- 0:21Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:25Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:29Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Wednesday, June eleventh,
- 0:35Speaker 1: two thy twenty five. Gen Z is at it again. Everyone,
- 0:43Speaker 1: brace yourselves. College students are using no contact orders to
- 0:52Speaker 1: block each other in real life. The notice of no
- 0:58Speaker 1: contact order landed in May's inbox February fifteenth, twenty twenty two.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It was stern and lawyerly and contained a bulleted list
- 1:06Speaker 1: of prohibited behaviors between May, then a two Lane freshman,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and her former roommate. No approaching each other at any time,
- 1:13Speaker 1: no communicating through third parties, no social media interactions whatsoever.
- 1:19Speaker 1: The directive, which came from two Lane's Division of Student Affairs,
- 1:21Speaker 1: was based on the right of every two Lane community
- 1:24Speaker 1: member to avoid contact with another community member if such
- 1:28Speaker 1: contact may be harmful or detrimental. Though the measure was
- 1:33Speaker 1: reportedly nondisciplinary, it ended on an ominous note a violation
- 1:38Speaker 1: of disorder could result in an immediate interim suspension and
- 1:42Speaker 1: against conduct charges to you. Okay, May thought a no
- 1:50Speaker 1: contact order. The campus version of a restraining order was
- 1:54Speaker 1: for cases of sexual misconduct. Could she be in serious trouble?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Mat requested the order? Had their disagreement?
- 2:05Speaker 2: Are they still roommates? Because that I think everybody violates
- 2:11Speaker 2: that order then form a roommate.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Okay, but again it's this is they don't know what
- 2:17Speaker 3: to do with conflict in real life. Yeah, they it
- 2:21Speaker 3: absolutely it. It makes them just fall apart because oh no, no,
- 2:28Speaker 3: my my ex or daughter when she went to a
- 2:30Speaker 3: charter school here, you couldn't.
- 2:33Speaker 2: You couldn't. There was no bullying, there was no conflict whatever.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Everything's recorded and if somebody said something disparaging to another student,
- 2:40Speaker 2: they were taken into another room h and a student
- 2:44Speaker 2: mediator and a teacher were in the room and they
- 2:48Speaker 2: had to talk it out before they could go back
- 2:49Speaker 2: to wherever they were going. And they would have to
- 2:51Speaker 2: resolve like why did you say that, what's going on
- 2:54Speaker 2: at home? Why would you say? Why would you isolate
- 2:56Speaker 2: this person? Like? And that that was how they kind
- 3:01Speaker 2: of that was their conflict resolution. They didn't do it themselves.
- 3:04Speaker 2: There were people that intervened, and so now you're off
- 3:06Speaker 2: in college and there's nobody there and you have to
- 3:09Speaker 2: do it Yourself's and they can't. That's exactly what you're saying.
- 3:12Speaker 2: They can't. They can't do it because there's nobody there
- 3:15Speaker 2: to help. I would like a no contact order with
- 3:17Speaker 2: all of gen Z. Where do I file? Because I
- 3:21Speaker 2: would like to not have any contact with any of them?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Ever, I was hoping this no contact order was something
- 3:27Speaker 1: you could put in your door dash. So not only
- 3:30Speaker 1: do I get a cheeseburger, but also they tell my roommate,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I don't want to talk to you anymore.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You might be onto something. He used to be called
- 3:38Speaker 2: a process server, but now we'll just give it an
- 3:42Speaker 2: app and a fun name. We'll just have to find
- 3:46Speaker 2: a really cool name for it, and all the gen
- 3:48Speaker 2: Z kids will love it. And yeah, you can just
- 3:50Speaker 2: show up and hand somebody papers. The race is why.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Like so.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Some of the bigger restaurants company now they have an
- 4:02Speaker 3: HR department, which, if you've ever worked in a restaurant,
- 4:04Speaker 3: the concept of an HR department is mind boggling because
- 4:09Speaker 3: especially I mean just the kitchen staff alone, that that
- 4:13Speaker 3: that is not a HR friendly PC place to be. Yes,
- 4:20Speaker 3: and they literally if if this happened to a friend
- 4:23Speaker 3: of mine and she is jen, she's on the kind
- 4:29Speaker 3: of the borderline between gen X and millennial. But you
- 4:33Speaker 3: can't even you know, you have to have someone with
- 4:36Speaker 3: you to go, hey, you've been late five days in
- 4:40Speaker 3: a row. We need you to correct that problem because
- 4:43Speaker 3: if not, then you're gonna they're gonna go to HR
- 4:46Speaker 3: and go, well they were mean to me.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah, hostal work environment, uh huh.
- 4:52Speaker 3: And then when the gen Z people are becoming managers,
- 4:55Speaker 3: they're completely ineffective because then they have to go and
- 4:59Speaker 3: have these conversations and they don't. They don't know what
- 5:01Speaker 3: to do. They've never had real where we used to
- 5:05Speaker 3: just get in a fight. They don't have that. If
- 5:09Speaker 3: it's if if they're face to face, they don't know
- 5:11Speaker 3: what to do.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's what I was. I think it was
- 5:15Speaker 2: Google that did the story on this, where like gen
- 5:20Speaker 2: Z they're the worst employees because they don't they don't
- 5:23Speaker 2: know what authority is. So like they look at their bosses,
- 5:25Speaker 2: their buddy. I think I've talked about this before. It's like, hey,
- 5:28Speaker 2: where are those you know we had a deadline. Where
- 5:29Speaker 2: are those reports that I needed on Friday?
- 5:32Speaker 3: Oh?
- 5:32Speaker 2: You know, I didn't get to them because they don't Hey,
- 5:34Speaker 2: it's my buddy, he's gonna be cool with it, like
- 5:36Speaker 2: I was busy. And then when they get fired. The
- 5:39Speaker 2: suicide rate that is going up for gen Z employees
- 5:44Speaker 2: that when they get fired kill themselves because it's such
- 5:47Speaker 2: a direct like they think that that attack was directly
- 5:50Speaker 2: on them and not their behavior at work. It's them
- 5:53Speaker 2: as a person, not like you didn't turn into reports,
- 5:55Speaker 2: you're a terrible person, and they can't deal with that.
- 5:59Speaker 3: They there was a study where they don't the concept
- 6:03Speaker 3: of deadlines and like promptness. Being on time they think
- 6:09Speaker 3: is a very fluid thing. They have no concept of
- 6:13Speaker 3: hard deadlines.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You cannot equate time with your gender identity at the
- 6:18Speaker 1: same time, like one of these things needs to be concrete.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Pick one. You can't be both. Look, you could be
- 6:24Speaker 1: a dude but beyond time. You can say you're a girl,
- 6:26Speaker 1: but beyond time, or you can never be on time
- 6:29Speaker 1: and then you can be whatever you feel like that day.
- 6:31Speaker 2: On the other side, Yeah, I'd like my pronouns to
- 6:33Speaker 2: be I'm late, Like that's what it would be like,
- 6:36Speaker 2: not on time, Like that's what my pronoun should be Like,
- 6:41Speaker 2: that'd be fantastic. Jesus.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, a no contact order through the school to then
- 6:49Speaker 1: be delivered to the roommate.
- 6:52Speaker 2: That is yeah wow. And I feel bad for the
- 6:56Speaker 2: school because I mean they're relying on tuitions, they're relying
- 6:59Speaker 2: on you know, enrollment, so they have to appeal and
- 7:04Speaker 2: it's I'm sure it sucks for them, but they have
- 7:06Speaker 2: to appease that rule where it's like, Okay, well they're
- 7:08Speaker 2: gonna leave that, we'll lose that that revenue because I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 2: at the end of the day, a college is still
- 7:12Speaker 2: a business and they have to have people spending money.
- 7:16Speaker 3: First off, tu Lane is a private school, and you know,
- 7:19Speaker 3: if they fought, they are fostering that environment and it's
- 7:21Speaker 3: gonna come back and bite them in the ass. They
- 7:22Speaker 3: should be like that, that's not I mean, this is
- 7:25Speaker 3: the whole problem of appeasement. This we got to this
- 7:28Speaker 3: place in society because of appeasement. Instead of saying no, no,
- 7:33Speaker 3: you you can't have it both ways. You have to
- 7:36Speaker 3: do you pick one. You can't change, you can't you
- 7:42Speaker 3: there there are some things you just you can't do.
- 7:45Speaker 3: The word no, the word no, and you go, hey, no,
- 7:50Speaker 3: we're not getting in the middle of y'all squabble, you know,
- 7:52Speaker 3: because what happened, what happens when they you know, Tu
- 7:56Speaker 3: Lanes right outside of New Orleans. I mean, so if
- 7:58Speaker 3: they're on Bourbon Street at the same time, did someone
- 8:01Speaker 3: violate the order? I mean, it's yeah, it's insane.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I'm I'm fine if they want to do some new
- 8:09Speaker 1: inventive ways for conflict resolution, because evidence suggests that just
- 8:14Speaker 1: beating the crap out of the kids like we were
- 8:16Speaker 1: didn't exactly have the result they were hoping. Now they've
- 8:20Speaker 1: kind of overcorrected. But if you want to have the
- 8:22Speaker 1: kids sit down and hammer it out verbally and emotionally
- 8:26Speaker 1: while being directed by an adult expert, fine, But also
- 8:30Speaker 1: while you're doing that, teach them how to do it
- 8:33Speaker 1: for themselves as well as opposed to constantly relying on
- 8:38Speaker 1: an adult in the room, because one of these days
- 8:40Speaker 1: they're technically going to be adults like these college kids,
- 8:43Speaker 1: and they're gonna have to live life on their own.
- 8:45Speaker 2: See try. I think you're missing out on an opportunity here,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and I need you to go to the guy that
- 8:48Speaker 2: owns three coin and go to him in a new
- 8:52Speaker 2: division for bare knuckle boxing. Like you have your heavyweights,
- 8:56Speaker 2: your welter weights, your bantam weights, now you can have
- 8:59Speaker 2: the no content students and how they resolve their dispute
- 9:04Speaker 2: is get in the ring, fight it out.
- 9:07Speaker 1: That's interesting.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I like it. You know from two lane she has
- 9:11Speaker 2: a you know, a zero to two record or whatever
- 9:15Speaker 2: it is. She uh has a dispute with the challenger
- 9:18Speaker 2: and then fight.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Or there's just a job opportunity here for Trade to
- 9:25Speaker 1: be gen Z's enforcer. He can just be for higher
- 9:29Speaker 1: and he'll just handle your conflict resolution for you because
- 9:32Speaker 1: Trade loves yelling at kids.

- 11:12Speaker 1: Daniel Malley along with Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today
- 11:14Speaker 1: is Wednesday, June eleventh, twenty twenty five. We don't typically
- 11:19Speaker 1: focus on travel news or airline news, but I'm actually
- 11:24Speaker 1: kind of reconsidering it because there's been some really dumb
- 11:28Speaker 1: stuff happening in the skies lately and on the ground,
- 11:31Speaker 1: and I'm going to share those with you right now.
- 11:36Speaker 1: We mentioned earlier how gen z is doing no contact
- 11:39Speaker 1: orders at colleges, so they can, you know, separate from
- 11:43Speaker 1: their roommate through paperwork through the school. I thought it
- 11:48Speaker 1: was something that they could just do with the door
- 11:49Speaker 1: Dash delivery. That's not right. But door Dash and Chicago's
- 11:56Speaker 1: O'Hair Airport kind of collided the other day. We'll not collided,
- 12:01Speaker 1: but they're in the same space at the same time.
- 12:02Speaker 1: They're not supposed to. A lost door Dash driver ended
- 12:05Speaker 1: up on the tarmac at Chicago's o Hair Airport. And
- 12:10Speaker 1: when I mean i'm the tarmac, I don't mean like
- 12:12Speaker 1: just kind of wandering around on the fringes like the
- 12:14Speaker 1: bus and speed No, I mean like pulling up in
- 12:18Speaker 1: the lanes next to delta jets being loaded for flight.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Just like did anybody order a taco?
- 12:28Speaker 2: I would love at that moment somebody's like, yep, right here,
- 12:30Speaker 2: thank you so much. Bonus, these guys are great. We
- 12:36Speaker 2: want to talk about.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I mean, hell, in some places you can't get the
- 12:44Speaker 1: door Dash drivers show up. So I mean at least
- 12:47Speaker 1: this person's going all out, going right through the airport
- 12:49Speaker 1: trying to try and deliver that bag of food.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I'm not even sure which where to go. I mean,
- 12:56Speaker 3: obviously the airport. How have we gotten that lax of
- 13:01Speaker 3: security that you know, anyone can just drive on the tarmac.
- 13:04Speaker 3: And then, on the other hand, if you're the door
- 13:05Speaker 3: dash driver, don't you think a runway is a bad
- 13:09Speaker 3: place to be.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a whole lot of stupid going on in
- 13:14Speaker 1: this story.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I just like he pulls up to the gate, like
- 13:21Speaker 2: the security guards. There's like, I have a delivery, and
- 13:24Speaker 2: that guy goes, yeah, Terminal three.
- 13:29Speaker 1: All that stupidity aside, because Tray, You're right, it's a
- 13:31Speaker 1: massive security concern that a door dash driver was able
- 13:34Speaker 1: to just wander onto the freaking tarmac at one of
- 13:37Speaker 1: the busiest airports in the world. It's also stunningly stupid
- 13:43Speaker 1: how the driver didn't stop to think that, you know,
- 13:46Speaker 1: this doesn't seem right. This is not a normal door
- 13:50Speaker 1: dash delivery. All that being said, I've been on the
- 13:54Speaker 1: raw end of Google Maps on bake cation. A handful
- 14:00Speaker 1: of years ago. My wife and I were on the
- 14:03Speaker 1: US Virgin Island Saint Croix, and we were going we
- 14:07Speaker 1: were done on Saint Croix. We were going back to
- 14:09Speaker 1: the airport and trying to bring our car hang out.
- 14:12Speaker 3: I guess.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Bless you, Bless you again, bless you.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Anyway, So we're trying to return our rental car to
- 14:27Speaker 1: the to the avas at the Saint Croix Airport, and
- 14:30Speaker 1: we're using the Google Maps on our phones to give
- 14:33Speaker 1: us directions to the airport right to drop off the car.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Technically the directions worked. It got us to the airport.
- 14:42Speaker 1: The problem is it got us on the north side
- 14:44Speaker 1: of the airport, next to the tarmac, not anywhere near
- 14:47Speaker 1: the terminals or the avs.
- 14:51Speaker 3: If you're on an island, I can understand how how
- 14:56Speaker 3: Google Maps may not be exact and that happens. I
- 15:00Speaker 3: I feel quite sure Chicago's pretty well mapped out.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I would hope so.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, But you know how, like in those apps, like
- 15:08Speaker 2: you can say, like in any like map app, you
- 15:10Speaker 2: can say, I don't want the toe ways. I don't
- 15:12Speaker 2: want you know, maybe it's like I want to avoid
- 15:14Speaker 2: gang violence and Chicago Chicago rerouting was like, all right,
- 15:21Speaker 2: you're gonna have to go through the airport.
- 15:24Speaker 1: There's just no other way. Sorry.
- 15:26Speaker 2: We calculated all the possible routes.
- 15:28Speaker 1: This is the only one, and we're still not sure.
- 15:30Speaker 3: But it actually catch a flight out of Chicago.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Why is my pizza in Kentucky.
- 15:46Speaker 6: You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us online that Treehouse
- 15:50Speaker 6: on air dot com.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Let's get Daniel Cook from Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration
- 15:57Speaker 1: into the Treehouse. Their number for your roof inspection eight
- 16:01Speaker 1: three three Cook DFW, the website COOKDFW dot com. The
- 16:05Speaker 1: RMS Treehouse Listeners Foundation exists to help the families of
- 16:08Speaker 1: fallen DFW police officers and firefighters killed in the line
- 16:12Speaker 1: of duty. And we've been very fortunate over the years
- 16:15Speaker 1: to partner with some outstanding companies wanting to help. And
- 16:19Speaker 1: today we get to add Cook DFW's name to that
- 16:22Speaker 1: list of excellent sponsors to the foundation because Daniel, you
- 16:26Speaker 1: and your wife Carrie have said, you know what, we
- 16:27Speaker 1: love our community and we want to do something to
- 16:29Speaker 1: give back to our first responders in DFW.
- 16:32Speaker 7: Right, Dan, That's absolutely correct, and you know, truth be known,
- 16:36Speaker 7: Carrie has given to the foundation for quite so many years.
- 16:40Speaker 7: But now at a company level, I think we are
- 16:43Speaker 7: wanting to definitely, you know, beefed up and start giving
- 16:47Speaker 7: back to the foundation. And it's unfortunately, this is a
- 16:51Speaker 7: foundation nobody wants to have to donate to, but it's
- 16:54Speaker 7: the real world is that these things do happen, and
- 16:57Speaker 7: it's it's it's the type of foundation that you know
- 17:00Speaker 7: one around, but you definitely want it to be, you know,
- 17:02Speaker 7: available to the families that need it. And so over
- 17:05Speaker 7: the next couple of months, you know, a portion of
- 17:08Speaker 7: all the proceeds from the work done from Treehouse listeners
- 17:12Speaker 7: that call in and let us know that they heard
- 17:13Speaker 7: about you on the show, we're going to be donating
- 17:16Speaker 7: to the RMS tree House Listeners Foundation and making sure
- 17:19Speaker 7: that we can keep that very stable in the accounting
- 17:23Speaker 7: side and have funds available that when the families need it,
- 17:27Speaker 7: it's going to be there. So we're very fortunate to
- 17:30Speaker 7: be a part of the organization and we look forward
- 17:33Speaker 7: to try and assist and help it as much as
- 17:35Speaker 7: we can.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Not only a company that cares about you as a client,
- 17:38Speaker 1: but Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration also cares about its
- 17:41Speaker 1: first responders in our communities. So give them a call
- 17:44Speaker 1: for your roofing and restoration needs. Eight three three Cook

- 18:41Speaker 1: about the door Dash delivery driver that got lost trying
- 18:44Speaker 1: to deliver a bag of food. And by lost, I
- 18:47Speaker 1: mean I guess he was routed. Like whatever the app
- 18:51Speaker 1: was that was giving him directions to the delivery, the
- 18:55Speaker 1: app gave him directions right through the Chicago O'Hare airport.
- 19:02Speaker 1: You're right, there are stipulations you can put in there
- 19:04Speaker 1: as far as delivery notes and things. So Rogers, I
- 19:06Speaker 1: think you.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Like, you know, you want to. I'm sure the app
- 19:10Speaker 2: was like, okay, here you're where you're delivering this to
- 19:12Speaker 2: It's like the South side of Chicago. It's like, Okay,
- 19:14Speaker 2: here's what you need to do. Uh, you're gonna take
- 19:16Speaker 2: this exit. You're going to go straight onto the tarmac.
- 19:19Speaker 2: You're going to get on that flight, and when it's
- 19:21Speaker 2: over kind of where you think it's supposed to be,
- 19:23Speaker 2: throw that pizza out the window. Hopefully it just Landswerber
- 19:27Speaker 2: needs to go deep dish.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I mean, if they if they put in there, I
- 19:38Speaker 1: only want to take the safest, you know, route available.
- 19:41Speaker 1: That may be the only option.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: It also brings up a solid argument for drone delivery.
- 19:50Speaker 2: If you told that out of a plane, then the
- 19:51Speaker 2: next line is door desh driver kill someone with dominoes.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Uh.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Well, not to be outdone, there is an even dumber
- 20:02Speaker 1: airline story. All right, here we go. American Airlines sent
- 20:07Speaker 1: a plane from the United States to Italy that was
- 20:10Speaker 1: too big for its destination airport, so it wasn't even
- 20:14Speaker 1: allowed to land. Uh planning, My god.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I don't know how that happens. How does that? What's
- 20:27Speaker 2: the refund policy on that?
- 20:30Speaker 1: Well, the flight goes to go to Naples, but the
- 20:33Speaker 1: plane that they sent was too big to land at
- 20:36Speaker 1: Naples Airport, so they had to change course to Rome.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Oh god, Okay.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Now I've never been to Italy. I don't know how
- 20:44Speaker 1: far apart those two cities actually are, but I do
- 20:47Speaker 1: know there's a big difference between a plane landing in
- 20:50Speaker 1: Houston versus Amarillo.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but but people had plans, like you know, it's like,
- 20:58Speaker 2: I know you guys wanted to celebrate your anniversary in Naples,
- 21:02Speaker 2: But how about Germany? Have you seen Frankfurt's lovely this
- 21:08Speaker 2: time of year?
- 21:09Speaker 3: I mean, but but don't you think you would hope
- 21:12Speaker 3: we're at a point where someone's filling out the flight data.
- 21:16Speaker 3: You know, there's got to be a system and and
- 21:18Speaker 3: I believe this one was a seven eight seven Dreamliner,
- 21:22Speaker 3: And when they put seven eight seven in the type
- 21:24Speaker 3: of plane, it goes, uh, you can't do that. And
- 21:28Speaker 3: you know, like if I get the expiration dat on
- 21:31Speaker 3: my credit card wrong on a thing, it kicks, it
- 21:33Speaker 3: won't go through and it kicks me back. You would
- 21:35Speaker 3: hope there's at least that minimum safeguard and somewhere in
- 21:38Speaker 3: our our airline planning, because.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but the guy who goes was off that day,
- 21:44Speaker 2: so why he wasn't able to physically make the noise when.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You he was a DEI fire. I mean, we had
- 21:58Speaker 1: the one gen Z kid that was supposed to be
- 22:00Speaker 1: making their noises, but they got got caught up in
- 22:03Speaker 1: the doge.
- 22:06Speaker 3: No no Alexa, no Siri, no nothing. I mean, come on,
- 22:09Speaker 3: there's gotta be some cisron place.
- 22:12Speaker 2: All fired. Now you just have to guess how long
- 22:15Speaker 2: is the runway. I think it could fit a seven
- 22:17Speaker 2: eighty seven. Send them to Naples. Let's go and see
- 22:20Speaker 2: what happens.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I think the other part of that's awesome, besides the
- 22:25Speaker 1: obvious part that the plane was too big to land
- 22:28Speaker 1: at that spot, is this is a transatlantic flight. It
- 22:31Speaker 1: took off from Philadelphia, was supposed to land in Naples.
- 22:36Speaker 1: The flight wasn't notified they were too big to land
- 22:39Speaker 1: in Naples until they were seventy miles away. They had
- 22:44Speaker 1: hours to be told y'all too big.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Well, I'm sure until they made contact with the tower
- 22:51Speaker 3: at the Naples Airport. They're like, no, no, no, there's
- 22:57Speaker 3: no way. Thanks, we don't we don't want to run
- 23:01Speaker 3: right into this. You're gonna you're gonna run right into
- 23:04Speaker 3: this vineyard. Oh we can't, we can't have we can't
- 23:08Speaker 3: do that buddy uh Rome, maybe like let's just let's
- 23:11Speaker 3: check out and see if that works.
- 23:14Speaker 2: But yeah, can you imagine, like you have a big family.
- 23:17Speaker 2: I know a buddy of mine just went and he's
- 23:18Speaker 2: got like eighteen twenty people that were on this flight
- 23:20Speaker 2: because it was big family reunion, like grandmother was turning
- 23:24Speaker 2: like one hundred years old or something like that. Like
- 23:26Speaker 2: everybody was like, can you imagine doing that? And like, yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 2: see if you can get her to Rome. I know
- 23:32Speaker 2: she's a hundred and she might die on the trip,
- 23:33Speaker 2: but that's where we have to land. There's so many
- 23:36Speaker 2: inconveniences though, just because they didn't check to see the
- 23:40Speaker 2: link of the runway.
- 23:42Speaker 1: All right, are you ready for this next one? Because
- 23:44Speaker 1: this next story is even dumber than American Airline sending
- 23:47Speaker 1: a plane that's too big to land at an airport
- 23:49Speaker 1: in Italy.
- 23:49Speaker 3: All right, here you go.
- 23:51Speaker 1: H Are you guys familiar with the new real ID
- 23:54Speaker 1: requirements to travel?
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yes?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, on your on your ID, you got the
- 23:59Speaker 1: gold star are and that's the mark of the real ID.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You have to have that in order to fly these days. Well,
- 24:06Speaker 1: some people may not have that ID yet, so they're
- 24:11Speaker 1: scouring through their wallets trying to find some piece of
- 24:13Speaker 1: identification that has a gold Star on it, and some people,
- 24:17Speaker 1: to their absolute glee, found their Costco card. It's got
- 24:24Speaker 1: their name, it's got their photo, and a gold star
- 24:27Speaker 1: because they're gold Star members. The problem is that don't work,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and this has happened so many times that the Transportation
- 24:34Speaker 1: Security Administration had to release a statement to the public
- 24:38Speaker 1: telling them stop trying to use your Costco card as
- 24:42Speaker 1: a replacement for a real ID. It's not the same.
- 24:46Speaker 1: In fact, TSA posted on Facebook that said travelers cannot
- 24:50Speaker 1: use the Costco card to fly. They even said, we
- 24:54Speaker 1: love hot dogs and rotisserie chickens as much as the
- 24:56Speaker 1: next person, but please stop telling people their Costco card
- 24:59Speaker 1: counts as a real ID, because it absolutely does not.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I don't know, it's got your picture on it, name,
- 25:07Speaker 2: date of birth.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I mean the Costco the Costco store does tout the
- 25:15Speaker 1: member benefits quite highly. Mm hmm yeah, I mean, just imagine,
- 25:20Speaker 1: just imagine that benefit if you walk into Costco and say,
- 25:23Speaker 1: not only can you get access to all these wonderful
- 25:26Speaker 1: goods and items at phenomenal prices, but you can also
- 25:31Speaker 1: use this Costco membership card at the airport. Sign me up.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you have to show it to get
- 25:39Speaker 2: into the Costco. I think it should be okay to
- 25:42Speaker 2: get on the plane. I mean, that's as good as
- 25:46Speaker 2: a passport. I mean, if you if you're asking me,
- 25:51Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just saying.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I think we found the problem. I think what happened
- 25:56Speaker 1: is when American Airlines decided they were going to send
- 25:58Speaker 1: that Boeing play that was too big to land in Naples.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It's because they bought it at Costco and it was
- 26:03Speaker 1: too big.
- 26:06Speaker 2: They're buying dream Lenders in bulk.
- 26:10Speaker 1: That's a box of fifty dream Lighters. Let's see if
- 26:12Speaker 1: we can make him land that poor sample. Lady, you
- 26:18Speaker 1: gotta need a bigger hair.

- 27:15Speaker 1: that's Tray, he's Raj. This is the Treehouse Show today, Wednesday,
- 27:18Speaker 1: June eleventh. Excuse me, twenty twenty five. I'm just full
- 27:22Speaker 1: of the noises today. I'm sneezing, I'm burping. My god, look,
- 27:27Speaker 1: and I think I know why. I think it's what Trey,
- 27:32Speaker 1: I see you over there? Mm hmm. Anyway, maybe my body's.
- 27:39Speaker 3: What it's early remind you know, reminds me eily of somebody.
- 27:46Speaker 2: How dare you? You might want to go check see
- 27:50Speaker 2: if you have a sinus in cash?
- 27:53Speaker 1: Speaking of how dare you?
- 27:55Speaker 8: Uh?
- 27:55Speaker 1: I know when you send me stories, Trey, sometimes what
- 27:58Speaker 1: you're getting at Sometimes you're cute and subtle. Other Times
- 28:04Speaker 1: you're as subtle as a sledgehammer, or in this case,
- 28:06Speaker 1: you're about as subtle as a giant pencil. You know
- 28:11Speaker 1: why I know that, because you're a giant for sending
- 28:16Speaker 1: me this story. Why a Minneapolis neighborhood sharpens a giant
- 28:20Speaker 1: pencil every year? This is what happens. Okay, everyone, just
- 28:27Speaker 1: here's what I need you to do. Ignore Trey and
- 28:29Speaker 1: Raj for a moment. Just listen to me. Just pay attention.
- 28:32Speaker 1: This is what happens when you confide something to your friends.
- 28:37Speaker 1: This is what happens as a man. When you share
- 28:40Speaker 1: something vulnerable with your buddies, they use it against you
- 28:44Speaker 1: to torment, bully.
- 28:48Speaker 3: I send it. I think it's a vacation destination for you,
- 28:54Speaker 3: a pilgrimage if you will.
- 28:56Speaker 1: To bully and torment under the guise of oh, this
- 28:59Speaker 1: is a good thing for you. That's called gas lighting.
- 29:02Speaker 1: That's what this is.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Anyway, Just so many dans in one spot.
- 29:08Speaker 10: Look, when I was a little kid, I had a
- 29:10Speaker 10: big pencil that had my name on it. It's not
- 29:16Speaker 10: because I was confusing my big pencil with anybody else's
- 29:19Speaker 10: big pencil.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I was the only kid that had the big pencil.
- 29:22Speaker 1: But they still wanted to make sure they knew it
- 29:24Speaker 1: was mine, so they put Danny on it. Okay, there
- 29:26Speaker 1: you go. There was like some sort of gag gift.
- 29:28Speaker 1: We got it at six Flags or something. No, you
- 29:30Speaker 1: don't get a time outrage.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Just saying you just said you set it up for me.
- 29:37Speaker 2: You were in class, you had a big pencil, nobody
- 29:39Speaker 2: else had one, but they still had to put your
- 29:41Speaker 2: name on it.
- 29:44Speaker 1: They didn't have to. They got to you were.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Losing the only pencil that only one person. Where does
- 29:52Speaker 2: my big pencil keep going? Nobody else has one put
- 29:55Speaker 2: his name on it. You'll find it.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So in Trace, he's a story that a town
- 30:01Speaker 1: of Minneapolis sharpens a giant pencil every year. Of course
- 30:04Speaker 1: he's gonna send that straight to me and go he
- 30:06Speaker 1: look look what I got.
- 30:07Speaker 2: This will be fun today, giant age.
- 30:17Speaker 4: I know.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I'll admit though, as mad as I am, I'm genuinely curious.
- 30:20Speaker 1: More than one thousand people gathered on Saturday in a
- 30:24Speaker 1: scenic Minneapolis neighborhood for an annual ritual, the sharpening of
- 30:29Speaker 1: a gigantic number two pencil, the twenty foot tall Jesus,
- 30:36Speaker 1: that's a big pencil. The twenty foot tall pencil was
- 30:39Speaker 1: sculpted out of a mammoth oak tree at the home
- 30:42Speaker 1: of John and Amy Higgins. The beloved tree was damaged
- 30:46Speaker 1: in the storm a few years ago when fierce winds
- 30:49Speaker 1: twisted off the crown. Neighbors mourned. A couple even wept.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It's probably my biological parent. But the Higginses saw it
- 30:57Speaker 1: not so much as a loss, but as a chance
- 30:59Speaker 1: to give the tree New Life. The sharpening ceremony on
- 31:01Speaker 1: their front lawn has evolved into a community spectacle that
- 31:04Speaker 1: draws hundreds of people to the leafy neighborhood on the
- 31:07Speaker 1: Lake of the Isles, complete with music and pageantry. Some
- 31:10Speaker 1: people even dress as pencils or erasers. Two Swiss alporn
- 31:15Speaker 1: players provided part of this year's entertainment, Jesus Christ Stupid.
- 31:20Speaker 1: The hosts commemorated a Minneapolis icon, the late music superstar Prince,
- 31:25Speaker 1: by handing out giant purple pencils on what would have
- 31:28Speaker 1: been his sixty seventh birthday. And I think it's time
- 31:32Speaker 1: that I take my pilgrimage.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I think he might be the Grand Puba again with
- 31:43Speaker 3: a big eraser hat.
- 31:51Speaker 2: He get, you get to wave to the crowd.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Rachel Hyman said she flew in from Chicago for the event,
- 32:00Speaker 1: probably with somebody's pizza. Dressed in a pencil costume. Rachel said,
- 32:07Speaker 1: some man is sharpening a pencil on his lawn and
- 32:09Speaker 1: this is what happens. Yeah, I'm going to be a
- 32:12Speaker 1: part of it. How can you not life is too short? Well,
- 32:14Speaker 1: you know what's not too short? That pencil because they
- 32:17Speaker 1: haven't over sharpened it just enough.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I mean, I think this is your your chance. You
- 32:23Speaker 3: would be the norm. And that's cheers. And you know,
- 32:28Speaker 3: the minute they saw you.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I am home and they've already got a spot set
- 32:34Speaker 1: up for me.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Uh huh. And it's got a big wooden house looking
- 32:37Speaker 2: thing that you can run headfirst into and that's what
- 32:39Speaker 2: kicks off the bread.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Your helmet's an eraser.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Other events are started with starting pistols. You know, this
- 32:53Speaker 1: one started with my forehead smashing against pieces of wood.
- 32:58Speaker 2: There's just a giant scantron at the end. Oh, it's
- 33:00Speaker 2: gonna be great.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Now.
- 33:04Speaker 1: In my version, it's a big chief tablet.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Did you have one of those?
- 33:10Speaker 1: Of course you have to have a big chief tablet
- 33:13Speaker 1: to go with your big pencil.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yeah, what are you stro.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Had illegal patent matt pencils. I don't know what you
- 33:26Speaker 2: guys did. That's the Asian starter kid. I wasn't taking notes,
- 33:37Speaker 2: I was taking depositions there, buddy.
- 33:42Speaker 1: All right, Well, the good news is I've got just
- 33:44Speaker 1: under a year to start planning my trip for next year.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Yes, I want to win the lottery so bad, so
- 33:50Speaker 2: we can do a live event from this thing. What
- 33:53Speaker 2: what is the name of it? Is there? Is there
- 33:56Speaker 2: a name like the Great Pencil Sharpening. It's like the
- 33:59Speaker 2: pumpkin patch for the slow.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Kids, Raj. They're only slow because the pencil is so big.
- 34:08Speaker 2: The pencil waits too much.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes you got to use two hands. Great pencil Festival, you.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Know, Rajer. You got it wrong though. If you win
- 34:28Speaker 3: the lottery, if I win the lottery, it's not we
- 34:30Speaker 3: need to build Dan a log cabin out of giant pencils.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Yes, your new vacation home.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Yeah, the problem is you two are you two are
- 34:43Speaker 1: big enough that what you'll do is you'll make the
- 34:45Speaker 1: threshold at the front door short, so I smack my
- 34:48Speaker 1: head on it every time I walk in.
- 34:50Speaker 3: If you're not wearing your pencil helmet, yeah.

- 35:39Speaker 1: Today is Wednesday, June eleventh, twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate
- 35:45Speaker 1: today with some birthdays. Caitlin Naked is twenty six today.
- 35:51Speaker 1: She played or plays Enid on The Walking Dead. I'm
- 35:55Speaker 1: not sure, Honest to god, I'm not sure what versions
- 35:57Speaker 1: of those shows are still on, just because I just
- 36:00Speaker 1: I tapped out so many years ago. It just seems
- 36:03Speaker 1: odd to me that the shows are even still going.
- 36:06Speaker 1: And at this point I kind of feel bad for
- 36:08Speaker 1: some of the actors on the show because I'm brain farting,
- 36:12Speaker 1: brain farting on her name. I think it's Cohen. The
- 36:17Speaker 1: actress that plays Maggie has been on the show since
- 36:22Speaker 1: that season one, right, yeah, season one. She's been on
- 36:26Speaker 1: the show since season one. I don't even know what
- 36:28Speaker 1: season they're on us. She's still on that damn show.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I kind of feel bad for she gets to watch
- 36:32Speaker 1: all these other people go off and do other things.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Like John Burnhal was out at like season three, I think,
- 36:37Speaker 1: and then now he's a major movie star. Andrew Lincoln
- 36:42Speaker 1: was so burned down and Walking Dead. I'm not even
- 36:43Speaker 1: sure what he's done since then, other than just count money.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Other actors on that show have gone on to do
- 36:49Speaker 1: other things. The guy, the old guy who played her
- 36:52Speaker 1: dad in the film. He was so sick of the
- 36:55Speaker 1: show at one point that he went off and got
- 36:58Speaker 1: a duy on a Georgia back road try to get
- 37:00Speaker 1: out of it by doing yoga.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Is there footage of this? Because I want to see.
- 37:06Speaker 1: I need to double check. But my point is I
- 37:09Speaker 1: get I now understand why some people, some actors say
- 37:13Speaker 1: I'm tired of playing this role. I'm tired of doing
- 37:15Speaker 1: this thing. Time for me to move on and do
- 37:17Speaker 1: something else. I get that now.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I'm sure she got paid. I'm sure they threw a
- 37:21Speaker 2: they threw bags of money at her. And then her
- 37:24Speaker 2: syndication deals are going to be I mean through the roof.
- 37:28Speaker 2: She's going to make millions forever and ever and ever.
- 37:31Speaker 2: So I hope.
- 37:32Speaker 3: So yeah, I have seen zero episodes of any form
- 37:37Speaker 3: of The Walking Dead.
- 37:38Speaker 2: High five Trey, me too.
- 37:39Speaker 1: The first season is really really good.
- 37:42Speaker 2: That's what everybody says.
- 37:43Speaker 1: The first few seasons. The first few seasons are really
- 37:45Speaker 1: really good, and then after a while you're like, yeah,
- 37:48Speaker 1: I think I'm done.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Unless Woody Harrelson's in it. Zombie anything has just no
- 37:54Speaker 3: appeal to me.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't like when people got you got
- 37:56Speaker 2: to watch the first two seasons after that it sucks.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Why am I getting invested in two seasons worth of
- 38:01Speaker 2: a TV show if the rest of it's gonna suck?
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'm like, no, I'm good not watching it at all.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Oh but you're missing out No, apparently, according to you,
- 38:09Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 38:10Speaker 1: You bring up a great point, though, that is if
- 38:13Speaker 1: you know the ending is bad or at some point
- 38:18Speaker 1: the show is like the Walking Dead, there is no end,
- 38:21Speaker 1: it just keeps going, but people tell you it gets
- 38:25Speaker 1: bad at a certain point, do you invest any time
- 38:27Speaker 1: at all? Because I've wondered this myself, like when it
- 38:30Speaker 1: comes to Game of Thrones. I was fully invested in
- 38:33Speaker 1: Game of Thrones, and it took a handful of episode
- 38:34Speaker 1: for me to truly get into it before I realized, Okay, yeah,
- 38:37Speaker 1: I love this show. And then by the last season,
- 38:39Speaker 1: I was so mad at the last season the way
- 38:41Speaker 1: it ended, and it just felt rushed and just terrible
- 38:45Speaker 1: that it has me to where I don't even want
- 38:47Speaker 1: to go back and watch it again. And if I
- 38:49Speaker 1: had never seen an episode knowing how angry everybody was
- 38:53Speaker 1: after the last season and the last episode, I think
- 38:57Speaker 1: it would turn me off to not everyone to see
- 38:59Speaker 1: it like you raj uh.
- 39:01Speaker 3: That's what happened. Like I struggled to get through the
- 39:04Speaker 3: first season of Game of Thrones, and it was right
- 39:07Speaker 3: after the last season had had come out, and I'm
- 39:10Speaker 3: sure that did affect my decision of I don't want
- 39:13Speaker 3: to invest any more time in this because the first
- 39:15Speaker 3: season was like pulling teeth to get through.
- 39:17Speaker 2: And wasn't it like they did, Like half the actors
- 39:19Speaker 2: didn't even want to do the final episode because they
- 39:21Speaker 2: were that legitimately jaded from the show, like they that's
- 39:25Speaker 2: why they people said it felt rush like they had
- 39:27Speaker 2: to get people like we'll pay you.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It was the Riders. I mean everyone said the Riders
- 39:32Speaker 3: just phoned it in on that.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Yeah, the creators of the show, they had gotten a
- 39:38Speaker 1: deal to make a Star Wars thing, and they were
- 39:41Speaker 1: so excited to get started on that that they completely
- 39:44Speaker 1: mailed in the last season of Game of Thrones. And
- 39:47Speaker 1: because they jacked that last season of Game of Thrones,
- 39:52Speaker 1: that Star Wars deal went away.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Oh wow, they should have just done a crossover. That
- 39:57Speaker 2: would have been I would have watched that Game of Wookies.
- 40:00Speaker 2: That would be nice. I'm just saying, dragons fighting wookies.
- 40:08Speaker 1: A bunch of little a bunch of little Yoda hookers.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Yes see, now I'm invested in this show.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Come to think of it, there already is somewhat of
- 40:18Speaker 1: a crossover appeal between Game of Thrones and Star Wars.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Both shows have incest.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Yes, and most of the people watching both shows also
- 40:27Speaker 2: live in basements, so there's that.
- 40:29Speaker 1: But the Game of Thrones incest, they were honest about it.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Star Wars tried to cover it up, be like no, no, no,
- 40:36Speaker 1: we knew the whole time.
- 40:37Speaker 2: No you didn't, Oh yeah, oh yeah the yeah, yeah, okay.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Game of Thrones owned its incest. Star Wars tried to
- 40:46Speaker 1: tried to play it off as not that was.
- 40:49Speaker 2: That's a weird way to describe that show. Yeah, Game
- 40:53Speaker 2: of Thrones, we're all about incest.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Well, you know what, as bad as the last season
- 40:58Speaker 1: was of Game of Thrones, they did get one thing right.
- 41:02Speaker 1: They torched Aaron Rodgers. I never saw he was an
- 41:08Speaker 1: extra when I think it was one of the last
- 41:10Speaker 1: episodes of that last season the Game of Thrones. There's
- 41:13Speaker 1: an Aaron Rodgers very brief extra appearance. He's running because
- 41:18Speaker 1: like the dragons, that uh Mama of dragons is unleashed
- 41:22Speaker 1: on the city and it's killing all these innocent people.
- 41:25Speaker 1: He was one of the innocent people running away from
- 41:28Speaker 1: the dragons and he got torched by one of them.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Interesting. I wonder if you knew he was on the
- 41:32Speaker 2: show or that was just a really awesome Ayahuasca trip.
- 41:39Speaker 8: Dragons.

- 42:33Speaker 1: Treehouse Show. I'm Dan, He's trade. That's raj. Today is Wednesday,
- 42:36Speaker 1: June eleventh, twenty twenty five.
- 42:38Speaker 4: A day.
- 42:38Speaker 1: There are a lot of these inside the Treehouse, but
- 42:40Speaker 1: it's still got to call it out. A day that
- 42:43Speaker 1: will live in infamy here inside the Treehouse because this
- 42:46Speaker 1: is the day that I share with you. Trey and
- 42:48Speaker 1: U Raj and you the Dear Sweet Treehouse show listener.
- 42:53Speaker 1: One of the worst competitions I have ever seen in
- 42:55Speaker 1: my life. You are watching the Seagulls Screeching competition that
- 43:14Speaker 1: got held last week in Japan Belgium. Sixty contestants from
- 43:19Speaker 1: fourteen different countries gathered in the town for a chance
- 43:24Speaker 1: to be crowned the best seagull imitator at the fifth
- 43:27Speaker 1: European Goal Screeching Championship. The competition aims to create a
- 43:32Speaker 1: positive image of the essential coastal bird, which are often
- 43:36Speaker 1: despised by the public for their intrusive behavior like this.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Gotta say that's a pretty good one. But these are
- 43:49Speaker 1: all people. Many of these people are dressed up as seagulls,
- 43:53Speaker 1: and they're screeching quite loudly into a microphone too closely,
- 43:56Speaker 1: if you ask me. Because I'm a radio professional and
- 43:58Speaker 1: I understand, know and appreciate mike placement, these people do not.
- 44:03Speaker 1: So they're screaming and screeching into microphones while dressed as seagulls,
- 44:10Speaker 1: some of them in group form or in the case
- 44:19Speaker 1: and this young lady, she has makeup to match the
- 44:24Speaker 1: seagull costume that she's wearing.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Some of them in groups, some of them buyork.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I'm just waiting for how long. I'm just waiting to
- 44:34Speaker 1: see how long it is before Trey recognizes that all
- 44:36Speaker 1: these competitors are female.
- 44:45Speaker 2: And these people look down on us. And this is
- 44:48Speaker 2: when I said, this is the video they show and
- 44:50Speaker 2: you're like, you don't believe we's a gateway drug. Here
- 44:52Speaker 2: we go. This is what I think.
- 44:55Speaker 1: It's understandable for them to look down on us. They
- 44:57Speaker 1: think they're birds flying high above us. And I sure
- 45:02Speaker 1: as hell I'm not going to tell them, Motherwy because
- 45:07Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I just want him
- 45:09Speaker 1: to shut up. Sweet Jesus. For all things Treehouse, go
