- 1:12Speaker 4: I gotta I gotta say to two things. Yeah, two things.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I want my sunglasses back. That's the first thing.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Second thing, weakest beard ever.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Know who wants to for our audience that's uh staring
- 1:35Speaker 3: longingly into their radios.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Would what have you liked to describe what I'm dressed as?
- 1:41Speaker 4: Yeah, you're you're Frank Reagan on vacation.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Yes I am.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Yes, he's dressed as Magnum p I. He's got his
- 1:50Speaker 4: uh Detroit Dodger's hat. His his his uh aviator sunglasses, his.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Which are polarized, so I can't look at I can't
- 1:59Speaker 3: look at the Yeah. Yeah, so we had my my
- 2:05Speaker 3: wife's cousin, her second cousin, had.
- 2:07Speaker 5: A fortieth birthday party a couple of pounds over.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And they always this family always throws the most amazing
- 2:16Speaker 3: themed parties, whether it's Halloween or birthdays or whatever. They
- 2:21Speaker 3: did his sister. They threw a Sarahkon one time, which
- 2:25Speaker 3: was a comic con themed birthday party.
- 2:27Speaker 5: It was absolutely amazing. Pirate theme they did.
- 2:31Speaker 3: When the second cousin, Colin, turned thirty, they did a
- 2:34Speaker 3: Dirty thirty party, which was like you know, speakeasies and
- 2:38Speaker 3: like under like backroom gambling and stuff. Everybody dressed like
- 2:42Speaker 3: they're in the you know, from the thirties. So this
- 2:44Speaker 3: was his fortieth, so everybody dressed up from something from
- 2:47Speaker 3: the eighties specifically.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 3: So yeah, and my wife dressed up Ripley from Aliens
- 2:55Speaker 3: Nice and yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 5: It was. It was amazing. So we had we had
- 2:58Speaker 5: a really good time.
- 2:59Speaker 6: So I was gonna say, with that mustache, man, I'm
- 3:01Speaker 6: about it feels like you need to say the bears.
- 3:06Speaker 3: That or about the you know, if you look like
- 3:09Speaker 3: a fireman. I got a little bit of Ron Swanson too, Yeah.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see that. Yes, so absolutely breakfast foods.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I like pretty dark haired women and breakfast foods. That
- 3:23Speaker 3: describes Roy and Scott.
- 3:25Speaker 5: To a t.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And small government, small government, right, that's right, as he
- 3:32Speaker 3: worked for the government.
- 3:35Speaker 5: All right, enough about me? What do you guys think
- 3:37Speaker 5: about me?
- 3:41Speaker 4: I'm curious? How how often do you take your beard
- 3:48Speaker 4: down that far?
- 3:50Speaker 3: So the last time I did it was for one
- 3:53Speaker 3: of these themed parties. Actually, no, I uh year and
- 3:58Speaker 3: a half ago. I did did when I played when
- 4:00Speaker 3: I did Beetlejuice at one of the cons and that
- 4:04Speaker 3: was about that was about two years ago.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Before that.
- 4:07Speaker 3: The last time I had done it was for Sarah Kahn,
- 4:12Speaker 3: the for his Sarah is the sister for her for
- 4:17Speaker 3: one of her birthdays, I.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Think, Which is anyone else having a problem not finishing
- 4:21Speaker 4: that and saying, Sarah Connor, that's just ringing it. It's
- 4:24Speaker 4: just ringing in my head, right.
- 4:25Speaker 3: So for for that one, we we my whole family,
- 4:28Speaker 3: including my mother in law, went and dressed as the Incredibles.
- 4:32Speaker 5: So I was missed incredible. My wife was nice.
- 4:35Speaker 3: A last girl and then my mother in law was
- 4:40Speaker 3: the short lady who designed all the things. Yeah, and
- 4:45Speaker 3: every everybody looks spot out. I'll try to find a
- 4:46Speaker 3: picture of it posted on the And for.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Those who were worried, Scott Spards is scheduled to return
- 4:53Speaker 4: at three o'clock today.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I shaved yesterday and I've already got a nice
- 4:57Speaker 3: thick stubble going on. So nice back, although the mustache
- 5:02Speaker 3: is kind of growing on me.
- 5:03Speaker 5: But my wife is like, no, grow grow it, grow
- 5:06Speaker 5: it back.
- 5:06Speaker 1: You need a leader of Cola, Yes, exactly.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Need a leader of Yes. Yeah, that's a star Starship Trooper.
- 5:13Speaker 5: That's a Starship Troopers reference, right, super yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 6: Super next week, So I mean you might be ready
- 5:19Speaker 6: for showing.
- 5:20Speaker 5: Up at the there you go.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I actually walked into a gas station like this yesterday.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Oh god, classes and everything. Nobody said anything, but I
- 5:29Speaker 5: got a lot of.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I mean, you could do Super Mario with that thing, right,
- 5:36Speaker 3: that's true.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Daddy, it's a fat magnum p I.
- 5:41Speaker 1: No, kids wouldn't know who magnum p I is.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, all right, had a lot of fun. So
- 5:50Speaker 5: what are we here for? This is the Man Podcast?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the show.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Yeah exactly, So I have a I have a an
- 6:03Speaker 4: exit at ten thirty. Yeah, today we are we are
- 6:08Speaker 4: going to track or supply in a neighboring town for it.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Don't get excited. They're having an adoption event. So we
- 6:18Speaker 4: have been a dogless family for eight years at this point,
- 6:25Speaker 4: and it might be time. It might Wow, it might
- 6:29Speaker 4: be time.
- 6:30Speaker 3: So okay, we're excited in the Facebook group if we
- 6:34Speaker 3: get if we get a dog, yeah, okay, all right, yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 4: And uh, you know, if you have any name ideas,
- 6:40Speaker 4: you know, feel free to throw them up in the
- 6:42Speaker 4: chat because always.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Oh Barkley Crusher, Mark Crusher.
- 6:53Speaker 4: We used to have.
- 6:54Speaker 5: All right.
- 6:54Speaker 4: So our last dog, his name was Derek.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Uh.
- 6:57Speaker 4: He was a yapper. He was a little he was
- 6:59Speaker 4: a little rat terry here. He was an old man.
- 7:02Speaker 4: He was a cranky old man. So we had this
- 7:04Speaker 4: running joke that he, you know, inside his spirit animal
- 7:09Speaker 4: he was an old Jewish lawyer and yeah he was
- 7:13Speaker 4: and his uh, his firm you know, his name was
- 7:15Speaker 4: Derek Barkmore and his law firm was.
- 7:22Speaker 7: It.
- 7:23Speaker 4: That's great.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Anyway, that's great.
- 7:26Speaker 5: Can you can you give us a few lines that
- 7:28Speaker 5: he would he would say.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Have you been injured at work. I'm Derek blub and
- 7:39Speaker 4: we'll get you money.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I don't know if he just gained a lot of
- 7:44Speaker 3: Jewish followers or lost a lot of Jewish let us
- 7:49Speaker 3: know what the chat.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Yes, exactly exactly, all right, Well, let's.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Where do we go from here?
- 7:58Speaker 1: I don't know you Star.
- 8:01Speaker 6: Trek News all right, So our first news story comes
- 8:07Speaker 6: to us from a trekmovie dot com and we are
- 8:12Speaker 6: getting an update on a rumor that's been going around
- 8:15Speaker 6: for a while. There Star Trek United the upcoming Archer
- 8:20Speaker 6: show allegedly.
- 8:22Speaker 4: I can't keep any of this stuff straight anyway.
- 8:24Speaker 6: I know it's it's just a rumor. Nobody knows if
- 8:27Speaker 6: it's really gonna happen. Well, we got an update from
- 8:29Speaker 6: Scott Bacula himself. He did a recent interview and he
- 8:33Speaker 6: was talking about it. So I will read the quote.
- 8:36Speaker 6: He says, there's an idea that's been suggested. I'm not
- 8:39Speaker 6: actively involved. A lot of fans would like to see
- 8:42Speaker 6: more Star Trek and perhaps see Archer be involved, but
- 8:46Speaker 6: there are new people in charge of the franchise and
- 8:49Speaker 6: new owners of the studio. The franchise would be benefited
- 8:52Speaker 6: from arrest after Enterprise, and there has been some fatigue
- 8:56Speaker 6: with the number of shows and movies, and that maybe
- 8:59Speaker 6: what's happening. Nothing is on my radar right now, but
- 9:03Speaker 6: I know better than to say never.
- 9:05Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 9:09Speaker 4: It's so so Bacula is as honest as Archer.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Yes, he's like a yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 6: I mean, if they don't do this within the next
- 9:21Speaker 6: ten years, I don't think they'll ever do it with him.
- 9:23Speaker 4: It was very diplomatic of him too.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 4: He basically said, well, you know, the last show sucked,
- 9:29Speaker 4: so I don't know what's gonna happen.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, people are tired of the franchise right now
- 9:35Speaker 1: and they need a break. Yeah, good morning, Jacob, Good
- 9:39Speaker 1: morning Jacob.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Dog names put them up.
- 9:41Speaker 6: Yeah, there you go. You pause up, all right. So yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 6: that's that story, all right. Our next new story comes
- 9:49Speaker 6: to us from Vice. And this is something I never heard.
- 9:53Speaker 6: I don't know, maybe you guys heard this, But did
- 9:55Speaker 6: you know Eddie Murphy was almost a part of Star Trek? Yes, okay,
- 9:59Speaker 6: you knew this. Yes, at the time I think it
- 10:04Speaker 6: was it was still Paramount.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Yeah, Paramount's two biggest assets at the time were Star
- 10:09Speaker 4: Trek and Eddie Murphy. They had like a three picture
- 10:11Speaker 4: deal with Eddie Murphy, and Eddie Murphy liked Star Trek.
- 10:14Speaker 4: So I think the Chilean Taylor character was it reworked
- 10:22Speaker 4: version of of what his character was supposed to be.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Correct.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, he was supposed to be the doctor in
- 10:30Speaker 6: Star Trek for the Search for Whales and uh that's right.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Right, also known as Star Trek for the Funny One.
- 10:39Speaker 1: The funny one, right, the one with the whales all
- 10:41Speaker 1: of that.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was supposed to be that character
- 10:44Speaker 6: and apparently, like they presented him the idea, he liked it,
- 10:48Speaker 6: but he said, I want to read a script first.
- 10:50Speaker 6: So they eventually got him a script and he didn't
- 10:53Speaker 6: really jive with it. He ended up making something else
- 10:56Speaker 6: and so then they had to rework it again because
- 10:58Speaker 6: they didn't have Eddie Murphy.
- 10:59Speaker 5: So oh, I think Dan just decided he wanted to.
- 11:07Speaker 1: It's time for the dog.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Okay, Okayce speaking of Star Trek four, can I interject
- 11:13Speaker 3: something sure?
- 11:14Speaker 5: Or do I or do I to show?
- 11:16Speaker 1: I mean that's what we do here.
- 11:17Speaker 4: So did you raise your hand?
- 11:19Speaker 3: Well, yes, in the chat, I'll raise my hand. In
- 11:22Speaker 3: the chat you spoke, you said start Trek four. At
- 11:25Speaker 3: the party last night. They had games and prizes. They
- 11:30Speaker 3: they set up these elaborate like storefronts from the eighties
- 11:34Speaker 3: KB toys and and like music places and stuff.
- 11:38Speaker 5: It was very elaborate.
- 11:40Speaker 3: And when we did these like costly not costing, but
- 11:44Speaker 3: contests and stuff of what we knew about the birthday
- 11:47Speaker 3: Boy and what we knew about the eighties.
- 11:48Speaker 5: And I won a couple of things.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I won this really nice plate from uh Star Trek four.
- 11:58Speaker 3: All right, so yeah, this one of the prizes they had.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Are you going to are you gonna take it?
- 12:06Speaker 5: No, it's it? And then I got a little kirk
- 12:08Speaker 5: uh Yeah. So they're they're big sci fi Star Trek fans.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You know, comic book fans and stuff. So they just
- 12:16Speaker 3: had a bunch of stuff that they were given away
- 12:18Speaker 3: as like prizes and things. That's really cool. Yeah, so
- 12:24Speaker 3: enough about me, what do you think about me?
- 12:27Speaker 1: And there you go? All right, our last news story coach.
- 12:29Speaker 6: So it's also from trekmovie dot com and we're getting
- 12:33Speaker 6: a little bit of what could have been would Star
- 12:36Speaker 6: Trek Discovery. So recently, the original show creator, yeah, the
- 12:42Speaker 6: original show creator, Brian Fuller posted on his social media
- 12:47Speaker 6: what it would have looked like if Laurence Fishburne was
- 12:51Speaker 6: part of Star Trek Discovery. Apparently he was originally in
- 12:54Speaker 6: it in one of the earlier conceptions of the show,
- 12:57Speaker 6: and he was going to be in it, and so.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 13:00Speaker 6: This is the concept art of what he would have
- 13:03Speaker 6: looked like as a Klingon m and then there's a
- 13:08Speaker 6: bigger look.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Yeah. For those of you.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Listening, it's just concept art. It's uh, it's kind of different.
- 13:16Speaker 6: It's like a cling on with half a chest plate
- 13:19Speaker 6: kind of.
- 13:21Speaker 4: It's it's like a Spartan Klingon. Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I think he would have made a pretty bad ass,
- 13:26Speaker 3: like Elder Klingon.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Yeah, with that voice, you know.
- 13:31Speaker 6: I mean, I don't see Laurence fishburn in this picture.
- 13:34Speaker 6: I think it's just a generic concept art. But because
- 13:38Speaker 6: sometimes with concept art, they they'll draw the person within there,
- 13:41Speaker 6: so they really get an idea.
- 13:43Speaker 1: But I didn't.
- 13:44Speaker 5: I don't.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah hmm, okay, yeah, so there you go.
- 13:50Speaker 6: I just thought that was kind of interesting. You know,
- 13:53Speaker 6: the Discovery Klingons would have looked even crazier.
- 13:56Speaker 4: So I would have preferred that right there over what
- 13:59Speaker 4: we got, right.
- 14:00Speaker 6: Yeah, at least it was in the wheelhouse, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 6: but oh no, Jazz was good morning? Did Scott kidnap
- 14:11Speaker 6: a goost from another podcast?
- 14:12Speaker 5: Again? I'm starting a new podcast. It's with the Private Investigators.
- 14:21Speaker 6: Okay, all right, Oh well you guys ready for the
- 14:26Speaker 6: main topic.
- 14:27Speaker 8: Let's do it.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Okay, fun will now comments?
- 14:36Speaker 4: All right, what is that You're gonna get a copyright strike?
- 14:40Speaker 5: Oh no, we won't, not if we talk over it.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Okay, that's how that works.
- 14:48Speaker 5: It is. I've done the research. That is how that works.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Okay, well, all right, So this is Strange New World
- 14:53Speaker 6: season four, episode two, the Griffin incident.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Uh the little log line I have said.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Talk.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Bored ship, all right, where an old becomes a survival crisis.
- 15:10Speaker 1: That's right.
- 15:14Speaker 6: This this is basically a ghost story. It's a ghost ship.
- 15:18Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know how you do a ghost
- 15:20Speaker 6: ship without doctor Crusher.
- 15:22Speaker 5: But oh god you.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah the horror movie.
- 15:31Speaker 5: I hated it.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't just dislike it. It wasn't just like a
- 15:35Speaker 3: bad episode. Okay, So let me qualify this with I
- 15:39Speaker 3: can't stand that genre of episode movie anything I don't like.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I don't like suspense, like that kind of stuff, creepy,
- 15:47Speaker 3: not because it scares me. But just because I'm bored.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I I can't stand it. So it's it. It it it.
- 15:55Speaker 3: It made me upset, It made me bored, it it
- 15:58Speaker 3: made me wish I was watching something else.
- 16:00Speaker 5: I just I was.
- 16:03Speaker 3: I had a reaction to it that was very negative.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Other than that, I don't really have any strong opinions.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't mind the genre, okay, but there was
- 16:17Speaker 4: no resolution to the story.
- 16:20Speaker 5: It was.
- 16:22Speaker 4: In order for it to be excuse me, I feel like,
- 16:26Speaker 4: in order for it to be Star Trek, there has
- 16:29Speaker 4: to be some sort of science based resolution. We've had.
- 16:35Speaker 4: We've had ghosts before that turned out to be aliens
- 16:39Speaker 4: of a different type that we weren't aware of that
- 16:42Speaker 4: you know, appear to be ghosts because of the type
- 16:44Speaker 4: of aliens there we you know, we've had that. There
- 16:46Speaker 4: was nothing. There was no resolution to it. It was, hey,
- 16:50Speaker 4: there's a ghost on the ship. Nobody knows why. Yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 4: you know, not to be a broken record, but we
- 16:57Speaker 4: got ten episodes. We got tenisodes and you just wasted one, right.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:04Speaker 6: The reactions on social media, because I asked people what they.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Thought, everybody hates it?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Well, no, it was mixed. There were some people who
- 17:12Speaker 1: loved it, but there they were did not enjoy it.
- 17:17Speaker 6: I so I looked up a little bit about how
- 17:20Speaker 6: this episode came to be, and this was supposed to
- 17:24Speaker 6: be the fourth episode.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It wasn't supposed to be the second one. So that
- 17:30Speaker 1: was interesting to me.
- 17:31Speaker 6: Uh, let me just throw out a theory here, tinfoil
- 17:35Speaker 6: hat theory, Like, I have nothing to base this on
- 17:37Speaker 6: other than they went from four to two. I know
- 17:42Speaker 6: that with most streaming shows, the first couple of weeks
- 17:45Speaker 6: are the most popular and then they kind of niper
- 17:48Speaker 6: off and then people eventually they get back around to
- 17:50Speaker 6: watch them. My thought was because they keep bringing up
- 17:54Speaker 6: Division twelve, it's basically Star Trek X Files, This to
- 18:00Speaker 6: me felt like a backdoor pilot. Yes, they wanted to
- 18:03Speaker 6: see and especially putting it earlier in the season, could
- 18:07Speaker 6: they get people interested? Would they get people wanting like,
- 18:09Speaker 6: oh I want Star Trek Division twelve and maybe Garners
- 18:12Speaker 6: some sort of Yeah?
- 18:14Speaker 4: I agree. I felt that too. The problem is we
- 18:18Speaker 4: already know that it's this season and next season for
- 18:22Speaker 4: this show, and then it's done. We know because of
- 18:25Speaker 4: what's up with the Mount that like there's nothing, there's
- 18:30Speaker 4: nothing planned right now. So it's like, you know, and
- 18:34Speaker 4: they're talking about you know, there's rumblings of a full
- 18:36Speaker 4: on reboot. So pitching other shows at this point just
- 18:42Speaker 4: seems kind of out of place. And you know, I'm
- 18:47Speaker 4: gonna do what I do all the time, where I
- 18:50Speaker 4: take the episode and I fix it. Okay, At this
- 18:55Speaker 4: point in the Star Trek timeline, we don't know when
- 19:02Speaker 4: first contact with Beta said occurred, right, No, I don't
- 19:09Speaker 4: think so, okay, So this would be the perfect opportunity
- 19:14Speaker 4: to explore that. Imagine there was some sort of Okay,
- 19:19Speaker 4: So this ship was farrying refugees from a colony, a
- 19:27Speaker 4: Betazoid colony Betazoid is they're not members of the Federation yet,
- 19:31Speaker 4: but you know, they live right next door, and there
- 19:35Speaker 4: was a distress call from the colony and whatever. So
- 19:40Speaker 4: this ship picks up six hundred Betazoids who they're ferrying
- 19:45Speaker 4: them back to the home world, and because of some
- 19:48Speaker 4: virus or whatever that they picked up, six hundred Betazoids
- 19:53Speaker 4: die on this ship. Now, these are telepaths. Having six
- 20:01Speaker 4: hundred telepaths die in the same place, that's gotta do something.
- 20:07Speaker 4: And you could write a story about that. You can
- 20:12Speaker 4: explain why this ship is haunted. Why these things are
- 20:15Speaker 4: happening because through their investigation, they find out, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 4: I was six hundred telepaths died in this place. That's
- 20:20Speaker 4: that's gotta you know, just I know, I'm just saying
- 20:23Speaker 4: that there was nothing. Yeah, there was there was nothing.
- 20:26Speaker 4: You told this story and in the end you didn't
- 20:29Speaker 4: explain what happened, and because of that, it's kind of meaningless.
- 20:33Speaker 5: M h.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Yeah. We find out, you know, Perk's destined to be
- 20:36Speaker 4: a shitty dad. All right, we knew that.
- 20:38Speaker 5: That's not new.
- 20:39Speaker 1: We knew that.
- 20:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I So okay, this like when this first happened,
- 20:48Speaker 6: this immediately kind of annoyed me.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Is they they go to the Griffin, right.
- 20:54Speaker 6: They've got their little like mass because they're like life
- 20:57Speaker 6: supports down. How does this thing has gravity? How are
- 21:00Speaker 6: we just walking around no problem? But they don't have
- 21:03Speaker 6: their EV suits on and they're saying there's no life support.
- 21:06Speaker 6: So wouldn't they be like frozen in there?
- 21:08Speaker 4: Yea?
- 21:09Speaker 1: In space?
- 21:10Speaker 4: That was That was That was like a budgeting thing.
- 21:15Speaker 4: I think it's like, what's you know, costs a lot
- 21:18Speaker 4: of money to pull out the EV suits?
- 21:20Speaker 5: Right? That was the all of these characters.
- 21:23Speaker 4: So instead it's like, wow, can we just put a
- 21:26Speaker 4: little like mask on them?
- 21:27Speaker 5: I can.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I can go to a medical supply store.
- 21:31Speaker 5: Right, like.
- 21:32Speaker 3: From Empire Strikes Back when they're walking around on the asteroid.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Can we get something like that?
- 21:38Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:38Speaker 3: That looked cheap, Everybodyeah, go go to a seafaps supply store.
- 21:42Speaker 5: Yeah, see what they got.
- 21:43Speaker 4: The nerds believed that in nineteen eighty.
- 21:45Speaker 5: They'll believe this now right right?
- 21:49Speaker 6: No, I know, and and like that's what I'm complaining about,
- 21:52Speaker 6: unbelievable as they have ghosts ownership like you know, Yeah,
- 21:56Speaker 6: but I like your idea of like a betazoid or
- 21:58Speaker 6: maybe like there's one that's on the ship and he's
- 22:02Speaker 6: got issues and so he can read their minds and
- 22:05Speaker 6: he's putting the those projections in their head something like that.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Or he's the last he's the last one. He had
- 22:11Speaker 4: six he had six hundred of them die in front
- 22:14Speaker 4: of him for whatever reason. He's he's immune to Maybe
- 22:17Speaker 4: he infected them, but he's immune to it. Yeah, And
- 22:20Speaker 4: his his intense guilt along with their their psyche, is
- 22:26Speaker 4: being layered on top of him because they they you know,
- 22:31Speaker 4: passed in his presence. That caused him to go crazy,
- 22:34Speaker 4: and he's like a super telepath now yea.
- 22:39Speaker 3: And they've done episodes where Betazois went crazy. I mean,
- 22:41Speaker 3: Suitor was a betazoid from Void.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, man, that's a deep cut.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Thank you, Alan.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Suitor was his first name, LN And I've often wondered
- 22:54Speaker 4: wondered if that's short for Donald.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Yes, it was a traditional fatasoid name.
- 23:03Speaker 9: It is.
- 23:03Speaker 5: It is, right, that's right, just like Deanna.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 1: So okay, so we all kind of basically felt the
- 23:12Speaker 1: same about this episode that it was like not the best. Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Well what what Dan said was, you know, was pretty apt.
- 23:20Speaker 3: They've got ten episodes and they wasted one.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you wasted of the season.
- 23:26Speaker 3: And Daniel, I liked your guests, like, you know where
- 23:30Speaker 3: you were like maybe this is kind of a back
- 23:32Speaker 3: you know, back door to this and and.
- 23:35Speaker 5: I know you say that was kind of out there.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You're like you're putting your your tinfoil hat on, but
- 23:40Speaker 3: you know, kind of like what doctor McCoy said. To
- 23:42Speaker 3: paraphrase doctor McCoy, I trust your guesses more than most
- 23:47Speaker 3: people's facts about stuff like this.
- 23:48Speaker 1: So it seems so ham fisted, like that's gotta do.
- 23:53Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 23:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know, we were going, you know, when
- 23:57Speaker 3: they first said it, like wait, section twelve divisions, everybody,
- 24:01Speaker 3: everybody thought about.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Section thirty one. It's like, okay, how many? How many?
- 24:05Speaker 5: Crazy out of there?
- 24:07Speaker 3: And I even did a like because section thirty one
- 24:09Speaker 3: is from section thirty one of the Federation Charter. So
- 24:12Speaker 3: I went to see if there was a section twelve
- 24:14Speaker 3: of the Federation Charter.
- 24:15Speaker 4: It's not Section twelve though, it's division Division.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Twelve, Division twelve, okay, yeah yeah, so.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 6: I never say yeah, they never say it's a ghost,
- 24:31Speaker 6: they never say it's an alien. They just it's open
- 24:33Speaker 6: to your interpretation. Yeah, yeah, whatever is happening there. I mean,
- 24:38Speaker 6: they very clearly wanted us to want a division twelve show.
- 24:44Speaker 6: I did see some of those comments on social media, like, oh,
- 24:47Speaker 6: I would love a Division twelve show.
- 24:49Speaker 1: You don't even know what it is.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Yeah, you don't know what division twelve is. It's yeah,
- 24:55Speaker 5: probably just a bunch of nerds.
- 24:56Speaker 1: It's project, yeah, that's all.
- 25:00Speaker 5: It would be a.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Bunch of nerds doing a podcast about Federation stuff.
- 25:06Speaker 4: So what I do want to know more about is
- 25:10Speaker 4: tell me more about beaming someone into themselves? How does
- 25:13Speaker 4: that work?
- 25:15Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 25:16Speaker 4: And that sounds painful?
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I kept thinking about that scene from Star
- 25:22Speaker 3: Trek one. Yeah, oh yeah, what we got back didn't
- 25:26Speaker 3: live long thankfully.
- 25:29Speaker 4: Yeah mm hmm, all right, I am hitting the hard stop.
- 25:38Speaker 4: But before I go, I will say Spider Man mm hmmm,
- 25:44Speaker 4: two thumbs up.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I know, I know.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I know, I've got I've got already, so I'm not gonna.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I'm not gonna spoil it for you. I will say
- 25:58Speaker 4: that the post credits scene blew me away. They're really
- 26:04Speaker 4: leaning into this multiverse thing. So when Ezra Miller and
- 26:07Speaker 4: Michael Keaton show up with a bull of spaghetti, it.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Was just.
- 26:13Speaker 4: That's right, all right, guys, I gotta.
- 26:21Speaker 5: We want pictures.
- 26:22Speaker 4: If you will post, I will post some pictures. So
- 26:25Speaker 4: live long and prosper talk soon.
- 26:30Speaker 1: By all right.
- 26:33Speaker 5: So, oh bless him.
- 26:37Speaker 1: That's so bunny.
- 26:41Speaker 5: So yeah, this this like that? Okay. Also, it felt
- 26:50Speaker 5: like they have done this before.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Well yeah, I mean they've done so many episodes of
- 26:55Speaker 6: Start You're gonna repeat yourself.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And we just didn't need another creepy episode like this
- 27:04Speaker 3: Strange New Worlds didn't need it, and that's.
- 27:07Speaker 1: It's not that.
- 27:09Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not that to me. It's not that you
- 27:11Speaker 6: didn't need it. It's as much as you needed to
- 27:14Speaker 6: put a different spin on it. Just saying it's ghosts
- 27:16Speaker 6: or leaving it up to interpretation, that's not enough.
- 27:21Speaker 1: It's not. It's just like if it was it was
- 27:27Speaker 1: a betazoid.
- 27:28Speaker 6: Or a new species or or something messing with them, right,
- 27:33Speaker 6: like if you Okay, so they have flat out said
- 27:36Speaker 6: that this season is going to be different genres, right
- 27:39Speaker 6: every every episode? Right, yeah, what if you had done something,
- 27:44Speaker 6: We're like, okay, they're being attacked different genres every episode.
- 27:48Speaker 6: It's a new villain, a new new problem. And at
- 27:52Speaker 6: the end of it, they're like, what's going on? We
- 27:55Speaker 6: keep having these weird things and it's like a queue
- 27:59Speaker 6: or some new end to tea that is just experimenting
- 28:02Speaker 6: with them. And that's why they're because then it gives
- 28:05Speaker 6: those new episodes a new light when you watch them later. Right,
- 28:10Speaker 6: and then you could have subtly had that entity like
- 28:13Speaker 6: maybe pop up in the background or something, or it's
- 28:16Speaker 6: really subtle, like they have a whatever, right, yeah, just
- 28:21Speaker 6: to connect it all. It's still episodic. It's still different
- 28:24Speaker 6: but also has a connection because.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Didn't they do an episode where it turns out that
- 28:28Speaker 3: the creepy guys were all human?
- 28:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, okay, uh yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 5: That was one. I don't remember what seriously, I.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Think that was. I think that was Academy.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, the creepy I just yeah, yeah,
- 28:46Speaker 3: I uh wild. Bill says, did we like seeing to
- 28:48Speaker 3: Bring again? And yeah, she's cool. Yeah, she's easy on
- 28:52Speaker 3: the eyes, she's funny.
- 28:55Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 6: You know, we've seen Paul Wesley more and more as Kirk,
- 29:01Speaker 6: and I'm seeing more and more people are like, he's
- 29:03Speaker 6: just not good at it.
- 29:06Speaker 5: What do you think he doesn't have?
- 29:10Speaker 3: I don't think he's got the panache, he doesn't have
- 29:13Speaker 3: the charisma, he doesn't have the attitude. There's something that.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I mean, he's got a little bit of it, but
- 29:20Speaker 3: there's it's not enough. It's he's he's just too vanilla
- 29:23Speaker 3: for kid. He's just like, yeah, there's something missing. He's
- 29:26Speaker 3: just like your run of the mill, decent starfleet officer.
- 29:30Speaker 3: There's yeah, there's no intense emotion behind him. And I
- 29:35Speaker 3: know that was kind of a William Shatner thing, but
- 29:37Speaker 3: even with Chris Pine pelid him there was a sort
- 29:40Speaker 3: of a larger than life part factor in his performance.
- 29:45Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I guess.
- 29:47Speaker 6: Like I wonder though with Paul Lesley specifically, like is
- 29:51Speaker 6: it him or is it like the writing and that
- 29:54Speaker 6: he doesn't get the opportunity to do those things.
- 29:56Speaker 5: It's probably a combination of the two. Yeah, he's too skinny.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's one thing I noticed in this episode too,
- 30:05Speaker 3: is my god, these guys have waistlines of like fourteen
- 30:08Speaker 3: year old girls.
- 30:09Speaker 5: It's it's crazy. Yeah, I uh.
- 30:15Speaker 6: Yeah, And that's a common thing with actors because you
- 30:18Speaker 6: can always layer him up, you.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Know, I get it, Yeah, I get it. But there
- 30:24Speaker 3: aren't any like big dudes. I mean, Pike is kind
- 30:28Speaker 3: of larger, it seems like, but there aren't any big dudes.
- 30:31Speaker 6: Okay, Pike, I imagine in real life is just a
- 30:34Speaker 6: regular sized guy. Comparatively, he looks like a big dude.
- 30:38Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, like, like.
- 30:41Speaker 1: What's his name, Yeah, Ethan Peck. I think is like
- 30:43Speaker 1: probably just a regular sized guy, right, you know, right, Well,
- 30:49Speaker 1: he's a little.
- 30:49Speaker 6: Bit muscular, like we saw him when we saw him
- 30:51Speaker 6: in Chicago. Yeah, Remember he had like a tighter shirt,
- 30:55Speaker 6: and he looked like, oh man, this dude works out right.
- 30:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and then Jess Bush you can leave her back up.
- 31:04Speaker 8: There.
- 31:05Speaker 5: There wasn't I heard some people online saying that there
- 31:07Speaker 5: wasn't enough nurse Chapel. Yeah, there never is? Were you?
- 31:11Speaker 1: Were you the one posting in those comments?
- 31:13Speaker 5: No, I wasn't.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, we could always use more nurse Chapel.
- 31:21Speaker 6: Yeah, Well, maybe I should uh play this one video
- 31:25Speaker 6: I had mentioned that I would. We got a little
- 31:28Speaker 6: behind the scenes clip from this episode that people seem
- 31:33Speaker 6: to enjoy.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 6: So, uh, if you're just listening to the show, you're
- 31:39Speaker 6: gonna wanna go back and watch the YouTube on this
- 31:43Speaker 6: because it's hard to explain what's going on.
- 31:46Speaker 1: But we'll play it. Uh So, there it is, there,
- 31:50Speaker 1: there they are. Let me pull it up.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Pull yeah.
- 31:58Speaker 1: The audio.
- 32:00Speaker 6: Yeah, that might be giving my copy right strike. But yes,
- 32:04Speaker 6: they got all the zombie people to do the thriller
- 32:07Speaker 6: dance right right.
- 32:09Speaker 3: So it's it's the cast and most of the zombie people.
- 32:12Speaker 3: And it looks like is that who's the dude in
- 32:14Speaker 3: the glasses?
- 32:15Speaker 5: Is that that?
- 32:16Speaker 1: I thought that was Kurtsman at first, too.
- 32:19Speaker 3: It's not it looks like it's not somebody who wishes it. Okay,
- 32:24Speaker 3: he's just trying to kiss Kurtzman's ass.
- 32:26Speaker 5: I got you.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Well, I mean he's a tall white dude with thick glasses.
- 32:31Speaker 1: The glasses, Yeah, that's all it is.
- 32:35Speaker 5: It's it's Christina Chang.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I think it's just Christina Chan from the main cast.
- 32:40Speaker 3: And then all the zombie people and they're doing there,
- 32:43Speaker 3: they're doing the thriller dance.
- 32:45Speaker 5: They look like they're having a good time.
- 32:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, how could you not with all those
- 32:49Speaker 6: zombie looking people.
- 32:52Speaker 5: And they posted this on YouTube, so yeah, you know,
- 32:54Speaker 5: if you'll have to go on YouTube and check this out.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's in our Facebook.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Group, Okay, okay, yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 3: So I mean they looked like they had a good
- 33:02Speaker 3: time filming this. I mean, how do you I don't know,
- 33:06Speaker 3: like filming.
- 33:07Speaker 5: You know. I used to think filming like.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Uh, Special Victims Unit has got to be a different
- 33:13Speaker 3: vibe than filming Star Trek or Big Bang Theory. Oh yeah,
- 33:18Speaker 3: but with Star Trek it they're taking such big swings
- 33:21Speaker 3: one way and the other. You know, filming this. I
- 33:24Speaker 3: wonder if filming this was funny to the to the
- 33:27Speaker 3: cast or if it was creepy or just another day
- 33:30Speaker 3: at the office.
- 33:31Speaker 5: You know, Y got it. From a psychological standpoint, this
- 33:37Speaker 5: has got to take.
- 33:37Speaker 6: Its I mean, at some point you got to cut loose, right,
- 33:41Speaker 6: see you gotta well yeah, yeah, yeah, And then they're
- 33:45Speaker 6: there for twelve or fourteen hour days probably sure, and
- 33:49Speaker 6: prosthetics and everything.
- 33:50Speaker 5: So sure you need a break, yeah, i'd imagine.
- 33:55Speaker 1: So yeah, well, should we get to listener feedback?
- 34:00Speaker 5: Yeah, let's do it.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Okay, listener feedback? All right, so oh that's still up there.
- 34:12Speaker 1: That should not be okay.
- 34:15Speaker 6: So yeah, so you can get a hold of us
- 34:17Speaker 6: on our social media's we have that everywhere trek cast, TNNG,
- 34:23Speaker 6: We're on Facebook, we're Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, all that stuff. Also,
- 34:32Speaker 6: we did get a voicemail, so cool. Yeah, let's let's
- 34:36Speaker 6: play the voicemail. Jazmaz are already waiting, so we'll get
- 34:39Speaker 6: the chazbez after the voicemail.
- 34:40Speaker 1: So let's do that.
- 34:43Speaker 8: So episode two star Trek Horizon Event episode It was fun.
- 34:53Speaker 8: Didn't expect it, but fun. Anyways, did anyone else?
- 34:58Speaker 4: Was come one.
- 35:00Speaker 8: Wondering if if Scotty was there, would he rig up
- 35:03Speaker 8: a phaser, tri quarder and something else to make a
- 35:06Speaker 8: proton pact. I thought that might have been interesting.
- 35:13Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah maybe so yeah, Scotty with the proteon back
- 35:18Speaker 6: would have been great. That's a voicemail. You can always
- 35:21Speaker 6: leave with a voicemail as well. Five seven zero sixty
- 35:23Speaker 6: six one zero zero zero one. It's five seven zero
- 35:27Speaker 6: six six one zero zero zero one, and we'll animate
- 35:31Speaker 6: you into a fun little creature.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Just like that. I guess that was a FROSTBACKO five.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I would imagine, so I believe that was the case.
- 35:38Speaker 5: And uh yeah, thank you for the voicemail. Yeah, definitely,
- 35:41Speaker 5: thank you so much more.
- 35:42Speaker 3: And you know, he Daniel mentioned all the the social
- 35:45Speaker 3: media stuff, please get on that and and give it,
- 35:48Speaker 3: you know, do the likes and the comments and stuff.
- 35:50Speaker 3: When you do, you know, it just perpetuates the algorithm,
- 35:55Speaker 3: and you know, we get to get more more more
- 35:59Speaker 3: eyes on it, and stuff like that just makes it
- 36:01Speaker 3: everything bigger.
- 36:02Speaker 6: Oh, frostpect. The puppet episode apparently is a transporter accident.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Each episode is a genre. Yeah they've said that, so yes, yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 5: The transporter, Yes, yeah, okay.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Somehow transporter turns into a puppet.
- 36:15Speaker 5: So it's just good science.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Yeah, why not?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, when the Heisenberg compensator fails and you
- 36:24Speaker 3: have to uh, you have to get another pattern from
- 36:27Speaker 3: the buffer. You know, it's just it just makes good sense.
- 36:33Speaker 3: It's directly from the Trek technical manual about if if
- 36:36Speaker 3: if you, if the Heisenberg compensator fails and you fail
- 36:39Speaker 3: to reinitialize the pattern from the buffer, it will result
- 36:43Speaker 3: in cloth type hand up your butt, puppets. It's I
- 36:47Speaker 3: quoted it for Batim from the Star Trek next.
- 36:49Speaker 6: That's right, that's right. You didn't just make that up
- 36:51Speaker 6: at all. No, of course, Yeah, you says is this
- 36:54Speaker 6: a blue Bloods podcast?
- 36:55Speaker 1: Tom?
- 36:55Speaker 5: Is that you? Yeah? Yeah, that's very well.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Yeah, here we go. All the glasses gone, all right,
- 37:03Speaker 1: and with.
- 37:03Speaker 3: The headset, I kind of look like Thomas Magnum when
- 37:06Speaker 3: he's in the helicopter.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Yeah. If that's what you need to tell yourself.
- 37:10Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what that's what I need to tell myself.
- 37:12Speaker 6: Okay, all right, let's bring in jazzmine. These poor guys
- 37:15Speaker 6: been waiting, not in the celestial temple this time.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah, the profits kicked you out.
- 37:22Speaker 9: Yes, I've been bad.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Yeah, do any do any parties in the celestial temple.
- 37:29Speaker 9: Yeah, don't drink too much.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't like that.
- 37:34Speaker 5: Man, what Scott, Yeah, I am for higher.
- 37:42Speaker 9: Scott Thomas or Scott tom or I'm trying to think
- 37:46Speaker 9: that it should label you. I wish you had the detachable.
- 37:54Speaker 5: If you can.
- 37:55Speaker 9: On the D nine episode, everything just detached.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Right right A magnum Yeah, yeah, my wife mentioned something about, Yeah,
- 38:05Speaker 3: I wish we could just add it back. Don't worry
- 38:10Speaker 3: a couple of weeks, you won't even notice.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Wow.
- 38:15Speaker 6: They obviously enjoyed filming different styles. Yeah, I bet it's fun.
- 38:19Speaker 9: Yeah. I mean it's fun to do that if you
- 38:22Speaker 9: have longer seasons.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:24Speaker 9: I was like, when you only have ten episode seasons,
- 38:27Speaker 9: you can't really film in you know.
- 38:30Speaker 6: Yeah, for them as actors, like, it's got to be
- 38:34Speaker 6: fun to change things, you know.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah, because right now, we've only had just over a
- 38:40Speaker 3: season's worth of episodes of all of strange New worlds,
- 38:44Speaker 3: right if we're going from the olden times? Yeah, yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 3: twenty six, twenty six, twenty seven episodes. You know, we've
- 38:51Speaker 3: in it's weird thirty one episodes. When you go.
- 38:54Speaker 9: Back and you watch those, you're like, oh my gosh,
- 38:57Speaker 9: I'm still on first season.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Right, yeah.
- 39:00Speaker 9: Yeah, and you think of this, you're like, wow, most
- 39:02Speaker 9: season was short and that's been five years ago.
- 39:05Speaker 1: So yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 9: And I listened to uh oh, the director of this episode.
- 39:12Speaker 5: She is.
- 39:14Speaker 9: Working with Mike Flanagan, if you know who that is. Yeah, yeah,
- 39:18Speaker 9: so flan against Real Popular on Netflix. He's done Haunting
- 39:23Speaker 9: on Hillhouse and.
- 39:25Speaker 6: He's gonna do the upcoming Clay Base movie. At least
- 39:27Speaker 6: you wrote the script for it.
- 39:29Speaker 9: Yeah, and plan against Real Popular on Netflix. He's made
- 39:32Speaker 9: him a lot of money, and he's done Midnight Mass
- 39:36Speaker 9: which I think the other one he did, but she's
- 39:39Speaker 9: doing it, I guess, helping him out. And she's doing
- 39:41Speaker 9: the Carry TV show Stephen King's.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Care Oh yeah yeah.
- 39:46Speaker 9: And I listened to her and she said what she
- 39:49Speaker 9: wanted to do on this episode was make this episode
- 39:51Speaker 9: kind of like the Overlook Hotel from the Shining Oh.
- 39:56Speaker 9: And I was like I could see it, you know,
- 39:59Speaker 9: just like kind.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Of yeah, I think yeah.
- 40:03Speaker 9: I was like okay, and she's like a little event horizon,
- 40:05Speaker 9: little this and that. She just kind of picked out
- 40:07Speaker 9: all the horror stuff, but she didn't want her main
- 40:10Speaker 9: thing was she didn't want there to be a conclusion,
- 40:13Speaker 9: and that's what I kind of wanted. It was the
- 40:16Speaker 9: science conclusion, like how do we figure this way out?
- 40:20Speaker 9: Maybe so she wanted to ye.
- 40:23Speaker 5: I think.
- 40:25Speaker 6: Okay, So even if you didn't want a conclusion, you
- 40:28Speaker 6: still needed to give some sort of satisfying ending. So
- 40:32Speaker 6: you could have been like, whatever that thing is that's
- 40:36Speaker 6: on that ship, it pulls you yeah, no, no, no,
- 40:40Speaker 6: like it knows to pull from your darkest fears, right yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 6: and so maybe it's eating your fear like that's like
- 40:48Speaker 6: it right it it loves to eat fear.
- 40:51Speaker 1: And that right.
- 40:52Speaker 6: So so something along those lines you needed to tie
- 40:56Speaker 6: that thread. So at least we learned something about it
- 41:00Speaker 6: as opposed to be like I have no idea what
- 41:02Speaker 6: this is, figure it out.
- 41:04Speaker 1: You know, that's not satisfying. You had to give us something.
- 41:09Speaker 5: Yes, I totally agree.
- 41:12Speaker 9: It's like it was more body horror and I was,
- 41:15Speaker 9: you know, pipe cutting his fingers off. I was like, okay, okay,
- 41:19Speaker 9: it's kind of.
- 41:20Speaker 5: Yeah, that was that was.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I mean, they were going for something, and I think
- 41:24Speaker 3: they went in particular scene you know.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but even they gave me.
- 41:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I could not wait for this episode to be over.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, first first time.
- 41:41Speaker 9: And then I finished it the next day and then
- 41:43Speaker 9: I was like, okay, so yeah, it's all right episode.
- 41:46Speaker 9: You know, if you're into horror, this is for you. Yeah,
- 41:49Speaker 9: but you know, I like horror movies, but I don't
- 41:52Speaker 9: like this type before.
- 41:53Speaker 6: So well, I I know they they released this episode early,
- 41:56Speaker 6: like if you went to comic com last week, you
- 41:58Speaker 6: could have seen it in a movie theater with people.
- 42:00Speaker 6: And I feel like watching this in a movie theater
- 42:03Speaker 6: probably would have been better just because you're in a
- 42:06Speaker 6: dark movie theater, big screen. You're watching this horror movie unfold.
- 42:10Speaker 6: That's probably a better experience than me at home on
- 42:13Speaker 6: a random afternoon watching it on my TV at my house.
- 42:16Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, I board and you know, watch it again.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Oh is it?
- 42:23Speaker 5: Yeah? Okay, this is her genre.
- 42:26Speaker 9: Okay, okay, right now.
- 42:30Speaker 6: I mean I like horror too, but I don't know
- 42:32Speaker 6: like I have my Yeah, I'm snobby about my horror.
- 42:37Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, you're such a snob, Daniel.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I don't. Yeah, clever, I'm hoping next week's better.
- 42:53Speaker 5: So yeah, and I guess that.
- 42:58Speaker 9: You know, they did comic Collin and everything, and they said, uh,
- 43:02Speaker 9: season two of Academy is gayer.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yes, I did see that. Yes, yes, the Bigger and Gear.
- 43:10Speaker 9: Yeahge and cancer.
- 43:13Speaker 6: That's right, which I I do have a cousin who
- 43:16Speaker 6: went Bigger and Gear, So I feel like I know
- 43:21Speaker 6: what to expect.
- 43:24Speaker 9: It'll come back on those g LP ones.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Then it will be like I'm smaller and Gear. I'm
- 43:30Speaker 1: smaller Gear.
- 43:37Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if we're going to gain
- 43:38Speaker 3: listeners or lose listeners.
- 43:40Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I don't know whatever.
- 43:43Speaker 5: I don't want to see.
- 43:44Speaker 6: The Academy is in such a weird spot because they've
- 43:51Speaker 6: already announced that it's over, so.
- 43:53Speaker 1: A lot of people back girl it.
- 43:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean people that doesn't make people want to watch.
- 43:58Speaker 6: Why would you want to watch the last season if
- 44:00Speaker 6: you know it's over and it doesn't matter, right, it's
- 44:02Speaker 6: a lame duck show and.
- 44:04Speaker 9: They have a ton of tax ride offs if this
- 44:07Speaker 9: paramount deal doesn't go through. Yeah, they've got to figure out.
- 44:13Speaker 9: I mean, they've wasted so much money in the last
- 44:16Speaker 9: few months. It's ridiculous.
- 44:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Well, I was reading about like starting in I think
- 44:21Speaker 6: it's in like September. For every every day that the
- 44:26Speaker 6: deal doesn't go through. Uh, Paramount Owes Warner Brothers like
- 44:31Speaker 6: seven million dollars for every day that doesn't go through,
- 44:36Speaker 6: and then if the deal ultimately falls apart, they owe
- 44:39Speaker 6: them something like eight eight billion dollars or something like that.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Yeah, like Dr Evils, this is what Paramount Owes Paramount
- 44:47Speaker 3: would owe to warn even.
- 44:48Speaker 9: If the deal doesn't go through, you have to pay
- 44:50Speaker 9: eight billion dollars. That's like a breakup fee, which is ridiculous.
- 44:55Speaker 6: Yeah, which from now on, anytime I get in a relationship,
- 44:58Speaker 6: I'm going to establish a breakup fee.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Yeah absolutely, yeah great, yeah, yeah, sure you want to
- 45:04Speaker 5: break up with me, sweetheart, because remember.
- 45:07Speaker 1: There is there is the fee.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Yeah, oh you're gonna stay, okay, Yeah, that's that's all right.
- 45:12Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah. Things aren't so bad, now, is it.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, so that's so horrible.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean.
- 45:26Speaker 9: You have the government like forced you, like, well, you
- 45:29Speaker 9: guys can't merge, but you got a penalty here of
- 45:32Speaker 9: eight billion dollars because you're trying to pay out another company.
- 45:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:35Speaker 9: Just kind of crazy. It's like wow, that's.
- 45:38Speaker 6: I mean that say what you want about the CEO
- 45:41Speaker 6: of Warner Brothers.
- 45:42Speaker 1: I forget his name.
- 45:44Speaker 6: Yeah, but no Ellison is one of those paramount Yeah,
- 45:49Speaker 6: Zazov Like, look, I get it, people hate that guy
- 45:52Speaker 6: and he's done some terrible things. But man, negotiating that
- 45:55Speaker 6: breakup fee and that daily you know, you owas much
- 46:00Speaker 6: if it doesn't go through, that's genius and that's gotta.
- 46:04Speaker 9: Be and makes money in the back end. Yeah, the
- 46:08Speaker 9: guy just made money.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he just made money left and right.
- 46:12Speaker 9: So he's like good screeching on and pulls the money.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm not happy about it. I'm just saying,
- 46:21Speaker 1: like I as a as a business guy, I respect
- 46:24Speaker 1: that hustle.
- 46:25Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not a business guy, but for a
- 46:27Speaker 6: business guy, respect that hustle. So all right, Well, we
- 46:32Speaker 6: also got Jacob waiting on the line, so we should
- 46:33Speaker 6: probably bring him on.
- 46:34Speaker 9: And there's a comics coming up, and I know it's
- 46:41Speaker 9: a Star Trek comic and it's gonna be Captain Raffi
- 46:44Speaker 9: and Tindy's gonna be on there.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Oh wow, a comic.
- 46:48Speaker 9: So you know Dan's gonna get that one.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Yeah with Tindy. That's crazy.
- 46:55Speaker 9: Yeah, So Tindy will be on there, and it will
- 46:57Speaker 9: be Captain Raffi with Tindy.
- 46:59Speaker 5: So it'd have to be a tendie that was like
- 47:01Speaker 5: in her fifties.
- 47:05Speaker 9: Yeah, this I was wondering.
- 47:06Speaker 6: No, they were about the same age group, because Lower
- 47:10Speaker 6: Decks and Pacarter right around the same timeline.
- 47:12Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, no, Lower right around the movies.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Lower Decks is right around the movie time. Yeah, just
- 47:20Speaker 3: a little after like Insurrection and all that.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Oh okay, okay.
- 47:24Speaker 5: Because remember Riker is captain of the Titan.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Oh that's right, that's right, you're right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 5: So they're they're they're twenty years hard.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, everybody, yeah, everybody from Lower Decks in the
- 47:42Speaker 3: prime time line. Yeah whatever, uh, the twenty twenty fifth
- 47:48Speaker 3: century beginning there, they're they're in their fifties.
- 47:52Speaker 6: Okay, okay, all right, well cool, all right, well thanks
- 47:57Speaker 6: chess biz, good talking to us. Thanks, all right, and
- 48:02Speaker 6: now we got Jacob, so let's bring him on. Jacob,
- 48:05Speaker 6: How are you doing doing good?
- 48:07Speaker 8: How are you guys doing good?
- 48:09Speaker 10: The episode or I watched it early Saturday morning, they're
- 48:13Speaker 10: figured good way to wake up, get a little stirred,
- 48:16Speaker 10: there you go.
- 48:18Speaker 5: Not the way I would want to wake up.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Yeah, uh yeah.
- 48:23Speaker 8: I dropped a few times on the in a few
- 48:25Speaker 8: scenes I knit.
- 48:26Speaker 1: That okay, all right, a little spooky for you.
- 48:30Speaker 8: The whole spot getting his ears cut off was kind
- 48:32Speaker 8: of gruesome.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I was also gruesome body parts in this this episode, yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 8: Man, one episode dinosaurs goes comedy dicks.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I don't know what's next, man.
- 48:49Speaker 3: But so that when they reattached his ear, was that
- 48:52Speaker 3: a reattachment or a regrowth?
- 48:57Speaker 8: Huh?
- 48:59Speaker 3: I don't know that, yeah, because he said at the end,
- 49:04Speaker 3: they feel like my own.
- 49:06Speaker 8: Yeah, prosthetic ears.
- 49:10Speaker 6: But are I mean, are they saying that there was
- 49:13Speaker 6: something there that cut his ear or was he doing
- 49:15Speaker 6: it himself thinking it was someone else doing it?
- 49:19Speaker 3: I thought it was the latter. I thought that he
- 49:22Speaker 3: actually did it himself.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Okay, but in his head it was it was her doing.
- 49:27Speaker 3: In his head, it was somebody else because nobody else
- 49:29Speaker 3: was there, right, none of the crew was it turned out,
- 49:32Speaker 3: were there?
- 49:33Speaker 6: Yeah, that that's kind of what I thought too, But
- 49:35Speaker 6: it wasn't clear. None of it was clear because they
- 49:39Speaker 6: wanted to leave it ambiguous, right.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Because it was one of those ghost people or you know, yeah,
- 49:48Speaker 3: like that last holdout. What was her name, Lieutenant what's
- 49:50Speaker 3: her face? Or Commander's her face, it was the last
- 49:52Speaker 3: holdout of that ship. She actually there in person?
- 49:59Speaker 8: Was anybody actually right?
- 50:02Speaker 3: Is anyone here now who knows simulation?
- 50:07Speaker 6: Yeah, a tree because he's waiting for the return of
- 50:11Speaker 6: Starfleet Academy.
- 50:12Speaker 1: I'm opening the studio, brings it back for a third
- 50:14Speaker 1: and four season.
- 50:15Speaker 6: Buddy, they're not. They've already torn down the sets. Yeah,
- 50:19Speaker 6: for season would make sense, fortunately.
- 50:21Speaker 3: But it's too bad. It could have gotten better. It
- 50:25Speaker 3: could have bad that they jumped the gun on canceling it,
- 50:27Speaker 3: because yeah, forced for four years of the Academy. It
- 50:32Speaker 3: would have been nice to have a nice, full, complete
- 50:34Speaker 3: episode of the end. Yeah, you know, graduation going off
- 50:38Speaker 3: into different ships, you know, that kind of thing.
- 50:41Speaker 5: That would have been a nice Mond.
- 50:43Speaker 8: Academy pretty much a community college. Then yeah, there you
- 50:47Speaker 8: go two reasons.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Well, and did I want Starfleet thirteenth grade?
- 50:55Speaker 3: You know, Jacob, you make a good point because maybe
- 50:58Speaker 3: with this, hey, maybe that's what the showrunners might do
- 51:02Speaker 3: with it is an accelerated program because they just started
- 51:05Speaker 3: it back up and we need we need officers now,
- 51:08Speaker 3: so they're gonna, you know, lean into that. But they
- 51:10Speaker 3: already did they already film it and then they canceled it.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Yes, it's done.
- 51:16Speaker 8: Yeah, they did.
- 51:17Speaker 3: They filmed it, so there's only so much you can
- 51:20Speaker 3: do with reshoots.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Yeah, they were. They were filming season two as season.
- 51:25Speaker 5: One was airing.
- 51:27Speaker 8: Yeah, a lot of hours.
- 51:29Speaker 5: Yeah. So like, do you think they're gonna bring it
- 51:31Speaker 5: closer at the.
- 51:32Speaker 1: End of January?
- 51:34Speaker 8: I think they're just gonna rush it, Yeah.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Because what's gonna see Why if they come out and
- 51:39Speaker 3: the very last episode, the very last scene is all right,
- 51:42Speaker 3: we'll see you next year for our junior year, and
- 51:45Speaker 3: and well we'll reveal this cliffhanger that we just you know, hopefully.
- 51:49Speaker 5: I'm sure they solved it with some reshoots.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Well, so they were.
- 51:54Speaker 6: The rumors are they were supposed to be done before
- 51:56Speaker 6: the new year, before twenty twenty six started.
- 51:59Speaker 1: They didn't.
- 52:00Speaker 6: They went to they went to Christmas holiday break, they
- 52:02Speaker 6: came back, they did like two or three weeks of shooting,
- 52:05Speaker 6: and then that was the end of it. So that,
- 52:07Speaker 6: in theory, would have been enough time because they at
- 52:10Speaker 6: that point they should have known this could be it.
- 52:12Speaker 6: Whether or not they officially knew, they would at least
- 52:15Speaker 6: have had an inkling that, Okay, this is going to
- 52:18Speaker 6: be the end.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Of it, How do we want to end it?
- 52:22Speaker 10: Does Tonny Newsom still doing her show? I don't know
- 52:24Speaker 10: anything a better than other than a comedy.
- 52:26Speaker 6: Right now, those shows are in development, it's all they
- 52:30Speaker 6: get to pitch them and hopefully if Paramount says yes,
- 52:33Speaker 6: and then they did get developed.
- 52:35Speaker 1: But right now, well.
- 52:36Speaker 3: That was a question that was asked uh last month
- 52:39Speaker 3: or the month before when we went to the Capital
- 52:42Speaker 3: City Comic Con, Tawnie Newsom was there and one of
- 52:45Speaker 3: the questions asked to her was what's going on with
- 52:49Speaker 3: are you doing a show? And her answer was basically
- 52:51Speaker 3: a stock Well, we've talked about it, but there's nothing
- 52:53Speaker 3: been confirmed and so far something this rumor and talked
- 52:59Speaker 3: about and I don't have any answers and I can't
- 53:00Speaker 3: confirm anything, And you.
- 53:03Speaker 8: Have to yeah, yeah, does she do anything?
- 53:07Speaker 3: She was like, yeah, yeah, she wanted She said, I
- 53:10Speaker 3: will do if they green lighted, I will jump at
- 53:13Speaker 3: the chance to do any Star Trek show. Yeah, so
- 53:16Speaker 3: she seemed excited to continue doing something stuff Trek.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Well, and you also have to remember too that like
- 53:22Speaker 6: right now, technically Kertzman does not have a new deal
- 53:28Speaker 6: and it doesn't look like like you'll get one. But
- 53:33Speaker 6: I mean, stranger things have happened. They could last minute
- 53:35Speaker 6: say yeah we re signed him because he said he'll
- 53:38Speaker 6: do it for five dollars in a ham sandwich. So sure,
- 53:41Speaker 6: you know, Like it just depends.
- 53:45Speaker 10: I think Dar Trek needs to just take a hiatus
- 53:47Speaker 10: break for a little bit.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I mean, that's what Archer said right in the news.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I think you're right.
- 53:53Speaker 1: I think that's what it needs. I think both.
- 53:56Speaker 6: I think this Star Wars and Doctor Who, all three
- 54:01Speaker 6: of them need to just go away for a while
- 54:03Speaker 6: and then come back.
- 54:05Speaker 5: Come back with a different showrunner. Who is the Picard showrunner?
- 54:11Speaker 1: Oh, Karen Metallas, Yeah, Metallis.
- 54:14Speaker 3: They need to bring Metallis back, Uh to run the show.
- 54:18Speaker 3: They need to bring Freaks back as an executive producer. Yeah,
- 54:22Speaker 3: maybe Tawny Knew some somebody with some you know, fresh
- 54:24Speaker 3: fresh talent, little bit of humor, you know.
- 54:26Speaker 6: I don't know if those guys are the answer. Maybe
- 54:29Speaker 6: maybe it's time for someone completely fresh. Like I would
- 54:33Speaker 6: if it were me, I would hear pitches from everybody
- 54:36Speaker 6: and see what you like the best.
- 54:38Speaker 5: Let's find out what the director of a Star Trek
- 54:41Speaker 5: Nemesis is doing. Yeah, bring bring bring that back.
- 54:46Speaker 8: There you go, Yeah, he should have been the one Academy.
- 54:50Speaker 6: Yeahr star Trek, Michael Bank, We'll put flames on the Enterprise.
- 54:56Speaker 3: For no reason, Abrams back. We need some more Lens
- 55:01Speaker 3: flares more. Yes, Lincoln Park, Leo's flares.
- 55:05Speaker 8: The Beastie Boys place in Lincoln Park, in here in
- 55:07Speaker 8: the air.
- 55:08Speaker 1: I'm hey, I like Lincoln Park. I've seen him in
- 55:10Speaker 1: concerts several times. They're great.
- 55:13Speaker 5: Yeah they are, Yeah, they are, They're awesome.
- 55:17Speaker 8: It's somebody my whole job from about two years ago. Yes, me,
- 55:22Speaker 8: he was a young guy. Yes, it's Lincoln Park classic rock.
- 55:26Speaker 8: I'm like, oh, I'm like, I didn't really wanted to
- 55:29Speaker 8: fight you.
