Latest / Bible Chat Devotional / January 10 - Stay Solid When Life Shakes
Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in scripture and relevant for today, January 10th.
- 0:11Stay solid when life shakes. Have you ever built something
- 0:14you were proud of, only to watch it fall apart when pressure hit?
- 0:18Maybe it was a plan that didn't work out, a relationship that
- 0:21didn't last, or confidence that crumbled the moment things got
- 0:24hard. Life has a way of shaking what
- 0:26we build, and when it does, it quickly reveals whether our
- 0:29foundation was solid or just convenient.
- 0:32Jesus paints A vivid picture in Matthew Chapter 7.
- 0:36He talks about two people who both hear his words.
- 0:39On the outside. They look the same, but there's
- 0:41one key difference. One actually lives out what
- 0:44Jesus says and the other doesn't.
- 0:47Jesus says the one who hears his words and does not do them is
- 0:50like a man who built his house on sand.
- 0:53When the storms came, and they did, the house collapsed.
- 0:56It wasn't the storm that caused the failure, it was the
- 0:59foundation. Proverbs chapter 3 verses 25 to
- 1:0326 speak straight into our fear when life feels unstable.
- 1:07Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the
- 1:09wicked when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and
- 1:13will keep your foot from being caught.
- 1:15Notice what God doesn't say. He doesn't say trouble won't
- 1:18come. He says you don't have to be
- 1:20afraid when it does. Why?
- 1:22Because the Lord himself is your confidence, not your
- 1:24circumstances, not your emotions, not how strong you
- 1:27feel that day. God is the one keeping you
- 1:30steady. Storms will come, pressure will
- 1:33rise, unexpected news will hit. Fear will try to get loud.
- 1:37But when your life is anchored in Jesus, when his words shape
- 1:40your choices, your reactions, your habits and your values, you
- 1:43don't fall apart. When things shake, you may bend,
- 1:46you may feel the wind, but you stand.
- 1:49Staying solid isn't about pretending everything is fine.
- 1:52It's about trusting the one who holds you when everything isn't.
- 1:56It's about choosing obedience over convenience, truth over
- 1:59feelings, and faith over fear. Especially when it's hard.
- 2:02When Jesus is your foundation, chaos doesn't get the final
- 2:05word. Let's pray.
- 2:07Heavenly Father, thank you for being the solid foundation my
- 2:10life can stand on. Teach me not just to hear your
- 2:13words, but to live them out daily when fear rises and life
- 2:17feels unstable. Help me trust you as my
- 2:19confidence and my security. Strengthen my faith so I can
- 2:23stand firm no matter what shakes around me.
- 2:26In Jesus name, Amen. What if the ache you feel for
- 2:30more is actually God calling you deeper?

- 3:50Proverbs chapter 3 verses 21 to 26 World English Bible.
- 3:55My son, let them not depart from your eyes.
- 3:58Keep sound wisdom and discretion, so they will be life
- 4:01to your soul and grace for your neck.
- 4:03Then you shall walk in your way securely.
- 4:05Your foot won't stumble when you lie down.
- 4:07You will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down and your
- 4:10sleep will be sweet. Don't be afraid of sudden fear.
- 4:13Neither of the desolation of the wicked when it comes for Yahweh
- 4:17will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken.
- 4:20Matthew Chapter 7 World English Bible Don't judge so that you
- 4:25won't be judged. For with whatever judgement you
- 4:27judge, you will be judged, and with whatever measure you
- 4:30measure, it will be measured to you.
- 4:32Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't
- 4:35consider the beam that is in your own eye?
- 4:38Or how will you tell your brother, Let me remove the speck
- 4:40from your eye and behold the beam is in your own eye.
- 4:44You hypocrite. First remove the beam out of
- 4:46your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck
- 4:49out of your brother's eye. Don't give that which is holy to
- 4:52the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest
- 4:55perhaps they trample them under their feet and turn and tear you
- 4:58to pieces. Ask and it will be given.
- 5:01You seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be open for
- 5:05you. For everyone who asks, receives.
- 5:07He who seeks finds to him who knocks it will be opened.
- 5:11Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread,
- 5:14will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, who
- 5:17will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know
- 5:21how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will
- 5:23your Father, who is in heaven give good things to those who
- 5:26ask him? Therefore, whatever you desire
- 5:29for men to do to you, you shall also do to them.
- 5:32For this is the law. And the prophets.
- 5:34Enter in by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide, and the
- 5:37way is broad. That leads to destruction, and
- 5:40there are many who enter in by it.
- 5:42How narrow is the gate? And the way is restricted that
- 5:44leads to life. There are few who find it.
- 5:47Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing
- 5:50but inwardly are ravening wolves.
- 5:52By their fruits you will know them.
- 5:54Do you gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?
- 5:58Even so, every good tree produces good fruit, but the
- 6:01corrupt tree produces evil fruit.
- 6:03A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt
- 6:06tree produce good fruit. Every tree that doesn't grow
- 6:09good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
- 6:12Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
- 6:15Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the
- 6:19Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who
- 6:22is in heaven. Many will tell me in that day,
- 6:24Lord, Lord, didn't we prophecy in your name, in your name cast
- 6:28out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?
- 6:31Then I will tell them, I never knew you.
- 6:33Depart from me You who work iniquity.
- 6:36Everyone, therefore who hears these words of mine and does
- 6:39them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the
- 6:42rock. The rain came down, the floods
- 6:45came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it
- 6:48didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock.
- 6:50Everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't do them will
- 6:53be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
- 6:57The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and
- 7:00beat on that house and it fell and it's fall was great.
- 7:04When Jesus had finished saying these things, the multitudes
- 7:07were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them with
- 7:10authority and not like the scribes.
