- 0:00Speaker 1: Time out for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:01Speaker 1: Balance Life Chiropractic.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We have doctor Harley with us. Hey do doctor.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Harley, Hey John, I'm doing great, very good.
- 0:07Speaker 1: We often talk about like this time of year, We've
- 0:10Speaker 1: talked about men's health because last month was Men's Health Month.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We've talked about being out in the sun too much,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and the hydration issues. We've talked about, you know, overworking
- 0:20Speaker 1: in the garden and getting things. But sometimes we don't
- 0:23Speaker 1: even know why we hurt. We just hurt and we
- 0:25Speaker 1: want to know why don't we?
- 0:27Speaker 3: Right, I get that question a lot. You know, people
- 0:29Speaker 3: come in and it's like, oh, why is that hurt?
- 0:31Speaker 4: Or like I adjust something like oh I didn't know
- 0:33Speaker 4: that need to be adjusted, it didn't hurt. Or now
- 0:35Speaker 4: they're like, oh now they're poking on it.
- 0:36Speaker 3: That's tender. What's going on?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Where did that come from? I don't remember doing anything fun.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Right, Everyone they say it like, oh, I didn't do
- 0:42Speaker 4: anything different. You don't necessarily have to have done anything big.
- 0:45Speaker 4: You know, people always think, well, I didn't fall, I
- 0:47Speaker 4: didn't over exert myself. I didn't have a car accident.
- 0:50Speaker 4: You know, these kind of big stuff that we associate with.
- 0:54Speaker 3: An injury or feeling sore, stiff, or achy.
- 0:57Speaker 4: A lot of times it's just the everyday repetitive motions
- 1:00Speaker 4: that we aren't even thinking about. Posture is the biggest thing.
- 1:04Speaker 2: And when you get to my age, sometimes you just
- 1:06Speaker 2: sleep wrong.
- 1:07Speaker 3: I hear that one a lot too.
- 1:08Speaker 2: How did I do that? I was just sleeping? How
- 1:10Speaker 2: did I sleep wrong?
- 1:11Speaker 4: Well, you're in a very it's really static sitting, static, standing,
- 1:15Speaker 4: laying down for long periods of time. Movement is very
- 1:18Speaker 4: important to our body.
- 1:19Speaker 3: So we're not.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Moving those areas that usually are very mobile, they get
- 1:23Speaker 4: a little bit more stiff and achy because they're designed
- 1:26Speaker 4: to move.
- 1:27Speaker 3: And if we're not doing it in a very good posture.
- 1:29Speaker 3: We got a lot of forward head posture.
- 1:30Speaker 4: We're leaning to one direction more, or if you're sleeping,
- 1:33Speaker 4: you know in the fetal position, just all scrunched up
- 1:36Speaker 4: or head super turned. It's just like that prolonged staying
- 1:40Speaker 4: in that position.
- 1:41Speaker 3: The muscles are gonna cramp up.
- 1:43Speaker 4: You know, they're gonna pull on the bones a little bit,
- 1:45Speaker 4: get them out of alignment, and it's gonna hurt.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Right away, and then you know that ache pain feels worse.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But then maybe you get used to it, like, oh
- 1:52Speaker 3: I forgot I did.
- 1:53Speaker 4: That, Yeah, because the muscles relax and they get used
- 1:56Speaker 4: to that position.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Is there an ideal way for people to sleeper? Is
- 1:59Speaker 2: that different for everybody?
- 2:00Speaker 4: I mean trying to probably laying on your back, arms
- 2:03Speaker 4: at your side, just very flat straight. You know, probably
- 2:07Speaker 4: people are probably let me lame that. They're like, that
- 2:09Speaker 4: does not sound comfortable.
- 2:10Speaker 2: No not. You don't cross your arms in front of
- 2:12Speaker 2: your casket style? Just would that be a weird way
- 2:15Speaker 2: to sleep.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I tend to be more of a side sleeper. And
- 2:17Speaker 4: you know, even with that, it's it's okay as long
- 2:21Speaker 4: as everything's like stacked on top of each other hips
- 2:23Speaker 4: or you know, stacked shoulders or more stacked.
- 2:25Speaker 3: And that's not the most comfortable.
- 2:26Speaker 4: You think, oh, my hip's gonna hurt, my arm's gonna
- 2:28Speaker 4: fall asleep. So then we twist and then we got
- 2:31Speaker 4: one arm like laying out crazy another and that's gonna
- 2:34Speaker 4: you might cause a little more low back pains.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I toss intern a lot. But we got a new bed.
- 2:38Speaker 1: This is a while back.
- 2:40Speaker 2: We got this new bed.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I slept so sound that I had like my arm
- 2:43Speaker 1: pinned underneath me.
- 2:45Speaker 2: When I woke up, I didn't toss and turn at all.
- 2:48Speaker 2: But then the head blood cut.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Off the circulation of that I couldn't move my left
- 2:52Speaker 1: I thought I had a stroke. I was like, I
- 2:54Speaker 1: slept so good. I literally thought I had a stroke.
- 2:56Speaker 1: My left arm was just like hanging there. I'm like,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I don't know what to do.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Yeah, that is kind of feeling your arms in a
- 3:01Speaker 4: weird position and it falls asleep, Like where'd my arm go?
- 3:03Speaker 2: It was like twenty minutes later, I could move my fingers.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Everything was good. I'm like, Okay, that's just weird. I
- 3:08Speaker 2: just slept so good that I literally thought I had
- 3:10Speaker 2: a stroke.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So that's apparently a maybe a good thing for that
- 3:13Speaker 1: matterss covering it.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Sounds like a good problem. Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 1: So for people who maybe are struggling right now and
- 3:19Speaker 1: they're like, I don't even know what I did, but
- 3:20Speaker 1: this thing isn't quite feeling right, or that thing isn't
- 3:23Speaker 1: quite feeling right, they don't necessarily need to know why
- 3:26Speaker 1: they're hurting. But if they know they're hurting, they should
- 3:28Speaker 1: stop and see you shouldn't they exactly?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you regardless of while you have an acre pain,
- 3:32Speaker 4: if it was from twenty years ago or it's a
- 3:34Speaker 4: new thing.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Always good to start going to.
- 3:37Speaker 4: A chiropractor to help take care of that, because unfortunately
- 3:40Speaker 4: that little acre pain can start to get worse over
- 3:43Speaker 4: time and become a bigger achere pain, major.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Problem, could cause other issues, right, and we.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Don't wanted to get to that point. So nip it
- 3:50Speaker 4: in the butt in the beginning part. See a chiropractor
- 3:52Speaker 4: right away. It's gonna help that, you know, go away
- 3:54Speaker 4: faster and keep you moving and grooving a lot longer.
