And today we're talking about feelings. How we feel. Luna: Oh, like emotions? In Spanish? Lucas: Exactly. Three basic ones: happy, sad, and tired. In Spanish: feliz, triste, and cansado. Luna: Feliz. That sounds like 'happy' already. Lucas: It does. So to say 'I am happy', you say 'Estoy feliz'. Let's try that. Luna: Estoy feliz. Lucas: Perfect. Estoy feliz. Now, 'I am sad' — 'Estoy triste'. Luna: Estoy triste. Lucas: Good. And 'I am tired' — 'Estoy cansado'. Luna: Estoy cansado. Lucas: Yes. Remember, if you're a woman, you'd say 'cansada'. But we'll stick with -o for now. Luna: Okay, so estoy feliz, estoy triste, estoy cansado. Simple enough. Lucas: Right. And you can ask someone 'How are you?' in Spanish: '¿Cómo estás?'. Luna: ¿Cómo estás? That's like 'How are you?' Lucas: Exactly. So if I ask you '¿Cómo estás?', you could answer 'Estoy bien' — 'I'm fine'. Luna: Estoy bien. Or 'Estoy feliz'? Lucas: Sure, if you're feeling happy. Let's do a quick exchange. I'll ask you: ¿Cómo estás? Luna: Estoy feliz. Lucas: Ah, that's great. I'm happy too. Estoy feliz. Luna: See, we're both happy. Lucas: Now let's practice with a tiny scene. Imagine you come home after a long day. Luna: Oof, I can imagine. Lucas: Someone asks '¿Cómo estás?' and you say 'Estoy cansado'. Luna: Estoy cansado. Yeah, that would be me after work. Lucas: And if something nice happens, like a surprise, you could say 'Estoy feliz'. Luna: Like when I find out there's extra dessert. Lucas: Exactly. Or if you hear sad news, 'Estoy triste'. Luna: Estoy triste. Okay, I think I've got it. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: Estoy feliz. Luna: Estoy feliz. Lucas: Estoy triste. Luna: Estoy triste. Lucas: Estoy cansado.
