- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I'm your bougie multipreneur, Dr.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Hilary Heshawa-Jones.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Today I want to talk about a um luxury garage.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna go over some of what it is and then tell you about how we purchased it and then a lot of things people are asking me about them.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: So if you haven't seen them in your area, I don't think there's a lot across the US, but a luxury garage is literally a garage, but you can like outfit it into really nice spaces.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: So it's like, well, at least in my area in Indiana, it is a condo.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, you can't really like sleep in it overnight, like long term.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: However, I mean short term, like you could have a you know, a sleepover there party.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and it you could use it for just like working on car on cars and storing like nice cars.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: So in our area, let me tell you about it.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: It's called the motor district.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: You can look it up online if you want to see what it is.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: But people outfit these luxury garages into just beautiful, beautiful things from the floors to all the high-tech like sound and av equipment to like, you know, like the cars and the works of art.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Some of these owners, like they're race car like owners themselves, or they have a team, or they're retired, or maybe it's someone like me and my husband who live by one and thought, I think that's the coolest idea.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: A, we don't work on cars, we have one luxury car, but not enough to need a whole luxury garage for.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Um, and I was like, you know, what could we do with this up and coming?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: So once they build all these out, there will be no more to build.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: The there's no more space, and um, it's not something that you see all the time.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: It's not like a storage unit.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Although from the outside, it looks like an oversized storage unit, but on a nicer upper scale area.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So on when we bought it last year, uh, it was like a shell.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: It's like buying a shell with walls.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: There is a loft in it and stairs, and then you could do whatever you want with it, really, you know, within reason, right?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So we made ours luxurious for events.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: And I thought, you know what?
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Let's make an event center where we can rent out this garage.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Not for cars, not for people to store things.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Like, let's make it pretty, like make it sparkly and shiny and gold and just somewhere you'd want to go, like a cool place to hang out and have a party versus always having it like in a stuffy restaurant or our country club.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Like, let's do more with this.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So um there are some pictures on our website now.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: It's called luxury garage events.com if you guys want to look it up.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: But uh we have um beautiful black and gold flooring um on the bottom.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: It's like 30 by 40 at the bottom, and then up there's a half of it's a loft upstairs, too.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: We've got um the latest and greatest sound and AV equipment.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, we could literally do karaoke in there.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: We've got two huge TVs and a 200-inch like retractable screen with projector.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: So great for like business people that want to do meetings, or if you want to like show like, let's say, like a cute like slideshow of like your kids' life or your grandpa's life.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're talking like parties, um, baby showers, bachelorette parties, graduation parties, small wedding ceremonies, like when you just want like a different place to host an event.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: That's what I thought of.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: If any of you are like me and that love hosting events and throwing parties, then you know how expensive it is to do that.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: So um, one of my jobs is I own uh two chiropractic offices and we do a lot of events for the community because I'm a huge fan of like parties and get togethers and getting to know everyone.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So we throw events all the time for my chiropractic offices, and the price that you pay to rent an area is just it's crazy, you guys.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And then to have to pay on top of that for catering and bar service and then the bartenders and the cleanup fees, it's just astronomical.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: And I thought I'm not gonna be so um difficult to work with.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you bring your own caterers, you bring your own beer and your own bartender, like you for my space, you just rent the space, you have to pay for a cleanup.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Um, and then I even we bought uh tables and chairs and linens now.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And so I can offer a package of tables and chairs and linens at a lower price than a lot of these other places that you have to have them come and set up and tear down at certain times.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So super excited about the luxury garage events.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: And um, it really just came through as like an idea of what else we could do with a luxury garage.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: We don't have tons of uh expensive cars that we need to store or or a big um RV or anything like that.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: We definitely don't work on cars.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm a chiropractor and business coach, and my husband's an accountant, so we're not out there working on cars or getting dirty or anything like that, but um luxurious things.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Now that's what I like.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: So if you can envision, and again, you can go on our website, luxury garage events.com.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Um, the upstairs is um um white and gold, and um we've got these little velvet green chairs, so it's like emerald green and gold velvet chairs and a glass table, and then we've got um a little bar area under the TV with another like small-ish fridge, like wine fridge-ish, and then we've got a full kitchen.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: So you'll see like on the pictures, we've got a regular size um stove and hood and refrigerator, microwave, and an island with the the sink in it, and a gold faucet, and you know, bar stools up there.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Um, what's really great is it's um open so you can look over the railings down to the first main floor if you want to.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I bring this about because a lot of people I talk to, they're like, what's a luxury garage?
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: They hadn't heard of it, or in their state, maybe they don't have one.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's not that it's new, there's just not that many across the US that I could find.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: So when I started to look up, like, what did we want ours to look like, or what did we want to do with ours, there wasn't a lot to go with.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: I just knew that I love planning parties and events for all my other businesses that I do.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: I love hosting networking, like meetups, social hours, get togethers.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: I love doing all that type of stuff.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I thought, why not make some money on that, right?
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: So always being of the business entrepreneurial spirit, always thinking of what's our next latest and greatest.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: But um, you know, if you're like me and you have some ideas, you know, you sometimes you just need someone to work out all the kinks with.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So in our my marriage, I am the implementer, and my husband is definitely the visionary.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think I pulled one over on him on this one.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I actually was the visionary for this.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: And um when it came to implementing, not my most favorite to implement with a contractor, not gonna lie.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Uh, so he got to take over that aspect and he did a great job with that.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: But it is really cool.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: It's fun to see like your idea and your vision come to life.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And so instead of just thinking and saying, oh, that would be cool for an event space or this or that, I really jumped in and tried to make it happen, you guys.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: Like get some of these things done.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: If you are a visionary without an implementer, then you'd probably need to hire a business coach that's an implementer.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: And that's literally all my clients, all my clients are visionaries, and I help them implement their ideas because that's pretty much who I am.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I'm mostly a an implementer with some some vision sometimes.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Definitely I have some good ideas sometimes.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: And then my husband's brain with accounting and business and learning all that stuff.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: He he's great with numbers, and uh, we made this happen.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: So think about like what's beyond your scope, too.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, like I said, I'm a chiropractor with two chiropractic offices.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I work part-time chiropractic and I do part-time business coaching and consulting.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: So it's not that I ever had an event center before, or actually, I literally don't even know anyone that has an event center.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: And uh, we're just kind of going bit going with it, learning new CRMs, um, meeting with event planners and um having grand openings and uh just really going out there and uh getting the word out there.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: So um really wanted you to hear this different type of idea and just know that you know you could do something different too.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: You know, it doesn't have to be something that you've done really well with already, or another chiropractic office, or another accounting firm.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: It could definitely be something that fulfills a need in your community that you also enjoy and you could, you know, work tandemly with.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, all my chiropractic events will now be at our luxury garage event space.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Um, my kids' birthday parties are now gonna be there.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: It's so we will be doing definitely a lot of events and useful things there, but making money from it too.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: And long term, think about the investment of something.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And I always look at what's it gonna be like when we can sell it later.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: So a lot of our projects and our houses and commercial buildings that we buy, we don't think about like we're gonna hang on till until we die.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Like we think, what are we gonna make and sell it for in like five to 10 years, too?
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, once all of these luxury garage condos are gone, the price is gonna go up because people are gonna want it more and there's not gonna be any more.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: So at that point, we're gonna be, you know, in a good place to sell it at a much higher price than what we paid it for as one of the original people there at the garage center.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: So you guys look up the luxury garages in your area.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying that this is like something that you want to do, but uh point being, you know, what else is out there?
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: What else have you been thinking of?
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: What do you need to start implementing and doing?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: And if you're not an implementer, then you know, get a business coach, talk to someone, an accountability partner, something that will help you start getting some of these things in actions, like start doing something.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Life's too short, right?
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: We need to be out there doing it, making money, and uh just being a being a money magnet, just like me.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: Talk to you later.
