- 1:23Speaker 3: I'm trying.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm man.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I checked in there for like the first time the
- 1:29Speaker 2: other day in months. Somebody giving me a birthday shot.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Hold on there, I had to hit a light carding
- 1:34Speaker 2: and then I just love That was it. That was
- 1:36Speaker 2: it for my adventures on Twitter in months.
- 1:39Speaker 3: You ain't missing anything. It's likely out there.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I believe it.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know it is beautiful and here tonight
- 1:45Speaker 2: because we are here to discuss Darth Mall shadow Lord
- 1:52Speaker 2: or is it just Mall yeah Lord?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Just yeah, that's right, but that's ogs no that we
- 1:58Speaker 3: knew him when he was dark.
- 2:01Speaker 1: True.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Indeed, we knew him when he was does you know
- 2:03Speaker 2: we knew when he was robbing people in the alley
- 2:05Speaker 2: over there.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Mama called him Dart and we're gonna call him there.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It is there, it is so yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Maul's Shadow Lord, the new series from Disney Plus, of course,
- 2:17Speaker 2: created by Dave Feloney, of course, is dropping on the sixth,
- 2:23Speaker 2: the sixth for the sith Very nice, right, very nicely
- 2:28Speaker 2: done Disney, And uh so yeah, the first two episodes
- 2:32Speaker 2: will be out. We are about to give a pretty
- 2:34Speaker 2: non spoiler review of the whole We've seen eight episodes.
- 2:38Speaker 2: There are ten episodes total. They'll be dropping two every week.
- 2:42Speaker 2: We've seen the first eight, but this will be a
- 2:46Speaker 2: non spoiler on pretty much everything because I can't even remember,
- 2:48Speaker 2: you know, like the first two episodes. So I'm not
- 2:50Speaker 2: gonna sit there to t w spoilers on them. I'm
- 2:52Speaker 2: just to give you, you know, the general overall feeling
- 2:54Speaker 2: on the whole series or what we've seen it.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So Roan you up first. What did you think? What
- 2:59Speaker 1: were your general thoughts on the first episodes?
- 3:02Speaker 3: Doals Mall gets cut in half? No, that's different.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I was at one point they need a supercut of
- 3:10Speaker 2: all the time he's been killed.
- 3:12Speaker 3: That's right. It's like it's like who killed Kenny?
- 3:16Speaker 1: My man gets murt a lot, That's right.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Having said that, in true evil fashion, he is resilient
- 3:23Speaker 3: and will refuse to die, and good thing for all
- 3:26Speaker 3: of us, because yeah, I mean generally speaking, this show
- 3:30Speaker 3: was sick. I loved it. I loved it, and look,
- 3:33Speaker 3: I gotta say, I'm a long time old school like
- 3:38Speaker 3: Star Wars fan. I started doing my entertainment journalism focusing
- 3:43Speaker 3: on Star Wars exclusively because that was my primary fandom.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But look, admittedly, in recent years it's been you know,
- 3:52Speaker 3: I've been falling in and out of love, and I
- 3:54Speaker 3: would say I still enjoyed Star Wars, but the passion
- 4:00Speaker 3: and the love is not at an all time high.
- 4:03Speaker 3: But Maul really brought together a lot of things that
- 4:07Speaker 3: I genuinely generally love about Star Wars.
- 4:09Speaker 2: All right, that being said, what was the first Star
- 4:11Speaker 2: Wars film you saw in theaters? When you say you're
- 4:13Speaker 2: old school Star Wars?
- 4:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm old, but maybe not that old.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Like I didn't see the seventy seven in theaters, although
- 4:21Speaker 3: I wish. The first one I think I saw was
- 4:23Speaker 3: when they brought back the Special Editions, and I think
- 4:28Speaker 3: like the mid nineties is when they brought them back,
- 4:31Speaker 3: and that was like a new hope, you know. Special
- 4:33Speaker 3: Edition was probably the first one I actually saw in theaters.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And then for a Phantom Menace, I was living in
- 4:39Speaker 3: the Bay Area and I slept over. I'm kind of
- 4:42Speaker 3: embarrassed to say this, slept over. You have to back
- 4:45Speaker 3: then there. You couldn't even buy tickets on the internet.
- 4:47Speaker 3: You have to physically be there, so you have to
- 4:49Speaker 3: sleep on the cold Heart cement at the Coronet. OG's
- 4:53Speaker 3: no what the Coronet Theater in San Francisco is. Rick McCollum,
- 4:57Speaker 3: old school producer buddy of Yeas Lucas would come down
- 4:59Speaker 3: the line to hang out with us.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Wow, oh my god.
- 5:04Speaker 2: All right, I saw The Phantom Menace in theaters too,
- 5:07Speaker 2: but it was in Maryland and it was me and
- 5:09Speaker 2: my brother DJ Analyzed, and we went early that day,
- 5:12Speaker 2: I remember, but we didn't have to do any of that.
- 5:14Speaker 2: We didn't have to sleep out or anything. I just
- 5:16Speaker 2: remember how beautiful a day it was and how we
- 5:19Speaker 2: were so hype. And then yeah, that movie is jar
- 5:23Speaker 2: Drop popped out.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Bro.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It's so crazy, like cause, I mean, me and Analyts
- 5:28Speaker 2: were living together in college at the time, and I'm
- 5:31Speaker 2: you know, we've watched the trailer so many times. We
- 5:33Speaker 2: were so high for that past so many times. That
- 5:35Speaker 2: trailer still gives me chills. And then the movie is incredible,
- 5:40Speaker 2: like they do all this little stuff like the Jedi
- 5:43Speaker 2: running down the hall really fast and him cutting open
- 5:46Speaker 2: the wall with the saber and stuff I just never
- 5:48Speaker 2: seen before. And then jaw Drop hoops out and it's
- 5:50Speaker 2: just but it's like there's like ten minutes I guess
- 5:54Speaker 2: fifteen minutes before he comes out, and that was a
- 5:56Speaker 2: really great fifteen minutes.
- 6:02Speaker 3: But I have to say, I mean, I don't think
- 6:04Speaker 3: jar Jars aged. Okay, Yeah, I was willing to just
- 6:10Speaker 3: let it go because and it's totally relevant to our
- 6:13Speaker 3: conversation today because the part that I mean, like you said,
- 6:16Speaker 3: it was dope. They were doing these things we had
- 6:17Speaker 3: all as fans talked about for years when it was
- 6:20Speaker 3: the dark times, right before there was we thought there
- 6:23Speaker 3: would never be new Star Wars. Suddenly we got Qui
- 6:26Speaker 3: Gone and Young Obi Wan. They're doing all the lightsabers,
- 6:28Speaker 3: and it was fire. And but that that third act
- 6:33Speaker 3: when the blast stores open and Mall is sitting there
- 6:37Speaker 3: and he likes it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I mean, that was like when Mall starts pacing and
- 6:42Speaker 2: Qui Gon starts meditating. That's like I remember being in
- 6:47Speaker 2: the theater like, oh.
- 6:51Speaker 3: See, this is what I'm saying. It was it has
- 6:54Speaker 3: as faused, but man, those moments.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Those moments, I mean, do the fates. And then it's
- 6:59Speaker 2: like also relevant to our conversation here is the fact
- 7:04Speaker 2: of the Clone Wars and Rebels, which because I saw
- 7:09Speaker 2: those late, I'll be honest say I was. I remember
- 7:11Speaker 2: when the first Plone Wars the Jean Tartarbaro I'm always
- 7:15Speaker 2: missed pronounced Tartakowski Partokoski. When that came out, I was
- 7:20Speaker 2: on it. I thought it was I was like, again,
- 7:22Speaker 2: this is the greatest thing I've ever seen. But then
- 7:24Speaker 2: when they brought out the actual TV show, I didn't
- 7:27Speaker 2: like that style of animation, so I just did not
- 7:29Speaker 2: watch it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And it wasn't until Pandemic.
- 7:32Speaker 2: When I just, you know, like whatever, people for years
- 7:35Speaker 2: that told me how great it was, and then I
- 7:37Speaker 2: sat down and I'm like, oh my god, this is
- 7:39Speaker 2: the greatest Star Wars I've ever seen, you know, Clone Wars, Rebels.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I watched it all straight through. It was just actually
- 7:45Speaker 2: still haven't finished Rebels. I have three more, two more episodes.
- 7:48Speaker 2: You know when Boiler Alert, something happens towards the end
- 7:50Speaker 2: of that show and my heart was broken and I'll
- 7:53Speaker 2: never go back to it.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I won't tell you what happened for what you know.
- 7:58Speaker 3: But that's the mark of a great story.
- 8:02Speaker 2: That end of that episode is you know, seared into
- 8:05Speaker 2: my eyes. It just hurts me so much. So anyway
- 8:09Speaker 2: that recontextualized, you know, their og Clone Wars the whole
- 8:15Speaker 2: all three of those movies and made them so much better.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Made Darth Mal's arc, I mean just one, like besides
- 8:22Speaker 2: the Soca, I think Mal has one of the best
- 8:25Speaker 2: arcs in Star Wars. And like, I'm thinking about his
- 8:29Speaker 2: end and again I'm not gonna spoiler, but it happens
- 8:31Speaker 2: in Rebels, and it's just chills right now, you know
- 8:34Speaker 2: it's chilled.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So that's the thing.
- 8:37Speaker 2: This series, Mall takes place in between Clone Wars and Rebels,
- 8:41Speaker 2: so this is filling in the gaps of what we
- 8:43Speaker 2: haven't seen, what happened to Mall in between those two.
- 8:47Speaker 2: So we already know where Mall's going, we know where
- 8:49Speaker 2: he's been. But that's why, just like Ron, I have
- 8:52Speaker 2: to say, I really loved these first Ady episodes. I
- 8:55Speaker 2: thought it was excellent on every level. And it's one
- 8:58Speaker 2: of those things that have has a lot of work
- 9:00Speaker 2: to do because you already know where he's going. If
- 9:04Speaker 2: you're you know, if you've watched all of you know
- 9:06Speaker 2: the Star Wars, you already know his story. So this
- 9:08Speaker 2: is like a prequel, and prequels are notoriously hard to
- 9:12Speaker 2: do because you know where it's going. But I once
- 9:16Speaker 2: saw somebody, I'm not sure what person this, I wish
- 9:18Speaker 2: I could give him credit. It was a film producer
- 9:20Speaker 2: or writer, and they said that every story basically they
- 9:23Speaker 2: were telling a fan is like you already know what
- 9:26Speaker 2: the end of every story is the person dies. Like,
- 9:29Speaker 2: that's the end of every person's story, they die, you know. Yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 2: so you can still tell an interesting story no matter
- 9:36Speaker 2: what you know. And now that made me look at
- 9:39Speaker 2: it differently. But mall, Shadow Lord does an excellent job
- 9:44Speaker 2: as a prequel telling a story introducing new characters. I'll
- 9:49Speaker 2: say off top and immediately was like, okay, y'all, really
- 9:53Speaker 2: you know feeling that and Or.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Vibe with Maul and that you know.
- 9:58Speaker 2: To me, and Or is probably my favorite television show
- 10:01Speaker 2: of all time, not even just Star Wars related. It's
- 10:04Speaker 2: just it's up there with the wire, you know, which
- 10:06Speaker 2: is the one. So to anything that starts giving me
- 10:09Speaker 2: that vibe again, I'm here for it. As soon as
- 10:12Speaker 2: they introduced Brander Lawson, I was all in his family,
- 10:18Speaker 2: what's going on with him and his son and his wife?
- 10:21Speaker 2: That was such an ill dynamic and I was peeping
- 10:25Speaker 2: it early in the first episodes, I'm like, Okay, something's
- 10:27Speaker 2: going on with the wife and lawson. But you know,
- 10:30Speaker 2: as the show it spans and they really let you
- 10:32Speaker 2: know what's going on once again, just you know, shades
- 10:36Speaker 2: of and Or and Lawson is actually working for the
- 10:40Speaker 2: same security firm that I can't remember a dude's name
- 10:44Speaker 2: right now, Dickhead number one and and or was working for.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, a security force basically.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like the local security force that works on
- 10:57Speaker 2: these planets where the Empire doesn't want to be bothered, basically, right,
- 11:01Speaker 2: and Lawson is one of those types who doesn't want
- 11:03Speaker 2: the Empire to come in because he knows what they
- 11:05Speaker 2: really about and for other reasons, which I think, man,
- 11:10Speaker 2: this shows yeah, I'm here for yeah yeah yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 3: And the thing is with any new show, just not
- 11:18Speaker 3: just Star Wars, right, any any new IP show. What's
- 11:21Speaker 3: tough is telling a story introducing new characters that you
- 11:25Speaker 3: don't really care about. When you're like I want to
- 11:27Speaker 3: see mal I want to see you know, cameos. Especially
- 11:30Speaker 3: Star Wars it's like riddled with cameos. It kind of
- 11:33Speaker 3: has that nostalgia bait sometimes that it holds it back, right,
- 11:37Speaker 3: It's like it's what people want, but then it can't
- 11:40Speaker 3: move the story forward or move the franchise forward because
- 11:42Speaker 3: you don't have any characters a Star Wars of any
- 11:45Speaker 3: IP has really struggled with that balance over the last
- 11:47Speaker 3: few years. And here, like if I totally agree with you,
- 11:51Speaker 3: and we haven't. We haven't talked about this before the recording,
- 11:54Speaker 3: so this is like totally genuine. When they introduced lawson,
- 11:57Speaker 3: his daughter, you know, droid like, it was like, Oh,
- 12:02Speaker 3: I actually I like these characters. I care about these characters,
- 12:05Speaker 3: which I think is really hard to do. When the
- 12:08Speaker 3: show says Mal, we're here for Mal and everyone wants
- 12:12Speaker 3: to see mall. You know what I'm saying. And then
- 12:13Speaker 3: that was brought off the jump, I was like, Okay,
- 12:16Speaker 3: we got something good going here. M h.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It's his son, right, not his daughter?
- 12:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sorry I meant uh. And then we got
- 12:24Speaker 3: to get into the death and the patawan Yes but yes, sorry,
- 12:28Speaker 3: he has a lawson, has a son who also plays
- 12:32Speaker 3: an important role. Uh. And for Percy Jackson fans, he's
- 12:35Speaker 3: voiced by Charlie Bushnell. Uh. So there's like a little
- 12:38Speaker 3: bit of crossover here. Okay, you like Percy Jackson. So yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 3: they're introducing Watson and his son and his family. Like
- 12:44Speaker 3: you said, his wife.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Doing lawson.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's Wagner mo.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, my god, that's why he's so good.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yo. He's so good killing killing Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 2: But also, like you said, they also to introduce Devin,
- 13:02Speaker 2: Jedi padawan and.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Her master Master Docky.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, how many times?
- 13:08Speaker 3: You know what's funny about sorry, this is in the
- 13:10Speaker 3: side We're gained. The Twilight As were introduced as this
- 13:14Speaker 3: like alien species. We met them, I believe first time
- 13:17Speaker 3: and return to Jedi as like a slave to Jaba
- 13:20Speaker 3: the Hut, And it's so funny if you think about
- 13:23Speaker 3: like how they were introduced and they were kind of
- 13:25Speaker 3: fireclock I mean, cannon changes constants. I don't even know
- 13:28Speaker 3: if this is still canon, but how the whole species
- 13:31Speaker 3: was considered like used as slaves as that oh wow, entertainment. Uh.
- 13:36Speaker 3: And now here we are like they're they're Jedi. There's
- 13:39Speaker 3: numerous Twilight Jedi. There's like, it's such an interesting evolution
- 13:44Speaker 3: of these species, and now they're one of the main
- 13:47Speaker 3: Jedi Padawan characters of this new series. I think it's funny.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's basically always trying to fix George George
- 13:53Speaker 2: Lucas's inherent racism.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Oh that where we're going.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I mean it's all you know, look like you said,
- 14:02Speaker 2: you're an old school Star Wars fan. For me, Star
- 14:05Speaker 2: Wars pretty much defined my early life, Like you know,
- 14:08Speaker 2: I saw you know, not seventy seven in theaters. But
- 14:11Speaker 2: I saw the early wins of theaters as a like.
- 14:14Speaker 2: My sister told the story that they took me to
- 14:17Speaker 2: see Empire and I was a toddler who didn't say
- 14:21Speaker 2: a word, and then I saw the movie and when
- 14:23Speaker 2: to shut the fuck up. So and all my early
- 14:27Speaker 2: memories of all around Star Wars. The reason why I
- 14:29Speaker 2: wanted to be a film director was because of Star Wars,
- 14:33Speaker 2: just et cetera. You know, George Lucas was my idol
- 14:35Speaker 2: as a kid, on and on and on down the line.
- 14:38Speaker 2: But at the same time, I also saw Fan of
- 14:40Speaker 2: medicin theaters and it's like, yo, fam, I mean, jeorn
- 14:44Speaker 2: Jars one thing, but the Trade Federation is another. The
- 14:53Speaker 2: so you had to recognize when a person has faults,
- 14:56Speaker 2: you know, just like the same way I recognized that
- 14:59Speaker 2: he Jackson and The Lord of the Range. I'll never
- 15:02Speaker 2: forget one time I was sitting there watching that with
- 15:04Speaker 2: a young woman and she was like, you know, only
- 15:08Speaker 2: black people in this movie are at the orcs, and
- 15:10Speaker 2: I saying, oh god, you know, and it was like
- 15:14Speaker 2: my favorite movie, you know, she said that, and I
- 15:17Speaker 2: just and you can't unsee it not unsee it, you know,
- 15:22Speaker 2: you cannot see it.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And it's like those it's still those might be.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I mean, it's up there with Captain America, but it's
- 15:28Speaker 2: one of my favorite trilogies of all time to this day.
- 15:31Speaker 1: But you know it still hurts and yeah, yeah, and
- 15:38Speaker 1: I know.
- 15:38Speaker 3: We're getting distracted, but I think what you're saying is
- 15:40Speaker 3: exactly right. As fans where we live in the era
- 15:42Speaker 3: where you say one day, like as as we as
- 15:45Speaker 3: critics journalists, we say something with a critical eye, people
- 15:50Speaker 3: are like, you don't like your hater, you know, and
- 15:53Speaker 3: it's like the reality is you it's okay to call
- 15:57Speaker 3: out and identify and a story is flawed and blind,
- 16:01Speaker 3: blind sides and so and so enjoy it.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:05Speaker 3: We can love Star Wars and we could say, yeah, hey,
- 16:07Speaker 3: that's kind of messed up that the pneoidians look like
- 16:10Speaker 3: are like present as old Asian dudes. That's talking to me,
- 16:15Speaker 3: like old Asian dudes.
- 16:17Speaker 1: That's like the worst, you know, idea of what an
- 16:21Speaker 1: old Asian dude would be.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Like why do they have broken English?
- 16:24Speaker 4: I just said, it doesn't make any sense, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 4: And it's like you can even go back to Yoda
- 16:30Speaker 4: and and say that the way you know syntaxis it
- 16:33Speaker 4: makes no sense, like you know.
- 16:35Speaker 3: And that's fine.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It's like years old. It just cannot figure it.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Out exactly, Like you can't ask like English like or
- 16:45Speaker 3: based or what is basic or what you know it's like.
- 16:48Speaker 3: But that's okay, that's like it's not as then we're
- 16:51Speaker 3: giving it a past. It's okay to call it out
- 16:53Speaker 3: and still be able to say we enjoy Star Wars. Uh.
- 16:56Speaker 3: My friend once told me, he's like, you know what,
- 16:58Speaker 3: Star Wars is the biggest Asian appropriation and I'm like, yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 3: I know. George Lucas made no secret he took from
- 17:06Speaker 3: Kurusawa and you know, borrowed heavily from his aesthetics and
- 17:11Speaker 3: almost you know, tried to cast you know, Asians as
- 17:14Speaker 3: Darth Vader as Obi Wan Kenobi as you know, but
- 17:17Speaker 3: it didn't work out. And actually later he funded Kruisawa's films.
- 17:21Speaker 3: So it's like, you know, there's like a checker pass
- 17:24Speaker 3: and that's that's just the reality. That's okay.
- 17:26Speaker 2: That being said, this is continuing in the tradition of
- 17:30Speaker 2: Clone Wars rebels. And one thing I want to say
- 17:33Speaker 2: is like I wasn't clone Wars and Rebels animation saw
- 17:36Speaker 2: grow on me.
- 17:37Speaker 1: This animation in this is top notch. And I don't
- 17:43Speaker 1: want to.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Get Tuzu draft, but I was not one of those
- 17:45Speaker 2: people where you complaining about this season of Invincibles animation level,
- 17:48Speaker 2: and then this came out and I'm like, I get it,
- 17:51Speaker 2: you know, like when you compare him, it's no comparison.
- 17:55Speaker 1: But back to this, this is beautiful one. The fights
- 18:01Speaker 1: are just.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Butletic, operatic, everything you need from a lightsaber battle. And
- 18:09Speaker 2: beyond that, there's real emotion because they really got me
- 18:13Speaker 2: to care about Daky, about Devin, about mall Mal is
- 18:18Speaker 2: already one of my favorite characters. But like I said,
- 18:20Speaker 2: I know he's gonna survive this, but at the same time,
- 18:23Speaker 2: just the fact that he's in danger and like youve
- 18:25Speaker 2: knowough you know you just survived, you can know you
- 18:27Speaker 2: can still get fed up. And when these fights are
- 18:31Speaker 2: going down, like it's just it's so well done, so beautiful,
- 18:35Speaker 2: and like I say, that's the difference to me. Why
- 18:37Speaker 2: it matters so much is when you have emotion, when
- 18:40Speaker 2: you're caring about these characters they get into these fights,
- 18:43Speaker 2: it matters. It's not just people swinging lightsabers around.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I couldn't agree more. The drama and the emotional
- 18:50Speaker 3: weight is is really present in this in this series.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And yeah, and to your point, it looks it does
- 18:56Speaker 3: look gorgeous, Like the set pieces are just so beautifully
- 18:59Speaker 3: rendered that a lot of times they almost look live action,
- 19:02Speaker 3: like I had to sit there and just be close
- 19:04Speaker 3: to the screen to like, oh, my goodness, this looks
- 19:06Speaker 3: so like almost like I could touch it. And I agree.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I think the Clone Wars look that was two thousand
- 19:11Speaker 3: and eight a long time when nearly twenty years ago,
- 19:13Speaker 3: and Clone Wars had a very unique animation style worked
- 19:16Speaker 3: for some didn't work for others. I think Rebels kind
- 19:18Speaker 3: of cleaned it up a little bit. And to me,
- 19:20Speaker 3: this is like this show is like the culmination. Yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 3: everything they've learned, all the technology they've developed. And also
- 19:27Speaker 3: for Sam Whitword, even his voice. I think when he
- 19:30Speaker 3: first voiced Mall was a little bit it was different,
- 19:33Speaker 3: but it was kind of hard for me to get
- 19:35Speaker 3: used to in Clone Wars, and here I feel like
- 19:38Speaker 3: he is fully embracing and making the character his own.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I'd have to go back to the
- 19:43Speaker 2: original Clone Wars to see how I felt about it.
- 19:45Speaker 2: But I remember halfway through it once, you know, when
- 19:50Speaker 2: they started, when he started getting the legs and doing
- 19:52Speaker 2: everything through with his brother, I was just like, yo,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I didn't know Sam's name, but he'd already just got me. So,
- 20:01Speaker 2: you know, Darth Maul had become such a favorite character me.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I was talking with one of my brother like Salvage oppressed,
- 20:08Speaker 2: like how that shit goes down with the Emperor is some.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Of the like oh my god, and this man did
- 20:15Speaker 1: a break.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You know, like no he cannot. So yeah, this is
- 20:20Speaker 2: definitely some of Sam's best work as Mall. I think
- 20:23Speaker 2: he's been killing it for the last you know, five
- 20:25Speaker 2: to ten years whatever, but he is definitely doing amazing work.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Like yeah, his turning rebels, oh man, that's that's some
- 20:34Speaker 2: of the best stuff he's done.
- 20:35Speaker 1: But this is right up there with it.
- 20:36Speaker 3: For those who don't know Sam started in I believe
- 20:39Speaker 3: he started in the Star Wars universe as the Force
- 20:41Speaker 3: Unleashed main character, which was a video game okay that
- 20:44Speaker 3: came out, Yeah, it came out. I believe around Clone
- 20:47Speaker 3: War's time, a little bit before the Force and Leashed
- 20:50Speaker 3: video games that there was a sequel as well. The
- 20:53Speaker 3: character looks just like him, he's got two savors he was.
- 20:55Speaker 3: That's a dope character too, And that game was real fine.
- 20:58Speaker 3: It was like really exactly Reinforce powers. It was really cool.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And he's so he's really lives and breathed, the breathes
- 21:06Speaker 3: this uh this ike he loves and it was really
- 21:10Speaker 3: cool to see him really get the spotlight here.
- 21:12Speaker 2: And then, like we said, they also introduced Devon, or
- 21:15Speaker 2: the Padawan Devon, who's played by Gideon Adlon. I don't
- 21:20Speaker 2: know them, but they do a fantastic job, both them
- 21:25Speaker 2: and The Jedi Master. It's like we've seen this story
- 21:29Speaker 2: so many times, you know. And that's another thing when
- 21:31Speaker 2: you've seen this so many times.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Like oh man, all right, here we go again.
- 21:35Speaker 2: That I honestly, that's how I felt when they first
- 21:37Speaker 2: introduced him. I'm like, oh God, here's a padawan in
- 21:40Speaker 2: the Jedi Master.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But they quickly grew on me. And it's crazy too
- 21:47Speaker 1: because it's like another Twilight Jedi patawan. Yeah. I haven't
- 21:51Speaker 1: seen this before, but she's such a different character in
- 21:56Speaker 1: ah Soka.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Right away, Devin just grows on me as the series
- 22:00Speaker 2: goes on, I can't wait. They've already announced season two
- 22:04Speaker 2: of is I can't wait to see where they.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Go with them. It's I mean, they got me.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You know, there's not much more I could say, you know,
- 22:11Speaker 2: at least as far as the characters.
- 22:12Speaker 1: They did that.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Like the characters, the animation everyone from two Boots. Two
- 22:17Speaker 2: Boots is a droid who works with Losson, and he's
- 22:21Speaker 2: another in the line of great droids, you know, K
- 22:24Speaker 2: two S or two D two whoever you want to
- 22:27Speaker 2: put him with. Two Boots is another one because two Boots,
- 22:31Speaker 2: like I really l f with two Boats.
- 22:33Speaker 1: For his personality, you know, he's he made some choices.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Oh god, you know that's something.
- 22:41Speaker 1: But it's like I really, you know, kind of I
- 22:45Speaker 1: didn't agree with his choices, but I understood his choices.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what's interesting about that dynamic? So two
- 22:52Speaker 3: Boots is basically like whatever Losson's joid, right, like partner
- 23:01Speaker 3: slash droid yeap. And what's interesting about that is and
- 23:05Speaker 3: this is what to me it made Star Wars great.
- 23:07Speaker 3: There is like the implied history between the two that's
- 23:11Speaker 3: hinted a and you know, there's this like Lawson has
- 23:14Speaker 3: this genuine love and loyalty to Two Boots, but we
- 23:17Speaker 3: don't know why we don't. It's not spoon stead to us, like, oh,
- 23:20Speaker 3: here is why they saved his life probably, and here's
- 23:23Speaker 3: this is we don't need we just we just know
- 23:26Speaker 3: he has this undying loyalty to Two Boots and the
- 23:29Speaker 3: two have a history. They know that the son knows him.
- 23:32Speaker 3: He says he grew up with them. Like there's all
- 23:33Speaker 3: these this like this lived in universe feel that stuff
- 23:38Speaker 3: has happened before we're watching, and that's okay, there's a
- 23:41Speaker 3: there's a past. We don't have to have it all
- 23:43Speaker 3: spoon fed to us. I love that it's like this
- 23:45Speaker 3: old existing universe that we're just being dropped into in
- 23:48Speaker 3: the middle.
- 23:49Speaker 2: And that's how the the best of Star Wars always was.
- 23:52Speaker 2: That's you know, people for years wondered about things that
- 23:55Speaker 2: Luke said in the first.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Film that we're never really explained, and that's just what
- 24:00Speaker 1: made it great.
- 24:01Speaker 2: That's I mean, as a kid, that's what drove my
- 24:03Speaker 2: imagination and that's what I loved.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I always love coma books or.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Movies, anything that had that lived in field, books, whatever,
- 24:12Speaker 2: where it's just like, oh and they mentioned some incident
- 24:15Speaker 2: from the past and you could just imagine how cool
- 24:18Speaker 2: that story was, and if you had a great imagination,
- 24:20Speaker 2: you would tell the whole story about it. So that
- 24:22Speaker 2: was very great in the same way, like you said,
- 24:24Speaker 2: like Lawson has a.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Whole ast, a whole life, and.
- 24:29Speaker 2: It's slowly introduced where you're starting to understand everything about them.
- 24:33Speaker 2: And it's the same thing to me where what made
- 24:35Speaker 2: and Or so great because it really humanized these characters
- 24:39Speaker 2: and it really makes you understand what it is they're
- 24:41Speaker 2: living in when they're living under the Buddha fascism. And
- 24:45Speaker 2: that's one thing that I really want to talk about
- 24:48Speaker 2: or mention real quick because we've been having I guess
- 24:53Speaker 2: debate on fall Nerds. I've been making a few videos
- 24:57Speaker 2: where the idea of centrism keeps coming up and how
- 25:01Speaker 2: people seem to take that cibber like, yeah, being in
- 25:04Speaker 2: centrince isn't a bad idea. You know, there's bad on
- 25:06Speaker 2: both sides. And it's really interesting to me because I'm
- 25:09Speaker 2: probably gonna have to make another video about this. I've
- 25:11Speaker 2: been thinking about this concept for a while. How when
- 25:14Speaker 2: you watch Gi Joe and they shoot Cobra, you know,
- 25:17Speaker 2: no one's like oh man, why are they shooting Cobra?
- 25:19Speaker 2: You know, and this when they're murdering stormtroopers left and right,
- 25:22Speaker 2: No one's like, oh man, you know, there might be
- 25:25Speaker 2: some good guys on those stormtroopers. You know what about Finn,
- 25:28Speaker 2: It's like, well Finn got away, you know the rest
- 25:30Speaker 2: of that shot. And it seems to be for people.
- 25:33Speaker 2: It seems to be easy for people to grasp that concept.
- 25:36Speaker 2: You know, we watch all these different shows, all these
- 25:38Speaker 2: different days. I could give you too many examples where
- 25:41Speaker 2: people don't both sides stings. But then when it comes
- 25:45Speaker 2: to real life, people both sides things. And I don't
- 25:50Speaker 2: understand that fascism is fascism. You know, whether it's a
- 25:53Speaker 2: story or it's your life, it's still fashion them.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, that's called motherfucking bunts and niggaking nothing about that.
- 26:00Speaker 1: And if someone chooses to put on the uniform of
- 26:03Speaker 1: a fascist.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Preacher preach it, what happens happens. To your point, I
- 26:17Speaker 3: think there's there's nothing that is gonna fit this conversation
- 26:24Speaker 3: more than Star Wars, right, because the thing that has
- 26:27Speaker 3: blown my mind over the last several years, especially since
- 26:32Speaker 3: the sequel trilogy, but before that frankly is how people
- 26:36Speaker 3: will love Star Wars say, oh, you know they're wearing
- 26:39Speaker 3: the rebel and Segnia. They're all about, you know, fight
- 26:42Speaker 3: the Empire, and yet in their everyday lives and not
- 26:46Speaker 3: see that they're their support and their actions fall in
- 26:50Speaker 3: line with much closer to the Empire and what they
- 26:53Speaker 3: were doing. And it's like, how can you not see this?
- 26:57Speaker 3: How do you not see that your might makes right
- 27:00Speaker 3: view of the world and any means necessary and you know,
- 27:05Speaker 3: power and military might. That's not what the rebels were saying.
- 27:11Speaker 3: That's not what Luke Skywalker and Hans Solo and Princess Leia,
- 27:15Speaker 3: that's not their side. But they It's like wild to me,
- 27:19Speaker 3: how these people can't how they can't get it.
- 27:21Speaker 2: It's interesting because people always it's like the whole thing
- 27:25Speaker 2: with Nick Cannon and the Democratic and Republican Party, right,
- 27:29Speaker 2: because the original Star Wars is based on the Empire
- 27:32Speaker 2: represents America straight uprom down, you know, and they were
- 27:35Speaker 2: fighting against a rebel alliance who represented Vietnam a time,
- 27:39Speaker 2: because that's whe George Lucas had come from, and he'd
- 27:42Speaker 2: seen how America and evil Empire had attacked a much
- 27:45Speaker 2: smaller nation who had to use rebels and rebel tactics
- 27:48Speaker 2: to beat against an empire force. And then in Phantom Menace,
- 27:54Speaker 2: he flips the script and he's showing that the America
- 27:58Speaker 2: is represented by the Galactic whatever they were called, and
- 28:04Speaker 2: they just slow the Republic and they slowly slip into
- 28:07Speaker 2: fascism with because they're basically not paying attention. And that's
- 28:11Speaker 2: what George was palling out, and he was seeing it
- 28:14Speaker 2: before it happened in our country, or as it was happening,
- 28:17Speaker 2: because this has been a long process to get to
- 28:19Speaker 2: where we are today.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And so people, you know, conflate the two. So they're like, oh, no,
- 28:24Speaker 1: see the Empire is America in this one, and then
- 28:27Speaker 1: they're like, oh no, in the Phantom Menace, the Empire
- 28:30Speaker 1: is still America, and it's like no, no, no, you're
- 28:32Speaker 1: missing the point. You know.
- 28:33Speaker 2: It's like the story is a metaphor that's being told
- 28:37Speaker 2: two different ways. It's two different stories, two different metaphors,
- 28:40Speaker 2: and that's where people get it twisted. And that's why
- 28:42Speaker 2: when they you know, or that's one of the reasons.
- 28:44Speaker 2: And I think the other reason is what I said,
- 28:46Speaker 2: people cannot seem to take away you know, they can't
- 28:50Speaker 2: transfer what they see in fiction to reality. You know,
- 28:54Speaker 2: they're like, no, there's and I get it, because there's humans,
- 28:58Speaker 2: you know, and down of all people you might know,
- 29:01Speaker 2: you know, and most of the time for a lot
- 29:03Speaker 2: of y'all, it is people you know, like you know,
- 29:08Speaker 2: if you're white, I'm sorry, it's a lot of white
- 29:09Speaker 2: you know, even if you're black, whatever, But you know
- 29:12Speaker 2: what I mean, it's going to be a lot more.
- 29:13Speaker 1: People, you know, people who look like you, et cetera.
- 29:17Speaker 2: And so it's not as easy when you're you know,
- 29:19Speaker 2: shooting at a nameless storm.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Trooper, right, and when your own safety and comfort is
- 29:25Speaker 3: involved and we're getting done, and this is this could
- 29:27Speaker 3: be its own episode honestly, imperialism themes in Star Wars
- 29:31Speaker 3: and our favorite I mean, listen, we might have to
- 29:35Speaker 3: come back to this. Yes, I love it. I mean,
- 29:37Speaker 3: it's full down and we need another, you know.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But all I come.
- 29:40Speaker 3: To the conclusion recently is like too many people are
- 29:44Speaker 3: too dumb to understand analogies and they cannot understand them.
- 29:49Speaker 2: And then the other one for me though, is like,
- 29:51Speaker 2: even like I said, with and Or, when and Or
- 29:53Speaker 2: is my favorite show of all time. But I also
- 29:55Speaker 2: have this and I wish I've gotten the top to
- 29:58Speaker 2: I talked to.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Gilbroy very briefly.
- 30:00Speaker 2: One thing I wanted to distress with them and one
- 30:03Speaker 2: issue I do have with and or in any show
- 30:06Speaker 2: that shows revolutionist I feel like it allows people to.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Experience it from the comfort.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Of their own homes and like, well, somebody else will
- 30:13Speaker 2: do it then, right, you know, someone else is going
- 30:15Speaker 2: to be Cassie. And because I I don't, you know,
- 30:18Speaker 2: I'm good on being Cassian, you know.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Because you see what it takes to be that, and
- 30:22Speaker 1: it takes a lot, you know. And so that's one
- 30:25Speaker 1: thing I have.
- 30:26Speaker 2: But I also think that at the same time, that
- 30:29Speaker 2: show will help create the Cassians because it will show
- 30:33Speaker 2: people this is what it takes, and someone will be like, well,
- 30:35Speaker 2: then fuck it, this is what it takes.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Hey, we need it, we need it. And to tie
- 30:41Speaker 3: it back to just so we can be on topic,
- 30:44Speaker 3: even to this show, Maul was dark Mall. He was
- 30:49Speaker 3: the apprentice, the set apprentice. He was the number two
- 30:52Speaker 3: of all evil in the galaxy, right, and here we
- 30:55Speaker 3: see he's not like someone heroic, he's not someone like Cassie,
- 31:00Speaker 3: but he has no choice because of all that, it's
- 31:03Speaker 3: cost him all and it's hurt him. He has no
- 31:05Speaker 3: choice but to want to fight the Empire. At this stage,
- 31:08Speaker 3: he's not even a hero. It's just he's not one
- 31:11Speaker 3: of the empires. So he needs to fight it. He
- 31:13Speaker 3: hates capa team for what has happened to him. And
- 31:16Speaker 3: so it's not even a hero story. It just showed
- 31:18Speaker 3: when you when you were dealing with fascism, you know,
- 31:22Speaker 3: and on a whatever galactic scale. Here it's like there
- 31:25Speaker 3: are victims all over and here he's one. And then
- 31:29Speaker 3: now and then we see the Jedi, you know, Master Docky, who,
- 31:32Speaker 3: by the way, voiced by Dennis Haisberg, who is like
- 31:34Speaker 3: the President in the show twenty four, so good.
- 31:38Speaker 1: His voice is so good as Master Docy is so good.
- 31:42Speaker 3: I love it. And so yeah, so we see the
- 31:44Speaker 3: Jedi and his padawan after Order sixty six, and so
- 31:47Speaker 3: those are true heroes who were victimized and manipulated. And
- 31:51Speaker 3: so we see the two dichotomy and it's not a
- 31:53Speaker 3: centrist view. It's hears the imperials and here is our
- 31:58Speaker 3: potential fallouts from different perspects.
- 32:00Speaker 2: This that is such a great take Ron And because
- 32:03Speaker 2: It's like we also get the perspective of losson and
- 32:06Speaker 2: someone who is working in an empire adjacent capacity and
- 32:11Speaker 2: to most citizens is going to be viewed as the cop.
- 32:14Speaker 1: You know, as the ops. But he sees the Empire
- 32:17Speaker 1: as the ops.
- 32:19Speaker 2: So you know, even him being an op, he's like,
- 32:22Speaker 2: I still got ops out here too. So that is
- 32:25Speaker 2: really great because I feel like this show is showing
- 32:27Speaker 2: you three different perspectives and all of them are pretty
- 32:30Speaker 2: much against the Empire, but they all have conflict with
- 32:33Speaker 2: each other as well. Because when Lawson first meets even
- 32:37Speaker 2: the Jedi, even though you know, we learn you know,
- 32:39Speaker 2: you might it's you know, it's a good cop.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I guess I'm But he has.
- 32:47Speaker 3: To deal with that too. He has to come face
- 32:49Speaker 3: to what that means with the security force, the cops.
- 32:53Speaker 3: When you're part of the police, with the police, and
- 32:56Speaker 3: then something happens that maybe the police doesn't like. Well,
- 33:00Speaker 3: now he has to come to pay to terms with
- 33:01Speaker 3: what that means for him and his family.
- 33:03Speaker 2: I bring this pulled up every time on the wire.
- 33:06Speaker 2: You wanted to be in the game. Now you're in
- 33:09Speaker 2: the game.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Oh he's in the game.
- 33:14Speaker 2: You know, he thought he was in the game, but
- 33:16Speaker 2: now he learns what the game is really about, and
- 33:20Speaker 2: that is like like Darth Maul learned what the game
- 33:23Speaker 2: was really about her. Oh my god, Oh Jesus, that
- 33:32Speaker 2: man has been through it.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Y'all.
- 33:34Speaker 2: If you have not seen Clone Wars or anydose series,
- 33:37Speaker 2: I advise you to watch them. I don't know if
- 33:39Speaker 2: i'd say watched Rebels before this, you can because like
- 33:42Speaker 2: I say, you know that, you know eventually Darth Maul
- 33:45Speaker 2: dies spoilers, spoilers, like everyone, he's not immortal. He might
- 33:50Speaker 2: seem like it, but he is not. So I wouldn't
- 33:54Speaker 2: say you don't have you know, you can't. You can't
- 33:56Speaker 2: watch that, and it's excellent and it will.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Just give you a raider appreciation because even though you're
- 34:02Speaker 1: brought up to speed within these eight episodes, when you're
- 34:06Speaker 1: brought up to speed, I'm sitting there like cause it,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you know, made me reflect on his long.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Journey and I'm like, yeah, this man, Jesus dog. Every
- 34:15Speaker 2: time you think he's getting somewhere, another l you know. So,
- 34:21Speaker 2: But yeah, long story short, I really enjoyed the first eight.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I was tight, like I didn't even know that there
- 34:28Speaker 1: was just the first eight.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I thought this was the end of the first season,
- 34:33Speaker 2: and when the eighth episode ended, I even messaged.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Around, like yo, what some of that? Like that didn't
- 34:39Speaker 1: feel like the end of a season.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Dog, you know this shit was great and then it's
- 34:43Speaker 2: just like that's it, and no, there's still two more episodes.
- 34:46Speaker 2: I'm not sure why Disney didn't send out those two
- 34:49Speaker 2: if you know, maybe the cameos, maybe there's something big
- 34:53Speaker 2: happened to them.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I don't know, but I loved these first eight. You know,
- 34:58Speaker 1: this is I didn't watch bad.
- 35:00Speaker 2: That's like that I did, you know, I've been watching
- 35:02Speaker 2: all the live action and or Skeleton Crew are two
- 35:06Speaker 2: of my favorite recent Star Wars properties in a long time,
- 35:10Speaker 2: but this is definitely my favorite animation from them.
- 35:13Speaker 1: In a minute.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I watched some of the episodes of that. I don't
- 35:16Speaker 2: remember the name of the anthology series. They had Visions
- 35:19Speaker 2: Visions Fire, the other joint they had with the younger
- 35:23Speaker 2: Soka that was pretty dope.
- 35:26Speaker 3: But was that Underworld or is that a different one?
- 35:29Speaker 2: It was split because it was like between a SOA
- 35:32Speaker 2: the Tales of something.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and that was cool. But this is it, man,
- 35:37Speaker 1: This has been my favorite.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I can't wait to see these last two and I
- 35:41Speaker 2: really can't wait for season two, like straight up yeah.
- 35:45Speaker 3: And already already green lit, which shows that they have
- 35:47Speaker 3: confidence in it, and I agree with you, like, uh,
- 35:50Speaker 3: it really is some of the best Star Wars who've
- 35:52Speaker 3: gone in years, and it's like one through the first
- 35:57Speaker 3: eight episodes, I give it like an AA plus. Thing
- 36:00Speaker 3: is they did withhold the last two. And I've been
- 36:03Speaker 3: burned by some shows where we've seen a portion of
- 36:06Speaker 3: something and I was like, it's that's fire and then
- 36:08Speaker 3: like it just falls apart, you know, or it just
- 36:12Speaker 3: isn't doesn't land, and it's hard to land an ending.
- 36:14Speaker 3: So I will reserve my full, full judgment our reviews.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Probably when this drops, our views will be up, you know,
- 36:20Speaker 3: because the embargo lifts soon when the show comes out
- 36:23Speaker 3: tomorrow on the sixth. But and so I'm gonna get
- 36:26Speaker 3: it's a very strong review. But there is a small
- 36:28Speaker 3: part of me that's like I just I wish that.
- 36:30Speaker 3: But this is how Lucasfilm and Star Wars does right.
- 36:32Speaker 3: It's the day j Abras mystery Box idea where and
- 36:35Speaker 3: Filoni too has been very careful of like hi, if
- 36:38Speaker 3: there's any studio that tries to hide its secrets is Lucasfilm.
- 36:43Speaker 3: They are very, very protective and so yeah, I agree
- 36:46Speaker 3: with you. I think there's gonna be some big reveals
- 36:48Speaker 3: in the last two episodes, and I'm glad where you know,
- 36:51Speaker 3: there's another season so that we don't have to worry like, oh,
- 36:53Speaker 3: it's better get you know, wrapped up. But one the way, incredible,
- 36:58Speaker 3: absolutely top tier.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, like absolutely top tier. I need to watch
- 37:02Speaker 2: it again. The one thing I really didn't notice was
- 37:04Speaker 2: the music.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I'm not sure. Okay, I didn't really notice the score.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I'm sure it was good because I didn't notice it,
- 37:11Speaker 2: but it wasn't something where I was like, oh I
- 37:13Speaker 2: remember that song or that moment, you know with the music.
- 37:16Speaker 2: It was just like you said, the set pieces are incredible.
- 37:20Speaker 2: There is this bridge tunnel train fight that is whoa
- 37:26Speaker 2: man just wait for y'all. That shit is so epic.
- 37:29Speaker 1: There's a few, there's a few like really great lightsaber fights. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: moment because minus oh so good.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Yeah, we see inquisitors. That's not a spoiler because they
- 37:44Speaker 3: were in the trailer, so we see inquisitors. We do
- 37:47Speaker 3: get lightsaber fights. We you know, we have a Jedi
- 37:50Speaker 3: and Padawan. So there are some epic epic they don't
- 37:52Speaker 3: hold hold back, which I appreciate because sometimes they try
- 37:55Speaker 3: to hold it back to the end, but this one
- 37:57Speaker 3: they they early and often, and that's awesome.
- 38:01Speaker 2: One last thing this time I had to google this
- 38:03Speaker 2: because as you mentioned the Inquisitors, as I'm watching it,
- 38:06Speaker 2: I had to google. I've had this thought before, I
- 38:08Speaker 2: think when I was playing what was that the latest
- 38:12Speaker 2: Star Wars game, the first one. I haven't played the
- 38:14Speaker 2: sequel to it, but the latest one featured the Inquisitors.
- 38:17Speaker 2: It featured a lot of sisters and everything, and the.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Rule of two.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what my Google's led me to is that
- 38:32Speaker 2: it's kind of played loose, and even Lucas broke it
- 38:35Speaker 2: before it came to being. But what most people say
- 38:38Speaker 2: is that the Ruler two was established by Darth Vane
- 38:41Speaker 2: in the time when the Sith needed to hide and
- 38:44Speaker 2: when there was too many of them.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Because this is so weird to me.
- 38:47Speaker 2: The dark Side of the Force is limited by a
- 38:50Speaker 2: de amount of people who use it. It's like wi Fi.
- 38:53Speaker 2: You know, if you got a thousand people on your WiFi,
- 38:55Speaker 2: that's you go mad slow. So if you got a
- 38:57Speaker 2: thousand sith on your WiFi, you ain't getting no juice.
- 39:00Speaker 2: So he murdered all the thousand so it was just
- 39:02Speaker 2: two of him, so he could have all the juice,
- 39:04Speaker 2: and then his apprentice would want the juice and then
- 39:07Speaker 2: eventually kill him and get the juice.
- 39:09Speaker 3: It's right, And I think I actually hadn't heard of that.
- 39:13Speaker 3: That's that's interesting. I make that'd be interesting. I do
- 39:15Speaker 3: know that in the like again canon with Star Wars
- 39:18Speaker 3: always changing, the Darth game had a really good book
- 39:21Speaker 3: that I don't think it's cannon anymore. But the idea too,
- 39:24Speaker 3: on top of what you said, is that they were evil,
- 39:26Speaker 3: so they were like killing each other and there was
- 39:28Speaker 3: a massive sith war and then so that that's how
- 39:31Speaker 3: they decided, hey, we're not doing that anymore, just we're
- 39:34Speaker 3: just fighting amongst each other. But I will say, I
- 39:37Speaker 3: think again the Lucy goosey of it all this, I
- 39:41Speaker 3: think inquisitors are not sith. That idea there is that
- 39:45Speaker 3: they're supposed to be a step below. They're not as powerful.
- 39:48Speaker 3: They're never going to be Sith masters. Their power is
- 39:51Speaker 3: being withheld from them.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yes, there it is.
- 39:54Speaker 2: That is what the other side of Reddit and the
- 39:56Speaker 2: Internet was saying, and that's why they used the little
- 39:59Speaker 2: spin lightsabers because they weak, and so they got the
- 40:02Speaker 2: spin joint to make themselves feel good. But they really
- 40:06Speaker 2: can't fight, so that's why they always didn't serve left
- 40:08Speaker 2: and right even though they got the spinny lightsaber.
- 40:11Speaker 3: That's right, they're like the NPCs of the force users. Yeah,
- 40:17Speaker 3: that's right. What's funny is exactly. I remember Felony saying
- 40:20Speaker 3: that when Rebels came out, when we sell the first Inquizard,
- 40:22Speaker 3: that they had the spinny automatic spinner because they he
- 40:25Speaker 3: can't do it like Mall can was like almost the
- 40:28Speaker 3: originator of that and being able to do it naturally
- 40:31Speaker 3: using force abilities. And so now we get to see
- 40:33Speaker 3: these carbon copies, these fake we want of these with
- 40:37Speaker 3: the o G with the guy who brought it the
- 40:40Speaker 3: double sided saber.
- 40:41Speaker 1: That is so great. That is yeah, that is great.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure he ever calls them one to bees.
- 40:48Speaker 1: He should frauds, you know.
- 40:54Speaker 3: So should should we should Mall sith clash talk. We
- 40:58Speaker 3: need some more trash talk.
- 40:59Speaker 2: We definitely do. That's one thing I'll say. I won't
- 41:02Speaker 2: take away a letter grade from it, but I need more.
- 41:05Speaker 2: You know, he's slick with his mouth, but he don't
- 41:08Speaker 2: really have trash talk as much.
- 41:09Speaker 1: You know.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, overall I have to say, just like you, I
- 41:13Speaker 2: give this a A plus. I'll withhold the A plus
- 41:17Speaker 2: until I see the last two episodes that I really
- 41:19Speaker 2: need to see how it sticks to landing, But overall,
- 41:24Speaker 2: definitely A at the very least.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Dame. The last thing I'll say is this show
- 41:30Speaker 3: to me is the full, not the full, but really
- 41:34Speaker 3: the air to a canceled series that was originated by
- 41:39Speaker 3: George Lucas before he sold, called Underworld, where he had
- 41:43Speaker 3: planned in addition to Clone Wars and animated series, he
- 41:46Speaker 3: had planned a brand new live action series that was
- 41:50Speaker 3: gonna be about the Star Wars Underworld in Courton, and
- 41:54Speaker 3: he hired all these top tier writers to write scripts.
- 41:59Speaker 3: They wrote fifty scripts at Lucasfilm. They had the guy
- 42:03Speaker 3: who was the show runner for Battlestar Galactica. He was
- 42:06Speaker 3: supposed to come and help produce it, and they just
- 42:09Speaker 3: ultimately canceled because it's way too expensive. It's kind of
- 42:11Speaker 3: like the Disney Plus shows are getting now. And to me,
- 42:14Speaker 3: when I was watching this show, I mean, it's been
- 42:15Speaker 3: seated through a lot of different shows like and or,
- 42:18Speaker 3: like you had mentioned, but this show was like, oh,
- 42:21Speaker 3: I bet this is so much of what Underworld was
- 42:24Speaker 3: supposed to be way back. This is like two thousand
- 42:26Speaker 3: and eight, thousand and nine.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Well, we're getting into space right now.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I saw you say that, like this might be the
- 42:33Speaker 2: best medium for Star Wars might be animation. I think
- 42:38Speaker 2: for showing you know, Jedi versus Sith fights, this is
- 42:41Speaker 2: definitely it. Like, you can't get as ill as this
- 42:44Speaker 2: with live action people. It's just not gonna happen. So
- 42:47Speaker 2: I remember even back with Tone Boys when they showed
- 42:49Speaker 2: Dooku versus Obi, Oh my god, that shit was so crazy.
- 42:54Speaker 2: He's fighting Obi and Anakin at once. And that's when
- 42:57Speaker 2: I finally like, oh, dook who's dope, you know, because
- 43:00Speaker 2: Christopher Lee, you know the god you know, at that
- 43:03Speaker 2: age you can't do all that shit. You know, you
- 43:05Speaker 2: can't expect them too. So like, no, but yeah, definitely
- 43:09Speaker 2: a near A plus. I need to wait to see
- 43:11Speaker 2: how they sit the landing, but Maul gets my vote.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Y'all should definitely peep it. It'll drop, you know, by
- 43:17Speaker 2: the time you hear this, it'll be probably out, so Matre,
- 43:21Speaker 2: y'all peep it. We'll be back to talk about more
- 43:24Speaker 2: Ron anything else before you get out of here.
- 43:27Speaker 3: No, thanks for inviting me on. It's been great chatting
- 43:30Speaker 3: with you about this. It's been a while and it's
- 43:32Speaker 3: fun that we get to be genuinely excited about something.
- 43:34Speaker 3: So I'm hoping we get more of that. We got
- 43:36Speaker 3: more Star Wars coming, uh, you know, with with with
- 43:39Speaker 3: Mandorin and grogrou later this year. We got you know,
- 43:42Speaker 3: obviously a bunch of Marble stuff coming, so it's fun
- 43:44Speaker 3: to be real excited this year. It's a big year
- 43:46Speaker 3: for being a geek.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it definitely is, and it looks like a lot
- 43:50Speaker 2: of good stuff, you know, Like so far it's been
- 43:52Speaker 2: pretty solid. Dare Devil's out right now, we've been reviewing that.
- 43:56Speaker 2: More to come on that, of course, Star Wars.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Supergirl.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I'm super hyph Supergirl, I cannot lie. That's one of
- 44:04Speaker 2: my favorite books. The Tom King Woman of Tomorrow is
- 44:08Speaker 2: such a dope story and the latest trailer just makes
- 44:11Speaker 2: me like, oh, they're just adapting it straight up and down,
- 44:13Speaker 2: So I can't wait for that. Then you got what
- 44:17Speaker 2: he called coming later on the year.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Play face, it's you know, it's and that's lanterns, lanterns,
- 44:24Speaker 1: and then I mean we haven't even mentioned doomsday, like yeah, oh.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's what I'm saying. Yeah, Dune three,
- 44:34Speaker 2: it's it's a lot. And you know, I'm sure we're
- 44:37Speaker 2: missing i mean masters in the universe.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that.
- 44:46Speaker 1: We are doing so well.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Hey, what's up?
