- 1:46the Crew Network and you're listening to Basic Black After Dark Podcasts, the show
- 1:51that meets you where you are and give you what you ask for. We're
- 1:53entering the holiday season and many of us are finding holiday deals. Many of
- 1:59those deals are found on Black Friday. Black Friday is a colloquial term for
- 2:04the Friday after Thanksgiving. It traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping season,
- 2:09where many stores are for highly promoted sales at discounting prices and often open
- 2:15early, sometimes as early as midnight or the Evil Thanksgiving. While many people
- 2:22believe the term black Friday finds its roots in the sense of black meaning showing
- 2:28a profit or not showing any losses. This isn't the case. Historically,
- 2:32Black has been associated with days of economic stress instead of booming commercial success.
- 2:39It was also said that Black Friday stemmed from slavery. It was the day
- 2:45after Thanksgiving when slave traders would sell slaves for a discount to assist plantation owners
- 2:51with more helpers for the upcoming winter. Go figure selling people to kick off
- 2:58the holiday season. Basic Black presents black business owners who are doing amazing things.

- 4:00new home. One of the hardest things for me was finding someone to do
- 4:03my nails. That young lady has been keeping my nails on point for almost
- 4:09ten years. She provides information and education on how to maintain my nails at
- 4:14home. She does nail art or design for my own personal expression or enhancement.
- 4:19We have Miss Erica who's with nail Clinics and she's a nail boss.
- 4:24I'm not sure if she made it in tonight, Miss Erica, are you

- 7:05is the farm working. Just tell us a lot, Tell a little bit
- 7:09about myself. Yeah, just tell yourself, tell about yourself, and to
- 7:12tell about Imperial Dazzle. Okay, So Imperial Dazzle. So first and foremost,
- 7:17my name is Shane, and again my business is Imperial Dazzle. And
- 7:21what that is is if you never heard of paparazzi. Paparazzi jewelry is nickel
- 7:29and lead free based jewelry, UH costume jewelry that where you where you buy
- 7:35all the different uh costume jewelry. We sell the same jewelry, we just
- 7:41sell it for five dollars and also we have an amazing twenty five dollar line.
- 7:47Also a little bit about myself. I'm rambling because I'm so nervous.
- 7:53This is first too. It is it is an honor for anyone to ask
- 7:58you to do anything. But I've never been able to be on a forum
- 8:03before, so this is I'm a little nervous, so I'm going all over
- 8:05the place again. But this is my thing. This is what I do
- 8:09again. If you are looking for costume jewelry, I am the costume jewelry
- 8:15girl. I My website is www dot Imperial Dazzle dot com. I don't
- 8:20know if you can see it on my banner and when you can shop to
- 8:24you drop twenty four hours, seven days a week. I go live on
- 8:28Facebook selling jewelry. Where I met black Donald out of the Blue. I
- 8:33met her and she shops with me and I go live on Tuesdays, Thursdays
- 8:39and Sunday. Tuesdays and Thursdays between eight pm seven thirty at eight pm and
- 8:45Sunday at five pm. Again Paparazzi Jewelry is a Christian based organization and it
- 8:52is one hundred Nickel and Leffrey compliant. I started Paparachi Jewelry four years ago.
- 8:58I am an executive directed in this business. I have thirty two now
- 9:01thirty two consultants that are underneath me that sell jewelry with me. To make
- 9:09our financial lives different. We're doing things that we love to do with jewelry.
- 9:15Playing with jewelry is every woman's dream and why not make money from it.
- 9:18So this month for Paparazzi, they are having a promotion. Normally it's
- 9:26a ninety nine dollars you can get a ninety nine dollars kid, a two
- 9:31ninety nine kid, or a four ninety nine kit to join Paparazzi to get
- 9:37your own website and start selling the jewelry yourself. But this month you could
- 9:41actually join and become a consultant for just twenty dollars. So if anyone is
- 9:46interested in selling Paparazzi, if you heard about it, you can hit me
- 9:52up and message me or message me in Facebook, or my telephone number is
- 9:56on my business card. If anybody, you could hit me up and I
- 10:01can tell you more about this business. This business has changed my life,
- 10:05totally changed my life. My life with just selling five dollar jewelry two years
- 10:11ago, quick fast, I became homeless. Nothing that I did. I
- 10:16went and rented a four bedroom house, and the landlord, four months after
- 10:20me fixing it up and doing everything, said, oh, I'm selling it.
- 10:22So I had to leave and become homeless. With Paparazzi being able to
- 10:28sell my jewelry going live every day, I was able to get up the
- 10:33money to get my own get another place, and just start all over.
- 10:37In the midst of that, I lost my Facebook page, so I lost
- 10:41all of my customer base. So everything seemed like it was happening at one
- 10:46time. But I serve an awesome God who said sit still, I got
- 10:52other plans for you to put you in different directions. And these are the
- 10:56directions that he's showing me today. Where if somebody came and asked me to
- 11:00come on a forum to discuss paparazzi. So I'm excited about the opportunity and
- 11:05I truly truly thank you Black Di'm in for this opportunity. And again,
- 11:09if anybody is looking to I'm never this nervous, I promise you. So
- 11:15if anybody's looking to talk to me or or I want to talk about joining
- 11:20paparazzi or selling paparazzi jewelry or buying paparazzi jewelry, because I am live Tuesdays,
- 11:26Thursdays and Sundays on Facebook, or you could be living Queens, I
- 11:31can do a messenger, a whole messenger live with you with my jewelry.
- 11:35I am truly right now, I am packing at this moment. I have
- 11:41two of my friends here and we're packing because we're going to a vending event
- 11:43tomorrow with the Delta's, the Amazing Deltas. I having the big event tomorrow
- 11:50in Queens and I'm packing for it right now. So I'm gonna excuse myself.
- 11:54But if anybody has any questions or want to ask me anything right now,
- 12:00I am free. And again, I am honored Diamond four for you
- 12:05asking me to come on tonight. You're so welcome. I'm so happy and
- 12:07grateful to have you on. Now. What time are you usually on?
- 12:11I'm usually on again Tuesdays and Thursdays at eight pm live on Facebook. And
- 12:18again, my name is Shane Roberts on Facebook. I didn't change up.
- 12:20My business name is in Perial Dazl Sunday at five pm on Facebook. Okay,
- 12:26So they could be anywhere, living anywhere and you they can still be
- 12:30a consultant underneath you. Absolutely, I have no. I have one consultant
- 12:35under me in New York. I have all around everywhere, North Carolina,
- 12:41Alana, Maryland, Pennsylvania. I have them all over all over at the
- 12:48end, not I know only personally, No, only four of the consultants.
- 12:56Everyone has met me on Facebook and joined under me on face and it's
- 13:01very simple to set up. It's very simple for me to teach you everything
- 13:05you need to know and get you started with being a consultant. Okay,
- 13:11Well, we I have something that I'm gonna be working on and I mentioned
- 13:13it to you before. So I'm gonna be coming back to New York,
- 13:16which is my home as well. I don't We're gonna be working on something.
- 13:20So I'm definitely gonna get with you on that. If anybody wants to
- 13:24order anything, Shane Roberts is here. Imperial Dazzle is what she has going
- 13:30on, and just check her out. Okay, we have a phone number
- 13:33you want to give to them. Yes, again, my number is on
- 13:37my business card. I don't know if that's oh, that's just the picture,
- 13:39okay, my business, my home. My cell number is six four
- 13:43six two four four four three one four and again s h A Y N
- 13:50E is my name and on Facebook Shane Roberts. Okay, and that is
- 13:56on Instagram, which I'm trying to get back again. When I lost my
- 14:01Facebook page, it swiped everything. It swiped my Instagram and everything. So
- 14:07I'm just getting my Instagram back up and that's coming soon too. Losing Facebook
- 14:13is really hard. Up. I was hacked. I'm gonna say that I
- 14:16was hacked. We can't say it on Facebook, but nevertheless, I was
- 14:22hacked and they took everything, changed my password, my date of birth,
- 14:26everything, took everything. I lost four thousand followers. Well follow her.
- 14:30She's gonna be coming up with TikTok. So just keep looking out for Imperial
- 14:33Dazzle. Thank you so much, shame for being here. And if you
- 14:37want to stick around or just leave yourself on somebody, they just pop in
- 14:39and have a question or two for you. No problem, no problem.
- 14:43Okay. Some of you may not know that I'm not only a podcaster.
- 14:46I am also an author and I don't know how many times I've been asked,
- 14:50how do I get my book published? Well, I have something for
- 14:54you. Not only is she a published author, but she's a little dynamite
- 14:58in the publishing world. I am talking about none other than Trevida Harris with
- 15:03Wings of Transformation Publishing. Hey, Hey, how are you. How's it
- 15:11going? It's going, It's gone, y'all. Please excuse the little grand
- 15:16baby in the background crying right now. So I'm trying to multi task here,
- 15:22so that's why I was late. But I am Trevina Harris. Huh,
- 15:28I said, You're fine, You're fine, Okay. I'm Trevina Harris
- 15:33and I am an author and owner of Wings of Transformation Publishing. I started
- 15:39this company almost two years ago. I have a couple of clients that I
- 15:45have published for and we're currently working on a new book entitled From Their Eyes
- 15:52is from the perspective of people who have been raised by foster parents, are
- 15:58adopted, are family members, of things of that nature. So be on
- 16:03the lookout for that book coming May twenty four. Things that I do with
- 16:11the company, I offer consultations, editing, as far as the developmental editing,
- 16:19proofreading, structure, development for books, anything that you're basically looking forward
- 16:26to get started. I know how to help you get started, because that's
- 16:30most of the questions that people ask, How do I get started? Well,
- 16:33really, how do you get started? Do you simply start writing?
- 16:37After you start writing, we can talk about how to set it up structurally
- 16:41so that it reads good, not to change anybody's story or anything like that,
- 16:45just so that the words flow together in proper contexts. Other than that,
- 16:51that's about all I have to say about Wings of Transformation publishing. If
- 16:55you look in the right contact me, I got you. I see that
- 17:00some people they all already writers, and they get stuck where they say,
- 17:03I have writers. How do you help them with that? How do the
- 17:08way that I do that? Because I get stuck myself. Sometimes when I'm
- 17:12writing, I go to my favorite place, and that's usually somewhere where water
- 17:18is, where a lake is, a fountain, waterfall, something like that.
- 17:23Go to your favorite place that relaxes you and be free of any distractions.
- 17:30Don't let your mind and wonder to what has you blocked with writing?
- 17:36Because if you consistently think about what has you blocked. You're not going to
- 17:41get past that. So go to a comfortable space. Make sure that your
- 17:47behind's not hurting or anything. Make sure that you're sitting comfortably and you don't
- 17:52have those other distractions, and just let your mind relax and flow into what
- 17:59it is that you want to write about. And when you move those district
- 18:06actions out of the way, your writer block tends to go away. Now,
- 18:11there are some writers that's considered indie writers. Can you tell us a
- 18:15little bit about that? I think you're mute. I didn't hear you say
- 18:25that one more time. There's some writers who are considered indie writers. Are
- 18:30those the self published? What's your question? There are some writers who are
- 18:34considered indie writers. Can tell us about that? Yes, most of those
- 18:41who are writers like that. They are pretty much self published writers. Independent
- 18:45are theres where they don't go within like a publishing company like what I have.
- 18:51They end up doing most of the things independently on their own. And
- 18:55that's how I started, is the self publishing. I've taught myself a lot
- 18:59of this stuff due to my brain disorder. I didn't want anybody coming in
- 19:04trying to tell me that what I was doing wasn't right when I was simply
- 19:11trying to learn the process. Nothing that I did when I started was perfect.
- 19:15But as I've gotten old, gotten through the process, I've learned how
- 19:21to format, how to do covers, how to do the chapter headlines,
- 19:27the table of contents. All of those things was a learning process. And
- 19:32you know, whenever you're starting, you're going to have people that are going
- 19:36to tell you that nothing's great, nothing's perfect. They didn't like how you
- 19:38did this and how you did that. But don't focus on that. Focus
- 19:44on the assignment that God gave you to write your story, write your book
- 19:48in the context and how He presented it to you. And you if I
- 19:52would have stuck with what people said about me in the beginning, I probably
- 19:56wouldn't be here. But I'm a little stubborn and I'm a little hard headed,
- 19:59so I listen to what God tells me to do. And anybody else
- 20:03that has anything to say outside of that, they got to take that up
- 20:06with him, not me. Okay, she said it, She said what
- 20:08she said. Now, there's some writing somebody who write children's books, but
- 20:17then there's also children who write books. You are you working with children who
- 20:22write books? As well. I have not yet, but I do have
- 20:27a young author that's trying to get started. But they are so hesitant because
- 20:33you know, when they're really young, they're like, I don't think they're
- 20:37gonna like me. I said, well, you know, whenever you're ready,
- 20:41we'll sit down together and we'll do it together. And I said,
- 20:45okay, ms Veto, we'll do it when when I'm ready. So can
- 20:48I call you? Yes, you can call me whenever you're ready and we'll
- 20:52sit down and we'll go through it together, step by step. So she's
- 20:57eight years old, so I said, our wait till you're ready. Well,
- 21:03there you go. She's taking on the young writers as well. Now
- 21:04we have it here That indie book is either self published or published by independent
- 21:10Press. Yes, and I am impressed with miss Travida and her Wings of
- 21:15Transformation. So if you're out there and you're interested in writing a book,
- 21:19even poetry, you taking on poetry as well. Yes, that was my
- 21:25very first book. Yes, here's her information. Wings of Transformation with Trevida
- 21:32Harris. You can contact us. She's gonna take you right through that journey
- 21:37and I think you're gonna have something good coming out. Thank you. So
- 21:40much beautiful being. If you want to stick around just in case somebody want
- 21:44to contact you or to speak to you, her information is here. She's
- 21:47gonna still be here. You can come in and talk. We're gonna take
- 21:51a small commercial break and we'll be right back. That's my halfpint. She
- 21:56rocks. Turn off the legs, lead a candle, tonight, Amen to
- 22:26the margin. Let's take a shower shower together. I was abundeed you was
- 22:44my dadda somewhat wealthy and say just turn off the girl. I want to
- 23:12care of you. What's special? Tweet You're so sweet? Turn Yeah,
- 23:23that's me. That's my commercial here. I am for Black Friday as well.
- 23:27We also did a soft release of a new candle, and that one
- 23:33is called the Forever Candle, and believe it or not, we are sold
- 23:37out. We just let it go a couple of days ago, and it
- 23:40really didn't even go out to the public because somebody knew that I had it
- 23:42in the Forever Candle. Those Forever candles are I had in mind for children
- 23:48who were being adopted because they're going to be going to forever families. So
- 23:52I came up with the Forever Candle. And we have we I know of
- 23:56twenty three families that are adopting children tomorrow morning at the courthouse, and each
- 24:02one of those families are getting a Forever candle. And I am so so
- 24:07happy. I almost wanted to cry when I found out they wanted the candles
- 24:11for that. And as a matter of fact, I put some samples out
- 24:12last year and they took the candles last year, but this year they took
- 24:15everything that I had, and I had some from other people who wanted those
- 24:21candles. So we're gonna be coming out with that candle line again. And
- 24:25we're also coming out with candles for men. That's gonna be twenty twenty four,
- 24:29So my candles for men are coming out, and this special. Those
- 24:33candles are special, I can tell you, and I can get I can
- 24:36just about guarantee that you're gonna love them. Now, I'm not gonna tell
- 24:41you about how old I am, but how many of you can go back
- 24:44at least ten years or maybe I can go back a little further than that,
- 24:48maybe maybe eleven years and still say that was in high school. And
- 24:52that's as far as I'm gonna go, and that's as far as I'm gonna
- 24:53say too. Do you remember the fashion, the plaids, the straight leg
- 24:59pants. What about the book bags with the lone Ranger on it or strawberry
- 25:03shortcake? No, not with cream on time. Well, today book bags
- 25:07mean a lot when you go to school shopping for your kids. I know
- 25:11when I'm in there, they want jan Sport, they want this character on
- 25:15it, they want that character, characters I have never even seen before.
- 25:18They often want those name brand ones. But those book bags don't tell a
- 25:23story, cool stories about historical superheroes. S K. Wilber is here tonight
- 25:30to tell you that b Brave bags are all about it. It's the social
- 25:34justice for me. Welcome s K. Wilbert. Hey, Black's long girl.
- 25:41You know what's going on. I'm gonna tell you right now, this
- 25:44is what's going on. I got mine, yess I do. I got
- 25:48more than when I got two these book bags. Now I'm supposed to buy
- 25:51him for the kids for school. I got them. Tell me about your
- 25:56book bags. So be Brave by s. K. Wilber is a line
- 26:03of backpacks that use comic book style art to tell stories that help improve kids
- 26:15self esteem, sense of belonging, and hope for their future by connecting them
- 26:21to black historical superheroes who are often missing from classrooms and school curriculums. I
- 26:30was inspired to do this because when I was a college freshman, I took
- 26:37my first Black Studies course, and I started learning about all of these wonderful
- 26:41activists and writers and change makers. And then I started thinking, how come
- 26:48I'm just learning about these people. How come they weren't included in my education
- 26:53prior to college. And that was so many years ago. And I'm using
- 27:00my skills as a bag designer now to help tell these stories and to connect
- 27:07kids to our past, our very rich past as Americans and as black people.
- 27:15Wow. I was impressed. A friend of a mutual friend was doing
- 27:21a charity thing with the bags, and they asked me, did I want
- 27:26to purchase them? And I looked at the bag and I said, oh,
- 27:26yeah, I do want to purchase those. As a matter of fact,
- 27:29I'll take two of them because I have two little boys who see the
- 27:32bags, but they're not carrying the bags yet. They realize that I still
- 27:37have the bags, but I haven't. I just opened it up just before
- 27:40the show here tonight. But I'm going to show the bags again you can
- 27:44see it on the screen. But I have my bag here and I'm going
- 27:47to read some of the stuff that my bag has. One here. You
- 27:49see some of these heroes on there, and it says we have a bright
- 27:52future ahead of us. Social justice is for everyone. Together, we will
- 27:56change the world. It says justice. And you see the hero sign on
- 28:03the back. It got the pal sign all over the thick straps. Here.
- 28:07Tell me about this key chain here, this chain that we have.
- 28:12So yes, each backpack comes with the collectible QR code that you can scan
- 28:21and it takes the young person or the user to the website where they can
- 28:26learn about black historical superheroes. Right now, our first drop is social justice.
- 28:33So we have people like sojourn a Truth and Medga Evers and Ruby Bridges.
- 28:40But we also have people like to meek A Mallory and Brian Stevenson who
- 28:45are modern day social justice leaders. And not only that, but we have
- 28:52young people who create their own content videos using rap, spoken word, dance
- 29:00and step that speak the same language as their peers, and they educate their
- 29:07peers and inspire them hopefully to create their own wraps and their own pieces about
- 29:15these historical superheroes. So you're educating them all the way around, you know,
- 29:19not just with carrying this bag on their back. I could imagine just
- 29:22putting this on my back or anybody's back and people just staring and looking and
- 29:27reading and wondering where to get the bag from. This is an awesome bag.
- 29:32I'm just loving it. And then you and they got some deep pockets
- 29:34on the side too. Oh my, whoa you hear me? Pull this
- 29:41apart. Look at this. These are some big pockets on the side.
- 29:45Yes, you can fetch your water bottles on the side of my sides.
- 29:48Yes, it is my hands want too. Oh my. Yeah, So
- 29:53you're teaching them, like I said, you're teaching on nothing. So I
- 29:56guess I ain't gonna have to let them know that I still have the bags
- 30:00down here. Thank you so much, mister Wilbur. Waitna, I'm gonna
- 30:04I'm gonna attach this here, this piece, and I'm gonna let them go
- 30:07and scan it. And I guess this is what we're gonna do over the
- 30:11Thanksgiving holiday, and we're gonna be looking at this and we're gonna be talking.
- 30:15See that, My kids don't like me when it comes to black history.
- 30:18Month because I give them lessons because the schools don't. Yeah exactly,
- 30:22they go, they don't give them a lesson. So my older kids is
- 30:25looking at them and lap and say, yup, it's about that time.
- 30:26Remember you made me do it, So now it's there turn us. I
- 30:30didn't forget. But see now I got something I'm gonna add to it.
- 30:33So this book bag is gonna be a part of the lesson and everything else.
- 30:37Like you was mentioning to journ the Douglas, to journ the truth and
- 30:40everybody else that's involved with it, we're gonna be doing this as well.
- 30:44So we're gonna be doing this, and I thank you so much. How
- 30:47could they get in contact with you to get one of these fabulous bags?
- 30:51And the bag is the only thing that we can get from you. So
- 30:55actually you have the wrong website on this. The website is www dot b
- 31:06not b E, just the letter B Brave Backpacks dot com. That's B
- 31:11Brave back Backpacks dot com. See I'm not ashamed to sit here and say
- 31:17I made a mistake and write it out again. Here give me that again
- 31:19www dot B Brave b b R a ve e Backpacks dot com. MM
- 31:33hmm. And there you can shop the backpacks, you can see different facts
- 31:41about our celebrated historical social justice leaders, and you can see videos of young
- 31:52people who have created their own rap spoken word dance that celebrates these black historical
- 32:01figures and educates their peers. Wow, speaking of celebration, there was something
- 32:08else that you were celebrating. I had at an award. You was up
- 32:12on an award? Oh I don't know. Yes, look no, I'm
- 32:17digging into everything everybody's business. So yeah, we're gonna talk about that because
- 32:22I know that I saw a little something something up in it. So yeah,
- 32:23we're gonna talk. Yes, definitely gonna talk. Yes we will.
- 32:28And so they are available on the website of course, be Brave Backpacks dot
- 32:32com, but they're also available on Walmart dot com if that makes it easier
- 32:38for people to shop. They are forty five dollars each. You can also
- 32:45on the website and on Walmart dot com order a T shirt. Right now,
- 32:52I am wearing a sweatshirt with with the artwork on it and on the
- 33:00back we have the scannable QR code as well. M Wally. We're on
- 33:06Wally. Were everybody they got them backpacks. So yeah, let's go to
- 33:09Walmart dot com put in be Brave backpacks and it'll come right up. Well,
- 33:15thank you think you think, you think, you think a million times?
- 33:19Thank you for these backpacks because I was tired of seeing nothing against jan
- 33:22sport. But come on, they wasn't as heavy because you think the kids
- 33:27carrying them for what about a month? And then I got to get another
- 33:30bag. They're not some of the bags and not gonna put them out the
- 33:32lay. But some bags that some people are selling they're not as sturdy.
- 33:36But this bag is. It's a heavy bag. And you know these kids
- 33:39be busting their backs with all those books. Yeah it's deep. See I
- 33:45can see there all night long and talk about how deep it is. Oh,
- 33:47look at pockets on the inside too, that's right, and all those
- 33:52pieces of crayons and pencils and stuff. A special compartment if your child carries
- 34:00a laptop, has a special compartment for the laptop. Oh they're still not
- 34:06getting that bag. I'm gonna still keep the bag getting that back. You
- 34:10know, you know, you know, you know how well some of my
- 34:15grandkids might be getting some extra Christmas gifts and that there you had to go
- 34:20there. You have somebody's worth it because they're beautiful bags. And I think
- 34:22I will, I think I will thank you so much you stick around.
- 34:25I'm hoping that people come and call in order some of this stuff that we
- 34:30have going on here by Black Friday. This is that pre by Black Friday.
- 34:35And speaking of black I want to know something else. Did you know
- 34:38the word uppity is racist? Yep, it's racist. A lot of people
- 34:44have no idea that that word uppity will applied to black people has racist connotations.
- 34:51Lyndon D. Johnson once said, these in words, they're getting pretty
- 34:57uppity these days, and that's a problem for us, since they've gotten something
- 35:00now they never had it before, the political poll to back up these uppiting
- 35:06nets. And you know what they meant by uppinging this. I ain't gonna
- 35:08say it on here. Now. We've got to do something about this.
- 35:12This is me quoting Lyndon B. Johnson. We've got to give them a
- 35:15little something, just enough to quiet them down and not enough to make a
- 35:20difference. Well, my next guest is making a difference with a clothing line
- 35:24upiting N word. Please welcome Barbara Malvin Hi. Everybody saying the N word
- 35:34I just had, you know, I mean, well, this, this,
- 35:37this one is safer than what I was called when I was driving trucks.
- 35:39So and that's where the name came from. So I knew the history
- 35:45of the word. And I became a truck driver, and I had been
- 35:50called the other with the hard R so many times by envelopean drivers that I
- 36:00decided that I would get paid to be called such and so if they were
- 36:07going to call me that, they would have to put up in the at
- 36:08the very beginning. Because one of the things that I don't have is that
- 36:13thing that says, when somebody stepped towards you and they're bigger than you,
- 36:15to run. I don't. I don't particularly have that. I have that
- 36:20cool to Kent Jean where I stayd flat footed and I'm gonna argue and I'm
- 36:24going in. So that's the other thing. Let me let me say this.
- 36:30I feel so bad about being on this panel because everybody got these inspiring
- 36:35stories. Everybody got these things, and the only reason I started selling these
- 36:38things with uppity negro on it is because I had an attitude and I wanted
- 36:43to be spiteful. And I feel like I'm not in the right company.
- 36:47Yes, everybody's because I just I did this out of spite. I did
- 36:53this to show people that story right there. I did this out of fight
- 37:00because I wanted people to understand that just be called you, but just because
- 37:05you called me something. And I answer to that, I'm gonna flip it
- 37:08around and make it mean what I wanted to mean. And and and I
- 37:14am upp aty, you're not gonna You're not going to tell tell me whatever
- 37:17you wanted. Doctor, You're not gonna tell me whatever you when they told
- 37:20me I had cancer, don't give me no. I told them, don't
- 37:22tell me. I don't want to know about a noma or car So I
- 37:27don't care about none of that. It's your job. Go get a book,
- 37:31go get another doctor. Now tell me how to get rid of it,
- 37:34and let me go about my business. And that was it. And
- 37:37so I got a lot of it. And I'm pretty sure that everybody got
- 37:39a little up at the miss things said that she miss sorry they took your
- 37:44name down. They she said that she's a little hard headed. Honey.
- 37:47That's uppity right there. We're gonna get you one in paint, you feel
- 37:50me? And so and that's where the name really came from. Being a
- 37:53truck driver and being called that because I had long dreadlocks and I drove a
- 38:01truck better than most men. I drive trucks better than most men do,
- 38:05and I learned how to drive trucks how to spite because they told me I
- 38:07couldn't do that either with nails lashes and different color contacts because you know,
- 38:12I got three more colors in the bathroom. But that's my business, it's
- 38:15not yours. So she hung about she and the wrong company. Well,
- 38:21she needs to add another business. So because I keep telling her and everybody
- 38:24else that she as funny as anything. So we're gonna be I'm gonna be
- 38:28going for a little while because we'll be taking her show on because that's where
- 38:31she needs to be, on the road driving truck. Now, I don't
- 38:35have a problem with being in the truck. Just make sure there's bed in
- 38:37the back. You got one that got a bet in the back. I'm
- 38:39with you always. So the website for Uppery Negro is it's just that it's
- 38:45Uppery Negro Apparel Dot Shop and you can go on there. I do not
- 38:52celebrate Christmas and all those other things. However, I went in on this
- 38:57week and I put everything except the shoes at twenty to thirty percent off,
- 39:02and that is a listen. I thought I knew what percents was because you
- 39:07know, Jesus take ten. But when you do thirty, it does something.
- 39:10Listen. I had a little mild heart attack, but I'm okay.
- 39:14I just put a beer aspirt under my tongue and we good. So I
- 39:17did bring a couple of things. I love the one that she got,
- 39:21but I have on one of my shirts now this is my favorite, which
- 39:24is why I cut this right here. But I don't know if you can
- 39:28see it. I got it and you can. And the Negro the negroes
- 39:31is right there. And then I usually when people order them, I know,
- 39:37I think my light is too bright, but that's it. Usually when
- 39:42when people order them from me, they'll send me the color of the tennis
- 39:45shoes that they want they're gonna wear with it, and then I match whatever
- 39:50is in the uppity. This is pink. I match whatever the uppity's gonna
- 39:53be. So it's not one, you know, one little thing is whatever
- 40:00color that you want, and I'll show you a pair of shoes and then
- 40:04I'm gonna move out of the way. I see the arrow was part of
- 40:08that. I didn't look at it and notice that before, but I see
- 40:10that arrow, so now I'm getting it. Yeah the arrow was Yeah,
- 40:15but that arrow was pointing right up to you saying I get it all right.
- 40:19Yeah. So it's a it's a design that I came up with in
- 40:21the middle of the night. This is the shoe. Maybe I need to
- 40:23turn that light away. Oh wow? Oh and this is this is a
- 40:34denim shoe, which means it's a really it's a good material. And these
- 40:38are my personal pair. Oh so this what is that on the front?
- 40:47I will if you order them and have them sit to me, I will
- 40:51bling them out and then send them to you. Wow. Wow, Okay,
- 40:57and that's yourself. I know that the preacher is here and I and
- 41:02Pastor. Please don't come for me, ma'am. But I also don't come
- 41:07for me, please, ma'am. Everybody, everybody has done this, and
- 41:12that's how we got here. I also sell Bedroom Candy, which is an
- 41:15adult toy company, and that's all I'm going to say about that. Because
- 41:21the Pastor smiling at me in a way that reminds me of Jesus, and
- 41:24I'm done. I can't. I can't do no more. I can't.
- 41:30All I'm musa say is I'm gonna move over? Yeah? You know who
- 41:34was talking when they said all of that nothink, bedroom candy and stuff.
- 41:37That was her. Yeah, I'm done. I'm done with that. That
- 41:40was her. All right, everybody, thank you so much and continue to
- 41:45support our black businesses. That was missed upity there with the N word right
- 41:51behind. I was going right up to us. Do you want to make

- 43:12but I hope she's watching, but she don't need to know that it is
- 43:14for her. She has a divine line and is destined for greatness. When
- 43:19I speak of divine destiny, I mean something different, someone different. I
- 43:24mean two aspects between divine and destiny. She's absolutely dominant no matter where she
- 43:30goes or what she does. She's absolutely just and wise. And I'm absolutely
- 43:37talking about doctor Apostle Kimberly Thomas with Destiny Bling Boutique, Divine Connections Financial Literacy
- 43:45Group and Daughter of Destiny Enterprise. Welcome doctor Apostle Kimberly Thomas. Good evening,
- 43:53everyone, Good evening, and thank you for the opportunity. I am
- 44:00going to just talk a little bit tonight about Divine Connections Financial Literacy Group.
- 44:07Divine Connections Financial Literacy Group is one of the entities that we have where we
- 44:15offer financial literacy to our community. Our community is missing so much when it
- 44:23comes to financial literacy, when it comes to building generational wealth, and when
- 44:29it comes to making sure that we have a solid financial foundation. So one
- 44:36of the things that we offer with Divine Connections Financial Literacy Group is we offer
- 44:42free financial need analysis. If you don't know what your financial needs are,
- 44:49you will never know how to become wealthy. So we offer these services.
- 44:54These services could cost you anywhere from twenty five hundred dollars and we offer this
- 45:01as a free service to bring our community in and allow our community to be
- 45:07able to gain the information that they need. We know that we often say
- 45:14knowledge is powerful, but applied knowledge is powerful. And so when we offer
- 45:21these services, we want them to give you an idea of where you are
- 45:27financially, what you need, whether or not you need protection for your family,
- 45:31whether you need to budget, whether you need to manage your debt get
- 45:37out of debt. It's so important for us to take the opportunity to build
- 45:43that generational wealth, to assist our families, making sure that when we leave
- 45:47this world, our families are covered, our families are protected, they are
- 45:52able to live the same lifestyle that they led while the breadwinner was alive,
- 46:00and so that's very important. It's mostly important for our African American community because
- 46:06we see so many gofundmeans, so many containers at the corner store, fish
- 46:14fries, dinner sales, all of these things when our loved ones pass away.
- 46:17But it's our responsibility to take care of our loved ones, to take
- 46:22care of that final need. So Divine Connections Financial Literacy Group, that is
- 46:29what we're here for. That is one of the services that we provide and
- 46:35I really want to bring and shed light on that because it is very important.
- 46:42We were talking prior to the show about check writing and things of that
- 46:45nature. Many of our young people don't know how to write check. Some
- 46:49of our older people don't know how to write checks, don't know how to
- 46:52manage money, don't know how to manage a checkbook. A lot of them.
- 46:57All they know is when they're graduating from high school, they're being offered
- 47:01all of these credit cards and the only words that they know is swipe it
- 47:06up, swipe it up, and never keeping a track of anything that they
- 47:12are spending there, just swiping it up, and before you know it,
- 47:15they are overwhelmed with debt. So I want to offer our services to each
- 47:22and every one of you here with Divine Connections by the Literacy Group. You
- 47:27can reach out to us at eight five zero three two two three six seven
- 47:34five to schedule your free financial needs analysis. Get it on paper. When
- 47:39you see it on paper, it has a whole nother view. I asked
- 47:45the question a couple of nights ago. If someone came up to you and
- 47:47ask you how much would it take for you to become debt free? Do
- 47:52you really know the answer? Would you be able to just give them the
- 47:57answer right off the top of your head or would you be screaming around trying
- 48:00to figure out what it would take for you to be financially free. So
- 48:06it's very important for us to know those numbers. Know your numbers. Once
- 48:09again, connect with me with Divine Connections Financial Literacy Group. I would love
- 48:16to give you an opportunity to sit down and show you what is actually on
- 48:23paper for you your financial needs, helping you with your budget and any of
- 48:29your estate planning, anything that you need as far as your protection, I
- 48:35am here for you. Once again. I want to thank you Black Diamond
- 48:38for the opportunity tonight to share with your viewers our services. Thank you might
- 48:45have a question for you, when do you think we should start talking to
- 48:50our children about finances? Because I heard you mention these teenagers swiping it up,
- 48:54Yes they do. Who do you think we should start talking to them
- 48:59about our finances? I believe a child at as early as the age of
- 49:05ten can understand a concept of money if we bring them in and just teach
- 49:09them from saving in their piggy bank, starting them out with a small savings
- 49:16account. You know, that was one of the things that we did with
- 49:20our son as he was growing up. When he had received his allowances,
- 49:24he had to save part of that allowance. We taught him about tithe and
- 49:30we taught him about giving, and also we tried to keep him in a
- 49:35place of spending, his spending being limited. So I think a child as
- 49:42early as the age of ten that can understand the concept of money, I
- 49:46think it is very important to start them off. And if we start them
- 49:51off where they are in their understanding, as they grow older they will have
- 49:57that concept. We will have place the foundation for them to build upon.
- 50:02So I guess when they start getting those when they do their chores and they
- 50:07get allowance and everything. That would be the perfect time for them to start
- 50:10learning the value of money, the actual value of money. Think you think
- 50:15you? Thank you so much. I want to thank Erica from the Neil
- 50:20Clinic, Jane with Positive and Name Shame with Imperial Dazzle, Trevena with Wings
- 50:24of Transformation Publishing, s. K. Wilbur with b Bray, Barbara with
- 50:30Uppity the n Word, Eric with Imperial Design Apparel, and Doctor Apostle,
- 50:36Kimberly Thomas with Divine Connections Financial Literacy for bringing it all in, bringing it
- 50:42all in for everyone out there. We have so much to offer one another,
- 50:46and we can offer these services and everything we have to others as well.
- 50:51So we're not a closed in group as some may think that we are.
- 50:54We're not. We are the type that will share the By Black Movement
