- 0:31Speaker 3: Oh my god, fuck me up. yes stab me with
- 0:35Speaker 3: a fork oh anyway hi welcome to book watchers where
- 0:42Speaker 3: jacob is learning how to be.
- 0:47Speaker 1: How to cook how to cook like his ancestors.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And where Devin is like always having technical issues.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You know what? Okay. Okay.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Y'all those episodes are not going to show up until
- 1:02Speaker 3: probably November, but I thought I fucked up real bad
- 1:05Speaker 3: on two episodes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:06Speaker 3: I thought it was recording my audio, but it wasn't.
- 1:09Speaker 3: So you just hear Jacob looking psycho talking to somebody
- 1:11Speaker 3: who's not responding. So I'm going to do some fucking
- 1:18Speaker 3: lucky shit, but Y'all go and get those episodes. It's
- 1:23Speaker 3: going to be more centered on, it's going to be
- 1:25Speaker 3: introducing and then jump into a cutted version of the
- 1:30Speaker 3: episode with Jacob talking about the book he's talking about.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Because for whatever.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Reason, it decided not to want to record me because
- 1:38Speaker 3: I changed the settings and I didn't realize I changed
- 1:40Speaker 3: the settings.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I seriously thought he had lost all of our audio,
- 1:45Speaker 2: which wouldn't be the first time.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You're right. It wouldn't be the first time. You're right.
- 1:52Speaker 2: It was like what we literally lost the entire tales
- 1:54Speaker 2: of Varania.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We did. We did. We did. And I was very upset.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I was very upset at that.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I was, I love those books and we're probably have
- 2:02Speaker 2: to come back and re like rerecord them. But I
- 2:04Speaker 2: was like, I'm not doing that. I'm not doing that
- 2:06Speaker 2: shit again. We spent so much time on those books.
- 2:08Speaker 1: We did.
- 2:09Speaker 2: But anyway, eventually we'll go back and re and rerecord
- 2:15Speaker 2: TJ Clunes tales of Varania. Because I love those books.
- 2:19Speaker 2: They were campy. They were cute. They were funny as hell.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And they're super gay. And I loved it. Devin is
- 2:27Speaker 2: a gay hornless unicorn.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Love Gary. Love Gary. Queen. Iconic. Legend. My spirit animal.
- 2:39Speaker 2: We're not here to talk about gay iconic spirit animals.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Today we're here to talk about gay iconic horror novels.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Well, yeah, but if you look in the description below,
- 2:47Speaker 3: you'll see a link to the other podcast shows. All
- 2:49Speaker 3: that fun stuff will be in the description below. Happy
- 2:51Speaker 3: October at the time of this posting. But yeah, the
- 2:54Speaker 3: first book we're talking about today is what? So there's
- 2:56Speaker 3: going to be five episodes this month. We're splitting it
- 2:59Speaker 3: up where there'll be two episodes from us each and
- 3:05Speaker 3: then one episode where we'll figure out what we're going
- 3:07Speaker 3: to do for that.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But regardless, what book are you talking about today?
- 3:13Speaker 2: So the first book I read for, uh, for spoopy
- 3:16Speaker 2: season is board gay werewolf.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Let me fucking tell you something, y'all. This book fits
- 3:21Speaker 1: him so perfectly. So perfectly.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And it's, it's way told me about it. I'm like,
- 3:28Speaker 3: this book was made for you. This book was made
- 3:30Speaker 3: for him. Ladies and gentlemen, his boyfriend even coming.
- 3:32Speaker 2: And my boyfriend was the one who convinced me. My,
- 3:37Speaker 2: we saw this at bar this cause I got the
- 3:39Speaker 2: physical copy.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And I, So this is Bored Gay Werewolf by Tony Santorella.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And we saw this at Barnes & Noble. And I
- 3:50Speaker 2: pulled it out. I was like, oh, are you serious?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Are they really selling this book here? Because I saw
- 3:55Speaker 2: it on Amazon, but I didn't think they were actually
- 3:57Speaker 2: going to have it at Barnes & Noble. And he
- 4:01Speaker 2: looked at me and was like, you have to get it, honey.
- 4:04Speaker 2: That book was made for you. And I was like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: first of all, how dare you? Second of all, shouldn't
- 4:10Speaker 2: you be discouraging me from spending money? And third of all, yes,
- 4:14Speaker 2: can I get a bag for this?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yes, can I get a bag for this? Love that.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Yeah, but this book, when I got it, I'm going
- 4:23Speaker 2: to be honest, I didn't know much about it. I
- 4:26Speaker 2: went in blind and I thought it was going to
- 4:29Speaker 2: be kind of dumb and campy. Maybe another... like just
- 4:35Speaker 2: another generic like smutty book about like gay werewolves and
- 4:40Speaker 2: shit and I've read my fair share of those but
- 4:45Speaker 2: it turned out it was a lot it was still
- 4:46Speaker 2: campy and it was kind of dumb at some points
- 4:49Speaker 2: but it was still like it was a lot better
- 4:51Speaker 2: of a read than I expected so I would definitely
- 4:56Speaker 2: say I would definitely suggest like if you want something
- 4:58Speaker 2: that's kind of that's a little bit different and than
- 5:01Speaker 2: from your usual like smutty gay novels and i definitely
- 5:06Speaker 2: go with this one because while it does have a
- 5:08Speaker 2: little bit of smut like there's there are scenes of
- 5:11Speaker 2: like there are some scenes of like sexual content but
- 5:15Speaker 2: it's really not like the main focus of the book
- 5:18Speaker 2: um so just to jump right into it the story
- 5:22Speaker 2: it follows a guy in his mid-20s his name is
- 5:25Speaker 2: brian And Brian has to navigate his life as a werewolf.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The thing about Brian is, like, Brian, like, before, he
- 5:36Speaker 2: was not always a werewolf. He was not born a werewolf.
- 5:38Speaker 2: He was turned into a werewolf. So before he was
- 5:41Speaker 2: turned into a werewolf, he was going to college. He
- 5:45Speaker 2: was a meticulous planner. He was basically one of those go-getters, right?
- 5:50Speaker 2: Those go-getters in high school that was participating in all
- 5:53Speaker 2: these different kinds of extracurriculars. And he got into a
- 5:58Speaker 2: really good school. But then when he got into college,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and college was working out really well for him, there
- 6:05Speaker 2: was an accident. Brian accidentally ran over an old lady. And,
- 6:10Speaker 2: of course, he did what he was supposed to do.
- 6:11Speaker 2: He got down, made sure he tried to offer her assistance.
- 6:15Speaker 2: But there's something really weird about this old lady. She
- 6:18Speaker 2: got up. She was definitely pissed if she got hit.
- 6:22Speaker 2: But rather than accept any help from Brian, she ended
- 6:26Speaker 2: up looking at him, pointed at him, and said some
- 6:29Speaker 2: words in language he couldn't understand and then walked away.
- 6:32Speaker 2: He was super confused, didn't know what to think about that,
- 6:34Speaker 2: and tried to report it. But since... If he walked away,
- 6:39Speaker 2: there's nothing they can do. But then, the following full moon,
- 6:42Speaker 2: he ended up transforming. So, unlike your typical werewolf story
- 6:49Speaker 2: where the werewolf was either born a werewolf or got
- 6:53Speaker 2: turned into a werewolf by being bitten by another one,
- 6:56Speaker 2: he was cursed by a witch. We don't know what
- 7:01Speaker 2: kind of witch she was. We don't know if she
- 7:02Speaker 2: was some gypsy lady or with a grudge, you know,
- 7:07Speaker 2: but all we know is that she was just some
- 7:10Speaker 2: crotchety old lady who cursed him with lycanthropy. And because
- 7:15Speaker 2: of this, as he realized that, when he figures out
- 7:19Speaker 2: that he's now a werewolf, his performance in school really
- 7:23Speaker 2: dropped because he was terrified, he was trying to juggle school,
- 7:27Speaker 2: part-time job, and... uh, manage his, his lycanthropy, uh, cause
- 7:33Speaker 2: you know, he had, he had to make sure that
- 7:35Speaker 2: he gets himself to a safe space where there's not
- 7:38Speaker 2: going to be a lot of people and so we
- 7:41Speaker 2: can be able to, you know, go through his monthly transformations. Um,
- 7:46Speaker 2: but it got, it got to a point where it
- 7:48Speaker 2: was too much for him that he ended up dropping
- 7:50Speaker 2: out of school. He moved in with his family for
- 7:52Speaker 2: back in with his parents for a few, for a
- 7:54Speaker 2: short period. But he was still like he was still
- 7:57Speaker 2: afraid that he was going to end up hurting somebody.
- 7:59Speaker 2: So he ends up moving out onto his own. He
- 8:01Speaker 2: moves into a city far away from his family and
- 8:05Speaker 2: starts a new life. But basically, he's just now coasting
- 8:09Speaker 2: through life. He has a really shitty. He has a
- 8:14Speaker 2: really shitty part time job as a. So, yeah, Brian
- 8:18Speaker 2: ends up moving away and starts coasting through life. He
- 8:22Speaker 2: keeps his distance from others, from other people. He only
- 8:26Speaker 2: ever really like goes through like random hookups. Just he
- 8:30Speaker 2: doesn't really like get close to anybody. The closest he's
- 8:34Speaker 2: ever gotten, though, is with two of his co-workers from
- 8:37Speaker 2: the restaurant. A woman, a woman named Nick, and she's
- 8:44Speaker 2: currently she's the manager of their restaurant. the restaurant and
- 8:48Speaker 2: she's also uh she's also studying part-time to become a
- 8:52Speaker 2: nurse and then there's another and then there's another uh
- 8:55Speaker 2: co-worker a uh flamboyant they them name uh i had
- 9:01Speaker 2: his name here darby a flamboyant of a flamboyantly gay
- 9:09Speaker 2: they them named darby and Darby is very free-spirited, flamboyant,
- 9:22Speaker 2: and free-spirited type of artistic kind of gay. They are
- 9:28Speaker 2: always splitting back and forth between different artistic pursuits, like
- 9:33Speaker 2: either painting or theater, some other forms of show business,
- 9:39Speaker 2: like shows and performing arts. And Uh, so these two
- 9:46Speaker 2: have become basically his anchors, his lifelines. Um, he, the
- 9:50Speaker 2: thing is though, like outside of work, the only thing
- 9:52Speaker 2: that they really all do together is just get completely
- 9:55Speaker 2: wasted on, on, almost nightly basis uh so brian like
- 9:59Speaker 2: as a way of coping with his uh you know
- 10:02Speaker 2: with his new reality is like he's descended into like
- 10:05Speaker 2: to almost complete alcohol alcoholism uh when he's if he's
- 10:10Speaker 2: not working he's either getting drunk or just like coasting
- 10:13Speaker 2: through his days with uh like hosting you through his
- 10:17Speaker 2: days going through random hookups he's uh He has no
- 10:21Speaker 2: control over the transformations. Every time he transforms, he completely
- 10:24Speaker 2: blacks out. When he wakes up, he considers himself lucky
- 10:29Speaker 2: to only have woken up with the corpse of a
- 10:32Speaker 2: dead animal in his mouth rather than the corpse of
- 10:37Speaker 2: some poor dead hiker. Though, funnily enough, throughout the story,
- 10:43Speaker 2: there's a couple times where when he transforms, his wolf
- 10:47Speaker 2: does kill like some random hiker from like here and there.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And it's kind of interesting because he's taking a more
- 10:56Speaker 2: detached approach towards like this kind of stuff rather than
- 11:00Speaker 2: like allow himself to become like, like, like, like allow
- 11:04Speaker 2: himself to be overcome by like, like total guilt. Like,
- 11:07Speaker 2: Oh my God, I killed somebody. It's more of like, like,
- 11:11Speaker 2: Oh shit, the wolf killed somebody. Cause it's like, he
- 11:13Speaker 2: knows for a fact it's not really him. It's not
- 11:15Speaker 2: his fault. All right. He didn't ask to be a werewolf.
- 11:18Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:18Speaker 2: He just does what he can to manage it. But then,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you know, every now and then his wolf ends up
- 11:23Speaker 2: killing somebody. And it's just like, oops. Like, whoopsie. He does.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong. He does feel from time to time.
- 11:32Speaker 2: He does feel bad about it, but he just doesn't
- 11:34Speaker 2: really know what he what he can do about it.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Like he doesn't have the means to like to lock
- 11:37Speaker 2: himself up in a in like some sort of vault
- 11:40Speaker 2: or he doesn't have the means to find like a
- 11:43Speaker 2: completely 100 percent remote area. like the area that he
- 11:47Speaker 2: tends to like go to it's still very remote you
- 11:51Speaker 2: know still a very remote area uh but still occasionally
- 11:56Speaker 2: you have early morning hikers or late night joggers that
- 12:00Speaker 2: unfortunately get too close to the area to the area
- 12:03Speaker 2: that his wolf tends to explore um but in any
- 12:08Speaker 2: case brian's life begins to turn around maybe whether or
- 12:13Speaker 2: not it's for the good it for good or bad
- 12:16Speaker 2: is still up for debate at this point. Um, so
- 12:18Speaker 2: he ends up meeting a guy named Tyler. So, uh,
- 12:22Speaker 2: so Tyler, as it turns out is another werewolf. Uh,
- 12:25Speaker 2: and think about Tyler's Tyler's a rich kid, right? Trust
- 12:28Speaker 2: fund baby. And, uh, Tyler's one of those guys that's, is,
- 12:34Speaker 2: is that kind of like, uh, I'm trying to say
- 12:37Speaker 2: this without sounding insensitive, uh, He's basically a trust fund
- 12:41Speaker 2: kid who's trying hard to get out from under his
- 12:44Speaker 2: parents' heel. His father's heel because his father controls his
- 12:48Speaker 2: trust fund. He keeps trying out multiple different business ventures. Basically,
- 12:57Speaker 2: his approach is establishing pretty much a pyramid scheme. His
- 13:03Speaker 2: methods are basically making money through pyramid schemes. And Well,
- 13:09Speaker 2: at first, we don't really realize that that's the approach
- 13:13Speaker 2: Tyler is taking to making money. When Tyler approaches Brian,
- 13:18Speaker 2: the first time Brian realizes he and Tyler had met
- 13:21Speaker 2: before because during this full moon transformation, Tyler, who has
- 13:26Speaker 2: control over his transformations, or at least is able to
- 13:31Speaker 2: maintain control of himself while he's transformed... Um, he realized
- 13:36Speaker 2: that there's another, he realized there was another werewolf in
- 13:39Speaker 2: the area and ended up tracking down Brian. But while
- 13:42Speaker 2: they were both transformed, Brian, who completely like loses, like
- 13:46Speaker 2: control of himself as a werewolf ended up attacking Tyler. Um,
- 13:50Speaker 2: but Tyler managed to like fend him off. And when
- 13:53Speaker 2: Brian woke up the next day, he realized like, Hey,
- 13:55Speaker 2: why don't we have a huge, like a huge scar
- 13:57Speaker 2: on my, uh, on my stomach. And that's when later
- 14:02Speaker 2: Tyler approaches Brian. and basically tells him, like, reveals that
- 14:07Speaker 2: he's also a werewolf, and the reason why he's approaching
- 14:11Speaker 2: Brian is because he wants to try to help Brian.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Just like Brian, Tyler was transformed into a werewolf, although
- 14:18Speaker 2: in Tyler's case, it's more of the traditional way. He
- 14:21Speaker 2: gets bitten by another werewolf. He got attacked by another
- 14:24Speaker 2: werewolf and was turned. And ever since then, Tyler has
- 14:29Speaker 2: been trying to find other werewolves, and he wanted to try...
- 14:32Speaker 2: So Tyler... tyler was basically trying to and that he's
- 14:37Speaker 2: trying to convince brian to join him in this like
- 14:40Speaker 2: community that they're going to build together like a community
- 14:44Speaker 2: of werewolves to like basically create like a support group
- 14:47Speaker 2: because he realized that you know he kind of he
- 14:51Speaker 2: tries to like approach it in a way like try
- 14:53Speaker 2: to like present himself as like hey i'm just like
- 14:55Speaker 2: you all right you know i have i have to
- 14:58Speaker 2: manage this month by month i have to lock myself
- 15:00Speaker 2: away keep myself away from other people Not really let
- 15:03Speaker 2: myself get too attached. Trying to make himself off to
- 15:07Speaker 2: being like, oh, I'm just like you. But at the
- 15:10Speaker 2: end of the day, Tyler is a trust fund baby.
- 15:13Speaker 2: He has almost limitless resources at his disposal. And he
- 15:21Speaker 2: literally was able to buy himself a vault to lock
- 15:25Speaker 2: himself away during the transformations. So really, he's not. Because
- 15:31Speaker 2: of his privilege, he's able to more easily manage his transformations.
- 15:37Speaker 2: But the thing is, though, despite all this, Tyler actually
- 15:42Speaker 2: ends up teaching Brian some very important things and actually
- 15:46Speaker 2: ends up helping Brian. So Brian at first is skeptical,
- 15:50Speaker 2: but then when Tyler tells him that he can teach
- 15:52Speaker 2: Brian how to control his transformations, they can't really transform
- 15:57Speaker 2: it well. but they can still at least can, uh,
- 16:00Speaker 2: get to a point where the transformations aren't just like
- 16:02Speaker 2: a blind transformation and they completely lose control of who
- 16:06Speaker 2: they are. Um, he starts teaching Brian, he starts teaching Brian,
- 16:10Speaker 2: like he basically becomes Brian's life coach, teaching him like about,
- 16:14Speaker 2: you know, uh, self-awareness, uh, like, you know, maintaining balance
- 16:19Speaker 2: between mind and body. He helps them get, start getting
- 16:22Speaker 2: into shape. Like they start working out together. They start, uh,
- 16:26Speaker 2: they do like, mantras and meditations and things like that
- 16:30Speaker 2: things to help brian like center himself and get control
- 16:34Speaker 2: of like his more like help better control his mental
- 16:37Speaker 2: well-being things like that and at first brian is not
- 16:40Speaker 2: really like for it like he follows the he follows
- 16:43Speaker 2: the program he half-heartedly says the man like follows the
- 16:48Speaker 2: mantras like says the mantras to himself he'll like half-assedly
- 16:52Speaker 2: meditate and he'll he'll work out but he hates it
- 16:55Speaker 2: because he's out he's really out of shape But then
- 17:00Speaker 2: the following month after they started working together, Brian gets
- 17:06Speaker 2: ready for his transformation. And when he transforms, he realizes
- 17:09Speaker 2: that he now has control of himself. He's not blacking out.
- 17:13Speaker 2: He's in control of his wolf form. He's able to
- 17:17Speaker 2: recall everything that's going on during the full moon. And
- 17:20Speaker 2: he was actually able to avoid other people. Instead of
- 17:27Speaker 2: the wolf just running wild. And after that full moon,
- 17:32Speaker 2: Brian is totally sold. He's totally sold on the whole,
- 17:37Speaker 2: you know, like, this whole life coach deal, learning how
- 17:40Speaker 2: to control his wolf, learning how to control his, you know,
- 17:44Speaker 2: his self and get himself back on track to, like,
- 17:47Speaker 2: having a normal life. So... They start working out. He
- 17:53Speaker 2: starts really throwing himself into this. He works out. He
- 17:55Speaker 2: follows the exercises, the mantras, the meditations. He reads through
- 18:02Speaker 2: all the reading material that Tyler gives him. He starts
- 18:05Speaker 2: also taking better care of his health. He starts eating
- 18:08Speaker 2: more health. He starts maintaining a healthy diet. He quits drinking.
- 18:13Speaker 2: The thing is, though, Tyler's methods, as it's quickly... It's pretty,
- 18:21Speaker 2: it's very obvious, like, as Brian is following Tyler's teaching,
- 18:27Speaker 2: it's very obvious that his teachings, quote unquote, are just, like,
- 18:30Speaker 2: are borderline, like, Andrew Tate type of, like, you know, machismo, like,
- 18:37Speaker 2: toxic masculinity. All right, like, I'm in control, I'm the
- 18:41Speaker 2: man kind of deal. Like, Brian being gay, he doesn't fully, like,
- 18:46Speaker 2: get on board with that kind of, that part of it.
- 18:49Speaker 2: There does come a point where Tyler introduces another werewolf
- 18:53Speaker 2: who happens to be a close friend of Tyler's who
- 18:56Speaker 2: was also attacked and turned into a werewolf. When the
- 19:01Speaker 2: two of them are together, they're basically those dumb, hyper-masculine
- 19:08Speaker 2: dudes that when you put them together in a gym,
- 19:11Speaker 2: they start doing stupid shit together. They start sharing one
- 19:14Speaker 2: brain cell bouncing dumb ideas off each other. And While
- 19:21Speaker 2: Brian keeps up with the program, he still has moments
- 19:24Speaker 2: where he's like, y'all are stupid. This is dumb. But
- 19:30Speaker 2: the thing is, he's still following. He's still at least
- 19:34Speaker 2: going along with it. And it's so much to the
- 19:38Speaker 2: point where his friends are starting to notice it too.
- 19:41Speaker 2: He's changing. He views himself as more assertive and more confident.
- 19:46Speaker 2: But they start pointing out that he's actually being, he's
- 19:49Speaker 2: actually starting to turn into a dick because there are
- 19:51Speaker 2: several times at work where he caused problems with his
- 19:55Speaker 2: patrons because being a waiter you know you know what
- 19:57Speaker 2: it is you know how it is food service you
- 19:59Speaker 2: have to be polite you have to you know basically
- 20:02Speaker 2: you basically have to kiss at do a lot of
- 20:04Speaker 2: kiss ass but there's a few times where he just
- 20:06Speaker 2: basically tells off us like rude customers and because they're
- 20:10Speaker 2: being impatient or they're just being very demanding. At one
- 20:13Speaker 2: point there was this lady there with her five kids
- 20:15Speaker 2: and she kept, and she was being very impatient because
- 20:17Speaker 2: of how busy it was. Kept asking Brian, like how
- 20:21Speaker 2: long is my food going to take? How long is
- 20:22Speaker 2: it going to be? Like almost every like two minutes
- 20:24Speaker 2: she kept asking until finally he snapped at her and
- 20:26Speaker 2: it was like, lady, you came here during our busy hours,
- 20:29Speaker 2: read the room. We're busy and walked away. I'm just like,
- 20:33Speaker 2: you know, okay. Like me coming from a customer service standpoint, um,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I work in customer service, and he said the one
- 20:40Speaker 2: thing that I want to say a lot of the
- 20:43Speaker 2: time is because I'll have customers call in and be all, like,
- 20:48Speaker 2: why was I waiting so long? Lady, you called during
- 20:52Speaker 2: the lunch hour. Okay, this is a time when everybody
- 20:54Speaker 2: wants to call. Everyone is taking their lunch break from work,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and they realize, oh, we need to call this company
- 21:01Speaker 2: for whatever reason to figure some things out. So like,
- 21:04Speaker 2: this is the only time of the day that I have,
- 21:06Speaker 2: and I won't have time after work. So they all
- 21:08Speaker 2: decide we're going to call right here now at this
- 21:11Speaker 2: exact same time. So read the room you called during the, you,
- 21:16Speaker 2: you called literally during the lunch rush. So calm down.
- 21:20Speaker 3: All right.
- 21:21Speaker 2: You want to know, you want to know why, like,
- 21:22Speaker 2: why is it so busy? You tell me you're the
- 21:24Speaker 2: one calling us. But still, that got him into trouble.
- 21:29Speaker 2: That got him into trouble. Nick being the manager had
- 21:32Speaker 2: to write him up. And then also, Brian is also
- 21:38Speaker 2: noticing that there's more of a distance growing between him
- 21:42Speaker 2: and his friends. Darby is preparing for a big performance.
- 21:49Speaker 2: He's putting together a huge show at their local theater. Oh,
- 21:52Speaker 2: I'm sorry. They are putting together a huge show a
- 21:55Speaker 2: huge performance at the local theater. And Darby has also
- 21:59Speaker 2: begun dating an older gentleman that frequents the, that frequents
- 22:04Speaker 2: their restaurant. Guy's name is Abe. He's very quiet. Doesn't
- 22:06Speaker 2: really talk much, but Darby became, they immediately became smitten
- 22:11Speaker 2: with a, with a, you know, like daddy issues. Oh,
- 22:15Speaker 2: excuse me.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Oh, damn.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I mean, I call it like I see it. All right.
- 22:22Speaker 2: He like Darby is a non-binary twink. who immediately fell
- 22:27Speaker 2: head over heels for an older gentleman who's like clearly
- 22:29Speaker 2: in his like, like mid forties, like, like reaching 50.
- 22:34Speaker 1: All right.
- 22:34Speaker 2: So somebody has like, someone has some like a daddy, daddy, daddy,
- 22:40Speaker 2: not to read, not to read a Darby Darby's a sweetheart.
- 22:43Speaker 2: And they're, they're actually really funny. They're a very interesting character,
- 22:48Speaker 2: but still like, uh, still Brian starts developing jealousy. Like
- 22:53Speaker 2: he really, starts showing jealousy, and he's very judgmental of Abe.
- 23:03Speaker 2: He questions why Abe is even interested. Someone like Abe
- 23:06Speaker 2: is even interested in someone like Darby. Darby is getting
- 23:11Speaker 2: sick of his shit, and he's slowly getting sick of
- 23:15Speaker 2: his shit. Nick keeps reminding Brian, hey, Abe makes Darby happy,
- 23:18Speaker 2: so just be happy for them and stop being such
- 23:25Speaker 2: a dick about their relationship. But still, like, Brian being
- 23:31Speaker 2: a mouthy gay guy, it's kind of hard to keep
- 23:33Speaker 2: his opinions to himself. Yeah. And there comes a point
- 23:39Speaker 2: where Darby reminds Brian at this point, like Brian rarely
- 23:43Speaker 2: ever goes out and hangs out with Nick and Darby anymore.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And Darby comes up to Brian to remind him of
- 23:49Speaker 2: the upcoming performance because, you know, he's still, because they still,
- 23:54Speaker 2: they still view Brian as a friend. They still want,
- 23:57Speaker 2: they still want Brian to be there, but he makes
- 23:59Speaker 2: like a little side comment, like, okay, well, if you
- 24:01Speaker 2: miss a show, we're, we're through. And then walks off like, okay, bye. Bye.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Oh my God.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Okay, bye. If you ditch the show, we're through. Bye.
- 24:15Speaker 2: But Brian does end up going to the show, and
- 24:18Speaker 2: they have a good time. He really enjoys Darby's performance.
- 24:21Speaker 2: And the thing is, though, at the end of the show,
- 24:23Speaker 2: they go backstage to congratulate Darby on their performance, because
- 24:28Speaker 2: it was actually like... I'm not really going to describe
- 24:30Speaker 2: the show, because it was some sort of performance. I
- 24:34Speaker 2: guess like an interpretive performance. Uh, in either way, it
- 24:37Speaker 2: was very expressive. It was very dramatic and it really,
- 24:42Speaker 2: it really hit well with the audience. So, uh, you know, dark.
- 24:46Speaker 2: So while they were waiting for Darby to show up, uh,
- 24:49Speaker 2: to show up, they're waiting there with, uh, like they
- 24:52Speaker 2: were waiting there with Abe. uh, Brian is still making
- 24:55Speaker 2: little snide comments about Abe. Nick is getting sick of, uh,
- 24:59Speaker 2: Brian's shit. And then Darby shows up and, uh, finally
- 25:02Speaker 2: shows up. And when they, when they walk into, uh,
- 25:05Speaker 2: when they walk backstage, uh, Darby is carrying a bouquet
- 25:09Speaker 2: of flowers, right? And, uh, the flowers, I forgot what,
- 25:15Speaker 2: hold on. Let me look up what kind of flowers
- 25:17Speaker 2: they were. I don't want to say they're wolf. They're wolfsbane.
- 25:24Speaker 2: So while I'm looking at the type of flowers that Darby,
- 25:30Speaker 2: the bouquet that Darby had, the bouquet was given to
- 25:33Speaker 2: them by Abe, because Abe is actually a florist. He
- 25:38Speaker 2: owns a floral shop. And he had gifted Darby a
- 25:44Speaker 2: bouquet of flowers. The thing is, though, when Darby walks
- 25:48Speaker 2: in with the bouquet of flowers, the flowers are like
- 25:50Speaker 2: a purple, like a type of purple flowers. And as
- 25:54Speaker 2: soon as Darby gets near, as soon as Darby gets
- 25:59Speaker 2: near Brian, Brian immediately starts gagging. Like immediately starts gagging,
- 26:05Speaker 2: like uncontrollably gagging and retching. And of course, Darby thinking
- 26:10Speaker 2: that Brian is like doing that because he, because he
- 26:14Speaker 2: realized that the flowers were from, were from Abe. He gets,
- 26:18Speaker 2: they get super pissed off. I'm such an asshole. I
- 26:23Speaker 2: keep misgendering him. I keep misgendering them. That does not
- 26:29Speaker 2: sound great. It does not sound great. Darby's a they them.
- 26:33Speaker 2: And I keep saying he hit like he him. So like.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Just you're not. I mean, you're you're catching yourself. That's
- 26:43Speaker 1: that's that's what matters.
- 26:44Speaker 2: There's like there's like five different like super masculine people
- 26:48Speaker 2: in this in this book. All right. And then there's
- 26:51Speaker 2: and then there's Darby. The one day the token they them. Okay. Okay.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Let's see here. Anyway, so Darby, they get sick of
- 27:04Speaker 2: Brian's shit. They get super pissed off at him because
- 27:08Speaker 2: they immediately think that Brian is retching and gagging like
- 27:11Speaker 2: that because Brian realized that the flowers were from Abe
- 27:16Speaker 2: and getting super pissed off and finally, like, having had
- 27:20Speaker 2: enough of Brian constantly, like, like, insulting and ragging on
- 27:26Speaker 2: their relationship with Abe, they storm off and basically say,
- 27:29Speaker 2: we're through.
- 27:31Speaker 1: We're done.
- 27:33Speaker 2: We're so done. I'm so sick of your shit. We
- 27:36Speaker 2: are through. And leaves in a huff. Nick is standing
- 27:39Speaker 2: there like, what the fuck was that about? And Brian's like, wait,
- 27:44Speaker 2: hold up. I wasn't doing that on purpose. Something's wrong.
- 27:48Speaker 2: He's still gagging and retching. We'll later come... The flowers
- 27:54Speaker 2: are important later. And I'll explain what they are later.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I still need to find the freaking page that tells
- 27:59Speaker 2: me what they are. So this is where things start
- 28:02Speaker 2: to go to shit for Brian. So basically after this event,
- 28:06Speaker 2: after the performance, Darby refuses to speak to Brian or
- 28:13Speaker 2: even acknowledge his existence. Nick is somewhat keeping her distance
- 28:17Speaker 2: because she's still friends with Darby. And she's still trying
- 28:21Speaker 2: to be friendly with Brian, but even she has gotten
- 28:24Speaker 2: sick of his shit. And Brian, who on one hand
- 28:29Speaker 2: is feeling sad that he's lost, has basically alienated himself
- 28:32Speaker 2: from his friends, he's also dealing with that sense of abandonment,
- 28:38Speaker 2: where he basically expected this to happen. He was afraid
- 28:41Speaker 2: this was going to happen, mainly because of his lycanthropy.
- 28:45Speaker 2: And the fact that it is happening is vindicating. those fears.
- 28:52Speaker 2: So he decides to just go ahead and like, he's
- 28:55Speaker 2: deciding he's just going to go ahead and just rip
- 28:58Speaker 2: the bandaid off and just cut contact with them and not,
- 29:00Speaker 2: and just continue focusing on, you know, his relationship with
- 29:05Speaker 2: Tyler and Tyler's friend, Mark. The thing is though, things
- 29:11Speaker 2: are not, are starting to, are slowly starting to not
- 29:14Speaker 2: work out with Tyler. As Tyler's becoming more aggressive in
- 29:17Speaker 2: their life coaching, he's pushing Brian to be more active,
- 29:24Speaker 2: being more active. They're doing more and more exercises together,
- 29:28Speaker 2: though their exercises are becoming more intense. Because even in
- 29:32Speaker 2: their human forms, that as werewolves, they are, they are
- 29:35Speaker 2: way stronger than humans. All right. Like at one point
- 29:39Speaker 2: when Brian starts going for like daily runs, he decides
- 29:42Speaker 2: to put in a little bit extra strength into his
- 29:45Speaker 2: run and power into his muscle as he run. And
- 29:48Speaker 2: he actually ended up cracking the concrete as he was
- 29:50Speaker 2: running the house because of how powerful his strides were. So,
- 29:55Speaker 2: and there comes a point where Tyler starts forcing Brian to,
- 29:59Speaker 2: and the other, uh, Brian and Mark to start fighting
- 30:02Speaker 2: each other. So like they do sparring lessons together and
- 30:05Speaker 2: he's actually pushing them to get more and more aggressive.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Like Mark is like the typical, like he's that typical,
- 30:14Speaker 2: like second wheel where he's always, he's basically just go,
- 30:17Speaker 2: he just goes along with what Tyler says, you know,
- 30:20Speaker 2: when they're together, like they're bouncing the same, uh, the
- 30:23Speaker 2: same brain cell backs and forth with each other.
- 30:25Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:25Speaker 2: They get dumber by the second, the longer they're with
- 30:27Speaker 2: each other. And, But either way, he's that kind of
- 30:32Speaker 2: guy that's like, oh, yeah, well, he's the boss. So
- 30:35Speaker 2: what he says goes. No questions asked or anything like that.
- 30:38Speaker 2: And at one point, Tyler convinces Brian to go on
- 30:45Speaker 2: a weekend hiking trip with him and some other friends, right?
- 30:49Speaker 2: This is not really something that Brian is really into.
- 30:54Speaker 2: It's not really his cup of tea. But he decides
- 30:57Speaker 2: to go because at this point, he's already like, Him
- 31:00Speaker 2: and his other friends are already on the outs with
- 31:03Speaker 2: each other. So he decides to go along with it.
- 31:06Speaker 2: He manages to sneakily get the weekend off by calling
- 31:10Speaker 2: in sick. He goes on the hike and he meets
- 31:14Speaker 2: some of Tyler and Mark's friends. The thing is that
- 31:17Speaker 2: these friends are all human. And they're definitely those kind of...
- 31:21Speaker 2: They're all very well off. And when they go camping
- 31:25Speaker 2: and hiking, it's not really camping. It's just glamping. So
- 31:28Speaker 2: they have all these, like, you know, they have all the,
- 31:30Speaker 2: all the, you know, the gear, the expensive gear, hiking shoes,
- 31:35Speaker 2: you know, proper, they have like different outfits for like the,
- 31:38Speaker 2: for the different walks they go on, the different hikes
- 31:40Speaker 2: they go on. And here, here's Brian who just only
- 31:43Speaker 2: has like his duffel bag and like he's, uh, and
- 31:46Speaker 2: he doesn't even have, he didn't even have a tent
- 31:48Speaker 2: he could use. So he had to, he had to
- 31:51Speaker 2: double up with someone else. Um, During the hike, there
- 31:56Speaker 2: ends up being a lot of tension between Brian and Mark.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Also with Tyler's girlfriend. Tyler turns out he has a girlfriend.
- 32:09Speaker 2: She doesn't know anything about Tyler's lycanthropy, but she keeps
- 32:12Speaker 2: trying to sneakily probe Brian for more details. Brian doesn't
- 32:17Speaker 2: really talk much about you know, his thing with you guys,
- 32:26Speaker 2: you know, like what's up with that? Like, she's trying
- 32:28Speaker 2: to like, she's trying to like nose into like what
- 32:31Speaker 2: they're doing, but, but Brian doesn't want to tell her.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Cause like, what's he going to tell her that? Oh yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 2: We're all three of us are werewolves and we're building
- 32:38Speaker 2: a pack together.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Of course.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Of course. Right.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Just tell them.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Straight up.
- 32:45Speaker 2: But and then also his girlfriend, Tyler's girlfriend, is that
- 32:49Speaker 2: type of straight woman who once they find out you're gay,
- 32:53Speaker 2: they immediately think like, oh, my God, gay bestie.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Oh, my God, my token gay friend.
- 32:58Speaker 2: And they really try hard to make you part of
- 33:00Speaker 2: the girlies, you know. And like, listen, great women, gay
- 33:07Speaker 2: men are not your play things. You can't just immediately
- 33:12Speaker 2: think like, oh, he's mine now. I'm adopting him. This
- 33:15Speaker 2: is my gay friend. We're besties now. Like, you can't
- 33:18Speaker 2: do that. All right. You can't just pick up a
- 33:20Speaker 2: gay man. That's not how that works.
- 33:23Speaker 1: OK.
- 33:24Speaker 2: But anyway, Brian starting to get annoyed with her. And
- 33:27Speaker 2: there comes a point where, like, they're having they're like
- 33:29Speaker 2: settling down for the night. They're having they're making their
- 33:32Speaker 2: they're having dinner. And she keeps pushing him for, like,
- 33:37Speaker 2: details on his relationships and like his hookups. And he's
- 33:40Speaker 2: getting uncomfortable with that because that's really none of her business.
- 33:43Speaker 2: They hardly know each other. And she starts pushing him more.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And like, David starts asking him, so are you like
- 33:50Speaker 2: a top or are you a bottom? And straight women, again,
- 33:56Speaker 2: that is not appropriate conversation material. Okay. Unless like you
- 34:01Speaker 2: guys get to a point where you're like, you know,
- 34:03Speaker 2: you're tight like that, where you can like talk, like
- 34:06Speaker 2: talk about that, then sure. That's fine. At that point,
- 34:09Speaker 2: that's fine because you've come close enough where it's okay
- 34:12Speaker 2: to talk about that thing, about these things together. But
- 34:15Speaker 2: you don't just go up to a gay person that
- 34:20Speaker 2: you barely know, that you just barely met and start
- 34:23Speaker 2: asking them, are you a top or a bottom? How
- 34:26Speaker 2: do you like it?
- 34:27Speaker 1: How do you like it? That's none of your damn business.
- 34:31Speaker 2: And he basically tells her that, and she just, like,
- 34:33Speaker 2: keeps brushing him off, like, like, oh, I'm just asking,
- 34:36Speaker 2: I just want to know. And he finally tells her, like,
- 34:38Speaker 2: he starts pulling up, like, he starts asking her questions, like, okay, well,
- 34:42Speaker 2: how do you like it? Like, Do you like being
- 34:50Speaker 2: on top? How do you like taking it? She gets offended.
- 34:53Speaker 2: She's like, that's not really an appropriate thing to ask me.
- 34:55Speaker 2: He's like, what makes you think asking me the same
- 34:59Speaker 2: questions is appropriate for you? That's none of your damn business.
- 35:04Speaker 2: He chews her out right on the spot. He ends
- 35:07Speaker 2: up creating a lot of tension with the whole group.
- 35:12Speaker 2: He's just like, alright, you know what? I'm going to bed.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Good night. he goes to he ends up going to
- 35:17Speaker 2: the tent and going into his tent and uh thing
- 35:22Speaker 2: is is that not long later uh the other werewolf
- 35:25Speaker 2: mark comes in and makes a pass at right at
- 35:31Speaker 2: brian oh and they end up yeah they end up
- 35:34Speaker 2: hooking up and brian starts asking like starts questioning mark
- 35:38Speaker 2: like are you really like because at this point he
- 35:40Speaker 2: started they're like starting to get really um Tyler's starting
- 35:44Speaker 2: to get more aggressive. He's trying harder to find other
- 35:47Speaker 2: werewolves to join, but he hasn't been successful. He mentioned
- 35:52Speaker 2: that he did find another werewolf, but they basically told
- 35:54Speaker 2: him to go fuck himself. And now he's becoming more pushy.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Tyler is putting more and more shit on them, building
- 36:06Speaker 2: a website for their pack. And he's slowly realizing this
- 36:11Speaker 2: is turning into a pyramid scheme. like, some sort of
- 36:14Speaker 2: weird werewolf pyramid scheme.
- 36:16Speaker 1: That's funny. That's funny.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 1: That's stupid, but that's funny.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah. And, you know, after, like, so, like, Mark ends
- 36:28Speaker 2: up admitting that, yeah, he, like, yeah, he does, like,
- 36:32Speaker 2: feel like he does, like, feel attraction to guys but
- 36:35Speaker 2: because of like certain expectations that are put on him
- 36:38Speaker 2: and other things he doesn't really do anything about it
- 36:40Speaker 2: so it's just a standard like you know like he
- 36:43Speaker 2: comes from a toxic background can't really be like can't
- 36:46Speaker 2: really admit that he's gay or bi at least and
- 36:50Speaker 2: you know has to pretend that he's straight and you
- 36:54Speaker 2: know after they later after they hook up like mark
- 36:57Speaker 2: leaves the tent but then tyler comes in and calls
- 37:00Speaker 2: both of them uh out for like a late night
- 37:03Speaker 2: hike So they go deeper into the forest. He forces
- 37:06Speaker 2: them to start sparring. All three of them start sparring
- 37:09Speaker 2: together and they get really rough. Like they're so rough
- 37:11Speaker 2: that they're actually like tearing down trees as they're sparring.
- 37:14Speaker 2: And then at the end of the sparring session, Tyler
- 37:17Speaker 2: tells them that, you know, that because of how his quote,
- 37:21Speaker 2: his quote unquote recruitment efforts have been going so badly,
- 37:24Speaker 2: he decided it's time to start actively recruiting people, regular people.
- 37:31Speaker 2: So basically what he wants both Mark and Brian to do,
- 37:37Speaker 2: he wants them to find two people each and turn
- 37:41Speaker 2: them into werewolves by the next full moon. So they
- 37:45Speaker 2: can be recruited into the pack. And that's where Brian
- 37:50Speaker 2: is like, oh, hell to the fucking no. Like, are
- 37:56Speaker 2: you fucking serious? Now, he does voice his derision. Like,
- 38:04Speaker 2: you know, his, oh my God, what's the word? Like,
- 38:08Speaker 2: any other day I would think of the word, but
- 38:09Speaker 2: then when I actually need the word, it's like, I
- 38:11Speaker 2: can't think of it. Okay. So Brian does, like, he
- 38:20Speaker 2: voices his concerns and he disagrees. Like, we shouldn't be
- 38:23Speaker 2: doing this. None of us chose to be werewolves. Why
- 38:26Speaker 2: should we be forcing other people to become werewolves? But
- 38:32Speaker 2: Tyler ends up shutting it down and Barry almost threateningly
- 38:37Speaker 2: tells him, you're going to turn somebody to people by
- 38:40Speaker 2: the next full moon. So that conversation's over. They end
- 38:45Speaker 2: up going back home. Tyler's girlfriend ends up doing that
- 38:50Speaker 2: thing where even though she was the one who was
- 38:52Speaker 2: in the wrong, she's now giving everybody the silent treatment
- 38:55Speaker 2: until they apologize to her. It's like, honey, that's not
- 39:00Speaker 2: how this works.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 2: That's not how that works. You're the one who was
- 39:07Speaker 2: being inappropriate and you were shut down for it. And
- 39:09Speaker 2: now you think like, Oh, well they need to apologize
- 39:11Speaker 2: for me. I was the one I'm the one being wrong.
- 39:13Speaker 2: It's like, no, you were the one doing the wrong.
- 39:15Speaker 2: You just got called out for it. So, so settle down.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And so they ended. So they dropped Brian off home.
- 39:25Speaker 2: He takes some time to like really rethink like everything
- 39:27Speaker 2: he's been doing. And he decides that he is going to,
- 39:30Speaker 2: to quit. He's going to quit Tyler. Like he, at
- 39:34Speaker 2: this point, like he, he realizes that like a lot
- 39:37Speaker 2: of what Tyler had taught him really helped him to
- 39:39Speaker 2: get control of his life again. So he, he, now
- 39:42Speaker 2: he doesn't feel like his life is as aimless as
- 39:44Speaker 2: it used to be. He feels like he actually has
- 39:47Speaker 2: a direction. He doesn't feel like he has to be
- 39:50Speaker 2: afraid of his transformations anymore because now he can control
- 39:54Speaker 2: himself while he's a werewolf. He can't control when the
- 39:59Speaker 2: transformation happens, but still. He's in a better place than
- 40:05Speaker 2: he was months before for the last few years. He
- 40:09Speaker 2: ends up reconnecting with both Nick and Darby He apologizes
- 40:14Speaker 2: to Darby and they're like, at first they're like, like,
- 40:21Speaker 2: they're like, I don't know. You're kind of an asshole.
- 40:26Speaker 2: But Brian ends up making up to making it up
- 40:28Speaker 2: to them. And he completely avoids Tyler. And Tyler keeps
- 40:35Speaker 2: trying to reach out to him, trying to get updates like, hey,
- 40:37Speaker 2: have you figured it out? Have you figured it out? Like,
- 40:39Speaker 2: we need we like we need answers. And finally, Brian
- 40:44Speaker 2: tells Tyler, like, I'm done with you people. I'm not
- 40:48Speaker 2: going to turn people into a werewolf. I'm not going to, like,
- 40:52Speaker 2: attack people to turn them into a werewolf. Like, I'm
- 40:55Speaker 2: not doing that. It's wrong and you know it. But
- 40:58Speaker 2: then Tyler ends up blackmailing Brian. Because the thing is that, unfortunately,
- 41:04Speaker 2: before they started working together.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Brian had accidentally killed several people as a werewolf. And
- 41:17Speaker 2: while the murders were written off as brutal animal attacks,
- 41:21Speaker 2: there's still a possibility that Brian's DNA is still all
- 41:25Speaker 2: over those corpses. So if Tyler were to make an
- 41:29Speaker 2: anonymous tip and point out that, hey, I think this
- 41:32Speaker 2: person did it, and they test Brian's DNA and confirm
- 41:36Speaker 2: it as... like the DNA matching the DNA on the victims,
- 41:43Speaker 2: then Brian's going to go down as a murderer. So
- 41:48Speaker 2: the thing, so here's, so this sets Brian off because
- 41:52Speaker 2: now he feels like he's being backed into a corner.
- 41:55Speaker 2: And here's the thing that he wants. Here's something that
- 41:57Speaker 2: he learned about being a werewolf is that as it
- 42:01Speaker 2: turns out, werewolves are very vengeful creatures. creatures vindictive and
- 42:07Speaker 2: vengeful creatures so if you were as let's say if
- 42:10Speaker 2: you are a human like in your human form and
- 42:12Speaker 2: someone really pisses you off or mildly inconveniences you your
- 42:16Speaker 2: werewolf actually ends up marking that person as in like
- 42:21Speaker 2: they the the werewolf is like on like subconsciously your
- 42:24Speaker 2: werewolf like take note of that person's scent and then
- 42:28Speaker 2: like on site on site and then during the next
- 42:32Speaker 2: full moon the werewolf will seek out that person and
- 42:34Speaker 2: kill them And as it turns out that actually happened
- 42:36Speaker 2: a couple of times with Brian, because there was a,
- 42:40Speaker 2: there was like one particularly rude lady that pissed him
- 42:43Speaker 2: off at work, like a rude customer. And then the
- 42:45Speaker 2: next full moon, Brian ended up killing her. Like he
- 42:49Speaker 2: didn't realize it was the same lady and he didn't
- 42:51Speaker 2: realize like, Oh, that's what his wolf did. But he
- 42:53Speaker 2: learned that he learned that, but that's what wolves can,
- 42:56Speaker 2: that's what happened. That could happen if you don't have
- 42:58Speaker 2: full control of your wolf. Right.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 2: So the thing is, is that, um, Brian ends up
- 43:05Speaker 2: losing control during his next transformation. And this time, though,
- 43:10Speaker 2: he marked Tyler. So his wolf immediately goes on site
- 43:15Speaker 2: for Tyler. But Tyler, being as wealthy as he is,
- 43:22Speaker 2: had already locked himself up in his vault. And his
- 43:25Speaker 2: house is a mansion, and it's basically its own fortress.
- 43:28Speaker 2: So when Brian tries to attack Tyler, his wolf can't
- 43:32Speaker 2: even get past the front door. But then, as he's...
- 43:37Speaker 2: But as his wolf... In his wolf form, he realizes
- 43:39Speaker 2: that he can't get to Tyler, he does... He ends
- 43:43Speaker 2: up catching the scent of another werewolf, and this other
- 43:46Speaker 2: werewolf happens to be Mark. And he tracks down Mark,
- 43:52Speaker 2: and as he comes close to Mark, he realizes Mark
- 43:55Speaker 2: is stalking a pair of late-night hikers. Like, late-night joggers. And... uh,
- 44:03Speaker 2: Brian realizing that Mark is about to turn these two,
- 44:06Speaker 2: attack them and turn these two. He ends up attacking
- 44:09Speaker 2: Mark any instead, and he kills Mark. So there's a little, uh,
- 44:15Speaker 2: a little sad thing about Mark that I forgot to mention. Um,
- 44:20Speaker 2: Brian ended up putting two to, when he confronted Tyler,
- 44:23Speaker 2: he ends up putting two and two together and realizes
- 44:26Speaker 2: that the story about how Mark was transformed, uh, was not,
- 44:30Speaker 2: it wasn't making sense. Cause what Mark told him was
- 44:32Speaker 2: that he and Brian were like, he and excuse me,
- 44:35Speaker 2: Mark and Tyler were like hiking together. And then they were,
- 44:38Speaker 2: then they were both attacked and Tyler's, uh, claim. And
- 44:42Speaker 2: while like Mark was, uh, knocked unconscious, Tyler claimed to
- 44:45Speaker 2: have been, uh, claimed to have scared off the monster
- 44:48Speaker 2: that attacked the werewolf that attacked them. But both of
- 44:51Speaker 2: them got bitten in the process. But what, but Brian
- 44:55Speaker 2: ends up putting two and two together and realizes that
- 44:57Speaker 2: Tyler was the one who turns Mark. And he, at
- 45:01Speaker 2: one point tries to, uh, tries to talk to Mark
- 45:03Speaker 2: about this, but Mark being that he's that kind of
- 45:07Speaker 2: person that just really goes along with, like, he really
- 45:11Speaker 2: just goes, he goes with the flow. And even though
- 45:14Speaker 2: Brian tries to convince him that Tyler was the one
- 45:16Speaker 2: who turned them, Mark was just like, eh, I mean,
- 45:19Speaker 2: what Tyler said, thinks his best, I guess, uh, So
- 45:23Speaker 2: it's totally brainwashed into going along with what Tyler does.
- 45:28Speaker 2: So in the end, Brian ends up killing Mark before
- 45:32Speaker 2: Mark can attack those two hikers. The next day, Brian
- 45:39Speaker 2: has to try to... Brian realizes what he did, and
- 45:42Speaker 2: he's like, oh, whoopsie. I did a fucky-wucky.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Yeah, fucky-wucky.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yeah. And he and then Tyler comes ends up coming in.
- 46:00Speaker 2: It ends up coming by and he starts threatening Mark.
- 46:04Speaker 2: He's like, you know, you killed my best friend, didn't you?
- 46:07Speaker 2: And he's like, yeah, I did. But that's because he
- 46:10Speaker 2: was trying to he was about to attack some joggers. OK.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Like what you're doing is wrong. They they they have
- 46:16Speaker 2: a falling out. And Tyler basically says, all right, that's it.
- 46:20Speaker 2: You know what? If you're not going to fall in line,
- 46:22Speaker 2: then I'm going to, then I'm going to do things
- 46:23Speaker 2: for you. And basically makes a threat against Nick and
- 46:27Speaker 2: Darby saying that he's that he, that next full moon,
- 46:30Speaker 2: Tyler's coming for them. It's on site. And Brian is
- 46:36Speaker 2: now freaking out, trying to figure out like, okay, what
- 46:38Speaker 2: can he do? What can he do? Can he like,
- 46:40Speaker 2: how can he protect his friends? And then he decides
- 46:42Speaker 2: the best way to protect them is to tell them
- 46:44Speaker 2: the truth. So he approaches the two. He sits him
- 46:47Speaker 2: down and he tells him everything. That he's a werewolf.
- 46:50Speaker 2: That Tyler's also a werewolf. And that's the reason why
- 46:55Speaker 2: they've been hanging out together. Because Tyler's been teaching him
- 46:57Speaker 2: how to control his transformations. All this other stuff. But
- 47:00Speaker 2: it ended up turning into an elaborate pyramid scheme. And
- 47:03Speaker 2: now Tyler wanted Brian to turn other people into werewolves.
- 47:07Speaker 2: But he didn't want to do that. But now, Tyler's
- 47:09Speaker 2: blackmailing Brian... Because of several people he's killed accidentally as
- 47:18Speaker 2: a werewolf. And also because he ended up killing Tyler's friends.
- 47:23Speaker 2: And now Tyler's going to come for them. And at
- 47:25Speaker 2: the end of the explanation, the two of them just
- 47:28Speaker 2: look at Brian and they're like, yeah, we knew you
- 47:30Speaker 2: were a werewolf. He's like, what? Yeah, we knew. Well,
- 47:37Speaker 2: I mean, we had our suspicions. Cause I mean, come on,
- 47:40Speaker 2: you disappear like once a month and we put two
- 47:43Speaker 2: and two together and realize that it's always during the
- 47:45Speaker 2: full moon. And then also like, you also seem very
- 47:48Speaker 2: paranoid around certain, like certain things that happen, like, you know,
- 47:51Speaker 2: the joggers dying and everything. So we had a feeling
- 47:54Speaker 2: that you, that it was something to do with being
- 47:56Speaker 2: a werewolf. And so realizing that this was coming out.
- 48:02Speaker 2: So realizing his second coming out was a lot easier
- 48:05Speaker 2: than the first coming out. Uh, uh, He tells them
- 48:11Speaker 2: what's going to happen. Tyler's going to come for them.
- 48:14Speaker 2: And they realize, well, okay, well, we should prepare. So
- 48:23Speaker 2: they actually end up making plans and they end up
- 48:26Speaker 2: preparing together. They end up preparing for the attack and
- 48:30Speaker 2: they decide, you know what, here's what we're going to do.
- 48:33Speaker 2: We're going to set the stage. We're going to force
- 48:36Speaker 2: Tyler to come to us. And we're going to kill them.
- 48:41Speaker 2: So that's pretty much what they do. They decide to–
- 48:44Speaker 2: that's pretty much what they do. So the day of
- 48:45Speaker 2: the full moon, they end up locking up the– they're
- 48:48Speaker 2: on the closing shift of the restaurant. They end up
- 48:50Speaker 2: locking up the restaurant, and they start barricading themselves inside.
- 48:54Speaker 2: They find everything they can use as a tool or
- 48:57Speaker 2: a weapon against an angry werewolf. And once everything is ready,
- 49:03Speaker 2: they set themselves up. Brian has to prepare himself because
- 49:07Speaker 2: the full moon's coming up and he's about to transform.
- 49:10Speaker 2: The other two are a little nervous, but he reassures
- 49:12Speaker 2: them that he's in control. Just, you know, keep your distance.
- 49:16Speaker 2: So the full moon rises. Brian ends up transforming and...
- 49:19Speaker 2: as a werewolf, he's just like a big black werewolf.
- 49:22Speaker 2: He's just a big black werewolf. Big back. Damn. I mean, low-key,
- 49:28Speaker 2: he was.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Wow, low-key, big back. But in his.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Werewolf form, he just looks like a big black werewolf.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Just a big black wolf. That's what he looks like. Yeah.
- 49:40Speaker 2: But Tyler is different for some reason. Like, I guess
- 49:44Speaker 2: because it's just comes down to the type of wolf
- 49:46Speaker 2: or lycanthropy he had. Because Tyler, when he transforms, he's
- 49:51Speaker 2: like the basically like a Van Helsing type werewolf. You know, bipedal,
- 49:56Speaker 2: huge and blonde. Oh, my. Yeah, so Tyler shows up
- 50:04Speaker 2: in his wolf form, ends up breaking through their barricades,
- 50:08Speaker 2: and he and Brian start fighting, but being the bigger wolf,
- 50:12Speaker 2: Tyler easily overpowers Brian. Darby and Nick do their best
- 50:17Speaker 2: to attack, and they're throwing shit at him. They're using knives.
- 50:21Speaker 2: They're using the kitchen knives. At one point, Nick ends
- 50:26Speaker 2: up creating a Molotov cocktail using the hooch in the bar,
- 50:29Speaker 2: behind the bar, and sets and sets him on fire
- 50:33Speaker 2: uh they're not really able to do much against him
- 50:37Speaker 2: but at one point then uh darby realizes wait a
- 50:40Speaker 2: second like they realize wait a second abe gave me
- 50:44Speaker 2: a gun pulls out a six shooter that abe gave
- 50:48Speaker 2: him uh had given him a while back had given
- 50:51Speaker 2: them a while back and uh nick is like how
- 50:54Speaker 2: long have you had that oh it was an anniversary
- 50:56Speaker 2: gift and So Darby ends up taking a shot at
- 51:07Speaker 2: Tyler and he shoots... Please edit that out. Darby ends
- 51:13Speaker 2: up shooting at Tyler multiple times and he misses almost
- 51:20Speaker 2: every single shot. It wasn't until he was on his last...
- 51:32Speaker 2: it wasn't until Darby it wasn't until they were on
- 51:34Speaker 2: their last shot that finally they actually hit Tyler such
- 51:41Speaker 2: a fucking asshole I keep saying he can we like
- 51:47Speaker 2: rewind I feel like such an asshole.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Go ahead you can start from when the werewolf hits.
- 51:56Speaker 2: The werewolf hits.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Werewolf not hits werewolf attacks.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Right. So Tyler shows up. He's basically a big blonde
- 52:05Speaker 2: Van Helsing style werewolf, unlike Brian, who's just who just
- 52:09Speaker 2: turns into a black wolf. And like a very big
- 52:14Speaker 2: black wolf, but still like the difference between a twilight
- 52:18Speaker 2: wolf werewolf and a Van Helsing werewolf. Yeah. And. They
- 52:25Speaker 2: end up fighting, but Tyler is easily able to overpower Brian.
- 52:30Speaker 2: Nick and Darby are doing what they can to try
- 52:33Speaker 2: to attack Tyler. They throw knives at him. At one point,
- 52:39Speaker 2: Nick throws a Molotov cocktail at him, but it doesn't
- 52:42Speaker 2: really do much against him. And then Darby realizes that,
- 52:47Speaker 2: wait a second, they actually have a gun that Abe
- 52:51Speaker 2: had given them. They're like, wait. it gave me a
- 52:58Speaker 2: gun Vic is like why do you have a gun
- 53:02Speaker 2: it's our anniversary gift it was an anniversary gift how
- 53:06Speaker 2: fun so Darby ends up pulling out their six shooter
- 53:11Speaker 2: and starts taking shots at Tyler but misses everyone until
- 53:17Speaker 2: finally they manage to nail a shot they actually manage
- 53:21Speaker 2: to shoot Tyler in the head and it kills Tyler
- 53:24Speaker 2: instantly period And like that. So like the the thing is,
- 53:32Speaker 2: is that the fight ended up doing a lot of
- 53:33Speaker 2: damage to the restaurant. And of course, like just like
- 53:39Speaker 2: any werewolf, when you when you kill a werewolf, you
- 53:41Speaker 2: immediately transform. They immediately transform back into their human form.
- 53:46Speaker 2: So the so after everything's said and done, the sun
- 53:49Speaker 2: is like they fight went through most of the night.
- 53:52Speaker 2: And the sun begins to rise. They start cleaning up
- 53:56Speaker 2: as much as they could, but they realize it's probably
- 53:57Speaker 2: best to just leave the mess as it is. And
- 54:03Speaker 2: just continue. Leave the mess as it is and make
- 54:07Speaker 2: it seem like it's a break-in of some kind. They
- 54:10Speaker 2: end up rolling up Tyler's body in a rug, and
- 54:15Speaker 2: they dispose of him in a dumpster, which I'm like, yeah,
- 54:19Speaker 2: that's definitely not going to be traced back to them
- 54:22Speaker 2: at all.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Totally, 100%.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but after that's all said and done and the
- 54:30Speaker 2: sun begins to rise, Abe shows up to the restaurant
- 54:35Speaker 2: and he looks at the scene completely nonchalant, like nothing
- 54:40Speaker 2: bothering him. And Abe is the one who ends up
- 54:42Speaker 2: telling them how to clean up everything. And they're all like, wait,
- 54:47Speaker 2: are you not surprised that there's a literal werewolf right there?
- 54:50Speaker 2: And he's like, not in the slightest. And he ends
- 54:55Speaker 2: up telling them that he actually knows about werewolves, and
- 54:59Speaker 2: he's known that there was a very dangerous werewolf running around,
- 55:03Speaker 2: and he's been investigating it. And they're like, what do
- 55:06Speaker 2: you mean you've been investigating it? He's like, we'll talk
- 55:09Speaker 2: about this after we clean up. So they finish cleaning up.
- 55:13Speaker 2: They leave the mess for the most part, except for maybe,
- 55:19Speaker 2: I think, no, not I think. They definitely dispose of
- 55:24Speaker 2: Tyler's body and clean up the blood. So that way
- 55:30Speaker 2: when the police show up and they see the mess,
- 55:32Speaker 2: they're just going to think it was just some kind
- 55:34Speaker 2: of break-in. So they all end up leaving. They head
- 55:42Speaker 2: over to Abe's floral shop. And when they walk in,
- 55:45Speaker 2: Abe has Darby take them all out into the back
- 55:48Speaker 2: because pretty much right front and center of the shop,
- 55:51Speaker 2: there is a there's a section of flowers where it's
- 55:54Speaker 2: just all wolf, wolfsbane. And as it turns out, wolfsbane
- 55:58Speaker 2: is toxic to werewolves because immediately Brian starts gagging and
- 56:02Speaker 2: getting sick when he gets near it. So Darby takes
- 56:05Speaker 2: them all back. Abe comes out and explains that he's
- 56:08Speaker 2: actually descended from Van Helsing. The actual, true, like real
- 56:15Speaker 2: Abraham Van Helsing. And that his family, along with a
- 56:18Speaker 2: group of other like a whole secret society of people
- 56:22Speaker 2: actually monitor and maintain the secrecy of the supernatural world.
- 56:28Speaker 2: And that the reason why Abe had come to the
- 56:29Speaker 2: restaurant and had been hanging around pretty much every day,
- 56:33Speaker 2: like this entire time, because like throughout the entire book,
- 56:36Speaker 2: Abe is always there hanging out at the restaurant. And
- 56:40Speaker 2: the reason why he was there in the first place was, one,
- 56:42Speaker 2: to keep an eye on Brian because he knew Brian
- 56:45Speaker 2: was a werewolf. But after observing Brian, he realized Brian
- 56:49Speaker 2: was relatively harmless and not the actual werewolf that he
- 56:52Speaker 2: was looking for. Because the actual werewolf he was looking
- 56:54Speaker 2: for was Tyler. Because his organization had discovered evidence that
- 57:01Speaker 2: there is a werewolf going around trying to recruit other
- 57:04Speaker 2: werewolves and also potentially trying to make more werewolves. So
- 57:09Speaker 2: Tyler was the real target. Um, and then when everything
- 57:12Speaker 2: came down to it and they had the fight, uh,
- 57:14Speaker 2: they ended up fighting and confronting Tyler. Uh, the reason
- 57:17Speaker 2: why aid didn't step in was because he had been
- 57:20Speaker 2: basically given orders to step aside because apparently this was
- 57:26Speaker 2: a test. The, the fight against Tyler was a test
- 57:30Speaker 2: for Brian, Nick and Darby. And basically they, he was
- 57:35Speaker 2: given orders to recruit them and that this was their
- 57:39Speaker 2: first test. And it makes them an offer like, hey,
- 57:43Speaker 2: you'll have access to virtually unlimited resources. You'll have access
- 57:48Speaker 2: to documents, files, and resources to study the supernatural and
- 57:53Speaker 2: a virtually unlimited travel budget to go throughout the world
- 57:56Speaker 2: and investigate other supernatural crimes, just like he does. You know,
- 58:01Speaker 2: Nick is he shows them and he even shows them
- 58:04Speaker 2: like his workshop. Nick immediately becomes like infatuated with the
- 58:09Speaker 2: like enamored with the collection of novels because she's like
- 58:14Speaker 2: because she being a medical expert, she's she's going into
- 58:18Speaker 2: going into medicine to become a nurse. You know, she
- 58:20Speaker 2: sees all these different texts about like supernatural biology, all
- 58:25Speaker 2: this other stuff. Like she's like, oh, my God, like
- 58:28Speaker 2: nerds heaven right there. And then, of course, Darby is
- 58:33Speaker 2: a little upset that Abe had been lying to them.
- 58:36Speaker 2: But they keep asking Abe, was this all a lie?
- 58:42Speaker 2: Was I just a case? And Abe was like, well, no. No,
- 58:48Speaker 2: with you and I, it's real. But yes, that was
- 58:53Speaker 2: just a happy coincidence. You and I was just a
- 58:55Speaker 2: happy coincidence. But For the most part, yes. The reason
- 58:59Speaker 2: why I was there in the first place was to
- 59:02Speaker 2: investigate the werewolf attacks. So A makes him the offer.
- 59:10Speaker 2: He explains everything to them that this is an opportunity
- 59:13Speaker 2: for them to basically switch careers and become supernatural law
- 59:19Speaker 2: enforcement where they can go back to their regular lives.
- 59:23Speaker 2: And they all look at each other and look back
- 59:24Speaker 2: at him and it's like, we're in.
- 59:25Speaker 3: Because what else are you going to do? Unlimited resources,
- 59:30Speaker 3: travel budget.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Hell yeah. I do it. Shoot.
- 59:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Shoot. And this is, that's pretty much the end
- 59:37Speaker 2: of the, uh, of the book. At the end of
- 59:39Speaker 2: the book, he makes the offer, uh, age makes them
- 59:42Speaker 2: the offer and there, and Brian's like, fuck it. We're in.
- 59:49Speaker 2: And that's the end of board gay werewolf. And, uh,
- 59:54Speaker 2: this is actually, uh, there's actually a sequel to this book.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Shy trans Banshee.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Yes. And I thought like, see when I first saw
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: this book and I saw that there was already a
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: sequel to it. I, I assumed this was going to
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: be like another one of those romance novels where it's
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: just basically anthology where it's not, the next novel isn't
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: going to be centered around the main character from the
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: first book, but like a different character and their romantic story.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: But now that I've read this, this is not a, well,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: this is one, not a romance novel.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: This is more, like it definitely falls into like a,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: like a horror thriller category, but also it's satirical. It's funny.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: And you know, it's, it gets a different perspective on
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: what it's like to be like on what it's like
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: to be a, you know, being gay and then also
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: having to deal with being a werewolf. Cause like most stories, like,
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: you know, especially like in Hollywood lately, when it comes
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: to werewolf stories, it's, they've really romanticized it. There's like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: especially with Twilight, like Twilight really romanticized werewolf, like, like
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: lycanthropy and, being a werewolf um that movie werewolves came
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: out and uh came out in 2024 2025 it's not
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: one where it's basically the purge but everyone turns into
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: werewolves um once a year yeah yeah uh they really
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: romanticized it they didn't they don't really talk about like
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: they don't really like go into like how being a
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: world can really affect your day-to-day life And then it also, like,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: talks about, like, it deals with, like, it touches on
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: topics of toxic masculinity, how pyramid schemes basically target people
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: who are vulnerable and, you know, have nothing else going
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: for their lives. And it offers, like, a quick and
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: basically entices them with the option to make money quick. Right?
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: And just, like, also like building a sense of community
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: because like pyramid schemes like that really like convince you
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: like yeah we're all in together we're all here to
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: make money together we're all here doing it together but
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: it's like no it's everyone for themselves yeah literally yeah
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: like if you if you don't make money the company
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: doesn't make money the company doesn't make money you don't
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: make money kind of deal you know it's like like
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: what you make they make and if you don't make
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: it they don't make it whatever it's really and it's
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: really toxic and I related to that because I almost
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: got pulled into a pyramid scheme at one point. Good
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: thing I didn't last because it was very toxic and
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: they made a lot of promises like, yeah, you're going
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: to make a lot of money here, but no. You're
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: just selling a lot of shit that you can't really
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: sell and it was not fun. It was probably the
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: worst decision of my life and I'm never going to
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: do that again. But I definitely say like, this is
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: a four out of five read, like, you know, four
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: stars out of five. It was a good, I love
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: the book, you know, and after reading it and now
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: that I know that, like I read it, I read
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: a quick summary of the next book. I realized, okay, cool.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: It's a direct sequel. You know, it's still going to
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: be with the same main characters, but now it's going
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: to be involving a shy trans banshee.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Love that. Yeah. So I'm planning, I'm hoping you're going
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: to read it.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Yeah. I got to double check if it's out. Cause
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: I didn't see it there. It came out.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: I think it came out last October.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: October, 2025. I think. Let me see. No, sorry. June 4th, 2026. Okay, cool.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: It's already out though. I think I already have it
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: on my book list. Yeah, I do. I want to
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: buy more books, but I already, I still have like
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: a whole, my whole. Wall. I mean, yeah.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: So do I. So do I.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: I mean, I like, I finished reading. I just finished
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: reading the book below. It's a mock fan story. Also
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: spoiler alert guys. After the next book that I'll be
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: reviewing for the month of, for, you know, the month
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: of Halloween. is a book called Below, and it's a
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Mothman story. But yeah, after I read it, I'd just
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: gone to that new Barnes & Noble that opened down
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: the street from my place, and they had the next
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: book in the series for the Paradise One series.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: Ooh, yeah.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Erebus 13. And I was like, I didn't realize
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: that was out already. I was behooved. I was like, what?
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: This is out?
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: So yeah, I snatched up and I was like, okay,
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: well this is going to the front of my to
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: be read.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Cause like, I'm like, Oh, I have so many other
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: books to read, but this one is like already like, yeah,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: it's kind of like dungeon crawler Carl. It's a series
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: that I've been reading and it's good.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: Yeah. And I love it. And the next book has
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: just come out. So I'm like, I gotta read it.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I gotta read it.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I gots to read it.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: But yeah, Yeah, but after finishing Below, I wanted to
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: take a break from some of the books on my
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: to-be-read that I've been reading. Because lately I've been feeling
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: like I'm forcing myself to read these books when I
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: shouldn't be forcing myself to read them. I should be
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: just reading them. So I decided, okay, I'm going to
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: take a break and go read something else. I'm still reading.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: I'm going to take a break and read something else
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: that's a little bit less serious, something that's a little
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: bit more immediately enticing. I'm reading another book. I have
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: two different stacks of to-be-read books. I have my physical
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: to-be-read and my e-book to-be-read. I was like, all right, well,
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I've already killed two or three books on my physical
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: to-be-read because I killed Parade of Horribles. I finally finished that,
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: and then I read Bored Gay Werewolf, and then I
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: read Below. So I was like, alright, I need to
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: take a break from the physical media and go and
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: take care of some of the stuff on my e-books,
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: because there were a bunch of e-books that I've been
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: wanting to read. But yeah, so that's been my journey
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: so far. So this is the first book we're reviewing
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: for the, what are we calling it this month? Just.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: What should we call this month? Because this is also going.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: To be the.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: How many years has Spook been around?
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: Since what, 2020?
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I think so. Let me double check.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Because this is also going to be the anniversary of.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Book Watchers.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I mean, granted, it's the anniversary of all the podcasts
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: because all the podcasts started the week of Halloween.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Let me see.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: Book watchers has been going, going on since.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Oh, oh my. Okay. Okay.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: No, this one did not start in October. Fun fact.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: This one, this podcast started June 17th, 2021. It started
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: the following summer.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: Yeah, because I remember, I figured it was like either
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: 2021 or 2020 because I remember you were talking about,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: you already had like a bunch of other book, like podcasts.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: I already had a bunch of podcasts. I had Void.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: And Spook and Tea of the Gods going. Yeah, I
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: had those going at least.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: I don't know. What do we want to call this?
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Book of horrors.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Month of horrors.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: I don't know the month of horrors.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: Maybe just our Halloween specials.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: TBA to be determined. I'm going to, I'm going to
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: think of some quirky name.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I mean, I'll be in this, I'll be in the,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: I'll be in the title. I'm sure.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: But yeah, I'll ponder, I'll ponder on it or we'll
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: ponder on it.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: So anyway, as I was saying, this is the this
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: is the first book that we are reviewing for the
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: month of October. We're doing something like horror themes, definitely
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: a little bit of gay themes. Oh, actually I'm an idiot.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: I almost forgot. So below is not the other book
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: I'm going to be reviewing because it's board, gay werewolf
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: and pinata.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Oh, Piñata, that's right.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: I can't believe I almost forgot about that one. And
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: I literally just read it. So, yes. So this is
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: the first book of the Halloween series that we're doing.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: The next book that I will be reviewing is called Piñata.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: I reviewed this book because it is a horror novel.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: It is written by a Latin American author. And it
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: is also it's very Latin American themed. It's themed from like,
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: you know, not things from Mexico and also Aztec and
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Mexica themes. like mythology and uh you know it's it's
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: dealing with a uh with aztec demons all right and
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: it was it was lit this was a really good
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: book um honestly last year when we were trying to
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: do because i wanted to do something latin american themed
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: because also not only is it halloween but dia de
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: los muertos is coming up and i love i love
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: dia de los muertos and I live in San Antonio
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: and San Antonio Dia de los Muertos is becoming like,
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: it's very popular. It's popping off here. This month alone,
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: there's like already like a lot of events being plans.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Like we have a botanical gardens here and they have
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: like some, they have some Katrine art installations. Katrine as
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: in like the skeleton. Cause there's a, like the patron
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: figure of Dia de los Muertos is called El Katrine.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: And she's like a, she's just a skeleton. And, you know,
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: so there's a lot of Dia de los Muertos themes
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: going on this month that I'm going to try to
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: go to. There's a Dia de los Muertos parade, river
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: parade coming up at the end of the month, at
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: the end of October, like the 23rd or something.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I got to look at the dates. Actually, I really
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: want to do these. I really do want to do
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: some of these events. But yeah, since like, since it's
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: not just Halloween, like my books was like I'm doing,
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: my two books are going to be Bored Gay Werewolf
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: and Piñata. Yeah. And I'm thinking of this for the
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: spirit of not only Halloween, but for the Adelos Marcos.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: And you know what? Do below, too. Do below, too.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Since I'm going to be doing some stuff for November. Yeah.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: If you could do below, that'd be for October as well.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: I've already finished it.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: My second book, I'm not going to be able to
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: get now my last book, and this is going to
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: be the book that's going to be released. It's going
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: to be the episode that's going to be released on, um,
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: the week of Halloween. I'm doing a book that's not
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: coming out until the end of September, September 29th. So
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: it's going to be a last minute read, but it's
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: from T King Fisher.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Which we know is my favorite. She's one of my favorites.
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: And she's doing, um, a book on, Oh God, what's
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: his name?
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Baldur's gate. It's a prequel. It's about the vampire. Oh yeah.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah. That one.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Yeah. I can't think of his.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Name at the moment, but she's writing a book about
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: a prequel about his story prior to, um, Baldur's gate three.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, I'm already here. I mean, I
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: love T Kingfisher. So, uh, yeah, I'm sad. I'm sad.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: I'm sad.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: So, um, yeah, that's going to be a last minute
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: read for me read real quickly to get through. But, um, yeah, anyway, uh,
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: catch us for the rest of this month. We'll be
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: do spooky stuff until then.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Bye. Bye.
