Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 1: It may be over for Andrew Cuomo.
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Now on the Voice of New York.
- 0:03Speaker 2: It's the Mark Simonne Show on seven to ten.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Wor well, it's the day before election day. We'll get
- 0:11Speaker 1: you all the latest on the election in just a second.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We'll also get to we'll get to the World Series,
- 0:17Speaker 1: we'll get to the marathon, and a whole lot more.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It's a tough day to day, not just because of
- 0:23Speaker 1: the election, but we're on standard time, no more daylight
- 0:26Speaker 1: saving time. It was brutal yesterday dark at five o'clock.
- 0:30Speaker 1: It was really strange. And there's all sorts of all
- 0:37Speaker 1: these studies here, all kinds of studies, actual medical group
- 0:40Speaker 1: studies that daylight saving time takes a toll on your
- 0:44Speaker 1: health in all sorts of ways, disruptures circadian rhythm and
- 0:48Speaker 1: all that. So it takes a little getting used to it.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And that getting dark at five o'clock all the more
- 0:54Speaker 1: reason we got to stop with this daylight saving time.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Now there is a bill to get rid of daylight
- 0:59Speaker 1: I mean to get rid of standard time, just stay
- 1:01Speaker 1: on daylight saving time all year. It's the Sunshine Protection Act,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and it's been stalled in Congress for years and years
- 1:09Speaker 1: and years. Hopefully it gets passed at some point.
- 1:12Speaker 3: So.
- 1:14Speaker 1: We'll get to the mayoral race right now, let me
- 1:17Speaker 1: call for a second. Here you go, they're just getting
- 1:21Speaker 1: choked up about this mayoral race. So what do we know? Nothing?
- 1:26Speaker 1: Absolutely nothing. You've seen all these polls. They're not good polls.
- 1:30Speaker 1: They're pretty cheap, crummy poles, which is what you see
- 1:33Speaker 1: in public all the time. There's two kinds of poles.
- 1:35Speaker 1: There's the public polls, which are very inexpensive, they're not
- 1:39Speaker 1: very good, they're not very reliable. Then there's the highly accurate,
- 1:44Speaker 1: very expensive, private internal polls that campaigns do. But in
- 1:49Speaker 1: this mayoral race, none of the campaigns have done them,
- 1:52Speaker 1: so we don't have any access to real, real numbers. Now,
- 1:55Speaker 1: the other problem with the public polls, besides the fact
- 1:57Speaker 1: they're cheap, they just do a few hundred people. They
- 1:59Speaker 1: don't care fully select them very often, they just rig
- 2:03Speaker 1: The metrics are all wrong. They oversample Democrats under sample Republicans.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You got the problem of nothing but cheap, crummy polls.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Then you got a couple of other problems. You got
- 2:13Speaker 1: Curtis tends to underpole all the time. So yeah, that's
- 2:18Speaker 1: one problem, Mam donnie. They think might be overpolling Cuomo
- 2:22Speaker 1: is in a weird situation. He's not a major party candidate,
- 2:26Speaker 1: He's on some weird third party. It's gonna be tough.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And we also remember as a result of that, Cuomo's
- 2:33Speaker 1: place on the ballot is way down. If you get
- 2:36Speaker 1: the ballot, it's Mam Donnie Curtis. Those are the two
- 2:39Speaker 1: names at the top of the ballot. You got to
- 2:41Speaker 1: go eight spaces down to get to Cuomo. So let's
- 2:46Speaker 1: just go over all the numbers, though, what we do
- 2:49Speaker 1: no one voter turnout is through the roof. It's extraordinarily
- 2:53Speaker 1: high voter turnout for the early voting, which ended yesterday.
- 2:59Speaker 1: There's no voting today. Early voting is over. The actual
- 3:03Speaker 1: election day is tomorrow. Make sure you get out and vote.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But in the early voting, seven hundred and thirty five
- 3:10Speaker 1: thousand turned out. Three quarters of a million people turned out,
- 3:15Speaker 1: close to a million. This is extraordinary. Normally you'd get
- 3:18Speaker 1: about two hundred thousand, that's really all you'd expect. This
- 3:22Speaker 1: has been the biggest turnout we've seen since I'm trying
- 3:27Speaker 1: to think it. Well, you got one point five million
- 3:31Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one, one point five million when Mark
- 3:34Speaker 1: Green was against Bloomberg. I remember that was right after
- 3:38Speaker 1: nine to eleven, so that was one thing. But no,
- 3:43Speaker 1: that was Giuliani bloom But so you got one point
- 3:45Speaker 1: five million back then. Twenty twenty one was the highest
- 3:50Speaker 1: big Apple turnout since the biggest ever was John Lindsay
- 3:54Speaker 1: nineteen sixty nine, two and a half million. We may
- 3:58Speaker 1: get there, you never know. But we're going to get
- 3:59Speaker 1: to two billion easily obviously, and we may get more
- 4:04Speaker 1: than that. So it's going to be huge, absolutely huge
- 4:07Speaker 1: to turnout. That makes the polls even more unreliable since
- 4:11Speaker 1: they're missing all of this stuff. People watching at the
- 4:14Speaker 1: polls say it's a lot of older people, a lot
- 4:16Speaker 1: of over fifty, a lot of over sixty that tends
- 4:19Speaker 1: not to go for Mom Donnie. But there's a lot
- 4:22Speaker 1: of younger people voting too. So one thing the polls
- 4:25Speaker 1: miss two things, the high turnout the extra people that
- 4:29Speaker 1: they didn't count on, and the other thing they miss
- 4:31Speaker 1: are the Mam Donni voters. It could be more than
- 4:33Speaker 1: we think that this is just a possibility. These posters
- 4:37Speaker 1: tend to look for likely voters, and Mom Donnie is
- 4:40Speaker 1: getting brand new first time voters that the polls usually miss.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So we don't really know anything from these polls. If
- 4:47Speaker 1: you take the average of the polls, if you go
- 4:51Speaker 1: over all the polls, the best thing to do is
- 4:53Speaker 1: you put all the polls together, combine them into one poll.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That's what Real Clear Politics does. In the Real Clear
- 5:01Speaker 1: Politics average, which is the poll of all the polls,
- 5:05Speaker 1: it's Mamdani forty five percent, Cuomo thirty one percent, Sliwa
- 5:11Speaker 1: eighteen percent. But again Sliva tends to underpole, so we'll see.
- 5:16Speaker 1: There's been a lot of ads. You've been bombarded for
- 5:19Speaker 1: the last two days. The one thing that was missing
- 5:22Speaker 1: from this race. She got to drive Mamdanni's negatives up
- 5:25Speaker 1: into the fifties. And that requires big money from these
- 5:30Speaker 1: super packs. Billionaires dumped a fortune into these super packs.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And it's not the campaigns, it's these superpacks that run
- 5:37Speaker 1: the ads attacking Mamdanni day and night, bringing up all
- 5:41Speaker 1: the bad stuff about him, pointing out all the dangers.
- 5:44Speaker 1: You bombarred everybody with these ads, and that drives his
- 5:47Speaker 1: negatives way up, and that cost him the race. Well,
- 5:50Speaker 1: it didn't happen this time. It started to happen yesterday,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but yesterday's a little too late. It should have been
- 5:55Speaker 1: going on for weeks. The big donors that normally contribute
- 5:59Speaker 1: to this were afraid of offending Mom Donnie, so they
- 6:03Speaker 1: didn't put the money in. But they're doing it, some
- 6:06Speaker 1: of them. Bloomberg has put money in. A lot of
- 6:08Speaker 1: them now doing it on behalf of Cuomo. But it's
- 6:12Speaker 1: been a very strange race. A couple of things have
- 6:14Speaker 1: happened with Mom Donnie. Even though he seems to be
- 6:18Speaker 1: doing well. The Queen's Democrat Party refused to endorse him.
- 6:22Speaker 1: They said they would not endorse him. Now, remember he's
- 6:24Speaker 1: the assemblyman from Queen's This is his party, this Queen's
- 6:27Speaker 1: Democrat Party. They refuse to endorse him. Everybody has noticed that.
- 6:31Speaker 1: The New York Times, although they've really been helping Mom
- 6:35Speaker 1: Donnie with these puff pieces, these great, wonderful lifestyle pieces
- 6:40Speaker 1: on Mom Donnie, and these puff pieces just flattering the
- 6:44Speaker 1: hell out of him, they have not officially endorsed him.
- 6:48Speaker 1: President Obama was here yesterday campaigning for Mikey Cheryl, and
- 6:53Speaker 1: he was asked over and over again about endorsing Mom Donnie,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and he won't do it. He won't do it, refused
- 7:00Speaker 1: to endorse Mom Donnie. Now, Obama said he talked with
- 7:03Speaker 1: Mom Donnie on the phone Saturday, that they had a
- 7:06Speaker 1: long conversation, he said. His advisor said that he told
- 7:12Speaker 1: Mom Donnie to come to him for advice or consultation
- 7:15Speaker 1: whenever he wants. Happy to advise him, guide him, but
- 7:17Speaker 1: he will not endorse him. Now, the Mom Donny campaign
- 7:22Speaker 1: was asked about that, how come he won't endorse you,
- 7:24Speaker 1: refused to endorse you, and the spokesman who used to
- 7:28Speaker 1: work for Obama said, well, President Obama doesn't endorse in
- 7:32Speaker 1: local races. It's a long standing rule post presidency. Well,
- 7:39Speaker 1: we checked. He's been endorsing mayors all over the place.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Apparently this guy was lying from the Mam Donnie campaign.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Obama has endorsed LA Mayor Karen Bassi, endorsed her predecessor, Garcetti.
- 7:52Speaker 1: He endorsed the Chicago mayor Rama Manuel in his election.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I could go on on even smaller races. He endorsed
- 7:58Speaker 1: Rick Chrisman for mayor of Saint Petersburg. He even endorsed
- 8:03Speaker 1: Caroline Simmons for mayor of Stamford. So the Mom Donnie
- 8:05Speaker 1: campaign was lying. He does mayoral candidates, but refuses to
- 8:09Speaker 1: do it for Mom Donnie. Now there are people endorsing
- 8:12Speaker 1: Mom Donnie like crazy, a lot of Hollywood types, a
- 8:15Speaker 1: lot of you see that. It's on my Twitter that
- 8:17Speaker 1: Mandy Patinkin, great actor, Broadway star, he does a video
- 8:23Speaker 1: with Mom Donnie where he's just drooling all over him,
- 8:25Speaker 1: just gushing all over them. We gotta win.
- 8:27Speaker 3: He's back.
- 8:28Speaker 1: A lot of these Hollywood types really out there fighting
- 8:31Speaker 1: for Mom Donnie. And do you remember this name from
- 8:33Speaker 1: the past, Ruth Messenger. Remember she was the Manhattan Borough president.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Ruth Messenger as a politician from the seventies eighties, tried
- 8:41Speaker 1: to run for bigger out never made it. But she
- 8:44Speaker 1: lives in a fancy building, Central Park West, Upper West Side.
- 8:48Speaker 1: A lot of wealthy tenants there. Hurst lived there, Armani
- 8:52Speaker 1: lived there. She's got the building going crazy. Offended the
- 8:55Speaker 1: hell out of them because she was running around dropping
- 8:57Speaker 1: off flyers at everybody's door, at everybody's mailbox, telling them,
- 9:02Speaker 1: we've got to tax the rich. We've got to get
- 9:05Speaker 1: Mom Donnie elected. This is a Ruth Messenger. We've got
- 9:07Speaker 1: to get Mom Donnie. And we believe he's most strongly
- 9:11Speaker 1: committed to making New York more affordable and fairer. Residents
- 9:16Speaker 1: in the building, furious, fuming, and she actually said, we've
- 9:20Speaker 1: got to tax the rich. This is the building they
- 9:22Speaker 1: live in. Now, let me spring up something. There's a
- 9:26Speaker 1: lot of Jewish organizations, a few, not a lot. There's
- 9:29Speaker 1: a few that were backing Mom Donnie. There were some
- 9:33Speaker 1: in Brooklyn that seemed to be backing Mom Donnie. It's horrible.
- 9:37Speaker 1: How could they back Mom Donnie. Well, if you talk
- 9:39Speaker 1: to them off the record, they may have endorsed them,
- 9:42Speaker 1: but they're all not voting. They're all voting against Mom Donnie.
- 9:45Speaker 1: They may have endorsed them publicly just to make sure
- 9:48Speaker 1: they're on a good side of him in case, but
- 9:50Speaker 1: they're not voting for None of them are voting for him.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And that's what really counts New Jersey. I don't know.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I don't know. It's pretty close. In fact, a lot
- 10:02Speaker 1: of these polls have Mikey Cheryl with a very very
- 10:05Speaker 1: slight lead. I don't know. I can't tell in New Jersey,
- 10:09Speaker 1: just can't tell what's going to happen. But there's a
- 10:12Speaker 1: couple of things. New Jersey has never gone with the
- 10:16Speaker 1: same party three times in a row, so Democrats have
- 10:21Speaker 1: had their two times. They're due for a public and
- 10:23Speaker 1: I don't know if that holds up that whole thing,
- 10:26Speaker 1: but they normally don't do it three times in a row.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Mikey Cheryl. She hasn't got much of a campaign, very
- 10:32Speaker 1: weak campaign. Her big point that she's pushing with voters
- 10:36Speaker 1: is that she can fly a helicopter. I don't know
- 10:40Speaker 1: what that has to do with being governor. I mean,
- 10:42Speaker 1: you go join the state troopers. I think they use helicopters.
- 10:45Speaker 1: You could help them, but flying a helicopter, no big deal.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And the other part of the campaign is we hate
- 10:52Speaker 1: Trump and Chitdarelli, who's not that close to Trump. He
- 10:55Speaker 1: has no real association with Trump, but she keeps you pushing.
- 10:58Speaker 4: That on every single occasion. Jack has decided I'm gonna
- 11:03Speaker 4: defend Trump. He even gives Trump and ah, guys.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I give Trump and f Yeah, okay, great. He gave
- 11:14Speaker 1: him an A and something seventeen years ago that he's
- 11:16Speaker 1: bringing up.
- 11:17Speaker 5: They donated hundreds of millions to his campaign and they're
- 11:20Speaker 5: now getting rich off the higher utility prices that New
- 11:23Speaker 5: Jersey families are being forced to pay.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, she didn't have that. A great boy, she's that
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'm kind of irritating I listened to. So apparently they
- 11:32Speaker 1: did some internal polling. They saw they got alarmed, so
- 11:36Speaker 1: they called for Obama. Obama endorsed her a couple of
- 11:40Speaker 1: weeks ago with a video. That's the endorsement. But apparently
- 11:43Speaker 1: they saw trouble. They didn't they didn't like what they
- 11:47Speaker 1: were seeing pollwise and their pulling, so they got Obama
- 11:50Speaker 1: to come in and campaign for her. And he does
- 11:53Speaker 1: what he does. He takes off the suit, he puts
- 11:56Speaker 1: on that work shirt, and he instead of sounding like
- 11:58Speaker 1: a like an Ivy League graduate, all sudden he talks
- 12:01Speaker 1: with that you know, he does that yelling and screaming.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And there he was in New Jersey this weekend.
- 12:06Speaker 6: You've got a candidate for governor.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Governor who's a.
- 12:09Speaker 6: Proven fighter, who's got a track record. I'm getting stuff done,
- 12:15Speaker 6: somebody who sees you and knows your struggles.
- 12:19Speaker 1: She has a track record of getting things done. I
- 12:22Speaker 1: don't know what you got done. But see now, Normally
- 12:24Speaker 1: when you talk to Obama, he said, yes, the governor,
- 12:27Speaker 1: he's a track record of getting things done. But when
- 12:30Speaker 1: he's on the campaign trail a governor getting things done,
- 12:33Speaker 1: there's no g on the end of any word anymore.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It's not getting anything done, it's getting anything. He puts
- 12:38Speaker 1: on that fake voice for the Campay here he is
- 12:40Speaker 1: in New Jersey.
- 12:41Speaker 6: You have a candidate worth being excited about. You've got
- 12:48Speaker 6: a future governor to be excited about.
- 12:50Speaker 1: In Microsoft, I got it, be honest. You know, when
- 12:54Speaker 1: I hear her voice, wait, can't yeah right, the way
- 12:57Speaker 1: she talks, it doesn't get me. I don't get too
- 12:59Speaker 1: excited about it.
- 13:00Speaker 4: On every single occasion, Jack has decided I'm gonna defend Trump.
- 13:06Speaker 4: He even gives Trump and.
- 13:07Speaker 1: A To be honest, I didn't get excited listening to that.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Maybe they donated hundreds of millions to his campaign and
- 13:13Speaker 5: they're now hitting.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Wrench on the higher until prices that.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You know, excited might not be the correct word. So
- 13:20Speaker 1: the mayor race, everybody out campaigning like crazy. And we'll
- 13:23Speaker 1: talk to Curtis in the next hour. Hey, Saturday Night Live,
- 13:26Speaker 1: we'll ask him about this. Saturday Night Live. The opening
- 13:31Speaker 1: sketch was about the mayor race, and they recreated the
- 13:34Speaker 1: mayoral debate in a lot of little New York detail
- 13:38Speaker 1: things only really New Yorkers would get. It's a show
- 13:41Speaker 1: that's seen around the country. I don't know if they
- 13:43Speaker 1: all get this. For instance, Curtis, there was a guy
- 13:46Speaker 1: playing Curtis, a guy playing Cuomo, a guy playing Mom Donnie.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Here's the Curtis character.
- 13:50Speaker 7: I'm thrilled to be here and not getting shot in
- 13:53Speaker 7: the back of a yellow cab five times by the
- 13:55Speaker 7: Gottis and Gambinos, as I was famously in nineteen nine,
- 14:00Speaker 7: nineteen ninety three, and ninety four. But I'm the right
- 14:04Speaker 7: choice to be you next mayor, no offense. My opponent's
- 14:07Speaker 7: mister Cuomo, and I believe I'm saying this right. Zoltah,
- 14:10Speaker 7: Rob Zombie.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That's pretty funny, but I don't know that most people
- 14:16Speaker 1: around the country get Curtis was shot by the mafia. First,
- 14:20Speaker 1: they beat him up with baseball bats. They didn't like
- 14:22Speaker 1: what he was saying about them on the air. He
- 14:24Speaker 1: was in the hospital, beatn to a pulp, and from
- 14:27Speaker 1: his hospital bed kept announcing them. It wouldn't stop. So
- 14:31Speaker 1: they watched his routine. They saw every morning, what time
- 14:35Speaker 1: he leaves, what time he hails a cab, And they
- 14:37Speaker 1: got a cab and pretended it was a regular cab,
- 14:42Speaker 1: And then they knew what time to drive by, and
- 14:43Speaker 1: they picked him up and they got him in the
- 14:45Speaker 1: back and they shot him five times, and it was
- 14:48Speaker 1: just like in The Godfather where there what's his name
- 14:50Speaker 1: says they shot him five five bullets and he's still alive. Well,
- 14:53Speaker 1: that's Curtis, And then of course went right back on
- 14:56Speaker 1: the air and started announcing him again. So you cannot
- 14:59Speaker 1: pressure Curtis. Cannot be done. If he stood up to that,
- 15:03Speaker 1: He's going to stand up to a couple of billionaires
- 15:05Speaker 1: calling I'm trying to bribe him out of the race.
- 15:07Speaker 1: We'll get to that one. He'll be with us next hour.
- 15:08Speaker 1: We'll ask him about that. But you can't pressure Curtis.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Nobody can get Curtis ever to give up or back down. Now,
- 15:15Speaker 1: the guy playing Cuomo played him as a sleazy, oily
- 15:18Speaker 1: old politician. This is the Cuomo character.
- 15:22Speaker 3: As we all know.
- 15:23Speaker 7: As soon as you are elected Maya, everyone in the
- 15:25Speaker 7: city immediately hates you. And in that way, I am
- 15:28Speaker 7: already one step out of the game.
- 15:31Speaker 1: So you know Clomo's got this. If you watch his ads,
- 15:35Speaker 1: he's ready day one. That's this big thing, said Mikey Cheryl.
- 15:40Speaker 1: She can fly a helicopter. He's supposed to vote for
- 15:42Speaker 1: this guy, I'm ready day one. You know, I've never
- 15:44Speaker 1: seen anybody anybody gets elected seems to be ready day one.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Can you think if anybody got elected and then called
- 15:52Speaker 1: in and said, I'm just not ready. I can't come in.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I'm not ready, So ready day one. Flying a helicopter
- 15:59Speaker 1: doesn't mean here. That's the guy playing mom, Donnie.
- 16:01Speaker 8: I want to be mayor so I can deliver a
- 16:03Speaker 8: better New York, free healthcare, affordable housing, free Wi Fi
- 16:08Speaker 8: As mayor, Can I make that happen? I'm not sure yet,
- 16:13Speaker 8: But together we're gonna find out that the answer is no.
- 16:19Speaker 1: All right, not bad, not bad, pretty good for satur
- 16:22Speaker 1: live anyway, we'll get back to the mayor all race.
- 16:24Speaker 1: We'll get to sixty minutes. Trump sat down with sixty
- 16:27Speaker 1: minutes for his very first interview since the takeover by
- 16:32Speaker 1: the good guys running CBS. Now we'll get to that.
- 16:35Speaker 1: We'll get to the marathon and a whole lot more
- 16:37Speaker 1: coming up. We'll take some calls. Next. Curtis will be
- 16:40Speaker 1: with us too. We'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred
- 16:43Speaker 1: three to two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten. Now
- 16:50Speaker 1: back to the.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Mark Simo Show on WOR.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Let's take some calls. Let's go to Danny and Queen's Danny,
- 16:59Speaker 1: how you do.
- 17:01Speaker 9: More than mark? Two points? First one is why does
- 17:05Speaker 9: the group of tatorial candidate New Jersey Cheryl? Why does
- 17:09Speaker 9: she refuse to use her real name of Rebecca Cheryl?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Get to the second point that doesn't.
- 17:15Speaker 9: Mean anything and call job the Republican Party in New
- 17:19Speaker 9: York that they would have allowed this debacle to occur
- 17:22Speaker 9: with Curtis Lever. Why can't they find a.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Well, Curtis is a good candidate. The problem with the
- 17:27Speaker 1: Republican Party, and you're absolutely right, is it's a tiny,
- 17:30Speaker 1: it's minuscule. Problem is if you're you know, if you're
- 17:33Speaker 1: a Democrat, they've got a massive party operation. They supply
- 17:36Speaker 1: you with everything, you know, a huge manpower staff. They got.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Most important thing is what they call the ground game.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Get everybody out to the vote, Knock on doors election day,
- 17:44Speaker 1: go pick up voters, bring them to pull Democratic ground
- 17:48Speaker 1: game is like sixty five thousand people. Republican Party they
- 17:51Speaker 1: claim eight hundred. But you're absolutely right. The Republican Party
- 17:55Speaker 1: is a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny little operation here in
- 17:58Speaker 1: New York City. Cratic party. It's a massive machine. Things
- 18:03Speaker 1: would be different if we could fix that. Let's go
- 18:05Speaker 1: to Mara in Nevada. Mara, how you doing so good?
- 18:08Speaker 10: I'm talking to you Chaw Vincent Mark. First, I got
- 18:11Speaker 10: a new member of the Golden Oldies philst she called
- 18:15Speaker 10: in ninety two. She's been listening to you for years.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Now.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Here is why I call you that They have like
- 18:21Speaker 1: a Golden Girls fan club. Half of them are names.
- 18:24Speaker 10: I know, we are we we love you, we love
- 18:26Speaker 10: you to keep it look Mark. The other day, Vincent
- 18:30Speaker 10: and I were commiserating about the outcome of the o
- 18:33Speaker 10: Belove in New York City. If Mondannie gets it now,
- 18:38Speaker 10: we don't understand why the bodega owners are backing him.
- 18:43Speaker 1: What's well, they're not. They're not. They're not, they're they're not. No,
- 18:46Speaker 1: that was just the union boss and many of them
- 18:48Speaker 1: have quit the union over it. But good point, Mara,
- 18:51Speaker 1: thanks for calling. You got to remember a lot of
- 18:52Speaker 1: times when they say the so and so union is back,
- 18:55Speaker 1: it's the union president because they candidate will offerm whatever,
- 18:59Speaker 1: off from all kinds of things to back them. That
- 19:01Speaker 1: happens a lot of times with the union big at
- 19:04Speaker 1: whatever automotive un back Obama. Meantime, all the workers are
- 19:09Speaker 1: voting against them. It's just the union boss in exchange
- 19:12Speaker 1: for stuff. Well publicly back them. Let's go to Dave
- 19:14Speaker 1: in Chicago. Dave, how you doing.
- 19:17Speaker 11: Good morning Mark. I'm doing very well, Thank you, Mark.
- 19:19Speaker 11: I read this Morning and Showbiz four one one Roger
- 19:22Speaker 11: Freeman's website that Gail King will not have her contract
- 19:26Speaker 11: renew due to sky Dance slash CBS. Now, can she
- 19:30Speaker 11: actually do a syndicated talk show? Does she have the talent?
- 19:33Speaker 1: She did that once years ago. She did that in
- 19:35Speaker 1: the nineties and it was a total bomb, complete disaster.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I remember she did it out from Hartford, Connecticut. But
- 19:40Speaker 1: it was the same you know people that do Oprah
- 19:43Speaker 1: her best friend. They syndicated disaster didn't last. Good, good question, Dave. Now,
- 19:49Speaker 1: the reason they get getting rid of Gail King, They're
- 19:51Speaker 1: just trying to figure out how to do it. She's
- 19:53Speaker 1: a nasty, nasty, vicious kind of They don't want a
- 19:56Speaker 1: lot of trouble. She's the kind of person that'll I'll
- 19:59Speaker 1: really go after him, being very careful. How they get
- 20:01Speaker 1: rid of her. The left wing people will tell you, well,
- 20:05Speaker 1: this is terrible. It's because she's liberal. It's because she's
- 20:07Speaker 1: in last place. It's the lowest rated, the last place
- 20:10Speaker 1: Network morning show and television every single day with her,
- 20:14Speaker 1: So it's just a no brainer to get rid of her.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Let's go to Mike and Florida. Mike, how you doing,
- 20:19Speaker 1: good morning, Mark, Yes, Mike.
- 20:21Speaker 12: This mayoral race is going to really illustrate one of
- 20:25Speaker 12: the great Democrat con jobs in the election history, I think,
- 20:29Speaker 12: because they put up two candidates, one not much different
- 20:32Speaker 12: than the other, so it's a sophie's choice, and the
- 20:35Speaker 12: result is going to also permanently work for a long
- 20:39Speaker 12: time kill the Republicans because they can all blame Curtis
- 20:44Speaker 12: for losing the race to Cuomo and it's gonna so
- 20:49Speaker 12: they accomplished two things at once, and it's really very interesting.
- 20:52Speaker 12: And it's also going to be interesting watching Mandani in
- 20:55Speaker 12: Islamic radical presiding over the next year's twenty fifth anniversary
- 21:00Speaker 12: nine to eleven.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Oh god, well, we don't know what's going to happen yet.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Let's not get ahead of ourselves. But a good point, Mike.
- 21:06Speaker 1: You don't blame Curtis or anything you want to blame.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Somebody blame Cuomo. He was so bad in the primary
- 21:12Speaker 1: he ran in the Democratic primary against Mom Donnie. Culomo
- 21:15Speaker 1: was so weak in the debates. He got beaten to
- 21:18Speaker 1: a pulp in both debates. I don't know what he
- 21:20Speaker 1: was doing as far as campaigning. He was like a zombie, slow,
- 21:24Speaker 1: doing nothing. He should have stopped this. Should have been
- 21:28Speaker 1: stopped in the primary. Blame Cuomo for it being a
- 21:31Speaker 1: total disaster in the primary. That's how Mom Donnie got
- 21:35Speaker 1: the Democratic nomination. And that's the dangerous part. One more.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Let's go to Mike and Long Island. Mike, what do
- 21:40Speaker 1: you want to say?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Hey, Mark, good morning morning. You've mentioned many times that
- 21:44Speaker 2: the governor can remove a mayor. My question is, if
- 21:47Speaker 2: Mom Donnie wins and Stephanic becomes governor, does she need
- 21:52Speaker 2: just cause to remove him?
- 21:53Speaker 1: What's the process she can remove No, fine, you just
- 21:57Speaker 1: find something you can remove him. I think the last
- 21:58Speaker 1: time it happened was Fdr Franklin Dolno. Roosevelt removed Jimmy Walker,
- 22:05Speaker 1: who was the mayor of New York. In that case,
- 22:07Speaker 1: they accused him of corruption, then they go after you,
- 22:10Speaker 1: and then he removed him. Actually, in that case, I
- 22:13Speaker 1: think Walker fled before getting removed. But it can be done.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Problem Miss Jkal won't do it. She's terrified of the
- 22:20Speaker 1: left primary in her she's got a run for re
- 22:24Speaker 1: election next year, so she's terrified of the left wing
- 22:27Speaker 1: of the party, so she won't have the guts to
- 22:29Speaker 1: do it. But again, if Stefanic gets elected, and if
- 22:33Speaker 1: Mom Donnie were to become mayor, that would be the
- 22:35Speaker 1: whole theme of the gubernatorial election. Who vows to remove
- 22:40Speaker 1: Mom Donnie? And half the votes for governor come from
- 22:43Speaker 1: New York, so it'd be a big, big issue. Hey,
- 22:45Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin not with us this week, but we'll get
- 22:49Speaker 1: to Howie Carr will fill in. We'll talk to Howie
- 22:51Speaker 1: Carr next on seven to ten WR.
- 22:55Speaker 3: On SEVENTENR he's more of the Marsh Show.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Well, hey, Howie Carr, the great radio host, talk show host.
- 23:05Speaker 1: You should be listening to him. You can hear him
- 23:07Speaker 1: on the iHeart app. On iHeart you can get his podcast. Also,
- 23:11Speaker 1: get his latest book, Mass Corruption, or any of his
- 23:13Speaker 1: best sellers. You just go to Howie Carshow dot com.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You get everything there Howie Carshow dot com. Howie Carr,
- 23:20Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Very good? What's going to happen tomorrow. Does Cuomo have
- 23:25Speaker 3: a chance?
- 23:27Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you, how did we get in
- 23:28Speaker 1: a situation where we've got to choose between a communist,
- 23:31Speaker 1: wacko nut job, a sleazy old politician who just resigned
- 23:35Speaker 1: in disgrace from his last job. And we like Curtis
- 23:39Speaker 1: but everybody says he can't win. How did we get
- 23:41Speaker 1: in this mess?
- 23:42Speaker 3: These are abstract questions. You know, I'm more concerned about
- 23:46Speaker 3: the future of the city that my daughter lives in
- 23:49Speaker 3: that I've spent my life visiting and enjoying, you know.
- 23:53Speaker 3: I mean, does heat this Cuomo have a chance or not?
- 23:55Speaker 3: I mean, we can consider, we can ponder the intelllacktual
- 24:01Speaker 3: ramifications of this on Wednesday, but first we got to
- 24:04Speaker 3: stop the communists.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Well, I can't tell you because the voter turnout is
- 24:09Speaker 1: like six times normal. Almost a million people have already voted.
- 24:13Speaker 1: This is unheard of. It's going to voting will hit
- 24:15Speaker 1: two million, which is way beyond anything. So I think
- 24:18Speaker 1: the polls are all wrong. What do you think?
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I hope. So I finally got my
- 24:24Speaker 3: daughter out to vote. Her and her boyfriend the West
- 24:28Speaker 3: village to vote for Cuomo. On Saturday, in the early
- 24:32Speaker 3: last day of the early voting. I guess, and and
- 24:35Speaker 3: you know, she said, oh, you know, it seems it
- 24:37Speaker 3: doesn't seem all that bad. People seem normal, and a
- 24:41Speaker 3: lot of them seem Jewish. And I said, I don't
- 24:43Speaker 3: think being Jewish has anything to do with it. I mean,
- 24:45Speaker 3: what do the polls say that he's going to that
- 24:48Speaker 3: Bendami is going to get thirty percent of the Jewish vote.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I mean, how insane is that?
- 24:53Speaker 12: Well?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, people say, well, I saw a
- 24:54Speaker 1: lot of Jewish people, you're in a Jewish neighborhood. Or
- 24:57Speaker 1: I saw a lot of old people voted, Well, you're
- 24:58Speaker 1: in the Upper West Side. That's old people.
- 25:03Speaker 3: A lot of Italians voting on Staten Island.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so, uh, I don't know, but you know, you
- 25:10Speaker 1: understand what everybody hates Cuomo. They just hate Cuomo.
- 25:14Speaker 3: No, I understand. I hate him too, you know. I mean,
- 25:16Speaker 3: I'm still angry about changing the name of the Tappan
- 25:19Speaker 3: z Bridge. You know, that doesn't even show up in
- 25:21Speaker 3: most of the polls, but it really bugs the hell
- 25:23Speaker 3: out of me. Being from New England, I used to
- 25:25Speaker 3: like the Tappans going over and seeing that sign, you know, yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 3: I mean what they you know, what about cultural appropriation.
- 25:31Speaker 3: They took away the name of the Indians, that the Tappen,
- 25:34Speaker 3: that's a tribe of Indians. How dare they h Have you.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Ever seen this before? There were somebody everybody says we
- 25:42Speaker 1: must vote for the worst guy in the world just
- 25:46Speaker 1: to stop the totally evil guy.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Remember Roy, when Edwin Edwards was running in Louisiana, you know,
- 25:51Speaker 3: coming out of prison against David Duke that got from
- 25:54Speaker 3: the clan, and they had those bumper stickers vote for
- 25:57Speaker 3: the crooked. It's important. Yeah, it happens. It happens. And
- 26:02Speaker 3: you know James Michael Curley in Boston was he did
- 26:05Speaker 3: two terms in prison. You know, he did it for
- 26:08Speaker 3: a friend. That's what they said, service exitement went to prison.
- 26:12Speaker 3: I mean, this is this is not the new Marion
- 26:14Speaker 3: Barry in d C. Yeah, I mean, you know they
- 26:19Speaker 3: you know, I mean, but you know, Cuomo is just
- 26:21Speaker 3: terrible across the board everywhere you want to look, he's terrible.
- 26:25Speaker 3: But you know the thing is it's that there's the
- 26:27Speaker 3: old saying the devil you know is better than the
- 26:29Speaker 3: devil you don't know. And I think I think that's
- 26:32Speaker 3: what it is. I mean, I don't know, maybe this
- 26:35Speaker 3: is just a you know, a mood point that he's
- 26:38Speaker 3: that man doom he's already wont I hope not, but no,
- 26:41Speaker 3: who knows.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And again, the turnout is so enormous, you got to
- 26:44Speaker 1: figure the poles just haven't been able to measure that.
- 26:47Speaker 1: There's a lot of Mondani voters, new voters, first time
- 26:50Speaker 1: voters usually don't get spotted by pollsters the older people.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Uh but has there ever been a case before, Yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 1: of course where the polls were totally wrong. There must
- 27:00Speaker 1: have been.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, you know, there's always been that, you know,
- 27:04Speaker 3: the George Wallace effect going going way back. People didn't
- 27:07Speaker 3: want to say they were for George Wallace. When when
- 27:10Speaker 3: Bradley the mayor of la the black guy was running
- 27:13Speaker 3: against Dukenasian. I mean, people didn't want to admit they
- 27:16Speaker 3: weren't voting for Bradley. He was a terrible mayor. And yeah,
- 27:20Speaker 3: you know that's I mean, I think there's I think
- 27:22Speaker 3: there's been a lot of that. I I don't know.
- 27:25Speaker 3: You know. The other thing, my daughter called me that
- 27:27Speaker 3: the ballot is rather confusing, you know that, you know,
- 27:30Speaker 3: almost this is a bad thing. I mean, it's it's unfortunate.
- 27:34Speaker 3: But the further up you are on the ballot, the
- 27:35Speaker 3: more votes you get. It's just the way it's always been.
- 27:38Speaker 3: And I guess Cuomo's at the very bottom, and Mamdani's
- 27:41Speaker 3: got two lines on the ballot, you know, because he
- 27:45Speaker 3: wasn't he wasn't planning on winning the primary, you know, originally,
- 27:49Speaker 3: so so that you got two places to vote from,
- 27:51Speaker 3: Mam Donnie, and they're both. I had a Cuomo. I
- 27:53Speaker 3: mean that's another another drawback. But I don't know.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I mean, it's all Cuomo's fault. He was a disaster
- 28:00Speaker 1: in the primaries. He really stunk in the debate.
- 28:04Speaker 3: So he is and he was and again he was
- 28:06Speaker 3: a terrible guy. I mean, go down the list. I
- 28:08Speaker 3: mean bail reform, uh telling, telling conservatives and pro life people,
- 28:14Speaker 3: pro Second Amendment people they should get the hell out
- 28:16Speaker 3: of the state. I mean, that was a long time ago,
- 28:19Speaker 3: and you know, and you know the sexual harassment charges
- 28:22Speaker 3: and the worst thing of all, of course was the
- 28:24Speaker 3: COVID you know, the total mismanagement of that and then
- 28:27Speaker 3: attacking Trump for it, not even using the not even
- 28:30Speaker 3: using the hospital ships that they sent up to the
- 28:33Speaker 3: to the west side, to the docks, and I mean everything,
- 28:37Speaker 3: everything about him is terrible. But I mean this is
- 28:39Speaker 3: the you know, we don't live in a perfect world mark.
- 28:42Speaker 3: This is just the latest example of it, right, I mean,
- 28:47Speaker 3: the declient can be somewhat managed. I mean, I think
- 28:51Speaker 3: maybe there's a little hysteria today, you know, in that
- 28:53Speaker 3: poll that came out of the post. But I mean,
- 28:56Speaker 3: don't you hear people. I mean, I know you're you know,
- 28:58Speaker 3: you're so super pro New York and all that, but
- 29:00Speaker 3: don't you hear people talking about moving out?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah? But hey, so many millions moved out under Cuomo's governor.
- 29:07Speaker 1: We lost four congressional seats because of him, because of
- 29:09Speaker 1: people moving out, right, But.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I think this is I think, you know, I've been
- 29:13Speaker 3: thinking about this. I watched, you know, the values of
- 29:16Speaker 3: property skyrocket here in Palm Beach during COVID. I think
- 29:19Speaker 3: this could I think this could be a bigger exodus,
- 29:22Speaker 3: you know, economic flight than COVID. I really do.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Well, then give him mom Downey credit will solve the
- 29:30Speaker 1: traffic problem. At least.
- 29:34Speaker 3: The credit. We thought that, we thought that in COVID.
- 29:37Speaker 3: You know, the thing is his his voters don't have jobs,
- 29:41Speaker 3: so you know they're still going to be you know,
- 29:45Speaker 3: going around carjacking and going to the welfare office and
- 29:49Speaker 3: going on shopliftings, freeze and out on Long Island. Just
- 29:53Speaker 3: don't be just the way. I don't think the traffic's
- 29:55Speaker 3: going to get that much better.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and we don't have much timelift. Speaking on Palm Beach,
- 29:59Speaker 1: mar A Lago, this was the big reopening this weekend,
- 30:01Speaker 1: Halloween weekend, mar Alago reopened.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yep, he came. He came down early twelve forty was
- 30:07Speaker 3: my wife got caught in the traffic GM at you know,
- 30:10Speaker 3: nine o'clock on Saturday, that's when he usually leaves to
- 30:14Speaker 3: go play around the golf. Yeah, he's gonna be He's
- 30:16Speaker 3: going to be down here a lot this weather, I think,
- 30:18Speaker 3: and it's going to be good. It's like I like
- 30:22Speaker 3: havin him here. You know, it's good. It's the winter
- 30:25Speaker 3: White House and it's the Autumn White House.
- 30:30Speaker 1: It's pretty amazing. The President. Normally, when you leave for
- 30:33Speaker 1: a weekend, the President, you go stay at Camp David
- 30:35Speaker 1: in like a log camp. This guy goes to the biggest,
- 30:37Speaker 1: most glamorous resort in the world and then he's the
- 30:40Speaker 1: only president he ever comes back to the White House.
- 30:42Speaker 1: It seems kind of dumpy compared to where he was.
- 30:45Speaker 1: That's why he's building the ballroom. He built a big
- 30:48Speaker 1: ballroom in mar A Lago. Now he's going to do
- 30:50Speaker 1: the same thing for the White House. He'd improved the
- 30:52Speaker 1: hell out of mar A Lago and made it even
- 30:55Speaker 1: more valuable. I think I tend to think the same thing,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and it's going to happen with the with the ballroom.
- 31:01Speaker 1: On the East wing. People just don't want to admit it. Democrats, Hey, everybody,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I get Howie Carr's latest book, Mass Corruption? Is it?
- 31:09Speaker 1: You still? Best place is your website to get it?
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yeah? We still well. I think Amazon laid off all
- 31:15Speaker 3: their people, so we're dealing with AI. They said, we
- 31:17Speaker 3: have no record of doing business with you. No, only
- 31:19Speaker 3: tens of thousands of dollars, maybe one hundred thousand dollars
- 31:22Speaker 3: with like five books. They have no record of it,
- 31:24Speaker 3: though apparently now they they're telling me. But yeah, I
- 31:27Speaker 3: get it. You can get it. It'll be on Amazon

- 32:14Speaker 3: All right, okay both Cuomo.
- 32:16Speaker 1: All right.
