- 0:11Welcome to the Treehouse Football Podcast Numero six. Numero six. We have made
- 0:19it into the sixth episode of the Treehouse Football Podcast. Along with the Cowboys.
- 0:27We have moved into the bye week on a high as opposed to a
- 0:33lowly, lowly low. The Cowboys actually took care of business on the road
- 0:38in Los Angeles on Monday Night. They managed to not embarrass themselves on national
- 0:45television and back to back weeks, So yay for this. It was uh
- 0:54when when the first score was was that that quick? I was like,
- 0:59we're were doomed. That was my first thought. I was like, you
- 1:03know what, let's just let's just grab a beer and some wings and let's
- 1:07not I'll just check my phone. I'll just check my Instagram. And then
- 1:10I was like, oh, this is this is actually an interesting game and
- 1:12it's uh, it was. It was fun to watch. I will say
- 1:15that it was. It was an entertaining game, mainly because, if we're
- 1:19being honest, the Cowboys won, But from just a general standpoint, it
- 1:25was an entertaining game if you had if you had no skin in the game,
- 1:29you're entertained by Monday Night football. This week Cowboys versus Chargers Yeah,
- 1:34it was really good. I mean that on top of that, that stadium
- 1:37is just incredible. Uh and it really, it really is, like that
- 1:42stadium is incredible, but uh, overall entertainment value, it was really good.
- 1:49Like again, like you said, I was at this this wing joint
- 1:52and there were a couple of people there that were you know, Broncos fans
- 1:56and Redskins for whatever. Uh, but everybody thoroughly entertained. So uh yeah
- 2:00it was I was, I was a fan. Uh. Uh. It
- 2:04was good to finally watch that going into the bye week with that little bit
- 2:07of momentum going in. Uh. And uh, it's nice that they are
- 2:13off on my birthday. So uh isn't that a lovely gift for you Raj
- 2:17from the Dallas Cowboys. Is there's absolutely zero chance of them disappointing you on
- 2:22your birthday? Well, yes, Uh, one of my buddies plays for
- 2:27the Cowboys and so he's coming to my birthday show. So if he doesn't
- 2:30show, then the Cowboys will have disappointed me. Again, well at least
- 2:32at least not on the field, That's true, is my main thing?
- 2:37Look like Cowboys players will disappoint you, you know, left and right.
- 2:40Yeah, all of them. Some some will be amazing. Yeah, he
- 2:45showed, he shows he's very very good about it. Uh and uh he's
- 2:50he's always uh. All we went to the same high school like many years
- 2:53apart, and we both played, well, he played and I was on
- 2:58I was on a team that was you wore the uniform and had some good
- 3:02seats to watch. Yeah, I mean I think my nickname, uh freshman
- 3:07year was Ajax and then Irish second year because my uniform never got dirty.
- 3:15Oh okay, all right, yeah it was always clean. So I was
- 3:19trying to figure out the Irish angle Irish spring. Yeah, gotcha. Yeah.
- 3:23So surprised they didn't just call you. What was it? Was it
- 3:27Snuggle the bear? Well, well that was I think that would have been
- 3:30racist back then. I'm like, what the brown kid is really the bear?
- 3:37Snuggle Snuggle was like a cream colored bear. Yeah, but yeah,
- 3:43so he will he will be. Uh if they called you Sharman, then
- 3:46I could see they did that too. Oh yeah, it was don't squeeze
- 3:50the Sharma and yeah, I know, I'm I'm I'm letting too much out,
- 3:54but this is that was there's almost okay, Sharman Strang I'm gonna have
- 4:00to handle everything that you release. Yeah, But going back to the Cowboys,
- 4:06very very excited for the potential that this momentum has going in after the
- 4:14bye week, I think they looked good. They looked like they were healthy
- 4:18and refreshed as opposed to what they look like against the forty nine Ers.
- 4:24They looked like they did respond very well after an embarrassing defeat on Sunday Night
- 4:30Football at the hands of the forty nine Ers, And it was amazing how
- 4:32the Cowboys and the forty nine Ers responded very differently after that game. Forty
- 4:40nine Ers blow out the Cowboys on Sunday Night and then firmly planting their forty
- 4:45nine er boots on our Cowboys necks, and then the forty nine Ers follow
- 4:49it up with losing the Cleveland and the Cowboys, on the other hand,
- 4:56they followed up an embarrassing loss on Sunday Night Football to the forty nine Ers
- 5:00by actually going staying on the road. Yeah, in Los Angeles, beating
- 5:06the Chargers at so Far at Sofi Stadium. Yes, And I thought the
- 5:12Browns victory was fantastic. I the one time you don't want to be the
- 5:19kicker. You know what funny story about the kicker? Yeah? Did you
- 5:25see the pregame photo of him? No, well it's funny to us.
- 5:30So the kicker for the forty nine ers had his entire family in the stands
- 5:34ready to watch him play in that game. Oh no, and then he
- 5:39proceeded to push what could have been the game winning field goal just right of
- 5:44the upright and managed to ruin his family's reunion. Wow, that would I
- 5:49don't Let's see. I always wondered this because and you tell me, because
- 5:55you probably have have had these moments. Unfortunately, is after a loss,
- 5:59after some thing like that, like a monumental like a moment where you have
- 6:04all your families there, all your friends, whatever it is, what do
- 6:08you guys talk about after the game. So it's like, well, how's
- 6:14the leg? Like, I don't know what you talk about. Luckily,
- 6:16Raj, I'm a clutch performer. So whenever I had family, whenever I
- 6:21had family in the stands, I won. All right, Okay, good
- 6:28because here's like I remember my buddy Joe, who was a offensive lignement and
- 6:36he was dating this cheerleader and he dedicated this game and we're I think we're
- 6:44playing Island Park, which we're just not gonna win. It's just and he's
- 6:51like, I'm dedicating this game to her. And I was like, what
- 6:55a what a terrible idea, a buddy, and yeah, and I'm I'm
- 6:59like, a okay, man, you play your heart out. And then
- 7:01we took the ass whooping of a lifetime and I'm like, what do you
- 7:05guys? You're I mean, what do you what do you talk about now?
- 7:10Look, I dedicated that came to you, the one we lost,
- 7:12Like what do you do? Like, that's a fight. That's why you
- 7:16don't do that. I'm a big believer in setting yourself up for success,
- 7:20so that means don't set yourself up for possible failure. Yeah, I mean
- 7:26we walked out on the field and these were grown men that we were playing
- 7:29against. I mean they hit full beards and mullets like the whole I mean,
- 7:31I was like, why are we It looked like we were finding a
- 7:33construction team like this all construction workers is what it looked like. And I'm
- 7:39like, why are we playing against these adults? I don't understand what's happening.
- 7:42And then we proceeded to get annihilated so same with the forty nine ers
- 7:46kicker all his families there. Now you go to dinner, right, or
- 7:51you go out to a bar or what like? What do you Honestly,
- 7:57I don't have an answer for that. That's rough because I've never, luckily,
- 8:00my family has been fragmented so much in my life that even when you
- 8:03know, you know, sports things were happening, I never really had more
- 8:07than two or three family members in the stands, So it really it really
- 8:11wasn't too bad. I only had. I remember there was one time my
- 8:18father and my grandfather drove to Arlington and watched me playing a baseball game at
- 8:22Lamar and I went one for four and had a diving catch at third base,
- 8:31so I had I had. I had a hit, and I had
- 8:33a a pretty good, you know, a Sports center esque worthy play for
- 8:39for a fourteen year old in high school. So I felt good about that.
- 8:45Yeah, at the time that my dad came for senior night when I
- 8:50was playing football at Arlington Lamar, we managed to go into triple was it
- 8:54was it the game against Martin if it was the final game against Martin,
- 8:58we won disc that night beat Martin in triple over time. Wow. I
- 9:03didn't have a whole lot to do with that win, but you know,
- 9:05I almost had a block punt and then I got to watch the game really
- 9:09close. But at least we won. Yeah, and you know there were
- 9:13other times, but yeah, I've never had more than two or three family
- 9:16members in the stands. Honestly, I wouldn't want my entire family to come,
- 9:20especially if I was the kicker, because that might happen. Yeah,
- 9:24I really And this is where I respected my parents' honesty. It's my freshman
- 9:30year, I played fifteen seconds. I think that was a tote maybe eight
- 9:33seconds. I could I could be exaggerating the amount of time. But then
- 9:37my my sophomore year, I actually played. I got to I got to
- 9:39like the cheerleaders were decorating the locker. But my freshman year, I asked
- 9:45my dad and it was the sweetest thing I've ever heard him say. I
- 9:50said, Dad, why don't you ever come to my my football games?
- 9:52It goes you don't play? You no good? And I was like,
- 9:56Okay, that's h and that is just a that is ah well, that
- 10:01is a like a like too much. Maybe no, No, I appreciate
- 10:07it because I was like, that's why you're not there? I suck.
- 10:09Okay, good. I thought I thought you might be busy with the new
- 10:13company that you guys have started, you know, you know, your new
- 10:16business, maybe stuff to do on a Thursday night. But no, it
- 10:20was because I was terrible, So it was good. I was like,
- 10:22all right, now I know why. And I never asked him again.
- 10:24I never asked them to come to a game again. And I don't blame
- 10:28you. I wouldn't either. My sophomore year when I actually played, He's
- 10:31like, when you do something good, let me know. I'm like,
- 10:33oh, well, we'll do so. Yeah, it was least, but
- 10:37it was beautifully honest, like I'm like, I'm not coming, Like that's
- 10:41what you could have just said that. But yeah, I always wanted to
- 10:46know, like what the conversation was with with people when you lose, Like
- 10:50I don't know how you so, how's so, how's your day been?
- 10:54Like I don't know how you start. It's a little different, I think
- 10:56depending on the position that you play, when you're the when you're the kicker,
- 11:00like in the case of the forty nine ers kicker and he misses the
- 11:01game winning field goal in front of his entire family and you know, a
- 11:05TV audience and everything else. Yeah, I mean that's maybe you have a
- 11:11different mentality as a kicker. But if you're you know, a position player,
- 11:15yeah, you know you can after the game you can be like,
- 11:16yeah, it's a tough loss, but you know, I I played pretty
- 11:20well. We didn't lose because of me. The kicker can't say that.
- 11:26I just hope nobody in the family was like like when they went out afterwards,
- 11:30just got drunk and like that kicker sucks my bad. Sorry, that's
- 11:33well it would have been. It would have been interesting had your dad,
- 11:37yes, then then the father also of this kicker, to which had dinner,
- 11:41he would have said something on the lines I'm never coming to see you
- 11:43play again. That would that would be interesting on so many different levels if
- 11:48my dad was the father of that kicker, like, where's the other family
- 11:52dead? Yeah, I would say a few hurdles would have to be would
- 11:56have to be jumped in order for your father, Yes, may he rest
- 12:00in peace. Yes, to be the father of the white kicker of the
- 12:05forty nine ers. Yeah, and to watch a five and twenty pounds man
- 12:09jump hurdles would be hilarious too. He's not going over. Maybe the Cowboys
- 12:16could use him and running. Yeah, I uh, well that but fortunately
- 12:22we did not have that luck, that misfortune. I'm sorry of being the
- 12:26kicker. We we we did it, and I Trey, who's not with
- 12:33us today. Yeah, we probably should have mentioned at the beginning of the
- 12:37show today. I didn't think anybody was gonna wonder well, I just I
- 12:43have a tendency to get kind of focused and yeah, binders on. So
- 12:48but thank you for reminding me that we should have mentioned the show. Great.
- 12:52We hope you feel better. Yeah, I know he's he's got really
- 12:54bad sinuses happening right now. But he did text and he said, you
- 12:58know, I don't trust the Cowboys. Uh in the fourth quarter, and
- 13:01I just said, I'm telling you, it's going to be a defensive play
- 13:05to stop the game. And uh, I think I missed it. I
- 13:09think I went to the bathroom at this wing place and I came back out
- 13:13I was like, oh, okay, well we won. Oh that's good.
- 13:16I just missed that last That's just that's just how confident you are in
- 13:20your uh you know, predictability. Yeah, you just you say, what's
- 13:24going to happen? And then you don't need to watch it happen. Sort
- 13:28of. It's like when iron Man hits that tiny missile against that tank,
- 13:33he doesn't have to watch it. He knows it's going to blow up.
- 13:35So you say, Cowboys defense is going to hold it down, and didn't
- 13:39you go to the bathroom and then Stephan Gilmour makes a great interception in the
- 13:43game. Basically, if you come back from the bathroom and go, what
- 13:46did I miss, bitch? I did I did? I did call the
- 13:48wrong player. I said it was going to be bland with the interception to
- 13:52stop the game. Uh, you know, I know it's important. It's
- 13:54important for your for your followers because you are at this point building work's cult
- 14:00with your powers to not only injure Cowboys players, but to basically will victory
- 14:09out. I like to believe I can do that. I like to believe
- 14:11that. So it's important to show your followers that you're not perfect, right
- 14:18right, okay, but that you are great. Yeah. It's like it's
- 14:22like when when the whole Waco thing happened with David Koresh and I was like,
- 14:24I think he's the same. I'm like, you know what, he
- 14:26might he might have. If he's Jesus, he shouldn't wear glasses. I'm
- 14:31just saying I don't. I don't know he should. He's probably have twenty
- 14:35twenty vision. It's just I'm just saying, if you're my savior, at
- 14:39least don't be near sighted. Like that's all. That's all I asked for.
- 14:43But I did say, like, you know, he predicted that he
- 14:45was the one. I'm all right, man, and when the thing went
- 14:48on fire, I go, Man, if he walks out right now in
- 14:50the middle of this fire, you guys are fucked. You're listening to the

- 15:35the Treehouse Football Podcast number six. If we were still on the radio,
- 15:41this would be where I would reset and say, in case you're just joining
- 15:45us, our dear friend Trey Trenholm is feeling under the weather today. So
- 15:52it's just me and Raj, yeah, casting and if you're there's no one
- 15:56that's picking up the show in the middle unless you're just a freak. So
- 16:02and we're both wearing we're wearing white today. I normally bust your chops with.
- 16:07It's you and Trey that normally match. And so I think the universe
- 16:11was like Trey is not feeling well, put on a white shirt, and
- 16:14I felt it. I absolutely felt it. Wow. Yeah, because earlier
- 16:18Rise I actually was. I was. I was wearing sort of a like
- 16:22a like a pinkish, like a salmon colored shirt. I think you would
- 16:26look good in salmon, and I changed. Interesting, it's not because once
- 16:32again your powers. Yes, I am low through the universe to me twenty
- 16:37two hundred miles away, and I said, no, no, no,
- 16:41no, no, I need to put on a white shirt. Now,
- 16:44Salmon wasn't mauve, you know, it might have been more of a MAV
- 16:48now that I think about it. Yeah, it's an old shirt. It
- 16:49may have started out sort of a sort of a salmon, but it's gone
- 16:52more mauv now, I suppose. Yeah. This is when I realized,
- 16:56like I didn't know, like I'm from that generation with Crayle only had sixteen
- 17:00crayons. I'm from I'm the sixteen crayon kid, right. And I was
- 17:06in Toronto. I was in the mall and I was my buddy was shopping
- 17:11for a tie. We had to unfortunately attend a funeral and he forgot a
- 17:15tie. And I had my hand on this how I know, Mauv.
- 17:19I had my hand on this sweater. I didn't realize I was touching as
- 17:22well. I was just kind of leaning while he was doing his shopping.
- 17:26And the salesperson comes up and goes, you would look amazing in MAUV,
- 17:33and I was. I was like, please, God, don't be named
- 17:34Mauv. Please don't let that be your name. Yeah, now I'm with
- 17:41you. I mean I had, I had. I was also a sixteen
- 17:45Crayola kid for a little while. Okay, eventually I was able to graduate
- 17:48to the I believe it was the sixty four. Oh wow, Okay,
- 17:52yeah, yeah, so I think that was when that was when my parents,
- 17:55I like, went up a tax bracket. I guess. Yeah.
- 17:57But as they always say, in anything, there's always somebody better. There's
- 18:03always somebody, you know, more athletic, better looking. There's always somebody
- 18:06richer than you, no matter if you're the richest person on the planet,
- 18:08unless Elon Musk. So I had the sixty four crayon and then one day
- 18:15you go to school, yep, and someone shows up with like, what
- 18:18is it the one hundred and twenty eight. I don't know. I went
- 18:22from sixteen to Matt pencils, like that's that's where ooh gotcha? Yeah.
- 18:26Yeah. At some point someone shows up with basically the briefcase size Crayola thing.
- 18:32Yeah, and they can They can create anything, and you just need
- 18:34to lose count, and their vocabulary leaps exponentially because they now know all these
- 18:41new colors that don't even sound like colors anymore, like love. Yeah,
- 18:45I was lost at burnt Okra. I was like, I'm out, I'm
- 18:48good. I don't need to And then they had the one with the I
- 18:52wonder if they named it burnt Okra to try to deter us kids from eating
- 18:55that crayon. My mom trust me burnt oprah many a time, and I'm
- 19:00like, that's not what it looks like. Uh. But then you had
- 19:03the one with the sharpener on the side, like you could sharpen your And
- 19:07when I saw and I think, I think my buddy Scott had the sixty
- 19:12four with the sharpener, and I was like, I don't know what his
- 19:15family does for a living, but there, I bet they have all the
- 19:18encyclopedias, like I bet all the encyclopedias they probably have. Uh, they
- 19:23probably have, you know, the Merriam webs like any every possible dictionary they
- 19:27have that, every possible uh encyclopedia they have that, even like the off
- 19:33brand encyclopedias, like like was it Britannica was the main one. Yeah,
- 19:38we had two of them. We had we had V and W. Yeah
- 19:44you U two V, right and then W. We had those. Those
- 19:48are the two the two we had. Yeah, I assumed that. I
- 19:51assume the kids that had the creole as sharpener can like, I assume their
- 19:55parents worked for NASA or something. Uh. But before before I forget Uh,
- 20:02if you don't mind, I know, we don't do shout outs on
- 20:03this show. It's been historical that we we don't do shout outs. But
- 20:08I have to. I have to today. Okay, my my buddy and
- 20:15dear dear friend, a e W Wrestling superstar. Uh, mister Lance Archer,
- 20:22the murder Hawk Monster from Herne, Texas. Lance flew all the way
- 20:26out to Sofi Stadium to cheer on yeah the Chargers. Oh yes, yeah,
- 20:36he chose poorly. He was back the next morning, so I just
- 20:40went out, watched the game, flew right back, and uh I was
- 20:44up bright and early. Yeah, yeah, you know why, because everything
- 20:48felt right in the world the Cowboys. The Cowboys won, the Rangers were
- 20:53still undefeated in the playoffs. After you know, you know, come come
- 20:56Tuesday morning and you've got the forty nine ers losing against the Browns, which
- 21:03makes that loss against them seeing a little bit less. And the Eagles managed
- 21:08to lose to the New York Jets the day before. Everything was beautiful Tuesday
- 21:15morning. As a Cowboys fan, Yeah, I happened to be at the
- 21:18one spot that everybody was excited about the Eagles. It was a little sports
- 21:27bar over in Carrollton. I just stopped in to they have really really good
- 21:33chicken tenders, and I stopped to get some tenders in and the Eagles were
- 21:37a play in and the Eagles fans were there, and it was it was
- 21:41the best chicken tender. I don't even know how to describe how good these
- 21:45tenders were. Just listening to the Eagles fans watching their team lose to the
- 21:51Jets. Well, it turns out if you really want delicious chicken tenders,
- 21:56you got to dip them in the tiers of Eagles fans and just sop them
- 22:02up. They are delicious with honey mustard. I'm texting, I'm gonna dip
- 22:11it in some gravy. Oh, there you go. All right, Thanks
