- 0:01Speaker 1: Nicely done, carl Ton Katz in the Morning News ninety
- 0:04Speaker 1: three WIBC. My name is Craig Collins, filling in. Thrilled
- 0:08Speaker 1: to be with you, thrilled to have Matt and Carl
- 0:10Speaker 1: hanging out with me in the morning too quickly we
- 0:13Speaker 1: will do a popcorn moment. I'm brought to you by
- 0:15Speaker 1: Booer Remodeling Company Booer Building dot Com. It's time for
- 0:20Speaker 1: the popcorn moment now, correct, Carl, Right, Okay, thank you buddy.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I want to make sure this popcorn moment once again
- 0:26Speaker 1: comes from Scott Jennings. I'm CNN, who is awesome, more
- 0:30Speaker 1: and more awesome now than he used to be in
- 0:33Speaker 1: the past. Actually, there's audio from a couple of days
- 0:35Speaker 1: ago where he admitted that he used to not like
- 0:38Speaker 1: Trump and there was a big hit piece against him
- 0:40Speaker 1: on the Daily Show, and now why he likes Trump,
- 0:43Speaker 1: and I thought that was great. That's not the audio
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm about to play. You can look for it. He's
- 0:47Speaker 1: crapping all over Democrats, including the people on the very
- 0:50Speaker 1: panel he's sitting on and their projections the economy was
- 0:53Speaker 1: going to turn terrible because of tariffs, because Narnett that
- 0:56Speaker 1: has yet to happen. Surprise, surprise, they were all wrong
- 1:00Speaker 1: about a thing. Here is that popcorn moment audio, Well,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I would just like to go but I'd like to
- 1:04Speaker 1: build a DeLorean and go back to April, when everybody
- 1:08Speaker 1: here was.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Predicting likely to cause a recession.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Investment stops in a recession happens. They're not talking about
- 1:14Speaker 1: a US recession, They're talking about a global recession and
- 1:17Speaker 1: leads a recession. Eventually. They're being a reception. So I
- 1:27Speaker 1: love that it devolved into chaos right after he said that,
- 1:30Speaker 1: because yes, they all predicted that a recession was coming,
- 1:33Speaker 1: and what did not occur a recession. And in April
- 1:36Speaker 1: when all the tariffs were being talked about, they haven't
- 1:39Speaker 1: fully gone away. There's still a bunch of tariffs that exist.
- 1:42Speaker 1: There's the likelihood that stronger ones might be rolled out soon.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And a lot of countries that are making deals with
- 1:47Speaker 1: US are accepting a version of tariff some kind fifteen
- 1:51Speaker 1: percent with South Korea as a way to get into
- 1:54Speaker 1: our economy, as a way to get to our consumers.
- 1:57Speaker 2: This is good.
- 1:58Speaker 1: These are good things that are happening, and they are
- 2:00Speaker 1: upset about you called the recession.
- 2:05Speaker 2: You called it. You took your shoe off on Joe again, you.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Took your shoe up.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You you took your shoe off, and you said there
- 2:14Speaker 2: was going to be a recess.
- 2:17Speaker 1: To give a f I love that. No, guys, it's
- 2:22Speaker 1: still coming.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Uh.
- 2:24Speaker 1: The Democrats sometimes are like the person standing outside on
- 2:26Speaker 1: a pip picture perfect day and saying the storm is coming.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It's brewing people, and you're like, are you sure? Or
- 2:33Speaker 1: the guy that's just screaming it's the end of the
- 2:34Speaker 1: world and he's the only one in the corner that
- 2:36Speaker 1: seems to think that. But yes, this is absolutely a thing,
- 2:39Speaker 1: absolutely crazy. By the way, I just noticed something on
- 2:43Speaker 1: one of the live streams that you guys do on
- 2:46Speaker 1: social media. Uh, Tony Katz is on a bunch of
- 2:48Speaker 1: social media pages, but somebody asked me about the New
- 2:51Speaker 1: York Yankees. I'm wearing a Yankee hat on the live
- 2:54Speaker 1: stream and they did an amazing job last night. I
- 2:57Speaker 1: can't I can't ignore this, guys, Matt Carl apologize that
- 3:01Speaker 1: I've been distracted by Drew, one of the commenters on
- 3:03Speaker 1: the YouTube page. The Yankees came back multiple times to
- 3:07Speaker 1: win a baseball game that they had no business winning.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Because they also really tried to lose it. They made
- 3:12Speaker 1: several mistakes that made them very easily likely to lose
- 3:16Speaker 1: the game, and they still won. It was amazing. It's
- 3:18Speaker 1: one of the reasons I was up kind of late
- 3:19Speaker 1: last night watching it into the eleventh inning. But I'm glad.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I still think the Yankee should be sellers and not
- 3:25Speaker 1: buyers because I just don't think they're a championship caliber team,
- 3:28Speaker 1: which is sad to me, and I don't like saying that,
- 3:31Speaker 1: and I would like Devin Williams to be sent out
- 3:33Speaker 1: as soon as possible. But I imagine almost nobody cares
- 3:36Speaker 1: about this, right this is very Yankee baseball inside baseball,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and just me, I'm the only one who cares about this.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Mariano Rivera is the best closer ever. He is, Okay,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I just thought that. That's what I mean, my favorite
- 3:47Speaker 2: baseball player all the time. You saw forty two coming
- 3:49Speaker 2: out with the enter sand Man, who was the best?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, it was amazing.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I love that.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Great add to this whole. Is there anything else you
- 3:55Speaker 1: guys want to say about Yankees or no, no, no
- 3:58Speaker 1: idea what I'm talking about last night?
- 4:01Speaker 2: How about that? Yeah? Yeah, Clark, they one to three
- 4:04Speaker 2: in a row. I think without Kitlin Clark.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Do you think that Caitlin Clark And I know this
- 4:08Speaker 1: isn't a sports show, but I can't help it now,
- 4:09Speaker 1: do you think all the Caitlin Clark injuries are a
- 4:11Speaker 1: byproduct of the fact that she had to train all
- 4:14Speaker 1: off season to get beat up and to survive getting
- 4:17Speaker 1: beat up, Because I think, what's sad about that the
- 4:20Speaker 1: WNBA has this incredible product in Caitlin Clark that they
- 4:24Speaker 1: could market and everyone could you know, act around and
- 4:29Speaker 1: you know, help grow and then grow the whole sport,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and instead they beat the crap of her in her
- 4:34Speaker 1: rookie season. So she gets into the gym and does
- 4:37Speaker 1: as much as she can to buff herself up, which
- 4:39Speaker 1: sounds very similar to Michael Jordan to be honest. Michael
- 4:42Speaker 1: Jordan would get beat up by the Detroit Pistons, so
- 4:45Speaker 1: he eventually hit the gym hard to try to be
- 4:47Speaker 1: a different human. And I know women have different limitations
- 4:51Speaker 1: than men. I know that's crazy to say, but I
- 4:54Speaker 1: know it does exist. Are all these injuries for Clark
- 4:57Speaker 1: because of the fact that she tried to get in
- 4:59Speaker 1: better shape because she He's getting the crap kicked out
- 5:01Speaker 1: of her.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I'm not worried, Okay, okay, I'm not so sure why
- 5:05Speaker 2: she's a sitting out right now other than the injuries.
- 5:07Speaker 2: And I can't tell you why she's injured. I think
- 5:10Speaker 2: about it. I think the Fever are in a tough
- 5:12Speaker 2: spot with it because Caitlin Clark sales tickets. But at
- 5:14Speaker 2: the same time, Caitlin Clark is your future and your franchise.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So at one point do you say we have to
- 5:20Speaker 2: sell tickets or we want the health of Caitlin Clark.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I hope it's for the health of Caitlan Clark, not
- 5:25Speaker 2: just for the basketball player, but for the person. Man
- 5:27Speaker 2: oh man, do we put pressure on this person? I
- 5:30Speaker 2: mean she has of course, There's not a professional athlete
- 5:34Speaker 2: in America or the world right now is more pressure
- 5:36Speaker 2: than Caitlyn Clark. And I just hope as a human
- 5:39Speaker 2: being she's able to, you know, endure some of this,
- 5:42Speaker 2: and I'm sure she can't. I don't know anything about
- 5:44Speaker 2: Caitlin Clark other than what anybody else does, and I
- 5:47Speaker 2: just hope her full recovery. Because you hear so many things,
- 5:50Speaker 2: you look at so many different variables, and it makes
- 5:52Speaker 2: it tough for me to really say, well, this is
- 5:54Speaker 2: the reason, But I just know it's a better city
- 5:57Speaker 2: with her, And I hope that she makes a good
- 6:00Speaker 2: recovery here that's seriously working.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I hope that she makes a good recovery too. I'm
- 6:04Speaker 1: sure that it's okay if everyone values her and she
- 6:07Speaker 1: needs to value herself her health above you know, the
- 6:10Speaker 1: sports she plays, because everyone else will push an athlete
- 6:12Speaker 1: to play sooner than they want to play, or that
- 6:16Speaker 1: they should play whatever that is. At the same time,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I keep thinking about the comparisons to Jordan. I'm not
- 6:20Speaker 1: saying they play the same game. They don't, but there
- 6:24Speaker 1: are a lot of comparisons. Now, Jordan was treated early
- 6:26Speaker 1: on in the league when it was evident that he
- 6:29Speaker 1: was their best player. But like his third year Michael
- 6:32Speaker 1: Jordan was evidently better than everybody else on that court.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I think he won the Defensive Player of the Year
- 6:38Speaker 1: in eighty eight, well, winning several awards for being an
- 6:42Speaker 1: amazing offensive player, and people hated him for it. And actually,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you know what it reminds me of too. Maybe i'll
- 6:47Speaker 1: play this later. Have you guys seen the movie Air,
- 6:49Speaker 1: the movie about Nike and the Air Jordan.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Is that the one with the Golden retriever that grabs
- 6:54Speaker 2: a basketball player with a mouth. But sorry, this is
- 7:00Speaker 2: a different movie.
- 7:01Speaker 1: This is It's a different movie. There's a great speech
- 7:03Speaker 1: in the movie Air that Matt Damon delivers, So maybe
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'll play it later on in the show, just because
- 7:08Speaker 1: I love it about what people do with celebrities and
- 7:12Speaker 1: truly unique athletes like Michael Jordan or Caitlin Clark. You
- 7:16Speaker 1: build them up and then you tear them down, and
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's actually kind of sad to see. But well, we'll
- 7:20Speaker 1: maybe play that audio a little bit later on. This
- 7:22Speaker 1: is a deep dive into the world of sports. That's
- 7:24Speaker 1: the fault of your YouTube page. I blame all of
- 7:27Speaker 1: the degenerates who are on the YouTube page. I'm kidding people,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I Claudia, by the way, who do this? All right,
- 7:32Speaker 1: we'll take a break. A lot more coming up.
