- 0:00Speaker 1: You're watching a peak inside Gator football alley peak, hanging
- 0:03Speaker 1: out with the film guy, Brooks Austin.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This is presented by prize picks.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Okay.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Before we talk Florida Ole Miss, you got to be
- 0:10Speaker 1: at the LSU Ole Miss game. Tell me a little
- 0:12Speaker 1: bit about what that was like, how through the TV,
- 0:15Speaker 1: that environment seemed absolutely insane.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Yeah, we, we talked about it on our Sunday reaction
- 0:20Speaker 4: show and I met the football ops guy out there,
- 0:23Speaker 4: the director of marketing or whatever. They do such a
- 0:26Speaker 4: great job from an in-game environment perspective, particularly for these
- 0:31Speaker 4: night games. I don't know how it works during day games,
- 0:33Speaker 4: but every TV timeout, the whole stadium goes dark. Fireworks
- 0:38Speaker 4: are popping all over the place. Drone shows left and right.
- 0:42Speaker 4: They do such a great job of maintaining that intensity
- 0:46Speaker 4: throughout the entire football game. So, yes, there are 68,000
- 0:50Speaker 4: seats in that stadium, and I'm sure there will be 78,000
- 0:54Speaker 4: within the next calendar year because they got the investment
- 0:58Speaker 4: and the buy-in into winning culture out there. So I'm
- 1:00Speaker 4: sure stadium expansions are in the works, but that place
- 1:04Speaker 4: is really, really intense. It's really loud. I felt this
- 1:07Speaker 4: in 2024 when I was out there for the Georgia
- 1:09Speaker 4: game that they stormed the field for.
- 1:12Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:12Speaker 4: It's a lot like Knoxville in the sense that I
- 1:15Speaker 4: don't think they priced the common fan out of that place.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah. And it's not just like hoity-toity environment. It is nasty.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It is loud. It is mean. It's intense.
- 1:27Speaker 4: So, yeah, you could feel it on TV, but you
- 1:29Speaker 4: certainly could feel it inside the stadium as well. And
- 1:32Speaker 4: it's also got a little bit of Auburn to it
- 1:34Speaker 4: in the sense that, like, the speakers that they have
- 1:37Speaker 4: in that place are ridiculously loud.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Um, so yeah, they got a.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Lot going for them from a standpoint of stadium operations, intensity,
- 1:47Speaker 4: and just general feel of, uh, that they're on top
- 1:51Speaker 4: of you the entire time for a stadium that only,
- 1:53Speaker 4: you know, holds 68,000. I think it's in that bottom
- 1:56Speaker 4: third in terms of total capacity in the conference, but those,
- 2:00Speaker 4: those people get after it, man. Um, a lot, a
- 2:03Speaker 4: lot of false starts, a lot, a lot of, uh,
- 2:05Speaker 4: you know, crowd impact on that football game for sure.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Fully appreciated the song choices of calling Baton Rouge followed
- 2:12Speaker 1: by neck. It was, you know, chef's kiss there. Okay,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but let's talk a little bit about Florida. I watched
- 2:18Speaker 1: your review of Florida's offense against Auburn. And, you know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you kind of came away from that tape saying like,
- 2:25Speaker 1: all right, this is a really, really good offense. And
- 2:28Speaker 1: they didn't even play particularly well at times. What did
- 2:32Speaker 1: you see on film that makes you believe what Florida
- 2:35Speaker 1: did against Auburn is sustainable against a better defense that
- 2:38Speaker 1: they're going to see against Ole Miss?
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's the same stuff that Buster's always
- 2:42Speaker 4: done just with elite talent, particularly at the skill position portions.
- 2:46Speaker 4: But when you prepare for Buster as a defense, like,
- 2:51Speaker 4: there's such volume. There's such things there and everything's tied
- 2:55Speaker 4: to one another too.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Right?
- 2:56Speaker 4: Like all of the amount of run fits that we
- 2:59Speaker 4: have to get prepared for all of the different passing concepts,
- 3:03Speaker 4: all of the different screen game, like they're not, you know,
- 3:06Speaker 4: Mississippi state's getting you with a bunch of speed and
- 3:08Speaker 4: a bunch of spacing and a bunch of pacing. Like
- 3:12Speaker 4: Florida is a total different like animal from a standpoint
- 3:15Speaker 4: of wait, we, so we got all this pre-snap motion.
- 3:18Speaker 4: We've got all these formations that we have to prepare for.
- 3:20Speaker 4: We have all these different run fits and volume of
- 3:23Speaker 4: run catalog that we have to prepare for. The quarterback's
- 3:25Speaker 4: playing at an extremely high rate and understands the why
- 3:28Speaker 4: of everything that's getting called. So, like, even, like, DJ
- 3:32Speaker 4: Durkin's one of the best. He's one of the best
- 3:34Speaker 4: defensive coordinators that we have. They seemed unprepared at times
- 3:38Speaker 4: as a defense, and that's probably not the case. But
- 3:41Speaker 4: when the bullets start flying and all of it starts
- 3:44Speaker 4: getting thrown at us, we're going to have laps of
- 3:47Speaker 4: eye discipline.
- 3:48Speaker 3: We're going to have improper run fits, right?
- 3:50Speaker 4: Like the fourth and one, we got two defenders from
- 3:53Speaker 4: Auburn trying to fit the same gap and the tight
- 3:55Speaker 4: end kicks them both out. And all of a sudden,
- 3:57Speaker 4: Jaden Ball's banging his head.
- 3:58Speaker 3: On the goalpost.
- 3:59Speaker 4: The Dallas Wilson touchdown down in the red area. Like
- 4:03Speaker 4: one becomes two, three becomes one. Like all of the
- 4:06Speaker 4: motion pre-snap gets us caught up. And then, you know,
- 4:09Speaker 4: Philo's executing at a really high rate. So, and I
- 4:12Speaker 4: think Buss, or, you know, Summerall talked about that in postgame, right?
- 4:16Speaker 4: He's like, the amount of things that we can run, right.
- 4:19Speaker 4: The amount of offense that we can install week to
- 4:22Speaker 4: week and get this executed a high rate that that's
- 4:26Speaker 4: good coordinating. That's good quarterback play that that's, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 4: guys getting on the same page and y'all still had
- 4:31Speaker 4: some bust.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Like there was one play where though, I think the
- 4:34Speaker 4: wide receiver doesn't realize that you guys were running a
- 4:36Speaker 4: tunnel screen and, and.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Philo takes a sack.
- 4:39Speaker 4: So like there are still certain things that you guys
- 4:42Speaker 4: got to clean up on top of all the penalties,
- 4:44Speaker 4: but it's the volume. The volume and it all being
- 4:47Speaker 4: tied together, that makes Buster such a tough prep for everybody.
- 4:51Speaker 1: And you mentioned the bad eyes at linebacker with motion
- 4:55Speaker 1: and the play action. And when you look at Pete
- 4:57Speaker 1: Golding's defense, is that an area that Florida should attack again?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Or do you think Ole Miss is structurally better equipped
- 5:05Speaker 1: to handle the eye candy than Auburn was?
- 5:09Speaker 4: I think for Ole Miss, it starts defensively up front
- 5:12Speaker 4: for them. Their front four is really, really good right now.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Blake Purchase, Centurion Perkins, Cam Franklin, and everybody obviously knows
- 5:22Speaker 4: about Echols, William Echols. They're so good up front that
- 5:26Speaker 4: they create so much of a disruption and so many
- 5:28Speaker 4: havoc plays for them defensively. And they cleaned a lot
- 5:32Speaker 4: of the secondary stuff up from week one against Louisville
- 5:35Speaker 4: where they had a ton of bust and stuff like that.
- 5:37Speaker 4: My more compelling matchup going into that one is like
- 5:41Speaker 4: they're a picture-matching defense over there at Pete Golden, meaning
- 5:44Speaker 4: like If the offense lines up in this formation, we're
- 5:47Speaker 4: going to play this defense on this side of the
- 5:49Speaker 4: field and on the other side of the field. If
- 5:51Speaker 4: they line up in this, we're going to play this.
- 5:52Speaker 4: So there's a lot of communication. I wonder how that's
- 5:55Speaker 4: going to work with all the scatter motion, all the
- 5:58Speaker 4: late snap motion that Buster runs. So that'll be the
- 6:02Speaker 4: chess match there, but they clean a lot of that
- 6:04Speaker 4: up and they help a lot of that because of
- 6:07Speaker 4: the defensive pressure from that front four.
- 6:10Speaker 3: They're really good, but You.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Know, the linebackers from Ole Miss, both of those guys,
- 6:14Speaker 4: all three of them, really, because they rotate 49 in there, too. Like,
- 6:18Speaker 4: the Luke Farrelly kid, he wears 12, number 11, I
- 6:21Speaker 4: forget his name. They're so fast that they can make
- 6:25Speaker 4: up for a lot of these things. But, no, that
- 6:27Speaker 4: is something that Buster's.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Going to attack everybody with. Like, he did that at Tech.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Like, they are going to create so many different run
- 6:35Speaker 4: fits and play actions off of that that Yeah, you're
- 6:37Speaker 4: going to get some overflow from linebackers, no doubt. That's
- 6:40Speaker 4: going to be a weekly test and a weekly thing
- 6:43Speaker 4: that they create problems for every defensive coordinator on.
- 6:47Speaker 1: In your video that you did recently, you called Jaden
- 6:49Speaker 1: Ball the best running back in college football. And I,
- 6:52Speaker 1: of course, will be clipping that because I do a Florida,
- 6:54Speaker 1: Florida State, Miami show, and Miami would vehemently disagree. So
- 6:57Speaker 1: thank you for the ammo. But LSU ran the ball
- 7:00Speaker 1: 43 times for 172 yards against Ole Miss. When you
- 7:04Speaker 1: put Jaden Baugh, the best running back in college football,
- 7:07Speaker 1: with the fact that LSU was able to run the
- 7:09Speaker 1: ball against Ole Miss, is Baugh the centerpiece of the
- 7:13Speaker 1: Florida game plan this week? We're going to take a
- 7:15Speaker 1: short break from this video to play a little price picks. Guys,
- 7:19Speaker 1: make sure you have downloaded the app. And then if
- 7:22Speaker 1: you are a new user, play a $ 5 lineup.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Use our code. It's HMA. And if you win, you'll
- 7:28Speaker 2: get $ 150 in lineups instantly.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm gonna take the more on Arch Manning's
- 7:34Speaker 1: passing yards at 199 and a half, and then the
- 7:38Speaker 1: more on Faison Brandon's passing yards at.
- 7:40Speaker 2: 209 and a half. Pair a couple of things like that.
- 7:44Speaker 2: You've got a lineup. Hit submit. Don't forget, new users,
- 7:47Speaker 2: play that $ 5 lineup.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Use the code HMA. Get $ 150 instantly if you win.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It's so much fun.
- 7:54Speaker 1: The college football stuff over there is awesome. I've been
- 7:57Speaker 1: enjoying it so much this season. So come on over
- 7:59Speaker 1: there and join me. We appreciate prize picks for all
- 8:01Speaker 1: their support.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Well, the run game is always the centerpiece of Buster's
- 8:05Speaker 4: offense in general. Like even when he You know, Justice
- 8:08Speaker 4: Haynes is a really good back out there at Georgia Tech.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I think the NFL has kind of figured that out,
- 8:12Speaker 4: at least in preseason as well. But what I didn't
- 8:15Speaker 4: realize is last year was like, okay, Jaden's getting a
- 8:18Speaker 4: lot of production because of like the workload that he
- 8:22Speaker 4: was maintaining last year. They were just giving him the
- 8:24Speaker 4: ball over and over and over again. And eventually he
- 8:27Speaker 4: spit it. Now you combine that with he's a really
- 8:31Speaker 4: talented back and now the offense makes sense.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Like you're going to have a lot of explosive runs.
- 8:38Speaker 4: But he's playing it at a really, really high rate
- 8:39Speaker 4: right now from a jump cut perspective and his ability
- 8:42Speaker 4: to actually have top end speed. Like the one clip
- 8:46Speaker 4: against Auburn where they're running truck into the boundary and
- 8:50Speaker 4: like everybody's tunneling in on him. They got the ball
- 8:52Speaker 4: viced really, really well. And it's just like he just
- 8:55Speaker 4: pulls away. Yeah, that's what I kind of threw my
- 8:58Speaker 4: hands up and was like, there's nothing. There's nothing really
- 9:01Speaker 4: this guy can't do. He can run you over. He
- 9:02Speaker 4: can make you miss. And when you do hit him solidly,
- 9:05Speaker 4: like he, he bounces off of defenders. His vision's great.
- 9:08Speaker 4: And he's got top end speed. Like that's, and he's
- 9:12Speaker 4: 230 pounds. Like there's so much here to work with,
- 9:15Speaker 4: but no, I think the LSU run game is totally
- 9:19Speaker 4: different than what you guys do from a volume standpoint too.
- 9:23Speaker 4: So I think Jaden is going to be a guy.
- 9:26Speaker 4: It's almost like Steph Curry, like he's going to get
- 9:29Speaker 4: his 30-plus points. We've got to make sure everybody else
- 9:32Speaker 4: doesn't kill us. We've got to make sure, you know,
- 9:34Speaker 4: Vernell doesn't get an explosive off a screen pass. We've
- 9:37Speaker 4: got to make sure that the deep overs are taken
- 9:40Speaker 4: care of. We've got to make sure those things happen.
- 9:42Speaker 4: But we can almost just, like, pencil in Jaden for.
- 9:45Speaker 3: 150, right?
- 9:46Speaker 4: Like, that's the way I would– if I were a
- 9:48Speaker 4: defensive coordinator, that's the way I would attack him. Like,
- 9:51Speaker 4: we can't let him take off for 60 yards, but
- 9:53Speaker 4: we have to understand that this guy is going to
- 9:55Speaker 4: be a five yards per carry guy against us.
- 9:59Speaker 3: That's just what he is.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And maybe we can dent some of the run game
- 10:02Speaker 4: enough with these defensive linemen that, you know, he has
- 10:05Speaker 4: to make a jump cut behind the line of scrimmage
- 10:07Speaker 4: and he's not doing it on the second and third levels.
- 10:11Speaker 4: I think he's just going to, he's going to eat.
- 10:13Speaker 4: We got to make sure everybody else doesn't.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Against Ole Miss, what's the one thing Florida can do
- 10:19Speaker 1: schematically that you think puts the most stress on Pete
- 10:23Speaker 1: Golding's defense?
- 10:24Speaker 4: Yeah, again, it's all the pre-snap stuff because they are
- 10:27Speaker 4: such a communication football team, right? And it's a lot
- 10:32Speaker 4: easier to communicate on the road because the crowd's kind
- 10:36Speaker 4: of quiet when Florida's offense is on the field. So
- 10:39Speaker 4: a lot of that pre-snap motion will create confusion, right?
- 10:44Speaker 4: for that communication in the back end. That would be
- 10:47Speaker 4: the thing, but it's not like you guys are adding
- 10:48Speaker 4: that in. It's not like that's a new thing for y'all.
- 10:51Speaker 4: That is what y'all do under Buster. So that's it.
- 10:55Speaker 4: You create explosives and you create busted coverages by pre-snap
- 10:58Speaker 4: motions and stacks and creating problems with them getting on
- 11:04Speaker 4: the same page. If those five defensive backs If one
- 11:07Speaker 4: of them sees it differently than anybody else, it's going
- 11:11Speaker 4: to create a problem and it's going to create an
- 11:13Speaker 4: explosive metric. So just that, what y'all already do, and
- 11:17Speaker 4: it'll be Pete's job to make sure that back end
- 11:21Speaker 4: is tight. It's funny, I was watching, you know, Pete
- 11:23Speaker 4: calls defense for them. So I'm on the field and
- 11:26Speaker 4: I'm watching him call and you can see the green dot.
- 11:30Speaker 4: He's out there, he's got his hands on his ear,
- 11:31Speaker 4: the linebacker, and he's communicating with the box. it seemed
- 11:35Speaker 4: to me that the call was just for the front six,
- 11:38Speaker 4: and then the back end is just matching what the
- 11:42Speaker 4: offense is lined up in, right? So the defensive call
- 11:45Speaker 4: is probably just what stunt and what twist and what
- 11:49Speaker 4: we're doing inside the box. The back end is responding
- 11:52Speaker 4: to what the offense is lined up in. So if
- 11:54Speaker 4: you guys can get a little bit of late communication bust,
- 11:58Speaker 4: you'll create explosives that way. So yeah, it'll be an
- 12:02Speaker 4: interesting chess match, but I mean, Durkin didn't have much
- 12:06Speaker 4: for him. So, you know, I respect DJ at one
- 12:09Speaker 4: of these high-end clips from a defensive coordinator perspective. And
- 12:13Speaker 4: you guys gave him hell for four quarters on the road.
- 12:16Speaker 4: So we'll see.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I want to talk a little bit about Aaron Filo.
- 12:19Speaker 1: You were really impressed with his toughness and kind of
- 12:21Speaker 1: his willingness to stand in against pressure. We've talked about
- 12:26Speaker 1: the disruptive guys that Ole Miss has up front, Will
- 12:29Speaker 1: Echols and others. what if Ole Miss decides, hey, we're
- 12:34Speaker 1: not letting Jaden beat us? And maybe they do let
- 12:36Speaker 1: him get his 100 yards or his 150, but we're
- 12:38Speaker 1: going to make Philo beat us. Is that a situation
- 12:43Speaker 1: that you are comfortable with, a matchup that Florida could
- 12:46Speaker 1: be comfortable with?
- 12:48Speaker 4: So if you can flush him, like if you can
- 12:51Speaker 4: get him outside the pocket, when I talk to SEC
- 12:54Speaker 4: guys that are preparing for Florida, like that's the only
- 12:56Speaker 4: thing they think they got on this Philo kid is like, hey,
- 12:59Speaker 4: if we make him create with his legs and if
- 13:02Speaker 4: we make him.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Get outside the pocket, he'll put the ball at risk.
- 13:05Speaker 4: That's the thought process of this young football player, but
- 13:09Speaker 4: nobody's really done that to him yet because the clip
- 13:14Speaker 4: we talked about on the film with him showing toughness
- 13:16Speaker 4: and the Melendez kids absolutely smoking him right down a gap.
- 13:21Speaker 4: We didn't get him outside the pocket. We allowed him
- 13:25Speaker 4: in cover zero to just put the ball up with Vernell.
- 13:29Speaker 3: And the thing about.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Ole Miss is that still waited for that route.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Like the, the thing about Ole Miss is that I
- 13:34Speaker 4: don't see them play a bunch of man-to-man coverage. Like they,
- 13:38Speaker 4: they get pressure with four or five. They don't over
- 13:40Speaker 4: commit themselves to, to stopping, you know, quarterbacks with, with
- 13:45Speaker 4: a bunch of like, like number pressures, right? Like we're,
- 13:48Speaker 4: we're just going to send five. We're not going to
- 13:50Speaker 4: send six or seven. We're just going to, we're going
- 13:52Speaker 4: to push pockets. And I thought they had a tremendous
- 13:55Speaker 4: game plan against Levitt where they let their front four
- 13:58Speaker 4: really play disciplined and unselfish, really. Like, we're just going
- 14:02Speaker 4: to push the pocket. We're not going to create lanes
- 14:05Speaker 4: for this guy to sneak through.
- 14:06Speaker 3: It's a totally.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Different prep for Philo because he'll just stand in there.
- 14:11Speaker 4: He's not going to get his eyes down on rush.
- 14:13Speaker 4: He's just going to stand in there and work through progressions.
- 14:16Speaker 4: And that's something you've seen all the way back to
- 14:18Speaker 4: his Georgia Tech tape. Like, the guy plays the quarterback
- 14:21Speaker 4: position at a really high rate. He's not looking to
- 14:25Speaker 4: get out of things. He's looking for answers first. So,
- 14:28Speaker 4: I have a tremendous amount of respect for the way
- 14:30Speaker 4: he plays the position at a really high rate from
- 14:33Speaker 4: within the pocket. And his pocket movements, man, they're really,
- 14:37Speaker 4: really high rate.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Like, okay, the right tackle's getting beat with speed right now.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Don't worry about it.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Just going to step up right quick, get my feet
- 14:45Speaker 4: back up underneath me, keep my eyes downfield, and find
- 14:48Speaker 4: the answer.
- 14:48Speaker 3: So it's a hard one to... get him to feel,
- 14:53Speaker 3: you know, rushed.
- 14:54Speaker 4: Or feel discombobulated or feel like he has to bail
- 14:57Speaker 4: out of pockets.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Like he, he really doesn't do that.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But if we can force him to, if we can
- 15:02Speaker 4: force him to get out of the pocket and get
- 15:03Speaker 4: on the run, I think you might find the quote
- 15:06Speaker 4: unquote weakness in his game. Cause he's not a guy
- 15:09Speaker 4: that makes like elite, like first round caliber throws outside
- 15:14Speaker 4: of the, outside of the pocket. He doesn't have that,
- 15:17Speaker 4: that elite arm talent when he's on the run. like
- 15:21Speaker 4: some of these younger quarterbacks do nowadays. He does most
- 15:23Speaker 4: of his damage, you know, in between the tackles, which, again,
- 15:26Speaker 4: that's the way I prefer it. I like guys that
- 15:30Speaker 4: do all their damage from inside the pocket because that's
- 15:33Speaker 4: where a lot of the winning is done on a
- 15:36Speaker 4: consistent basis. But if we can flush him, maybe, maybe.
- 15:39Speaker 4: But you still got to attach. Like, you still got
- 15:42Speaker 4: to find Burnell Brown. You still got to find it. Like,
- 15:44Speaker 4: is Eric Singleton going to be ready this weekend? Like,
- 15:46Speaker 4: you still got to attach to Dallas Wilson, like, Those
- 15:50Speaker 4: are really tough assignments, even if we do get the
- 15:52Speaker 4: quarterback flushed in out of the pocket.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Let's flip it and talk a little bit about Ole
- 15:56Speaker 2: Miss' offense.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You know, before that LSU-Ole Miss game, you identified the
- 16:01Speaker 1: quarterback run game as kind of an X factor there.
- 16:03Speaker 1: And then, you know, Chambliss wins the game with a
- 16:05Speaker 1: 14-yard quarterback run after LSU ties it up in the fourth.
- 16:10Speaker 1: When you watch Chambliss, what makes that part of his
- 16:13Speaker 1: game just so absolutely difficult to defend?
- 16:17Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's... first of all, when it comes to Trinidad,
- 16:22Speaker 4: there is no answers. Like they're like, everybody's tried.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 4: And the thing you guys got going for you is you,
- 16:28Speaker 4: you can score with him.
- 16:30Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:31Speaker 4: I think you're going to, but they're like, everybody's tried
- 16:35Speaker 4: to do everything to this guy. And, and he's had
- 16:38Speaker 4: to answer over and over and over again. I, I
- 16:41Speaker 4: watched that sugar bowl game against Georgia probably five times now.
- 16:46Speaker 4: And I, I thought Schumann, like Schumann probably just at
- 16:49Speaker 4: one point just threw his hands up and was like,
- 16:51Speaker 4: all right, guys, we're going to score 50 today because
- 16:54Speaker 4: there's nothing, we can't do anything. They tried absolutely every
- 16:58Speaker 4: defensive coverage that they could. They tried every single blitz
- 17:02Speaker 4: package that they could. And I felt this way about
- 17:05Speaker 4: Blake Baker this weekend. It gets to a point where
- 17:08Speaker 4: you're just like, all right, well, We know we can't
- 17:10Speaker 4: play man to man against these guys because the quarterback
- 17:12Speaker 4: is going to take off and you can't spy him
- 17:14Speaker 4: because he's too athletic. He's going to run away from
- 17:16Speaker 4: a spot. Like there's no you're not going to get
- 17:19Speaker 4: there with him. So long story short, I don't know.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Like there's a lot of there's a lot of quarterbacks
- 17:27Speaker 4: where I'm like, OK, well, we might be able to
- 17:29Speaker 4: do this to him.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Right. Trinidad. There's no there's no answers. Like just yet.
- 17:34Speaker 4: I mean, guys, he had no run game last week.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Kiwan Lacey goes out like six series into the football game.
- 17:40Speaker 4: They really can't protect. Like they don't have a great
- 17:43Speaker 4: offensive line.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:45Speaker 4: And they eliminated the number one wide receiver from Ole Miss,
- 17:48Speaker 4: Deuce Alexander. Like, so you have no run game. We
- 17:53Speaker 4: really can't protect you. And your number one receiver is gone.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Your leading receiver in that football game played defensive.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Back for Ole Miss last year. Crazy.
- 18:03Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 18:03Speaker 4: And he wins the damn game. Basically by himself. He
- 18:07Speaker 4: was unflappable in the first half.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I think he was.
- 18:09Speaker 4: 23 for 28 for almost 265 yards. You just hope
- 18:15Speaker 4: and pray. Hope and pray we can outscore him. I
- 18:17Speaker 4: think that's the only answer. I've never seen a 16
- 18:21Speaker 4: or 17 game run like this guy's having right now,
- 18:23Speaker 4: a quarterback.
- 18:25Speaker 1: And it makes it even crazier that he came from
- 18:27Speaker 1: Ferris State two years ago.
- 18:28Speaker 2: You know, LSU got.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Back into this game in the second half. They erased
- 18:34Speaker 1: that 24-7 deficit. But Chambliss responded with that 13-play, 75-yard
- 18:40Speaker 1: touchdown drive. From a film standpoint, what allows a veteran
- 18:44Speaker 1: quarterback like him to have an answer once the defense
- 18:48Speaker 1: adjusts to what you're doing in the first half?
- 18:51Speaker 3: So, I mean, he gets through his reads really, really quickly.
- 18:54Speaker 4: And he's an excellent tight window thrower. Um, so he, there,
- 18:59Speaker 4: there is nothing that like shakes him or rattles him. Um,
- 19:03Speaker 4: and he does, he does, he'll, he'll do so from
- 19:04Speaker 4: within the pocket too. I think his efficiency, once he
- 19:07Speaker 4: sees something, I mean, the ball's in and out really.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Really quickly.
- 19:11Speaker 4: I he's almost, people will like give him like drew
- 19:14Speaker 4: breeze comparisons from a stature standpoint. But the only thing
- 19:17Speaker 4: I think aligns with drew from a, a gameplay standpoint
- 19:20Speaker 4: is how quickly, once he sees something, the ball's coming
- 19:23Speaker 4: out now. I don't think there's any like inefficiencies in
- 19:27Speaker 4: his stroke. Like it's just really, really quick. So with
- 19:31Speaker 4: the way he sees the game, if there's any area,
- 19:36Speaker 4: any air, any space available, the ball gets out immediately
- 19:41Speaker 4: and it gets to where he wants it to go.
- 19:44Speaker 4: So yeah, I think if you're going to beat them
- 19:46Speaker 4: this year, you're probably going to have to be able
- 19:49Speaker 4: to cover all of their threats in a man-to-man situation,
- 19:53Speaker 4: squeeze the pocket, keep him from within it and spy him.
- 19:57Speaker 4: But now we're like, now we're burning so many options,
- 20:00Speaker 4: you know what I mean? But burning so many bodies
- 20:02Speaker 4: dedicated to him that eventually Deuce probably gets you. Cause
- 20:06Speaker 4: Deuce Alexander, I don't think the world knows how good
- 20:09Speaker 4: this guy is, number one for Ole Miss. He's probably
- 20:14Speaker 4: one of the– I mean, if he's not top five,
- 20:17Speaker 4: he's within the conversation at the X position right now
- 20:21Speaker 4: at wide receiver from the standpoint of how well he
- 20:23Speaker 4: is playing against man-to-man coverage.
- 20:25Speaker 3: So, again, the answer is to outscore them. Yeah. Right?
- 20:30Speaker 4: The answer is to outscore them. And that's the only
- 20:33Speaker 4: one you really got.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 1: You know, I think last week you look at the
- 20:37Speaker 1: box score and, you know, LSU kind of made Ole
- 20:40Speaker 1: Miss one-dimensional and part of that is injuries.
- 20:43Speaker 2: But is that, I.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Feel like normally you're like, great, we're able to make
- 20:46Speaker 1: them one-dimensional, but is that actually more terrifying because Ole
- 20:51Speaker 1: Miss showed that they don't even need to be multi-dimensional
- 20:54Speaker 1: to win a football game?
- 20:55Speaker 3: Well, it's, it's really hard.
- 20:56Speaker 4: And I was saying this in the middle of like
- 20:58Speaker 4: to myself, cause I don't know, nobody talking to me
- 21:00Speaker 4: at those Ole Miss games. Um, I was saying this
- 21:03Speaker 4: to myself, like mentally, it's really hard. You can have
- 21:06Speaker 4: a 14 point lead in the second half, but it's
- 21:08Speaker 4: really hard to put a team away if you can't
- 21:09Speaker 4: run the ball.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 4: And even, even when Kiwan was healthy, I didn't feel
- 21:14Speaker 4: like there was a lot of run lanes for him
- 21:16Speaker 4: against Louisville. Because again, I don't, I don't think they have,
- 21:20Speaker 4: if there's one, they don't have a special offensive line.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't believe that about Ole Miss.
- 21:26Speaker 4: So it's really hard to ice football games if we
- 21:31Speaker 4: can't run the ball. it becomes like, all right, six,
- 21:35Speaker 4: go be a superhuman. And luckily for Ole Miss, he's
- 21:37Speaker 4: been a superhuman for 16 games. So maybe he has
- 21:41Speaker 4: a bad one. I just haven't found it. He got
- 21:46Speaker 4: stopped twice on the road against Georgia last year. And
- 21:50Speaker 4: like 14 drives, they got off the field twice.
- 21:52Speaker 3: They didn't get a stop.
- 21:53Speaker 4: They didn't force a punt until midway through the third
- 21:55Speaker 4: quarter against Georgia's defense last year. So the guy is–
- 22:00Speaker 4: I mean, we could see her for 35 minutes, and
- 22:02Speaker 4: that'll be the ultimate response.
- 22:03Speaker 3: It's like, the dude's special.
- 22:05Speaker 1: So, you know, in that Florida-Auburn breakdown, you talked about
- 22:10Speaker 1: bad eye discipline becoming an explosive immediately with this Florida offense.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But when you look at both of these teams together,
- 22:17Speaker 1: you know, I think you have an offense as a
- 22:20Speaker 1: whole that is pretty special. And then you have a
- 22:23Speaker 1: player who is probably the best player in college football
- 22:26Speaker 1: that Do you think that Ole Miss trying to sort
- 22:28Speaker 1: through Buster's motion or Florida trying to account for Chambliss
- 22:32Speaker 1: and everything that can happen with him, which one is
- 22:35Speaker 1: the bigger task?
- 22:39Speaker 4: I mean, the offense as a whole, the volume for
- 22:42Speaker 4: Florida is daunting, but I have a hard time picking
- 22:47Speaker 4: against Trinidad right now. Until someone does it, I mean,
- 22:50Speaker 4: that pick Saturday, Against LSU. I mean, he, he got
- 22:54Speaker 4: absolutely smoked. Like the, the right tackle gets beat clean
- 22:59Speaker 4: off the line of scrimmage. The, the Umar Meeland guy
- 23:02Speaker 4: is in his rib cage as the ball's getting loose.
- 23:04Speaker 4: So you guys can do that now. Like your, your
- 23:07Speaker 4: defensive line for, for as much criticism as they got
- 23:11Speaker 4: going into that Auburn matchup. you guys got dudes up
- 23:15Speaker 4: front and I've said that about you from the spring
- 23:17Speaker 4: game that I watched. It's like the amount of, of,
- 23:20Speaker 4: of humans that y'all have at Florida from a defensive
- 23:23Speaker 4: line perspective, I think y'all can play seven or eight
- 23:26Speaker 4: guys out there and just continue to rotate them, uh,
- 23:29Speaker 4: and keep everybody fresh. 99 is pointed a really high
- 23:32Speaker 4: rate right now. The, I call them the Nigerian nightmare.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Cause I'm not going to attempt to butcher that last name. Um,
- 23:38Speaker 4: you know, the, the, the woods kids playing really well
- 23:40Speaker 4: right now. Uh, and, and you guys maybe ought to
- 23:44Speaker 4: be able to get pressure, but the problem is, is like,
- 23:47Speaker 4: if one guy wins, everybody else needs to push and
- 23:51Speaker 4: not allow him to get out. Cause if there's a
- 23:53Speaker 4: lane for him to get out, he's going to get
- 23:55Speaker 4: out of the pocket. And then now we have a
- 23:57Speaker 4: whole nother play getting started, right? The scramble drill, him
- 24:00Speaker 4: getting flat. He keeps his eyes down, feel really well.
- 24:03Speaker 4: So those things you can't just because you rush him
- 24:07Speaker 4: and you get him out off of his spot like
- 24:09Speaker 4: we can't just convene on him either because his eyes
- 24:12Speaker 4: are going to get downfield like that third down play
- 24:14Speaker 4: where he had where he's rolling left and all those
- 24:17Speaker 4: LSU defenders start to convene and he's like he just
- 24:21Speaker 4: flicks one out to his I mean just Georgia had
- 24:24Speaker 4: this too in the Sugar Bowl where it's like we
- 24:26Speaker 4: got him dead to rights spins out reverses field runs
- 24:30Speaker 4: 45 yards downfield rips a dart it's like You just
- 24:34Speaker 4: got to get them down, and nobody can really do
- 24:36Speaker 4: that right now either.
- 24:37Speaker 2: All right, last one.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Forget the rankings. Forget the final scores. If you are
- 24:42Speaker 1: breaking this down purely from tape, what is the matchup?
- 24:46Speaker 1: Or maybe it's even just one specific concept versus one
- 24:49Speaker 1: specific defensive answer. What would you tell Florida fans to
- 24:53Speaker 1: watch for on the first couple of drives because it
- 24:56Speaker 1: could tell us where the game's headed?
- 24:58Speaker 4: Yeah, the defensive line from Ole Miss, if they are–
- 25:02Speaker 4: if they're consistently winning, it's going to be hard to
- 25:06Speaker 4: consistently move the football. And I felt that about that
- 25:10Speaker 4: LSU matchup, too. It's just like they've rebuilt that defensive line, right?
- 25:15Speaker 4: And you guys know one of the faces, Makai Barreau,
- 25:17Speaker 4: comes over from Florida and is playing on the interior
- 25:20Speaker 4: of that defensive line. They've got a bunch of huge
- 25:23Speaker 4: humans that they rotate, particularly interiorly, on the defensive line. Now,
- 25:28Speaker 4: if I were Buster and if I were Florida– every
- 25:31Speaker 4: time number four Centurion Perkins is anywhere near the box,
- 25:35Speaker 4: we're going to run stretch right at him. And we
- 25:38Speaker 4: might be able to win there because he struggles to
- 25:40Speaker 4: hold the point. He's 6'2, he's 230 pounds, and he's
- 25:44Speaker 4: just not the biggest human in the world. But they've
- 25:49Speaker 4: alleviated a lot of that with Blake Purchase and Cam
- 25:51Speaker 4: Franklin and just the amount of mass that they have
- 25:55Speaker 4: everywhere else. It's really hard to consistently run the ball
- 25:58Speaker 4: at them, but I felt like that was LSU's success
- 26:01Speaker 4: point in the run game, running stretch and getting defensive
- 26:05Speaker 4: personnel to over-pursue and then set up cutback lanes. Like,
- 26:08Speaker 4: you guys have an ability to remain balanced in this
- 26:11Speaker 4: football game, whereas they do not.
- 26:13Speaker 3: All right? So that would be.
- 26:15Speaker 4: The advantage point I would be looking for is like, hey,
- 26:18Speaker 4: can we actually consistently run the football? And I'm not
- 26:20Speaker 4: talking about like Jaden Ball being uniquely special or Sure.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Taking care of everybody else. I'm talking about a down
- 26:27Speaker 4: to down. Every time we know we hand the ball off,
- 26:29Speaker 4: we can get five or six yards. If you guys
- 26:31Speaker 4: can remain balanced, particularly, you know, maybe in the second half,
- 26:36Speaker 4: you can keep the ball out of six's hands and
- 26:38Speaker 4: then have a chance to win late.
- 26:41Speaker 3: All right, everybody.
- 26:41Speaker 2: He is Brooks Austin, the film guy.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Tell everybody where they can follow you on social media,
- 26:46Speaker 1: check out your work.
- 26:47Speaker 2: He has done some incredible breakdowns this week. I literally
- 26:50Speaker 2: had my phone playing like all morning. My husband's in
- 26:52Speaker 2: the other room. He's like, what are you listening to?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Ball. We're listening to ball.
- 26:56Speaker 2: That's what we're listening to.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Damn right.
- 26:57Speaker 4: At Brooks Austin BA on all social media platforms. And
- 27:00Speaker 4: if you haven't already, check us out on the film
- 27:02Speaker 4: guy network. You guys have, this Florida fan base, for
- 27:06Speaker 4: the years that I've been doing this, it was one
- 27:08Speaker 4: of these hard ones to find in the algorithm from
- 27:10Speaker 4: a film study standpoint. You guys are blowing us up
- 27:13Speaker 4: lately and you guys are ball curious. And I think
- 27:15Speaker 4: what that is, is you got an offensive staff and
- 27:18Speaker 4: a defensive staff that's coaching ball at a high rate now.
- 27:21Speaker 4: So you actually want to know, you want to know
- 27:23Speaker 4: why is this working?
- 27:24Speaker 2: So, well, we knew why it wasn't working before.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I don't think maybe you're not a glutton for punishment.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Who is, you know, who is, but it's good. Now
- 27:34Speaker 4: you guys like what you're seeing. So, We appreciate the
- 27:37Speaker 4: ability to explain it to you just.
- 27:39Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate you hanging out with us. I appreciate
- 27:42Speaker 1: everybody for tuning in. We'll have lots more content coming
- 27:44Speaker 1: your way.
- 27:45Speaker 2: As always, go Gators.
