- 0:56SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 0:57SPEAKER_05: I don't know why I started it.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: That's the first thing I thought.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: That's the that's the the most exciting not exciting, but the most grateful I've ever seen anything.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: I've never been on a podcast before.
- 1:09SPEAKER_05: You've got your own podcast.
- 1:11SPEAKER_05: I know, I'm I'm definitely lying.
- 1:12SPEAKER_05: Who who which comedian has not been on a podcast before?
- 1:15SPEAKER_05: That's ridiculous.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, the first time I ever had Leo on my podcast, Leo Reich was the first time he'd ever been on a podcast.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: What?
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 1:22SPEAKER_05: I've been on, I'm not Leo Reich's level, and I've been on 45 of them.
- 1:26SPEAKER_05: I'm so tired of podcasts.
- 1:28SPEAKER_05: No, who's listening to this?
- 1:29SPEAKER_05: Because I'm not.
- 1:31SPEAKER_05: No, not this show.
- 1:32SPEAKER_05: I'm talking about in in podcasts in general.
- 1:36SPEAKER_05: I I don't know.
- 1:37SPEAKER_05: I'm so grateful to be here.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: She's gone from so grateful to be here to like who's listening to this.
- 1:42SPEAKER_05: Who the hell is listening?
- 1:43SPEAKER_05: I am a tumultuous human being and I have a lot of thoughts and a lot of feelings.
- 1:48SPEAKER_05: But uh I'm so grateful to be here.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: How are you doing?
- 1:53SPEAKER_05: I'm okay.
- 1:54SPEAKER_05: Uh I made you sorry for making you wait for so long.
- 1:57SPEAKER_05: It's because I was finishing watching the movie.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: The movie, which is 75 minutes long, and she was still late.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: The movie's 75 minutes.
- 2:07SPEAKER_05: It hey, it doesn't matter.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: And I chose to watch it 50 minutes before I have to come here, okay?
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: That's that's what happened.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: That's that's the brownest thing about you.
- 2:21SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 2:21SPEAKER_05: That's the there's not that much brown about me, but like that is uh yeah.
- 2:26SPEAKER_05: Except for the melanin.
- 2:27SPEAKER_05: The uh it is uh the me being late to things.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Don't tap the mic.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Damn it! Um Yeah.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: So you what have you been up to today, other than that?
- 2:39SPEAKER_05: Um uh so I didn't I didn't have work today.
- 2:43SPEAKER_05: So I've been trying to do uh my master's homework.
- 2:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 2:47SPEAKER_05: I'm doing a comedy master's.
- 2:48SPEAKER_05: And you know when your brain is now f it's so foggy, I wrote two sentences and then I went to sleep.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: What is your what are you doing it on?
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Um like the the specific thing you're doing now.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: What are you trying to write?
- 3:00SPEAKER_05: Oh, I'm writing uh a comedy short.
- 3:02SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, so I'm just doing a really, really short one, but like the I'm like two weeks behind because you know I would do stand-up comedy and I do this.
- 3:09SPEAKER_05: And a full-time job.
- 3:10SPEAKER_05: At a full-time job.
- 3:11SPEAKER_05: And then I've like got my own podcast and like I don't yeah.
- 3:15SPEAKER_05: I'm surprised I'm even here.
- 3:16SPEAKER_05: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: And you travel everywhere for You were in Wait, wait, you just got back from Paris.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Why are we not talking about this?
- 3:22SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, I just got back from Paris.
- 3:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_05: It was my birthday uh trip.
- 3:26SPEAKER_05: Oh I didn't do it in comedy.
- 3:27SPEAKER_05: I just literally I went to Paris because I wanted to uh Yeah, I assume you weren't doing it for comedy because you didn't post anything about that.
- 3:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, usually I post a lot about comedy.
- 3:35SPEAKER_05: But I've also deleted Instagram off my phone.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 3:38SPEAKER_05: Because I I got this app that tells me how much time I was spending on Instagram, and then I'm like, no.
- 3:45SPEAKER_05: So I deleted it off my phone.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like that, but I I feel like in this industry you can't do that.
- 3:50SPEAKER_05: This is the thing.
- 3:52SPEAKER_05: So when I know I'm doing gigs, I will re-install it and then I'll do it.
- 3:57SPEAKER_05: But otherwise, if I'm not doing anything, I'm not gonna do it.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: But like um yeah, like so you're not doing any gigs at the moment, is that what you're saying?
- 4:06SPEAKER_05: No, I'm doing a gig tonight.
- 4:08SPEAKER_05: And I'm doing a gig tomorrow.
- 4:10SPEAKER_05: And maybe on Wednesday.
- 4:12SPEAKER_05: I need to do homework.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: This is supposed to be your day to do homework.
- 4:17SPEAKER_05: I know, and I just did it.
- 4:19SPEAKER_05: Oh okay.
- 4:20SPEAKER_05: Anyway, it'll be fine.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_05: I'm actually I don't think we should record this podcast.
- 4:23SPEAKER_05: Do you want to do homework?
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: No, I do not want to do homework.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: I haven't done homework since I was 18.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: No, no, that's a lie.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: 21.
- 4:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, didn't you did you go to university?
- 4:32SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 21.
- 4:34SPEAKER_05: You finished univers Yeah, no, that's a regular term to finish university, isn't it?
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Actually, no.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: It would be twenty-two, because I I missed a year.
- 4:40SPEAKER_05: What were you doing?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: I long story, I went to uni, uh, didn't like the course, dropped out, uh did like six months of interning stuff, and then like went back to a different uni and different course.
- 4:55SPEAKER_05: What was the course?
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: What the original course?
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: It was uh film, radio, television.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: And I thought, oh, this would be great.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: This is exactly.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And then I got there.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: And then they were like, yeah, you can direct stuff in your third year.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Uh this is all theory based until then.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: What's the theory what I was like, no, I don't want to do theory stuff.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: I want to I want to actually it was all like writing.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Like it was all like learning about the history of film and everything.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I was like, no, I can do that in my own time.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:27SPEAKER_05: How does that help you?
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, I did that on my other course as well, but I also made films.
- 5:32SPEAKER_05: So what'd you go into?
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: What did I go into?
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Uh filmmaking and creative writing.
- 5:40SPEAKER_05: You haven't you haven't created a film or creative writing since, have you?
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_05: When?
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know anything about you.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: I've made loads of stuff.
- 5:49SPEAKER_05: Well, have you made?
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Well, not for a long time, but I did used to make loads of stuff.
- 5:52SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Well, oh I'm sorry, you used to.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, is this not are we not filming this right now?
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Are we not are we not on the radio right now?
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: We're not on the radio, but you know what I mean.
- 6:02SPEAKER_05: This is not a real film.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: No.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: No.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, did I do I not film all of your content?
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: Bavich does that.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: No, he takes pictures.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Oh shit.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: I didn't know you guys had a separate job.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: I do all of the filming for Brown Source, Charlon's monthly show.
- 6:21SPEAKER_05: Come?
- 6:23SPEAKER_05: Maybe.
- 6:24SPEAKER_05: What uh what what now that we've done this plug, let's let's leave let's d not do this podcast and let's do some homework.
- 6:30SPEAKER_05: No.
- 6:31SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Not doing any homework ever.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Never going back to school.
- 6:36SPEAKER_05: Every day is a school day.
- 6:39SPEAKER_05: When you have a master's.
- 6:51SPEAKER_05: We're so broken inside that for me it's weird because like I also do therapy, but a lot of us I think are just doing it.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell Yeah, but also tell them how many versions of therapy you do.
- 7:02SPEAKER_05: I do a lot of versions of therapy.
- 7:03SPEAKER_05: And then you're like, wow, Charlotte, you seem unhinged.
- 7:07SPEAKER_05: How is that possible?
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: Well ta-da!
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Is it three versions you do at the moment?
- 7:14SPEAKER_05: Oh not at the moment, but yeah, like now it's just one.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Now it's just one.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Now it's just standard therapy.
- 7:21SPEAKER_05: Just standard therapy.
- 7:22SPEAKER_05: And then I uh uh I also meditate.
- 7:27unknown: Yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I don't count that as a form of therapy though, right?
- 7:29SPEAKER_05: I know, but but like as an I'm still maintaining that.
- 7:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:32SPEAKER_05: Uh this is uh I think who's Chris who's um Tom Segura's wife, Christina something.
- 7:41SPEAKER_05: She has this uh a special out and she's just like she had she does as much as I do, and then she like lists all the stuff that she does.
- 7:47SPEAKER_05: I'm like, that's normal.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's normal.
- 7:49SPEAKER_05: And then she's like, and still I'm like this.
- 7:51SPEAKER_05: I'm like, I get you, Christina! When will it end?
- 7:55SPEAKER_05: When will I be fixed?
- 7:58SPEAKER_05: Somebody fixed it.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: Isn't the goal to not be fixed but to be comfortable in it?
- 8:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, there's no fixing.
- 8:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:04SPEAKER_05: That's what I've learned after three different therapies at the same time.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: There's one there's one form of therapy you did or you do that's like really interesting, though, is like that I've never heard of before.
- 8:14SPEAKER_05: Oh, like somatic.
- 8:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:15SPEAKER_05: Somatic therapy.
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: I didn't know of that before.
- 8:18SPEAKER_05: Well, this is this is the thing.
- 8:19SPEAKER_05: There's so there's talk therapy, which I kind of I've done a lot of, so I I I don't actually do that that much anymore because I figured out how my thoughts work.
- 8:28SPEAKER_05: But like a lot of the tr no, no, no, but like there's a lot of uh trauma in people's bodies.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: So if you have PTSD and all this other stuff, a lot of people uh find uh healing through more more body work.
- 8:41SPEAKER_05: And so because you were like find out where the pain is and then kind of just solve it there.
- 8:45SPEAKER_05: So I I did a lot of that because I was like storing shit.
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: Stuff Do we swear?
- 8:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 8:50SPEAKER_05: I was storing shit in random places.
- 8:51SPEAKER_05: And then I'm like, uh, I feel so much better now.
- 8:55SPEAKER_05: Did I explain that?
- 8:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:57SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm I'm in a I'm my brain fog! I have homework.
- 9:04SPEAKER_05: I am fine.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: I do also love that we're talking about therapy and meditation and everything, right as we before we talk about the movie Dude, where's my car?
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 9:13SPEAKER_05: You know who doesn't need therapy?
- 9:14SPEAKER_05: Those guys.
- 9:15SPEAKER_05: They have it together.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: No, they don't.
- 9:17SPEAKER_05: Do they not?
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: No.
- 9:18SPEAKER_05: Well, you saw a different movie than I did.
- 9:20SPEAKER_05: I was just like, to be this relaxed.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know what?
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe they do.
- 9:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: They're just like, but they kind of don't.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: They don't know their lives together.
- 9:31SPEAKER_05: What?
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: They don't know their lives together.
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: I know, but they don't know.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: They got their brains together with No, not even their brains.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: They got their like they're comfortable with themselves.
- 9:40SPEAKER_05: They're comfortable with themselves, which is the a main point.
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: But like there is like I still remember this one scene where they're at the the the police station and uh the guy just accidentally impounded their car, and he was like, You did what?
- 9:52SPEAKER_05: And he's like, uh, you know how I pressed the wrong button.
- 9:55SPEAKER_05: I was trying to give it to you, and then instead I impounded it.
- 9:58SPEAKER_05: And he was like, Oh, that's alright, man.
- 10:00SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, whoa, that is that is high level of relaxation.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that would be like the worst thing in my mind.
- 10:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_05: I think it would ruin a lot of people's day.
- 10:11SPEAKER_05: And they were just like, uh, you know what, you gave me a donut and I'm fine.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: You'd be okay with a donut or I don't think you'd be okay with anything.
- 10:20SPEAKER_05: What a what a stuff.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: If they gave you anything.
- 10:24SPEAKER_05: If they gave me a donut, would I be happy that they impounded my car?
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Uh there's nothing they could give you except for your car back.
- 10:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but I am trying I think I'm getting better at uh just accepting that sometimes things uh don't go your way.
- 10:39SPEAKER_05: Because uh they don't go your way uh but because like sometimes bad things happen.
- 10:44SPEAKER_05: What what you'd label as bad and then uh what it ends up being is good in the long term.
- 10:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:49SPEAKER_05: Like the b like best example, this is slightly sad, but like I had no un friends in university, like it was it was hard for me to make friends in high school and university.
- 10:57SPEAKER_05: And I was always sad about that.
- 10:59SPEAKER_05: But if I did have close friends there, would I be here?
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: So like it's it's always stuff like that.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: There's a reason for it.
- 11:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Not necessarily a reason for it, but like there's a the it leads to something.
- 11:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, like you don't know what that will result in.
- 11:13SPEAKER_05: So I'm I if my p car got impounded and the guy gave me a donut instead, I think I would still be mad, but I'd be like, maybe this will be good in the long run.
- 11:26SPEAKER_05: And then I would go to my body therapist because I would my maybe there would be a car-shaped bigger.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Is that what happens?
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: You get it shape it gets shaped into a car.
- 11:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, like it's like, oh, there seems to be a pain in your body, and then there's a car.
- 11:42SPEAKER_05: That doesn't make any sense.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: I get it.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: That's not how it works.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: No.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Uh okay.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: Dude, where's my car?
- 11:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: It's rated 17%.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: That's ridiculous.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: 17% from critics, 47 from audience.
- 11:59SPEAKER_05: That's about right.
- 12:00SPEAKER_05: That's about right.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: That's about right.
- 12:02SPEAKER_05: Well, the thing is, I re-watched it today and I was gonna-watched it yesterday.
- 12:07SPEAKER_05: I was skipping through it.
- 12:08SPEAKER_05: I was gonna skip through it and so I can get here on time.
- 12:11SPEAKER_05: But I got I got like uh enthralled.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you're supposed to be.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: This is supposed to be a film that you enjoy.
- 12:17SPEAKER_05: I remembered enjoying it, but I didn't think it'd capture my imagination again.
- 12:21SPEAKER_05: I was like having a good time.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: How when did you first see it?
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: Do you remember?
- 12:26SPEAKER_05: Teenager.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Teenager.
- 12:28SPEAKER_05: It's an is a nineties movie, right?
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: It's uh 2000 2000 exactly.
- 12:34SPEAKER_05: That's university.
- 12:36SPEAKER_05: Isn't it?
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: 2000.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: No.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: You went in university in 2000.
- 12:42SPEAKER_05: I'm a genius.
- 12:43SPEAKER_05: Uh no, no, it's uh yeah, I was a teenager.
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: Because I was eleven.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: There's no way you would I'm a genius.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: How old are you?
- 12:54SPEAKER_05: I'm eternal.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Um But yeah, so you saw it when you were a teenager.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: Uh do you remember how many times you've seen it?
- 13:02SPEAKER_05: I think probably three or four times.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: What made you pick it then?
- 13:07SPEAKER_05: I just I j remember enjoying it.
- 13:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: And then you saw it on the list of of movies.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_05: I didn't I didn't put in any more effort than that.
- 13:16SPEAKER_05: I'm so sorry.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: You didn't put any effort in until an hour before the podcast.
- 13:20SPEAKER_05: Hey, at least I did the effort now.
- 13:23SPEAKER_05: I did it instead of doing homework, which we could do.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Sometimes people don't even watch the p the movie again.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: No! But because they've seen it so many times.
- 13:31SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 13:32SPEAKER_05: Fine.
- 13:33SPEAKER_05: I was like, well, I could have not done that.
- 13:34SPEAKER_05: No, it was actually enjoyable.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: I need you to remember it.
- 13:38SPEAKER_05: I remember it enough.
- 13:40unknown: No, I didn't.
- 13:42SPEAKER_05: I was like, this is a whole new movie.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: There's a lot that I forgot.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: So like all right, let me let I'll describe the plot.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Um Put your phone away.
- 13:52SPEAKER_05: No, no, it's because I m made notes.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Oh right.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: Okay, fair enough.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: I didn't ask you to make notes, actually.
- 13:58unknown: I know.
- 13:58SPEAKER_05: I didn't make it.
- 13:59SPEAKER_03: No, that's good.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: That's so studious.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: I'm I have a master.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Um so the movie the plot of the movie is it's these two Stoner guys.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: They wake up uh in the morning and they they they don't remember the night before, but something has happened and their car is gone, and they go on and then they get all these people coming after them saying you're missing the you you've got the trans what's it called?
- 14:27SPEAKER_05: The transistor wait.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Uh What is it called?
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I wrote it down somewhere.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: It's like Continuum Transfunctioner.
- 14:37SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Continuum transfunctioner.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: Um from space.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: And you have to get it back for us, and each of them like multiple people are lying, but they don't know who's who's lying and who's telling the truth about it and who needs it.
- 14:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:56SPEAKER_05: But basically, like even the what what's it called?
- 14:59SPEAKER_05: Continuum transformation.
- 15:00SPEAKER_05: Transfunctioner.
- 15:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:01SPEAKER_05: Like that's such a from space.
- 15:03SPEAKER_05: What a stupid name.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: It's so dumb.
- 15:05SPEAKER_05: But that's what it what I like about this movie because it's so self-aware that they didn't try to make it interesting because they're like, this is a dumb movie.
- 15:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:14SPEAKER_05: I mean it's a stoner movie.
- 15:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: But the other thing about it is as well, I don't remember it being a stoner movie.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: So when I back went back and watched it, at the beginning of the movie, it doesn't open with like stoner stuff.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: But if but it feels like they're alu just alluding to it.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: So I thought, oh, they're just gonna like go around like skirt around saying they could call them stoners.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: But then like about 15, 20 minutes in, they called them stoners, and I was like, oh, they're actually it takes for the dog to smoke weed first before they actually call them stoners.
- 15:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: And I was like, that's weird.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: I wonder if they just tried to keep it out of the movie.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: I don't think so, because if you think about all the other movies that are along those times, like Harold and Kumar and all those other things.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Same director.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: Is it?
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: No, wait, same is it same director or same writer?
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Same director, same director.
- 16:01SPEAKER_05: Uh I loved Harold and Kumar.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: I love Harold and Kumar.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 16:04SPEAKER_05: I watched that so many times.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Harold and Kumar is one of my favorites.
- 16:08SPEAKER_05: I could have done Harold and Kumar.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: No, you couldn't.
- 16:10SPEAKER_05: No.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Well, shouldn't have said that for later on, but who's doing it?
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: You can't it's it's I just can't tell you the rating.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: Ah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: For the game later on.
- 16:22SPEAKER_05: Um It's too high.
- 16:23SPEAKER_05: I get it now.
- 16:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: So I got that from the context.
- 16:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_05: Um Whoa.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Or is it?
- 16:29SPEAKER_05: No, it's no, you're not that good about it.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: It's too high.
- 16:34SPEAKER_05: Because you got high.
- 16:35SPEAKER_05: Um that guy's a preacher now.
- 16:38SPEAKER_05: Um he is, yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: I saw a documentary on that.
- 16:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 16:42SPEAKER_05: Um But of uh around those times, there were just a lot of people who were actively smoking on the film.
- 16:48SPEAKER_05: I don't think it was a problem.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: No, but like I there's only one guy that smokes in it.
- 16:54SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 16:54SPEAKER_05: I I I don't think they they may have made a choice to I reckon they kept it uh small enough that they decided whether to keep it in or not.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: That's what I think they do.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: I think they were trying to decide like what the rating would be of the movie.
- 17:07SPEAKER_05: That's fair.
- 17:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: That's that's my thought about it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell Question.
- 17:10SPEAKER_05: Do you know how old these people are?
- 17:12SPEAKER_05: Because they never mention it.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: I'm assuming like early twenties.
- 17:16SPEAKER_05: I they all look 30, and I think they were.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Ashton Kudja was nowhere near 30 at that point.
- 17:21SPEAKER_05: Ashton Kutcher looks the same no matter what he is.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he does.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: He does, but like, okay, so 2000, he would have been let's have a look.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: 2000, and he was born in 70.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: So he was 22.
- 17:38SPEAKER_05: He was born when?
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: 78.
- 17:40SPEAKER_05: 78.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: So he was 21 or 22 when they were filming it.
- 17:42SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, he looks the same no matter what.
- 17:44SPEAKER_05: And also, uh Jennifer Gardner's in it.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she's in it, and that's mad.
- 17:50SPEAKER_05: That's crazy.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: I love it.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Her role is such a nothing role.
- 17:54SPEAKER_05: But I think this is what I okay.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: How old is she in this?
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: She must she must have been older.
- 17:59SPEAKER_05: She must have been.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: I feel like she's older than them.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: 72, so she was twenty s 28.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, good math.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: It's quite easy when it's 2000.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: Um so but I I mean it just feels quite nostalgic when you could just.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: It's very nostalgic, yeah.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: That's what I learned that's one thing I did really enjoy about it.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: It was very nostalgic.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: For that time of time period.
- 18:31SPEAKER_05: And like literally, like uh i you couldn't make this movie now.
- 18:35SPEAKER_05: I I was actually thinking about how how you could potentially make this movie now.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: No, you can't.
- 18:39SPEAKER_05: Because what can you imagine like two girls waking up and not remembering the night before?
- 18:43SPEAKER_05: It would be a drama, you know?
- 18:44SPEAKER_05: Uh but uh it was it was like but like the girls had no role except for to be sexu sexual, you know.
- 18:52SPEAKER_05: Like everyone gets hit in the dick.
- 18:54SPEAKER_05: Um there's some questionable choices, uh but it w it was quite of its time.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: It's very of its time.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: Like th there's nothing about this like when I was watching it, I was like, this there's a lot about this movie that just does not hold up whatsoever.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: It's it's there's a lot of like very offensive stuff in this net like now that was f considered funny at the time.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Like there's a lot of like trans jokes in it, there's a lot of gay jokes in it, and it's just like seen as normal.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: It's really weird.
- 19:25SPEAKER_05: Well, the the the that's the thing we gotta remember.
- 19:27SPEAKER_05: Like it it was of its time.
- 19:29SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 19:30SPEAKER_05: And w we were okay with it at the time.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: It's crazy though, isn't it?
- 19:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: Because it's just like, wow, this is so blatant as well.
- 19:37SPEAKER_05: Do you know what I can't get over it?
- 19:39SPEAKER_05: Because there was there was this one scene with a little person in it, and then they're just like they just the they yeah, there were just one scene.
- 19:46SPEAKER_05: Basically, they were like, oh, we mix a mistake in you, and it was somebody else.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:50SPEAKER_05: And they didn't have a huge joke about it, but I then it jogged all these memories of literally they were the butt brunt of a lot of jokes.
- 19:56SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, whoa, holy crap.
- 19:59SPEAKER_05: It was so b it was so bad.
- 20:00SPEAKER_05: Like there were so many movies where anyway, I'm not gonna recall it.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: Well, there's like there's also like even the same year that this came out, there was the um when Scary Movie came out as well, and there was the Miss Man joke.
- 20:13SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: So there was a lot of stuff with that as well, even at that time.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: But like I don't know, it's and then there's all the gay jokes in Scary Movie as well, with uh Sean Sean Wayne's character.
- 20:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: It's weird.
- 20:28SPEAKER_05: It's I mean like but i i I I can't uh obviously say but it's it's the reason I I wasn't laughing specifically at those parts, but the whole thing seemed like the intention was just so stupid that it was still enjoyable to watch.
- 20:43SPEAKER_05: Right, right.
- 20:43SPEAKER_05: And nostalgic.
- 20:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:45SPEAKER_05: Um but I obviously can't comment on those things.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: So what you're saying is not you're nostalgic for all those jokes.
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: I wish you know, you can't say anything like that.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you can't you can't get away with anything now.
- 20:56SPEAKER_05: I know, I know.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: And that's the problem with comedy now.
- 20:58SPEAKER_05: Oh I look forward to your chord chortle article uh where you quit comedy.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Wait, who are you talking about?
- 21:07SPEAKER_05: Nobody I actually don't know this person.
- 21:11SPEAKER_05: I was just I don't I didn't know who that was either.
- 21:16SPEAKER_05: If I ever become uh if I n no one knows my name, then I'll do I'll do it now.
- 21:23SPEAKER_05: How dare you?
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: I'm on this podcast!
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: That means something exactly.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: That means something.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: So this movie.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: It's it's a it's just a stoner comedy.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: So let's talk through it.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Let's go through the plot.
- 21:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:46SPEAKER_05: Plot?
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: I mean it does have a structure.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 21:49SPEAKER_05: And this is the other thing I liked about it.
- 21:51SPEAKER_05: Uh it was like the pacing was so good.
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: Like every time there was no l lull because there was new information coming at the exact right time.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's always something going on in this movie.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: That's one good thing about it.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: There's never there's never like each scene does have a purpose, which is good.
- 22:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 22:07SPEAKER_01: Because like a lot of times in Stoner comedies, they can just like I don't know if it's the the Apital style, but like when he sort of came along with the Stoner stuff, uh it started to get like really long movies that just his movies started to be like two and a half hours long.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: And they had scenes where just like people are just improvising and having nothing to do and just like just there for f just there for jokes and whatever, but like there's no purpose to the scene.
- 22:34SPEAKER_05: I think you've just really uh explained why I enjoyed it so much.
- 22:38SPEAKER_05: It just felt like every scene was like it was interesting, the right thing came in, so you you get it kept engaged, and then it ended.
- 22:46SPEAKER_05: So it was just like uh yeah, the pacing was so good.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Do you know another thing that blew my mind?
- 22:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: So let me bring it up exactly because I want to get it right.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: So it cost the budget was 13 million.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: What?
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: I mean that makes sense.
- 23:01SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah, I guess.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of special effects in this.
- 23:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you mean the the tall woman with the really bad CGI.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: The really bad green screen.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: That was you can see like the outline from her.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Oh really.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: I really noticed it.
- 23:15SPEAKER_05: Oh god.
- 23:16SPEAKER_01: She's like she's like very uh like 2D and flat.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: You can see exactly where the outline is.
- 23:23SPEAKER_05: I still remember the line.
- 23:24SPEAKER_05: It's like, I want to go on that ride.
- 23:30SPEAKER_05: We're talking about this giant alien giant alien woman.
- 23:34SPEAKER_05: Woman who was scantly dressed and very attractive.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you see her underwear.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: You see her underwear, yeah.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: Um But yeah, so it costs$13 million.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Guess how much it grows worldwide?
- 23:44SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, it must grow so much.
- 23:47SPEAKER_05: Uh I it's not billion range, so two two$250 million.
- 23:53SPEAKER_05: What?
- 23:55SPEAKER_05: That's too low.
- 23:56SPEAKER_05: That's so high.
- 23:57SPEAKER_05: That's so high.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: So much money.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: $2.50?
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: $250 for a for a stone accommodate.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, fine.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Uh$150.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: It's still so high.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: It grows$73 million, which is huge.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: For$2,000, yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
- 24:12SPEAKER_05: So that's uh six times?
- 24:13SPEAKER_05: Six times the Something like that.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: That's so much money though.
- 24:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: $73 million on a 13 budget is huge.
- 24:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:22SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 24:22SPEAKER_05: I I just thought, because I watched it, that everyone else was watching it.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: No, this is also 2,000.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: So that's probably like the equivalent of near on a hundred now, isn't it?
- 24:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_05: So I was correct.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: No, you said two hundred and fifty.
- 24:35SPEAKER_05: And then I said a hundred.
- 24:37SPEAKER_05: If I ever remember.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: Check the tape.
- 24:41SPEAKER_05: Don't.
- 24:42SPEAKER_05: Because I know I'm wrong.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Because like that this kind of movie would make first of all, it would go straight to Netflix now or something like that.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: But if but if it ever got released in like cinemas or whatever, it would make like it would cost it would cost five million.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: They would have a five million budget and it would make three million.
- 25:05unknown: Yeah.
- 25:06SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 25:06SPEAKER_05: But you know what?
- 25:07SPEAKER_05: This is another thing I liked about this movie.
- 25:10SPEAKER_05: Like this was a good movie compared to some of the shit you see in Netflix.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 25:14SPEAKER_05: That has no plot or anything.
- 25:15SPEAKER_05: And I'm like this.
- 25:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 25:17SPEAKER_05: There's a lot of plot.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's not a lot of flot, but is it?
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: It's it has a plot.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: There is enough plot.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: It's got plot.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: It's got plot.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: So let's let's we'll talk through it then.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: So it opens.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: It opens and it says based on actual events.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: Which is a great.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: I always like when they do that with movies as well, when it's just like it's clearly not.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: They did it with Fargo.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: I thought it was actually based on actual events.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: So many people believed that Fargo was based on actual events because it that's so because it seems like it could be.
- 25:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: This obviously does not.
- 25:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 25:52SPEAKER_06: What giant is it?
- 25:53SPEAKER_06: This is so clearly a joke.
- 25:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Uh there's another movie that does it as well.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: I can't remember what it is, but there's another movie that's like clearly fake.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: That's like they do that.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: But I I I think this is the first one that I've seen where it's like clearly a fake movie that's just based on actual events.
- 26:05SPEAKER_05: Um self-aware.
- 26:07SPEAKER_05: It's just it's humorous.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: I think that the writer never went.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: I have to bring this up because you might enjoy this.
- 26:15SPEAKER_01: The film's story came from a rejected live-action Beavers and Butthead movie concept in the late 90s.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Which makes so much sense.
- 26:23SPEAKER_05: Yes, 100%.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: It's so clearly Beavers and Butthead.
- 26:26SPEAKER_05: Exactly, exactly.
- 26:27SPEAKER_05: And it's uh I have I don't think I remember Beavers and Butthead.
- 26:31SPEAKER_05: Are they as uh dumb as the main characters?
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell More so.
- 26:34SPEAKER_05: No, but aren't they like unlikable?
- 26:36SPEAKER_05: Beavers and butthead?
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: I don't know about unlikable unlikable, but they're like I don't know, there's a charm to them.
- 26:44SPEAKER_05: I yeah.
- 26:45SPEAKER_05: Uh the i the thing the thing for me, I I f w watching this at rapid pace because I was worried about being late, which I was watching this 75-minute movie at rapid pace.
- 26:56unknown: I did.
- 26:57SPEAKER_05: Um I thought uh that the main two characters were very similar.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Yes, that is a good point.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: There's not a lot of difference between them.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: But then again, Beavis and Butterhead is not a lot of difference between them.
- 27:08SPEAKER_05: I can't remember Beavis and Butthead.
- 27:10SPEAKER_05: Uh so maybe it was the same.
- 27:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: They are kind of similar.
- 27:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: But it kind of works in Beavis and Butterhead.
- 27:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:17SPEAKER_05: It's kind of like uh still talking to themselves, really.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell Yeah.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: Actually, that's true.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: But they f they do play off each other.
- 27:24SPEAKER_05: I mean it it it advances the plot.
- 27:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: And if I had to say that say Ashton Kutcher is more of the lead.
- 27:38SPEAKER_05: I can't remember.
- 27:39SPEAKER_05: Because I like have to literally skip parts.
- 27:42SPEAKER_05: Because what I didn't tell you is I started it way later than I said it.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Someone watched five minutes of the movie.
- 27:50SPEAKER_05: I did not.
- 27:50SPEAKER_05: I watched more than that, but I skipped bits.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: Um I can't I can't remember if he's more of a He's more I would say he le he takes control a little bit more.
- 27:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: And Sean Williams Scott is a little bit of a more of a background character.
- 28:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:04SPEAKER_05: But also don't you watch just Sean William Scott and then just think, oh my god, this just reminds you of your childhood.
- 28:09SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 28:09SPEAKER_05: Because he was in everything for a while.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this So this this was the year he was like in so many things.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: He was like he was coming off of American Pie.
- 28:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: He was in Evolution.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Did you ever see that?
- 28:22SPEAKER_05: I think I did, but I don't remember at all.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Final Destination?
- 28:26SPEAKER_05: Oh yes!
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: All around this is like the same year, like all of those movies.
- 28:31SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
- 28:32SPEAKER_05: Did you watch uh I didn't remember he was in Final Destination, but do you did you watch the latest Final Destination?
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: As in like the one 10 years ago.
- 28:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, there isn't one cut that came out.
- 28:42SPEAKER_05: I didn't watch it.
- 28:43SPEAKER_05: I just randomly YouTube is recommended.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: The ending of it.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love it.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: It's so good.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because I saw it.
- 28:49SPEAKER_05: The ending of the latest one.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I went to see it.
- 28:52SPEAKER_05: Oh! And then it goes back to the beginning.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: That's so crazy.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: It's good.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: The movie is terrible, and then it gets to that, and you're like, whoa! You're like, whoa, I love this.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: It might be the best ending of all of them.
- 29:03SPEAKER_05: But that's like that's like a comedy set, right?
- 29:05SPEAKER_05: Like you can have a shitty comedy set, but if it just goes back to the case.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, as long as it as long as you've got a callback in it.
- 29:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, callback in it.
- 29:12SPEAKER_03: Come on! This girl knows some structure.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: I did that in my first ever comedy set, and people were like, wow, he's got a callback in it.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: That's so clever for a c for a first timer.
- 29:21SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 29:21SPEAKER_05: But he didn't get better since then, so that's awkward.
- 29:24unknown: That was five years ago.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: So But then I didn't do stand-up again for four years.
- 29:31SPEAKER_05: Because we didn't want you back.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: It wasn't you.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: It was me.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: It was probably the same time you started.
- 29:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I started ten minutes ago.
- 29:41SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to think, yeah, I'm trying to find out uh what else he was in around that time.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: Because he was in But Ashton Kutcher was coming off of um that 70 show.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Like he was a couple of years into it at the time.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: So he was they were both very big at the time.
- 29:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:57SPEAKER_05: And they have really big names in there.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: Road trip as well.
- 30:01SPEAKER_05: Road trip.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Scrum William Scott's in Road Trip as well.
- 30:05SPEAKER_05: What was the plot of that?
- 30:06SPEAKER_05: Well Road.
- 30:07SPEAKER_05: Road Trip?
- 30:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 30:09SPEAKER_05: Was it a road trip?
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: Road trip is a Road Trip is a classic teen comedy where um so this guy um thinks he's breaking up with his girl thinks his girlfriend has broken up with him, and then he sleeps with um he sleeps with this other girl who he likes and accidentally and records it and then accident accidentally sends his real girlfriend the tape, thinking it's like a music thing that he's recorded for her.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: And it's like this whole complication.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: Then he realizes he's actually with her, he's still with her, and then he has to like drive to across country with his friends to go and get the tape back.
- 30:48SPEAKER_05: What a what a plot.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: I know, I know.
- 30:51SPEAKER_05: That's crazy.
- 30:51SPEAKER_05: But that reminds me of Eurotrip.
- 30:53SPEAKER_05: You remember Eurotrip?
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course I remember Eurotrip.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Eurotrip was great.
- 30:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it was so good.
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: It was just uh That's all these movies are just like misunderstandings from I mean that's still all movies are but yeah like now it's just like I would call her.
- 31:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 31:10SPEAKER_05: I mean the the stakes are kind of low.
- 31:12SPEAKER_05: I mean high.
- 31:13SPEAKER_05: It's a r there are relationships, but it's just really you just get a you assemble a gang and then you go.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: But it's it's um uh Sean William Scott is is like playing a stifler type character in it.
- 31:25SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell He's always kind of playing it.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: No, he's not.
- 31:27SPEAKER_05: No.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: He doesn't always do that.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: And when he doesn't do that, he's actually really good as well.
- 31:30SPEAKER_05: Is he?
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: I've seen him play the opposite.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: In Final Destination, he's the opposite of that.
- 31:34SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell I can't remember him in the film because Stifler wasn't there.
- 31:38SPEAKER_05: So I I deleted it from my brain.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: So within within the space of this time, he made So within the space of ninety nine to two thousand one, he made American Pie, Final Destination, Road Trip, Dude Where's My Car, Evolution, and American Pie 2.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: What a big And Jay and Sidon Bolch Right back.
- 31:58SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, he is busy.
- 31:59SPEAKER_05: Wait, is this in a how many year period?
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: 99 to 2001.
- 32:03SPEAKER_05: Oh, so the 10-year period?
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: No, two-year period.
- 32:06SPEAKER_05: Oh, sorry.
- 32:06SPEAKER_05: I said nine I heard 1990.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: 99 to 2001.
- 32:10SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 32:11SPEAKER_05: Oh, wow.
- 32:12SPEAKER_05: That's two years.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: Two years he made all of those movies.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: Like that is he was a star then.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:19SPEAKER_05: He was.
- 32:20SPEAKER_05: And what's happened to him now?
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: He's um he's on a TV show at the moment called Welcome to Flatch, I think.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: But it's he's playing like a uh karma character now.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Like he's not.
- 32:34SPEAKER_05: And that's not why I'm not gonna watch it.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Is it called to Flatch?
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Yeah, welcome to Flatch.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: It's an NBC.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: I think it's an NBC show.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: Peacock.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: Probably Peacock, yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:47SPEAKER_05: An NBC is Peacock.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: Peacock is the streaming service.
- 32:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:52SPEAKER_05: Now I learned something.
- 32:55SPEAKER_05: I'm glad I was here.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: You even have stream you but if you're in the UK, Peacock is on Sky.
- 33:02SPEAKER_05: I don't have Sky.
- 33:03SPEAKER_05: I don't have TV.
- 33:04SPEAKER_01: You have Sid's TV.
- 33:06SPEAKER_05: No, Sid Sid Sid has Sid doesn't mention Sky.
- 33:10SPEAKER_05: Sid Sing.
- 33:11SPEAKER_05: Why are we mentioning Sidney?
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: Sid Sing, shout out to Sid Sing.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: It's my uh flatmate.
- 33:16SPEAKER_05: You are um no longer my flatmate.
- 33:18SPEAKER_05: Go on.
- 33:19SPEAKER_05: I don't know why I did that in this thing.
- 33:21SPEAKER_05: This is how we announced it.
- 33:22SPEAKER_05: I thought this is how I I thought it would be a funny thing that I just did, but it doesn't make any sense.
- 33:28SPEAKER_05: Well, I have to keep with it.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, now now he has to move out.
- 33:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 33:31SPEAKER_05: There's nothing there's nothing else to be done.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Um we still haven't talked about anything over the plot in the movie.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: Um okay, I'm gonna run through it.
- 33:40SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: Uh so it opens based on actual events and there's there's space credits, I called them.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: What?
- 33:49SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm trying not to speak because we literally talked twenty minutes about the first line.
- 33:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: Space credits, and it's so 2000s, I wrote.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: Because it's it's all these like bad CGI of space with every character that's in the movie just like dancing around.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: Do you did you see this bit?
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: No, I literally just had to skip it, yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Okay, so it's every character just flashes up on in space, dancing around as the names come up and everything.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, this is great, because it's like it's his memories of last night, yeah.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: But it's also like you'll see them eventually throughout the movie.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: So I do like that.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: It's a little little it's a little sneak peek about what you're gonna get.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: But it's him remembering it from last night.
- 34:29SPEAKER_05: Ah because then he wakes up and he's like, what happened?
- 34:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: Um and so it's Jesse, Ashley and Coach's character, wakes up and then I didn't realize they had names.
- 34:41SPEAKER_05: Oh, I wrote them down.
- 34:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: And then I don't feel like they ever say their names again.
- 34:45SPEAKER_05: Oh no, no, actually, it does come up a lot.
- 34:46SPEAKER_05: It's like, where is Jesse and Chester?
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: Interchangeable.
- 34:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:51SPEAKER_05: There's no I I didn't if you told me.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: We're gonna go about Ashton and Sean from now on.
- 34:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, because if you told me Ashton was c uh uh Chester, I would have Yeah, exactly.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Um Chester, Sean Sean William Scott's character, is sitting watching TV and he's watching uh Animal Planet with the monkeys.
- 35:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:08SPEAKER_05: Uh but this is what I like, because everything comes back.
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: Yes, everything does but that's what I'm saying.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Everything has a purpose.
- 35:14SPEAKER_05: Yes, everything has a purpose.
- 35:15SPEAKER_05: Which is good.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: That's good that's good.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: Despite how stupid it is, it's still good writing.
- 35:21SPEAKER_05: Yes, yes, it is.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: And I can't believe I'm saying that.
- 35:24SPEAKER_05: No, no, but I think even dumb things uh i th they know there's they're making a dumb movie, but doesn't mean it has to be bad writing.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:32SPEAKER_01: Um and then they've got this is one the one thing that doesn't ever come up again.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: Jean, who's living in their closet, comes out, peas, and then goes back in the closet, peas on the plant, and then goes back in the closet, and they're like they're like, Gene.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Um they're just like, oh, um how do you know Gene?
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Oh, I thought you knew Gene.
- 35:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:53SPEAKER_05: They never resolve it, but he comes at the end of the credits, he's he's also there.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Is that the end of the credits?
- 35:58SPEAKER_05: No, he's not at the end of the credits, at the end of the movie, he he comes back and he pieces his like basically.
- 36:02SPEAKER_05: Oh, right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:03SPEAKER_05: Well, how when they lose their microphone.
- 36:08SPEAKER_05: I think it's just like a weird thing to do.
- 36:10SPEAKER_05: It's like Carol and Kumar where they uh piss next to this weird guy.
- 36:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:14SPEAKER_05: Like there's no purpose, but it's a weird thing to do.
- 36:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: That's a that's a better version of it.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes, yes.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: Um They can't remember last night and they go to get they go to eat and they open the fridge and it's a fridge full of pudding.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: They've stocked up on they've got like so much pudding everywhere, and they're like, did we buy all the pudding?
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: We have a lifetime supply of pudding last night.
- 36:37SPEAKER_05: This is why I think they are stoners slash meditators, because like they're not meditators.
- 36:41SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 36:42SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 36:42SPEAKER_05: But like that's because it comes up later.
- 36:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:44SPEAKER_05: Because I come no, no, no.
- 36:45SPEAKER_05: That's why I'm like, look at how relaxed they are.
- 36:48SPEAKER_05: If I saw it, they had an entire house full of pudding, I'd be like, what the fuck happened?
- 36:52SPEAKER_05: And they're like, ha.
- 36:54SPEAKER_05: Interesting.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: Because they like pudding.
- 36:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but like they're they're just like, did we just buy an entire lifetime worth of pudding?
- 37:02SPEAKER_05: And they're like, I think we did shot.
- 37:04SPEAKER_01: But would you not be okay with that?
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: No.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: Who paid for this?
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: They don't they have one I think they're pizza delivery guys?
- 37:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they have pizza pizza delivery guys.
- 37:13SPEAKER_05: They don't have that kind of money.
- 37:14SPEAKER_05: They don't have yours lifetime worth of pudding money.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: But they they also find out they've trashed last night they trashed their girlfriend's house at a party.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:24SPEAKER_05: They're dating twins.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're dating twins who don't look the same.
- 37:27SPEAKER_05: Well, they're fraternal.
- 37:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: My scissors.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: My sisters are fraternal.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: I know what they are.
- 37:33SPEAKER_05: Um I don't know you had sisters.
- 37:35SPEAKER_05: Do we know each other?
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: You just don't care.
- 37:40SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 37:42SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: She's gonna forget by the end of this podcast.
- 37:48SPEAKER_05: How dare you?
- 37:48SPEAKER_05: How how dare you?
- 37:49SPEAKER_05: What what makes you think that I would forget what we're what what's going on?
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: Stop moving the mic.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: It's gonna get people are gonna be like really annoyed.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: Um Yeah, and then the pizza guy comes shows up, they're deliver they're the pe the owner of the pizza shop.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: He's called Meets Mr.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Pizza Celly.
- 38:09SPEAKER_05: So dumb.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: And he's mad.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: And he and then but they realize that they've took they took all the pizzas from lost from that they're supposed to deliver, and they they still got one remaining, and they throw it on the roof as he comes in.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: Um Then they go outside.
- 38:22SPEAKER_05: Okay, that's the most uh that bit is the most um makes the least amount of sense.
- 38:28SPEAKER_05: I know I know what you're about to say, but basically all he said is like, I know you took these pizzas and they never got delivered.
- 38:34SPEAKER_05: If I catch you doing that, I'm gonna you'll never work in pizza again.
- 38:39SPEAKER_03: I was like, what?
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: They never delivered the pizzas, they shouldn't be fired.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: It's like true.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: I just I didn't even cross my mind.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: I just thought Yeah, I didn't even think about it.
- 38:52SPEAKER_05: Everything else is dumb, but like makes sense.
- 38:54SPEAKER_05: That one I just didn't understand.
- 38:56SPEAKER_05: I'm like, what?
- 38:57SPEAKER_05: That's not how you run a business, Mr.
- 38:59SPEAKER_05: Pizzerley.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: Pizza Celly.
- 39:01SPEAKER_05: Pizza chell oh I'm sorry.
- 39:02SPEAKER_05: Uh pizza chelly.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: Um then they go and then he leaves immediately.
- 39:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:08SPEAKER_05: He's like, that's fine.
- 39:09SPEAKER_05: You don't owe me any money.
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: Pizza falls off the ceiling and they eat it.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: Uh and they go outside and this is where the the title comes in, because they go, dude, where's my car?
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: Where's your car, dude?
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:22SPEAKER_01: And they say it four times, five times, I don't know.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: And then so the car's gone.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: And Oh yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: No, actually, this is the first point where they're called stoners, because the old lady hits them with the car and she goes, Fucking stoners.
- 39:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: And um then they go to see Nelson, the the the hippie.
- 39:44SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell with the smoking dog.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, with the stoner dog.
- 39:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: Who tries to bring them an I don't know what he's trying to do.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: What is he trying to do?
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: Do they go there to just get his car?
- 39:55SPEAKER_05: I think they were trying to figure out where their car was.
- 39:57SPEAKER_05: Also I think they maybe they got some weed.
- 40:00SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: They don't smoke it.
- 40:03SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: You never see them smoke.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: You only see the dog smoke in this movie.
- 40:08SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: But that's my point.
- 40:09SPEAKER_05: I feel like they were trying to every year dog smoking kills one out of three dogs.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: That's a high stat.
- 40:17SPEAKER_05: That's a very high thing.
- 40:19SPEAKER_05: I thought I would love if they did like a PSA right there.
- 40:22SPEAKER_05: It's like one uh at the end of the movie, it's like one out of every three dogs is affected by Save your dog today by calling.
- 40:32SPEAKER_01: But they they all get hungry, so they go for food to the Chinese restaurant.
- 40:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: I can't figure out if that's racist or not because it's slightly racist to me.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: It's slightly.
- 40:43SPEAKER_01: It is slightly racist.
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: But I remember I remember when it first came out and first I first saw it.
- 40:50SPEAKER_01: That was the funniest scene to me.
- 40:52SPEAKER_05: I loved it.
- 40:53SPEAKER_05: And I still laughed at the scene.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: It's so dumb.
- 40:56SPEAKER_05: It's so dumb, but also I'm like, is it is it a stereotype or is it just something funny?
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: That's the thing, it's it's it's not a stereotype, is it?
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: Surely.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: Like I've never had that.
- 41:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 41:06SPEAKER_05: So I think it's just I mean, I think they're making fun of uh uh her accent a little bit, but that's the the tiniest bit.
- 41:13SPEAKER_05: Otherwise, it's just I think it's just a comedy observation.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:16SPEAKER_05: Um I don't know.
- 41:18SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 41:18SPEAKER_05: Somebody else can tell me differently.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: The joke is they're ordering and she keeps going, and then and then, and they're like, that's it.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: And then we're done.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: We're done.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: And then and then and then she just keeps going, and then and then and then and they just get annoyed and they punch the box and break it.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Um I still laughed.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: It's so dumb.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: It's so dumb.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: But it was the funniest thing when I was twelve.
- 41:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: And I was not even born.
- 41:48SPEAKER_05: I was never born.
- 41:50SPEAKER_05: I I was born today.
- 41:52SPEAKER_05: So interesting.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: And then we meet Chrissy Boner.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: It's such a strange thing.
- 42:01SPEAKER_03: Still get Sharlin, see?
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's so good.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: It's so good, it's so dumb.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: And Chrissy Boner is the hottest girl to them.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: It's the hottest girl.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: She just walked Again, no purpose to her.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: Other than to be hot.
- 42:17SPEAKER_05: But I think she I think they're um uh let me think.
- 42:21SPEAKER_05: It do I actually believe this.
- 42:22SPEAKER_05: I think they're uh taking tropes and they're like Yeah, they're definitely taking tropes.
- 42:26SPEAKER_05: And but like I think they're turning them on their header slightly.
- 42:29SPEAKER_05: So she they're in these kind of movies, they have to have that giant hot girl.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:33SPEAKER_05: And they do have a giant hot girl in the end.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: They're playing a little bit to the tropes, but it's it's still leaning into it a little bit.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:45SPEAKER_01: But she's she's the girlfriend of the town bully.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: I guess.
- 42:51SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know what.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: Again, they're like The weird thing is it's like high school jocks, but they're not, because they're old it makes no sense.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: No any of them can be in university.
- 43:04SPEAKER_01: None of them are universal.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: And everyone's so dumb.
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: Everyone is dumb in this movie.
- 43:08SPEAKER_05: Everyone's so dumb.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: There's not a single smart person in this movie.
- 43:11SPEAKER_05: But it it reminds me, like it's just a bigger one.
- 43:15SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 43:15SPEAKER_05: Everyone's just and it that's just joyful, I think.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: Um So there's a suitcase of so they find out there's a suitcase of money that they lost.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: And he and they gave Ashton Kutcher gave Chrissy Boner some money to make out with her or touch her boobs or something like that.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Weird.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: And she's like, you don't remember that?
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: Um and then Tommy and his crew show up and they call they say that we won't we're gonna do stoner bashing time.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: Um then they go to the Kitty Cat Club.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: Which is a strip club without without stripping.
- 43:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_05: There is no stripping at all.
- 43:59SPEAKER_05: It's like the Thong strip.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because this this is a 12.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: This is a 12A.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: Or PG13 or whatever, I think.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: So you see a You see a lap dance he gets a lap dance from Tanya, Tanya, who is this is where it gets offensive because they call her a gender-challenged male.
- 44:17SPEAKER_05: So I don't know if she's uh I don't know her pronouns, actually, because she doesn't I mean they don't say it.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: No, but they they say gender ch challenged male.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: I'm she says I'm a gender-challenged male.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 44:28SPEAKER_01: Which is like that's not something Yeah.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: She wouldn't have re No if it was if and they make a joke about her having a penis and but 200 her money,$200,000 is missing.
- 44:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:44SPEAKER_05: But I guess uh the good part of this film is like yeah, they're obviously making things that you couldn't say this day and it obviously bad stereotypes.
- 44:52SPEAKER_05: But that character is a cool character.
- 44:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: There's nothing wrong with her character.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:57SPEAKER_05: And I'm like it's not r she's not really the butt of the joke, whereas it is the inspiration.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: One of the other things, actually, I noticed the two of them keep calling her a she.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: Which is a good thing.
- 45:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: So I think they don't call her a man.
- 45:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: So that's a good thing.
- 45:12SPEAKER_05: I think the intention is g uh of this movie is a nice movie.
- 45:17SPEAKER_05: Uh like obviously they make jokes that was okay at the time and we uh the we wouldn't want them anymore.
- 45:22SPEAKER_05: But like the she has a character arc and she does some cool things, and she has a girlfriend, you know?
- 45:27SPEAKER_05: And it's always good.
- 45:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:29SPEAKER_05: And even Ashton Kutcher at the end is like, am I supposed to be mad at that?
- 45:32SPEAKER_05: And he was obviously not.
- 45:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:34SPEAKER_05: Um anyway, go.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Um so they go to the girlfriends, they think uh, oh, we must have got the girlfriend's like really good gifts.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: And so they go to the girlfriend, they just show up there, assuming that they've got I don't know what No one has a phone.
- 45:47SPEAKER_05: And also the girlfriend's like, we're so mad at you.
- 45:50SPEAKER_05: You're never like the like saying plot.
- 45:53SPEAKER_05: We're so mad at you.
- 45:54SPEAKER_05: This is our anniversary.
- 45:55SPEAKER_05: Do you remember it's our anniversary?
- 45:56SPEAKER_05: And also you're never good at anything and you never follow through.
- 46:00SPEAKER_05: I wonder if this will come up at the end of the movie.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: But they can they they go to the girlfriend's house, it's trashed.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: They decide to help out, they're gonna they go, oh, we're gonna help out.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: And they and then they start taking the trash out and immediately destroy the house again.
- 46:17SPEAKER_05: Of course.
- 46:18SPEAKER_05: Everyone gets kids.
- 46:19SPEAKER_01: So they get kick kicked out, then they get kidnapped by Zoltan's group.
- 46:22SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: Zoltan.
- 46:23SPEAKER_05: Zoltan.
- 46:24SPEAKER_05: I loved I love that.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: Zoltan.
- 46:26SPEAKER_05: No, no, it was so good.
- 46:27SPEAKER_05: My favorite part is like, first of all, Jeff.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: Jeff.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: They've all got Z names except for Jeff.
- 46:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, who's like Jeff, which is a good uh very good comic joke.
- 46:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's a good joke.
- 46:37SPEAKER_05: But at the the same thing is every time they say Zoltan, they have to do this.
- 46:40SPEAKER_05: But the guy the guy who everyone does it at the same time, except for the guy who's driving, who has he's obviously driving, so he he does it like a second later and he's like Zoltan.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: I didn't notice that.
- 46:51SPEAKER_03: Let me laugh the whole every time.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: It's like everyone's Zoltan! Zolt Zoltan.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: And they're all wearing these like they're all wearing these um like bubbles, bubble pop uh bubble wrap suits.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: Which is just so dumb.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:07SPEAKER_01: But I I it just makes so much noise, and then the two guys are just popping them the entire time.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: Um But they tell them you have to find the continuum transfunctioner.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: This is where I think this is all the first time we hear about us, yeah.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Um but then again, just keep the plot just keeps moving.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: They kick them out of the car to go find the continuum transfunctioner.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: They they kick them out by this dry cleaners.
- 47:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: Where uh or tailor.
- 47:31SPEAKER_04: Fortuitously.
- 47:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they kick them out by the tailor like tailor dry cleaner sort of place.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: And they they find out they've got um the guy comes out and he's like, Oh, you don't remember last night you bought these these tracksuits that we got.
- 47:42SPEAKER_05: Dis tracksuits.
- 47:43SPEAKER_05: Do they get sponsored?
- 47:44SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: It's like, whoa, these are so cool.
- 47:47SPEAKER_05: I would wear them all the time.
- 47:49SPEAKER_05: And I'm Ashen Kusher, yeah.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Those are quite nice.
- 47:53SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 47:54SPEAKER_05: You want it for that time.
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: For that time, yeah, because we were walking around wearing tracksuits.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: People were.
- 48:00SPEAKER_05: Remember tearways?
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_03: We why?
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, we couldn't just take up pants?
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: What kind of- I had a pair when I was that age.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: I know, so did I.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: But why weren't they cool?
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: Who needs tear aways?
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: To go to the bathroom quicker.
- 48:17SPEAKER_05: No, they're not.
- 48:18SPEAKER_05: Because because my my tear away is basically it ended over here.
- 48:21SPEAKER_05: Where are you going?
- 48:22SPEAKER_05: No, it ended here.
- 48:23SPEAKER_05: So all you would see is anywhere.
- 48:25SPEAKER_05: So did mine.
- 48:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so it's not you're not, you're not doing that.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: I don't know if that was on camera or not.
- 48:32SPEAKER_05: I don't know, but like I loved how like anxious you were like, are you leaving?
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: I'm like, No, I was like, is it gonna be on camera or is it not?
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: You're just gonna walk away and go, remember here.
- 48:40SPEAKER_05: He's obsessed with me.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: No, I'm obsessed with it being He's obsessed with me.
- 48:46SPEAKER_05: What?
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: I'm obsessed with it being on camera.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Film degree.
- 48:52unknown: Obsessed.
- 48:53SPEAKER_01: Um So they have their track suits and they find Oh no.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: They find out they've got tattoos.
- 49:00SPEAKER_05: Dude, sweet.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: One of them's got dude, one of them's got sweet, and it's on the back of their it's on their necks on the back or something, and they're just like they know they go, dude, what does mine say?
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: Sweet, what about mine?
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Dude, what does mine say?
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: Sweet.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: And they go back and forth maybe too long.
- 49:16SPEAKER_05: But this uh it's one of the jokes that come up, is it's the same joke type as uh uh and then is that repetition that keeps going on a little too long.
- 49:24SPEAKER_05: There will be people who laugh at it.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: It's um it's who's on first.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: It's that joke.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: Do you Do you not know the Who's On First joke?
- 49:33SPEAKER_01: It's uh so it's it's um Abbott and Costello.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: I want to say it's Abbott and Costello.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: I can't I might be wrong.
- 49:39SPEAKER_01: But it's like an it's like an old like 30s or 40s joke about like these baseball players, and it's like who's on first?
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Who?
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, who's on first?
- 49:48SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:49SPEAKER_05: Definitely.
- 49:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: It's that.
- 49:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 49:51SPEAKER_05: But no, they also do repetition quite well and a little bit too long, but it will make people laugh.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: It's like where you come back around again to laugh.
- 50:00SPEAKER_01: Um they find a Rubik's Cube, which k is important.
- 50:05unknown: Yeah.
- 50:06SPEAKER_05: Everything's important.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: We'll find out later why.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: Um there's this weird scene where they like they they find they find out they've leased a Mercedes.
- 50:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: And you see this like music video.
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: They do a music video to bust a move.
- 50:21SPEAKER_05: Uh oh, I think I skipped that part accidentally.
- 50:24SPEAKER_05: It's got no purpose to anything.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: It's just like an old 80s music, like old 80s or 90s music video.
- 50:30SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 50:31SPEAKER_05: I gotta re-watch this.
- 50:32SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna rewatch this movie when it's amazing.
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: It's like a whole music video.
- 50:36SPEAKER_05: Um I l but the Fabio scene is right there.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it goes right to the like Fabio.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: I'm glad you know who that was.
- 50:42SPEAKER_03: Remember Fabio?
- 50:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:44SPEAKER_03: I can't remember.
- 50:44SPEAKER_03: I used some.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: I thought you weren't gonna know who that was.
- 50:47SPEAKER_03: I was I just saw him and I'm like, oh my god, he was in everything.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: He was, yeah, for no reason.
- 50:52SPEAKER_05: Well, wh why was he famous?
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: He was a male model.
- 50:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, was he in all the covers of like the trashy girl?
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so he was on the cover covers of those like uh books.
- 51:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: Like the romance novels.
- 51:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:04SPEAKER_05: But like if you saw Fabio in the street, you wouldn't never want Fabio back.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: No, he's so ugly.
- 51:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but like that he was on everything, and I'm like, oh my god, I forgot about Fabio.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: He's like really yeah, he's a weird looking man.
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: I don't understand it.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: But yeah, so Fabio is is drives up, n pulls up next to them uh with a girl, and they just have like this competition going back and forth of like one-upping each other.
- 51:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: And it ends with a kiss.
- 51:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:30SPEAKER_05: Um, again, like it's slightly maybe homophobic, but again, I think the intention was like uh they were one-uping each other, and they're just so dumb.
- 51:38SPEAKER_05: Like Fabio w wanted to be like, oh look, I have this hot girl.
- 51:42SPEAKER_05: And so Ashton Kutcher puts his hands like, well, I'm with my friend.
- 51:45SPEAKER_05: And puts his hand over, I'm with my friend.
- 51:48SPEAKER_05: It's like, well, I'm gonna kiss my hot girl.
- 51:49SPEAKER_05: I'm like, well, I guess I'm gonna kiss my friend.
- 51:55SPEAKER_01: Um then they get arrested.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: And they go to they go to prison uh uh they go to jail and uh No, no, they don't go to jail.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: Sorry, they go to um uh what's it called?
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: Interrogation.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: Interrogation room, yeah.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: And they they get they get questioned about everything.
- 52:15SPEAKER_01: This is really stupid, but I really like the scene.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 52:17SPEAKER_05: They bring in like a like a a dull and the the the police start punching the dull and like basically I think that their their their tr trope uh the take is the trope was like Mr.
- 52:29SPEAKER_05: a mean guy like the bad guy and the bad cup and good cup, but it's like they went to uh sensitivity training, so they're like we can't treat real people like that.
- 52:36SPEAKER_05: So what we're gonna do is bring a crash test dummy to the colour.
- 52:40SPEAKER_05: It's like crash test dummy, isn't it?
- 52:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:41SPEAKER_05: And it's like, this is what we could do to you.
- 52:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:44SPEAKER_05: And so they keep beating the thing up, but Sean Williams Scott gets so upset.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's like, leave him alone.
- 52:50SPEAKER_03: He didn't do anything to you.
- 52:52SPEAKER_01: I like what I liked about this, it's very naked gun.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: I like that about it.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: Have you ever seen Naked Gun?
- 52:57SPEAKER_05: I have, I just can't remember.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: It's like very much that humor of naked gun.
- 53:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: Uh so I I I really enjoyed that scene.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: That might be the funniest thing to me.
- 53:05SPEAKER_05: I I really enjoyed it because they're like, what so do you remember anything?
- 53:09SPEAKER_05: And then they're like, uh and the uh the the Ash and Kutcher are like, no.
- 53:13SPEAKER_05: And then he's like, what if I did this?
- 53:15SPEAKER_05: And they take out like they beat him the crash duff dummy up.
- 53:18SPEAKER_05: And then they're like, what about now?
- 53:20SPEAKER_05: And took a cigarette out?
- 53:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: It just deflates, doesn't it?
- 53:25SPEAKER_05: And Sean Williams was like, I I wish I could talk.
- 53:28SPEAKER_05: I wish.
- 53:29SPEAKER_05: Sean William Scott says, I wish I could talk.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:33SPEAKER_05: Sorry, I get excited and cannot enunciate or finish sentences.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: Anyway, they find out that they um they find out they don't owe um they they have an alibi with one of the policemen.
- 53:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: And so they get released.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: But then they go to get their car uh released.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: And this is the scene we were talking about with the donuts, and the guy tries to release the car accidentally impounds it.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: And so they have to go to the impound lot.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: But um they find They find the Nordic guys at this point.
- 54:05SPEAKER_05: Aaron Powell Oh, yeah.
- 54:07SPEAKER_05: I thought they were German.
- 54:08SPEAKER_05: Are they Nordic?
- 54:08SPEAKER_01: I thought they were German, but they're Nordic.
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: They they they're fake Nordics that have German accents.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: They're like European that that European like um Eurotrash sort of uh guy.
- 54:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: Of the type of the time.
- 54:20SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell It's like it's it in nineties.
- 54:22SPEAKER_05: If you watch any nineties shows now, like I remember watching Alias recently for some reason.
- 54:27SPEAKER_05: Uh yes.
- 54:28SPEAKER_05: And there was a British actor and she comes in and it's like, oh, I am British! You know, like you could go away with a lot more at that time.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: Aaron Ross Powell But this was like a very this was a real stereotype of the time of like, oh, these European guys will always dress in this way with like leather, sleeveless leather, uh and hot pants.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: And they all dance to techno.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 54:50SPEAKER_05: To be fair though, because they are really aliens.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know, but they they're dressed, they're supposed to be dressed like these people.
- 54:58SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell No, but they might have just picked up like they're aliens, so they may have b picked up the right the wrong things to pick.
- 55:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah, of course.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: I mean there's there's other aliens in this that do the same.
- 55:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: So there's the hot girls or the hot chicks.
- 55:11SPEAKER_05: The hot chicks.
- 55:12SPEAKER_05: We are hot chicks.
- 55:15SPEAKER_01: And yeah, so like there's a hot there's a group of hot chicks uh that say you have to find the continual transfunctioner and we will give you oral pleasure.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: I think they say oral pleasure.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: They say something where it's like getting around like saying something explicit.
- 55:31SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell Oh, that just reminds me.
- 55:33SPEAKER_05: One of the main plot points is that uh the their girlfriends were supposed to give them a treat.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 55:40SPEAKER_05: If they if they were good and they're like, now we're not gonna give you a treat.
- 55:43SPEAKER_05: And then and then you find out that Sean William Scott and uh Ashley Kusher has been dating these girls for a year, but they haven't had sex?
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 55:51SPEAKER_05: How old are these people?
- 55:53SPEAKER_05: Like it's cra it's crazy.
- 55:54SPEAKER_01: It's because those two girls, they seem like I want to say like really Christian, in my mind.
- 56:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, no, a hundred percent.
- 56:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: And it seems like these two guys have not clued into that.
- 56:08SPEAKER_05: What?
- 56:09SPEAKER_05: Anyway.
- 56:10SPEAKER_01: That's that's in my mind, that's what they No, no, no.
- 56:12SPEAKER_01: I feel like the two the couples have not realized what the other people are like.
- 56:20SPEAKER_05: It's true, because they're incredibly like they're the nicest people on screen.
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: They're helping blind children learn sports.
- 56:28SPEAKER_05: So uh yeah.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: Um But yeah, they go so they go to the uh impound lot and they find out the car was actually sold.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 56:39SPEAKER_01: And so they have to go to they go to go try and find it and they get tased and end up at Zoltan.
- 56:46SPEAKER_05: Zoltan's Hold on, hold on, say it, say it again.
- 56:48SPEAKER_01: Zoltan.
- 56:50SPEAKER_01: They go to Zoltan they get sent to Zoltan's uh house.
- 56:57SPEAKER_01: Um and this is where you see the in the interstellar jumpsuits.
- 57:01SPEAKER_01: Bubble wrap.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: What?
- 57:03SPEAKER_01: The bubble wraps.
- 57:04SPEAKER_05: Oh yes, yes, yes.
- 57:05SPEAKER_01: Come on.
- 57:06SPEAKER_01: Are you not a are you not a Zoltan head?
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: For everyone listening, we keep doing the Zoltan move.
- 57:15SPEAKER_05: You can't just say it.
- 57:16SPEAKER_05: It's like saying he who should who should not be needed.
- 57:21SPEAKER_05: But like you have to do the What do you do for that?
- 57:28SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 57:28SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 57:29SPEAKER_05: There's nothing.
- 57:31SPEAKER_05: I was like, uh you conquer your fears.
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 57:37SPEAKER_01: Every time.
- 57:38SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna conquer my fears every time.
- 57:42SPEAKER_01: Just hold your scarf.
- 57:45SPEAKER_03: I will get past this.
- 57:48SPEAKER_03: I will get past this.
- 57:49SPEAKER_03: My parents dying means nothing.
- 57:53SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 57:55SPEAKER_00: Let's move quickly through this because we're already an hour in.
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I'm so sorry.
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: Uh they go to the Zolta meeting.
- 58:03SPEAKER_01: Uh see sensing something very Oh, I wrote this down uh I wrote this down because I thought you would appreciate this.
- 58:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:13SPEAKER_01: They say, oh, I'm sensing something very Canadian about this place.
- 58:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:18SPEAKER_03: That was a good line.
- 58:19SPEAKER_03: That was a very good line.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: And I was like, does that track?
- 58:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's uh it's just it's just a funny line because it's But is there something Canadian about the about the where they are, or is it just a funny line?
- 58:30SPEAKER_05: Uh uh It is a funny line because it's not very Canadian.
- 58:34SPEAKER_05: Basically they're in a in a stable.
- 58:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:36SPEAKER_05: So it it's like Canada is known for its outdoors, but I think it's just a s super silly thing to say.
- 58:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 58:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: Um But they uh Yeah, so they s they go there and they get put in this like room with ostriches.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:52SPEAKER_01: And um it's a punishment room, and then Andy Dick is in there.
- 58:56SPEAKER_05: Yes, of course.
- 58:56SPEAKER_05: Sorry, I'm looking at my notes again.
- 58:58SPEAKER_01: No, that's okay.
- 58:59SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, they go to the they go to the room, Andy Dick is in there, and they and he is a he's kidnapped, he's like a prisoner and he's been he's been there for so long.
- 59:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: Um called the Punishment Room, and there's Pierre, this French man, the st pure stereotype of a French man, yeah.
- 59:17SPEAKER_01: Speaks and he's got uh he's got a beret on, obviously.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course.
- 59:21SPEAKER_01: And he um he asks them a question and he says how fast they can also run.
- 59:28SPEAKER_01: And then Sean Williams Scott, because he watches Animal Planet, he knows exactly, and he they get freed.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: And then they go to find their car, and the car is gone.
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: And he gives them the key uh that he found in there, which is a key to an arcade locker.
- 59:42SPEAKER_01: Which is how they go to the arcades and they open it up and there's a suitcase of money in there.
- 59:46SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: And as the suitcase of money is in there, they also find like multiple other things like certific certifications saying they speak Japanese and they realize they speak Japanese.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: And they actually do.
- 59:59SPEAKER_01: They're actually speaking it.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: I I understood every word of that.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_05: You speak Japanese?
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_01: I I understand things.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_01: I so I can't speak it, but I can understand a little bit.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_05: Oh, and when did you learn Japanese?
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_01: When I was living there.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_05: Oh, I d I didn't know you were living there.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_01: I've told you this multiple times.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: Have you?
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_01: It's in my set that you've seen.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_05: I wasn't listening.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: It's in my set you've seen.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and recorded.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_03: Have we met?
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_03: Love you.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: So anyway.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so yeah, so I understood like what they were saying.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_01: They're saying very basic things, but like they're just saying greetings.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_01: Um But then then they're like, oh, we need to buy we need to like pretend that the continuum transfunction is here so we can give it to them.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: And then they realize they realize no one knows what it actually looks like.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_01: And so they buy these like fake gun toy gun things.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, because the stakes are higher now because I think they're holding somebody captive.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_05: Yes, they're holding the twins captive.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_05: Yes, yeah, there you go.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: Zoltan is holding the twins captive.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_01: Um so they but then at that so they buy all the fake tran they fire fake one, they hand it to the bullies, uh or they hand it to someone, I don't know.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_01: They hand it to one of the groups.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: And at that moment he sold the Robit's Cube, which happens to be the continuum transfunctioner.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: Who would have guessed that?
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_05: No one.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_05: Um Actually, when I was a kid and I watched it, I was like, oh my god, it was that kid.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: And kids and stoners probably didn't realize it.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_01: Um So they find it, they and they get they it gets deactivated by uh the they deactivate it, and they do that through No, sorry, the German the Nordic guys deactivate it, don't they?
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: But they have to choose whether it's to choose between them or the hot the all the the hot alien girls.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_05: Basically, they the thing was gonna go off.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_05: This is why I was late, because I was watching this fully.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, this is the most important situation.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_05: This is I was like, I'm so hooked.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_05: Um uh so the the continuum transfunctioner, he basically by solving the Rubik's Cube, he turned on this thing which would collapse the universe.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_05: And they had like five it's not seconds, but like it was like as as the red uh there was like five dots, and as one of them turned on, uh it that they were gonna die.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_05: And the the the hot girls were like, give it to me, and the Nordic girls were giving me.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_05: And he's like, Well, if you spend time with us yes uh yesterday, you will answer this question.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_05: And then Sean Williams Scott's like, Ashton, we don't remember anything from last week.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_05: Uh yesterday.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_05: What are you gonna ask?
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_05: And he's like, Shh.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_05: And then on the red last red dot, he asked a question.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_05: Are you gonna cover that?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_01: And the question is, um, what was uh what did we get on the 18th hole?
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_01: What was our score on the mini golf?
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_01: And they realized it was a hole in one.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_05: No, the Nordic says.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: The Nordic guy says it's a hole in one, and they know that he's telling they know that they're telling the truth because the prize for hole in one.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_05: Hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_05: So then Ashen Kutcher hands them the uh the the trans uh the the thing and they turn it off, the world doesn't end.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_05: And then Sean Williams Scott goes, How did you know that?
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: And he goes The price for a hole in one is a lifetime supply of pudding.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_05: And then it was like behind them all along, yeah.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: So they realize that.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_01: So and then um all the all the hot alien girls turn into they form into one giant alien, hot alien woman.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_05: With uh wearing less clothes, but a different outfit.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_05: But a different outfit.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and this is this is the with the really bad CGI.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_01: Um and they try they realize the only way to to stop her is to find uh is to fire this like laser from the alien from the continuum transfunctioner.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: And to do that, he uh they use their crazy straw to puncture to functor it.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_01: Um and then the the Nordic guys uh say thank you very much and they zap them to forget everything.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_01: Very men in black.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: And then they wake up and it's the repeat of the first day again.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: And this time, the car is there.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: Uh and then they get they go they go to the ha they go to the girlfriend's house and they give them the gifts, which are necklaces.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: And they go, here are your special treats, and it's it's terrible hats with embroidered names on them.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_01: It's like the worst gift in the world.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_01: Um and then they gave and then the Nordic guys have left them more gifts, which are necklaces they put on, and the girls get giant boobs.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_02: And the girls are like, ooh.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: Not like, what the fuck?
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_01: It's so weird.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_01: And then and then they get in the car and the boobs are back to normal.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_01: So it makes no sense.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_05: Wow, I didn't even see that.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they get in the car, and it's just their boobs are just normal again.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_05: I had to rush off at that point.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go and understand that.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: So they get into the car and they all decide they're gonna go for food and they go for Chinese food.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_01: And then it cuts to um uh the outtakes.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_01: Which is like such a trope of like 2000 comedies.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_01: You get the outtakes.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I haven't watched it, but I will.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: I mean the outtakes are just standard, where they flub a line, they laugh, or they dance.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna watch it.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna watch it after this.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_05: It's not worth it.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna watch it.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_01: And then I wrote down this, and then I looked at the time and it was seventy-two minutes at that point.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_01: It's been seventy-two minutes.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_05: It was it was just I I was engaged the whole time.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_01: I mean Yeah, because nothing's it's so short.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_01: If you lose your if you lose track of seventy-two minutes.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_05: Oh come on, I lose track of a Ril Riverdale episode.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_05: Like I I don't watch it, but I'm you've got ADHD.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_05: But that's not it.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_05: It's just like there's the rant it's so bad.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_05: The plot is so weird.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_05: No, like glee.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_05: Glee is like this, right?
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_05: Because they have weird pacing.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, glee does have weird pacing.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and they're just like sometimes there's nothing happens, and sometimes they'll reveal that they had sexual uh like assault and then they forget about it ten seconds later.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_05: So it's like there I I lose track of Glee.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_05: Whereas this one I actually watched.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_01: This had a plot, it kept moving, it was fast-paced, it was interesting.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_05: They didn't change the character halfway through.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_05: Like it was Yeah, that's true.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_05: It's we have such shit online now that's a good thing.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that is true.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_05: It was good.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_01: I do miss I I really do miss as much as this is problematic, this movie and whatever, in like so many different ways, I do miss like the old teen comedies of this time.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_05: I think I think we gotta just remember like we we're always learning.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_05: So maybe like some of the comedy today.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's stuff in it that doesn't hold up, but there's a lot of stuff in it where you where I would like them to take it to today.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_01: I would like to I would like to bring back comedies of that.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_03: Aaron Ross Powell I I think you can I think it's a good idea.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_01: I'd like to the mid-b the mid-budget comedy.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_01: I want I want to see that again.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_01: We don't have it anymore.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_05: But dumb comedy.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, d that's what I mean.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_01: The mid-budget dumb comedy.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: We don't have that now.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_05: And it's just it's it's a little bit sad.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_05: And what I really do enjoy about it, because I do remember a lot of the 90s films, they were the intention was good.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_05: For all the jokes.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_05: Um and uh there was so many that was not.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_05: There's so many that was not.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_01: So I think I s I said it doesn't hold up.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_01: Obviously, it doesn't hold up because of like all of the problematic things, but there's there's stuff in it that's very good.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_01: The story's still very the story's still funny.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: There's still very funny moments in it.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_01: I still the stuff I enjoyed in it.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_05: Also, one of the notes I wrote down is like I saw that and uh it just reminded me of like, can you imagine like a Fresh Prince of Bel Air remake of a being serious?
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_05: That exists.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_05: No, no, no.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_01: But like Yeah, serious, a drama version exists.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_05: Of Dude Where's My Car.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, not Dude Where's My Car.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the first one.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_01: So I thought you meant yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_03: No, no, that's what I mean.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_03: Like a that like what is the serious version of Dude Where's My Car?
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_01: They were supposed there was supposed to be a sequel to this called Series.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_01: I would have watched it.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_01: Called Seriously Dude Where's My Car.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_01: But it never happened.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_05: The other thing is um I think Ashton Kutcher got too famous because that's when he started dating or uh Demi Moore.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's true.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: Like a couple years later he started dating Demi Moore.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_01: Um it's also it says when Ashton Kutcher first read the script for this film, he almost turned down the role of Jesse because he found it to be very stupid.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_01: However, when he got to the tattoo scene, he couldn't stop laughing and agreed to take the fall.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_05: Because Ashton Kutcher is actually really smart in real life.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_01: He is, he's got like a he's like a biochemist or something.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_05: Aaron Ross Powell That's his brother, I think.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_05: But he's quite smart.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_05: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: I think he got a biochemistry degree.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_01: Trevor Burrus, Jr.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_05: Oh, that doesn't make him smart.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_05: I have a chemistry degree.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_05: It doesn't make it smart.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_05: He's not as dumb as he appears.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what else did I see about this?
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there used to be the there's a web uh there's the address, the email address that he says in the movie where it says uh find me at freakinacage.com.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_01: It led to a photo, it used to lead to a photo of Mark in his cage.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_01: But as of twenty eighteen, the link is dead.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_05: Oh no.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_01: Because obviously, why would it be someone like they're not gonna keep the the server?
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_01: I wanted their Even the Space Jam one's gone now, I think.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_05: Oh no.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_01: Which is sad.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_01: Um What else is there?
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_01: Seth Rogan auditioned for this movie for one of the starring roles, did not get it.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_01: Surprising.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_01: But then he wasn't known at this time.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_01: No, he wasn't known as the S.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_01: Well, he was in Freaks and Geeks at this time, but yeah.
- 1:09:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_05: I was gonna say, why was because Seth Rogan was barely he didn't come into the scene until a 40-year-old version.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it was Freaks and Geeks, he was in the TV show.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_01: He was in a couple of TV shows before that.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_01: Um Jason Reitman turned down two offers to direct this movie.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_01: Not surprising based on what he's gone to direct.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_01: Um Jake Gyllenhaal auditioned for the role of Jesse.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_01: No Which is Ashley Kutch's character.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_05: Uh to be fair, Jake Gillen Gyllenhaal, there's nothing he can't do.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_01: He would have been funny in this, I think.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_05: He would be funny.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_05: He's I've seen him on SNL where he does characters and he's commits so much.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_01: It's funny.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_01: Um and also uh he was in Bubble Boy at this time.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_01: And Donnie Darko.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_05: Oh, I can't I can't get over that the du juxtaposition of those two movies.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_05: Two movies.
- 1:10:33SPEAKER_01: Bubble Boy is insane.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_05: I haven't watched it.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_01: It's not good.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_05: I did watch Johnny Darko, and you know how you're a teenager and then everyone tells you that the movie is good.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_05: And so you watch it, you don't understand, but you you're like, what a what a brilliant film.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_01: I watched it at the time with before like it had the hype around it.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_01: So it was like it just come out and it didn't have the it didn't have that crazy hype around, oh you have to see it.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, oh yeah, I like it.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_01: It's very hipster.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_01: It's very hipster.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_05: God.
- 1:10:59SPEAKER_01: No, I was so hipster back then.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_05: Jesus.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_05: But I d I d actually don't know if it is that smart.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_01: That's what I really think.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_01: I don't think it holds up in that like I think it's not as smart as people think it is.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_05: Aaron Powell I don't think it's as smart as everyone thought it was.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_05: That's what I mean.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_05: It's not.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_05: It's just like one parallel universe thing.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_01: Um Yeah, it's not.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_01: But that kind of leads into uh Does it?
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_01: No, it leads into uh uh the final segment.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_01: Not the final segment, but the one of the final segments, which is do you have a movie that's critically acclaimed and well loved by people that you think is actually bad?
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_05: I think so.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_05: That makes sense because I at the time everyone said it was so intelligent, and I watched it and I didn't get it, but I wanted to feel cool.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_05: So I was like, yeah, yeah, 100% understand what this is happening.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_05: But then like I was just l thinking about it the other day, and I'm like, it's kind of basic.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_01: Um it's not I wouldn't say it's basic, but it's just like it's a basic it's a basic understanding of of it's a basic version of what time travel is.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, what we have what we see now.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_05: And that doesn't make it bad, because like obviously at the time we've we no one had heard about multiverses and stuff like that.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_05: So it is uh maybe it was good.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_05: But like I just I just remember specifically for that movie, I said it was good because other people thought it was good.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_05: So I don't know if it's uh if I actually have that feeling.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_05: I just want it to be liked.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_05: Whereas now I'm completely stable.
- 1:12:39SPEAKER_01: Aw.
- 1:12:41unknown: No, I'm not.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 1:12:43unknown: No.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_01: Maybe someday.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_05: One day.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_01: Um Okay.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_01: So that's that's Donnie Darker.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_01: That was that was just a brief segment that I that we do.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_01: Um now for the final game.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_01: The new game that we do.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_01: So this uh so for anyone watching, uh I will bring it up on the screen for you now so you can see everything.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_01: Uh Charlene, I'll show you on the laptop.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: Uh and then for anyone listening, you can see this on YouTube or you can just listen to us.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_01: It's a game called Higher or Lower.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_01: So can you see?
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_01: So we're starting with Dude Where's My Car, which is the base level, which is 17%.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_05: Ridiculous.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_01: So we're starting So the m first movie we're going to go with, Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_05: Ah, okay.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_05: So here we go.
- 1:13:27SPEAKER_01: This is why I couldn't tell you.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_05: Higher.
- 1:13:29SPEAKER_01: It's higher?
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_01: You think it's higher.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_01: So what do you think it's at?
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_05: Which one?
- 1:13:34SPEAKER_01: Which one do you think Harold and Kumar is.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_05: No, but there's two ratings.
- 1:13:37SPEAKER_01: No, no, uh the critics.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_01: Critics.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_05: Critics.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_01: This is always the critics' ratings.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_05: What uh what's the critics' ratings for the other one?
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_05: 17 percent.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_05: Uh critics' ratings for this.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, I don't think they'd like it.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_05: Uh I would say 30.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_01: 30?
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_01: So you think it's higher though?
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_01: It is higher.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_01: Seventy-four! 74 percent.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_04: It was so good.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_04: It's great.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_01: I love Harold and Kumar.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_04: It's so good.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_04: I mean, it was so ahead of its time.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_01: It was the first time I was like, wow, I see these kind of character I see these kind of characters as like Asian people.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, yes, I love this.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_05: I know, and but like for us when we were growing up, because we never saw it.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_05: I didn't see anything though.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_05: But but you don't realize something is not there until you see it, and you're like, oh my God, something feels right.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_05: It was so formative to me.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh wow, characters we can actually be like this, and like we can have we can also be like the object of affection.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_01: And like people but the love interest and everything, we can have that.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_01: Like you don't s you don't have we didn't have that.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_05: Do you like uh you know how there's like black films, so there's a black movie, uh so there's obviously there was theaters for that, and we have Bollywood.
- 1:14:43SPEAKER_05: But this is the first one for this movie specifically.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_05: It was the first one where I saw like people of color.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_05: This is in Canada, which there's not that many, but all of us f like filled to the brim, like of the entire theater.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, did you go see it?
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_01: So here's the thing it didn't come out here.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_01: I don't think it came out in theaters, or it came out really late.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: So I watched it at home and then I remember telling everyone to go see it and everything.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_01: And then it came out here, and it was called Harold and Kumar get the munchies.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_01: No Because we don't have White Castle.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_05: I don't have White Castle in Canada, but they don't care about that.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but people in Canada know what White Castle is.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_05: I didn't know.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_05: But I but like it was it but what I was gonna say is like I I was in a theater in Canada, and it was like the first time where I saw all these races that live in Canada.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and we are all laughing our asses off at this movie, and I was like, oh my god, why why now?
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_05: Like, why why haven't we seen this before?
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_01: And then the joke is the stupid white people.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_01: That's what it is.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_05: It's like Nothing's changed.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_01: Uh okay.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_01: So the next one.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_01: So higher or lower than Harold and Kumar is Cheech and Chong up in smoke.
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, I've never seen this.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_01: But do you know Cheech and Chong?
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_05: I've heard of it.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_01: Cheech and Chong are the original Stoner characters.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_01: So they this is like the first Stoner movie.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go with 30 again.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_01: So you think it's lower than uh Harold and Kumar?
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_01: And you think it's 30.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_01: 47.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_01: So you're still correct.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_01: By the way, you're trying to be uh so since you're the second person to play this game, you've c you need to beat Emily Wilson, and she was at four out of six.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_01: So you're currently at two.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_01: You're currently at two.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_01: If I don't beat out, but you're gonna be in the rankings.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_01: You're still gonna be you'll still be at least number two.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_05: If I don't beat her, I'm gonna beat her up personally.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_05: How about that?
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_01: I have to find her.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_01: That's how you said that.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_01: She's back uh next month, so yeah.
- 1:16:32SPEAKER_05: Well that's I'm gonna find her.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_01: Uh okay, so you got that right, so you're at two.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_05: No, I'm gonna believe in myself that I'm gonna beat her here.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_01: So higher than uh higher or lower than Up in Smoke, Pineapple Express.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_05: I think it's Pineapple Express.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_01: Is it higher or lower than 47?
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_05: I think it's lower than 47, but I also haven't seen it.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_01: You think it's lower than 47?
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_05: 68! Okay.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_01: So you're still at two.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fine.
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_01: But we keep going until the end of the game.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_05: Okay, fine.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_01: So Pineapple Express is 68.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_01: Pineapple Express is really good.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_01: I love I love it.
- 1:17:07SPEAKER_05: I need to watch it, but also I'm uh afraid of what I'm about to do to Emily Wilson now.
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_01: Well, you can still beat her.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_05: I mean, I hope so.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_01: You can still get five.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_05: I I hope so.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_01: Um Okay.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_01: Higher or lower, dazed and confused.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_01: Is it higher or lower than 68%?
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_05: This is with the Johnny Depp, right?
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_05: No, no.
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_05: No, what's the who what's this movie?
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_01: This is a Richard Linklater movie with it's um it's like a teen stoner movie of the last day of school.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_05: The last one was 68%.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_05: It has to be lower than 68%.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_01: You think it's lower than 68%?
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_01: 92.
- 1:17:41SPEAKER_01: No!
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_05: God damn.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_05: I'm so afraid.
- 1:17:45SPEAKER_01: Certified Fresh.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_01: This is an amazing movie.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_05: I need to watch more stoner movies, clearly.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_01: This is this is one of the ultimate like teen comedies, I would say.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_01: And it's like it's so it's so good.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_05: What what was the who's the main character?
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_01: It's uh a bunch of characters.
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_05: But who's the uh the the There's no like specifically.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_01: It's a movie about the last day of school.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_01: Maybe Ben Affleck?
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_05: Ben Affleck's in it?
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_01: He's in it, but he's like not in it much.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_01: He's like the bully in it.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_05: Fine.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_01: Um okay.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_01: So you're still at two.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_01: Super troopers.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_01: Is it higher or lower than 92?
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_05: My god, why do I not remember these movies?
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_01: You don't remember supertroopers?
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_05: Hold on, I'm gonna look it up.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_01: No, no, because you'll see the score.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_05: Oh, right.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_05: No, I'm oh shit.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_05: Super troopers.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_05: Well, it has to be lower than 92%.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_01: You're going lower?
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_01: 36.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:18:38SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 1:18:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, so you're on three.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_01: And I think there's one more in here.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Jane Silent Bob Strike Back.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_05: Oh, I I have I don't remember what no, I haven't watched it, but I think it would be higher than that.
- 1:18:51SPEAKER_05: You think it's higher than 36.
- 1:18:53unknown: Yeah.
- 1:18:54SPEAKER_01: 52.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_01: So you're on four.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_05: Whoa! I don't have to beat up! You're tied.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, thank God.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_05: Emily Wilson.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_00: So you're both on four out of six.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_05: Thank God.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_05: Otherwise, I don't know if I know how to beat somebody up.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_05: I'm also very tiny.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_01: But you've still got second place because she came first.
- 1:19:12SPEAKER_05: That doesn't make any sense.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_01: And also E and S.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_05: My name has ruined me and so many things.
- 1:19:22SPEAKER_01: No, you're both tied for first.
