- 0:13Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Head coach talked yesterday at the owners meeting. We had
- 0:20Speaker 3: the not yesterday, Monday.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Wait a minute, Tuesday, yesterday.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yes, correct, they've got their fanboy cap on rather than
- 0:28Speaker 3: their journalist cap on.
- 0:29Speaker 4: It didn't bother you when they were going twelve before.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Oh, there was nothing to talk about. It was only
- 0:33Speaker 3: one answer. They're great and if you don't write that,
- 0:36Speaker 3: you're an idiot.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Stomach bug or something.
- 0:37Speaker 5: You have to Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 6: I don't know if she's the math math.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Well, now I noticed something about Paul when he's on
- 0:45Speaker 3: one of his shows. He's a different Paul.
- 0:47Speaker 5: He's more cool Coola.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he's more like after Dark Paul out, you know,
- 0:52Speaker 3: and if you really listen closely, he sounds like Dan Sewnason.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Oh that's unfortunate.
- 0:58Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, all right, we'll go to the show.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Screeched to a halt again, Mike.
- 1:03Speaker 6: Oh hi, Mike, dude, Hike trying to grind the show
- 1:07Speaker 6: to a halt in.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Excuse me, ready, Freddy, This is us.
- 1:11Speaker 5: I had Italian with hots. This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:16Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:18Speaker 5: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:22Speaker 6: All right, welcome into Patriots Unfiltered, folks, and happy three
- 1:26Speaker 6: twenty eight to those who celebrate. As you can see
- 1:28Speaker 6: a little T shirt over my right side, and we're
- 1:31Speaker 6: excited here to have a Where's Fred?
- 1:35Speaker 4: So, Mike, how did you come about getting one of
- 1:37Speaker 4: those T shirts?
- 1:38Speaker 6: Oh, it's a long story that we don't have time
- 1:42Speaker 6: for now. No, uh, yeah, you know made one.
- 1:44Speaker 4: So why are you in the host chair?
- 1:47Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:47Speaker 6: I guess Fred is out. We weren't sure. We heard
- 1:49Speaker 6: rumors that he might be out, and then I did
- 1:51Speaker 6: not hear the rumors.
- 1:52Speaker 4: But I'm told that he uh he alluded to this
- 1:55Speaker 4: a little bit earlier in the week, sourced that he's sort.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Of uh you know it in the abyss.
- 2:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know what are we gonna do?
- 2:02Speaker 4: I hope he is Okay?
- 2:03Speaker 6: You know what that means, Paul. Since Fred's not here,
- 2:05Speaker 6: we can't we can't talk draft today, like you know,
- 2:07Speaker 6: we're we're not gonna be able to talk about any
- 2:09Speaker 6: of the prospects. We're just gonna have to make out
- 2:12Speaker 6: some bs and and you know, talk about the movies.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Reports on Drake made too positive, so we can't talk
- 2:16Speaker 4: to that anymore.
- 2:17Speaker 6: Oh, I know, Well I called in. I mean I
- 2:19Speaker 6: was in Florida at the owner's meetings and I heard
- 2:21Speaker 6: you kind of opening on how it feels like we've
- 2:23Speaker 6: been doing the same shows since November, and uh, I
- 2:27Speaker 6: think I think we're all a little bit burned out
- 2:29Speaker 6: on on Drake May and Jade and Daniels and now
- 2:31Speaker 6: JJ Daddy's away. Damn.
- 2:33Speaker 4: So well, I'm going to call myself a kid for
- 2:36Speaker 4: the for all intents for the Duce and the kids,
- 2:40Speaker 4: Pepe and the Deuce will have some fun today.
- 2:42Speaker 6: Well that's why I said initially when I said to
- 2:43Speaker 6: Alex was going to be Peep and the Deuce, and
- 2:45Speaker 6: she's like, I need a poop name and we couldn't
- 2:47Speaker 6: We couldn't think of one off. Alexandra Francis, what's your
- 2:49Speaker 6: middle name?
- 2:50Speaker 2: My middle name is it's just my mom's maiden name
- 2:53Speaker 2: is Barbosa or not my Yeah, that's my mom's.
- 2:55Speaker 6: No, No, there's nothing there, and man tis joins and either.
- 3:00Speaker 8: Listeners if you can, well hush we're off to a
- 3:10Speaker 8: roaring start.
- 3:11Speaker 6: But hey, Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's
- 3:13Speaker 6: best offers, including those not seen on TV, go to
- 3:15Speaker 6: buy at toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for
- 3:18Speaker 6: deals from the official vehicle of the New England Patriots. Toyota.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Let's go do a show without Fred. So yeah, uh,
- 3:25Speaker 6: so we're down. Well, I guess we should touch briefly
- 3:29Speaker 6: because our our friend Evan is uh he was down
- 3:32Speaker 6: yesterday watching Jade and Daniels at his big elbow, observing
- 3:36Speaker 6: that weird elbow.
- 3:37Speaker 4: We had to be that can be some kind of know.
- 3:41Speaker 5: They had the doctors on Twitter. It's like some verses thing.
- 3:44Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 3:44Speaker 6: It doesn't look right. I saw.
- 3:47Speaker 4: I saw other people opining that there was it was
- 3:50Speaker 4: like a something with the photography.
- 3:53Speaker 6: We caught a frame with photography lower arm.
- 3:55Speaker 4: And it's like you ever see like when when hockey
- 3:57Speaker 4: play watching a hockey game in the background sometimes when
- 3:59Speaker 4: they shoot, like the stick is almost like at a
- 4:02Speaker 4: ninety degree and.
- 4:03Speaker 2: It's not really it's a shutter speed.
- 4:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I always see those shots.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Goes a little something about everything.
- 4:09Speaker 6: I wonder why I could never get the stick to
- 4:10Speaker 6: bend like that. It looks I think the sticks these
- 4:12Speaker 6: days that are like all two hundred bucks, but they
- 4:14Speaker 6: all have like that major flex and you know, I
- 4:16Speaker 6: just it just wasn't strong enough. Yeah, back in the
- 4:19Speaker 6: days of like the Christian brother sticks, this is going
- 4:21Speaker 6: to go the show to all Christian Brothers. I mean,
- 4:24Speaker 6: well that was like I always complained about. You would
- 4:26Speaker 6: buy one stick at the start of the year and
- 4:28Speaker 6: that Christian Brothers stick would last you the whole season
- 4:30Speaker 6: for twenty five bucks. And now you know when I
- 4:32Speaker 6: like rough and you see one of these kids with
- 4:34Speaker 6: this like composite stick that weighs like a feather and
- 4:37Speaker 6: ounce and you know, can bend almost in half without breaking.
- 4:39Speaker 6: But then they smash in like the most random points
- 4:42Speaker 6: and then you look up in the stands and you
- 4:43Speaker 6: know the kid's dad is like pulling out his wallet getting.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Ready, like that happens at lacrosse. Oh great, Yeah, the
- 4:48Speaker 4: head comes off and it's a mess. You hear an
- 4:51Speaker 4: f bomb in the stands, like sorry about that, Craig.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Expensive sports, expensive sports. But but yeah, so we're we
- 4:59Speaker 6: you know, we are closing on the draft, so I
- 5:00Speaker 6: think we'll all be relieved. And that's my favorite part
- 5:02Speaker 6: of the draft is the day after the draft, when
- 5:05Speaker 6: you say, here's your ten guys. You know, congratulations.
- 5:07Speaker 5: You don't need to see a mock for an you.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Don't need to hear and you know, you just get
- 5:10Speaker 6: to listen everybody complain about what they did or didn't do.
- 5:13Speaker 6: But but you know, once you can finally lock in
- 5:14Speaker 6: on those guys. But I think by this point you
- 5:16Speaker 6: just are you're kind of pulling your hair out.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I mean it's definitely different because they're picking third and
- 5:22Speaker 4: that's you know, much higher than they've ever done, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 4: since we've been covering it, and I think that makes
- 5:29Speaker 4: it a whole different animal. But yeah, it's monotonous. The
- 5:32Speaker 4: mock draft season to me is by far and away
- 5:35Speaker 4: the worst part of the job. I don't read them,
- 5:38Speaker 4: I don't write them, I don't look at them. I
- 5:40Speaker 4: don't care about them.
- 5:41Speaker 2: You have to you have to mute the phrase mock
- 5:43Speaker 2: draft on Twitter.
- 5:44Speaker 6: Yeahs ever do that or mock draft s z N.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Season.
- 5:50Speaker 6: That's that's a kid say Paul translates.
- 5:52Speaker 9: That, No, I got it, No, it's I mean I
- 5:57Speaker 9: do I do enjoy the draft but I find like
- 5:59Speaker 9: even the pundits are getting bored with them because then
- 6:02Speaker 9: they just start throwing things against the wall and they're like,
- 6:04Speaker 9: I don't I don't know.
- 6:05Speaker 4: If I can't do the last two weeks and I
- 6:07Speaker 4: know we didn't want to really get in and here
- 6:08Speaker 4: we are, but like the last two weeks, you see
- 6:10Speaker 4: all these different people, you know, well, so now it's
- 6:13Speaker 4: we're not even gonna do mock drafts with the Patriots
- 6:14Speaker 4: picking third. We're just gonna do eleven and twenty three.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Like, yeah, what do we do?
- 6:19Speaker 10: Well?
- 6:20Speaker 6: That was that that was the big twist. You know,
- 6:21Speaker 6: Minnesota all of a sudden they have two picks, and
- 6:23Speaker 6: now it's like, hey, this will make sense and you can.
- 6:26Speaker 4: And I'm not saying they won't trade, they might, but
- 6:29Speaker 4: you know, we have to do mock drafts with them
- 6:32Speaker 4: at three, We have to do them with him at six.
- 6:33Speaker 4: We have to do them with eleven and twenty three, like.
- 6:36Speaker 6: Do the seventh round mock. And then I'm also going to.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Und project every player that Paul.
- 6:41Speaker 6: Knows, right, as well as projecting the undrafted free agents
- 6:44Speaker 6: that they're gonna sign as well, So you know, really
- 6:46Speaker 6: really trying if Jeff Thomas coming over, Jeff Dank wasn't
- 6:50Speaker 6: Daniels Jeff Danel, Yes, right, you are correct, shout out,
- 6:53Speaker 6: Shout out Fred.
- 6:54Speaker 4: My mistake for calling him by his actual name.
- 6:56Speaker 6: I will say though, watching you know, some of the
- 6:58Speaker 6: footage yesterday from LSU Malik Neighbors. Oh he's he's awesome, man.
- 7:04Speaker 6: I like as much as I you know, I've seen
- 7:06Speaker 6: plenty of Marvin Harrison Junior by this point, and you know,
- 7:09Speaker 6: he's he's great. But there's just something I think with
- 7:12Speaker 6: the Patriots having watched what we've watched for so long,
- 7:15Speaker 6: not to say that Marvin Harrison wouldn't come in and
- 7:17Speaker 6: be like amazing, but there's just that like explosive element
- 7:21Speaker 6: of Neighbors game that would just instantly transform the Patriots offense.
- 7:24Speaker 6: And you know, I really doubt that they're going to
- 7:27Speaker 6: pick him or you know, really have him targeted unfortunately.
- 7:30Speaker 6: But it's just one guy that every time I watch him,
- 7:33Speaker 6: I think he's going to be a superstar in this league.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I think he's gonna be one of
- 7:37Speaker 5: those guys like Jamar Chase. Week one, You're going to
- 7:38Speaker 5: see like some crazy highlights, hits the ground running and
- 7:42Speaker 5: I mean some prime ab in him.
- 7:43Speaker 6: I feel like, yeah, is it weird, though, Paul, do
- 7:45Speaker 6: you think like that that Harrison didn't really do anything
- 7:48Speaker 6: and Neighbors is doing stuff? Like is that is that
- 7:50Speaker 6: strange at all?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yeah? I mean I think Harrison we talked about this
- 7:53Speaker 4: when you guys were at the Combine, and I remember
- 7:56Speaker 4: we were asking you guys when we when you guys
- 8:00Speaker 4: dialed in with us. And I don't think necessarily Evan
- 8:03Speaker 4: in particular understood what I was talking about because he
- 8:07Speaker 4: had said then his camp had put out there that
- 8:10Speaker 4: he wasn't working out, not at the Combine period. He's
- 8:14Speaker 4: not doing a pro day workout, He's not doing any workouts.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Always doing is preparing to play, which I'm fine with,
- 8:21Speaker 4: especially when you have, you know, that kind of talent.
- 8:24Speaker 4: The workouts are there to bolster your draft stock. Obviously
- 8:28Speaker 4: his doesn't need any bolstering. You mentioned that Neighbors would
- 8:34Speaker 4: be like Jamar Chase, like I look at Harrison like
- 8:36Speaker 4: Larry Fitzgerald, and I think that's a great argument, like
- 8:40Speaker 4: would you rather have sort of a steady, consistent, productive
- 8:44Speaker 4: guy volume or you know, and if it's Jamar Chase,
- 8:49Speaker 4: you know you're talking about a steady, consistent, big play guy.
- 8:54Speaker 4: So I kind of lean to the Larry Fitzgerald, but
- 8:59Speaker 4: Neighbors is pretty good.
- 9:00Speaker 5: It's also with Marvin Harrison. If you're gonna let him slide,
- 9:03Speaker 5: like that's on you. Like, good luck with that. If
- 9:05Speaker 5: you want to slide and you take somebody else, go
- 9:07Speaker 5: for it, but good luck keeping your job. Feet balls out.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I just wonder if teams, you know,
- 9:11Speaker 6: if there's any if it gives teams any any pause,
- 9:14Speaker 6: and you know, I just like to bring it to Mac,
- 9:17Speaker 6: like I always really thought it was pretty cool how
- 9:19Speaker 6: Mac won the National championship, went to the Senior Bowl.
- 9:23Speaker 6: I mean there was no combine that year, but then
- 9:25Speaker 6: you know, we threw twice. Like just fearlessness probably isn't
- 9:28Speaker 6: the word, but like it just seemed like, you know,
- 9:30Speaker 6: it's not the word, No, it's it's he.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Had he had to do it.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that's that's fair. I don't know. I just
- 9:36Speaker 6: there's something that I respect about guys that just that
- 9:39Speaker 6: just don't care. Yeah, I know I put it on film,
- 9:41Speaker 6: but I'm also gonna I'm just gonna stand in front
- 9:42Speaker 6: of all you and shorts and T shirts and remind
- 9:44Speaker 6: you exactly what I what I'm doing.
- 9:46Speaker 4: It goes back to the thing that I didn't like
- 9:48Speaker 4: that Mayo said on Monday. You know, Fred, you know yesterday, Monday, Yeah, whatever,
- 9:54Speaker 4: it was Tuesday. But when he said, you know, we're
- 9:57Speaker 4: trying to do it the right way, there is no
- 9:59Speaker 4: right way. And I don't think that what Harrison is
- 10:02Speaker 4: doing is right or wrong. And I don't think what
- 10:04Speaker 4: mac Jones did is right. Like I think everybody has
- 10:06Speaker 4: individually what they want to do and what they think
- 10:09Speaker 4: is best for them, and I I don't. I don't
- 10:13Speaker 4: think there's anything wrong with what Harrison's doing. Yeah, And
- 10:16Speaker 4: I understand your point of view, Like you, you respect
- 10:18Speaker 4: the guys that say, yeah, I'm probably going to be
- 10:20Speaker 4: a top five pick, but I'm going to work out anyway.
- 10:23Speaker 4: But nothing wrong with that either.
- 10:24Speaker 6: That's what I'm doing anyway.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Is that what you did?
- 10:26Speaker 6: Did you? Did you work out anyone my my high
- 10:29Speaker 6: school hockey program. You couldn't get the stick to to
- 10:32Speaker 6: flex correctly? Yeah? No, I mean I think that's just
- 10:35Speaker 6: modern technology. It's helping the players in a way that
- 10:37Speaker 6: it never helped me. I probably would I could have
- 10:39Speaker 6: gone I could have gone pro. I could have been
- 10:40Speaker 6: all state, and you know, I'd be sitting in the
- 10:43Speaker 6: hot hot tub with my soul mail right now if
- 10:45Speaker 6: it all worked out. So unfortunately, guys, no phones today,
- 10:49Speaker 6: so we're sorry we can't do that. As you, as
- 10:52Speaker 6: many are probably aware, this is an ongoing process that
- 10:54Speaker 6: we're trying to get a new phone system here. That's that,
- 10:56Speaker 6: I guess is hopefully going to be awesome. You know,
- 10:58Speaker 6: like you able to text us and you know, all
- 11:00Speaker 6: different kinds of ways to call in, but for now
- 11:02Speaker 6: we're in between that stage, so unable to get calls.
- 11:05Speaker 6: But you can certainly email us at web radio at
- 11:09Speaker 6: Patriots dot.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Com and we'll looking for a good off season. The
- 11:11Speaker 4: topic it's not necessarily serious or related to football. If
- 11:15Speaker 4: you guys want to put down a ridiculous path, I'm
- 11:19Speaker 4: totally down because we got them here for that.
- 11:21Speaker 6: We got it. We got the squad with Teas and Alex,
- 11:23Speaker 6: so you might get some you know, some other answers that.
- 11:25Speaker 6: And of course we don't have Evan here, because if
- 11:28Speaker 6: Evan was here and we tried to do a non
- 11:30Speaker 6: football show to walk out, he just he dropped his
- 11:32Speaker 6: phone and he would he would store me at This
- 11:34Speaker 6: is not why I'm here. I need to break you.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Notice like g Alex was all mad at me in
- 11:38Speaker 4: the last show and she was yelling at me because
- 11:40Speaker 4: I was being critical of Mail, and.
- 11:42Speaker 6: She moved her seat. She's not two seats away that way,
- 11:45Speaker 6: she doesn't have.
- 11:46Speaker 2: To give you this my original seat. But then Evan
- 11:49Speaker 2: kind of just co opted it. So I was like,
- 11:50Speaker 2: all right, he's usually on the show every day, like whatever,
- 11:53Speaker 2: I'll let him.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Have it, but assigned seats. I did.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I did feel like being back there. I don't know
- 11:57Speaker 2: why I didn't sit there today We're.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Gonna streamline thing.
- 12:00Speaker 6: That's okay. She's not in the hot corner now it's
- 12:02Speaker 6: a hot corner. And plus you can stare directly at
- 12:04Speaker 6: Paul and you know, stare daggers at him when he
- 12:06Speaker 6: says something that you disagree with and pound the table
- 12:08Speaker 6: and I vehemently disagree. But so yeah, what else? What
- 12:12Speaker 6: else are we going to get into strenuously? Is that
- 12:14Speaker 6: how it works?
- 12:16Speaker 4: So you absent the day they taught law in law school, a.
- 12:19Speaker 6: Little nerd thing. Paul probably make fun of me for this,
- 12:21Speaker 6: but I'm gonna put it out there for sure. So
- 12:24Speaker 6: I've been reading a book.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I'm not gonna make it fun of you for that.
- 12:27Speaker 6: I've been reading The Packer Away.
- 12:28Speaker 4: I'm going to make fun of it. There's a better
- 12:31Speaker 4: a passage on get Brett Favre and follow it up
- 12:34Speaker 4: with Aaron Rodgers.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Well, they haven't got to the Iaran Rodgers part per se,
- 12:39Speaker 6: but I but I'm about halfway through it right now
- 12:41Speaker 6: and maybe in the second half. I got to pull
- 12:43Speaker 6: it up on my phone because I last night I
- 12:44Speaker 6: was reading something that I've just found that the parallels
- 12:48Speaker 6: between the team that Ron Wolf took over and the
- 12:50Speaker 6: Packers in nineteen ninety two. It's it's very similar to
- 12:54Speaker 6: kind of what Elliott Wolf has experienced here in that
- 12:57Speaker 6: he was brought in. I think they fired the the
- 13:00Speaker 6: GM at the time in November of the season and
- 13:03Speaker 6: they hired Ron Wolf, and you know, we had a
- 13:05Speaker 6: couple of months to watch, you know, how things were
- 13:08Speaker 6: kind of evolving, which is, you know, similar Elliot Wolf's
- 13:10Speaker 6: been here for a couple of years but came into
- 13:13Speaker 6: a four win team. Similar and you know, basically this
- 13:16Speaker 6: book and a lot of it, Paul, which I probably
- 13:18Speaker 6: would make fun of with you, is a lot of
- 13:20Speaker 6: like management speak, like corporate you know, like you've got
- 13:22Speaker 6: to identify the problem, you know, that kind of stuff.
- 13:25Speaker 6: But I really enjoy the actual football parts. You're right
- 13:28Speaker 6: about Brett Farv, which he, you know, says, this is
- 13:30Speaker 6: a guy I loved, talked about when he was with
- 13:33Speaker 6: the Jets. Wanted to take him. They were ready to
- 13:35Speaker 6: take him, but unfortunately, I guess it was the Falcons
- 13:39Speaker 6: came in and swooped in and took him. Then when
- 13:41Speaker 6: he became came into the job, immediately targeted Brett Farv.
- 13:46Speaker 6: But the passage that maybe I can almost pull it
- 13:48Speaker 6: up right here because it was actually just struck me.
- 13:51Speaker 6: You know, it's a he said it was a four
- 13:53Speaker 6: win team, and you know, but let's see here we go. Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 6: this is a little bit just spare with me for
- 13:59Speaker 6: one moment. I did well. I took a picture of
- 14:01Speaker 6: it because I thought it was app I didn't even
- 14:02Speaker 6: realize that powerosting today. But this is non trade tax talk.
- 14:06Speaker 6: So I'm just gonna read a bit here, and he
- 14:09Speaker 6: calls it the stepping stone approach, which is, you know
- 14:11Speaker 6: one of the things that I'm kind of like, come on,
- 14:13Speaker 6: but I visualized the stepping stone approach to building a
- 14:16Speaker 6: winning roster. This way, we needed to establish a solid
- 14:19Speaker 6: foundation of veteran players by keeping the best athletes from
- 14:22Speaker 6: the nineteen ninety one team who were willing to accept
- 14:24Speaker 6: Mike Coldman's coaching style. These guys didn't necessarily have to
- 14:28Speaker 6: be stars because the team didn't have many standouts, but
- 14:31Speaker 6: they did have to be good enough to give us
- 14:33Speaker 6: a chance to compete. We would use trades and the
- 14:36Speaker 6: free agency options to fill in the most glaring holes
- 14:38Speaker 6: with other veterans. And at the same time, and this
- 14:40Speaker 6: was the most essential element, we wanted to use the
- 14:42Speaker 6: draft to pick potential stars who could be groomed in
- 14:45Speaker 6: Mike's system and who eventually would become much better than
- 14:48Speaker 6: the starters we currently had by the time the youngster
- 14:52Speaker 6: on the roster. And then one more little bit that
- 14:56Speaker 6: I thought was kind of apt. I know, if we
- 14:58Speaker 6: lost our patients too quickly with everyone from the bad
- 15:00Speaker 6: nineteen ninety one team, we would botch the stepping stone philosophy.
- 15:04Speaker 6: We had to buy time by improving our veteran players
- 15:07Speaker 6: to a point where they could win enough games for
- 15:10Speaker 6: us to show progress. Whether you're rebuilding or revitalizing or
- 15:13Speaker 6: just trying to make a good situation better. It's important
- 15:16Speaker 6: to never lose sight of maintaining continuity. So I just
- 15:19Speaker 6: I read that last night and I felt, you know,
- 15:21Speaker 6: and look, I get it. You know, people are set.
- 15:24Speaker 6: They wanted they heard the phrase money to burn, and
- 15:27Speaker 6: they wanted big free agency period. But just as I've
- 15:29Speaker 6: been kind of reading this book and the similarities of
- 15:32Speaker 6: the situation, it's just, you know, kind of informed a
- 15:34Speaker 6: little bit about how Elliott Wolf might be kind of
- 15:37Speaker 6: following his dad's book a little bit, and maybe that's
- 15:40Speaker 6: kind of the philosophy that they're approaching. And you know,
- 15:43Speaker 6: the big thing with people are, oh, I thought Bill
- 15:46Speaker 6: couldn't draft, and you know, I don't. I don't think
- 15:47Speaker 6: anybody's arguing that, you know, Michael and when you or
- 15:51Speaker 6: you know, josh U Jay or you know, the guys
- 15:54Speaker 6: that they did retain or you know, necessarily superstars. But
- 15:57Speaker 6: it just kind of spoke to me that they do
- 15:59Speaker 6: have to main team some continuity. They do have to
- 16:01Speaker 6: have some kind of baseline. They couldn't just completely rebuild
- 16:04Speaker 6: the whole team from scratching free agency.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I've said this, I think on Tuesday
- 16:09Speaker 4: and in the past, I think that there was a
- 16:13Speaker 4: definite element of wanting to if you're going to try
- 16:16Speaker 4: to start something new and make some changes, implement a
- 16:21Speaker 4: new regime, I think you want to have some buy in.
- 16:25Speaker 4: And I think that that's why you want to hold
- 16:28Speaker 4: on to some guys that you're familiar with. And I
- 16:31Speaker 4: think that what Gerard Mayo and Elliott will probably hope
- 16:33Speaker 4: is that guys like Awen Whu and Hunter Henry and
- 16:37Speaker 4: those kinds of guys can get in the locker room.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Maybe Anthony Jennings being one of the only other guys
- 16:42Speaker 4: with three years YEP, established some kind of a culture
- 16:45Speaker 4: of how they want to operate. And yeah, they're not
- 16:50Speaker 4: great players, but they're solid players. It's not like they
- 16:53Speaker 4: were busts, you know, so that you know this solid
- 16:56Speaker 4: NFL players who have established at least a level of ability,
- 17:00Speaker 4: and then you go from there. Just listening to you
- 17:03Speaker 4: talk about that though, I was, so you have the
- 17:07Speaker 4: stepping stone philosophy and you do all those things. I
- 17:10Speaker 4: wonder if they gave I wonder if Elliott Wolf gave
- 17:13Speaker 4: much thought to Justin Fields because Justin Field and I'm
- 17:17Speaker 4: not suggesting that Justin Field is going to turn into
- 17:19Speaker 4: Brett Farr. But this is like a quarterback from somebody
- 17:23Speaker 4: else established who wasn't really getting the job done. You know,
- 17:27Speaker 4: Farv was in Atlanta, he wasn't really playing. He was
- 17:30Speaker 4: kind of why and there was different reasons why.
- 17:33Speaker 11: You know.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Obviously Fields has gotten more than his opportunity to play.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Farv really didn't in Atlanta. But at the same time,
- 17:40Speaker 4: he's talking about bringing guys in and I wonder if
- 17:44Speaker 4: he gave much thought of we could do something like
- 17:46Speaker 4: we did and maybe catch lightning in a bottle, because
- 17:48Speaker 4: this is no way when they acquired Brett Favre that
- 17:51Speaker 4: they thought that that's what they were acquiring.
- 17:53Speaker 6: Well, according to him, it was as you might expected.
- 17:56Speaker 4: But I mean he, you know, Glanville was you know,
- 17:59Speaker 4: in Atlanta at the time, and he was really really upset, Yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 4: that they traded far.
- 18:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean he went into that a little bit.
- 18:06Speaker 6: I mean, I'm kind of at the point now where
- 18:08Speaker 6: he's had his first year. He brought in Farv. Farv gout.
- 18:10Speaker 6: You know a lot of people didn't want Don Mkowski out,
- 18:14Speaker 6: you know, similar almost to what happened with Bill. But
- 18:17Speaker 6: I think the thing that kind of stood out to me,
- 18:18Speaker 6: and he does. He talked a lot about how he
- 18:20Speaker 6: was just kind of enamored of Farv even when he
- 18:22Speaker 6: was with the Jets. You know, he you know, he
- 18:25Speaker 6: went to Tampa Bay, had a terrible time, didn't think
- 18:28Speaker 6: he was going to get another chance, and then when
- 18:29Speaker 6: he went, you know, to Green Bay, he really wanted
- 18:31Speaker 6: far But you know, all this talk about the quarterbacks
- 18:34Speaker 6: and you know, Daniels or may or McCarthy or all
- 18:36Speaker 6: that stuff. The thing I thought was interesting that made
- 18:39Speaker 6: me kind of reflect upon some of the analysis was
- 18:42Speaker 6: how he just said Farv was you know, it sounds cliche,
- 18:44Speaker 6: but was just a winner and he always seemed to
- 18:48Speaker 6: raise the level of his team, no matter who he
- 18:50Speaker 6: was kind of playing with or what the situation was.
- 18:53Speaker 6: Guys just seemed to want to play for him. And
- 18:55Speaker 6: if he got into the right situation and got the
- 18:57Speaker 6: right chance, he really believed that that would really carry him.
- 19:01Speaker 6: And I almost find myself revisiting a little bit, you know,
- 19:04Speaker 6: even with Daniels in his first year at Arizona State,
- 19:07Speaker 6: which I know we had you know, really successful first
- 19:10Speaker 6: year there with not a great team. You know, I
- 19:13Speaker 6: just I kind of look at these quarterbacks a little
- 19:15Speaker 6: bit through that lens, because you know, we talked so
- 19:18Speaker 6: much about some guys are just in ideal situations, right
- 19:21Speaker 6: especially the top ranked quarterbacks. They've been at LSU. They're
- 19:24Speaker 6: throwing to two superstar first round wide receivers, you know,
- 19:27Speaker 6: Mac Mac being another example of that. But you know,
- 19:30Speaker 6: how can you find those guys that no matter who
- 19:33Speaker 6: they kind of played with. I mean, I look at Brady,
- 19:35Speaker 6: it was Brady right like, even when Brady had like
- 19:37Speaker 6: twenty thirteen, didn't have the best like, they always played
- 19:40Speaker 6: better than what they were And that's why I also
- 19:43Speaker 6: just reflect upon Max's time here where people they didn't
- 19:45Speaker 6: give him any help, they didn't give him any weapons.
- 19:48Speaker 6: The great ones I think would show you a little
- 19:50Speaker 6: bit more even when they don't have.
- 19:52Speaker 4: And that's always been my point. Yeah, I think a
- 19:54Speaker 4: lot of things can be true. At the same time, Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 4: I don't think they did a great job of supporting
- 19:58Speaker 4: Mac Jones. I think that that is true, But at
- 20:01Speaker 4: the same time, that's not the reason why, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 4: the sole reason why he's not successful.
- 20:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I We'll see how it goes for him down
- 20:10Speaker 6: I'm going to keep going on the book though, We'll
- 20:12Speaker 6: see what happens next. But one last bid on today,
- 20:15Speaker 6: just no, no, no, just one more bid on it though.
- 20:18Speaker 6: It was just kind of funny to me, is that
- 20:20Speaker 6: I think in total ron Wolf was in Green Bay
- 20:22Speaker 6: for ten years total and wrote like this whole book
- 20:26Speaker 6: on success and then I'm like thinking, Christ, the Patriots
- 20:30Speaker 6: did it for like twenty years.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I mean, it just kind of looks what we had
- 20:33Speaker 4: to talk to.
- 20:34Speaker 6: I know, I don't want to call it insignificant because
- 20:36Speaker 6: certainly the success that the Packers had and and you know,
- 20:39Speaker 6: he mentions too a lot of when this Packer Wake
- 20:41Speaker 6: thing came up, a common refrain from the fans was like, yeah,
- 20:43Speaker 6: you got one super Bowl out of it, and you know,
- 20:45Speaker 6: he was very disappointed in that and felt like they
- 20:48Speaker 6: should have gotten more. But it's just kind of funny
- 20:50Speaker 6: when you think about the success that they had and
- 20:53Speaker 6: at the time when they wrote the book in the
- 20:54Speaker 6: late nineties, it was so like we're the you know,
- 20:56Speaker 6: model franchise. We saved Green Bay and you know, here
- 20:59Speaker 6: we are in New England where it's like, oh yeah,
- 21:01Speaker 6: twenty years, like no big deal, Like it's you just
- 21:03Speaker 6: you can't even fathom how much success the Patriots had
- 21:07Speaker 6: over two decades.
- 21:08Speaker 5: We have our own days, we have our own date.
- 21:10Speaker 6: There it is that a state holiday.
- 21:13Speaker 5: Should be should be I think it should be.
- 21:15Speaker 6: I think it should be certainly. I actually, can I
- 21:18Speaker 6: tell it quick? I tell I don't know if I
- 21:19Speaker 6: told the story. I got a quick three twenty eight story,
- 21:21Speaker 6: which is kind of random. You know that the T
- 21:23Speaker 6: shirt thing is my story. The thing is, but but
- 21:27Speaker 6: I actually didn't even realize it until after the whole
- 21:29Speaker 6: T shirt thing happened. Was that not only was my grandparents'
- 21:34Speaker 6: mailbox down in Dennis three twenty eight, but my grandfather
- 21:37Speaker 6: died on three twenty eight two. And so then this
- 21:40Speaker 6: whole like three twenty eight.
- 21:41Speaker 4: A wonderfully uplifted story, thanks for sharing.
- 21:45Speaker 6: But then this, then this whole T shirt thing happens,
- 21:49Speaker 6: and you know, my mom was like, well, you know,
- 21:51Speaker 6: Bumpy died on March twenty eighth, and I was like,
- 21:54Speaker 6: you know, and you're talking about it being a holiday,
- 21:55Speaker 6: and I'm like, holy crap, Like this is, like, you know,
- 21:58Speaker 6: it definitely a significant day in my life. It's a
- 22:01Speaker 6: positive one now, but you know, it's just weird that
- 22:03Speaker 6: that that was their mailbox, and that was also the day. Anyway,
- 22:06Speaker 6: I digress, but we do have some emails coming in here,
- 22:10Speaker 6: and I'm hoping I'm hoping that's somewhere off. So here's
- 22:14Speaker 6: one from Zach. He says, Hey, guys, Zach from Conquered
- 22:18Speaker 6: North Carolina. Since you guys are in the mood for
- 22:20Speaker 6: non football conversation today, how about we briefly discuss some
- 22:23Speaker 6: Major League Baseball opening day No, sorry, I will say
- 22:31Speaker 6: the Red Sox tickets very affordable and touch on the
- 22:35Speaker 6: Red Sox. Yeah, we said, what are some of your
- 22:38Speaker 6: early predictions for the season, Red Sox season expectations and
- 22:41Speaker 6: L and al MVP and L and al Cy Young Division.
- 22:44Speaker 6: I mean, Zach thinks, I mean, you guys know, I
- 22:46Speaker 6: know I ain't got nothing for you.
- 22:47Speaker 5: I good.
- 22:48Speaker 4: I don't have much on predictions because I don't follow
- 22:51Speaker 4: the league as closely as I did, but I don't
- 22:53Speaker 4: have a lot of faith in the Red Sox. And
- 22:55Speaker 4: back to our conversation from Tuesday about how like you
- 22:59Speaker 4: put your positive right. How many different people over the
- 23:02Speaker 4: last three days about the Red Sox a lot more
- 23:04Speaker 4: talent here this year than they were. They had a
- 23:07Speaker 4: good spring, good spring Uh, they're going to surprise some people.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I'm like, what are we basing this on. It's like
- 23:14Speaker 4: the same stuff that I heard this time last year
- 23:17Speaker 4: and the year before when they finished in last both times,
- 23:20Speaker 4: Like I just feel like these guys they're all in
- 23:23Speaker 4: the bag. I do. I think there's so much like
- 23:27Speaker 4: they just want to will it into existence. No one
- 23:29Speaker 4: wants to cover a last place team, and they're just
- 23:33Speaker 4: like watch it either. Yeah, they're going to be better
- 23:35Speaker 4: this year. You should watch. You should watch. And would
- 23:38Speaker 4: you say about the affordability of the tickets?
- 23:40Speaker 5: Evidently I'll be there in a summer day, maybe a couple.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Yes, you have for a whole different reason. You too,
- 23:49Speaker 4: You'll be there for the social scene.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Not even I can't even tell you. I mean when
- 23:53Speaker 2: I left Nesson, I took like a break, like a
- 23:56Speaker 2: step back from baseball and I can't tell Like I
- 24:00Speaker 2: went with Cardona because he threw out the first pitch
- 24:02Speaker 2: on Patriots Day last year, and Otani happened to be
- 24:05Speaker 2: actually pitching, so I was like cool. I stayed for
- 24:07Speaker 2: three innings and I was like.
- 24:09Speaker 6: Did he like snap it between his legs? That would
- 24:13Speaker 6: have looked weird?
- 24:14Speaker 5: You should throw the first pitch. The unfiltered crew throws
- 24:19Speaker 5: the first pitch.
- 24:20Speaker 2: No, he had a good first pitch. He had a
- 24:21Speaker 2: decent first pitch. But it was just like, there's just
- 24:25Speaker 2: no they need to do something for excitement. I mean,
- 24:28Speaker 2: Devers is on the team.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Who else? Like who they?
- 24:33Speaker 4: I have some reasonable expectations of some young guys, but
- 24:40Speaker 4: not to the point where it's going to impact the
- 24:42Speaker 4: major league roster in terms of wins, right Yeah, Like
- 24:45Speaker 4: I like Brian Baale. I like watching him pitch, but
- 24:49Speaker 4: that's like the middle of the rotation starter to me, really,
- 24:52Speaker 4: and he's got.
- 24:53Speaker 6: The ball tonight. But you like you like the new you,
- 24:57Speaker 6: I mean you're you slightly like how they sped things
- 24:59Speaker 6: up though, right that that year and everything?
- 25:01Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, No.
- 25:02Speaker 4: You can watch a game now, whereas like three years
- 25:05Speaker 4: ago the game was unwatchable.
- 25:07Speaker 6: You know who I like And I'm gonna just throw
- 25:09Speaker 6: out the one baseball play right now is the kid
- 25:10Speaker 6: from LSU, Paul Skeens. Have you I'm saying his name right.
- 25:14Speaker 6: I don't know if anybody knows, but he was at
- 25:15Speaker 6: LSU last year and he's just I think he's dating
- 25:17Speaker 6: Livy Dunn.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Yeah, he rizzed up.
- 25:19Speaker 6: Livy Dunn, my son likes, how's the level? He's long
- 25:24Speaker 6: stocket pretty pretty pretty riz risied up, but he's uh
- 25:27Speaker 6: no I I I enjoyed watching him last year in
- 25:29Speaker 6: the in the NCAAs and with Pirates. He throws some fire.
- 25:34Speaker 6: But anyway, I feel like we kind of have to
- 25:36Speaker 6: respond to this one. Sam from Saint Catharine's uh, and
- 25:40Speaker 6: he said, is the constant phone issue another example of
- 25:42Speaker 6: the craft being cheap. Sounds like they haven't invested in
- 25:45Speaker 6: the world's original podcast since it was invented. Would be
- 25:47Speaker 6: interested to see if the PU crew did report cards
- 25:49Speaker 6: similar in NFL p A. How would the Patriots stack up?
- 25:52Speaker 4: Plus?
- 25:53Speaker 6: Does Post feel they stock enough diet pepsi for him?
- 25:55Speaker 6: Does Evan get all his all twenty two fast enough
- 25:57Speaker 6: and in high quality? Does Fred think his press box
- 26:00Speaker 6: spread is up to snuff? Need these answers more?
- 26:02Speaker 4: That's a tough one.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Well, I love this report.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Well, first, let me just say, like, like Matt just
- 26:08Speaker 6: got a whole new board, which is probably part of
- 26:11Speaker 6: the phone problem. We're getting a whole new phone system
- 26:13Speaker 6: that is in the process, the whole studio is about
- 26:14Speaker 6: to get some constructions.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Can we tease the studio?
- 26:17Speaker 6: Have we done? The studio is getting completely remade, so
- 26:20Speaker 6: they'll be at some point you'll probably catch.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I'm probably the only one that's upset about that.
- 26:23Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I think there might be couches, so that
- 26:25Speaker 6: might be more exciting, but I'm not. It's gonna be
- 26:28Speaker 6: like a recliner and will just be chilling. But but
- 26:30Speaker 6: I regard.
- 26:31Speaker 4: I'm still mad about the cameras, so you can imagine
- 26:33Speaker 4: how I'm doing with changing the studio.
- 26:36Speaker 6: No, it's so good for your brand. It's not good
- 26:39Speaker 6: for my brand.
- 26:39Speaker 4: It's good for brand with TikTok st we put you
- 26:42Speaker 4: on the TIC Visual Visual podcast. Not good for Paul's brand.
- 26:46Speaker 2: All of Paul's son's friends were commenting it was great
- 26:49Speaker 2: for engagement because they were all like, mister p misters, no, no, no, no,
- 26:56Speaker 2: it was great for your brand. I still have to
- 26:58Speaker 2: show you the comments.
- 26:59Speaker 5: Mister, mister P's there islet fun.
- 27:04Speaker 4: My fit was tight the drip level.
- 27:08Speaker 6: Colin Mayo said, please God, never say Riz again in
- 27:11Speaker 6: the comments. Fine, Colin, we won't. We're just you know,
- 27:13Speaker 6: we're trying to connect with the kids. But like Alex
- 27:15Speaker 6: is teaching us a whole new vernacular. Why can't we
- 27:17Speaker 6: just go with it? Oh, this is my kid, absolutely.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Oh he's got something called skibbity toilet too, which I
- 27:22Speaker 6: don't know exactly what that is that I don't know.
- 27:24Speaker 6: I mean, he's twelve in middle school.
- 27:26Speaker 4: So it's like all the other stuff I kind of
- 27:28Speaker 4: do just to irritate my kids. Like I would say
- 27:32Speaker 4: a sentence like the one I just said, and they
- 27:34Speaker 4: would just go, don't but don't when you rapped?
- 27:37Speaker 6: Stop? When did when actually like that? When did crocs
- 27:40Speaker 6: and socks?
- 27:40Speaker 4: Beth and I do a do whatever?
- 27:42Speaker 11: That?
- 27:43Speaker 2: Never did when I was in high school, my senior
- 27:45Speaker 2: I don't know if I've ever told the story. I'm
- 27:47Speaker 2: convinced that me and my friends brought Crocs back because
- 27:50Speaker 2: I had a friend on my soccer team. This is
- 27:53Speaker 2: back twenty thirteen, my senior year of high school, and
- 27:55Speaker 2: my friend Jocelyn just showed up to pre season one
- 27:58Speaker 2: year with Orange Crocs, and we just ruthlessly, ruthlessly chirped her.
- 28:02Speaker 5: All the time.
- 28:04Speaker 2: She's an engineer, she's doing amazing. How long story short,
- 28:10Speaker 2: We were like, how funny would it be if we
- 28:12Speaker 2: all got team Crocs and we traded like the bands,
- 28:15Speaker 2: and then we just showed up to our away games
- 28:17Speaker 2: like with crocs, and it was the best soccer shoe
- 28:20Speaker 2: to like take his fleets off, throw those on. Ever
- 28:24Speaker 2: since we started doing it, they've had this I'll call
- 28:27Speaker 2: it a meteoric rise building. I'm just saying. Over the
- 28:31Speaker 2: last ten years are kind of.
- 28:34Speaker 5: In should we should we get some for the guys
- 28:36Speaker 5: down the hall?
- 28:36Speaker 6: I think so they are well Neil, he's not afraid
- 28:40Speaker 6: to rock the crocks and socks. But I've never owned
- 28:42Speaker 6: crocks and I'm gonna guest.
- 28:43Speaker 4: So I can't stay in crocs. But I wear a
- 28:47Speaker 4: lot of slides.
- 28:47Speaker 7: I really do.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Okay, now Nike slides with macalfs, I.
- 28:52Speaker 6: Can't do it.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I was the old Adida slides that had like the
- 28:58Speaker 2: punchy little things.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Good for circulation.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Yeah, they supposed to massage you, but they really hurt.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yeah, they weren't wearable until you picked them all off.
- 29:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:08Speaker 4: I had those smooth ones. But the socks with slides,
- 29:12Speaker 4: I just don't get. No, the only time I ever
- 29:14Speaker 4: did that was baseball. I would you know, my ris
- 29:16Speaker 4: level was high in baseball too, so I would I
- 29:19Speaker 4: would show up when I was pitching with slides on
- 29:21Speaker 4: and I did.
- 29:22Speaker 2: You wear like stirrups and stuff and you.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Look now, sometimes you just had like a sock that
- 29:29Speaker 4: was like.
- 29:29Speaker 6: A that was that that color.
- 29:32Speaker 4: Yeah, like we had in the park league. We had
- 29:35Speaker 4: green and yellow uniforms and I had green socks that
- 29:39Speaker 4: it would just like baseball socks, but they weren't stirrups.
- 29:43Speaker 6: But normally I just wore the stirrups, classic, right, yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 6: classic clean.
- 29:47Speaker 4: And when I first started, like in the mid eighties,
- 29:49Speaker 4: when I got to college, it was high stirrups.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, like the big hat.
- 29:54Speaker 4: Then the pants came down and the sock came down
- 29:56Speaker 4: as by the time I was done, so anyway, the
- 30:00Speaker 4: whole riz level changed. But anyway, just so just to
- 30:05Speaker 4: put a button on the studio, it's like, we're sorry, sorry,
- 30:08Speaker 4: We're sorry for the technical issues, but there are changes
- 30:11Speaker 4: coming and it's it's gonna be pretty it's gonna be
- 30:13Speaker 4: pretty pretty sweet, pretty sweet.
- 30:15Speaker 2: In here, and it's endearing right now.
- 30:18Speaker 6: Nathan's throw together. Nathan from Northern Ireland said crocs should
- 30:21Speaker 6: not be allowed. They're the most shocking looking thing ever
- 30:24Speaker 6: and men should definitely not wear that like I don't
- 30:25Speaker 6: know them, but I mean.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Elite gardening shoe, elite sports shoe, elite boat shoe.
- 30:33Speaker 5: You put them in speed mode, yes exactly.
- 30:36Speaker 6: But you go pick your kid up in middle school,
- 30:38Speaker 6: it is crocs and socks across the board and they've
- 30:40Speaker 6: all got that like big mush haircut with the front
- 30:42Speaker 6: like all kinds of.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Everybody socks.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I've literally been hit on in crocs, so you like,
- 30:48Speaker 2: you can't tell me.
- 30:49Speaker 6: That it's because they hate crocs like that. That was
- 30:52Speaker 6: the man.
- 30:53Speaker 2: I remember this was in Cape Cod and a man
- 30:55Speaker 2: was just like walking by, was trying to go out
- 30:56Speaker 2: on the boat, and I was like, those crocs are sick.
- 30:59Speaker 2: And then like he just like was just talking about
- 31:01Speaker 2: my sty and how cool I looked. I was literally
- 31:03Speaker 2: wearing like an old soccer T shirt and bright purple
- 31:06Speaker 2: crocs with a turquoise stroke.
- 31:07Speaker 4: I actually give credit for actual in person like take
- 31:12Speaker 4: you know, taking any shot.
- 31:14Speaker 6: Yeah, it's old school now. People high behind their phones.
- 31:17Speaker 6: You don't have to get a number and call somebody
- 31:20Speaker 6: out of the blue and a remember me from the
- 31:22Speaker 6: bar the other night, would you like to have dinner?
- 31:24Speaker 6: Sometimes if you haven't made that call, like that makes
- 31:27Speaker 6: me they'll never know. No, that's I mean having to
- 31:30Speaker 6: walk up to somebody. Now you get those digits and.
- 31:32Speaker 4: Text, think about all the different obstacles that you had,
- 31:35Speaker 4: Like I'm going to make this call. The mother or
- 31:39Speaker 4: father could answer, which is going to make me want
- 31:41Speaker 4: to poop myself.
- 31:42Speaker 6: Hello sir? Okay, then you actually like, you know.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Is Jody there?
- 31:50Speaker 5: Who's who's asking may or may not be a fictional name.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Is Jody there?
- 31:55Speaker 6: Paul from the bar the other night? Hold on?
- 31:58Speaker 4: So now you're thinking yourself, hold on? So that means
- 32:03Speaker 4: whoever answered the phone, maybe her sister Lorianne in this case,
- 32:09Speaker 4: is checking with Jody. There's a pall on the phone.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Do you want to talk to him? So if you
- 32:13Speaker 4: come back, you get no, Sorry, she's not home. You
- 32:16Speaker 4: know what that meant? She was right there. You just checked.
- 32:20Speaker 4: She said no, she didn't want to. Now it's devastation
- 32:24Speaker 4: as opposed to well I just snapped her up. Yeah right,
- 32:27Speaker 4: and they whatever, No big deal. You cast a wide net,
- 32:30Speaker 4: you know, yeah, not going to catch everything.
- 32:32Speaker 2: But then if you're lucky enough to get through, you're
- 32:34Speaker 2: limited on the phone because you have one landline, and
- 32:37Speaker 2: it's like I have Okay, So my cousin Jen, this
- 32:40Speaker 2: is a hilarious story. My aunt and uncle changed their
- 32:42Speaker 2: phone number and didn't tell her what the phone number was.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Like my cousin Jen, beautiful girl, beautiful girl. She was
- 32:50Speaker 2: constantly on the phone with her friends. Guys always call
- 32:53Speaker 2: in the houses, and she was in high school. They
- 32:55Speaker 2: straight up, God bless Victor and Fatima, they changed the
- 32:58Speaker 2: phone number and they didn't give it to their teenage daughter.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Awesome, Yeah, that's even I wouldn't do that.
- 33:04Speaker 6: Back when you could do that, I live.
- 33:05Speaker 4: To torture my two kids. Even I wouldn't do that.
- 33:08Speaker 6: It's too many options. It's too easy now, like and
- 33:10Speaker 6: that's why people have like rosters and you just have
- 33:13Speaker 6: one girl like Hall. That was, you know, like a
- 33:15Speaker 6: huge event, Like you can't have like six different people
- 33:17Speaker 6: that you're texting.
- 33:18Speaker 4: But when you get a little older, Mic and you
- 33:20Speaker 4: start to meet people when you go out whatever, and
- 33:22Speaker 4: maybe you know, maybe you get the digits. Yeah, right,
- 33:26Speaker 4: is it the right number? Do you ever get a fake?
- 33:29Speaker 11: Now?
- 33:30Speaker 4: Give a fake number?
- 33:30Speaker 6: Given numbers I've given nobody's asked, I've given fake I've.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Given friends numbers as jokes.
- 33:36Speaker 4: Absolutely I've done that.
- 33:38Speaker 6: People are getting mad us for not talking football, So
- 33:40Speaker 6: we will talk a little football. We'll be dabbled there
- 33:43Speaker 6: for if.
- 33:45Speaker 2: We're doing damned if we don't. You guys are sick
- 33:47Speaker 2: of the draft talk.
- 33:48Speaker 6: You want it?
- 33:48Speaker 4: Whatever, Give the people what they want.
- 33:51Speaker 6: Go watch Patriots Draft Countdown, which we just put out
- 33:53Speaker 6: another episode yesterday.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Tribulations of mid eighties dating looking.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Yeah, well, we'll dance back and forth a little bit.
- 34:01Speaker 6: But I thought this was from Dan and Va in Michigan.
- 34:05Speaker 6: How's for I say, Dan in Virginia via Michigan.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Or Dan Michigan via Virginia or something like that.
- 34:11Speaker 6: But I thought this was a pretty good discussion because,
- 34:13Speaker 6: you know, my boy Gibril Peppers was kind of very
- 34:15Speaker 6: vocal after the rule changes. On Tuesday, there was a
- 34:19Speaker 6: brief discussion about the hip tackle change, with the concern
- 34:22Speaker 6: expressed on the show that the NFL is headed toward
- 34:24Speaker 6: flag football. That concern is fair enough, but how should
- 34:27Speaker 6: the safety concerns in football be balanced against the nature
- 34:30Speaker 6: of the game. Do we just accept that there's an
- 34:33Speaker 6: element of risk? But if so, how much risk would
- 34:35Speaker 6: you be comfortable facing or your children facing. I don't
- 34:37Speaker 6: have an answer, generally wondering how all of you would
- 34:40Speaker 6: thread that needle. I mean, I think that's that's a
- 34:42Speaker 6: great question. I don't think anybody wants to watch flag football.
- 34:44Speaker 6: We love the physicality of the game. I love how
- 34:46Speaker 6: Gibral Peppers plays. I don't want to see him have
- 34:49Speaker 6: to tone it down. So I hear this email. It's
- 34:53Speaker 6: a good question.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's easy. I mean, I think you
- 34:56Speaker 4: do what you can to take the head out of it,
- 34:58Speaker 4: and you don't want, you know, leading with the helmet
- 35:01Speaker 4: helmet shots, you know, and I think they've done a
- 35:03Speaker 4: pretty good job of that. Incidental helmet contact is different.
- 35:08Speaker 4: But legislating you know, high ankle sprains out of the game,
- 35:13Speaker 4: to me is an impossible task.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Well, when you wipe out the head, you're opening up
- 35:17Speaker 5: the lower body. So something's got to give.
- 35:20Speaker 4: And all of these players, when you talk to the
- 35:21Speaker 4: players themselves, and this is why, like, how do you
- 35:23Speaker 4: thread the needle?
- 35:24Speaker 6: Dan?
- 35:24Speaker 4: You talk to players and you see what they would
- 35:26Speaker 4: rather have, and to a man, they would tell you
- 35:28Speaker 4: they'd rather be hit up high than down low. And
- 35:32Speaker 4: I just feel like this tackle in particular, I don't
- 35:39Speaker 4: know what it's gonna look like I'm gonna reserve judgment
- 35:41Speaker 4: to see how it's how it's how it's legislated. Great word, Mike,
- 35:46Speaker 4: but I think it's a just I've seen the videos
- 35:49Speaker 4: and I'm watching videos and I'm like, well, that's not
- 35:52Speaker 4: the same as that. Yeah, I mean these videos are
- 35:54Speaker 4: put together supposedly trying to show us all of these
- 35:57Speaker 4: illegal tackles. They don't all look the same.
- 36:00Speaker 6: I think it was buzzing, so it might have been
- 36:01Speaker 6: busting cream. Yesterday posted a highlight of keyon White like
- 36:04Speaker 6: can't wait to see key on White and it was
- 36:06Speaker 6: I think against the Dolphins, and it was like a
- 36:07Speaker 6: hip drop there. It is like you got some of
- 36:09Speaker 6: the Dolphins guys for some wide and you know emer
- 36:12Speaker 6: we started doing it during the season, probably watching the
- 36:14Speaker 6: games and they'd be like, hip drop, Like it happens
- 36:16Speaker 6: a lot.
- 36:16Speaker 4: And then you get the you know, the plays that happened,
- 36:19Speaker 4: that injuries happened, like Romandre Stevenson against the Chargers, and
- 36:24Speaker 4: to a man, all the Patriots players are like, you can't.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I think David Andrews was like, you can't take that
- 36:28Speaker 4: out of the game. How are they going to make
- 36:30Speaker 4: a tackle it's an unfortunate incident. What you know, the
- 36:33Speaker 4: guy got hurt on a tackle. But like again threading
- 36:39Speaker 4: the needle, like the chop blocks.
- 36:43Speaker 6: There you go.
- 36:44Speaker 4: So when you're engaged with a guy up top, you
- 36:47Speaker 4: can't have another guy come in and hit a guy
- 36:48Speaker 4: in the knees or below the waist. That's a chop
- 36:51Speaker 4: block because the guy has no ability to protect his knees.
- 36:54Speaker 6: That I get.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Take that out. It's not the same as a cut block.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Like you can block a guy one on one low
- 37:02Speaker 4: without it being illegal. You know, because the guy sees
- 37:04Speaker 4: what's going on, he has a chance to avoid the
- 37:06Speaker 4: hit or you know sort of cushion the blow or
- 37:09Speaker 4: whatever it's. It's you know, the the double teams that
- 37:13Speaker 4: were you know, guy's getting you know, someone's diving on
- 37:16Speaker 4: his legs and and whatnot. Take that stuff out. I
- 37:20Speaker 4: just think there's an element of injury that happens in
- 37:22Speaker 4: the NFL that in all sports avoid it. I mean,
- 37:27Speaker 4: what do you do in hockey, do you just like
- 37:29Speaker 4: take the take the boards out of the game so
- 37:31Speaker 4: no one can get smashed into the boards. While Trent
- 37:34Speaker 4: Feverick got the bag beat out of him in that fight.
- 37:36Speaker 6: Huh, Yeah, he gets him last night and he came
- 37:38Speaker 6: back to no.
- 37:39Speaker 5: But it's I mentioned it. On Tuesday there was a
- 37:41Speaker 5: play with Josh Allen against the Steelers. He scrambled like
- 37:44Speaker 5: players just don't want to hit him like it At
- 37:45Speaker 5: what points are we just gonna let them score? Like
- 37:47Speaker 5: you're gonna get fined?
- 37:49Speaker 6: Yah.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I think there's a difference on that play of not
- 37:51Speaker 4: wanting to get hit and not being able to tackle him.
- 37:54Speaker 4: I think there's a difference. I've seen it a million times.
- 37:57Speaker 4: I don't It's not Kenny Pickett in college. Kenny Picktt
- 38:01Speaker 4: in college. The guy Brian Urlacher against the Patriots with
- 38:04Speaker 4: Brady clearly didn't want to hit Brady in the open
- 38:07Speaker 4: field when he made that fake and he got burned
- 38:11Speaker 4: Like that happens every once.
- 38:12Speaker 6: In a while.
- 38:13Speaker 4: I don't think you can legislate that stuff out of
- 38:15Speaker 4: the game. Like guys are going to get hit, they're
- 38:17Speaker 4: going to get hurt, and.
- 38:18Speaker 2: The calls are just going to be so arbitrary. It's
- 38:20Speaker 2: like we're in the place right now where we're like
- 38:21Speaker 2: what is a catch? Now we're going to be like
- 38:23Speaker 2: what is the tackle?
- 38:24Speaker 6: Yeah? Well, I mean it's I was kind of reminded
- 38:26Speaker 6: of the penalty shot call that you have to make,
- 38:28Speaker 6: and in at least the USA Hockey rules, where you
- 38:31Speaker 6: know it's like beyond the blue line, hit from now
- 38:34Speaker 6: clearly in front you know of the play. I should
- 38:37Speaker 6: probably be able to rattle these off. I am a
- 38:39Speaker 6: level four referee. I think the pressure of the show,
- 38:44Speaker 6: you know you're doing like a little checklist.
- 38:45Speaker 4: I knew that guy didn't know what he was doing.
- 38:47Speaker 6: I would say in my defense, like, I know what
- 38:51Speaker 6: a penalty like, I know what a penalty penalty shot is.
- 38:52Speaker 6: I know what I know, you know what it is.
- 38:55Speaker 6: But but they have to define it. And these are
- 38:57Speaker 6: what the officials have. They have all these like different
- 38:59Speaker 6: checklists you you know, have to see and.
- 39:01Speaker 2: It's just it's like lawyers speak almost right.
- 39:03Speaker 6: And and that have to be made in a split second.
- 39:05Speaker 6: And so many of the examples that I see are
- 39:07Speaker 6: the examples that we were talking about when we were
- 39:09Speaker 6: down in Orlando, which is, you know, the guy's a
- 39:11Speaker 6: little bit out of your reach and he's coming diagonally
- 39:14Speaker 6: across your face and you can't really get in front
- 39:16Speaker 6: of him. You have to kind of reach out and
- 39:17Speaker 6: grab and like what do you do. It's just it's
- 39:20Speaker 6: it's it's really hard, and I mean, I just I'll
- 39:22Speaker 6: be curious to see. I think probably in preseason. This
- 39:25Speaker 6: is how it usually works preseason. There'll be a bunch
- 39:27Speaker 6: of them and then everyone will complain and then they'll
- 39:30Speaker 6: ramp it back a little bit. But that's what I'm
- 39:31Speaker 6: interested to see.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I'm interested to see like the fines rock up, like
- 39:35Speaker 2: people are gonna be on Twitter, Oh this this team
- 39:38Speaker 2: has paid this much money each week and find between
- 39:41Speaker 2: all their players.
- 39:41Speaker 5: I'm also interesting if it starts like how taunting did
- 39:44Speaker 5: when they enforced it that one year and it was
- 39:46Speaker 5: just flags every other play, Like it's just like what
- 39:49Speaker 5: you gotta you gotta find a consistent base to it.
- 39:51Speaker 6: Yeah, a good email here from our from one of
- 39:54Speaker 6: our best callers. I think, uh Floyd in Michigan always
- 39:58Speaker 6: brings it on the phone today is mister Floor. But
- 40:00Speaker 6: I'm very much on the same page with Floyd. Although
- 40:02Speaker 6: I know some people aren't good afternoon, Can so many
- 40:06Speaker 6: please stop with the Patriots aren't ready to draft a QB.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Bad teams pick qbs at the top of the draft
- 40:12Speaker 6: all of the time. Did anyone question the rosters of
- 40:15Speaker 6: the Jaguars, Bengals or Panthers before they drafted their qbs.
- 40:19Speaker 6: Please stop this narrative. Draft and Stash. I couldn't agree
- 40:23Speaker 6: more with Floyd. I think what we would all agree.
- 40:26Speaker 6: What it just boils down to is if you just
- 40:29Speaker 6: truly don't believe in the quarterback, then then trade out
- 40:32Speaker 6: of it. But I think Drake May, this is Tuesday.
- 40:34Speaker 4: No, this is what I posted Tuesday morning. And I
- 40:36Speaker 4: don't know when this became a thing. You can't draft
- 40:39Speaker 4: a quarterback if you don't have a roster that can
- 40:40Speaker 4: support it. I don't know when that became a thing.
- 40:44Speaker 4: And people will all pointing to Carolina last year, like, see,
- 40:47Speaker 4: that's what happened. Oh, so that's what happened. Like there's
- 40:50Speaker 4: no dysfunction, there's you know, there's no other problems going on.
- 40:54Speaker 4: It's all just because the roster wasn't good enough for
- 40:56Speaker 4: Bryce Young.
- 40:57Speaker 6: Like all the teams that end up picking in the
- 40:58Speaker 6: top five, stay think they stik for the most just
- 41:02Speaker 6: because they had great Everything was great except the quarterback,
- 41:04Speaker 6: and then they're like, well, thank god, everything's great for
- 41:06Speaker 6: the court.
- 41:07Speaker 4: We finished four and thirteen because we had the best
- 41:10Speaker 4: talent in the league, but just didn't have that quarterback.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Now we can get them.
- 41:14Speaker 6: Like, and I have a descending order because I would
- 41:17Speaker 6: first listen to the people that say they don't have
- 41:19Speaker 6: a left tackle right now. I would first listen to
- 41:22Speaker 6: that kind of argument of the offensive line is scary.
- 41:26Speaker 6: I'm not saying I agree with it, but I'll listen
- 41:28Speaker 6: to that. I can't listen to the people that say
- 41:30Speaker 6: they don't have the pass catchers to make it work,
- 41:33Speaker 6: Like I.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Will only listen to the person that says I don't
- 41:36Speaker 4: want a quarterback because I don't think they're good enough. Yep,
- 41:39Speaker 4: I'll listen to that person all day.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Well, that's when the argument becomes it makes sense, like, yeah, no,
- 41:45Speaker 2: you're not ready to draft a quarterback that's not going
- 41:47Speaker 2: to help.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yeah, if I don't think J Daniels is good enough,
- 41:51Speaker 4: I'm not taking him at three. If I don't think
- 41:53Speaker 4: Drake may or JJ McCarthy or whoever else you want
- 41:56Speaker 4: to plug in, don't take them. And I think that's
- 41:59Speaker 4: a very argument, but to not take him because I
- 42:03Speaker 4: think this guy is really going to be good, but
- 42:06Speaker 4: we don't we're not good enough to help him, Like,
- 42:09Speaker 4: how do you get good enough to help him if
- 42:11Speaker 4: you don't have anything in place, Like it doesn't make
- 42:14Speaker 4: any sense to me. I think Floyd is a thousand
- 42:16Speaker 4: percent right and it is that.
- 42:18Speaker 6: That was the theme of.
- 42:19Speaker 4: My notes this week, Like I don't know when that
- 42:20Speaker 4: became a thing I used to cut, Like the Cincinnati
- 42:23Speaker 4: one is a perfect one. I mean Cincinnati, find yourself
- 42:26Speaker 4: at the number one overall pick with nothing on the roster,
- 42:30Speaker 4: and he got hurt the first year, but he can play.
- 42:33Speaker 6: But they go back and not take him because he
- 42:35Speaker 6: got hurt that first year.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Right again, back to the the guy and Alex. You
- 42:39Speaker 4: may have been gone the other day when someone called in.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Would you rather take Drake May at three and have
- 42:47Speaker 4: him be a bust? Or would you rather not take
- 42:50Speaker 4: Drake May at three and have him turn out to
- 42:52Speaker 4: be an all pro?
- 42:55Speaker 2: I would rather take the bus like you have to.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Everybody has the same answer.
- 42:58Speaker 6: You. Absolutely no, he's I mean, I've said it all.
- 43:01Speaker 6: He's there. He's worth missing on. Like if he missed
- 43:04Speaker 6: on it as.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Like that's exactly right. Like you if you if you
- 43:09Speaker 4: pass up on a guy who turns out to be great,
- 43:12Speaker 4: that's a killer that hurts way more than passing up
- 43:14Speaker 4: a guy who doesn't pan out. All that means is
- 43:17Speaker 4: you're right back when you started and you gotta try again.
- 43:20Speaker 4: But like if that kills you to not you know,
- 43:23Speaker 4: I guess it's the same in terms of the long term,
- 43:25Speaker 4: but I just think it feels so much worse to have.
- 43:28Speaker 2: That chance to get shake it, like for the rest
- 43:30Speaker 2: of that guy's career and if he really proves yea
- 43:33Speaker 2: to be great Bear Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 6: Field, Like, no one faults the Bears for drafting Justin
- 43:41Speaker 6: Fields right, like they missed on him. It didn't me.
- 43:43Speaker 4: It's less about the Bears because the Bears took a quarterback,
- 43:46Speaker 4: they just took the wrong one. It's the other teams
- 43:48Speaker 4: that didn't think Mahomes was worth taking. And I'm sure,
- 43:51Speaker 4: like I go back and look, but I'm sure there
- 43:52Speaker 4: were teams between two and ten or wherever Mahomes went
- 43:56Speaker 4: that could have used a quarterback and said, no, I
- 43:58Speaker 4: don't think he's gonna be that good. I'm gonn I'm
- 44:00Speaker 4: gonna make the safe pick and take the defensive tackle
- 44:03Speaker 4: three hundred and thirty pound guy who stops the run
- 44:05Speaker 4: might so we could control the line of scrimmage.
- 44:08Speaker 6: I do like controlling the line of I know you do.
- 44:09Speaker 4: That's why I'm making fun of you with my control
- 44:11Speaker 4: the line of Scrimma.
- 44:12Speaker 6: Voice that was almost the radio voice, that was more
- 44:14Speaker 6: coach voice. But Nick from Omaha agrees with us. I
- 44:17Speaker 6: personally think we need to take a quarterback. I agree
- 44:20Speaker 6: with the crew. This year's QB classes stuck pretty well.
- 44:23Speaker 6: We got to take the moment. I mean, come on,
- 44:24Speaker 6: we only really have one shot. We cannot This is
- 44:27Speaker 6: turning it into we can miss this chance. The opportunity
- 44:32Speaker 6: only comes once in a lifetime, as he did. I
- 44:33Speaker 6: didn't realize it. I saw reading. But I'm sure Matt
- 44:37Speaker 6: Morel is headbopping back there somewhere. That being said, if
- 44:40Speaker 6: our guys Wolf and Gang don't like a quarterback, are
- 44:42Speaker 6: there any players you'd want to take instead, or would
- 44:44Speaker 6: you rather trade down with the first pick? Personally, I'll
- 44:47Speaker 6: take Alt, but wanted to know your opinion. And then
- 44:50Speaker 6: a follow up with Paul, why is The Bronx Tail
- 44:52Speaker 6: not a good movie? Do you want to tackle that
- 44:53Speaker 6: one first? Who's who's this? Nick from Omaha?
- 44:57Speaker 4: Nick from Oha, I think The Bronx Tale is a.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Very good movie.
- 45:01Speaker 4: I didn't like the ending. I didn't love the ending, all.
- 45:03Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, I think Joe all I mean I.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Ever talked about that on the radio, So I think
- 45:12Speaker 4: I think that's that plan.
- 45:14Speaker 6: You sure you've been doing. You've done a lot of shows,
- 45:16Speaker 6: probably mention that at some point.
- 45:18Speaker 4: I like a bronx too, Like.
- 45:19Speaker 5: If you love you take Joe All over one of
- 45:22Speaker 5: the receivers.
- 45:23Speaker 4: I would trade down.
- 45:24Speaker 6: I mean I would probably try down and try to
- 45:26Speaker 6: get him. But that's that's the hard thing. I don't
- 45:27Speaker 6: think he can thread that needle to get All. You're
- 45:29Speaker 6: probably trade I don't care about it all Like, I
- 45:31Speaker 6: just want to trade down if you're not players.
- 45:33Speaker 5: I agree.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I agree with that, Like if it's not alternate's pushan
- 45:36Speaker 4: or fush And now I think I did it for
- 45:40Speaker 4: fush enough fush, fhush.
- 45:42Speaker 5: I'm in on May over over Jade, and I've officially
- 45:45Speaker 5: decided Yeah yeah, Jake May. I just think where they
- 45:49Speaker 5: and I I'm not saying he's old. Jane Daniel twenty four,
- 45:52Speaker 5: twenty five took him a while to hit his stride
- 45:54Speaker 5: in college. That just take May.
- 45:56Speaker 6: I'm with you, I still I still, you know, I
- 45:58Speaker 6: think Daniels has got a lot offer.
- 46:00Speaker 5: But I just he gets he gets mad, gets himself
- 46:03Speaker 5: killed in college, he got himself killed.
- 46:05Speaker 6: May's young, he's got all the tools, you know. I
- 46:08Speaker 6: just he's the guy for me.
- 46:10Speaker 5: That what I'm hoping Washington doesn't take me.
- 46:12Speaker 6: That's all. And then it's we're gonna know quick.
- 46:15Speaker 5: That's the weird thing.
- 46:16Speaker 4: They're gonna take J J. McCarthy.
- 46:18Speaker 5: That would be amazing.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Does anyone believe that? Is it?
- 46:20Speaker 5: I mean, it's it is literally it's Zach Wilson two
- 46:23Speaker 5: point zer. Like even in the pro day he's wearing
- 46:25Speaker 5: the same type of outfit as Zach Wilson. Is the
- 46:28Speaker 5: exact same throw that's all he was missing. But he
- 46:32Speaker 5: has the gen z poof hair.
- 46:34Speaker 6: Yeah, the broccoli cut. I didn't think that's what they
- 46:36Speaker 6: called it. The broccoli thing.
- 46:37Speaker 4: Is that what it's called something?
- 46:38Speaker 6: I heard somebody call it a brock.
- 46:40Speaker 4: But everybody has to say, you know that is absolutely.
- 46:43Speaker 6: You know, getting a perm up front? No, I I
- 46:46Speaker 6: That's why I kind of like like if if you
- 46:48Speaker 6: had a quarter, like if you were that team that
- 46:49Speaker 6: you'll say you drafted the quarter. Let's say we're Minnesota
- 46:51Speaker 6: and I'm just we're gonna play a game here for
- 46:53Speaker 6: a second. You're Minnesota, you have a young quarterback you
- 46:55Speaker 6: draft the last year that you like. You just but
- 46:57Speaker 6: you have the same holes as the Patriots have otherwise,
- 46:59Speaker 6: Like what do they have eleven and twenty two? Like
- 47:01Speaker 6: I just think that that's perfect. Get to tackle at
- 47:04Speaker 6: eleven and get the receiver at twenty two and you
- 47:06Speaker 6: can hit really good guys and then you got those
- 47:08Speaker 6: two pieces. It's just Patriots don't have the quarterback yet,
- 47:11Speaker 6: so it's hard to say, you know, to really say that.
- 47:13Speaker 6: And I think that's probably what people like Tommy Current say,
- 47:17Speaker 6: get those pieces first.
- 47:18Speaker 4: I mean, he's the he's kind of in my mind,
- 47:20Speaker 4: the one who's leading. And I'm okay, and I'm okay
- 47:22Speaker 4: with that. If you don't think the quarterbacks are any good,
- 47:25Speaker 4: I'm not okay with it. If yeah, I think they're
- 47:26Speaker 4: pretty good, but they need so much more. I don't
- 47:29Speaker 4: get that. That doesn't make sense to me.
- 47:31Speaker 5: I just don't get how like the past two years,
- 47:33Speaker 5: it was like it was it was Drake May and
- 47:35Speaker 5: Caleb Williams and obvious J. D. Daniels came on the scene.
- 47:38Speaker 5: But now it's like, where is this hate come from?
- 47:40Speaker 5: Like that May is not good enough because it.
- 47:41Speaker 4: Was North Carolina.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Yeah, right, right, the whole state.
- 47:45Speaker 6: Well, and it's always kind of nitpicks, and I know
- 47:46Speaker 6: Paul kind of jokingly, but I will bring it up.
- 47:49Speaker 6: Alluded to to Greg Cosell, like you know, listing.
- 47:52Speaker 4: Out that was all but that was a glowing record
- 47:54Speaker 4: from glowing, you know. And and that's why And I
- 47:57Speaker 4: need some time, like I'm not giving him any more
- 47:59Speaker 4: credence than I am inbody else just to be just
- 48:01Speaker 4: because I happen to agree with him doesn't mean he's right. Yeah, Matt,
- 48:06Speaker 4: and the booth writes in, uh, Zoe and Beatle are
- 48:10Speaker 4: convinced the Pats are playing on Christmas Day. Thought, so
- 48:14Speaker 4: I'm glad he brought that up. Is that one of
- 48:17Speaker 4: the new games Wednesday. Christmas Day is Wednesday this year?
- 48:21Speaker 5: Does that mean you have a Thursday game before?
- 48:24Speaker 6: Uh wait, what did they say?
- 48:29Speaker 5: I think so right, that's the only way it would
- 48:30Speaker 5: make sense.
- 48:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't put anything past that league. So you're
- 48:34Speaker 4: telling me they're going to have a Thursday night game
- 48:35Speaker 4: between the Jets and the Patriots and then the following
- 48:38Speaker 4: Wednesday they're going to play on Christmas Day. It won't
- 48:41Speaker 4: be teams from Sunday, because I think it could be
- 48:44Speaker 4: teams from Sunday. I think they can do that. They
- 48:46Speaker 4: do anything, which is why I think that. I'm so
- 48:50Speaker 4: you know, I get so upset about the hip drop stuff. Yeah,
- 48:54Speaker 4: because it's so hypocritical, right, they don't care a lot
- 48:56Speaker 4: about player safety. They don't, they don't pretend to. It's
- 49:01Speaker 4: it's so transparent. And then they do stuff like that
- 49:05Speaker 4: Christmas Day, Like, I don't know how you guys.
- 49:07Speaker 6: What Christmas Day Christmas Eve.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Do you want? They're both great? To me, Christmas Eve
- 49:13Speaker 4: is is better for me. Well, never mind, I spend
- 49:17Speaker 4: that with But so NBA, you watch a lot, you know,
- 49:24Speaker 4: do you watch all of them or like they're a lot.
- 49:27Speaker 2: They're certainly on.
- 49:28Speaker 4: It's five in a row, right, it's five things and
- 49:29Speaker 4: are starting at noon.
- 49:30Speaker 2: It's on all day.
- 49:31Speaker 4: Like I'll watch the Celtics if they play, but I'll
- 49:33Speaker 4: watch one or two other Yeah, and I and they
- 49:35Speaker 4: certainly won't watch like Wired or Wired, even the Celtics.
- 49:38Speaker 4: But I don't have any interest in watching the football
- 49:42Speaker 4: game on Christmas Day. I'm busy doing stuff with my family,
- 49:46Speaker 4: Like I don't really understand, Like I don't even watch
- 49:49Speaker 4: the Thanksgiving games all that much. I usually watch like
- 49:53Speaker 4: most of the Detroit game, but by the time that's over,
- 49:56Speaker 4: we're eating. I'm not watching any of the Dallas game.
- 49:58Speaker 4: And then at night paul A too much and I'm out.
- 50:03Speaker 6: You know, got to put the what do you call
- 50:05Speaker 6: this thing? You have one of those snoring things what
- 50:07Speaker 6: they call us sleep?
- 50:11Speaker 4: I know I don't have one.
- 50:13Speaker 2: My mom's a respiratery therapist if.
- 50:15Speaker 5: You need one, as as as a jew. I love
- 50:19Speaker 5: the games on christ.
- 50:22Speaker 6: Like we're just going to get.
- 50:25Speaker 4: I can't. I mean, unless Zoe and Beatle are right
- 50:29Speaker 4: and we end up playing in the game again, why
- 50:32Speaker 4: are they convinced? I don't think it. Does it make
- 50:35Speaker 4: any sense to you?
- 50:36Speaker 6: No?
- 50:36Speaker 11: Not.
- 50:36Speaker 4: You have a team that right now over under on Christmas.
- 50:39Speaker 4: A team that has an over under or four and
- 50:41Speaker 4: a half wins is going to be playing on Christmas Day.
- 50:44Speaker 2: But maybe if like we had like an exciting rookie
- 50:47Speaker 2: quarterback and we played another team with an exciting young.
- 50:50Speaker 4: I don't know if that happens to me and I'm here,
- 50:53Speaker 4: you know, and I have to that that will be
- 50:55Speaker 4: the only way I would watch the game that plays
- 50:56Speaker 4: on Christmas Day. Is if I'm here and I.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Have to too, we could get each other presence. That
- 51:01Speaker 6: would make it fun.
- 51:02Speaker 5: It would be day or night game.
- 51:04Speaker 4: We know that, Cathay.
- 51:06Speaker 6: Oh no, it would be Tamara's birthday too, so no
- 51:08Speaker 6: one will be more upset than port Tamara Brown. So
- 51:11Speaker 6: she gotta work on her super holiday birthday month. Claire
- 51:16Speaker 6: Claire Wrights in library and everyone. Uh, you guys, do
- 51:20Speaker 6: you love the non football topics mixed with the football stuff?
- 51:24Speaker 6: We do have draft what if fatigue and need some giggles.
- 51:27Speaker 6: Hopefully provided some of those giggles. Football draft topic if
- 51:31Speaker 6: you want, think you know where this one's going? Where
- 51:34Speaker 6: do you think they should take a tight end? Surely
- 51:35Speaker 6: it's a still a good kneed out. I mean I
- 51:37Speaker 6: think that's a Day three But I think you'd got
- 51:39Speaker 6: some some big guys. Ben Sinnett, Senate. Yeah, he's a
- 51:43Speaker 6: hockey guy, so I'm but but athletic, you know, so
- 51:46Speaker 6: you got you know the two guys that you know
- 51:49Speaker 6: they signed Austin Hooper.
- 51:51Speaker 4: These are Day three guys there?
- 51:53Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 51:53Speaker 4: Yeah, why, I mean, you know, I just wanted the
- 51:55Speaker 4: sixth round picks.
- 51:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's that's probably it, but you never know.
- 52:00Speaker 6: I mean, it's it's you know, Jatavian standards, I think
- 52:02Speaker 6: is the top guy and maybe they maybe they see
- 52:05Speaker 6: some value in that. But I wouldn't be opposed to
- 52:07Speaker 6: just grabbing one of these big dudes like Jared Wiley
- 52:09Speaker 6: from TCU, who's just you know, six six to sixty
- 52:12Speaker 6: and you know, it's more of a third tackle kind of.
- 52:14Speaker 5: I wish they took Washington was a Washington, yeah, the Steelers. Yeah,
- 52:17Speaker 5: guy was a house.
- 52:18Speaker 6: He's just a weird, weird, lengthy body type, you know.
- 52:23Speaker 6: So yeah, Claire, I know, I know you're looking out
- 52:24Speaker 6: for those tight ends. I do think it's a need.
- 52:26Speaker 6: But but real quick, we did you know we did
- 52:28Speaker 6: hear from Austin Hooper last week. I thought, you know,
- 52:30Speaker 6: it was interesting him. You know, everybody seems to love
- 52:33Speaker 6: Alex van Pell, like every guy that he seems like
- 52:35Speaker 6: a nice talk to everybody just as what a great
- 52:37Speaker 6: guy is. It's so fun to be around him, the
- 52:40Speaker 6: stories that he shares from his time in the league
- 52:42Speaker 6: and stuff. So you know, that's just it's just it's
- 52:45Speaker 6: a recurring topic anytime these guys come in. But you
- 52:47Speaker 6: know just Hooper's experience across the the different teams that
- 52:51Speaker 6: he's played with. I think he said he's played in
- 52:52Speaker 6: six offenses. They've really been searching for a second tight
- 52:57Speaker 6: end for a while now, right, I mean going back
- 52:59Speaker 6: to even you know what, I guess you go back
- 53:01Speaker 6: to when they had Bennett and that was probably the
- 53:03Speaker 6: last time they had, you know, two guys, and otherwise
- 53:05Speaker 6: they've just been you know, trying to find that second guy,
- 53:08Speaker 6: trying you know, well, I mean they have them, sticky,
- 53:10Speaker 6: they really are. They have them, but it never becomes
- 53:13Speaker 6: they need.
- 53:15Speaker 2: And Faraoh last year.
- 53:18Speaker 4: They had, they had the guys. It's just I don't
- 53:21Speaker 4: think that their offense is good enough to like take
- 53:24Speaker 4: advantage of it.
- 53:25Speaker 6: Uh, little listener on listener Crime here every from Springfield.
- 53:31Speaker 6: I love that loving virtual bombs over the inner.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Shane, do you know Shae on Springfield?
- 53:38Speaker 6: Shane, do you like girls and crocs? Uh? Only silver lining?
- 53:42Speaker 4: So I don't know why that sounded exceptionally creepy, but
- 53:44Speaker 4: it's a it's.
- 53:46Speaker 6: A given talent.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Pole.
- 53:47Speaker 6: I can say most things that make them sound creepy. Uh,
- 53:49Speaker 6: only silver lining to the phones being down as we
- 53:51Speaker 6: can't hear another god awful call from Christian in l
- 53:53Speaker 6: a man. That guy needs to touch grass.
- 53:58Speaker 2: That's my favorite.
- 53:59Speaker 5: And these things grass mats?
- 54:00Speaker 6: What does that mean? Like come back to do it right, get.
- 54:05Speaker 4: Out of the house. Once in a while.
- 54:07Speaker 2: I found this term. I can't quote it to anyone,
- 54:10Speaker 2: but I love it. It's called chronically online.
- 54:13Speaker 6: This is another good one that Shane Shane keeps going.
- 54:16Speaker 6: Shane ain't done, Shane ain't done. It also saves us
- 54:19Speaker 6: another call from Biggie who thinks he's the good will
- 54:21Speaker 6: hunting of truck drivers when it comes to the draft.
- 54:24Speaker 6: Guy thought Quentin Johnston was the next Randy Moss last year,
- 54:27Speaker 6: and hell for not liking the vibes on Jamison Williams,
- 54:29Speaker 6: who hasn't done anything in the last two years.
- 54:31Speaker 4: James and Williams is different. That's not that's incorrect. Quentin
- 54:35Speaker 4: Johnston won to that. That's accurate.
- 54:36Speaker 6: As much as he like, just like build a GM,
- 54:39Speaker 6: his own track record is getting just as bad. You
- 54:41Speaker 6: can't well.
- 54:43Speaker 5: Williams came to the league with a c L No.
- 54:45Speaker 5: Eldris slander allowed.
- 54:46Speaker 6: We love Eldrick.
- 54:48Speaker 4: Uh No, You're we gotta be fair. We take everybody's
- 54:52Speaker 4: open game, everybody takes shots. No one says, you can't
- 54:56Speaker 4: make fun of mine.
- 54:57Speaker 6: I get it all. Can't make I was saying, because
- 55:00Speaker 6: tease got a little you know, unfriendly fire, and I said, you.
- 55:03Speaker 5: Know, tease off on the halftime.
- 55:05Speaker 6: Some people love you and some people don't. There you go,
- 55:10Speaker 6: it's a you know from I gotta be meaning, so
- 55:12Speaker 6: I gotta be free. Little wisdom from Revenge of the Nerds.
- 55:15Speaker 5: There.
- 55:16Speaker 6: SPE's got a little off topic here, So let's let's
- 55:19Speaker 6: dabble back into the job space. Off topic be here.
- 55:21Speaker 6: Please don't talk about beeping football today. Instead, let's get
- 55:25Speaker 6: your most embarrassing sports or non sports stories.
- 55:29Speaker 5: Now was a halftime show?
- 55:31Speaker 6: Mine is scoring against my team and youth basketball, or
- 55:34Speaker 6: being a fat kid having to waste wrap the ball
- 55:37Speaker 6: in front of my girls. I'm sure skins days. I
- 55:39Speaker 6: feel you there speed Uh. And outside of sports, I
- 55:42Speaker 6: barf cheese. It's all over my jeans on the first
- 55:44Speaker 6: day at preschool.
- 55:45Speaker 2: Uh.
- 55:45Speaker 6: Please open the vaults and entertain us with your most
- 55:47Speaker 6: colorful instances of humiliation. I got a couple. Somebody threw
- 55:53Speaker 6: a lot of gum getting off the bus when I
- 55:54Speaker 6: was in like seventh grade into my hair, and I
- 55:56Speaker 6: had to go to the nurse and she just she
- 55:58Speaker 6: didn't give a crash.
- 56:00Speaker 4: And then I had these like big balls on the
- 56:02Speaker 4: back of my hair. That was kind of holy lawsuit
- 56:06Speaker 4: if that happened today, throwing a while to go, no
- 56:09Speaker 4: open out of my hair, just cutting it out of
- 56:11Speaker 4: your hair without anybody's permission.
- 56:13Speaker 6: If I had a broccoli cut, I could just I
- 56:14Speaker 6: could have messed it up and covered it. But it
- 56:16Speaker 6: was back in the day at the flat top, which
- 56:18Speaker 6: which I discovered after like most of my youth having
- 56:21Speaker 6: just a bowl cut like Lloyd Christmas. And then you know,
- 56:24Speaker 6: I'm like I hated my hair. I mean I remember
- 56:26Speaker 6: being like in like I don't know, fourth grade, be
- 56:28Speaker 6: like I hate my hair so many like the stupid
- 56:29Speaker 6: stuff you care about. And then went to like my
- 56:32Speaker 6: mom took me to the salon and they were like
- 56:34Speaker 6: they they brusted out this giant comb that actually had
- 56:37Speaker 6: like a level, you know, like like a like a
- 56:39Speaker 6: liquid like with the ball in the middle, and they
- 56:41Speaker 6: you know, put it right in the top and then
- 56:42Speaker 6: they would shave it and you know, they give you
- 56:44Speaker 6: the wax and then you had like the the Ivandrago
- 56:47Speaker 6: flat top so I m bank you right. What do
- 56:50Speaker 6: you guys got.
- 56:51Speaker 5: I'll go all right cold soccer. I hard to believe
- 56:54Speaker 5: I had an afro, all right, I know, and uh
- 56:58Speaker 5: I grew I grew it out for like six months.
- 57:00Speaker 5: It was crazy or playing went up to head, the
- 57:02Speaker 5: ball just went right off the hair bound coach just
- 57:05Speaker 5: screaming at me. I went right after the game, straight
- 57:07Speaker 5: to the barber. Cut it right off, instantly, had to
- 57:10Speaker 5: be done.
- 57:10Speaker 4: It never grew back.
- 57:11Speaker 5: It went right quick. Clearly I didn't.
- 57:15Speaker 6: That was the last time you had hair?
- 57:16Speaker 5: Yeah, very much. I should have kept it.
- 57:20Speaker 6: What else? What did you got? Sports story story on
- 57:22Speaker 6: the show before?
- 57:23Speaker 5: But halftime show tune in?
- 57:24Speaker 6: Oh yeah, there you go.
- 57:25Speaker 2: No, even on the show, I think like a year
- 57:27Speaker 2: or two ago, I think we talked about yeah, my
- 57:29Speaker 2: famous line, I ate poop after on the hurdles, right,
- 57:33Speaker 2: Oh me, Yeah, I don't have anything crazy embarrassing.
- 57:37Speaker 6: I'm trying to think. I know, I'll probably think of
- 57:39Speaker 6: him off the air that that they'll come back to me.
- 57:41Speaker 6: But it occurred to us maybe later in the show.
- 57:43Speaker 4: Let's uh, I have a million of them.
- 57:45Speaker 6: Let's move on here.
- 57:46Speaker 4: I'm really in the lead athlete and I've never aired
- 57:49Speaker 4: on the field.
- 57:51Speaker 5: Jeffrey.
- 57:52Speaker 6: Jeffrey from Canada, I completely disagree with Fred's take on
- 57:55Speaker 6: cooking of steak. He thinks you shouldn't even be allowed
- 57:57Speaker 6: to eat it unless it's rare. People should get their
- 58:00Speaker 6: steak however they like, without being judged. Fred gets upset
- 58:03Speaker 6: about well done. I've also felt pretty queasy sitting at
- 58:06Speaker 6: a table watching someone try to cut into a piece
- 58:08Speaker 6: of beef that's completely red, barely even warm. It's like QB.
- 58:11Speaker 6: Some like Daniels, some like may, what's your steak cut? Yeah,
- 58:16Speaker 6: I'm medium. If it's a good place, medium rare, I'll
- 58:19Speaker 6: go medium rare.
- 58:20Speaker 4: Medium, I would say. But Fred gets really out of it.
- 58:23Speaker 4: You can't have it like, well.
- 58:25Speaker 6: You got it.
- 58:25Speaker 5: It's tight like blue. You just fund the girl real quick.
- 58:29Speaker 5: One flip.
- 58:29Speaker 2: I learned in an anthropology class in college that how
- 58:32Speaker 2: you like your steak and your eggs, if you like
- 58:35Speaker 2: your steak rare and your egg's runny, signifies you're of
- 58:39Speaker 2: like a higher socioeconomic class, because, if you think about it,
- 58:42Speaker 2: if you like your meat well done your eggs cooked through,
- 58:45Speaker 2: there was probably a higher chance that you're trying to
- 58:47Speaker 2: cook out bacteria and not get sick. Your food's not
- 58:50Speaker 2: as fresh, not as good.
- 58:51Speaker 6: So uh medium Erica right here thought, there you go.
- 58:54Speaker 6: I thought Alex and Raleig appreciate the what.
- 58:57Speaker 4: If you're in the middle, Yeah, in the middle of class.
- 59:00Speaker 6: There you go.
- 59:01Speaker 2: Wow, sometimes you can afford it.
- 59:03Speaker 6: Sometimes, Uh, they appreciate the offseason talk. There's only so
- 59:07Speaker 6: many times everyone can say to take a QB and
- 59:09Speaker 6: do what's best for the team. Everyone complaining about no
- 59:11Speaker 6: football needs to get outside and see this on.
- 59:15Speaker 4: I'm gonna throw that in with my wriz There you go,
- 59:19Speaker 4: touch grass.
- 59:19Speaker 6: I feel like there's gonna be some stuff getting clipped
- 59:23Speaker 6: off this show. Has anyone in the panel heard the
- 59:26Speaker 6: Julian Edelman podcast with Slater? I thought it offered some
- 59:28Speaker 6: interesting perspective into how the team was when they were together,
- 59:31Speaker 6: and Slater talks a little about last year and how
- 59:34Speaker 6: he went down with the ship. Can we get Slater
- 59:36Speaker 6: on the show and ask him questions or Paul getting
- 59:38Speaker 6: Slater for pats from the past. Keep the riz rizzing rising.
- 59:41Speaker 4: Sorry, so Slater will definitely be a candidate for us
- 59:44Speaker 4: to talk to, you know, let him settle in a
- 59:48Speaker 4: little bit and see exactly what he's gonna do.
- 59:52Speaker 6: I've seen some clips of him and Edelman. There's some
- 59:54Speaker 6: some some really funny stuff.
- 59:56Speaker 2: I did not two hours.
- 59:57Speaker 4: I did not see the podcast, though I am aware
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: of some clips that people have quoted on Twitter, But
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: did anybody watch?
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I heard him talking about him almost leaving in
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, almost went to the Steelers, but I think
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: ultimately the Patriots called him when he was at the airport,
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: and Yeah, that was it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: I like the little nuggets him talking about Edelman being
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: kind of the only guy that could cut out cal
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: out Brady a little bit, almost Edelman almost getting in
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: fights with Chad o'sheay and in practice Edelman being the
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: guy who always would throw his helmet down in frustration.
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: I mean, everything was believable that that Slater shared. But
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: I mean it kind of started with the Dynasty and
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: it continued with this. It's a whole different vibe with
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: Matthew Slater these days. Like it's it's it's it's like relaxed, loose,
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: shooting from the hips later and not like measured locker
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: room speech Slater that that we're kind of used to.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I had seen some things about the you know,
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: the dynasty, and I don't really I'm not. I don't care.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: I don't you know, like they all talked on the Dynasty,
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: they all said what they had to say. I understand
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: the frustration for you know, specifically with like McCarty saying
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: that I told stories and they only told half of
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: what I said. They only aired. I get that, but
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: you know you said what you said. You got to
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: you got to live by it. The one thing that's
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: later said in that thing not related to the dynasty,
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: I really liked right up my alley ripping the officials.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Yes, you could tell that officials very specific. He's been
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: mentally filing these grievous.
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: I know. I gotta admit though. Somebody at the bottom
- 1:01:36Speaker 6: of the clip showed the clip of what he was
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: complaining about, and I was kind of like, very much like.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: I remember, that was the bread, That was the breed again,
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: that was that was the Tampa game.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Credit the officials of losing.
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: I watched again.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: It was like he said, shame on them.
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: I love it.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I love seeing him fired up.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: That's good. This one probably a little more for you
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: guys though from Christian it's you're take your ball and
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: go home. No, no, no, I just know nothing about basketball.
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: If the NFL were to introduce city jerseys like the NBA,
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: what would the Patriots jerseys look like? Well, we don't
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: have a city, though we have a we have three
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: five states, right the borough is that it's not six states?
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: What do they look we not count them all?
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: Is it a borrow? I don't know.
- 1:02:20Speaker 4: Connecticut and I can kind of take it or leave
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: it because they're half and half.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: You have half Connecticut.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: I speak the truth.
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: I mean half of Connecticut is Oh, there's a lot
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: of Connecticut that doesn't have any interest in.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: The barely hanging in barely Hmmm.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: I don't know because like the jerseys, the jerseys flip,
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: you know what I mean, Like like for the NBA,
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: theyre always a little bit different. Some like go back
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: to like something with the city I've seen.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: Can I ask you, guys, and I assume that both
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: of you are into all the different uniforms in the NBA?
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: Do you like those?
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: Depends on the.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Celtics on are usually pretty mid.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: It depends which one it is we're hitting all the
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: Millennia really great.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Celtics sent that one I've used many times it would
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: just be America.
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: I saw a cool Celtics concept of American tower.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: I was just going to bring this up. You took
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: the word out of my mouth. The big paint water
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: tower in Dorchester.
- 1:03:10Speaker 11: Oh.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: Someone made a Celtic city jersey with the paint stripes
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: on it, and it was pretty fire.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: I can't like I would buy.
- 1:03:16Speaker 4: It pretty fire.
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: Pretty fire mostly, I.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Think pretty fire is a little outdated at this point.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: That's why you felt like you were taking it back
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: a little bit. It was just smacks, riz smacks, smack, slaps,
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: slap slaps, No, no, no, they I'm just going to tell you.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: My little sister says, gas, gas.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Slaps, and smacks are all used.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: It is hanging on to my thread.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: My little sister texted me and she's been watching The Dynasty,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: my twenty one year old sister, which is just hilarious
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: because she's not a big football fan. But she's like,
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: why are they so mean to Bill? He seems lit?
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: Oh my god, a different perspective, right, I know, twenty
- 1:03:54Speaker 4: one year old didn't really experience any of the winds.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: She's just sweet and innocent.
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: We're going to keep her that way. I like this
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: one from Raphael. I just I feel similar. I was
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: excited when the Pats drafted Mac Jones. I even bought
- 1:04:05Speaker 6: his jersey on draft night. It was a new era
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: for the Pats. Now entering another new era with any
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: QB the Pats draft this draft, should I be as
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: excited to even think about buying their jersey on draft night?
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: How old are you?
- 1:04:19Speaker 6: Are you a man?
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: That's usually the comment that comes out of the help,
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: but I, I mean, I would just speak to that
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: was that was one of my favorite kind of moments
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: since you know, working here.
- 1:04:33Speaker 6: Was that on field when Matt came in and part
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: of was.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: Except that number two after Brady signing with Tampa Bay.
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: Perfect. Yes, it's called we got rid of that guy
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: twelve one seasons, don't want him. But it was, you know,
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: we were kind of coming out of COVID and we
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: had you know, we got back to the jersey presentation
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: on the field and it was just you know, it
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: did it felt like a new start. And I think
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: any quarterback or first round pick, and you know, hopefully
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: it's Drake May you know, out there on the field,
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: but I think that I would be super excited. And
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: if there were people that wanted to jump and get
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: that jersey. I say, yeah, you know, go for it
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: and maybe just take that Mac ten and you know, yeah,
- 1:05:08Speaker 6: I mean I modify it.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: I mean you need to like sort of watch these
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: guys a little bit and find out, like what you
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: like and who you like.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: I would never buy a jersey that wasn't like like
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: a Brady or an Artise.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't buy a rookie jersey.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: And because you just change your number probably anyways too.
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: That's another good point.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: But you just three weeks, like, how do you know
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: a guy is going to be great? But in terms
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: of being excited, like, you know, I was the opposite
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: of you, Like I didn't think anything of Mac Jones
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: in that draft. I didn't understand why he was a
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: first round pick and I wasn't happy that we took him.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: But that doesn't mean that I'm not going to be
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: excited about the next guy they taken it because that
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: might be you know, if it's JJ McCarthy, I'll probably
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: feel pretty similar. Yeah, me too, you know, but if
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: it was Drake may or Jayden Daniels, I think I'd
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: be pretty excited about it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 6: I'll tell you though from the comments we did, and
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: we you know, Evan did a first film breakdown of
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: McCarthy and people he's he's the most polarizing player in
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: this draft right now. And I know he's having a
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: little bit of a moment right now where you know,
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: some people have him even going third overall to the Patriots.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: But he touches grass, He touches, he takes his cleats
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: and socks off and walks around in the turf, so
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: he can really.
- 1:06:20Speaker 6: Before But I like, the comments on the video are
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: so just like, this guy's amazing. This guy is terrible.
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: Like I don't think I've ever seen a more divisive prospect,
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: especially right now where he's, you know, kind of, like
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: I said, having a moment And.
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: I just don't know about him because I just haven't
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: seen it. Not that I haven't seen him play well,
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: I'm just I haven't seen him play the way the
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: other guys have played in terms of carrying their offenses
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: and whatnot.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: Sam Sam from Saint Catherine's bringing up Caleb Williams never
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: understood the criticism on Caleb Williams about his crying or
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: his dad speaking out. Uh from being the Boston from
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: the Boston media fan bage base at large. I can't
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: think of any quarterback I've seen crime more than Tom Brady.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: And it's not like a great point I've made many
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: time to himself.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: Uh you know that she makes the point too or
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: he sorry? Sam? Uh? You know Tom Senior, he seemed
- 1:07:13Speaker 6: to be certainly after Tom left, T became a little
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: bit more vocal. But I you know, was it was
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: I talking to you about like I was talking to
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: somebody upstairs about like what if Caleb Williams fell to three?
- 1:07:24Speaker 6: And I'd be like, well, awesome, go for it. Like
- 1:07:26Speaker 6: I mean, it's I feel like it's gonna go Either
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: it's gonna be an amazing success or it's going to
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: be a train wreck. But either way I would sign
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: up for it.
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: So let's play with that for a second. What would
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: you feel like if he felt fell to three?
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: Would you be like draft day?
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: Yeah, what's wrong with it?
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: Nobody went to his birthday party?
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: What's wrong with them?
- 1:07:45Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: But I mean the guy is crazy talented and you
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: know that the paint nails and all, I'm like, let's go.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: I don't get the dad speaking out thing too, Like
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: that's just.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: Well that that can be an issue. Like, look like
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: the LeVar.
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: Ball thing got to two of his kids the league.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and they can be They can be an issue,
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: is what I'm saying now. I don't understand the crying thing. Yeah,
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: like Tim Tebow cried every game like for something, win, lose,
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: Like just emotional guy. To go back to the dot,
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: Tim Tebow couldn't play in the NFL, but in college
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: he was the ultimate competitor in winter right in.
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: That's a lot into the sport.
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: It's gonna be some guys are sensitive and emotional. Brady, Like,
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: you go back and watch the documentary. Even the players say,
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: you know Tommy was sensitive.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Yeah, well tom I didn't have a pink phone case
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: and apparently glass now too like it.
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: But is that why he can't play?
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: I'm making fun of.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: These are the kids, But I would think that these
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: are the kinds of things that someone like my generation
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: would be, Like, I don't want my quarterback doesn't have
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: his nails pant, What do I care what he does?
- 1:08:59Speaker 6: I would just throw. I just draw a little bit
- 1:09:02Speaker 6: of a distinction, And like the fact that he cried
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: doesn't doesn't bother me. Where I start to get questions
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: is when it feels performative, and when it feels you know,
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: like Tom, it just feels like, all of a sudden,
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: the mood hits him and you're like, oh boy, here
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: we go, you know, like it does it never to
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: me at least felt like he's like, I'm going to
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: turn on the emotion right here to just show everybody
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: how much I care. Like he just feels like that.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: So my only thing William a different impression of the
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: Brady six than I did then, because I thought that
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: was his performative.
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: As I'm interested about the Dad thing because Shador next
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: year with Dion, Dion's already been loud.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: Dion's got his hands full of his right.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: No, I don't even worry about Dion, Like he's already.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: He's already saying he's gonna pull an Eli if he
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: was to go to some teams.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: And the other guy too twelve.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: Which is John Travis Hunter.
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's already told them. I think there's a
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: couple of others. He's already said they're gonna put out
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: a short list and guys like Florial or a plotting

- 1:10:05Speaker 6: going to be. I mean we talked about it before.
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: It's these guys aren't coming into the league like I
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: made it, like they've already kind of made it financially.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: A guy like Caleb Williams, you know, is different because
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: he's made so much, Like those are national ads that
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: he's in that that's major money. Most of these ni
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: OL guys, the money is way overblown.
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: They got to do. Have you seen those ads where
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: they get like a different Caitlin Clark and they do
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: you know it's like this average woman named Claitland Clark
- 1:10:33Speaker 6: and then yeah, yeah, they got to do one of
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: those two.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: Uh all right, well Mike, Mike's foods here me.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: And Paul's food is here. But hey, Patriotsons, if you

- 1:12:14Speaker 5: And we are back with another edition of the PU
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: halftime Show. I heard it was dull, so Chris Cassidy's
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: here with me. We're sitting tops off in the side studio.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: We're living it up a little. All right. We're gonna
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: start off with stuff. I'm joking by the way, tops
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: are on. We're gonna start with some trivia here. Chris,
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: don't answer it, but you know if you get the
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: trivia right, send your answers into web radio at Patriots
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: dot com. Question number one, how many touchdown passes did
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: Tom Brady throw to Chris Hogan? All right? Question two?
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: What was Tom Brady's overall record against Peyton Manning? And
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: question three how many rushing touchdowns did Cam Newton have
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: for the Patriots? All right? Send your answers in the
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: web radio at Patriots dot dot com. And Chris, you
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: you actually picked the topic for this one. You want
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: to rip through it real quick?
- 1:13:03Speaker 13: I mean, yeah, just going through our top five receivers
- 1:13:06Speaker 13: I feel in the league right now, right now, and
- 1:13:08Speaker 13: then we'll discuss where we feel in the league. Neighbors
- 1:13:11Speaker 13: and excuse me, Marvin Harrison Junior will.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: Fit all right, do you want to rip first? You
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: want me to go?
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: No?
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: You go all right, and I'm going are we going
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: to like in a row or.
- 1:13:19Speaker 11: Just top started five, started five and then working start five?
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: All right? All right?
- 1:13:23Speaker 13: No, because okay, actually say you're top four and then
- 1:13:26Speaker 13: we can say.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: Yeah, because we both have a sneaky potential. Five is interesting.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: All right, all right, I'm just gonna go album, and
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: I'll tell you my my honorable man. That's we missed out.
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: Number five, Scary Terry Terry mclaurd, all right. Number four,
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: Davante Adams and he's just no, I'll tell you why
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: he's there, all right. Number three Jamar Chase, Number two, Tyreek,
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: number one, Justin Jefferson.
- 1:13:53Speaker 13: Okay, all right, all right, so my five to one
- 1:13:57Speaker 13: Jamar Chase A J. Brown ceedee lamb Tyreek kill all right,
- 1:14:03Speaker 13: Justin Jefferson.
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: All right. So I had aj aj was my flip
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: flop for five, and I put Terry there just because
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: he's been he's doing a lot with some bad quarterbacks.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: So but I straight up I like Justin Jefferson's most
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: talented but I think Tyreek is the most dangerous receiver
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: in the league. He played outside, playing the slide. He
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: gets the ball in his hands, a good luck.
- 1:14:22Speaker 13: Catch him Justin Jefferson obviously wasn't fully healthy last year either, So.
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: I mean that's the thing with Davante Adams too.
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: But like as Devontay Adas and like the twenty nineteen
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: to twenty twenty one unstoppable, I would put him probably
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: number one or two.
- 1:14:35Speaker 13: He also was getting a lot of targets this past year.
- 1:14:37Speaker 13: It's lesson normal.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: I think he had jumped the gun a little early
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: on his move to to Vegas. That might have screwed
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: him a little probably, But all right, you want to
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: talk about the rookies.
- 1:14:47Speaker 11: I mean, if you want to jump into it was no, no, no.
- 1:14:50Speaker 13: My honorable mention for this list was Dj Moore. I
- 1:14:53Speaker 13: think I think, no, he's not he's good.
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: He's good. He's good.
- 1:14:57Speaker 13: I think you put Dj Moore with the quality quarterback,
- 1:15:00Speaker 13: which hopefully, I mean the Bears are lining it up
- 1:15:03Speaker 13: like Kayleb Williams is that guy. So if Kayleb Williams
- 1:15:06Speaker 13: gonna throwing the ball Dj Moore, I think the Bears
- 1:15:08Speaker 13: could have very dynamic offense. I think DJ Moore is
- 1:15:11Speaker 13: a very underrated wide receiver. My I guess receiver was
- 1:15:16Speaker 13: Mike Evans, which.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: I know you don't like separate topic right there, but
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: I do have my.
- 1:15:24Speaker 13: Fair share of takes on Mike Evans, but I do
- 1:15:26Speaker 13: think he's a good receiver. And I mean that's my guess.
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: And so let let's preface this. I guess we're kind
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: of going off the past season because you know, like
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: like we have Debo but he was kind of banged up,
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: Pooka had a crazy season, Like we didn't even mentioned
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: Cooper cup No, and like that, we're just going off
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: last season because obviously Mike Evans kind of goes into
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: a J Brown territory. Mike Evan's a little bit older,
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: but you know, like slowing down little same with Stefon Diggs.
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: So you know, you can't forget these guys. But obviously,
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: you know there's about there's about fifteen like very elite
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: of the elite right now and the past that it's
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: a different story. All right, Let's talk about the two rookies,
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: all right. We got neighbors and Marvin Harrison Junior, and
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: I know we're gonna get into this in a couple
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: weeks on the draft countdown, So we talk about that later,
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: but let's talk about these two guys, kind of consensus
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: top two guys.
- 1:16:14Speaker 13: So as of right now, Molik Neighbors as we speak,
- 1:16:17Speaker 13: as we're rolling with this halftime show, he is in
- 1:16:21Speaker 13: his pro day and he's had a dominant start. Yep
- 1:16:24Speaker 13: ran a four to three, five forty yard dash and
- 1:16:26Speaker 13: forty two inch vertical.
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: Lazaar's there right now, Abe see.
- 1:16:32Speaker 13: Right now in LSU And I mean, let me tell you,
- 1:16:35Speaker 13: this kid is showing a lot of promise and he's
- 1:16:39Speaker 13: somebody that could jump Marvin Harrison in the draft rankings
- 1:16:42Speaker 13: if he keeps this up. Marvin Harrison refusing to do
- 1:16:44Speaker 13: any sort of.
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: Workouts, which I'm not gonna knock him for, no.
- 1:16:47Speaker 11: No, absolutely not. I mean to each his own.
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: Do you, But but when it comes to like your
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: status on the draft board the way it is, if
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: you don't do the workouts and stuff, you're gonna just
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: slide a little.
- 1:16:57Speaker 11: Right.
- 1:16:57Speaker 13: You want to showcase what you can do, and I
- 1:16:59Speaker 13: think Elie Neighbors has really done a great job with that.
- 1:17:02Speaker 13: And again, as at this moment, they're in the throwing
- 1:17:05Speaker 13: portion of this pro day, So we don't one hundred
- 1:17:08Speaker 13: percent know what's going on there. But he's got jayde Daniels.
- 1:17:11Speaker 13: He had a great quarterback throwing in the ball, Marvin
- 1:17:14Speaker 13: Harrison Junior. I mean again, one of the most dynamic
- 1:17:17Speaker 13: receivers in the Big Ten last year they're in college football,
- 1:17:21Speaker 13: I should say Kyle mccorth throwing the ball to him,
- 1:17:24Speaker 13: So a little bit of a different dynamic. Dare I
- 1:17:28Speaker 13: think if you their first season when they enter the league,
- 1:17:32Speaker 13: who do you think has a better chance of falling
- 1:17:34Speaker 13: into a place with the Justin Jeffersons, tyree K.
- 1:17:37Speaker 6: C Lambs, et cetera.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: It just depends, really depends where they go. Man Like
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: I say, Neighbors goes to to La Like, I think
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: it's gonna be Neighbors. It's gonna be that number one target.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: If Quentin Johnson doesn't play as badly as he did
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: this year, it's gonna work out because you never know
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: what the Cardinals. You got Kyler who's like still not
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: a hundred, Like he's back, but he's not. He hopefully
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: is still full Kyler Again, I think it sometimes just
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: ends up where you fall and Neighbors has the potential
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: to hit have that pookin Nikoua type jump onto the scene.
- 1:18:09Speaker 13: The Cardinals also considering trading back from number four, which
- 1:18:13Speaker 13: is an interesting.
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: Hey, if you can get it, you can get a
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: haul of draft picks and then maybe still get Marvin
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: or even Neighbors. You're good.
- 1:18:22Speaker 13: Yeah, it'll be interesting. I think Marvin Harrison obviously has
- 1:18:24Speaker 13: a lot of upside. We've talked a lot about him,
- 1:18:27Speaker 13: but depending on where he ends up going, Like you said,
- 1:18:30Speaker 13: it all kind of comes down to the draft, and
- 1:18:33Speaker 13: a lot of these decisions are gonna happen following trades,
- 1:18:36Speaker 13: and I think it'll be a very interesting lead up
- 1:18:38Speaker 13: to the draft, within the final the final two or
- 1:18:41Speaker 13: three days, even on draft Day.
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: Yeah, and guys, we're also just talking about Neighbors and
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: Marvin Harrison here. There are also some other great receivers
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: that like that can make some noise. But obviously you
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: see the top two, you want to talk about them.
- 1:18:51Speaker 5: So absolutely, I'm very excited to see how this turns
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: out for them.
- 1:18:55Speaker 11: Yeah, it'll be good. And you also have Roma Dunes.
- 1:18:57Speaker 13: As well, and that top list is with the two
- 1:18:59Speaker 13: kids Tech Yeah, ad Mitchell, Yeah, worthy, absolutely, animals worthy, Yes,
- 1:19:05Speaker 13: span alive right now.
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: No, listen, there's there's gonna be some some talent out there,
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: and so hopefully some of these guys end up with
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: a decent offense and can make a jump on the
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: scene pretty early.
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: Here.
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: Anything else you want to.
- 1:19:17Speaker 11: Add, Chris, I mean it's up to You're good.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: We're good. Maybe we'll run through some some running backs
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: or some quarterbacks.
- 1:19:24Speaker 11: You know that sounds good?
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: All right, guys, as always, thank you for tuning the
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: PU halftime show. If you got the trivia, I think
- 1:19:29Speaker 5: we got some T shirts coming. I don't know. I
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: heard rumors that we might have a new news batch coming.
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: I'm supposed to leave that here, but anyways, send your
- 1:19:38Speaker 5: answers to the web radio Patriots dot com and let's
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: get back to the show. Costumes.
- 1:19:47Speaker 14: No replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof
- 1:19:51Speaker 14: of delivery, everyone could focus on the perfect opening night
- 1:19:54Speaker 14: FedEx where now meets next for residential delivery only.
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: And now great moments in history.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: If you say he's a friend of Eric, yes, isn't
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: that proper? Isn't a friend of Eric's redundant? If he
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: belongs to Eric, that's what the OV means. It's possessive,
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: So why.
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: Do we need involve Eric's That's a good one, Like
- 1:20:17Speaker 6: you don't you know.
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: It's friend Eric's friend would be proper. But if you
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: say he's a friend of Eric, that's also proper. Now, yes,
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: but a lot of people think he's a friend of Eric's, right,
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: I don't. I don't know that I'm right. I don't
- 1:20:30Speaker 4: know that I'm right about that one. So I'm not
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: being all friend of Eric. Right, That's how I don't.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: That's how I would write.
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: It, grammar, deep dive in yes, ap perillo English.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: I know it very specific. I know you just got
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: on a blog and just wrote on your own. Some
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: of us had to go to college and learn how
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: to do it.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: Perfect.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: Elitism not a very good one.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: But that's another great moment from all Right.
- 1:20:58Speaker 6: We're back from lunch here and I just want to
- 1:21:01Speaker 6: remind you guys, easy to drink, easy to enjoy, bud Light,
- 1:21:03Speaker 6: the official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots. And
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: we actually have the host, oh yeah, of the halftime
- 1:21:10Speaker 6: show here to read off a couple winners trivia.
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: All right, Question one, how many touchdown passes did tom
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: Brady throw to Chris Hogan.
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: I saw it so here. I don't want to answer.
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: You guys know, yeah, on the money, Paul.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: I did not see that.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: He does nothing but make fun of Chris Hogan having
- 1:21:30Speaker 6: the culke of invisibility. Somehow, he's very invested in all.
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: The winner was little Stevie? All right? Question two? What
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: was tom Brady's record against Peyton Manny?
- 1:21:40Speaker 15: Oh, nobody got this one, by the way, I don't know,
- 1:21:47Speaker 15: sixteen and eight, eleven and six, all right, terrible, it's
- 1:21:54Speaker 15: not a terrible bad Nobody got that one.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: So Question three? How many rushing touchdowns did Cam Newton
- 1:21:59Speaker 5: have for the Patriots?
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: Thirteen? Calm one year?
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: Yes, that was wrong, twelve twelve. When I was calling
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: in Seattle, you guys are close. I know you guys
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: are gonna win, but I'm sure you'll win something.
- 1:22:12Speaker 6: But do we still have T shirts? We gotta you
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: know we gotta do? Is we got to re up
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: the T shirts? Maybe go sweatshirts.
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: I singing hoodies. I don't know who is up to. Yeah,
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: it's time, you know? Is that?
- 1:22:22Speaker 11: Is that?
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: What's in with the kids these days? The crew neck
- 1:22:25Speaker 6: like the hood because my kids. I think like when
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: I was growing up, I had like two to three
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: hoodies like that, and they got more a lot. But
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: my kids that's every like they have twelve hoodies and
- 1:22:34Speaker 6: somehow I have to wash all of them every time.
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: If their hoodies. The questions are gonna get tougher, That's
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: that's for sure. People.
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: Yeah, you're gonna have to do a little more of
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: a deep die there.
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: Well are they questions that they can just go on
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: and google.
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: Some of them? One of them I just stopped the
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: top of my head.
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: So get do you have to do research for the answers?
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: Do you only pick stuff? You know?
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: I do some research.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: I'm going to guess you didn't know like eleven touchdowns
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: from Chris Hogan.
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: I figured that one out somehow, But yeah, I can't
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: believe you got that one though.
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: That was a complete total guess. Yeah, like ca Cam
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Newton wasn't a guess like I thought. I thought he
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: had thirteen, but the should have had thirteen. How you
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: fell Buffalo too fumbled? Yeah, well that one was like
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: the twenty yard I remember that, like the last play,
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: oh yeah in the Seattle game and he got tackled.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: Yeah, he didn't fall. He got to flip, blew it up,
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: flipped the last good game Jamal Adams played, Oh mag unbelievable, terrible.
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: But did they trade? What did the Seahawks trade for him?
- 1:23:31Speaker 5: They two one a lot and then he was injured
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: the whole time, got cut. They might sign and I think
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: he's gonna retire. Honestly, he's been beat up. Thanks back to.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: The emails though, and again sorry folks, the phones are
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: down here. On our three twenty eight National Holiday edition.
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: Of PU, he didn't flip the shirt.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: Oh I'll do that.
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: We gotta go, we gotta we gotta show both sides,
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: which you know cook story like. It initially was just
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: the front and the shirt and then somebody was like,
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: why don't you put the final scoreboard on the And
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, and then and thank you, Paul, appreciate that.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: There it is and final ot thirty four twenty eight.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: We should have that frame at your new studio, like
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: how they framed jerseys. But it's just a T shirt.
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: I know, well it's it's in the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: That's so yeah, it's a it's definitely pretty cool.
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: I'm just really surprised, like, how did you they come
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: up with one of those?
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: I think someone else had the idea and I just
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: stole it from them, Kevin from Dublin. They do that, right,
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: that's Fred's thing? Right? Is the pu accent off still
- 1:24:33Speaker 6: a thing? Are there any plans to have some fun
- 1:24:35Speaker 6: competitions in the dog days of May and June? Personally,
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: I love to see pp and the Deuce dueling it
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: out in a high stakes game of pictionary. Loser has
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: to sing directly in front of the camera an entire
- 1:24:45Speaker 6: song chosen by the winner. Please win, Mike, Well, I don't.
- 1:24:49Speaker 6: I don't ask me to sing. I will sing. I
- 1:24:50Speaker 6: will sing. I don't mind, but I'm not a good drawer, Paul,
- 1:24:53Speaker 6: I don't. I don't.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: What's the accent?
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: I heard about that?
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: They used to do something they probably should have been
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: know they would do like it's a maybe for the
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: clip of Fred going when I was a little girl,
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: and so it was, you know, it was uh vaguely
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: then I was a little girl, said.
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: People would write in phrases for Fred and Eric to
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: then read in a specific accent to the tenor of
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: the pronunciation of that's.
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: Bertie Sanders Yeah, Eric was good.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: Eric so was an impersonation off and it was an
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: accent off. The accent off probably would yeah you can't.
- 1:25:35Speaker 6: Really why as well? No no, no, no, no no, we're
- 1:25:38Speaker 6: we're excited to go of my best of abilities.
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: It's gronk pre pc pu to my best of my abilities.
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: It's Eric.
- 1:25:48Speaker 6: Eric had some teuses. We we missed, we miss him Eric.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: It was a good gronk the best of my abilities.
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: Here's one of from Alex. Does a else does anyone
- 1:26:01Speaker 6: else feel like Joe Milton gives off a Josh Allen
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: type five? Yes, I do. I know Allen was a
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: higher ranked prospect than Milton, but they both have elite
- 1:26:09Speaker 6: arm strength. Milton is bigger than some of the tight
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: ends in the league, running ability, with a similar frame,
- 1:26:13Speaker 6: but just more athletic than Josh Allen. I saw a
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: clip yesterday and Milton throwing his pro day launch and
- 1:26:18Speaker 6: the guy like in the camera was like, oh you're
- 1:26:20Speaker 6: at the gas when he's just like rifled it. I'd
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: like again, like to stick with my thing draft a
- 1:26:27Speaker 6: quarterback every year. I like him, and I like the
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: FSU kid Jordan Travis. I don't you know I don't
- 1:26:32Speaker 6: think like that. There's like, oh, they're going to be
- 1:26:34Speaker 6: the starter, but I just I think they've got some
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: you know, some things to work with, and it's always
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: good business just to keep these guys in the pipe.
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: I think it's it'd be interesting to see where Milton
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: would go and like the Kenny Pickett type year or something,
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: you know, like we have like you know, the top
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: four five prospects and he's kind of like that one
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: outside guy.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: So I'm a hard no on Joe Milton. He's done nothing,
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: which are two different schools.
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: But imagine I'm just throwing the ball over the what
- 1:26:59Speaker 6: is it now waste manage ment field house.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: He's gonna, you know, it's gonna happen anything because the
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: logo is win.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: You know. What's gonna happen is like mahomes Like, it's
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: gonna like sprain and ankle. And I'm not wishing not anything.
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: But he's gonna end up in like a perfect offense
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: drafted late and it's gonna like he's gonna turn some heads.
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: If you ever get some garbage time playing time.
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: Oh boy, Pronston says, going back to my question tuesdays,
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: you guys said you think we could get maybe a
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: sixth or a seventh for jujuh So if we were
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: to tarry for Higgins, if they were asking for a
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: third or something, do you think they would entertain trading
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: Juju and let's say a fifth for Higgins. Is that
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: something you could see happen or what do you guys think?
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: Not even in Madden No, I Like I thought I'd
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: explained that part of it too. I think if you include,
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: if you're including Juju in a trade, that lessens the value.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: And it's not a shot at Juju, it's the contract
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: his status right now, you know his health and whatever.
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: He's coming off a terrible year. He looks to be
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: damaged goods, and he makes a lot of money. So
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: if you're adding him sweetener, that's gonna cost you more.
- 1:28:03Speaker 6: I just I of all the guys that I'm just
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: so interested to kind of see, and not that I
- 1:28:07Speaker 6: have any illusion that he's gonna all of a sudden
- 1:28:11Speaker 6: get it, but I I think I came across one
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: of those, like an old comment of somebody was was
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: bashing me for saying that I thought Juju looked like
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: he's stunk in August, and like.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: Should I teach you how to keep receiving.
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: I didn't even forgot that I had, but like, you know,
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: I just like people don't realize, like we watched these practices,
- 1:28:31Speaker 6: like I'm sorry, Like when you look on the field
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: and a guy has no explosion, he's not catching any balls,
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: Like what do you want us to say? Like, and
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: that's what translated to the year. And I don't know,
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: there's maybe like a two percent little thing in the
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: back of my head of like, well, maybe he just
- 1:28:46Speaker 6: was never really healthy last year. He's had an opportunity
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: and maybe there's a little bit of something. But then
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: I look at that Pittsburgh game where he actually looked
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: like a competent NFL receiver for like fifty eight minutes
- 1:28:56Speaker 6: of the game, right and that, and so it's it's
- 1:28:59Speaker 6: my boggling. And then you look at all the depth
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: and it's it's hard to say he's better than kJ
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: Os Like you know that he would play over kJ
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: Osbourne or Pop or Kendrick Bourne when he's healthy. So
- 1:29:10Speaker 6: I don't know, he's just to me, this is a
- 1:29:13Speaker 6: throw it all at the wall kind of a nine
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: group of receiver at this point, and hopefully there's at
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: least one or two rookies at it to the mix
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: total that just kind of continue to push him down.
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: And I think we're of the same mind Paul of
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: like just cut him, like if he's not gonna play.
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: And I think that probably will happen at some point,
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: but I think they need to get Yeah, they need
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: to get some guys in the draft, or at least one.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: Eddie writes in Oh we likes Alex, Hey gang, would
- 1:29:42Speaker 6: it be possible to get another high second round pick
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: in the streets croc? If so, what would it cost? Maybe?
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: Can we say both the wide receiver and ot that
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: land early day two? Only saying because I've heard Evan
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: say there's a good starters going in day two for
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: both positions. Love y'all, especially miss Alex wink wink. It's
- 1:30:01Speaker 6: hard to do. I mean, I really, you know, I
- 1:30:03Speaker 6: like the trades, uh trading back up into the first
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: I think that in the early second though, you lose
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: kind of the really intriguing tackles. There might be one
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: or two at the top, but but there are I mean,
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: there are tackles that I like that are into the
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: third round that are intriguing. And I'm sorry wide receivers.
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: You know, tackles a little bit more developmental, and now.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: That's why I go tackle wide receiver.
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: Yeah, and you feel like they got it. They're saying
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: they're going to play on when you would right tackle.
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: So you know when you signed what with Chucks go
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: with that, thank you for.
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: If you traded, if you trade into the first how
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: back in, how high do you think you're going.
- 1:30:41Speaker 6: The one I was kind of looking at was Green Bay,
- 1:30:43Speaker 6: which I think they were like twenty fifth maybe something
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: like that, like a seventh option, and you're locking in
- 1:30:49Speaker 6: the fifth year option, and you know you could get
- 1:30:50Speaker 6: someone like like Tyler Geiton or you know, maybe Amarus Mims,
- 1:30:54Speaker 6: those types of guys that that I know, Kingsley Sua Mataya.
- 1:30:58Speaker 6: I think I'm saying that right. I know that's one
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: Evan's favorite guys. But yeah, I just I think by
- 1:31:03Speaker 6: the time you get to thirty four, you're kind of
- 1:31:05Speaker 6: left with what's left over at tackle. But for receiver,
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: it's I think you've got some options still, but it's
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: just hard to see how you get back up into
- 1:31:12Speaker 6: the into the second with a second second round pick.
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: We got awkward plant.
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: A second, but you know the trade down thing, and.
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: We talked about if you don't like the quarterbacks, then
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: you know it doesn't It's not not a dumb thing
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: to want to move down and see if you can
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: get extra picks. I've heard.
- 1:31:35Speaker 6: I've heard a lot of people say.
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: You know, you move down and you maybe at eleven
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: you can get another, you know, one of the other quarterbacks.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: You know, like if you move down and you got
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: JJ McCarthy at eleven, or you know, twenty three, you
- 1:31:49Speaker 4: take Michael Penny. Like, I don't really understand that logic,
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: and I don't know how you guys feel about it.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: If you're going to move down and still take a
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: quarterback with the first pick, why would the point Yeah,
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: take the better one. Why wouldn't you take the better
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: rated quarterback?
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: I totally agree, And that's why it's for me. It's
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: it's basically May and Daniels this year. Those I mean.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: People are trying to kill or I don't like that phrase.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: People are trying to feed two birds with one scone.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: That was a little nicer scone birds one scone.
- 1:32:18Speaker 5: One crumpet.
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: Yeah, you just want to damage to the don't want
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: to kill the birds.
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: To two dolphins with one harpoon talking.
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: About Yeah, that's pretty brutal to pretty hard, bro, that's dark.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: What was the team that got in trouble for posting.
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: Road That was the Chicago Chicago the Hockey Beat.
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Wild Hockey social teams were beefing with each a.
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: Wild Beat the coyotes and then they have.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Posted a picture of a dead coyote with.
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: A car driving away in the back.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: So I don't want peta on us like them anyways.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: It just people are trying to like make this like
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: I said, kill two birds with one stone and like
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: just go for quality.
- 1:33:04Speaker 6: This is good. Cody writes in I think he's he's
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: liking our lack of phones. He appreciates the slander on
- 1:33:10Speaker 6: the frequent callers. Would love for no call Thursdays to
- 1:33:12Speaker 6: be a thing. L It's like they're powerless to respond.
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: It's like poor ELDERD would have to like pull over
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: him write.
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: And Tuesday Tuesdays can be lit.
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: They're gonna call it no, We'll keep the phones down
- 1:33:25Speaker 6: till then. I'm just gonna jump into this one. I
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: don't know if it's good or not. Hey, family, quick question,
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: do you all feel that during the MAC Jones era,
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: we always had major holes to fill, and we never
- 1:33:36Speaker 6: really could use resources on surrounding him with talent in
- 1:33:39Speaker 6: the draft. And if we get a QB this year
- 1:33:41Speaker 6: and fill our few holes, we will be more inclined
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: to do that next year. Paul, you're you're big on
- 1:33:46Speaker 6: film the holes. What do you think.
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: Got a lot of hosts to film?
- 1:33:52Speaker 6: Can't fill them all at once?
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there was. You know, I think that
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: was one of the things that was a very accurate
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: criticism of Bill, like using almost defensive you know, Gonzales white,
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: MAPU one two three last year in the draft, when
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: you had such an obvious need for skill position guys
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: on offense. That's a very i think level headed second guess,
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: and in a lot of cases was a first guess.
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: They need to fill. They need to do a better
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: job of filling some of the holes. And I'd be
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: stunned if the first couple of picks, at least maybe
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: maybe the first three, if they're not offense, I go quarterback,
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: tackle a wide receiver.
- 1:34:37Speaker 6: But I think the left tackle one's clearing right now.
- 1:34:40Speaker 6: I mean, you just you don't really, I mean, I mean,
- 1:34:41Speaker 6: unless you're going to try to sell yourself on Calvin Anderson,
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: which maybe they are. But like when I, you know,
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: keep my little nerd depth chart, it's like I don't
- 1:34:49Speaker 6: have a number one left tackle in there. I mean,
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: just have a vacant vacant That's right. It's a message.
- 1:34:53Speaker 6: I'm sending a message to myself. Maybe, but I just
- 1:34:56Speaker 6: think that's a huge hole. Let's go. Uh, we're going
- 1:35:00Speaker 6: going off topic again, guys. It from Greg from Shrewsbury.
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: Very simple. What are your top three comedy movies? Comedy movies?
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: You got a lot of different ones.
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: I got, I got some no order. If I have
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: three Hangover, Hangover, airplane, American.
- 1:35:19Speaker 6: Pie, Okay, airplanes are going, I would.
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I like that's not that's a no order. That's
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: all three.
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: I would put Caddy Shack, you know, would be in
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: that conversation. Night Shift would be in the conversation.
- 1:35:33Speaker 5: Blazing Saddles also is in there.
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: There something about Mary something Mary. I was gonna say,
- 1:35:41Speaker 6: you know, I dumb and dummer. I just I watched
- 1:35:44Speaker 6: that five thousand times absolutely at the table. I just
- 1:35:48Speaker 6: I could probably go word for word on that movie.
- 1:35:50Speaker 6: Because when I should have been studying in college, I
- 1:35:52Speaker 6: was watching Dumb and Dummer step Brothers up there to
- 1:35:55Speaker 6: step Brothers. I'm with you that step Brothers to me,
- 1:35:59Speaker 6: Ghost Bush step Brothers.
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: There was a stretch with like step Brothers, Pineapple.
- 1:36:05Speaker 6: Express, Okay, Tropic Thunder, the scene where the director blows
- 1:36:14Speaker 6: up and then Ben Stiller picks up his head and
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: it's like it's movie prop, brilliant. I love that movie.
- 1:36:21Speaker 6: One like Little That you guys probably make fun of me.
- 1:36:22Speaker 6: But just one of my all time favorite movies is
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: Doctor Strangelove. I think that movie is hilarious and brilliant,
- 1:36:27Speaker 6: but I.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: Can't make fun of you. I don't know, I don't
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: I mean, I know the movie, but I see it,
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: so I can't make fun of you.
- 1:36:33Speaker 6: It's one of those that like you're like this, wait,
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: this is a comedy, and they're just brilliant. One of
- 1:36:37Speaker 6: my favorites. But thank you for the question, Greg.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: That's American Pie aged brilliantly.
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: I think I saw that like two or three times
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: in the theater because we would go with groups of
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: friends and everybody was just laughing.
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: It's great.
- 1:36:48Speaker 6: Into it.
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: I want to throw like an Eddie Murphy movie in two.
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: But I like.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: Beverly Hill, any of them, but they're so I just
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: remember cracking up as a kid.
- 1:36:59Speaker 6: I mean, what are like.
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: I watched Tommy Boy the other night. You know, is
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: everywhere save you?
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: Not a lot of good lately comedies though, I feel
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: like comedy is not really it's hard to be you
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: can't do it.
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: Yeah, like he said, like it's aged. Well, like my
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: guess is it hasn't. And then none of them hap
- 1:37:20Speaker 4: it's age.
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: Well if you don't care, right right.
- 1:37:22Speaker 6: But.
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: I don't know how. I don't know how you can
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: be a comedian in this day and age. I don't.
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: I really don't know how.
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: Airplane though I watched that probably too young. I yelled
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: that much cool?
- 1:37:34Speaker 6: I show that. I showed uh, Monty Python and the
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: Holy Grail to my my son when he was like ten,
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: and I was like this, hold up, and he and
- 1:37:40Speaker 6: actually it's kind of cool. He's in a he's in
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: a two D animation class right now and he had
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: to come. I was like, well, I have to come
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: up with like a couple options. We have to animate
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: a scene. And I was like, well, what are you thinking.
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: He's like, well, I'm gonna do the It's just a
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: flesh wound from Monty Python. I'm like, my guy, that's
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: so good like and then he was showing me some
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: of the art that he drew from it, and it
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: was I'm like, this.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: South Park movie so good.
- 1:38:08Speaker 6: Rhet writes in can we really afford to wait till
- 1:38:10Speaker 6: the third round or later to take a wide receiver
- 1:38:12Speaker 6: in the draft when we have one of the worst
- 1:38:14Speaker 6: wide receiver separation numbers last year? Yes, we might find
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: a wide receiver in the third round that's better than
- 1:38:18Speaker 6: our current wide receivers. But is that really saying much?
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: I don't think it will move the needle relative to
- 1:38:23Speaker 6: the other team's offensive firepower.
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: I mean, go ahead, but you can do that, and
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: I would, I would agree with you. You know that
- 1:38:31Speaker 4: if you wait to the third round, you're probably not
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: getting a guy that's you know, changing the game. But
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: you just changed the position and you're going to have
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: the same question no matter which one you put.
- 1:38:43Speaker 6: Off for the third yep.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: So like if you get Marvin Harrison and then you
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: decide to take a flyer on Bo Nicks or Joe
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: you know, like in later rounds now you don't have
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: a quarterback's what is that? And I don't care like
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: Jacoby Jacoby Brissette could play well, it's not the future,
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: and you could win some games. It's not making you
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: any better, it's not it's not really helping you. Like
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: you need to get a quarterback in order to start now.
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: If you don't want to do it right away, that's fine.
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: You can build pieces around your team and gradually get better.
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: But then you still have to figure out a way
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: to get that quarterback.
- 1:39:22Speaker 5: At some point. The interesting thing to me is the
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: second round pick, just like t Higgins right there, it's
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: the shiny toy, and I really, I really am if
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: they do it that way, I would love that. I'm
- 1:39:33Speaker 5: just I'm just curious to see where he goes, and
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: hopefully it's here. But I just I don't know. There's
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: always that one big try.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: I meant in the draft, like, I wouldn't be I
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: wouldn't be mad if they took a Mitchell or you know,
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: one of those guys you know in the the thirty
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: fourth pick instead of the tackle you know me, Yeah,
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: I can always plug in it someone Mitchell.
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: I like the two kids from Texas.
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: Yeah worthyes, the other one right, Like I think that
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: they have a better chance of getting a tackle with
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: the thirty fourth pick that can play right away. And
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: I don't think there's any chance of getting a tackle
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: in the third round that's going to be able to
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: play right away. But I don't I don't mind if
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: they say, well, you know, whoever that guy is is
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: so much better than the tackle we had to take them.
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: I think that makes sense.
- 1:40:15Speaker 6: Yeah, that's and that goes back to what we talked about.
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: I think last maybe two weeks ago, we talked to
- 1:40:21Speaker 6: don't I don't know where We'll just be specific, you know,
- 1:40:25Speaker 6: like you they don't have an outside receiver, and like
- 1:40:27Speaker 6: even if you drafted, you know, in the second round,
- 1:40:29Speaker 6: another one of these little guys who can't really play outside, Like,
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: I still feel like you've got a problem. So it's
- 1:40:35Speaker 6: really to me a question of if you are going
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: to wait to the third round, can you find a
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: potential developmental outside guy, somebody with some size that brings
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: a presence on the outside that's going to either with
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: their speed draw some some coverage or you know, with
- 1:40:49Speaker 6: their size, draw some contested catchability. Because I look at Osbourne,
- 1:40:53Speaker 6: I look at Pop, I look at even Juju to
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: you know, at his best and they're they're all kind
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: of inside receivers. So I don't know, I just I
- 1:41:02Speaker 6: don't believe at all that you have to wait on
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: the quarterback, what with the receiver the last piece of it.
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: I think that that you kind of have to wait,
- 1:41:08Speaker 6: especially when you have no left tackle, you know, really
- 1:41:11Speaker 6: even on the roster at this point. But being right along,
- 1:41:18Speaker 6: all right, let's let's jump into this one here from Michael. Greetings, everyone,
- 1:41:22Speaker 6: trying to call in for the last couple of shows
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: and to not be able to get on. Never had
- 1:41:25Speaker 6: that issue before. Yes, the phones are down, Michael, and
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: you've got a couple of thoughts today, but it's gonna
- 1:41:31Speaker 6: get better.
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: On Tuesday, we had stacked phone lines on Tuesday. That's
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: because Fred was here.
- 1:41:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and I and I brought the show down with
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: correct my boring call. Paul has made it a point
- 1:41:42Speaker 6: to tag too, says sneaky negative. Every once in a while,
- 1:41:44Speaker 6: I propose an update to sneaky negative and opportunistically dirty.
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: Oh yeah, his recent drive by working blue remarks under
- 1:41:52Speaker 6: his breath are hilarious, and the office like like that,
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: appreciate that. It's definitely one of my things that's highly active.
- 1:41:59Speaker 6: We're also like turny little Thing. Would also like to
- 1:42:01Speaker 6: submit a nominee for twenty twenty four Best Moment of
- 1:42:04Speaker 6: the podcast. Alex Alex is all out laugh after Fred's
- 1:42:08Speaker 6: comments on having Daniel Loss. He come out of a
- 1:42:10Speaker 6: cake for Evans was the sonic personification of joy and
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: made my week.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: We should see we should see if I was laughing
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: about that hours later at home.
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: We should see if he'll do a cameo for Evans.
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: Oh my god, Yes, who would be the what do
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: we make him?
- 1:42:28Speaker 6: Where?
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: Who would be the guy.
- 1:42:31Speaker 6: Who's the biggest I mean, well, the problem is.
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: Because he probably doesn't respect anybody break Well.
- 1:42:36Speaker 6: That's why I'm like, you probably want himself to pop
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: out of because he probably doesn't respect anybody else's.
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: Josh'll like Greg cameo.
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: You'd have Greg Coast, Oh, Josh, but you have like
- 1:42:47Speaker 6: Greg coaslop. I don't have a use for Scar.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: Scar star. Would you think?
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: So?
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: That's funny kind of a cake, but it might not
- 1:43:00Speaker 6: have Josh.
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: I mean yeah, I's like the cameo Mike McDaniel.
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: Mike McDaniel an offensive whiz kid.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: What do you like that?
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: I think you would and Mike McDaniel's just crazy enough
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: to do it.
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: Do you like that.
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: He's like vaping as he comes out of the cake,
- 1:43:18Speaker 6: My cake. We saw Mike McDaniel and in the nice
- 1:43:22Speaker 6: he cracks me up. As much as I want to
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: hate him because he's the Dolphins coach, I just I
- 1:43:26Speaker 6: think he's hilarious. Speed coming in again, keeping us off topic,
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: what's the deal with Generation Alpha? Those born roughly between
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: twenty ten and now. They've been described as feral and illiterate,
- 1:43:37Speaker 6: screen bound, and unsocialized. COVID was certainly a factor, but
- 1:43:40Speaker 6: the gentle parenting trend seems largely to blame. But where
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: does this go with speed?
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: With late gen X?
- 1:43:46Speaker 6: That's me yeah, but mainly millennials, the parenting pendulum has
- 1:43:49Speaker 6: swung toward permissiveness and a lack of boundaries, helping to
- 1:43:52Speaker 6: create a generation of tech enslave tantrum machines.
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: What came out in Joy touchgrass.
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: By what came out in twenty ten, the iPad, I think, I.
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: Mean it's OVID too.
- 1:44:04Speaker 6: It's crazy, like go to someone like you know Campbell.
- 1:44:07Speaker 6: Campbell is definitely a screen kid, but he's also super
- 1:44:09Speaker 6: active kid. And then like I'll go to some of
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: his baseball practice, basketball practices, and like other parents will
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: just have their kids sitting there bent over full volume,
- 1:44:19Speaker 6: just watching a show or like playing this game where
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: it just looks like absolute chaos the whole time for
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: hours straight.
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: It's it's it's like playing catch with Tyson Campbell's practices.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: This is a rabbit hole. I can't go down.
- 1:44:33Speaker 6: No, it's uh, we're.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: Over stimulating our kids these little iPad shows.
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: It's it's I mean, it's the YouTube's it's it's pretty scary.
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: And it's all geared individually to everybody.
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: So no one's talking about last on Tuesday. We're dumbing
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: down society.
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: Okay, starting there. I just kids can't read.
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: Kids can't read.
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: They're very education read.
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: They can't read, you're right about that, and they also
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: can't write, they can't speak.
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: I have to disagree with you.
- 1:45:02Speaker 7: The panonized kids are these kids that you're talking about,
- 1:45:04Speaker 7: and our kids are geniuses compared to some other kids.
- 1:45:07Speaker 7: To watch educational videos on the iPad, that's different.
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: But what I'm saying is everything is geared toward the
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: individual now, so you never have to be subjected to
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: something you're not interested in or you don't like, so
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: therefore you are shut off from anything that might be
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: different from your particular skills.
- 1:45:23Speaker 7: The kids aren't staring at Pepa Pig and SpongeBob for
- 1:45:25Speaker 7: hours get the best.
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: But also, Matt, your kids are still young.
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: They're five and seven.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, like we're I'm talking about them, We're talking about
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: the eighteen year olds, talking about.
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: Kids ten year old girls running around sep of Yeah.
- 1:45:39Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: I don't know what Speed is talking about, like talking
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: about what SPE's talking about.
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: It I just came out of nowhere.
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I was like, is the perfect with
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: that one? But I just think everything is geared to
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: the individual, Like when when I was growing up, Like
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: there were times where you weren't allowed to watch whatever
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: you wanted on television because your parents were watching television
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: and you didn't have nine televisions in the house or
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: screens that you could just go and find the thing
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: that you wanted to watch.
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: And if you missed the show, you missed the show.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: And sometimes you ended up watching things and you well,
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: I didn't know. I didn't think that would be something
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: I was interested in, but I kind of liked that.
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: I'm going to watch that now, you know, expanding or whatever,
- 1:46:17Speaker 4: and God forbid. So we had a conversation in the
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: lunch room yesterday and we were talking about I was
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: telling a story about you know, you know, like I
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: like to tell stories about you know, you know stories
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: we were going out when when I was like sixteen,
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: seventeen years old, and you know what my friends, you know,
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: like there'll always be one guy driving and you just
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: like you would make a phone call.
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: I'm like, okay, uh, you know we're.
- 1:46:41Speaker 4: Going to the palace at eight o'clock, Joey, You'll be bye.
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: So like settled, Yeah, that was it. And you you
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: called one guy and usually there was always one. It
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: started like there's always like a nucleus to a fan group,
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: I mean a friend group, there's always one person that's
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: sort of glue guy. Yeah. The glue guy was was
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: always Mark and he's the one who told you be ready,
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: be ready at eight right, And Anthony it was like,
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: you mean you had to make plants without a group
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: text and I was like yes.
- 1:47:12Speaker 6: And then everybody weighs in and has they're like, well
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: I can't go there. How about this?
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: No, I can't no, no, no, Like you either went and if
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: you couldn't go, you didn't go. But now it's like
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: they're my kids. They both have groups of friends that
- 1:47:24Speaker 4: are like twelve fifteen strong. If if at least ten
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: of them don't do it, they're out. It's like it's unbelievable.
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: Like I'm like, what if like two of you want
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: to like go to Tony C's, get something to eat,
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: maybe watch a movie. You can't do that. I don't
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: even want to use the words that they say to
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: describe that. If you do it, I think you could
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: figure that out.
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: Well, this concludes the serious portion of us get off
- 1:47:49Speaker 6: our screens. Serious Paul and the Colony Amen. Spinal tap, yes,
- 1:47:56Speaker 6: one thousand percent on my list, probably the top five.
- 1:47:58Speaker 6: I don't know how I didn't think a spinal tap,
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: but spinal tap all day as well as Bronson No
- 1:48:05Speaker 6: Adam Sandler movies Billy Madison.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Had Happy Gilmore came to me, but that was a miss.
- 1:48:11Speaker 6: I think, what would you what would you take first
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: in a Sandler movie draft, I'll just say the four,
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: but if there's another one, you think of Billy Madison,
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: Happy Gilmore, water Boy, Big Daddy, or mister Deets. I
- 1:48:21Speaker 6: go Billy Madison for myself.
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: There, I would go.
- 1:48:25Speaker 6: One and two.
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: I don't care what do you want to put him.
- 1:48:27Speaker 6: I liked I liked Big Daddy off the list and
- 1:48:30Speaker 6: Little Nikky on it.
- 1:48:31Speaker 4: Big Daddy would be three.
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: I hate for longest the art. I love the Longest.
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: That doesn't count, though, I'm saying I don't think I
- 1:48:37Speaker 6: saw it.
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: But Chris Rock is the funniest part of the movie.
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: It's not like a comedy.
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: Plus, it was someone else's movie.
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: You're talking O G.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: Well, I'm just saying like it was somebody else's. I mean,
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: I don't know about Billy Madison, Happy the Longest, Longest
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: it was Reynolds like that.
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: Was what was Big Daddy is at it? Yeah? Yeah, yeah?
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: That was pretty with a little kid. He was great.
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: Blonde is so cute.
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: The Twins.
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: That's back to Nickelodeon, right, weren't they? That Is that
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: a Disney show?
- 1:49:07Speaker 5: Is that?
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right, that's col and Dylan Sprout funny? Great
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: life Isza and Cody?
- 1:49:11Speaker 6: Wow?
- 1:49:11Speaker 4: Which one is that that Nickelodeon?
- 1:49:13Speaker 6: Didn't Drake and Josh funny? You say that, Paul, because
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: Anthony writes, in any chance any of you watched the
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: documentary about the Nickelodeon kids, Yeah.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: I did say that it's powerful, and that was a
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: typical deuce. Right, there's a good thing that wasn't draking.
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: I mean, don't be afraid to just gloss over something.
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: I don't know what happened. I didn't see. Really, I
- 1:49:33Speaker 6: don't even know what it was. I haven't seen it.
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: All I know is that Ricky from Better Off Dead
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: was was the problem. So that's that's bizarre. O. Who's
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: Ricky from Better Off Dead? He's like the fat guy
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: with the glasses. It's Dan Schneider.
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: He was from head of the class, right. Yeah, so
- 1:49:47Speaker 4: I'm going to tell you this from watching and I
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: haven't seen it all, and you guys might feel differently.
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: No one watched it, watch it all and clips, so
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: I would say Dan Schneider is obviously a problem. He
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: was in highly inappropriate. The other guy, the dialogue coach
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: that molested Drake Bell, Oh geez, that's the guy thought
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: like there's a special place in hell for that guy
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: Like that was far more damaging. I think Schneider was,
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: I think And there was a quote in one of
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: the document in one of the episodes that said it
- 1:50:23Speaker 4: like he just kind of like suffered from arrested development,
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: Like he was clearly not that kid in school growing up,
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: and then he got all this power and he had
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: all these you know, cute twelve year old girls that
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: owed everything to him, and he sort of preyed on that,
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: but not physically inappropriately. I would say, horrible, horrible, like
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: the stuff that he did to Ariana Grande, horrible horrible stuff,
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: but nothing by comparison to the to the other guy,
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: Brian Peck I think his name was. He went to jail,
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: as you know, for what he did to Geez Drake.
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: It was heavy and it's it's worth watching. You guys
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: should see it. I watch It's worth WHI And there's
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: another one. I think it's on Max. Yeah, and that's on.
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: There's a fifth episode coming out like next week.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: I thinks one.
- 1:51:15Speaker 6: David May makes me crack up with why don't you
- 1:51:17Speaker 6: guys hang up that map that's sitting on the floor
- 1:51:19Speaker 6: next to Paul. It's been sitting there for god knows
- 1:51:21Speaker 6: how long. Just hang it up.
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: So the reason that the map is there is because
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: we used to put a pin in every country that
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: we got a listener from, and I think we've sort
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: of exhausted that. I don't think we get anything.
- 1:51:37Speaker 6: I think it'll be centerpiece of the new studio. They're
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: planning on making a digital map, and I just think
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: it's like a giant thing that no one knows what
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: to do with. Now.
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: I'm not really in favor of the improvements, but what
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: are we gonna do that would be nice?
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: Just one more Paul. I didn't see this, but Nick
- 1:51:52Speaker 6: from Connecticut says, I'm curious if any of you saw
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: Paul's Twitter fight was Seth Davis. I found myself on
- 1:51:58Speaker 6: the couch cracking up as people accused Paul of being
- 1:52:01Speaker 6: a homer and biased. However, they crossed the line when
- 1:52:05Speaker 6: they accused him of openly rooting for the team as
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: a Perilo disciple. I jumped in with proof of Paul
- 1:52:10Speaker 6: not being a homer and defended Paul's honor. I was
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: just hoping some of you got the same enjoyment out
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: of that interaction.
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: So I'll give you a little peek behind the curtain.
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: Seth Davis gets under my skin like I don't think
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: anybody else does. On Twitter. I love College basketball. I
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: love the tournament. And this is a guy who's the
- 1:52:26Speaker 4: lead analyst for CBS who is just openly rooting for Purdue.
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: And I don't care Prdue wins loses that. I don't
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: have a dog in the fight. My team stinks. Northeastern
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: is terrible. They finished twelve and twenty, So I don't
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: care who wins the national title. I'm not rooting against anybody.
- 1:52:43Speaker 6: Want have a good time, okay.
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: I don't understand why it's suddenly an okay, back to
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: like what we talked about on Tuesday with like these
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: media hats, Like he's telling people on Twitter, Zach Edy
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: is the greatest and if you don't like Zach Edy,
- 1:52:58Speaker 4: you're doing it wrong. And I'm rooting, and so I
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: just said, like when when did it become okay to
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: just openly root for a team, and he goes, I'm
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: rooting for Purdue. Get over it. That was our Twitter fight,
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: and then people were saying, like that the team I
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: actually said, he goes, I actually worked for a team,
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: and I'm not I'm not allowed to openly root for
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: the Patriots. And then people are like, come on, you
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: don't root for the Patriots. There's noting like not in
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: the press box, not on the air like Seth Davis is,
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: and then like I didn't go back and forth with
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: these because that was that was it, you know, Like,
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: but I was very happy I got him to respond,
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: I got him to take the cheese. I can't stand him.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: I think he is everything that is wrong with journalism today.
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: It's just rich kid entitlement, my way or highway, like nothing,
- 1:53:53Speaker 4: nothing original, nothing original about that guy at all. And
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: I was very proud of myself for putting a casting
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: my line and having him got it. I got a nibble, he.
- 1:54:04Speaker 6: Reeled him in this one. Matt Morel take note of
- 1:54:06Speaker 6: this one because I do think this is a good
- 1:54:08Speaker 6: idea from Andrew. Can someone please get a hold of
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: the clip or audio sample of Evan's live reaction to
- 1:54:14Speaker 6: the cold, Strange draft pick if you guys haven't heard,
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: it's it's hilarious. There was just something magical and deeply
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: amusing about the momentary lapse in ability to contain the
- 1:54:24Speaker 6: frustration and despair despite his usual calm and optimistic nature,
- 1:54:27Speaker 6: knowing in his heart how bad Bill b had messed up,
- 1:54:30Speaker 6: then snapping back to reality of being on air and
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: having to professional.
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: It exists on YouTube that obtails perfectly to what I'm
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: just talking about. Like, you have an air of professionalism
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: that you need to try at least try to maintain.
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: Not Seth Davis though, you're doing it wrong. If you
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: don't like who I like, you're doing it wrong.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: You don't know hoops.
- 1:54:52Speaker 6: Doc McCloud's on fire today. He sent in not only
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: a really funny meme of me watching Super Bowl fifty one,
- 1:54:58Speaker 6: but also a nice uh he got he had the
- 1:55:01Speaker 6: perfect cake for Evan. He's got Kyle Shanahan popping out.
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: How do we not think of Kyle Shanahan?
- 1:55:05Speaker 5: Righty?
- 1:55:06Speaker 6: We love the Shanahan off.
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: That rock party is he?
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: Let me see he's rock perty would be funny?
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: All right? Let's uh, well we're not quite down, but
- 1:55:14Speaker 6: let's I want to do want to wrap up with
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: this one. This is a good boy.
- 1:55:17Speaker 11: Don't don't do it to me.
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: I don't know what to say.
- 1:55:22Speaker 10: The Patriots have drafted offensive lineman Cole Strange from Chattanooga
- 1:55:29Speaker 10: with the twenty ninth pick in the draft. In my
- 1:55:35Speaker 10: mind is a fourth round pick that the Patriots are
- 1:55:40Speaker 10: taking here with the twenty ninth pick I am trying
- 1:55:43Speaker 10: to be as professional as I possibly can with his
- 1:55:46Speaker 10: analysis and not lose my head. He is very experienced.
- 1:55:54Speaker 10: I can read my notes on him. I had him
- 1:55:56Speaker 10: as my eighth rated interior offensive lineman in the draft.
- 1:56:00Speaker 10: Forty four career starts, hyper aware and pass protection. Good
- 1:56:03Speaker 10: feel for the position, hand straight outside handstrikes, makes it
- 1:56:07Speaker 10: difficult to the corner on him. Has play speed to
- 1:56:10Speaker 10: work laterally and up to the second level.
- 1:56:13Speaker 6: Feeds the stand and run through the blocks.
- 1:56:14Speaker 10: Good double team technique, polished all around, loves looking for work.
- 1:56:20Speaker 10: They drafted a starting guard in the first round that,
- 1:56:23Speaker 10: in my mind, is a third or fourth round guy.
- 1:56:26Speaker 10: And this is a definition, in my opinion, of getting
- 1:56:30Speaker 10: too cute with it.
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: Like there's just no other way to put it.
- 1:56:33Speaker 10: This Bill Belichick, for all of the smoke that he
- 1:56:37Speaker 10: blows up our and you know what about how need
- 1:56:41Speaker 10: doesn't matter and you don't draft based off of need,
- 1:56:44Speaker 10: you draft based off of talent, and you draft off
- 1:56:47Speaker 10: of base off best player available. I don't ever want
- 1:56:51Speaker 10: to hear Bill Belichick say that to us ever again.
- 1:56:56Speaker 6: Then hold back who is with him there?
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: It's not like he was in the bottom of a
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: well No, it.
- 1:57:00Speaker 6: Might have been on Zannis. Yeah, John Zannis from from
- 1:57:04Speaker 6: ceiling us, so he was at the bottom. Well there
- 1:57:07Speaker 6: you go, all right, now now he can do one
- 1:57:11Speaker 6: one last football questioning, which I like, that's funny. I like,
- 1:57:16Speaker 6: n do you guys believe with Thornton bulking up in
- 1:57:19Speaker 6: the focus of a developing coaching style, he can stretch
- 1:57:21Speaker 6: the field and be an X. It's funny because I
- 1:57:24Speaker 6: didn't even like mention Thornton when I was kind of
- 1:57:26Speaker 6: running down my wide receivers and no, I mean that's
- 1:57:28Speaker 6: the question we brought up a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:57:31Speaker 5: He gets he gets bulked up every year, buke up
- 1:57:34Speaker 5: last year.
- 1:57:34Speaker 6: I don't believe it. I just think he always he
- 1:57:36Speaker 6: always takes a picture right after he's got the pump.
- 1:57:39Speaker 5: Ben Simmons, he's got.
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: The t J when he's done at the gym, and
- 1:57:43Speaker 4: he goes over to the mirror and he gets THEE.
- 1:57:47Speaker 6: The flex down, he like shakes out the quad and
- 1:57:49Speaker 6: then you know.
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: Then he gets he tries to step on me, he
- 1:57:54Speaker 4: gets in my face, get on my face. A little boy.
- 1:57:59Speaker 4: I don't call him, oh boy.
- 1:58:01Speaker 6: Well it's been a fun one, guys. We did dabble
- 1:58:04Speaker 6: a little bit football, but we touched on a lot
- 1:58:05Speaker 6: of extracurricular topics, which I think was fun. We got
- 1:58:08Speaker 6: a little bit out of the usual.
- 1:58:10Speaker 4: Yet I appreciate the effort. Everybody, thank you, because I
- 1:58:13Speaker 4: was in a bad place with a third overall pick.
- 1:58:16Speaker 6: So we uh. You know, we got Easter this weekend,
