- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with i R Radio. It's time for another almost famous podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Today is a big day for Ashley and myself. Why well,
- 0:10Speaker 1: because we're here talking to you. Ben. You ridiculousness. I
- 0:16Speaker 1: enjoy it so do I. Um, thank you everybody for listening.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Ben has a big announcement that he's talked about a
- 0:24Speaker 1: little bit on social media today. Ben, you're going around
- 0:27Speaker 1: the world. You're basically a speaker for higher now for
- 0:29Speaker 1: corporate events for what what are you talking about? Tell us,
- 0:34Speaker 1: tell us about your new venture. Okay, well, thank you
- 0:37Speaker 1: for bringing it up. It's a big day. It's been working,
- 0:39Speaker 1: been in the works for over a year now. I
- 0:43Speaker 1: was encouraged to think about some I'm gonna keep this short,
- 0:46Speaker 1: to to think about some things that really fired me
- 0:49Speaker 1: up that I enjoy doing. What I found out that
- 0:51Speaker 1: I enjoy doing is sitting in really difficult conversations where
- 0:56Speaker 1: nuance uh special special quality. That's just not a lot
- 1:01Speaker 1: of people like to sit in uncomfortable positions. Yeah, that's
- 1:05Speaker 1: what makes you so awesome. That's what I'm hoping I
- 1:08Speaker 1: get hired some some for it. But you know, a
- 1:11Speaker 1: lot of it was based you know, right now, I'm
- 1:14Speaker 1: at a gathering of church pastors which in with in
- 1:19Speaker 1: in Colorado. There's about fifty of them here and the
- 1:22Speaker 1: whole purpose of this weekend is to just kind of
- 1:24Speaker 1: heal and rest and discuss and help kind of get
- 1:28Speaker 1: clarities to some issues maybe the pastors are feeling, and
- 1:31Speaker 1: I just get lucky enough to be invited to it.
- 1:33Speaker 1: This idea came last year when I was here. I
- 1:35Speaker 1: was like, you know, I enjoy sitting in those hard
- 1:37Speaker 1: conversations with people that maybe it's there isn't like a
- 1:43Speaker 1: right and wrong, but the important part is that we're
- 1:45Speaker 1: hearing people's stories, that we're listening well, that we're trying
- 1:50Speaker 1: to understand where everybody's coming from, and then you can,
- 1:53Speaker 1: you know, make your own opinion and judgment based on that.
- 1:56Speaker 1: But I think it's one of the things missing in
- 1:57Speaker 1: a very polarizing world on all big you know, umbrella
- 2:01Speaker 1: fronts right, religion, politics, culture, society. Um, how are we
- 2:07Speaker 1: functioning together if we're not listening to each other? And
- 2:09Speaker 1: so this website launched, Ben Higgins dot Com, was taken,
- 2:14Speaker 1: so I had to go with the Ben Higgins dot com,
- 2:16Speaker 1: which feels very self, but we know it's not. It
- 2:22Speaker 1: was the closest thing to it. And we're gonna be
- 2:24Speaker 1: launching a talking series called Come Sit with Me, where
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'm hoping to go into corporate events and churches and
- 2:31Speaker 1: schools and just sit with people so that they are heard,
- 2:34Speaker 1: listen to and feel less alone, and that I can
- 2:36Speaker 1: just get to be a part of those conversations and
- 2:38Speaker 1: maybe help guide and and direct so that some good
- 2:41Speaker 1: fruit is coming from him. So it launched today. You
- 2:44Speaker 1: can go visit the website. I'd really love for you too,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and I'm very excited about it. Well, congratulations Ben. It
- 2:50Speaker 1: sounds like in Plaine Site UM is going on tour. Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 1: because it never did because of COVID. COVID rushed my
- 2:57Speaker 1: book Dreams. So um we did well with the book,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you know, considering not fantastic UM. But now it's bringing
- 3:06Speaker 1: what we wrote about Alona Plaine Site yet too different
- 3:09Speaker 1: people groups to helpfully bring people together, to listen more,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and to leave. I'm hoping people leave no matter what
- 3:16Speaker 1: space we're doing this in, encouraged to continue, uh and
- 3:20Speaker 1: to continue well in a healthy way, causing less pain
- 3:25Speaker 1: than they do healing well. There's no one I can
- 3:27Speaker 1: think of that's a better listener. I feel like everybody
- 3:31Speaker 1: has that story of when they first meet you, well
- 3:33Speaker 1: they're just like, oh my gosh, I've never met somebody
- 3:35Speaker 1: who's just so engaged and you could tell which is
- 3:38Speaker 1: actively listening and making eye contact, Like I've just never
- 3:42Speaker 1: met somebody like that, like on the first meeting, to
- 3:44Speaker 1: seem so interested in my life because I am, and
- 3:48Speaker 1: I think that's a cool thing. And I used to
- 3:49Speaker 1: cover that up and kind of suppress it and be like, oh, yes,
- 3:53Speaker 1: isn't that what we're supposed to do? No, you know
- 3:55Speaker 1: what I'm I'm confident now that that is something that
- 3:57Speaker 1: I've been gifted with and it's a skill set because
- 3:59Speaker 1: I really am curious about people in their stories and
- 4:03Speaker 1: where they come from and why they are the way
- 4:05Speaker 1: they are and why they believe what they believe and uh,
- 4:08Speaker 1: And it's just gotten more over time as I've been
- 4:11Speaker 1: in touch with more people who maybe don't believe the
- 4:14Speaker 1: same things I believe, became more curious to hear why
- 4:18Speaker 1: and a lot of times it makes sense. And like
- 4:20Speaker 1: we say on this podcast, Ashley, you know, I've said
- 4:22Speaker 1: it many times before, it's really hard not to like
- 4:25Speaker 1: somebody when you get to know somebody. So that's what
- 4:29Speaker 1: this is all about. And that's kind of what's been
- 4:31Speaker 1: fun about Almost Famous is we've gotten to get to
- 4:35Speaker 1: know a lot of people who have been very critical
- 4:37Speaker 1: of something. Yes, and they were like, gosh, dang it,
- 4:40Speaker 1: I like them. I even said, did I said tell
- 4:43Speaker 1: us to you that when I met Aaron, Like to
- 4:46Speaker 1: his face, I said on TV, I didn't like you
- 4:50Speaker 1: like you look at you're always looking for a five,
- 4:52Speaker 1: You're always angry. It's like, I'm Aaron, I'm angry, and
- 4:55Speaker 1: in real life you're totally different. But I do think
- 4:57Speaker 1: that he's coming across on this season more of the
- 5:00Speaker 1: way that he is real life. He's like way more
- 5:02Speaker 1: of a jokester. And this there's this one part I'm
- 5:04Speaker 1: not sure if it's an episode one or two of
- 5:06Speaker 1: this week, but he's talking about delicious, like what is
- 5:10Speaker 1: it like nectar? That's sweet nectar? Well, if you guys,
- 5:14Speaker 1: if you're listening, is it? Yeah? And I think there
- 5:16Speaker 1: was episode one it was and it was so funny.
- 5:19Speaker 1: That's like true Aaron. Okay, well let's dive into the
- 5:21Speaker 1: episode right after this break. Okay, we start off with
- 5:36Speaker 1: everybody being super sad and depressed about Rodney leaving and
- 5:40Speaker 1: having his heart crushed. It's like morning in Paradise. M
- 5:45Speaker 1: Oh you are, And I mean can I'll say this, Actually,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I thought it was way overdone. I mean, I get
- 5:57Speaker 1: I believe that Rodney has had this impact on all
- 5:59Speaker 1: the people's lives. At this deep level. I think he's
- 6:02Speaker 1: a tremendous dude. I'm not taking anything away. It was
- 6:05Speaker 1: over kill, But fifteen minutes of this episode where people
- 6:11Speaker 1: being sad about Rodney leaving, it was way overblown. I've
- 6:16Speaker 1: never again if this is the impact that he has
- 6:19Speaker 1: on people by being around him on a beach, I
- 6:22Speaker 1: just want to sit in Rodney's presence to feel that
- 6:26Speaker 1: same love, you know. I just want to feel the
- 6:29Speaker 1: love that he's exuding from himself because he had people
- 6:33Speaker 1: a mess. Yes, everything was genuine, do you know what
- 6:38Speaker 1: I mean? Like they were truly feeling that way, but
- 6:39Speaker 1: we didn't have to see all the depression. It was
- 6:42Speaker 1: like a little bit like WHOA. But I will say
- 6:44Speaker 1: the part where Brandon is talking to Serene is super
- 6:49Speaker 1: adorable because he was like just having one of those
- 6:52Speaker 1: moments where he was appreciating her so much, and like
- 6:54Speaker 1: the fact that he's so lucky that he hasn't had
- 6:56Speaker 1: his heartbroken and he has this angel and he's just
- 7:00Speaker 1: the cutest little munchkin. Isn't he the sweetest and so
- 7:05Speaker 1: emotional and like so romantic. His heart is so broken
- 7:09Speaker 1: for his friend. Yeah, he's the sweetest. That relationship is
- 7:13Speaker 1: the sweetest. I will make a statement though, and say
- 7:16Speaker 1: that he is the sweetest because he's so in love. Like,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I think he's probably a great dude off this show.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I think he's very kind and consider he's very very romantic.
- 7:26Speaker 1: But we're loving him. Why because we get to see
- 7:29Speaker 1: this dude just fall head over heels for somebody and
- 7:32Speaker 1: we're seeing what she brings out in him and what
- 7:34Speaker 1: he brings out in her. But he's the sweetest cause
- 7:37Speaker 1: easy for him right now, I mean he's just I mean,
- 7:40Speaker 1: there's just rainbows and butterflies. It is easy. But we
- 7:42Speaker 1: even know how Sweetie is when he gets broken up
- 7:45Speaker 1: with with Michelle, Like he may throw rings into the ocean,
- 7:48Speaker 1: but he still handles it with sensitivity. I think he's
- 7:52Speaker 1: a great dude. Okay, So now we go to like
- 7:56Speaker 1: the juice, right, we have Eliza flying to Baltimore from
- 8:01Speaker 1: Porto Vierta to surprise Justin at his door, which he
- 8:07Speaker 1: just arrived home, like, I can't even imagine that it
- 8:09Speaker 1: was more than like twenty four hours before she gets there,
- 8:13Speaker 1: his bags are still unpacked. He's surprised but not necessarily
- 8:16Speaker 1: happy to see her, and we quickly find out why
- 8:21Speaker 1: he's really not down for the fact that he was
- 8:23Speaker 1: second choice. I am a little bit torn in this situation.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I don't think he was second choice. I don't know
- 8:32Speaker 1: that he even thinks that. Do you think that he
- 8:33Speaker 1: thinks his second choice or do you think that it's
- 8:35Speaker 1: more like you didn't have the guts to just go
- 8:38Speaker 1: forward with me. My my opinion is that he wasn't
- 8:42Speaker 1: his enduror as he bled on. And there's that because
- 8:46Speaker 1: if they're a person that you are so head over
- 8:49Speaker 1: heels for comes begging at your door, you're going to
- 8:53Speaker 1: be happy and take them back, especially twenty four hours later.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And she explains that she felt pressured and that she
- 9:00Speaker 1: explains you know why she did what she did if
- 9:03Speaker 1: he was as in Okay, let's reverse corpse. Let's role
- 9:07Speaker 1: play for a second, so it happens in reverse order.
- 9:10Speaker 1: She chooses Justin realizes Rodney is the one flies home
- 9:14Speaker 1: to see Rodney. How Rodney reacts to her showing up
- 9:16Speaker 1: at his door completely elated, like a little hesitant, but
- 9:20Speaker 1: mostly elated. Yeah, I mean Justin, Justin did not seem down. Uh.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And I'm sure it does hurt to be second choice,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and I'm sure it doesn't feel good and that he
- 9:30Speaker 1: is looking but uh, I just read, and this is
- 9:34Speaker 1: my opinion. I don't have any concrete facts to this.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I read in that conversation that he wasn't that disappointed
- 9:44Speaker 1: to be home, and that he maybe wasn't as interested
- 9:51Speaker 1: uh in pursuing Eliza like we all thought he was.
- 9:56Speaker 1: But we're judging it off of the Rodney reaction. We're
- 9:59Speaker 1: judge this off of how much in love he was
- 10:02Speaker 1: and how torn up he was, and how torn up
- 10:04Speaker 1: the beach was. That Rodney isn't with Eliza still, and
- 10:08Speaker 1: so I think we just saw a very drastic difference
- 10:11Speaker 1: where Rodney was. This is my wife and Justin's like,
- 10:15Speaker 1: I would have loved to keep trying to make it
- 10:16Speaker 1: work in paradise, but it didn't work in paradise, and
- 10:18Speaker 1: so now we're all moving on and I'm good with that,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and I hope you are too, which is a very
- 10:24Speaker 1: different perspective than Rodney had about Eliza. I think that
- 10:29Speaker 1: that night, that Rose ceremony night, she wanted to pick
- 10:33Speaker 1: Justin and there there's no second choice about this. She
- 10:37Speaker 1: just felt so much peer pressure and can you blame her?
- 10:41Speaker 1: Look at the peer pressure that was like that, Look
- 10:43Speaker 1: at the the reaction that the crowd had. How are
- 10:47Speaker 1: you supposed to disappoint people like that? Then? Like, not
- 10:50Speaker 1: only are you maybe disappointing a whole bunch of other people,
- 10:52Speaker 1: but you're also saying you're also worried that they're going
- 10:56Speaker 1: to be like, oh, there's the dumbass who chose Justin
- 10:58Speaker 1: over Rodney. Like you don't want to wake up the
- 11:02Speaker 1: next morning, go to the pool and then be like, oh,
- 11:04Speaker 1: there's the girl that made the massive mistake, Like what
- 11:08Speaker 1: is she thinking? I think that's what they would think. Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 1: we said it last week, Like I I feel for
- 11:14Speaker 1: Eliza here. Yeah, I think she was almost a no
- 11:17Speaker 1: win situation because she was interested in both people. She
- 11:22Speaker 1: made it a choice that she felt like it was
- 11:25Speaker 1: best for her, but also, uh, you know when you
- 11:29Speaker 1: make a big choice in life, Typically people rely on
- 11:31Speaker 1: their friends and their family to help bring clarity, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: her friends were all telling her very obvious, you should
- 11:38Speaker 1: choose the man that wants to marry you. So she did.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Didn't work out. I was surprised that Justin didn't welcome
- 11:46Speaker 1: her back in with open arms. Do we do we
- 11:48Speaker 1: villainize him for this? I want to know what the
- 11:50Speaker 1: fans were thinking on Twitter last night, or on any
- 11:53Speaker 1: social media, But the fans annoyed at him because I
- 11:57Speaker 1: don't think there's any reason to be annoyed at him.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I think that it's just a very unfortunate overall situation.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Do you think that she regrets not hanging around and
- 12:08Speaker 1: giving Rodney more of a chance. I think ultimately it's
- 12:11Speaker 1: a win, win win. I think she pursued what she wanted. Yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 1: I think it was a lose at first. I think
- 12:18Speaker 1: it turns into a win because Justin is then at
- 12:21Speaker 1: this point clearly stating his intentions and feelings for Eliza.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I do don't. I don't think we villainize him. I
- 12:29Speaker 1: do wonder though, since he his friends with so many
- 12:32Speaker 1: of the guys in the beach, and he knew how
- 12:34Speaker 1: Rodney felt about Eliza, why he stuck around if he
- 12:38Speaker 1: wasn't completely and utterly in love and sold out with
- 12:43Speaker 1: Eliza saying, this is my human, this is my person.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Knowing that his buddy was feeling that way, why do
- 12:48Speaker 1: you stick around and try to step in between that?
- 12:52Speaker 1: That would be the only thing I'm wondering about. What what?
- 12:54Speaker 1: What decisions he made? But Rodney gets clarity because he
- 12:58Speaker 1: realizes the person that he was in up with maybe
- 13:00Speaker 1: doesn't feel the same about him. Eliza gas clarity because
- 13:03Speaker 1: now she's single. Yes, I hate that she's felt pain
- 13:08Speaker 1: on both sides of this now and then Justin Justin
- 13:11Speaker 1: is able to move on with his life. Uh, And
- 13:13Speaker 1: I think ultimately it's gonna work out great for all
- 13:15Speaker 1: of them. I just think watching it was hard. I
- 13:18Speaker 1: do wonder if I had a question for Justin, it
- 13:20Speaker 1: would be why did you stick around knowing how deeply
- 13:23Speaker 1: your buddy felt about this person and that there was
- 13:26Speaker 1: a potential that that person felt the same way about him?
- 13:30Speaker 1: What were you doing on the beach? That's a really
- 13:32Speaker 1: interesting way of thinking about it, because I didn't think
- 13:35Speaker 1: about in that way. But I did think when he
- 13:37Speaker 1: didn't take her back that he did it because he
- 13:40Speaker 1: didn't want he he likes his friend Rodney more than
- 13:43Speaker 1: he likes her. Well, that could be too, I mean
- 13:46Speaker 1: that's not a bad thought. We don't know, but that's
- 13:48Speaker 1: another theory, right that he's thinking. No, I know how
- 13:52Speaker 1: this played out with my buddy obviously probably crushed him
- 13:55Speaker 1: and I can't. However, However, if you're really being a
- 13:59Speaker 1: good guy, really really, then you leave the beach and
- 14:03Speaker 1: you say I'm not here. I I don't have strong
- 14:06Speaker 1: enough feelings to stick around for you and to make
- 14:08Speaker 1: like this whole she again, or when you do get
- 14:12Speaker 1: let go like he did. Right before you get in
- 14:15Speaker 1: the car, you say, hey, I think this is the
- 14:17Speaker 1: best thing for you, Like you know, you give that
- 14:20Speaker 1: reassurance before you leave. So I'm going home, and I
- 14:23Speaker 1: do believe this is the right thing. I think this
- 14:26Speaker 1: is this is something that's gonna be great for you
- 14:28Speaker 1: and great for Rodney. And I'm sad because I did
- 14:30Speaker 1: have feelings for you and I do think you're amazing.
- 14:33Speaker 1: But you made the right decision. Yeah, you could have said,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I wonder, well, we get could go on and on
- 14:38Speaker 1: about the eye wonders here, but I do wonder if
- 14:42Speaker 1: he had one of those left the bachelor bubble births
- 14:46Speaker 1: where he was like, oh, got on the plane. Okay,
- 14:49Speaker 1: I liked her. I liked her, but I didn't see
- 14:53Speaker 1: her as my wife. I don't even know if I
- 14:54Speaker 1: saw her as a long term girlfriend, but I was
- 14:56Speaker 1: like really into her, attract her in this In the
- 15:00Speaker 1: US wondering stage, I wonder why the show doesn't give
- 15:04Speaker 1: us I t M s with the in these situations
- 15:07Speaker 1: that ask these questions, give us clarity. Justin sit down
- 15:11Speaker 1: and I t M tell us what was going through
- 15:13Speaker 1: your head, why you ultimately made this decision? Why don't
- 15:16Speaker 1: you leave the beach early? Tell us everything so that
- 15:19Speaker 1: we aren't wondering, give us clarity. That's why they have
- 15:23Speaker 1: reunion shows. Okay, fair enough, I don't. I don't I
- 15:29Speaker 1: love sitting in tough situations and walking through stuff with people.
- 15:33Speaker 1: That would be when I'd be like, there's a lot
- 15:35Speaker 1: of the there's a lot of emotion in this one,
- 15:38Speaker 1: which isn't always fun too to be a part of. Well. Actually,
- 15:43Speaker 1: then after these two big storylines, obviously um the Rodney
- 15:47Speaker 1: monologue of tears that everybody seems to be feeling, and
- 15:50Speaker 1: then Justin and Aliza break up, we move into some
- 15:54Speaker 1: more smaller issues, um in my opinion, and some things
- 15:59Speaker 1: I want to get your thoughts on. The whole rest
- 16:01Speaker 1: of the episode is like small issues in my point
- 16:03Speaker 1: of view. Yeah, but there are some things I want
- 16:06Speaker 1: to bring out to you and get your opinion on.
- 16:07Speaker 1: The big one is we sell people showing up to
- 16:10Speaker 1: the beach and what what the heuck? Like? What what's
- 16:15Speaker 1: the point? Okay, so you've been to Paradise, You've been
- 16:18Speaker 1: to Paradise this year, You've been behind the scenes. You
- 16:21Speaker 1: know how the show flows and functions. From a from
- 16:24Speaker 1: a producer's perspective, from a show's perspective, why do they
- 16:28Speaker 1: still have people showing up to the beach right now?
- 16:32Speaker 1: I think it's because it was such a long season
- 16:34Speaker 1: that they needed to fill up, honest But from my
- 16:40Speaker 1: point of view, when I was down there during week two,
- 16:43Speaker 1: which is a long time ago now, I thought that
- 16:47Speaker 1: they weren't going to be bringing in people late, and
- 16:49Speaker 1: that the whole switcheroo thing was going to take the
- 16:52Speaker 1: place of people coming in late, the girls going to
- 16:58Speaker 1: the hotel. I thought it was gonna be dragged out
- 16:59Speaker 1: more in just one week. I'm yeah, I mean I
- 17:03Speaker 1: think that would have worked. Now I'm confused with the
- 17:05Speaker 1: switcher Ruth thing. I do think that filming episode. I
- 17:08Speaker 1: think it's it's already interrupted. But it's like a whole
- 17:11Speaker 1: different season to me. Like that season when like Lace
- 17:14Speaker 1: was there and Jill was there, that was good times.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Now we're just like a whole new like a lot
- 17:20Speaker 1: of new cast. How long does it feel that Teddy
- 17:24Speaker 1: was there? Oh my god, a year ago. It doesn't
- 17:28Speaker 1: seem like I mean, I was wondering if she was
- 17:30Speaker 1: even on this season. It's been so long. Well, she
- 17:32Speaker 1: goes in. We we get Teddy drama later in this
- 17:36Speaker 1: week's episode. So you guys listening to this episode one
- 17:39Speaker 1: know that this is definitely a topic of conversation and
- 17:42Speaker 1: episode two. Yeah, but it just feels like forever. I mean,
- 17:46Speaker 1: there's just a lot, uh, a lot of people that
- 17:50Speaker 1: have came on the beach, came off the beach, coming
- 17:53Speaker 1: back on the beach, splitting up the beach. Now we
- 17:56Speaker 1: still people showing up as engagements are upon us. In
- 17:59Speaker 1: the next couple weeks here, people still showing up, and
- 18:03Speaker 1: it's really awkward for these people because they're showing up
- 18:06Speaker 1: to a beach full of couples, like there's an even
- 18:09Speaker 1: number of girls and guys this week, uh entering in
- 18:14Speaker 1: and they're still girls showing up to the beach only
- 18:18Speaker 1: there to steal a man. This is when it should stop.
- 18:22Speaker 1: The whole entrances is when they have to break up
- 18:25Speaker 1: a couple in order to um go on a date.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Sometimes that it happens that the person isn't even able
- 18:32Speaker 1: to find a date, which is super embarrassing. But also
- 18:35Speaker 1: if you're breaking up a couple at this point, we're
- 18:37Speaker 1: not even it's not even that dramatic because the couple
- 18:40Speaker 1: obviously wasn't strong enough to still be around. Yeah, it's not.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we do have a little drama
- 18:46Speaker 1: with some later rivals when it comes to Mara and
- 18:49Speaker 1: it comes to n Z and those, You know that
- 18:52Speaker 1: that does shake it up a bit. But I'm more
- 18:55Speaker 1: intrigued at this point in the season with making the
- 18:58Speaker 1: couples that still exist asked those big questions. You know.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That leads us so well into the conversation between Victoria
- 19:08Speaker 1: and Johnny. He's just now revealing to her that there's
- 19:12Speaker 1: a lot of family drama going on. Um, his mom
- 19:16Speaker 1: is in a super stressed out situation. I don't know
- 19:19Speaker 1: how their marriage is going, but they they're dealing with
- 19:23Speaker 1: his brother being in prison, and how is she How
- 19:28Speaker 1: are they just having this conversation now after knowing each
- 19:30Speaker 1: other for like three weeks. I think it's fair you do, okay, yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 1: because he said it. Even when he told her, He's like, well,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I said this, and now the whole world will know.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I think it's very kept to his heart, in a
- 19:42Speaker 1: very secret thing, and I'm sure many times he's wanted
- 19:46Speaker 1: to tell her. I don't think it's a Victoria Johnny problem.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I think he's probably stopped himself, going, this isn't really
- 19:52Speaker 1: my business to expose to the world yet. And at
- 19:56Speaker 1: some point then he's gotten so comfortable on the beach.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It feels like they've been there for so long that
- 20:01Speaker 1: this just felt like he had to tell her now
- 20:03Speaker 1: or a lot of what he's going on behind the
- 20:05Speaker 1: scenes doesn't make sense. I'm assuming though, for the first
- 20:08Speaker 1: three weeks he's just held it close to chest because
- 20:10Speaker 1: it's a very personal issue and it's not it involves him, obviously,
- 20:15Speaker 1: because it's his family, but it's not his it's not
- 20:18Speaker 1: necessarily his story to tell. And uh and I'm I'm
- 20:21Speaker 1: also assuming that when he went on Paradise, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 1: there were some probably people around him they're like, hey,
- 20:27Speaker 1: if you can, please don't talk about this too much.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I think I worded it wrong. Definitely understand why he
- 20:37Speaker 1: wouldn't say like my brothers in prison that early on
- 20:40Speaker 1: because of the television point of view. Yeah, but it's
- 20:45Speaker 1: how the conversation started, which felt were to me because
- 20:48Speaker 1: Johnny's like, I can see my dad really liking you.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Victoria said, my dad would really like you, and then
- 20:55Speaker 1: they kind of like start talking about each other's like
- 20:57Speaker 1: dad's and then talking about the family as if they
- 21:01Speaker 1: haven't talked about like describe what your relationship is with
- 21:04Speaker 1: your family yet. Or maybe it's just like a reiteration
- 21:07Speaker 1: of it which is very very much like that. It
- 21:10Speaker 1: could be it could be that. Yeah, I think you're right.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Maybe I'm looking into it. Maybe my initial response was
- 21:16Speaker 1: to like, harsh, I just don't think it's weird. I
- 21:19Speaker 1: think it very much makes sense on why it's happening now,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and um, I'm surprised to happen at all. I don't think,
- 21:25Speaker 1: you know, it's a bad I think I get why
- 21:27Speaker 1: because they're getting close enough, and the ends apo upon
- 21:30Speaker 1: them and they're having more serious conversations about what life
- 21:34Speaker 1: looks like post show. I'm wrong, I'm wrong, You're right. No,
- 21:40Speaker 1: this is so true. Thank you for like kind of
- 21:42Speaker 1: like showing me the light on that there's like a
- 21:44Speaker 1: lot of people that aren't and and and the way
- 21:46Speaker 1: that they brought that up it was like, oh, you know,
- 21:48Speaker 1: my dad will really like you if he meets you
- 21:50Speaker 1: type thing, which is different than like, this is my
- 21:53Speaker 1: family dynamic. I have a mom and a dad and
- 21:55Speaker 1: they live here. And I says termed al blah blah,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and they live here. It's different than like saying like,
- 22:00Speaker 1: my dad would really like you. And then like going
- 22:01Speaker 1: into the personality traits is so yeah, I understand you
- 22:05Speaker 1: been again. Final thing. I mean, I think the biggest
- 22:18Speaker 1: thing that happens now with the rest of the episode
- 22:20Speaker 1: that we need to discuss before moving on the headlines
- 22:24Speaker 1: is n C showing up with all the people showing
- 22:27Speaker 1: the beach. She seems to be the one that shaken
- 22:29Speaker 1: stuff up the most because Justine and Andrew are splitting,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and n C is taking Andrew on a day, and
- 22:38Speaker 1: so we get to see this day between the two
- 22:41Speaker 1: of them. I've never I can sit this now and
- 22:45Speaker 1: and feel really good about it. Um, so it probably
- 22:48Speaker 1: will come off very um illegitimate, But uh, I've never
- 22:56Speaker 1: felt Andrew and just sinya like I just don't does
- 22:59Speaker 1: it's ever like felt like a couple that that had
- 23:04Speaker 1: the depth that maybe some of the other couples didn't understand.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It wasn't shocked. I was surprised that he did go
- 23:09Speaker 1: on another date with somebody else. Um, but and Cee,
- 23:14Speaker 1: you know, comes, she's new, she's exciting, and uh, and
- 23:19Speaker 1: they go on their date. It seems to go well.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Obviously an episode two this week, we'll talk more about this,
- 23:25Speaker 1: But I guess my my question to you actually is
- 23:28Speaker 1: were you shocked that Andrew said yes to this day
- 23:32Speaker 1: and just leaving just send you on the beach. No,
- 23:35Speaker 1: Andrew has definitely been around for a while because I
- 23:41Speaker 1: think every he's just such a likable person. But I
- 23:43Speaker 1: don't think that like we've ever felt like, oh man,
- 23:45Speaker 1: this relationship is going to lead somewhere serious with him.
- 23:49Speaker 1: But he's really nice to have their episode in Gabby
- 23:53Speaker 1: and Rachel are showing up to the beach. The two
- 23:56Speaker 1: pass Bachelorrets show up. It's a little cliffhanger, a lot
- 23:59Speaker 1: of shot faces, a lot of surprised faces, Ashley, If
- 24:04Speaker 1: Chris Soul showed up to the beach on your season
- 24:08Speaker 1: and you're sitting on the bench with Jared, let's say
- 24:11Speaker 1: the season after, like a couple of months after, would
- 24:15Speaker 1: it feel awkward for you? Um? No, not in the
- 24:19Speaker 1: case that Chris were to come on our season, because
- 24:22Speaker 1: one time would have passed more time than the Bachelorette
- 24:26Speaker 1: season seeing their guys. So these guys are seeing their
- 24:30Speaker 1: bachelorettes about a month or so after they left them,
- 24:33Speaker 1: so it is still fresh. And then obviously I had
- 24:37Speaker 1: way stronger feelings for Jared than Chris, so it wouldn't
- 24:41Speaker 1: have been phased me. But I totally understand like a
- 24:44Speaker 1: little like a heart surge, you know, like a little
- 24:46Speaker 1: little electricity or your body and be like, oh God,
- 24:50Speaker 1: all of a sudden, I feel nervous. Now. If Caitlyn
- 24:54Speaker 1: were to have shown up the beach when Jared was
- 24:56Speaker 1: there during our first season, all hell would have broken loose.
- 25:00Speaker 1: See I uh, I mean I remember the uh was
- 25:04Speaker 1: after the final rose. I think I was at I
- 25:07Speaker 1: was so embarrassing. Yeah, and I saw Caitlin, and I
- 25:12Speaker 1: remember just being really excited. So I was I can't relate.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Maybe because Caitlin I ended on such good terms, very
- 25:18Speaker 1: clear terms. Um both had like that moment to discuss,
- 25:23Speaker 1: and I knew it was best for her and I
- 25:25Speaker 1: believed it was going to be best for me. So
- 25:27Speaker 1: there wasn't like any like Harvard feelings or resentment, but
- 25:33Speaker 1: I I just was excited to see her. Really, no
- 25:36Speaker 1: heart flutter, no heart flutter, come on, now, I had
- 25:40Speaker 1: a heart flutter when Christal is gone stage. I didn't
- 25:43Speaker 1: expect it. Yeah, he's a good looking film. Yeah that's
- 25:47Speaker 1: I was just like, wow, he's really hot. Yeah, I
- 25:50Speaker 1: mean Caitlin. Caitlin and I just ended so well and
- 25:53Speaker 1: and so clearly, like we knew how we felt about
- 25:56Speaker 1: each other, Like Caitlin will always be somebody in this
- 25:58Speaker 1: world that I respect and I care about out and
- 26:00Speaker 1: I'm so happy that I've gotten to meet you. Didn't
- 26:02Speaker 1: get dropped in the bad Lands and then helicoptered off. Yeah, No,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I had that moment, And so maybe a little different Ashley.
- 26:12Speaker 1: The first episode of this week, Something's happening, A lot
- 26:15Speaker 1: of things not happening, another kind of slow episode. To me, uh,
- 26:19Speaker 1: doesn't feel like we progressed very far in any relationship.
- 26:23Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like we got to know some of
- 26:25Speaker 1: these relationships any better. Obviously, a lot of the episode
- 26:29Speaker 1: was taken up with the Eliza Justin and Rodney situation. Uh,
- 26:33Speaker 1: and we obviously discussed that. But episode one made me
- 26:38Speaker 1: h intrigued for episode two because I feel like if
- 26:41Speaker 1: they're if we're counting, each week is a is a game.
- 26:44Speaker 1: They have to hit a lot of home runs in
- 26:45Speaker 1: episode two to get fans, you know, excited about the
- 26:49Speaker 1: finales here and as somebody who has seen episode two,
- 26:54Speaker 1: we can tell you that the episode two is the
- 26:58Speaker 1: wild one this week. So many fun, so many moments,
- 27:03Speaker 1: talk about we'll do that in the next episode. But
- 27:05Speaker 1: before we do move on to headlines, I think we
- 27:08Speaker 1: should mention Mara because Mark comes in, she takes um
- 27:12Speaker 1: just In the twin on a date, and then he
- 27:16Speaker 1: basically just leaves her. I don't want to leave the
- 27:18Speaker 1: episode without talking about Mara because I actually think she
- 27:20Speaker 1: had a ton of screen time. Her screen time just
- 27:23Speaker 1: happened to end up with like pointlessness. Yeah, I was
- 27:27Speaker 1: gonna say, I mean, she had a ton of screen time.
- 27:30Speaker 1: She wasn't a date, she was a storyline. But you
- 27:34Speaker 1: know she comes and goes and there's nothing that happens,
- 27:38Speaker 1: Like there's no there's no juice, there's no breakups. There's
- 27:43Speaker 1: nothing but a date in us, some time together and
- 27:47Speaker 1: some more eating food off of each other. I mean,
- 27:50Speaker 1: the twins really walked into like an ideal situation because
- 27:54Speaker 1: they're like late enough for there the two most single dudes,
- 27:59Speaker 1: and now they're going to get the attention from anybody
- 28:01Speaker 1: comes on the beach um. So I don't I think
- 28:05Speaker 1: I think they just are finding I think those two
- 28:07Speaker 1: will well you've Paradise feeling like they hit the lottery,
- 28:10Speaker 1: like they had the best time ever. Those guys, Like
- 28:12Speaker 1: I know, I said it from the get go when
- 28:15Speaker 1: they were announced, but I thought that they were going
- 28:17Speaker 1: to be like Pete Davidson, like like just these hilarious
- 28:22Speaker 1: brose that like had all this, all these good snappy lines,
- 28:26Speaker 1: and they are. They're even keeled, and they're coming on
- 28:30Speaker 1: the show tomorrow, so you'll see if we can get
- 28:33Speaker 1: some more funniness out of them, because they're far more
- 28:36Speaker 1: serious than we expected, or I expected far more serious
- 28:40Speaker 1: Pride than the show expected. All right, Ashley, It's time
- 28:42Speaker 1: for headlines Bachelor Nation Headlines with our resident expert, Ashley
- 28:46Speaker 1: I Connettie resident expert, the first Headlinne is this the
- 28:51Speaker 1: Bachelor's Peter Webber and Kelly flannagain enjoy romantic cruise after
- 28:55Speaker 1: rekindling relationship that scording to people, guys, I want to
- 28:59Speaker 1: go on this cruise they have sold me. I am influenced.
- 29:03Speaker 1: We all know if you've listened for a while. I'm
- 29:05Speaker 1: a huge cruiser, love cruises with my family, vacation for
- 29:09Speaker 1: like twenties three years, haven't been for four years, have
- 29:12Speaker 1: never been on a celebrity cruise, but their documentation of
- 29:16Speaker 1: their cruise makes me want to try celebrity so bad.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I already wanted it to be the next cruise line.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I tried out as an adult because it's very much
- 29:24Speaker 1: an adult cruise line. But they lost Loically if they
- 29:27Speaker 1: had the best time ever, We're happy for him. Well.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Madison Pruitt shares honeymoon photos with Grant Trout from Mexico.
- 29:35Speaker 1: The quote is still not over it disaccording to people. Yeah.
- 29:38Speaker 1: On her Instagram stories, basically did a carouselt of like
- 29:40Speaker 1: a whole bunch of places that they hit when they
- 29:42Speaker 1: went to Los Cabos to Mexico. Um, she says in
- 29:47Speaker 1: the caption best Honeymoon with my husband, All caps still
- 29:52Speaker 1: not over it. Um. You know they're kissing, they wear
- 29:55Speaker 1: bathing suits, there's an infinite a poor pool. It's like
- 29:58Speaker 1: all the things that you expect to see on a honeymoon.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Instagram carousel. Um, there's a heart shaped candle around the beach.
- 30:08Speaker 1: And then she also recently talked about choosing the location
- 30:11Speaker 1: of Dallas, Texas and the fact that they had four
- 30:14Speaker 1: hundred friends and family there because she knew would be
- 30:17Speaker 1: the place that most people at their attending their wedding
- 30:21Speaker 1: would be from. And also it's kind of like a
- 30:23Speaker 1: central location. It's also unique and special to us because
- 30:27Speaker 1: like that's their home now. She also always wanted to
- 30:30Speaker 1: get married in the fall and always wanted a short engagement.
- 30:34Speaker 1: She said it could not be more perfect the way
- 30:36Speaker 1: things have gone down. Well, speaking of the invite list,
- 30:40Speaker 1: the final headline of the day speaks about somebody that
- 30:42Speaker 1: wasn't invited to the wedding. Natasha Parker jokes Bachelor's Peter
- 30:46Speaker 1: Webber was not allowed that Madison pru It's wedding. The
- 30:50Speaker 1: quote is we would have kicked him out. This according
- 30:53Speaker 1: to Last Weekly. Well, hilariously, his girlfriend Kelly was there,
- 30:58Speaker 1: but yeah, he just was not on the invitation, which
- 31:01Speaker 1: totally respectable. Those invitations definitely went out before they were
- 31:05Speaker 1: a public couple. Again, right right then, you got an
- 31:07Speaker 1: invitation when you do such a quick engagement, how many
- 31:12Speaker 1: weeks did you get notice? Normal, it's probably two months
- 31:17Speaker 1: before the wedding. Oh really? Okay, so like they basically
- 31:20Speaker 1: picked a date before, like right away. The date was
- 31:25Speaker 1: probably already planned before he like got down on one knee. Anyway,
- 31:29Speaker 1: let's get back to the sort of joke here. Natasha
- 31:32Speaker 1: said that Peter was not there. No, he was not allowed.
- 31:38Speaker 1: We would have kicked him out. Um, Maddie's wedding was amazing.
- 31:42Speaker 1: She married her prince charming. Let's just say she is
- 31:46Speaker 1: no longer of virgin and were very happy for her.
- 31:49Speaker 1: That is what Natasha had to say for um, you know,
- 31:52Speaker 1: on on that wedding. My goodness, Uh hey, I lied.
- 31:57Speaker 1: We have breaking news, a breaking headline. It's not as
- 32:00Speaker 1: stilly breaking news, but it is a breaking headline coming
- 32:02Speaker 1: through about Gabby and Eric Ashley. You haven't sent over
- 32:06Speaker 1: to you in our podcast portal, Please let everybody know
- 32:12Speaker 1: what this headline says and what is going on in
- 32:15Speaker 1: there relationship or lack thereof. Well, we basically knew last
- 32:20Speaker 1: week that it was over over, even though Jesse Palmer
- 32:23Speaker 1: wants to make it seem like they may have been
- 32:24Speaker 1: working through things. We had our producer Hannah have friends
- 32:29Speaker 1: who saw Eric out and about at a bar in
- 32:32Speaker 1: Santa Monica and he definitely was looking like a single man.
- 32:34Speaker 1: And now Gabby is confirming it to us, saying, the
- 32:37Speaker 1: end of our relationship happened because we weren't completely in
- 32:40Speaker 1: step and in sync with each other in our common
- 32:43Speaker 1: goals or just the way that we approach life. Um,
- 32:47Speaker 1: we were in each other's best match. Despite the split um,
- 32:52Speaker 1: she says that she's so grateful that her dad and
- 32:55Speaker 1: her step mom um are basically role models for her
- 32:59Speaker 1: in a relation ship. She wants some like a relationship
- 33:02Speaker 1: that has the values that they have, and she also
- 33:05Speaker 1: wants a channel that kind of everlasting love into some
- 33:09Speaker 1: of the dances that she's doing on Dancing with the Stars. Now.
- 33:12Speaker 1: It is uh, it is unfortunate news. It does feel
- 33:15Speaker 1: I remember Shan Loe once told me that Dancing with
- 33:18Speaker 1: the Stars choosing to do it, uh is a very
- 33:23Speaker 1: difficult thing for relationship coming off the show, and so
- 33:26Speaker 1: it does not shock me. I would say that, you know,
- 33:31Speaker 1: this ended during Dance with the Stars because from everybody
- 33:33Speaker 1: I know, so a big time commitment. Um, there's a
- 33:36Speaker 1: lot going on, a lot of time apart. So I'm
- 33:39Speaker 1: very impressed with like Jason and Caitlin for making it
- 33:43Speaker 1: as Caitlyn one. Uh, you know, they found ways to
- 33:46Speaker 1: make this work amongst the craziness of the show. So
- 33:50Speaker 1: it is difficult, that's so true. But that being said,
- 33:54Speaker 1: they would have broken up anyway. And she did make
- 33:57Speaker 1: this statement on Dancing with the Stars last night, we
- 34:00Speaker 1: should mention that, yeah, well she's still on it. Go
- 34:04Speaker 1: vote for Gabby. But until next time, which is very soon.
- 34:09Speaker 1: This has been the Almost Famous podcast. This is episode
- 34:12Speaker 1: one of this week. It's another one of those long
- 34:16Speaker 1: drawn out weeks of Bachelor in Paradise. But until next time,
- 34:20Speaker 1: I've been Been, I've Been Ashley followed the Benn and
- 34:24Speaker 1: Ashley I Almost Famous podcast on iHeart Radio or subscribe
