- 0:57SPEAKER_04: Alright, mate?
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, how are you doing?
- 0:59SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 0:59SPEAKER_04: Alright, alright.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: And joining us to complete three in the middle crew, Mark Skip Boyd, who boasts Newcastle United, Port Vale, and again Carl United amongst some of his former clubs.
- 1:10SPEAKER_04: How are we doing, Skip?
- 1:11SPEAKER_05: I'm very well.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: Right, lads, three in the middle.
- 1:14SPEAKER_04: Obviously, the slowest midfield known at the pro game, if we're giving the nod.
- 1:19SPEAKER_04: Dylan's a bit sharp, so we might get away with it if we played in that three.
- 1:24SPEAKER_04: So, how we're feeling?
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: We're looking forward to this new venture.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's good.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Obviously, um when we started speaking about the kind of the idea, I think um it's good for us to kind of sit down over a cup of coffee and speak about football and everything in Collego and um what's happening in football.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:42SPEAKER_03: Sometimes it'll be pints as well, huh?
- 1:44SPEAKER_05: Hopefully.
- 1:46SPEAKER_05: But I'm the same, yeah.
- 1:47SPEAKER_05: I mean, I'm I've been looking forward to it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_05: It was on my mind a lot yesterday, but a little bit nervous now we're here, but a few will settle down.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: Aye, so uh just bear with us, give us a chance, uh it'll get better.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: But so what can you expect as a listener at the three in the middle?
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: So we're hoping to provide weekly podcasts discussing obviously the team where we are based, and just seems to produce talking point after talking point, week after week, and that is Carlisle United.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: We'll also be discussing football in general and giving our views on stories as they happen in the football world, as well as recalling our experiences throughout our careers from managers, players, big matches, grounds we liked and didn't like, academies going into what was the best pathway through these days, agents, some good and some bad.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: Every topic we will cover.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: And we'll have guests joining the pod from time to time to discuss the weekend's action, but also we'll provide special bonus episodes featuring interviews from ex-players, managers, coaches, and even supporters well known in the football world.
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: So does that sound good, lads?
- 2:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah, sounds very good to me.
- 2:51SPEAKER_05: Uh looking forward to discussing all different all different topics.
- 2:55SPEAKER_05: Carl being one of the major talking points, as they always are.
- 2:59SPEAKER_05: Um they're either at the top or the bottom, every in the middle.
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: Have you uh you better have your contact list ready because we need some uh guests in and all.
- 3:07SPEAKER_04: So to our audience, thanks for listening.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: And as I said, bear with us over the first few weeks where we're fine with our feet.
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: But again, it's much appreciated the support we've had already and received.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: And again, keep track of us on Instagram at three in the middle eight and send questions, stories, points of view, anything through our Insta or our email, threeinthemidle at yahoo.com.
- 3:28SPEAKER_04: Uh on the email, it's three the word three, not three.
- 3:32SPEAKER_04: So, and a big, big thank you to Moyne and Smith Chartered Accountants based up at Kingstown and Wood Grange Developments, who have sponsored this episode.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: So, thank you to both, as we couldn't do it without this support.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, Darren Moynan up at Kingstown, big Rangers fan, big Quinny in Weatherall, Celtic and Manu.
- 3:53SPEAKER_04: So we'll we'll get touched on that later.
- 3:55SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, we go.
- 3:56SPEAKER_04: How was the weekend?
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: We'll go with Dylan first.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: What you up to?
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: Um well, obviously, I'm I'm over uh Islander now playing, um, signed a short-term deal to January and then just extended it to the summer.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: So um I went a few months without having anything.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: So you've probably seen me kicking about the gym and trying to keep myself taking over down at Pittsburgh.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: Now, when you're in the gym and I'm like looking at the machines and that Dylan's like got a Dylan's got like proper programme doing it, and I'm just walking around going, My gun on that, might go on that.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: I know I had got a few looks to be fair, like when my treadmill was like level 18 or something, doing interval runs, and you've got the old boy beside me like, oh look at this little boy trying to show it.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: But uh yeah, obviously down at Bits Park, trying to keep myself fit and stuff, so it was a difficult few months, um they're kind of unknown of uh football, so good to get back playing in Ireland Northern Ireland, so yeah, it's been it's been decent.
- 4:48SPEAKER_03: I've been nursing a little kind of calf injury the last week, so I never played on Saturday, but um I was over there supporting the lads so um flying flying over kind of midweek, spending a few days there training and playing and then get to fly home to see the family and stuff, yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_03: And Coloray and Law on a top, Coleraine got Will Patch now, haven't they?
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Patch, yeah.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: We played them Boxing Day.
- 5:08SPEAKER_03: So when I signed, um I spoke to like the chief at Zeke and stuff and he was saying like how important the Boxing Day was.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: And I was thinking, well, it was just for the puntners, just to get then the pub and get pissed.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: But um, it's one of them where in Northern Ireland, especially, everybody plays their rivals on Boxing Day, which is good.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: I thought it was really good.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: Um they they really promote it really good.
- 5:27SPEAKER_03: So um yeah, everybody plays their rivals, and I think it gives them a chance to kind of beat home as well, like on Christmas Day instead of travelling.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: So that's a good thing, isn't it?
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so um yeah, we had we had Kill Rain on Boxing Day, beat him 2-0, which was a big result for us.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: It's always um a big fixture for us, so uh yeah, the fans were buzzing.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: Col Rain, Milk Cup.
- 5:47SPEAKER_04: Remember the Milk Cup you used to play when you were younger?
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Did you ever play the Milk Cup?
- 5:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, did you?
- 5:50SPEAKER_04: I was within the castle.
- 5:51SPEAKER_04: Guess who was in my team?
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: Mickey Carrick.
- 5:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Curtis Woodhouse played centre made and then went into the boxing.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: Uh Martin Taylor played centre half six foot five played for Blackburn Rovers, but we uh big hunts, big hunts, is it?
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: No, I was a I was a I was a what's hunts now?
- 6:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm nice.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: I uh no, I was I was like uh yeah, so Mickey Carrick, but he was a year below.
- 6:16SPEAKER_04: But then Aaron Hughes played for one of the Irish teams we played for, and they took him from there.
- 6:23SPEAKER_04: But uh yeah, they I think man Middlesbrough won it, but man knew were there, and man knew.
- 6:29SPEAKER_05: He was the Irish team that was always unbelievable.
- 6:34SPEAKER_05: So that was my first when I signed for Newcastle at 14.
- 6:37SPEAKER_05: My first time meeting the lads was the Milk Cup, so I got on the bus and I didn't know anybody.
- 6:41SPEAKER_05: I was 14.
- 6:42SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, you can imagine what it's like.
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: Mickey Carrick uh put in his book, didn't he?
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: That the Milk Cup experience made him not sign for Newcastle.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: What was it?
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: There's got a lad called Jamie Burt, and he he was he was very well developed for like four.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: Very good player as well, and uh so he was nicking birds and that in coloring tells him and sneaking out and not picking them up in minis and that, and we're all sat there watching, like like you know, not staying up about nine o'clock and that and just getting them up getting uh getting my sleep and all that, and he's off there, gallivanting and that.
- 7:12SPEAKER_04: But yeah, Mickey put it in his uh there was some tournament that though.
- 7:16SPEAKER_05: You got paraded through the streets beforehand and that.
- 7:18SPEAKER_05: And then I'll tell you who played my age was Joe Cole for West Ham.
- 7:22SPEAKER_05: I've seen the seeing him in the flesh.
- 7:24SPEAKER_05: I thought he's something else better than he was.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: He was uh special that is like the same side.
- 7:30SPEAKER_05: We yeah, we had a decent Saturday, didn't we?
- 7:32SPEAKER_05: Together, good, it was good, yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_05: We got uh we got Trent well at the ground um in the in the King Miller.
- 7:37SPEAKER_04: King Miller sweet, Neil, who we're just gonna call Neil McIntyre Wagner now, because if if if it wasn't for him, we'd be we'd be probably recording this off a phone.
- 7:46SPEAKER_04: But uh he sorted us out some tickets, didn't he?
- 7:49SPEAKER_04: And um some food.
- 7:50SPEAKER_05: Can I just say the amount of food he ate was ridiculous?
- 7:53SPEAKER_05: Do you know they come in the little balls?
- 7:55SPEAKER_05: Easily double figures.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: Well, there were little the balls.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: They were not little.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: No, they weren't that weren't that little.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: Uh we kept the ball bill down, I was sent.
- 8:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so yeah, it was a good day, and then obviously the football, which we'll we'll get on to.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: But I was uh it's a quick one, isn't it?
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: Peter Reed would have been proud of me because when I was 16, 15, 16, they wanted me to put weight on, like completely put weight on.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: They were like, when you go home, make sure you put you get food down here, drinking it, and like get everything down here.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: I was like, Oh, the last thing I'll do.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: I don't know where this is going.
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: Skip was the opposite.
- 8:27SPEAKER_05: Outside for Newcastle at 14, and I was maybe it was Kenny Dagley who's the manager, and he went, so I played at half against Huddersfield, like played really, really well.
- 8:35SPEAKER_05: But I was a little I was a little fatty.
- 8:37SPEAKER_05: Do you know what I mean?
- 8:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, really fat.
- 8:39SPEAKER_05: What age are we talking here?
- 8:40SPEAKER_05: 14, 13, 14, yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_05: So heavy, delivery, heavy, heavy, legs and all that minging.
- 8:45SPEAKER_05: Uh so I got pulled in, he just said, Look, we want to sign you, but we're gonna have to do something about his physique, like sharpie.
- 8:50SPEAKER_05: So my dad got a bit of a telling off.
- 8:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so stop feeding him what you're feeding him, change his diet, and I hated every minute of the tea.
- 8:57SPEAKER_04: He said he had a nightmare though, he was like sneaking down in the middle of the night, but because he was heavy old school.
- 9:04SPEAKER_05: Get back to bed, get that out of that biscuit tonight.
- 9:06SPEAKER_05: Get on the biscuit tonight, so bless man.
- 9:08SPEAKER_05: But I was uh that was what that was what they had to do, but I remember it well, Kenny Douglas pulling him in and just saying, Look, we want to sign him, but that's the four-sport signs in that as well as well, isn't it?
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: That old school got on the bike and just I sweated on food ban in 40, you know.
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: Dad's got you running home from school and then drive him a CD like, come on, streets a Haravi.
- 9:30SPEAKER_04: So the matching I said to you, dude.
- 9:35SPEAKER_05: I thought it was a strange one first half.
- 9:37SPEAKER_05: I mean, before you knew it, there were three and a root, but Oltringham had a lot of the ball.
- 9:40SPEAKER_05: They looked a lot more like comfortable in the middle, in the middle third.
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: But when they got to the final third, they had nothing, did they?
- 9:46SPEAKER_05: No real penetration.
- 9:47SPEAKER_04: It's a weird one.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: Everyone we've spoken to was at the match, it's kind of we were walking in half time, weren't we walking in full time?
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: Some of the directors were saying what a weird match that was.
- 9:57SPEAKER_04: Alchingham came, enjoyed themselves, popped it around.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: Now you could say they were popping it around us and we weren't getting near.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: Or you could say, you know what, Carl went, come on then, let's see what you've got.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: We'll keep our shape, be patient, and attack.
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: And that's what they've done.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: So I can understand the players thinking, well, everyone just relax, we we've got them here, but also understand the the supporter's point of view where you're a big hitter in in this league, and you want to watch the players who we've got who come on, it's budget-wise, are better than ultrams, should should be dominating games and being on the front foot.
- 10:35SPEAKER_03: It's a hard one, isn't it?
- 10:36SPEAKER_03: Because at the end of the day, it's about results, do you know?
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: Like we've had it the other way where we've passed it five, six hundred passes, do you know what I mean?
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: And getting beat, so you'd much rather three points.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: So we'll say that first.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: But as you said, like in this league, you you don't want to be kind of getting dictated to by these sort of teams, do you know what I mean?
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: Like maybe the the kind of top teams you can see why they've been building for a few years and they've got a system and whatever, but teams near the kind of middle to bottom, coming to home and enjoying ourselves, and fans are paying money to come and watch and entertain, do you know what I mean?
- 11:06SPEAKER_05: But more dominant, shouldn't they?
- 11:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it's a balance because you obviously you want to score goals and win the game, and you as you said, like it was a weird game where in the space of like 20 minutes or something, it was like three goals, wasn't it?
- 11:18SPEAKER_03: And then the game was done.
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I think the fans have said it for a little while, haven't they?
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: Like I've seen a lot on Twitter and stuff about not really enjoying watching the games, and especially if you don't get a result as well, it's highlighted that we're not playing well and we're not winning.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: But I I can see that the the now it's just about getting three points, but the only kind of issue I think with that is when you get near the end of the season and you're gonna get into these kind of playoffs, which it looks like is that going to be enough against these better teams who defensively are better and probably hurt you a bit more with the ball.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think that was the general consensus, wasn't it?
- 11:54SPEAKER_04: If it was a York, if it was a Rochdale, they're making use more use of the possession and in the areas they got because Alternum got to a certain area and they just turned back, didn't they?
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: The only time they put the ball in the box was for their goal.
- 12:06SPEAKER_05: I mean, they had two or three players that looked really, really comfortable on the ball, kept it well, but like you say, when they got into that final third, and a lot of it was turning back, going across the pitch, back across, so keeping the ball a lot, but not really doing anything with it.
- 12:18SPEAKER_04: The good thing for me, as a as a midfielder, obviously, three in the middle, three midfielders us.
- 12:23SPEAKER_04: Feeney was kind of and Gilead were going at each other.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: Now I've played with centre half, so I'm not saying Feeney's doing this, but they want the midfielders to do everything, do the sit on their toes, watch the man, and Gilead's turning round, going, listen, and you could see what he's saying.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: He's going, You're good enough to go man to man, let me push up, let me get near the ultimate players.
- 12:42SPEAKER_04: So I know the crowd of Feeney, Feeney, but you know, like the midfielders are saying, Mark up so I can go and engage, and then we would get up to that pressure on it.
- 12:50SPEAKER_04: And that's what Hughes was saying, he's saying, get up, get up, but yeah, it's it's it's it's it's funny when I done the commentary in the um over the other side in the paddock, the groans are a lot louder and a lot quicker, but over in the uh East Sand, they're a lot more patient.
- 13:07SPEAKER_04: I felt there wasn't many groans, was there?
- 13:09SPEAKER_05: No, no, not really.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Is that because it's a different crowd?
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: You think is it more family-friendly over there?
- 13:14SPEAKER_03: Then it's kind of possibly.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, maybe the paddock's more like old school kind of like now, like yeah.
- 13:20SPEAKER_04: I think when I've been sitting over there the last few matches, and it can turn quite quick, and I thought it would over this side, but I mean I've got a lot of mates that go in the paddock, and they can be really both ways.
- 13:31SPEAKER_05: If they're struggling, they can really get at them.
- 13:32SPEAKER_05: But when they're doing well, they really get behind them.
- 13:34SPEAKER_05: So they're all doing all that's what I mean, like, you know what I mean.
- 13:37SPEAKER_03: They're knowing between what they see as well, innit?
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: That's that's the thing, like they're reacting to what they're watching, they're not enjoying it.
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: Like a couple of goals, brilliant three points, but it's like, right, let's let's kick on here.
- 13:47SPEAKER_05: Let's especially when you go two three in the look, you expect to get a foothold and just keep the ball a little bit, but it was but like I said, uh it's one of the strangest first halves I've seen because 3-0 Altringham must have thought I can't believe it.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: See that performance though, right?
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: And the 90 minutes if you go over the course of the season against maybe the top say 10 teams there, does that get your result against that they sort of teams playing like that?
- 14:10SPEAKER_03: Are they going to shift three goals in the space of what 10-15 minutes or whatever?
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: No, no, no.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: And that's what this league gives you.
- 14:16SPEAKER_04: It gives you a player who stands on the ball, slips at the doesn't get the ball in the box, turns around.
- 14:22SPEAKER_04: That's where the top four or five are different, and that's where you can have these alternatives that come up and look nice and and bits of skill.
- 14:30SPEAKER_04: But I think the players themselves are go on have your little bit of spell, but we're gonna kick on in it.
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it would have been nice to go four or five and hammer it down, but again, being a player, you've done your job a little bit, it's really nil, you you've got some big games coming up, but you try to build that that team, like how how are we playing?
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Do you know?
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: Like we're playing well together, like partnerships, either side, middle of the pitch, or now people linking up, you're like when you're three-nil up, that's when you start to build confidence as a team, do you know what I mean?
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: Being like we're a good team here, yeah.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: But probably coming off the pitch, and the players are probably feeling all that alright, we've won three put like three three now or three one.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: But I didn't really enjoy that 90 minutes, yeah.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: Like it's yeah, like it is, it is.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: I can sympathise with supporters and sympathise with players, but a big shout out to to Armstrong, look at Armstrong, because his work yeah phenomenal, isn't it?
- 15:23SPEAKER_04: He just set the tone because I think it was it was just it was quiet, it was laboured, and then he just chased a lost cause, got a corner, something like that.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: That's all it takes, though, to get to get them by.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: Like obviously, managers I've had early years and stuff.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: It was like, who's gonna who's gonna let the torch?
- 15:39SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: Who's gonna be that first tackle or free kick or anything?
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Even sometimes even Marvin Bartley um was at Bull Mouth and stuff back in the day, but I mean he was he was brilliant for that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, honestly, John McGinn's the same.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: Like, see, even like some of the big games when it was quite flat, see even like a tackle, he would just grab someone and cause like a little kind of scruffle, and it was nothing like it wasn't that big fight, but it just the boys all get rounded, the fans are all up, and then before you know it, the next 10-15 minutes, the energy just went through the roof.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: So, like something like as you said, Luke Armstrong, he's brought like it's never been in question, he's what great is it?
- 16:13SPEAKER_03: Like, he's yeah, he worked hard, and especially in this league, like defenders and stuff.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: You're not giving him a second.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: The thing is, Alternum played that nice passing football and going through the lines and that.
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: But I what I loved about our second goal, Gilead channel ball didn't even look, did he?
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Had the Alternum because the Alternum defenders were so comfortable, they're playing out from the back, they're settled, right?
- 16:34SPEAKER_04: Someone's getting annoyed.
- 16:34SPEAKER_04: You were getting annoyed with the centre half, he looked like a Rolls Royce, didn't he?
- 16:38SPEAKER_05: He had the ball all the time, he's just like pass, pass.
- 16:41SPEAKER_05: I'm like, but he's not comfortable on the ball, do you know what I mean?
- 16:44SPEAKER_05: They're just passing it sometimes for the sake of it.
- 16:45SPEAKER_05: But like you said, that goal, which goal was it?
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: Second, gill.
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: Second goal, doesn't even look, knows where he is on the pitch, just a little channel ball, the left backs everywhere, add your boys in, and then and then to go.
- 16:54SPEAKER_05: So it's just just basic, isn't it?
- 16:57SPEAKER_05: But it works if you if you put it in the right areas.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: You've just got to see.
- 17:00SPEAKER_04: I mean we're getting results.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: I know it's looking maybe the titles out of recent, but you've you're up there.
- 17:06SPEAKER_04: I said at the start of the season we need to finish top three, worst top four.
- 17:11SPEAKER_04: I know the playoffs score down to six, but you don't want to be finished because that's quite a bad season.
- 17:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, I think you want to be third if you're not going up, you want to be second, third, fourth at a push.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: And then I know these playoff things are a bit ridiculous where Oldham last year had three games to get promoted where York had just won in the semi-final or something like that.
- 17:29SPEAKER_04: Do you want damn games?
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Or do you want a total break for two weeks to then play a semi-final?
- 17:34SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: But at the minute, big games next Saturday, then Rochdale, Rochdale play again Tuesday, but they've got loads of games.
- 17:42SPEAKER_04: But I think when people are using Rochdale of a lot of games, is it maybe something where they'll fall?
- 17:49SPEAKER_04: I I would have loved that me as a player.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: Especially if they're playing and as I said, like they're enjoying our football, you can see it.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: When you're wanna play, don't you like it all the time.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: And the way they play as well, like like we're all ball players, you know what I mean, midfielders.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: Like, if you're getting loads of touches and loads of possession in the majority of the game, and you're winning games, you couldn't ask for any better.
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: No, I thought you loved it, weren't you?
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: So things I'm gonna bring up though, is the Rochardale and York so the psyche of a footballer.
- 18:15SPEAKER_04: So this is what supporters might this is a little insight into it.
- 18:19SPEAKER_04: So at the minute, York and Rochardale supporters are kind of hoping they win it, I've got a chance to win it.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: If Rochardale win a couple of games in hand, their supporters can then expect them to win it.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: And as a Rochdale player at the minute, they're riding the wave, aren't they?
- 18:38SPEAKER_04: But as soon as it's they're expected to win it, then York are expected to win it, that's when it changes.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: I've been in teams before where even Carlisle League 2, we were living the dream a bit till about March.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: We were chasing, chasing, chasing, everyone excited.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: But then when about four or five points clear, then it shifted.
- 18:57SPEAKER_04: You should win it.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: And then the next thing you're checking leagues, aren't you?
- 19:00SPEAKER_04: You're checking who's winning behind you, you're checking what you're doing.
- 19:03SPEAKER_04: And I think when people write other teams off for the title, that's what I think might happen with Rochardale.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: Certainly Rocherdale, I don't know if that happened to York, York had been there, they've done it last year, but what happened to them last year might be another bearing on them.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: So once they're expected to win it, I expect a little tail-off, and I think there's a chance there for another team.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: And Rochdale, do you think?
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: Is that what you think?
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: Mostly Rochdale.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: I think Rocherdale haven't really got the experience in there.
- 19:29SPEAKER_04: I think York, because what happened last year, they'll have that in them.
- 19:33SPEAKER_04: So if we can just keep digging out points, we're not expected everyone's wrote us off now.
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: So if we can get our form together, if we can win horribly, if we can win well as well, because we're winning games, grinding them out, we can win player better, we know we've got that.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: But I just feel there's a few more twists and turns.
- 19:51SPEAKER_04: But if Roger win their games in hand, so be it.
- 19:54SPEAKER_04: And they go a lot of clear, but as I say it, but it's just that little element as a player you're expected to win it.
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Suddenly the dynamics change between supporters and players.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: And I agree, I definitely agree.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: The the thing with York, it can go both ways, like they can be scarred by last year, but then they could also if there's a lot of the same boys in there, it could be a case of that's not happening again.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: The last year or maybe a midweek game where we came off it thinking we'll protect ourselves for the weekend against one of the lesser teams and get beat.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: Now it's this year, it's a case of every team's the same.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: The most important game is the next one, and three points and we just keep ticking them off.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: That kind of siege mentality.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: That's where that kind of scar tissue could come in for them.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: But again, as you said, the pressure, thinking, oh no, I hope this doesn't happen again.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: Could could go the other way.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: Um I I totally yeah, I get what you're saying there about Kaleo, like just go about the business quietly.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: Everybody's expecting yacht and Rochdale to go at it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Um But the big the big one is this weekend then, isn't it?
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: If if Kaleo can w win at the weekend, totally get that kind of just be the underdogs of that kind of little group at the top.
- 21:04SPEAKER_05: You get the feeling that people are sort of just edging towards Rochdale, don't you think they're gonna go to Rochdale and probably not gonna get a result.
- 21:11SPEAKER_05: That's uh the general feeling with a lot of fans, they won't get anything at Rochdale.
- 21:14SPEAKER_05: And they can get something at Rochdale, yeah.
- 21:16SPEAKER_05: They're more than capable.
- 21:16SPEAKER_05: So, like you say, go about your business quietly and and see what you get.
- 21:19SPEAKER_05: But the next they've got a big, big three games coming up, haven't they?
- 21:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah, real big.
- 21:23SPEAKER_04: Well uh yeah, we'll go into Rochdale near the end, we'll tail off, but we'll do a bit more of Carlisle now, and then we'll go into a bit of football in general.
- 21:30SPEAKER_04: We'll finish with a Rochdale game.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: But a couple of talking points as your boy, the winger came in.
- 21:36SPEAKER_04: I watched him for Sutton, thought he was a real powerful winger, was gonna be a real nuisance for Carlisle, and it happens, doesn't it?
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: Which has happened with a few of our signs, just not worked.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: Went away on the training pitch for the last three weeks.
- 21:49SPEAKER_04: I heard his interview after the game, very humble, just said he's got his head down and had one of his better games on Saturday, which was culminating and a goal and an assist as well.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: I was just gonna say a goal and assist, I thought he was finished.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: Was great.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: Um, I mean, Armstrong's desire to get on the end of his cross was there to see, but that was his whole performance, wasn't it?
- 22:06SPEAKER_05: But like you say, if he's if he's getting his head down, he's working on his weaknesses and stuff, you've uh you've got nothing but prayers for him when he comes in and does stuff like that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_04: It's a tough one for a winger, isn't it?
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: Because you're you're expected to go at players all the time, and if you're not feeling it, if you've been tackled the first couple of times, that's where the mental toughness is.
- 22:23SPEAKER_04: We've we've spoken about remember Ben Marshall played for Blackburn.
- 22:27SPEAKER_04: He was a player, wasn't he?
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: I remember he was in someone's pack pocket for Carlisle and he never got past him, just kept going, kept going.
- 22:35SPEAKER_04: Last minute went past him, got the cross in, we scored to like equalise, something like that.
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: But that winger mentality, sometimes when you're getting snuffed out by a defender, you sometimes don't go at it.
- 22:45SPEAKER_04: But he got tackled the first twice, but was glad that he just kept going and had a really good game.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: It's a personality thing as well, isn't it?
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: Like as you said, a lot of people can just kind of keep it safe, get the ball, and look like they're gonna square him up and then go back and die.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: Now it's like you've you've took the easy option, but oh I can't I can't get at them.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: Like um, but just to keep going and going, as you said, it might be nine times that he's he loses the ball or doesn't really get an end product, but the tenth one the ball's in the back end of the net and that's I'd run the Halifax game on the Tuesday night.
- 23:20SPEAKER_05: And he played really well then.
- 23:22SPEAKER_05: And you could see he grew into the game and he was getting a lot more confident in the end.
- 23:24SPEAKER_05: He was trying to few little bits.
- 23:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but yeah.
- 23:27SPEAKER_05: I like that because he was he was getting a bit of success with it, yeah.
- 23:30SPEAKER_05: He was enjoying himself by the end.
- 23:31SPEAKER_05: So to see him to keep going and and the way he played on Saturday.
- 23:34SPEAKER_05: It's good to see because they come in and like you say, wingers you want to excite on, they want to get past your fingers and he's he's done well Saturday and he should be really pleased with him.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: So I think that's that's what I'm saying.
- 23:44SPEAKER_03: I know I'm gonna back over old ground, but when you're freeing a lot at home against one of the kind of lesser teams, all that confidence, do you know what I mean?
- 23:52SPEAKER_03: Midfielders getting the ball, spraying it about, through the lines, wingers getting at people, strikers getting go, defenders now stepping out and making passes, all this kind of stuff, like that breeds confidence when getting into next week against Rochdale.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: You fez you always remember you've probably done the same.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: You think about your last game, do you know what I mean?
- 24:08SPEAKER_03: See if you had a really good game, you you you want to go again and do the same things, do you know what I mean?
- 24:12SPEAKER_03: So yeah, that kind of confidence building as a team and as players is huge.
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: Hugh's trying to give people game time as well, wasn't he?
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: So he's made a few substitutions at different times, but one of them, which was great to see, Charlie White back.
- 24:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, big shout out to Big Charlie.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: Um personally for me, I've I've been in the place when obviously he's he's gone through struggles the last what 16 months.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: So um I know what it's what it's took on him, and um he's had a he's had a terrible time with it, and not uh setback after setback and stuff, and mentally challenging, physically, everything having to turn up every day and now have a laugh with the boys and stuff, and then you're going to uh you're going to a jump.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: And then the boys are all outside and all getting together outside.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: I think that's one of the interviews.
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: Whenever anyone's been injured, that's the first thing everyone says when they've been injured.
- 25:02SPEAKER_04: How's it been?
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: And I don't think supporters at times recognise the kindest I've heard quotes of you know what Vihab he's a professional footballer, he's getting paid loads.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: It doesn't matter what you're getting paid.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: When you're with the lads and your workmates in the morning and you're all around them, and you've you it doesn't matter what you're getting paid, you love football, don't you?
- 25:21SPEAKER_04: If you're not a footballer, I mean there's a few who have made it just because they're sessional athletes, but the most of us, especially our era, we had a ball up our feet since we were six, yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_04: And we just played, played, played, and played.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: Some of us overweight, some of us not but and then to get it taken away from you at any time, and especially when you're in a training when you're all you're geared to is Saturdays, to go in, have the crack with the lads, and then watch them all out you go, and then you're going into a little room on your own, and you've just got rehab, rehab with a long stretch in front of you.
- 25:54SPEAKER_04: It's uh it can be a tough time, that as well.
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's hard to see kind of the end of the tunnel, really, and especially with Charlie's case.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: Like I know that they at some points they they didn't really know what was wrong.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: They they tried to fix um the injury at first and then tried to go in again and fix it and take things out and kind of just see if it helps, and just that kind of unknown that you'd rather just have a kind of basic injury of being like, right, I know I'm gonna be out six months, yeah, I'll get back and then I'll be fine.
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: But his was a bit complicated, so and obviously he's had health scares before, and yeah, so it was great, it was great, and you can see like the reception and stuff and the fans and what it means.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: He might not be fit to start from now on the season, but you know what?
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: What a what a bonus.
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: Like sometimes I think myself, there'll be games on these tight grounds, killing Mike up front, lump it in, yeah, get midfielders, get round them.
- 26:50SPEAKER_04: Even if the defenders win the headers, they're dropping in five, six yards, and people can be on to it.
- 26:56SPEAKER_04: I mean yesterday, did you watch um Man City Tottenham, the second goal, the ball dropped, Gallagher's second ball, old school, second ball onto it, yeah, fed the winger, things like that.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: That's what Carlisle supporters were shouting on Saturday, a bit of urgency, and you're seeing it in the Premier League, it's going back to old school, kind of that sort of stuff.
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: But I just feel if the ball drops around white like that, if our midfielders are like Gallagher was yesterday onto that goal's galore to be added there.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: No, he's definitely like hopefully that's him now that he can build up his minutes.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: We were Sundland with him, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: Uh Sunderland, and then obviously he came in at Coleo.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: So I know how great a lad he is, do you know what I mean?
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: Off the pitch.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: Um he's he's he's a good player, obviously, when he's fit and he's on the pitch, but off the pitch, I know what he can bring.
- 27:39SPEAKER_05: And because of his first time round, he's very well thought of, isn't he?
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: But also, let's have it right, he could have probably just retired.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, he done very well out of football, done his rehab, and then just thought, you know what, especially with the these other problems that he's had, like to fight back from that and then to come back from this and go, you know what, even if it's from now until the end of the season, then I'm done.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna get back, I'm gonna pull that shirt on.
- 28:02SPEAKER_05: That's what they wanted Warney to get actually prove to himself he can get back and do it.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was amazing from this Carlisle supporters.
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: I don't think they were expecting him to come on and score goals, they were just delighted to see him in the match squad to be honest.
- 28:12SPEAKER_04: And it says a lot about him as a player because you see, when when you finish playing or something happens to you, how many footballers get in touch with you and stuff like that, and and you could see what off the post like how many just jumped on it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: He's a great lad, and uh again in the run-in as well.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: Like his game time might be limited for a while, but I think even having him in the squad, honestly, see even in the case, even on the bus and on the in the hotels, he's a big character in that dressing room.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: So what's you you we try and tell him, Dylan?
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: You tell supporters or listeners what sometimes they don't even play, but the big characters you need in and around influence, yeah.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's just he's a big influence.
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: And obviously his career speaks for itself, he's he's scored goals everywhere he's gone, and Kaleo the first time around, and obviously he's had a few injuries here, but he's he's massive, like personality about the place, always laughing and joking, even though you you can tell that he's gonna hard time, always there for a lads, always uh in the morning, getting round everybody, having a laugh and stuff.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, he's he's a great guy.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: Um, to have him back in the squad's huge, especially this run-in now at the end of the season.
- 29:17SPEAKER_05: Um to do that when he's going through what he's going through, just feels a lot about it, doesn't it?
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: You need that.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: We we we had we've had loads of them.
- 29:24SPEAKER_04: I mean, David Moyes was talking about Grealish the other day, and it wasn't really about him on the pitch.
- 29:29SPEAKER_04: When he comes in the dressing room, he get he lifts people, he has words with people, they respect him because he's I know he's still a young young man, but the career he's had and he's won the Champions League, the players in Everton squad or they listen to him and he's bubbly and yeah, and it's kind of like probably Huntington in the the playoffs, yeah, the promotion season or the league one season, even though they were getting beat, he was there, he was around, people like Dylan.
- 29:49SPEAKER_04: Kev Grey was for us.
- 29:51SPEAKER_04: I think Kev should have got an extra year.
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: I think he left us at 34-35, and I always remember Greg Abbott seeing Anil MacDonald give Kev Grey another year, even though he doesn't play just what he brings.
- 30:01SPEAKER_04: We didn't have that for that season, we didn't really have a 33-34 year old because Chris Billy went as well.
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: So petrified of him.
- 30:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, Kev Grey gentle giant on the pitch.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: Speaking of a top man, Harry Lewis.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, good guy, mate.
- 30:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, um obviously he's not played as much when Gabe's come in, but um he's again another example of, and I think I've seen Mark Hughes' um interview during the week saying like credit to him because he comes in every day, he's one of the first in the morning.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: I used to see him in the gym every morning.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: We used to catch up and stuff about how a day was and the weekend and stuff.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: So yeah, he's always in the gym doing his workout, keeping looking after himself, great shape by the way, for goalkeeper for a goalkeeper as well.
- 30:45SPEAKER_03: Like not a lot of them are now tip-top shape, so um nah he's he's he's a good guy and he's always about the place, nothing negative, never negative.
- 30:55SPEAKER_03: Um, and I think he's one of probably Gabe's biggest supporters, to be honest, which is which is hard to do.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't care what you say, like you want to play, you want to play football, and he's got your jersey, but um they two were really really really close.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: So it's funny, isn't it?
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: The the goalkeepers union they do seem people to have a good relationship, they keep at us, but it I remember Lionel, remember Lionel Perez and Edwin Zutabe at Sunderland 1997, they hated each other.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: Lionel was a bit like a maverick, but Edwin would be in at eight o'clock in the morning, and Lionel just come in at ten, laughing at him, going, 'You're not getting me shirt, like not getting me shirt.' Edwin's like doing sit-ups and that.
- 31:31SPEAKER_04: Lionel's like the game's cheese now, yeah.
- 31:35SPEAKER_04: But Harry, you know, I've I get I got to know through my partner, his partner, yeah, and got a young kid and they've got another one on the way on the way, I'm allowed to say that.
- 31:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I think he was looking at Scotland, wasn't he?
- 31:48SPEAKER_04: So they could stay put, but just like that, she created a little business for herself over here, a nice home, and they're away now, so they're looking at houses now.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: Honestly, like good luck to them.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: Like, I hope it goes well for them, and it's good to see him going and obviously he'll go challenge there.
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: It looked like he wasn't obviously going to get in here, and he's got another another baby on the way, and he's got a young family and stuff, so this gives him a good opportunity.
- 32:13SPEAKER_05: Because people think just because it didn't really go to plan for him here, that he can't go there and and and get his self in the team, but yeah, he's got a good reputation, he's a good goal for the state.
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: Well, he's a good guy, honestly.
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: Like economy, he's a good guy, and you want you want the best for good people, so great feet, great feet.
- 32:28SPEAKER_04: He could play out of the way.
- 32:29SPEAKER_04: I've seen him before again, pinging it and stuff.
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: What I will say on that as well, like obviously he had a bit of a tough time here at at points as well, but I think for them, two years, especially the time I was here, like who didn't have a tough time?
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so uh and it's harsh for goalkeepers because they always get criticised because when they make a mistake, it's it's a goal on it.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: So um at times like he was getting quite a bit of stick, and it was it must have been tough.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: Um, but then you could look around the whole team who weren't protecting him, do you know what I mean?
- 32:57SPEAKER_03: Who weren't defending properly, weren't stopping crosses, or us not blocking shots or not just scoring goals, and yeah.
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: So um we we all had a part of playing that to be fair.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: But to be fair to him, he held his hands up at times, didn't he?
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: When we speak to him, he goes, Listen, I've had a shocker there, that's but it was collected, as you say.
- 33:13SPEAKER_04: But Carl have brought a new keeper in, but wasn't there a story where Port Vale were looking for a uh goalkeeper when you played for Port Vale Skip?
- 33:24SPEAKER_05: So I was a Port Vale, do you remember Brian Horton?
- 33:26SPEAKER_05: No old school manager.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: So you have a different unit for me, I mean we remember, yeah.
- 33:32SPEAKER_05: He was my manager at Port Vale, and he was he was brutal, he was old school, like he could hammered me all the time for obvious reasons.
- 33:39SPEAKER_05: Like and so we had two keepers who went down injured at the same time, so desperate for a keeper.
- 33:44SPEAKER_05: And I used to play with a lad called Johnny Brain at Newcastle, and when he got released off Newcastle, he packed in completely and he went to centre parks to teach archery, which is random, but that's what we've done it.
- 33:54SPEAKER_05: So there used to be a nightclub in town called Freedom.
- 33:57SPEAKER_05: I'm full of okay rebel, went in seeing him.
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: I was like, and he just clicked, we haven't got a keeper.
- 34:02SPEAKER_05: I said, What are you doing?
- 34:03SPEAKER_05: You got your gloves away, you big man.
- 34:05SPEAKER_05: So me gets the phone out of the pocket, manager in the nightclub, voicemail, music in the background, and all that.
- 34:11SPEAKER_05: I've got a keeper for us and all.
- 34:13SPEAKER_05: Next day I've got off thinking, why have I rang my mother here?
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: One in the morning, just got a text on the afternoon, my office in the morning, I need to speak to you.
- 34:21SPEAKER_05: So we got in, so I've got any how you ever try and ring me at that time again, blah blah blah.
- 34:26SPEAKER_05: He went anyway.
- 34:26SPEAKER_05: Who's this keeper?
- 34:28SPEAKER_05: Told him next day, come in, train one morning, and I think he played for the club for the next three or four years.
- 34:34SPEAKER_05: No, he's career, and now he still lives in Stoke where Portville is.
- 34:37SPEAKER_05: It's not football works, yeah.
- 34:38SPEAKER_04: The reckon there was ten people at Centre Parks on the Monday.
- 34:43SPEAKER_05: Where's this Johnny?
- 34:44SPEAKER_05: Honestly, though, do you see when I got the text message?
- 34:46SPEAKER_05: I thought, oh, I've rang him at the bar, haven't I?
- 34:48unknown: I'm just thinking.
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: So moral story is make sure you're in a nightclub with all the games.
- 34:52SPEAKER_03: Did you just spot people?
- 34:53SPEAKER_05: So when I rang Johnny Brennan, I was like, Can you come down in the morning?
- 34:56SPEAKER_05: Like, I haven't played in goals for like I can't remember how long.
- 34:59SPEAKER_05: Like, I don't even know where my gloves are.
- 35:01SPEAKER_05: I've never seen a training session like it.
- 35:02SPEAKER_05: It's like this guy hasn't got a club on like do you know I'm not just kind of taking this.
- 35:06SPEAKER_05: Public because on for it, there's a little forgotten about you being in Freedom Night Club.
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: Which one is Freedom?
- 35:11SPEAKER_04: Um West Walls.
- 35:14SPEAKER_05: I think West Walls are a big long nightclub, but so uh but do you know driving that two-hour drive from Carlisle to Stoke?
- 35:21SPEAKER_05: Didn't have the radio on.
- 35:22SPEAKER_05: I was just driving like that thinking, what is he gonna?
- 35:25SPEAKER_05: Um I was petrified.
- 35:26SPEAKER_05: And he sort of laughed it off in the end, but when he came in and trained and then he got signed, he was buzzing because we were desperate for a keeper.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: And he came in on peanuts and we had something similar at Hibbs with Conrad Logan.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: Do you remember?
- 35:37SPEAKER_03: I think it was polar bear.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: Oh, did you?
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:40SPEAKER_03: Honestly, great guy, like really good guy.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Um we had at Hibbs uh by Garland Stubbs.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: It was a season we went and won the Scottish Cup.
- 35:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so he came in and played the semi-final against Dundee United.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: Honestly, see if you could back for the listeners.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: Type in Dundee United versus Hibs semi-final 2016.
- 35:59SPEAKER_03: This performance is unbelievable.
- 36:00SPEAKER_04: I honestly remember because honestly, it was at Stockport or something, wasn't he?
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: It's unbelievable.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: But anyway, so the week before that, I was actually listening to Big Alan Stubbs on um one of the other podcasts talking about this uh last week.
- 36:11SPEAKER_03: But basically, our goalkeeper Mark Oxley, who's at um can't remember one of the National League teams, but anyway, he was uh he was in goal for us and he'd been booked in one of the games and got a suspension.
- 36:26SPEAKER_03: But the reason he got booked was because he was contact lens, he's right.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: He'd lost something happened in the game, he'd lost his contact lens and he was like down, trying to like fix it or something, or put it back in.
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: It had moved or something, and he was trying to put it in.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: The ref thought he was wasting time, ran over and booked him, so it means he missed the next game.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: So we had to get an emergency goalkeeper in because we didn't think they sent something alone or whatever it was.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: Um so yeah, I come in one day and in the fizzy room, there was this guy kind of lying face down, right?
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Top off.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: So I walked in, like, oh how he's doing Mollin, blah blah blah.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: I walked back out and I thought in my head, I'm thinking that's somebody like the the chairman knows or something now.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: Like Grandsman's getting nerved.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: I've said this before, like come up and dump them, don't you?
- 37:11SPEAKER_05: I can't be a player.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: Like you generally just thought, like, now like maybe the chairman's like cousin or something's come in and got what done his back or something now, like whatever.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: So I'm out like stretching.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: The boy's like, Oh, have you seen the new goalkeeper?
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Oh, where is he?
- 37:22SPEAKER_03: Like, is he like is he in yet?
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: Can I?
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: They're like, He's you just he's in there.
- 37:27SPEAKER_03: I was like, No, that can't be, it can't be like, and you he's a big guy, right?
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: He's a big guy, and Stubbs just spoke about it as well.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: Like, he had a few few stone to lose before he could play and stuff, but he was like a big um turns out it was him, he was it was him on the bed, but his performance honestly was unbelievable.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: And we signed him.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: He was broad.
- 37:46SPEAKER_04: Getting them kicked on, didn't he?
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Got a few he was at Leicester not always did.
- 37:49SPEAKER_04: Like, there was a back.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: He was a great goalkeeper.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: He just obviously he he was naturally a big guy, but he I think he had he had a long injury um at Leicester or somewhere else, and he he just obviously got really big.
- 38:02SPEAKER_03: So that's how nobody would touch him.
- 38:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think you're right, yeah.
- 38:06SPEAKER_04: I uh Joe Hugel.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Did you play with Joe Hugo?
- 38:09SPEAKER_03: Joe, yeah, yeah.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: He was in he came in, was it was it Simon signed them?
- 38:14SPEAKER_04: I think he didn't come on loan from Lang United, didn't I?
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: We went Wiggins and North East lad, just never happened, but ended up with Kilmarner.
- 38:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, he's just signed with Killer, yeah.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: Um there's something in there for me.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: Like when I when I saw him again, I always find it hard judging players by the time I played when I'm here because it was a tough time for us, do you know what I mean?
- 38:36SPEAKER_03: Like we couldn't get it going on the pitch, yeah.
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: We got a couple of results and a couple of bad ones, and obviously the relegations and stuff like that.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: It was a hard place to be, do you know what I mean?
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: For any player, so you don't want to judge them too harshly on that.
- 38:50SPEAKER_04: Was it a bad was it kind of a bad it was hard for loan players to come into a dressing room probably like that as well when even the players who are there are a little bit down and that's it.
- 39:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think obviously he was a he's still young, but at that point he was like a young lad as well, and he's an attacking player coming from Man United, expecting now big things, and it's he's one of them confidence players as well, where if if it's not gone that great and the fans are groaning a little bit because we're conceding and not passing it forward, then I can see how the confidence just getting zapped out of him.
- 39:21SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 39:21SPEAKER_05: Like you know, it's like on lawn, you've got to come in and make an impact, haven't you?
- 39:24SPEAKER_05: Because you obviously your parent clubs you're trying to basically impress them, aren't you, and get your name out there, but to come into a struggle and dressing room, it's But he he had power, like pace and power, do you know what I mean?
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: He was quick and stuff like that, and he was a good lad, he wanted to work hard, he wasn't lazy and stuff, so just couldn't really get it going.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Then he'd finally sit on the bench and maybe coming on and maybe giving it away a few times when he comes on.
- 39:45SPEAKER_04: It's like that's the thing that's the inside.
- 39:47SPEAKER_04: That's the inside we want, though, isn't it?
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: Because I remember on the radio people saying Hugo looks he looks lazy, and I didn't think he was, I think he was just a little bit caught up in the surrounds or caught up in the atmosphere where he didn't quite know what he was or how the gaffer wanted to play, or and and yeah, and some loan my first loan move at Blackpool had two good games, first one and the end one in between.
- 40:10SPEAKER_04: I was shocking, but that loan move made me ready for the next one.
- 40:14SPEAKER_04: And yeah, kind of your first loan move, you can kind of like get your head round right.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: This is proper football.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm not the Sunderland's Rezzies, which resis were good back then, but you you realise that you played real football, played for win bonuses.
- 40:27SPEAKER_04: You've got fans like you should, you know.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: Well, on that, I mean I was the only one out of the reserves who never got a loan move.
- 40:32SPEAKER_05: So I went from Newcastle straight to Port Vale, so obviously I'd played pre-season.
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: My first like league game was actually as a Portville player, not on loans.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: Was it what age 20 21, 22?
- 40:44SPEAKER_05: And do you remember like called Jason Kumas?
- 40:46SPEAKER_05: Played for Wales and Wigan in the how good was he by his son's at the so my debut is against him, not knowing a month later he was going to get moved to the Prem.
- 40:53SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 40:54SPEAKER_05: So I got whipped off 56 minutes, a nightmare.
- 40:56SPEAKER_05: Dad didn't speak to us all the way on.
- 40:58SPEAKER_05: I'm thinking this is the standard.
- 41:01SPEAKER_05: This is the standard Elite One.
- 41:02SPEAKER_05: I'm struggling, yeah.
- 41:03SPEAKER_05: Like I am struggling.
- 41:04SPEAKER_05: So Tuesday night, Cardiff away, not in the squad, Brian on the Sunday.
- 41:09SPEAKER_05: You leave leave you off for a bit.
- 41:10SPEAKER_05: But what I'm saying is, like, I thought that was the standard, but obviously it wasn't.
- 41:13SPEAKER_05: He was he was a bit.
- 41:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he was a so I got a bit of a false, false uh debut, but I mean it took me a while to get up to speed, a good while, because I obviously the the season starts in August.
- 41:25SPEAKER_05: It was around Christmas time until I found my feet.
- 41:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we played against each other on the August.
- 41:29SPEAKER_05: Well, do you want to tell them the score?
- 41:31SPEAKER_04: Big old hot as a weather, and those are the side of the five.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: It was a big pitch, and it was a warm day.
- 41:37SPEAKER_04: Three ones, so we used to we had a bit of beef, didn't we?
- 41:41SPEAKER_05: He was big time.
- 41:42SPEAKER_05: We delight was big time on the pitch.
- 41:44SPEAKER_05: What were you saying to us?
- 41:46SPEAKER_05: Tell the truth.
- 41:49SPEAKER_04: What about the freedom night?
- 41:52SPEAKER_05: I remember that game, man.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: But it was I can imagine you being quite chuppy on the pitch.
- 41:58SPEAKER_04: Oh this isn't the different as soon as that shirt went on.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: Different animal.
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: And the amount of people who said to us after I played, top man him.
- 42:08SPEAKER_04: I remember met Kevin Ellison out once, we'll try and get Kev on.
- 42:11SPEAKER_04: Kevin Ellison, thousand games, we'll try and get him on.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: And the Carlisle supporters hate him, don't they?
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: But every year he's come back and had more and more banter, and by the end, they're like, ah, great lad, Kevin Ellison.
- 42:21SPEAKER_04: But yeah, we'll come back to Carlisle, as I said, about the Rochelle game near the end of the show.
- 42:26SPEAKER_04: Um, maybe discuss them a little bit more depth, but we'll get on to Premier League.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: Who's winning it?
- 42:32SPEAKER_05: For me, Arsenal, I think.
- 42:35SPEAKER_05: I think Arsenal.
- 42:36SPEAKER_05: You want man if Man City can just stay on the tails of them till near the end of being there, do it because Arsenal just need to get off the line once done, and then I think they could go on a run of winning it a good few times.
- 42:44SPEAKER_05: But they do.
- 42:46SPEAKER_05: They won't get a better chance.
- 42:47SPEAKER_03: No, they won't.
- 42:47SPEAKER_03: What City have been poor?
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: It's not like City's number two fell off.
- 42:51SPEAKER_04: We're talking about York.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: What about Arsenal?
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: Blew it a couple of times.
- 42:56SPEAKER_03: Is this the air the the go right?
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: And I I think so as well, with some of the results, but there's nobody chasing them.
- 43:03SPEAKER_03: See, the last couple of years, City have been chasing them, Liverpool have been chasing them, and then they fell away.
- 43:07SPEAKER_05: And it's not like City to go from 2 0 up at Tottenham away.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: I think they're just you're gonna get out of the three or four or just see it out.
- 43:13SPEAKER_05: It's not like them to go see two.
- 43:14SPEAKER_03: They've only won one in six or seven or something like that in the legal.
- 43:17SPEAKER_03: I seen yesterday, yeah.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: So that's not what they say.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: I tell you what, Pep's knocked his menu out of his rhythm already, cutting back all the time, isn't he?
- 43:24SPEAKER_04: Turning back inside, a ball myth.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: The boy um Arsenal, is he as well?
- 43:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like I seen um Carrigan that talk about him and why he is that though, why does he Because they have a like Gary Nivell kind of gave a good analysis on it?
- 43:40SPEAKER_03: It's like they have a certain system of how they want to play, and they do not shift for that.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like everybody knows their certain roles.
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: We're we're moving the ball that side to the to the winger, it kind of squares up the fullback and brings people along, but then we're gonna shift it and we're gonna attack the other side.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: And probably sacca's getting the most joy, do you know what I mean?
- 43:58SPEAKER_03: Because the time you get sacca, you can come.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: And then inside his left, but on the left hand side, it's all about just moving them.
- 44:04SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 44:05SPEAKER_03: Like they're not actually looking to get past his defender.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: It's and City are the same, and it's frustrating because the b to be fair, the boy Doku at City can he can knock it and go, do you know what I mean?
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: And he can shift.
- 44:17SPEAKER_03: But as you said, like the what the freedom they had at the clubs that got them to move, as soon as they go and go in there starting 11, it's total different football.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: It was Grealish, wasn't it?
- 44:28SPEAKER_05: Well, I went to the Newcastle City game with my dad earlier in the season.
- 44:30SPEAKER_05: I think it was earlier this season.
- 44:32SPEAKER_05: No, last season, sorry.
- 44:33SPEAKER_05: And Grealish didn't go past even go on try go past the full back once.
- 44:37SPEAKER_05: Every time, like you say, got it, threatened to do it, shifted every single time, and then he got whipped off.
- 44:44SPEAKER_04: And then I think his first seven games and everything he got to the byline and produced like three goals.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: He said something, didn't he?
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: And the interviews I remember seeing it.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: I thought, oh, that's a little dig.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: Something like it's good to kind of have a bit of freedom or something or something like that along the lines.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: And it was like you could see he was back playing the way he was at Villa, where even if he had two guys on him, I'm confident I'm gonna go make something happen.
- 45:06SPEAKER_03: But if he gave the ball away in that city team, he's getting ripped off.
- 45:10SPEAKER_03: He's getting ripped off.
- 45:11SPEAKER_04: Speaking of midfielders, Rodri man.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: Right foot, left foot, pass Rodri for Man City again.
- 45:17SPEAKER_04: He should have got sent off yesterday to be there.
- 45:19SPEAKER_04: But just you know, in the ball, sometimes you'll take a dodgy one, won't you?
- 45:23SPEAKER_04: And your left foot's not as strong as your right, and you'll he's just everything, he's passing Chris, but he's out great player, physique as well.
- 45:29SPEAKER_04: Like he's big, he's strong, top, top player.
- 45:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's he's right player, isn't he?
- 45:33SPEAKER_04: And Arsenal have gone back.
- 45:34SPEAKER_04: I was just gonna say, is is the Premier League an enjoyable watch?
- 45:37SPEAKER_05: Not for me.
- 45:38unknown: Not for me.
- 45:39SPEAKER_05: I don't enjoy it.
- 45:40SPEAKER_05: You're probably going about VAR, but that spoils you a lot.
- 45:43SPEAKER_05: The Villa take.
- 45:45SPEAKER_04: Well, the Villa one is probably out, isn't it?
- 45:47SPEAKER_04: The Villa goal.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: But to go back that long, and you've got to let that go.
- 45:51SPEAKER_04: You've got to let it pass.
- 45:53SPEAKER_05: Abraham Boylan couldn't get it.
- 45:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, his debut, yeah.
- 45:55SPEAKER_05: But uh some celebration.
- 45:57SPEAKER_05: There's not many games, there's not many games I get excited about.
- 46:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there's not many games I get excited about in the Premier League to go and watch now.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: Nah, and even Arsenal have brought back the long throws, which which I don't mind actually.
- 46:07SPEAKER_04: I actually don't mind it.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: There's when they went Sam Aladise.
- 46:12SPEAKER_04: Sam Aladise came and worked for Sunderland.
- 46:15SPEAKER_04: Um not many people know this.
- 46:17SPEAKER_04: He got sacked from Knott's County before he got the Bolton job, he came and worked under Peter Reed, big old magnum PI tash, and he just started getting everyone like practicing long throws, and the gaffer came out and went, What the f is going on?
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: He went, long throws, gaffer, and he went, nah, go on then.
- 46:32SPEAKER_04: And then on the Saturday, we played someone like Villa at Roker Park and we scored from a long throw.
- 46:37SPEAKER_04: But he he he was ahead for being long throwers, he was also ahead of it in many different ways, Sam Aladice, and he took that on.
- 46:43SPEAKER_04: But always remember, I was I was on the coach's room, I had to clean the coach's room, so I had to get in it like the lads when you finish.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: So went for the listeners.
- 46:51SPEAKER_04: When you finish playing and you're an apprentice, you're still there till five o'clock doing all the jobs, so everyone's on you, so everyone else's job's done, and I've still got to clean the coach's room.
- 47:01SPEAKER_04: So they're going knock, go and knock.
- 47:02SPEAKER_04: I'm like, they're not finished, like they're having a beer, or more often than not, I'd knock and I'd go in there, and Magnum P.I.
- 47:08SPEAKER_04: Sam Allardyce is butt naked, out of the shower, can of bud, and I'd always get a mid, like you know where he's like lost in his balls, and it he just used to go.
- 47:24SPEAKER_04: He never he is fireballs XL5 every time, fireballs XL5, and this big task just grinning.
- 47:34SPEAKER_04: What position are you gonna be?
- 47:35SPEAKER_04: Who you're gonna play for?
- 47:36SPEAKER_04: Asking us all these questions.
- 47:37SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I don't know, Sam.
- 47:39SPEAKER_04: All I'm thinking about is can you just put it in the 16-year-old under pressure by the 16-year-old, the lads are on my case, I'm ginger, I've got a brace top and bottom, I'm about three stone, I'm already getting bullied for fun, and I've got to go in and confront like Sam Aladice while he's flossing his balls, so to speak, and I'm getting called Fireballs XL5 and just trying to make a career.
- 48:00SPEAKER_05: I always remember Mick Watch was coming under under Bobby Robson, and he used to walk past me every morning and go, up and down, look as up and down, you look heavy today.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: Like, I haven't even trained my mate.
- 48:11SPEAKER_05: You look heavy today.
- 48:13SPEAKER_05: It was horrible.
- 48:13SPEAKER_05: Like, I was like, I don't need that, like, so I've got to go out and train and that and then so it would sometimes we'd watch the first team, we'd just come up next to you and he'd go whispering, Do you think you're as good as Rob Lee?
- 48:22SPEAKER_05: And what do you say?
- 48:23SPEAKER_05: Like, nah, well, you should think you're better than Rob Lee.
- 48:26SPEAKER_05: But you don't know what's a trick question.
- 48:27SPEAKER_03: Horrible trick question games you don't know what the right answer is.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: I know reckon you would have heard this.
- 48:32SPEAKER_04: Roy Keane went around the dressing room.
- 48:34SPEAKER_04: Can you play in my first team?
- 48:35SPEAKER_04: Jordan Henderson goes aye.
- 48:36SPEAKER_04: Aye, he did.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: But if I said that Peter Reid, he got half you don't know.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: I don't know, Peter, like maybe.
- 48:44SPEAKER_04: What do you think?
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: What do you think?
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: You're the gaff at who you talk Dennis Booth.
- 48:51SPEAKER_04: Did you do uh on a different note?
- 48:53SPEAKER_04: There was a couple of players when Dennis first took over with similar drinking culture, and he used to he was bang on it.
- 48:59SPEAKER_04: So the players used to get in and neck the TCP.
- 49:01SPEAKER_04: Just they were goggle, the mouth have a goggle get out, and he'd go, Who's been drinking?
- 49:07SPEAKER_04: TCP, and they go, he goes, You know, I know that.
- 49:10SPEAKER_04: He went, because I drank for fun day and night, and I still played top division for it on them.
- 49:16SPEAKER_03: Old school.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: Well, uh, what about up your way then?
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: Put a little vote out yesterday, didn't it on our social media?
- 49:24SPEAKER_03: I'll vote as well.
- 49:25SPEAKER_04: I'll get on the results now.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: So Scottish Prem.
- 49:28SPEAKER_03: Hearts are the great result, didn't they?
- 49:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, three now.
- 49:33SPEAKER_04: Scottish Prem.
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: Do you want the results?
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: Yes, go ahead.
- 49:36SPEAKER_04: Who wins the Scottish Prem votes?
- 49:40SPEAKER_04: 58% Hearts, 28% Celtic, and 17 votes.
- 49:46SPEAKER_04: Uh 17% for Rangers.
- 49:49SPEAKER_04: 58%.
- 49:51SPEAKER_04: Cookies have got Celtic favourites.
- 49:53SPEAKER_05: Have they?
- 49:54SPEAKER_04: Tell you where I'm going with?
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: Celtic.
- 49:57SPEAKER_04: Are you still?
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I went Celtic as well.
- 49:59SPEAKER_05: Do you go hearts?
- 50:00SPEAKER_05: I mean, I think heart will win it, but what was the carry-on with that manager they've just got rid of?
- 50:04SPEAKER_05: Oh nancy.
- 50:05SPEAKER_05: That's probably gonna cost them the league, if anything, isn't it?
- 50:08SPEAKER_03: To be honest, that that could.
- 50:09SPEAKER_03: And and don't take away farts.
- 50:11SPEAKER_03: I feel like you're gonna they don't deserve it.
- 50:14SPEAKER_03: Like if they did want it, they they totally deserve it, even to still be now.
- 50:18SPEAKER_03: Like, because kind of said for a while like not long ago, like people think this is just like a flash in the pan.
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: He's like, We've been top since can't remember the date, but it's been like four months or something, five months, they've been top of the league, too.
- 50:29SPEAKER_04: He's done tremendous because this is what we've just been speaking about throughout the pod.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: They're expected to win it soon.
- 50:35SPEAKER_04: I wouldn't say now, I would say if they're still in the same position.
- 50:39SPEAKER_04: I think Celtic keep winning, I think they'll close the gap to three.
- 50:43SPEAKER_04: But as soon as Hart's are meant to win it, that's when it could be you've got like some McGregor in Celtic's team.
- 50:49SPEAKER_04: You played with McGregor, didn't you?
- 50:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:51SPEAKER_04: I remember I had McGregor, captain of Celtic, him and Grealish at 18 came on loan to Knott's County, played Carlisle, and to this day my dad still says that was the best two performances he's seen.
- 51:02SPEAKER_03: I played against him.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: I was at Coventry at the same time.
- 51:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I always remember it because me and Callum were on loan too.
- 51:08SPEAKER_04: So you were at Coventry with Callum Wilson and that Callum Wilson.
- 51:10SPEAKER_04: You came and backed Carlisle five, four, five.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: It should have been ten.
- 51:14SPEAKER_05: I've been in a few of them.
- 51:15SPEAKER_03: What team that was.
- 51:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I've obviously wasn't playing, was I but um I Grealish and McGregor because we were on loan at the same time.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: He went not Scouting, I went uh Coventry.
- 51:25SPEAKER_03: Um but I the the Hearts thing, like I I understand that they've obviously not got the experience of winning the league that Celtic do, but what they have got is a few big characters in there who now could be strong, like your Shanklins, and obviously I know they've had a few injuries in the middle of the pitch.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: Carl Trialist, Shankon, do you know?
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: Was he?
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: Carl Trialists, but he went to air straight after, and I think that's where he went to hedge out air, he hit some goals.
- 51:54SPEAKER_05: I was quite shocked about his early career.
- 51:55SPEAKER_05: It was on open convention on the podcast, can't we?
- 51:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, it was on open goal, wasn't he?
- 51:59SPEAKER_05: And he didn't he he he the clubs he was at, you didn't really expect him to be at, and the way he's kicked on to what he is now is it's impressive, isn't it?
- 52:05SPEAKER_03: I think he's always had an act for like scoring goals, like now round about the box.
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: I think he can score a goal, but I think he was probably carrying a wee bit as well.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: He looked a wee bit heavier in in the early career, um, and again, just maybe circumstance just didn't really come off.
- 52:20SPEAKER_03: Like maybe the team wasn't great or the way they played, but then all of a sudden, I think it was Dun United.
- 52:25SPEAKER_03: You started scoring a few goals, and then obviously Hart's now he's a captain and he's flying.
- 52:29SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: Like thought Rangers certainly would have took him.
- 52:32SPEAKER_03: I think his age though, I think his age is probably I think.
- 52:36SPEAKER_03: See if it was for instance when I came through Rangers youth team, Walter Smith and that with the manager, Alan McCoy saw them boys, they'd assigned him in the heartbeat because they'd done it.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: They went and signed your Laffitty, your Chris Boys, Steve and these Scottish boys that you know that played in Scotland, go take them.
- 52:52SPEAKER_03: No point in spending six million on a boy feet Portuguese beat it.
- 52:55SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 52:56SPEAKER_03: It's like try and get them in.
- 52:58SPEAKER_03: Um they've done million percent sign them, but now football's moved to kind of sporting directors.
- 53:04SPEAKER_03: Now they need to go through about three different channels and put powerpoints together on the return investment and why we're spending this money or this kind of stuff.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 53:13SPEAKER_03: So they're probably thinking, well, we go spend say five million or whatever it was, four or five million, we pay them a decent wage as well.
- 53:21SPEAKER_03: Your score goals, but where how do we recoup that crap money back?
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 53:25SPEAKER_03: Like the people behind the scenes, yeah.
- 53:27SPEAKER_03: And that's probably bad, I think it's bad management.
- 53:30SPEAKER_04: They were saying Simon Jordan was saying, wasn't he, about Paqueta at West Ham.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: Someone was saying, like, you know, we put this on wages.
- 53:37SPEAKER_04: He went, Yeah, but to get you'd probably be worth about 12 million now.
- 53:42SPEAKER_04: So to get that back, I know you're costing you on wages, but to get that to great, it's actually good business for West Ham.
- 53:47SPEAKER_04: Whereas the fans were up in arms saying we signed him for 60, we're sold him for 12.
- 53:51SPEAKER_04: He went, yeah, but it's just three and a half years down the line.
- 53:53SPEAKER_04: So it's interesting that because Martin O'Neill seems to me on this chance of winning, he's gonna go off his nose, kind of he's gonna go with who he thinks he can get, yeah, and kind of bin that procedure of you know what, we've won in the win the league.
- 54:05SPEAKER_04: I need people who I know are gonna score from down to we don't want a project, we want to win the league.
- 54:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, they need to they need people to come in and start.
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: Do you know what I mean?
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: And start well.
- 54:13SPEAKER_04: I've got a great one for you.
- 54:15SPEAKER_04: Great one Hibbs fans.
- 54:18SPEAKER_04: I've seen this over the weekend.
- 54:20SPEAKER_04: Hart's win the league and England don't win the World Cup, or Hortz lose the league and England win the World Cup.
- 54:32SPEAKER_05: You can't win that.
- 54:34SPEAKER_04: So I've seen it was you should have as the question was asked to these hearts, uh hub supporters outside the ground, you've seen the turmoil in their faces.
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: They're like, we don't want Horse to win it, and we certainly don't want England to win it.
- 54:47SPEAKER_03: No, I don't think I think they'd take England winning it to be fair than Hart's winning it.
- 54:50SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 54:54SPEAKER_03: I know, I know, trust me.
- 54:56SPEAKER_03: It's coming home, man, every two years I hear it.
- 54:59SPEAKER_03: Um to be fair, like we've been brought up, well, my daughter's been brought up in England for a good few years now.
- 55:05SPEAKER_03: So she she see um during the Euros and stuff in the summer and that she was loving it.
- 55:09SPEAKER_03: Honestly, coming home from school and that, like Rangel flags singing the songs and all that, like and I just let it go on with it.
- 55:14SPEAKER_03: Like, that's no bother to me.
- 55:16SPEAKER_03: I'm going for a drive, that's it.
- 55:19SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, it's a good it's a good question.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: Um I think I think they would take England, I don't think they'd want the Hearts to win like because again, they're so close that it'd be every single day.
- 55:30SPEAKER_04: Oh it's a funny one with Celtic.
- 55:32SPEAKER_04: What about the Celtic if you've turned that round?
- 55:34SPEAKER_04: So if you're a Celtic fan, England to win it.
- 55:39SPEAKER_03: Would you rather Hearts have won it or Rangers won it if it wasn't Celtic?
- 55:42SPEAKER_03: If you were, who would you?
- 55:43SPEAKER_03: I for me personally, I'd rather Hearts won it, even though I've done well at Hibbs and stuff, but like obviously growing out a Celtic fan, Rangers your biggest rivals.
- 55:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I also played under McInnes.
- 55:55SPEAKER_03: I know how good a guy he is.
- 55:56SPEAKER_04: You see, you know what I like about McInnez, he got a great opportunity at Bristol City, and then he went back to Scotland, didn't he?
- 56:03SPEAKER_04: And kind of dotted around and I think.
- 56:04SPEAKER_04: And I always thought he could job, I always thought he'd come here.
- 56:07SPEAKER_04: For some reason, I always thought Carlisle, yeah, I always thought he might pop up here, but he's gone to Hart and and he's kicked on, and even if they don't win it, it's he's still had a great season.
- 56:18SPEAKER_04: No, he's phenomenal.
- 56:19SPEAKER_05: Didn't the owner get a bit ridiculed because he said in the in pre-season we're gonna win it, we're gonna split the whole forum, he said.
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: And then people weren't having it all within.
- 56:25SPEAKER_03: But it's that lad, innit, from Brighton, yeah, all the stats.
- 56:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's poker and that, innit?
- 56:30SPEAKER_04: He made his money through poker and stuff back in the day.
- 56:32SPEAKER_04: So he did.
- 56:32SPEAKER_04: And then they say how they sign people sometimes off them bat betting apps and that.
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: Well, McKinnon goes in a wee bit about it on the open goal thing, it's good listening like he kinda doesn't give you too much, but he's like roughly like how they work it and stuff, and anyone has played so many minutes or beyond this database, and then it comes up like a rating, like a score, and they won't sign anyone unless they're at a certain rating because they think like if we can fill a squad with enough, say sevens out of tens, then we've got a better chance of winning things and all that kind of thing.
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: But to be fair, like you can't.
- 57:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they got the winger that way, didn't they?
- 57:07SPEAKER_03: The winger who's doing well.
- 57:08SPEAKER_03: The boy Braga and stuff as well.
- 57:10SPEAKER_03: They signed them from down the league somewhere.
- 57:11SPEAKER_05: Like I enjoyed that game last week, Heart Celtic.
- 57:14SPEAKER_03: Brilliant.
- 57:14SPEAKER_03: There's a bit of needle in it, wasn't it?
- 57:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it wasn't really they stuck it on Celtic, yeah, and they didn't, and that was a lot of Celtic fans from obviously back home, not happy about it.
- 57:23SPEAKER_03: Like Hearts kind of stuck it on them.
- 57:25SPEAKER_03: He'll end up at Rangers.
- 57:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they did McKinnist end up at Rangers.
- 57:30SPEAKER_04: They should have done it a long time ago, shouldn't they have?
- 57:32SPEAKER_03: They should have.
- 57:33SPEAKER_04: I played at uh Ibrox, Ian Ferguson's testimonial.
- 57:36SPEAKER_04: Remember Ian Ferguson's testimonial, and I think McKinnist was just getting his move to West Brom, maybe this was 99.
- 57:42SPEAKER_04: Played against Barry Ferguson, but played against Michael Molles most, got his shirt signed at home.
- 57:50SPEAKER_04: But uh he got about 20 goals before Christmas or November and he'd done his cruciate in Man New already at Christmas.
- 57:57SPEAKER_04: I know it doesn't sound like a lot of money, but five million was going in from Molles to Man New.
- 58:01SPEAKER_04: That's big.
- 58:02SPEAKER_04: He'd done his cruciate, he never was the same when he came back.
- 58:05SPEAKER_03: Well, that's what obviously it was before marking a time, but people in like Glasgow watching the football back then, it was like Moles was unbelievable.
- 58:13SPEAKER_03: Like if he never got injured, he would have been like the way Larson that was for us.
- 58:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 58:17SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 58:18SPEAKER_03: Like that was all like he was going to be the one that was gonna go play like top teams in Europe and stuff, like really good player.
- 58:24SPEAKER_04: Right then, back on to Carlisle to finish off.
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, transfer windows available.
- 58:30SPEAKER_04: We've got till March, everyone.
- 58:32SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, we've got till March, but once this closes today for league clubs, we'll then find a lot more available.
- 58:41SPEAKER_04: So what the agents and stuff, yeah.
- 58:43SPEAKER_04: So for me, I'm thinking another midfielder, not sure we need a strike anyway.
- 58:48SPEAKER_03: What type of midfielder though?
- 58:49SPEAKER_03: Because it seems like he's playing like is it two setters?
- 58:52SPEAKER_03: Like, I think we need one, can it?
- 58:54SPEAKER_04: A galloper.
- 58:55SPEAKER_04: I think we need just you know, Botan, I don't know if you see Botan at um Botan at York, he used to play for Mansfield and Harimboat, something like that.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's a player, he's athletic, but he can play.
- 59:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's a nuisance, experienced, just legs in there as well.
- 59:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, there's nothing worse, is there?
- 59:16SPEAKER_04: We'll go the graveyard shift as a midfielder.
- 59:19SPEAKER_04: So a lot of the time Hughes has played a bit of a diamond, and there's nothing worse than being the left or right either side of a centre midfielder to go and close a fullback down.
- 59:30SPEAKER_04: I highly you can call the centre mid, you're not, are you on that?
- 59:34SPEAKER_04: You're not like a inside right, it's horrendous.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's not enjoyable.
- 59:38SPEAKER_04: And you're not getting on the ball because you're busy breathing out your arse after doing them.
- 59:41SPEAKER_03: I haven't go press the fullback.
- 59:42SPEAKER_04: I haven't go press the fullback.
- 59:44SPEAKER_04: Graveyard shift, uh the the winger, everyone's mentioned him.
- 59:47SPEAKER_04: I think they'll mention him on the social, the call out pod, mentioned after the game.
- 59:52SPEAKER_04: Reddin, was it?
- 59:53SPEAKER_04: Olding amonger.
- 59:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 59:55SPEAKER_04: He was excellent down there, and he came on the other day, and just little signs where you can go past the man, just you 22, 23 year old ex-villa, just you get out of jail ball, go on, run him.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_03: And then like a Linny, you'll come here and go, God, look at this club I'm at.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you need match winners, don't you?
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you need match winners, and I think that's probably when Lemmy was like battling goals in, do you know what I mean?
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_03: That's when Kaleo like looking great, do you know what I mean?
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_03: But that was playing the same as they are now, guy just he wouldn't be.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: That's what I mean.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_03: And it's probably teams doing the homework as well, isn't it?
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_03: When you think about it, if you were playing against Kaleo and looking at it, you'd be like, right, the main threats is that boy out in the left.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_03: And what does he want to do?
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_03: He wants to come inside and link up and shoot, right?
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna do everything we can to either one stop at getting there, or if it does, we're gonna like show him outside and say the inside.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_03: All that's so it's it's hard for him.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: So he's probably having to find solutions as well.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_03: To get into the game, change his game and stuff, hasn't he?
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's hard to kind of put your whole game plan on that.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_03: Um so yeah, it's it's having match winners in the team.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, keep us in, subkeep us in.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_04: Um defenders.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: I think we're right to them.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: I don't think you're gonna spend money there.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_04: The left back looks alright, settling down.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_04: Um, done alright Saturday.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_04: I think you've got cover with the right back.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_03: Who's been playing on right uh right back?
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_04: Williams moved back there on uh technically he's got the attributes of a player, hasn't he?
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_04: He just needs coach, coach, yeah, quick, aggressive, got the skill, athletics just needs coach some of his decision making, which comes with experience, yeah.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_04: But you've if we're gonna be demanding stuff, you know, we're he's 125, whatever, thousand sign, and we're in the national league, need a bit more, yeah.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_04: But he's someone who you think can can go.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_04: I like Darty Davis at times.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_04: I like I liked him.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: Is that so you've been on the bench and that?
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_03: Is he just not removed?
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_03: I don't know if it has any injuries.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_04: Has he gone?
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we'd have to uh we'll have to we'll have to do my research there.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't think he's gone yet.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_03: No, I think he's I think he's still there.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_03: I've not seen anything, but yeah.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_03: I like Darcy that's when he goes forward as well.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_03: Like he got he likes to step over and comes in the pitch and links up in that.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_04: The other way was when we're getting done the other way.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_04: So that's where Hughes has got to come to that kind of con Clark in play started today.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_05: Is he always all right for the weekend or not?
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_04: Too sure.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_04: We'll have to we'll have to see other Hughes doesn't give much away, does he?
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_03: For his next thing is no, he said he was he was he couldn't make the weekend there.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_04: So a big one before we go on to Rochdale, and then we'll wrap up.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_04: Offloading.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_04: So we get many supporters talking to us.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_04: Why is Jones?
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_04: Why is the Robsons?
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_04: Why is the Wheelans?
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: Why is the Embletons?
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_04: Why wouldn't they move on if they're not playing?
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_04: I know Embletons came back into it.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_04: Why wouldn't they move on?
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_04: And and why can't we shift them and why would they just not walk away from the contract?
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_04: So I'll let we'll have a little discussion.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, obviously there's different situations, do you know what I mean?
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_03: I think um obviously Jordan's been had little niggles, hasn't he, this season?
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_03: Like he's come in for a few and then picked up a little niggle here and there, um, which is frustrating I've been there myself, like he's frustrating, so probably not been feeling 100% for a good spell of time, do you know what I mean?
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_03: To get the best out of yourself.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_03: Um and it's one of them ones that if there was an opportunity to go maybe on loan or go somewhere else, you're not gonna even entertain it if you're not if you're not fully fit, do you know what I mean?
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_03: And training like consistently and and playing and stuff like that.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_03: You wanna rather you'd rather get yourself fit, do you know what I mean?
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_03: And know that you can you can bring something to the table.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_03: And um but I uh just him, I think obviously he's had a few niggles, so that is probably why it's been stopped starting.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_04: Would he consider it financially though?
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_04: Probably not.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_04: It's not his fault the contract he got given.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_04: Um let's you know he's on good, good money, and there's no way with his niggles, etc.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_04: He's gonna get it again, he's gonna get that again.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_04: It is age it's harsh.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_03: Like I know obviously you you know like the obviously caliber player you're bringing in, he's gonna be on like decent money and stuff, but when you actually think about it, it doesn't really matter.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_03: Like it doesn't.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_03: Like he's a player, he's available to play, then great, he plays, but if he's not then why is it because how much money he's on or whatever he's on is the big big problem.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_03: It's either like, well, he's not playing, or if he is playing, he's not been good enough, so we need to get rid of him.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_03: That's fine, that's a decision.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: But it's it doesn't mean like you get rid of him just because he's on good money.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think I think the pla the supporters think why wouldn't he go?
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_04: But I've I've tried to tell them sometimes that say a club come in, say I don't know, Hartley Pool come in for him and he's uncertain here and they go, right, we'll take you.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_04: Now he's not gonna drop a lot of wages to go there if they can come to some agreement, but or or Hartley Pool pay a little bit of it, he's gonna need a little bit of a payout from from Carlisle.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_04: He's never gonna just walk, or a player's never gonna just walk away from this two-year contract left, one year contract on on much, much bigger money, especially with the career you've got, you've got one career.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_04: They're not gonna do that.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_04: There's got to be some sort of uh when I came to to Carlisle, Barnsley said, We'll pay you last year, wherever you go, we'll pay your last year.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_04: I was like, fine.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_04: So I came to Carlisle and and worked as well.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_03: You know you're gonna take a hit, yeah, going, yeah, taking a step back really in football terms, like financially as well.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_03: Then again, circumstances it's see if someone come in up the leagues or whatever it was and be like, Right, we'll give you another two years.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_03: I'm not just talking about John Joe, I'm talking about anybody who's not really been involved recently.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_03: Then if you see that as like a kind of good step for you going forward, you obviously financially want to be kind of looked after as well, but yeah, football-wise, you're thinking, right, that's a good chance for me to go kick out here.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_03: Like Harry, for instance, do you know?
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_03: But if you're maybe getting offered like a team that kind of roundabout you or maybe three, four hours away from your home or something, like you've been you're not even going to entertain it, do you mean?
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_03: And you you think, well, I'll just wait, I'll just wait and see what happens and wait and see what happens.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_05: So luck comes into it, age, location, location.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, location to be thing for people, isn't it course?
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_04: We'll see how that goes this week.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_04: Right, last bit Rochdale Saturday.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_04: Bigger for them or bigger for us?
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_05: Obviously, it's big for both teams, isn't it?
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_05: I mean, Rochdale want to get these games in hand, they want to get the points on the ball, don't they?
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_05: But if Carlisle wanna hang on to the coattails of an outside chance of winning the league, I think they've probably got to win on Saturday, do they not?
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_04: I think we've got to go down there with the mentality.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_04: Don't get beat.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_05: Don't get beat.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_04: But if we can beat them, it sends suddenly.
- 1:06:36unknown: Yeah.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: I mean they've got games in hand, but you've got to win them games.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_04: They've got Tuesday night.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_04: You know, Rochardale have got games Tuesday.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_04: Who they got on Tuesday?
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_04: Is it Borumwood?
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_04: Boringwood, big game.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_04: Borough have gone a bit, but it's still a good sign.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_04: So they need Borough and Wood need to win if they've got aspirations.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_04: But Borum would are kind of living the dream this year as well.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_05: So Rochardale lose Tuesday and to Carlisle.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_05: It's completely different again, isn't it?
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_03: If Rochdale draw both, I think by next Saturday.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_03: That's what I think.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_03: Next Saturday Rochdale if Rochdale walk away with about 46 points out of their two games.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_03: And I think it'll be tough if Calliot will go win the league out of the back of that because especially if they don't win at the weekend, it's a big, big gap that if say that Rochdale won, that's what eight points.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_05: And another point.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_05: I mean they've had some couple of doings off York.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_03: But on the flip side, if again, it's football is a funny game in it.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_03: If Rochdale drop points on Tuesday night, bigger again for Kaleo at the weekend, say they won, they're right back in it.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_04: And then Rochdale will won it as you say, they'll probably pencil pencil in the three on Tuesday.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_04: If they don't get the three on Tuesday, then the pressure cranks up for the Saturday.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_03: Well, five days or whatever it is, there like Tuesday to Saturday, then it can completely flip.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_03: But I think next Saturday, in Kaleo's eyes, if you can get three points there, you're back in it.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_03: If you don't, then I think it'd be a tough task to go and challenge for that top space.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_04: So this time next week, big conversation on that.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_04: Huge.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_04: Right then.
