- 0:01Speaker 1: This episode is brought to you by P and C Bank.
- 0:03Speaker 1: A lot of people think podcasts about work are boring,
- 0:06Speaker 1: and sure they definitely can be. But understanding a professionals
- 0:10Speaker 1: routine shows us how they achieve their success little by little,
- 0:14Speaker 1: day after day. It's like banking with P and C Bank.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It might seem boring the safe plan and make calculated
- 0:21Speaker 1: decisions with your bank, but keeping your money boring is
- 0:24Speaker 1: what helps you live or more happily fulfilled life. P
- 0:27Speaker 1: and C Bank Brilliantly Boring since eighteen sixty five. Brilliantly
- 0:32Speaker 1: Boring since eighteen sixty five is a service mark of
- 0:35Speaker 1: the PNC Financial Service Group, Inc. P and C Bank
- 0:39Speaker 1: National Association Member FDIC.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Like, if you look at Africa today, I mean you
- 0:44Speaker 2: look at all of this, right, you look at Guinei
- 0:46Speaker 2: and whatever you see here, you go to Senegal, you
- 0:49Speaker 2: go to Courtney Vonder, you're gonna say the same. So
- 0:51Speaker 2: this is kind of like America back in the mid
- 0:54Speaker 2: eighteen hundreds, early nineteen hundreds, right, So back then the
- 0:58Speaker 2: problem with the so it's like they're looking at America
- 1:01Speaker 2: as the wild West, whereas like investment is really risky.
- 1:05Speaker 2: So but the early investors like the Conoguies, the Rocker
- 1:08Speaker 2: Colors and all of that.
- 1:09Speaker 3: The ones that took the risk early on.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Today they didn't want to control the financial industry in
- 1:14Speaker 2: the state, which means they control the financial industry globally, right,
- 1:18Speaker 2: And so Africa is at that point today. So you
- 1:20Speaker 2: have and you have a lot of investors actually interested
- 1:23Speaker 2: in Africa, but there's still that what if, right, like
- 1:27Speaker 2: the risk and like and mostly it is like connected
- 1:29Speaker 2: to political problems because you look at it where like
- 1:32Speaker 2: ow politically most of the countries are not stable. Like
- 1:36Speaker 2: you look at Guinea for example, Guinea hold the lowest
- 1:38Speaker 2: depths in Africa. But a lot of the investors they
- 1:41Speaker 2: look at that, which is amazing. But the problem is
- 1:44Speaker 2: politically Guinea has been challenged for the past twenty years,
- 1:46Speaker 2: right since we lost Lanstan La Conte. You had militaries,
- 1:50Speaker 2: militaries and right now we have the military. They want
- 1:52Speaker 2: to do good things, but it's like you know, from
- 1:55Speaker 2: like an American or like a European or Japanese. You
- 1:59Speaker 2: know me as a as an African who's an American,
- 2:01Speaker 2: I can understand it. You know, I can get my
- 2:03Speaker 2: money in America, bring it to Africa. I have my
- 2:05Speaker 2: family here, right, It's like I'm not risking much. But
- 2:08Speaker 2: let's say for somebody like you, you don't have anyone
- 2:10Speaker 2: in here, right.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Like your risk is too high.
- 2:13Speaker 2: If you look at it from a financial perspective, these
- 2:15Speaker 2: are all huge opportunities.
- 2:17Speaker 3: These are like a real set opportunities.
- 2:19Speaker 2: But it's like the customer is, if you put some money,
- 2:22Speaker 2: what guarantees do you have?
- 2:24Speaker 3: You know you're not going to lose your money.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You see, like a building like that, that building costs
- 2:28Speaker 2: around five million dollars, but actually the Green World Yeah, yeah,
- 2:32Speaker 2: that building right there, it cuts around five million dollars.
- 2:35Speaker 2: They already made a reason on their investment because you
- 2:37Speaker 2: know how much they can sell an apartment. They can
- 2:39Speaker 2: sell apartment for like a million dollars easy. It's it's insane. Yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 2: it's crazy. Like a rent like for a building like
- 2:48Speaker 2: that can go easily five thousand dollars a monthey. Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 2: so because most of the people that live in it
- 2:54Speaker 2: is dasporous, like me or people who work in the
- 2:56Speaker 2: mining sector, you know, like big enterprises they have money
- 2:59Speaker 2: they uh, they take.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Rent for their executives, right or ministers.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Because you have the President Palace right there, you have
- 3:07Speaker 2: all the minister of Economy and Finance are rare, so
- 3:10Speaker 2: most of the time they don't want to go home,
- 3:12Speaker 2: so they rather take apartments in downtown. So the rent
- 3:15Speaker 2: is like crazy, yeah exactly, they can get back tomorrow.
- 3:19Speaker 3: But who's the people that actually are taking a risk
- 3:21Speaker 3: right now right now? Chinese? Number one. The Chinese.
- 3:24Speaker 2: See those buildings are owned by Turkis, yeah, both of them.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So the Chinese, the turkis a little bit of Americans
- 3:33Speaker 2: Europeans less because now the Americans are more like you know,
- 3:39Speaker 2: like from a geopolitics, it's like the Americans are kicking
- 3:43Speaker 2: out the Europeans when we talk about Europeans like the
- 3:45Speaker 2: French in a way. Right, So you have you have
- 3:48Speaker 2: some Americans that are coming to invest a little bit,
- 3:50Speaker 2: but number one is the Chinese. And then also you
- 3:53Speaker 2: got the Russians. So which is one of the many reasons,
- 3:56Speaker 2: Like the Americans like somebody like us who's like an
- 3:59Speaker 2: Africa like Indian in my case, at the same time,
- 4:01Speaker 2: an American like I'm close with the American ambassador, like
- 4:05Speaker 2: not just here, but a couple of countries.
- 4:07Speaker 3: They try to leverage people like us.
- 4:09Speaker 2: The company small Americans that come because they losing the
- 4:12Speaker 2: game to the Chinese and to the Russians. It's like
- 4:15Speaker 2: they don't want that. Like most of the roads here
- 4:17Speaker 2: are done by the by the Chinese. Like you know,
- 4:20Speaker 2: we talk about Humandu, right, the biggest project in Guinea
- 4:22Speaker 2: today fifty percent ownership.
- 4:24Speaker 3: It's owned by Sinfer, which is a Chinese company.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Right, So the Chinese are the biggest risk takers, and
- 4:30Speaker 2: then the Saudist the Emiratis. So first the Chinese, second
- 4:34Speaker 2: the Arabs taught the Russians, and then you have the Americans.
- 4:39Speaker 4: It's a it's a common thing as we go to
- 4:40Speaker 4: country the country.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, common same thing.
- 4:43Speaker 4: So most people know mining there in Guinea. Yeah. What
- 4:46Speaker 4: are some of the other areas those apart.
- 4:49Speaker 2: From yeah, uh definitely real estate, second agriculture. We'll be
- 4:53Speaker 2: working on a project that uh division. We're calling it,
- 4:57Speaker 2: uh the tenne of Vision.
- 5:00Speaker 3: It is the feed to West Africa because.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Guinea today, Guinea is an important around one point two
- 5:05Speaker 2: billion dollars a year.
- 5:06Speaker 3: What of sugar? It's insane and it's important around one
- 5:10Speaker 3: point one billion dollars what of rights?
- 5:12Speaker 2: Right, So it's ridiculous So we've been in this discussion
- 5:15Speaker 2: with the Brazilians because everybody knows today Brazil they become
- 5:19Speaker 2: the number one agriculture country because Brazil became Brazil because
- 5:23Speaker 2: of agriculture. You know, they're taking up even the state
- 5:26Speaker 2: when it's come to Cardo farming.
- 5:28Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So we've been discussing with the Brazilians a Bruston partners,
- 5:31Speaker 2: you're a couple of weeks ago. So we're trying to
- 5:34Speaker 2: do how to bring that Brazilian technology into agriculture to
- 5:39Speaker 2: develop Guinea because Guinea holds forty percent of West Africa's
- 5:44Speaker 2: arable land, so that means Guinea can feed West Africa basically,
- 5:48Speaker 2: but nobody knows that because everybody knows about When you
- 5:51Speaker 2: talk about Guinea, they talk about box side, they talk
- 5:54Speaker 2: about iron or the like, they talk about the mind
- 5:56Speaker 2: because that's what everybody knows about Guinea is that wealthy
- 5:59Speaker 2: country that have all types of minerals. Right because today
- 6:03Speaker 2: guineas exporting around nine billion dollars just gold.
- 6:08Speaker 3: To Dubai alone.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Right, So the economy of Guinea is divided between box
- 6:13Speaker 2: side and gold. The government and entrepreneurs like us, we
- 6:17Speaker 2: want to change that. We want to change the narrative
- 6:19Speaker 2: a little bit. But so in hey, it's not just
- 6:21Speaker 2: about mind. There's a huge opportunities out there that a
- 6:26Speaker 2: lot of people can make a lot of money, Like
- 6:27Speaker 2: you know, well potential investors can make a huge return
- 6:31Speaker 2: on the investment apart from the mining set.
- 6:34Speaker 5: So China invested heavy, all the Arab countries invested heavy.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Like why is it important for black Americans and the
- 6:42Speaker 5: diaspora to invest?
- 6:44Speaker 2: I mean, for me, it's pretty Uh, it's a it's
- 6:47Speaker 2: a it's a null braining because when you talk about
- 6:50Speaker 2: I mean for me, and you know, when you talk
- 6:52Speaker 2: about Black America or like like every black person they
- 6:56Speaker 2: originate from here, right, So why should we let the
- 7:01Speaker 2: Chinese or you know, the Arabs or all the people
- 7:04Speaker 2: come back to Africa and only like we know, Africa
- 7:08Speaker 2: made China what China is today. Africa made America with
- 7:12Speaker 2: Americans today because you look like without the technologists coming
- 7:15Speaker 2: out of the continent, we wouldn't have we don't have
- 7:18Speaker 2: the technology we have today, you know, and all of
- 7:21Speaker 2: that is coming from the continent, right and we've seen
- 7:24Speaker 2: the changes. So why not attract you know, black Americans
- 7:29Speaker 2: to come back and take that advantage rather than go
- 7:32Speaker 2: to the white Man, to the Chinese, to the Arab right.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So it's like, you know, the message, my message I
- 7:38Speaker 2: will put out to my black American friends is to
- 7:42Speaker 2: like look at Africa as the same way you know
- 7:46Speaker 2: the few white Europeans looked at America back in the
- 7:50Speaker 2: eighteen hundreds. Right, So the opportunity is you can't even
- 7:55Speaker 2: put a number. You can't you can't put a number
- 7:57Speaker 2: on it. Right, So everybody knows without Africa from climate change,
- 8:05Speaker 2: everything by twenty fifty, like the wall is not going
- 8:09Speaker 2: to be the same because right now it's even like
- 8:11Speaker 2: the global powers they're actually saying if they don't because
- 8:15Speaker 2: they've taken everything from Africa, and now we get to
- 8:17Speaker 2: a point where like if they don't even help Africa
- 8:21Speaker 2: develop between now and twenty fifty, the wall is going
- 8:24Speaker 2: to be screwed over because Africa have so much poverty
- 8:28Speaker 2: and it's literally holding the global economy down, okay, and
- 8:32Speaker 2: so and it's like you have the poverty, but at
- 8:35Speaker 2: the same time they need everything from Africa, Like Africa
- 8:38Speaker 2: hold when you talk about again agriculture, Africa holds fifty
- 8:41Speaker 2: percent of aurrible land, sixty percent of the water reserves
- 8:46Speaker 2: right because you know a lot of countries are running
- 8:47Speaker 2: out of water, but Africa have you have lakes everywhere,
- 8:51Speaker 2: so everything is back.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Like so if we don't fix the balance, the global
- 8:56Speaker 3: economy is going to collapse.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Like we cannot just keep on when when I say
- 9:00Speaker 2: we we talk talking about like you know, the global
- 9:04Speaker 2: financial system. They cannot just keep on taking things from Africa,
- 9:07Speaker 2: so they have to get back.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And so like the best.
- 9:11Speaker 2: People that you know supposed to capitalize on that opportunity
- 9:14Speaker 2: is black people, like black people being not just in Africa,
- 9:17Speaker 2: but outside of Africa. Till today, we've been up like
- 9:20Speaker 2: we oppressed it. You go to Brazil, you see black
- 9:22Speaker 2: people like you know, at the bottom.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You go to you go to the state, like, but
- 9:28Speaker 3: we can change that. We can be on top, and
- 9:31Speaker 3: we can be on.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Top really fast instead of like spending going like aud
- 9:35Speaker 2: of years for us to be on top. We don't
- 9:37Speaker 2: have to go through the same process and the systems
- 9:40Speaker 2: that the white men, the Asian they go through.
- 9:43Speaker 3: That.
- 9:43Speaker 2: No, we can pivot, you know, we can fast track
- 9:47Speaker 2: to get to work because now you have technologies, you
- 9:49Speaker 2: have everything right, and we get the knowledge right.
- 9:52Speaker 3: You look at some of the biggest institutions today.
- 9:54Speaker 2: They're wrong by black people, right, So like why can't
- 9:57Speaker 2: why not ask black people successful like Africa Americans come
- 10:01Speaker 2: back to the motherland take advantage of.
- 10:03Speaker 3: What already the white man is trying to take.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Advantage because see that's the thing, like they don't want
- 10:09Speaker 2: the successful black man, like you know, African Americans to
- 10:13Speaker 2: see that. Growing up in New York, I remember that
- 10:16Speaker 2: and as a businessman who have made it to that
- 10:18Speaker 2: a little bit, you know, becoming a millionaires as a
- 10:21Speaker 2: black man, you get to meet a lot of people.
- 10:23Speaker 3: People will ask me, like, how do you mate it
- 10:25Speaker 3: to become a millionaire.
- 10:26Speaker 2: As an African? Because it's like almost impossible. They don't
- 10:29Speaker 2: see when you talk about Africa, they see this, you
- 10:33Speaker 2: know I mean, which is like this is the reality
- 10:35Speaker 2: because for them when you talk about Africa, what's come
- 10:37Speaker 2: to their mind is this. They don't think you have
- 10:39Speaker 2: something like that, you know what I mean, They don't
- 10:42Speaker 2: think you have something better in Africa.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Well, like we want to change.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I want to say, hey, look the black rock were
- 10:50Speaker 2: tinto's the world biggest institutions.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Their their wealth is coming from Africa.
- 10:55Speaker 5: But I also speak to the dispet like that's a
- 10:58Speaker 5: visual of right there right there.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Yeah, like that's the change that's happening, yeah and fast.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Like it's like you don't have to go far.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Just right here, that's a that's a million dollar house,
- 11:10Speaker 2: that's you know, that's like below poverty line. So it's
- 11:14Speaker 2: literally and then the crazy thing. You have the president
- 11:17Speaker 2: right there.
- 11:18Speaker 3: So the president. You have the.
- 11:20Speaker 2: President right here who is like the president of the country.
- 11:22Speaker 2: You have a multi millionaire who live you know, just
- 11:26Speaker 2: right there. At the same time, you have somebody you
- 11:28Speaker 2: can't even get a dollar a day, right.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So taking a lot that somebody's opportunity.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, somebody, yeah exactly, say somebody already building.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I mean you you look left and right, there's already
- 11:39Speaker 2: buildings coming like you know, coming.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Here this network right like talking about.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean yeah, right there.
- 11:47Speaker 2: You have the islands over there, like you have about
- 11:50Speaker 2: three four five islands just right there right so, I mean,
- 11:55Speaker 2: and this is not just Guinea like you go to Senegal,
- 11:58Speaker 2: you go to Codivar, you go to Benin like where
- 12:01Speaker 2: everywhere you go in the continent is like that, you know,
- 12:05Speaker 2: so you can see the opportunity right there and The
- 12:07Speaker 2: sad reality is that you see those buildings, they're not
- 12:11Speaker 2: owned by even Guineans. They're owned by Turkis, they're owned
- 12:15Speaker 2: by you know, the white skin. They're not owned by
- 12:18Speaker 2: black people. But like, because they see the risk, the
- 12:22Speaker 2: return on investment is way higher than the risk. Exactly,
- 12:26Speaker 2: they know the reward, So that's why they're willing to come. Like,
- 12:29Speaker 2: you know, we're taking over a place like this in
- 12:32Speaker 2: amount of a couple of months, they turn it into
- 12:34Speaker 2: that and they're making millions of dollars.
