- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to A Peak Inside Gator Football Alley. Peak here,
- 0:03Speaker 1: joined today by John Miller of Locked On Missouri. Really
- 0:07Speaker 1: excited to get into this Florida-Missouri matchup. This video is
- 0:11Speaker 1: brought to you by PrizePix. Don't forget, new users can
- 0:13Speaker 1: download the app, play a $ 5 lineup, and use our code.
- 0:17Speaker 2: It's HMA.
- 0:17Speaker 1: If you win, you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly. Okay,
- 0:21Speaker 1: so Florida had that big emotional win over Ole Miss,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and you guys had an I would say, an emotional.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Very close loss to Mississippi State.
- 0:33Speaker 1: After you watched that game, what do you think it
- 0:36Speaker 1: exposed about your team that Florida may try to attack
- 0:41Speaker 1: on Saturday?
- 0:43Speaker 3: That's a good question. I think Florida is going to
- 0:46Speaker 3: run the ball, obviously. I think that would have been
- 0:49Speaker 3: obvious with Jaden Ball in tow, regardless of what Missouri
- 0:53Speaker 3: is doing. But You know, Fluff Bothwell had a lot
- 0:56Speaker 3: of success running the ball for Mississippi State. Some of
- 0:59Speaker 3: that was by design. Missouri playing a lot of two
- 1:02Speaker 3: safeties in certain situations and kind of daring light boxes,
- 1:06Speaker 3: kind of daring Mississippi State to run the ball. And
- 1:10Speaker 3: especially in crucial situations, not only with the run game,
- 1:13Speaker 3: but dumping the ball off in the passing game to
- 1:16Speaker 3: Bothwell as well was really critical in getting him some
- 1:19Speaker 3: big third and fives. So if I'm the Gators, that's
- 1:23Speaker 3: actually something I'm looking at. Let's just throw the ball
- 1:25Speaker 3: to Baugh in certain situations as well. Let's see if
- 1:29Speaker 3: Missouri can cover that. Yeah.
- 1:31Speaker 1: How much concern is there right now in Columbia about
- 1:34Speaker 1: the secondary? And I think when you are already in
- 1:38Speaker 1: a scenario where you may want to commit extra bodies
- 1:41Speaker 1: to stopping the run because of Jaden Baugh, does that
- 1:45Speaker 1: bring even more concern for you guys?
- 1:48Speaker 3: For sure. I think so. I will say I haven't
- 1:51Speaker 3: done my full Florida deep dive yet, but I will
- 1:54Speaker 3: say Camario Taylor and Mississippi state, a lot of their offense.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah. They're really good. And specifically they're really good
- 2:01Speaker 3: at making at running the ball when the, when the,
- 2:05Speaker 3: when it's favorable to them, but when you then commit
- 2:07Speaker 3: to the run, they're not only going to pass it.
- 2:09Speaker 3: A lot of times they're going to pass it right
- 2:10Speaker 3: over the top of your head down the sidelines. So
- 2:13Speaker 3: you knew there were going to be some one-on-one shots and, and,
- 2:17Speaker 3: Give Taylor and Mississippi State credit for hitting them. I'm
- 2:20Speaker 3: curious to hear if you think Aaron Filo in the
- 2:23Speaker 3: Florida passing game is capable of doing that. But what's
- 2:26Speaker 3: really important to me is not only the secondary. Missouri's
- 2:29Speaker 3: got two of its three top edge rushers are questionable
- 2:33Speaker 3: for the game. They need to practice on Saturday, or
- 2:36Speaker 3: excuse me, on Thursday to play on Saturday. Those two
- 2:39Speaker 3: guys being Darius Smith and Langdon Kitchen. The good news
- 2:42Speaker 3: for Missouri, probably their biggest breakout player is another edge guy.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Dayton Hopkins, who's been absolutely tremendous, I would say an
- 2:49Speaker 3: all SEC type of player so far.
- 2:52Speaker 1: So is Hopkins a player, you know, Florida fans are
- 2:54Speaker 1: watching and there's going to be a name that jumps
- 2:56Speaker 1: out to them that isn't a household name already for them.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Is that who you think they should look for?
- 3:01Speaker 3: Absolutely. I think so. I really do. He's that good
- 3:04Speaker 3: of a pass rusher and a guy who didn't play,
- 3:08Speaker 3: played sparingly last year, I believe as a true freshman,
- 3:11Speaker 3: has really emerged this year. A guy who was We
- 3:14Speaker 3: heard a lot about his talent. He's turned it into
- 3:16Speaker 3: production this season.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Missouri went from down 14-0 to leading Mississippi State 24-17.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Then they were kind of shut out in that fourth quarter.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Do you think that was more about.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Play calling, getting conservative, or execution, or Mississippi State just
- 3:33Speaker 1: kind of figuring out what you guys were trying to do?
- 3:36Speaker 3: I think it was a little bit of all of that.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Mississippi State definitely out-executed Missouri, and I think at times...
- 3:44Speaker 3: Austin Simmons, as good as he's played for the most part,
- 3:47Speaker 3: I thought there were some times when he showed some inexperience.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And that's okay, really. That's understandable. There were some situations
- 3:54Speaker 3: he had never been in before. But also, there's no
- 3:58Speaker 3: doubt that, like I was saying, hey, Mississippi State, a
- 4:01Speaker 3: lot of runs, a lot of deep shots. Well, as
- 4:04Speaker 3: the game went along there, into those two safety looks
- 4:07Speaker 3: on first down, give Jeff Lebby credit. He figured out,
- 4:11Speaker 3: how about a little play action, suck those linebackers in.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And then let's throw it over the top of them
- 4:15Speaker 3: a little bit more intermediate stuff for Mississippi State, too.
- 4:19Speaker 3: So they adjusted to what Missouri was doing. But I
- 4:22Speaker 3: think the biggest factor was, you know, I mentioned those
- 4:24Speaker 3: two edge rushers. Well, Kitchen went out after the second series.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You're playing a lot of guys, a lot of new
- 4:31Speaker 3: guys to transfer guys who have not really played in
- 4:33Speaker 3: this program before in heavy situations. I just thought the
- 4:37Speaker 3: depth there kind of got to Missouri a little bit
- 4:39Speaker 3: up front toward toward the end of the game. And again,
- 4:43Speaker 3: I thought Fluff Bothwell was just out-physicaling us at the
- 4:47Speaker 3: sticks and getting the line of scrimmage when he needed to.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Possibly the best name in college football as well.
- 4:53Speaker 3: It's a good one.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Absolutely. It is pretty good.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I want to talk a little bit about Austin Simmons.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns last week.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Where do you think he's taken the biggest step forward
- 5:05Speaker 1: this season? And where do you think he's still vulnerable
- 5:08Speaker 1: against a defense like Florida's?
- 5:11Speaker 3: Well, just in general, I actually think we should put
- 5:15Speaker 3: more on Austin Simmons' plate and not less. That's my opinion.
- 5:20Speaker 3: And even though Simmons is a relatively inexperienced guy, and
- 5:25Speaker 3: that's why it's kind of hard for me to answer
- 5:27Speaker 3: that question, like, where has he grown? Well, he hasn't
- 5:29Speaker 3: played that much. He's going to grow kind of naturally.
- 5:34Speaker 3: He's a guy who is a smart guy. I think
- 5:37Speaker 3: he's a guy who's going to make mistakes, but he's
- 5:39Speaker 3: also unlikely to make the same mistake twice. I think
- 5:43Speaker 3: he's that type of player and as talented as he is.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And to me, Missouri has been at its best and
- 5:50Speaker 3: at its most explosive this season when the Tigers say, hey,
- 5:54Speaker 3: we're going to let Austin look at the entire field
- 5:57Speaker 3: and we're going to let him scan the field and
- 5:59Speaker 3: make the decision. I think at times when Missouri's gotten
- 6:02Speaker 3: in trouble is when The coaches have tried to win
- 6:05Speaker 3: and predetermine where the football is going to go.
- 6:07Speaker 1: We're going to take a quick break from this video
- 6:10Speaker 1: to give some love to PrizePix and to play a
- 6:12Speaker 1: little game. Guys, if you haven't downloaded the PrizePix app,
- 6:16Speaker 1: do it right now. Play a $ 5 lineup and use
- 6:19Speaker 1: our code.
- 6:19Speaker 2: It's HMA. It's right there on the screen. If you win,
- 6:21Speaker 2: you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I am going to take, ooh, this is a good one,
- 6:27Speaker 1: Jeremiah Smith, anytime touchdowns.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's over or under 0.5. I'm going the more for sure.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And then I'm going to go more Jaden Baugh anytime
- 6:37Speaker 1: touchdowns as well because he's also sitting there at 0.5.
- 6:41Speaker 1: So those seem like pretty easy moneymakers to me. We're
- 6:46Speaker 1: going to go with both of them. We appreciate prize
- 6:48Speaker 1: picks for all their support. You saw how easy it was.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I just picked two things, put it together. You've got
- 6:53Speaker 1: yourself a lineup. I'm going to submit it right now.
- 6:57Speaker 1: We appreciate prize picks for all their support.
- 6:59Speaker 2: That's interesting.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Florida's in a similar situation with Aaron Filo in that
- 7:03Speaker 1: he just isn't experienced at this point.
- 7:05Speaker 2: They really like what they've seen so far, but there
- 7:08Speaker 2: is a lot of unknown.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Nick Saban called Simmons a little inconsistent. I feel like
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's not really fair. at least based on what I
- 7:16Speaker 1: have seen. But he is growing and he is inexperienced.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Where do you think Florida can attack defensively to kind
- 7:25Speaker 1: of make that inexperience show up?
- 7:30Speaker 3: I would say number one, I mean, of course, pressure
- 7:33Speaker 3: any quarterback. I mean, that's the obvious answer. But I
- 7:37Speaker 3: think a more subtle answer, I think you want Simmons
- 7:40Speaker 3: to leave the pocket. You know, there are a lot
- 7:43Speaker 3: of players. Camario Taylor's very dangerous outside of the pocket.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I think Simmons is more dangerous in the pocket. Now,
- 7:49Speaker 3: when he runs straight ahead, like on a quarterback draw
- 7:52Speaker 3: or just, you know, a scramble where he climbs up
- 7:54Speaker 3: in the pocket. he runs fine. He's not Michael Vick
- 7:58Speaker 3: in his prime or anything, but he runs it just fine.
- 8:01Speaker 3: To me, when he's going outside of the pocket, he
- 8:05Speaker 3: actually does almost look a little bit slow to me.
- 8:08Speaker 3: So I just don't know that he's as comfortable on
- 8:11Speaker 3: the move, even if it's to his strong left-handed side,
- 8:14Speaker 3: by the way, his throwing side. That's something I'm looking at.
- 8:17Speaker 3: It's something I would look at if I were a
- 8:19Speaker 3: defensive coordinator is, can we get him to leave the pocket?
- 8:22Speaker 3: And also, A guy who has so much arm talent,
- 8:25Speaker 3: when he's in the pocket, he can throw it to
- 8:27Speaker 3: literally anywhere he wants on the field. Naturally, when you
- 8:31Speaker 3: roll out, you're kind of cutting half the field off
- 8:33Speaker 3: most of the time.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So we, you know, Austin Simmons is quickly becoming a
- 8:38Speaker 1: name that SEC fans know, but who is the offensive
- 8:42Speaker 1: player for Missouri that Florida fans aren't talking about enough,
- 8:46Speaker 1: but could really become a major problem for the Gators
- 8:49Speaker 1: on Saturday? Okay.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Well, really, Missouri's got a really strong duo receiver as well.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Caden Lee, who is also an Ole Miss transfer slot receiver,
- 8:58Speaker 3: one of Austin's best friends in football. So they have
- 9:01Speaker 3: great chemistry. And Lee's just a really good player as well.
- 9:04Speaker 3: But also Donovan Alubaday, another Florida area player, as Austin
- 9:09Speaker 3: is as well. He's a tremendous talent who seems to
- 9:13Speaker 3: just be on the cusp of really becoming a superstar,
- 9:17Speaker 3: in my opinion. I mean, he's just about there. He's
- 9:20Speaker 3: He's really close. He's a Lou Bidet.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You mentioned Caden Lee, and he had two touchdowns against
- 9:26Speaker 1: Mississippi State. What makes him so difficult to defend, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: how important is he to what Missouri wants to do offensively?
- 9:33Speaker 3: I think he's really important just because, especially against zone
- 9:38Speaker 3: type of coverage, really any coverage, but Lee just seems
- 9:41Speaker 3: like he knows where he needs to go, and also
- 9:44Speaker 3: Simmons knows where he's going to go, too. I mean,
- 9:47Speaker 3: there was one I remember one pass in particular in
- 9:50Speaker 3: the Kansas game where live you might have thought, oh,
- 9:53Speaker 3: that pass was behind Lee a little bit. I'm telling you,
- 9:57Speaker 3: I think that's where Simmons knew the ball needed to be.
- 10:00Speaker 3: to be based on where the defense was. And I
- 10:02Speaker 3: think Lee kind of anticipated, like, oh, I'm going to
- 10:04Speaker 3: have to slow down and get into this spot. So
- 10:07Speaker 3: it's those type of moments that really high-level stuff, and
- 10:11Speaker 3: you just see their chemistry. And you also see Simmons
- 10:15Speaker 3: really anticipating– before a leave and comes out of his break,
- 10:19Speaker 3: that type of deal, the ball's getting thrown with great anticipation.
- 10:22Speaker 3: And when you have his arm strength plus anticipation, that's
- 10:27Speaker 3: something really tough for defenses to contend with when it's
- 10:30Speaker 3: all clicking for the Tigers.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I want to talk a little bit about this Missouri defense. And,
- 10:35Speaker 1: you know, tackling issues have been something that have stood
- 10:39Speaker 1: out for the Tigers. Florida ran for 302 yards and
- 10:42Speaker 1: six rushing touchdowns against Ole Miss. How concerning is the
- 10:46Speaker 1: matchup with Jaden Baugh, but not just Jaden Baugh, with
- 10:49Speaker 1: the emergence of Duke Clark as well?
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it really, obviously tackling is a concern.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I gotta say, I don't know how many good tackling
- 10:58Speaker 3: teams there are in college football so far in September.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I was saying, hey, Oklahoma has got a great defense.
- 11:05Speaker 3: That's not the problem. I think statistically that's true, but
- 11:08Speaker 3: even the Sooners have missed a ton of tackles, for example,
- 11:11Speaker 3: but as far as the running game goes, you know,
- 11:14Speaker 3: Jaden ball is a problem. I think what you're going
- 11:16Speaker 3: to see is Missouri. Missouri defends the running game really
- 11:20Speaker 3: pretty fundamentally sound and well staying in its gaps and
- 11:23Speaker 3: its responsibilities and all that good stuff when it has
- 11:26Speaker 3: enough men in the box to defend the run. I
- 11:28Speaker 3: think there'll be fine for the most part, but like
- 11:31Speaker 3: you say, They're going to be there to make the play.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Will they make the play? That's the question. And that's
- 11:39Speaker 3: been the real problem, I think, with Missouri's rushing defense
- 11:42Speaker 3: so far this season. And as I kind of alluded
- 11:44Speaker 3: to before, there were moments where they had a chance
- 11:47Speaker 3: to get to get fluff to the ground. And well,
- 11:50Speaker 3: fluff is a lot stronger than that maybe name suggests.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You know, I have been really excited for this matchup
- 11:58Speaker 1: because I do think this is the biggest challenge Florida's
- 12:02Speaker 1: running game has faced so far this season and, and
- 12:05Speaker 1: probably one of the biggest challenges they face the, through
- 12:08Speaker 1: the entire season.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Do you think that they like the.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Idea of loading the box or do you think that
- 12:16Speaker 1: that creates a problem because Aaron Philo is going to
- 12:18Speaker 1: try to hit explosive plays or is that if Florida
- 12:21Speaker 1: is going to beat you, that's how you want them
- 12:23Speaker 1: to force you. You want to force Aaron Philo to
- 12:25Speaker 1: have to beat you as opposed to Jaden Baugh.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Well, throughout the course of 60 minutes, I'm not sure
- 12:31Speaker 3: how it's going to play out, but I think to
- 12:33Speaker 3: start the game, that's what we'll see. Not necessarily, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 3: eight men in the box, that type of thing, but
- 12:39Speaker 3: you're not going to see a lot of too high
- 12:41Speaker 3: safeties on first down would be my guess. I think
- 12:43Speaker 3: you'll see much more, you know, cover one, cover three
- 12:46Speaker 3: type looks for Missouri, where at least you'll have a
- 12:49Speaker 3: safety roaming 10 yards away from the line of scrimmage
- 12:53Speaker 3: who can help out in the running game a little more. Obviously,
- 12:56Speaker 3: that's going to be a trade-off, and if Philo and
- 12:58Speaker 3: the Gators and Buster Faulkner can make them pay, then
- 13:03Speaker 3: Missouri might have to adjust for sure. But I tend
- 13:06Speaker 3: to think that at the very least, they're going to
- 13:08Speaker 3: start the game at least being relatively aggressive against that
- 13:12Speaker 3: run of shing attack.
- 13:14Speaker 2: This summer.
- 13:15Speaker 1: anybody that covers Florida spent a long time talking about
- 13:18Speaker 1: their offensive line and.
- 13:20Speaker 2: What it would look like. And it was one of
- 13:22Speaker 2: the biggest concerns.
- 13:23Speaker 1: And it's really kind of become a strength of this team,
- 13:26Speaker 1: which has caught a lot of us by surprise, honestly.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And it's a big part of the identity of this
- 13:32Speaker 1: team right now, which is that they are just so physical.
- 13:35Speaker 1: When you look at Missouri's front seven versus Florida's offensive line,
- 13:40Speaker 1: is it Dayton Hopkins that you think that that battle
- 13:43Speaker 1: is going to be decided, or is it somebody else?
- 13:46Speaker 2: That is, to me, maybe the battle of the game.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Hopkins is such a good, I think he's good in
- 13:54Speaker 3: run support. He's such a good pass rusher, is really
- 13:57Speaker 3: where you're going to see him show up mostly. I
- 13:59Speaker 3: think Robert Woodyard Jr. is a guy that made It
- 14:03Speaker 3: was actually played at Auburn last season, made like 14 tackles,
- 14:07Speaker 3: 13 tackles or something like that, and a really good
- 14:10Speaker 3: game in rushing defense. Again, if Missouri's going to make
- 14:14Speaker 3: the tackles, it's going to be Woodyard a lot, and
- 14:16Speaker 3: it's going to be up to the inside guys as well,
- 14:18Speaker 3: like Marquise Graciel, Jason Dowell, Jalen Marshall, to sometimes take
- 14:25Speaker 3: on a couple of blockers and leave those guys free.
- 14:29Speaker 3: And if they can make tackles in crucial situations... And
- 14:33Speaker 3: not just tackles, but force them backwards, like meet them
- 14:36Speaker 3: and push them back. Not just, okay, I tackled the guy,
- 14:39Speaker 3: but oh, he knocked me backward and I'm giving up
- 14:42Speaker 3: the first down. That's what happened too much again against
- 14:45Speaker 3: Mississippi State last week. So to me, I think maybe
- 14:48Speaker 3: Robert Woodyard Jr. might be the key player here. And
- 14:50Speaker 3: maybe to a similar extent, Nick Rodriguez as well.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Florida's coming off this. enormous emotional win over Ole Miss.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I think that from the Florida perspective, the Auburn win
- 15:04Speaker 1: was like the litmus test for where we are against
- 15:08Speaker 1: other first-year programs. And the Ole Miss game was kind
- 15:11Speaker 1: of a litmus test for like, how close are we
- 15:14Speaker 1: to national relevance? And I think we kind of maybe
- 15:16Speaker 1: even surprised ourselves a little bit with the full outcome
- 15:20Speaker 1: of that from Missouri's perspective, though. Do you think that
- 15:23Speaker 1: there's a feeling that this is a good spot to
- 15:26Speaker 1: catch Florida coming back to earth, especially you guys, it's
- 15:29Speaker 1: your homecoming game. And I, you know, this says trap
- 15:33Speaker 1: game to me.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Really? See, I don't know if I agree with you.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I think I understand that perspective for sure. But to me,
- 15:40Speaker 3: This is kind of a similar spot for both teams,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I think, because you're kind of coming off an emotional
- 15:46Speaker 3: thing either way. It's a different emotional thing, of course.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Missouri coming off an emotional loss. Florida coming off a
- 15:54Speaker 3: huge victory. And yet, I don't know. I don't see
- 15:57Speaker 3: that being that big of a factor. I could totally
- 16:00Speaker 3: be wrong, of course. But that's just my feeling here.
- 16:02Speaker 3: I feel like we're almost too early into the season
- 16:06Speaker 3: to be saying, you know, I thought Troy before... between
- 16:10Speaker 3: the Kansas game, which is Missouri's arch rival, and then
- 16:13Speaker 3: between the road game at Mississippi State. Now, that was
- 16:16Speaker 3: an obvious trap game. To me, Florida, Missouri, they've had
- 16:21Speaker 3: enough history over the years, too, where Florida's hanging pictures
- 16:25Speaker 3: that they didn't like. Luther Burden standing over one of
- 16:29Speaker 3: their guys or something like that. Maybe Jamal Roberts may
- 16:32Speaker 3: have been in that picture doing a mocking thing as well.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Who knows? But the point is, I think there's enough
- 16:38Speaker 3: juice in this series over the years that even though, Hey,
- 16:42Speaker 3: you got a new coach, you got obviously a ton
- 16:44Speaker 3: of new players on both sides every year in this era.
- 16:48Speaker 3: I just don't really see either team sleepwalking through this game.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I just think that whoever, whoever's the better team, the
- 16:54Speaker 3: better side is gonna, is gonna deserve to win here. Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I do think from a fan perspective, we're like, oh,
- 17:01Speaker 1: we have a losing record on the road against Missouri.
- 17:04Speaker 1: We have a losing record since Missouri joined the conference overall.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And it is so meaningful for us to go there
- 17:11Speaker 1: and have a good showing. It does concern me because
- 17:14Speaker 1: most of these kids weren't on the roster the last
- 17:15Speaker 1: time Florida lost to Missouri, which is why I think
- 17:18Speaker 1: you see those pictures hung up because most of them
- 17:20Speaker 1: didn't live it.
- 17:21Speaker 2: So they have to figure out a.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Way But I do feel like in the SEC, you
- 17:25Speaker 1: better be able to get up each and every week.
- 17:27Speaker 2: This team is young.
- 17:29Speaker 1: The leaders on this Florida team, you will find, are
- 17:32Speaker 1: like second-year guys mostly. There's a guy or two that's
- 17:35Speaker 1: a third-year guy. And so I think this is almost
- 17:38Speaker 1: like a maturity test. Like if the have we arrived
- 17:41Speaker 1: test is Ole Miss, this is like are we mature?
- 17:43Speaker 1: Can we handle reading our own press clippings? I think
- 17:46Speaker 1: from a Florida perspective. But I do think that– home
- 17:51Speaker 1: field advantage is so huge now that there's more parody
- 17:55Speaker 1: in college football. I'm pretty sure all SEC home teams
- 17:57Speaker 1: were eight and one last week. Um, and I, so
- 18:00Speaker 1: I think it's mattering maybe more than it ever has.
- 18:04Speaker 1: What does Missouri need to do early to get the
- 18:06Speaker 1: crowd involved and make Florida uncomfortable on the road?
- 18:10Speaker 3: Well, yeah. I just simply put, just be in the game.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I think the longer it goes and it's a close game,
- 18:16Speaker 3: I do think that favors Missouri to some extent. At least, yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 3: like you say, the home field advantage. I mean, 2.30,
- 18:22Speaker 3: kind of a perfect kickoff time in my opinion. Just
- 18:26Speaker 3: for weather and everything else, I love seeing a little
- 18:29Speaker 3: sunshine for college football. I don't know about you. Night
- 18:32Speaker 3: games are fun and all, but give me the afternoon kickoff.
- 18:35Speaker 3: You kind of get the best of both worlds. But
- 18:38Speaker 3: to me, again, I think both teams really need this game.
- 18:42Speaker 3: That's the other thing of the sort of the spot
- 18:45Speaker 3: who's in the better spot. I don't know. Missouri definitely
- 18:48Speaker 3: does not want to start 0-2 in the SEC. I
- 18:51Speaker 3: can promise you that. And Florida now, I think you're
- 18:55Speaker 3: talking about the press clippings. I think they rightly should
- 18:58Speaker 3: be buying into the hype a little bit in terms of, hey,
- 19:01Speaker 3: we've got a real team here. It seems better than
- 19:04Speaker 3: I thought it was going to be in year one
- 19:05Speaker 3: under some role. So you know, if we're going to
- 19:08Speaker 3: get where we need to be, probably got to win
- 19:09Speaker 3: it for O'Field on Saturday. So I think this is
- 19:11Speaker 3: a huge team. This is a huge, a huge game,
- 19:14Speaker 3: excuse me, for both teams and their seasons.
- 19:17Speaker 1: What's the biggest misconception that Florida fans might have about
- 19:21Speaker 1: this Missouri team based solely on that Mississippi State loss?
- 19:27Speaker 3: Well, maybe just that maybe they don't realize how good
- 19:30Speaker 3: Mississippi State is, I think. I think that's at least
- 19:34Speaker 3: statistically so far, and they certainly passed, the eye test,
- 19:38Speaker 3: especially offensively last week, this is clearly a top 15,
- 19:42Speaker 3: top 20 type of team. And I think that's probably
- 19:46Speaker 3: the thing you, don't want to completely dismiss Missouri. And
- 19:50Speaker 3: it's been kind of an argument and a meme of
- 19:52Speaker 3: people saying, well, why is Missouri always 25th? And people
- 19:55Speaker 3: were mad that Missouri was still 25th in the country
- 19:58Speaker 3: after losing to Mississippi State. To be brutally honest, I
- 20:02Speaker 3: don't think I would have voted Missouri 25th. I would
- 20:05Speaker 3: have probably had them outside of the top 25. I
- 20:08Speaker 3: just don't know that I can give you a great
- 20:10Speaker 3: reason right now to say that they're for sure in
- 20:12Speaker 3: the top 25, but I could say that about, about
- 20:16Speaker 3: most teams from 15 to 25. So I'm just not
- 20:19Speaker 3: sure who, who really is good outside of say maybe
- 20:22Speaker 3: five or 10 teams somewhere in that range.
- 20:25Speaker 1: If Missouri beats Florida Saturday, what are we probably talking
- 20:29Speaker 1: about afterward as the reason that it happened?
- 20:32Speaker 2: And then give me the reverse on that too.
- 20:35Speaker 3: So if Mizzou wins, I think, yeah, I think the
- 20:39Speaker 3: Missouri defense and the run defense will have really shown up.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Because obviously if Jaden Ball runs wild, then you're committing
- 20:46Speaker 3: too many guys. You're probably then giving up explosive plays
- 20:49Speaker 3: in the play-action game and all that kind of stuff.
- 20:52Speaker 3: So I think the Missouri run defense really showed up.
- 20:55Speaker 3: And I think Austin Simmons, again, I think He's thrown for,
- 20:59Speaker 3: I think, 290-plus in the win against Kansas and the
- 21:04Speaker 3: win against Mississippi State, I do believe, or the loss
- 21:07Speaker 3: against Mississippi State, excuse me. So I think he gets
- 21:12Speaker 3: over 300 if Missouri wins, and I think people will
- 21:16Speaker 3: be talking about him in a different way if that happens.
- 21:19Speaker 2: All right, John. I appreciate it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Tell everybody where they can check out your work and
- 21:23Speaker 1: argue with you on social media.
- 21:25Speaker 2: All the things.

- 21:27Speaker 3: social media, definitely hit me up at LockedOnMizzou everywhere. And also, yeah,
