're
- 28:04there, um, my sister or my mom will ask my niece and nephew, oh
- 28:09like, uh what's uh what's your uncle's name?
- 28:12And then they'll basically have a blank stare.
- 28:15And then they'll look at my mom or my sister who will like,
- 28:19whisper the name to them. They'd be like, hello Uncle
- 28:22Joey. It's like that.
- 28:23It's been like that every time I visit it.
- 28:25And they're not that young anymore.
- 28:27I think they're four and eight, something like that.
- 28:31She need to be able to remember your uncle's name.
- 28:32Gonna have that many uncles, honestly.
- 28:34So like, every time I visit, I just made a call to my mom and I
- 28:38heard my niece in the back. And then my mom put my niece on
- 28:42the phone and then I asked my niece what's my name and she had
- 28:47like no response. And then I can hear my mom
- 28:50whispering my name to my niece. And then I yelled on the phone,
- 28:53mom, you're giving her my name, aren't you?
- 28:55And my mom said nothing. So they're cute.
- 28:58It's kind of fun to have like a niece and nephew to, like, hang
- 29:01out with for a little bit. That's all the kiss my sister is
- 29:05gonna have. It's also great for my mom
- 29:07because my mom loves babies and I think my sister having the two
- 29:13kids, it's taking the heat off of not just me, but also for my
- 29:19brother. My brother's also single.
- 29:22My mom loves babies and kids so much that after us three I had
- 29:27start going to school. When we were all in school, She,
- 29:31I think, babysat other people's kids for a while.
- 29:35So this is. I don't know.
- 29:36I don't. This was when I was like 6 or
- 29:39seven or something and I started going to school full time.
- 29:41Yeah, I think she babysat other people's kids for like a little
- 29:44while. She loves kids so much.
- 29:46I don't think she will admit it, though.
- 29:48She doesn't like admitting these types of things.
- 29:50Yeah, but my sister was supposed to have just like the one kid
- 29:53and the second kid was an accident.
- 29:55But I'm so glad that they're like the two kids to keep my mom
- 29:59busy and occupied and something for her to do.
- 30:01She complaints about babysitting the the two kids all the time,
- 30:05but I know she like, she really loves to babysit the kids, but
- 30:09like, she would never let on that she actually likes it.
- 30:12All right, the one thing I'm gonna end this.
- 30:15Oh my God, we didn't talk about RuPaul's Drag Race.
- 30:17Some star Season 8. The finale is over and Jimbo
- 30:22won. But like me and David for the
- 30:25finale, the only shocker that we had, we didn't have any
- 30:29shockers. Like, we were not at all
- 30:31surprised by like the last episode.
- 30:33The last episode was the most boring episode, like the finale
- 30:36where they just, like, announced the winners.
- 30:38It's actually the most boring episode.
- 30:39Like, I was like dozing off watching that episode because I
- 30:45knew like it all due respect to Candy, like it could have went
- 30:49either way. But like me and David, we kind
- 30:52of both were pretty sure that Jimbo was going to win and Jim
- 30:55we did win. So, like, that was not a
- 30:57surprise for us at all. And then it wasn't a surprise to
- 31:00us that Lala Ree won the Fame games because she was top to the
- 31:07previous episode and she was going to get 3X as many points
- 31:10and Jim didn't get 2X. When you get 3X more points than
- 31:13anyone else and no one has that advantage, like obviously the
- 31:16odds are very, very skewed against you.
- 31:18Yeah, but that's it for me. Talking about RuPaul's direct
- 31:22ways, some star season eight. Since the season is not over, in
- 31:25place of that Formula One season is really heating up.
- 31:29I know they're not that many Formula One fans out there, but
- 31:31I love to watch Formula One and keep up on it.
- 31:34So I've been watching that a lot.
- 31:36But what's also going to keep me a little more occupied?
- 31:39Some travel that that coming up. So like I said, I'm going to go
- 31:42to Vancouver next week to visit family and then I have booked to
- 31:48go to Chicago for market days, which I went to a few years
- 31:53before and I really love Chicago and atmosphere there during
- 31:58market days. I just booked that and then I
- 32:00also just recently booked to go at the Atlantis Mediterranean
- 32:04cruise that sales at the end of August into September.
- 32:07It's gonna be a 10 day cruise. It's gonna be a longer one, just
- 32:10booked that as well. So I do have some travel coming
- 32:13up that I'm really excited to go on.
- 32:15I'm excited more than ever about the side hustles that I'm doing
- 32:21and yeah, the the the starting my own business that's a little
- 32:26slower than I thought. The one thing I'm trying to do
- 32:29that I think I'm blocked on is come up with like good names for
- 32:32my products. I went like really fun, kind of
- 32:35memorable cheek and tongue names, but I'm just not the
- 32:38Super creative types. I'm really been tapping David
- 32:42Lamb, for example, to help me come up with some names was he's
- 32:44like so excellent coming at puns and jokes and kind of funny
- 32:48names and things like that. All right.
- 32:50And with that we will wrap up another episode of the podcast.
- 32:53We will see you next week. Bye.
