- 0:16Speaker 1: Patriots Training Camp, this is Patriots Unfiltered. Well welcome in everybody.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We are here at Patriots Training Camp, Day three, presented
- 0:26Speaker 1: by Optim. I'm Mike do So, Paul Pirello, Alex Francisco.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We're back for another day of training camp action, Paul,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and seems like the heat has picked up a little
- 0:35Speaker 1: bit here today. Maybe it'll push the players a little
- 0:38Speaker 1: bit as the humidity ramps up. Yeah, I wanted to
- 0:40Speaker 1: get down and see just exactly what a hype man does.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So I was down in the bleachers a little bit
- 0:45Speaker 1: to listen to you and tamaraw sort of get the
- 0:48Speaker 1: crowd whooped up. I think it's a bigger crowd today,
- 0:50Speaker 1: and we've had the last couple of days. Yep. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: don't see as many open pockets of bleachers, and certainly
- 0:57Speaker 1: that hill was filled in quite nicely, so it is
- 1:00Speaker 1: a sticky one. It's a little bit hotter than it
- 1:02Speaker 1: has been, but that's not stopping the people from coming buying.
- 1:06Speaker 1: As Alex said yesterday, checking out the best bargain that
- 1:09Speaker 1: you can get in sports. That's right. Left in the world,
- 1:12Speaker 1: it's free, no, And I mean they seem like they
- 1:14Speaker 1: were bringing the energy too. I don't know. I mean
- 1:16Speaker 1: if it was maybe my me and Tamara's pump up
- 1:18Speaker 1: skills or what people, it was loud and ready to go.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We saw some great plays down there. So last couple
- 1:23Speaker 1: of days of camp and hopefully that continues. Alex, what
- 1:27Speaker 1: have you seen the first couple of days. Give me
- 1:28Speaker 1: a couple of you know, highlights for you as what
- 1:30Speaker 1: you've taken away from the first two days of training camp. Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I think obviously Devontae Parker's chemistry with Mac early on
- 1:37Speaker 1: is really the big takeaway that I think everyone has. Um.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I was impressed with Bloods yesterday on defense and I
- 1:45Speaker 1: really am looking forward to today seeing how the offense
- 1:49Speaker 1: bounces back after yesterday's practice. Yeah, well you bring that up.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So the defense was kind of carrying things there at
- 1:53Speaker 1: the end of practice. I believe there were you know,
- 1:55Speaker 1: ten straight stops that they got, but it all came
- 1:57Speaker 1: down to the last one Paul and the offense made
- 1:59Speaker 1: the play with a little tump off. So it was
- 2:02Speaker 1: the defense yet again, second day in row doing the
- 2:04Speaker 1: doing the push ups at the end of practice. I
- 2:06Speaker 1: loved listening to the defensive backs talk about it. Adrian
- 2:08Speaker 1: Phillips was like, you know, uh, you know, he's talking
- 2:12Speaker 1: about wearing the gloves and he's like, you know, so
- 2:14Speaker 1: if we're making plays with those gloves on, now, what
- 2:16Speaker 1: are you gonna say? And you know, like they're talking
- 2:18Speaker 1: about how you know, we had a chance to do
- 2:20Speaker 1: some talking today, and then they brought up the last
- 2:21Speaker 1: play and he's like, well, yeah, you know, I guess
- 2:25Speaker 1: you know, you could play great for fifty nine minutes.
- 2:27Speaker 1: At fifty nine seconds, but if the last second you
- 2:30Speaker 1: get up a you know, a game winning touchdown, it's offered.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But you could just tell like they were a lot
- 2:35Speaker 1: happier about their performance yesterday. And in fairness, I believe
- 2:39Speaker 1: that was a pretty pretty evident pick to get Hunter
- 2:44Speaker 1: Henry All alone in the in the corner. But a
- 2:47Speaker 1: little bit, I don't want to be like sounding any
- 2:50Speaker 1: alarms or anything, but a little concerning that you go
- 2:53Speaker 1: ten straight plays without being able to get into the
- 2:55Speaker 1: end zone from from inside that most of those plays
- 2:57Speaker 1: were around the five or the four yard line, so
- 3:00Speaker 1: you couldn't find a way to get anybody really open,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and that to me was the number one thing I
- 3:04Speaker 1: didn't think it was. It was the best execution that
- 3:07Speaker 1: we've seen. Let's put it that way. Yeah, for sure.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And you have I just love the competition between the
- 3:11Speaker 1: two sides, and you can see that ramping up, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: the energy going back and forth. Devin mccordy given a
- 3:18Speaker 1: little dance in the face kind of of what DeVante
- 3:20Speaker 1: Parker was doing to the crowd on the first day.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know, we're going to get to a point in
- 3:24Speaker 1: a couple of weeks where they'll finally get to hit
- 3:25Speaker 1: someone else other than themselves. They get Carolina coming in here,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and with the Pats coming on Monday, it feels like
- 3:30Speaker 1: we're kind of setting the competitive stage and maybe here
- 3:33Speaker 1: today you'll see a continuation of that, you know, kind
- 3:35Speaker 1: of competitiveness. And like you said, even though the offense
- 3:38Speaker 1: made that last play, I think they've got something to
- 3:41Speaker 1: prove a little bit here today in terms of bouncing back.
- 3:43Speaker 1: If you're just looking at the narrative overall at trading
- 3:45Speaker 1: camp right doing the push ups today, guys, well, I'm
- 3:49Speaker 1: gonna predict the defense will do it because because I
- 3:51Speaker 1: think that these kinds of drills are so stacked against
- 3:54Speaker 1: the defense. It's you know, you have one play and
- 3:57Speaker 1: it's it's really hard to I think, to come up
- 3:58Speaker 1: with a stop, which was what I thought made that
- 4:01Speaker 1: that last segment really eye opening to me with you know,
- 4:04Speaker 1: the way the defense came up with a bunch of stops. Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 1: the continued red zone work. I mean, we've talked about
- 4:09Speaker 1: DeVante Parker, but you know, maybe some of the other
- 4:11Speaker 1: pieces were a little bit quiet. Yesterday. I know, a
- 4:13Speaker 1: Hunter Henry had you know, a nice touchdown grab. I
- 4:15Speaker 1: think he was the one that had the last touchdown,
- 4:17Speaker 1: even though YE felt like that was a you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: not quite a tight window throw, kind of a little
- 4:21Speaker 1: dump off. There was no one there was no one
- 4:23Speaker 1: on you know. So I think those guys, you know,
- 4:26Speaker 1: maybe need to step up a little bit today. I mean,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know, we're talking about training camp here. There's gonna
- 4:30Speaker 1: be ins and outs every day. I don't want to
- 4:32Speaker 1: blow up at all. You know, their backs are against
- 4:34Speaker 1: the wall. But let's have another perspective too, right, And
- 4:36Speaker 1: we always talk about this every year in Belichick gets
- 4:39Speaker 1: asked about it a lot. You know, when one side
- 4:41Speaker 1: of the ball is having more success than the other
- 4:44Speaker 1: during training camp. It's always is that something that you
- 4:47Speaker 1: look at real as a real positive for the side
- 4:49Speaker 1: that's that's winning, or do you look at it as
- 4:51Speaker 1: a negative for the side that's not coming up with
- 4:53Speaker 1: any place? Um. I thought that the secondary responded to
- 4:57Speaker 1: the first day where I thought, more often than not,
- 5:00Speaker 1: Jones and the receivers we're connecting. Yesterday, I thought more
- 5:03Speaker 1: often than not it was the other way around. So,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I mean, I think if you're looking at it from
- 5:07Speaker 1: a balance perspective, that's probably what you want as a coach.
- 5:10Speaker 1: There's a little success on both sides. Yeah, it's just
- 5:12Speaker 1: everything so tough in the red zone. And I mean
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think that's by design. We talked last year about
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, Bill told us that's what they always do.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I don't know what stood out to me last year
- 5:19Speaker 1: that it seemed like everything was in the red zone
- 5:21Speaker 1: and that's what we've seen early on here. I mean,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it's the tightest windows. It's where you've got to score points.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It's the hardest part of the field to convert and
- 5:29Speaker 1: to produce in. And uh, you know, I think it
- 5:31Speaker 1: was a good showing for the defense yesterday. I mean,
- 5:33Speaker 1: you've got a lot of new pieces kind of working
- 5:35Speaker 1: in and as Alex mentioned, Josh Bledsoe, guy who you
- 5:39Speaker 1: know wasn't really involved last year. I mean he was
- 5:41Speaker 1: on some something. I don't know if he was on IRM,
- 5:43Speaker 1: started off on NFI. He came back and practiced a
- 5:46Speaker 1: little bit, uh, and then I think he ended up
- 5:48Speaker 1: being out. Is that So we got David Andrews. So
- 5:51Speaker 1: that's uniform today. You know, as you guys see some
- 5:55Speaker 1: of the offensive lineman walking up from the Rimp. So
- 5:57Speaker 1: there's there's a little bit of news. You get your
- 5:59Speaker 1: starting center back in full uniform off of PUP. Yep,
- 6:02Speaker 1: just what two days miss, So not a big deal
- 6:05Speaker 1: at all. Ray Kua McMillan also came off almost immediately.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So that'll leave the Patriots with, you know, just a
- 6:10Speaker 1: handful of guys James White, Jabrill Peppers among those names
- 6:14Speaker 1: of guys that have not come off the PUP list.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But great sign to see Andrews out there. I mean,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I think they've got a good backup in James Farence,
- 6:21Speaker 1: who's able to give them, you know, quality reps. But
- 6:24Speaker 1: David Andrews, I mean he's been the mainstay and really
- 6:26Speaker 1: when you look at the offensive line, he's the only
- 6:29Speaker 1: piece returning that's in his actual spot that was last year,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you know, at center. Yeah, and that's the you know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: the one, the one constant you sort of feel good about,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you know as well. So that yeah, it's a good point,
- 6:42Speaker 1: you know, need to get the continuity at center and
- 6:44Speaker 1: let everybody else sort of play off of that with
- 6:47Speaker 1: all the uh, the moving around that's been going on.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So day three, we got guys continuing to trickle in,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and of course we'd love to hear from all you guys.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Send us an email, web radio Patriots dot com, give
- 6:57Speaker 1: us a call eight five five Pats five hundred, be
- 7:00Speaker 1: happy to talk to you guys. Let us know you know,
- 7:02Speaker 1: what you're looking for, what your questions are. I know,
- 7:04Speaker 1: is you know, a former fan across the country waiting
- 7:07Speaker 1: with bated breath on all the reports and tweets and
- 7:09Speaker 1: everything telling you what's going on at Patriots Camp. So
- 7:12Speaker 1: we hope to provide you, guys with, you know, all
- 7:14Speaker 1: the information that you're kind of seeking here as we uh,
- 7:17Speaker 1: hear a roar of the crowd, and there he is
- 7:19Speaker 1: Mac Jones trotting on. Yeah, first couple of days he's
- 7:22Speaker 1: been one of the first guys out today. I'm sure
- 7:25Speaker 1: we considered one of the first guys out again, but
- 7:27Speaker 1: I though he wasn't first either one of the first
- 7:29Speaker 1: two days, he was considered first by many, many reports.
- 7:32Speaker 1: But no, no knee brace today. A little bit of
- 7:33Speaker 1: a little bit of an interesting observation that one if
- 7:36Speaker 1: he puts it on out here, we'll see yeah or uh,
- 7:38Speaker 1: or perhaps maybe they're they're ramping things back a little bit. Uh.
- 7:42Speaker 1: And of course a week from today, I want to
- 7:43Speaker 1: make everybody aware, if you're a Foxboro resident or season
- 7:46Speaker 1: ticket holder, they will have their in stadium practice, so
- 7:49Speaker 1: you're welcome to get tickets to that. Come on down
- 7:51Speaker 1: Jake Bailey too, and there we go. Jake Bailey off
- 7:55Speaker 1: of the NFI was not a football Remember it was
- 7:59Speaker 1: not football illness. He's not like me. He does not
- 8:01Speaker 1: have football fever. And he's back out here, and you know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: he's a guy. I love when he's a guy. He's
- 8:07Speaker 1: a guy. Paul uh. That was booming some pumps in
- 8:10Speaker 1: the spring. I think people are, you know, optimistic. I
- 8:12Speaker 1: after that great twenty twenty he had, it felt like,
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know, he's kind of battling injuries a little bit
- 8:17Speaker 1: last year. Uh, you know, certainly I don't think the
- 8:20Speaker 1: punt team helped him out and in all situations as
- 8:22Speaker 1: well with some blocks. But uh, you know, based on
- 8:25Speaker 1: what I saw from from Jake Bailey in the springs,
- 8:27Speaker 1: seems like he's he's healthy, and we'll see today maybe
- 8:30Speaker 1: if he if he's ready to start booming some more
- 8:32Speaker 1: punts here. I'd have to admit upfront, you know, or
- 8:35Speaker 1: I want to hide anything. I never really wants to,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you know, was concerned about the punting situation for any
- 8:41Speaker 1: team that I've ever watched. Just an optimistic paul in
- 8:43Speaker 1: any season, I have to say that. Well, and they
- 8:46Speaker 1: have and they do have uh you know Jake Julian
- 8:49Speaker 1: as well, so you know, they do some competition there.
- 8:51Speaker 1: We'll see, we'll see if they do any punting. We
- 8:53Speaker 1: have seen some special teams periods as well as guys
- 8:56Speaker 1: continue to trickle onto the field. There's number six he won,
- 9:00Speaker 1: Drew descharlais this experience up in the Canadian Football League
- 9:04Speaker 1: is the uh, you know, Patriots continue to tap all
- 9:07Speaker 1: the different avenues. You've got, you know, Jeremiah Farms that
- 9:11Speaker 1: they signed late in the year this spring was you know,
- 9:14Speaker 1: did some time as well in the what is it
- 9:16Speaker 1: the US So they're you know, you've got some guys
- 9:19Speaker 1: from all over the place here on the team, is there,
- 9:21Speaker 1: you know, trying to turn over every stone and see
- 9:24Speaker 1: if they can find any gems. And uh now sixty
- 9:28Speaker 1: four Now that's des DeMarcus Mitchell, another undrafted rookie outside
- 9:33Speaker 1: linebacker who and you know, we get we get questions
- 9:36Speaker 1: about the undrafted guys a lot, you know, because you know,
- 9:38Speaker 1: the Patriots obviously have you know, a long history of
- 9:42Speaker 1: of undrafted free agents making the team, as most teams do. Um.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But and they're always asking us, you know which guy
- 9:49Speaker 1: you think I haven't really seen any of these guys,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you know, so far getting an extraordinary amount of reps
- 9:55Speaker 1: or anything with with any front line players. Brandon Schooler
- 9:58Speaker 1: is a guy that I often talk about in that
- 10:00Speaker 1: regard because I think I've seen him in the spring
- 10:03Speaker 1: with Matthew Slater and Justin Bethel. Um. He's a safety
- 10:07Speaker 1: by trade, I believe out of Texas. UM. So he's
- 10:10Speaker 1: a guy to keep an eye on and is the
- 10:11Speaker 1: guy that we've been talking about so far. In the
- 10:13Speaker 1: first couple of days of camp Joshua Bledsoe, I think
- 10:16Speaker 1: that he is. You know, it's shorts in helmets, So
- 10:18Speaker 1: I don't want to get carried away, but I agree
- 10:20Speaker 1: with what Alex said earlier about him making some place. Now, Paul,
- 10:24Speaker 1: you you wrote a nice lump feature on josh I believe,
- 10:27Speaker 1: of course, you know you're a big Drew Bledsoe fans,
- 10:29Speaker 1: so the name was an easy, easy transition there for you.
- 10:33Speaker 1: But uh, what did what did the coaches tell you
- 10:36Speaker 1: about him last year? I mean, what kind of player
- 10:38Speaker 1: is he in terms of you know, we know he's
- 10:40Speaker 1: a safety, but but what were the things in college
- 10:42Speaker 1: that he kind of hung his hat on. They liked him,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you know, as sort of a versatile safety that could
- 10:47Speaker 1: perform as well in coverage as he did against the run. Uh,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and you know he had some success at Missouri doing that.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean I'm a little you know, without
- 10:57Speaker 1: having seen him at all last year, you sort of
- 11:00Speaker 1: want to get a chance to, you know, make your
- 11:02Speaker 1: own impressions. And I think early on what we've seen
- 11:04Speaker 1: has been has been pretty positive. Yeah, we got that.
- 11:07Speaker 1: We also got Matt Matt Hudon picking up where he
- 11:09Speaker 1: left off. Yesterday, he's down in the nearest end zone,
- 11:12Speaker 1: big red sweatshirt on. He's he's a sweatshirt guy always,
- 11:14Speaker 1: but just throwing some throwing some passes to the fans.
- 11:17Speaker 1: They're throwing them back sometimes. That's part of his pregame
- 11:19Speaker 1: routine as well. Seems like he's keeping that up. But
- 11:22Speaker 1: you know, going back to Bledsoe, I mean just a
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know, a real stack position group. But I think
- 11:26Speaker 1: he's doing the thing that that it's hard to really
- 11:29Speaker 1: stand out at this part of the year, but he's
- 11:31Speaker 1: doing the thing that Malcolm Butler did, I think when
- 11:33Speaker 1: he first got here, making plays on the ball, and
- 11:36Speaker 1: that it's just he can't ignore it when he's around
- 11:38Speaker 1: these plays. And and I think yesterday saw some of
- 11:41Speaker 1: the you know, it's hard for us to clock everything,
- 11:44Speaker 1: but but somebody had recorded him with you know, three
- 11:46Speaker 1: pass breakups, which you know, it's uh, it's hard to
- 11:49Speaker 1: say that the oh man, we really need another safety,
- 11:51Speaker 1: but you're not going to turn away a good player
- 11:53Speaker 1: who seems to have a knack for being in the
- 11:55Speaker 1: right place. I'll tell you what I saw. I saw
- 11:57Speaker 1: a guy on tight ends and he was covering Jonah Smith.
- 12:01Speaker 1: He covered Devin ASIASI a couple of times. Um so,
- 12:05Speaker 1: I think they've had some issues with tight ends quite frankly,
- 12:08Speaker 1: as you know, as deep as their safety position is.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So if he's a guy that can be sort of
- 12:13Speaker 1: a matchup piece in that regard, you know, I think
- 12:16Speaker 1: you have to take a look at it and see
- 12:17Speaker 1: what you get. I mean, certainly, if Pepper's uh you know,
- 12:20Speaker 1: isn't able to come off pup, maybe even before the
- 12:23Speaker 1: season he misses the first six weeks, it you know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: it does give you an added layer at depth. But
- 12:27Speaker 1: I mean we've seen them last year play plenty of
- 12:29Speaker 1: three safeties. I don't know if we'll get the four safeties,
- 12:32Speaker 1: but but having that extra body will certainly be good.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And here comes Damien Harris, always one to have the
- 12:38Speaker 1: energy as well, pumping up the crowd. Fred Fred Kersch
- 12:40Speaker 1: not quite not quite sure if you plant practice yesterday.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But we can't stand back out here, according to Fred,
- 12:45Speaker 1: but we can't confirm that that Damien Harris is is
- 12:48Speaker 1: back out out here today. So we think, Alex, what
- 12:52Speaker 1: are you what are you looking for today? You want
- 12:55Speaker 1: to see, uh see some offensive back, but bounce back.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I would like them to maybe not strictly do like
- 13:03Speaker 1: red zone stuff. I want to see if they lengthen
- 13:05Speaker 1: the field a little bit today, ye see some of
- 13:07Speaker 1: the speed. You're going to be disappointed because I might
- 13:11Speaker 1: get experience, I'm sure. Well, I mean that's the way
- 13:13Speaker 1: they've done it traditionally. Now there's a little bit of
- 13:17Speaker 1: a new offense going in this year, so maybe there'll
- 13:19Speaker 1: be a you know, some adjustments made, but generally, yes,
- 13:22Speaker 1: they start off with a tremendous amount of red zone work.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And there's a mister energy himself, Kendrick Bourne, who you know,
- 13:29Speaker 1: has has had some catches for sure the last you know,
- 13:31Speaker 1: a couple of days of camp. But I think, like
- 13:34Speaker 1: you know, like Alex con said, I think his damage
- 13:36Speaker 1: is kind of in the middle of the field. I
- 13:37Speaker 1: think that's where he's most effective. Probably not surprising that,
- 13:40Speaker 1: you know, you've seen the most out of Parker and
- 13:42Speaker 1: Henry and a little bit of John hu Smith in
- 13:44Speaker 1: the red zone. I mean that's where they're supposed to
- 13:45Speaker 1: be standing. How about a little bit of an observation
- 13:47Speaker 1: in terms of that, um you know, I have seen
- 13:50Speaker 1: Born you know between the hashes a lot. Maybe maybe
- 13:53Speaker 1: uh sort of putting Jacoby Myers on the back burner
- 13:56Speaker 1: a little bit. He's been quiet, yeah, quiet a couple
- 13:59Speaker 1: of days, and there comes Jacobe running out as well,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and then you know, it's is I'm not sure if
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm remembering this correctly, but I seem to think that
- 14:05Speaker 1: that Jacobe had a little bit of a slow start
- 14:07Speaker 1: last year as well. Um, you know, not just just
- 14:10Speaker 1: not popping up. I mean, of course, Jacoby's thing is
- 14:13Speaker 1: reliability on third down and knowing where to be in
- 14:15Speaker 1: those key moments, and uh, you know, maybe that doesn't
- 14:18Speaker 1: always show up in the red zone. I mean, obviously
- 14:20Speaker 1: he's got uh you know what did he get a
- 14:22Speaker 1: second touchdown last I think you got two, right, he
- 14:24Speaker 1: finally he broke the ice with the first one, and
- 14:25Speaker 1: then you know, got a second one. But uh, no question,
- 14:29Speaker 1: Parker has been been kind of the the go to
- 14:30Speaker 1: piece in terms of the contested catches down there as
- 14:33Speaker 1: uh as the guys continue to roll out, we're getting
- 14:36Speaker 1: close here to uh to some stretching as things will
- 14:39Speaker 1: start to ramp up a little bit and crowd continuing
- 14:43Speaker 1: to file in. So it's, uh, it's a good day.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I think tomorrow is going to be the busy day
- 14:47Speaker 1: tomorrow Saturday. Well, this is kids are to me, this
- 14:50Speaker 1: is significantly more people than have been here the first
- 14:52Speaker 1: two Yeah. Yeah, we're lining the line in the edge
- 14:55Speaker 1: here and God bless people because I know it can
- 14:58Speaker 1: be hot. Has hecked on there and those I was
- 15:01Speaker 1: walking around town and you could just feel the heat
- 15:03Speaker 1: radiating half the bleachers if I was down there campaigning
- 15:07Speaker 1: from mayor you know, a while ago, glad and pressing
- 15:11Speaker 1: a little in a flash, you know, kissing babies and whatnot.
- 15:14Speaker 1: But there are a lot of kids here, and uh,
- 15:17Speaker 1: it is it's it's tough because it is it is
- 15:19Speaker 1: pretty hot. It's pretty humid out there, and when you
- 15:22Speaker 1: get in those metal bleachers that can be warm. But
- 15:25Speaker 1: you know, like we keep talking about, where else are
- 15:27Speaker 1: you going to get this close to the players and
- 15:30Speaker 1: have it be so easily accessible. I think it's a
- 15:32Speaker 1: it's a it's a great take. Yeah, And I know
- 15:35Speaker 1: it's one that I took advantage of when my kids
- 15:37Speaker 1: were younger. They would they would come frequently during the
- 15:40Speaker 1: course of training camp. And I see a lot of
- 15:42Speaker 1: a lot of families doing that today as well. Coloring
- 15:47Speaker 1: make a sign, Well, Paul, you know, after that shark
- 15:51Speaker 1: and it's incident last year. I mean, I think Mayor
- 15:53Speaker 1: Vaughan might be a little susceptible to your campaign for mayor,
- 15:55Speaker 1: so I think he might have an opening there. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't think he handled it all that well, I'll tell you,
- 15:58Speaker 1: and and kept reaching open as you know, means friendship.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to throw as many jaws references today.
- 16:04Speaker 1: So Alex, just like, what what are they talking? I
- 16:05Speaker 1: don't know. But there's Hardy, you got it. He's down
- 16:09Speaker 1: there somewhere if he knows. But so guys working through
- 16:15Speaker 1: you can see the big domes on the A lineman.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Doesn't seem like the guys are too psyched about them.
- 16:21Speaker 1: But no, it doesn't seem like they really affect all
- 16:22Speaker 1: that much, like a necessary evil. Yeah, but hopefully it
- 16:26Speaker 1: uh hopefully it results in protection. I just I just
- 16:30Speaker 1: struggle to remember guys really coming out of practices with concussions.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I mean, is that a big like it's happened. Yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: it's happened occasionally, but I'm not really sure what those Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure they've done studies. I don't want
- 16:44Speaker 1: to speak out of school, and I'm sure they've done
- 16:45Speaker 1: studies and there's you know, some kind of practicality to it.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm not sure how much that that would help, but yeah, yeah,
- 16:54Speaker 1: well you remember the ones back in the day, like
- 16:56Speaker 1: who is the special teamer from Buffalo that always had
- 16:59Speaker 1: like a like kind of a rubber mirk Kel's covering. Yeah,
- 17:01Speaker 1: of his moment that made him look even bigger. Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 1: look like to break gazoo. Do you do that voluntarily? Yeah?
- 17:08Speaker 1: I think so, Yeah, some guys did, But I mean
- 17:10Speaker 1: it adds uh, you know, more weight too. So I
- 17:13Speaker 1: I don't know whatever they can do with the technology
- 17:15Speaker 1: to improve and you know it's a big thing. But
- 17:17Speaker 1: if there's any kinds of you know, information out there
- 17:20Speaker 1: that says that helps, I think it's something everybody should
- 17:24Speaker 1: be all in, all in favor of. Yeah, sure, there's
- 17:26Speaker 1: big Trent Brown coming out here. Let's see him yet, yep,
- 17:31Speaker 1: trucking out, trucking. I thought he was just finishing his
- 17:34Speaker 1: lap from yesterday. He's like a walk with a little
- 17:39Speaker 1: hot He's a big man. You know. There was Uh,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Brian Hoyer didn't do a whole lot yesterday. I thought
- 17:46Speaker 1: Zappy got a lot more reps than he did on
- 17:48Speaker 1: on day one, and I don't see Brian Hoyer out there.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Am I missing? Yeah, now I'm not. You're just not
- 17:53Speaker 1: in his shirt yet and I haven't seen him. Uh
- 17:55Speaker 1: that's a negative. Looks like the quarterbacks are headed over
- 17:57Speaker 1: to the far field as they're getting ready to go.
- 18:00Speaker 1: So yeah, that's a notable one there for boy dog.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Hopefully he's I got Yeah, So the quarterbacks getting loosened
- 18:14Speaker 1: up over there, there's Mac. Now this is Paul's favorite
- 18:15Speaker 1: drill from yesterday. Um and as you guys are, as
- 18:18Speaker 1: you guys are seeing, keep making fun of me. Oh no,
- 18:20Speaker 1: I thought it was a great point out fall, Yes,
- 18:25Speaker 1: great point up trying to get it, you know, right
- 18:28Speaker 1: to that back corner, and we saw translate early in
- 18:32Speaker 1: not late on seven on seven on the far end,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I thought he threw a perfect one to I think
- 18:37Speaker 1: it was Jonathan Smith um the same kind of deal
- 18:40Speaker 1: and then he had a same kind of a route
- 18:42Speaker 1: to Nelson Aghalore in the late full team work and
- 18:46Speaker 1: it was way you know, the timing was off, the
- 18:48Speaker 1: throw was long. I know, you know some of our
- 18:51Speaker 1: colleagues were talking about it. Well, it wasn't all on Mac,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you know, all the ten you know, there was a
- 18:56Speaker 1: throw that I thought Aglo could have gotten in bounce.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Agolo didn't even get one foot him. Yeah, no shot
- 19:00Speaker 1: of getting in bounced out. Then there was another one
- 19:03Speaker 1: shortly thereafterward. Borne was coming across the back line of
- 19:05Speaker 1: the end zone and got a hand on it and
- 19:07Speaker 1: they called it a drop. Yeah, that was not a drop. Um.
- 19:10Speaker 1: You know, give the defense some credit. Yep, I'm given
- 19:13Speaker 1: the defense some credit for for that late practice work. Yesterday.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I thought that they had tight coverage. I thought they
- 19:19Speaker 1: made it tough on on Mac and the receivers, and
- 19:21Speaker 1: I thought they won the majority of those rests. Yeah, yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you're you're right. I don't think it was a lack
- 19:25Speaker 1: of necessarily a lack of execution on Mac Jones's part.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I thought it was a good job in coverage. Uh,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you know with the Patriot secondary. Yeah, I said yesterday,
- 19:36Speaker 1: I'd like to see uh, you know, I want to
- 19:38Speaker 1: see a little bit of Mac having you know, not
- 19:39Speaker 1: not not that I want him to see him struggle,
- 19:41Speaker 1: but I want to see resilience, you know, I want
- 19:43Speaker 1: to see some bounce back. And and yesterday wasn't the
- 19:46Speaker 1: greatest it was, you know, it wasn't it wasn't terrible, um,
- 19:49Speaker 1: but I think it needs to be better today and
- 19:51Speaker 1: that's what I'm interested to see how how he backs up.
- 19:54Speaker 1: But I definitely got my radar up without the knee
- 19:56Speaker 1: brace on. Just wondering if they're going to dial back
- 19:59Speaker 1: the competitive portions albeit you know, limited competitive portions that
- 20:04Speaker 1: they've even been doing. Yeah, you know, and I know
- 20:07Speaker 1: that like I heard, I heard a lot of people
- 20:09Speaker 1: talking like you know, those those kinds of buzzwords always
- 20:12Speaker 1: stick with me, and I know it's a me problem.
- 20:14Speaker 1: It's not really a them problem. It's a mean problem,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know. You know in the competitive portions, Dad, I
- 20:19Speaker 1: gotta be honest with you, there hasn't been a competitive
- 20:21Speaker 1: portion of anything that we've seen. Yeah, you know that
- 20:25Speaker 1: that they're not wearing pat although they do look like
- 20:27Speaker 1: they have the shells on today, right, Yeah, I'm not
- 20:29Speaker 1: I'm not seeing that, right, they have shells on those
- 20:32Speaker 1: uniforms like a little uh you know the now it's
- 20:36Speaker 1: mac Dan song, there's I'm yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely shells.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So but they haven't they you know it. You know,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm not saying there's no effort, like don't confuse a
- 20:47Speaker 1: lot like a lack of competition for a lack of effort. Yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I just think truly competitive is I gotta beat press coverage,
- 20:56Speaker 1: you gotta beat me, you know, my my hands on techniques,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and then we're gonn to fight for the ball in
- 21:01Speaker 1: the air, like there's going to be content, Like that's competitive.
- 21:04Speaker 1: This is just sort of execution base. You know, we're
- 21:06Speaker 1: looking to get get our work in and you know
- 21:09Speaker 1: a little more than that. Yeah, that's why I said
- 21:11Speaker 1: the thing about guys that are around the ball, guys
- 21:14Speaker 1: that are making catches and you know, good throws in
- 21:16Speaker 1: tight windows. Those are the things I think you can
- 21:19Speaker 1: give a little a little check mark faced. Yeah, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: that's why I thought taggling the first day. I thought, yeah, yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 1: those those kinds of throws. That's execution. That's what you're
- 21:29Speaker 1: looking for. There's Bill you know, for those interested, that's
- 21:32Speaker 1: the d Elvis hot jacket made famous Super Bowl fifty one,
- 21:35Speaker 1: no Elvis logo ripped off of the left breast. He
- 21:39Speaker 1: just won't. I know, Well, people want to know these things,
- 21:41Speaker 1: and there's only one person person. There's only one person
- 21:45Speaker 1: crazy enough to keep track of Bill Belichick's wardrobe, and
- 21:48Speaker 1: that's me. So might as well you have some company
- 21:50Speaker 1: on Reddit. Yeah, well, I don't know if anybody on
- 21:54Speaker 1: Reddit has a whole database about there's a database. Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 1: that's one of my things, Alex. That's what I think,
- 22:00Speaker 1: like breadsheet or something of like every hoodie he's ever worn.
- 22:03Speaker 1: So to break it down by like, it's just jams
- 22:07Speaker 1: Wins think he's kidding. I don't think he's kidding. Okay,
- 22:10Speaker 1: I know, I think I knows that it needs to be.
- 22:14Speaker 1: She's like, now that's very on brand for Duce. That
- 22:16Speaker 1: sounds like something crazy obsessive that that he would do.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Uh yeah, a lot of fun, a lot of fun.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Once I started doing it, I felt like I had
- 22:23Speaker 1: to had to keep it up. But uh, this is
- 22:25Speaker 1: this one's funny though, just because he ripped the elvis off.
- 22:27Speaker 1: So you know, anytime there's any kind of controversy or anything,
- 22:30Speaker 1: people suddenly spot it like it's a new thing and
- 22:32Speaker 1: they're like, oh, is this a silent protest or something,
- 22:35Speaker 1: you know, all that kind of ridiculousness, But hey, he
- 22:37Speaker 1: wore in Super Bowl fifty one, so I guess it's
- 22:39Speaker 1: it's all good silent. So we're getting warmed up here
- 22:44Speaker 1: with some kind of walk through his stuff, right, Yeah,
- 22:48Speaker 1: you know, the same kind of stuff that we've seen
- 22:50Speaker 1: the last couple of days, getting getting going here with
- 22:53Speaker 1: the running game, and you know, all eyes are on
- 22:56Speaker 1: all this stuff, trying to discern what new tweaks the
- 23:00Speaker 1: Patriots offense might have. But I mean, I do think
- 23:02Speaker 1: you know, I guess we all kind of laughed when
- 23:04Speaker 1: Jacob Johnson said, oh, they told me that that the
- 23:06Speaker 1: fullback position was was no longer going to be part
- 23:08Speaker 1: of their offense. But I do think it as we
- 23:10Speaker 1: get into here, I do think it is significant not
- 23:12Speaker 1: to kind of have that piece of the puzzle. And
- 23:15Speaker 1: you know, at any point in training camp, are we
- 23:16Speaker 1: going to get a look at I don't know, John
- 23:19Speaker 1: hu Smith playing some fullback, Dalton Keene, some of those
- 23:21Speaker 1: guys in the tight end group that that have done
- 23:23Speaker 1: it a little bit, just to give them that element
- 23:26Speaker 1: to maybe throw it at defenses here and there. Yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's a possibility. And I think
- 23:31Speaker 1: that they'll have, you know, certain plays where you might
- 23:34Speaker 1: want to have someone lined up out of the backfield.
- 23:38Speaker 1: But I think that what they're you know, what they're
- 23:40Speaker 1: talking about, and I think probably what they conveyed to
- 23:43Speaker 1: Jacob Johnson. Is that traditional sort of you know, lead blocking,
- 23:49Speaker 1: you know, getting into the a gap and taking on
- 23:51Speaker 1: the lineback or fullback is not really going to be
- 23:54Speaker 1: a big part of what they do now. I think
- 23:55Speaker 1: that they'll have two back sets, you know where I
- 23:59Speaker 1: got like, Yeah, I think Jonna Smith is a guy
- 24:01Speaker 1: that you bring up. We've seen them hand the ball
- 24:03Speaker 1: to him a little bit. Yeah, that was something that
- 24:04Speaker 1: he did in Tennessee as well. So yeah, I mean
- 24:07Speaker 1: I could see them using him out of the backfield
- 24:09Speaker 1: as as an extra piece, as a sort of hybrid
- 24:11Speaker 1: kind of kind of guy. He knows what something I'm
- 24:13Speaker 1: wondering about. A little bit off the beaten path here,
- 24:15Speaker 1: though hopefully I will be in a couple of weeks
- 24:17Speaker 1: in Vegas watching some joint practices the Raiders. They'll they'll
- 24:20Speaker 1: of course face the Raiders later in the season, but
- 24:22Speaker 1: God help whatever. PAULI, what's the over under on trick
- 24:27Speaker 1: plays with Josh McDaniels against the Patriots, Like I feel
- 24:30Speaker 1: like that's almost like or I mean it even going
- 24:33Speaker 1: into the game, like Josh is always you know, it's
- 24:36Speaker 1: kind of part of the offense the last few years
- 24:37Speaker 1: of you know, how having the receivers throw touchdowns, you know,
- 24:41Speaker 1: all those kind of things. I just it'll be interesting
- 24:43Speaker 1: to see how much of that stuff Josh tries to
- 24:46Speaker 1: do to the Patriots. I mean, I'm not really expecting
- 24:47Speaker 1: it in preseason just you know, I'm not going to
- 24:49Speaker 1: give anyway, but I think once you get to the game, right,
- 24:51Speaker 1: how much do they try to catch Bill, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and how much does Bill try to try to do
- 24:55Speaker 1: it back to Josh. I mean, it's been, you know,
- 24:56Speaker 1: just such a part of the offense. I don't know,
- 24:59Speaker 1: ye with them point straight up, you know, I don't know.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I'm not sure it would make a whole lot of sense. Um.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So we talked about Brandon Schueler as an undrafted rookie
- 25:08Speaker 1: that has been doing some special team stuff, and he's
- 25:11Speaker 1: doing that now as he as he has been. I
- 25:13Speaker 1: see is that DeMarcus Mitchell, Yes, DeMarcus Mitchell, defensive lineman.
- 25:18Speaker 1: He's lined up like next to Joe Cardona, and there's
- 25:21Speaker 1: sort of where he looks like he would be like
- 25:23Speaker 1: the outside guy on the punt protection, you know, kind
- 25:28Speaker 1: of the way he's the way he's aligned. So I
- 25:31Speaker 1: wonder if that's something that uh, you know, maybe they're
- 25:33Speaker 1: trying to groom him for DeMarcus Mitchell might be one
- 25:35Speaker 1: of those undrafted guys that you give a little extra
- 25:38Speaker 1: attention to. Well, I mean I think he's you know,
- 25:40Speaker 1: it's not really a stacked kind of position, just at
- 25:43Speaker 1: least on as far as the defense goes. But I mean,
- 25:46Speaker 1: these guys are all it's all it's all about special teams, right,
- 25:49Speaker 1: like these undrafted guys. Like if you're not going to
- 25:51Speaker 1: play special teams, as hard to see any of these
- 25:52Speaker 1: guys as undrafted rookies making a team. So find find
- 25:56Speaker 1: any kind of role that that you possibly can. I know,
- 25:58Speaker 1: you know, Bill Murray has been him around on the
- 26:00Speaker 1: practice squad the last couple of years. Now he's uh,
- 26:03Speaker 1: you know, making a switch to offensive line. So he's
- 26:05Speaker 1: wearing sixty two and white, so he's trying to make
- 26:08Speaker 1: a switch to guard, I would think, And let's see
- 26:11Speaker 1: if he can find his way in there. We got
- 26:13Speaker 1: we got the t backs playing some some tennis ball.
- 26:15Speaker 1: And although it looks like you might have been no, yeah,
- 26:18Speaker 1: I think he was a guard on that plane never more. Yeah,
- 26:20Speaker 1: now we're getting a shot of you know, some of
- 26:21Speaker 1: the linebackers here working on you know, taking off blocks,
- 26:24Speaker 1: defeating him, making tackles. Pretty common that that you will
- 26:27Speaker 1: usually see that one going on, you know during the
- 26:29Speaker 1: season when you get some of the warm ups. So yeah,
- 26:32Speaker 1: we'll see how things are coming together. Here is the
- 26:35Speaker 1: two different offenses are working on opposite ends of the
- 26:38Speaker 1: far far field. Get a good close up there some
- 26:41Speaker 1: of those helmets, but that doesn't really seem make you
- 26:43Speaker 1: even realize it's on once you got your helmet on anyway.
- 26:46Speaker 1: But well, Alex has it traps in the heat. I
- 26:49Speaker 1: don't know what's it made out of. It's got to
- 26:51Speaker 1: be like looks like it's like canvas kind of material. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:56Speaker 1: something absorbing, like a spongey material. Yeah, it's a guy
- 27:00Speaker 1: interesting and watching down here with the uh with the
- 27:02Speaker 1: defensive actually the cornerbacks, I should say, uh, you know,
- 27:05Speaker 1: kind of getting back and then catching a tennis ball
- 27:07Speaker 1: with one hand. So yeah, it's always something they've always got.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Little it's a little tweaks and with you you know,
- 27:13Speaker 1: a little little coaching things that that they do to
- 27:16Speaker 1: try to get guys to you know, make plays and
- 27:18Speaker 1: and get their hands on the ball. Joe Warren Williams
- 27:22Speaker 1: working through and here we're looking at some of the
- 27:26Speaker 1: I call this, I guess the linebackers, defensive end, defensive
- 27:30Speaker 1: line group working on the the bags, the old traditional bags.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I mean a lot of things have changed about football,
- 27:35Speaker 1: Paul over the years, but but the sled, the sled
- 27:37Speaker 1: remains the sled is it doesn't seem like you've still
- 27:39Speaker 1: got to hit its point where yeah, let's see what
- 27:44Speaker 1: we got here. And again, guys, give us a you know,
- 27:46Speaker 1: hook and give us a call a five five pats,
- 27:49Speaker 1: five hundred. Heres were you know, waiting for for the
- 27:51Speaker 1: activity to kind of pick up a little bit and
- 27:54Speaker 1: check some of the emails as well, and uh, yeah,
- 27:59Speaker 1: we got one email from Effron. He's just wondering. I
- 28:02Speaker 1: think Bill Belichick's comment about Davon Godcha took him a
- 28:05Speaker 1: little bit by surprise. So I know there's been a
- 28:07Speaker 1: lot of you know, discussion about the two year extension
- 28:10Speaker 1: that they gave Godchaw, and he certainly seems excited. And
- 28:14Speaker 1: you know, I think at this point, Paul, I'm at
- 28:17Speaker 1: where it is what it is. The run defense has
- 28:19Speaker 1: got to be better this year, and you know, Godchaw
- 28:21Speaker 1: two years. Here we hopefully are going to get the
- 28:24Speaker 1: kind of season out of him that that they've been
- 28:26Speaker 1: kind of telling us that they think he can have. So,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you know, if that's the case, he can be a
- 28:30Speaker 1: significant contributor and win the line of scrimmage, it'll be huge.
- 28:33Speaker 1: But uh, you know, I think a lot of people
- 28:35Speaker 1: were a little bit, a little bit a little bit
- 28:36Speaker 1: confused by that meal You're not You're not alone, for sure, Effrin.
- 28:40Speaker 1: We're trying to wonder that ourselves did it do when
- 28:42Speaker 1: we got Yeah, I mean I just thought, you know,
- 28:45Speaker 1: for a unit that has really struggled and for a
- 28:48Speaker 1: player that you would consider to be a big part
- 28:50Speaker 1: of that unit to get rewarded, and I just I
- 28:53Speaker 1: just thought it was a little odd. You know, the
- 28:56Speaker 1: comments don't bug me at all, because that's what he does.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I know. Every time he says something really nice about somebody,
- 29:01Speaker 1: the media around here says, whoa Belichick throwing out bouquets
- 29:05Speaker 1: Like I mean, I remember when he called Patrick Chung
- 29:08Speaker 1: one of the best safeties in football, and everybody sort
- 29:10Speaker 1: of did the same thing, like Patrick John Right, was
- 29:12Speaker 1: he ever one of the best safeties in football? No?
- 29:14Speaker 1: But I think he's always spoke very highly of his team,
- 29:18Speaker 1: you know, his personnel. And I also think this particular year,
- 29:23Speaker 1: let's face it, this is probably the least amount of
- 29:25Speaker 1: expectations that the Patriots have had heading into a season,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you know, with the exception of the COVID year, um,
- 29:31Speaker 1: you know, over the last twenty years. And I think
- 29:35Speaker 1: he's probably heard a lot of that. He knows his
- 29:37Speaker 1: players have heard a lot of it, and he's maybe
- 29:39Speaker 1: going a little bit overboard the other way, trying to
- 29:41Speaker 1: let everybody know, like, yeah, you know, we got we
- 29:43Speaker 1: got players too, We're gonna we're gonna come out here
- 29:44Speaker 1: and compete. Good logistics question here from Phil. It's Phil
- 29:49Speaker 1: from Vermont. He's asking a little bit about coming down here,
- 29:53Speaker 1: wondering practice schedule for nine fifteen. How long is practice
- 29:56Speaker 1: seeing that it's going to be super hot next week,
- 29:57Speaker 1: what is the likelihood that practice is canceled and moved inside? Uh,
- 30:00Speaker 1: the festivities happened throughout the day, and I assume all
- 30:03Speaker 1: the bars and restaurants are open, Yes they are. I
- 30:06Speaker 1: don't think Heat's gonna move him into the into the
- 30:08Speaker 1: inside the socios dot com fieldhouse. That Heat will not
- 30:12Speaker 1: prefer that and thunder and lightning will move them. That's
- 30:16Speaker 1: about it. And we're getting a little shot there. Of course.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I mean I mentioned the Farrens family yesterday, kind of
- 30:21Speaker 1: football royalties certainly in Iowa. Bill Belichick welcoming Kirk Ferrens
- 30:25Speaker 1: here today, UH, talking to him through throughout, and of
- 30:29Speaker 1: course James Farrens still on the team. What who was
- 30:32Speaker 1: the other Farrens that was a coach here for a while,
- 30:34Speaker 1: coach at the tight ends. And I can't I can't
- 30:36Speaker 1: keep track of all the Farrens, but I think Brian's
- 30:39Speaker 1: not like THEOC yet. Sounds right, but so always uh,
- 30:45Speaker 1: always a pot pourri of guests here at the UH
- 30:48Speaker 1: at Patriots training camp. You never know a lot of times.
- 30:50Speaker 1: John bon Jovi, I mean he's almost irregular, but oh yeah,
- 30:54Speaker 1: you know he's here all the time. And the most
- 30:57Speaker 1: famous of which was his day that you and I
- 30:59Speaker 1: walked out around my office and and there was John
- 31:02Speaker 1: bon Jovi up in the administrative I was like right
- 31:05Speaker 1: around the corner from us. I don't know what I
- 31:06Speaker 1: was more surprised at seeing John bon Jovi there or
- 31:09Speaker 1: Josh McDaniels one time, just just talking to Paul Bring
- 31:13Speaker 1: that story up all the time. I've told you many times, Mike,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I'm cool when people like me people just randomly. That's
- 31:18Speaker 1: why I and I'm gonna be moving my eyes. I'm
- 31:20Speaker 1: not gonna get my little drop ins anymore. I like
- 31:22Speaker 1: that affirmation though. Uh here's one from from Dake Jake
- 31:26Speaker 1: in Australia. What part of our training camp would be
- 31:28Speaker 1: everyone's favorite part? To start seeing everyone come back and
- 31:30Speaker 1: get into it. The middle of everyone should be slightly
- 31:32Speaker 1: broken in seeing how they look it or the end
- 31:34Speaker 1: pads are involved in. It's full steam ahead. Joint practices, yeah,
- 31:38Speaker 1: scraps doing practices for sure. It's I mean, joint practices
- 31:41Speaker 1: are so fun. It's almost like you forget that there's
- 31:43Speaker 1: a whole other NFL team here. I mean, you're aware
- 31:45Speaker 1: that they're here, but you know, it's like all of
- 31:47Speaker 1: a sudden last year, remember being like, oh wait, it's
- 31:48Speaker 1: like Colon Barkley's out there right now. You know, like
- 31:50Speaker 1: that in generally and this is not like that. I
- 31:54Speaker 1: felt like this like throughout, like training camp when you
- 31:56Speaker 1: go and you you witness it for the first time
- 31:59Speaker 1: is exciting. Once you've seen it, I think that there's uh,
- 32:04Speaker 1: you know a little bit of a luster that's lost. Yeah,
- 32:06Speaker 1: but I do think that the joint practices provide something
- 32:09Speaker 1: different for exactly what Mike just said, Like all of
- 32:11Speaker 1: a sudden, you're starting to see Oh okay, well it
- 32:15Speaker 1: wasn't you know, some undrafted rookie who's probably not going
- 32:18Speaker 1: to make the team getting beat by you a number
- 32:20Speaker 1: one receiver. It was you know, the other team's best corner.
- 32:25Speaker 1: You know, last year we had uh, Darius Slay going
- 32:28Speaker 1: you know in Philadelphia, right, yeah, Um, you know he
- 32:31Speaker 1: was going against some it was he he was a
- 32:33Speaker 1: Philly last year. Right. You know some of those matchups
- 32:35Speaker 1: that you see, um that you don't get a chance
- 32:38Speaker 1: to see all the time at practice, those to me
- 32:39Speaker 1: are a little bit more interesting. Yeah. It's a good
- 32:42Speaker 1: good rep right there. Could catch by it by our cameras.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I think you guys saw it with Tekwon Thornton, you know,
- 32:47Speaker 1: trying to get off press against Justin the Bethel. Uh
- 32:51Speaker 1: looked like you know, Bethel probably got a got a
- 32:52Speaker 1: pretty good shot on him. Uh. That's something that that
- 32:55Speaker 1: that he's going to have to learn. You're seeing, you know,
- 32:57Speaker 1: Myers go up against Mitchell right here. Uh, you know,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you see how the veterans have a little bit of
- 33:02Speaker 1: cache in terms of their footwork being able to open
- 33:06Speaker 1: things up immediately. You saw Bethel get his hands immediately
- 33:09Speaker 1: on Thornton and kind of disrupt his timing. Uh that
- 33:13Speaker 1: that that's a big part of what he's going to
- 33:15Speaker 1: have to learn how to do. This is a good
- 33:16Speaker 1: match up here as we got Parker and Malcolm Butler.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Pretty good job by Butler, I mean, and we talked
- 33:23Speaker 1: about man coverage corners. Butler was certainly one when he
- 33:25Speaker 1: was here that could play plenty of man coverage, and
- 33:27Speaker 1: I think you saw a little bit of it there,
- 33:30Speaker 1: you know, as Paul's pointed out, Parker not exactly his
- 33:33Speaker 1: his skill shaking guys loose, but uh, some good reps
- 33:36Speaker 1: there and certainly I think illustrate but the body control
- 33:41Speaker 1: has been impressive. I think he moves pretty well now.
- 33:43Speaker 1: I think he's a guy that can can definitely give
- 33:46Speaker 1: them an element they didn't have last year because certainly,
- 33:50Speaker 1: all the things we heard about Nikio Harry, he didn't
- 33:53Speaker 1: do anywhere near as well as what I've seen in
- 33:54Speaker 1: a couple of days two days from from Parker, although
- 33:57Speaker 1: yesterday I thought they did they did a pretty good
- 33:59Speaker 1: job on him. He had that one amazing catch, yeah,
- 34:02Speaker 1: um on the sideline on a back shoulder play. But
- 34:05Speaker 1: otherwise I thought he was pretty uh, pretty well covered
- 34:08Speaker 1: throughout the day. Yeah, and that would be the one
- 34:10Speaker 1: thing like I would give Mills and I want to
- 34:14Speaker 1: and I want to be fair. I used to say, well,
- 34:15Speaker 1: Nikola Harry doesn't get open. Well, DeVante Parker hasn't been
- 34:18Speaker 1: open a lot. He's just made the catches anyway. Yea, yeah,
- 34:21Speaker 1: and that's what you know, That's what a contested catch
- 34:24Speaker 1: guy does. That's what it is, you know. Uh. Pedro
- 34:27Speaker 1: from Connecticut checks in. Pedro. Yeah, with day three of
- 34:30Speaker 1: training camp starting, what are some things we should look
- 34:32Speaker 1: for after the last two practices he was at training
- 34:34Speaker 1: camp day one, noticed Trey Nixon made a couple of mistakes,
- 34:36Speaker 1: took a lap. Is that a bad sign? Do you
- 34:38Speaker 1: think for his future? Um? I don't know, guys, what
- 34:41Speaker 1: do you think? What are you seeing? How to Trey Nixon?
- 34:43Speaker 1: I mean I think it was he had an opportunity,
- 34:45Speaker 1: you know, with Jakobe being limited in the spring, he
- 34:48Speaker 1: got a chance. But it doesn't really seem like yet
- 34:50Speaker 1: he's uh, he's gotten much of an opportunity to work
- 34:53Speaker 1: with kind of the top group. It's also tough with
- 34:55Speaker 1: all the hype he got from the beat writers where
- 34:57Speaker 1: he was like a guy that could probably be a
- 35:00Speaker 1: surprise make the team or a surprise cut with how
- 35:03Speaker 1: much he was hyped up after a mini camps. Yeah,
- 35:07Speaker 1: and fred Fred was a big fan. Fred Fred had
- 35:09Speaker 1: him as you know, one of his guys. But it's
- 35:12Speaker 1: a long camp. You never know. I mean, one injury
- 35:14Speaker 1: here or there can can change things dramatically. So that's
- 35:18Speaker 1: you know, something to watch here is ce Joe Judge
- 35:21Speaker 1: kind of giving everybody some coaching points. They're working through
- 35:26Speaker 1: some uh I guess it's just basically offense against air
- 35:29Speaker 1: throwing some routes. But over here on the defensive side,
- 35:34Speaker 1: it's like we're working on, you know, sorting out, sorting
- 35:38Speaker 1: out stack releases. I mean, that's a tough thing to do.
- 35:41Speaker 1: You got three guys, how do you how do you
- 35:42Speaker 1: match it out of the out of the breaks? Where
- 35:45Speaker 1: does everybody go? Certainly something you see them practice in
- 35:47Speaker 1: a ton in practice. I like that see something that
- 35:51Speaker 1: they practice in a ton in practice practice, But you
- 35:53Speaker 1: got a practice instament. We're talking about practice talking. We're
- 35:56Speaker 1: talking about practices, practice stuff that you practice and practice.
- 35:59Speaker 1: So we're gonna be wrapping up video here shortly, but
- 36:01Speaker 1: us stay with us. We'll have audio time just throughout
- 36:05Speaker 1: so you can hear the dulcet tones of our of
- 36:07Speaker 1: our voices and analysis and things are sure to ramp
- 36:10Speaker 1: up here in a little bit. So back to the
- 36:12Speaker 1: Train Nixon thing real quick. Um, he did do a
- 36:14Speaker 1: lap on the first day. He bubbled a punt. So
- 36:16Speaker 1: it's not like, you know, he's you know, missing his assignments,
- 36:19Speaker 1: running the wrong routes and you know, not not doing
- 36:22Speaker 1: what he's supposed to be doing. He bubbled a punt
- 36:24Speaker 1: and that's just like a false start for alignment. It's
- 36:26Speaker 1: not necessarily like, oh okay, he's in the doghouse now
- 36:30Speaker 1: he's running laps during practice. But I will say that
- 36:33Speaker 1: he has been exclusively with the quote unquote backups and
- 36:38Speaker 1: hasn't gotten a ton of opportunities, you know, with you know,
- 36:41Speaker 1: after we saw him in the spring be a big
- 36:43Speaker 1: part of what they did offensively, we haven't seen really
- 36:46Speaker 1: many of those opportunities. And you see him now he's
- 36:49Speaker 1: actually I mean, it's all the receivers are now over
- 36:52Speaker 1: with the quarterbacks, so you are seeing a chance. Now
- 36:55Speaker 1: he's getting some opportunities that wouldn't call this quasi competitive even,
- 36:59Speaker 1: but is he is getting a little run there with
- 37:01Speaker 1: some of the top guys. You know. Addison from Fresno
- 37:05Speaker 1: checks in Paul and and he says, uh, you know,
- 37:07Speaker 1: he's gonna push back on the people that want to
- 37:09Speaker 1: see video of us on Patriots Unfiltered. He says, am
- 37:12Speaker 1: I to believe that people would actually have six hours
- 37:14Speaker 1: a week that are free enough to sit out and
- 37:16Speaker 1: watch an audio podcast. I don't understand the overall pushed
- 37:19Speaker 1: for video podcast. I always felt the charm of podcast
- 37:21Speaker 1: was keeping entertained or to provide white noise without being
- 37:23Speaker 1: tied down to a videodison. Oh, preach it a job absolutely.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I mean it's just like I mean, I don't care,
- 37:31Speaker 1: like it doesn't really change anything if you want to
- 37:33Speaker 1: do it. But I've never I've never unless he can't
- 37:36Speaker 1: to me, if I'm gonna watch radio on TV, I
- 37:39Speaker 1: need a significant amount of production value that goes with it.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I need b role playing. I need you know, some
- 37:47Speaker 1: kind of information up and you know, like well, you know,
- 37:49Speaker 1: we put up some things right now, like you know,
- 37:51Speaker 1: from some burning questions that you did heading into training camp,
- 37:54Speaker 1: and you know some of that kind of stuff, you know,
- 37:57Speaker 1: maybe updates on the roster and things like that. But
- 38:00Speaker 1: if you're just gonna look at the guys talking, I mean,
- 38:02Speaker 1: no offense out. Yeah yeah you lovely girl. Yeah, I
- 38:05Speaker 1: mean I'm just saying you look at our I think
- 38:10Speaker 1: I could get Alex whenever. I like the band. I
- 38:15Speaker 1: like being made fun of, like I like the witty band. Yeah,
- 38:17Speaker 1: if you're not getting made fun of it, I feel
- 38:19Speaker 1: like they don't like you. But well that is true.
- 38:21Speaker 1: You know, I don't hear the only time you're making
- 38:25Speaker 1: fun of me behind my back, right rather it beat
- 38:27Speaker 1: to my face. Yeah, well, we want to thank you guys.
- 38:30Speaker 1: We're tuning out of video now, but again stay with us.
- 38:33Speaker 1: We are continuing on here as practice continues for you
- 38:36Speaker 1: know what will probably be uh close to another hour
- 38:39Speaker 1: at least, as we ramp up towards things. Um, look
- 38:43Speaker 1: like Mac Jones just hit Taekwon Thornton over the middle.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Do you see a little city, Turn on the jets.
- 38:48Speaker 1: That's what I want to know, a little bit, turn
- 38:50Speaker 1: on those jets. Quick attendance. Note. Um, obviously we mentioned
- 38:56Speaker 1: we're not seeing a Hoyer out there, but also Dietrich
- 38:58Speaker 1: Wise I haven't seen for the second day. Yeah, I agree,
- 39:02Speaker 1: those are the two uh not on lists I've seen.
- 39:04Speaker 1: So we have two guys off the lists back Jake
- 39:08Speaker 1: Bailey and David Andrews UM. But still um, still six
- 39:13Speaker 1: other guys still on those lists. So not a whole
- 39:16Speaker 1: lot changing in terms of attendance. Pretty healthy overall. And
- 39:19Speaker 1: I'm not sure what the situation is because I actually
- 39:21Speaker 1: saw Dietrich Wise after the first practice. Um, and as
- 39:26Speaker 1: as always with with Dietrich, he was you know, you
- 39:29Speaker 1: can never have given me the business. Yeah, Um, didn't
- 39:32Speaker 1: really seem like there was anything. So I wonder if
- 39:33Speaker 1: maybe it's a personal matter or something that he's dealing with. Well,
- 39:37Speaker 1: this is this is this one probably not up your ally, Paul.
- 39:39Speaker 1: And I'm not sure exactly what they mean. But Chris
- 39:41Speaker 1: from from Virginia's asking two questions who has bigger quads
- 39:44Speaker 1: Bailey's Appy, Damien Harris or Mike And can Mike outsquat
- 39:47Speaker 1: them both? I mean, I really hope you're not referring
- 39:49Speaker 1: to me, because I certainly am not one of the
- 39:51Speaker 1: Quadzilla's Kevin Kevin Harris. Kevin Harris, Now that's Quadzilla. That's
- 39:56Speaker 1: the one I knew I was going to tee up.
- 40:00Speaker 1: I think, so, I haven't seen Kevin up close yet.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I don't think yeah, they I mean they big legs. Yeah,
- 40:06Speaker 1: they've been tough to to kind of spot. I mean,
- 40:08Speaker 1: if you happen to see that video of Nick Chubb
- 40:10Speaker 1: that made it made the rounds last week, it was like,
- 40:13Speaker 1: I don't know, six hundred and change squats. Yes, that
- 40:16Speaker 1: was insane. The bar bell was bending so much it
- 40:19Speaker 1: almost looked like one of those like novelty ones that
- 40:22Speaker 1: was made out of foam. That's how much it was bending.
- 40:25Speaker 1: It was like over six hundred pounds. It was like
- 40:27Speaker 1: you see in a cartoon. That's a lot of squatting.
- 40:30Speaker 1: That's a lot of squats. That's a lot of squats. Alex,
- 40:33Speaker 1: you're in fitness, where's your take on squats? Um? You
- 40:36Speaker 1: still get down there? You still get the belt one down.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I don't get the belt. I don't. I don't put
- 40:41Speaker 1: up more than like one twenty these days. I'm not
- 40:44Speaker 1: trying to blow my back. You're so close to the
- 40:45Speaker 1: big wheels one thirty five. Just know that's my PR.
- 40:49Speaker 1: That was my PR back in the day, back before
- 40:53Speaker 1: I was washed up. My my big wheel talk. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: put the big wheels on the one thirty five twenty five.
- 41:02Speaker 1: So we're looking down here right below us as the
- 41:05Speaker 1: defense kind of defense on defense. But yeah, basically we're
- 41:08Speaker 1: gonna need them to do something. So do something anything,
- 41:11Speaker 1: any what is the exactly that you'd say you do here?
- 41:15Speaker 1: And so you know what, It's just something I've noticed,
- 41:17Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of going on the other side
- 41:19Speaker 1: with Bailey Zappy a little yeah, Agalore emotions. Yeah, it's
- 41:23Speaker 1: been opportunities for him. I thought yesterday he got more
- 41:26Speaker 1: reps than he did. Did you guys feel like that
- 41:29Speaker 1: or was that something that only yet? Yeah, we talked
- 41:31Speaker 1: about a little bit of all aberrations. It just seems
- 41:33Speaker 1: I'm not always in tune with the masses. Oh stop,
- 41:36Speaker 1: I think you are. No, I think yeah, I think
- 41:38Speaker 1: you were right. I mean it seemed like you know,
- 41:40Speaker 1: I mean, I think we talked about it where it's
- 41:42Speaker 1: Boyer knows what he's doing. You know, you gotta you
- 41:44Speaker 1: gotta get this kid right. But now I'm wondering if
- 41:46Speaker 1: maybe Horrior is like dealing with some kind of like
- 41:48Speaker 1: shoulder issue or something like that. He's not out here
- 41:50Speaker 1: in uniform. Yeah, he didn't talk to light light day yesterday.
- 41:54Speaker 1: He didn't speak to the media, but I was speaking
- 41:56Speaker 1: to him and he just like about golf. But it
- 41:58Speaker 1: seemed like everything was cool. Did he say like I'm
- 42:00Speaker 1: injured at any point? No, obviously, Can you say I'm
- 42:03Speaker 1: actually going to be Did you say I'm actually going
- 42:05Speaker 1: to be the offensive coordinating It's like everybody always wanted
- 42:08Speaker 1: me to be. Would that make everybody happy? Honestly, they
- 42:12Speaker 1: would probably calm them down, regardless of how much sense
- 42:16Speaker 1: it actually makes. They just roll out somewhere like Brian
- 42:18Speaker 1: horres the offensive corner. That's it, and he's got the
- 42:20Speaker 1: headset and that's just it. And you say, wait a minute,
- 42:22Speaker 1: doesn't mean I don't get that guaranteed money that you
- 42:24Speaker 1: guys thought about it, so Alex, just to disappoint you
- 42:26Speaker 1: a little bit. You can see the stuff that they're
- 42:28Speaker 1: working on, both offensive and defensively in where it is
- 42:32Speaker 1: it's a continuation of the red zone, so that the
- 42:36Speaker 1: defensive backs are sort of running routes against each other,
- 42:39Speaker 1: you know, trying to trying to guard against some of
- 42:41Speaker 1: those kinds of uh, you know, back line stuff, some
- 42:45Speaker 1: back shoulder fades, corner fades, uh in the end zone
- 42:48Speaker 1: and the offense doing the same thing on the other side.
- 42:51Speaker 1: So I think we'll we'll see a little bit more
- 42:53Speaker 1: that as Bill likes to call at the red area,
- 42:56Speaker 1: not the red zone. The red area has there. We've
- 42:58Speaker 1: seen Steve Belichick not seeing dmc d mac anywhere I
- 43:03Speaker 1: saw him earlier, But um, I do not see I
- 43:05Speaker 1: don't see him with this group. Great, I saw him
- 43:08Speaker 1: and when I did, when I saw him come out
- 43:10Speaker 1: up the stairs, he did not have his uniform shirt on.
- 43:13Speaker 1: He had it. I thought I thought he had it
- 43:16Speaker 1: in his hand. But maybe i'll I'll give another look
- 43:19Speaker 1: of that. Maybe uh, maybe I crossed him off the
- 43:21Speaker 1: list Prematurely's that what you're getting on the Twitter machine? Yeah, no,
- 43:24Speaker 1: I haven't looked yet, but I just, you know, noticed
- 43:27Speaker 1: all the safeties down there. But I thought I thought
- 43:29Speaker 1: I had seen him come out up the stairs. But maybe,

- 48:09Speaker 1: Patriots training camp. This is Patriots Unfiltered. All right, we're
- 48:15Speaker 1: back out here, day three of practice and it's starting
- 48:17Speaker 1: to ramp up a little bit far into the far
- 48:20Speaker 1: afield is getting some seven on seven work, slowly kind
- 48:23Speaker 1: of ramping that up. But we're gonna go right to
- 48:25Speaker 1: the phones right now. We've got Dominique in New York. Dominique,
- 48:28Speaker 1: what's up? What's going on? What are you wondering here
- 48:31Speaker 1: about the Patriots? Oh? You gotta call him up there? Guy?
- 48:37Speaker 1: There you go? Good? Did hey there? Yeah? Um? Yeah,
- 48:41Speaker 1: there we go. Can you hear me? Yeah? I got
- 48:42Speaker 1: you perfect? Sorry, Yeah. I had a couple of questions
- 48:45Speaker 1: that actually deals with the running backs. Um. I think
- 48:48Speaker 1: a lot of people have been high on a Mondrea
- 48:51Speaker 1: and I can see why. He's shown great physicality of
- 48:53Speaker 1: middle He's been able to show the great breakways fee two,
- 48:55Speaker 1: I think. But I'm wondering what really is the major
- 48:58Speaker 1: difference between him and Damian Harry Stuff always been a
- 49:00Speaker 1: Damien Harris fan. I don't fell which I'd love running
- 49:03Speaker 1: back Carouse though, But really what's the difference is his
- 49:06Speaker 1: ability to catch out the backfield. We've seen him I'm
- 49:08Speaker 1: going to really do well over the past couple of days.
- 49:11Speaker 1: And then my second question is, are with the emergence
- 49:15Speaker 1: or you know, the emergence of new defenses coming out,
- 49:17Speaker 1: was even the seven dB set that was mentioned on
- 49:20Speaker 1: the previous show, do you think the linebacker position is
- 49:23Speaker 1: eventually gonna, you know, kind of fade into the background.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Maybe you can be eliminated similar to the fullback with
- 49:29Speaker 1: the more active and you know, mobile quarterbacks that were
- 49:32Speaker 1: seeing now in today's game. Yeah, a couple of great
- 49:35Speaker 1: questions there, Dominique. Let's start with Stevenson. I mean, I
- 49:39Speaker 1: think it's just kind of the weird, unique culbination of
- 49:42Speaker 1: Stevenson that he is. I mean, I think Harris is
- 49:44Speaker 1: a strong back. I think he's got good speed, but
- 49:48Speaker 1: Stevenson's just a little bit thicker and maybe a little
- 49:51Speaker 1: bit more surprisingly explosive. I don't know who would win
- 49:54Speaker 1: in a foot race if you align them up, Probably
- 49:56Speaker 1: maybe Harris, but I still think that Stevenson is deceptive, fast,
- 50:00Speaker 1: and you know, again, I don't know if you line
- 50:02Speaker 1: them up, who catches the ball better. But Stevenson does
- 50:04Speaker 1: look very smooth catching the ball. I don't know if
- 50:06Speaker 1: that's going to be part of the offense, but he
- 50:08Speaker 1: just seems like a unique guy to me. Paul, like
- 50:10Speaker 1: just his size. They have a good situation. But I
- 50:14Speaker 1: agree with you, Michael, I think that I think Stevenson
- 50:17Speaker 1: provides a little bit more explosiveness and um and whatnot.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I think he has more versatility to play on all
- 50:24Speaker 1: three downs. Again, I think that Harris can do those
- 50:26Speaker 1: things too, I just think Stevenson does them a little
- 50:29Speaker 1: bit better. But I like both of those guys. I
- 50:31Speaker 1: think they'll both be a big part of the offense.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And one interesting note, you know, talking yesterday, Stevenson spoke
- 50:36Speaker 1: to us after practice and a couple of things. First,
- 50:40Speaker 1: he dropped seven pounds. He's down to two twenty five,
- 50:43Speaker 1: I believe, um, he reported, And we talked a little
- 50:47Speaker 1: bit about why, and he like unabashedly said, I didn't
- 50:51Speaker 1: come into camping and good good enough shape last year.
- 50:54Speaker 1: And if you remember, he got off to a very
- 50:56Speaker 1: slow start. He had to believe he was on NFI
- 50:59Speaker 1: to open, which Ivan was up front about it. And
- 51:01Speaker 1: Ivan had a comment and during you know, around this
- 51:04Speaker 1: time about he needs to learn how to become a professional,
- 51:08Speaker 1: uh something along those lines. I'm paraphrasing, but it was
- 51:11Speaker 1: eye opening to hear him talk like that about, you know,
- 51:13Speaker 1: an incoming rookie. So that's what he was talking about.
- 51:17Speaker 1: He wasn't, he wasn't necessarily prepared for NFL life. When
- 51:20Speaker 1: he got here, he got himself in shape and he
- 51:23Speaker 1: feels like he's in better shape now than he was
- 51:24Speaker 1: at this time last year. Well, some interesting stuff going
- 51:28Speaker 1: on down there. I mean, I don't know what you've caught, Paul,
- 51:29Speaker 1: but it's it's like three receivers bunch. Yeah, it's like three.
- 51:33Speaker 1: It's basically like a three on four kind of a deal.
- 51:37Speaker 1: And um, you know, Jona Smith made an absolutely tremendous
- 51:41Speaker 1: catch about you know, i'd say three or four minutes
- 51:44Speaker 1: ago back at the end zone, leaping high over the
- 51:48Speaker 1: defender and just you know, snaring the ball. You know,
- 51:51Speaker 1: one of those tough, you know, away from your body,
- 51:54Speaker 1: high point kind of hand catches that you need to make.
- 51:57Speaker 1: And it was a it was a good play, Malcolm Butler.
- 52:01Speaker 1: That's Jacoby uh and Myers. Although the balls on the ground,
- 52:05Speaker 1: balls on the ground. Um, But again, see, these are
- 52:08Speaker 1: the kinds of things like, yeah, there's a lot of
- 52:10Speaker 1: there's a lot of like collisions going on, you know,
- 52:14Speaker 1: inadvertent or not a lot of contact on some of
- 52:17Speaker 1: those places. You don't know if those are penalties. Yeah,
- 52:19Speaker 1: that was kind of a back back shoulder kind of
- 52:21Speaker 1: contested catch it. I mean Jacoby went up for it,
- 52:24Speaker 1: but I mean he just came straight down on his back.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I'm not sure he who held on. Uh. But I
- 52:29Speaker 1: also caught Trey Nixon pass going off at his hands
- 52:33Speaker 1: um as well that that. You know, again, just those guys,
- 52:37Speaker 1: every ball that is throwing your direction is is huge.
- 52:39Speaker 1: And like Wilkerson had an easy drop in drills earlier too,
- 52:43Speaker 1: And those are the kinds of things and it's not
- 52:44Speaker 1: fair like you're like, well, you had like four hundred
- 52:47Speaker 1: passes thrown to you and you and you're pointing out
- 52:48Speaker 1: the two that I didn't catch, you know, Um, but
- 52:51Speaker 1: for those guys, you know, you almost have to do
- 52:53Speaker 1: something extraordinary to get noticed because well I don't think yeah, yeah,
- 52:58Speaker 1: like I don't think the wide receiver crop is like,
- 53:02Speaker 1: you know, anything special, But I do think they have,
- 53:04Speaker 1: you know, four solid NFL veteran type players in born, Agalore, Parker,
- 53:12Speaker 1: and Myers. I think there are four guys that have
- 53:15Speaker 1: sort of established themselves as NFL caliber wide receivers. So
- 53:19Speaker 1: if you're going to be a guy that hasn't really
- 53:21Speaker 1: done that yet in his career, I think you have
- 53:23Speaker 1: to be extraordinary. Again, Thornton's not going anywhere as a
- 53:26Speaker 1: rookie second round pick, so there's not a lot of
- 53:28Speaker 1: room on that depth chart to crack it unless there's
- 53:31Speaker 1: some transactions made. And in order to push a guy
- 53:33Speaker 1: like a or Myers off the roster, if you're a
- 53:36Speaker 1: Trey Nixon or a Christian Wilkerson, you have to be
- 53:38Speaker 1: outstanding every day every day. So we're moved to the
- 53:42Speaker 1: punt portion. So we're getting to see Jack Bailey's leg
- 53:45Speaker 1: Hay Bailey, and we had rookie Marcus Jones catching the
- 53:50Speaker 1: first rep. I think that's a role that you can
- 53:53Speaker 1: see him maybe slip it into Trey Nixon. Now he's
- 53:56Speaker 1: next up. As you know, Taekwon Thornton comes Beryl and
- 54:00Speaker 1: down on him. So a little bit of speed there
- 54:02Speaker 1: and now and now your guy Paul Kyle Dugger. I mean,
- 54:04Speaker 1: I think we should be making notes of this because
- 54:06Speaker 1: you've been consistent with this, you know, involving him more.
- 54:10Speaker 1: You've got deep safety class. He was an outstanding punt
- 54:13Speaker 1: returner at lenor Ryan of course, not not to be
- 54:16Speaker 1: confused with learn the department store the college. But you
- 54:21Speaker 1: know where you have filed you know, the deep dive
- 54:23Speaker 1: deep dive reference somewhere. Fred is like a women's department,
- 54:29Speaker 1: women's clothing department store somewhere. Fred's gotta is nodding knowingly
- 54:33Speaker 1: to that reference. But uh, you know you're getting dug.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I mean, if you've got the depth at safety and
- 54:38Speaker 1: he's going to be a plus you know, potential plus
- 54:40Speaker 1: returner like that, why not givem a chance? But but
- 54:43Speaker 1: certainly all eyes on Marcus Jones. You haven't seen those highlights,
- 54:46Speaker 1: uh from his college days? Go check those out. Of
- 54:48Speaker 1: what kind of punt returner he was, Um, maybe the
- 54:51Speaker 1: most electric punt returner an NCAA is absolutely um. I
- 54:54Speaker 1: think he what led the nation in like all purpose yards.
- 54:57Speaker 1: I mean, he's just he's a guy that's done a
- 54:59Speaker 1: little of everything. But I think we've all been kind
- 55:01Speaker 1: of surprised at his stature. He just he looks. I
- 55:04Speaker 1: mean we saw him. I don't know if you were
- 55:05Speaker 1: down there outs with me, maybe off field, we were
- 55:07Speaker 1: like in the studio. I think the day after he
- 55:10Speaker 1: was drafted he came in to say everybody, and it
- 55:12Speaker 1: was like a little bit surprising. But certainly the speed,
- 55:17Speaker 1: the quickness, the change of direction ability, uh, that those
- 55:20Speaker 1: things are all there, and I'm sure he's gonna make
- 55:22Speaker 1: a lot of people missed this preseason. The punt up
- 55:27Speaker 1: by Billy, it's a oh, and that's not good mark
- 55:30Speaker 1: what I'm looking out. So a little bit of a
- 55:32Speaker 1: little bit of bumble there off his hands and onto
- 55:34Speaker 1: the ground. So I'm waiting to see either Troy Brown
- 55:37Speaker 1: or camp A Court come running over full speed to
- 55:40Speaker 1: talk to him about that one. And it looks like
- 55:41Speaker 1: he's off on a lap. As already knew has expected
- 55:46Speaker 1: some stuff up here in camp at least help there's
- 55:49Speaker 1: there's a block servations, uh for you, Paul. I don't
- 55:52Speaker 1: know why you're making the lap, I really don't. I
- 55:54Speaker 1: really don't know why. I know you love to see
- 55:58Speaker 1: you come up two thousand where it's a crap every
- 56:00Speaker 1: day he's moving them. It's definitely not a trade Brown
- 56:05Speaker 1: Trent Brown type paste for sure. But again I want
- 56:09Speaker 1: to point out Time Montgomery's presence and a lot of
- 56:11Speaker 1: these things they're working on. Punt protection. It's it's hunting today, um,
- 56:15Speaker 1: and we see Time Montgomery serving is one of the
- 56:18Speaker 1: sort of outside gunners you know, not no, not one
- 56:21Speaker 1: of the gunners, one of the outside protection guys. They
- 56:24Speaker 1: it's like kind of the Brandon Bolden role. Um. Well,
- 56:26Speaker 1: that's a full role that needs to be filled, of course,
- 56:30Speaker 1: very important. But we've also noticed, uh, you know d
- 56:34Speaker 1: mac is is not spotted him early on, So if
- 56:38Speaker 1: I did see him earlier, he is no longer um
- 56:41Speaker 1: out in the field visible. Maybe he had Good Morning
- 56:43Speaker 1: Football responsibilities. I think he did it yesterday though maybe
- 56:45Speaker 1: invited him switch Jason couldn't do it today. Imagine they
- 56:50Speaker 1: just switched. Devin just shows up, sees if his newcast
- 56:53Speaker 1: notices or if Jason's newcast. I think that's a good
- 56:56Speaker 1: bit for Good Morning Football, would be just to swap
- 56:58Speaker 1: him one day and have Jason come out. When Jason
- 57:01Speaker 1: first signed during training camp, I remember a little did
- 57:05Speaker 1: but I will say this and I'm not great at
- 57:07Speaker 1: those in general. I could always tell them apart. Yeah,
- 57:11Speaker 1: they are identical, but I could always tell them apart. Yeah,
- 57:13Speaker 1: me too. I didn't find that. I didn't find them
- 57:16Speaker 1: too tough to discern. So I still going through some
- 57:20Speaker 1: punt stuff. Quarterbacks just kind of hanging out in the
- 57:23Speaker 1: end zone. You know that's Uh, appreciate it if they
- 57:25Speaker 1: started to do this stuff more on their own time. Yeah, yeah,
- 57:28Speaker 1: but rather than when we were on the air. It
- 57:30Speaker 1: goes Marcus Jones again. Let's see if he can redeem himself.
- 57:34Speaker 1: And this one will be from Jake Julian, the offensive
- 57:38Speaker 1: guard turned punter. Yeah, pretty good, pretty good, little depth,
- 57:42Speaker 1: got down to the ten, caught cleanly this time. Good job, Marcus.
- 57:47Speaker 1: You don't want to be a ever repeater. That's right.
- 57:49Speaker 1: We know that where Paul phrased that, I have a
- 57:52Speaker 1: hard time saying so I say it very slowly. Can't
- 57:58Speaker 1: can't syllables like Max sure, cannot say that. It's very
- 58:05Speaker 1: very tough one. But you know, I gotta say, Paul,
- 58:08Speaker 1: you pointed out John hus catch, and Uh, I think
- 58:11Speaker 1: he's doing what he needs to do. I mean, it
- 58:12Speaker 1: hasn't you know, maybe been every day, multiple plays. But
- 58:16Speaker 1: I think over the first two days he's made he's
- 58:18Speaker 1: made some plays in the end zone and and and
- 58:20Speaker 1: made some opportunities, and he's been out here and been
- 58:23Speaker 1: able to write. So what I love to spring because
- 58:25Speaker 1: if you recall, I think we we all felt that
- 58:28Speaker 1: he had a pretty good training camp last year. Yeah,
- 58:30Speaker 1: and you're starting to wonder, like, okay, because I agree.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I think he's been active. I think he's looked comfortable
- 58:37Speaker 1: and he's made place. Yeah, Now what does that mean?
- 58:40Speaker 1: You know, because last year I think we would have
- 58:41Speaker 1: said all the same things. Um, you know, I think
- 58:44Speaker 1: you know, my old buddy, big head Andy Hart, uh,
- 58:47Speaker 1: you know, had him ticketed for for for Canton. I
- 58:50Speaker 1: did too, based off of what he did in the summer.
- 58:52Speaker 1: He thought he was going to have an explosive season
- 58:55Speaker 1: and obviously never materialized. So what to you know? Take
- 58:59Speaker 1: it for what it is. Those underneath crosser routes, it
- 59:01Speaker 1: seemed like they were just determined to make that happen.
- 59:03Speaker 1: And I think him and Uche were kind of opposite
- 59:06Speaker 1: into the spectrum for me where I was all aboard
- 59:08Speaker 1: the John Who hype train. I never quite got the
- 59:10Speaker 1: UCH hype train last year, and you know we saw
- 59:12Speaker 1: how both of them worked out. But let's jump to
- 59:15Speaker 1: the phones now with Todd from North Carolina. Todd, how
- 59:18Speaker 1: are you this fine Friday morning? I'm sorry for hanging
- 59:21Speaker 1: up on you guys, but I got a summer cold
- 59:23Speaker 1: and I was coughing up stuff and I thought you
- 59:25Speaker 1: guys didn't need to hear me sound like a cat,
- 59:27Speaker 1: you know, discharging a hairball. I didn't realize you had
- 59:31Speaker 1: hung up on I mean either, actually you did. You
- 59:34Speaker 1: said something snarky like I abandoned, ducing mid answer. Oh, yesterday.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Now that's all right, you're all right, Todd. Yeah, there's
- 59:43Speaker 1: a lot going on. We just need Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 59:47Speaker 1: I know. If somebody accuses me having a red butt
- 59:49Speaker 1: all the time, I won't say. My quick question is
- 59:54Speaker 1: and I will take it off the air. If d
- 59:56Speaker 1: Mac were to say, move into a coaching position or retire,
- 59:59Speaker 1: how does that affect a cap Because I know that
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: he got a he got a significant amount of money
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: for coming back this year, and I remember Paul Induce
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: arguing about, you know, bringing back to veterans spending extra
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: money on So if he moved into a different like Wan,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I'd love to see him as a coach. How would
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: that affect the salary answer? I mean, I think it's
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: it's totally separate. I mean, you would hurt the cap.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I mean, you're going to be paying dmac dead money
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: till twenty twenty. You're paying him whether he plays or not.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: So I think we just have to kind of accept
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: that that that's the decision they were making. What you
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: would save on the cap is whatever his paragraph five salaries.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I don't have that number in front of me. I'm
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: good whatever whatever his base salary is for this year,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: you wouldn't have to pay him if it's not guaranteed.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I've never heard the legal jargon come out of you, Paul.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I was I was taken. I was taken aback by that.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: And uh, but he has dead money from the void
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: years and he's on the cap like there's you're not
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: going to save a ton that kind of there's no
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: indication that Devin mccordy is interested in coaching either, And
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: and he's right. We we had a little, you know,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: a little some some minor verbal joustings as sometimes we do.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: But I gotta say, I gotta admit, Paul, I can't
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: I it makes me a little bit sick imagining cutting
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you know, a Josh Bledsoe type. You know, as much
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: as I love DMC, not to say that it's him
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: or that, but you know, it's just to your point.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: You've got If you've got a young, talented, promising guy,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: maybe maybe you got to get him in there sooner
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: than later. So I will say what the offense seems
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: to be switching to a little bit as they progress.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Here is and I always get this mixed up, Mike,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: you can help me out. Is this the further away
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: from the goal line you get? Is is that called
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: the high red zone? I call it the high I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: caught the high red zone, so high red zone. You're
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: you're up by the twenty now, so you're still in
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: the red zone technically. Um, but I think most of
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: the players we've seen the last couple of days have
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: been inside the ten. Um these are you know more?
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I think looks like about the eighteen uh now, so
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: seven on seven work um with the offense you got
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Henry Bourne Parker, Uh, you know three of the receivers.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: I can't see whom the outside guy is on the
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: other side. Uh, maybe Agalore, But I can't tell from here.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: It was so Myers Myers, Meyers, so Mayers starting to
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: pick up some catches today. I mean a little underneath
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: one in the first one, little underneath one on the
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: second one. He had seemed like the touchdown down there.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: He might he might not hung on too but uh,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: good for him to get a little bit active. And
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: of course as you get a little bit further out,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: a little bit more space, that's more conducive, I think,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: to Jacoby's style, get having a little more area in
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: the middle of the field to work with as Taig
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Montgomery jumps in and uh, let's see, it looks like
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: today's Waukeie talkie contestant is Joe Judge. Come on, Dan,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: you're the one with the Waukee talckey today. Point. They
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: all have a piece of paper, They all consult with
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: the quarterbacks after every I just wish they could get
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: one of those like you know, Dustin Henderson type wakee talkies,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: you know, the big eighties giant Well, you know what's
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: with these small ones. I don't like this any I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: need the big old school ones here. Uh So it
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: seems like the windspis still still Terrence Mitchell with Jalen Mills.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: By the way, there's another one of those catches for
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Johnno Smith that's very similar to the one he made
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: down the other end. And now he's getting the crowd, yeah,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: getting the crowd going, Um, I'm gonna make an observation.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: That's way a way too early and going to be
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: like one of those winning bell kind of rest dang dang.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Kyle Dugger struggles to me still in coverage. I thought
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: he gave up some completions yesterday like that one, this one,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: you know, and you look and you're like, oh, that's
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: a great catch. It was a great catch, but he
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: was open. He went up, he went up and caught it,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: and he had some he had some space. Yeah. I mean,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: I think that the skill there that Johnny showed that
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: that that Dugger didn't really was once the ball was
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: in the air, john and was able to find it,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: get up, turn around. It seems like Dugger had a
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: moment if he could, if he could have found the
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: ball to get up and you know, make a play
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: on it, but it was a little bit too late
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: and Johnny was able to go up and get it.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: So and this is what happens when you watch every player,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: every practice, you sort of micromanage everything. And I would say, anecdotally,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: I still think that he's a guy who is more
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: suited to be around the line of scrimmage than he
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: is in coverage. Yeah, and I thought he made some
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: strides last year in coverage. He made some plays at
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: some picks, Yeah, which is okay because I mean, if
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: they've got a bunch of safeties that maybe they can
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: you know, mix and match it a little bit. But
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I mean I'm with most people, I think, and you know,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: hoping that that Kyle Dugger could develop into really, you know,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: full all around safety that they can do everything. You can't.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: You can't argue with his physicality and you know, his
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: ability to deliver a hit, I think, but you're right.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I think he had a slow start too another one
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: last year, but started to get his hands on the
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: ball a little bit as things went on. Taekwon Thorte
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: on the last one had a little catch over the
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: middle two as many of his catches have kind of
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: looked like back of the end zone for It's a
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: good job by Sean Wade. Yeah. Yeah, tough tough to
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: tell how that would have. Yeah, I mean I have
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: been ruled. Here's my thing. There's no question into my
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: mind that Sean Wade picks that off if he doesn't
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: have those gloves. I think Mack is telling him right now,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: good play. Like mac Jones went right over to Sean
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Wade after that play, and I think they sort of
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: understand that. That's what Adrian Phillips was talking about, you know,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: like if we're able to make plays with these things
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: on you know, but he did you just you just
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: tip the cap. But I thought that was a I
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: thought that was a good play by Wade. And that
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: he's white. He's gotten a lot of he's gotten a
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: lot of reps, Yeah, but I haven't really seen him
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: make a lot of plays. That was a good player
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: on Nixon and that was really just kind of a
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: fade pass the end and corner of the end zone.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: That and Johnny there you go again, name guy Johnny
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: on On Dugger stopped short. See, you know, just as
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: a point of comparison, and and again this is another
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: wildly premature I think Blitzo has done a better job
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: on John W. Smith. You know, when we've seen him,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: you know, I have a chance to cover the tight ends.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Ye yeah, back and haunt me like in the middle
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: of October when one guy's not even on the team. Yeah,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: but this is you know, I mean high high red zone.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: As you said, Paul, I think this is where John
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: is supposed to its supposed to eat. You know, this
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: is where his spot is. This is where you got
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: these tight ends, Like Mike uses the jar he's supposed
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: to eat. You gotta eat a spot up, Hey, don't
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: go to the program. The program. I mean that movie
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Lattimers an Animal Kill everybody. I watched that movie five
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: hundred times in the n love that movie, Alex anything
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: program saw you never saw the program? If you guys
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: gotta make me like a list apparently, And I'll just
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: start with Jaws and get through that maybe ten times,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: ten times or so. Jaws is much more important Jaws
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: until you know every line by heart. And then the program. Yeah,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: that's the program. You don't need to know the lines.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: What's the promise? The program? It's a college foot college
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: football team that breaks all the rules. And you know
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: they they got a steroid guy quarterback. Yeah but serious,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: the quarterback quarterback put the backup in the backup is
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: like a scumbag like it's caught cheating on a test,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: so the coach has to go to the like the
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: board and get him back there. For a football movie,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's pretty high on my list. I don't know.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: I don't know if it will pass Rudy Top five. Yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: what's the what's Remember the Titans is a great football movie.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: That's a great one too, Sunshine, Rudy, Rudy and remember
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: the Titans? I think, Yeah, all right, we're down to
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: the five yard? Is the longest yard? Run it up? Well,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: the original longest yard is tremendous. I didn't like that
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Adam san LUI did. Chris Rock was so funny. No,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I didn't see I didn't see either of them. Oh
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I'm wae breaking up. So Sean Wade showing up a
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: little bit today, would you say that's good? I would say,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: And I think he needed to, because I think that
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: was a point of conversation a lot of people you
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: talked to of he's out there, but he's he doing anything,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: so good for him, you know, good for him. Kind
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: of came late in camp, but we didn't really even
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: get a chance to watch him play it all last year.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I think he came in after they had already closed
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: training camp. So he was behind the scenes all year
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: working and you didn't really know what you had. I
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: know he was very highly regarded coming out of Ohio State.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: After his junior year, I think he didn't have a
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: great Seattle last last Blacks and he switched from slot
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: outside and all that stuff. And that's that's a p
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: I c K for for Doug. Was it Dug? I
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: don't know. I don't think it's done to one. At
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: that time, Phillips was able to get underneath John who Yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I would have been it would have been nice for Dugger.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: That was just you know, that was from Zappy as well.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: So the throw I thought was a little short. So
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: weren't really happy with Zappy Hull. I don't think Zappy
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: was happy with his At least he didn't have to
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: take a lab resulty. We'll be here awful week, folks. Yeah,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: and I apologize for that Kwedix stylings. This is what
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: happens when Fred's not here. It's like my house, my
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: wife's been away for like three days. I have a
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: two offensive players just collide and that's how you get
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: a concussion and training campus that Henry yeah, Henry's a
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: little shaken up. Yeah, I hope he's all right there. Yeah,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: he looks like he's like It's amazing to me when
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: I think about it. I was standing next to Hunter
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Henry two days ago and just being like, what a
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: giant human being, Like, like the force that it takes
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: to like make that guy recoil like he just did.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: It's like these people they're just there're another breed of
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: human being. The size of these guys despite the qute
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: tip hat. Yeah, I know. I mean, it would be
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: kind of ironic that he's like, man, he didn't have
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: an ad on and Henry's like, right, my head's killing.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: The qute tips saved me today. Yeah, that was not ideal.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: My guess is Wilkerson did not run the proper route
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: because you shouldn't. You know, you're not supposed to have
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: two guys running. You have two guys colliding underneath the
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: goal post. I got a lot of that on my
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: flag football team, and my my coaching point Paul was, guys,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: you're gonna think about slapping left hands. Slap left hands.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: That was you know, my I don't know if that
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: if that works, but slapping left you know, you think
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: about when you're crossing, think about that's you're in a
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: left hand you know. Okay, I never heard that term.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I know. Well, I'm an innovator of the game, Paul.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: So that was my on the spot. That was my
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: only coaching point. I mean, while Tory Brown was, you know,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: drawn up full plays for his team. Slap left hands.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: That was my probably why we lost. But I digress.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I can't you slap right here, because then that would
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: confuse everyone. You just gotta pick one, all right, we're
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: getting into Uh mightbe it might be some. I don't
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: if it's gonna be eleven on eleven because it looks
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: like defenders got looks like some looks like some scout
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: work first, because it doesn't look like there's a regular
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: defense there. But um, grab your bin. Yeah, please see something.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: And uh, while we're observing list, let's let's jump to
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the phones real quick. Al in Jacksonville, Al, you were
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: on the training camp. Dang parties over there grinning at
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: me with with that one. Sorry, that's my fault if
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: I if I kept you helding on helding on. Um, Yeah,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: we still have ferns at center, by the way, not
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: David Andrews as of yet, as he's working his way back.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: So it's the same offensive line we've had with Trent Brown,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: h Cole Strange Ferns when you and Isaiah went from
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: left her right on your radio dial again time on
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: company K Comery working out of the slot in motion
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: direct snap to Jones does not break his finger on
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: this one. Pitched to Stevenson looking to pick his hole.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: It's outside big Trent Brown and is able to outrun
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Cody Davis to the end zone. Now that touchdown, I mean,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: that's a player touchdown is brought to you by optim
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: What was that? That was good? Yeah? I felt like
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: I was. I have to I have to practice the
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: preseason games the corner and Paul, what can't fans expect
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: during the preseason games from you and the Bob's Discount
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Furniture Studio this year? What kind of cutting edge announces
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: are you looking to provide? And those important you know,
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: all the witty little anecdotes that I tell during the
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: course of these pu you know hits when we talk
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: about like Josh Bledsoe and Kyle Dugger, expect to see
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: some of those regurgitated on the preseason broadcasts. Yeah, you know, Zoe,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: that's something we saw a lot of in camp. That's
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: a big one for me. That's a big one for me,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: you know, and we saw that in practice. So if
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: you remember, so you know what I wanted to talk
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: about too, and you actually bring up something, you know,
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: quss I serious that I wanted to to mention. Have
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: you guys noticed calling the plays in the huddle and
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: then a quick break and then like quickly to the line,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: you know, almost like like pace. Yeah, it seems like
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: they're trying to work on speed and really getting quick snap. Yeah,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: because that was something that was brought to my attention
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: yesterday that I hadn't really noticed now, so see like
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: I don't see it there like it just to me,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: that's just a regular standard call to play in the huddle,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: break the huddle, get to the line, get set, get
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: a guy in motion, make it make a check. In
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: this particular case, obviously Mac is alert, making some sort
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: of audible and now he's adjusting the protection he wants
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: born to come back and into the slot. Like, I
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: don't think there was anything out of the ordinary with that.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: That looks to me like the way most teams run
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: in most plays. Yeah, right, yesterday, I guess they were
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: getting out of the huddle really quickly into formation. I
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: don't know if that was because of the red zone
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: players they were trying to run or right. You know,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: i'd have to see it on the live like down
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: and distant stuff, you know, when Bill's like putting the
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: ball down third and twelve, you know, and all right,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: and then they complete a play, all right, second is
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: you know, those kind of things. That's where I feel
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: like that that stuff comes out. But I haven't really
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: felt like they've had like a live continuation between plays.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: It's kind of run a play, go back and talk
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: about it, talk about it, talk about yourself. So I
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: feel like Dave one, it was a little quicker than
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: yesterday and today. You know. Another thing too, just to
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: point out Paul that I've seen some of the beat
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: writers down there pointing out which I'm not sure where
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: exactly they're saying it, but Pierre Strong kind of limited
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: through the first few days, and I noticed we haven't
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: really seen him do too much of anything. Granted, Harris
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: is on the other field working with the kind of
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: second group. I noticed that people have been writing that,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: but like, but we haven't really seen him do. And
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I also don't know, like because he's not getting a
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: lot of carries that mean he's limited physically, yeah, or
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: like he's just not ready to get a lot of
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: carries like that's Those are the kind of things that
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: sometimes I stay away from because I don't know, I
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe they have some information. That's just something
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: for people wondering, Hey, you haven't mentioned Pierre Strong or
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: really Kevin Harris either for that matter. I mean, he
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: has been doing some reps and those kind of things
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: with kind of the B group, but that's hard, too
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: hard to keep track of everybody, and I mean certainly
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: the defensive line, an offensive line. He's just this stage
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: of the game, there's not not much he can really tell.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: But so this is um dracha down here, right? Is that? Yeah?
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: So we got the kind of the is that Sam
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Sam Roberts fifty nine yep? Next to him? Yep? Interesting? Yeah,
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Sam Robert said, Now that was one of my guys,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: small school, but one of those countries. Strong was as
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: his as his coach described into me, just a big
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: man strength but had you know, again, had had technique issues. Thing.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: You know, he's gonna have to learn to play at
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: the NFL level with the jump he's trying to make
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: from me, you can learn to southwest. That's big. It's big. No,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: I haven't had to do it at all during during
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: camp so far. But I'm going to reach into this
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: bag and go for my second diet pepsi of practice.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: Good for you. I mean we've already been on the
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: air for an Those are little pepsi's compared to the
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: two leaders series usually usually though, that's good. He's ingredient.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: I had half of a two leader one, although I
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: will say since I've been home from Maine by myself, yeah,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: your wife's not home. I definitely that's pretty much taken
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: taking care of a full two leader by myself. I
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: thought you'd have one of those hats with the two,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: you know, just the straw coming down. Yes, I have
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: to think about it. So the beer captors the Diet
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: had a nice round of golf yesterday too, guy Yeah, yeah,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: hitting him straight. Yeah, it was two over. Wow. My
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: brother in law was one over and he missed a
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: putt on the ninth hole that would have had him
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: even park watching the four birdies he had. Well, I
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: feel like I could document the Parilo Golf Season twenty
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: twenty two. Strong start, tough metal but but maybe maybe
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: a resurgence here and a late summer, a lot of
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: inconsistencies unfortunately training camp eating into the into the time
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: on the links for Paul, but hopefully his pursuit of
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: excellence continues. Yeah, yeah, it was tough yesterday too. We
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: were on the third hole and almost got hit from
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: someone off the first team. Really really an unprecedentedly bad
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: shot that some guy hit in our general vicinity? Did
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: you give him like a come on? Or what are
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: we doing here? We really like stunted, like where did
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: that come from? And then we're like looking like I
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: can't even be ad up the guy. The guy so
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: far away, how did you know we were even here?
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: They hit or the Llama. It happened to me and
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Turro the week of the fourth, playing at Turro Highlands,
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: and these guys were like upset that they had to
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: wait for our foursome. It was kind of packed the
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: week of the fourth and it's like, okay, we're gonna
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: let them go, but then it was so packed We're
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: like no, it's there's no point and then they ended
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: up sucking and we're like, what's your problem, man, We're
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: better at all than all of you. I love churros turo.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: They're great. Turros are crawlers. I got introduced to churros
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: down at Disney World when I was a kid, and
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: I must say eight about twelve or those five dollars
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: churros or whatever they are now, I got introduced at Costco.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: I'm sure Costco Food Court. No, I don't like the
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: charos with the filling in the middle art. I don't
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: want that. I don't want that like custard in the
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: middle of And I know we don't have the the
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: video portion going right now, but really, in all seriousness,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: there's absolutely nothing going on. They're in between some periods
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: here of the offense and defense looked like they wanted
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: the respective sidelines. Were probably gonna get some full team
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: work shortly. But you know, you know, our Turo talk
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: is not necessarily nor preventing us from giving you any
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: updates because nothing is going on at the mac Jones
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: isn't complete ninety yard, you know, completion the Taekwon Thornton
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: as we're talking Turo Turo deep dive. But here we
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: go looks like we're getting some eleven on eleven. So
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: now we got Lawrence Guy, Henry Anderson and and God
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: shout up front right Yeah, and it looks like Mattie
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: p is the one with Dilwaukee talkie right now, so
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: the dance continues. You got same Yeah, Bentley and um
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: McMillan on the inside and three safeties Phillips, Mitchell, Uh sorry, Phillips,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Dugger and Bledsoe and uh yeah, Mitchell and Mills on
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: the outside as has as has been the case here
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: through camp early on. But Henry Anderson again getting a
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: look down there with Dietrich wise out, so you under
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: you know what his spots like is he can he
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: push to make some kind of impact on this? Yeah,
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: And it's it is funny, like what do you exact
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: what do you call it? Is it like a three?
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: You know, like I don't know, like a three three five?
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: You know, uh yeah, yeah, I mean yeah, three three
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: five you know, saties. I mean, you don't really have
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: a slot covering Myers right now, so you're kind of
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: playing it that that's probably as base as you're gonna
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: get defensively. Yeah, but it's you know, last year they
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: went really I mean the two biggest personnel packages they
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: played were three safety and three corner. Uh so it's
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: it's kind of a continuation of that. But it looks
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: like Marcus Jones is getting more opportunities first in the
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: slot today than interesting because I thought Wade came in
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: sort of with the second group the first time around,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: and now he just came in. Um, there's part of
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: this package with Boche, you know, more of a sub
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: kind of look. Yeah, so this is like a quale
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: and yeah really just Barmore. This is kind of a
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: pass rush package here with with Oocha and Barmore and
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: with the sack right. Not a nice catch for Myers though,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: So I mean, that's a good good day for Myers
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: getting some some action. He's been more active. Nice jump
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: up celebration from KB on Myers. So good to see
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: him get some looks. But again, they're about the fifteen
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: yard line right now. Continuing. I don't know if this
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: is quite the high red zone high red like the
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: mid high red zone, the high red zone looks That's
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: what I'm going with. I should text Andy he'll stop laughing.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: But you know, it's just illustrates even with mccordy out
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you've got, you know, two veteran safeties on the back end. Um,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: so yeah, Marcus Jones in the slot, Bentley kind of
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: the run Stuffers up front. It's Max's calling out signals.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: It's lost it to the end zone. KB. Oh, couldn't
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: hang on to it. That was Jayalen Mills in coverage.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Nice throw by Mac. Hit warn't had to lay out
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: for it, but I just couldn't, couldn't hang on through
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: the ground. One was there. I thought that one, unlike
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: the one they called a drop yesterday. I thought this one, yeah,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: probably should have been caught. It's right there, get threw
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: by Mac and uh now they're kind of pushing the
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: pace a little bit, going right, kind of back into it.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: So same grouping. Well this was no huddle right quick?
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah he was. Maybe Mac does have a little
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: of that Tom Brady and those deflections that never seemed
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: to get picked off. Yeah, lucky there trying to hit
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Myers again on the crosser. I do wonder with these things,
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: if it's like, you know, hey, chick, Kobe, let's get
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: you some let's get you some let's get you some passage,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: it's absolutely as part of it, like let's focus on it,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: like you're telling me that all of a sudden, one
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: of those days and OTA's in the spring. It just
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: so happened that Trey Nixon caught like four passes, you
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like that's something buddy that he
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: drove with every day. Know what they go into it.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: It was this my boy d Mac down here, yeah here,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Okay, there we go. Okay, there you go.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Just got done with his hit on Good Morning Football. Sorry,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: are we sure that's d or Jay? It could be Jay?
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm just I probably make mention of the
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: fact that we didn't see him for a while. Maybe
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: he went on NFL network. So we got him back.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: We got Carl Davis Barmore up front, we got zappy backs.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Have we seen tight coverage to a nice little shake
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: by Wilkerson Will Coerson. So so that was Amphony Jennings,
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: you know, paul a name. I don't think we have
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: said once in three years in three days. I would
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: go as far as say three years in two years.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Ronnie Perkins. Yeah, I haven't seen really,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: haven't seen him in the mix really on anything good point,
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: which is uh, you know, surprising you just saw Ouch
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and Jennings out there and that was Jack Jones and
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: coverage by the way on that Wilkerson play, and I
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: didn't think it was very good coverage. Yeah, got shuck loose.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: Now we got Zappy's still in there. Back to past
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: throwing a time Montgomery in the corner of the end zone. Oh,
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: I couldn't hang on, hang on. Oh he did that.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: That was a glove that came off. Yeah, it was
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: a nice catch by Montgomery and a nice throw by
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: Zappy that was coming. Really well well done all around.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: They have Montgomery really doing everything. Yeah, they knew he
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: was gonna be versatile, but every like like I said,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: as opposed to the fact that he's been like a
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: running back that where's eighty eight, like, you know, throwout
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: his career. He could just do it all. It's like,
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: I mean, the second and wide receiver running back gets hurt.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: It's hard not to just say time mont Coompany could
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: probably help fill that void. All right, Zappy's still in there.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: It's a continue work eleven on eleven's coming from the
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: fifteen yard line. D Mack no helmet walking on the
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: back line, Zappy back to pass gets it out quick season.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: I think he's gonna he's got a little something, yeah,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: little mac and a little little get it out quick,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I think. But I think he I think he has
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: some zip on the wall. Not to do the zapp.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: That wasn't That wasn't the intention at on that particular one.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: It wasn't the pun intenders, do you intend? Do you
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: intend that pun? Well? Shout out to Eric Scalavina with
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: the pun that that pun was boxed to you by
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: So in case anybody dot com, In case anybody's wondering,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: I did hear from from Estcal Yeah, earlier this week.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I hadn't really heard from him at all since he
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: since he left, and he was checking out my well
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: being for a different reason that you guys probably can
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: figure out what I won't necessarily say it on the air.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: He was he was really worried about me, and when
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: he heard about something, Yeah, yeah, he uh, he reached
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: out to me as well. Yeah, talk to talk to
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: e scalt. Good to hear from him. I miss him.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Had a lot of laughs, especially that throw was was
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: a little off. Is that my boy, Harris? Yep? That
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: was here. The size of those legs, Yeah, yeah, it's
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: like Marcus du pretty back in the day, Alex again
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: what yeah, huh but yeah, what what? What fun we
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: had with Scal Especially when we get off the radio
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: we're watching training camp practice, they tend to get a
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: little bit slow. Nobody uh, nobody brought the laughs like
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Scal his impressions and all that. It was, Wow, is
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: that what we're going with? No one brought the laughs
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: like Scale he did the impressions. Yeah, you know, sneak
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: out with the backside, what have you those che scale
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: of different comedic moments. Super excited to go of my
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: best of abilities. My best of abilities is the greatest,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: the greatest bronchism of all time. To the best of
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: my abilities. Hey, Ronnie Perkins is out there, so let's uh,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: let's so there's that. Yeah, so we you know, it's this.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: Does he look thinner too? He looks small to me,
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: And and I didn't think he looks small coming out.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: He looked like a pretty stout kind of I wonder
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: they're trying to like say, get off the line and
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: be one of those, yeah, you know, sort of quasi
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: linebacker types. And I don't, I don't know, he looks
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: he looks thin to me. Yeah, but I mean he's
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: out there with getting close to the bottom of the
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: barrel hair. Oh, that's that's that's that's not what we're
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: looking for. In Patriots dot Com Radio, Mic mac Jones
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: back to pass, pick right, Mills, Mills. He just stopped
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: and Mac and we got the first the first twenty
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: twenty one camp look of Mac right there. He's a
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: little disgusted with himself. I pad slapper. Now. My guess
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: is there was something significantly wrong because myers broke out
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: and he threw it directly to Mills. It wasn't like
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: it was a bad Mills alone. Yeah, he threw it
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: directly to Jalen Mills, who was no one around him.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Y was thrown too. Well, they do all have the
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: same helmets, and you know that's did he have the
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: pads on? He did that? I mean it was it
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: almost took him a second to like re I guess
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: when it's thrown right into your gut. Yeah, there was
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: no way that he could drop that one. I'm not
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: a not a not a great one To end it
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: on is Nick Folk is beginning the field goal portion.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: I wonder if this, uh, don't tease me. We're having
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: an interstitial here or if we're actually starting to wind
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: things up. But well, my son's at it again. Oh god,
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna kill him. Can you bring some money up
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: when you come. He did find his wallet, that I
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: tell you guys. They lost this wallet and the security
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: found it, but my wife had already canceled the debit
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: cops or now he has no access to money. Good kids, beauty,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: the kids, beautiful. SI. I don't know what you need
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: money for you at a lakehouse? You're you're not You're
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: not going anywhere. Yeah, I mean you can just find
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: someone to make a packy run for him. Yeah, or
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: you could just call call Ubery's. I heard that that's
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: a really great let's service to get food whenever you
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: need it. Man, Stop talking about my personal life with you, guys.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Over a thousand dollars he spent in Uber eats, God
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: to it in one month. One in one month. That's
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: my two boys. Uber eats. Nothing says, I want food,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: but I don't want to make it or buy it
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: or do anything, dear boys. Single hand stock alive, unbelievable. Well,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: you know. Patriots Content digital content manager Christopherrera weighing in
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: here on web radios email on on the churro talk
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: because you just want to point out Ancelidos here at
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Patriot Place has wonderful curro. So if you are down
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: here to catch a practice, take a swing over to Ancilido's.
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: Grab a burrito, grab a turro. They also have great
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Uh horchata? You grab a horchata? Is that the second
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: field goal for? Oh? It's your football going on? Ye? Yeah,
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: I'm trying. I'm okay, some of us have to cover practice. Sorry.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: I thought about horchata and I went side by six,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: so let's call it forty six. So really quite the
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: turnout today. I packed. I you know, this hill here
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: and the bleachers even its mobbed, and you know you
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: could still probably squeeze a seed in somewhere. But but
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: good about tomorrow. I think if you're coming down to
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: practice on Saturday, I would I would say get here
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: early and bring your sun covering your sun's screen. That's
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: that's the only thing that can be tough about it
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: out here. There's not a lot of shade. Uh. If
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: you get here early, you might grab a spot under
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: one of the trees. Those are valuable places. Yeah, that
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: real estate went quick today. Yeah, that was. I was
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: out here at eight am and it was already not
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: even a little patch yet. Jake Bailey back doing some
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: holding too, Nick Folk, that's about a fifty yard or
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: rights just made it look. Yeah, that was about the
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: How long was the Tampa one? Fifty six? That wouldn't
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: have made fifty six? It was also you know, driving rain?
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Is that weather? Does that count as a weather game? No?
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: That was early, but the weather was not conducive to anything.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: It was. It was warm though. There's nothing better on
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: the premium post game show than we get into the
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: nitty gritty of what a weather game is. And well,
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: that Buffalo game didn't really I didn't think the hard
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: stuff was going to come down for a few hours.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: That one was about fifteen fifty five or so fifty four.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: I think these are the big things for Folk too,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: because I mean, I don't know kicking that well against
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: something Scow would would have been able to weigh him.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: He didn't know either. I imagine as you get older
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: that the distances is, you know, gonna all of a
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: sudden you don't really realize it exactly right. I noticed
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: you get the new shades today after you broke so
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: now I have the purple I got the purple freebees
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: that I took from the from the break room. This
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: is what it's come to. The purple freebees from the breakroom. Nobody.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: I don't even know was that next to the popcorn.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: My wife act, she's because it's shades for Migrain dot
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: Org are the sponsors. She's like, oh, you know, are you?
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Are you for that? And I'm like, of course I'm
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: against Migraine. So do you guys feel like there's more
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: like Patriots personnel in between the fields today than it
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: has been a little bit, A little bit I don't know.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: If I don't know if the scout mac Row, I
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: can spot I can spot the long, lean frame of
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: mac Grow usually Okay, don't see him though. All right,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: So we got a little bit more, a little a
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: little more team offense going on down the far end.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Still in the high red zone, high ish red zone. Um,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: but now they're going to be going away from us,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: which is unfortunate. I don't like that. I thought the
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: defense was pretty solid again today and some of that
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: red zone work. There was more completions than yesterday, obviously,
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: but the ones that got were like close. It wasn't
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: like well easy peas I thought the defense was good. Again,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: I have no idea what happened on that last throw
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: with with Mac and Myers though, yeah, miscommunication. I think
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: Myers is supposed to ooh Parker over metal Narker one
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: of the call not in bounds though no according to
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: the colledgeow I believe uh and and there's not really
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: any celebration going on offensively, so my guess as Parker
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: was out of bounds. But again a lot of this
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: knows again yet a lot of throwing it up and
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: a lot of throwing up to the corner of the
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: end zone and seeing that over the last few days,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: I mean, so many of the touchdowns that they've connected
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: or missed on have all been dropped back and put
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: the fade up, let the receiver go get it. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Hunter Henry back out there though. That's a good sign
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: after his collision, So no worse for wear as they say,
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: and we've got Max going again. Love it on eleven,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: I mean again bled sew out there, you know, hitting
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: it's just a little flare out to Janu, but caught it. Yeah.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: In a productive day for Jano, I think, I think
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: he's made the plays when he's had an opportunities. It's
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: all you can do. Pull, that's all you and that's
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: all you can do. You can't make playce when they
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: don't throw it too. But you know, I just I
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: think it's I mean, everybody probably is well aware of
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: it now, but but Bledsoe is just consistently working in
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: with with top reps everywhere you go. So, all right,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Matt cliding up, got Aglare and Henry out to the right,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: Johnny and Jacobe to the left, Stevenson in the backfield,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: they're going from the from the ten. Matt I wanted
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: to throw it. No, he's gonna tuck it, and he
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: scampered in for the touchdown. The only thing missing theil
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: was the gritty Yeah. Yeah, too close. You know, you
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: need like the full seventy yard run to be able
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: to Yeah. The defense is definitely um getting better. Yeah,
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: you know, I think um once once born and Parker
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: sort of laid down the gauntlet boat halfway through the
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: first day. I think the defense has gotten the better things.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: I'd agree, But do you find Paul, over your many
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: years of experience watching Trainey camp, that defenses tend to
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: start out ahead of the offense. I mean, of course
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: he had Tom Brady here. I'm sure it's hard. That's
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: exactly like you know, like like the ball literally never
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: hit the ground when Brady was here. Yeah, us a
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: good Yeah, there's a good play. I think he caught it.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: I think he caught it Hunter Henry Henry catching over,
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Kyle Dugger excited about it. Yeah, that was That was
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: a good fade um from from Mac to Henry. His
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: favorite red zone target from a year ago, Dougger. Tugger
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: can't be happy with this day. I don't know how
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: much he's gonna get negative attention for. It's three tds
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: that I can remember off the top of my head
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: to tight ends. But again another you know, just throw
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: it up and let him go up and get it.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: I mean, hey, do you not like that? I don't
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: like it either. I don't really like it. I mean,
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: I'd love to much rather see things in rhythm and
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: catching run. It's just been so many attempts, like contested
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: catches down the field. I just feel like you always
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: run the risk of a turnover a place like that
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: because you can't know when you throw it if the
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: guy has gotten any separation, yeah, or if he's in
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: position again. We got Bill right behind the huddle. I'm
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: not sure who's got the walkie talkie at this moment,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: but Mattie PE's over there too, Joe Judge behind him.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: So we get Zappy in there now, quick throw. Nice,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: that's a good that's it seemed like that might have
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: been a little bit of a blood kind of a
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: low snap too, and he still got it off. Yeah,
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: that seemed like kind of a hot read. Just get
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: it out to to Myers. And nice job by him
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: anticipating some of the pressure that was coming in. So
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm happy that Zapp he's getting this work.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Jesus, I really didn't mean to walk like that,
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: but yeah, I don't see a walkie hockey at the moment,
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: and I see Bill talking to the quarterbacks when he's
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: given the play. Bill. Probably Bill probably threw the waukie
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: talkie off the bench, you know, because it wasn't working properly.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: It's Eppie back for another one. Oh that's a pick.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: That's a pick that was a little behind twenty something?
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: Is it Wade? No, I can't tell him. Oh please,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: it's Bethel Justin Bethel um and the one negative I
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: would say, I thought the previous play it was a
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: quick slant and he did get the ball out really fast.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: I thought it was a little on the back hip
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: just a little slightly, and that one's a little bit
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: slightly behind and that allowed the past to get defended
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: this time and Bethel with the pick. Yeah, I think
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: the defense continues. Yeah again though you know it's Thornton,
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: like every every pass they throw at him is like
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: a contested catch, right, that was the middle Yeah on
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: that play. Yeah, yeah, I wonder I got another developing opinion.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Save it Forraff of the clay zappy back to pass. Oh,
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: protection breaks down and yeah, so I noticed over here
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: when they were doing some of the one on one
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: stuff and we were kind of watching the receivers try
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: to get off press, they had Bethel, Justin Bethel on him.
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: I can't imagine, given his special team's prowess, there's a
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: better guy on pressing getting my hands on a guy.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: I wonder if it's intentional that they're like, you know
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: what you're gonna go against Justin Bethel on these plays
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: as often as you can to try to give Thornton.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: I don't know the best tests that he can get
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: it in this kind of environment. I throw Butler in
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: there too. I mean, I don't know how much, but
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: that's how you get too about two thousand words of nonsense.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: You know that might have absolutely nothing to do with
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: anything that they did. Well, it does a little bit
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: with how little he is, Like, it's going to be
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: important to see how he handles contact, like right off
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: the line like that. Yeah, And I was saying, I
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: mean I don almost sto Butler in there. I mean,
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: I don't know what he's got in terms of total play,
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: but I think he's a feisty, aggressive guy on the line.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: Ye give him a similar kind of look. All right,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Max back in there. It's got Kevin Harris beside him
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: and good protection. He's throwing it up in the back
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: corner and he's out of bounced. Thornton caught it, but
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: nice to see him. It's kind of like a bend
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: it back outside route. Yeah, you wonder if the timing
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: is maybe a little bit off because of the newness. Yeah,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: I don't mean who knows chatting about it now? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: I mean, but I would be my guests. I think
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: you're right, Alex. I think Mac probably said you gotta
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: do this instead of that. Yeah, I mean it's fine.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: Just you know, Thornton, just keep getting out there, keep
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: getting your reps. I think you know, the middle of
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: the field stuff is where we can maybe get a
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: sense of him tough in the red zone, to see
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: this guy with long speed. Just get a little Marcus
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Jones's safety right now, I'll tell you, Oh, quarterbacks have
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: really been und getting moved off the spot, as they
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: say consistently, which again I think that this is part
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: of where I'm not going to give the defense as
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: much credit. I just think it's impossible to keep a
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: pass rush out, sir, for any length of time when
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: you can't hit anybody. Yeah, got no punch, punch somebody
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: in a chest. Although I wonder, you know, with the
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: with the shells on today, if you know, if that
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: enables you a little bits as an offensive lineman, Tippy
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: to give a little bit of a could be could be?
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: Could be? Could be? But yeah, that was Mac flushed
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: out and managed to find Kevin Harris. But as I
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: pointed out to Marcus Jones, playing a little little safety there,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: and then yes, I have noticed that deuce, Yeah, which
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: is like, I think, it just feels almost like what
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: they do automatically. If you're a slot corner now it's
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: that well you're gonna learn the safety position as well.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: It doesn't really seem like any of those guys, Mark Miles, Bryant,
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Jay Jones. Yeah, I think based on person all a
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: lot you sed sort of dictated it to something like that. Yeah,
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: all right, crowd getting crowd looking for something here. Yeah,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: crowd's not as uh, certainly not as active as day one.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: I thought. I thought the receivers did a good job
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: of generating some some energy and that's what it was.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: It was just the receivers having such a good day
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: and hyping them up on this side of the field,
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: all right. Matt Collinel plays Hunter Henry in the backside
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: isolated Max flushed out of the pocket again by you
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: don't and wanted them to back, and he did direct
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: them back. Oh, Parker was not happy. He's complaining about
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: a hold a push when you like push, how can
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I not get the call? Got an illegal contact on that?
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: Come on, reff, open your eyes. Yeah, these are the
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: kinds of completions that I think are going to be record.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: What did that? Mike and Paul probably would not be
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: counting there you go, right, that's and that's just pretty
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: sure NFL quarterbacks that get ten ten to twelve seconds
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: to throw, probably we'll find somebody, which is what's been
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: happening on the last several plays, right, one for one
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: for touchdown. Perfect. Yeah, all that said, I thought, Mac,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: you know, you run the play and you you go,
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: and you know he's rolling to his right, he's gesturing
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: to his receiver, you know, come off of your route,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: breakback to an open space and they end up connecting.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: I just think that those are kinds of things that
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: you don't really want to do in regular season games
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: where you're kind of you're really getting closer throwing back
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: across your body, and those are the kinds of plays
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: that don't really end well. All right, well we're switching
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: up the drills here. A lot of the offensive linemen
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: line in their helmets up on the thirty yard line
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: here in the business. Yeah, so they're wrapping up here.
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: There'd be a little, uh, little punt work here. I
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: think to end it, it's Marcus Jones back to receive.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: What are these two guys doing in the end zone.
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: It's like two guys line enough to I guess they're
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: just kind of doing a dry rep. Thornton and or
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: I guess that's Ronnie Perkins. Oh. It seems like they're
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: just in the end zone doing dry kind of watching
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: what to do and doing their own kind of reps
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: even though they're on in the drill. Thornton down on
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: Marcus Jones in a hurry. I just want to see
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: Thornton tackle somebody. Wornton getting some work as a gunner,
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: which we saw a little bit in the spring if
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: you recall, Yeah, you should be able to get down
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: there in a hurry. All right, another rep for Jake Bailey,
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: mean Jake, Jake. Remember on our left side. It seems
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: kind of a lot of the regular offense and defense
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: guys but no helmets on, just kind of maybe doing
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: some walk through stuff. It's kind of a weird knuckleball.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Trey Nixon got the catch the punt. It's probably not
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: too long, probably head for the hills. Everybody's favorite part practice, well,
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: my favorite part. We're just close kind to eat well, guys,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: as we're I guess starting to wrap things up here.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: What are your what are your big takeaways here from
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: from day three. I'll let you guys go first. I
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: didn't have a lot of great takeaways. Yeah, I would
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: just say probably nice day for John Oh, a couple
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: of nice catches, nice day for Jakobe Myers, just getting
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: to be a little bit more active and maybe shown
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: get showing up a little bit. But yeah, I would
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: agree overall continued assessments that J. J. Taylor don't blood soda,
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: but maybe he didn't make as many plays today, but
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: continues to be involved with with with a lot of
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: the top groups, and luckily Hunter Henry may be avoided
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: some injury, but otherwise probably felt a little bit of
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: an extension yesterday with the with the defense kind of
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: kind of carrying the play. But again, just a lot
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: of the offense trying the fades to the end zone,
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: fades to the corner of the end zone, a lot
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: of those plays being run. Um. I guess we'll see
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: how things evolve in the next couple of days if
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: they opened things up a little bit. But that's been
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: my takeaway. What about you, Alex? Yeah, um, again, I
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: think the defense really played well again today and a
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: lot of pressure and not really a lot of signature moments.
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: I felt the first couple of days you had a
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: couple of signature catch moments that got the crowd into it,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: and you felt like maybe maybe the John John Smith
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: had a couple of high pointers that I thought, um
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: were a little bit you know, out of the ordinary.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: But I agree with you guys overall that the defense
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: was better, um, and they weren't a lot of you know,
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: really eye popping signature kind of moments. But again, this
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: is now three straight days no pads. It's it's got
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: to be hard for them too. The players, Oh yeah,
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: they like they probably just want to get started now. Yeah, sure,
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: you know, And I think some of the CBA stuff
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: I think is a little bit sort of constricting. Yeah.
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: It's really the the sport that you can't just hop
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: into it. I mean, basketball, baseball, hockey. When they get going,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: you're just playing the sport. There's never like, well, the
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: hockey team's gonna come up, but they're not gonna wear
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: pads today. They're just like and I don't really get
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: like rookies and injured players and quarterbacks all reported last week,
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: so now the rest of the team reports earlier this week,
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: Like how long has the acclamation period. Gotta be why
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: can't that count as the acclamation period? So I don't know.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Back in my day, we used to just jump in
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: with two feet, let's go sessions. Back in my day, well,
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: a lot of standing around. I think we'll probably probably
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: put a cap on on today's show, unless you think
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: it's gonna suddenly turn. It seems like everybody's got their
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: helmets off. Let's see if we can wait till the
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: end of this punting yeah, portion, just to make sure
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: that there's nothing do I agree with you, but just
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: in case something happens, we want to make sure we're yeah,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: we were able to do it. Some sound comes on
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: and they start notice an knuckleball from Jake Julian. He's
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: not happy with himself. It's probably you know, as a
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: Jake punter's still in second place. J J. Taylor, he's
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: another one preseason Darling. I'm sure he'll put on a
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: show yet again, will it be enough to crack the
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: line up till this year with reinforcement? I like the
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: whole James White situation there, Um, it's going to be
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: telling Like if James White is part of the equation,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I don't see there's any room because time Ont Garment
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: is going to be here. I gotta think that they're
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: gonna find a way to keep the two rookie running
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: backs the draft picks Harrison and Strong. I just don't
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: know how much room there is for how many running backs?
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: You know you can keep more than five? Yeah, so
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: why Yeah, if James White is here, I don't I
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: don't think that j J. Taylor will be Now, maybe
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: James White starts on pup that was that was a boomer,
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: that was little better on that one's markets Jones opening
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: up the open up the speed a little bit. Let's
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: see a little bit of his quickness. All yeah, I mean,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: I guess this is going to be This is going
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: to be the end if you want to sign it off. Yeah,
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: there's a lot of meandering going on down on the
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: field right now. It feels like everybody's now they're playing soccer.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: What is going on? Kendrick Bourne and Damian Harris looked
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: like they're working on their World Cup skills up the field. Well,
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: I think that's going to do it for us. Be
