- 0:43Speaker 3: I started mine, so beat you.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Oh no, oh, okay, great, let's start this video. Then
- 0:52Speaker 1: in three two?
- 0:56Speaker 3: What is happening? I'm Rob Lundquist book and we are
- 1:00Speaker 3: the Avid indoors Man.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Hello everyone, Hello, how are you? Sir man? It has
- 1:07Speaker 1: been a day over here?
- 1:08Speaker 3: Does it tell me everything?
- 1:10Speaker 4: So you know the broad strokes because I texted you
- 1:14Speaker 4: earlier and were like, I'm good, but I don't know
- 1:17Speaker 4: what's going to happen.
- 1:18Speaker 1: We may need to move the podcast tonight.
- 1:22Speaker 4: I have had a low iron for like a year
- 1:24Speaker 4: and a half now, and we've been trying to figure
- 1:26Speaker 4: it out and doing whatever. And I was going to
- 1:28Speaker 4: get an iron transfusion and they even have like a
- 1:32Speaker 4: test period to see if you react to things, and
- 1:35Speaker 4: I didn't. And then twenty minutes into the big, the
- 1:39Speaker 4: big bag of stuff, I was like, excuse me, a nurse,
- 1:44Speaker 4: I think my throat is swelling shut right now.
- 1:47Speaker 1: That's what it feels like. Is happening right now. My god.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I was like, I have had anaphylactic allergies for quite
- 1:53Speaker 1: some time, and boy, this feels familiar.
- 1:56Speaker 4: And I was like, and they had, you know, of course,
- 1:59Speaker 4: warned me beforehand, and like, okay, if you notice anything,
- 2:02Speaker 4: let us know right away. And I was like, I
- 2:04Speaker 4: am noticing something.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So I, for the first time in my life, had
- 2:09Speaker 1: to use an EpiPen today.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Wow, dude, dude, I.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Feel so crazy right now.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Because I had so I knew I was going to
- 2:16Speaker 4: be there for like five hours, and so I was like,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm going to read books. I'm gonna have some coffee today,
- 2:21Speaker 4: and as.
- 2:21Speaker 1: A little treat to myself.
- 2:24Speaker 4: It turned into the coffee that I already had a
- 2:28Speaker 4: bunch of Bena drill that made me feel real weird
- 2:30Speaker 4: and sleepy while also being caffeinated, some steroids, and an EpiPen. Wow,
- 2:37Speaker 4: and I am fine. I should have said this at
- 2:39Speaker 4: the top. I'm totally cool. Now, everything's fine. We're going
- 2:43Speaker 4: to go back to a different kind of iron that
- 2:45Speaker 4: I had used previously and didn't have problems with.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But yeah, it was an exciting day.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Holy cow, dude, that sounds like a lot. So how
- 2:53Speaker 3: does that mess with your system?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Like where you just I just have you taken? You've
- 2:59Speaker 1: taken like in his own before right.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Makes me feel like I'm like, like have electricity under
- 3:05Speaker 4: my skin or something. It's not terrible, honestly, It's probably
- 3:09Speaker 4: mostly the caffeine, you know, because I'm such a whiss about.
- 3:13Speaker 1: That, but a little jittery. Yeah, I just I have.
- 3:16Speaker 4: An elevated heart rate a little bit right now and
- 3:19Speaker 4: just kind of feel like, you know, like a little.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I know some people can get kind of emotional. So
- 3:23Speaker 3: uh oh, I don't know what's going to happen with you.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 3:27Speaker 4: It was funny because the nurse was like, you seem
- 3:30Speaker 4: pretty calm, are you sure? And I was like, I mean,
- 3:33Speaker 4: I don't really see the point in freaking out, but
- 3:35Speaker 4: also yeah, I'm one hundred percent sure, Like I'm concerned
- 3:39Speaker 4: if you don't get me an EpiPen. My throat is
- 3:41Speaker 4: going to swell shut. And she was like, oh my god, Okay,
- 3:45Speaker 4: is this just you think or and then I sent
- 3:48Speaker 4: them into a real tizzy. They had a much harder
- 3:51Speaker 4: time with it than I did as far as actually
- 3:53Speaker 4: doing anything.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I just had to sit there.
- 3:56Speaker 3: So then you're actually allergic to iron transfusions.
- 4:00Speaker 4: That part, I'm not clear about something in that specific thing.
- 4:03Speaker 4: And I don't have any like medicinal allergies, so this
- 4:07Speaker 4: caught me by caught me unawares for sure.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But or maybe it's not an allergy. Maybe it's just
- 4:14Speaker 1: a response to it or something.
- 4:15Speaker 4: I don't know what the difference would be really, but yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 4: it was crazy, dude, and Epipen's hurt.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know anything about that one. I didn't
- 4:25Speaker 1: even get to do it because obviously that she wouldn't
- 4:28Speaker 1: let me, which was a bummer. So I still have
- 4:30Speaker 1: never been able to do it.
- 4:31Speaker 4: It was fine, It's just like a regular shot, but
- 4:34Speaker 4: it's a they get in there, they get in there.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Wow. But yeah, so it was It was crazy.
- 4:39Speaker 4: And when I texted you, I was still kind of
- 4:41Speaker 4: like recovering, and I was like, I don't At one
- 4:44Speaker 4: point they were talking about getting me a room in
- 4:47Speaker 4: the hospital, like if they'd have to observe me, which did, which.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I was like, well that as long as we get
- 4:53Speaker 1: ten care of, that's not a thing. So it was
- 4:55Speaker 1: ultimately not a huge deal. It was just a little
- 4:58Speaker 1: little bump in the road that was interesting for the day.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Crazy dude, Well, I'm glad you're feeling okay.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel pretty good. I might be like a
- 5:05Speaker 4: little extra, a little wine crazy.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And I knew you were allergic to iron, but I
- 5:12Speaker 3: just thought you were allergic to pumping iron and that's
- 5:14Speaker 3: why you didn't nice.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Where it out. I don't like that, but it is funny.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I respect it. I was thinking about that for so long.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was trying to fit it in there.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Really couldn't.
- 5:29Speaker 1: So that was still pretty I loved it. I loved it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I joke a great joke.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Other than that, life is good. I got to see
- 5:39Speaker 4: you guys a bunch this last week.
- 5:41Speaker 3: It was so cool.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Dude.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yeah, we're doing shows in Minnesota this week. I posted
- 5:45Speaker 3: it on our socials, so we actually took a picture together.
- 5:49Speaker 1: We feel like I haven't seen you by the way
- 5:51Speaker 1: that it was a good one. Maybe get framed because
- 5:54Speaker 1: that is cute. It was a good one.
- 5:55Speaker 3: It is down in the paramount dressing room marriage.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I was for again, how much shorter I
- 6:01Speaker 1: am than you for some reason until a picture. I
- 6:03Speaker 1: don't know why, but yeah, but I thought we looked
- 6:06Speaker 1: very handsome.
- 6:07Speaker 3: We did, we did, and it was fun seeing you.
- 6:10Speaker 1: That was your mom.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I feel bad I didn't get to see the rest
- 6:12Speaker 3: of your fam I kind of I split pretty fast after.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I always tell them to like Minnesota Minnesota shows. Ironically,
- 6:20Speaker 4: I don't see Rob as much because he's usually hanging
- 6:22Speaker 4: with this van, which I totally get and obviously is No,
- 6:26Speaker 4: there's no nothing weird on my end about that. But
- 6:29Speaker 4: I got to hang out with your bandmates a ton
- 6:30Speaker 4: and that was also very lovely. But I got to
- 6:33Speaker 4: see you you know, as well, and it was it
- 6:34Speaker 4: was awesome.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Man, were a great shows. Thank you? Really good.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Really it was really fun. Yeah, I don't mean.
- 6:42Speaker 1: That's not what I was.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I mean, I've been kind of telling you that the
- 6:45Speaker 3: shows have been a little you know, a little under soul, right,
- 6:50Speaker 3: but these were all the Minnesota and it was really great.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 6:56Speaker 3: God, it was fun. How have you been I've been good.
- 7:01Speaker 3: It's been great.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know.
- 7:02Speaker 3: We we got to do these shows at home, and
- 7:06Speaker 3: so I just got to drive to the show, drive
- 7:08Speaker 3: back home, and I wasn't like, you know, out of town.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So that part was really nice. And now we have
- 7:15Speaker 3: an extended period amount of time off again, so I
- 7:18Speaker 3: can forget the show all over again.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And that part is stressful. I get that.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that. But we're going to be recording
- 7:26Speaker 3: the next album and all that stuff now.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So two things. Number one, two things, we should go
- 7:31Speaker 1: to a twins game, agreed, since.
- 7:33Speaker 3: We just had one today and I wanted to do that.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Number two, when does this come out? Do you remember offhand?
- 7:40Speaker 3: It'll be two weeks from now.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Oh perfect, June twelfth and thirteenth. I'm doing a gig
- 7:47Speaker 1: which I never heard, call to plug anything.
- 7:50Speaker 4: So yes, yes, I'm in a Blues Brothers tribute group
- 7:54Speaker 4: with our buddy heat Box. Yes, I'm playing Joliet Jake.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I believe it is his name, the Blushy Pot Blues. Yes,
- 8:03Speaker 4: very excited and nervous about it. But we're gonna be
- 8:05Speaker 4: at a hook and Ladder for sure on the twelfth,
- 8:07Speaker 4: and then a festival on the thirteenth.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You guys can.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Look at my socials and you'll see like how to
- 8:13Speaker 4: buy tickets and stuff. It's gonna be a killer show.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Everybody that's attached is super super talented except for me.
- 8:20Speaker 1: But you know we're gonna have a bad time. No,
- 8:23Speaker 1: it's gonna make a great Jake, dude, it's gonna be
- 8:25Speaker 1: super fun. I gotta watch that movie a bunch. And
- 8:27Speaker 1: we just picked all the songs and I'm singing a
- 8:30Speaker 1: lot of songs.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Luckily Jake's the front man.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Luckily not Rubber Biscuit, because I was like, I don't
- 8:36Speaker 4: know what this song is about, and Box was like, oh,
- 8:38Speaker 4: I love that song.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I sing it all the time. And I was like,
- 8:40Speaker 1: of course you do have that e friends. Yeah, but yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 1: it's gonna be fun.
- 8:46Speaker 4: And it's all like bluesy stuff, so it'll be super
- 8:48Speaker 4: super fun. And I'm pretty easy in the grand scheme
- 8:51Speaker 4: of things, I think.
- 8:51Speaker 3: But you have a big band behind you.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Yeah, there's god, how many people are it's got to
- 8:58Speaker 4: be twelve.
- 9:00Speaker 1: The best musicians piece. That's what was so cool about
- 9:03Speaker 1: the Blues Brothers.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Yeah, we got we got full horns, full band, We
- 9:08Speaker 4: got a couple of extra singers Steph Steph Divine is
- 9:13Speaker 4: gonna sing thing.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Wow, she's so good to be a backup, which is nuts.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm also that might be the song I'm most
- 9:20Speaker 4: excited to sing is just the background parts for things,
- 9:22Speaker 4: because I love I love singing backgrounds.
- 9:25Speaker 3: They're so fun and that song is, Oh, it's just
- 9:27Speaker 3: the best in the whole world.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm trying to think who else. I'll have to
- 9:33Speaker 4: look it up at some point, but everybody is super,
- 9:36Speaker 4: super talented, so I'm very lucky to be involved, and
- 9:39Speaker 4: that's going to be awesome. So it's in Minneapolis, Hook
- 9:42Speaker 4: and Ladder, and then we're doing a festival that I
- 9:44Speaker 4: don't recall, but all the information will be available on things.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Maybe we can even share it from the avid indorsman
- 9:51Speaker 4: for sure. Yeah, I so seldom have things to its
- 9:57Speaker 4: very lovely, so good plug.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but we should get into it. What have you?
- 10:02Speaker 1: What's the most recent movie you've seen, Palell?
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll plug, I'll plug this movie. Kelsey had recommended
- 10:11Speaker 3: that I read a book that she liked from a
- 10:13Speaker 3: couple of years back and saw that it was becoming
- 10:16Speaker 3: a movie.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And it is.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Called Remarkably Bright Creatures remark I don't even know this.
- 10:23Speaker 3: It just came out last week and it went straight
- 10:27Speaker 3: to the Netflix.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah maybe it actually yeah maybe.
- 10:33Speaker 3: But I finished the book a couple of weeks ago,
- 10:36Speaker 3: and I'm happy to say that both the book and
- 10:38Speaker 3: the movie are lovely, wonderful. It's about three characters. An
- 10:44Speaker 3: older woman who's widowed who works at an aquarium, a
- 10:47Speaker 3: younger man who's kind of like lost in the world
- 10:52Speaker 3: moves to this new town, also works at the aquariums
- 10:57Speaker 3: looking for his strange dad. And then and octopus. We
- 11:01Speaker 3: get the octopuses like Narration, and he's like in the
- 11:06Speaker 3: late stage of his life, deals with friendship, deals with loss,
- 11:11Speaker 3: deals with taking chances, and it's really great. The movie
- 11:17Speaker 3: changes some plot points that I thought totally worked and
- 11:21Speaker 3: understood why they did it, and it didn't mess up
- 11:23Speaker 3: my experience as someone who enjoyed the original plot from
- 11:27Speaker 3: the book. It's really sweet. I thought Sally Field was
- 11:31Speaker 3: perfectly cast. Luis Colman does a good job and it
- 11:37Speaker 3: is totally worth reading or just watching the movie whatever
- 11:40Speaker 3: you want to do.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But it was funny.
- 11:42Speaker 3: We were up in Park Rapids at the bookstore that
- 11:45Speaker 3: we love to go to the Beagle and the Wolf.
- 11:47Speaker 1: It's called.
- 11:50Speaker 3: And we were looking for that theew of Golden Book,
- 11:53Speaker 3: which I still need to loan you. Yeah, it's incredible.
- 11:58Speaker 3: But she said, between that book and remarkably Bright Creatures,
- 12:01Speaker 3: she's never heard anyone say a bad thing.
- 12:04Speaker 1: About either one of them. Amazing. So it's just one
- 12:07Speaker 1: of those books that just makes you feel good. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: want to read that. That sounds wonderful.
- 12:13Speaker 3: But it's great, And if you don't read it, you
- 12:15Speaker 3: can watch it on Netflix.
- 12:16Speaker 1: It is there.
- 12:17Speaker 3: It is a Netflix movie and it is fantastic.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Very cool.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Yeah, very cool.
- 12:22Speaker 1: What have you been watching?
- 12:24Speaker 4: Mine is also sort of book related, only in that
- 12:27Speaker 4: it's a device within the movie.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I saw the sheep detectives in the movie theater. I'm
- 12:32Speaker 1: so jealous.
- 12:34Speaker 4: It looks real cute based on the trailer, and it fell.
- 12:38Speaker 4: It followed through on that because it was really great. Really,
- 12:41Speaker 4: I enjoyed myself a lot. This movie is so much
- 12:45Speaker 4: more touching than it has. Like it didn't need to be,
- 12:48Speaker 4: you know, like it could have just been silly and fun,
- 12:50Speaker 4: and it is that at various points.
- 12:53Speaker 1: But man, it's it's just lovely. It's my best description
- 12:57Speaker 1: of it. Would be.
- 12:58Speaker 4: It's sort of Knives Out meets Thursday Murder Club meets
- 13:02Speaker 4: It Babe, really fun all. Hugh Jackman is the like
- 13:12Speaker 4: the sheep herder Man, the Sheepman.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Is there a word for that? What is that? Shepherd? Shepherd?
- 13:19Speaker 4: Jesus Lord, so many things in my system right now.
- 13:23Speaker 4: A lot of people are in this. I won't say
- 13:26Speaker 4: them all because I always think it's fun. I don't
- 13:29Speaker 4: know if others do it is. I think it's fun
- 13:30Speaker 4: to try and figure it out when you're there. But
- 13:32Speaker 4: same same, it is a cavalcade of wonderful people that
- 13:37Speaker 4: you guys will know and love, and it's there's just
- 13:40Speaker 4: so much heart to this movie. It's kind of a
- 13:43Speaker 4: mystery crime. Who done it? What happens is? And this
- 13:48Speaker 4: is on the trailer, so I don't feel weird, h
- 13:50Speaker 4: he Hugh Jackman reads to the Sheep every night, these
- 13:53Speaker 4: murder mystery books. We then find out that they have
- 13:56Speaker 4: like consciousness and are talking to one another and stuff,
- 13:58Speaker 4: you know, And then he gets murdered and it is
- 14:02Speaker 4: on them to be the Sheep detectives, as the name states,
- 14:06Speaker 4: and it is it's still life.
- 14:08Speaker 1: We really had a great time. Dave and I did
- 14:10Speaker 1: a bang bang.
- 14:12Speaker 4: The other one I will talk about in a second,
- 14:14Speaker 4: but and this one was just like we did it second.
- 14:17Speaker 1: We were like, we chose so.
- 14:19Speaker 4: So wonderfully because it's just such a lovely time and
- 14:23Speaker 4: it was really great.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I love that. I'm jealous, dude, I really want to
- 14:26Speaker 1: see that. You think it would be good.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I know that there's it's all based around to murder,
- 14:31Speaker 3: but do you think that the kiddos will be able
- 14:33Speaker 3: to handle it?
- 14:34Speaker 1: Okay?
- 14:34Speaker 4: I know I was trying to be conscious of that,
- 14:36Speaker 4: and I'm not a great judge of that. I think
- 14:38Speaker 4: it's worth exploring because I think they could and it's
- 14:41Speaker 4: PG so oh yeah, yeah, Like I don't and I
- 14:46Speaker 4: don't think there was anything that was like overly scary
- 14:50Speaker 4: in it. I think they'd be all right, and I
- 14:52Speaker 4: think they would. They would really love the fun parts
- 14:55Speaker 4: for sure. Yeah, but it's I'm a little scared to
- 14:58Speaker 4: say yes or no because I don't want to be
- 14:59Speaker 4: wrong trauma.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I really want to bring those I want to go
- 15:02Speaker 3: to a movie that I want to see with them.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I think it's worth a shot. Due I think it's
- 15:06Speaker 1: worth a shot. I get you. Yeah, yeah, but yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 1: how about have you been streaming any streaming?
- 15:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I've been rocking out the Netflix. I went and
- 15:18Speaker 3: checked out This is a Gardening show. Zach Alfanakis decided
- 15:23Speaker 3: to create a documentary about gardening and growing.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Fo this looks cute. This looks cute.
- 15:29Speaker 3: It's super cute. Man. He says that the future is
- 15:32Speaker 3: agrarian in all of the episodes, and he thinks it's
- 15:35Speaker 3: important for young people to understand how food has grown
- 15:38Speaker 3: and how gardening can improve people's lives and make them happier.
- 15:42Speaker 3: And yeah, dude, these are six fifteen to twenty minute episodes,
- 15:47Speaker 3: so I mean we flew through it absolutely, so, like
- 15:53Speaker 3: the first one is on apples, and then it's like
- 15:55Speaker 3: carrots and tomatoes and then vegetables. So he like is
- 15:59Speaker 3: breaking down each plans. He interviews farmers and has them
- 16:03Speaker 3: explain how to make these plants grow in a really
- 16:06Speaker 3: really funny way. Another thing that is probably my favorite
- 16:10Speaker 3: part of the show. Every episode he interviews children and
- 16:16Speaker 3: just the way that he talks to these kids, it's
- 16:20Speaker 3: so much fun, dude, and these kids are hilarious. He
- 16:23Speaker 3: just gets like the best stuff out of them.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Well because he somehow can be like funny but also
- 16:29Speaker 4: being a straight man when he talks to people like
- 16:31Speaker 4: he's very talented at that.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I bet with kids. That's a really fun dynamic. It
- 16:35Speaker 1: is a really fun that's that's cool.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I was a big fan of it. It made me laugh,
- 16:39Speaker 3: made learn some things, and just overall good time.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And it's called this is a gardening show. This is
- 16:46Speaker 1: a gardening show. I wasn't sure if you were explaining
- 16:49Speaker 1: or which I'm sure is part of the joke. That's great. Yep,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I love that, very cool man love it.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, and you watched the whole thing in an hour
- 16:56Speaker 3: and a half.
- 16:57Speaker 1: What have you been streaming?
- 16:59Speaker 4: So it's not a streamer. But like I said, we
- 17:02Speaker 4: did a bang bang bang bang. Yes, we went to
- 17:05Speaker 4: a movie that I'd never heard of. Dave saw something
- 17:08Speaker 4: about it, so we went and checked it out, called
- 17:10Speaker 4: Blue Heron.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Have you heard anything about this movie at all? Not
- 17:13Speaker 1: a thing.
- 17:14Speaker 4: It seemed like an art film. Uh so the I'm
- 17:18Speaker 4: going to tell you this first, so the little it's
- 17:21Speaker 4: the drama, and the little snippet on IMDb, which is
- 17:24Speaker 4: all I knew, said. A family of six settles in
- 17:26Speaker 4: their new home on Vancouver Island as internal dynamics are
- 17:30Speaker 4: slowly revealed through the eyes of the youngest child, and
- 17:34Speaker 4: increasingly the older brother has questionable actions. Now based on that,
- 17:40Speaker 4: I thought we were going to get into like a
- 17:42Speaker 4: drama slash horror film.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah, because Dave is wont to bring us to those.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Sure turns out it's just a regular drama. It's so
- 17:51Speaker 4: I was a little bit thrown off, but it is.
- 17:53Speaker 4: This family is a Hungarian family that moves to Canada.
- 17:57Speaker 4: So there's some subtitles and stuff happening. So beautiful there,
- 18:02Speaker 4: so beautiful. It's a place I've always wanted to go,
- 18:05Speaker 4: but it definitely made me want to go again.
- 18:07Speaker 1: But it's it's.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Just a story about a person having a tough time
- 18:11Speaker 4: with like mental illness stuff and family dynamics from the
- 18:14Speaker 4: eyes of a child. And then you know, as things
- 18:18Speaker 4: go on and we grow, and you know, as that
- 18:20Speaker 4: child gets older, things change, just even from our own memories.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I didn't love it, but I think it's worth it's
- 18:29Speaker 4: worth seeing if if you think it's going to be intriguing,
- 18:31Speaker 4: I think you'll.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Have a nice time. And it's it's a ninety minute,
- 18:34Speaker 1: so you know you're not committing anybody in it. No one,
- 18:37Speaker 1: absolutely no.
- 18:38Speaker 4: What I recognized was in it, So okay, it's the
- 18:40Speaker 4: Hungarian movie. I think it's confusing. It was like a
- 18:44Speaker 4: Hungarian slash Canadian film. I guess sure, but I think
- 18:48Speaker 4: it's worth checking out. It's not like my favorite movie
- 18:51Speaker 4: of all time. But you know, every once in a while,
- 18:53Speaker 4: we got to throw a we got to throw an
- 18:55Speaker 4: artsy film in there instead of our sheep detectives and things.
- 18:58Speaker 1: So I had a good time. I thought it was
- 19:01Speaker 1: worth checking out.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Nice dude, Well, what do you think should we do
- 19:05Speaker 4: if you plug a rounds? Oh yeah, all right, Well,
- 19:08Speaker 4: you guys can uses as always over on switter machine,

- 19:54Speaker 3: movie we're talking about, and for this one, we decide
- 19:57Speaker 3: to do our top five favorite movie journalists.
- 20:01Speaker 1: A tough one to do anything silly with, but I
- 20:04Speaker 1: think I found a way.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Oh nice, Yeah, so we'll see.
- 20:07Speaker 1: It's gonna be fun. Though. There's a lot of journalists movies,
- 20:10Speaker 1: journalistic movies that so that'll be fun. It'll be a
- 20:14Speaker 1: great one. Love it.
- 20:17Speaker 4: We are here today to talk about a film that
- 20:20Speaker 4: was just begging for a sequel. We're here to talk
- 20:22Speaker 4: a little the Devil Wears Prada to doose. Very excited
- 20:27Speaker 4: to talk about this and very excited to talk about
- 20:29Speaker 4: the person that we had on for Devil Wears Prada one.
- 20:33Speaker 1: She's a young lady who loves fashion. She's very fashionable.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I don't know if she has any Prada, but everything
- 20:41Speaker 4: she wears looks like it's Prada, so I think there's
- 20:43Speaker 4: at least that she is a devil, though I will
- 20:46Speaker 4: say that because she's from New Jersey, like the hockey team.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Oh I get it.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That's fun, right, I hate the New Jersey Devils. They sick. Yeah,
- 20:56Speaker 1: bring that up anyway. We have our old friend. You
- 20:59Speaker 1: guys know are in love for Sammy Madronte.
- 21:03Speaker 3: What's up Sammy?
- 21:04Speaker 1: Hi guys, Hi, how are you? You know? I'm doing great.
- 21:11Speaker 5: I think probably a little busier than the last time
- 21:13Speaker 5: I talked to you, guys.
- 21:15Speaker 1: But but good, good busy. I love that. And I
- 21:21Speaker 1: love those glasses. Oh yeah, those glasses are darling. Thank you.
- 21:25Speaker 5: I I didn't have like a ton of time today,
- 21:29Speaker 5: but I was like, what can I throw on to
- 21:32Speaker 5: make me feel fashionable? So I put on my colorful
- 21:34Speaker 5: necklace and my sunglasses. It accomplished to I don't know
- 21:40Speaker 5: that uh Meryl Streep would approve this, would.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I think she would? You think you made that choice
- 21:51Speaker 1: to wear those glasses. Yeah, I should have wore something.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I'm an idiot.
- 22:00Speaker 3: This are really insured.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I saw it do I wore it on Saturday? I know,
- 22:03Speaker 1: whatever day I saw you.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Ah, well, just look at that photo. Guys, here you go.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you. It's probably not
- 22:12Speaker 1: actually cirillian, it's just blue blue.
- 22:17Speaker 4: Well, this is all going pretty well, So go to
- 22:19Speaker 4: the reading Jones on Instagram and follow Sammy.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Yeah, what have you been reading? Anything fun?
- 22:25Speaker 1: Yes? Big time?
- 22:27Speaker 5: The two things I'll mention I just finished Chain Gang
- 22:31Speaker 5: All Stars, which was it's like a buzzy book. It
- 22:35Speaker 5: came out in twenty twenty three, and it is like
- 22:40Speaker 5: well loved and spoken about in the book community.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Cool.
- 22:45Speaker 5: But it's like cool, it's like it takes place I
- 22:51Speaker 5: think in the future. It's about the prison system, and
- 22:56Speaker 5: if the author imagines, like if we set up our
- 23:02Speaker 5: gladiator style fights for prisoners and put it on like
- 23:07Speaker 5: a reality show, it's fascinating. It's very powerful. That was
- 23:13Speaker 5: like five stars for me.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Easy.
- 23:16Speaker 4: And then is it kind of dungeon Crawler Carly or not? No,
- 23:20Speaker 4: it's more serious than that.
- 23:22Speaker 5: It's very serious.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Cool.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's like the writing styles kind of similar
- 23:30Speaker 5: to a Hunger Games, but it's more more grounded in reality,
- 23:35Speaker 5: so it's like has a stronger viewpoint. You know.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Cool.
- 23:39Speaker 3: That sounds awesome, It's really great.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It does sound awesome.
- 23:42Speaker 5: And then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum,
- 23:45Speaker 5: I have been reading Wuthering Heights with my mom for
- 23:48Speaker 5: months now and we just finished. I just finished it
- 23:53Speaker 5: yesterday or this morning, either yesterday or this morning, and
- 23:56Speaker 5: we just had our final chat about it, like before
- 23:59Speaker 5: I got on with you.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So you do a book club with your mom.
- 24:02Speaker 5: We did a buttery read, a buddy read.
- 24:04Speaker 1: We call it, yeah, the cutest thing I've ever heard.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I love that. C getta.
- 24:10Speaker 5: Yeah, we like we like chatted every five chapters. And
- 24:16Speaker 5: Willing Heights is a it's a tough book.
- 24:19Speaker 1: So it took us months. Is that a Jane Austen book?
- 24:23Speaker 5: Emily Bronte her one and only book?
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I just knew I should have read it,
- 24:29Speaker 1: but I never have an interest there. I think I
- 24:31Speaker 1: saw how big it was, like.
- 24:34Speaker 3: All the Great gats Be.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It's not that big.
- 24:37Speaker 5: It's like, okay, three hundred pages, but oh.
- 24:41Speaker 1: That's huge for me. Oh stop stop.
- 24:45Speaker 5: You know it's very tough reading and they wouldn't have
- 24:48Speaker 5: taught it in schools because it's very dark, like very dark.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I love it, but yeah, I have to check that out.
- 24:56Speaker 3: You have to check that you did a man called
- 25:00Speaker 3: have you read the Frederick Backman books?
- 25:03Speaker 5: The only first The only other one I had read.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Was Anxious People.
- 25:07Speaker 3: That was my first one.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Oh that's funny. I haven't read that one with him.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I've read the other ones that one. Strangely, you're talking
- 25:13Speaker 1: to two Backman enthusiasts. Oh yeah, we love him.
- 25:17Speaker 5: I can see why, because it's like there's so much
- 25:20Speaker 5: humor infused into these like very heartfelt, too heartfelt, and
- 25:25Speaker 5: like in a man called Ove's case, very heavy haircumstances.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I enjoyed it.
- 25:34Speaker 5: I'm looking forward to seeing the movie too, because I
- 25:37Speaker 5: haven't seen it.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Both are good. You can do the Tom Hanks version
- 25:41Speaker 3: or the Swedish version. Swedish version I watched first and
- 25:44Speaker 3: it was fantastic.
- 25:46Speaker 1: That's awesome. They're both really really yeah.
- 25:49Speaker 4: In different ways too, which is kind of fun, so
- 25:50Speaker 4: you don't feel like it's the same.
- 25:52Speaker 1: That's cool interpretation, which is kind of fun too. That's cool. Yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I'll watch both.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Uh, Sammy, I have to let you know only because
- 26:00Speaker 4: I've recommended this book a dozen times to you, and
- 26:03Speaker 4: this is not giving you a hard time, is just.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Giving me a hard time. I already know what you're.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Has a second book that I didn't know about until recently,
- 26:11Speaker 4: so I have purchased it and I'm reading it now.
- 26:13Speaker 5: No, Yeah, I've I've seen it, not just you like
- 26:16Speaker 5: I've I've seen people talk about it on Instagram, and
- 26:19Speaker 5: I'm I do want to read it.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Just have don't buy them. I'm sending both of these
- 26:24Speaker 4: books to you.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Afterwards, because then you're forced to talk to me about them.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And that's really all I'm here for is forcing my
- 26:30Speaker 1: friends into chatting with me.
- 26:32Speaker 3: I've been trying to get bugs to read THEO of
- 26:34Speaker 3: Golden Have you heard of that one?
- 26:35Speaker 1: Sammy? My mom mentioned that one to me.
- 26:39Speaker 3: It's perfect, perfect book, really beautiful, yes, and good about Yes.
- 26:48Speaker 1: First I will read it first.
- 26:51Speaker 3: And he crushed it.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Wow. Good for him. That's awesome anyway, good for him.
- 26:57Speaker 3: This is a movie podcast, though, you guys, what corner.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Let's get back to the theater. This is pretty much.
- 27:04Speaker 5: What you get if you follow me at the reading Jones.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Check it out. What a plug?
- 27:09Speaker 4: Perfect perfect, perfect. But yeah, we're here to talk a little.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Devil Wars Product two.
- 27:14Speaker 1: It came out I don't know, two weeks ago, last
- 27:16Speaker 1: week whatever calendar. Yeah, Rob, Do you want to get
- 27:20Speaker 1: us started with just a rough synopsis?
- 27:23Speaker 3: Yeah. Set two decades after the original film, The devilwear
- 27:28Speaker 3: Is Product two follows Andy Sachs, a season journalist, as
- 27:33Speaker 3: she returns to Runway Magazine. Tasked with helping Miranda Priestley
- 27:37Speaker 3: survive a media crisis in Corporate threats Andy must navigate
- 27:41Speaker 3: an industry in flux and contend with her former assistant
- 27:45Speaker 3: turned rival, Emily Charlton.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Nice, Nice, Nice.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I didn't know that was her last name.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Time.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I know that she's just one of the Emily's Charlton
- 27:59Speaker 1: Charlton and intriguing, intriguing.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Let's go to Rotten to Models and here what they've said.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Critics have this coming in at pretty solid seventy eight.
- 28:07Speaker 3: You guys, that is higher than the original. The original
- 28:12Speaker 3: was only at seventy five. Yes, well that's dumb.
- 28:15Speaker 1: But isn't that crazy?
- 28:17Speaker 6: I like that.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Audience members have it at eighty five and higher
- 28:24Speaker 1: than the original, You guys, that's coraz. Well, we all
- 28:27Speaker 1: saw the original. We loved it so much. We came
- 28:29Speaker 1: out for these, you know, I just I was very
- 28:32Speaker 1: surprised by all. This is wild.
- 28:34Speaker 3: There's probably a million more ratings on the first one.
- 28:40Speaker 3: But still, yeah, I was surprised by it.
- 28:45Speaker 4: I love that you looked that up. Good call, good call. Well,
- 28:48Speaker 4: let's go more importantly and hear what we think.
- 28:51Speaker 1: It's time for our It's really in. It's so cold.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It's hot because it's blue, blue blue.
- 29:01Speaker 3: The blame is also very warm, very very warm.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Check it out. Read about your flame color and heat.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I'll go first. I was a little scared of this movie.
- 29:13Speaker 4: When I saw they were making a sequel, because a
- 29:16Speaker 4: lot of sequels don't work very well. I'm happy to
- 29:21Speaker 4: report this movie is great. Like, I really enjoyed it.
- 29:26Speaker 4: I think it it somehow captures the magic of the
- 29:28Speaker 4: first one. Yeah, while having new dynamics, we have a
- 29:33Speaker 4: couple of new characters, which is really fun. It's in
- 29:36Speaker 4: it's obviously in the more contemporary time, right, it's twenty
- 29:39Speaker 4: years later, so there's like some fun stuff.
- 29:41Speaker 1: They do with that. Yeah, I don't know, I really
- 29:45Speaker 1: enjoyed this.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Upon the watch, I figured I would like it anyway,
- 29:49Speaker 4: but I actually think it's a good movie too. Like
- 29:51Speaker 4: you know, there's these are very different things in my
- 29:54Speaker 4: life for sure, and I'm sure everyone else is. But
- 29:56Speaker 4: I think it's just great. They they really made their
- 30:00Speaker 4: relationship work with each other well where it was still antagonistic,
- 30:04Speaker 4: even though it was more of a team up thing,
- 30:08Speaker 4: realistic scenarios. Just really really fun to like overall talk
- 30:14Speaker 4: about media kind of you know, being so different than
- 30:17Speaker 4: it was in the past, even from the twenty years
- 30:21Speaker 4: ago now too, now, I think was really fun and
- 30:25Speaker 4: and deep without like getting bogged down by that either,
- 30:28Speaker 4: you know, like they touched on it and then they
- 30:30Speaker 4: moved on.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 4: I just I think it's just a bunch of ladies
- 30:35Speaker 4: and gentlemen making a great, super funny movie that was
- 30:40Speaker 4: still touching in points.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And I just.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Really loved it. I thought it was wonderful. I had
- 30:46Speaker 4: a great time and was shocked that it was so
- 30:50Speaker 4: wonderfully put together and that I was wrong. So I
- 30:53Speaker 4: was happy about that. My hottest take take. They've really
- 30:57Speaker 4: glossed over Andy's last one years. They were just like
- 31:01Speaker 4: I did some articles and I did some stuff.
- 31:03Speaker 3: She traveled all over the place see you later. Well,
- 31:07Speaker 3: but she was she was going all over the world
- 31:10Speaker 3: being a journalist.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Chasing stories and chasing stories like, oh, that's interesting that they.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Never award winning journalists because that that was her life,
- 31:20Speaker 3: didn't really find a man. I loved. I loved. One
- 31:25Speaker 3: of the things was like, she never slept with her colleagues.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Well she did, just the powerless ones.
- 31:30Speaker 1: They couldn't promote her. That was really powerless ones. I
- 31:33Speaker 1: did like that.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I did like that, but yeah, I feel you.
- 31:37Speaker 4: But yeah, it was just interesting that they kind of
- 31:39Speaker 4: lost it. I kind of liked the juxtaposition between Miss
- 31:43Speaker 4: Charlton and Andy.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Miss Charlton, I remember fifty fifty. I'd get that wrong,
- 31:51Speaker 1: but I thought that was kind of a fun device.
- 31:53Speaker 4: So if that's the reason, I'm cool with it obviously,
- 31:55Speaker 4: and it's it's the nittiest of picks, of course, but
- 31:59Speaker 4: h and actually another hot take, hot take. I was
- 32:03Speaker 4: very glad because one of the things I was really
- 32:05Speaker 4: worried about was they they talked about how fat these
- 32:09Speaker 4: women were so much in the first one that I like,
- 32:12Speaker 4: you know, we talked about it during the pod, but
- 32:14Speaker 4: I rewatched it before this one and I was like, hey,
- 32:18Speaker 4: they handled that so much better. There's still a you know,
- 32:21Speaker 4: a couple things in there, but like, overall, I think
- 32:25Speaker 4: they did a good job of like keeping it mean
- 32:27Speaker 4: without that.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Kind of meanness, which I liked, so I was relieved
- 32:32Speaker 1: about that too.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Hot Yeah, hot, take nice. I was very excited to
- 32:38Speaker 3: see they were making this into a sequel and excited
- 32:41Speaker 3: to see that people are enjoying it again. I'm surprised
- 32:43Speaker 3: that the scores are higher than the original, just because
- 32:47Speaker 3: I thought the original was a little more groundbreaking and
- 32:49Speaker 3: the stakes are a little higher. But glad that people
- 32:51Speaker 3: are enjoying it because I did as well. I love
- 32:55Speaker 3: that twenty years later they kept everyone in it. They
- 32:58Speaker 3: have the same director in David Frankel, and the same
- 33:02Speaker 3: writers in Lauren Weisberger and Aleen Brash McKenna, so that
- 33:06Speaker 3: was kind of cool. We brought back the same magical
- 33:09Speaker 3: cast with Meryl and Hathway and Tucci and Blunt, and
- 33:13Speaker 3: we added some big names in Kenneth Branna and Justin
- 33:16Speaker 3: Thurreau and Lucy Lou and bj Novack, as well as
- 33:19Speaker 3: some other fun folks we'll talk about more later. I
- 33:22Speaker 3: felt like some of the plot was a bit thin,
- 33:26Speaker 3: but enjoyed what it was saying about the state of journalism,
- 33:28Speaker 3: like what you were saying, and I just love the
- 33:32Speaker 3: chemistry between all these characters, and once they've gotten to in.
- 33:35Speaker 1: The last twenty years.
- 33:37Speaker 3: My least favorite part of the last film was the
- 33:41Speaker 3: relationship between Anne Hathaway and Adrian Grenier. Yea, and some
- 33:46Speaker 3: of my least favorite parts of this one were the
- 33:48Speaker 3: relationship between her and the OSSI contractor. And not because
- 33:51Speaker 3: I didn't like the Aussi character. I thought he was
- 33:54Speaker 3: way better than Adrian Grenier. I just didn't need it, Like,
- 34:00Speaker 3: I just feel like, we don't need her to get
- 34:02Speaker 3: into the these love like, we just don't. That's not
- 34:06Speaker 3: part of it for me anyway, And so I was
- 34:09Speaker 3: just kind of bored by those moments.
- 34:12Speaker 1: I get that.
- 34:13Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought this was a really good time.
- 34:15Speaker 3: It just felt like a fun reunion. I'm glad I
- 34:18Speaker 3: saw it. A hot take Carl Anthony Towns two seconds
- 34:22Speaker 3: of screen time. We're the cringiest part of the movie.
- 34:24Speaker 3: And I love Carl Anthony Towns, but he could have
- 34:28Speaker 3: gotten some pointers from Anthony Edwards on how to not
- 34:31Speaker 3: look super awkward in a movie.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I like it, respectfully disagree, but you're also probably I'm Carl,
- 34:41Speaker 1: just like, Hi, how are you? He was going to
- 34:44Speaker 1: look at the camera like wink.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Oh man, it was I I love her too, but
- 34:53Speaker 3: it was cringey. I was like excited.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I was like, oh, there's God.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Oh why is he Why is he so unnatural?
- 34:59Speaker 1: Even remember that moment.
- 35:01Speaker 3: It was just at the Hampton's house. At the Hampton's
- 35:05Speaker 3: where you see all those little cameos, he was one
- 35:09Speaker 3: of them. It was two seconds in the movie and
- 35:11Speaker 3: I was like.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Giant basketball guy. Right, Yes it was from here.
- 35:16Speaker 3: But I'm such a fan of his. I was excited
- 35:18Speaker 3: to see him. And then I was like, oh, buddy, yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 3: acting classes.
- 35:22Speaker 1: And he's killing it in the Eastern Conference finals right now,
- 35:24Speaker 1: So at least he's got that going.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Yeah, he's got a lot going for him.
- 35:29Speaker 1: But it's really just the one thing I think.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he does.
- 35:35Speaker 1: He's wonderful. I love that. Yeah. Not, We'll get him
- 35:38Speaker 1: some lessons before the next Yeah, because.
- 35:40Speaker 3: I think he could be great. He just playing himself
- 35:43Speaker 3: wasn't great. Maybe he just needs to get into the role.
- 35:47Speaker 4: To be fair to Carl, aunt got to just like
- 35:49Speaker 4: talk in a basketball court, which is where he belongs.
- 35:52Speaker 1: So yeah, you know, like that's probably easier to do.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Yeah, but Carl just had to say hello and couldn't
- 35:59Speaker 4: make it work.
- 36:00Speaker 3: It couldn't do it.
- 36:02Speaker 5: You know, they say that, like simpler lines are sometimes harder,
- 36:07Speaker 5: like the hardest, for sure, they say the hard the
- 36:10Speaker 5: hardest line to deliver is the word what.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yeah, really, because you try at it too much.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I was in I was I think I was
- 36:22Speaker 3: in a play in high school and I didn't know
- 36:24Speaker 3: how to do anything. It was my first play ever.
- 36:27Speaker 3: And my family makes fun of me because I made
- 36:31Speaker 3: the mistake of saying that I felt vulnerable about a
- 36:33Speaker 3: certain line. I didn't know how to say this, and
- 36:37Speaker 3: all I had to say.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Was a name.
- 36:39Speaker 3: I had to say the name Alonzo, and they were
- 36:41Speaker 3: like on their deathbed. I was like Alonzo and like,
- 36:45Speaker 3: I didn't know how to do it, and so they
- 36:48Speaker 3: make fun of me to this day alone.
- 36:52Speaker 1: So, oh my gosh, that's really that's the That's cute.
- 36:58Speaker 5: It kind of that kind of now we're getting on
- 37:00Speaker 5: a tangent, but it kind of reminds me of when
- 37:02Speaker 5: I was in my high school play.
- 37:04Speaker 1: One of my high school plays.
- 37:05Speaker 5: I was Maria in West Side Story, which probably shouldn't happened,
- 37:08Speaker 5: but there's a scene where Maria's on the balcony talking to.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Heck is his name the guy? Again? Yeah, I can
- 37:20Speaker 1: only think of Maria now, but yeah, yeah, what the
- 37:22Speaker 1: heck is his name?
- 37:25Speaker 5: And her parents are calling her like they don't know.
- 37:27Speaker 5: She's out there talking to a boy and my dad
- 37:32Speaker 5: played the guy and he had to say Maduca because
- 37:36Speaker 5: Maduca is like a nickname for Maria.
- 37:41Speaker 1: He still says this sometimes. He was backstage like shouting.
- 37:49Speaker 5: To the point that I was like, it was taking
- 37:50Speaker 5: me out of the scene. He was like, he would
- 37:55Speaker 5: like rehearse it, and it was.
- 37:57Speaker 1: It was ridiculous. I loved so much.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Yeah, it's by the way, Tony, thank you.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I had to look it up because I'm with you.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I was like, what is it? We all know it.
- 38:10Speaker 5: I was like I wanted to say anton and I
- 38:12Speaker 5: was like, that's.
- 38:13Speaker 6: Not right, alonso A, how dare they tell you how
- 38:21Speaker 6: to feel in that scene where your friend just passed away?
- 38:23Speaker 1: That's right? I didn't.
- 38:24Speaker 3: I didn't know, dude.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I still I've sucked at all those I hear you.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I hear you.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Anyway, Sammy, what's your hot take?
- 38:34Speaker 5: So I I enjoyed it. I love Anne Hathaway. She's
- 38:39Speaker 5: like she's kind of become like a comfort actress for me.
- 38:43Speaker 5: I just like, trust that I'm going to enjoy her acting.
- 38:47Speaker 1: It was very.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Nostalgic in my opinion, maybe a little bit unnecessary as
- 38:54Speaker 5: a whole, but sure fun. And I thought revisiting the characters,
- 38:59Speaker 5: like you guys have said, in the modern age.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Was interesting and you know, like you guys said, it
- 39:07Speaker 1: had some.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Interesting things to say about AI and the push away
- 39:15Speaker 5: from hard copies and like physical media to a digital streamable.
- 39:22Speaker 1: You know, media space. They were.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Oh, I really enjoyed like Miranda's arc, Miranda Priestley's arc, Like,
- 39:35Speaker 5: I'm glad we got to see because at the end
- 39:38Speaker 5: of the first movie she like has a little bit
- 39:41Speaker 5: of that like change of heart a little bit. But
- 39:45Speaker 5: it was nice to like explore how far they could
- 39:49Speaker 5: push that and still be like grounded in Randa Priestley's character.
- 39:54Speaker 1: There are a few things I didn't love.
- 40:00Speaker 5: I also, I was like, why do we need this romance?
- 40:05Speaker 5: And I felt like it progressed unrealistically fast, Like they
- 40:10Speaker 5: were in a fight so quick that to me, I
- 40:15Speaker 5: was like, if if you had really gotten into a
- 40:17Speaker 5: fight that quick, it would be like someone you didn't
- 40:20Speaker 5: reach out to again. Right, Yeah, So that was a
- 40:25Speaker 5: little bit like I thought he was a charming guy.
- 40:28Speaker 5: I thought like, yeah, they made sense maybe, but it
- 40:32Speaker 5: if it wasn't the point of the movie, Like if
- 40:34Speaker 5: it was a romance movie where that I would I
- 40:36Speaker 5: would be like okay, But I was like, why do.
- 40:39Speaker 1: We need this same?
- 40:41Speaker 3: So that's exactly I felt like some of the worst
- 40:43Speaker 3: writing was in there too, like when they were trying
- 40:45Speaker 3: to compare like the gutting of a building into kind
- 40:50Speaker 3: of like gutting journalism and they're.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Like, well, that's kind of like what I do.
- 40:54Speaker 3: And I was like, this is.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Just like on the nose, Like yeah, I enjoying that
- 40:59Speaker 1: scene and why they wanted it though, because.
- 41:01Speaker 4: She she is basically Miranda in that scene, so like
- 41:05Speaker 4: showing us that those two are closer together than they
- 41:09Speaker 4: either of them maybe want to admit, Like Miranda has
- 41:12Speaker 4: more heart than she wants to admit, and Anne Hathaway's
- 41:15Speaker 4: character has like that little bit more like bitchy attitude
- 41:19Speaker 4: than she maybe wants to admit. That's what I took
- 41:21Speaker 4: from it anyway, because when I wrote down specifically when
- 41:24Speaker 4: she says like this is just immensely helpful, thank you,
- 41:27Speaker 4: I was like, that's Miranda's line, Like that is Miranda
- 41:30Speaker 4: right there.
- 41:31Speaker 1: You know that's true. I don't know, but yeah, maybe
- 41:35Speaker 1: I hear you. Maybe, but still not done great. I mean,
- 41:38Speaker 1: if you guys didn't love it, what I get, I
- 41:41Speaker 1: don't think you're wrong at all.
- 41:43Speaker 5: I also didn't let like I'm It's kind of like
- 41:49Speaker 5: how in movies you kind of watch for if any
- 41:52Speaker 5: of the female characters speak to each other, and if
- 41:54Speaker 5: they don't talk about a man.
- 41:58Speaker 1: That didn't happen here.
- 41:59Speaker 5: But I found it interesting that her best friend, I mean,
- 42:03Speaker 5: it's the same best friend as the last movie, but
- 42:05Speaker 5: she's a black woman, and they never we don't learn
- 42:10Speaker 5: anything about her, not a thing about her. Her only
- 42:14Speaker 5: device is being the like supportive best friend who's like
- 42:18Speaker 5: grilling that boyfriend.
- 42:20Speaker 4: And like I was like a dealer, collector or whatever
- 42:24Speaker 4: the right thing is.
- 42:26Speaker 5: Yes, but we only find that out because it helps Andy.
- 42:31Speaker 1: It's in her career.
- 42:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I was just like ah. But other than that, like, honestly,
- 42:36Speaker 5: my problems with it were minimal compared to like, like
- 42:40Speaker 5: you said, the rewatch of the old one, and I
- 42:42Speaker 5: was like, oh this is this has had a lot
- 42:45Speaker 5: more problems that I remembered, But I thought it was fun.
- 42:50Speaker 5: I wouldn't like for me bugues. It wasn't like a
- 42:55Speaker 5: standalone great movie. It only exists.
- 42:58Speaker 1: As the sequel. I get that. I get that. That's
- 43:02Speaker 1: probably more right.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I'm just was happy it didn't suck a lot of
- 43:06Speaker 4: them so bad, you know what I mean, where you're
- 43:08Speaker 4: just like, why did you do this? I didn't feel
- 43:11Speaker 4: that way, So I was just kind of related.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Yeah, not it did. I I thought it. I thought
- 43:15Speaker 1: it was fun and nostalgic and yeah, side note, her
- 43:20Speaker 1: best friend was in the original Rents, right.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Tracy Thoms.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Yeah, she's really great. It is great. It's fun to
- 43:28Speaker 1: see her.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Those are the only things I've seen her is rent
- 43:30Speaker 4: and same in this movie, I feel like, but anyway.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah, probably more, but they probably, but I just.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Can't think of any right. I love it hot takes.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I love that. Well, let's talk about our favorite acting performance.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Shall we name the dude the dude?
- 43:48Speaker 7: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 43:51Speaker 7: know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
- 43:56Speaker 7: el dud reno if you're not into the whole brevity thing, Sammy,
- 44:00Speaker 7: who's your dude?
- 44:03Speaker 5: It's crazy with Meryl Street being in the cast, but
- 44:06Speaker 5: I loved in Hathaway in this like she's so good.
- 44:11Speaker 5: I really I thought she brought like a like you
- 44:14Speaker 5: could see how she was the same person as Andy Sacks,
- 44:17Speaker 5: but like is more grounded in herself, more confident. I
- 44:24Speaker 5: mean Emily even makes a comment.
- 44:26Speaker 1: On her being more confident.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Yeah, but she kept those eyebrows.
- 44:30Speaker 5: Did she kept those eyebrows? But you can it's it's
- 44:34Speaker 5: nice that we're seeing those comments, like are not they
- 44:37Speaker 5: don't affect her. She's like whatever, Like I'm good at
- 44:41Speaker 5: my job. I I like myself, like, and she's just
- 44:46Speaker 5: I've always loved Anne Hathaway. Like when in Heathy was
- 44:49Speaker 5: getting all that hate, I was like, I.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Don't get it, Like she's the same.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Same, Yeah, a ridiculous amount of hate.
- 44:56Speaker 4: She's always been at least pretty good and everything she's
- 44:58Speaker 4: been in if same right.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Well, it was never about people didn't like her.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I thought she was.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Too earnest, she cared too much, And I was like,
- 45:09Speaker 5: anyone who has ever gone to acting school ever knows
- 45:13Speaker 5: that that's how much everybody cares about this.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I thought.
- 45:17Speaker 1: It was weird. People should probably examine like it if
- 45:21Speaker 1: you don't like women that much what is society tell
- 45:23Speaker 1: you know, like it it feels very indicative of that
- 45:26Speaker 1: to me, which sucks, But yeah, I hear you. So
- 45:29Speaker 1: I never made sense to me either.
- 45:30Speaker 5: She just she just brings me so much joy and
- 45:33Speaker 5: I felt like she was so relaxed in this and
- 45:36Speaker 5: it was I just loved watching her.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Oh, if you're an Anne Hathaway fan, you're in luck.
- 45:42Speaker 1: This year she has five movies coming.
- 45:45Speaker 5: I know, I know, I really I need to go
- 45:49Speaker 5: see Mother Mary.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, I haven't seen it either. Yeah, she
- 45:56Speaker 1: was super great.
- 45:57Speaker 3: She was more confident. I did love that she kind
- 45:59Speaker 3: of went back into her insecure just like waiting to
- 46:04Speaker 3: see what Miranda had to say, Like I wanted to
- 46:07Speaker 3: be in her good graces, like I like that she
- 46:09Speaker 3: fell back into that and sometimes too. That was fun
- 46:12Speaker 3: to see. But yeah, I mean, Miranda Priestley is just
- 46:17Speaker 3: so iconic. I gotta take Meryl for my dude just
- 46:21Speaker 3: because Yeah, she's just that's such an amazing character and
- 46:26Speaker 3: she plays it so well. She's perfectly caske and if
- 46:30Speaker 3: Meryl's in it, she's probably getting the dude for me.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Also still a babe.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Like obviously her looks are not the only thing about her.
- 46:38Speaker 4: But she's so beautiful still, I can't believe it.
- 46:41Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 46:42Speaker 3: And now she's with Kenneth Brana Way to Go.
- 46:45Speaker 4: And he was so nice, nice, he was takes a
- 46:50Speaker 4: special guy.
- 46:50Speaker 1: To love like a woman who is like a badass, and.
- 46:54Speaker 3: He's so much more powerful than the Yeah, yeah, I
- 46:57Speaker 3: think I would be good at that.
- 46:59Speaker 1: So if anyone was.
- 47:00Speaker 3: You would be great at anyone.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Is the CEO.
- 47:02Speaker 4: Let me know, I'm a natural cheerleader, very good party
- 47:05Speaker 4: so I can talk to a wall, be very happy.
- 47:09Speaker 4: I don't need to be impressive at all. I've not
- 47:11Speaker 4: been for quite some time, so it's good.
- 47:16Speaker 1: But seriously, CEOs, give me a call. Please apply.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Two is your dude.
- 47:23Speaker 4: So I also picked Marril and honestly it was I
- 47:27Speaker 4: was really back and forth about it. I did get
- 47:29Speaker 4: to see this one a couple of times, which I
- 47:32Speaker 4: like to do for the new movies. When the shot
- 47:36Speaker 4: of her in that gem rainbow suit in the like
- 47:41Speaker 4: shopping palazzo, it's just the three sixty shot of her
- 47:46Speaker 4: just being like sort of introspective.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I'm just like, damn man, she is a movie star
- 47:52Speaker 1: and I.
- 47:52Speaker 4: Love it so much, so that was honestly, that was
- 47:55Speaker 4: the part that I was just like, you know what,
- 47:56Speaker 4: She's the dude.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I'm just going with a.
- 48:00Speaker 4: I just love her so much, and that I don't
- 48:04Speaker 4: know what it was about that shot that like jacket
- 48:08Speaker 4: is such equal parts like ridiculous but also so beautiful
- 48:11Speaker 4: that because they're like gemstones are it almost looks like
- 48:15Speaker 4: Christmas lights, you know, in the gaudy version, but I
- 48:17Speaker 4: think hers are like gems and it's just so great.
- 48:21Speaker 1: And I just thought that shot was awesome. So I
- 48:23Speaker 1: picked Marriol. She's the best.
- 48:25Speaker 3: She's the best.
- 48:26Speaker 1: I forgot about that shot.
- 48:27Speaker 5: That was a gorgeous shot, and I remember having a
- 48:30Speaker 5: moment thinking like this is beautiful and not just because
- 48:36Speaker 5: of the shot, like she's giving and I also you
- 48:39Speaker 5: said something that makes me want to mention something I am.
- 48:46Speaker 5: It's terrible with my memory, and like I feel like
- 48:51Speaker 5: a lot of these things, a lot of these like
- 48:53Speaker 5: categories that we're going to run into. I've only seen
- 48:57Speaker 5: it the one time and obviously couldn't so I'm running
- 49:02Speaker 5: off of my very very terrible.
- 49:04Speaker 4: Right off the doom, You're a nice part about going
- 49:07Speaker 4: the second time, as I went to like an early
- 49:09Speaker 4: showing and I was in the very back row and
- 49:12Speaker 4: I set up I set up my little wall of
- 49:14Speaker 4: my jacket so I could have it on the lowest
- 49:17Speaker 4: setting and take some notes. So like that always feels good.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I always go to the movies when the kids are
- 49:24Speaker 3: at school in the middle of so it's me and
- 49:26Speaker 3: like four very old people just go to the way
- 49:29Speaker 3: back and.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Just it works out great. It's the only time I'm
- 49:33Speaker 1: okay with people having their phone out during a movie.
- 49:35Speaker 1: And I know that makes me a salot, but here
- 49:38Speaker 1: I am.
- 49:38Speaker 4: You're a sale and hypocrite, probably because it's only because
- 49:42Speaker 4: I want to do it, but you know, yeah, at
- 49:43Speaker 4: least we set up a blockade these people in the
- 49:46Speaker 4: front row that do it.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Come on, guys, what are we doing in your mind?
- 49:49Speaker 1: Brightness all the way?
- 49:50Speaker 3: Oh my god, it tells me get out of here,
- 49:53Speaker 3: crazy an So should.
- 49:58Speaker 1: We talk about everybody else? Though? The name of Sammy?
- 50:04Speaker 1: Who's your tucci for this way?
- 50:07Speaker 2: Well?
- 50:08Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, I'm so you don't have to pick.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I'm I feel like so random.
- 50:13Speaker 5: But I I loved Justin.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Throw in this so goofy.
- 50:19Speaker 3: He's such a goofboss.
- 50:21Speaker 5: Such and I think that's why. I think that's why,
- 50:26Speaker 5: like Anne hathaway Is and Hathaway Uh. I picked in
- 50:29Speaker 5: Hathaway because only someone in the main cast could have
- 50:34Speaker 5: been the dude. But everybody kind of like, I mean,
- 50:40Speaker 5: they did their job. They showed up and played the
- 50:42Speaker 5: same person twenty years later, like definitely, but the like
- 50:48Speaker 5: added characters were like a little bit more exciting, So
- 50:51Speaker 5: maybe I like tuned into them a little bit more sure,
- 50:55Speaker 5: But I thought Justin Throw was like so dumb and
- 50:58Speaker 5: so funny, so.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Dumb and great and plays the billionaire caricature so well believable.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that hair was so ridiculous.
- 51:10Speaker 5: You have some kind of prosthetics or something because it.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Took My guess is that he had a full on,
- 51:17Speaker 3: like bald cap and then they like made that hairstyle
- 51:21Speaker 3: because it kind of made his like hand shape weird.
- 51:25Speaker 1: I agree. Something that's my guess is what something was happening?
- 51:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because it was funny.
- 51:31Speaker 5: I didn't know going in that Justin Throw was in it.
- 51:36Speaker 5: So I'm like, I'm like forty five minutes into the
- 51:39Speaker 5: movie and I'm.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Like, is, yeah, wait, a second guy looks like Justin
- 51:45Speaker 4: Throw kind of.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I love it. He was so funny. Yeah, it's a
- 51:50Speaker 1: good one. I had a couple of funny lines.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Well, I would pick the tuc the Tucci himself doesn't
- 51:59Speaker 3: get much easier than picked the Taches the tuch Hell yeah,
- 52:02Speaker 3: but he's perfect for that role. And after seeing his
- 52:05Speaker 3: social media stuff like him like making pasta, it's not
- 52:10Speaker 3: a big stretch him playing this role. He really kind
- 52:14Speaker 3: of seems like he is Nigel, you know so. But
- 52:19Speaker 3: I just love his like relationship with Andy, I love
- 52:24Speaker 3: his relationship with Miranda.
- 52:27Speaker 1: He's just so much fun to watch. Yeah.
- 52:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like they gave him slightly more to
- 52:33Speaker 4: do this round as well, which was fun. He definitely
- 52:36Speaker 4: has his points in the other one, obviously, but this
- 52:38Speaker 4: one was.
- 52:38Speaker 3: It was a good time and I loved that it
- 52:41Speaker 3: all came back like you just thought he got those
- 52:43Speaker 3: texts like yeah it was me.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Honey, like he was.
- 52:49Speaker 3: That was such a great reveal. I did not see
- 52:51Speaker 3: that coming, and they really enjoyed that.
- 52:54Speaker 1: I liked it a lot. Yeah, I liked it.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Yeah, parts of the movie as far as the New People, though.
- 53:03Speaker 3: If I'm allowed to pick a new.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Person too, I insist it would have been Caleb hearing
- 53:09Speaker 1: as Charlie, the assistant of this guy.
- 53:12Speaker 4: He's one one of my favorite guys around right now.
- 53:14Speaker 4: I love him so.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Much his standing. Did you end up watching his stand
- 53:17Speaker 1: up special? Yeah? Absolutely? Oh dude, he's so funny.
- 53:21Speaker 3: He's so funny, I will say, and it's not his fault,
- 53:26Speaker 3: but he just was like an exposition like machine. Absolutely
- 53:29Speaker 3: at one point when he's like looking at the poster
- 53:32Speaker 3: of Lucy Lou and then he just says her whole life.
- 53:36Speaker 4: Oh, she obviously hasn't done anything and since the divorce, right, yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 4: no one's been able to get anything on her.
- 53:43Speaker 1: I would love it.
- 53:44Speaker 3: And I was just like, oh, this writing is so
- 53:48Speaker 3: clunky right now, why are they doing this to him?
- 53:50Speaker 3: But he still was great and yeah.
- 53:54Speaker 1: So wonderful.
- 53:55Speaker 5: I love I love him so much. I'm like caught
- 53:58Speaker 5: up on his podcast. I love I love him.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I need to listen to that. Yeah. Oh he's so great.
- 54:04Speaker 5: But he I knew he was going to be in this,
- 54:08Speaker 5: and I know how funny he is, so I was
- 54:10Speaker 5: like expecting them to give him a.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Little bit more like comedy. But I love him so
- 54:17Speaker 1: hard for him, Yeah.
- 54:20Speaker 4: But he was like his agent might have even been like,
- 54:23Speaker 4: it's not a very like meaty part.
- 54:25Speaker 1: And he was like, dude, I want to be in
- 54:27Speaker 1: Devil was Product too.
- 54:28Speaker 3: What are we talking about?
- 54:30Speaker 1: This is great? Yeah? Yeah, hopefully we see more stuff
- 54:32Speaker 1: with him in it. God, I hope. So he's so good.
- 54:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but anyway, bus, what was what was your teach?
- 54:40Speaker 1: So?
- 54:40Speaker 4: Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt obviously are amazing.
- 54:43Speaker 1: The Tucci Damned Award is made for him obviously, so like,
- 54:48Speaker 1: that's that's wonderful too. I love just all these ladies
- 54:52Speaker 1: are so fun and so funny. I love that they
- 54:56Speaker 1: expanded on their characters. Emily's character was expanded upon, which
- 55:01Speaker 1: was kind of fun. She had for depth.
- 55:03Speaker 4: I really liked that, but also still was vapid at points,
- 55:07Speaker 4: like it wasn't like she completely changed, which I also
- 55:10Speaker 4: kind of appreciated.
- 55:11Speaker 1: I thought that was fun.
- 55:12Speaker 3: What I love about that is that it is a
- 55:14Speaker 3: very unlikable character, but she makes her likable somehow, and
- 55:18Speaker 3: I always find that.
- 55:20Speaker 4: When she betrayed her, I was like, ah, you scamp,
- 55:22Speaker 4: you know, just.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Like you Mary Dowell. That's fun.
- 55:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I really like that. If I'm going to
- 55:32Speaker 4: pick a newbie other than Caleb, I really liked Simone
- 55:35Speaker 4: Ashley as Amari.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I thought she was really fun in this didn't get
- 55:40Speaker 1: to do a ton, but I just.
- 55:43Speaker 3: Thought, so she was the one who was like policing
- 55:45Speaker 3: Miranda and all of the meetings.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Was that her?
- 55:48Speaker 4: Yeah, No, she was new Emily, so she was the
- 55:52Speaker 4: like lead assistant that then gets promoted at the end.
- 55:57Speaker 1: So remember, well, yeah, but.
- 55:58Speaker 3: She in all the meetings. She's like, no, you can't
- 56:00Speaker 3: say that.
- 56:01Speaker 4: That's yeah, you're right, it's right. Yes, I was thinking
- 56:04Speaker 4: that was a different HR lady, But you're right, that
- 56:06Speaker 4: is her. And that part was so funny, like all
- 56:08Speaker 4: that stuff, Like I loved all that their body negative,
- 56:12Speaker 4: body negative.
- 56:13Speaker 1: I think it's just like, no, you're so close. Yeah.
- 56:17Speaker 4: I just thought she was really fun and kind of
- 56:20Speaker 4: pulled off a little bit of what Emily Blunt pulled
- 56:23Speaker 4: off with like not a super likable character, but you
- 56:26Speaker 4: are kind of rooting for her at the same time,
- 56:28Speaker 4: like she's not as nasty or we don't see it
- 56:31Speaker 4: as much that she's as nasty. But I just really
- 56:34Speaker 4: liked her. I thought she was really fun. I enjoyed
- 56:37Speaker 4: her a lot. And then Kat obviously was one of
- 56:40Speaker 4: the best performances of of anyone in any movie ever.
- 56:44Speaker 4: Robert Grease, Carl Anthony Towns.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Yea, so I was like, where what are we talking about? Yes,
- 56:51Speaker 3: Karl Anthony Towns. I agree.
- 56:53Speaker 1: I thought I froze or something.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I got scarned. That was just that was just my
- 56:57Speaker 3: wheels turning extra slow to figure out.
- 57:02Speaker 4: Also fun to see Lucy lou she yeah, was also
- 57:06Speaker 4: kind of just exposition ing, like we didn't get.
- 57:08Speaker 1: A lot of them for her to do, but it's fun.
- 57:10Speaker 1: She's great. Yep.
- 57:11Speaker 3: M bj Novak, he he played.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Kind of a I was surprised by.
- 57:19Speaker 5: Yes, he was my god. I loved all of his outfits.
- 57:24Speaker 5: They were so heinous and he's like the best. I mean,
- 57:27Speaker 5: they were not heinous, They're just like work out Luke
- 57:30Speaker 5: here selfitz, but.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Just calling them out.
- 57:36Speaker 5: I love Luke, but he wouldn't run a fashion magazine,
- 57:40Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. That's what was funny about it.
- 57:43Speaker 3: Maybe Golfers Digest or something.
- 57:47Speaker 1: Yes, he would be incredible at that. Actually, yeah, did
- 57:52Speaker 1: you guys spot Pauline Chalomey And this, by the way,
- 57:56Speaker 1: talk about so Chala Ma sister who's in the sex
- 58:00Speaker 1: Lives of college Girls, I think is the biggest thing
- 58:02Speaker 1: I've seen her in. Okay, I thought you were gonna
- 58:05Speaker 1: act like you didn't know what it was.
- 58:06Speaker 4: I've never seen it, obviously, I've heard, I've heard, I've
- 58:09Speaker 4: heard of that. I definitely haven't seen every single episode
- 58:12Speaker 4: and loved it a lot. No, and she's funny in
- 58:16Speaker 4: that she's really good, but she was just at the table,
- 58:19Speaker 4: like in the meeting rooms with Miranda and all them.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, for like two scenes.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Very small part. That's funny. I didn't know. I guess
- 58:26Speaker 1: you were just in New York and someone was like,
- 58:29Speaker 1: come on through, take my mind, it'll be great. I
- 58:33Speaker 1: didn't know Lamy had a sister and yeah, and honestly,
- 58:37Speaker 1: once you see once you know that because I didn't
- 58:40Speaker 1: know that for the first part of that show, and
- 58:42Speaker 1: then I was like, oh, it just looks like Shalla
- 58:45Speaker 1: May has a lady. This is crazy. Wow, it's wild.
- 58:49Speaker 4: But yeah, she's really funny in that show. She didn't
- 58:52Speaker 4: do hardly anything in this movie, but it was fun
- 58:54Speaker 4: to spot her.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Shout out to Patrick brammle as Peter.
- 58:58Speaker 1: Again.
- 58:59Speaker 3: I didn't care for the romantic part, but he was lovely.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Yea and I would totally see him again. He was
- 59:06Speaker 3: very charming. I thought he did a really good job,
- 59:10Speaker 3: even though I didn't care for that plotline.
- 59:14Speaker 4: I did sort of like the the like feminist ideal
- 59:17Speaker 4: that all these guys were just cool with their ladies
- 59:19Speaker 4: being powerful badasses.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought that was fun.
- 59:22Speaker 4: That was a nice that was a nice thing, and
- 59:25Speaker 4: he did a good job. But I just didn't have
- 59:27Speaker 4: a lot to do.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Like Branna, they got an extremely like overqualified guy delight man.
- 59:36Speaker 3: I mean he did almost nothing in this Like I
- 59:39Speaker 3: was shocked that they got to.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Be on set in the Hampton's and hang out. So
- 59:44Speaker 4: it's not like the worst gig ever, or to the
- 59:47Speaker 4: met Gala kind of I don't was it actually the
- 59:51Speaker 4: met Gala. It was just some party like that, right, basically.
- 59:54Speaker 1: It was emulating Metala Megala. I don't know how to
- 59:58Speaker 1: say it, yeah, because it wasn't it An.
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: Also, the two her her daughters are in this movie again,
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: and it was so funny because the first time I
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: watched it at that met gal and then at the
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Hampton's party, I was like, who are these older redheaded gals?
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: And then it dawned on me that of course they
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: are the actors who played the daughters, which I thought
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: was just fun.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I just like that they got them involved again.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: I didn't notice that.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Colleen and Susanne dangle.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Incredible the twins, that's awesome.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: I didn't notice that.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: Well, they obviously look very different, right because they were
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: just little kids in that.
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: But I just thought the years later it is fun.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: I was like, what it was one of those things
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: you know in movies where they like they'll be panning
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: through a crowd and they'll just kind of linger on
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: some folks and you're like, I feel like I'm supposed
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: to know them, what's happening? And that was that with them,
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: and I was like, oh, they're redheads. Of course it's
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: probably her daughters.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Like I was still thinking about the cat take. I
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: couldn't I could nice to me.
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: Yeah, No, that scene the dinner party, I was so like,
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: I don't even know any lines that were said because
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: I was so like trying to cross faces.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Yeah, John, I was also, I was, Yeah, John Batiste
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: was in it. I was also super stressed in that
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: scene about her getting something on that dress. They made
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: it such a big deal about then it wasn't a
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: big deal.
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: At all.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: All it did was get her in the kitchen so
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: she could have her moment with Miranda.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: That was I was pretty disappointed by that, if I'm
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: going to be honest, because I was like, what's going
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: to happen with this dress?
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Oh no, he's going to kill her something.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, I agree.
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: I'm glad you brought that up because I remember thinking like.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Oh my god, she got something on the dress.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: And then yes, there should have been payoff, like there
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: should have been something.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: No, really weird. Yeah, don't worry about it. Just put
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: a little water one there, she said, soap on it,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: little hand soap. Yeah, yeah, for the grease factor.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: Very useful tool if you guys ever need to get
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: something out. But yeah, I almost just said I stained
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: a lot of clothes that I don't like that.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: I wish I wouldn't thought, Yeah, I wish she wouldn't
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: have be there. But we're here now, we are, well there
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: it did.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I don't have to make that the clip. Oh no,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: I did the opposite of what I wanted.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: He dirt it boopy sticks another person just because I
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: recognize them. Her name is Rachel Bloom. She played the
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: her like friend who's an agent or publisher or.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Talia.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and she was fun.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: Oh she was the book gal, the one was like
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: I have the yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: She was good.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: She says three and.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Fifty k boom.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I mean, you gotta get an inn with you writing
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: about Anna Winter, right, I feel like we could write
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: about Houm free.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: That's got to be at least quadruple that, given there
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: so many of you. I think this works, doesn't doesn't think?
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: So okay.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: She had a line that said, uh, what was it
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: like Stockholm called they want their back?
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I was just like, okay, but she was fun. I
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: thank yous writing great writing, love it.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: That's about it, and a ton of cameos. Lady Gaga
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: was fun that she that was fun, that she was
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: the musical person that.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: She had beef with and fun trivia about that Merrill
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: called her personally and asked her to do that part
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: which I.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Love now Miranda of her and.
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: There's a clip of I think it's Emily Blunt if
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: I'm remembering right finding that out during their like press tour.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I mean, like what you just called her and asked
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: her to be in it, and she was just like,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you're the best just like hear the ship. I love you.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: It's incredible. That was fun. It's fun.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: Why don't we keep this thing going. Let's talk about
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: our favorite scene, and let's choose.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: The Dingusih, So this is quite simple, really dingus dingus.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I could talk about my dingus all night long. Sammy,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: what's your favorite favorite scene?
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: Okay, So this is again another instance where I'm like
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: I needed I need to rewatch to like really know
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: because I wasn't watching with an analytical mind really, but
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: I really like the scene where she like re meets
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: Miranda and she's like so excited and she's like so fun.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: That whole dynamic was like very funny and like so
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: nostalgic from the first movie. And then I also loved
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: the scene at the end between Emily and Andy having lunch.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Loved that too, loved it. That was my runner up scene.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I love in the first one you said when
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: she's like, oh god, you didn't know that's why I
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: came in here, Like, yeah, that was she spin it
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: out at that point.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: It was so great. Yeah, those are both great picks
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: that I had, And.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: Then called the Girl who went to Cornell Cornell somewhere Cornell,
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: I have.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: The right in front of Andy, like congratulations first to
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: go to college and her family. I believe horrible. That
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: is good, very good scene.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: The one that I chose was Miranda giving Nigel the
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: speech to him until I had done any of this
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: without him and finally getting some credit. Yeah.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I loved all that. That was beautiful. Have I overlooked
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: you and I was just like, oh my god, sorry,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: little we'll preview. I just oh, that's that's down for
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: shoot my hand. I love all those scenes. You guys
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: have picked great ones.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: I think I would pick the Nigel scene honestly because
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: I love it's sort of the culmination of like Andy
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: being in a spot where she can be like, dude,
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: not only did we accomplish this thing, but like you
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: have blind spots too, you know, and like in a loving,
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: inclusive way, not you know, she called.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Her in rather than out.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: It is a thing that I like for an aphorism,
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: but I love that so much. And then her talking
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: to Nigel and just like it just felt very lovely.
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: That whole thing was like a culmination. And I love
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: the one you said to Sammy of the two of them.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Together at the end.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: It's just so lovely, like I called you and you
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: want to be friends, Like, yeah, so cute and lovely.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I just I think that's the best. Yeah, I
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: don't know. I loved it. And I also love to the.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: First meeting with Miranda, the first like board meeting or
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: like the creative team, when she's like, so you you
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: were you were in attendance when these pictures were taken?
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: Did you want them to look like zombies.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Walking around or whatever? And he's like, well, I wouldn't
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: say that was the goal. But and she's just so
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: mean to everyone, but is getting like the HR notes
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: and all that stuff. I think that's so fun. Yeah,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: I did my runner up.
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: Runner runner up was just all of the meetings because
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: of that actress who's having to like police her.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and you can't say that just like those yeah,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: so so great, so great. So yeah, I don't know
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: which one to pick though, Does anyone else have runners up?
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: I feel like we all said the I feel like
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: explained to Andy and then yeah, Nigel, I think we
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: can do.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I love the duel that includes all the main players too.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: That's great.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: I love that done.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: N Should we go talk about some of our favorite quotes.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: This is the time show me the show got for quotes.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Also a hard one for a new movie, very I
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: have four. Oh that's great, Sam.
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: The first one I think is in one of those meetings, Uh,
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: Miranda made my suicide be brief and painless.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Ye I laughed probably too hard at that line. It
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: cracked me up so hard.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: It's like, no, no, no, and she's like, what do
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: you mean. No, no, I'm not talking about killing other
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: people yet yet.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: So good. That's such a good call.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: And then this next one is it's both a Mari
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: and Charlie.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Is that his name?
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: Caleb parents character? Yes, I need to plea, plea I need.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: He says.
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: He says, I need to pee please. I had an
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: empty and she goes, oh, was it worth it?
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: And they say no together. Yeah's cute. She doesn't let
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: him go, which is well, figure it out.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: And then when they're in I don't know where they're going,
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: but they're in the cab. I think it's the very
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: first day and she and Miranda says, you should get
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: that looked at, and she says yes. She's like the
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: injury or condition or whatever that causes you to trudge.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: To trudge that's so.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: She's so The way she delivers insults sometimes has you
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: being like wait what, Like she she like elongates it
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: and makes you wait for the insult.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: It's so good you almost have to like think twice
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: about what she actually said.
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: Yes, and then at the very very end, it's not
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: even the line. I think it's just the way that
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: she delivered it, because it got me choked up. Is
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: Andy to Emily at the very end, when Emily had
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: said like something about well, you know, me and the
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: guy broke up, so now what and Andy says you
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: are iconic? And it wasn't The line is like simple,
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: but it was the way she delivered it, like was very.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Sweet response to that too, which is like, well that
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: is a lovely compliment.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Yeah, she doesn't do her like snide response by ack,
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: she actually just thinks that's it, which is lovely too.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I loved that line too.
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's all I could like, remember, Hey, that's
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: all good.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: I had quite a few from Emily Blunt at that
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: same meeting, the don't carb shame me? Don't you know
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: that shared carbs have no calories?
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I enjoyed that. I love to Andy was like these
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: clearly aren't ours when they sent them down. Yeah, these
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: can't yurds.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: I already said that kept those eyebrows though, didn't you.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: I liked that.
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: Oh, when Andy's kind of freaking out with Emily, She's like,
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: just hide a feeling for once, please, Like, I should
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: put that before.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: The boohoo's in this movie if I can find it
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: might be to.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: Note to me in the future when you're in an
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: ant Sorry I signed you up for this, but trying
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: to find that.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Thanks so much.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Good luck, good luck future you.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I didn't emotion once, please. I really love that.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: She also had the mantra made the bridges I burn
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: light my way.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so cute.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: She talks to her kiddo and that, and she's like
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: a lovely mother and then also like is totally giving
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: her advice that.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: She follows because she knows to take the deep breath,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: don't forget the tappy tappies, don't forget the.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and one more from oh, justin Throw's character, I'm
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: pretty sure they were talking about Kendall Jenner and they
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: kept saying Kendall and he's like, I can't believe there's
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: someone named Candle.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: Yeah, he was so goofy in this movie. All right.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Really caught me off guard and made me laugh hard.
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: He also had the great one we're at the dinner
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: to he's doing his like billionaire thing where they just
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: think every idea they have is amazing, right because they
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: have so much money, and he's.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Like, I want to explore the sun.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: We've been looking at it for a year, you know,
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: like all these things, and he's like, I'm gonna call
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: it Icarus. And then Emily Blunt they're at the dinner
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: party and she's like, we fly to the until fly
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: to the sun, and he fried I think, and then
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: he just goes, you're missing the point and she's like, no,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I'm not. You are, like it's so funny. I love
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: that line. That was so good. Yeah, did you have
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: more rob? Sorry?
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: I The whole eyebrows thing was killing me obviously. H
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: One of the first lines in the movie is look
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: what TJ.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Max brought in? And I just thought that vintage devil.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: It was really really fun.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: I also loved when Nigel and Emily Blunt are like
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: negotiating at the beginning when they go to what company are.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: They dere or something?
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: Yeah, They're like negotiating, She's like six pages and then
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: he goes four and then she just immediately like, I'm.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Sorry, we had a fish market, Nigel. Yeah. Five. It
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: was just so good. I loved the whole line. It
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: was great.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Also loved Andy with the callback to the first movie.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: She's talking talking to Caleb and she's like, when you
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: go to her house, no matter what anyone tells you,
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: don't go upstairs.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Ever, She's like, who would be stupid enough to do that?
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: That's great? Oh?
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: No, one, I love a callback. I have a callback.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: I love a callback. Oh just this line is too
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: good not to say. But and the models were encouraged
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: to stumble around like zombies outside a method none clinic?
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: What am I not allowed to say? Methodone? She gets
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: the m from the HR lady? Can I not say methodone?
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: I just thought that was great. Uh, Emily Blunt.
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: When Andy goes to see Emily to write the piece
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: on it that they agreed to the five pages or whatever,
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: and she's talking to the decorator guy inside your at
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: first and she's like, is that the sample I sent you?
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: Tulip whisper? Ken, this is not a whisper?
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: Does a cry for help? Yeah, I love that so much.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: That was great line.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: And then later she's like, they're talking about the bags
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: and how they've convinced people to buy three thousand dollars
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: bags and she's like and he's like, but is it good?
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: And she's like, I don't know.
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Is it a bad thing to bring beauty and design
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: to anyone? And then Andy goes anyone who has three
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: thousand dollars and she's like, hello.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of Christmas? Yeah? That was good.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: That was just really I like that really silly and great.
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: I know you guys don't love the aussy guy. But
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: when he came to the party with her and was like,
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: is that Hugh Jackman?
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: I can't say hi? Yes, And she's like do you
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: know him?
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: He's like, well no, but if it's Australians don't say
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: hello when they're out of the country together, it's a
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: whole thing.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that was so cute.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: How's my good day?
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: How's that was funny?
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: I liked him.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: I just didn't care being a silly billy for sure.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Of course.
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: I also loved we talked about the when she's talking
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: to her daughter, but the line is just so cute
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: because it's so English.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: But she's like, oh, bunny, what do we what do
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: we do when we get a bit wobbly, She's like,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: we breathe and don't forget the tappy. Tappy was so
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: very endearing. I bet she's a great mom in real life.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: She seems like she would be. Yeah.
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: I also liked the when they are talking about justin
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: Throw's various hairs that he has all over his body
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: and she talks about like his ear hair and she got.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: On a thing and then the rest. He's like, can
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: you imagine a lot more on my chest? And then
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: she goes, I just like him like a bar of soap.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: That's right, just hairless. That was just a silly line
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: and it was just just wonderful. Yeah. I think that
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: was all the ones I had.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: Oh No, when he says he's trying to operate at
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: a water deficit, I was like, that is so funny.
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: When Throw says that, so he gets offered when they're
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: at coma, yes, it's like, oh no, none for me, thanks,
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: I'm off water. I'm trying to operate it at a
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: water deficit.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: I was like, oh boy, so funny that that was great,
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: so accurate. Yeah, so accurate, jeepers a.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: Lot of good ones. Well let's uh, let's go to
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: busboo moments.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: For once, please please A feeling A feeling?
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I wrote three. My guess there's more, but these
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: are the three that I wrote down.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Intriguing. When Miranda tells Andy that she knew she was
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: going to end up doing something great. Yeah, that was
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: a lovely little moment.
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: Even though we were all worried about what was going
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: to happen to that dress.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: I still think she didn't care about the dress. She
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: didn't know, I guess to be fair.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: Yea, when Miranda asked Nigel if she's taken him for
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: granted and said that there's always been you.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: My God, have I taken you for granted?
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: Meryl Strap is just like I can act anything you
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: need to act and it'll be wonderful.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: So here you go.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: And then another kind of runner up scene for me,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: I was just gonna wait to bring it up here
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: was just when Miranda tells Andy to put everything in
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: the book and that there is a cost to being
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: her yes and working as hard as she has.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Yes. That got that was really powerful.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that, and I guess now I'm going
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: to add a fourth and it's going to be the
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: Andy and Emily scene. I can't believe I didn't put
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: that down when they Emily wanted to be friends with Andy?
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Please?
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: I mean, yes, for sure, And I specifically wrote down
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: the line you said earlier, Sammy, the you are iconic. Yeah,
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: that is a lovely compliment. I just thought that whole
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: reconciliation made me, made me cry.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: They were expecting real good. It was lovely. So yeah, four.
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: Do you think there's any more, Sammy? I mean, I'm
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: sure there are, But can you think of instances that
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: I missed?
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: I honestly like, I can't.
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: I'm trying to think of like if there's a moment
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: where she's like succeeding or something that you could have
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: had a happy cry, But I can't even I can't
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: even think of it like a specific moment.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I think the relationship.
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: Three more, oh one of them is impossible to get
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: because I'm a psycho.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: Oh the opening music, it's the use of the theme again.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: It made me cry and I was like, you really,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: you really need to examine this, dude, something's wrong, Like
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: this is You're insane.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: But I loved the nostalgia, nostalgia tears.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: I just loved the theme. Yeah, it was great. Borderline
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: hype tears. I don't know. And then the other two
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: the one the one might just be dad stuff, but
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: when IRV dies at the party, it's not like a
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: particular storing moment. But you know, an old guy dying,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: that makes me sad, you know, got me?
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: There's another just part of that. They were building it
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: up so much like he's going to announce the thing
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: and you're just like going to grew up. Yeah, well,
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: it was just like we were just waiting for what
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: is going to happen?
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Why isn't this going to be announced? I did kind
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: of think he was just going to go a different
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: way again, not say but.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Yeah, they did throw that curve in there, but I
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: was waiting.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: For something then, right, So it didn't affect me as much.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: It probably didn't affect anyone as much. Uh. And then
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: we talked about you guys are going to think this
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: is silly, but it is the when they have the fight.
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: I get that the relationship wasn't very fleshed out right
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: her in the Sea Feller, but it was specifically because
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: of what I said earlier. Like when she says it's
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: such a spectacularly helpful conversation.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Thank you. She is so Miranda in that part, and
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: that broke my heart a little bit seeing like, oh no,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: like and it's not necessarily a bad thing, but just
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: that's such a bad thing to say to anyone you
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: even remotely care about, Like it's just a bummer, Like
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: it's better to just feel like I only want to
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: think about me in this moment and be sad, Like
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: that's better than just dismissing someone like that. So that
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: made me sad. Yeah, yeah, but that was it. Just
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: however many that was seven or eight, I don't know yourself.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Let's go to movie trivia. Though there was surprisingly quite
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: a few things here, so let's see.
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: Let's get into it here. The costumes from this movie
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: I thought was fun. They will be auctioned off to
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists, a nonprofit organization that
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: promotes press freedom internationally.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Something that's really cool. That's a really neat thing that
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: they're doing.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: I like that, not that dress that's stained, but they'll
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: sell everything else. The reason, the reason that the sequel
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: took twenty years was that Meryl Street prefers not to
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: do any sequels to her own work. Her only other sequel,
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Mama Mia Here We Go Again, was released ten years
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: after the original of that, and she only agreed if
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: her role was reduced. It reportedly took many years of
- 1:22:12Speaker 4: negotiation and salary offers before Streep would commit to Prada too,
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: and in the intervening years, she and Hathaway and Emily
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: Blunt have all been quoted as saying the sequel was
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: unlikely to happen, So everyone was kind of surprised.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I know I was.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: It just felt like such a good ending.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: But I'm glad they did it me too, And I
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: will say that I think there is like some magic
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: that happened around this time too, because I'm sure everyone
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: knows this story, but in case you don't. Stanley Tucci
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: is married to Felicity Blunt, the sister of Emily Blunt,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: and they first met at the premiere of The Devil's
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Product And I did not know that.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: I didn't know that part.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: And it's so beautiful.
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: I love that that should be its own movie, honestly,
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: but yes, it was delightful. So yeah, I was glad
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: they got back to there to do it. Obviously, Let's see.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: We know that this was based off, at least in
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: some part to Anna Winter or wind Tour, but while
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: preparing to return as Miranda Priestley, Streep reflected on the
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: real life influence of Anna win Tour in terms of
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: Miranda and coming back to that character twenty years later.
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: I did honestly think about Anna and try to manage
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: and what it was like to carry her responsibility and
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: to be as interested in the world and curious as
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: she must have been.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: Yeah that she eventually Winter called Streep.
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: And asked, is this movie going to be good? When
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: she heard the sequel was coming out, and she was
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: like one Smerill told me it was going to be good.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: I was okay, So I was scared.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Wow, was very sweet.
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: Let's see. Donnatella Versace was mentioned in the first movie,
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: but makes a cameo on this one. She is seen
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: sharing bread this with Emily, who finds her very annoying.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: And I didn't remember this, but this is a reference
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: to her mentioned in the first movie when Miranda told
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: Andy that no one wants to sit next to Donatello,
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: and I thought that was funny. That's a fun little
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: tie in there. I love yeah, really fun.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Let's see. Although Lauren Weisberger had written a sequel to
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: the novel, a sequel novel called Revenge, Where's Prada the
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Devil Returns, this movie sequel mostly ignores it, as the
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: book only featured Miranda Priestley in a small role. So
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: that's interesting. I kind of forgot that this was an adaptation,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: if I'm honest, Like, I just think about that. But interesting.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: I'm going to interrupt you because he said something that
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: I'm in two book clubs and one of them.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Chose to read this, well the first book for this month.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: I'm like, I have no interest in reading it, so
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: I was like, I'll just come for the vibes of
- 1:25:05Speaker 5: the book club.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: But I thought I thought it was funny that I'm
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: also read or was supposed to read it. Did they
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: like it? Have you met yet?
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: No? We meet next week, but I we we are
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: like chatting all the time, and everyone keets it.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I was going to say, it doesn't seem like it
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: would translate to a book super well to me. I
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: don't know why I think that, but I don't know. Yeah, it's.
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: I think the movie script was way better than the
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: book and like everyone's saying, like, I don't even know
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: how they read this book and thought to create a
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: movie from it.
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: It's seriously and probably it's harder to like make a
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: still root for these people who kind of suck in
- 1:25:53Speaker 4: a book.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: I feel, yeah, maybe not, but yeah, that's interesting. Huh.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: I'm super excited to hear what they think about it
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: when they get to the end. That's great. Uh.
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: Shortly before this movie came out, it was revealed that
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: Meryl Streep and Anna Winter were uh, were sixth cousins
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: in real life, and they didn't know that before this, and.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: They didn't know that they were sixth cousins.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Yeah, which is strange. But and Merrill said, well that
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: explains everything, which I think is so cute. But yeah,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: it'sn't that weird. They're really that's super weird.
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: In order to focus on this movie, and Hathaway had
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: to postpone development on The Princess Diaries three.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: And Hathaway has called revisiting these characters from early in
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: her career her own heras tour.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: So I thought that was kind of fun. Also, I
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: didn't know Princess Diaries three was the thing you just
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: very off fly to la, we'll watch that together. It
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: sounds okay, let's do it. I love that movie. I
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: have to watch the first two, dude, the first is great.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Never have seen those? Yeah, actually kids might be at
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: an age where they'd really like that. Yeah, it would
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: be my guest. It's a good call. I'm excited for you.
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: There's a there's a scene in that first movie that
- 1:27:11Speaker 5: it's probably one of those like just you had to
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: be there moments. Plus I was a child, but uh,
- 1:27:19Speaker 5: that makes me like cry laughing to this day.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: I want that is but I don't want to spoil
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: it for up. I don't spoil it.
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: It's something, it's something no one would ever find that funny.
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: It's it's the choir when they're singing Ketchup Falling Star.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Yes, I can't tell you because they're singing it's so
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: white like it's so yes exactly that that.
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: That that that we used to make fun of me
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: and my friends used to make fun.
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: Of it, and like do this.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: I love that movie. So you are saying it makes me.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: I love that. And Hector Sando's that that's name. He's
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: so good. You're gonna love him. A big Hector fan,
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: and a.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: Winter filmed a brief scene for this movie, but it
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: was cut from the final film, but will be presented
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: as a bonus feature on a streaming version.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Eventually. David Franklker firmed the former Vogue editor shot what
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: he called a gag take Unfortunate Name, but wasn't able
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: to be used because Winter missed her cue and apparently
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: was partially out of focus, which seems like not her fault.
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: And he said, which I thought was funny, and I
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: can't ask Anna to do take two, so we just
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: had to move on. It's like, yeah, imagine asking Miranda
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: Priestley that we need to do it again. Nope, that
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: was your show.
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: Move on. I thought that was kind of love.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: The two movies start exactly the same way, which I
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: thought was great, with Andy wiping away steam in.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: The bathroom beer and then brushing your teeth. She has
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: a regular toothbrush in the first one, and then in
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: the future she gets annoying for her. It's electric, let's see.
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: They asked Adrian Grenier to come in to come back
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: for the movie, but there was scheduling constraints.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: But there were scheduling consints.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Can you come this one day from two to four
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: in the morning. Can you make it? Oh? Not that
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: single day? Okay, see you. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Uh, I
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: just wanted you to know this.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: Sammy Miranda does crack a disparaging joke about the state
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: of New Jersey during a team meeting, but in reality,
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: both her and Anne Hathaway grew up in Jersey. I
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: did know that it was loving. It was a loving quip.
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: So we're good, let's see. Anne Hathaway expressed desire to
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: be present for the lovely Meryl Streep and the Milan
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: gift or the shopping gallery they couldn't get They couldn't
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: get a permit to close it. I guess to shoot
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: privately so people could just come and go. They decide,
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: that's why they decided to do it super early in
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: the morning, and after the cut, Hathaway ran to Meryl
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: Streep and said, You've never been more beautiful than you
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: are in this moment.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: And also probably true, and I'm just really sweet. I
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: just got misty eyed right there because I so love
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I actually did too. That is so sweet, isn't that nice? Yeah?
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: And another lovely thing that I a hundred percent did
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: not track, but someone that pays more attention to us
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: than I do did. In the last scene of the film,
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: Andy wears a shirt and a Cerulean sweater. The sweater
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: is rough cut on the neck and sleeves, hinting at
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: the fact that is the original Cerulian sweater that she
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: wore in the first film.
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: And I thought that was lovely, brilliant.
- 1:30:56Speaker 5: You know, I didn't clock that, but I did see
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: on social media side by side, and I was like, oh,
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: so brilliant.
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it so And it's so great because
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: like she, like her as a person, did belong there.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: She just had to live a life and come back
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: to it right and be there. And I think that's it.
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: And because it's the spider that she's whears in the
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: first one, don't they make fun.
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: Of her for it?
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: Yeah, one hundred percent. That whole speech happens, like you
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: think you chose this, You didn't. We did this ten
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: years ago, and like all that stuff, and she kept that,
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: but she didn't keep some of the other, like wonderful
- 1:31:31Speaker 4: clothes she got from her.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: Yeah, which was so funny. I love it.
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, that was all the trivia that I had.
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: I don't know if you saw anything out there, probably not.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: A lot of I didn't. Yeah, no, since it's a sequel,
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: it's just like the same folks mostly. I only I
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: only know one bit of trivia. Yeah, please say it.
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: Oh gosh, I think it's this movie Sidney Sweeney. I
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: think was supposed to have a scene in it. Now
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: I'm like, oh my gosh, am I thinking about it.
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: I did.
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: I did see that at the YEP that.
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: Was for this movie, and it got cut because of
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: it didn't fit or whatever.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: But I think there's more to that.
- 1:32:08Speaker 8: But I don't.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: Like it didn't fit the flow. They said artistically like
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: it took it. They cut it because it like artistically didn't.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: Oh sure, it was just like Adrian Grenier's calendar conflicts. Yeah,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I think it's one of those. Is this the story
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: we're gonna tell? That's interesting, I don't.
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: I think she was supposed to be like an influencer
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: or something, or maybe.
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: Just herself even let's see, she's.
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: Maybe a big enough star to do that. I mean
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: she is now, but would have been when they were
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: recording it, probably right for sure, she was, Yeah, that
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: would have only been I guess, Well.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: She's in a movie with Benny, Yeah she is.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: That movie's pretty good too. I like that movie. What's
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: it called again?
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: Reality?
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: That's right? It was in a straight hbo. Oh did
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: you ever see that, Sammy? That reality movie?
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: No?
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: I didn't. It's pretty good. I want to, isn't it.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: She was supposed to be a celebrity client that Emily
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: was styling.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: That's great.
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: Oh yeah, it was Sweeten playing herself. She was supposed
- 1:33:19Speaker 5: to be thy yep. Yeah, but it said it didn't
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: work structurally.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: And they had so many those two like, that's true,
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: so many cameos in this they might have just been legit,
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: like we didn't.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: Need another one more. Yeah, we have to keep carl
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: so like we have to have the Carlton Towns. Hello,
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: that's super roperly.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: Also funny when like they say the whole name because
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: they're like, we're not certain people are going to recognize you,
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: carl I Anthony Towns yep.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: Judgment Day.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Will there be a sequel? I hope so.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: But devil Ware is proud of three. Let's keep making
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: them if they're this good.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll have fun. I'll watch them.
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: Why not?
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: I mean, I have a hard time like, would Meryl
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: Streep do another one?
- 1:34:07Speaker 8: If she's saying it would probably have to be Miranda
- 1:34:10Speaker 8: has passed away or something, maybe like.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Kim maybe like Andy and Emily situation. Yeah, you know
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: what would be fun? Caleb hearing is y person? Oh,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: I mean, oh my god, that would be someone you know.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: It would actually be really fun if like twenty or
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: thirty years down the road they made it, you know,
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: at Meryl, I guess. I don't know if Maryl's thirty
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: years older than them, but she maybe close, but like
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: her age right as a as an older woman, that
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: would be fun. If Andy and Emily did that, Yeah,
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: that'd be kind of neat. I think it'd be interesting
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: to me.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: But I love having Caleb in the Let's go, Great,
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: I've love it. Do you guys want to play game?
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I made a starting five. I'm going to name
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: my five favorite actors from a particular film, and when
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: you know the film, you're going to ring with your name.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: If you get it wrong, there won't be any negative points,
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: but you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: If there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: for a point each the other person can steal if
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: you get any of those names wrong. All of these
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: films have something in common. It might just pertain to
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: this movie that we were talking about. When you know
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: the theme, you can ring it at any time for
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: a point. How do we feel? Okay, let's do this.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Number one. First name is Viola Davis. The second name
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: is Billy Crude up.
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: Billy.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: The third name is Richard Jenkins.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: What a cast.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: It's a great cast. The fourth name.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Javier Barden. Why do I not know this? We got
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: a couple oscar here.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: And the fifth and final name is Julia Roberts. Five
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: Bukes Bukes Eat Pray Love, Eat Pray Love is correct?
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: Crazy cast? Never seen that movie? Pretty crazy cast? Bukes?
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Are these films adapted from a novel? What a good idea?
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: It's not that great.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: I thought we had the reading Jones on. I thought
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: we were ready.
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: Oh that would have been such a good idea. I
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: wish I would have done that.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: I'm glad you said it because I had the thought too.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: But I forgot that. I get.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: So keep thinking. What could the theme be? It's a
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: little tougher than Ones, but that's a good one. Pretty
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: fun Book.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't haven't read it. I haven't seen it.
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: Let's go to number two. The first name is Kate Blanchette.
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: The second name is lip Seymour Hoffman.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: The third name Jude Law mm hmm. The fourth name
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: U U the talented mister Ripley correct.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: Two names remaining Namemon correct And you said it right, And.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: It's the Gwyneth Paltrow Goop Lady, right.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: But absolutely goop lady. Yes, nice U. And it's funny
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: because that one was also a novel beforehand. This next one,
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Is not about okay, gotcha, gotcha?
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: But you got three points there.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Nice job. Number three.
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: The first name is Edward Norton.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: The third second name, rather two is before three, uh
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: Seth Green.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Ed Norton met Seth Green.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: The third name is Jason Statham.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Bukes Bukes the Italian job.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: The Italian Job. Two names remaining so well.
- 1:38:20Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: Oh, this is where it all goes poorly. How do
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: your mother for me? Mark Wahlberg? Yes, Rob, Wait? Can
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: I can I pause and ask who you've said? I'm
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: so sorry? Yes?
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: You can add Norton, Seth Green, Jason Stateman, Statham and
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: you said Mark Wahlberg, So we have one name remaining.
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: I'm guessing this Wrongs is probably the born bad guy?
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: But is it Michael Kaine?
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: It's not Michael Kaine? Is he the one I also
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: didn't pick?
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: No? Is he in that movie? It wasn't. No, I'll
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: tell you the back after a different guy. Yep, Sammy,
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: have you seen The Italian Job? Do you know who
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: it could have been? If you like this movie? Yes,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: it really brought him on the map.
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: Charley's Thrown is the kind of second lead in that?
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: What a dummy? I am?
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: And Ed Norton, Seth Green, Jason State and Mark Wilbert.
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: Shirley's Thrown the Well, the bad guy was a Norton.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: I think you're thinking of the old guy. I was
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: Donald Sutherland who got.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: Killed, not Michael. I just knew it was an old guy. Yeah.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: I wasn't thinking he was a bad guy. He was
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: the got you impetus for the all the stuff.
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: So do we know what any of those three films
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: have in common?
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: So?
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: Have you pray? Love Talented? Italian Job?
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: And yep, tells I've only ever seen love so and
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: the Devil was proughtu tokay and you pretty love.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: What's that?
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: At some point in all these films they reference or
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: go to Italy. That's it?
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: You got it?
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they go to Italy. I'm so sorry, Rob,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: How many points did I get in that? So that
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: one was just too yep mark.

- 1:40:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I just want another waiter to say to me,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: Have I told you that story? For either of you?
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: I've told Rob for sure.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: That's a good story.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: The long and short of the story is I was
- 1:40:58Speaker 4: in Italy on the ships and it was my last
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: day in Naples, which is a town I don't love,
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: but they do wonderful food and everything around it is wonderful.

- 1:41:26Speaker 4: the waiter looked at me very confused.
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: Went and I was like yes, and he was like,
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: all right, this guy knows how to party. And he
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: was so happy when I just cashed two pizzas while
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: I was sitting there. I'm going to be in pain,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: but it's my last day here and I want it

- 1:41:45Speaker 1: in Naples.
- 1:41:46Speaker 8: It is.
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: I went to that very pizza aria as well. I
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: read Prey Love while I was in that whole area
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: that she goes to. That's probably why I liked it
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: so much.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Honestly, great I have though I need to do that.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: It's a big part of that book. I'd love to
