- 0:00So I just went to the dentist and the dentist
- 0:02is always such a such a thing because everyone
- 0:05wears masks which is great but I can never ever
- 0:08hear what they're saying. But anyways the hygienist
- 0:10is done, the dentist comes in, and he's yapping
- 0:13and he won't stop yapping. Don't understand most
- 0:16of what he's saying but then the bits and pieces
- 0:18I hear is that the hygienist wants to become
- 0:20a personal chef for like a luxury dining company.
- 0:25Or like a celebrity. Nothing better than when
- 0:28someone's doing their job and telling you about
- 0:30the job they wish they were doing instead. I
- 0:32was like, okay. And then my dentist, who's an
- 0:34old man, says, I have a funny story for you.
- 0:37And then he goes, my brother's brother -in -law
- 0:41something or other. He was a private chef for
- 0:44Jeffrey Epstein. And I went, oh. Oh. Okay. Yeah,
- 0:48that was it. What are we supposed to do with
- 0:50that information? I don't know. I guess blast
- 0:52it out to the people. He was like I always ask
- 0:55him what happened and he won't tell me. Gee I
- 0:57wonder why. Yeah. Oh my god. Okay damn. Yeah I was
- 1:02just like I feel like I need a new dentist. I
- 1:05think I need, I think I need a female dentist.
- 1:07Anyway should we get to the show? Yeah let's do
- 1:10it. Season one, episode 14. Les Soeurs D'Estrees. I'm going to be honest.
- 1:29I looked at the title and I went, that's none
- 1:31of my business. It's French. I've looked up the
- 1:34translation. I think that's how you say it. Did
- 1:36you look up the painting? Yes. Did you? It's
- 1:38a famous homoerotic painting. Oh, is it the boob
- 1:43one? Yeah. The nipple one? That's the one. That's
- 1:46kind of cunt. What do you think this has to do
- 1:48with the episode? That's my issue. So. The painting,
- 1:52the subject are two sisters. Okay. Sisters. No.
- 1:56The painting portrays two sisters. They're in
- 1:59the bath. They're nude from the top down. As you
- 2:02would be in the bath. As you would be in the
- 2:04bath. And one of the sisters is pinching the
- 2:06other sister's nipple. I don't know what it has
- 2:09to do with the episode except the fact that the
- 2:11show is about two sisters. But no one was...
- 2:13They did not want us looking up these paintings.
- 2:16No one was nippling. No. A and I like to use the
- 2:20adverb nipply. So this is a very nipply painting,
- 2:24but not a very nipply episode. Correct. Yeah.
- 2:27It's not very nipple forward. Yeah. So I don't
- 2:30know what that's about. Okay. Let's start the
- 2:32episode. It opens with this table scene where
- 2:35Daphne and Emma are studying together. I think
- 2:37about this scene all the time. Really? Yeah.
- 2:40So they're studying and then they're joking around
- 2:41and then they start kissing. Yes. And it's like
- 2:45beautiful, it's like bathed in this golden light
- 2:48like it's such a warm beautiful scene and then
- 2:50cut to, it's a fantasy that Daphne is having at
- 2:54the table while she helps Emmett study for trig.
- 2:56Yeah. Oops. Oops. Melody comes home and she says
- 3:01by the way Emmett your fine for the vandalism
- 3:04is due next week it's five thousand dollars and
- 3:06I don't have it, so you gotta cough up that money.
- 3:09How long has it been? Right. I was like, why
- 3:11did you guys wait until the week before to talk
- 3:14about this? $5,000 is a lot of money to save
- 3:17up. Maybe it's just due really fast? Maybe, but
- 3:20Emmett says, well, dad can help me. She says,
- 3:23no, honey, that's your problem. I'm on Melody's
- 3:26side here because why is Emmett assuming she's
- 3:29going to pay it? Yeah, that's true. Obviously,
- 3:31if she could pay it, it would make more sense
- 3:33for her to pay it and be like, and now you owe
- 3:35me in installments or whatever. Well, first of
- 3:37all, Emmett's like, That's fine. Dad will pay
- 3:40for it. And Melody's like, no, this is a you
- 3:42problem. This is your responsibility. And she
- 3:45suggests that he sell his motorcycle. And he's
- 3:48very upset about this. He loves his motorcycle.
- 3:50Very upset. But one thing is, the damages from
- 3:53doing that on a billboard, those damages are
- 3:55not $5,000. No. And another thing, I did some
- 3:59Googling, and apparently a fine of $5,000 or
- 4:02more is considered a felony. Jeez. Okay. The
- 4:05writers didn't Google that. The writers did not
- 4:07do any. They were like looking at law. What he
- 4:11did is not a felony. Also, this is a first time
- 4:13offense and he's a minor. So the thing that I
- 4:15just imagined happens is that they're like, we're
- 4:19going to press charges. And they probably, as
- 4:22is what happens most of the time with the court
- 4:24system, they're like, we can take this to court.
- 4:27Yes. Or we take a settlement. Yeah. Yeah for this
- 4:31much he took a plea bargain. I imagine he took
- 4:33a plea bargain and because of that the plea bargain
- 4:35fucking sucks. Yeah but the plea bargain is such
- 4:38a high fine. Yeah. Which is not realistic. No. But
- 4:43they never again they never explicitly say. No
- 4:45it happened off screen and honestly I think that
- 4:48We are thinking about this so much more. The
- 4:50writers were probably like, let's make Emmett
- 4:52lose his motorcycle. How can we do that? But
- 4:54I just thought it was funny that Melody is like
- 4:57so stoked to see Daphne. Emmett's like, sorry,
- 5:00she's leaving. Melody's like, I didn't say you
- 5:03couldn't have friends over. And he's like, yes,
- 5:05you explicitly did. And she goes, but Daphne's
- 5:08family. Yeah. Stay. So then Daphne stays for
- 5:12the whole fight. Yeah. And then she goes back
- 5:15to the house and Bay comes to Daphne to ask for
- 5:18Emmett help again. I feel like she's got to stop
- 5:20doing this. It's minor, but her being like, is
- 5:23there any way to get Emmett online when he's
- 5:24off? And Daphne's like, no girl. Yeah. He's in
- 5:27trouble. Sorry. And Daphne explains that Emmett's
- 5:30going to have to sell his motorcycle. But he
- 5:32loves his motorcycle. The motorcycle is named
- 5:35Ripley after the Sigourney Weaver role in the
- 5:38movie Aliens, which apparently is his favorite
- 5:40movie. Yeah, which none of this Bay knows. Which
- 5:43none of this Bay knows. First of all, question.
- 5:45Yeah. She says Aliens, plural, not Alien, which
- 5:50is the first movie. Good catch. Alien is the
- 5:53first movie with Sigourney Weaver. There is a
- 5:55sequel named Aliens, plural. So maybe his favorite
- 5:59is the sequel. Anyway, Bay does not know any
- 6:01of that. No. And also, Daphne explains that Emmett's
- 6:05dad gave him the motorcycle when he was 13, which
- 6:08I also think is crazy. Well, he bought it for
- 6:11him when they were 13. And then they fixed it
- 6:12up for three years, which I think. So I completely
- 6:15get why it's so sentimental to him. I also feel
- 6:17like at this point, I know it's, I know the problem
- 6:20is that they just haven't literally haven't cast
- 6:22Emmett's dad yet. But the fact that we discovered
- 6:25that this is such a sentimental thing for Emmett
- 6:27and then his dad is not involved in this episode
- 6:30at all. It makes me sad for Emmett. I know. Like
- 6:33his absentee father. But Daphne's like, I have
- 6:36an idea. I'm going to do a bake sale. Yeah, they're
- 6:38having this conversation while Daphne is holding
- 6:40the KitchenAid mixer because she's already like,
- 6:43I'm doing a bake sale. Yeah, it's a really cute
- 6:46mixer. It's a cute yellow KitchenAid mixer. I
- 6:48was really jealous. I want a KitchenAid so bad.
- 6:51They're so heavy. I know. And like, I would have
- 6:53no space for it. I have a Hamilton Beach hand
- 6:56mixer that suits me well. I just always, my mom
- 6:59has hers from like when she got married. Well,
- 7:01I always had that in the house growing up and
- 7:03quite literally did not think about the fact
- 7:05that would not be accessible to me as an adult.
- 7:07So every time I bake anything, I'm like, God
- 7:09damn it. This is way harder. Back to this bake
- 7:12sale situation. Five dollars. Thank you. I was
- 7:15like, that's so expensive for 2012. That's so
- 7:17expensive. Even today for the little cupcakes
- 7:20she makes. To sell at a school? Usually it's
- 7:24like two dollars each. Yeah. Maybe. Even today,
- 7:27if they were like four, I'd be like, okay. But
- 7:29five? Five is pushing it. Five is mean. It's
- 7:32really pushing it. I guess because she sells
- 7:34them at Buckner later on, she's like, these people
- 7:37can afford it. These people don't know the cost
- 7:39of a cupcake. How much could a banana cost? $10?
- 7:42Did you see the one recently where Kim Kardashian
- 7:45was like, I would really like to know the cost
- 7:47of a carton of milk. That would be a good thing
- 7:49for me to know, I think. So fucking embarrassing.
- 7:53I love that. And then Bay also in the scene drops
- 7:56that Emmett did do the vandalism for her birthday,
- 7:59which Daphne didn't know. It pisses me off the
- 8:02way she says it too. She's like, it was a birthday
- 8:05present. And she's like tucking her hair behind
- 8:07her ear, literally. She's being so like faux
- 8:10embarrassed bashful about it but she's foaming
- 8:13at the mouth ready to tell Daphne that like this
- 8:15was a romantic gesture for her and I love how
- 8:18Daphne's like I thought you got a scarf, like
- 8:20bitch. And yeah, so that doesn't go down well.
- 8:23And then Bay is also like, just so you know,
- 8:25guys really don't like it when you try to give
- 8:28them money for their vehicles. And shouts out
- 8:30Ty. Yeah, shout out. Haven't heard of in a while.
- 8:34And Daphne's like, that was a you problem. Like,
- 8:36it would be fine. And I believe her. Like, I
- 8:38think if she'd been able to raise the money,
- 8:40Emmett would have been totally fine with it. He
- 8:42would have said thank you. And then the Kennishes,
- 8:44they're interviewing lawyers, but just two. Just
- 8:47two. The first one is like a sports contract
- 8:49guy. Whatever. I feel like John would know more
- 8:52lawyers than this. So would I. Wouldn't John
- 8:55have like a roster of lawyers that he's worked
- 8:58with? Yeah, why would he go for the sports contract
- 9:00guy for a hospital lawsuit? So it's one old guy
- 9:04and then one hot, young, new lawyer who's like
- 9:08fresh. Craig Tebbe, fresh out of law school.
- 9:11He looks 24. Did you recognize this actor? Yes,
- 9:14this is Samuel Page, who was in Mad Men. He was
- 9:17in Desperate Housewives. Thank you. He was in
- 9:19Mad Men, Desperate Housewives, and he was also
- 9:21in one episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Okay,
- 9:23is he evil in Desperate Housewives? Because he
- 9:26sucks in Mad Men. He is not nice. He plays the
- 9:29stepson of Bree Hodges. Yes, okay. Yeah, that's
- 9:33right. Because he sucks on Mad Men, too. I don't
- 9:35know if you've gotten to that season yet. I am.
- 9:37Did you give up? I am on Dance Moms and Heated
- 9:40Rivalry right now. I'm busy. Yeah, I know, I
- 9:42know. But when he came onto the screen, I immediately
- 9:45had bad feelings. He's a great mean guy. In this
- 9:48show, he's not mean. No, and he's a cutie. He's
- 9:51very handsome. And he's very flattering towards
- 9:54Kathryn. He loves Kathryn, as do we all.
- 9:57Yeah, he's like, love your book. Love you. He
- 10:00has a thing for redheads, which I think he says
- 10:02later on in the season. You know what? Who among
- 10:05us doesn't? I know. Daphne is working on the
- 10:08cupcakes at Regina's house, and they actually
- 10:10look really yummy. I still wouldn't pay $5 for
- 10:12them, sorry. Yeah, not $5 cupcakes. And then
- 10:14she, did you notice that she has a donation box
- 10:17so people could put the money in? And it says,
- 10:19Save Ripley, with a picture of Emmett on it.
- 10:22But it looks like Emmett is Ripley and that
- 10:25like he's dying of cancer or something. You know,
- 10:27what the Buckner kids don't know contextually
- 10:30won't hurt him. I guess. I don't really care about
- 10:33that I think she's allowed to exploit those Buckner
- 10:35children just fine. You're right. Regina comes
- 10:38in she's like yummy cupcakes and then she says
- 10:42by the way, working on the salon, and Angelo is
- 10:45investing. She really, and then she says if you're
- 10:49not comfortable with it, I won't do it. They already
- 10:52got it. And Daphne's like, I don't want to be the
- 10:55reason that you don't get the salon. Regina's
- 10:58like it wouldn't be like that. You just set it
- 11:00up so it totally would be like that. They already
- 11:03signed the lease at this point. She frames
- 11:06it really unfairly towards Daphne so Daphne basically
- 11:09has to say yes. Yeah. But she also doesn't seem
- 11:12to care. She's busy. That much because she's just
- 11:15busy with this Emmett stuff. And then Bay shows
- 11:18up at Carlton to see Emmett because she hasn't
- 11:21been able to talk to him or see him really. And
- 11:23they have a kind of, I feel like their exchange
- 11:25is kind of awkward. I know that he's moody. But
- 11:27I thought they'd kind of put everything to bed
- 11:29in the last episode between them. And then he's
- 11:33like, I don't know. He doesn't seem very... I
- 11:35think he's just down. I think he's stressed because
- 11:37he has to get $5,000 within one week. Yeah,
- 11:40the way he's putting up signs like, do you need
- 11:42me to fix your motorcycle? And it's like, baby,
- 11:44I think it's too late. Yeah, he and Bay are hanging
- 11:47out flyers that say Emmett's expert motorcycle repair.
- 11:51Expert? Okay. He built the... He did build a
- 11:54bike on his own. That's true. He's an expert.
- 11:56But he's not in a great mood. And one of the
- 11:59things he signs to Bay is, my mom is being such
- 12:01a hypocrite, which is this. It's
- 12:04like your left hand, your right hand is lapping
- 12:08your left hand, and then they both go downwards.
- 12:11And that means hypocrite. Anyways, but Bay's
- 12:14like, I don't know what that sign means. And
- 12:15as he finger spells it, Melody walks right in.
- 12:19Awkward. Awkward. And then Bay offers to help
- 12:23Emmett with paying for the fine. Yeah, she talks
- 12:26to Melody about it. And Melody's like, thank
- 12:28you, but Emmett needs to figure out this problem
- 12:31for himself. And then Bay suggests like, well,
- 12:34what if he did a payment plan? And Melody's like,
- 12:37girl, that's not how it works. But I think this
- 12:39is a fair question because in the state of New
- 12:41York, or at least in New York City, you can do
- 12:43a payment plan for a fine. You can do payment
- 12:46plans if you have a traffic fine. And also,
- 12:49you are eligible if you have like an undue hardship.
- 12:52So if you're unemployed or if you earn below
- 12:55a certain amount. Or if you are a minor, probably.
- 12:58Or if you're a minor, he doesn't have a job.
- 12:59You can do a payment plan for like up to two
- 13:03years. So that's a fair question. Extremely fair
- 13:06question. But Melody's like, all you think about
- 13:08is money. The world you live in is all about
- 13:10money. And that's not how it works. Yeah. Anyway,
- 13:13Toby and Wilke are planning their music video
- 13:15still. And they've got costumes now for the capybara.
- 13:18Yes, really exciting. And Simone hears about
- 13:20it at Buckner. And she offers to help film it.
- 13:23She clearly has some ulterior motive. Also, I
- 13:26feel like I really got the vibe from this exchange.
- 13:29Wilke hates Simone. Yeah. Like, he's cute about
- 13:32it, but he hates her. He does not want her involved.
- 13:35And then back at the Kennish house, John is railroading
- 13:38Kathryn about the lawyer thing. And then Daphne
- 13:41is chasing down kids at Buckner, being like,
- 13:43please buy a cupcake. But also there's a kid
- 13:46that doesn't buy or like - He takes a cupcake,
- 13:49walks away. And then she goes, hey, I'm the one
- 13:51who's deaf, not you. Pay up, buddy. Yeah. And
- 13:54then she says, everyone at Buckner thinks everything
- 13:56is free. They think they don't have to pay for
- 13:58anything and she's trying to talk to Wilke and
- 14:01Wilke's like I don't want to be friends
- 14:03with you. He fully says that. She's like we're
- 14:06still friends right? He says I have a lot of friends.
- 14:08No, I'm good. Yeah which kind of sucks on his part
- 14:12but she was really leading him on. Really was.
- 14:15She's breaking his heart. So rarely am I like
- 14:18well she led him on. She was. She was. Bay
- 14:21and Daphne are back at the Kennish house reconvening
- 14:24and discussing how they both made no money from
- 14:27the joint efforts. Yeah. Daphne's like but this
- 14:30is so stupid. Look at this mansion we are in right
- 14:33now. We are surrounded by money. Why can't we
- 14:36just ask John and Kathryn to help? And Bay's
- 14:38like, so you want to ask John and Kathryn,
- 14:40the most anti-motorcycle people ever, to pay
- 14:43for Emmett's motorcycle so he could keep it?
- 14:45And she says, yeah, that is what I want. And
- 14:48then Daphne says, what if we lied? And Bay is
- 14:50like, no. Yeah, Bay's like, definitely don't
- 14:54do that. Don't do that. And Daphne's like, what
- 14:55if I did, though? And then she lies. Immediately
- 14:58cut to the next scene. She lies. Yeah. She tells
- 15:01John and Kathryn, I lost my hearing aids and
- 15:04insurance won't pay for a second pair. I need
- 15:07$5,000. And John is like, $5,000? Easy. Yeah,
- 15:11this scene was so funny because, yeah, they're
- 15:13so sweet about it. They're being so nice about
- 15:16it. She's like don't tell Regina because Regina's
- 15:18going to kill me. And John and Kathryn are
- 15:20trying to be very proactive. They're like, we
- 15:23can call the doctor and help you out. And she's
- 15:25like, no, no, no, no, no. Don't call the doctor.
- 15:28I'll handle everything. I love that they're like,
- 15:30that they snap into like, we're going to fix
- 15:33everything for you. It's sweet. It makes me sad
- 15:36that she only gets to experience that in this
- 15:38scenario because like she deserves that. She
- 15:41deserves to have that. She does, but she had
- 15:44to lie to get it. John says, we just want to
- 15:46take care of you. Yeah. So they write her a check
- 15:49to her name for $5,000. So easy. And then Daphne
- 15:53immediately goes back to Bay. Yeah. With the
- 15:56check. And Bay's looking at it like shocked and
- 15:58also kind of annoyed that it worked. And then
- 16:00Daphne's like, I feel so bad. And Bay calls it
- 16:03the lying afterburn. And Daphne's like, I could
- 16:05have asked for so much more. And Bay's like,
- 16:07we get it. Yeah, we get it. They love you. I
- 16:09noticed that Bay has an American Sign Language
- 16:11textbook on her lap in this scene. Oh, my God.
- 16:14She's learning. She's learning. She's studying.
- 16:17Nice touch, guys. Also, hearing aids out of pocket.
- 16:21At least now. I don't know about 2012, but they
- 16:24range from about $2,000 to $7,000. So 5,000
- 16:27tracks. So when I heard that, I was like, okay,
- 16:30that makes a lot of sense. I've heard Costco
- 16:32has really good deals on hearing aids. Well,
- 16:35if you ever need hearing aids in the future.
- 16:36Hey guys, if you need hearing aids from Costco,
- 16:38they got them. If you need hearing aids, get
- 16:40hearing aids. Please. Please. Hearing loss can
- 16:43lead to really quick cognitive decline as you
- 16:46get older. Take care of yourself, guys. Yeah,
- 16:48just wear the hearing aids. They look cute. And
- 16:50don't be stubborn about it, especially older
- 16:52people. They're like, I can hear just fine. Yeah,
- 16:54and then they cognitively decline. I know. Drives
- 16:58me insane. I'm like, what's the problem with
- 17:00wearing hearing aids? Huh? Yeah. Huh? There shouldn't
- 17:03be one. It's mostly men. You know that. I do.
- 17:06Now we are with Angelo and Regina, and I guess
- 17:09they got the salon space. They are inside. It's
- 17:12like an empty space. Yeah there's a giant Leased
- 17:16sticker slapped over the For Lease sign. This
- 17:19is when my wife walked into the room while I
- 17:21was watching the show. My wife who does not watch
- 17:24the show, she just listens to the podcast, and
- 17:26goes oh my god Angelo is so hot. I'm vindicated.
- 17:30And then goes Bay has such hot parents. And I said,
- 17:35you're right. She really does. I don't remember
- 17:36what happened in this scene because I got distracted
- 17:38by my wife. They're just like talking and like
- 17:42cheersing and then Angelo's like, I can't
- 17:45believe you kept that necklace. And Regina's
- 17:47wearing this ugly ass necklace. And the implication
- 17:49is that he made Regina the necklace. And she
- 17:52was like, I was feeling superstitious. And he's
- 17:54like, I'm going to make Daphne one too. My main
- 17:57takeaway was just, I know, guys. I know this
- 17:59is a television show. I know that that's why
- 18:01it works this way. They have moved on so fast.
- 18:05So fast. From all of their beef. After Regina
- 18:08spent so many years hating Angelo. And Angelo
- 18:11spent so many years running away from Regina.
- 18:14And now they're going into business together.
- 18:16And two episodes ago, they bickered at that jazz
- 18:19bar with Bay. Yeah. So like, I know it's just
- 18:22that they're kind of like horny for each other
- 18:24again. And so they're like, what if we were just
- 18:26in each other's lives? But it's such a bad idea.
- 18:30It's such a bad idea. I think, guys, you should
- 18:32not go into business with someone that you had
- 18:34a previous relationship with and then who disappeared
- 18:37off the face of the earth for 13 years and now
- 18:39all of a sudden came back. I just don't think
- 18:41it's a good idea. Definitely not. Anyway, we're
- 18:44on to the music video shoot and Simone is feeding
- 18:47Toby candy and like talking about how she's
- 18:50always been a fan of the band and like whatever
- 18:53I just like don't really care about their relationship
- 18:55that much I'm sorry. My wife is watching this
- 18:58with me at this point and says that's Austin
- 19:00Butler? And then she does not find him hot. Wow
- 19:03I thought A and I had the same taste. No, I'm so
- 19:06sorry. Okay, we're back at Regina's. And Daphne
- 19:09apparently accidentally sent a text to Regina.
- 19:13Oh, my God. This has happened to everyone. I
- 19:15have also accidentally sent a text to my parents
- 19:17that I did not mean to. But the text says, Ripley
- 19:20saved. And Regina's like, so what's that about,
- 19:23honey? Yeah, and Daphne is... Immediately. She
- 19:26is gray in the face. Immediately. Like, her face
- 19:29is literally gray. She's so stressed out about
- 19:31lying. Yeah, so interesting. She cannot lie to
- 19:34Regina. No. But so easy to lie to John and Kathryn.
- 19:37That makes sense. That's true, I guess. That's
- 19:40like her mom versus some people that she just
- 19:43met a few months ago. She just met a few months
- 19:44ago, yeah. That totally makes sense. But immediately
- 19:46confesses and says, oh, I got $5,000 from John
- 19:51and Kathryn. I told them I lost my hearing
- 19:53aids. Yeah, just lays it all out there. Sim com
- 19:55alert also. And then Regina's obviously really
- 19:58mad, and I get it. I just wrote down the one
- 20:01line that I don't really like, where she kind
- 20:03of makes it about her, where she says, what did
- 20:05you say the money was for? Something I'm too
- 20:07poor to give you? Girl, we don't care about that
- 20:10right now. It's not about you, Regina. Daphne
- 20:14lied for her own reasons. Yeah, she didn't throw
- 20:18Regina under the bus. No, not at all. With John
- 20:21and Kathryn, like she was just like I don't
- 20:23want to tell my mom because it's gonna make her
- 20:25so mad that I lost them so. She didn't say my
- 20:28mom is too poor to pay for it. She's just like
- 20:30I don't want to get in trouble. Yeah. Also, reasonably,
- 20:33even someone who's flush with cash, $5,000 should
- 20:36still feel like a lot of money, because it is.
- 20:38It is. Daphne goes and confesses to Kathryn.
- 20:41Apparently she went to the bank already and cashed
- 20:44her check. Oh, she cashed that check fast. Oh,
- 20:46she has a wad of cash. And she drops in front
- 20:49of Kathryn and says, I'm so sorry, I lied.
- 20:52And Kathryn does not go easy on her. She's
- 20:55not happy. Kathryn is pissed. And she really,
- 20:57like, she calls her out. She's like, you used
- 20:59us like an ATM. And then she says, give me your
- 21:03car keys. No driving for a month. Yeah. Fine
- 21:05by me. Fine by me, too. But how is Daphne going
- 21:07to get to school now that Emmett doesn't have
- 21:09his motorcycle and she doesn't have her car?
- 21:12Maybe Bay can drive her. They go to different
- 21:13schools. OK, but Bay is at Carlton all the time.
- 21:17I know, but just like realistically. Whatever.
- 21:19Maybe Kathryn will finally get her way and
- 21:21she'll get to drive Daphne to school. Yeah, that's
- 21:23true. They can get smoothies and drive to school.
- 21:26Ice blendeds. And then Kathryn is, like, talking
- 21:29to Regina more and is like, why would she do
- 21:31this? And Regina's like, it's all because of
- 21:34Angelo. No, it's not. I don't think this is about
- 21:36Angelo, honestly. If Angelo didn't show up, this
- 21:38still would have happened. I still feel like
- 21:39Daphne would have done this. Daphne did this
- 21:41because she wanted to be the one to save Emmett.
- 21:44And she says, like, after all the times he saved
- 21:46me. But what she really means is she wanted to
- 21:48save Emmett over Bay like she wanted to
- 21:51be the one. She wanted to win. Yeah she wanted
- 21:53to win in this little like relationship challenge.
- 21:55But yeah Regina's like it's all about Angelo,
- 21:58it's because we're going into business together
- 22:00and Kathryn's like whoa what the fuck? That's
- 22:03crazy, that's a crazy thing not to mention. And
- 22:06then Regina says yeah I'm trying to build some
- 22:09financial independence for myself. So I don't
- 22:12think opening a business is how you would do
- 22:14that. I think what she means is like she wants
- 22:16to be independent from the Kennishes. Fine. But
- 22:19you building that quote independence by just
- 22:23using the money from your ex-husband who is
- 22:26shady is like not the way to do it. So that's
- 22:28not how you do it. Regina loves that high horse.
- 22:31She's like I'm just building financial independence
- 22:33for myself. I'm just like girl bossing and it's
- 22:35like okay. And Kathryn's rightfully like that's
- 22:38such a bad idea. Such a bad idea. And then Kathryn
- 22:41assumes that Bay is really the one. I know, she
- 22:45goes up to Bay and she's like so Daphne lied
- 22:48to me and told me that she lost her hearing
- 22:50aid so she could get money to save Emmett's motorcycle.
- 22:53Was this your idea? And Bay's like, no. In fact,
- 22:56I told her the opposite. I told her not to lie.
- 22:59And then Kathryn's like, so you knew that she
- 23:02was going to do this and you didn't tell me?
- 23:04Why would she tattle? Yeah, she's not a snitch.
- 23:07No. Snitches gets stitches. Come on, guys. She
- 23:10just said, hey, sister, bad idea. Yeah, I think
- 23:13Bay is in the clear here. Yeah, poor Bay. Yeah,
- 23:17this was a real poor Bay moment. I know. And
- 23:20then John shows up at Angelo's place and he walks
- 23:23in and he goes, I didn't know you craft. Because
- 23:25Angelo is making Daphne another, like, ugly necklace.
- 23:29After, yeah. I love that this little plot point.
- 23:32They were like, what if Angelo was crafty? I...
- 23:36loved the standoff between two sexy dads. I know.
- 23:39I had a great time. Well, John goes mainly to
- 23:42say, so apparently there's no record of you for
- 23:45the last two years. Why is that? And Angelo gives
- 23:48this very strange answer. And basically he says,
- 23:51I think this is how I interpret it. He was like,
- 23:53I had a sugar mommy. He had a sugar mommy. And
- 23:56you know what? I get it. Yeah, he was like, when
- 23:59I was in Chicago, I was with this woman who was
- 24:01so rich. She, quote, took care of everything.
- 24:03She took care of everything, and I didn't have
- 24:05to work. That sounds awesome. I don't think that's
- 24:07true, but. Could be. Have you seen Angelo?
- 24:10He's hot now. He's sugar baby material. But that's
- 24:12basically what he says. Yeah, he says, I had
- 24:15a sugar mommy, and then John's like sorry,
- 24:18it's just that we like can't really trust anyone
- 24:20after the whole Regina thing. And Angelo's like,
- 24:23what? And then John drops, oh, you know, Regina
- 24:27knew about the switch since the girls were three.
- 24:29Do you think he reveals this on purpose? Do you
- 24:32think that he genuinely didn't like, thought that
- 24:35Angelo knew and was just like chill with it and
- 24:38it hadn't come out? I honestly don't know. I
- 24:40don't know. Part of me is like, I like to think
- 24:43John was stirring the pot a little bit. Yeah. Because
- 24:45he knows they're getting buddy-buddy. Totally.
- 24:47And I feel like John's been holding on to this
- 24:49beef with Regina. Like, he's got this axe to
- 24:52grind. I know. And so maybe he's just been, like,
- 24:55waiting. And that was a great thing to do. No,
- 24:57it was. And she should have told him. Yeah, that
- 25:00was her fault. So, yeah, Angelo's visibly upset.
- 25:04Cut to Daphne and Bay are arguing because Bay's
- 25:07like, how the hell did you accidentally text
- 25:09your mom and then confess everything to her?
- 25:11Like, that's crazy. Yeah, and Daphne goes, they
- 25:13were right next to each other. Daphne is wearing.
- 25:16An orange striped cardigan. I wrote this. Over
- 25:18a fucking orange flower print shirt. It's orange
- 25:22and gray striped cardigan with an orange and
- 25:24gray floral tank top. She looks like a 12 year
- 25:27old. It's so bad. I just, it feels derogatory
- 25:32against redheads. Like, why are you doing this
- 25:35to my girl? She's gorgeous. Why would they do
- 25:37this to her? And Bay is wearing a very normal
- 25:40outfit. Yeah, Bay looks good. She's wearing like
- 25:42a brown leather jacket and jeans. And jeans that
- 25:44aren't like crazy, they like fit her nicely she
- 25:47looks really nice. She's wearing like a chunky
- 25:50belt which is very of the time but I don't hate
- 25:52it. No she looks great. This is a good Bay episode.
- 25:54Bad Daphne episode. Yeah, really bad Daphne episode.
- 25:57She looks insane and A is watching this with
- 26:00me at the time and A goes what the hell is she
- 26:02wearing? Anyway and then Bay is like well my pitch
- 26:06is you seduce Wilke. And get the money from him,
- 26:08easy. But Daphne's like no I'm good. But they kind
- 26:12of, she kind of agrees because then they do go
- 26:14to the video shoot immediately following this.
- 26:16Well, before that, Daphne tells Bay, oh, I confessed
- 26:20to Kathryn and she took away my car keys. And
- 26:22Bay's thrilled to hear about this. Bay's like,
- 26:24you are getting consequences for your actions.
- 26:27I love this. And then Bay's like, don't worry,
- 26:30I'll drive us to the video shoot so that you
- 26:32can seduce Wilke for the money. Drive? Isn't
- 26:35it at Toby's music room? They've like rented
- 26:39a space. Oh, my God. That's so much money. Yeah.
- 26:41Which is why when they get there, they're like,
- 26:43we don't have the money. We already spent it
- 26:46on all this stuff. Yeah. On this capybara that
- 26:48never shows up, by the way. Well, they. Yeah.
- 26:51Animal rights issues. Yeah. But they basically
- 26:55give this big speech like, you guys should care
- 26:57more about Emmett. He's your drummer. You're
- 26:59shooting a music video and he's not even in it.
- 27:01And Wilke goes. We're going to do inserts, which
- 27:05I feel is the new it happened off screen. We're
- 27:07going to do inserts. And then Daphne kind of
- 27:10pulls Wilke aside and she's like, are you sure
- 27:14you don't have the money? And he looks so pained
- 27:17and beautiful and pathetic. I love a pathetic
- 27:19man. He looks so pathetically in love with her.
- 27:23And he says, if I had the money, I would give
- 27:25it to you. He says, look, I get it. It's no fun
- 27:28going after something you're not going to get.
- 27:30So good. Good job. And that really affects Daphne.
- 27:33And then Angelo shows up at Regina's. Yes. And
- 27:37he is furious. And he comes in and he's like,
- 27:39I don't care that I'm breaking the rules. Yeah,
- 27:41he's banned from the Kennish property. Yeah,
- 27:42he's not supposed to be there. He's so mad. And
- 27:45he calls her out. He says, I just found out about
- 27:47the girls. And he's like, you should have told
- 27:50me. Regina goes, I called you in Italy and some
- 27:54woman answered. Are we to believe that Regina's
- 27:57been mad at Angelo and keeping him from his daughters
- 28:02for this long, literally because she's mad that
- 28:05he was sleeping with someone else after he left
- 28:07her? Honestly, I see that for her. Me too. And
- 28:10then he's like, I had a right to know what if
- 28:12I wanted to contact her. She says, I didn't want
- 28:15you to contact her. I did what I did to protect
- 28:19her and protect both girls. I also rolled my
- 28:22eyes at that. Because I feel like maybe a little
- 28:26bit, yes, you were protecting the girls, but
- 28:27you were also protecting yourself. Yes. So there's
- 28:30that. Yeah. And then he storms out and he's like,
- 28:33I'm done. I'm done with everything. I'm done.
- 28:34He leaves. Well, after that is when Bay and
- 28:37Daphne are outside Emmett's house and Daphne
- 28:40has this part where she reminisces about the
- 28:43liberation she feels on Emmett's bike and she
- 28:45feels free and close to him. It's nice. And then
- 28:49we're back at the video shoot? Yeah, whatever
- 28:53this nondescript studio location. And Toby is
- 28:57drumming on the guitar and singing. And I have
- 29:00secondhand embarrassment from it. I'm really
- 29:02sorry. Really? He sounds good, though. He sounds
- 29:05good, but... What's the problem? I think singing
- 29:08on the guitar in public is kind of embarrassing.
- 29:11He's not in public. He's in the studio where
- 29:14they're shooting his music video. He's outside.
- 29:16Because Simone walks outside and sees him. I
- 29:19think it's fine considering he's in a band and
- 29:22he's like... I guess. He's working on his, like,
- 29:25solo song. I think I just do not have a thing
- 29:28for boys playing guitar and singing. Well, you're
- 29:31a lesbian. I am. So that makes sense. I just,
- 29:34like, Lucas Grabeel can really sing. So I was
- 29:36like, this is really nice. Oh my gosh, 20 years
- 29:38of High School Musical, by the way. Yeah, I know.
- 29:40I was kind of regretting that I didn't throw
- 29:42a party for it. That's okay. Next time. Next
- 29:45time. For 25. Or I'll wait. I'll do it next year
- 29:47for High School Musical 2. The best movie. The
- 29:49best one, yeah. The best one. Um, Simone walks in.
- 29:53She clearly has a crush on Toby. And then she
- 29:55confesses that she is obsessed with the band.
- 29:59She's Guitar Face's number one fan. You couldn't
- 30:02waterboard this information with me. The way
- 30:04she's like, I've been to every show. I went out
- 30:07to East West Fest just to see you. Not for Helen
- 30:10Mirren's Cleavage. Not for them. It was to see
- 30:13you and only you. I would never tell this to
- 30:16a man. No. But then they kiss. Yeah. It's cute.
- 30:19Good for Toby. Yeah. Bay and Daphne go see Emmett
- 30:23in his garage and they're like, we really tried
- 30:25to help you save money, but we could not. He
- 30:28says, that's all right. Want to do one last ride
- 30:31on Ripley? And Bay and Daphne are like, you go.
- 30:34No, you go. Who do you think should have actually
- 30:36gone? I don't think there's a right answer. Okay.
- 30:39I think we, the audience, thought it was going
- 30:41to be Daphne because she just shared that story
- 30:43about feeling free. On that bike. Also, in that
- 30:47story, she said they went 70 miles an hour on
- 30:50these windy roads. I know. I was like, that's
- 30:53so scary. Don't do that. You are not helping
- 30:54the case. No. Keeping that motorcycle. That is
- 30:57so dangerous. Yeah, don't let the Kennishes hear
- 30:59that. I know. But Daphne offers the very last
- 31:02joyride to Bay. I think that's fine. I feel like
- 31:05there would have been time for two people to
- 31:07go. Couldn't they have just taken turns? Yeah.
- 31:09Or would that have been weird just to sit in
- 31:11the garage and wait? But also Daphne does sit
- 31:13in the garage and wait. Well, she calls Wilke
- 31:15for a ride. And he comes, I guess. And he comes.
- 31:18So yeah, Daphne is like, this is her big moment.
- 31:22She's journeyed a lot through this episode from
- 31:24the start fantasizing about making out with Emmett
- 31:26to now. But she steps aside and she says, no,
- 31:30like Bay, you guys should get to like make memories
- 31:33on the bike. I guess for me, yeah, I kind of
- 31:35felt like it was unearned in that regards. Like
- 31:38I think Daphne and Emmett's friendship deserved.
- 31:41They deserved their moment to, like, say goodbye
- 31:44to the bike. Because it was important to Daphne,
- 31:45too. Right. Versus Bay not even knowing what
- 31:48the bike's name was. Because her and Emmett still
- 31:51don't really speak the same language. I don't
- 31:53know. Yeah. I agree with you. I was surprised
- 31:55that Bay got the last ride. And also kind of
- 31:58surprised Emmett kind of sucks. Because, like,
- 32:00I don't know. If you were a real friend to Daphne,
- 32:02wouldn't you be like, come on, girl. Get on.
- 32:05Instead of being like. Anybody want to go for
- 32:07a ride? You know what I mean? Yeah. He's just
- 32:10kind of neutral about the whole thing. But I
- 32:12think he didn't want to piss off, Bay. He's being
- 32:14a bad friend. Yeah, that's true. But yeah, Daphne
- 32:16calls Wilke and he shows up and he says, am
- 32:19I your new taxi service? Because he's replacing
- 32:22Emmett, basically. They're back to being good.
- 32:25And then Craig Tebbe, the lawyer, stops by to
- 32:28drop off some books from a publishing house that
- 32:31he thinks Kathryn should submit the memoir
- 32:34to. Kathryn loves him. He's cute and smart
- 32:37and young. And he calls himself noisy. He calls
- 32:40himself noisy. He says, if you want to make a
- 32:43quiet deal, you should go with that other guy.
- 32:45But if you want to make noise and you want to
- 32:47go to trial and you want to hold the hospital
- 32:49accountable, I'm your guy. And they hire him.
- 32:52Yeah. So we have a new lawyer, guys. Yeah. John
- 32:55is really swayed by that speech. Yeah, he is.
- 32:58He really likes it. So John and Kathryn choose
- 33:00Craig. So we'll be seeing more of Craig. Yay.
- 33:03And then we are at Melody and Emmett's house.
- 33:07And Emmett has sold the bike. It's the next
- 33:09morning. And he says, I have $4,750. Here you go,
- 33:14Mom, I sold the bike. I'm moving in with Dad.
- 33:16Mic drop. He says, I'm moving in with Dad. Fuck
- 33:19you, basically. He doesn't say fuck you. But
- 33:21in his vibe, he says fuck you. He signs, I'm
- 33:23moving in with Dad. And then he walks away. And
- 33:25then you just see Melody's face drop. So we'll
- 33:27see about that. Yeah. And then the very last
- 33:30scene, Regina kind of goes into the salon space
- 33:33to say goodbye. She puts the key on the table.
- 33:36Yeah, she's having a very dramatic solo farewell.
- 33:38She like strokes the table and she's like, bye
- 33:40-bye salon. Goodbye. Goodbye dream I've had for
- 33:43like two weeks. But then Angelo was behind a
- 33:45pole or something. Yeah, he like comes out from
- 33:48the back and he doesn't look mad at her anymore.
- 33:51He says, aren't we working on the space together?
- 33:54What's going on? But basically he empathizes
- 33:57with what she did and he says, I get it. He says,
- 33:59I thought about it and I don't know what I would
- 34:01have done. So I don't want to judge what you
- 34:03chose to do. And that is like the first time
- 34:06someone has empathized with what Regina has done.
- 34:09So she is crying tears of relief, basically.
- 34:12Yeah, she is very moved. Very moved. So moved,
- 34:16in fact. That they lean in and then they kiss.
- 34:19And then they kiss. And that's the end of the
- 34:21episode. Yeah. I am not loving them kissing.
- 34:24I'm not rooting for them. No. I don't think they
- 34:26have good physical chemistry, those two actors.
- 34:29They're both very hot. Yeah. That's not their
- 34:32problem. No. But yeah, you're right. They're
- 34:35just not compatible. And Constance has had good
- 34:39chemistry with other actors. Yes. That she's
- 34:42worked with on the show and will in the future.
- 34:44So I think it's just them. And maybe it's also
- 34:46that I don't want the characters to be together.
- 34:49Two queens maximizing their joint slay. Their
- 34:51joint scam. Their joint scam. Yeah. I was kind
- 34:55of surprised at how fast he forgave her. Well,
- 34:57the show moves on so fast from everything. I'm
- 34:59getting whiplash. It's crazy. Thoughts? What
- 35:03are my thoughts? I don't see what this has to
- 35:05do with the painting. Nothing. They just thought
- 35:07it would be a little fun. The French. Angelo's
