- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous in Depth,
- 0:06Speaker 1: Tyler Cameron, Is this your first time coming on the
- 0:09Speaker 1: Almost Same As podcast? No, I've done. I think I
- 0:13Speaker 1: did yours when I got off the show that remember
- 0:15Speaker 1: the like for after the roast, my final ROAs ceremony
- 0:19Speaker 1: you the next morning and did a show with you
- 0:21Speaker 1: and I believe that's when I met Ashley as well.
- 0:24Speaker 1: That's uh, that's pre uh Tyler Cameron blow up. That
- 0:28Speaker 1: was like the limbo stage before life for you just exploded.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It kind of life looked quite a bit after that. Yeah, yeah,
- 0:37Speaker 1: you're you're talking about heartbreak in the next week, you know,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you know, on the cover of every magazine world. Um, well,
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's nice to have you, man, it's nice to going on. Yeah, definitely, definitely. Alright. So,
- 0:49Speaker 1: actually she just had a baby, your co host, right,
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yeah she did, so you just get me today. Um,
- 0:56Speaker 1: she's like four days past being a mom and so
- 0:59Speaker 1: everything good, everything's healthy, so healthy. So get In fact,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Jared and Ashley sent me a couple of pictures, uh
- 1:07Speaker 1: two days ago, which is cool of them because I'm
- 1:09Speaker 1: sure they're getting blown up and uh of them holding
- 1:11Speaker 1: the baby and it just it looks awesome. That's great
- 1:14Speaker 1: to hear. That's awesome. So they're busy, Um, you're busy. Okay,
- 1:17Speaker 1: we have a lot to talk about today. We have
- 1:20Speaker 1: about a half hour with you. Um if you can.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We know most of the in depths that we do
- 1:26Speaker 1: are really you get to know the human behind the show. Uh.
- 1:30Speaker 1: But and you have a lot of like I said,
- 1:32Speaker 1: stuff happening right now. Who were you before the show started?
- 1:35Speaker 1: Like what was life looking like? Oh man? I was
- 1:38Speaker 1: a uh I was just getting done my football career
- 1:41Speaker 1: you know, never made it, which is a broke jock. Uh.
- 1:45Speaker 1: You know, I uh tried and I was with the
- 1:47Speaker 1: Ravens twice you got cut before I could ever make
- 1:49Speaker 1: a hand of money and then um try doing the
- 1:53Speaker 1: Developmental League. Was doing you know, working construction, you know
- 1:56Speaker 1: full time, you know, training from five to seven, going
- 1:59Speaker 1: to work from eight to four and then training and
- 2:01Speaker 1: get from five to seven at night or six months
- 2:03Speaker 1: went to the Belomental League. Blew my shoulder. I was
- 2:05Speaker 1: like up there goes My football career went back finished,
- 2:08Speaker 1: my n b A started building the houses, had like
- 2:11Speaker 1: two undred bucks in my name, went on the show
- 2:13Speaker 1: and everything just changed. Was this I mean, at what
- 2:17Speaker 1: point then did you say, Hey, the batchlor that's an
- 2:19Speaker 1: option for me. It was actually like I was home studying,
- 2:22Speaker 1: like doing my GC tests or something like that, and uh,
- 2:27Speaker 1: I saw an ad for like the w W or whatever,
- 2:30Speaker 1: and as like as a joke, I filled it out,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like to sign up for it,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and I sent it to my boys as a group
- 2:35Speaker 1: in the group chat from wake Forest and they're all
- 2:37Speaker 1: cracking up, like dudes, find more stuff to sign up for.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So I found the Bachelorette thing. I sent the most
- 2:43Speaker 1: ridiculous stuff in as a joke again and then it
- 2:46Speaker 1: just kind of snowball from there. So it was it
- 2:48Speaker 1: was just kind of like something funny with the boys
- 2:50Speaker 1: that kind of turned into all this. So w W
- 2:53Speaker 1: did they reach out? Yeah, like six months after I
- 2:55Speaker 1: was on the show, I'm sure they did. But like
- 2:58Speaker 1: you got hitting me, this is run Yeah, so you
- 3:02Speaker 1: as a kid, I always wanted to run around and
- 3:04Speaker 1: read on He's like Rick Flair, you know. So I
- 3:07Speaker 1: would have went for it if if they came first.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So are there hasn't been an option since then? Have
- 3:12Speaker 1: you ever thought about it? We've been and we've talked
- 3:14Speaker 1: before and stuff like that. It'd be fun, but I
- 3:16Speaker 1: just have so much going on. I'm not, you know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: not there yet. I can't. I can't wait until like
- 3:22Speaker 1: two years. So now who knows what life has brought you.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You're still thriving. And then the w W comes and
- 3:28Speaker 1: I turned on my TV and Cameron's on TV, you know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: dancing off the ropes that it's kind of what happened
- 3:34Speaker 1: to me was Saturday Night Live. I was watching Saturday
- 3:36Speaker 1: and Live and in my bed and all of a
- 3:38Speaker 1: sudden you popped up on it. I was like, you
- 3:39Speaker 1: gotta be kidding me. This guy's everywhere. Yeah, that was
- 3:42Speaker 1: That was just a random thing that turned out to
- 3:44Speaker 1: be a lot of fun. So take opportunities, you know, obviously,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I don't know if there's anybody um from the franchise
- 3:52Speaker 1: who has made a bigger national name than you have
- 3:55Speaker 1: coming from and you, you know, and you won't even lead.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I think that's something too, is like you won't even lead.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You were on the show and then all of a sudden,
- 4:01Speaker 1: your name is explodes and you do a really you've
- 4:03Speaker 1: done a great job of managing and navigating it post show,
- 4:07Speaker 1: so you look back on this season. Does it feel
- 4:09Speaker 1: like two different that you know lives or have they
- 4:13Speaker 1: all kind of came together? Honestly that that seems so
- 4:17Speaker 1: far away, you know, And I've gone through so much
- 4:20Speaker 1: since then, and and you know, you've been in it,
- 4:23Speaker 1: You've been in the light before with that stuff that
- 4:26Speaker 1: makes you grow, it makes you harden a little bit,
- 4:28Speaker 1: but you kind of you know, you know, it just
- 4:31Speaker 1: changes you a little bit, you know. And and for
- 4:33Speaker 1: better or for worse, you know. And but I'm but
- 4:36Speaker 1: the show has you know, giving me tons of opportunity,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and I'm so grateful for what has done for me
- 4:41Speaker 1: because the show would really changed my life, changed my
- 4:43Speaker 1: family's life, everyone's life, you know, my friend's life too,
- 4:46Speaker 1: you know, and just provide so much opportunity. But yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's you know, it's it's definitely changed me. But I
- 4:52Speaker 1: think it's changed me for a better person. I mean,
- 4:55Speaker 1: do you look at the show with gratitude? Yeah, complete,
- 4:59Speaker 1: complete gratitude. You know, all the people I've met, everything
- 5:02Speaker 1: I've went through. You know, there's definitely you definitely go
- 5:04Speaker 1: through some you know, like you've there's downs, there's ups,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know, Like I've never had anxiety so I came
- 5:10Speaker 1: off the show, you know what I mean, like dealt
- 5:12Speaker 1: with you know, you're saying one wrong thing to message
- 5:15Speaker 1: with somebody, you know what I mean. Like I never
- 5:17Speaker 1: had like like things like that, you know, And so
- 5:21Speaker 1: that was definitely because I've always been like a very happy,
- 5:23Speaker 1: go lucky person. And then you know, then you put
- 5:26Speaker 1: all the scrutiny on every single move, you know, like
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'm not perfect. I'm human. I do make every single
- 5:31Speaker 1: mistake that everyone else makes, you know, and I'm gonna
- 5:34Speaker 1: up you know, that's just who I am, you know.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And my dad always says, you either learn whether it's
- 5:40Speaker 1: gonna hurt really bad or it's gonna be really expensive.
- 5:42Speaker 1: So you know, I learned the hard way sometimes. But uh,
- 5:45Speaker 1: you know, it's definitely also made me a better person,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and you know, it made me grow up a lot
- 5:50Speaker 1: faster too. Yeah, you know, I feel the same way
- 5:53Speaker 1: I was. I was broke pretty much when I went
- 5:55Speaker 1: on the show, and you know, it has been good
- 5:58Speaker 1: to me, mostly because trains and brings and one of
- 6:01Speaker 1: the other things that's been good too. And one of
- 6:03Speaker 1: the things I've I've admired about you, um from a
- 6:06Speaker 1: distance is you know your friendships have seemed to stay close.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Something that was really important to me. Is one of
- 6:13Speaker 1: the best piece of advice I've ever got when I
- 6:15Speaker 1: came off the show is keep the people in your
- 6:17Speaker 1: circle that have been in your circle in your circle
- 6:19Speaker 1: post show and life. You know, you don't hance your life,
- 6:22Speaker 1: but it won't change completely. What if some of the
- 6:25Speaker 1: things that you've done intentionally or maybe not intentionally to
- 6:28Speaker 1: keep those friendships thriving and to keep those people around you. Yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: you know you've gotten it, Ben. When you get off
- 6:36Speaker 1: the show, everyone wants to be your friend. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: people you've never met before, you know, celebrities, whatever. Everyone
- 6:42Speaker 1: wants to be your friend. But like the end of
- 6:44Speaker 1: the day, like the people I feel safe with, the
- 6:47Speaker 1: people I don't have my back are like my people
- 6:49Speaker 1: from back home, and the people I've always had my back,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know. And uh so, my same friends are the
- 6:54Speaker 1: same friends I grew up with, and that's who I
- 6:56Speaker 1: try to keep. Wrong. I know, I've made new friends
- 6:57Speaker 1: and I'm grateful for those friendships, but to the core
- 7:00Speaker 1: of it, you know, my two best friends are Katie
- 7:02Speaker 1: and Molly, who have knowns in seventh grade, and you know,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I live with one of the guys I went to
- 7:06Speaker 1: high school with, you know, Like it's just I just
- 7:08Speaker 1: I don't know. They're the people who humbled me, keep
- 7:10Speaker 1: me honest and true. And and without them, I would,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you know, I would, I would be lost. So I
- 7:15Speaker 1: think it's so important to keep your home people, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: the people that help you know, see you grew up,
- 7:21Speaker 1: watch you grow up. You can check you know, because
- 7:24Speaker 1: and this is what everyone's gonna tell you. Yes, yeah
- 7:26Speaker 1: I do that. Yeah do that. We need someone to
- 7:28Speaker 1: tell you know, And I got the people around me
- 7:31Speaker 1: tell me. Now, have has their view of you? Change
- 7:34Speaker 1: it all you think? I mean, this is the way
- 7:36Speaker 1: you operate with them. Change No, I've at least you know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: that's the one thing like I've like my favorite compliment
- 7:42Speaker 1: I've ever gotten from my friends, Like you're still the
- 7:44Speaker 1: same old TC you know, and like the same same
- 7:47Speaker 1: goofball idiot, but also the same suite you know, Like
- 7:50Speaker 1: I take care of my people, Like that's what I
- 7:52Speaker 1: have always been. Whether I have, you know, money in
- 7:54Speaker 1: my pocket, r I don't, I'm gonna find a way
- 7:55Speaker 1: to help take care of you, you you know. And uh,
- 7:58Speaker 1: that's just the person I am and my friends have
- 8:00Speaker 1: always you know, that's why we stick together because like
- 8:02Speaker 1: we take care of each other. You know, it's not
- 8:04Speaker 1: sometimes it's them taking care of me and me take
- 8:06Speaker 1: care of them. And that's why I feel comfortable and
- 8:08Speaker 1: safe with my friends. And it's uh, it is and
- 8:11Speaker 1: I mean it when I say it. I think it's. Uh.
- 8:14Speaker 1: It doesn't always happen. Uh. You know, you've been around
- 8:16Speaker 1: this franchise long enough to see how it can uh
- 8:20Speaker 1: take people in, eat them up, spit them out. They're
- 8:24Speaker 1: left looking left and right and nobody's left there to
- 8:26Speaker 1: stand anymore. And I think it's one of the cool
- 8:28Speaker 1: things from watching you is having those people by you.
- 8:31Speaker 1: No matter where lives brought you, and no matter where
- 8:33Speaker 1: lives going there, they're still there. So it is live
- 8:39Speaker 1: by And it says you're not on until all your
- 8:41Speaker 1: people are on, and I believe it, you know, like
- 8:43Speaker 1: until you know, you know, I could be in a
- 8:45Speaker 1: great place, but it's not good unless you can share
- 8:47Speaker 1: with the people that matter the most to you, you know.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And so like you know, one of my best friends
- 8:51Speaker 1: we run us. I used stores together and we have
- 8:54Speaker 1: two restaurants. You know, it's like that to me is
- 8:56Speaker 1: like it's like when you start to make things happen,
- 8:59Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, but what are some of the things
- 9:11Speaker 1: that your friends have said no for to you about?
- 9:14Speaker 1: You know, what are some of the things that you
- 9:15Speaker 1: can look back on and be like they were there
- 9:17Speaker 1: for me? Um, you know, just like talking me through situations,
- 9:22Speaker 1: especially when I'm going through something or something's coming down
- 9:25Speaker 1: on me, or you know, or I'm feeling or you know,
- 9:27Speaker 1: just like bad news or bad press or whatever, they're
- 9:30Speaker 1: able to walk me through and talk me through it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: And or you know, there's been times where we're like
- 9:35Speaker 1: we're just doing dumb stuff. We're out, you know, having
- 9:37Speaker 1: a good time, Like no, no, we're not gonna do that.
- 9:40Speaker 1: We're gonna come up here when gonna go here? Alright, alright,
- 9:42Speaker 1: come on because because I'll be honest, but I like
- 9:46Speaker 1: to have a good time, you know, and so and
- 9:47Speaker 1: so to my friends. So but they also wants to
- 9:50Speaker 1: protect me to in those situations. Oh yeah, No, I
- 9:53Speaker 1: need I need that too. I need that. I need
- 9:55Speaker 1: to friend handcuffs sometimes pulling me back tonight. We all
- 9:58Speaker 1: we all need it. We all need a friend that
- 9:59Speaker 1: can do that for us. You know, I would say, so, um, hey,
- 10:03Speaker 1: before we get into some of the stuff happening now
- 10:05Speaker 1: in your life. You know, you and I think have
- 10:08Speaker 1: a similar uh in a safe space like our happy place.
- 10:12Speaker 1: My my, my happy place growing up was on the
- 10:15Speaker 1: Indian River in Sebastian, Florida, on the inlet there we'd
- 10:19Speaker 1: fish it. My grandfather and his whole family always had
- 10:22Speaker 1: a house there and we go down and fish and
- 10:25Speaker 1: just take the boat out and when the waves were
- 10:28Speaker 1: small enough we get actually out of the ocean. Where's
- 10:30Speaker 1: your half happy space? You know, you your life swirls
- 10:33Speaker 1: around you a hundred miles an hour. Where do you
- 10:35Speaker 1: find peace? It's jupider Man, It's home. It's being on
- 10:38Speaker 1: my friends, being in my my gym that I built
- 10:41Speaker 1: in the garage, being be on the boat, you know,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's uh, that's my happy place, being with my dad,
- 10:46Speaker 1: on on the on the job site. Like those those
- 10:49Speaker 1: things right there making me happy and like I found
- 10:52Speaker 1: like you can do two things. You can feed your soul.
- 10:55Speaker 1: You can future ego, you know, and uh, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: New York's fun and I have a blast that they
- 11:00Speaker 1: have great friends up there too. And but this, you know,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you can create around there and party and go to
- 11:04Speaker 1: all the clubs and and the events and all that stuff.
- 11:08Speaker 1: But that just feeds your ego, and that stuff, to
- 11:09Speaker 1: me is not very fulfilling. So I love it when
- 11:12Speaker 1: I can come home be with my people. You know,
- 11:15Speaker 1: I have so much work down here now. I got
- 11:17Speaker 1: houses I'm building, Like, I just love being here, so,
- 11:20Speaker 1: you know, especially damn cold in New York right now.
- 11:23Speaker 1: So I'm really enjoying being here right now. But yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 1: Jupiter's my home. It's my happy place. That this is
- 11:29Speaker 1: like where I want to have a family and kids
- 11:31Speaker 1: and and retire and coach high school football one day. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 1: you don't need too many more people feeding your ego. People,
- 11:38Speaker 1: people are pumping you up pretty high. You need some
- 11:40Speaker 1: friends to just like, you know, put you back. And
- 11:43Speaker 1: my friends a joke on me. You know. That's why
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's healthy for you. It's healthy. Hey, before you get
- 11:51Speaker 1: into the real dirty dancing, which I know is a
- 11:53Speaker 1: big deal and something your pumped about. What is going
- 11:55Speaker 1: on with your houses? I see it on Instagram. I
- 11:57Speaker 1: saw the other day your grandma was there checking it
- 12:00Speaker 1: out with you. Um, there's your grandma right, that's my name, yep. Um,
- 12:06Speaker 1: you're building some houses in Jupiter. There's your houses. What's
- 12:08Speaker 1: going on? Yeah, No, I'm I got my construction, my
- 12:12Speaker 1: contruction company moving and going now. I Uh, I got
- 12:18Speaker 1: four houses that I'm building right now. Uh, two are
- 12:21Speaker 1: out the ground, two more permitting and then those are
- 12:25Speaker 1: just spec Holms, and I have two more under contract
- 12:27Speaker 1: with other people that were gonna build for them. So
- 12:29Speaker 1: six houses total. We're busy. It's exciting, like I'm you
- 12:33Speaker 1: know these houses, I'm you know the spec Holmes I'm designing.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You know, my dad's throwing his two cents in here.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It's like fun. We get to work together on them now.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But uh, it's really you know, me getting my hands
- 12:44Speaker 1: on it and getting after it. And the markets hot here. Man,
- 12:48Speaker 1: I hope it sells and hope it goes. So I
- 12:50Speaker 1: want to keep doing this and keep growing it and
- 12:52Speaker 1: and see where I can go. Do you think this
- 12:54Speaker 1: is the path for you? Like? Um, you know, I
- 12:56Speaker 1: think there's and I've seen you're there yet excited, no
- 13:00Speaker 1: clue if you are. But there's that moment it happened
- 13:02Speaker 1: for me last July. We're all of a sudden, I
- 13:03Speaker 1: have a pivot point where it's okay, do I want
- 13:05Speaker 1: to invest into the things that are like more business related,
- 13:08Speaker 1: less entertainment related. Let's uh, you know, front facing to
- 13:12Speaker 1: the world and more behind the scenes. Do you feel
- 13:15Speaker 1: like you're getting close to that point where entertainment is
- 13:17Speaker 1: maybe not the path, but like construction, you know, like
- 13:20Speaker 1: you said, coaching football is. Yeah, you know. My dream
- 13:24Speaker 1: is one day is when I'm forty, to stop everything
- 13:27Speaker 1: and just be a full time dad and coach high
- 13:29Speaker 1: school football and help kids go to college. But until then,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I want to run it up with construction entertainment. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: want to. I mean I would never you know, I'm
- 13:38Speaker 1: so up in entertainment world. I love it, I have
- 13:39Speaker 1: found with it. I want to see where that world goes.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But I also know that construction and something I get
- 13:44Speaker 1: to share it my dad and share with my people
- 13:46Speaker 1: down here, and like we take so much pride in
- 13:48Speaker 1: it that it's gonna it's gonna create a lot of
- 13:50Speaker 1: opportunities as well. So you know, I'm dabbling both, but
- 13:54Speaker 1: I think longevity wise, construction is going to be something
- 13:57Speaker 1: that I want to stay in for a long time
- 13:59Speaker 1: because everyone's gonna need a house, everyone's gonna build, and
- 14:02Speaker 1: everyone keeps moving to Florida. So I'll keep moving and
- 14:05Speaker 1: I'll keep building, all right. They Florida is a hot spot.
- 14:08Speaker 1: My parents just moved down there, and uh, I'm telling
- 14:11Speaker 1: you the market is hot. They getting in at the
- 14:13Speaker 1: right time. Well, all right, you have been busy. Uh.
- 14:17Speaker 1: You came out with a book this year. Um, you're
- 14:19Speaker 1: also you know, you're premier of the real dirty dancing
- 14:24Speaker 1: just happened. Let's start with and we're gonna go out
- 14:27Speaker 1: of order here, but let's start with the real dirty dancing.
- 14:31Speaker 1: You you're doing this? Well, first off, I remember and
- 14:35Speaker 1: tell me if I'm wrong. I think I remember your
- 14:36Speaker 1: intro package on The Bachelor that you were like dancing
- 14:39Speaker 1: through a house. Right, yeah, yeah, that was a thing. Um.
- 14:44Speaker 1: So as dance has always been like dancing always been
- 14:46Speaker 1: a part of your life. Is this something you've always enjoyed? Yeah, Ben,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I almost flunked out of college, uh my first semester. Uh,
- 14:53Speaker 1: and my football coaches are like, all right, well we
- 14:55Speaker 1: need to get your g bu. So there threw me
- 14:57Speaker 1: in dance classes. And Ben, it was me and thirty
- 14:59Speaker 1: girls in ballet. You know, I'm good. You do not
- 15:01Speaker 1: like it? And so I loved it. I was the
- 15:04Speaker 1: weird guy in the class, but everyone was so cool.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I learned so much from everybody, and then I just
- 15:09Speaker 1: kept taking it. Took hip hop, I took African dance,
- 15:11Speaker 1: I took all movement from men, and took all these
- 15:13Speaker 1: different dance classes. And I was so close to gonna
- 15:15Speaker 1: a minor until my coach told me to scram But uh,
- 15:18Speaker 1: I just like I became so fun of dancing, and
- 15:21Speaker 1: then I became the drunk guy on the dance floor,
- 15:23Speaker 1: always like having the best time. Like that was always me,
- 15:25Speaker 1: even if I was embarrassing myself, you know, like I
- 15:27Speaker 1: always had a blast dancing and grabbed my friends. We
- 15:30Speaker 1: all danced, so I loved it. And then this opportunity came.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I was like, hey, yeah, I don't care what they
- 15:37Speaker 1: paid me, just give me out there. Yeah, dancing with
- 15:40Speaker 1: the stars was an option. Uh now they have they
- 15:43Speaker 1: haven't come Colin, so maybe maybe they see my moves
- 15:45Speaker 1: now they might want to fall me. But uh, but
- 15:49Speaker 1: you know that I'm speaking to Matt. That's a grinding
- 15:53Speaker 1: was tough, No, it is. You know. It's interesting because
- 15:57Speaker 1: I was watching last night and I had no I
- 16:00Speaker 1: will say this, I had no judgment on how good
- 16:03Speaker 1: I thought you'd be. I had no clue you're a
- 16:05Speaker 1: good dancer like you are, Like you've got moves, you're
- 16:09Speaker 1: you're not embarrassing, you're being nice man. But yeah, no,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I it was. It was. It was fun, you know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and like we would learn, we'd get a dance that
- 16:16Speaker 1: we you know, we we learned our dance at night
- 16:18Speaker 1: before we had to perform, you know, like we have
- 16:20Speaker 1: twenty four hours to get it right. And uh testament
- 16:24Speaker 1: to some of the coaches we had around us that
- 16:26Speaker 1: kind of helped guide us a little bit. But you
- 16:28Speaker 1: know the people, you know, we we worked hard at it.
- 16:30Speaker 1: We were sweating, we were grinding. Lonnie was an incredible
- 16:33Speaker 1: dance partner. You know. We pushed each other very hard,
- 16:36Speaker 1: and you know, it was fun. And like I said,
- 16:38Speaker 1: I guess those dance classes in college, I guess paid
- 16:41Speaker 1: off a little bit. Yeah, you know. And and not
- 16:44Speaker 1: to switch gears complete, but you did mention your dedicating
- 16:47Speaker 1: doing this uh to your mother, who unfortunately has passed away.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Why it was important to dedicate this to your mom
- 16:55Speaker 1: because she always always like the one who pushed me
- 16:57Speaker 1: to like to to take chances and do with things
- 17:00Speaker 1: and and Uh, this is something like you're definitely dancing
- 17:04Speaker 1: is something you have to really just throw yourself out
- 17:06Speaker 1: there and take a chance. You know, you can't hold back.
- 17:08Speaker 1: If you hold back, you look like an idiot. You know.
- 17:10Speaker 1: It's a very vulnerable thing to dance, you know. And
- 17:12Speaker 1: my mom was always also the life of the party,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and so she'd always be the one dancing, and I'd
- 17:16Speaker 1: always be the one joining her and having fun. And so, uh,
- 17:20Speaker 1: you know, just like if she was here, she'd be
- 17:22Speaker 1: so she'd be having so much fun watching this with me,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you know. So I knew that going. Like I remember
- 17:27Speaker 1: the first time we went out and did like the
- 17:30Speaker 1: dance and like we were all like just to see
- 17:32Speaker 1: who were paired up with. I was kind of like nervous,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you know. I was like saying inside you know what
- 17:37Speaker 1: I mean, like in a box and uh, and we
- 17:41Speaker 1: all went away, and I was like, man, kiten up,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Man make mama proud, Go out there and dance like
- 17:46Speaker 1: you're supposed to dance. Just cut it loose. And after
- 17:48Speaker 1: that it was it was I was a change dancer.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I was out there giving it, having fun. And so
- 17:53Speaker 1: we just lived by me. My brothers we always say
- 17:55Speaker 1: make mama proud, and she wouldn't be proud if we
- 17:57Speaker 1: were holding back, That's for sure. The did a emotional
- 18:00Speaker 1: for you at all at that moment um. Yeah, you know,
- 18:03Speaker 1: because because you know, if if I catch myself slipping
- 18:06Speaker 1: every I'm like, man, would mom be proud of this? Well?
- 18:08Speaker 1: You know, make mama proud and Mama proud. And you
- 18:10Speaker 1: know when I was half as dancing, you know, you know,
- 18:14Speaker 1: it was like, come on, man, get right. You know,
- 18:16Speaker 1: there's definitely talking about it got emotional, you know, but
- 18:21Speaker 1: you know it's something I've learned to live with and
- 18:23Speaker 1: and now just learn to honor her, you know, through
- 18:25Speaker 1: all this, you know, it's uh, I don't know. I
- 18:28Speaker 1: can't say it's unfortunate, but it's it's unique to be
- 18:31Speaker 1: in a public spotlight kind of at the peak of
- 18:33Speaker 1: your notoriety, and something like this happens for anybody listening
- 18:37Speaker 1: out there. And there's a wide range of people. Uh,
- 18:41Speaker 1: and I'm assuming some have lost somebody close to them.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Keep keeping with that. What's your advice to them, Like,
- 18:49Speaker 1: how could you speak some truth into them to help
- 18:51Speaker 1: them feel less alone? Yeah? Um, first of all, like, uh,
- 18:56Speaker 1: don't isolate yourself you know. That's it's it's the definitely
- 18:59Speaker 1: the easiest to do is I slay yourself, but you're
- 19:01Speaker 1: just digging a deeper hole. As soon as that happen,
- 19:04Speaker 1: all my friends surrounded me, you know, and we just
- 19:08Speaker 1: stuck together. And we stuck together, and there'll be times
- 19:10Speaker 1: where I would try and step out and do something
- 19:13Speaker 1: with them and I'm like, no, this isn't feel comfortable,
- 19:15Speaker 1: and they take me back to you know, home and
- 19:16Speaker 1: make sure I'm good. You know. So surround yourself with
- 19:18Speaker 1: the people that love you and you love them, you know,
- 19:20Speaker 1: that's definitely one. And grief comes and waves. You know,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you're good one day and then the next day something
- 19:28Speaker 1: comes up. It reminds you of something, and you know,
- 19:30Speaker 1: and it hits you. But that's a beautiful thing. And
- 19:32Speaker 1: you know, there's a there's a song from Ed Sherian
- 19:36Speaker 1: and uh he says, the heart desferent broken heart. It
- 19:39Speaker 1: has been loved, you know, and the reason why you're
- 19:41Speaker 1: sad is because that person loved you and you love them,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and you know, it's a beautiful thing. And so, uh,
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's just trying to learn how to get perspective on things,
- 19:49Speaker 1: because it's definitely tough, Um, to see the bigger picture. Yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know, it's it's we me and my dad will
- 19:55Speaker 1: think about it. Damn, I wish she was still here.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I wish she was still around to see this or
- 19:58Speaker 1: to see that you know she you having a ball.
- 20:01Speaker 1: But hey, that's how life is, and you just gotta
- 20:04Speaker 1: learn like life is fragile, life is gentle, and then
- 20:07Speaker 1: every interaction you have could be your last, so just
- 20:09Speaker 1: make the most of it. Yeah, it's it's tough though,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and you know we've we've never able to talk. But
- 20:14Speaker 1: you know, I'm sot you went through that. But I'm
- 20:17Speaker 1: also uh, you know, you've been a good example. Um. Again,
- 20:20Speaker 1: it's so it's so crazy to me how somebody like
- 20:23Speaker 1: you who can come on the show life changes. You know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you keep, like you said, you keep you keep mentioning
- 20:29Speaker 1: your friends here, Um, you keep mentioning the people you
- 20:31Speaker 1: surround yourself with. UM, And I I would truly believe
- 20:35Speaker 1: from an outside perspective that's probably one of the reasons
- 20:37Speaker 1: why you've been so successful is because you have that
- 20:40Speaker 1: safe place to fall back on and that place to
- 20:42Speaker 1: come back to. And so credit to your friends. Shout
- 20:45Speaker 1: out to to the group of people around you. I mean,
- 20:48Speaker 1: it's it's easy. You get in this world and you
- 20:50Speaker 1: can you know, people all want to come into your life.
- 20:52Speaker 1: And I've taken bad advice, I've gotten burned. You know,
- 20:55Speaker 1: all this stuff and just reminds you who's got you
- 20:57Speaker 1: and who's important, and then you just learn to stick
- 20:59Speaker 1: with that. So back to the show then a little bit.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Why should people tune in to the real dirty dancing?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Why would people enjoy this? Uh? I want to watch it.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Give a little shout out here. Yeah, No, I think
- 21:22Speaker 1: this show one is just so light hard. I mean, hey,
- 21:26Speaker 1: if you're watching The Bastlorette, you're getting torn and beat
- 21:28Speaker 1: up all the time in the drama. Come watch their
- 21:30Speaker 1: dirty dancing, you know where it's soft, it's fun, it's lighthearted.
- 21:35Speaker 1: It's just it's eight people having a blast, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 1: and we're recreating an iconic movie. You know, we're doing
- 21:43Speaker 1: the scenes, we're dancing, we're giving it her all. But
- 21:47Speaker 1: you also see people grow so much. I think one
- 21:50Speaker 1: of the greatest stories is is Rebella, and you know
- 21:54Speaker 1: where she comes from the beginning of the show and
- 21:56Speaker 1: to where she gets to the end of the show.
- 21:57Speaker 1: You see her grow so much and start to just
- 22:01Speaker 1: embody who baby is and even more so herself. You know,
- 22:04Speaker 1: she's like, I've been a mom for so long, i
- 22:05Speaker 1: haven't felt sexy, and she kills it. And she's so
- 22:09Speaker 1: sexy and so amazing. And you know, Lonnie is saying,
- 22:12Speaker 1: you know, she goes out there and just shows you
- 22:14Speaker 1: can do. You can be anybody and anyone and go
- 22:16Speaker 1: out there and dance and have a good time. And
- 22:18Speaker 1: Kat you know, she's been a mom of six and
- 22:21Speaker 1: just like finding herself again and just so many cool
- 22:24Speaker 1: stories and Angela, you know, being this little Christian girl
- 22:28Speaker 1: and and but like boom, now I'm dancing and doing
- 22:31Speaker 1: all those things and just being sexy. It's it's okay
- 22:33Speaker 1: to be sexy. It's okay to have fun. And uh yeah,
- 22:37Speaker 1: and I got my shirt off a lot, so you
- 22:41Speaker 1: always find a way to get my shirt off. Then
- 22:43Speaker 1: I was gonna say, you can keep putting that back on.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I have a wife on Instagram as well, and I'm
- 22:47Speaker 1: trying to protect her from people. Have a beautiful wife.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Then she wants to she she's got a great man.
- 22:51Speaker 1: She's you're good man, that's congratulations and all that. Dude, hopefully,
- 22:55Speaker 1: hopefully I'll be following your footsteps soon and all that. Yeah,
- 22:58Speaker 1: it's worth it, incredible, But I'm nervous for the day
- 23:03Speaker 1: that she looks at me and she goes, hey, there's
- 23:05Speaker 1: these muscles on Tyler's gut, and like, do they exist
- 23:10Speaker 1: for everybody? Cause I haven't seen him on you yet.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm nervous. It's all right, it's all right, You're doing
- 23:15Speaker 1: just fine. I think I believe so. Uh, we're thriving. Well,
- 23:20Speaker 1: you know, the show is is super fun, and I
- 23:23Speaker 1: do think you see the stories unfold as you watch it, um,
- 23:29Speaker 1: just as we close up here. Um, you know I
- 23:32Speaker 1: saw on Instagram day you called called it the summer House.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think it's a summer camp. Summer camp. So behind
- 23:38Speaker 1: the scenes, even when the cameras are rolling, you're on
- 23:41Speaker 1: the dance floor. Were you guys growing together in the show?
- 23:44Speaker 1: We were having a blast. Even even the dancers you
- 23:46Speaker 1: know that work the show became so close with us.
- 23:50Speaker 1: They were they were so amazing, and they were just
- 23:53Speaker 1: such like someone for us to lean on when we're going,
- 23:55Speaker 1: like when we're struggling dancing or whatever. But I mean,
- 23:58Speaker 1: once cameras are off, we there was like an arcade
- 24:00Speaker 1: and we put a boom box in the arcade and
- 24:02Speaker 1: people are dancing and drinking and just having a good
- 24:05Speaker 1: time going to know each other. It was legit summer camp.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You know. We we have bonfires, We've wander all over
- 24:11Speaker 1: the place. We had so much fun. So like it
- 24:15Speaker 1: really was summer camp. And like I hate like like
- 24:18Speaker 1: like when we left, I hated being gone. I wanted
- 24:20Speaker 1: to come back and hang out with everybody and go
- 24:21Speaker 1: back to summer camp. So maybe maybe we'll have dirty
- 24:24Speaker 1: dancing too we go back to camp. So right, Yeah,
- 24:26Speaker 1: it's crazy, too cool. It's really cool to see parents
- 24:30Speaker 1: let loose a little bit. You know. Well, you also
- 24:35Speaker 1: have a book that I wanted to get to make
- 24:37Speaker 1: sure to mention you deserve better? Is is their title? Uh?
- 24:40Speaker 1: What made you want to write this book? And then
- 24:42Speaker 1: why should people pick it up? Yeah? Um, you know
- 24:46Speaker 1: the whole the whole part of this book. You know
- 24:48Speaker 1: the reason why I wanted to write it is I
- 24:49Speaker 1: want to have a conversation. Um, you know, when I
- 24:52Speaker 1: got off the show, everyone was freaking out about fantasy
- 24:55Speaker 1: sweets and oh Tyler is uh feminist king and all this.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm just a guy, and uh, like, you know, going
- 25:05Speaker 1: through all that and seeing all this you know, stuff
- 25:06Speaker 1: written up on all his websites and all that stuff,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I'm like, I just did what I hope my brother does,
- 25:11Speaker 1: every other guy, all my friends, you know, I help
- 25:13Speaker 1: all of them do. It is like, no, there's no
- 25:15Speaker 1: respected respect, you know. And so I wanted to create
- 25:18Speaker 1: a conversation about consent and all these things. And then
- 25:21Speaker 1: the book just kind of grew from there, you know.
- 25:23Speaker 1: And uh, you know, respects always been a big thing
- 25:25Speaker 1: with my dad and my mom, and uh, you know,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I felt like, you know, there's something that needs to
- 25:30Speaker 1: be talked about. Because if if I'm getting all this
- 25:32Speaker 1: page for the bare minimum, and then we have a
- 25:35Speaker 1: long ways to go, and so I wanted to kind
- 25:37Speaker 1: of create that dialogue and start that talk and and
- 25:40Speaker 1: so that everyone does his serve better, right man? Well,
- 25:43Speaker 1: uh continue, uh just thriving. We're wishing the best here.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I'm wishing the best. Man. Thanks for joining us today,
- 25:50Speaker 1: Thanks for sharing your story. Again. You can go check
