- 1:06SPEAKER_03: It is 262.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: 262.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_06: 262.
- 1:11SPEAKER_06: 262.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: Um, and we don't have the flu.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: We are on video again if this works out tonight.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: Hello, camera Doug.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: We're test driving some things again.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: We have uh we have a couple of new things.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: So uh if you don't if hopefully when you hear this podcast, uh this episode, last week's episode, will be up on YouTube.
- 1:34SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: Um, and then it so it may take a little while to get it up on YouTube, but you you know, uh baby steps.
- 1:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah, baby steps.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, you know, you can't Rome wasn't built in the days.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: So we checked out these cameras uh and hopefully they're going to work the whole time.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: We have a new uh recording mechanism, yeah, which is pretty sweet, fancy, actually.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: So we'll see how how it's like legit, man, and it doesn't run on batteries.
- 2:07SPEAKER_05: Right, exactly.
- 2:08SPEAKER_05: That's what I'm most excited about.
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: You know, you you're you like all the you know the gadgets and all the gadget stuff.
- 2:13SPEAKER_05: I'm just like, hey, it runs on electricity.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's yeah, there's a definitely a there's a power source.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: So that's nice.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: Um so yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: Um a couple of things we need to talk about.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Uh number one.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Uh well, I don't know if I want to talk about number one.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: Um number two.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
- 2:41SPEAKER_05: See, already it's not working.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Ah hold on.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, I have to hit this.
- 2:45SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: No.
- 2:48SPEAKER_02: Is it there?
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: There it is.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: That's what I was trying to say.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: That was pretty loud.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: Um, so well, the big news.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: Uh do you want to talk about the big news?
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, everybody knows about the big news now, but we we haven't talked about it yet.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Or do you want to talk about what we've got coming up?
- 3:09SPEAKER_05: Let's talk about us.
- 3:10SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 3:11SPEAKER_05: Because it is all about us.
- 3:12SPEAKER_05: It is.
- 3:13SPEAKER_05: And then we'll talk about the big news.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: Okay, so we have talked about this for a little while now.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: Um, but it's it's happening tomorrow.
- 3:21SPEAKER_05: Tomorrow, bro.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Uh we are, well, and you did you see what it's being billed as?
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: We're being billed as?
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: No.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Maine, well, yeah, you did.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: Did I?
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: Maybe I didn't pay attention.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: No.
- 3:32SPEAKER_03: No, we're not you.
- 3:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, entirely me.
- 3:36SPEAKER_05: Um sometimes I just skim things and I'm like looking for important information.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Well.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's the wrong one.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: Here we go.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: So we are being billed as Maine's Premier Rock Motown Main State Song Band.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: That is the stupidest name ever.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: That's why I asked.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Um, do we have to know the Main State song?
- 4:02SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's why that was.
- 4:03SPEAKER_05: I I I guess I saw all that, but I didn't really it didn't register what that was that we were being billed as that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Well, it's in quotes.
- 4:12SPEAKER_03: So I'm that's and and then and it's capitalized.
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: So that's why I'm thinking that's what Chris put, that's why he put it there, is because that's what we're being billed as.
- 4:19SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: Maine's premier rock Motown Main State song band.
- 4:24SPEAKER_05: That is a terrible name.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Maybe he's joking.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Maybe I hope so.
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: Maybe that's him.
- 4:28SPEAKER_05: Maybe that's a Morton joke.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: I hope so.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Because that is really dope.
- 4:32SPEAKER_03: Because that's terrible.
- 4:33SPEAKER_03: Really dumb.
- 4:33SPEAKER_03: So bad.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Well, we are billed as the Star City Syndicate, which essentially it's not the Star City Syndicate, you know?
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: Because the Syndicate is has a 12-piece horn section.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 4:44SPEAKER_03: Um, so uh anyway, our our band, the the the core of the Star City Syndicate, the what do we call AARP S.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: AARP were speed wagon.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: That's that's what we're going with.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: Which I love.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: Absolutely love.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: Uh we've been hired to play the um conference of town managers, main town managers.
- 5:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: And they wanted 80s rock.
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: So we've only had a few rehearsals.
- 5:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: Um and we learned some 80s rock.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: And so we're gonna go and play this show.
- 5:19SPEAKER_05: I think we have way more songs than we need.
- 5:22SPEAKER_05: I do too.
- 5:22SPEAKER_05: So I think we're gonna be fine as far as song selection goes.
- 5:26SPEAKER_05: I agree.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: So um, but it's always nice to be prepared.
- 5:29SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 5:30SPEAKER_05: You never know.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: Um so yeah, so we're going to I took the I took a personal day tomorrow, which I'm excited about.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Uh, to go play some rock and roll.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Uh at the Cross Insurance Center, which is kind of a big deal.
- 5:46SPEAKER_05: Uh it's one of the bigger event places in the state.
- 5:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 5:51SPEAKER_05: So, I mean, considering this year, I mean we played the Collins Center at Orange.
- 5:59SPEAKER_05: I do like that we're breaking new markets.
- 6:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and now we're playing the Cross Center.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:03SPEAKER_05: So I mean, you know.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:05SPEAKER_05: I mean, can you imagine?
- 6:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, imagine when we started 30 years ago back in '95.
- 6:14SPEAKER_05: Did we ever in the wildest dreams, did we ever think that the two of us would be playing at the one of the bigger event centers in Bangor?
- 6:24SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 6:25unknown: No.
- 6:26SPEAKER_05: With a bunch of people we hadn't even met yet.
- 6:28SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 6:28SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 6:28SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 6:29SPEAKER_05: We you know, if you had told if you if some time traveler had come and told us that, we would have been like, What are you smoking and can you share it with us, man?
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: No, it's true.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: You know, it's true.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: Um and the cross insurance wasn't even there 30 years ago.
- 6:45SPEAKER_05: No, it was the Bangor Auditorium.
- 6:47SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 6:47SPEAKER_05: So I mean, you know, so this is like Bradley.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: This is, I mean, you know, I think that Brad Paisley play played there.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: I mean, all these bands, big bands have played there.
- 6:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: Um, so so it'll it'll be interesting.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: Um it's it's a it's a pretty planned out day.
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: Um, and we just found out that um the governor will be speaking.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: So we will have an audience with the main governor.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Which you know, you can make your own joke there, I guess.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: Um yeah.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: Uh and she's supposed to speak as well, so I'll be interested to see how long that goes and and what what she has to say.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: And um I'll be on the sidelines and be like, keep it short.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: We want to play rock and roll.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: So oh and you know, I I was prepar I was um trying to fix my strat guitar uh so that I could bring that.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: I because it was making a noise.
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: This is I'm going off on a tangent now, but um like when you hit the string?
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: Well no, the volume, I would turn the volume when I do this it makes noises.
- 7:58SPEAKER_05: You're a jerk.
- 7:59SPEAKER_05: Hey Randy, can you fix this?
- 8:03SPEAKER_05: Fucking torture making noises, what's it doing?
- 8:10SPEAKER_05: Oh, it sounds like music.
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: It's weird.
- 8:13SPEAKER_05: We just can't have that.
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: It's like a beaver looking at water.
- 8:18SPEAKER_05: I can't have it.
- 8:22SPEAKER_05: I can't have running water, I can't have music coming out of my guitar.
- 8:28SPEAKER_06: Why do I even bother?
- 8:30SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 8:30SPEAKER_06: Sorry.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: The volume when I would turn it on.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: There was a scratch, scratchy, and and uh when I would play a chord, it would kind of come in and out.
- 8:44SPEAKER_03: And I was starting to have that problem at the last few gigs, actually.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: Anyway, so I took it apart and uh and I, you know, used some compressed air.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: Um and seemed to fix it, but in the process I also changed the strings and I adjusted um the there's I don't even know what they're called.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: They're at the they're at the bait.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: It's near the bridge.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: Anyway, because Randy was telling me that they kind of have to be at an angle like this.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: So I made them at an angle.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: Um and it doesn't play the same.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: So I okay.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: I mean it's it sounds okay, I think, but it's it it's it's not and I'm uh half wondering if because I put size 10 strings on it.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Um I haven't changed the string since I bought it.
- 9:38SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: So I'm wondering if it w it had nines on it.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Maybe.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: And no, it didn't.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: I don't think it did have nines on it.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: Anyway, maybe I could be overthinking it.
- 9:50SPEAKER_03: Anyway, so I think I'm gonna bring my telly tomorrow, which is gonna be it's my backup.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Um, which is gonna be a completely different feel.
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: Anyway, but it'll be all right.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: It'll be good.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: It'll be fine.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: It'll be good.
- 10:03SPEAKER_06: Um It'll be fine.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I'm I'm um uh anxious, I'm I'm filled with anxiety, but I'm also anxious.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm pretty pumped to to go on the road and play some rock and roll.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: So I uh it'll be good.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: It'll be fun.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: It'll be good.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Um if nothing else, we'll have a good time.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 10:23SPEAKER_03: And we always do.
- 10:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: We always do.
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: So, okay.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: So we should talk about the big news because this literally came out of nowhere.
- 10:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah, this is huge, man.
- 10:37SPEAKER_03: And and I sent it to you, and you said Morton had just sent it to you uh like minutes before.
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: Um I had to look a couple of times because I I looked at it and I'm like, where is this coming from?
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: And then it said ultimate classicrock.com.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: So I so I went and then the it was like all over the place.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: It was like even on Ultimate Classic Rock, there's like six stories about this whole thing.
- 11:05SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, it's it's everywhere now.
- 11:06SPEAKER_03: And what we're obviously what we're talking about is Getty Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush have decided let's go on tour.
- 11:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:17SPEAKER_05: I was like because Morton, like I said, Morton sent it to me.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:21SPEAKER_05: I thought it was just like a joke.
- 11:23SPEAKER_05: I thought it was like some sort of parody.
- 11:24SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 11:24SPEAKER_05: So I wrote back as like something is rotten in the state of Rock'em.
- 11:28SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 11:28SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 11:29SPEAKER_05: I was like, I was enjoying.
- 11:30SPEAKER_05: And then like five, ten minutes later, you sent it to me.
- 11:33SPEAKER_05: I was like, wait a second.
- 11:35SPEAKER_05: It's the exact same thing.
- 11:37SPEAKER_03: Um did you see I want to see if I can find it now.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: Um Alex Lifeson talking about why they um why they're doing it or Paul McCartney is the reason.
- 11:51SPEAKER_05: Oh Paul Mc Yeah, Paul McCartney told him to do it or something.
- 11:53SPEAKER_05: Did you see the I didn't see the I didn't see the um Oh, I think it's right here.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: This is I have to play this because this is it's this is just a YouTube short.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: Um he's I can't remember who he's talking to.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, he's talking to uh one a guy from a major radio station in New York, I think, and I can't remember who it is.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: But this was this was kind of funny.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: Let's make sure that I have the volume turned up on our new gadget.
- 12:22SPEAKER_09: And I'm I'm I'm having a drink with him.
- 12:24SPEAKER_09: We're talking, and uh and I'm making him laugh, I'm joking around, and you know, and he said to he said, uh, you know, I don't really know uh much about your band, you know, and I know the name, but I don't really know the material.
- 12:37SPEAKER_09: You're quite good, you know.
- 12:39SPEAKER_09: Well are you touring?
- 12:41SPEAKER_09: And I said, No, you know, we you know get he said, no, we're not, you know, a drummer past and we haven't been touring, and and Alex is not really interested anymore.
- 12:49SPEAKER_09: And and he said, Oh no, you should definitely be touring.
- 12:52SPEAKER_09: And I said, Oh, in that case, how about if you manage us?
- 12:56SPEAKER_09: And he laughed and he said, Oh, all right, you've got a deal, I'll do it.
- 13:00SPEAKER_09: And then I said I made a mistake then.
- 13:02SPEAKER_09: I said, Well, and in that case, why why don't you be our caterer as well?
- 13:06SPEAKER_09: And I immediately regretted it because he's vegan.
- 13:10SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay, I've got it, I'll be your manager and your caterer.
- 13:13SPEAKER_09: It's a deal.
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: And I'm thinking, so uh that was um Q1043 uh in New York is the source of that interview.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: I saw that and I thought that was really funny.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but um so the the million dollar question who did they get to play drums?
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 13:33SPEAKER_03: And you know rock fans are finicky.
- 13:42SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: You know, I've been reading a lot of, you know, because this is all over social media.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: And there's comments and everything, and and uh there are are uh uh just tools that can't get over the fact that it's a woman.
- 13:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and it it's really stupid because she's fantastic.
- 14:02SPEAKER_05: No question.
- 14:03SPEAKER_05: You know I mean she have to be because you got you got Alice Liveson, Getty Lee, who played with Neil Peart for Right 40 plus years.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: If they like her.
- 14:15SPEAKER_05: If they like her, then she's good to go.
- 14:17SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 14:17SPEAKER_05: Everybody else's opinion does not matter.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: And so I it seems like, just from your reaction, that you and I are on the same page, where uh Alex and Getty aren't done.
- 14:33SPEAKER_05: I didn't think they were.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: You know, they I think we talked about this back when Neil first passed.
- 14:38SPEAKER_05: We we were talking about Yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_05: I think you asked me if you'd think they'd do stuff, and I was like, I don't I'm I'm I'm sure they'll take time off, but they're they're not gonna be silent forever.
- 14:47SPEAKER_03: And but and there are people out there that are like, you are basically spitting on Neil Pearl's grave.
- 14:55SPEAKER_05: No, they're not.
- 14:56SPEAKER_05: But but there's but that's the you know the I mean Neil's not even the original drummer of Russia.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: Well, people see him that way though.
- 15:03SPEAKER_05: I mean, no, he's the longest lasting one, but he wasn't the original, right?
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: So But look at uh Led Zeppelin, okay?
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: So they made a pact not to do anything when John Bonham died.
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and they haven't, except they Well, they've all done something.
- 15:19SPEAKER_03: What I'm saying is Plant and Paige got together, yeah, and they did something.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that was okay.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, nobody had nobody had any issues.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: No, yeah.
- 15:26SPEAKER_03: Led Zeppelin did a one-off at uh the O2 arena.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, with Jason.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: With Jason Bonham.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: Um everybody was like, oh, it's I I don't so the my only thing is I think the fact that they they want to keep going in their 70s, right?
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: Is Alexander in their 70s, uh more power to them.
- 15:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they can still do it.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: I mean, Alex Alex has got arthritis in his hands.
- 15:53SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 15:54SPEAKER_05: So that's why the if you look at the tour dates, they're very you're in a city for like two, three nights.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 16:00SPEAKER_05: Another city, there's only like six or seven tour dates on this, right, you know, or cities on this tour next year.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:07SPEAKER_05: So I mean, you know, they're not gonna they're not gonna tax themselves.
- 16:10SPEAKER_03: And they're not gonna do 250 shows a year or even if they'll do like maybe 20 shows.
- 16:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: If that.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: If that.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: Um we haven't even mentioned her name yet.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: So this is, and I want to make sure that I get it right.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: Uh is it Anika?
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: I I've been saying Annika, but and it could be she's German.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: Anika.
- 16:29SPEAKER_03: Anika Niles or Niels, or yeah.
- 16:31SPEAKER_05: I don't know how to say that.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: Uh now listen, she's played with Jeff Beck.
- 16:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, she's pff if you can play with Jeff Beck, you can play with anybody.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: But there were people commenting about, you know, how she she doesn't have the stamina, because she's a woman, uh, to last for two or three hours hitting the drums like you know, you were a man would hit the drums.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: And it's like, well, look at Neil Peart.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Neil Peart didn't wail on the drums.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: He didn't wait, he never wailed on drums.
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: No, it was finesse.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was, you know, I don't know.
- 17:02SPEAKER_05: You don't have to be powerful to you know, and plus everything is so amplified now.
- 17:06SPEAKER_05: And Neil used triggers.
- 17:07SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah.
- 17:08SPEAKER_05: So, I mean, everything was amped up, so I mean, he could just like gently tap things.
- 17:13SPEAKER_05: It would sound like he was like, you know what I mean?
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: I want to play um There's a clip over there.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: Well, there's a clip, there's a couple clips.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: Um, and and they're songs.
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: That bottom, I saw the bottom one, and it's really right here?
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: Um, well, we'll start with that one then.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Uh this one is called Shine.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: And this is is this just her?
- 17:33SPEAKER_05: Or is this I think it's just her like playing along to uh like a track, like a pre-recorded track, if I remember.
- 17:39SPEAKER_03: Is it is it it's not collective souls shine, is it?
- 17:42SPEAKER_05: I don't remember.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: No.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: All right, hold on.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: Let me get let me give it credit here because this says uh shine by Kaz Rodriguez and and her, actually.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: So while this is playing.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: So I'm going to kind of put my put myself in in um Alex and Getty's head.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: Because they could have gone with they literally had their pickup they could have.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: They could have gone with with Danny Carey, they could have gone with Chad Smith, Portnoy anybody.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Even it's just a short tour.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: They could have gone with anybody.
- 19:28SPEAKER_03: Um, I think they did want someone uh lesser known.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: I don't think they picked her because she's a woman.
- 19:37SPEAKER_05: No, I think because she's freaking amazing.
- 19:39SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 19:40SPEAKER_05: I mean, look at this.
- 19:41SPEAKER_05: This is this is exactly what they need to play Rush.
- 19:44SPEAKER_05: You need you need this weird sense of time.
- 19:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:49SPEAKER_05: I mean, she obviously has it.
- 19:52SPEAKER_05: I mean, look at her.
- 19:53SPEAKER_05: I mean, she's just very natural.
- 19:56SPEAKER_05: I mean, that's a weird, that's a super weird time signature.
- 19:59SPEAKER_05: And she's just like Yeah.
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:03SPEAKER_05: Not even phasing her.
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: I wanna play the I wanna play the next one.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: You haven't heard this one, you said.
- 20:10SPEAKER_03: I don't think I've heard this.
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: It's called Wild Boy.
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: Um, let me make sure I can get some volume here.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: So let's see what this one sounds like.
- 20:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:46SPEAKER_05: She's a total frog from her.
- 20:48SPEAKER_05: Oh my word.
- 21:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:01SPEAKER_05: There's there's no rush song that she can't handle.
- 21:04SPEAKER_05: Seriously.
- 21:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I totally agree.
- 21:06SPEAKER_05: And she's got all she's got till next summer to get it down.
- 21:11SPEAKER_05: You know that you're gonna, she's gonna Oh yeah.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: No question.
- 21:14SPEAKER_05: So I ain't worried.
- 21:15SPEAKER_05: I think it's gonna be great.
- 21:16SPEAKER_05: I think it's gonna be fantastic.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: I do too.
- 21:18SPEAKER_03: I I think it's um I think it's a um boon for rush fans and female musicians.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: Not unintentionally.
- 21:29SPEAKER_05: I mean Yeah, I mean it's it's not about oh, we chose her because she's a woman.
- 21:34SPEAKER_05: No, it's just because she's freaking awesome.
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 21:37SPEAKER_05: And then she's gonna go out and tour.
- 21:39SPEAKER_05: I mean, because Rush fans are very, very particular.
- 21:43SPEAKER_05: Particular about Rush.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: So do you think they're gonna embrace her?
- 21:46SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 21:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Do you think there's gonna be some Oh, or there's always gonna be that temperature.
- 21:53SPEAKER_05: Comparison, though.
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, there's always gonna be that temperature.
- 21:56SPEAKER_05: That's not how Neil would do it.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: Well, I mean, they were saying stuff like They were saying that stuff like when he was alive.
- 22:02SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 22:03SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 22:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:04SPEAKER_05: That's not how Neil would do it.
- 22:05SPEAKER_05: You know, everybody was comparing Neil to everybody else.
- 22:08SPEAKER_05: That's not how Neil would do it.
- 22:09SPEAKER_05: Well, you know, now now they're gonna be like, that's not how Neil would do it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_05: Well, that's not Neil.
- 22:14SPEAKER_05: You're gonna have to live with it.
- 22:16SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Get over it there, Chuck E.
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: Cheese.
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: Did we already do this?
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: Cause I I I don't mean to change the subject, which is what I'm doing right now.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: Uh subject change.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: Uh actually, before I do that, let's let's finish talking about this.
- 22:29SPEAKER_03: So what do you think?
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: I mean, you haven't seen Rush Live, have you?
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Never.
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: Umly on DVD.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: On my TV.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: Because I know Bragdon has.
- 22:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:41SPEAKER_05: Because I hate him.
- 22:44SPEAKER_03: Um Yeah, well, me too, because he saw Toto and Christopher Cross.
- 22:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: Um But do you what do you think the set list is gonna be like?
- 22:57SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be the hits.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: Just the hits?
- 22:59SPEAKER_05: No, I I don't I don't well, I mean, the I mean, really, what do they have for hits?
- 23:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:05SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 23:05SPEAKER_05: Well, I mean, they're gonna do Tom, they're gonna do Tom or Tom Sawyer.
- 23:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:09SPEAKER_05: They're gonna do limelight, they're gonna do you know subdivisions.
- 23:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:13SPEAKER_05: But they're also gonna go deeper.
- 23:16SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 23:16SPEAKER_05: You know, there's probably gonna be YYZ, I imagine.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: Anything new?
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: Anything or from the newer stuff?
- 23:21SPEAKER_05: Probably.
- 23:22SPEAKER_03: I love that song, Far Cry.
- 23:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm I'm sure they're gonna snake trails, that's uh Snakes and Arrows.
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Is it Snakes and Arrows?
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: I love that song.
- 23:29SPEAKER_05: I remember they're gonna do stuff off uh Clockwork Angels.
- 23:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know.
- 23:33SPEAKER_05: I hope they do the Wreckers, because that's my favorite song off the side.
- 23:35SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's a great song.
- 23:36SPEAKER_05: So I mean yeah, they're gonna it's gonna it's gonna encompass, you know, they're probably gonna do Working Man, I imagine.
- 23:43SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 23:44SPEAKER_05: You know, which was not Neil.
- 23:45SPEAKER_05: That was not Neil, that was John Rustby.
- 23:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:48SPEAKER_05: So I mean, you know, so it's gonna span the entire career.
- 23:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:52SPEAKER_05: It's gonna it's gonna be a fantastic set list.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: I think it's a win-win-win.
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, man.
- 23:59SPEAKER_05: I mean, they cannot lose.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm excited.
- 24:01SPEAKER_05: They cannot this this this tour cannot fail.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: I'm excited about it.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: I think it's gonna be great.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be awesome.
- 24:07SPEAKER_03: Along those same lines, I was listening to our our friend, uh, Eddie Trunk.
- 24:12SPEAKER_05: Oh, hey Eddie.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: Hey Eddie.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: Um, and he had Neil Peart's sister on.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 24:19SPEAKER_03: Um, because apparently, I don't know if you knew this, the Peart Family Events is a thing.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: PeartfamilyEvents.com.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: There's a plug, in case you're sure.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: Um but they they're uh erecting two sculptures uh in this town in Australia.
- 24:39SPEAKER_03: St.
- 24:39SPEAKER_03: Catherine's.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 24:41SPEAKER_03: Um Lakeside Park.
- 24:42SPEAKER_05: Lakeside Park because they wrote a song about it.
- 24:44SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: Um there's one one of the sculptures apparently is is Neil in like the 70s with his mustache and everything.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: Ah, yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: And the other one is and he's oh, and he's leaning up against some something, I can't remember what it was.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: But the other one is him sitting on a drum seat holding out the sticks to the next drummer.
- 25:05SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's cool, yeah.
- 25:07SPEAKER_03: Um but they have to raise like a million dollars.
- 25:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that won't be hard.
- 25:10SPEAKER_03: No, I well, that's what he was saying.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: Eddie Trunk was saying the same thing.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: So they've got a they've already got about two hundred thousand.
- 25:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:16SPEAKER_03: And they're they're just kind of pushing the publicity for it right now.
- 25:19SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: And Eddie Trunk's like, listen, you just the people that listen to my podcast, yeah, you know, the rush fans that listen to my podcast, once they get word of this, I think you'll have you'll have a million dollars, no sweat.
- 25:33SPEAKER_03: I think you'll have a million.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: And she she had a kind of a neat neat idea.
- 25:37SPEAKER_03: She was like, um, so you know, we don't want to put anybody in the poorhouse as far as donations go.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: So, but you know, if you could if you could swing uh twenty-one dollars and twelve cents.
- 25:50SPEAKER_14: That's awesome.
- 25:51SPEAKER_14: Right?
- 25:52SPEAKER_03: So she's like, just make a donation for 2112.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: And and and you know, put that.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I yeah, I don't think they'll have um.
- 25:59SPEAKER_05: No, they'll they'll raise that easy.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no problem.
- 26:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: So um all good things coming from the rush camp.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's awesome.
- 26:07SPEAKER_03: I can't wait.
- 26:08SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm excited to see.
- 26:09SPEAKER_05: I am too.
- 26:10SPEAKER_05: They're not I mean, like I said, there's they're they're Canada, US, and Mexico.
- 26:15SPEAKER_05: That's all they're doing.
- 26:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:16SPEAKER_05: That's it.
- 26:17SPEAKER_05: Which is which is all you need.
- 26:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:18SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 26:19SPEAKER_05: And it's the big ones.
- 26:20SPEAKER_05: I mean, I think the closest one to us is like you could go to either New York.
- 26:24SPEAKER_05: They're doing shows in New York and they're also doing shows in Toronto.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 26:30SPEAKER_05: Which is if I was going to go, if I was gonna go, it would be a Toronto because that's the home crowd.
- 26:36SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 26:36SPEAKER_05: So you know that's gonna be the best show.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: Oh, well that's good, those are tickets are gonna be hard to get though.
- 26:39SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, I'm not I'm not I'm not saying I'm going because that's no way I'm gonna be able to afford it.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: So they're not coming to Boston, huh?
- 26:46SPEAKER_05: No.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: They've already put the tour dates out?
- 26:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: I didn't know.
- 26:51SPEAKER_05: Um Like I said, there's only there's only six or seven cities on it.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Maybe I did know uh that they put those tour dates out.
- 26:58SPEAKER_05: But like I said, there's there's very few cities, but they're they're playing two to three shows each city.
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it's uh Rush has announced that uh they'd like to add another musician or two.
- 27:14SPEAKER_05: I'm sure they've done that.
- 27:16SPEAKER_03: To expand the sound a wee bit and free up Alex and I in order to show off some of our fancy new dance steps.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: You know, I still haven't seen that.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: Um there's a uh Getty Lee has a couple of documentaries out.
- 27:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he's got a show called uh something about bass players.
- 27:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's a I saw the first episode was with Les Claypool.
- 27:37SPEAKER_05: Oh, so it's not just a one one.
- 27:38SPEAKER_05: No, it's it's like a series.
- 27:40SPEAKER_05: Oh, I think.
- 27:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, it's not like one, it's just like a series of like, you know, like an hour-long show.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: I have not seen that yet.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: He's got another one, I thought.
- 27:49SPEAKER_03: Another documentary type thing.
- 27:52SPEAKER_03: Um maybe I'm thinking of Dave Girl, but I don't I don't think so.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: I th I I think Getty Lee had two documentaries as well.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: I also you have his uh book.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: Don't give it to me, because I still haven't read in any of the other ones.
- 28:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know.
- 28:07SPEAKER_05: You still have my Michael McDonald's until I get Michael McDonald back, you're gonna get it.
- 28:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but uh My F in Life, I haven't read that yet.
- 28:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's a great book.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:15SPEAKER_05: So um and I'm not And it's a it's an even better audiobook because he's reading it.
- 28:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:19SPEAKER_05: So it's fantastic.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: So I uh I will freely admit that I haven't been the biggest rush fan.
- 28:27SPEAKER_03: I'm not I'm not a rabid rabid rush fan like you.
- 28:30SPEAKER_03: I'm not actually really into progressive rock.
- 28:34SPEAKER_03: I mean I I I like it and I appreciate it to for for what it is and everything.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: And I and there are things that I really love about Rush.
- 28:43SPEAKER_03: Um but I'll admit that I I uh warmed up to them only recently.
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: Um I like all the hits, obviously.
- 28:51SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, you know, but I I I wasn't never I didn't never ever do a uh deep dive in into Rush.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: Uh and I'm not saying this w will make me take a deep dive into Rush, but you know, any time that that um something like this happens where the music lives on, the music is always gonna live on, but but they're taking it and doing something.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: Right that you know, I champion that.
- 29:17SPEAKER_03: I think that's awesome.
- 29:18SPEAKER_05: Actually, the while you're while you were thinking about it, I think that other documentary you did was about baseball.
- 29:25SPEAKER_07: Uh uh because he has a collection.
- 29:27SPEAKER_07: He he is a huge baseball fan.
- 29:29SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 29:30SPEAKER_05: Have you he's got a he's got like a like a case, a glass case.
- 29:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's probably the length of this room, just full of different baseball stuff.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Oh it's it's amazing.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: I I think you're right.
- 29:41SPEAKER_03: I think because I I remember seeing the trailer.
- 29:43SPEAKER_05: Of course, he's got his other book, you know, the big big beautiful book of bases.
- 29:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 29:48SPEAKER_05: I gave it to Shane for his birthday one year.
- 29:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 29:51SPEAKER_05: So he's got that.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: No, that you're right.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: I think it is it is the baseball one.
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of.
- 29:58SPEAKER_03: Um so anyway, uh, all good things coming from Rush.
- 30:02SPEAKER_05: Yay Rush! Yay Rush, yay, Anika or Annika.
- 30:06SPEAKER_05: I'm sure we'll figure out I'm sure somebody will say it.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Um the other question I have, of course I just got rid of it.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: Did we maybe uh because I told I I I promoted the fact that we were going to hear a um new song from Well, you said something about Megadeth.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: But did we already do that?
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: Did we already play the new song from Megadeth on the Python?
- 30:29SPEAKER_05: We did one, but I don't know what I don't know if there's another one or when did we do it?
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: Because it was a while ago.
- 30:35SPEAKER_05: It was back when they they announced that the this was gonna be the f it.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: Okay, so this but this one came down came out five days ago.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: So maybe we haven't done this one.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: Um this is one called Tipping Point.
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 30:47SPEAKER_03: Um alright, so the uh the first single.
- 30:50SPEAKER_03: Well that says that it's the first single.
- 30:52SPEAKER_03: Maybe we've already played it.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: Um they're gonna release the album on January 23rd.
- 30:59SPEAKER_03: Uh it's textbook Megadeth.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: I'll just play it.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: And if it sounds familiar, then we've already done it.
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: Um that's the that's the best I can say.
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 31:13SPEAKER_03: I think we have.
- 31:18SPEAKER_03: No?
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: Maybe not.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: No, I don't think so.
- 32:31SPEAKER_07: Kind of a creepy video, but that's a typical Degan Death video.
- 32:35SPEAKER_07: It's a bad stuff.
- 32:37SPEAKER_03: So it's it says uh the band members are performing inside a dilapidated prison.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: Mustaine is assailed by monsters as he sits in a in an electric chair.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: A reference to his contributions to Metallica's Ride the Lightning, perhaps.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: Could be, yeah.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: And is chased by demons that seemingly appear out of thin air as he tries to escape the prison.
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: This is another, you know.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: I I was never a big Megadeth fan.
- 33:09SPEAKER_05: Uh well, you know, Megadeth has unfortunately always been overshadowed, of course, by Metallica, of course.
- 33:17SPEAKER_05: And the only the only differen the only really difference between the two is that Dave stayed more thrash than Metallica has.
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 33:28SPEAKER_05: You know what I'm saying?
- 33:29SPEAKER_05: Because this this is a typical Megadeth song, you know, you know, the super fast riffs and everything.
- 33:35SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 33:36SPEAKER_05: You know, Metallica's gotten more into like, you know, more and I think that was Cliff Burton's um influence, which then turned into James Hetfield.
- 33:47SPEAKER_05: But um, but yeah, Megadeth has always just been like straight up just thrash.
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:52SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 33:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:53SPEAKER_05: They never went that whole, you know, unforgiving.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 33:57SPEAKER_05: You know, that that that's I mean, they did uh what was that song?
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: Uh Tout Lamon.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:02SPEAKER_05: I mean, that was kind of a slow dam, you know.
- 34:04SPEAKER_05: I mean, that was slow for definitely for Megadeth.
- 34:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 34:07SPEAKER_05: So, but I mean it they never really capitalized on it.
- 34:10SPEAKER_05: It wasn't a huge song.
- 34:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:11SPEAKER_05: Because everybody's just like, oh, stay mistaken, super angry, you know.
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: So I don't know.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: Um, so anyway, that uh that comes out.
- 34:21SPEAKER_03: I don't know if he's still angry about the whole Metallica thing.
- 34:23SPEAKER_05: Oh, I think he's I don't know if that it's probably still there.
- 34:26SPEAKER_05: I mean, publicly they've been like, oh, we're okay with it.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: But I think still deep down he's still didn't he do an interview with Sean Ryan?
- 34:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:35SPEAKER_03: Uh and and he yeah, no, he's still bitter.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's still, yeah.
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: I I get it.
- 34:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:39SPEAKER_05: I mean, because that could have been him.
- 34:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:41SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 34:42SPEAKER_05: You know, but he was a major tool back then.
- 34:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:45SPEAKER_05: Sorry, you know, he was you know, you know, just so, you know.
- 34:49SPEAKER_05: But he's cleaned up his accents then.
- 34:51SPEAKER_05: I mean, you know, he's and he's gone on to be I mean, yeah, he's not he's not, you know, Metallica famous, but I mean he's still famous in his own right.
- 34:59SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 35:00SPEAKER_05: So I don't know.
- 35:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, I mean I like Met I like them both.
- 35:03SPEAKER_05: I mean, I like Megadeth, I like Metallica.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: So But this is you know, so he says uh the end of Megadeth.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I get it.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: I get it too.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: I don't necessarily believe it.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: That's hard to do.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: I don't necessarily believe it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_03: I don't believe it.
- 35:20SPEAKER_03: Who's on the phone?
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Hold on one second.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: Um I am in the middle of something so like you're back in the time.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: Um I said yesterday.
- 35:58SPEAKER_03: It's a it's a it was a survey.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: Olivia Olivia Matter.
- 36:12SPEAKER_03: Does she live here?
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: Does Olivia matter live here?
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: I said not available right now.
- 36:23SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: And then you should have been like, can I get your input?
- 36:35SPEAKER_15: Like that's what you that's when you can have somebody else's input.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: That's when you say, No, you can't get my input, but you can have my output.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: Hey, tell me if this sounds like a phone hanging up.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Okay, now get out of here.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: Weirdo.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: Um that was a nice little interruption.
- 36:57SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 36:57SPEAKER_05: That was it was okay.
- 36:58SPEAKER_05: Always always welcome.
- 36:59SPEAKER_03: Always welcome.
- 37:00SPEAKER_05: Always welcome here on the O'Brien and Doug New and Improved Podcast.
- 37:03SPEAKER_05: Always welcome.
- 37:04SPEAKER_05: Always welcome.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: Uh welcome.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Welcome.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: Welcome.
- 37:07SPEAKER_03: Last week we didn't do this.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: So this week, do we have a um everything?
- 37:12SPEAKER_05: Well, he did, he did send the uh he did send his answer.
- 37:15SPEAKER_03: So let's do this.
- 37:16SPEAKER_05: So let's do this.
- 37:18SPEAKER_07: Hold on.
- 37:19SPEAKER_07: No, it's not working.
- 37:20SPEAKER_07: Well, it is.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: I just have to remember, but the same.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: I just have to remember to turn things up on our new contraption here.
- 37:39SPEAKER_05: So we didn't even do um we didn't do a her judginess uh from the she did from the week before, but she had nothing to judge on this week, so right.
- 37:52SPEAKER_03: But what so we did do that last l on the last part of this.
- 37:56SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 37:56unknown: Okay.
- 37:57SPEAKER_03: But she had nothing to judge this week, so we're just gonna go with a current question, right?
- 38:01SPEAKER_03: The the present question.
- 38:03SPEAKER_05: Which was uh if I remember right.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: Something about a truck.
- 38:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um da da.
- 38:14SPEAKER_05: What is the most American blue collar, sweating, hard work, quitting time, old truck montage song?
- 38:20SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 38:21SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 38:22SPEAKER_05: So this is what cousin Larry said.
- 38:25SPEAKER_05: And he apologized profusely.
- 38:27SPEAKER_05: But hey, you know what?
- 38:29SPEAKER_05: But you know, he's got a like I said, it was his job.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: And this is the end of the fiscal year.
- 38:35SPEAKER_05: So everything, everybody's, you know, filing for extensions, and it's been crazy.
- 38:39SPEAKER_05: Larry, you don't have to apologize.
- 38:40SPEAKER_05: Never apologize, my friend.
- 38:42SPEAKER_05: We understand.
- 38:44SPEAKER_05: Uh, so this is what he's Don't let it happen again.
- 38:46SPEAKER_05: That's what you're fired! You're fired.
- 38:50SPEAKER_05: Uh so mixtape.
- 38:55SPEAKER_05: A couple of songs come to mind right away: Working Man Blues by Merle Haggard, and Working for a Living by Huey Lewis in the news.
- 39:02SPEAKER_05: But I think I will go with Baba O'Reilly, by the who.
- 39:05SPEAKER_05: The lines out here in the fields, I work for my meals, I get back into my living.
- 39:09SPEAKER_05: That sounds like some hard working to me.
- 39:12SPEAKER_05: Honorable mention to Brooks Brooks and Dunn's hardworking man.
- 39:20SPEAKER_03: Did I misunderstand the question?
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: Because I picked something completely different.
- 39:30SPEAKER_05: You just dropped it.
- 39:31SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 39:32SPEAKER_05: You misunderstood that.
- 39:34SPEAKER_05: You misunderstood gravity.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: What is the most American blue collar sweating hard work quitting time old truck montage song?
- 39:46SPEAKER_03: Hmm, okay.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: This is an American, Larry, but whatever.
- 39:58SPEAKER_05: They're called lorries in England.
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: Out here in the fields.
- 40:13SPEAKER_05: See, I get it, cuz he No, I get it.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: No, I get it.
- 40:17SPEAKER_03: I just I think I went a completely different direction.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: Which is okay.
- 40:20SPEAKER_03: That makes it fun.
- 40:22SPEAKER_05: That makes fun that's what makes it fun.
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: All right, what do you got?
- 40:35SPEAKER_05: Well, he he mentioned mine.
- 40:37SPEAKER_05: Working man blues by Bro Haggard.
- 40:39SPEAKER_05: Oh, there you go.
- 40:43SPEAKER_05: So I got lucky.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: What if I I have I probably have that in my hold on a second here.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: Let's do this.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: Let's go back here and I'm good.
- 40:53SPEAKER_05: Let's go back.
- 40:53SPEAKER_05: Let's go way back.
- 40:55SPEAKER_05: What was that from?
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Let's go way back.
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: Way back when.
- 40:59SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 40:59SPEAKER_05: You got me friendly giant?
- 41:02SPEAKER_05: Let's go.
- 41:03SPEAKER_05: Look up.
- 41:03SPEAKER_05: Oh no, his was a look up, way up.
- 41:16SPEAKER_10: It's a big job just getting by with nine kids and a wife.
- 41:22SPEAKER_10: But I've been a working man, danger all my life, and I'll keep on working.
- 41:30SPEAKER_10: Long's my two hands are fit to use.
- 41:36SPEAKER_10: I'll drink my beer in a tavern.
- 41:39SPEAKER_10: Sing a little bit of these working man blues.
- 41:45SPEAKER_10: I keep my nose on the grindstone.
- 41:48SPEAKER_10: Work hard every day.
- 41:50SPEAKER_10: I might get a little tide on the weekend.
- 41:53SPEAKER_10: After I draw my paper, I go back working.
- 41:57SPEAKER_10: Come Monday morning, I'm right back with the crew.
- 42:04SPEAKER_10: I drank a little beer that evening.
- 42:06SPEAKER_10: Sang a little bit of these working man blues.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Both songs awesome.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: Nah.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: Baba O'Reilly with Working Man Blues.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: I went a complet, like I said, a completely different direction.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna read it.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: Did you pick Taylor Swift?
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: I did not.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: I did not.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: What is the most American blue-collar sweating hard work quitting time old truck montage song?
- 42:28SPEAKER_05: Alright, so I want you to picture like you go with that song from uh the Chevy commercials.
- 42:34SPEAKER_05: Yes, I did.
- 42:37SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 42:38SPEAKER_06: Pop Stinger.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: Like a rock.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: Like a rock.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: I was I was just gonna say, picture like uh Michael Bay directed, you know, like uh all those slow motion switch.
- 42:51SPEAKER_05: My favorite is always the one where like the main characters are like standing in the middle, and then he pans the camera around them like in a 360, and I'm always like, right, eh, classic Michael Bay.
- 43:02SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: But I mean, I never felt that strong.
- 43:06SPEAKER_05: Except in this in this in this version, it would be like a truck.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 43:12SPEAKER_03: As soon as it's that, you know, old truck montage song, uh those Chevy commercials popped in my head.
- 43:19SPEAKER_03: That's the first thing I thought of.
- 43:21SPEAKER_05: It's uh it's iconic.
- 43:22SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, it's iconic.
- 43:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 43:24SPEAKER_05: I think that's the only reason Chevy sold so many trucks is because of this.
- 43:32SPEAKER_03: But I mean hard working.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: My hands were steady.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: Eyes were clear and bright.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Alright, so we're gonna do The Future.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: Now we're gonna do Future.
- 43:46SPEAKER_03: The Future.
- 43:48SPEAKER_05: Oh Future.
- 43:50SPEAKER_05: It's not a like our new uh tuma.
- 43:55SPEAKER_05: Oh, this'll be a good one.
- 43:56SPEAKER_05: This will be nostalgic.
- 43:59SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna turn this down.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: So what is the what is the question?
- 44:03SPEAKER_05: Play the song you jammed to on the day you got your driver's license.
- 44:11SPEAKER_05: Oh my.
- 44:12SPEAKER_05: I mean, I don't remember, but I mean you can pick something.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: Well, let's just reminisce about getting our driver's licenses first.
- 44:21SPEAKER_03: I got my driver's license, I took my test in my mother's red Chevy Cavalier hatchback.
- 44:30SPEAKER_05: That thing was awesome.
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: Uh I want to say it was like a That was like a late 70s, early 80s.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, I don't know it was no, I don't think it was late 70s, but uh maybe like a 86, 87 Chevrolet uh Cavalier hatchback.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: It was red.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: And it was a stick.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 44:53SPEAKER_03: And back then, like if you took your test, you know, you you had to uh park on a hill with a with a the emergency brake, you know, and then be able to take off the emergency brake and take off up the hill.
- 45:07SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 45:07SPEAKER_03: And most people took their tests in an automatic.
- 45:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:10SPEAKER_03: You know, today everybody takes their tests in an automatic.
- 45:12SPEAKER_05: Nobody takes their own.
- 45:14SPEAKER_03: So you know, taking off the emergency brake and then pushing the gas pad.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: I don't even think they test parking on a hill anymore, do they?
- 45:21SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 45:21SPEAKER_05: I I it's been so long since I talked to somebody that just got their driver's license.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: Speaking of that, Finn got his driver's license.
- 45:27SPEAKER_03: I saw that! Good for him.
- 45:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and you know, he's only 15.
- 45:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:31SPEAKER_03: So it's a work that he Yeah, you can only use it for work.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: He can only use it for work or actually, I think um what he did was he made a mistake.
- 45:42SPEAKER_03: He did it for education, so he can go to and from school.
- 45:46SPEAKER_03: But he's gonna use it to go to work too.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: Um Why not?
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: But I told him, I said, you know, that means you can't take it out to Hannah's.
- 45:53SPEAKER_03: Yes, I can.
- 45:54SPEAKER_03: No, that's not work or school.
- 45:58SPEAKER_05: I don't know what you're learning out to Hannah's.
- 46:01SPEAKER_03: Don't want to know.
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 46:03SPEAKER_03: But uh so so before his test, you know, I was like, well, why don't you we should take the car over?
- 46:09SPEAKER_05: Uh unless he's going over to Hannah's to mow the lawn.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 46:13SPEAKER_03: You could always say that too.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: I was just going out of my girlfriend's house to do the lawn.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's December.
- 46:19SPEAKER_03: I will tell you this though.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: Hannah lives about one minute from her his business partner.
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Oh where he has to go to work.
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: That works.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: So it works out well.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: So uh he was like, I I said, you should you should go over early and practice parallel parking.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: Because you haven't done that yet.
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: Or a lot.
- 46:40SPEAKER_03: You haven't done a lot of parallel parking.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: And I got to thinking, why is parallel parking still on the driver's test?
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: Because nobody does it.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: No, but you know it shows it shows control of the control of the I suppose that's true, but yeah, am I the only one?
- 46:56SPEAKER_03: Like if you see a parallel uh a spot where you could parallel park, do you park in there?
- 47:02SPEAKER_03: Or do you just drive around and look for another one?
- 47:05SPEAKER_05: I just drive around and look for another one.
- 47:06SPEAKER_05: Because I don't have that kind of time to sit up the bumper.
- 47:10SPEAKER_05: Especially if you're on Main Street.
- 47:11SPEAKER_05: Exactly, because people are coming, you know, I get I get mad when people are trying to parallel park on Main Street, and I'm like, just drive around, you freaking lazy bum.
- 47:20SPEAKER_05: I haven't parallel parked since I learned how to drive the five-ton trucks in the Marines.
- 47:24SPEAKER_05: They made us parallel park those bad boys.
- 47:26SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 47:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I haven't done that since.
- 47:28SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 47:29SPEAKER_05: Last time I parallel parked.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: But I again, you don't need it.
- 47:33SPEAKER_05: I mean, it's I suppose Well, they have the fancy ones do it for you now.
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:37unknown: Yeah.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: Smack cats.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: Um it's I think it's a matter of time before that's taken off the test.
- 47:41SPEAKER_05: It probably yeah.
- 47:43SPEAKER_05: They I you know, they might not even test it anymore.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Well, you know, uh so when one of one of my other kids uh took their test, maybe it was Eli, I can't remember if it was Eli or Jude.
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: They do something called straight line backing.
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: Where you have to back up straight.
- 48:00SPEAKER_03: Uh I never did that.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: I never did that.
- 48:03SPEAKER_03: But it's just weird, you know.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I mean, change with the times, I suppose.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: I guess.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: You know.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Or they call it something different.
- 48:10SPEAKER_05: It could be, yeah.
- 48:11SPEAKER_05: Um, I think maybe we did and we didn't even realize it.
- 48:14SPEAKER_05: Or I can't remember because that was like 40 years ago, right?
- 48:17SPEAKER_03: So I don't know.
- 48:19SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 48:20SPEAKER_05: But I think that I think that's a fun question.

- 50:10SPEAKER_03: Uh, and we're about to climb the wall of tunes.
- 50:12SPEAKER_03: Let's start that music now.
- 50:17SPEAKER_03: Wrong song.
- 50:19SPEAKER_05: What was the Barney song?
- 50:20SPEAKER_05: Isn't that the Barney song?
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: It was the Barney song, yes.
- 50:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: Uh and while I climb the wall of tunes.
- 50:26SPEAKER_03: I'm going to read a read a Beatles story.
- 50:28SPEAKER_05: Yay! Right.
- 50:29SPEAKER_05: Here we go.
- 50:30SPEAKER_05: So this week's Beatles song is Every Little Thing from Beatles for Sale.
- 50:35SPEAKER_05: Uh Every Little Thing was written by Paul for Jane Asher.
- 50:39SPEAKER_05: With much the same theme as things we said today.
- 50:42SPEAKER_05: Very much of its time.
- 50:44SPEAKER_05: It tells the tale of a lucky guy whose girl loves him so much he does everything she does everything for him.
- 50:51SPEAKER_05: The girl's needs are not even considered.
- 50:54SPEAKER_05: The assumption being that she should find her fulfillment in serving her man.
- 51:01SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 51:03SPEAKER_05: If we had fans, we would be getting some hate mail on.
- 51:07SPEAKER_05: Um ironically, it was precisely the attitudes expressed in the song that Jane Asher later challenged when she told Paul she needed to find fulfillment in her acting career.
- 51:19SPEAKER_05: It wasn't enough for her to be the girlfriend of a desirable pop star.
- 51:23SPEAKER_05: She wanted to make her own mark in the world of the arts.
- 51:26SPEAKER_05: Although this song was credited solely to Paul, who had come up with the basic track the basic for the track in his room at Wimpole Street, John remembered that he might have thrown something in too.
- 51:39SPEAKER_05: It was an attempt at writing a single, but it became an album track.
- 51:43SPEAKER_05: So I like this song.
- 51:45SPEAKER_05: Me too.
- 52:00SPEAKER_13: She does.
- 52:00SPEAKER_05: I know I've always I've always been weirded out by that.
- 52:08SPEAKER_05: Tom's yeah, it doesn't it doesn't make any sense.
- 52:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah to me.
- 52:12SPEAKER_05: I mean why I'm happy.
- 52:15SPEAKER_05: I'm sure George Martin was like, oh yeah, let's put let's put that in, you know, and I'm thinking why?
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: Do you think George Martin did, or do you think it was Ringo?
- 52:23SPEAKER_05: Well, I'm sure it was Ringo, but somebody had to be like, hey Ringo, do this, Ringo do this.
- 52:30SPEAKER_07: Ringo's like, why?
- 52:31SPEAKER_07: Well it does stand out.
- 52:32SPEAKER_07: It does, it definitely does stand out, but it just it doesn't fit the song, I don't think.
- 52:37SPEAKER_13: She does, she does.
- 52:40SPEAKER_13: I mean, I get it, but I mean to me it's just And you know the thing she does.
- 52:47SPEAKER_13: She does.
- 52:48SPEAKER_16: I actually like it.
- 52:48SPEAKER_16: I think I don't know.
- 52:49SPEAKER_05: I just it just weirds me out because it just doesn't seem to fit anything else in the song.
- 52:53SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 52:54SPEAKER_05: But it's the Beatles.
- 52:56SPEAKER_05: I trust I trust the process.
- 52:57SPEAKER_03: So um yeah.
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: No, uh that's from Beatles for Sale?
- 53:02SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: You know that I don't have that album.
- 53:05SPEAKER_06: What?
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: I don't.
- 53:08SPEAKER_06: What?
- 53:08SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 53:10SPEAKER_07: What is wrong with you?
- 53:11SPEAKER_07: That's crazy.
- 53:12SPEAKER_07: You need to have every single Beatle album ever made!
- 53:15SPEAKER_03: Do I though?
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: You should.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: I have a lot of them.
- 53:18SPEAKER_03: You had to have them all.
- 53:20SPEAKER_03: Um Well, I guess I guess I should work on that.
- 53:23SPEAKER_05: I don't have the uh you get you have all the Van Halen's.
- 53:26SPEAKER_05: You have all the Bon Jovi.
- 53:28SPEAKER_05: Well, not all the Bon Jovies.
- 53:29SPEAKER_05: No, not all the Bon Jovies.
- 53:30SPEAKER_05: So you gotta have all the Beetleys.
- 53:31SPEAKER_05: Actually, no.
- 53:32SPEAKER_03: I do have all the Bon Jovies.
- 53:34SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna uh apologize to your daughter ahead of time.
- 53:37SPEAKER_03: Well are you sending her a text saying, I flipped you off, I'm sorry?
- 53:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:42SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna be like that that middle finger was not meant at you.
- 53:48SPEAKER_03: I was flipping myself off.
- 53:50SPEAKER_05: I was flipping off camera, Doug.
- 53:56SPEAKER_05: Hey, just to let you know.
- 54:00SPEAKER_05: You seriously said you're a message.
- 54:02SPEAKER_05: That then I flipped off the camera.
- 54:09SPEAKER_16: You know, I think you did make it clear in the video.
- 54:11SPEAKER_05: I did, but I'm just you know me.
- 54:13SPEAKER_05: I just I gotta apologize.
- 54:18SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 54:19SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna let you know.
- 54:20SPEAKER_05: I was getting rid of it.
- 54:26SPEAKER_05: She's gonna like because he was being here.
- 54:42SPEAKER_03: That's so funny that you're doing that.
- 54:46SPEAKER_03: I'm time stamping this too, because this will be a promo.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: Smiley.
- 54:51SPEAKER_06: I just want to see what she says.
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: Oh, she'll she'll like laugh out loud.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 54:57SPEAKER_03: Uh all right, I have an album.
- 55:00SPEAKER_03: Uh I I almost think we've done it before, but I don't care.
- 55:03SPEAKER_03: Well, we'll find out.
- 55:04SPEAKER_03: Uh is it a band?
- 55:05SPEAKER_05: Oh, sorry.
- 55:06SPEAKER_05: I I I think you jumped the gun.
- 55:08SPEAKER_05: You jumped the gun.
- 55:09SPEAKER_05: Well, I'm so excited about the new the new board.
- 55:12SPEAKER_05: Contraption, yes.
- 55:14SPEAKER_03: Uh let the guessing begin.
- 55:17SPEAKER_05: She has some intro.
- 55:19SPEAKER_05: Bumper thing there.
- 55:20SPEAKER_03: We will eventually.
- 55:21SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: Uh is it a band?
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, wait, do you actually hold on.
- 55:26SPEAKER_03: Let me see.
- 55:28SPEAKER_05: One of those new ones with the scratches.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: Uh this one.
- 55:32SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 55:33SPEAKER_05: There we go.
- 55:34SPEAKER_05: That's cool.
- 55:35SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 55:36SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 55:36SPEAKER_05: Alright, I'm I'm psyched up to guess.
- 55:38SPEAKER_03: Wait, do you like that one for that?
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: Or do you like Oh no, no, it's that one.
- 55:43SPEAKER_03: Oh, wait, wait, wait.
- 55:44SPEAKER_03: Well, there's too much going on.
- 55:45SPEAKER_03: This one.
- 55:46SPEAKER_03: I don't like it.
- 55:48SPEAKER_03: No, I like the other one.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: You like this one?
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: Let the guess let the let the guessing begin.
- 55:58SPEAKER_05: That's cool.
- 55:58SPEAKER_05: I like that.
- 55:59unknown: Woo! Yeah!
- 56:00SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 56:01SPEAKER_05: Uh, is it a band?
- 56:02SPEAKER_07: Uh I had to think for a second which I've got.
- 56:05SPEAKER_07: Oh, I forgot which one I got.
- 56:06SPEAKER_07: It is a band.
- 56:07SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 56:08SPEAKER_05: Rock band?
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: You hesitated.
- 56:12SPEAKER_03: I did.
- 56:12SPEAKER_03: Uh it's uh this is why I think we've done it before.
- 56:16SPEAKER_03: Um it's it they were a uh we're kind of a progressive rock band.
- 56:22SPEAKER_03: Turned into like a pop band.
- 56:27SPEAKER_05: Interesting.
- 56:29SPEAKER_05: Uh popularity.
- 56:32SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say I'm gonna say more popular.
- 57:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean uh and then there were three.
- 57:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, is it uh Genesis?
- 57:26SPEAKER_05: It is.
- 57:29SPEAKER_03: Oh, my big things are ringing right.
- 57:31SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 57:32SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 57:33SPEAKER_03: Um yes.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we've done we've done Genesis.
- 57:36SPEAKER_03: Um but we've probably done this album too.
- 57:39SPEAKER_03: Um but that's okay.
- 57:40SPEAKER_03: I don't care anymore.
- 57:42SPEAKER_03: This is the album.
- 57:45SPEAKER_05: I don't know if we've done that or not.
- 57:46SPEAKER_03: Genesis.
- 57:47SPEAKER_03: Turn it on again.
- 57:48SPEAKER_03: The hits.
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 57:51SPEAKER_03: So, um well, the title cut is one of Genesis.
- 57:56SPEAKER_06: Genesis.
- 57:57SPEAKER_03: It's actually one of my favorite Genesis songs.
- 57:59SPEAKER_03: Uh, this one right here.
- 58:02SPEAKER_05: This will be the third time we've done Genesis.
- 58:05SPEAKER_03: So we must have done this.
- 58:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, probably.
- 58:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 58:07SPEAKER_05: But I don't remember.
- 58:08SPEAKER_05: That was one probably a long time ago.
- 58:11SPEAKER_05: I should date these.
- 58:29SPEAKER_05: Would you say they were more popular in the 80s?
- 58:31SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 58:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:32SPEAKER_05: Well, especially after Peter Gabriel left.
- 58:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 58:36SPEAKER_05: Well, I think they went they went in more pop a pop direction.
- 58:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, which was short for popular.
- 58:45SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 58:46SPEAKER_03: So I think I think they had a bigger audience then.
- 58:49SPEAKER_03: But they did lose a lot of people too.
- 58:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:08SPEAKER_03: Of course there's this was huge.
- 59:11SPEAKER_03: This album was huge.
- 59:14SPEAKER_03: Invisible touch.
- 59:17SPEAKER_03: Um, which also had this song on it.
- 59:22SPEAKER_05: Ah, one of my favorites, right?
- 59:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:31SPEAKER_03: I absolutely love this band.
- 59:34SPEAKER_03: And also because it's my childhood.
- 59:38SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 59:38SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 59:39SPEAKER_03: Genesis.
- 59:40SPEAKER_03: Nostalgic.
- 59:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:41SPEAKER_05: Uh this was on- I mean, we we didn't understand what Genesis was when we were a kid when we were first learned, you know, listening to this.
- 59:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:50SPEAKER_05: Because they were a completely different thing at this point.
- 59:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:55SPEAKER_05: You know, if you go back to 70s Genesis, then you're like, whoa.
- 59:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:59SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_05: Odd.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_03: Some of it was really odd.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_05: It was really weird.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_03: Uh, this was on that same album.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_05: Oh, another good one.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_03: Tonight, tonight, tonight.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_03: Uh, I think uh this one was on the album before that.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_03: I think this was the album before.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_05: See, I I would say this just could have come from the 70s.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_05: It just got that 70s feel to it.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: Keyboard sound, maybe?
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_05: Maybe.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_05: But I think it's like the whole thing, the whole vibe of it.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_05: It's like 70s to me.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_05: Maybe just, you know, maybe it's stupid, I don't know.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_13: Well, yeah.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_13: But that's what I mean.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_05: Stupid is normal.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_03: Uh I always thought this was just uh maybe I didn't.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_03: Maybe I'm smoking something.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_03: But I always thought I thought I always thought this was just this one was just Phil Collins.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think I did too.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_05: Cause so many of his solo stuff sounds like it could have been a Genesis.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but this is this is Genesis.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_05: See, this sounds like something he would have done on his own.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_03: I want to find a way.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_03: And I I know there is a way.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_03: Because you know, I started getting into uh to get Phil Collins on the podcast.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_03: I don't think that'll ever happen.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_03: It'd be cool though.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: It would be cool.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: Um, but like um ringtones for my phone, right?
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_03: I want to get so this song right here, mama.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_03: I want to get like this.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_14: So when my mother calls Where is it?
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_03: You know what I'm looking for?
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_03: No idea.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_10: Where is it?
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_03: Where my where my mother called.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_03: This is still the progressive era, but with without Peter Gabriel.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: Um this one I'm pretty sure is.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_03: This one doesn't have Gabriel though, I don't think.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_03: I know what I like in your wardrobe.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_03: You ever heard that one?
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_03: Do I?
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_08: It's one o'clock in time for lunch.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_05: Nope.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_05: I don't know this one.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_05: Maybe that is Gabriel.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_05: Sunday's time.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_05: It sounds like a Gabriel play.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_08: I can always hear them talk.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he's in the he's in the chicken, wake up, we got the tiny you go.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_03: So this is Genesis that now this is this is 70s Genesis.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_03: This was the Genesis that I was not into very much.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_05: Right, yeah, me neither.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_03: And the it's funny because I really liked uh Peter Gabriel's solo stuff.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_03: But I didn't like any of his stuff with Genesis.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: It was just That's weird.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_03: That's odd.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_03: It is odd.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_03: Anyway, so that's the album.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_03: Uh Genesis, turn it on again, the hits.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_03: And again, I'm pretty sure that we've we've done it before.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_03: Probably, but which is entirely okay.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_05: Which is fine.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_03: It's fine.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_03: Um, alright, so that is episode 262.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_03: What is that?
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_05: What some kind of knob?
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_15: That's what she said.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_15: I don't know what it is.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_15: I think it goes to that.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_15: I think you moved my I just want you to go to wait, I don't know.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_16: I just want you to know that that's on video.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_16: What?
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_16: I said, what's that?
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_07: And you look down.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_07: I don't know, some kind of knob.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_06: It's my junk.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_05: Well, thank you.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_05: Finally somebody noticed.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_06: I don't know what this is to.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_06: I have no idea.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_06: What thing?
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_06: That oh this thing?
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_06: I think it does.
