- 0:05Presenter: In this episode, the behind the scenes of this podcast, part five.
- 0:17Host: Welcome to Behind the Scenes, where Väruld's creator, Désirée Nordlund, is interviewed.
- 0:22Host: Her AI voice is with me today as usual.
- 0:26Host: Hello, Désirée.
- 0:28Host: Hello.
- 0:29Host: I know you want to present a new feature today, Désirée.
- 0:33Host: I do.
- 0:35AI-Désirée: Stories from Väruld presents fragments, and that is how I want it.
- 0:40AI-Désirée: But in many episodes, I've added a link to a world map so you can see where the episode is taking place.
- 0:47AI-Désirée: That way you can see other episodes from the same area too.
- 0:52Host: That could be one way to link episodes together, I agree.
- 0:55Host: Giving it visual and geographic context.
- 0:58Host: Good idea.
- 1:00Host: There are a microphone icon for the podcast episodes, but what are the clef icons on the map?
- 1:08AI-Désirée: That is music I've made in Suno for the world.
- 1:11AI-Désirée: There are a few anthems, hymns from the temples, songs from the taverns, and so on.
- 1:19Host: You really try to give us a lot of flavours.
- 1:23AI-Désirée: Thank you.
- 1:24AI-Désirée: One of the advantages of AI is that it is easier to work on your dream project, like this podcast, and making music.
- 1:33AI-Désirée: A disadvantage is that not everyone's projects are that good.
- 1:38AI-Désirée: I hope my work is not in that category.
- 1:42AI-Désirée: But it is very rewarding for me, no matter what.
- 1:48Presenter: You work a lot with AI, not just this podcast.
- 1:52AI-Désirée: I do.
- 1:53AI-Désirée: My background is in system developing, and I find AI a fascinating tool.
- 1:59AI-Désirée: Within programming, there has not been much of a debate about the use of AI, not as it has been within more cultural areas.
- 2:06AI-Désirée: For me, I found it a great tool for language, for instance.
- 2:11AI-Désirée: English is not my native language, and I worked hard for many years to write high-quality English.
- 2:18AI-Désirée: It feels better to spend that time on create things.
- 2:21AI-Désirée: That is what I love doing.
- 2:24AI-Désirée: Don't your customers get upset when you use AI?
- 2:27AI-Désirée: I used AI illustrations already at my first Varreled Kickstarter.
- 2:32AI-Désirée: I think they know.
- 2:34AI-Désirée: I've also stated that I use AI in more general terms on Itch, where I sell my material.
- 2:39AI-Désirée: I use what I find helpful and fun.
- 2:43Host: And so you just tell an AI to create you a character.
- 2:47AI-Désirée: No no.
- 2:48AI-Désirée: You don't get good high-quality characters with depth that way.
- 2:52AI-Désirée: You need to know what you want and take it step by step with an AI.
- 2:57AI-Désirée: So if I ask, let's say, ChatGPT, to give me a stonemason, I get a very generic stonemason.
- 3:05AI-Désirée: You have to give it more to work with, which means you have to create the character.
- 3:11AI-Désirée: Then you can get help from AI with skills you don't have, like a likely background for a stonemason, likely damages to his body by the work, and so on.
- 3:21AI-Désirée: And of course with the language, but there as well you need to know what you want, or you'll get generic writing.
- 3:28AI-Désirée: So you don't think that using AI is stealing?
- 3:32AI-Désirée: No.
- 3:33AI-Désirée: We have always been inspired by others' work.
- 3:37AI-Désirée: And the lawyers will figure out rules for training if needed.
- 3:43Host: A pleasure talking to you, Désirée.
- 3:46Host: That was all for tonight, good folks.
- 3:50AI-Désirée: Thank you for listening to my podcast.
- 3:52AI-Désirée: And don't forget to check out the map and let me know what you think about it.
- 3:59Presenter: Thank you for listening to Stories from Väruld.
- 4:02Presenter: In the next episode, Lore, The birth of the Allvaldughers.
