- 0:00Speaker 1: Mister New York here's more marksimone on seven ten WR.
- 0:06Speaker 1: All right, we're learning more about the Rob Reiner situation.
- 0:09Speaker 1: The police have not yet held their press comp so
- 0:12Speaker 1: they not absolutely confirmed. But remember we told you last
- 0:19Speaker 1: hour they have arrested the Sun. They did take the
- 0:21Speaker 1: Sun into custody. Well now they've charged him. They've officially
- 0:24Speaker 1: charged him. Hasn't really been announce shit, but they've charged
- 0:27Speaker 1: him and there's a four million dollar bail on him.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now this is Sunday, yesterday. This is terrible stabbing. The
- 0:35Speaker 1: night before Saturday night there was a big Conan O'Brien
- 0:38Speaker 1: Christmas party. Rob Reiner and his wife were there, and
- 0:41Speaker 1: somehow the son Nick was there, and apparently they got
- 0:44Speaker 1: into a loud, loud, vicious argument at the party that
- 0:50Speaker 1: got very loud and out of control, so much so
- 0:52Speaker 1: that Rob Reiner and his wife left the party. So
- 0:56Speaker 1: that's Saturday night and it looks like the Sun came
- 0:59Speaker 1: to the house and again a loud loud argument. Uh
- 1:05Speaker 1: and Reiner's daughter was living in the guest house. Apparently
- 1:10Speaker 1: she heard the argument and then at some point later
- 1:13Speaker 1: went over to check on them, found them dead. Called police.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Told police about the Sun. So here's the latest though
- 1:20Speaker 1: he is he has been charged apparently, and there's a
- 1:22Speaker 1: four million dollar bail. Let's take some calls. Let's go
- 1:26Speaker 1: to Brian, Greenwich, Connecticut. Brian, how you doing?
- 1:30Speaker 2: Hey, Hey, Mark, good morning, First first time I ever
- 1:33Speaker 2: called in here, and I love you. We've met a
- 1:35Speaker 2: few times over the years.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Where we meet.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We met up with.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Sal scal very fine restaurant in Greenwich, Connecticut, right there
- 1:44Speaker 1: on the water. David Fletcher, the manager.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Excellent guy, great guy, super nice guy. I actually took
- 1:51Speaker 2: my girlfriend for her birthday party there. But real quick.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So Wegmans is actually from Rochester, New York. Mark, Okay, yep, Danny,
- 2:02Speaker 2: Danny Wegman. When I left the Waldorf in the Tavern
- 2:05Speaker 2: on the Green in twenty one club, I met Danny
- 2:08Speaker 2: Wegman through through a relative and we started off premise
- 2:13Speaker 2: catering business with you. You remember David Bult Oh god, David,
- 2:19Speaker 2: Oh my god. The best we did.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I would parties.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Uh.
- 2:24Speaker 1: He was a great guy, but the great guys.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah you know what, he you'll admit a little nuts,
- 2:32Speaker 2: Oh good time. I was with him for three or
- 2:34Speaker 2: four years.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Very hard to have the number one highest rated New
- 2:37Speaker 1: York restaurant in New York and then be closed in
- 2:39Speaker 1: six months unless you're a little nutty.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Oh my god. But I'll leave it with this. Jim
- 2:43Speaker 2: from New Jersey is one of my best friends and
- 2:46Speaker 2: he calls in all the time. And when I heard
- 2:50Speaker 2: you mentioned Wegman's, I said, oh god.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I got to call Mark and all Right from Rochester. Hey,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you said you worked at the Waldorf.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I was director catering at the Waldorf.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Ye, Well have you seen the new Waldorf?
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm in. I'm a member of the distinguished Alumni.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And uh, I like the old war Dog walderf a
- 3:09Speaker 1: little better. What do you think?
- 3:12Speaker 2: So they had their open party in the ballroom the
- 3:14Speaker 2: night before our dinner. So it was a little bit
- 3:16Speaker 2: of a mess. And the lobby I think's really nice. Mark,
- 3:20Speaker 2: it's beautiful.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It's nat They took away a lot of stuff.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I don't think they did. You know, they took away
- 3:26Speaker 2: it went from I think it went from like fifteen
- 3:28Speaker 2: hundred keys to that to like three hundred, believe it
- 3:31Speaker 2: or not. So they're all private, you know, beautiful million,
- 3:34Speaker 2: multimillion dollar a year co ops and condos or whatever.
- 3:38Speaker 2: But but the ballroom is still the ballroom.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not that same. It was white and gold.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Now it's silver silver. It looks like a big tin
- 3:45Speaker 1: can when you're in it. The beautiful lighting's gone. They
- 3:48Speaker 1: got those led Haligen whatever they are, they're not the same.
- 3:52Speaker 2: They took the they took the chandelier at which is ridiculous.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I mean, how can you how can you do that?
- 3:57Speaker 2: But uh yeah, back in the days, forget about it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean we had so many parties there, Oh my god.
- 4:02Speaker 2: But anyway, Danny's I think Danny's daughters are now in
- 4:06Speaker 2: charge of the company and they're great, great people as well.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And uh yeah, so's father.
- 4:13Speaker 1: All right, well it's a great, great store. Thanks for Colling.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Let's go to uh Stuart in South Carolina. Stuart, how
- 4:20Speaker 1: you doing, Hey.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Mark car are you two points one? You know, I've
- 4:24Speaker 3: been in ployee office almost fifty years in the South,
- 4:27Speaker 3: in very gun friendly states. I have never worked a
- 4:31Speaker 3: home invasion, not one ever. I've never worked a car
- 4:35Speaker 3: jacket ever, because people here know is they open up
- 4:38Speaker 3: your door to your house, they're probably going to die.
- 4:40Speaker 3: If they open up the car door, they're probably going
- 4:44Speaker 3: to die. So guns, guns prevalent among people are a
- 4:49Speaker 3: real crime deterurn. And you know that criminals do not
- 4:52Speaker 3: obey gun laws. Australia and New Zealand have taken guns
- 4:55Speaker 3: away from everybody nobody.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Okay, but the South South Carolina people know how to
- 5:01Speaker 1: handle a gun. This is New York City. Yes. Can
- 5:03Speaker 1: you imagine a woman in a great neck handling a gun?
- 5:06Speaker 3: Well, maybe this is true, but if they may, he's
- 5:09Speaker 3: going to.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Open the purse. You can't even find the cod check
- 5:11Speaker 1: every thing. You know, you're going to look for a gun.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And the other point I want to make is you're
- 5:16Speaker 3: absolutely right. New York City is wonderful. South Carolina is horrible.
- 5:20Speaker 3: We have crocodiles everywhere. The humidity and the summer is
- 5:23Speaker 3: just horrible. The people are on friendly. Please New Yorkers
- 5:26Speaker 3: stay in wonderful New York City, and please don't come
- 5:29Speaker 3: to South Carolina. It's a horrible place to live.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Noah, you've been sarcastic, but yeah, I am. I'd rather
- 5:35Speaker 1: be in New.
- 5:35Speaker 3: York thirteen right now. It's what gas is two thirteen
- 5:40Speaker 3: right now.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Hey, No, but you got nowhere to go there.
- 5:45Speaker 3: We got the beach, the mountains got everywhere here. I
- 5:48Speaker 3: mean I've been I grew up in Levittown, but what
- 5:51Speaker 3: I've been down South over fifty years. I would never leave.
- 5:54Speaker 1: No, No, it's a great place. I'll stay here, but
- 5:57Speaker 1: it's a great place. Thanks for calling, Stuart. I'll actually
- 6:01Speaker 1: we don't have time. We'll take some more calls tomorrow
- 6:03Speaker 1: because I want to get to a Steve Cuzo. He's
- 6:05Speaker 1: the expert on New York, on real estate, on restaurants,
