- 0:09Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simon Show on WR. Well,
- 0:15Speaker 1: let's take some calls. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 0:19Speaker 1: seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two one
- 0:23Speaker 1: zero seven ten. Let's go to Bob in Mottvale, New Jersey. Bob,
- 0:27Speaker 1: how you doing, Bob?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Oh?
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Hello, let's go Bob.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I'm sorry takes for taking my call.
- 0:39Speaker 1: You know, you keep broadcasting that the two governors and
- 0:44Speaker 1: Mandani were at the soccer game.
- 0:47Speaker 2: But contractually, does that mean they got paid?
- 0:51Speaker 1: No?
- 0:52Speaker 3: Now, why would they be at the soccer games from
- 0:58Speaker 3: the contract?
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's supposed to help promote the soccer. It's good
- 1:01Speaker 1: for business, it's good for tourism, brings in a lot
- 1:04Speaker 1: of revenue, a lot of money. So you have both
- 1:06Speaker 1: to go there and you pretend that you're interested and
- 1:08Speaker 1: you're watching it. It's a all right when you're a
- 1:12Speaker 1: governor or mayor. I mean, it's a lot of great
- 1:15Speaker 1: parts of the job. But then you got to sit
- 1:16Speaker 1: through a lot of stuff. Now, Mom, Donnie might be
- 1:18Speaker 1: a soccer fan growing up where he did but I'm
- 1:22Speaker 1: a feeling that Kathy Hochel is not a soccer fan,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and she has the attention span of like a mosquito,
- 1:28Speaker 1: So I really don't think she wants to sit there
- 1:30Speaker 1: for a couple of hours. But usually there's a lot
- 1:32Speaker 1: of people that you can mingle with. You know. People
- 1:36Speaker 1: think it's if you could be the mayor of New York. Wow,
- 1:39Speaker 1: you can be the governor. Sounds pretty powerful, glamorous. But
- 1:43Speaker 1: half the day you're meeting with the water Commission, you're
- 1:46Speaker 1: meeting with you got to go through some town hall
- 1:48Speaker 1: in the Bronx. It's it's got a lot of stuff
- 1:50Speaker 1: in that job you really wouldn't want to do. Let's
- 1:53Speaker 1: go to Mike and Saint James. Mike, how you doing far?
- 1:57Speaker 1: And Mork?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Thank you?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Ipoortan't the question for the Iran situation is Lloyd's of
- 2:04Speaker 2: London ensuring just ships.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the problem. We can open the straight or
- 2:10Speaker 1: declare it open and say that the US Navy will
- 2:13Speaker 1: escort you through the Strait. You'll have nothing to worry about.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But they still can't go unless the insurance company says okay.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And that's Lloyd's of London for most of these tankers,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and the tanker, the tanker, the actual ship costs a
- 2:26Speaker 1: couple of million, and there's millions of dollars worth of
- 2:29Speaker 1: oil on the ship. So Lloyd's of London has been
- 2:32Speaker 1: saying no, that's part of the problem because they'd be
- 2:35Speaker 1: on the hook for five, six, seven million dollars if
- 2:37Speaker 1: anything happens to the ship, so they're not given the
- 2:39Speaker 1: okay that fast. We've gotten some ships to go through,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and we have been pushing Lloyd's of London to allow
- 2:47Speaker 1: some ships to go through. So it's not the usual
- 2:50Speaker 1: traffic flow, but there are ships going through the Strait
- 2:53Speaker 1: of Horn Moose. Let's go to Jay in New Jersey. Jay,
- 2:55Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah, Mark, good morning. You know, we don't even report
- 3:00Speaker 3: anymore about the Fellows trying to kill the president. You know,
- 3:03Speaker 3: yesterday this guy comes to the White House with a
- 3:05Speaker 3: gun and that's not even news anymore. Isn't that crazy? Yeah, Well,
- 3:11Speaker 3: we did find out if it was a bigger deal.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It was reported. That's how you knew about it.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but it would have been a much bigger deal
- 3:20Speaker 3: if it was a different president. Trump gets shot out
- 3:22Speaker 3: every day.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Well, the guy didn't come close to actually doing anything.
- 3:26Speaker 1: But uh yeah, it happens too frequently. There's all kinds
- 3:30Speaker 1: of nuts roaming around there around the White House. Let's
- 3:33Speaker 1: go to Randall in Maryland. Randall, how you doing, Mark.
- 3:39Speaker 2: It's something that's bothered me about the Butler assassination attempt. Yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 2: the when the shots rang out, the shot that hit
- 3:51Speaker 2: Trump was what's a matter of seconds before the shot
- 3:56Speaker 2: that killed the assassin?
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:00Speaker 2: That worked.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you a better question. This is
- 4:02Speaker 1: a good question. And I see you're watching the assassin
- 4:04Speaker 1: and you're wondering about this. So what did you say
- 4:07Speaker 1: to yourself? You know what? I really want to know this,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but I'll wait two years before I call and ask.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Actually a little late to.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Be well, yes, that's a lot late, but I still
- 4:20Speaker 2: don't have an answer.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Well, who if you have an asking?
- 4:24Speaker 2: Well, well, why is the timeline between those two shots,
- 4:27Speaker 2: the shots that killed the assassin and the one that
- 4:29Speaker 2: said Trump. If it's only a matter of seconds, how
- 4:32Speaker 2: did they draw a bead on the guy? Uh?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Well, that's a good question. Now I'm trying to remember
- 4:38Speaker 1: it was you got to call like the next week,
- 4:41Speaker 1: not two years later. I'm trying to remember there was
- 4:44Speaker 1: a local police on the ground coordinating with the Secret Service.
- 4:48Speaker 1: There were snipers on other rooftops. Apparently after the shots
- 4:53Speaker 1: were fired, there was chaos, but a couple of local
- 4:56Speaker 1: cops realized what rooftop it was, radio does snipers. They
- 5:00Speaker 1: took their scopes, looked at the rooftops, saw the assassin,
- 5:04Speaker 1: and then killed him. Now you're supposed to check out
- 5:06Speaker 1: the rooftop before this even starts. It was a tremendous
- 5:11Speaker 1: error by the Secret Service because.
- 5:14Speaker 2: But it was bang bang. It was just bang bang.
- 5:16Speaker 2: It was like a choice player first.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, well, these guys are good, they're pretty quick, but
- 5:22Speaker 1: you're supposed to That was pretty good. Yeah, but you're
- 5:25Speaker 1: supposed to check out all the rooftops ahead of time.
- 5:28Speaker 1: The rule is for the Secret Service's supposed to scope
- 5:31Speaker 1: out a thousand yards in every direction, and this building
- 5:35Speaker 1: was like two hundred yards out. So they obviously didn't
- 5:37Speaker 1: do their job. This was the Biden Secret Service. Not
- 5:40Speaker 1: to blame it, not him, but you can put some
- 5:45Speaker 1: blame in that area because he when he was vice president,
- 5:48Speaker 1: there was a Secret Service agent that he liked a lot,
- 5:52Speaker 1: just she became like part of the family. So when
- 5:54Speaker 1: he became president. He made her the director of the
- 5:56Speaker 1: Secret Service. She was not really qualified. And if you
- 5:59Speaker 1: were wasted Butler, you saw those those young agents, remember
- 6:04Speaker 1: those two females who were They seemed to go into panic.
- 6:08Speaker 1: They were just flailing around the president. And then remember
- 6:12Speaker 1: they couldn't holster their weapon. They looked awful. It took
- 6:16Speaker 1: too long to get him in the car. It took
- 6:18Speaker 1: too long for the car to speed away. Took at
- 6:20Speaker 1: Reagan getting shot outside the Hilton in Washington. He was
- 6:24Speaker 1: in the car and gone within three seconds. In the
- 6:26Speaker 1: case of Trumpet, was like a minute and a half.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Way too long there. Hey, when we come back. The
- 6:31Speaker 1: brilliant columnist Liz Peak, we'll talk to her next on
- 6:36Speaker 1: seven to ten wor
