- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: We have to cut the bullshit of like what a healthy body looks like.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: We just have to.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like I am massively impressed by these strong women and strong men.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: They are not tiny people.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_02]: And what they can do is fucking insane.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_02]: My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: Each week my guests will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it till you see it.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back to the be it till you see it interview recap where my co-hosts in life Brad and I are going to dig into the redefining combo.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: I had with Brook Siler and Maria Earl in our last episode, and if you didn't listen to that one, you fucked up.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: You missed.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: You messed up.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: I hate to say it.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: That hurts really.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: But you got it.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: You got to listen.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_02]: What are you doing?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: How are you missing the Tuesday episode?
- 1:16[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm kidding.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: Listen to this.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes you'd like to listen this and then they go listen to that one.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_02]: So if that's you, I'm not harping on you.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to listen to it because you are going to be so intrigued if you missed it.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: It was so good.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: It was so fun.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was good.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was actually a lot of fun and there were like some great moments in there that I was just started taking notes.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_02]: 643 episodes later friends and he is taking notes.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, well today is February 19th, 2026, and it's a great American spit out.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: We observe great American spit out on the Thursday F.F.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: February's third full week every year.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's so complicated.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: It takes place, I have a really funny side note.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: I listen to this podcast.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, there's they have the three or four weeks every year.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so there's this one podcast I listen to and those I won't say the podcast name because if you listen to it, you'll know what I'm talking about and she always says the date and she'll say 2020 It's taken forever for her to go wet.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying it right.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: They're like no you're not
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, and that just made me think of it like let's make it as complicated as possible Thursday February 3rd full week of every year.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: So what do you think the 3rd Thursday of the fullest week in February?
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Why would the 3rd week of February not be full?
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, because you could start on a for the first could start on a Thursday.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I see.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's not full week.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's not full week.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: The third Thursday.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because if the week start, if the start is on a Wednesday, the first Thursday is not a full week.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: The third Thursday of February is full of a week.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is hilarious.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: So this year takes place on February 19th is a day to encourage people especially veterans to stop using smokeless tobacco products.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: The important mission of the day, I mean, honestly, it is just for everybody.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate that we're all from our veterans products.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: But right now we're talking about the great Americans spit out, which is clearly talking about dipping.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: dipping.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, dipping in other things.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: I guess there's other things.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: So the important mission of this day is to provide users with enough resources to help them stop using such products that tobacco plant is cultivated for its leaves.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: Tobacco leaves are rich in nicotine, which is an addictive chemical.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: People can use tobacco to smoke chew or sniff.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: The great American spit out is a perfect data stop to start fighting the addiction caused by tobacco products in nicotine.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: So the smoke list of tobacco users are encouraged to quit even if just for one day.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, you know what, you know, around here we are here for just one day anything to start.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: I actually really picked this day because a few other days were quite boring.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: But my family has a history of smokers and all of them had to have surgery and all of them did not die on an easy and an easy way.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: So my grandfather, he had a part of his long removed like a huge part back in the day when they did those surgery, it looks like a shark bit him and they would show us.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: This is, this is our hooked on through us.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: This is our dare campaign.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: My family would follow up as sure and show us the shark attack.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, this is gonna happen to you if you smoke.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then like, yes, oh, but your parents did a more kinder.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we didn't have any shark attack, smoking shark attack victims.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone was like, I don't learn the way I was right, and then my mom had another because of the blood, the way her blood collagulated and his tobacco use, sort of losing limbs.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: And to the day he died, he still smoked because at one point he was like, well, if I have no feet or legs or fingers, I should at least get to knew to smoke.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: And then his wife died of second-hand smoke, died of empathy, Matt.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, so I didn't even, so I also looked up because we are hearing that tobacco products are back on the rise again, partly because like, you know, the hooked on drugs is your brain on drugs.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: And, and things like that aren't working, but also the youth today, the youth, the younger people today.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: The youths, those youths.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: They are actually, they're, they actually don't, they have a deeper sense of fatalism like they actually don't think that they'll be alive as long as the rest of the world has been or in a world that is going to be healthy and clean for them.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: So why not smoke?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: Which I get that.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the idea of drinking less though.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: They, they don't drink as much they also have sex later.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that's cool.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: or less do you know today the day that we're recording this I heard that 40-year-old women are having more babies and teenagers and that's huge.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: That is a huge deal because like that's not what I don't think I would have expected that but that's great.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: Well because now IVF is gotten better and kids are having less sex so you know
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I think, but here's a deal, like, look, we all have our vices, we all have our addictions, and there's just something about cigarette smoke that just, and if you're a smoker who listens this, I'm, I'm not judging you.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: I, I feel bad that you got hooked on that and you got hooked on it, and it bothers me.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I understand, like, you could be addicted to alcohol and other things that are as bad, but there's just an out cigarette smoke that I fucking can't stand.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: I can't stand walking by a doorway and smelling it.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: I can't.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: So if me wanting to stand next to you outside matters, maybe quit today.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I know you're like, let's say this is chewing.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, chewing causes jaw cancer, you know?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: So, tongue, not sexy.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: Not sexy, in fact, one of our friends fathers had jaw cancer from smoking, from chewing tobacco.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: And so we all got to see that.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: That was my parents way of making sure we never started.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: That was the shark attack of the jaw cancer.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's not sexy.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna tell you right now, even if you're fatalistic, you definitely want your teeth.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: You do.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: So, stop smoking even for today.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get into it.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: So, oh, gosh, my goodness, babe.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: Aden, see many kicked off today.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, this morning.

- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we need to go to Australia and stuff.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: So next XLL.co slash Poland.

- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really know if it's I have, you know when I look at the map, I'm so confused.

- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to go over to Brussels.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'll just say that because I don't know if it's up or down or east or west.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to Brussels.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: XXLL.CO slash brussels will be at L Studio.

- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: My Saturday workshop is sold out
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: what already holy macro yeah it is it is at max capacity and there's only a few spots left in my Sunday workshop so if you are wanting to add classical concepts to your contemporary classes and you're going to want to go xxll dot co slash p o t
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: xxll.co slash pot, super excited.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: We'll have our decks there.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: Those workshops will happen and you definitely want to stick around because there's also going to be a little hangout session with that we're doing for our members and our listeners.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then there's a really cool documentary that they are doing the release, applies at any time as doing the release up at that pot event.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: You'll want to be there.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to come back.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: Then we're coming home and we're doing some fun stuff at home.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: We have elevate weekend.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: We have elevate retreat.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: We have business retreat.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know those things you can come to unless you can't and you'll know if you can't.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you got an invite.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: But what you can come to is something we're doing in May and believe or not may is still springtime.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Believe it or not.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's still springtime and so it's flash.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, some people think it's the summer because of the weekend, the holiday weekend.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: But it is still spring and we're doing spring training and it's how to get overhead.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: So this is our overhead exercises.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: We have a lot of requests from people struggling with overhead, jack, knife, control balance, prices and by-school, head stands.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: So what I'm super excited about is that we're going to do a whole week long on all these different classes with different teachers from the OPC platform.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: experience, you are going to have a class.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to give you tips for your life for your practice.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we even have a teacher who's removing overhead exercises from her practice.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: And so you don't let fear stop you from this one, or oh, I'm a beginner, or I can never do that.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: I've contranications, we will have.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: versions and variations for you and our goal is it's kind of like that.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Look, it's how to do it.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, necessarily do it.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: Having to do it, right?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: How to do it and not have to do it.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, and at OPC we're really big fans of like you you learn the variations and the versions of the replacements for your practice and then we believe it's brave and courageous that you do that.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: So we're super excited about it.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to want to go to OPC.me slash events to get on the weight list for that because you'll feel if you're on the weight list you'll hear about early bird and all that good stuff and so you won't miss out on that information.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, totally what I'm excited we have I mean hello welcome to the new year I know it's February 19 that was a year already But we just got home.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: This is our first day in the office.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: This is literally the first full day in the office And it's already January's almost done.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: I know I know I just kind of like it though I feel very I felt ready to come back to work today.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: We have to get into this episode before that we have a question from audience.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: Would you like to show me that?
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so IG from IG Pilates Rosie is asking, hey, someone told me that you should always gear out on the reformer to do the shortbox series.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, no, do you agree?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't always such a strong word?
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: Always, this is why I failed all personality tests because there's always an exception.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: So the answer would be fucking no.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't always do anything.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, right.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: We don't always do anything ever.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: I know, so not every reformer gear is out.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: So then what?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Then what are you supposed to do?
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Should you be gearing out?
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's a better way to ask the question.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: So we're not getting into our ADHDness.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: In an ideal world, your some people call it a sitting box.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: I call it a short box.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: goes over your shoulder blocks on the carriage like a hamburger side like it's per I guess anyways, I'm trying to describe how it goes on the reformer for visual.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, the short box goes on the carriage over the shoulder rest.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's the goal.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: So most reformers will have a peg or some sort of post that is on there and then there's space and then there's your shoulder block.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_02]: And so the box with ones at the box would fit between that and lock it into place
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not sliding off easily.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly, it's not going to come up.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's still can if you're not paying attention.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you can, you know, people have done funny things.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: But in an ideal world, you just sit on it.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not going to move forward or backwards.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be in place.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: And then from that position, your feet go on an eighth of strap and they should, you're facing the football.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: You're facing the football.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Feet go on the strap.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: And in an ideal world, your feet do not rest on anything.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: That said, sometimes they touch things.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: There's a difference between touching and resting, right?
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: I have noticed in our tours that there are a lot of new rules out in the world.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: And so there are some people who put the box in front of the shoulder rest.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think this is because people aren't really paying attention to how they put the box on.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: So you're saying in front as opposed to over their shoulder.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly, in front.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: So they put them in front of the shoulder rest because I think the boxes are getting damaged because people aren't paying attention to what they're putting the box on or some equipment has like different things back there on their blocks.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: They have to go in front of the shoulder box.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, if you're one in front of the shoulder box, most of the time you're going to gear out, unless someone is fun size and your box is really big, you're going to gear out.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: What does that mean?
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you're going to move the carriage away from the strap a little bit so that you can actually have straight non-resting legs when they're under the strap.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: Now, in the legs, be slightly bent.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, should they be forced bent?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't, because then it makes it really difficult to get into your seat, makes it really difficult to get into your center, your hip flexor starts pulling you up.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: When you say the thing you're talking about now we're talking about the actual gearing it.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about the exercise in an ideal world.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: You place the box on the equipment where the body means it so that their legs can be reaching as long as possible without locking out and their feet are underneath a strap flex without resting.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's the goal.
- 15:32[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's the goal.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to be different for everyone.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: Some people are going to be in front of the shoulder box.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: Some people are going to be over the shoulder box.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: Some people are going to be front geared out.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: But if you are putting the box in front of the shoulder box, because that's a rule, most often you're gearing out.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's now shifting the box or like four inches.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: And then, by the way, you have to gear back in because the straps are measured with a carriage geared end.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's really a pain that that's a pain in the ass.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, thank you so much.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: Just put the box over the shoulder box.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Why are we doing?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: Why are making this harder?
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, because we don't want it.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: Just teach people.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: You have to, I remember my trainer saying, hey, when you put the box on, make sure this part of the leather is underneath the box.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, it will curl in and it will break and it will hurt again.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: Someone's neck.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, great.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: Just tell people.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: This is why we have a weird rule.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, hey, you think Poliz's expensive don't damage the box.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: How about that?
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Don't damage my damn box.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: So anyways, I just think that like I get I get I get why some people make funny up rules, but we are when you change the exercise placement, you change the exercise.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_02]: When you change that it affects the queuing that people are giving and then teachers are giving out weird ass cues that make no sense to the person doing it because like, well, how do I get my butt on if my hip flexors are overworking?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so it's just hard.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, it's hopefully applies rosy.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: This gives you some ideas to think about.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: Definitely check out my videos on the short box and in my flashcards, you can see where the box is placed.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: You can see how long my legs are.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're an OPC member, you can send in a video.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can see how long her legs are.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, they're so long.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're an OPC member, you can send in a video of your setup for your short box.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll give you personalized feedback on where your box goes.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_02]: If you have a question, you can send it in.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, send it in, you can text us 3-0, 9-0-5, 5-5-3-4, or hit us up at bitpod.com slash questions.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Bitpod.com slash questions, where you can leave both a win or a question.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: I want your wins.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: I want your questions and your wins.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: I want all.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: I want all.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: We want them all?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: All right, stick around.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna talk about Brook Siler and Maria Earl.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right, welcome back.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Brook Siler and Maria Earl.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: Brook and Maria are internationally respected applies educators with over 50 years of combined teaching experience.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: Brook?
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: The author of the bestselling The Polaris body, dropped in 2000 y'all, has spent decades teaching and researching Joe Supply's original writings, photos, and archival materials, which deeply inspired the new 25th anniversary edition of her book and its expanded chapter on internal sensing and natural movement.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: Maria, who began teaching in 1997, and previously owned a ploddy studio on Manhattan's upper east side, now runs a global education practice from Barcelona where she moved, I think she set it up about 15 years ago.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: She appears as the model in Brooks' new addition of the book, and was chosen for her grounded internal authentic approach to movement rather than an aesthetic performance.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Together they're redefining what a ploddy's body really is.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I have to say, and I did say this on the episode, but I have had, I have many police people pitched to be on this podcast.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: And while we talk about plays a lot, it's not a Pilates podcast.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like I know it's for Pilize listeners, but to me, Pilize is a mind body, you know, practice, and sometimes our mind is a little fucked up, and we need to help from these be it.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: Because we have, so we can get into our body when we're in our practice.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: So, but I really wanted to interview them because what a beat till you see it's story and just how the book came about, how the second edition came about, how Maria jumped in on the second edition.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, she was so vulnerable and authentic about about joining the book.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I love that Maria said, let's celebrate the body as it is.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: Let's cut through the bullshit of what it means to have a polished body.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I, here's the thing that's really interesting, right?
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, when I bought the book, the polished body.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't like, oh, I'm going to look like this after I do this book.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's not how I interpreted the book.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of like, like, a runner, like, you know what I mean?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what are these things?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm weird to pick up like a golds gym muscle book and be like, oh, if I do these exercises, I'm going to look like...
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna have the gold's gym body, you know?
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I mean, I guess like people, I guess people do, but I think this to all stems from just terrible media information on what a healthy body looks like.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: And so I couldn't agree more with the cut through the bullshit of what applies by means, because we have to cut through the bullshit of like, what a healthy body looks like.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: We just have to.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like I am massively impressed by these strong women and strong men, they are not tiny people.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like the dudes who pick up the boulder and carry it down the thing or those like weird like rock But it like shaped like kind of like a diamond like those and there are hundreds of pounds.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, those people who are in those bodies Those are huge bodies.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: They're not they're stronger than anybody I know.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: literally any any of the bodies that we work out with that we're friends with that were connected with stronger than any of the bodies I know remember we watched what was that Korean show the one the 100 the 100
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: the physical, oh, physical, physical 100.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: The physical one had that.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it didn't translate well.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: It just was, but like, it was interesting because like, they brought all these different athletes or pseudo athletes and trainers and they all these different bodies.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: And depending on the challenge, certain bodies did better, right?
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like the mountain climbers certainly slayed the first challenge over the strong men.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: But then when it came down to the end, you had an equal amount of people who were in bigger bodies and endurance bodies.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: at the same challenge and so what it comes down to is like on average most of us.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: If we are paying attention to our body and balancing out our strength and flexibility and our endurance, you can do a fuck ton of stuff, but so many of us are obsessed with getting smaller and it's boring.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, I could keep going, but for Maria, there was an internal struggle because of course she was excited about the conversation and then she's still a human being, so we got to talk about when you look at yourself and those pictures and you go, yeah, I'm a proud of my body, I'm proud of you part of this, but ooh!
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's what I look like and I've read today with us so much.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I was I was doing a photo shoot yesterday And I was just like okay guys.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is not a sitting outfit.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: This is a standing outfit So can you like because because also it's like how much of it do you want to be as it are just how much of it is a distraction versus like
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: the point or, or do we just do it so that people still real see real bodies more often?
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's such a complicated thing and your mind messes with you based on how you were raised and these stories take a long time.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_02]: But she said for her, it was bigger than the photos.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: She said it became about reframing what it's in our bodies to be embodied and to celebrate all the different phases.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I love this so much because Maria, Brooke and I and many people listening, our bodies are in a different part of our journey.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just where, you know, we're not gonna look like 20 year olds.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: And then Brooke also was conscious of this issue because in 2000 she had wrote in that issue that she said,
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: she hopes in earnest that the models in the book inspire and don't intimidate because she chose the original models for their strength and endurance and also because they knew the work.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think that that's really hard when you're trying to pick it up and not because of their size and I think even though her heart was really in there about inspire and not intimidate like people just have a really hard time reading all the words and applying that to themselves and so I'm excited for this additional chapter.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I also just wanted to say, I'm glad you grabbed this as your topic because I, when I said I started taking notes, I actually was voting you.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: As much as I appreciate the interview, you said something that really stuck out to me.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: You said, we should have always been moving for the health of it and not for the shape of it.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: move for the health of it and not the shape of it.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, I thought it was kind of quippy little like tagline, you know, for the health of it.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's almost like for the hell of it.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: This is so health of it.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't it so great that I can come up with these things?
- 23:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you're also so great that I can hear them and be like, we should clip that.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's your job.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: Be it till you see it.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: Be it.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and I think that's comes from like, I don't know if I mentioned on this episode or a different one, but I read a book called Rethinking Finn.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: At the same time that I picked up the plies body book, I picked up that book because I was saying about coming up personal trainer and I was doing this personal training stuff and it was a history, it's a history of dieting and like where dieting came from and where the ideal woman's body came from and it's two fucking things that will fuck and piss you off.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: One, it's a cartoon drawing.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: So that's annoying because it's not even fucking real and then the other was on the
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: So the Normand statue.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's like holding the earth.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: No, but it's just a man.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a man.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: And then what they did for Norma.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Normand.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: Norma.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's Norma.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: Norma or Norma or Norma.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: From my understanding from a book about butts.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's they basically took.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: I really hope that was the title of book about butts.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think it is.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'll look at while you're talking about your favorite thing.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'll look it up.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: They basically put boobs on Normand.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Normand does not have estrogen.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: His pelvis is a different shape.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh my god, he doesn't get these.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I see.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: So they took, they took a sculpture of him, man.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: And just put boobs.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then said, this is what the idea was.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: This is what a woman looks like.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think the idea, I think the moment I'm an average, right?
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: But it's not, that's not even a thing.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Now I'm possible.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: So anyways, like because of the book rethinking then I learned about all the different diets It's a camera on all the different things that we're obsessing about and also how genetics plays such a massive role on the size that your body is determined to be and then there's and then you go into the history of like when Being heroin chic is in and it's always when they're trying to take white right away from women like literally if you take All the different times heroin chic was in and then you take all the different times they're trying to oppress women
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: they literally line up at the same time.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like it's a coltic behavior of like lady stop eating so your brain isn't functioning and you're not able to hear how we're taking your rights away.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, what did you love?
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I just wanted to say shout out to a podcast called hysteria that I listened to.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: That talks about this all the time.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like the women's rights and we love it.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, like, it's a lot of politics as well, but it's to, you know, very powerful women who really dig in and it's been really enlightening for me to see this from a different perspective.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the book is called Butts, a Back story.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: Bye, that's her fracking.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: by who?
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: by Heather Radke.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's really funny.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_02]: If anyone knows her, I wanna interview her, but yes, it's about race, gender, control, beauty, standards, it's a lens of the human backside, and it's really great.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: But I also just wanna say, if you're like, ugh, it's so annoying when they get political.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: Ladies, being a woman in this world is political.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: Just, I hate to break it to you, but it is.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, you're turned.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're not wrong.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, hey, look back to Brooke and Maria.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: Maria also recounted how her mom often said fake it till you make it.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I know that we've talked both times here about Maria, but I, this really resonated with me because I actually really wanted to hear you say, be it till you see it is the positive spin of fake it till you make it.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: I know, but I know, and I want to try to take away from her, but also it works for her.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like it works for her and it doesn't hold her back.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: So like, I don't ever want to take something that works for someone away.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: And so I will let Brooke have.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: They could tell you make it that said.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Maria, oh, Maria said that.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, Maria said that.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: I will let Maria have that because I think that's important.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: And also, if that is hard for you or an authentic, then that's the beat till you see it reframe.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: That's all.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it is a reframe, but it's obviously, you know, it's why always is a terrible word.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: But she, she, so Maria said she uses this one.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: She's not quite sure what she's doing.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: Or when she feels like she's not quite sure helps her bypass the paralysis of starting, where, you know, often starting things, not 100% sure where they're going,
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think it's really helpful.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: There's got to be, you know, it is a weird thing, right?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_00]: This, this idea of having this internal dialogue of like your own internal, like cheerleader versus like, you know, antagonist.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's hard to sometimes be in the moment and see this is up time right now where I have to choose to fake it till I make it, right?
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it's,
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: it's hard to do that.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: But if you can, you know, being until you see it is a win, you know, there's there's a way to to at least get the ball rolling until you because confidence comes through action, right?
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: It comes through doing an experience.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: So if you there's got to be a point where you got to get the ball rolling.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I couldn't agree more, and I remember like, you know, when I had a job in retail, one of the guys who worked for me, I was going through a lot, and I took them for as like, you know, monthly meeting.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: I said, are you good?
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I just know you've got a lot going on outside of this and he goes, oh, none of that bothers me here, because when I cross the threshold of the store, it's show time.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: And that's another way of being a TAC at a fake, it tell you make it like, I agree.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's good mantra for us to have, and I also like,
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think we are all putting too much pressure on feeling ready.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't know that I got to ask Brooke, like, which did she feel ready to like add to this book, but also like, this is a big endeavor to take a best-selling book.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: I make changes to it.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, the number of people like this book changed my life.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: I still have my book from 25 years ago.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then to go, oh, I'm adding on.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just gonna make it better.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just gonna make it better.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna make it better.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: No big deal.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: And people don't go, oh, I'm just gonna keep the one I have.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, a bunch of our OPC members and our LLV members all were like, oh, I pre-ordered the copy.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm ready to go and like, for...
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: But I think this is like, we're dancing around the word perfectionist.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right, you know, like the idea of being ready to get started to do the thing, you know, that's that's very much a perfectionism mentality and it's it creates this fear that we're not going to it's not going to be right or done or perfect or whatever and that that is the billetating and also it is like the fastest way to go nowhere.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it really is.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_02]: And like, first of all, I think we were also blessed for the second issue of this book to be out because the additional chapter is not only a visual understanding of what Brooke was trying to get in the first book and also the research has done since, but she got to go through in like, with the 25 years of hindsight and add into that.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that is a really beautiful thing because it means a conversation continues.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: you know, and I think like going back to the word perfection, like even though the book is it has hit print and you can all get it and you should, the conversation will continue and I think that's what's really cool.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I'm I'm excited for her and also I love that she shared that brook shared.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, I thought I was going to get away with like the easy smack two books together and rerelease it and be like done and then her publisher was like no.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_02]: I actually really appreciated that because when we re-did the mat deck, we were like, okay, we're gonna break these things out.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Meredith, I remember I was going, oh, you edited every single card.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, well, yeah, because I thought we could just like, pull these three out.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: But then once I did that, I was like, well,
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of got it through the whole thing like I now I know too much.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: I know too much about how it was used and I also have been five years, right?
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: We got a tons of feedback.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I imagine that Brooke was similarly like inundated with feedback.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes for 25 years.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: Amazing.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_02]: Probably probably most unsolicited and some.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: But hey, there's one more thing I wanted to talk about that Maria mentioned that really struck a chord with me.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: I really appreciate it.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't quite say it that way that I have said it, but the story she told herself, right?
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: She, you know, was that, oh, she was just in the right place at the right time to be able to move to Spain decide to live there and become an international educator, right?
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's the story that she told her she said it was she was spinning a narrative that kept her small.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: And so, effectively, that was how she was viewing herself.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and then when people would ask her, what did she do, how did she do it?
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: She would say, oh, I was just in the right place at the right time.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: Which then allows them to go, oh, you lucked out.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, but that takes away from all the hard work and the tough decisions, then the scary decisions that I had to make to get here.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not true.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, there's of course, there's always some element of luck to it, but she was very intentional about that.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: And so she started to talk about that, like addressing the narrative of playing small.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: you know, and and I really appreciate that because I remember when I was working for someone else, I, you know, why did I not go and ask for a raise?
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm just, I shouldn't even be here.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Was what I kept telling myself.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just the musician that like, you know, if I had ever gone through an interview process, they never would have hired me.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: These are all the things that I used to say to myself to justify the position that I was in.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: And that's a hundred percent playing small.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I really resonated with this when she was talking about this.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: And she said today she reframes her story.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: She said, you know, what got here here was her grit persistence and tenacity not luck.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I just applaud her for I think it's important that we identify that in our own lives.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: What story are you telling yourself that's keeping you small.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh, good question.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to learn that.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, stick around.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to dig into those B-adaction items that we got from Brooke and Maria right after this.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: So finally, let's talk about those B-adaction items.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from York Convo with Brooke and Maria Brooke said the only way out.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: is true.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_00]: The only way out is through.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_00]: She said she has a mentor who's a Buddhist and their guidance has been helping her push through the fear, especially when it comes to like we talked about.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: How do you make something that's 25 years successful even better and not jack it up?
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: The only way out is through.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_00]: She said, if I see fear, I'm going to head towards that fear, so that I can make it through.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: She said she went, now when she has an idea, she wants to share.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_00]: She reframes taking action as sharing rather than doing a thing for others to react to, which I thought was pretty cool because she was talking about US, they're like, how do you have the confidence to do this stuff?
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: She said she started teaching.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: and three years later wrote this book.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_00]: Three years.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote this book.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_00]: That has been an international success.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: It took me six years to get the fuck on YouTube.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so that's kind of amazing.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you asked her, like, how did you do that?
- 34:51[SPEAKER_00]: And she said, honestly, I just get so excited about the thing that I'm focusing on that I want to share it.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't, don't approach it in the way that like, I'm the authority, listen to me.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: No, she's excited about this thing.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: She's nerding about it, and then she's sharing it with others.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how, that's what gave her the confidence.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and also, do you know that fear and excitement, the difference is brewing?
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like they're on the same energetic wavelength, but what do you breathe?
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so if you're afraid, we're nervous, exhale.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: And then you can enjoy excitement because it's the same.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's amazing.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: According to Gay Hendrix, and you know he is, he is one of the lords around here.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, and by the way, on the day we're recording this, it's just not the day you're listening to it, he's 81 today, so.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's an aquarium, of course he is.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_00]: Of course he is.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_00]: Of course he is.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what about you?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: What was your big?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I took a summary as a beat actions in my takeaway.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: So make sure you people in your corner.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: Fuck yeah.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't, if you people in your corner suck at life, I know it's hard.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's almost hard to like have nobody.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I'd rather you have it.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: nobody and like you've held a space open for somebody rather than have people who are like actively bringing you down.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: So just keep that in mind.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you have some people in your corner and she said it's important that we nurture those relationships that you've built.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have to be big but it should be something you can hold on to.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: And this is interesting.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm was just reflecting you know yesterday on our photo shoot.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm used to having a lot of friends I only saw once a month because we live in LA and there's traffic.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I love those friendships, and they don't have to, to me, it goes back to me, it doesn't have to be a weekly relationship.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: But it's something you have to have tangible, you have to hold on to, you have some connections, and those are people you have in your corner.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so if you haven't, yet, take some time, go through your contacts, who's actually in your corner, which nurture which relations do you want to nurture back?
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: And because in the hard moments, people who show up for you and see you for you are kind of flight back to you, all the good stuff that you are, and this has happened to me more times than I can imagine.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: And we have a friend,
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: Who is recently going through something that's really quite frustrating and awful and you know what we don't talk to her very often But we heard what happened someone else told us who's also in her corner and a bunch of us are like, oh here's how we can support you boom boom boom boom boom And she didn't ask for that help.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure she didn't even know what kind of help we can give But when you have relations you nurture even it's on a completely basis people will show up for you and they'll show up for them And it's and it's quite it makes life a lot more fun
- 37:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yeah, I definitely agree, you know, I think that we've talked about it before being intentional about who you let weigh in, you know, or how, how much weight you give to their feedback, you know, so that's important, but I think also to, you know, there was an element to this conversation about allowing life to life and relationships to change, which I also really appreciated because I have always had a fear of loss of letting go, I don't know why.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I've always struggled with like friendships drifting apart.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it was really interesting to hear us say, Hey, it's kind of okay that that happens.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: And it allows you to take stock of who actually is And attention and like in your world and choosing to be in your world instead of you, you know, trying to drag
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and also I think, like, if they're really meant to be in your life and you run into them or something comes up and you call them, it will pick back up.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe there might have to be a quick conversation with like why there's been so much space, but it'll pick back up.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we recently saw someone I haven't talked to in years.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_02]: They were a part of my life for quite some time.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: I had reflected about like why I'd let that kind of fade out, and when I saw them, I was like, yeah, it's okay.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm still okay with that decision, and I think it's hard because we go to have a whole conversation with them.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_02]: Should we dialogue?
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: Should we have like a whole, like, here's why our relationship didn't know.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: You don't need to have those things.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: You just can move on because no one is right or wrong in these instances.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's just the way life goes and you evolve, and they evolve, and sometimes that evolution is together, and sometimes it's the part.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm less the Logan.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm Brad Crowl.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: Go get the plies body book if you haven't done writing.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's so good.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm especially if you're into plies.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's the new one, is the new one out?
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the new one's been out since December.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: So this one.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_00]: So the plodies body 25th anniversary edition.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, if you want to see my reaction to my husband literally opening the package for me instead of like every day for five days watching me go to the mailbox to open this package and then you just open it.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's on my Instagram.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's in December.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a November.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been November.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been November.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been November.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.

- 39:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been November.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
