- 0:52Speaker 4: Welcome in OTB here on this Tuesday morning.
- 1:03Speaker 5: I love that.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Jake, Flynn, Alondra, Tay-Tay, all here with the inside of
- 1:08Speaker 3: the Raising Cane Studio. Of course, our Tuesday shows brought
- 1:12Speaker 3: to you by friends over at Community Steel, communitysteelco.com. Here
- 1:17Speaker 3: in Gonzales, Louisiana. It didn't go great. For what? The
- 1:26Speaker 3: black and gold last night. Was that last night? That
- 1:30Speaker 3: was last night. Did not go as planned.
- 1:36Speaker 5: I fell asleep before it was over, so in my head,
- 1:38Speaker 5: we won.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Well, who died?
- 1:41Speaker 6: I don't know when you went to sleep.
- 1:43Speaker 5: I dreamt it, so it happened.
- 1:46Speaker 2: She had an alternate ending. Yeah, alternate ending. Yeah. Because
- 1:51Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure they took the lead pretty quick.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Like 13 minutes left in the first.
- 1:55Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, it was 14-0 in the blink of
- 1:57Speaker 7: an eye, and then you're playing catch-up.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Jeez. Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 6: A couple things can be true.
- 2:05Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Love to hear this one.
- 2:08Speaker 5: He's going to try to make this.
- 2:10Speaker 2: They're actually the better team.
- 2:12Speaker 3: No, they're not.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Not right now.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Michael Penix Jr. changes the entire equation for that football team.
- 2:22Speaker 2: A lot of people wrote him off, and rightfully... I mean,
- 2:25Speaker 2: not rightfully, so.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I mean, both his knees were.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, both of his knees have exploded multiple times.
- 2:29Speaker 8: Right.
- 2:29Speaker 2: They have.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Yeah, they have.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And so.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's tough to come back from.
- 2:38Speaker 9: And I hope that– I hope just for, like, the
- 2:43Speaker 9: sake of loving quarterback play and the quarterback position and
- 2:47Speaker 9: respecting the hell out of what quarterbacks do, that he's okay. Like,
- 2:54Speaker 9: his knees can be good for the long term. I
- 2:58Speaker 9: just don't know. Like, he hadn't proven that in his career. But, man,
- 3:02Speaker 9: you're right.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You hit it. Like, that offense– is opened up with
- 3:06Speaker 2: him a quarterback for whatever the reason is.
- 3:08Speaker 9: I mean, it's not like he did anything overly exceptional
- 3:13Speaker 9: or impressive, just methodical found the open guy. But when
- 3:17Speaker 9: you can run the ball like that and you have
- 3:20Speaker 9: a very physical wide receiver that just throws people off
- 3:26Speaker 9: of them, then just get the ball to those guys.
- 3:30Speaker 3: It's, It says right here on this graphic on TV
- 3:33Speaker 3: as we're watching it, weeks one and two, 16 points
- 3:36Speaker 3: and seven turnovers for the Atlanta Falcons offense. Week threes
- 3:41Speaker 3: through four, 80 points with one turnover.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Is that good? It seems pretty good.
- 3:47Speaker 3: It's pretty good.
- 3:48Speaker 6: Michael Penix was 15 of 20, 223, 11.2 yards per attempt,
- 3:49Speaker 6: one touchdown, took one sack.
- 3:58Speaker 2: The Falcons also tied a Falcons team record last night.
- 4:01Speaker 3: A couple of them, I think.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Five rushing touchdowns.
- 4:03Speaker 5: This is depressing me.
- 4:06Speaker 9: Two Falcons had multiple rushing touchdowns, which is the second
- 4:09Speaker 9: time in team history. Last one was 1973. And second
- 4:14Speaker 9: straight game with 200-plus rushing yards. That's the first time
- 4:16Speaker 9: since 2010. So they did a nice job.
- 4:21Speaker 3: You know who didn't have 200-plus rushing yards? The New
- 4:26Speaker 3: Orleans Saints.
- 4:27Speaker 7: This team can't run the ball, man. This is honestly,
- 4:30Speaker 7: you go back to last year, it's been a little
- 4:32Speaker 7: bit of an issue under Kellen Moore, man.
- 4:33Speaker 3: That's why you signed a $ 53 million running back and
- 4:36Speaker 3: a very high-priced left guard.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Even with them, I mean, it hadn't.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Well, no, that's what I'm saying. You said going back
- 4:43Speaker 3: to last year, that's why you did it. It didn't matter.
- 4:47Speaker 9: That's kind of like when you watch Tyler Shuck play,
- 4:52Speaker 9: the things that he's doing is pretty exceptional.
- 4:57Speaker 2: To be able to do the things. Even last night,
- 5:01Speaker 2: I thought he played great. I thought Tyler Shuck played really,
- 5:04Speaker 2: really well.
- 5:05Speaker 3: He was 30 of 48, 286, one touchdown, took two sacks.
- 5:09Speaker 9: Just wasn't a lot of help out there. Those guys
- 5:13Speaker 9: did make some good catches.
- 5:14Speaker 3: His team had 19 carries for 50 yards. That's 2.6
- 5:19Speaker 3: yards per attempt for those keeping score at home.
- 5:23Speaker 7: Matt, to your point, per game, 56 passes in week one. 34, 42,
- 5:28Speaker 7: 48 last night. He's having to throw the ball 50
- 5:31Speaker 7: times a game because you can't do anything on the ground.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Saints averaged, what, 2.6 yards per attempt? Yep. I
- 5:39Speaker 2: would say.
- 5:41Speaker 9: The Falcons running backs were 2.6 yards down the field
- 5:47Speaker 9: before they even saw the other color.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Before contact. Before they ever saw a white jersey.
- 5:52Speaker 1: True.
- 5:52Speaker 3: It's not good.
- 5:57Speaker 9: Sometimes they were six, seven yards down the field before
- 6:00Speaker 9: they even got a finger on him. That running defense
- 6:05Speaker 9: was just embarrassing.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 6:08Speaker 10: Not only can you not run it, you can't stop
- 6:10Speaker 10: it either.
- 6:12Speaker 6: We talked about no Caden Ellis.
- 6:14Speaker 3: That was a big loss.
- 6:17Speaker 6: I'd say that he would have stopped it in.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Its totality, but certainly would have helped. And also.
- 6:27Speaker 6: I hate doing this.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I really do. Because, like, I hate just, like, singling
- 6:32Speaker 3: out and calling out players. But Kendre Miller, y'all, six
- 6:40Speaker 3: carries for nine yards, 1.5 yards per carry.
- 6:45Speaker 6: He fumbled the football away.
- 6:47Speaker 3: And I put this out there last night. I have never,
- 6:51Speaker 3: in my days of playing in the NFL or covering
- 6:54Speaker 3: the NFL, seen a third-round pick get more opportunities and
- 6:59Speaker 3: more run with less production. I've never seen it. It's
- 7:02Speaker 3: never happened. He must be a hell of a practice player.
- 7:06Speaker 3: But I've been around guys. You've been around guys where
- 7:09Speaker 3: they can have incredible practices and it never translates to
- 7:14Speaker 3: the game field. Never. And I've seen guys that can't
- 7:18Speaker 3: practice and are incredible players in the game. Seen that before, too.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Kendra must be an elite practice player. Has to be.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I have never seen a third-round pick get more opportunities
- 7:32Speaker 3: with less production in my life.
- 7:35Speaker 10: And we thought they were going to cut him this
- 7:38Speaker 10: last time.
- 7:39Speaker 2: They had to keep him because of injury. I assume,
- 7:42Speaker 2: I would think that it was part of probably part
- 7:48Speaker 2: of the plan for him not to be part of
- 7:51Speaker 2: the team.
- 7:51Speaker 11: Right.
- 7:51Speaker 2: But it just kind of had to, because.
- 7:53Speaker 7: Even then though you, you release estimate before he's able
- 7:56Speaker 7: to come back.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm like, I get it.
- 7:57Speaker 7: He's on a world beater, but like SME has been
- 7:59Speaker 7: a hell of a lot more productive in this offense
- 8:01Speaker 7: than country Miller has.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Even the fumble yesterday.
- 8:03Speaker 9: It wasn't like we see fumbles every week where there's
- 8:05Speaker 9: an incredible peanut punch. Like there's an awesome punch and
- 8:08Speaker 9: you're like, Oh my God. Like who's held. Nobody's holding
- 8:11Speaker 9: onto that ball. Cause no doubt defense is just getting
- 8:13Speaker 9: really good at that specific move. It was a great play. Um,
- 8:17Speaker 9: this wasn't even like a great play on the football.
- 8:21Speaker 3: This was a cornerback saying, I am going to be
- 8:24Speaker 3: the alpha on you right now.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:27Speaker 6: I'm just going to take this from you.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 6: As I'd never really seen anything like that before.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 6: I was a running back was going down.
- 8:34Speaker 9: I was like, you fumbled that one. That's the one
- 8:36Speaker 9: you decided to fumble. Now you're a professional football player.
- 8:39Speaker 9: You can't fumble that you're a professional running back. Whose
- 8:42Speaker 9: main goal is to hold onto the football. Excuses can
- 8:46Speaker 9: be made. With incredible defensive plays, you can be like, okay,
- 8:50Speaker 9: I get it. On to the next play. He should
- 8:53Speaker 9: have been– I'm sure they wanted to pull him from
- 8:56Speaker 9: the game and not let his cleats touch another blade
- 8:59Speaker 9: of grass inside the white lines. Or artificial grass inside
- 9:04Speaker 9: the white lines. That one very much frustrated me. And
- 9:08Speaker 9: he looked slow doing it. He didn't even look good
- 9:10Speaker 9: doing it.
- 9:11Speaker 11: I know.
- 9:12Speaker 3: And I know they're beat up and banged up and
- 9:15Speaker 3: just still. It's not just this year. It's– It's really
- 9:18Speaker 3: the totality of his career.
- 9:20Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 9:21Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 9:22Speaker 2: He's in year four. We get it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: I know.
- 9:25Speaker 6: I don't get it.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And you know what? He didn't play great.
- 9:29Speaker 9: But he played better than most of the people on
- 9:31Speaker 9: defense did. Let's be honest. There was worse plays throughout
- 9:36Speaker 9: the entire game than that one play for Kendrick Miller.
- 9:41Speaker 2: That defense. Oh, my goodness.
- 9:44Speaker 9: Nick Underhill is going to join the show a little
- 9:45Speaker 9: bit later. He can speak on it, maybe dive into
- 9:49Speaker 9: some of the numbers here and there. But, my God,
- 9:52Speaker 9: that run defense was disgusting. Now, credit where credit's due, that.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Line was mauling.
- 9:56Speaker 9: Do you have a mauling line with the best player
- 10:01Speaker 9: in the National Football League in B.
- 10:02Speaker 2: John Robinson? I know, I get it. I got a special,
- 10:07Speaker 2: but I'm telling you, I could have got about 75
- 10:10Speaker 2: yards rushing last night if my hamstrings would have made it.
- 10:16Speaker 3: If it makes... Kendre feel better. He wasn't the lowest
- 10:20Speaker 3: rated offensive player, only he was the next to last.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Oscar Delp was actually the lowest rated.
- 10:26Speaker 5: I was thinking Lance.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Kendre Miller, 41.3. Oscar Delp, 39.6. We had a little.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Scare with Olave, too.
- 10:37Speaker 3: I know.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Got hit in the knee a little.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Bit.
- 10:43Speaker 3: He's still really good.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Tyler Shuck, really good. Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Juwan Johnson.
- 10:48Speaker 9: Juwan Johnson, balling. A passing game, there's nothing really you can,
- 10:53Speaker 9: I mean, make a couple more plays.
- 10:56Speaker 5: The whole line is just so awful.
- 10:58Speaker 6: You want to hear the Saints' interior defense of lineman grades?
- 11:01Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, for sure. It's going to be really good.
- 11:04Speaker 8: 41.
- 11:04Speaker 2: High effort. High motor, guys.
- 11:06Speaker 8: 41, 30.2, 29.4, 28.4.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Too high. That's too high.
- 11:07Speaker 6: Bro, the dude who's 40 is overperforming.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Damn.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Jeez, Dave.
- 11:16Speaker 3: That was Nathan Shepard, 41.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Extend him for sure.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Quincy Riley, corner, was your lowest rated defensive player, 28.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Or 27, sorry.
- 11:27Speaker 7: We talked about this at the offseason. I thought they
- 11:29Speaker 7: did an awful job addressing corner. Didn't think they had
- 11:32Speaker 7: a number one corner on this team. Still don't think
- 11:34Speaker 7: they have a number one corner on this team. You
- 11:36Speaker 7: decided we're rolling with Kool-Aid, we're rolling with Quincy Riley,
- 11:39Speaker 7: we're going to see what happens, and I just don't
- 11:42Speaker 7: think it's worked.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I think they would have gone... They would have really
- 11:45Speaker 3: thought about Mansoor Delane at eight if he was still there.
- 11:49Speaker 3: But when he wasn't, that's when they pivoted to Jordan Tyson.
- 11:51Speaker 2: They had some quality guys, though, in the third round.
- 11:54Speaker 7: And I get people were excited about what he did, but, like,
- 11:56Speaker 7: did you need a third tight end and Oscar dealt
- 11:58Speaker 7: more than you needed a corner? Like, I just thought
- 12:00Speaker 7: they did a poor job in the draft on that.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It was a one-air.
- 12:03Speaker 9: I mean, this is, like, revisionist history a little bit, but, like,
- 12:07Speaker 9: you can look back and hindsight's always 20-20. But they
- 12:11Speaker 9: addressed the need in the top ten. that's their best
- 12:17Speaker 9: unit on the team, right?
- 12:19Speaker 3: Like, without him.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Like, the passing game is.
- 12:21Speaker 9: Objectively the only thing on this team that you're like, that's,
- 12:24Speaker 9: we're really good at that. Which didn't help the team,
- 12:29Speaker 9: but it, I think about how good they're, once he
- 12:33Speaker 9: does come back, but to y'all's point, everything else kind
- 12:37Speaker 9: of got exposed. And, like, look, let's, like, they got down,
- 12:43Speaker 9: got down early. Everybody plays a bad game. Like that's
- 12:46Speaker 9: sometimes you just run into a buzzsaw and that certainly
- 12:49Speaker 9: was them yesterday.
- 12:50Speaker 2: And you couldn't match it. You couldn't match the intensity.
- 12:54Speaker 9: You just played from behind the whole time from very early,
- 12:56Speaker 9: but let's, the saints have played well throughout the season.
- 13:00Speaker 9: So I guess there's a silver lining there. You got
- 13:03Speaker 9: your quarterback playing really well. The defense has played a
- 13:05Speaker 9: lot better than they did yesterday. Um, And you got
- 13:10Speaker 9: some good performance, but you're 1-3. That's the reality of
- 13:13Speaker 9: the situation. That stinks.
- 13:15Speaker 10: Aside from being 1-3, what also doesn't feel good is
- 13:20Speaker 10: that you didn't really take advantage of the moment. It's
- 13:24Speaker 10: like a primetime game, the only primetime game basically that
- 13:27Speaker 10: you have.
- 13:29Speaker 5: It's it. Yeah, and then it's the 20th anniversary of
- 13:32Speaker 5: coming back to the Dome. Drew Brees is there. They've
- 13:35Speaker 5: got this halftime show that, I mean.
- 13:38Speaker 10: Juvenile and Eric Church was a choice, but we can
- 13:41Speaker 10: revisit that later. But they have this, like, huge halftime show, primetime,
- 13:46Speaker 10: and the moment was too big for them.
- 13:47Speaker 5: And that's what also just does not feel good.
- 13:51Speaker 2: No.
- 13:52Speaker 7: Although it came out flat to that point.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Yeah, like, the first drive, they looked not good.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Like, they scored two.
- 14:00Speaker 10: Well, they're, like, the Saints' first drive. But, yes, Bijon
- 14:04Speaker 10: scoring within two minutes of the game.
- 14:06Speaker 2: That one guy got a little fingertip on him. He did.
- 14:08Speaker 7: He almost touched his shoulder. No, I just thought the
- 14:11Speaker 7: lack of effort on defense all night long. I understand
- 14:14Speaker 7: your defense isn't great, but there were guys that were
- 14:17Speaker 7: there and kind of backed off a little bit trying
- 14:20Speaker 7: to tackle B.
- 14:20Speaker 2: John Robinson. I thought it was a little embarrassing. There
- 14:23Speaker 2: was one man I saw playing his tail off every
- 14:26Speaker 2: single play. I was Chase Young. He loved Chase Young.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Played his tail off. I thought Cam and Chase Young
- 14:33Speaker 3: played their butts off. Cam, yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Cam's limited. Cam looks slow. I mean, he does. He
- 14:38Speaker 2: looks old and slow. And what?
- 14:41Speaker 11: What?
- 14:42Speaker 2: He does. Correct me if I am wrong, please. Don't
- 14:47Speaker 2: just say dang. Be like, no, he doesn't. Say it
- 14:51Speaker 2: with your chest out.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Rip.
- 14:52Speaker 2: No, he played great.
- 14:55Speaker 3: He did play hard.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He did play hard.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Cam gave you every ounce of everything he had. I
- 15:00Speaker 3: thought Sanker had a couple of moments.
- 15:02Speaker 4: He did.
- 15:03Speaker 3: He basically, at the end of the game, he's playing linebacker.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I mean, because they couldn't stop a nosebleed. So he's
- 15:09Speaker 3: up in the line of scrimmage basically as a safety.
- 15:12Speaker 3: But if you don't get better in the interior of
- 15:17Speaker 3: your defensive line, it's going to be rough. And I
- 15:22Speaker 3: know you're down some bodies. Everybody's down a couple bodies.
- 15:26Speaker 3: It just is what it is. You've got like Shepard
- 15:29Speaker 3: has been there. Boyd's been there. Gotchow's been there. Brodden's
- 15:35Speaker 3: been there. Like, they've all been there. It's not like
- 15:38Speaker 3: you signed a free agent off the street. That was tough.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I mean, Ridgeway played a little bit last night. I mean,
- 15:48Speaker 3: he didn't do anything.
- 15:49Speaker 5: I was excited for the game.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I was very excited.
- 15:53Speaker 5: Excitement killed two minutes in.
- 15:55Speaker 2: I picked up.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Memphis got done in baseball like at 6.50. I'm, like,
- 15:59Speaker 3: picking him up. I stop by the gas station, get
- 16:02Speaker 3: a couple snacks, get back in the car. As I
- 16:04Speaker 3: turn on the car, the 20, the 15, the 10,
- 16:07Speaker 3: the 5. I'm, like, who the hell's scoring already?
- 16:10Speaker 2: Kendra? Nope.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Kendra?
- 16:11Speaker 6: Wasn't Kendra.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Changed to the car, like, Saints are scoring.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I knew it. B.
- 16:15Speaker 6: John Robinson goes untouched.
- 16:17Speaker 7: Of course.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Oh, they touched. We just talked about it. We did
- 16:20Speaker 2: touch him.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Oh, he said untouched.
- 16:22Speaker 2: He got a little finger on his shoulder.
- 16:23Speaker 5: He didn't have his binoculars out.
- 16:25Speaker 7: Did you imagine Matty went to the sideline? He's like, coach, coach,
- 16:27Speaker 7: I touched him. You see him on good try?
- 16:30Speaker 2: Almost got him. No, but his feet missed him.
- 16:35Speaker 5: This is Helen's very soft spoken. They don't have any juice.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Well, the wins that you're going to have this year
- 16:43Speaker 2: are going to be fun, though, because you're going to
- 16:45Speaker 2: win 44-41. They're going to be excited.
- 16:49Speaker 5: I don't know. This isn't fun to me.
- 16:51Speaker 2: But we did win. The wins are going to be fun.
- 16:53Speaker 5: I thought I was going to have fun this season.
- 16:54Speaker 5: I'm not having fun.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Come on. It's only week four.
- 16:59Speaker 5: A whole lot of season left.
- 17:00Speaker 2: There's a lot of football left. That was just a
- 17:02Speaker 2: bad game. Let's wash it off. Wash our hands clean
- 17:04Speaker 2: of this one. That was just a bad game. Had
- 17:06Speaker 2: a bad day. Maybe the mumps.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Were running through the game.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Do we have the mumps?
- 17:12Speaker 7: I don't think the running game had a bad day, Matt.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I think they just had a day. That's just who
- 17:18Speaker 2: they are, bud. Falcons the other day.
- 17:20Speaker 10: You really think Kellen Moore is going to go in
- 17:22Speaker 10: there and, like, rip him a new one and be like,
- 17:24Speaker 10: we got to get together, guys.
- 17:25Speaker 5: No, he's going to go be a little nerd.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:28Speaker 10: Which is fine, but it's just there's no juice to it.
- 17:31Speaker 9: Just got to get back to the grind. Got to
- 17:34Speaker 9: watch the tape. Tyler Sheck, you didn't throw for 400.
- 17:40Speaker 9: If you did it, maybe we had a shot.
- 17:41Speaker 2: It's on you, buddy. Just kidding. He's really good. Top
- 17:47Speaker 2: five quarterback.
- 17:49Speaker 5: There were some plays last night that I was like.
- 17:53Speaker 3: In a good way or a bad way? You have
- 17:54Speaker 3: a quarterback.
- 17:55Speaker 5: In a bad way.
- 17:56Speaker 3: You have a quarterback that understands they can't do anything
- 17:59Speaker 3: on the ground.
- 18:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:00Speaker 3: So you have a quarterback that is trying to take
- 18:02Speaker 3: calculated risk, and he's trying to hit a deep box
- 18:06Speaker 3: he knows. That was at the end, like in the
- 18:07Speaker 3: fourth quarter. Yeah, and he kind of knows, like, there's
- 18:09Speaker 3: nothing we're.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Going to be able to do. Now, there were some
- 18:11Speaker 5: that I was like, oof, that's pretty.
- 18:12Speaker 2: He's a good player.
- 18:13Speaker 3: There's a couple of sacks he got away from.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Like, last night.
- 18:18Speaker 7: I thought he was dead to rights on a few
- 18:20Speaker 7: of them, and he just spun out.
- 18:21Speaker 9: It was a weird thing. I was watching that game,
- 18:23Speaker 9: and they're getting their butts whipped, right? But I'm watching
- 18:26Speaker 9: that game, and I'm like, I am very, like, overly
- 18:29Speaker 9: impressed with Tyler Shuck right now. Like, overly impressed with him.
- 18:34Speaker 2: And that's a very positive thing coming up.
- 18:36Speaker 3: And I'll tell you, okay, there was, like, very, very
- 18:39Speaker 3: few players that I was like, okay.
- 18:42Speaker 6: You're still good.
- 18:43Speaker 2: We're good.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I like you, buddy.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I like you.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Chuck's one of them. Chase Young's one of them. Cam's
- 18:47Speaker 3: going to be one of them because he did play
- 18:49Speaker 3: his butt off. Chris Alave is going to be one
- 18:51Speaker 3: of them. And Devon Vele.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Vele, yeah. Great catch.
- 18:55Speaker 3: For as long as we've been like, we were like, man,
- 18:58Speaker 3: it's trade. It's like you gave up some stuff and
- 19:00Speaker 3: you haven't been on the field. And, like, what did
- 19:02Speaker 3: you see? Well, I see it now. I see it now.
- 19:06Speaker 3: He is a great option to have.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Did you say Kamara? Kamara scored twice.
- 19:10Speaker 5: I was going to say, AK had some.
- 19:12Speaker 3: He did what he could do.
- 19:12Speaker 5: It wasn't running, but he had some.
- 19:14Speaker 3: He did okay.
- 19:15Speaker 2: He had two touchdowns. He called five passes out of
- 19:18Speaker 2: the backfield.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I've had games where I've had two touchdowns and played
- 19:20Speaker 3: like ish.
- 19:22Speaker 2: That's true.
- 19:23Speaker 5: I'm getting overly defensive.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Too late in my senior year.
- 19:26Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I had two touchdowns. Didn't play great at all.
- 19:28Speaker 7: At this point in his career, Alvin's a little bit
- 19:32Speaker 7: over the hill.
- 19:34Speaker 3: He's all right.
- 19:35Speaker 6: He got what the play was blocked for.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 3: And Kendra didn't do that, so to that point. I
- 19:42Speaker 3: did think AK was better in pass protection. I know
- 19:43Speaker 3: sometimes he struggles a little bit in there because he's
- 19:46Speaker 3: a route runner, but the Falcons were bringing numbers.
- 19:50Speaker 7: Who do we say we're going to go get? The
- 19:52Speaker 7: guy from the Chargers? Oh, Kamani Vidal.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Joe Mixon just got signed yesterday.
- 19:58Speaker 2: It's Tom.
- 19:59Speaker 3: By the Seattle Seahawks. So he's gone. The experiment's over. Tom,
- 20:04Speaker 3: go get you one.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Please, somebody. Get you one of them big I think
- 20:09Speaker 2: he has defensive linemen, too.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Yeah. The experiment's been over with one of the backs
- 20:14Speaker 3: for us for a while, just not them.
- 20:16Speaker 6: All right, we've got to take a break. We'll have
- 20:18Speaker 6: more on the Saints-Falcons Monday Night.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Football that we had high hopes for, but it did
- 20:24Speaker 3: not turn out the way we wanted. More OTB when
- 20:27Speaker 3: we come back.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Off the bench.

- 21:46Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU football 24-7. You're listening to Off
- 21:50Speaker 1: the Bench.
- 21:51Speaker 8: All right, welcome back in, OTB. Here on this 80s Tuesday.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I think it's Tuesday.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Yep, it's Tuesday. Broke our necks this morning.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Oh, we did break our necks. Metaphorically.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we wouldn't be here if we... Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Our guy Buster. We're in desperate need of it.
- 22:33Speaker 6: His name is definitely Buster.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Buster. He always... Old Buster. That's how we start every Tuesday.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Normally.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Sometimes we forget.
- 22:42Speaker 9: And it shows. Hey, got a quick question for you.
- 22:47Speaker 9: If there was a problem, yo, I'll solve it. Is
- 22:52Speaker 9: Baker Mayfield the worst quarterback in the NFC South?
- 22:56Speaker 2: This year, yeah.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Try saying that a month ago.
- 23:04Speaker 7: I mean, try saying the Bucs roster is by far
- 23:08Speaker 7: the worst in the NFC South.
- 23:11Speaker 2: To extend it.
- 23:13Speaker 9: See, Baker lost his powers when he tried to be
- 23:18Speaker 9: this the guy that was like not gonna do it
- 23:22Speaker 9: by the time i'm a man of my word you're
- 23:24Speaker 9: not gonna get it done by this we're not doing
- 23:26Speaker 9: it he kind of chickened out because he did sign
- 23:30Speaker 9: the contract even after he said he wasn't going to
- 23:33Speaker 9: he lost a lot of his powers then.
- 23:34Speaker 10: He blinked he blinked he was like he did and then.
- 23:38Speaker 9: He had all his aura like at the time it
- 23:41Speaker 9: was like get the contract done before training camp or
- 23:44Speaker 9: it's not going to get done i'm not doing it
- 23:46Speaker 9: after right And we were like, that fits. That fits
- 23:49Speaker 9: Baker's personality. And then three weeks later, oh, lo and behold.
- 23:54Speaker 2: He lied.
- 23:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 9: And that doesn't fit his personality. He lost a lot
- 23:59Speaker 9: of his aura there. And I think he lost his
- 24:01Speaker 9: powers for the season.
- 24:02Speaker 7: Maybe that's why the other line decided to stop block.
- 24:05Speaker 7: They lost the respect, too. So they were like, you
- 24:07Speaker 7: know what? We're going to just let everybody through.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Hey, whether you know it affects you, I think it does.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I think you're on to something.
- 24:17Speaker 9: And he is the fourth best quarterback in a four-team division. See,
- 24:22Speaker 9: even in high school, I was at least the third.
- 24:25Speaker 2: True. He's not even honorable mentioned.
- 24:29Speaker 3: All division.
- 24:31Speaker 2: What a loser. They should have all division teams. That'd
- 24:33Speaker 2: be fun. That would actually kind of be fun. You
- 24:36Speaker 2: could put it on the letter jackets. That'd be sweet.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Letter jackets.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Biggest shame in the world? Some are asking.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Oh, that's awesome.
- 24:48Speaker 3: It's awesome in your closet?
- 24:50Speaker 9: Yeah, they're sweet, though, at the time. They're not, like,
- 24:53Speaker 9: cool for life, but, like, they're cool at that time.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Why not?
- 24:56Speaker 6: How many times have you worn your Letterman jacket?
- 24:58Speaker 2: I wore it all the time in high school. Everybody did.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 25:03Speaker 2: What about your LSU Letterman jacket? I wore it once
- 25:05Speaker 2: to a costume party.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Teen Wolf?
- 25:09Speaker 2: It was an 80s deal. Mullet, letter jacket.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Jeans my whole i'm just saying like like they are
- 25:16Speaker 3: very expensive yeah they.
- 25:18Speaker 7: Are it's juice worth the squeeze oh dude i mean
- 25:22Speaker 7: when we were in we were in school.
- 25:23Speaker 6: I think they're good like high school sure i didn't
- 25:26Speaker 6: i don't think.
- 25:27Speaker 7: How they would get us they're like you can customize
- 25:29Speaker 7: it you can pick what kind of leather you want
- 25:31Speaker 7: on your sleeve oh we had all this like a form.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Yeah you'd like a form to fill.
- 25:36Speaker 9: Out get tony llama sleeves on there pay for them
- 25:39Speaker 9: in college no we earned them we earned them they
- 25:42Speaker 9: That was our perk back in the day.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Okay, so you got boys in high school. What's a
- 25:46Speaker 2: leather jacket go for these days?
- 25:47Speaker 3: It's pretty expensive. A couple hundred bucks. Yeah, I was
- 25:51Speaker 3: going to say, it's got to be around $ 300. What,
- 25:52Speaker 3: you think it's going to.
- 25:53Speaker 7: Be $ 30?
- 25:56Speaker 3: If it was something that cost a couple hundred bucks
- 25:59Speaker 3: but got worn every day, I wouldn't care.
- 26:02Speaker 2: They don't wear them. They should wear them.
- 26:04Speaker 6: The twice a year it's cold enough to wear.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I mean, come on now.
- 26:09Speaker 7: Ours came in spring of my junior year, so I
- 26:13Speaker 7: really wore it December to February of my senior year.
- 26:17Speaker 6: I was just asking a question. Don't get defensive.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I didn't know you owned a letter jacket.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I'm a big letter jacket fan.
- 26:23Speaker 6: You said you've worn your LSU in once to a
- 26:26Speaker 6: costume party.
- 26:26Speaker 9: I'm high school letter jackets. Honestly, when I got my
- 26:29Speaker 9: letter jacket at LSU, I was like, oh, they give
- 26:31Speaker 9: these here?
- 26:32Speaker 6: You wore that honorable mention all-district patch jacket out in public?
- 26:37Speaker 2: With pride.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Hey, guess who was the second highest rated defensive player
- 26:44Speaker 3: for the Atlanta Falcons with an 82.2 yesterday?
- 26:47Speaker 2: I mean, probably somebody that didn't play for LSU, right?
- 26:52Speaker 3: Funny enough, he's somebody that played for LSU on three
- 26:55Speaker 3: different levels.
- 26:56Speaker 2: On the worst LSU defense in the history of the program?
- 26:59Speaker 3: That was Harold Perkins Jr.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Played 52 of the 74 defensive plays. 82.2.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Had a coverage grade of 83.3, the best of the Falcons.
- 27:19Speaker 2: As we punch air.
- 27:20Speaker 7: His coverage grade? I mean, that's impressive. I mean, that
- 27:25Speaker 7: was a big knock on him.
- 27:26Speaker 2: When he was here.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Although I never understood that either. That's why he played
- 27:30Speaker 3: the nickel position last year because he could cover. Anyways,
- 27:35Speaker 3: I thought that was.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Something. That was something.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Where are we going to play this guy?
- 27:46Speaker 9: I just, like, the more days I go by, I know, like,
- 27:51Speaker 9: you have to, you just got to put one foot
- 27:55Speaker 9: in front of the other.
- 27:55Speaker 2: You got to keep moving forward in life.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Hell yeah, brother.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Yeah, hell yeah. Got to.
- 28:00Speaker 9: Print the bumper sticker. But, like, I always find a
- 28:04Speaker 9: way at least three times a week to dislike Brian
- 28:09Speaker 9: Kelly more. I know I've got to move forward, and
- 28:15Speaker 9: we're in a better place. I said it two weeks ago.
- 28:22Speaker 9: Texas A & M, you're okay with me. I thank
- 28:25Speaker 9: you for your service last year. I appreciate it. Oh,
- 28:30Speaker 9: my God.
- 28:31Speaker 2: The amount of people that have success during Brian Tenney's career,
- 28:34Speaker 2: like during Brian Kelly's tenure here, the amount of players
- 28:39Speaker 2: that have had success in the NFL that Did not
- 28:42Speaker 2: even come close to scratching the surface.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Are you talking about guys like Omar Spates, who we
- 28:48Speaker 3: were told couldn't play, and he starts for the L.A.
- 28:52Speaker 6: Rams for the last three years?
- 28:54Speaker 7: Well, the Rams aren't that good, so I'll give a
- 28:57Speaker 7: pass on that one. I saw the Bucs game the
- 29:02Speaker 7: other day. The guy with his hand in his dirt,
- 29:04Speaker 7: getting pretty physical at the tight end position.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Hooked up, power sharp.
- 29:08Speaker 7: Huh.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Weird. That's probably it. Missed on a couple.
- 29:17Speaker 9: Coaches aren't perfect, you know? Anyway, it drives me crazy.
- 29:24Speaker 9: Where are we going to put, like, there's just no
- 29:27Speaker 9: place to put them on defense. We can't figure out
- 29:30Speaker 9: where to put them. Yeah, well, the NFL figured it
- 29:34Speaker 9: out in four weeks. And it's a better league than
- 29:38Speaker 9: college to figure.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Are wondering.
- 29:43Speaker 3: I figured. Yeah, more talented guys. Older, smarter. Yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 29:51Speaker 11: Anywho.
- 29:51Speaker 9: No reason to get upset about it now, except that
- 29:54Speaker 9: they beat the Saints yesterday and he played really well.
- 29:57Speaker 3: He did.
- 29:57Speaker 2: He played well. Second highest graded player on the team
- 30:00Speaker 2: Had half a sack, too.
- 30:03Speaker 3: So the thing about the Saints now after this loss, okay, well,
- 30:12Speaker 3: what's down the road? What does it look like in
- 30:14Speaker 3: the near future? When we come back, we'll tell you
- 30:18Speaker 3: what that looks like. And let's just say it's a
- 30:22Speaker 3: little bit of a bear. And we'll tell you who
- 30:25Speaker 3: that is, where those games will be played when we
- 30:27Speaker 3: come back here on OTB.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Off the Bench.
- 30:35Speaker 11: If you need.
- 30:47Speaker 4: A friend Don't look to a stranger.
- 31:00Speaker 10: Off the.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented by Community Steel.
- 31:20Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in. OTV here live from the
- 31:24Speaker 3: Raising Cane studio. So anytime that Cole Kublik is on
- 31:32Speaker 3: a LSU call, he brings me a stack of fullback cards.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Anybody that's played fullback or fullback adjacent in the NFL.
- 31:39Speaker 3: And so I was opening those up in studio, and
- 31:42Speaker 3: I got this pretty sweet Natron Means card in his
- 31:46Speaker 3: Chargers uniform, right? Clear, little clearly card, see-through. I was like, ah,
- 31:53Speaker 3: look at this sweet Natron Means card, Flynn.
- 31:56Speaker 8: Mm-hmm.
- 31:58Speaker 3: He didn't know who Natron Means was.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Was he a running back's coach for North Carolina?
- 32:06Speaker 6: The one you just Googled?
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yep.
- 32:08Speaker 3: And he played at North Carolina, too.
- 32:09Speaker 2: He was a running back's coach, too.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Like, how do you not remember him in the 90s?
- 32:13Speaker 3: He was, like, the big power back, had a sweet visor. Like,
- 32:18Speaker 3: one of the first guys I remember having, like, a
- 32:19Speaker 3: dark visor.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Played a while, huh? A long time. Honestly, he didn't
- 32:25Speaker 2: play for the.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Cowboys or the 49ers. I probably didn't know who it was. Yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 2: how many?
- 32:32Speaker 7: Eight years.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I had a mean Natron means Jags jersey. Okay, well,
- 32:45Speaker 3: you also weren't born when he was playing, to be fair.
- 32:48Speaker 5: I was not, but I don't know who he is.
- 32:52Speaker 6: Tay-Tay, help me out here.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Well, Taylor wasn't born either.
- 32:56Speaker 3: You remember Natron Means, though. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:58Speaker 2: That's what we were just talking about.
- 32:59Speaker 7: But also, my first discovery of Natron Means was one
- 33:02Speaker 7: of my football cards.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, I didn't see him play live, but yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 6: You remember Mike Tolbert, right, that I played with? This
- 33:12Speaker 6: was Mike Tolbert.
- 33:13Speaker 2: That was early Mike Tolbert. Big boy.
- 33:18Speaker 3: He was back there toting that thing.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Means was nicknamed Natron Refried Means. Yeah. Oh, that's an
- 33:23Speaker 2: awesome nickname.
- 33:23Speaker 3: That's pretty sweet.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's a good name.
- 33:25Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Refried Means. Natron Means Business.
- 33:30Speaker 3: It looked like he enjoyed some Natron Means.
- 33:33Speaker 2: He was nicknamed Natron Means Business by Chris Burman. That tracks.
- 33:40Speaker 2: That tracks.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 2: That's my golf partner, Chris.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Chris, go back. That's where you saved Tyler Shuck's life.
- 33:45Speaker 3: That's exactly right. You're welcome.
- 33:48Speaker 2: All right.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Well, getting back to the Saints.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I mean, it's classic name dropping.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Pick those names up as you drop them.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Wow.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Seriously, Chris Burb is just.
- 33:58Speaker 3: It's like Marler going back and liking a text three
- 34:02Speaker 3: hours later.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Marshall Falk won it, no big deal. Didn't he win it?
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah, he did.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Cubes was there. Super Chef Bobby Flay. Super Chef Bobby
- 34:09Speaker 2: Flay was there.
- 34:14Speaker 5: We get it.
- 34:17Speaker 2: It was almost too much. Oh, Saints stink.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Coming up for the New Orleans Saints, it is going
- 34:27Speaker 3: to be the Minnesota Vikings at home. Their defense is
- 34:33Speaker 3: pretty good. It's going to be the New York Giants
- 34:37Speaker 3: on the road. They're 3-1.
- 34:39Speaker 6: It's going to be the Pittsburgh Steelers in France.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Playing in Paris.
- 34:46Speaker 5: We need to go to that one.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Then it's going to be the Cleveland Browns at home.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:51Speaker 5: Am I trying to sponsor that?
- 34:54Speaker 2: For sure. You work huge in France.
- 34:56Speaker 5: I mean, do you not want to have an international market?
- 35:00Speaker 5: You don't want to hydrate the world?
- 35:02Speaker 2: French don't care about their bodies.
- 35:03Speaker 5: That's fair, actually.
- 35:11Speaker 2: So you're saying it doesn't get easier?
- 35:13Speaker 3: No, I'm saying exactly that, yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Well, you thought that the Falcons were going to be bad.
- 35:19Speaker 2: That's the problem.
- 35:20Speaker 5: You thought the whole division.
- 35:21Speaker 6: Was going to be good. That was pretty good.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Minnesota's 4-0 with an incredible defense. The Giants are 3-1
- 35:28Speaker 3: and just finding ways. The Steelers game is going to be,
- 35:31Speaker 3: as we mentioned, in Paris. Then you've got the 3-1
- 35:35Speaker 3: Cleveland Browns. That game looks completely different now. It doesn't.
- 35:43Speaker 6: It just, the Panthers, then at the Bears, at the Bengals.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Can we go back to playing the Lions and the Ravens?
- 35:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 5: Seriously.
- 35:53Speaker 9: It's funny how just the preseason outlook just never matches
- 35:58Speaker 9: what actually happens. This is not going to be a
- 36:01Speaker 9: really tough stretch now. And beforehand, you didn't really think
- 36:04Speaker 9: of the Raiders, the Falcons, those guys.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Yeah, we got it.
- 36:07Speaker 2: We got this. The way they're looking, are you kidding me?
- 36:09Speaker 2: Got the Browns a couple weeks after that. Dude, you
- 36:12Speaker 2: can't stop the Browns. We're going to dominate.
- 36:13Speaker 7: With the Browns. Who is their best offensive player, arguably?
- 36:16Speaker 7: Quinch on Judkins. They're going to run the ball a lot. Well, actually,
- 36:21Speaker 7: it's kind of.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Been struggling a little bit. It's been Watson to Denzel
- 36:25Speaker 3: Boston and Harold Fanon and Casey Concepcion.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Either way.
- 36:30Speaker 7: What corner do you have on your team? You're confident
- 36:32Speaker 7: that can cover six for Denzel Boston.
- 36:38Speaker 2: You know, we all have choices.
- 36:41Speaker 5: So Kool-Aid.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Look, we have a choice. We have a choice to make.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Kool-Aid's got a cool name.
- 36:47Speaker 2: He does.
- 36:48Speaker 5: So, Denzel.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Yeah, he's changed his number a lot, guys. Yeah.
- 36:53Speaker 5: God, he has.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Three times?
- 36:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:58Speaker 9: So, we can either sit here as fans, as a
- 37:03Speaker 9: wolf pack, and we can point out all the flaws,
- 37:07Speaker 9: or we can say, you know what?
- 37:09Speaker 5: Let's ride.
- 37:10Speaker 2: There's a lot of football left to be played.
- 37:12Speaker 5: I hate that.
- 37:13Speaker 2: You know what? You got a really good quarterback. Passing
- 37:16Speaker 2: game's really good.
- 37:17Speaker 9: Might get your first-round pick back pretty soon.
- 37:21Speaker 2: You know what?
- 37:21Speaker 9: There's a lot of looking up. A lot of 40,
- 37:23Speaker 9: like I said, 44, 41 wins coming, and they're going
- 37:26Speaker 9: to be exciting. Tyler Shook might end the year with
- 37:30Speaker 9: the most passing yards in the NFL because he's got
- 37:33Speaker 9: to throw.
- 37:34Speaker 2: It 40 times.
- 37:35Speaker 5: Good for him. What does that matter if you're not winning, though?
- 37:39Speaker 2: Oh, we're going to.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Okay.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Like I said, we've got a choice to make. We
- 37:43Speaker 2: just acknowledge– That there's flaws.
- 37:46Speaker 6: Sometime God makes that choice for you, bud.
- 37:48Speaker 9: We're going to acknowledge that's not a perfect team. And
- 37:51Speaker 9: we're not going to win the Super Bowl. But we
- 37:54Speaker 9: can have fun. We're going to have fun with a
- 37:56Speaker 9: good offense.
- 37:57Speaker 3: You're running the football for 88 yards a game.
- 38:00Speaker 5: I was going to say, like, good offense. Wouldn't that
- 38:04Speaker 5: entail a good run game?
- 38:06Speaker 2: Doesn't have to. Ask Mike Leach. Okay, Matt, who was your.
- 38:11Speaker 5: All right, Aaron, let's go. Let's do it.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Who were your.
- 38:14Speaker 7: Top four players in the power rankings last week, quarterbacks.
- 38:18Speaker 2: It was Purdy, Mahomes, Allen, and was it Lamar at four? No,
- 38:24Speaker 2: I think it was Burrow. That was the one I
- 38:27Speaker 2: struggled with.
- 38:28Speaker 7: Christian McCaffrey, Kenneth Walker, James Cook, Chase Brown. All of
- 38:33Speaker 7: those quarterbacks have really good running backs. Talishuk doesn't have that.
- 38:38Speaker 7: He has nothing to fall back on.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I mean, yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 9: I mean, running games are pretty cool to have as
- 38:47Speaker 9: a quarterback. We don't have it, even though you invested
- 38:51Speaker 9: in it. God, how good were we feeling when that
- 38:55Speaker 9: move was made in the offseason? All those moves for
- 38:57Speaker 9: the running game. We were like, this is awesome. They're
- 39:00Speaker 9: doing the right things, and I still feel like they're
- 39:01Speaker 9: doing the right things. It's just not playing out.
- 39:06Speaker 3: All right, we'll take a break. We've got more OTB
- 39:08Speaker 3: when we come back here live from the Raising Cane Studios.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Off the bench.
- 39:13Speaker 3: All right, go to FABT.com. FABT.com. First American Bank and Trust.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Been in the game for over a hundred years. Well,
- 39:21Speaker 3: over a hundred years. And they're going to be there
- 39:23Speaker 3: for you. You are a relationship to them. You are
- 39:26Speaker 3: a face. You are a name. You're not just another
- 39:28Speaker 3: account number. And look, they're going to have all the bells,
- 39:31Speaker 3: all the whistles, all the online banking technology of any
- 39:35Speaker 3: national bank. But decisions are going to be made right
- 39:38Speaker 3: here in South Louisiana. They don't call and ask for
- 39:41Speaker 3: permission somewhere else.
- 39:42Speaker 6: Go to FABT.com today.
- 39:44Speaker 9: All right, First American Bank and Trust, First American Bank
- 39:47Speaker 9: and Trust. If you go to fabt.com, you can go
- 39:49Speaker 9: check out a little bit more about their bank and
- 39:52Speaker 9: just notice and see how they have everything that a
- 39:55Speaker 9: big national bank has. It's just right here in Louisiana.
- 39:58Speaker 9: Been doing business with Louisiana families, Louisiana businesses since 1910.
- 40:03Speaker 9: So if you want to walk into a branch and
- 40:05Speaker 9: shake someone's hand, look someone in the eye that's going
- 40:07Speaker 9: to be the decision maker, not somebody in New York
- 40:09Speaker 9: City or that left coast, go to First American Bank
- 40:11Speaker 9: and Trust, fabt.com.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 40:33Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Close my eyes.
- 40:36Speaker 8: But I couldn't find a way.
- 40:39Speaker 11: So I'll settle for one.
- 40:42Speaker 8: Day to believe in you. Tell me lies about the Saints, please.
- 41:32Speaker 5: They have a great run game. Defense, mean, tough, nasty.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Fiscal. Kendre, I mean, yeah, Kendre, all pro. Kool-Aid lockdown corner.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Probably going to make the playoffs.
- 41:49Speaker 2: You control your own destiny. A lot of season left.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.
- 41:58Speaker 3: The Cincinnati Bengals are 31st in the NFL and rushing 74.3
- 42:03Speaker 3: yards per game.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:08Speaker 3: 32nd in the NFL. It's not the Saints. Green Bay Packers,
- 42:13Speaker 3: 58 yards. They're almost 20 yards behind 31st.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Look at their records.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Houston, 30th. So, 30th. 32nd. How about that? Bengals.
- 42:31Speaker 9: Bengals have, like, figured it out, too, on defense a
- 42:34Speaker 9: little bit. And they still got the passing game. If
- 42:40Speaker 9: they can figure out the run game, they're going to
- 42:41Speaker 9: be pretty deadly.
- 42:42Speaker 2: I didn't. I wouldn't have ever guessed them at 31. Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Not with Chase Brown.
- 42:48Speaker 2: The Alons still really bad. But can I figure it out?
- 42:52Speaker 6: Kansas City Chiefs have the best yards per carry.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Oh, my God. What, like 30?
- 42:58Speaker 3: Five and a half.
- 43:00Speaker 2: That guy's on pace. I looked at him yesterday.
- 43:02Speaker 9: He's on pace for just shy of 2,300 yards on
- 43:03Speaker 9: the season. Is that okay?
- 43:05Speaker 2: It's decent.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Is that a pretty good signing? You basically signed him
- 43:15Speaker 3: for what you gave A-Chain.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I think I checked yesterday. I think he's 10th.
- 43:22Speaker 7: I think he's actually behind A-Chain in average annual salary.
- 43:26Speaker 7: And there ain't 10 running backs better than him.
- 43:30Speaker 2: I almost said there isn't one, but yeah.
- 43:37Speaker 6: Total value of the deal now, it's three years to
- 43:39Speaker 6: four years.
- 43:40Speaker 3: The annual salary for Travis Achan is $ 12 million. Kenneth
- 43:48Speaker 3: Walker is $ 14. 3 per year.
- 43:49Speaker 12: Walker was $ 3 for $ 43 million. Achan's $ 4 for $ 48 million.
- 43:59Speaker 12: Guaranteed money, 28 for Walker, 24 for HN. So not
- 44:07Speaker 12: completely dissimilar deals right there with each other.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Tight. Cool. It's been a really, I feel like a
- 44:17Speaker 2: really uplifting hour of radio.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Has it?
- 44:21Speaker 2: Yeah. All right.
- 44:23Speaker 6: Glad we could do that.
- 44:24Speaker 9: I mean, that's what happens when the whole city comes alive.
- 44:29Speaker 9: There's so much buildup to this game. The whole country's watching.
- 44:33Speaker 9: First primetime game. It probably feels like a decade.
- 44:37Speaker 3: And you.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Oh, it's fine.
- 44:38Speaker 6: You'll get them back that next one you've got this year.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 3: You lay a big old wet fart out there. Not
- 44:46Speaker 3: a wet one.
- 44:47Speaker 2: A wet one.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Hour two.
- 44:49Speaker 6: Coming back.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Off the bench.
