Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, February 4th.
- 0:11Don't waste your season. Have you ever looked back on a
- 0:14moment and thought I had more time, I had more ability, I just
- 0:18didn't use it? Maybe it was a class you could
- 0:21have taken more seriously, a friendship you could have
- 0:24invested in, or a season where you knew God was nudging you,
- 0:28but you kept putting it off. Regret has a way of showing up
- 0:32when opportunities pass us by. Proverbs chapter 10, verses 4 to
- 0:365 speak straight into that feeling.
- 0:39It tells us that a slack hand leads to lack, but the hand of
- 0:42the diligent brings increase. It says the one who gathers in
- 0:46summer is wise, but the one who sleeps during harvest brings
- 0:49shame. In other words, timing matters.
- 0:53There are seasons when effort counts more than later excuses.
- 0:56What you do now shapes what you experience next.
- 0:59Psalm 14 adds another layer. It says the Lord looks down from
- 1:04heaven to see if there are any who understand, any who truly
- 1:07seek after God. That's sobering.
- 1:10God isn't just watching outcomes, He's watching pursuit.
- 1:14He's not impressed by busy lives that ignore Him, but he is drawn
- 1:18to hearts that actively seek Him in the middle of everyday life.
- 1:22Then we see this lived out powerfully.
- 1:24In Acts chapter 4. Peter and John are standing
- 1:28before powerful leaders who are questioning them.
- 1:31These leaders noticed something surprising.
- 1:34Acts chapter 4 verse 13 says they saw their boldness and
- 1:38realized they were ordinary, uneducated men and they were
- 1:41astonished. Why?
- 1:43Because they recognized that these men had been with Jesus.
- 1:47Peter and John didn't waste their season walking with him.
- 1:50They listened. They learned they were changed,
- 1:53and when pressure came, what had been planted earlier showed up
- 1:56as courage. This is such an important
- 1:59reminder for us. You don't drift into spiritual
- 2:02strength. You don't accidentally become
- 2:04bold in faith. It's built quietly, daily, in
- 2:07the seasons that don't feel dramatic.
- 2:10Prayer when no one sees. Obedience when it's
- 2:13inconvenient. Choosing diligence when it would
- 2:15be easier to sleep through the harvest.
- 2:17Your current season matters more than you think.
- 2:21The habits you're forming now are shaping the person you're
- 2:23becoming. God is inviting you not to waste
- 2:26what He's given you, but to lean in, seek Him, and stay faithful.
- 2:31And one day, when pressure comes or opportunity knocks, people
- 2:35will notice something different about you, too.
- 2:37Not because you're impressive, but because you've been with
- 2:39Jesus. Let's pray.
- 2:43Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that this season of
- 2:46my life matters. Help me not to waste the
- 2:48opportunities you've placed in front of me.
- 2:52Teach me to be diligent with my time, my faith, and my
- 2:54relationships. Stir my heart to seek You daily,
- 2:58not halfway, but fully, and let your presence shape me so
- 3:02clearly that others can see I've been with Jesus.
- 3:05In Jesus name, Amen. What if the way you pray changed
- 3:09because you truly knew who God is?

- 4:29Proverbs chapter 10 verses 4 to 5 World English Bible.
- 4:33He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the
- 4:36diligent brings wealth. He who gathers in summer is a
- 4:40wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who
- 4:43causes shame. Psalm chapter 14 World English
- 4:47Bible for the chief musician by David.
- 4:49The fool has said in his heart there is no God.
- 4:52They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds.
- 4:55There is no one who does good. Yahweh looked down from heaven
- 4:58on the children of men to see if there were any who understood
- 5:01who sought after God. They have all gone aside.
- 5:04They have together become corrupt.
- 5:07There is no one who does good. No, not one have all the workers
- 5:10of iniquity no knowledge who eat up my people as they eat bread,
- 5:13and don't call on Yahweh. There they were in great fear,
- 5:17for God is in the generation of the righteous.
- 5:19You frustrate the plan of the poor, because Yahweh is His
- 5:22refuge. Oh, that the salvation of Israel
- 5:25would come out of Zion. When Yahweh restores the
- 5:28fortunes of His people, then Jacob shall rejoice and Israel
- 5:32shall be glad. Acts, chapter 4.
- 5:34World English Bible As they spoke to the people, the priests
- 5:38and the captain of the Temple and the Sadducees came to them,
- 5:41being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in
- 5:44Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
- 5:47They laid hands on them and put them in custody until the next
- 5:50day, for it was now evening. But many of those who heard the
- 5:53word believed, and the number of the men came to be about 5000 in
- 5:58the morning. Their rulers, elders, and
- 6:00scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.
- 6:03Anas, the high priest, was there with Caiaphas, John, Alexander,
- 6:07and as many as were relatives of the high priest.
- 6:09When they had stood Peter and John in the middle of them, they
- 6:12inquired, By what power or in what name have you done this?
- 6:16Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, You rulers
- 6:20of the people and elders of Israel, If we are examined today
- 6:23concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this
- 6:27man has been healed? May it be known to you all and
- 6:30to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ
- 6:33of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead,
- 6:37this man stands here before you, hole in him.
- 6:40He is the stone which was regarded as worthless by you,
- 6:43the builders, which has become the head of the corner.
- 6:46There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name
- 6:49under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved.
- 6:53Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had
- 6:56perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they
- 6:59marvelled, They recognized that they had been with Jesus.
- 7:02Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could
- 7:05say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them
- 7:08to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
- 7:11saying, What shall we do to these men?
- 7:15Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as
- 7:18can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can't
- 7:21deny it. But so that this spreads no
- 7:24further among the people, let's threaten them that from now on
- 7:27they don't speak to anyone in this name.
- 7:30They called them and commanded them not to speak at all, nor
- 7:33teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered
- 7:36them, whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you
- 7:39rather than to God, judge for yourselves.
- 7:42For we can't help telling the things which we saw and heard.
- 7:45When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding
- 7:49no way to punish them because of the people.
- 7:51For everyone glorified God for that which was done.
- 7:55For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was
- 7:58more than 40 years old. Being let go, they came to their
- 8:01own company and reported all that the chief priests and the
- 8:04elders had said to them. When they heard it, they lifted
- 8:07up their voice to God with 1 accord and said, Oh Lord, you
- 8:11are God who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is
- 8:14in them. Who by the mouth of your servant
- 8:16David said, Why do the nation's rage and the people's plot a
- 8:20vain thing? The kings of the earth take a
- 8:22stand, and the rulers plot together against the Lord and
- 8:25against his Christ. For truly both Herod and Pontius
- 8:29Pillate with the Gentiles and the people of Israel were
- 8:32gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you
- 8:35anointed to do whatever your hand and your counsel for
- 8:38ordained to happen. Now, Lord, look at their threats
- 8:41and grant to Your servants to speak Your word with all
- 8:44boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and that
- 8:47signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy
- 8:50servant Jesus. When they had prayed, the place
- 8:53was shaken where they were gathered together.
- 8:55They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the
- 8:58Word of God with boldness. The multitude of those who
- 9:01believed were of 1 heart and soul.
- 9:04Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he
- 9:06possessed was his own, but they had all things in common with
- 9:10great power. The apostles gave their
- 9:12testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
- 9:15Great grace was on them all, for neither was there among them any
- 9:19who lacked. For as many as were owners of
- 9:21lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of the
- 9:25things that were sold and laid them at the apostles feet and
- 9:29distribution was made to each according as anyone had need.
- 9:32Jose is who by the apostles was also called Barnabas, which is
- 9:36being interpreted son of encouragement, A Levite, a man
- 9:40of Cyprus by race having a field sold it and brought the money
- 9:44and laid it at the apostles feet.
