Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Uh I have to because everybody has a different reason for why they feel connected to Dolly.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: There's everybody has their own thing.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: For you, it could be music, it could be the movie, it could it could be books.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Maybe in some way you were benefited from charities that she uh, you know, gave to I don't I don't know for everyone, or maybe it was just her kind heart, her smile, and the honesty, and uh and just she was a very real person.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: For Allie, it's her look.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: That's the number one thing.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: How did she get her look?
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Do you want to know?
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: How?
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Well, Dolly will tell you in the throwback interview.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: The most beautiful girl, woman I had ever seen in my life lived.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: We didn't go to town that much, but when I would, I would go to see her because she had these long red fingernails, she wore bright lipstick, she had peroxide blonde hair, wore tight clothes, short, and I thought she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And my mother said, Oh, she's just trash, she's just a tramp.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And I thought that's what I want to be when I love it.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: It was she greater once.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Let me tell you how great she is in this one business transaction that she did.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: And this is why her light shines so bright.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: Do you know how she actually got her start?
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: Or one of the one of the key factors I should say to getting her start.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Because there's been so much information thrown at us in the past, you know, let's say 17 hours.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I remember this part.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: She was on a show with a guy named Porter Wagner.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: And it he brought her on the show.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: And it it catapulted her career essentially.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: So her and Porter, they had a good business relationship for a while, performed together, all this good stuff.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: Well, then they had a major, major falling out.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: But then Porter he kind of fell out of grace in the limelight, and he had no money.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: He was going bankrupt.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: He had literally nothing.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: He was one of those celebrities that just pretty much fell on the hardest of times.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: So what did Porter do?
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: He needed to sell his music catalog.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: So Dolly purchased his music catalog for how many dollars it was so he could have the money, sold it back to Porter for a dollar.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: Oh wow.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: So he could keep his art, but at the same time provide him with some money to live.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: I want to say I saw something very briefly in passing yesterday, too, that you know, she had even and this is tough.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Like you said, they they did not it's hard to believe Dolly not getting along with somebody.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: But obviously, whatever had happened that we may not be a hundred percent privy to, there was the falling out.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Falling outs happen.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Think about personal relationships, think about family, think about and it would be hard, I think, for the average person if you found out that person, let's say it had stayed icy.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: We'll we'll we'll call it icy.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, it wasn't the nice warm, you know.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Uh I doubt that a lot of people would stand up and go, you know, to like a funeral or you know, pay respects and that.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: And and I saw in one clip on the news yesterday, she did that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: She actually went past all of that and went and uh and and paid you know tribute to that, which is another great respect for her roots with that.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what another thing that I think people tend to just fall towards her because and not even just gravitate, I mean fall towards her because she is so kind.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and that is something that we don't have a lot of in this world.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Well, and especially with everything going on around us, and the world's in a a level of turmoil right now on so many different levels, which we'll talk about in the next few minutes in the big three.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, that it's one of those things where you know people, you know, people really right now.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: I think it's more of it's sad, but it should be more of a celebration to what she was.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I feel like kindness never goes out of style, and that's something that she exudes all the time or did.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: I have to I'm on the fence on reading Natalie's text word for word, but it's Dolly's words.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: So if I read this word for word, you have to realize this is Dolly's words.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: In no way, shape, or form am I trying to be abrasive or anything like that.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: This is it.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: So Natalie had text.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: We've known Natalie's a friend of the show, we've known her well.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: And I remember I told you I said one of the things I wish I always was able to do was meet Dolly.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know what I would have said to her.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: But I just would have liked to have been in her presence.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: I would have loved to have met her and just been like, hi.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Get her energy.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Yes, exactly.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Her friend met Dolly, told her friend, Oh God, this is hard for me to say because it's it's right out there.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: I'll say it real quick.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Dolly told her friend, us big titted women have to stick together.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: That's amazing, that is the most Dolly thing I think.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: So, Dolly, in a second, tell me about this lady.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: That was it a lady crossing the street that also was a man.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: It was a guy.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, God, I ain't gonna hear it next.
