- 0:05Welcome to Fast Cars, Fast Girls. My name's Abby Meyer, and we've got Sarah Proctor with us today.
- 0:10We'll be your host to talk about IndyCar and all things fast cars.
- 0:14Sarah, how are you this week?
- 0:16I'm good. How are you? Doing good. Doing good. Started a new job this week,
- 0:21which, you know, I don't really talk about my day job that much.
- 0:25But the important thing about this job is that they gave me all of the time off I wanted in May.
- 0:31And that's really what I'm looking for in a job.
- 0:35I'm jealous because I'm going to have to use a lot of PTO during May.
- 0:40Yeah, I am because I do the travel nursing gig.
- 0:43So if I don't work, I don't get paid. So I am taking one week of vacation during
- 0:47that time. So I'll have a week of unpaid. So I'll be jealous of your PTO.
- 0:52I don't have that much, but it's there. Yeah.
- 0:57Well, it has been a week. We've got another race. We've got all kinds of things
- 1:03we're going to discuss today.
- 1:04So we've had the Arlington race. We're going to talk about the season, possibly extending.
- 1:11We're going to talk a little bit about Sebring.
- 1:14And then we're going to talk about the 500 because we can always talk about the 500.
- 1:19Always. Always. So let's jump right in with Arlington.
- 1:24I'm going to say right away, I, now granted, I didn't have, it's not that I
- 1:30had low expectations for Arlington. I had good expectations because IndyCar puts on a great show.
- 1:34But that race far exceeded my expectations. That was awesome.
- 1:40I agree. when I started to see all the tweets from the drivers saying this track is awesome,
- 1:49and seeing other people say the vibes going on at the racetrack were cool. I was like, yes.
- 1:56I think as IndyCar fans in the past, we have been a little disappointed.
- 2:03And I think Jerry Jones knocked this one out of the park.
- 2:08Out of the park. And let me just say that the pre-race interview with Jerry Jones was fantastic.
- 2:15He he's a cool guy. He had a cameo, I think, in the show Landman.
- 2:23Which was a fantastic cameo. He's he's playing himself, but he's he's a cool guy.
- 2:30And I love that in the pre-race interview, he said that, you know,
- 2:34when he wanted to do this, he's like, you know, we're not going to have.
- 2:39I'm paraphrasing, but basically, we're not going to half-ass it.
- 2:42We're going to do this right. And they sure did.
- 2:47I mean, when they had cameras on the crowd, you could see six people wide and
- 2:54just the general admission areas.
- 2:55All of the grandstands were packed.
- 2:58That's, you know, that's how I kind of judge how well the race was attended.
- 3:03And all those grandstands were full.
- 3:06There was, like, no empty spaces. And it was really cool to see.
- 3:11It's great to see. Grandstands packed. And yeah, like you said,
- 3:15the GA, I mean, six, seven people deep just stacked out from the fences trying
- 3:21to see as much as they could.
- 3:22And another thing that I noticed from watching it on TV, I really wanted to go.
- 3:29Shout out to Barb, who runs the media center at IMS. I really tried because
- 3:33she ran the media center at Arlington.
- 3:35And so she tried really, really hard to get me to go. But job, job bullshit as it goes.
- 3:42However, on the broadcast, when I looked at the location of grandstands,
- 3:47the locations were fantastic.
- 3:49Because sometimes with street courses, where they have space to put grandstands
- 3:53aren't always exciting areas.
- 3:58Sometimes some of the grandstand locations are kind of duds.
- 4:01And it didn't seem like any of them were duds at this track.
- 4:05No, it really didn't. And I really want to go next year. Like,
- 4:10I think that's going to be on my to-go-to list next year because... I completely agree.
- 4:18It looked really good. And I'm usually a little...
- 4:26Apprehensive yes first year
- 4:29sure my dad oh it's like
- 4:32when you buy a car you never want to buy the first year car you always
- 4:35want to kind of wait make sure they get all the kinks out and then you know
- 4:40get the next year's model so let them work the bugs out on other people i'm
- 4:45not a beta tester you know exactly but it was yeah i'm with you we're we're
- 4:52in we are all in for arlington to next year.
- 4:54So we can start talking flights after this recording.
- 4:58Oh, yes. Hey, it's flying into Dallas with American.
- 5:03You could do it.
- 5:05Actually, you can take Spirit into Dallas as well, which is how I flew into
- 5:10Dallas last time that I went there.
- 5:12Oh, goodness. I don't know. I'm not brave enough to do Spirit. Did it once. Not again.
- 5:18That's what I'll say this year as well so that I could make it the cheapest trip possible.
- 5:25And before I flew Spirit the first time, I found an article because I just,
- 5:28you know, I don't remember exactly what I searched, but it was something along
- 5:32the lines of how to successfully travel on Spirit Airlines.
- 5:37And I found an article that was titled How to Fly Spirit Without Losing Your Damn Mind.
- 5:43And it's exceptionally helpful. So, you know, it's one of those,
- 5:48you just have to know what you're getting into. You have to kind of manage your expectations.
- 5:53And I also, I don't know when the last time you flew Spirit was.
- 5:55I feel like they have improved their service in general since the last time I flew.
- 6:02It felt very much like a more upscale airline than it did the last time that I flew with them.
- 6:09That's good. No, the last time I flew, I flew into Newark when they were having
- 6:15all those issues with air traffic controllers and not sharing like a bunch of those near misses.
- 6:23So that was the last and only time.
- 6:27That would probably probably turn me off from that as well. I can see that. I can see that.
- 6:32So, yeah, the racetrack, like we talked about last week, pretty lengthy for
- 6:38a street course. Love that.
- 6:39And can we talk about Cowboy Corner?
- 6:43That was cool. That was very cool. Very, very cool.
- 6:47I just love that the way the track was set up, you basically have two,
- 6:51you have one good size straightaway and then one giant ass straightaway.
- 6:58And you just, I love seeing them hit those speeds of 180, 190 on a street course.
- 7:05I'm pretty sure somebody said that the straightaway was even longer than Monza and F1. Wow.
- 7:17That's awesome. Yeah, pretty darn cool. Of course, I think they're better than F1.
- 7:24Yes. I still watch it all, though. I'm not.
- 7:28And I'll tell you what I tell everybody. I don't watch F1, and the reason why
- 7:33is because I don't like parades of any kind.
- 7:37So it's just not for me. Well, they kind of, in my opinion, missed the mark on the cars this year.
- 7:44So hopefully that will help us out in favor of IndyCar's upward trend. Right?
- 7:55Come on over to IndyCar. We're all family here. We'll take you in.
- 7:59We'll meet you. Come on in. Exactly.
- 8:04So Arlington, it looked awesome.
- 8:07Oh, and I thought of you when I saw the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders,
- 8:11since you had mentioned that they were going to be around.
- 8:14When I saw them on the broadcast, I was like, there they are.
- 8:17Yes. Well, and I was a little worried because I was hoping it wasn't going to be kitschy.
- 8:24And it wasn't. So I was very happy.
- 8:28Yeah. It wasn't kitschy. Nothing was kitschy or cliche.
- 8:33It just, everything was just top notch.
- 8:38Yes. I mean, the way that the way the track was laid out, the way that they
- 8:43did all the events surrounding the race, just high bar, a high bar for everything.
- 8:49And and they exceeded it. Love it.
- 8:53Love seeing that. So. All right. And I'll tell you what, in fantasy,
- 8:57I went back and forth and I almost picked Kirkwood because I thought to myself
- 9:02last season, he was one of the few drivers to steal a win away from Palo.
- 9:08And then I didn't, like an idiot. And I should have because he was our race
- 9:13winner and was named the street course king, which I love.
- 9:20Yes, he truly is. I mean, he earned that title for sure.
- 9:24I was very surprised when he did not get pulled. And then he came out and later
- 9:30said, yeah, that was on him.
- 9:32So he knew he missed out on that poll, but he more than made up for it, in my opinion.
- 9:40Well, and it was really nice to see Erickson get his first poll.
- 9:45He's had so many successes that that one was kind of a long time coming.
- 9:51Yes. Well, and he's striving for his spot. So I was very happy for him to get that poll, for sure.
- 9:59Love having him in the paddock. He's a funny guy, especially for being a sweep
- 10:04because they can be kind of dry.
- 10:06But he's a funny character. I enjoy him a lot.
- 10:11So, yeah. So, Kyle Kirkwood finished the race, won, just did amazing.
- 10:18I loved the interview with Pillow after the race.
- 10:21And, again, this is where he's just the nicest guy. You know,
- 10:24they, they asked him, do you think if, you know, you'd had more time that you
- 10:28could have caught him or done this and this and this, and below just goes, no, not today.
- 10:34And, and that's where I love him because he full on accepts,
- 10:41you know, his, his own limitations or, you know, whatever limitations are,
- 10:47are put on him by how the tires are doing, how the fuel mileage is, et cetera.
- 10:52And even though he has won four championships and zillions of races,
- 10:59he's not too proud to say, no, I didn't have the stuff to pull it off this weekend.
- 11:06I agree. I mean, he is definitely the new poster boy of IndyCar.
- 11:14He's very nice.
- 11:17You know, he'll say what it is. And I guess that's why people love to hate him.
- 11:25And you know i don't i don't hate him at all i love him i just you know i just
- 11:30never want to see one person win too many races in a row i like the variety
- 11:35i like to mix it up a little bit,
- 11:38i like when you know we get to the 500 and they say that every race has had a different winner,
- 11:44i i enjoy that so yes and then
- 11:48willie p i was gonna say he he didn't win but he still came in second yes and
- 11:54then willpower finally doing willpower things and getting a podium not overthinking
- 12:00it love to see that love to see that well I'll tell you what another thing with Kirkwood,
- 12:06two of his I say hit two of his pit stops were not great and.
- 12:15Even with that, he was able to get that win, which just speaks to his skill
- 12:21and his prowess on street courses.
- 12:24Yes. Well, and I feel like Andretti Global's Achilles heel are the pit stops at times.
- 12:32And it's just like, you watch them, and they're doing it, and then something
- 12:37always goes wrong. And I'm just like, no.
- 12:42Yeah. I uh yeah maybe maybe we need to go into the shop and like light some
- 12:47sage walk around with it do a smudging I don't I don't know what gremlins are
- 12:52happening but but yeah their pit stops are.
- 12:56Have consistently been a problem for years so anytime they have a problem I'm
- 13:03like come on guys come on this is not new let's let's get it together guys gals
- 13:08let's let's let's lock it up here. You're better than this.
- 13:12But, I mean, it turned out okay, because they had all three of their cars within the top five.
- 13:21It turned out okay, yeah. Absolutely.
- 13:24But also, it's bit them in the butt a few times, too, in the past.
- 13:29So, it's just like, come on, guys.
- 13:31I always think of that 500 where Rossi full-on, like, lost his shit and was,
- 13:36like, pounding on the steering wheel during his pit stop.
- 13:39Yeah. And hopefully, you know, I believe their management with Dan Taurus,
- 13:49like, he's not gonna, you know, he'll fix it.
- 13:55Shit, you don't get your shit together. Yeah.
- 13:59So I would, I mean, I've said this before, I love Will Power.
- 14:04I love that he podiumed this week.
- 14:07Great to see Will Power doing Will Power things.
- 14:10And there's nothing I would love more than a sequel power win the 500 this year.
- 14:16Yeah. I would not be opposed to it. He would make a good two-timer. Absolutely.
- 14:23And I want to hear him say motherfucker on the radio again.
- 14:28Because he says a lot of things on the radio, and obviously everybody knows
- 14:32I have a vocabulary like a sailor.
- 14:35You can thank my grandmother for that. That's not a joke. That's dead serious.
- 14:41But I He says a lot of things on the radio But MF is not a common one And when
- 14:46he screamed that when he won Show me respect motherfuckers,
- 14:51It was It was the best It was the best for me and I would love to see it happen again.
- 14:58Sorry, got it. No, you're good. All right, in fourth, Marcus Erickson.
- 15:04So, got us first pole. Had a nice, solid race. Nice. Yeah.
- 15:09Would have loved for Will to get by Alex and Marcus to get up there to do one,
- 15:17two, three. That would be great.
- 15:19Unfortunately, yellows at
- 15:21the end kind of put the kibosh on any additional movement, unfortunately.
- 15:28Yeah. Well, because I kind of want Andretti to go back to when it was all that
- 15:36massive podium where it was Dan Weldon, Tony Kanaan, Brian Hurta,
- 15:44Dario, all together. That big podium. Yeah. I want to see Andretti do that again.
- 15:53Yeah. Yeah, I supported all Andretti podiums. Let's make that happen.
- 15:59Expectation has been set and ready team you've heard it.
- 16:05Yep in the five out of award another solid race by him as always,
- 16:14and then seven aben malucas which awesome i mean just awesome brand new circuit
- 16:22i love seeing you And he's been in the series a little bit, but I think,
- 16:28were he and Kyle in the same freshman class? Did they start around the same time in IndyCar proper?
- 16:34I can't remember off the top of my head.
- 16:38I think Kyle was maybe a year before Dave. Yeah.
- 16:44Six. Malukas has the least experience, and so it was great to see him finish sixth.
- 16:50And the highest finishing Penske car, too. Sure was. Sure was.
- 16:58Seventh in the seven. Again, I love that. Way to go, Aaron McLaren.
- 17:02Five in the five, seven in the seventh.
- 17:04Christian Lundgaard, who he always puts up a solid race. He is always a solid contender.
- 17:10Yeah, I mean, between him and Pato, I mean, I would definitely expect either
- 17:18one of those two in the top 10 each time.
- 17:23Easily. Easily in the top 10 for sure. And then number eight,
- 17:28Scott Dixon, just working his way into the top 10, doing Dixon thing.
- 17:34Quietly going in there like the Iceman that he is, for sure.
- 17:40You know, he, I would love once his children are adults to like interview them
- 17:50about what he's like as a dad.
- 17:52Because I bet that, you know, Iceman, that he is, I would bet that he is not
- 17:58a dad that really yells i mean i'm sure there are days that he's like girls,
- 18:06get your shoes off the damn stairs you know i'm sure there are days that you
- 18:11know he's like all right i'm i tripped over your shoes again you know something
- 18:13but for the most part i bet that he is like you know sets the boundaries but is a super chill dad.
- 18:24Oh, I think him and Emma would be really cool parents.
- 18:29Oh, absolutely. Emma is just, she's a gem. I love her.
- 18:34And not just because I could like fold her up and put her in my purse, but she's just the best.
- 18:40If I could like carry her around with me all the time, I would.
- 18:43I love Emma Davies Dixon.
- 18:45She's so, she's just great. And they both have such great positive personalities too.
- 18:52Yeah. I bet they're super quiet parents.
- 18:56All right. Finishing ninth, Alexander Rossi. Speaking of new parent.
- 19:02Yes, that's right. Speaking of new parents.
- 19:06And then rounded up the top ten, Marcus Armstrong. Love to see it.
- 19:13Yep. Meyers Schenck. Meyers Schenck has, and I know they've got a technical
- 19:18alliance, but with Ganassi, right? Yes.
- 19:25Which obviously has helped them, and I love that.
- 19:28They have really come into their own in the last couple seasons of IndyCar,
- 19:33and I love to see it. And I think especially this season, they're really showing
- 19:37everybody that Meyers Schenck is a team to pay attention to. I agree.
- 19:47And then it looks like we have Colette after, or sorry, no, Scotty Mack. Scotty Mack.
- 19:58Thirsty Threes. Love it. He loved this course.
- 20:02He could not quit talking about how much he loved this course.
- 20:05Anytime he got interviewed, he was tweeting about it.
- 20:08I mean, I'm here for it. I'm here for the excitement.
- 20:11Yes. Excitement is genuine.
- 20:14Yes. He truly, you can tell when he's excited because he definitely gets super excited about it.
- 20:23Totally does. He was like kid on Christmas morning excited about this racetrack.
- 20:30Yes. And Kyle Collette. Yeah. But another rookie in this, you know, rookie class.
- 20:38Yeah. Doing really well. and from AJ Foyt which,
- 20:44has not historically been a team that does super well I mean that's been changing
- 20:50in the last couple seasons they're doing better and I love that I love to see them on the up and up,
- 20:54but to have your rookie come in 12th after that stacked top 10 and then Scotty
- 20:59Mack hell yeah is all I have to say to that hell yeah,
- 21:05well and with the you know rookie rankings I think it's going to be a light
- 21:10A lot tighter than we think it's going to be. So it's going to be very interesting.
- 21:15I agree. I think the Rookie of the Year race is going to be pretty tight.
- 21:20Pretty tight. Because they are all showing some promise. Mm-hmm.
- 21:28We haven't seen anything amazing out of Mick Schumacher yet,
- 21:31but again, he's kind of, since what happened to St.
- 21:36Pete, he didn't really get that experience on that street course,
- 21:39so I'll give him a few more races to kind of catch up to the other boys.
- 21:43Yeah. Yeah, I think, because I think that we're going to see more impressive
- 21:49things come out of him as the season goes on. I agree.
- 21:53And then, start at 13th, finish 13th, everybody's favorite police officer, Louis Foster.
- 22:02Yes, Mr. Mustache.
- 22:06Which, I mean, solid placement.
- 22:09And I'll tell you what, there is a lot to be said for bringing the car home in one piece.
- 22:15And Louis Foster is very good at bringing the car home in one piece.
- 22:19Well, and he finished higher than the veteran on the team, so.
- 22:25Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Graham, for making me look like an asshole,
- 22:28by the way. I was like, Graham should do good. There's potholes.
- 22:31He's from the Midwest, blah, blah, blah.
- 22:34And then, you know what? I'll just say, that's what happens when you wait too
- 22:39long to go out during the qualification time.
- 22:43Don't sit on pit lane and play with your dick. Get out there and put down a flyer.
- 22:51Because that red flag definitely screwed Graham.
- 22:56Yep. And then we have Renitz, who's doing good things for Dale Coyne. He is.
- 23:07And started 21st, finished 14th, so moved up seven spots. Fantastic.
- 23:12I forgot to mention with Scottie Mack, started 25th and finished 11th.
- 23:17So he moved up 14 spots, which is, I think he's our hard charger for the race. Which is awesome.
- 23:25Yep, and he finished ahead of Newgarden, so... Good.
- 23:30Yeah, Newgarden started 11th and finished 15th. Lost four spots. So, it hasn't...
- 23:36Yeah, I know he won Phoenix, but the streetcourses have not really been kind to Newgarden this year.
- 23:44No, but he's kind of...
- 23:49He lurks in the shadows, and you never know what could happen because all of
- 23:54a sudden he could be back there and then be up front with just how Penske does
- 23:59their undercuts and things.
- 24:03Sure. You never know. Working in the shadows is a great way to phrase that.
- 24:10Sorry if everybody just heard that sound. That was me knocking the pop filter off of my microphone.
- 24:17All right. Finishing 16th, Dennis Hauger.
- 24:22Another very decent finish for the rookie.
- 24:27He didn't DNF. I feel like anytime you don't DNF your car during a race, you are good.
- 24:34Yeah, I think that's a solid. Anytime you finish the race, that's a positive. I agree.
- 24:43Yep. And then Santino Ferrucci was behind him.
- 24:48And then you had Graham. And then you had Kiffin. Better, honestly.
- 24:55Yep. And then you had Rosenquist.
- 25:00And then Stingray. I stepped over you when you were talking about Kiffin.
- 25:06So, yeah, Kiffin in 19th, and then, yeah, was 21st. Yep.
- 25:13Stingray. Yep. And then Mick finishing.
- 25:21Stingray and Mick were both lap down at the end of the race there.
- 25:27And then you had Grosjean and then Nolan.
- 25:32And then you had Rasmussen. finishing Dead Blast, which was a surprise, but...
- 25:41After the show that he put on at Phoenix, it was, it was, like,
- 25:47night and day difference from Phoenix to this race for Rasmussen.
- 25:53So, I don't know, I don't know what exactly happened with all, with that.
- 26:00Well, I...
- 26:04I don't know, but I think he'll be back. I mean, you know he's a hard charger,
- 26:09and everybody has an off day.
- 26:15That's true. That is very true.
- 26:17And, you know, it was the third race weekend in a row, and that can be taxing physically.
- 26:25Yeah, and I think Nolan Siegel, I think we've said everything that we need to say about him.
- 26:34He's got to do something or he's not going to continue his tenure at Aaron McLaren that's for sure.
- 26:42Which is unfortunate because he is a very nice guy. And I feel like he's got the skills.
- 26:49He just doesn't have them all at the same time.
- 26:55Kind of remind me, some days I can drive really well and I hit the shit out
- 27:03of my woods and I do great. And then my putting game is crap.
- 27:06Other times, my long game is crap. My short game is fantastic.
- 27:10I just, I can never put it all together on the same day.
- 27:14It sounds like you have a better golf game than I did. I took golf lessons and
- 27:19the golf pro was a friend of ours.
- 27:22And he basically told me to stick to my sport, which was swimming.
- 27:28That's hilarious.
- 27:31Well, my golf coach, quote unquote, was my dad. So it wasn't optional.
- 27:37Though I would like to play the golf course at the Speedway,
- 27:41I feel like that would be fun.
- 27:43But I would make sure everybody was wearing football helmets so I didn't,
- 27:48like, line drive a ball to somebody's head.
- 27:52Girl, I'll go with you anytime. Also, I did not know you were a swimmer.
- 27:55We're going to go off on that. So what was your stroke?
- 28:00I was more distance swimmer.
- 28:05I would do breaststroke in the medley relay. I would be a butterflier.
- 28:12Fascinating. I did a little bit of everything. Typically, breaststrokers don't
- 28:16also do butterfly. Look at you.
- 28:19I know. Yeah, that's awesome. So I did distance, and I was backstroke and butterfly.
- 28:25Okay. Yeah. I don't like butterfly over a hundred yards.
- 28:32Yeah. I did. Did you do the year round swimming like the USS?
- 28:36Yeah, I did club. So. So you swim the mile and everything too?
- 28:42Actually, I never swim the mile. I just stuck with the 500, but I would have
- 28:46liked the mile and the thousand though.
- 28:48Yeah. The mile was fun. I enjoyed that. I enjoyed swimming the mile.
- 28:51And yeah, I always ended up in the 200 fly because I don't know,
- 28:57I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
- 28:59But I will say to this day, my backstroke is still faster than my freestyle.
- 29:04Every once in a while when I get in, I do swim a 25 of butterfly just to make sure I can still do it.
- 29:10Right, just you just gotta shake the dust off, like stretch the shoulders out. I'm with you.
- 29:15You know, it's funny, I do that too every now and then. I'm like,
- 29:17just gotta make sure I still got it.
- 29:19Well, and I think that's why I also like racing so much because,
- 29:22you know, those hundredths of a second make a difference.
- 29:30It's very similar. And well, and also just the way it's set up,
- 29:34you're on a team, but it's mostly individual events.
- 29:37And so it's very similar to racing as far as it being a quote team sport,
- 29:42but you're also on your own.
- 29:45Yeah, there's a lot of things. Which, by the way, if you're also a former swim
- 29:50team member, feel free to chat with us about that any time. Literally. Yes.
- 29:56Fun fact, Indiana actually has a bunch of really fast swimmers.
- 30:04We do. We really do. We've got...
- 30:08Shout out to Carmel Swim Team for winning state yet again.
- 30:13Ooh. What is that? Like the 45th time? I know. It's a little...
- 30:17I think it's like the 40th or something. Yeah.
- 30:20Okay. I was like, I said 45th, and I'm like, I know that's high, but not by a lot.
- 30:25So, yeah, I know. Ask the Swim Team. Yeah.
- 30:30They are... Yeah. And fun fact, the Natatorium.
- 30:34Is the fastest indoor pool in the country.
- 30:40Yes. Actually, I think it would be cool if IMS would do an outdoor swim meet.
- 30:49You could probably do a pool in the middle somewhere. It would be pretty neat.
- 30:57I will volunteer to do the chemicals for that.
- 31:01I was a lifeguard. I used to manage a pool, a 50-meter pool,
- 31:07and handle all the chemical.
- 31:08Well, there were pools I had to manage, but the biggest one was 50 meters with diving well.
- 31:12Yeah, and it was really cool the year that they had Lily King be the— she either
- 31:19drove the pace car or got to ride in the two-seater for one of the Grand Prixs,
- 31:24so that was always pretty cool.
- 31:28By the way, I'm about to do something that everybody knows the sound.
- 31:37So, I'm officially off work this morning, and I talked to Sarah about this a
- 31:41little before we recorded.
- 31:43Any of you who have seen me at the IMS in May know that I'm a big fan of the
- 31:49Bud Light Lime Burritos.
- 31:51What I'm a bigger fan of is the Cran Burritos, and they discontinued them in 2020.
- 31:55But they're back, baby! And I picked them up this morning, and that's what you deserve.
- 32:02I'm excited Yes, Abby's very excited I unfortunately am just drinking A Diet Coke Being responsible,
- 32:13Being responsible Alright So, great race I mean, I would I don't know what you're
- 32:21thinking But I would pretty much give that race A 10 out of 10,
- 32:25I agree, 10 out of 10 For sure,
- 32:31I think the only thing And it
- 32:34doesn't take away from the 10 out of 10 score I know they had high wins And
- 32:38so they couldn't get the second concert To go out for everybody Who bought those
- 32:44tickets So maybe you have all those stadiums right around there Open up the
- 32:49stadium so that they could have a concert But You have a little Yeah.
- 32:55But safety first always Yeah, and because of the wins, they moved up the start
- 33:01time, so they shortened the Indy Next race, which always kind of shakes things
- 33:07up and shakes up who was going to win.
- 33:09And on the short notice, it really messes with strategy.
- 33:12So unfortunately for the Indy Next drivers as well, because that affected their race day.
- 33:18But again, safety first.
- 33:20Yeah, and then I know a bunch of people from a lot of the teams couldn't get
- 33:25out of Dallas, and they were all stuck at the airport, so. Oh.
- 33:35Been there and done that at Dallas. It's not that fun, but.
- 33:40Funny, the last time that I flew in and out of Dallas, I left hours before there
- 33:45were wind issues and like a crane went down, downtown and people had flight issues.
- 33:50And all I thought was, thank God I left earlier.
- 33:55So, and then we were talking earlier, the views on the broadcast were insane.
- 34:06They were, they were. So how many was it that watched on Fox?
- 34:13I think it was 1.3 million. It's fantastic.
- 34:18Which is a very good number.
- 34:21It's an exciting number. as a fan for a long time you always saw the dismal scores and then,
- 34:32but I feel like now they're getting up there and people are watching so it was
- 34:39promoted well Fox always shows um.
- 34:45The races on commercials all the time. So it's good to see. It is. Yeah.
- 34:51A hundred percent shout out to Fox. They are doing a fantastic job of promoting
- 34:56and, and building up hype about the races.
- 35:00And, and obviously it's, it's working. That shows what it is.
- 35:04So I, although I am, and for any of you who also enjoyed the cheap price of
- 35:10Peacock and now have to pay more to watch it on Fox, I feel you, I feel you.
- 35:15I'm in the same boat i don't like that i have to pay for fubo now but you know
- 35:20what it comes with a free i get the like free dbr with it so i can record everything
- 35:25and go back and re-watch and,
- 35:28and the on track product is always fantastic but to see it promoted so well
- 35:32and reach so many people just makes my heart happy i love the new camera they
- 35:38did it was like the cockpit camera when they were driving and it was thick.
- 35:45My first point of view, basically.
- 35:47Yes. That camera was awesome. Whoever thought of that?
- 35:53That was great. I'll give them a raise. Yes. That was dope. That was fantastic.
- 36:01Well, in other news, there are rumors, there are mumblings, there's talk,
- 36:07because right now the IndyCar season ends before the NFL season starts.
- 36:13And so there are talks of extending it into the NFL season and promoting it
- 36:19and, you know, not competing with local NFL games in whatever,
- 36:25you know, city we would be in.
- 36:28But, you know, I'm always a fan of extending the season.
- 36:31More races means more joy in my life Count me in, 100% Sign me up Who do we have to talk to?
- 36:42Let's make it happen Yes, and about Arlington being around the NFL I know Fox
- 36:51had a post out What other NFL stadium you would like to see the races at I have a few,
- 37:01but some of the ones on their posts were like Green Bay, which don't get me wrong.
- 37:06Green Bay, very iconic football stadium.
- 37:10But you also have two very iconic Wisconsin tracks.
- 37:15You have Milwaukee and you have Road America.
- 37:19Agreed. Do we really need a third with it?
- 37:24Don't get me wrong. i would love to see it but
- 37:27you can't like don't go to the places that
- 37:30have the historical tracks i
- 37:34mean that are let's do
- 37:37a street course in downhunt indianapolis around lucas
- 37:40oil like are you kidding me we already have two races here so i'm with you and
- 37:45i say that as a packers fan okay i have been to lambo it was fucking fantastic
- 37:52highly recommend it even if you're not a Green Bay fan. It's just cool to go.
- 37:56It's a great atmosphere.
- 37:58But yeah, we have two permanent tracks already in Wisconsin.
- 38:02And if we're going to break out and start going to other, you know,
- 38:05where there are NFL stadiums, we need to go east.
- 38:08The East Coast is, I mean, they are just thirsty for a track near them.
- 38:16Because there are so many fans out there that do not have a close track to go to.
- 38:20If they come to a race, you know, it's a whole thing.
- 38:24Whereas those of us are located in the midwest most of
- 38:27the races we can drive to and it's not a big it's not a big thing so i would
- 38:34say and i know it's not east east but my if i was gonna pick a stadium i would
- 38:41pick three rivers i think it's called heinz now but i would pick pittsburgh,
- 38:47Uh, number one, cause my family's from Pittsburgh. So I have a little,
- 38:51I have some love in my heart for that city.
- 38:53Uh, but where the stadium is, is very cool.
- 38:57There's the three rivers there. There's cool stuff to do in Pittsburgh.
- 39:00There's a casino downtown for anybody like me, who's a borderline gambling addict.
- 39:05Uh, and there's, and it's not flat.
- 39:09Pittsburgh is not flat. So there'd be elevation changes. I think that would
- 39:12be fun, but there are also so many East coast teams that have huge fan bases
- 39:18that we could do a street rating.
- 39:21Like, oh, oh.
- 39:25Philadelphia would be cool. Jason Kelsey. Love it. The Kelsey family.
- 39:32You're all. Philadelphia sports fans in general are wild.
- 39:39They're wild. Even if they win, like, they burn the town down.
- 39:43And I'm not saying that I condone that behavior.
- 39:47But I do love anarchy a little bit. So I'm here for it.
- 39:51And yeah, I think a race where we could cheer for race cars and also say go birds, I'm here for it.
- 39:59Well, and even if they went to the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey,
- 40:04you're still right there by New York City.
- 40:09And that's just hard to pull up a street course that close to New York City
- 40:13because of the time that it takes to build the street course, etc.
- 40:18Yeah. And I know they did the Meadowlands back in the day, so.
- 40:22Oh, well, and me and, you know, probably two million other people have already
- 40:28said it a million times, but can we please go the fuck back to Watkins Glen?
- 40:33Please. I want it. I want to go.
- 40:37As long as we get rid of the arm co-barrier, please. Yes. Yeah, please.
- 40:44Congratulations. But let's make it happen.
- 40:48So, but yeah, there, and then, and even thinking like, you know,
- 40:53Southeast moving down, you know, there's not as many NFL stadiums there,
- 41:00but there's just other cool things.
- 41:02Like a street race in Seattle
- 41:05would be awesome I know that's more west
- 41:09yeah west west coast but Seattle would be a really cool one as well I think
- 41:14Atlanta would be super cool yeah you could do Atlanta and you yeah especially
- 41:22if you you know yeah you could I mean there's so many different college.
- 41:28You could partner with a college sport there. Yeah.
- 41:32Denver would be cool, too. Denver would be badass.
- 41:36Have the mountains in the background
- 41:38of an IndyCar race and the Bronco Stadium. Yeah. I'm here for that.
- 41:44Well, and Lewis Hamilton is part Bronco owner, so...
- 41:50You know, it's about time for Lewis Hamilton to drive the 500.
- 41:56I would love to see it. I think he could do it. No problem.
- 42:00I think he could absolutely do it. I think he would bring a zillion eyes to the sport.
- 42:06And yeah, he just seems like a good guy.
- 42:11Even from other reporters who have seen him in non-public instances,
- 42:18he just seems like he's a solid dude.
- 42:21Or if he would want to run that race.
- 42:27One-off, do that one? Yeah, no, I have to do the whole season.
- 42:31But yeah, do a one-off for the flag record.
- 42:33That would be so, I mean, it'd be iconic. It would be cool.
- 42:39So I'm all for it. I just want to make sure that we're not like crowding out
- 42:45some of the classic older tracks.
- 42:48Agree. I don't want to gain a street course at the cost of an existing permanent course.
- 42:56I don't want to i don't want to lose my ovals in milwaukee i don't
- 42:59want to lose road america because if you've ever been there they
- 43:03call it the national park of speed because it feels like you're
- 43:06in the middle of a national park that's how scenic it is it's beautiful it's
- 43:10wonderful there's elevation changes even if you're not on the racetrack just
- 43:14you know traveling around to campsites and things and yeah if you're going to
- 43:18throw on a green bay that's not the best choice in my mind because the Midwest
- 43:23is already pretty saturated.
- 43:26But don't do it and think that you're going to take away one of the other Wisconsin
- 43:31races we already have because Road America should never go anywhere.
- 43:37It's absolutely fantastic.
- 43:39And Milwaukee, we just got back.
- 43:42And as far as I'm concerned, you can have Milwaukee back when you pry it out
- 43:46of my cold, dead fingers. I love Milwaukee.
- 43:50Yep. Just make sure they talk to Jerry Jones so they know how to do it and it will all be good.
- 43:57Yeah, right? Let him be in charge of some of the planning because that man knows how to build hype.
- 44:05For sure. Absolutely does. Now, are you a Colts fan? What's your favorite NFL team?
- 44:11I am a Colts fan. I'm taking the brown paper bag off my head.
- 44:19And Carly Ursay, we trust. Excellent.
- 44:23Excellent. I tried being a Colts fan.
- 44:29So, like I said, my dad's whole side of the family is from Pittsburgh.
- 44:32So I grew up watching the Steelers. So I'm a Steelers fan and a Packers fan
- 44:36because I like to have a team in each conference.
- 44:39I'm a complicated individual.
- 44:42And so I try to be a Colts fan.
- 44:47And it just it wasn't for me. I have nothing against the Colts.
- 44:50I don't I don't have any ill will.
- 44:51Obviously, they're the hometown team. And, you know, when they're in the playoffs,
- 44:54I hope they do well. I root for them.
- 44:57And obviously, I'm from Indiana. And so I can confidently say that regardless
- 45:03of who my favorite teams are, fuck the Patriots.
- 45:09I'm not going to lie. When Tom Brady came out to introduce the pre-race last
- 45:18year at the 500 and to hear him boo, it was kind of fun.
- 45:22It was the shit. I booed. I booed.
- 45:27I 100% did. And I'm not really a public booer, but yeah, Tom Brady, no thank you.
- 45:37But I thought it was very cool he did come to a 500, so.
- 45:40That's cool. It was cool for him to come to a 500. And if I think about it too
- 45:44long, I'll be like, oh, I feel bad that we booed him.
- 45:46But, you know, off the cuff, Tom Brady, you know who you are.
- 45:50You know you deflated those balls.
- 45:55So speaking of races at other locations we've got Sebring,
- 46:02We do. And we have a lot of IndyCar drivers or other drivers related to other IndyCar.
- 46:14Yeah, I absolutely love that. I love when our IndyCar drivers get the opportunity to race an IMSA.
- 46:19And the fact that so many of them do shows you that it's not just a job for them.
- 46:25This is their passion because they have a week off work.
- 46:28And I'll tell you what, when I have a week off work, I'm not picking up extra
- 46:31shifts at a second hospital.
- 46:34Okay. That's not happening. But they just want to be in a car. They want to go fast.
- 46:39And I just love everything about that.
- 46:44Yep. Well, and starting off strong with the GTP class, you have Colton Hurta
- 46:51driving the Cadillac for Wayne Taylor Racing.
- 46:56That's going to be a fast car. Sure is. sure
- 46:59is and we've got scott dixon and
- 47:02the number 60 for meyer shank racing and an acura and they're
- 47:06starting on the front row i don't remember uh the 40s starting i know but i
- 47:10know the 60s starting on the front row but you know what wing tailor racing
- 47:13always does exceptionally well at imsa races yes and then polo is in the 93
- 47:21for meyer shank racing also in an acura I know.
- 47:25All very good, really fast drivers in that GTP class.
- 47:29It's going to be very cool to see. They're like closers.
- 47:34I feel all three of those drivers are, well, like we talked about with swimming,
- 47:39when you do the relays, the third leg is kind of the person that's like,
- 47:44if we're behind, who can catch us up to the leader? Exactly.
- 47:49Herda Dixon and below are all the guys that you want to plug into your third
- 47:53leg and be like, all right, anything that we have messed up so far.
- 47:57Fix it for us so that our anchor can come in and win this thing. Yeah.
- 48:03And then in the LMP2 class, we have Hunter McElroy and Toby Sowery.
- 48:10I know Hunter McElroy did a test for ECR this year.
- 48:16And then Toby has run a race for IndyCar before in the past.
- 48:22And yeah, I see. I see. Do you want to say what your note says? Because I love it.
- 48:26If there was any justice in this world, they would both be in IndyCar.
- 48:31100% correct. Hunter McElroy is spectacular. He's a spectacular human.
- 48:39He's a good driver. Actually, he's a great driver.
- 48:41And his interaction with crowds and with fans, etc., he already has that presence
- 48:50and that presence of mind to, you know,
- 48:53be generous to his fans and to take the time to talk to him,
- 48:58to sign things, take photos with kids, et cetera. And.
- 49:03You know, some of that can be learned, but he's too young to have already learned
- 49:09all that, you know, so it's like it's second nature for him.
- 49:13And so that, coupled with his driving skill, I'm with you.
- 49:16If there was any justice in the world, Hunter would be in an Indy car right
- 49:19now, and same for Toby as well.
- 49:22And then in the GTD Pro, sorry, tongue twister there, our former,
- 49:30our just recent race winner, Kyle Kirkwood, driving for Vassin Sullivan Racing.
- 49:37Oh, Lexus. Fancy schmancy.
- 49:41Yes, and then in the GTD category, Mr.
- 49:45Callum Eilat, who used to run for Prima last year, and he's going to be driving
- 49:51the right motorsports for us.
- 49:53I love Callum Eilat, by the way. He is one of the most delightful people to speak with.
- 50:00He always looked very nice, so I've never met him, so I don't know.
- 50:08I'm sure we'll see him at Trek somewhere.
- 50:10Yeah. Well, and then I saw on a post that Rock the pink Porsche is going to
- 50:18be racing alongside Rexy this weekend.
- 50:24I love when that happens.
- 50:28So, always fun to see those. Yes. And you know what? Good on those teams.
- 50:34Like, make a livery worth talking about.
- 50:38Make it look like a dinosaur. I'm here for it. Give it a name.
- 50:43Well, and when they were at Indy in the fall, all the kids that were there were around those cars.
- 50:52And they were just, they're just cool cars.
- 50:55There are cool cars. And kids were all around.
- 50:59And then they even had, I don't know if they were team members or whoever,
- 51:03but they had the like blow up T-Rex suits, but in the colors of the cars.
- 51:09Yes, that was great.
- 51:12Fantastic. My mom and I took my youngest niece and nephew over there and they
- 51:17just loved it. Oh, my gosh. They love those cars.
- 51:19They love the dinosaurs. Of course, my nephew kept trying to like kick the tail
- 51:24of the one dinosaur because boys.
- 51:27And then the funniest part about that, this past year, I didn't even try to
- 51:34introduce the kids to anyone because the year before, I kept running into drivers that I knew.
- 51:41We took a photo with Sabra Cook and this and that. And I was like,
- 51:44this is a race car driver.
- 51:46Like this is one of Aunt Abby's friends. And her name's Sabra. And.
- 51:50I'll tell you what, I don't think I've ever before seen the look,
- 51:57a look in the eyes of a five and six year old of like,
- 52:00I don't give a fuck more than I did in that moment. I was like,
- 52:04she's a race car driver. And they're like, OK.
- 52:08Well, you know, you have a good livery when you can get a Lego of that car. Right.
- 52:20That's the bar. Yes.
- 52:26Lego, please. IndyCar Legos, please.
- 52:30Please, please, please, please, please. I know you can get the Pagoda at the
- 52:34IMS Museum, but give me some classics.
- 52:43You know, give me like an A.J.
- 52:46Foyt. do like the four winners or something, please.
- 52:51Yes. And the Marvin Wasp, come on now. I want to build that out of Legos.
- 52:57Well, they have the Ford Model T out, and so the Marvin Wasp would be perfect.
- 53:03It'd be perfect. But yeah, like AJ's cars, Rick Mears, Alio's...
- 53:11Got to do Mario's 1969 car. Just some of the classics and then a newer one.
- 53:17So, I mean, if they can make orchids out of Legos, then we should be able to
- 53:23make any cars out of Legos.
- 53:25Yeah, I'm all in for that plan. Don't get me wrong.
- 53:29Like, all the F1 cars, it's fun.
- 53:33But, like, the only ones you can really do with Legos right now is if you,
- 53:38like, they're fan-built ones. and then you have to like order the Legos separately.
- 53:45It's not a kit. It's like Frankenstein. Yeah.
- 53:50Good kit. I want an IndyCar kit. Yes. I'm an adult Lego fan and I want IndyCar Legos, please.
- 53:58Yes. Legos were one of my favorite toys growing up.
- 54:03Did you ever play with K'Nex? Do you remember when those came out?
- 54:07I did not, but I always wanted the
- 54:09K'Nex. roller coaster? I got the roller coaster for Christmas one year.
- 54:16And I'm such a nerd that because it had a loop in it, right?
- 54:21And so I built it like that. And then I decided I want to change the track.
- 54:26And I should have known then that I was going to end up with a degree in science
- 54:29or some sort of STEM degree, because then I decided that I wanted to change
- 54:34the layout of the racetrack and I or of the roller coaster.
- 54:38And I and I made my own with the connects and with extra connects that I had from other sets.
- 54:43Nice. No, we did. My brother had a Hot Wheels set, and we would always make
- 54:49a big oval with the Hot Wheels.
- 54:54Gotta have a big oval. Yep. Got you. Got you. I love that.
- 55:02All right, we're going to... Actually, before we move on to our next thing in

- 55:48So keep it up. We're happy to interact with you. And if you see us at a racetrack,
- 55:52make sure you holler out and say hi.
- 55:54Or at the very least, take a funny photo of us and then post it online and tag
- 55:58us in it. That's totally fine, too.
- 56:03It's kind of my favorite. The first couple of years of the podcast that would
- 56:06happen where people would take photos and then tag Molly and I,
- 56:10and we would like just see a tweet and we're like, oh my God,
- 56:12that was us 20 minutes ago.
- 56:14And it wasn't creepy in the least. And I know my voice just sounds like I'm
- 56:18being sarcastic all the time. It really wasn't.
- 56:20It was entertaining and hilarious every time. So, yeah, if you just want to,
- 56:25like, if you see us and you just want to snap a picture and add a caption,
- 56:28I'm here for it all day long.
- 56:32Just please tag us because I want to see the joke so I can laugh at it.
- 56:37So, next thing we're going to move into, Daniel Dye had some comments about David Maloukas.
- 56:46And first off, I just say, Daniel, not cool.
- 56:51But also, of all the people to make fun of, David Maloukas?
- 56:58I mean, he's like everybody's kid brother. He's the nicest guy. He's so genuine.
- 57:06I just don't get it I mean Yeah
- 57:12Like some people You know what That's where
- 57:15the phrase It sucks to suck
- 57:18Comes from Is things like that Like well Sucks to suck Because who would make
- 57:22fun Of David Malukas He's the best I mean That guy makes time For everybody
- 57:29And he's genuine He's positive I mean that's not That's not an act he puts on.
- 57:35That's literally who he is 24-7.
- 57:38And also, it's 2026.
- 57:44We're not making gay jokes. That's not a thing we do anymore.
- 57:49So, like, take a breath. Grow up a little. Try again.
- 57:59Unfortunately, the internet is toxic.
- 58:05Definitely can be, that's for sure.
- 58:11Shoot, I can't remember what show it was. I'm always watching like six shows.
- 58:15But there's some show I'm watching that...
- 58:20Gosh, I'm sure I've said uh 50 times in this podcast. There's some show I'm
- 58:24watching that it was discussing like the very beginning of the internet and
- 58:31said something along the lines of,
- 58:36you know, oh, people communicating from all over the world. I can't see how
- 58:40that could possibly be bad.
- 58:41And I just laughed because I thought, you know, we all probably felt that way at some point.
- 58:46And then the internet happened and we were like, oh, no, some of you should just stay in your hold.
- 58:53Maybe we should.
- 58:56Let's just not... Let's just not pick on Dave. No need for it.
- 59:03Little Dave alone. Okay?
- 59:06He's ours. We love him. Yeah. I feel about little Dave like I do about my nephews.
- 59:11If you're coming for little Dave, you're coming for me.
- 59:16We're not having any part of that.
- 59:20None whatsoever. Which our Our other co-host Mike,
- 59:27Had some choice words About that situation So I'll let him say them When he
- 59:35records with us next week So but Mike We got your back buddy We're with you
- 59:40Just be kind guys Just be compliant,
- 59:46Can't say anything nice Don't say anything at all,
- 59:51But if it's funny, you can say it to me. Say it publicly.
- 1:00:01I think, what is it? Steel Magnolias has the quote, if you can't say anything
- 1:00:04nice, come sit next to me.
- 1:00:08That's how I feel. I'm like, I feel like that. That phrase.
- 1:00:12All right. Now, on to the Super Bowl of our sport.
- 1:00:18It's never too early to start talking about it. The Indy 500.
- 1:00:25We've got some drivers who did not get a full-time ride, but have announced
- 1:00:30their Indy 500 rides. Who we got, Sarah?
- 1:00:33We got Mr. Connor Daly. Woo-hoo! Hometown hero. We're all here for that.
- 1:00:40Yes. Yes. Exciting. He's driving for Dry Iron Rhein Bowl.
- 1:00:44Wow. So, they almost won it last year if Hunter Ray didn't have issues. Yeah.
- 1:00:54Yeah. Honestly, Ryan Reinbold, and I think it's all the more impressive for
- 1:01:02a team that doesn't run full-time to do as well as they do.
- 1:01:07Okay. Yeah, they tend to do exceptionally well,
- 1:01:12especially considering that they don't have the benefit of tuning these cars
- 1:01:17for the whole season and all the extra miles on pavement that the other drivers get.
- 1:01:23So, yeah, I'd love to see a Dreyer and Reinhold win. I'd love to.
- 1:01:28I would full on lose my shit. Like there are many things on race day that make me cry.
- 1:01:35Back home again in Indiana gets me every time.
- 1:01:38Taps. Taps.
- 1:01:41Every year, taps, man. 400,000 people in one place and you can hear a pin drop.
- 1:01:48If that number gets here to your eye, you're not alive. But if Conor Daly wins, I will ugly cry,
- 1:01:56I think it would be crazy It would be pandemonium Oh, yes, the stands would
- 1:02:02go insane I think the snake pit might actually stop the concert And pay attention
- 1:02:09to the race if Conor Daly wins,
- 1:02:12Agreed.
- 1:02:15Yeah. Which we were talking earlier. They have announced the Snake Pit concerts.
- 1:02:21They have not announced Carb Day yet. And as soon as they do,
- 1:02:25we will share everything. We'll pass it along.
- 1:02:32Hopefully, Doug Bowles listened to our podcast last week.
- 1:02:37Backstreet Boys for next year, please. Please, please, please.
- 1:02:42You know what? even though they were like competing bands I would love to see
- 1:02:46like Backstreet Boys and NSYNC all on the same day on Carp Day that would be,
- 1:02:52insane I would feel like I was in high school again and I'm okay with that I
- 1:02:56know all the words to all the songs and I'm okay with that,
- 1:03:02that would be yeah it would be insane you know what if you want to bring more
- 1:03:05women to the track Backstreet Boys and NSYNC for Carp Day that's what you need to do laughing laughing,
- 1:03:13Oh, well, speaking of the 500, the pace car driver for this year's 500.
- 1:03:20Oh, wait, you forgot. Takuma Sato.
- 1:03:22Oh, that's right. Sato. Yes.
- 1:03:27And who's he driving for?
- 1:03:31Rahal Annigan. Yes. I love it. Which, there's a very good chance he could win
- 1:03:37a third. Very good chance. Yes.
- 1:03:40He's a super nice guy, too, in person. Oh, my gosh. So gracious.
- 1:03:44So wonderful. And if you ever have the opportunity to have something signed
- 1:03:48by him, you can ask him to sign it in Japanese. And he will.
- 1:03:53And so for me, I think that's cooler because that's his native tongue.
- 1:04:00That's how he's used you know that's how he typically signs his
- 1:04:03name in japan and so for me if i'm going to get something signed by sato i want
- 1:04:08it in japanese but so if you're getting something signed ask for him to do it
- 1:04:13in japanese it's just pretty cool that's cool yes though i do have to say the
- 1:04:18pace car driver is going to be pretty darn cool it's although oh real quick Like,
- 1:04:22there's a rumor about a possible Indy car, Indy 500 ride that I want to.
- 1:04:28So there is a rumor that AJ Fort Racing is going to have a third car.
- 1:04:36And that driver might be Catherine Legg.
- 1:04:41Okay. As long as she brings back Elf Cosmetics.
- 1:04:46Amen to that. Oh, my gosh. I loved the Elf activation.
- 1:04:51I am literally wearing Elf lip gloss right now.
- 1:04:55In my purse are at least five Elf products at all times.
- 1:05:02And Kat is just, she's just fantastic. So, I would.
- 1:05:05Yes, she's very nice. but yes please
- 1:05:09bring back the elf cosmetics that
- 1:05:12was the coolest activation ever yes
- 1:05:16oh my gosh it was fantastic and i've
- 1:05:20gone to races for a long time and you know you always look at the car you know
- 1:05:25look at you know different brands of cars and then you know fill out the thing
- 1:05:28and then you know get a t-shirt um walking through and asking if you wanted
- 1:05:35your lips done your eyebrows was done,
- 1:05:37wanted some, you know, skin tint.
- 1:05:40That was amazing. And you got free products. Yeah.
- 1:05:45Yes. It was, yeah. It was everything that an activation should be.
- 1:05:52And especially as a woman where, you know, you walk through,
- 1:05:55you fill up the thing, you get the t-shirts. They're all men's t-shirts.
- 1:05:59You know, it's eight to pick your men's size. They don't fit like you want them
- 1:06:03to because we're women and we have boobs and hips and blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:06And then you have this activation that is for women.
- 1:06:10Well, not necessarily for women, for anybody who wears makeup.
- 1:06:15And it just is fantastic. It just, you know, you felt seen.
- 1:06:20You felt appreciated for being there. And you felt pretty good.
- 1:06:24Well, and there was a lot of guys going through getting makeup samples for their
- 1:06:31girlfriends and their wives.
- 1:06:34Yeah. Which, I mean... To all the men who did that, well done.
- 1:06:39Well done. You understood the assignment. You went to the racetrack and drank
- 1:06:42all day, and you brought your wife home makeup or your girlfriend home makeup.
- 1:06:46Well done. Next time, though, we're going to the track.
- 1:06:50Mm-hmm.
- 1:06:54All right, I think that's all I have on rumors. Okay.
- 1:06:59No, but Mr. Signetti, driving the pace car.
- 1:07:05Oh, Kurt Signetti, and if you don't know who he is, then you've been under a
- 1:07:12rock for the last six months.
- 1:07:14He is the head coach of Indiana University football, who...
- 1:07:20Had an insane football season. went undefeated for the first time since the 1800s.
- 1:07:31And, I mean, so I'm a Hoosier, born and raised here. I went to IU. I'm an alum.
- 1:07:40I used to get season tickets when we didn't win any games.
- 1:07:44And so to see them be national champions, I mean, just unbelievable.
- 1:07:51So exciting. And then for the IMS to recognize how huge of a deal that was and
- 1:07:58having to be the pace car driver is just perfection.
- 1:08:01I don't have a better word for it. It's perfection. It's the perfect choice for this year.
- 1:08:06Yeah. If they didn't do that. Yeah. I mean, I don't know who else you would have chosen.
- 1:08:13No. I mean, yeah. And I say that this being with the Olympics having been this
- 1:08:22year, I still think Signetti was the best choice.
- 1:08:26Yeah, 100%. And it'll be very cool.
- 1:08:29And if we can get him to crack a smile while he's driving the pace car, even better.
- 1:08:37Even better. Gosh, I just I don't know how you could drive a car around that
- 1:08:42place and not have the hugest grin on your face.
- 1:08:45I feel like a smile is going to happen.
- 1:08:50For sure I love it although sometimes they have to wear a helmet so maybe we'll
- 1:08:56just see his eyes maybe we'll just see the smile in his eyes oh,
- 1:09:03for sure I'm here for it I'm here,
- 1:09:09all I have to say to Kurt Cignetti is thank you thank you it was a great season
- 1:09:16to watch enjoy driving the pace car.
- 1:09:24Well, we have an off week this week, so a little bit of time for the drivers
- 1:09:28to catch their breath, a little bit of time for, you know, all of us to find
- 1:09:31something else to do on a Sunday.
- 1:09:34Basketball. Yep, that's right. March Madness.
- 1:09:38March Madness. How could I forget that? I am a Hoosier after all. Yep.
- 1:09:42March Madness. My bracket is busted already, but I'm all right.
- 1:09:47You know, I didn't get one in this year, but I typically do not do well.
- 1:09:56Mostly because basketball is not a sport that I really follow a lot,
- 1:10:00so I don't know much about the teams.
- 1:10:03And so sometimes I'll look some stuff up, although sometimes that feels like cheating.
- 1:10:06I'm like, is it cheating or is it an open book test? I don't know.
- 1:10:10But yeah, so yours is already busted. mine
- 1:10:13is already busted but um i'm
- 1:10:16not saying who i really want to win
- 1:10:19because i don't want to jinx them that's fair
- 1:10:22if you if you catch my drift and i didn't even pick them from my bracket for
- 1:10:27that sole purpose so you know what i have done brackets i typically did more
- 1:10:34than one because i would do one where i would do research and you know who's
- 1:10:38most likely to win etc etc and then i always would have one where Indiana wins it all.
- 1:10:45Because, you know, that's my dream. Yeah. So I was like, well,
- 1:10:50okay, one of these, one of these brackets is based on knowledge.
- 1:10:53And one of these brackets is based on love.
- 1:10:58Just passion, and that's okay. I think next year I want to do just an all upset bracket.
- 1:11:05Oh, like pick all the least likely winners? Yeah. Just to see.
- 1:11:12That'd be kind of fun. You know
- 1:11:14what? I bet that when it's busted is much later than a regular bracket.
- 1:11:23Yeah. But mine has definitely been busted, and I'm sure everybody else's is, too.
- 1:11:30That's the fun part about watching March Madness. The upsets. Yes.
- 1:11:36Oh, yeah, because those 16 seats sometimes come out of nowhere,
- 1:11:39and you're like, where the hell was that game your whole season? Yeah.
- 1:11:43Or, you know, a number one seat almost getting beat yesterday.
- 1:11:51I actually— I was kind of sad they didn't get beat after hearing that one of
- 1:11:57their players was like, yeah, we weren't expecting to have that much of a game.
- 1:12:02And I'm like, there's your issue right there.
- 1:12:06That's your problem. Yeah, you need to bring your A game every time, my friend.
- 1:12:11You're not ever phoning it in. This is March Madness.
- 1:12:17That's funny. Yeah. All right,
- 1:12:20well, we've got a week off uh next week we'll be dropping the episode a little
- 1:12:24bit earlier so on wednesday or thursday so we can talk all about barber and
- 1:12:30and birmingham alabama uh barber is a fantastic racetrack cleanest porta-potties
- 1:12:37of any racetrack in the country.
- 1:12:42The time that I went, there wasn't a single time that when I went to the port-a-potty,
- 1:12:46every time I went to the port-a-potty, I was the first person to use it since it had been cleaned.
- 1:12:52Nice. I have not gone, but it's on my bucket list.
- 1:12:58It's, I unfortunately have to work, so I won't be able to go this year.
- 1:13:01That was the trade-off. To get all the days off I wanted in May,
- 1:13:05I had to give up barber this year.
- 1:13:09So, sorry, Ellen. I will see you next year. Yeah, no.
- 1:13:14I want to go very badly, so it's going to be on my bucket list,
- 1:13:19but I can't swing it this close either, but that's okay.
- 1:13:25All right, we've got next year. We can make plans for 2027. Barbara's not going
- 1:13:28anywhere, that's for sure.
- 1:13:29So I hear the Buc-ee's is fantastic. Oh, it absolutely is.
- 1:13:37I love a good Buc-ee's. I mean, who doesn't?
- 1:13:43I went to my first Buc-ee's on the way to Nashville this past year,
- 1:13:48and it was very interesting.
- 1:13:51Experience. It was an experience, yes. The whole thing. I got fudge the last time I went and brisket.
- 1:14:00I will say they have some really good selections of food, which,
- 1:14:06Buc-ee's, why aren't you an IndyCar sponsor?
- 1:14:09I mean, honest to goodness, they
- 1:14:12should sponsor ECR because nobody loves Buc-ee's more than Brie from ECR.
- 1:14:21Like, they should, yeah. Or, you know, be a sponsor of one of the races.
- 1:14:27I mean, I'm proud, too. It'd be a pretty cool delivery. And they can change
- 1:14:33it up like they change up their little holiday shirts.
- 1:14:36Yes. And they could even have a mascot, like the Buc-ee's mascot,
- 1:14:43like we have the Firestone Firehawk.
- 1:14:45Yep. That would be a good little battle. It really would. It really would.
- 1:14:54Yes. Fantastic. So yeah, Buc-ee's, we could make a fantastic livery.
- 1:14:59I'm here for it. Definitely.
- 1:15:03Here for all of it. Well, everybody enjoy your off weekend.
- 1:15:09We'll see you next week. We absolutely will. Take care. Thanks for listening.
- 1:15:15Bye. Bye.
