- 1:26Speaker 3: Today we're going to be romanticizing about college football because
- 1:28Speaker 3: that's all we've done.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's all we've done. For the entire, what would you say,
- 1:31Speaker 2: last eight months, seven months, eight months.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Six, seven? When the football season ended, yeah, from there
- 1:35Speaker 1: it was just a straight shot of being sad with
- 1:37Speaker 1: no good weather.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And just cannot wait for September to take place.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 3: But today, we're going to be talking futures. We're going
- 1:43Speaker 3: to be talking conference champions. We're going to be talking
- 1:45Speaker 3: conference championship games. We're going to be talking about the
- 1:47Speaker 3: final four in the college football playoff. We're going to
- 1:48Speaker 3: be picking national champions. We're going to be picking Heisman winners.
- 1:52Speaker 3: And if you hold us to these picks, shame on you.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Because we're changing our mind all season long. Say it again, though.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Say it again so they understand.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Shame on you if.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You hold us to these picks because we are changing
- 2:02Speaker 3: our mind all season long because romanticizing about college football is...

- 3:02Speaker 3: to start Your most rewarding season of college football. Ever.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Ever. And ever because we get to give away. We
- 3:10Speaker 2: get to give away bonus bets this year.
- 3:11Speaker 1: We're giving up bonus bets every single week of the
- 3:14Speaker 1: college football season. And on the other locker room show,
- 3:16Speaker 1: the NFL, we're doing every single week that week as well.
- 3:18Speaker 2: All people have to do is what, Klump? Start commenting
- 3:22Speaker 2: right now? They engage.
- 3:23Speaker 1: They engage in the YouTube. This is as smooth of
- 3:26Speaker 1: a start as we've ever had to the locker room.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You will comment on the YouTube. We will tell you
- 3:30Speaker 2: each week what to do.
- 3:30Speaker 4: But you will comment and we will pick one.
- 3:33Speaker 2: There we go. We're giving away money all year long.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Before we get into the future, can I just ask
- 3:36Speaker 2: a quick question? Please.
- 3:38Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff going on in college football.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I think we can all use the word broken and
- 3:41Speaker 1: feel very comfortable about that word. Josh Pate, when you're
- 3:45Speaker 1: seeing Cleveland Brown players transferring to LSU and players now
- 3:51Speaker 1: after this 2022 thing has taken place, Where does your
- 3:55Speaker 1: brain go with the state of college football? How bad
- 3:57Speaker 1: do we need you now more than ever?
- 3:58Speaker 2: You see the index finger? I see it moving. Nervous.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I saw when Will was getting through whatever he was
- 4:03Speaker 1: getting through, you just peering at the ground into just
- 4:06Speaker 1: deep thought. And I thought he's got to be thinking
- 4:08Speaker 1: about these kids.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Going from the NFL back to college football. Very much so.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Everyone's been paying attention to some degree to this thing.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Over the last 24 hours is the three of us
- 4:16Speaker 2: are talking here, which is Wednesday morning, mid-morning. And I
- 4:20Speaker 2: only preface it that way because news may break in
- 4:23Speaker 2: the afternoon. The SEC and the Big Ten have swung
- 4:26Speaker 2: a sledgehammer back, in the SEC's case, at some of
- 4:29Speaker 2: their own member institutions. So what you have here, essentially,
- 4:32Speaker 2: for those of you who haven't been keeping up, and
- 4:34Speaker 2: God bless you if you have a life and you
- 4:35Speaker 2: have not been able to keep up with this, the
- 4:37Speaker 2: NCAA did the five-for-five rule. So there is no more
- 4:40Speaker 2: players randomly playing six or seven years for injuries and
- 4:43Speaker 2: all this different kind of stuff. You just got five
- 4:45Speaker 2: years to play. But then they said, however, it's not
- 4:48Speaker 2: going to count for the class of 2022. You guys
- 4:51Speaker 2: are the last class that doesn't get to benefit from this.
- 4:53Speaker 2: And then... there were courts that struck that down. And
- 4:56Speaker 2: then there were guys who had already gone to the
- 4:59Speaker 2: NFL who were on practice squad training camp. They were
- 5:02Speaker 2: going to get cut who said, well, if we would
- 5:04Speaker 2: have known that we may have not gone to the NFL,
- 5:06Speaker 2: we may have stuck around in college. So we're filing
- 5:08Speaker 2: lawsuits too. And then judges sided with the players because
- 5:11Speaker 2: the NCAA is over their life in court cases. And
- 5:14Speaker 2: then everybody said, hold up. Does that mean NFL players?
- 5:18Speaker 2: can be on the field in the NFL one week
- 5:19Speaker 2: and then come back to play college. And programs like
- 5:22Speaker 2: LSU said, well, that's the way we understand it. And
- 5:24Speaker 2: then leagues like the SEC and the Big Ten said,
- 5:27Speaker 2: that's not the way we are going to do business.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And so over the last 24 hours, the Big Ten
- 5:31Speaker 2: came out and said, that's not happening. We got a
- 5:34Speaker 2: policy against that. Then the SEC came out Tuesday evening
- 5:38Speaker 2: and said, that's not the way we're going to do
- 5:40Speaker 2: it either. And if you do do it, and this
- 5:42Speaker 2: is language this morning, I'm literally looking at a tweet
- 5:45Speaker 2: as of this morning, schools that violate the SEC's professional
- 5:48Speaker 2: sports rule will result in 50% season suspension for the
- 5:53Speaker 2: head coach. So if you play a pro player, You,
- 5:57Speaker 2: the head coach at LSU or Auburn or Georgia or wherever,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you're suspended 50% of your season. 50% of that sports
- 6:03Speaker 2: annual operating budget is stripped. That's tens of millions of dollars.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And your SEC voting privileges on business matters are revoked.
- 6:11Speaker 2: So what you have to ask yourself is, will there
- 6:15Speaker 2: be lawsuits countering this? Yes, but it will be players
- 6:18Speaker 2: presumably suing the SEC. And I'm looking at it and
- 6:22Speaker 2: I'm saying, But if Will wants to go back and
- 6:25Speaker 2: play at LSU, but I'm the SEC and I tell you,
- 6:30Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin, that no, I'm holding you responsible. doesn't matter
- 6:34Speaker 2: if he sues me because I'm not taking action against him.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'm threatening action against you. And it feels like a workaround. Famously,
- 6:41Speaker 2: I don't have a law degree, as many people have
- 6:44Speaker 2: pointed out, but it feels like the SEC and the
- 6:46Speaker 2: Big Ten are really comfortable that, yeah, we can flex
- 6:48Speaker 2: in this way. And then the follow-up question, even if
- 6:52Speaker 2: all that was moot, is, is it really worth it
- 6:54Speaker 2: for you to stick your entire program's neck out on
- 6:57Speaker 2: the line and to get some defensive tackle depth, to
- 7:00Speaker 2: get some tight end depth, my answer would be a
- 7:03Speaker 2: quick no. We're going to see what LSU's answer is
- 7:06Speaker 2: and what other programs' answers are.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, because the SEC comes out with their statement. The
- 7:09Speaker 1: Big Ten comes out. There are multiple coaches in the
- 7:11Speaker 1: Big Ten that have already commented on this. And Lane's
- 7:13Speaker 1: sitting there. And I kind of like Lane's approach because
- 7:17Speaker 1: it's Lane Kiffin saying these things. Everyone's like, this has
- 7:20Speaker 1: got to be wrong. But in the world of college
- 7:22Speaker 1: football we live in, with all the gray area that's
- 7:24Speaker 1: taken place, if there's a way to work around a rule,
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's a results-based business.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Let me ask you this. Hang on, I do have
- 7:32Speaker 2: a question. I do have a question. You raised your hand,
- 7:34Speaker 2: so I'll call you. Go ahead.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So legally, it is fair for these players to go back,
- 7:40Speaker 3: but the conferences are saying, here is how we will
- 7:43Speaker 3: impose our policies by punishing you, the head coach, and
- 7:46Speaker 3: the team, even if the player is like, hey, we
- 7:49Speaker 3: can sue or do all these things.
- 7:50Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Kyle Lane's like, in this unique situation for this class,
- 7:55Speaker 3: they're allowed to come back for another year.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And it should be noted it is a unique situation
- 8:01Speaker 2: this won't be a story next year so it is
- 8:03Speaker 2: just right now continue.
- 8:04Speaker 3: So even legally that that is the case the conferences
- 8:08Speaker 3: can still say here's how we will punish you and
- 8:11Speaker 3: your team through our system because they can't just overthrow
- 8:15Speaker 3: what the the court was saying right.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yeah it's like if we had if we had a
- 8:17Speaker 2: weight limit on this show no one can do the
- 8:19Speaker 2: show above 350 pounds okay And then you came into
- 8:23Speaker 2: work weighing 365. And you tried to say, I'm free
- 8:26Speaker 2: to eat whatever I want to. Our bosses here, whoever
- 8:29Speaker 2: that is, could say, well, yeah, you're free to live
- 8:31Speaker 2: however you want to, but there are consequences at our
- 8:33Speaker 2: place of business. But that kind of works because you're
- 8:36Speaker 2: an employee, whereas the players are saying, hey, we're student athletes.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Can you do this to us? And then the league's saying,
- 8:41Speaker 2: we're not even looking at you. We're not even telling
- 8:44Speaker 2: the player they can or can't do something. We're telling
- 8:46Speaker 2: the school, hey, if you play that kid who's legally
- 8:49Speaker 2: allowed to play according to some court, we're going to
- 8:51Speaker 2: punish you. That's kind of what they're doing.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And the conference is able to do that.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Fully able to do that. The conference is, and they're
- 8:57Speaker 2: also not. Here's what's dangerous.
- 8:59Speaker 1: The battle that's taking place is the SEC and the
- 9:01Speaker 1: Bay 10 release statements that we are not going to
- 9:03Speaker 1: do this. The penalties are going to come out. The
- 9:05Speaker 1: coach will be suspended for 50% of the year. All
- 9:07Speaker 1: the things that Josh Peter said. But then there's like
- 9:09Speaker 1: the state of Louisiana, which is its own constitutional republic, right?
- 9:13Speaker 1: There's 50 of them that make up the umbrella of
- 9:14Speaker 1: the United States. They're like, well, we have our own
- 9:16Speaker 1: state laws that we can get a judge to go
- 9:18Speaker 1: sign that say these kids can play. Because going back
- 9:20Speaker 1: to one of the things you said was, In June,
- 9:23Speaker 1: they said you can now do five for five. You
- 9:25Speaker 1: have five years to play five years in college football.
- 9:27Speaker 1: That is how this is now going to work. We're
- 9:28Speaker 1: not going to have 25, 26-year-old football players in college
- 9:31Speaker 1: football anymore. This is how it's going to work. So
- 9:34Speaker 1: I lost my train of thought.
- 9:36Speaker 2: You got it. No, hold on. Give them time. Yep.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Five for five. So yes, 2022. The class of 22
- 9:44Speaker 1: and two, these kids before that ruling that happened in June,
- 9:47Speaker 1: they're like, my only option now is to go try
- 9:49Speaker 1: and make it in the NFL. So these guys go,
- 9:51Speaker 1: they declare for the NFL. They do the combine of
- 9:53Speaker 1: the pro days. They're either drafted late or undrafted. And
- 9:56Speaker 1: it's like, this is the only avenue I had. Now
- 9:59Speaker 1: this thing takes place. where like, Hey, this is the
- 10:01Speaker 1: only rule 2022 is when guys can have that extra year.
- 10:03Speaker 1: That's the last year we're going to deal with it. Now,
- 10:05Speaker 1: all these guys who have had to make decisions when
- 10:07Speaker 1: these rules didn't exist are like, well, I want to
- 10:09Speaker 1: go back to college football and get my draft stock off.
- 10:12Speaker 1: You could probably make more money if you go to
- 10:14Speaker 1: LSU or some of these bigger schools. And so they're
- 10:17Speaker 1: coming back like, yeah, if I'm allowed to do this.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Josh Pate.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Great question here would be, they did this in June?
- 10:24Speaker 2: The NCAA did this in June? Why didn't they just
- 10:26Speaker 2: do it in October where everyone could have a fully
- 10:28Speaker 2: fleshed out plan? Great question, Josh. The answer is nobody
- 10:32Speaker 2: knows what they're doing. Yeah. That is the answer.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Nobody knows what they're doing. In the world of college football,
- 10:36Speaker 1: no one knows what they're doing. Because you see like
- 10:37Speaker 1: Dan Lanning, Dane Lane's like, we're not going to do that.
- 10:40Speaker 1: There's no place for that in college football. If you
- 10:41Speaker 1: declare for the draft, you're done. And college football is
- 10:44Speaker 1: for college football players. High character, principled individual.
- 10:47Speaker 2: High character, principled individual.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Ryan Day, he's in, it's like, okay, if this is
- 10:51Speaker 1: the way college football is moving, we have to evaluate
- 10:53Speaker 1: that and do what's best for our state.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I actually take the side. of Ryan Day. Your newly
- 10:59Speaker 2: found friend, Ryan Day.
- 11:01Speaker 1: My newly found respect for Ryan Day. My newly found
- 11:03Speaker 1: respect for Ryan Day.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You'll make eye contact with him now. You'll do all
- 11:07Speaker 2: the things you would do with someone who you respect.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You did this last year, Josh, and it's a side
- 11:09Speaker 1: camera on the bus. Anyway, if you are a college
- 11:15Speaker 1: football coach of a major program that's trying to win championships,
- 11:18Speaker 1: and this is a possibility to get another player for
- 11:21Speaker 1: another year, why wouldn't you take advantage of that and
- 11:24Speaker 1: do this?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Because... The rules still state you can. Yeah. Morally, I'm
- 11:28Speaker 2: with Dan Lanning.
- 11:29Speaker 1: On like, no, like college football should be for college
- 11:31Speaker 1: football players. And then once you're done, you should go
- 11:34Speaker 1: to the NFL or get a regular job.
- 11:35Speaker 2: So watch this. So here's what I was going to
- 11:37Speaker 2: say like five minutes ago. You played left tackle for
- 11:39Speaker 2: a long time. Pretty high level, right? The highest. What
- 11:44Speaker 2: if a court ruled that holding was legal? what would
- 11:49Speaker 2: you do every play? I would hold. And if someone said,
- 11:53Speaker 2: even though it's legal, you should feel bad about that,
- 11:55Speaker 2: you shouldn't do that, that's against the spirit of the game,
- 11:58Speaker 2: you would say what? I would say make it illegal then,
- 12:00Speaker 2: and I won't do it. That is why I haven't
- 12:02Speaker 2: shamed Lane Kiffin or any of these dudes. You cannot
- 12:05Speaker 2: count on a competitor to voluntarily adhere to some made-up
- 12:10Speaker 2: moral code. First off, everyone's moral code is different, firstly. Secondly,
- 12:15Speaker 2: if you're a competitor, you're not worried about that. A
- 12:17Speaker 2: competitor's job is to test every possible boundary of the
- 12:20Speaker 2: competitive arena. And then if something can't be done, we
- 12:24Speaker 2: have things called rules and then penalties for breaking those rules.
- 12:28Speaker 2: But in college football, what's messed up about our world
- 12:31Speaker 2: is most rules are just found to be illegal in
- 12:33Speaker 2: a court of law. because they're not collectively bargained. And
- 12:36Speaker 2: that's this whole other thing that we don't have time
- 12:38Speaker 2: to get into today. And so the conferences have known
- 12:41Speaker 2: for a while, ultimately, it's going to have to be
- 12:43Speaker 2: us that steps up and polices us instead of counting
- 12:47Speaker 2: on Congress. And that ship hasn't sailed yet. They're still
- 12:50Speaker 2: trying to effort that. But it's the SEC and the
- 12:53Speaker 2: Big Ten who have finally done over the past 24
- 12:56Speaker 2: hours what they've sort of threatened to do. And they've
- 12:59Speaker 2: internalized the idea of doing for a long time. And
- 13:01Speaker 2: this is like a test pilot run. And everyone's kind
- 13:03Speaker 2: of waiting to see, all right, we talked really big.
- 13:06Speaker 2: What's going to happen here?
- 13:08Speaker 3: Because now if it happens this quickly, anything that comes up,
- 13:12Speaker 3: it's going to be like, well, now we see that
- 13:14Speaker 3: some of these rule changes can happen and get made.
- 13:17Speaker 3: We just need to get all these people in a
- 13:18Speaker 3: room when voices get loud enough.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Because as everything was unfolding yesterday and I saw the
- 13:23Speaker 3: SEC come out, I saw the Big Ten come out,
- 13:25Speaker 3: and it does seem like they're able to impose these
- 13:27Speaker 3: penalties and fines or whatever the case may be.
- 13:29Speaker 1: For the coaches, yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Now I'm thinking like, okay, when you think about all
- 13:33Speaker 3: the things that we talked about last year, whether it's
- 13:35Speaker 3: scheduling in the college football playoffs, the super conference, all
- 13:38Speaker 3: this stuff, it's like it seems like if you guys
- 13:40Speaker 3: just have some urgency and get your asses off the
- 13:42Speaker 3: chair and everybody get in a room, we can figure
- 13:44Speaker 3: out some of these rules that are living in the
- 13:46Speaker 3: gray area right now a little bit faster because you
- 13:48Speaker 3: are now proving it with this example right here.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it all goes back to like multiple dramatic dominoes
- 13:54Speaker 1: have to fall in the college football landscape for actual
- 13:56Speaker 1: change to happen. And there just happens to be one
- 13:58Speaker 1: that action's finally taking place. We thought it was going
- 14:00Speaker 1: to happen with Soresby.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Like the Soresby situation in Texas Tech. And it's like,
- 14:04Speaker 1: I don't fault Texas Tech the way they handled it
- 14:07Speaker 1: because all the stuff that Soresby.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Was- Outside of their 20 minute video. What was it,
- 14:10Speaker 2: 20 minutes?
- 14:11Speaker 3: Just all the talking heads in the room breaking down
- 14:13Speaker 3: how they handled Soresby.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but like, so Soresby comes, he transfers in, and
- 14:17Speaker 1: they're like, hey, by the way, Soresby's been doing this,
- 14:19Speaker 1: making bets and doing all the things that he shouldn't
- 14:21Speaker 1: have been doing while he was playing college athletics. If
- 14:23Speaker 1: I'm Texas Tech and I just paid a kid $ 3
- 14:25Speaker 1: million and he didn't do any of those things wrong
- 14:27Speaker 1: in my program, it's like, hey, you shouldn't, by the way,
- 14:30Speaker 1: that's stupid for you to do that. You need to
- 14:31Speaker 1: have different people in your life. However, we're going to
- 14:34Speaker 1: go to bat for you because you didn't do any
- 14:36Speaker 1: of those wrong things here. Like, we're going to fight
- 14:38Speaker 1: for you. I thought that's when a lot of change
- 14:39Speaker 1: was going to happen. And then just a couple months later,
- 14:41Speaker 1: now this is taking place. It's like how much more
- 14:44Speaker 1: has to happen before we really realize how broken the
- 14:47Speaker 1: system is.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Two different instances have happened over the past five months
- 14:52Speaker 2: in college football. Some say the most divided time in
- 14:56Speaker 2: our society's history. Two different things have happened. There was
- 14:59Speaker 2: a civil war. Exactly. to get 95% of people singing
- 15:04Speaker 2: the same song. In this case, even the conferences who
- 15:07Speaker 2: have been at each other's throats, even the conferences coalesced
- 15:11Speaker 2: under the same umbrella. So really in a roundabout way,
- 15:14Speaker 2: if you want to talk American heroes, if you want
- 15:16Speaker 2: to talk uniters, people who can bring us together, who's
- 15:20Speaker 2: brought America together more than Lane Kiffin recently? That's beautifully said.
- 15:27Speaker 2: If you really think about it, you're not wrong. The
- 15:32Speaker 2: Big Ten and the SEC holding hands. 95% of America
- 15:37Speaker 2: just echoing the same tune, and it's all because of
- 15:40Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It's happened so much recently that a piece of me
- 15:44Speaker 1: is like, this was his goal all along, is to
- 15:47Speaker 1: bring the people together.
- 15:49Speaker 2: He just needs to put out two words. He quit Twitter,
- 15:51Speaker 2: but he needs to come back and put out two words. Three,
- 15:54Speaker 2: if you count the contraction, you're welcome. Yeah, maybe he
- 15:59Speaker 2: is playing 3D chess. He's playing 3D chess.
- 16:01Speaker 3: And now we have this 95% of the population that
- 16:03Speaker 3: loves college football all coming together right before the season starts.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Almost like it was planned.
- 16:09Speaker 3: And we know how nasty it's about to get in
- 16:11Speaker 3: the streets once the season does kick off. Because I'm
- 16:14Speaker 3: going to be honest, I've changed my mind. I don't
- 16:17Speaker 3: know how many times over the last several weeks trying
- 16:20Speaker 3: to figure out who's going to be in the playoff,
- 16:23Speaker 3: how many national championship contenders are there.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I go back and forth all the time in the SEC.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I go back and forth a few different times in
- 16:29Speaker 3: the Big Ten. ACC feels like it's clearing away Miami.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Big 12 feels like it's clearing away Texas Tech. Let's start,
- 16:36Speaker 3: since we do have Josh is forcing us to do
- 16:39Speaker 3: the SEC first because SEC paid us here. Let's start
- 16:42Speaker 3: with the SEC conference. How many teams do you see
- 16:45Speaker 3: being able to win the national championship?
- 16:49Speaker 2: That's a great first question. It's a phenomenal question. Talent-wise,
- 16:52Speaker 2: I see two. Really?
- 16:54Speaker 1: I see two. Talent-wise, coaching staff, together, I see there's two,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and they're not the normal ones. And it's going to
- 17:01Speaker 1: be LSU and Texas.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Hang on. Georgia?
- 17:05Speaker 1: The goal of me saying LSU and Texas is not
- 17:11Speaker 1: for Georgia Bulldogs. You're getting the Bulldog fans barking right now.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Taylor hates Kirby Smart and Georgia. I love Kirby Smart.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I love Gunnar Stockton. I love the culture of that
- 17:21Speaker 1: school and everything. My only knock on them is if
- 17:24Speaker 1: I look at the SEC and the talent level, there's
- 17:28Speaker 1: two teams, Texas and LSU, that answered a lot of
- 17:32Speaker 1: questions they had going into the offseason. You know with Georgia,
- 17:36Speaker 1: they're going to have a great offensive line. They got
- 17:37Speaker 1: Nate Frazier returning and they have a solid defense that
- 17:41Speaker 1: runs similar to a quarterback. If they're on cadence, they're
- 17:45Speaker 1: looking at everything the way and things don't break down.
- 17:47Speaker 1: They're very successful. But last year they had, what, 20
- 17:50Speaker 1: sacks the whole entire year from an entire defense? Like,
- 17:53Speaker 1: Oregon's returning two. Two players that meet that already. And
- 17:57Speaker 1: they're not even in the SEC. They don't have a
- 18:00Speaker 1: massive rush. They lost Zachariah Branch to the draft who
- 18:03Speaker 1: had 81 receptions and set a record for the school.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You don't have any proven guys out there. Oh, just
- 18:10Speaker 1: let him go.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Just let him go.
- 18:12Speaker 1: You don't have proven guys in the perimeter. For them
- 18:15Speaker 1: to be truly successful. So when I look at like
- 18:18Speaker 1: Gunner Stockton, you don't bet against Gunner Stockton and Kirby Smart.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I get that. But you are. I understand that. I'm
- 18:23Speaker 2: just saying if there.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Is a year for out of the last 10, nine
- 18:27Speaker 1: of the last 10 SEC champions have been Alabama or
- 18:29Speaker 1: Georgia other than that one 19 LSU. This is just
- 18:33Speaker 1: one of those years where I can see two teams
- 18:36Speaker 1: have more talent and have more ability to beat that
- 18:38Speaker 1: school in the SEC.
- 18:41Speaker 2: That is my thought.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And I think if Kirby's smart and he's a great coach,
- 18:45Speaker 1: he's a good enough coach, an evolution.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Needs to take place.
- 18:48Speaker 1: An evolution needs to take place similar to Nick Saban.
- 18:50Speaker 3: So right now you're in FanDuel, you're hammering LSU plus
- 18:53Speaker 3: 900 in Texas. Is this a conference or for national
- 18:57Speaker 3: championship winning?
- 18:58Speaker 2: It's a conference. That's FanDuel having no idea that Georgia's
- 19:02Speaker 2: not talented enough and LSU has surpassed them. Nope. See,
- 19:06Speaker 2: you're already taking my words.
- 19:08Speaker 1: You look at Georgia, they have every right to be
- 19:10Speaker 1: at the top right there because of what they've done
- 19:12Speaker 1: over the last decade.
- 19:14Speaker 2: That's like a lifetime achievement kind of award. That's like
- 19:16Speaker 2: we got to put them there so someone can take them. Right, okay.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And all I'm saying about Georgia is very talented. They're
- 19:22Speaker 1: going to be in the mix, probably will be in
- 19:23Speaker 1: the SEC championship based on their schedule. However, LSU and
- 19:27Speaker 1: Texas to me is by far and away a more
- 19:30Speaker 1: talented football team. That's all I'm saying.
- 19:34Speaker 3: By far and away.
- 19:35Speaker 2: By far and away.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Do you know that Kirby Smart– this is the most
- 19:39Speaker 3: ever he's had returning of the guys out there that
- 19:42Speaker 3: started last year. There's some thought to where it's like they,
- 19:45Speaker 3: you could have seen, there's like a, there's a thought
- 19:48Speaker 3: for how slow they started for most, of the season
- 19:50Speaker 3: yeah they were down uh in the second half for
- 19:53Speaker 3: seven out of eight of their sec games they come
- 19:56Speaker 3: out winning seven they're seven and one in conference.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Play well documented last year they were a very slow starting.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Team slow starting team so it's urgency right like we
- 20:04Speaker 3: got to get going faster we got to have better
- 20:06Speaker 3: first quarters we got to put stuff together more in
- 20:08Speaker 3: the first half We have to get.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Our asses going if we're going to compete.
- 20:13Speaker 3: To your 20-sack point, they had eight in the first
- 20:15Speaker 3: eight games, 12 in the last five, so the defense
- 20:17Speaker 3: comes along. They return 17 guys. And this is, if
- 20:21Speaker 3: I'm thinking, is this the year where you're thinking of
- 20:23Speaker 3: betting against Kirby Smart, where he's got the most ever
- 20:26Speaker 3: that he has returned?
- 20:27Speaker 2: And even turnovers.
- 20:28Speaker 3: They did not create a lot of turnovers last year.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Hit Kirby Smart's lowest ever in the era of Kirby Smart.
- 20:33Speaker 3: So in the offseason, all year long, yeah, they don't
- 20:35Speaker 3: get talked. Even though they're at the top of the
- 20:37Speaker 3: fan duel, they haven't been talked about because people talk
- 20:40Speaker 3: about Texas. They talk about LSU. People have been talking
- 20:43Speaker 3: a lot more about Oklahoma. Ole Miss is going to
- 20:46Speaker 3: have a very talented roster. But Kirby Smart, this is
- 20:50Speaker 3: essentially the same team, question mark, is on the perimeter.
- 20:54Speaker 3: but they had a lot of drop issues last year,
- 20:56Speaker 3: and I'm sure they've been top five in recruiting the
- 20:58Speaker 3: last five years. They're going to have somebody show up.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I believe that they're going to have somebody show up.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I need Bobo. I need Coach Bobo out there to
- 21:05Speaker 3: show up a little bit with some play calling. That
- 21:07Speaker 3: is the only question mark is who's going to show
- 21:09Speaker 3: up on the perimeter. But this is essentially the same
- 21:11Speaker 3: team that we know is battle-tested from what we saw
- 21:15Speaker 3: last year, held Alabama's head under the water for the
- 21:18Speaker 3: SEC championship game, and this is going to be the
- 21:21Speaker 3: year where we kind of like, you know, doubt Kirby
- 21:23Speaker 3: Smart a little bit. Not your boy. I got them
- 21:25Speaker 3: winning the SEC. I'm taking the Georgia Bulldogs to win
- 21:28Speaker 3: the SEC over a Texas. But I do think SEC
- 21:31Speaker 3: in totality, bullish on LSU, bullish even on Ole Miss.
- 21:38Speaker 3: They have a gauntlet of a schedule. Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia.
- 21:42Speaker 3: There's five in my brain that truly.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Could just be for a national title.
- 21:45Speaker 1: You're just missing one of the top of those right there.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Everything you just said is absolutely correct. They were going
- 21:49Speaker 1: to turn a lot of guys. They got better on
- 21:51Speaker 1: the defensive side of the ball. But the play calling
- 21:55Speaker 1: on the opposite side of the ball got way more
- 21:56Speaker 1: conservative towards the end of the year. Gunnar Stockton, I
- 21:58Speaker 1: think it was like five air yards per pass per
- 22:02Speaker 1: attempt in the last six games of the year. 49%
- 22:04Speaker 1: of those passes went behind the line of scrimmage. Most
- 22:07Speaker 1: of those passes went to Zachariah Branch, a guy that's
- 22:09Speaker 1: going to, you're probably going to get three with most guys.
- 22:12Speaker 1: He gets you 15. So when I talk about the
- 22:14Speaker 1: evolution of what needs to take place, I'm not saying
- 22:17Speaker 1: they can't do it. I'm just saying if you were
- 22:19Speaker 1: a one-dimensional football team, which they are going to be
- 22:20Speaker 1: able to run the ball, Six of their seven starting guys,
- 22:24Speaker 1: or all SEC guys that they're returning, four of them
- 22:28Speaker 1: are on the offensive side of the ball, on the
- 22:30Speaker 1: offensive line. They're going to have a great offensive line.
- 22:32Speaker 1: They're going to lean and push guys and be able
- 22:33Speaker 1: to do that. When you get into a shootout, when
- 22:36Speaker 1: you play a Trinidad Chambliss or a Sam Leavitt or
- 22:39Speaker 1: an Archman, a guy that can extend plays when it
- 22:41Speaker 1: breaks down, which is what Georgia's defense had the most
- 22:43Speaker 1: issue with last year. When everything was going, and they
- 22:46Speaker 1: dropped back, it's a five-step drop, and routes are going
- 22:48Speaker 1: the way, and they get the ball, that's when Georgia's
- 22:50Speaker 1: defense is at their best. When you had Trinidad Chambliss
- 22:53Speaker 1: in that second game in the playoffs, and he's running
- 22:55Speaker 1: all over the field, things break down, and that's where
- 22:58Speaker 1: Georgia's Achilles heel is. So if Kirby Smart and Mike
- 23:03Speaker 1: Bobo want to be better, they need to go through
- 23:05Speaker 1: an evolution process similar to like Nick Saban. When Kirby
- 23:08Speaker 1: Smart was there, they were the same thing. Great defense,
- 23:11Speaker 1: great offensive line, and a good run game. Then they
- 23:14Speaker 1: go through a drought, and that drought for Alabama is,
- 23:16Speaker 1: they go two years.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Two years of that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: But somewhere along the lines, Nick Saban decides, I need
- 23:20Speaker 1: to be more prolific on the offensive side of the ball.
- 23:23Speaker 1: enter in a guy like Lane Kiffin. Now they're throwing
- 23:26Speaker 1: it all over the yard with a strong run game,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and they go on their second stint, their second run.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Kirby Smart needs them to take that evolution to the
- 23:34Speaker 1: next level if they're going to play with this new
- 23:37Speaker 1: era of NIL and how LSU has spent over $ 50
- 23:39Speaker 1: million in the roster. The way Arch Manning played in
- 23:41Speaker 1: the last six games, he's getting Cam Coleman as wide receiver.
- 23:44Speaker 1: They have three guys on their team that would be
- 23:46Speaker 1: wide receiver one for probably most of college football. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: when you look at all these schools, it's like, I
- 23:51Speaker 1: have so much respect for Kirby Smart. I think there's
- 23:53Speaker 1: a reason why they're at the top right now. There's
- 23:55Speaker 1: just so much talent and it plays against what Georgia's
- 23:59Speaker 1: Achilles heel is. So for that reason, I'll be thinking LSU.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I think if Georgia played LSU in week one, they'd
- 24:04Speaker 2: run for 300 on them. Agreed. I would feel totally
- 24:08Speaker 2: confident saying that that would probably continue throughout the year.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I want to ask you this because you put Texas
- 24:14Speaker 2: in the league class, which I don't disagree with you
- 24:16Speaker 2: on that, but you were very comfortable putting Texas and
- 24:19Speaker 2: I thought you were going to go Georgia, but you
- 24:20Speaker 2: put LSU up there. as like in a different classification
- 24:23Speaker 2: talent-wise than Georgia. Let's even grant that you're right, which
- 24:29Speaker 2: Texas is a very talented team. So let's grant that
- 24:32Speaker 2: you're right. When people say things like styles make fights,
- 24:37Speaker 2: and we've seen that fight three times in the last
- 24:39Speaker 2: two years, and Texas has been the butter, and Georgia's
- 24:43Speaker 2: been the knife, and I know that that defense improved
- 24:47Speaker 2: in overall returning production this year, I really trust Georgia's
- 24:51Speaker 2: secondary about as much as any secondary in the country.
- 24:53Speaker 2: So like, I don't think you're going to shoot out
- 24:55Speaker 2: on them unless you really can do what Trinidad Chambliss
- 24:57Speaker 2: can do. I don't know that you're going to shoot
- 24:59Speaker 2: out on them. Love them at linebacker. Pass rush, I'll
- 25:03Speaker 2: grant you, but love the defensive front overall. Supremely trust
- 25:06Speaker 2: their offensive line. Supremely trust their ability to run the ball.
- 25:09Speaker 2: All that stuff that's steamrolled Texas three times. Why would
- 25:15Speaker 2: anyone think that would fundamentally change this year is my question.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I think the biggest reason is Arch Manning in the
- 25:22Speaker 1: second half of the season. We sat here a year
- 25:24Speaker 1: ago this time and talked about Arch Manning. Everybody had
- 25:27Speaker 1: Arch Manning when the Heisman hadn't even been a full-time
- 25:29Speaker 1: starter at Texas yet. And he came in against Ohio
- 25:33Speaker 1: State and looked bad and continued to do so throughout
- 25:36Speaker 1: the first half of the season. Somewhere in the third
- 25:39Speaker 1: quarter of Mississippi State, it started to click for him.
- 25:41Speaker 1: where he started to use his legs a little bit more,
- 25:43Speaker 1: making better decisions with the ball, and being a Manning
- 25:47Speaker 1: that we all kind of expected him to be in
- 25:49Speaker 1: week one, where the playbook you can see from Sark
- 25:52Speaker 1: opened up a whole lot more. Cam Coleman, a guy
- 25:54Speaker 1: who was rated very similar to a Jeremiah Smith and
- 25:58Speaker 1: a Ryan Williams coming out of high school, he goes
- 26:01Speaker 1: to Auburn. He's got an absolutely revolving door of who's
- 26:04Speaker 1: throwing him the ball at quarterback. He has now come in,
- 26:07Speaker 1: and I think at the end of this year we're
- 26:08Speaker 1: going to see him put in the same category of
- 26:10Speaker 1: those two players, especially Jeremiah Smith. He, to me, is
- 26:13Speaker 1: the best wide receiver out there, like the second coming.
- 26:15Speaker 1: So with those two guys, you bring in two running backs.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You have Brown and Smothers. Both guys rush for over
- 26:22Speaker 1: 1,000 yards, one at ASU and one North Carolina, North
- 26:25Speaker 1: Carolina State. Those guys already know they're sharing the load
- 26:28Speaker 1: this year, and they've been public about the fact that
- 26:30Speaker 1: they love it. They've regrouped on their offensive line. They
- 26:33Speaker 1: have Goosby, who's gonna be a first round draft pick
- 26:36Speaker 1: at left tackle. They got a transfer from Wake Forest
- 26:39Speaker 1: at the right tackle position. And then returning guys in
- 26:42Speaker 1: the interior brought in a couple more as well. So
- 26:44Speaker 1: you turn on the film and watch Texas' offensive line
- 26:46Speaker 1: last year, It was an absolute sit. They were a strainer.
- 26:49Speaker 2: They looked terrible. There was no push.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Even when they tried to use creativity, whether it's running
- 26:54Speaker 1: an open side power with the Y coming out and
- 26:58Speaker 1: they're dumping it off to the Y, well, there's so
- 26:59Speaker 1: much leakage that they're not able to get that play off.
- 27:02Speaker 1: When if that play would have been able to get off,
- 27:04Speaker 1: they're 88 and out the gate. They have the whole
- 27:06Speaker 1: entire field. So by revamping the offensive line, not near
- 27:09Speaker 1: as good as Georgia. And I'm not arguing this to
- 27:12Speaker 1: be like I'm anti-Georgia. I just think that these two teams...
- 27:15Speaker 1: what they've been able to bring in. They've identified their issues.
- 27:19Speaker 1: That's where I see, like, I can see these two
- 27:21Speaker 1: teams outdoing Georgia. Still, if they win, I respect the
- 27:25Speaker 1: hell out of Kirby Smart. But when I see the
- 27:27Speaker 1: addition of Cam Coleman, I see the addition of the
- 27:30Speaker 1: two running backs, there is an intentional move in the
- 27:33Speaker 1: transfer portal to help the offensive line be better for
- 27:37Speaker 1: Arch Manning. And the same thing goes for LSU. You see,
- 27:39Speaker 1: they brought in Seton, they brought in eight other transfers.
- 27:42Speaker 1: because I'm kind of fighting for both these teams right now,
- 27:44Speaker 1: so I'm jumping around. Sam Levitz, another guy at ASU,
- 27:46Speaker 1: you put any of the film on last year. I
- 27:48Speaker 1: think it was the second series of the Mississippi State game.
- 27:51Speaker 1: He rolls out to the left. Guys are just absolutely
- 27:54Speaker 1: coming at him. He throws a dot 30 yards down
- 27:56Speaker 1: the field and gets absolutely destroyed. Every third and five
- 28:01Speaker 1: or more that Sam Levitt had, if he didn't get
- 28:03Speaker 1: the ball out in like 2.5, he's running.
- 28:05Speaker 2: For his life.
- 28:06Speaker 1: So he's got a great offensive line. Both guys have
- 28:09Speaker 1: improved offensive line. They have weapons absolutely everywhere on the perimeter.
- 28:13Speaker 1: So if they do get in a shootout and they
- 28:14Speaker 1: have to keep up with a team that's going to
- 28:16Speaker 1: eat up a bunch of clockwork Georgia, They have the capability.
- 28:19Speaker 1: For LSU, it's keeping, was it Blake Baker, their defense coordinator,
- 28:23Speaker 1: top five in the SEC last year. They bring in
- 28:26Speaker 1: a bunch of transfer guys as well. And Lane's done it.
- 28:29Speaker 1: You brought this point up to me a couple of
- 28:30Speaker 1: weeks ago. Lane's done this year over year where he
- 28:33Speaker 1: has just a slew of transfer portal guys and gets
- 28:36Speaker 1: them to play their best ball. They're always going to
- 28:38Speaker 1: have a great run game. And the creativity, Lane's creativity
- 28:42Speaker 1: needs to be studied from an offensive calling standpoint because
- 28:45Speaker 1: he can make the most basic plays the most creative
- 28:48Speaker 1: thing in the world. And it's just like one or
- 28:50Speaker 1: two little things. So when I see both these teams,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, like Georgia is the big bad wolf.
- 28:55Speaker 1: And listen, no one loves a good defense and run
- 28:58Speaker 1: game better than it used to be offensive linemen. But
- 29:01Speaker 1: I look at these two guys and what they have
- 29:02Speaker 1: the ability, the potential to do. It's like, I'm willing
- 29:06Speaker 1: to put my neck out there a little bit and
- 29:07Speaker 1: be like, one of those two teams are coming out.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I just happen to side with LSU when it comes
- 29:11Speaker 1: to this.
- 29:12Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I'm just surprised you don't have Georgia in the crop
- 29:14Speaker 3: of a team who could win the national title.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's where you get to, like, look at Miami.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Like, they're built so very similar to Georgia, and they can,
- 29:25Speaker 1: but they have a better perimeter game. You look at,
- 29:28Speaker 1: I guess, like, Tech, we'll see with Hammond. I mean,
- 29:31Speaker 1: we'll jump into all those conferences, but if I look
- 29:33Speaker 1: at the SEC, I could see Georgia making it in
- 29:37Speaker 1: the playoffs. They probably will based on their schedule. But
- 29:40Speaker 1: I can see LSU or Texas actually winning the conference.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Here's the really weird place I'm in. We'll talk about
- 29:45Speaker 2: the playoff picks later. I'm in a place where I
- 29:48Speaker 2: think Georgia is the worst nightmare matchup that's existed for
- 29:52Speaker 2: a couple of years for Texas. So I've got them
- 29:54Speaker 2: going to Atlanta, and I've got Georgia beating Texas in Atlanta.
- 29:56Speaker 2: So I've got Georgia winning the SEC again. Sure. However,
- 30:01Speaker 2: I think Texas has more potential to make a national
- 30:04Speaker 2: championship run than Georgia, as long as they don't run
- 30:07Speaker 2: into literal Georgia in the playoff. So it's that weird
- 30:11Speaker 2: kind of thing where if you just think there's a
- 30:13Speaker 2: specific matchup problem for someone, cool. And if you run
- 30:16Speaker 2: into them in Atlanta, you lose, but you can still
- 30:19Speaker 2: make the playoff. As long as you avoid them, you
- 30:21Speaker 2: can make a run and they could be one and done.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Because I do agree, there are aspects of Georgia's offense
- 30:26Speaker 2: that probably limit the upside. Whereas Texas, Texas has a
- 30:30Speaker 2: little higher upside. It's just, if they run into Georgia
- 30:33Speaker 2: and Atlanta, which I think they will, I would give
- 30:34Speaker 2: the edge to Georgia until proven otherwise. I do think
- 30:37Speaker 2: Texas actually probably goes deeper this year if they make
- 30:39Speaker 2: the playoff.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I think that's the safer bet. Like to sit there
- 30:42Speaker 1: and be like the team that's done it the most
- 30:44Speaker 1: really for the longest time and had the most ability
- 30:46Speaker 1: at coaching. Like you should take them in the SEC.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I just sit there and I look at Texas. If
- 30:51Speaker 1: we're using Texas as an example, it's like, I agree
- 30:53Speaker 1: with everything you just said. It's very similar. That could
- 30:55Speaker 1: be an Ohio State situation where they go to the
- 30:58Speaker 1: Big Ten Championship, they lose, and they just set the
- 31:00Speaker 1: world on fire. Because they were riding high, they felt good,
- 31:03Speaker 1: they get punched in the mouth, and they're like, oh,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I'm not handling it, we're not doing it like this.
- 31:07Speaker 1: And that's when Arch Manning just goes demon mode on everybody.
- 31:10Speaker 1: So I could see that also coming out. The SEC,
- 31:14Speaker 1: to me, and the Big Ten, obviously, there's three or
- 31:16Speaker 1: four teams in there that are just like, yeah, anybody
- 31:18Speaker 1: can win it. I love the chaos aspect of when
- 31:23Speaker 1: we're fantasizing about ball and seeing the LSU logo or
- 31:27Speaker 1: the Texas logo hoisting.
- 31:28Speaker 2: The SEC trophy. I can see it.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And they have the caliber of players to do it. Stark,
- 31:34Speaker 1: to me, Stark's in a weird possible A-gap scenario coming
- 31:39Speaker 1: down if they don't make at least a massive push
- 31:41Speaker 1: into the playoffs.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I agree.
- 31:43Speaker 3: We just need Texas to do it. You're always the prettiest.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Girl before the season.
- 31:47Speaker 1: We're still hung up on Texas quite a bit. My
- 31:48Speaker 1: pick is LSU. I'm going.
- 31:52Speaker 2: LSU's 1A.
- 31:54Speaker 1: It's truly like, all right, I got Georgia in the
- 31:56Speaker 1: SEC championship. They will play in that game.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I believe that.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Their schedule says it. They'll be able to do all
- 32:01Speaker 1: the things they did last year, even if they start slow.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Gunner's stocked in. He's going to find a way to
- 32:05Speaker 1: get themselves into Atlanta.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Then it's like, okay, who.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Fits in the next little part? You got Texas fitting
- 32:09Speaker 1: in that other part. I got LSU fitting in that
- 32:11Speaker 1: other part. I just have LSU coming out of the
- 32:14Speaker 1: SEC championship.
- 32:14Speaker 2: How much do you have to love this show so
- 32:16Speaker 2: far if you're Oklahoma? Because you haven't been mentioned. Oklahoma
- 32:20Speaker 2: hasn't been mentioned. You know you get Texas and Dallas.
- 32:24Speaker 2: You're going to Athens to play Georgia. You were doubted
- 32:27Speaker 2: by people like me on the road twice last year.
- 32:30Speaker 2: And you go into Neyland and win. You go into
- 32:32Speaker 2: Bryant-Denny and win. You end up making the playoff even
- 32:34Speaker 2: though you couldn't run the ball. So you believe in
- 32:37Speaker 2: yourself and your ability to run the ball this year.
- 32:39Speaker 2: You got a Brent Venables defense. You know that the
- 32:42Speaker 2: SEC in your mind has to come through you just
- 32:44Speaker 2: as much as everyone else believes it's Georgia penciled in,
- 32:47Speaker 2: Texas penciled in. Not to mention, I think Brent Venables
- 32:50Speaker 2: bottles up a whole lot of that Dabo Clemson energy
- 32:53Speaker 2: of wanting to be doubted, loving to be kept in
- 32:56Speaker 2: the shadows until you eventually got a lineup against them.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I think Oklahoma is going to be a tough out. See,
- 33:01Speaker 2: I'm different. I don't think there's this immense separation in
- 33:04Speaker 2: the SEC. So if you told me Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma,
- 33:08Speaker 2: A & M, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, a seven, any
- 33:12Speaker 2: of them win the SEC, nothing shocks me this year.
- 33:15Speaker 2: A & M, Alabama. I mentioned A & M, I think.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Trinidad Chambliss may be the best player in the league,
- 33:22Speaker 2: and we haven't, we've barely mentioned Ole Miss. We just
- 33:25Speaker 2: assume that the year two thing, Pete Golding, first time
- 33:29Speaker 2: around the merry-go-round fully, The league gets to adjust to
- 33:32Speaker 2: Trinidad Chambliss. Ridiculous schedule. You just kind of assume that'll
- 33:36Speaker 2: chew them up. But what if they smoke Louisville and
- 33:39Speaker 2: then take down LSU two weeks later and they're 3-0
- 33:42Speaker 2: going to Florida?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Then the game's completely changed.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yeah. The entire board is reset.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Then we come back on this show the following Wednesday
- 33:49Speaker 1: after the LSU game.
- 33:50Speaker 2: We go, hey, we're re-ranking. We're doing our futures again.
- 33:54Speaker 2: The kids screwed up. Mid-season futures are starting right now, fellas.
- 33:57Speaker 2: The coaches screwed it up. I got Ole Miss.
- 33:59Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, that's... And the way that Golden 2
- 34:01Speaker 3: is invested in on the defensive side, especially hitting the portal,
- 34:04Speaker 3: they're going to be a damn tough team. They just
- 34:07Speaker 3: have a brutal schedule. A lot of teams do in
- 34:10Speaker 3: the SEC. And back on the Oklahoma, in my brain,
- 34:13Speaker 3: it's like, you run the ball well, they're going to
- 34:15Speaker 3: the college football playoff. Because they're going to have an
- 34:16Speaker 3: elite defense. Like last year, there's nothing but underclassmen trying
- 34:20Speaker 3: to run the football. Three freshmen. The running back was
- 34:23Speaker 3: a freshman. Everybody returns. They get pieces in to fill
- 34:27Speaker 3: out the O-line. But a healthy John Mateer. You know,
- 34:30Speaker 3: you've got to figure out what their pass game and
- 34:32Speaker 3: everything else is going to be like. But who was–
- 34:33Speaker 3: because Mateer came over with his former coach.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Ben Arbuckle. Yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Them getting in year two and John Mateer being healthy,
- 34:41Speaker 3: like Oklahoma is going to be tough, man.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Offensive line is going to be improved.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I love how much chaos could take place in the SEC.
- 34:46Speaker 3: And this is without even talking about the masters of chaos.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Of Tennessee, of a South Carolina.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Shout out J.P. Hovey.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Who else do we have?
- 34:54Speaker 2: Cocktober is a real thing. Or is it? Because they
- 34:57Speaker 2: went winless last year.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but that was a fluke. They were beating Alabama.
- 35:02Speaker 1: They were beating Alabama in the fourth quarter. They were
- 35:04Speaker 1: beating Texas A & M at half. It was like 28-3, 31-3,
- 35:07Speaker 1: something like that.
- 35:09Speaker 2: They were.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Cocktober was alive.
- 35:12Speaker 2: It was real.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It just, the result wasn't what we wanted.
- 35:14Speaker 2: But it's out there. It's out there. And they got
- 35:16Speaker 2: another gauntlet as well.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Browse that RPO system. One thing you brought up too,
- 35:21Speaker 1: just to give Oklahoma more flowers. Yeah, healthy John Mattier.
- 35:23Speaker 1: We all know what he can do. And when I
- 35:26Speaker 1: was trying to give you my heavy Michigan bias to like,
- 35:29Speaker 1: this is why I think week two is going to
- 35:30Speaker 1: go this way. They can't run the ball. And I
- 35:32Speaker 1: was like, they're not going to be that much better.
- 35:34Speaker 1: If anything, they might be the same. And you're like,
- 35:36Speaker 1: I tend to believe that a team that was really
- 35:38Speaker 1: bad can only get better. And the more you look
- 35:40Speaker 1: at Oklahoma, it's like, fuck, you're right. especially with the
- 35:45Speaker 1: culture guy like Venables, who is going to identify a
- 35:48Speaker 1: serious issue you have in your team, and he's going
- 35:50Speaker 1: to do everything he can. He's like, we're fixing this problem.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Practice is going to be harder. Tramp support is going
- 35:54Speaker 1: to come in. We're making sure that we're going to.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Handle the run game. Their run game will be improved.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I just like LSU. Venables, he's the type that's banging
- 36:01Speaker 3: his head against the wall, and they're probably having to
- 36:02Speaker 3: wear wristbands all off season on running the football.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:06Speaker 3: There's yeah.
- 36:06Speaker 1: They have stuff that they walk through just watching TFLs
- 36:09Speaker 1: get taken on them over and over again in their,
- 36:11Speaker 1: in their facility.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 3: And I think too, like that's like Kirby smart. When
- 36:14Speaker 3: you think about takeaways and urgency, like starting fast, I
- 36:17Speaker 3: just think these are, these are themes that are being
- 36:19Speaker 3: yelled at to these guys. And when you have a
- 36:21Speaker 3: lot of vets coming back, it's your urgency. You know
- 36:24Speaker 3: how you carry yourself as a junior and senior compared
- 36:26Speaker 3: to when you were a freshman and sophomore walking in
- 36:28Speaker 3: the building, knowing like who captains are, like how much
- 36:31Speaker 3: it's a player ran locker room.
- 36:33Speaker 2: And how much you have to take care of on
- 36:34Speaker 2: the field. Are you Texas over LSU? Is that what
- 36:38Speaker 2: you're picking in Atlanta? I'm LSU. You're LSU over Texas?
- 36:41Speaker 2: I'm LSU over Texas. Wow, that would be noteworthy. We're aligned.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I'm Georgia over Texas. I do like Texas.
- 36:47Speaker 3: I think Texas spent the right way in the offseason
- 36:50Speaker 3: handling the run game because, again, they have interior guys
- 36:52Speaker 3: coming back. They added some pieces around them. You've got
- 36:54Speaker 3: Hollywood smothers. They're going to have a run game, which
- 36:57Speaker 3: is what they need. And you get Arch Manning, which
- 36:59Speaker 3: I think we're going to get Arch Manning growing on
- 37:00Speaker 3: the back half of the season last year. They are
- 37:02Speaker 3: going to be damn good, too. That linebacker, Miles, too.
- 37:05Speaker 3: You just need him, Colin Simmons. You also just need
- 37:09Speaker 3: him to show us. Because we get excited about Texas
- 37:13Speaker 3: every year.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Should be excited. It's like going to the gym in January.
- 37:16Speaker 2: It's packed. We're all excited. We're back. The gym's empty
- 37:19Speaker 2: in March. Oh, wow. Oh, here we go. January gym theory.
- 37:24Speaker 3: It's my theory. I just out-theoried Josh already. First episode
- 37:27Speaker 3: of the season.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Nice.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Right now it's 1-0, but the show's not even halfway over.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can I get something off my chest?
- 37:34Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Because there's some win totals that I was going over.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I'm going under on Texas A & M at 8.5.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I don't hate it.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Okay. I'm going under.
- 37:44Speaker 2: I just want people to know that. Not a Marcel
- 37:46Speaker 2: Reed guy. No, no, no, no, no. I'm not saying
- 37:48Speaker 2: that at all. So let me just get this straight.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Well, we just were able to be so respectful to
- 37:52Speaker 1: all the SEC schools. Josh brings up seven schools that
- 37:55Speaker 1: we could all be like not surprised by where we
- 37:57Speaker 1: all kind of sit back and go, all right, other
- 37:59Speaker 1: than like maybe A & M or Alabama where they're
- 38:01Speaker 1: going to watch the show and be like, all right,
- 38:03Speaker 1: that wasn't too bad what they said. Even I had
- 38:05Speaker 1: an issue with quarter zip guy at Oklahoma and I'm
- 38:07Speaker 1: thinking to myself, like, yeah.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Coach Elko, friend of the show. Friend of the show.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Coach Elko, friend of the show. So we're good.
- 38:12Speaker 1: We've pretty much put a bow on the SEC and
- 38:15Speaker 1: we're like, everyone kind of feels good. People who that
- 38:17Speaker 1: weren't picked probably feel okay about it. And you're like, Hey,
- 38:20Speaker 1: just so you know, I think Texas A & M.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Dumpster. They're knocking it. Yeah, sell them. The 12th man,
- 38:25Speaker 2: that's weird. All right?
- 38:27Speaker 1: The midnight yell, that's weird. Those guys are weird out there.
- 38:30Speaker 2: And by the way. But also, a friend of the show.
- 38:31Speaker 2: A friend of the show. Is it Marcel Reed? No,
- 38:33Speaker 2: it's got nothing to do with the quarterback. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Nothing to do at all with the quarterback. The players,
- 38:37Speaker 2: the OCD.
- 38:38Speaker 1: I think all of them are really great. I just
- 38:39Speaker 1: think they're going to suck.
- 38:40Speaker 2: I hate them.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Coach Klein went up to Kansas State. First time play caller.
- 38:44Speaker 3: And again, it's like you look at their schedule.
- 38:45Speaker 2: They're at LSU. What do you got them doing in
- 38:48Speaker 2: Death Valley? I have them losing. At Alabama. Toss-up.
- 38:54Speaker 3: At South Carolina.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Can I give a quick note, since we're going to
- 38:56Speaker 1: be nasty?
- 38:57Speaker 2: If we're going to be nasty. I'm not going to
- 38:59Speaker 2: be nasty.
- 38:59Speaker 3: This is a gambling show, too, and I want people
- 39:01Speaker 3: to know I got a couple unders on here.
- 39:03Speaker 2: You're pseudo-nasty. You just brought up Alabama. I'm not high
- 39:05Speaker 2: on Alabama this year. Onward. I'm not either. Okay. Is
- 39:07Speaker 2: that an under? Is that an under? What's their win total?
- 39:10Speaker 2: Win total is 8.5. What's Alabama's win total? Oh, here
- 39:12Speaker 2: we go.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Alabama's is 8.5, but Texas A & M, 8.5.
- 39:14Speaker 2: They're at LSU. They're at Alabama. They're at South Carolina.
- 39:16Speaker 2: They're at Alabama.
- 39:19Speaker 3: They host Texas, they're at OU, and then they also
- 39:22Speaker 3: host Tennessee.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Let me see that again.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Take a look, take a look, dive in. Put your
- 39:28Speaker 2: notes here. Week four is very sneaky on the schedule.
- 39:31Speaker 2: This guy's got Stanford.
- 39:32Speaker 3: I like the underdog Stanford this year. I don't want
- 39:35Speaker 3: to do any spoilers for when we talk ACC.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I can see him winning that game. This feels like
- 39:39Speaker 2: an attack on intern Chris. At South Carolina. What month?
- 39:44Speaker 2: When is that game? Yeah, exactly. When is the South
- 39:47Speaker 2: Carolina game? Can I get my paper? In a second.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Because I also like under on Vandy. All right. Hey,
- 39:54Speaker 2: I'll let you have your feedback. I just wanted to
- 39:56Speaker 2: look at that because. There's a few overs and unders here. Okay.
- 39:59Speaker 2: LSU's at eight and a half right now. Okay. I
- 40:01Speaker 2: like them over.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Tennessee, over seven and a half. Texas A & M,
- 40:06Speaker 3: I cleared that. Under eight and a half. And I
- 40:08Speaker 3: also like the under on Vandy at.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Five and a half.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Just for people out there following, you want to play
- 40:14Speaker 3: some bets, some over-overs, some win totals?
- 40:16Speaker 1: Texas A & M just missed October.
- 40:19Speaker 3: But you need to be hammering LSU because right now
- 40:21Speaker 3: they're sitting at 8.5.
- 40:22Speaker 2: It's on Halloween. Yeah, it's hammered. Consider it hammered. It's
- 40:24Speaker 2: on Halloween.
- 40:27Speaker 3: November 7th?
- 40:28Speaker 2: You said A & M at South Carolina, right? Oh, yeah.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Look to the right side. Oh, I saw October 31st. Yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 2: I saw that. Oh, okay. Yeah, you didn't see the bar. Yeah,
- 40:36Speaker 2: that's a two-touchdown win. Never mind.
- 40:39Speaker 1: And we try to be nice. We try to be
- 40:41Speaker 1: nice on this show. Just so I'm clear, Georgia, Georgia, LSU.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Georgia over Texas, yes. All right.
- 40:46Speaker 1: You guys are going to have LSU in it.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I got LSU.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Here we are talking about Lane Kiffin who's literally bringing
- 40:51Speaker 1: the world together.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Time out, time out, time out. I have LSU going
- 40:54Speaker 3: 10-2 this year. I have them making the college football playoff.
- 40:55Speaker 3: But as far as the SEC championship, I got Georgia
- 40:58Speaker 3: over Texas.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Just to be clear, I know we're going to talk
- 41:04Speaker 3: college football playoff in a little bit. I'm not anti-LSU.
- 41:07Speaker 1: If LSU can get undefeated out of September, they're living nice.
- 41:10Speaker 2: You just don't strike me as a guy that walks
- 41:12Speaker 2: in off the street ready to start the season pounding unders.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You seem like a glass half full. I am. I'm
- 41:18Speaker 2: a happy person. I'm happy with my life. I'm happy
- 41:21Speaker 2: with the way things are going in my life. You
- 41:23Speaker 2: don't seem like an under guy early in the year.
- 41:27Speaker 2: I'm not. Last year did something to you. It did. Hey, yeah,
- 41:32Speaker 2: it did.
- 41:33Speaker 3: I'm sitting there with Cody and, you know, my guy
- 41:35Speaker 3: Cody Graves, we're trying to enter the graveyard. I'm like, hey,
- 41:39Speaker 3: you got some unders on here or you got some
- 41:41Speaker 3: overs on here. Are there any unders you like? And
- 41:43Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, let me dive in and see, you know,
- 41:46Speaker 3: I guess, yeah, betting against the team. So, you know,
- 41:51Speaker 3: being on a gambling show right now, I'm like, let
- 41:55Speaker 3: me cause a little bit of chaos and give some
- 41:57Speaker 3: people the unders. Because I don't want to be optimistic
- 42:00Speaker 3: Willie all the time.
- 42:01Speaker 2: No.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Sometimes you got to live for real. You can't just
- 42:03Speaker 1: run up here all the time and get burnt out.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to see the board. He changed
- 42:08Speaker 2: after what happened last year. You and I had the
- 42:12Speaker 2: same hairstyle three weeks into the season last year. Because
- 42:16Speaker 2: of your beliefs. Because of your beliefs. Do we want
- 42:19Speaker 2: to go.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Obviously, we're Big 10, guys. But do we want to
- 42:22Speaker 3: talk some ACC?
- 42:23Speaker 2: Do we want to talk some Big 12? Dude, I'll
- 42:25Speaker 2: jump into the ACC. I guarantee you. Can we all
- 42:29Speaker 2: say our ACC champion on three? Yes. All right. One, two, three. Miami. Okay,
- 42:33Speaker 2: so we're good. What a preview. That was nice. What
- 42:36Speaker 2: a preview. Right? Hey, that's a dab. You like that? Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Love Rhett Lashley. That's a dab for the week. Welcome
- 42:42Speaker 2: to Virginia Tech, James Franklin. Dabo Swinney. We'll see you
- 42:46Speaker 2: next week.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see Dabo next week. What is your kind
- 42:50Speaker 1: of thought about Clemson?
- 42:52Speaker 2: Clemson?
- 42:53Speaker 1: I think they've handled the offseason the best way they
- 42:56Speaker 1: can handle it. Not ranked in the top 25 for
- 42:59Speaker 1: the first time since, what, 2011? And they win the ACC.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Well, they kind of are, depending on who's top 25.
- 43:04Speaker 2: But point taken, they don't know who their starter is.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Probably Chris Vazina. I'm shocked that that's gone this long.
- 43:12Speaker 2: I don't think they feel really confident about about the
- 43:16Speaker 2: production aspect at quarterback to start the year. I think
- 43:19Speaker 2: they love the leadership aspect and the team galvanization aspect
- 43:23Speaker 2: of quarterback, but that stuff sounds good in spring and
- 43:26Speaker 2: summer and fall camp. But when your guy can't get
- 43:28Speaker 2: you wins, it doesn't really matter what the locker room
- 43:31Speaker 2: dynamic is so much anymore. And so like my big
- 43:34Speaker 2: fear is it's 16 to nothing at halftime of that
- 43:38Speaker 2: week one game. And then it's like, we're dead on arrival.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Like everything about last year is just compounded this year. However,
- 43:45Speaker 2: That's not fun to talk about. That's not. What's fun
- 43:47Speaker 2: to talk about is all the conversation around LSU right
- 43:51Speaker 2: now is external. It's all the off the field stuff.
- 43:54Speaker 2: It's Lane Kiffin dominating the headlines and no one's saying
- 43:57Speaker 2: a word about Clemson. And they're nine and a half,
- 44:02Speaker 2: ten and a half point dogs, depending on when you've
- 44:04Speaker 2: looked at FanDuel. And I don't know anybody that'll pick
- 44:07Speaker 2: them to win outright. I mean, not a single soul
- 44:09Speaker 2: on this planet will pick them to win outright. And
- 44:12Speaker 2: you and you and I know this is the most
- 44:15Speaker 2: unpredictable era of college football that we've ever experienced. Clemson
- 44:19Speaker 2: happens to be playing a team that has disproportionately been
- 44:23Speaker 2: put together via portal. So if ever LSU is going
- 44:26Speaker 2: to be able to be rattled early, external distractions... ton
- 44:31Speaker 2: of newness all over the place playing a team that
- 44:34Speaker 2: has a pedigree about itself historically entire world doubting them
- 44:39Speaker 2: that would be it so i say all that to
- 44:41Speaker 2: say they could go in there and pull a shocker
- 44:44Speaker 2: and they'd be on everyone's radar death valley there's also
- 44:47Speaker 2: a world there's also a world where clemson goes in
- 44:50Speaker 2: there and gets beat uh 23 to 16 something like
- 44:53Speaker 2: that and then everyone really forgets about them and they
- 44:57Speaker 2: fail to realize oh that wasn't a conference game Maybe
- 45:00Speaker 2: LSU's really good. And maybe it turns out Clemson fought
- 45:03Speaker 2: a really good team down to the wire, and they're
- 45:05Speaker 2: super sleepy mode. And then the next time they pop
- 45:08Speaker 2: up is week five when Miami comes to town.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Don't sleep on the travel out to Cal.
- 45:14Speaker 2: I'm not sleeping on that.
- 45:15Speaker 3: Don't sleep on the travel out to Cal.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Yeah, so what you're saying, it's in Clemson's best interest
- 45:20Speaker 1: to quietly lose their first game.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Strategically.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Strategically.
- 45:26Speaker 2: For conference per pi. Yeah, exactly.
- 45:28Speaker 1: You go and beat LSU, there's not a chance.
- 45:30Speaker 2: In hell you win the ACC. You don't want to
- 45:32Speaker 2: do that. You do not want to win this game.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I am with you on this.
- 45:34Speaker 1: You want to sit back, let your veteran quarterback show
- 45:37Speaker 1: whether you can or cannot because there's a new freshman
- 45:40Speaker 1: quarterback that's come in and everyone's giving Deshaun Watson, Trevor
- 45:44Speaker 1: Lawrence kind of vibes like this is the next one
- 45:46Speaker 1: coming in, but is he ready? So you go through
- 45:49Speaker 1: the first couple of games and you pop him out
- 45:51Speaker 1: week five or week four to get him tuned up
- 45:53Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I don't hate that take. I still think Miami handles business. Yeah,
- 45:58Speaker 2: I do too. Finally win the conference.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:00Speaker 2: But I'll just to go further. So people don't just
- 46:02Speaker 2: think I'm throwing stuff out there. I got Clemson in
- 46:05Speaker 2: the ACC title game. Okay. So that's who Miami plays.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Still got Miami winning it. So that means they play
- 46:11Speaker 2: twice this year. But I have Clemson putting together a
- 46:14Speaker 2: strong enough product to make the conference title game this year.
- 46:17Speaker 1: What would have to take place for Clemson to beat
- 46:20Speaker 1: Miami the second time around in your mind?
- 46:22Speaker 2: Just quarterback really, really being better early than you expect.
- 46:27Speaker 2: I am not going into this game against LSU expecting
- 46:31Speaker 2: some wow moment. I think they're going to struggle to
- 46:34Speaker 2: move the ball through the air. Now, here's the tradeoff.
- 46:37Speaker 2: If you listen to camp reports out of LSU, they're
- 46:40Speaker 2: going to be really young on the interior of the
- 46:42Speaker 2: defensive line. That run game that sucked at LSU last
- 46:46Speaker 2: year has had their way in scrimmages. So that either
- 46:49Speaker 2: means there have been quantum leaps of improvement in the
- 46:51Speaker 2: run game at LSU, or they're not quite ready up
- 46:54Speaker 2: front defensively yet. And if it's the latter, Clemson could
- 46:57Speaker 2: go in there and that quarterback could have a stat
- 46:59Speaker 2: line like, like nine for 16, but they run the
- 47:04Speaker 2: ball for 230 yards. They're plus two turnovers. Everything's sloppy
- 47:08Speaker 2: for LSU out of the gate. That's how they would
- 47:10Speaker 2: pull the upset, I think.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it would definitely be running the football. I'm trying
- 47:13Speaker 3: to imagine if you're a young cat in there, how
- 47:16Speaker 3: loud it's going to be in Death Valley for that
- 47:18Speaker 3: week one. All the chaos going on. Coaches yelling, everybody yelling,
- 47:21Speaker 3: and you're just getting gashed and you can't stop the run.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Clemson would have to take him to the deep end.
- 47:25Speaker 3: That's in their best interest. If they lose the game
- 47:29Speaker 3: by seven, that's where you can get some of these
- 47:31Speaker 3: AAC teams to go, hey, listen, they fought this team
- 47:34Speaker 3: down to the wire, but if you just get blown out,
- 47:36Speaker 3: which seems like the most likely scenario, now you're fully
- 47:39Speaker 3: in the radar.
- 47:40Speaker 2: That's full canoflage.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I do like Dabo entering the A-gap this year. On
- 47:43Speaker 3: the flip side. Wait, hold on.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Entering the A-gap in the sense that could be... On
- 47:48Speaker 2: the flip side, oh, Dabo could be on the hot seat.
- 47:49Speaker 2: An old dealer situation?
- 47:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Performance-based business.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:53Speaker 3: You know, how much Clemson folded last year. If you
- 47:55Speaker 3: start off, there is a possibility, a small one, because again,
- 48:00Speaker 3: I believe in Dabo with Clemson this year. I like
- 48:03Speaker 3: how they've handled everything mentally. I haven't picked up the
- 48:06Speaker 3: phone yet to call my good friend, Rich Bisaccio, who's
- 48:08Speaker 3: now the special teams coordinator at Clemson. Would love to,
- 48:11Speaker 3: to kind of know, hey, what's your pulse on this
- 48:13Speaker 3: team right now? Have not done that yet. Because there
- 48:16Speaker 3: is a world where Say they quietly lose and maybe
- 48:20Speaker 3: they shock Miami and go four and one in their
- 48:22Speaker 3: first five. There is a world where they could be
- 48:25Speaker 3: two and three in their first five if they get
- 48:27Speaker 3: throttled by LSU. And I know I've been joking and
- 48:31Speaker 3: smiling about Cal, but flying out to Cal, what... I'm
- 48:34Speaker 3: excited to see what Tosh LaPoi is going to do
- 48:36Speaker 3: in his first year as the head coach there with JKS.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Some of the weapons that they have, like, yeah, I'm
- 48:40Speaker 3: not saying Cal's going to shock a lot of people
- 48:42Speaker 3: this year, but it's not a game you sit there
- 48:44Speaker 3: and circle as a W. You lose to Cal traveling
- 48:47Speaker 3: across the coast, and then you lose at home to Miami. Obviously,
- 48:52Speaker 3: the national pressure there, it's going to get as loud
- 48:54Speaker 3: as ever, probably similar to the likes of like a
- 48:56Speaker 3: James Franklin, maybe not as high, but who knows in
- 48:58Speaker 3: this world of college football.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Do we think anyone else can compete in this league? Like, Franklin,
- 49:03Speaker 2: you're one Virginia Tech. I don't expect them to compete.
- 49:06Speaker 2: If I had someone, it would be either Louisville or SMU.
- 49:10Speaker 2: They play week three really under the radar game. That's
- 49:12Speaker 2: the week LSU Ole Miss happens. That'll dominate the conversation.
- 49:16Speaker 2: But SMU at Louisville week three, if it's not going
- 49:20Speaker 2: to be Clemson and Miami, I think the winner of
- 49:23Speaker 2: that game and Miami, those are your clear two.
- 49:26Speaker 3: I'm just not as sold on SMU. Love Jennings. But
- 49:30Speaker 3: as far as their line of scrimmage, young. And then
- 49:34Speaker 3: they're like a full rebuild on defense.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Portal in a ton. Portal in a ton of guys.
- 49:38Speaker 3: So we're going to get a look at how they're
- 49:40Speaker 3: going to do. But I just think there's a little
- 49:41Speaker 3: bit more stability at Louisville. And I'm kind of excited
- 49:45Speaker 3: to watch this Lincoln kid at quarterback, the backup at
- 49:47Speaker 3: Ohio State, come in. And, you know, they lacked. They
- 49:50Speaker 3: ran the football play defense last year. But with Braum
- 49:52Speaker 3: there pairing up with Lincoln, the backup from Ohio State,
- 49:55Speaker 3: I'm excited to kind of watch and see what they're
- 49:57Speaker 3: going to do.
- 49:57Speaker 2: They have a favorable schedule.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Like I have them going 10 and two. And
- 50:01Speaker 3: playing in the ACC title game against Miami and losing
- 50:04Speaker 3: to Miami.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:05Speaker 1: You brush those unders and overs up.
- 50:06Speaker 2: You look at the ACC.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Who's like a sneaky team? Because I think we're all
- 50:11Speaker 1: aligned that it's like Miami, then everybody else. And then
- 50:13Speaker 1: it's a slew between like two and six, two and seven.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Lines are tight with the ACC. So I don't have
- 50:19Speaker 3: like a sneaky team. I like Miami over 10 and
- 50:22Speaker 3: a half. The only game I have them losing this
- 50:24Speaker 3: year is to Notre Dame.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Okay.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Um louisville is sitting at eight and a half right
- 50:30Speaker 3: now i have that i have that over yeah over
- 50:32Speaker 3: eight and a half um virginia tech they're sitting at
- 50:37Speaker 3: six and a half on the books i have them over.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Okay we're back in the over category back.
- 50:41Speaker 3: In the over stanford under three and a half okay
- 50:45Speaker 3: now he's back now new willy's back i took it
- 50:48Speaker 3: if you're gonna do nasty congratulations stanford you beat hawaii
- 50:51Speaker 3: and you beat elon.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Kansas under. Kansas under five and a half. Oh wait,
- 51:00Speaker 2: that's Big 12. Which we'll talk about. That's Big 12.
- 51:02Speaker 2: I accidentally quartered it down here.
- 51:04Speaker 3: And I just kind of read.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Yeah, the way the whole system works. A team that
- 51:08Speaker 1: I like, they're at six and a half right now
- 51:10Speaker 1: is Georgia Tech.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Oh, I don't like Georgia Tech.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Mendoza's brother, he comes in, he just watched his brother
- 51:16Speaker 1: for an entire year lead a team to a Heisman Trophy,
- 51:20Speaker 1: a national championship and a Heisman Trophy after being a
- 51:22Speaker 1: part of the worst team in college football history. You
- 51:25Speaker 1: got Justice Hayes who ran for, what, 857 yards in
- 51:28Speaker 1: seven games and 10 touchdowns, was getting into the Heisman
- 51:31Speaker 1: type of conversation and they have multiple other backs that
- 51:34Speaker 1: can run the ball as well. So they'll have you know, three,
- 51:37Speaker 1: four guys that can get it done. An offensive line
- 51:39Speaker 1: that's like, I think, top 20 heaviest guys. And they're
- 51:43Speaker 1: talking about them being like big boys, dancing bears, ripping
- 51:47Speaker 1: all over the place. Luke Farrell, linebacker at Georgia Tech.
- 51:51Speaker 2: This is a.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Guy that he's like wearing the green dot, running around
- 51:54Speaker 1: a little bit. So I don't see them being world beaters.
- 51:57Speaker 1: We're going to have the conversation of Louisville SMU or
- 51:59Speaker 1: Clemson who's going to go play Miami. But I do
- 52:02Speaker 1: like them over six and a half. You like– see,
- 52:04Speaker 1: that's where– I like them over 6 1⁄2. That's where
- 52:06Speaker 1: the line was, like, too tight for me. Like, even Cal. Like,
- 52:09Speaker 1: I'm excited and bullish on Cal this year. But then their.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Line at 6 1⁄2.
- 52:13Speaker 1: That West to East stat.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think, too, like, Cal.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Will be a team– I'm assuming this– a team that
- 52:19Speaker 3: could travel well because Dan Lanning hasn't lost when he's traveled.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Tosh coming from that, he's going to understand the operation,
- 52:26Speaker 3: the urgency.
- 52:26Speaker 2: That needs to take place.
- 52:28Speaker 3: I just like Tosh Lapoi, too. And with JKS, when
- 52:31Speaker 3: you have a salty quarterback like that, You're always going
- 52:34Speaker 3: to have a shot.
- 52:35Speaker 2: One thing we haven't brought up, Florida State last year
- 52:38Speaker 2: shook the world with Alabama. Dude, their schedule's rough, man.
- 52:41Speaker 1: It's not going to happen for them.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Their team is rough.
- 52:43Speaker 3: Their team is rough. Florida State's a team I like
- 52:47Speaker 3: to play optimistic with because Norvell, a friend of the show,
- 52:49Speaker 3: fully loved the conversation when we sat down with him.
- 52:53Speaker 3: But as I'm going through their entire schedule, they just
- 52:55Speaker 3: have some tough out-of-conference games and he's entering the A-gap
- 53:02Speaker 3: and he might get that chin- yapped.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Yeah might wake up to some smelling salts be like
- 53:09Speaker 1: you tell me the months of the year backwards buddy
- 53:10Speaker 1: if we're gonna get back in this game.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Here's the problem if you were in the hospital and
- 53:14Speaker 2: you're on the road to recovery sometimes if you're on
- 53:17Speaker 2: the road to recovery you're being kept alive mechanically you
- 53:21Speaker 2: got all the tubes hooked up to you yeah you
- 53:23Speaker 2: got all that stuff that didn't exist 100 years ago
- 53:26Speaker 2: and it exists now and you're good and eventually hopefully
- 53:29Speaker 2: you can detach yourself from all that and you can
- 53:31Speaker 2: bring yourself back to full health the problem is they've
- 53:34Speaker 2: removed all that from Florida State. There's virtually no support.
- 53:40Speaker 2: I'm not going to say the financial powers that be
- 53:44Speaker 2: down there did not allow them to overspend on a
- 53:47Speaker 2: portal class. And it's almost like they've said, we're removing
- 53:51Speaker 2: all of these devices and you're on your own. If
- 53:54Speaker 2: you survive, great. In a perfect world, we'd love to win.
- 53:57Speaker 2: We'd love to be behind you. But It feels like
- 53:59Speaker 2: something in the middle is the worst outcome for them
- 54:01Speaker 2: this year. Either shock the world and win nine games
- 54:04Speaker 2: or just have it fall off the cliff and you
- 54:06Speaker 2: just rip the bandage off and you start from scratch.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Side note, I don't know how great a job this
- 54:13Speaker 2: is right now. I don't know how the market views
- 54:16Speaker 2: the Florida State job. I thought for all the world
- 54:19Speaker 2: they'd make a really, really hard run at James Franklin
- 54:22Speaker 2: last year. That would have been exciting. Who knows if
- 54:26Speaker 2: slash when this job opens, who they can make a
- 54:28Speaker 2: run at this year. But my breakdown of FSU is
- 54:31Speaker 2: always the same one you just said. It's, man, I
- 54:33Speaker 2: love Mike. I hope they get it done. I know.
- 54:36Speaker 2: And then it's, but look at this roster. I know.
- 54:40Speaker 3: And it's like they got Tony White as a DC,
- 54:42Speaker 3: former Nebraska cat.
- 54:44Speaker 2: It's a phenomenal point. It's a phenomenal point. Yeah. Former Nebraska.
- 54:52Speaker 2: How long have we been recording?
- 54:53Speaker 1: About 50 minutes. So 50 minutes of recording, and that's
- 54:58Speaker 1: the first time Nebraska's been mentioned in the show, right?
- 55:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:00Speaker 2: That's a new record. It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. I mean,
- 55:04Speaker 2: that is incredible.
- 55:05Speaker 1: You have grown leaps and bounds.
- 55:08Speaker 2: I had 11 and a half minutes under. I think
- 55:11Speaker 2: you took around a push. Yeah. And we got 50
- 55:14Speaker 2: minutes in. Can I tell you guys something? Shock the world.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Mike Norvell.
- 55:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:18Speaker 2: Can I tell you guys something?
- 55:19Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 55:19Speaker 2: I'm having a great time. You having fun?
- 55:21Speaker 3: I hope the viewers are too, and I hope they're
- 55:22Speaker 3: leaving comments about it, because I'm having a great time
- 55:24Speaker 3: talking some ball with you guys.
- 55:26Speaker 2: I am as well. Huskers, I do have over six
- 55:28Speaker 2: and a half.
- 55:28Speaker 3: We'll get to the big ten in a little bit.
- 55:30Speaker 3: We interrupt this episode to bring you Neutral. Neutral tastes
- 55:33Speaker 3: great and tastes so much better than what else is
- 55:34Speaker 3: out there. It's made with real vodka and real juice.
- 55:36Speaker 3: That's what makes it taste great. It comes in a
- 55:38Speaker 3: variety of flavors. The popular ones like pineapple and watermelon.
- 55:42Speaker 3: New flavors, lime and strawberry. Perfect for social occasions, and
- 55:46Speaker 3: it's such a crowd pleaser, especially during the summer. Think
- 55:49Speaker 3: on the beach with friends, at an outdoor bar, on
- 55:51Speaker 3: the lake, at a music festival. It's the perfect time
- 55:54Speaker 3: of year to grab a 12-pack of Neutral for the
- 55:56Speaker 3: beach or grab a bucket deal in your favorite bar
- 55:58Speaker 3: to celebrate the summer.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Neutral, keep it tasty.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Real quick, we're going to take a small break. That
- 56:03Speaker 1: right there, that's a Lucy. That's my daily. This bad
- 56:06Speaker 1: boy right here, Mango, four milligram. Hands down, that bite
- 56:09Speaker 1: and burst is where it pops and hits the flavor.
- 56:11Speaker 1: It never gets old. I mostly use it to lock in.
- 56:14Speaker 1: And if I ever need to focus or get a
- 56:15Speaker 1: little energy boost, this is what I reach for. Whether
- 56:18Speaker 1: it's pre-workout, post-workout, does not matter. It works either way.
- 56:21Speaker 1: These bad boys go up to 12 milligrams. So if
- 56:23Speaker 1: you need something more, some extra kick, They got you
- 56:26Speaker 1: covered in that too. The thing I respect about these
- 56:28Speaker 1: guys the most, I'm going to tell you right now,
- 56:30Speaker 1: they're independently owned, proudly American made, not some big tobacco
- 56:34Speaker 1: brand playing dress up. And that's what truly matters. Lucy

- 56:58Speaker 1: an addictive chemical. Let's get back to this episode. We've
- 57:00Speaker 1: had the Big 12 real quick.
- 57:01Speaker 2: All right, one, two, three. Texas Tech. Okay, perfect. Clearly
- 57:05Speaker 2: needed that for the club. Texas Tech is the answer.
- 57:08Speaker 1: And when it comes to how far they may get
- 57:10Speaker 1: in the playoffs, it's really will Hammond and Kenny stay
- 57:12Speaker 1: healthy and how much they utilize his legs during the season.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Other than that, they play BYU in the Big 12 Championship.
- 57:18Speaker 1: I think BYU takes a step back because they lost
- 57:21Speaker 1: their Defensive coordinator, Jay Hill, to the University of Michigan.
- 57:24Speaker 1: So whatever the number on that is, let's hit that.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Had a bagel under that as well. Before Jay Hill
- 57:30Speaker 1: entered the picture for BYU, they were calling for Kalani
- 57:33Speaker 1: Shestaki's head.
- 57:34Speaker 2: He comes in.
- 57:35Speaker 1: They're a top 20 defense in all of college football
- 57:37Speaker 1: last year. They're in it. There's one of those teams
- 57:39Speaker 1: that I think they went 11-1 regular season. Am I
- 57:42Speaker 1: correct in that? 11-1 only lost Texas Tech. And we're
- 57:45Speaker 1: kind of a team that was never spoken about of
- 57:46Speaker 1: why they didn't make the playoffs. We're like, BYU, you
- 57:48Speaker 1: go sit over there. while we argue about Notre Dame
- 57:51Speaker 1: and Miami and Texas and all those teams. I think
- 57:55Speaker 1: this is a one-way street similar to the ACC. If
- 57:59Speaker 1: there's a team that I like shaking it up a
- 58:00Speaker 1: little bit, they're playing week zero. I kind of like TCU.
- 58:05Speaker 1: I like, was it Jaden Craig from Harvard? Set an
- 58:09Speaker 1: all-time passing leader there at the University of Harvard who
- 58:13Speaker 1: played there, Fitzy Baby, friend of the show. And so
- 58:16Speaker 1: he's going to go in there, 6'3, dynamic cat. He's
- 58:18Speaker 1: going to get things done with his legs.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Other than that, that's what I have for you in
- 58:21Speaker 2: the Big 12. I think Arizona can be sneaky.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Obviously, there's always Dillingham and Tempe, who's going to make
- 58:27Speaker 1: the most out of whatever he has from an offensive standpoint.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Arizona State's just got one of the harder schedules when.
- 58:34Speaker 2: You're looking at the Big 12. Utah, too.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Utah, I'm flirting with the over on Utah because schedule.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:41Speaker 3: I like Texas Tech, I guess, on the over. Love
- 58:45Speaker 3: Kansas under five and a half.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Love. I love the Jayhawks under five. The amount of
- 58:52Speaker 2: premeditated undershots at Kansas. You mixed Kansas into the ACC preview.
- 58:57Speaker 2: That's how bad you hate Kansas this year.
- 59:03Speaker 3: That one might be a pound the table because we're
- 59:04Speaker 3: going to be doing confidence meter when we're doing units.
- 59:06Speaker 2: We didn't even break down what the hell we're going to.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Be doing this year. Go ahead and break it down
- 59:12Speaker 1: for us. Because if I'm being 100%, I'm not fully,
- 59:15Speaker 1: I don't fully understand.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Okay, I'll tell you. Explain it to me.
- 59:18Speaker 3: Yeah, no one's here. We're going to have a Ford leaderboard.
- 59:21Speaker 3: So last year we talked games. We kept our records,
- 59:23Speaker 3: everything else. But we're going to have, go ahead.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Did you say Ford leaderboard?
- 59:26Speaker 3: Ford leaderboard.
- 59:28Speaker 1: So Ford is now an official sponsor of the locker room?
- 59:30Speaker 2: Are you kidding me?
- 59:31Speaker 3: For everybody that's still tuned in, there'll be a forward leaderboard.
- 59:39Speaker 3: Last year, we kept records for picking spreads and we'd
- 59:42Speaker 3: come out week to week having all of our records.
- 59:45Speaker 2: This year, it's all units. So we'll be putting units
- 59:49Speaker 2: on there.
- 59:49Speaker 3: So Josh Pate, if he feels good about a team winning,
- 59:53Speaker 3: but doesn't want to take four and a half, five
- 59:55Speaker 3: and a half, He could just go money line. He's
- 59:57Speaker 3: going to place one unit on whatever his bet is. Obviously,
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: it doesn't give you the rewards if you actually take
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: the spread or move the line against your favor to
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: earn more, but we're going to be going units every week.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: We're going to have a confidence meter. Think stadium pulse.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: You can go up to, say, five units.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Is that the number?
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: Got it. Five units, bang the table. We will know
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: what our units are. If we're betting on the game,
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: You're not tied to having to pick the spread. You're
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: going to spend a unit and you're going to spend
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: a unit on what you think that game's going to be.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: And then every week on the four leaderboard, we will
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: be able to keep up with our units.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Whether it's a straight number, whether it's fractional.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: I think fractional.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I don't even really know what fractional means.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Like 1.54, some shit like that.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Oh, I don't want to do that.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: That sounds very confusing for my brain.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: But we have to just keep, we're keeping record of
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: our units.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: So if I am doing a unit and I'm semi-confident
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: about the game, I can do 2.3?
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Yeah. No, no, no, no, no, no. I messed that up.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: I messed that up. I messed that up. It's one
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: through five. One unit. One through five.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Stadium pulse, the higher the pulse is, the higher my
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: confidence is. That's what I pound the table and say five.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Like when Josh comes in and gives us a crowbar
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: theory game, this is going to be the crowbar theory.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: And he's pounding the table. He's like, I got five
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: units on this game. That's how confident I am. So
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: he'll put five said units on the game. Whatever the
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: payout is, it's going to be seen in units.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Got you. But crowbar theory.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: It's not. This could happen. This could be like, hey,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: just in case you put crowbar through the spokes.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: And so what we're saying, the crowbar theory is not
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: a confidence?
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Hey, I'm messing with you. Don't let the crowbar confuse you.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: But it is important.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: And if I want to take a money line, I
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: can take a money line and just put one unit
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: on it.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Okay. And if... TCU, one unit, Moneyline.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: We'll do that in the future shows. Because this is
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: like a futures one. So every conference champion that we have,
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: we will be placing one unit on that conference.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Got you. All right. Understood. Yes, sir. Let's say it's
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: week two. And let's say Oklahoma's headed into Michigan. And
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: let's say Oklahoma's, I don't know, one and a half,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: two point favorite. Let's say, I think Michigan's going to
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: win the game. I'm supremely confident. And I... Pound the
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: table for Michigan. Let's hypothetically say that happens. Yeah, I
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: like everything. And Oklahoma smokes them 30 to 6. Do
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: I lose five units? You lose. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Because you're saying confidence meter. I'm pounding the table on
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: this one. You're supremely confident. I'm placing five units on
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: this game.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: So you can't just run your mouth on this show
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: all year about being confident, knowing there are no consequences
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: if you're wrong. You really have to pay a price
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: this year. What's the price? You got something going on
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: in that beautiful brain of yours? No, I just want
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: to make sure all the rules are established. I'm with you.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: To everyone so that we all understand. Look, I'll put
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: the mirror back on me. Here's to everyone.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I'm thinking, you're the one that ran out on me
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: when Ohio State Michigan was happening.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: But I ran to the right side.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: What if it didn't though? Have you seen the butterfly
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: effect by Ashton Kutcher?
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: I have. Amy Smart in that movie, yeah. Lou Elastic
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: from Remember the Titans.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Maybe you're the problem. Maybe you were the reason why
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: we lost. Think about that, Josh.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: What did I do about being supremely confident last year?
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Because I think I got second in this. I lost
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: you by one point.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: You lost to who?
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: This is the same guy that was like, I'm hammering Alabama.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Yes, this is the problem. I don't want you to continue.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: So it's possible for someone to finish with negative units
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: on this game. Yes. It's not just degrees of positive.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Someone could finish in the red this year. I like that. Yes. Yes.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: So you're going to know, hey.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Was I fruitful and bountiful and making money even though
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: I lost some big games that we're getting clowned over?
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Or did you just have such a terrible year and
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: you're going to be seeing if we lost money in
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: the units that we spent?
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Is there a punishment for whoever gets third place this year?
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: And are we going to follow through with said punishment?
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: We're going to shave our heads.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: I think one of us should have to grow their
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: hair out for a whole year. How do you know
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I'm not doing that right now? Sounds like a fun game.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: That's good we got to explain what's going to happen
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: on the show this year.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and just to clarify, you get one pound the
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: table a week for each of you.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: That's it?
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't get a pound the table for multiple picks.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: Is there a set amount of ammo or units we have?
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: Well, it's going to be, depending on the slate, five
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: to seven games that you will pick from and a parlay,
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: and you can set in between really one and four units,
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: but one... five unit play or a pound the table.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Now what if I'm not supremely confident about any games can.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I go ones across the board I got one at
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: all you do.
- 1:04:52Speaker 5: Not have to pound the table or if you're semi-confident
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: you do three you do two.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: And if you're a scared little boy you just go
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: money lines or move the line.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: To where it's like this is minus three the Matthews
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: method yeah.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: The Matthews the odds will matter if you do money
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: line you will not win as many.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: Units yes units won't go up if you're taking easy
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: picks this.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Year it sounds like they will if I just take
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: a money line and do one unit But if I
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: take the spread... So.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: If they're minus 800 and I bet five units, what
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: happens then?
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: You would.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: You get the payout on those five units, which would
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: be minus 800, which wouldn't be a whole lot. All good, guys.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: It's a good question.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: I'm just trying to learn the rules of the game.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: It's a dangerous game. I'm actually.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: While you guys are explaining this to me, I'm still
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: trying to internalize and realize why Josh Pate looked at
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: me that way when he was talking to Will.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: If I'm being 100% honest, I'm trying to figure out
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: what I did last year. I had a question for Mr.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: Graveyard, but now it's fleeting brain.
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: Well, and with these futures picks, you'll always be in
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: it because these are higher odds than one unit per
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: each of these picks. So you'll always be in it,
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: even if you're behind. And then if your futures come
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: at the end of the year, come into fruition, you
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: can go from number three.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: To number one.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: If you're negative, say a little under zero, and your
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Heisman hits, you're jumping.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: You can jump both of us. That juices me out, dude.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: What's the punishment? We'll figure it out. We don't know yet.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: If it's that figured out, we're going to have the
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: same issue as our fantasy league.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Yeah, but you're wanting us to figure it out right
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: now in this moment in real time. In my brain,
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: I'm thinking we can find some time to try and
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: figure this out so that way we're not talking for
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: another year.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: We are recording a show. Yeah. Gotcha. So we can
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: figure it out. We need to have it figured out
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: before next week starts. I just want to make sure
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: we don't have the same issue. We follow through with punishments. Yeah, integrity.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: I do like Kansas under five and a half just
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: to get it before we move on to the Big Ten.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Dude, we got it. You hate Kansas. I don't hate
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: the Jayhawks. You hate the Jayhawks. Rock Chalk Jayhawks. Basketball school. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Basketball school.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Big Ten. We all feel good about saying who we
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: think is going to win the Big Ten on three?
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Hang on, I got to remember. Yeah. Yep.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: I don't think we're all on the same page, but
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: do you guys want to do that or leave it
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: up to the audience to find out?
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: I think we can do the one, two, three.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: One, two, three.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Ohio State. Who did you even say? Oregon.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: I like Oregon. Who'd you say? Ohio State. Again. Yeah.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: We're on the same page, which I actually hate. Despise it.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: I despise the fact that I am being like, yeah,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: I think Ohio State's going to win the Big Ten
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: this year.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Do you have Ohio State beating Oregon in the regular
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: season too?
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: I do. Oh, wow.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I do.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Oregon still makes the playoffs. Oregon's still in it, but
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: they got to go to, they got to go to Columbus.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: That's very difficult to do. Jeremiah Smith's been subtweeting every
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: single wide receiver out there. He's talking about, he's putting
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: training day, Denzel Washington, I'm King Kong and this motherfucker
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: type stuff. Julian San has been under a squat rack
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: this whole off season. We looked at last year, like
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: they have so many pieces they have to recover and
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: find out after all these guys left the NFL. And
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: then we quickly found out who Arvel Reese is. They've
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: got five more guys in the linebacker room that can
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: do that. They have a great defensive line room. They
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: have Chris Henry Jr., who is a freshman. They're already
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: seeing his praises. And what's his name?
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: Brock what?
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: Brock Boyd.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Brock Boyd. Salty white boy, salty kid. If you haven't
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: seen the video, there's a viral video of guys on
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: the sideline being like.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: They don't get you white chocolate. Watch out where you go,
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: get your ass.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: And this kid just routes up some poor unsuspecting DB
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: in the middle of the end zone, comes back talking
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: that shit. I was at UFC for the McGregor fight.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: We'll just call it the Patty Pimblitt fight because that's
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: really what it was. I was at UFC for the
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Patty Pimblitt fight and I'm walking through, I'm going to
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: sit in my little seat. The people sit me down
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and I see two Big boys. They're like, Taylor.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: I'm like, a couple of Hawks.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: I give them a nice little prom wave. And they go, OH,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: h hit me with one of those don't clip that
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: and i like i get them like okay yeah that's
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: fun and they're like no no come here come here
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: and uh big friends of the show we're singing josh
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: praises singing for loving josh uh josh pate and they're
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: like i'm like hey what's the word on this this
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: cricket chris henry kid is he actually like the truth
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: they're like yeah he's really good Brock, Brock Boyd, this
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: kid is unbelievable. And I kind of just glanced over
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: that they're running back. They rushed for a thousand yards
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: last year. He's running with the twos right now because
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: they have so many guys. They have a hell of
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: a schedule. I just think like they don't make it
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: two years ago. They make it in this year and
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: get dummy, lose to Indiana. I see them winning the
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Big Ten. I hate admitting it, but I feel like
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: it's my duty to sit here and look at everything
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: and be like, yeah, Ohio State seems like that team
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: this year. I see them only losing one game.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: I gave serious thought to Indiana. I gave serious thought
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: to Oregon. I gave thought, not serious thought, to USC
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: because they're kind of periphery to me. I will give
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: thought to Penn State in as far as they could
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: make the conference title game, but I always came back
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: to Ohio State. I always came back to trusting both
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: lines of scrimmage. I always came back to trusting both coordinators.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: I kept coming back to really what I think is
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: the entire focal point of this conference, and that is
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Julian Sayen leveling up his level of play and also
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: how many different ways they could win a game if
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: they needed to. Because I think they could go shoot
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: out if they needed to. I think they could run
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: the ball 47 times if they needed to. I'm like you.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: There's like a certain baseline of defense that I just
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: trust I'll get from them. They're Georgia. They're Oklahoma in
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: that way that I just kind of trust that side
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: of the ball. Only thing that I would question is,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: all right, if they do that, because I feel like
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: I'm describing Georgia, and I kind of am. They're just
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: in the Big Ten. So I'm picking them to win
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: the conference, just like I picked Georgia to win the conference.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: My only question is, is this the kind of situation
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: where you guys win the league, you get to the playoff,
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: And the same thing happens to you this year that
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: happened last year. And your conference title is wonderful, but
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: you're a quick out. Because that's what I had picked
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: for Georgia. And we'll see what the playoff predictions hold
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: later in the show. But I've got a different team
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: going further from the Big Ten in the playoff than
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: I do the Big Ten champ, who I picked to
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: be Ohio State. You and I are aligned in everything
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: you just said.
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: You guys are kind of talking me into Ohio State.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: Because it's like, we'll get the playoffs. They're going to
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: be in the playoffs. They're probably the most equipped to
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: run through their schedule and win the Big Ten Championship.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: But I have the same thing. I have a different
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: Big Ten team making up. Here's what's crazy, though. Ohio
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: State plays the toughest schedule in this league. So your
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: mind would say, well, if they're good enough to make
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: it through that schedule, make it to Indy, win the
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: Big Ten title. What's the playoff going to throw at
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: them that they didn't already experience? My answer to that,
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: this is really the part where I just interview myself.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: The answer to that is anybody who's in the playoff.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: is there because they scaled up at the right time.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: They're playing their best ball at the right time. They're revving.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: They're revving the engine at the right time. And like
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: Ohio State did that two years ago. So Ohio State
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: is facing versions of teams who were doing what they
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: did two years ago. Like Ohio State played Miami. Well,
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: so did Louisville and SMU and beat them. But Ohio
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: State dealt with a totally different Miami team come playoff time.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: And that's where I justify, at least in my own mind,
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: so I can go to sleep at night. I justify
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: picking a team to win a league but then maybe
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: them not going as far in the playoff tournament as
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: some other teams that even they may have beaten in
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: the regular season. You and I are so aligned right now, dude.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: I couldn't agree more. But you're on Oregon.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: You guys just wax poetic.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: But, hey, your pick's awesome.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: I like Oregon because I'm with you. There's not a
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: better roster in college football than the Ducks. Yeah, they
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: have so much return. Dante Moore, he's going to be
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: a beast. They get wide receiver one back that they
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: lost last year in training camp.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Um, I just, I'm into the idea of Ohio state
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: beating them in the regular season at Ohio state and
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: that vengeance, that blood being there when they meet again
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: in the big 10 championship. And not to mention, we're
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: not even talking about Indiana right now. No, it's just
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: so weird. Yeah. I got Indiana in the playoff. I
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: just want the Hoosiers to know I got them in
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: the playoff. I just have met 10 and two, not,
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: I have Oregon.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Going 11-1, only lost to Ohio State, and I just
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: have them getting that get back once they get to
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: the Big Ten Championship.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: So you got a rematch in Indianapolis.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: I have a rematch in Indianapolis.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: All right. Now, that probably also means Ohio State goes
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: to the playoff. Probably, right? Which means they could play
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: a third time if the bracket lines up right. But
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: I don't think that's the question. The question is, how
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: do we, as a show, feel like we need to
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: handle Dan Lanning this year?
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: Taylor kind of just kicked him in the teeth.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: No.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: Not true.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: He's a Ryan Day guy. We haven't got to the
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: playoff portion of our stuff. And don't do that.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: This is how you're going to get back.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: I think Ohio State's going to win the Big Ten
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: this year. That's the part of the show we're at
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: You're going to hit a lane where they're like, hey,
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: I kind of got you dropping both. But don't worry.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Check out this.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Yeah, if he watches the full show, I'm sure he'll
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: be happy with the end of it. I'm sure he'll
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: be happy with the end of it. Their roster is incredible.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Their running back broke his collarbone. He'll be out for
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: the first couple weeks. and the backup ran, rushed for
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: 8.7 yards per yard, more than the starter last year.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Dan Lanning doesn't like to highlight guys, but the wide
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: receiver Stewart, he's like, this guy just continues.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: To elevate his game.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: There are two defensive linemen, and I have messed up
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: their names every single time, but Mateo got that one,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: and then Tui Oti.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Did I say it right?
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Let's fucking go, Cody, and you're free to use your
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: words too if I look at you. Both those guys,
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: I think they counted for 20 sacks last year. In
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: the middle of their defense, they got Bear Alexander. He's 6'3, 3'16,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: more like 3'30. Their defense across the board is absolutely incredible.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Bro, their secondary?
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Their backup quarterback has Big Ten starts under his belt.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: It was a five-star coming out of high school.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I think his last name's Riolu. He lost some weight, too.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: Did he? Yeah, he's not fat anymore.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: It's okay to say that when someone's lost the weight.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, afterwards. You can't go the opposite way. His words,
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: not mine.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not fat anymore.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know who else is also trimmed down?
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes. I digress on that, though.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Hey, but on their secondary, they have... De'Corey and Moore,
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: I haven't even brought him up yet.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Okay, go on.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: I was going to say they have like four or
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: five stars, four more top 50 guys, four more top... Like,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: they're back in. Their secondary is... Loaded they're good.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Clump went through the roster yesterday from 0 to 10
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Just the numbers 0 to 10. There are seven five
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: stars in there Yeah, and that's as far as we
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: went before like my god, the biggest the biggest hang-up
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: is the.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: OC Well, hold on What do you mean hang up? Like,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: you don't know much about him?
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: Well, he's been a part of the team since, what, 20...
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: He's been around.
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: Both corners.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: There's two new corners.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but landing defense, like, you never... Like, to me,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: it's like, you know the defense is always going to
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: be good. The thing is, with the OC is, like...
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Morris sat there and he's been like he's the Albert
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Einstein of football like they have a great relationship they're
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: dialed in so I have extremely some might say the
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: highest of expectations.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: For Oregon this year except for winning the conference except
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: for winning the conference here's what we need to do
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: to make ourselves feel better about that and especially you
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: because you're picking them to win the league I'm taking
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: them to win the league to make yourself feel better
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: about that you've got to explain away the bloodbath that
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: was the Peach Bowl last year Against Indiana. Because that exists.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: Like everyone's bringing up that Rose Bowl. Indiana did it
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: to Alabama. Indiana did worse things to Oregon. And yet
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: we're bought right back in. So here's what I'm going
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: to say. Because Dan won't say this. But he needs
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: an excuse. And I'm going to make an excuse for it.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Don't give him an excuse, man.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: No, I'm going to give it so he doesn't have to.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: Because what I'm about to say is true. Their coaching
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: staff was a disaster in the playoff last year. Because
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: they had two guys already checked out. One going to Kentucky.
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: One going to Cal. Dan's never been through it before. Really,
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: no one's been through it before because our schedule is
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: stupid and our calendar is stupid right now. And he
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: did the best he could in decision making. But in retrospect,
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: I guarantee you he looks back on that and says,
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: we would have been better had they just gone. We
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: would have been better if we had just promoted from
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: within for the playoff, because I think that was very
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: counterproductive for them. So Indiana won by roughly 100 points
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: in that game. Water under the bridge.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they look at Ole Miss. They look at the
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: way Ole Miss handled it. He's like, we probably should
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: have done that.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Also, great chip on your shoulder, too, because they've been
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: steamrolled both times.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: Ohio State beating by 100. Indiana beating by 100.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: And, buddy, you know Kurt Cignetti blew that cell phone
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: up over the offseason. Big Nettie.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: The problem was it wasn't Dan's cell phone.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: Big Nettie probably texted him this offseason and said, how's
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: she doing?
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: No, he texted his wife and said, tell your husband
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I said hello. That's the worst part, man.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: Dan knows he can't do anything about it. Until. He
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: just has to walk out on the porch and shake
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: his head. Yeah.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Put his hands on his hips, look at the skyline
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: and just.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: Put on a pair of high heels and go to work.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: That's all you can do. You know it's raining up
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: there too. Yeah. What am I doing outside? What the
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: fuck is this? Big ass porch. But I mean, Oregon's
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: roster is incredible.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: And the Big Ten, I mean. Are we just gonna
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: go into playoff mode or are we gonna?
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: No, hold on. You didn't mention a word about what
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: you think Michigan's gonna do this year. Yeah, I got
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: some totals as well. First Big Ten total. Yeah. Kansas under.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Okay, so here's my thought on Michigan, dude.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: I am so outrageously... optimistic of what the season can
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: be that we could be in the Big Ten championship.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: We could win the Big Ten championship.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Speak up.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: I'm like that for a second. They could win it all.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: All right. They could win the championship.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: I'm saying, listen, the reports coming out in August, talking
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: to some of the coaches, I won't name names. I
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: will give their job title, their quarterback coach. They are
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: over the moon. about Bryce Underwood, his feet, his decision-making,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: his work ethic has never been an issue. They absolutely
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: love it. You bring in J.J. Buchanan from Utah. He
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: has been a guy that's like, this kid, you put
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: a 50-50 ball up to him, it's 90-10. Like a
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: couple of back shoulder throws, no problem. Jason Beck, wildly
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: creative on the offensive side of the ball. You use
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: more personnel than any other coordinator in college football last year.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Very creative.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: And it makes you, as a Michigan fan, you're like,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: It fires you up so much because this team goes
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: 9-3 last year with a completely different schedule with the
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: most vanilla day one install type of offense.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: And a few things going on behind the scenes.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Just a couple of things going on behind the scenes
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: that might be a bit of a distraction. And thank
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: God for Lane Kiffin and what happened to Ole Miss
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: kind of took away from what was going down or
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: going up in Ann Arbor. Jay Hill comes in. We
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: kind of brushed over him with BYU. He runs that
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: 4-2-5 defense. The signaling from Michigan is the defensive line.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: With a lot of the fan bases, we don't know
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: where they're going to be. That's one of the strengths
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: of our team is how dominant these guys can be
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: going into this year. You listen to Whittingham talk. The
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: structure of Whittingham, the culture that he is, the no
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: BS type of stuff, the way that they made gains
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: in the weight room. As I sit back as a
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Michigan fan, you're seeing all the.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Right headlines right now.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: About how Bryce Underwood goes into the second scrimmage, and
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: he's lighting things up. You had Savion Hyder, who was
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: a five-star athlete, number one running back, and so they're like,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: this kid's as advertised. He's going to get a lot
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: of snaps this year.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Yes. Utah, number two rushing offense in the country last year. Yeah. Continue. Okay.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: And now also Jordan Marshall, who took over after Justice
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Hayes got hurt. He was, I think he had over
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: 800 yards last year, and he played the second half
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: of the season. He was splitting some carries here and there.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: There is a big fight for who's going to be
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: wide receiver number three. And every guy they talk about
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: was four-star or five-star J.J. French, who was at Texas
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: last year. He comes up, Josh Pate.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: When's the last time you felt this good about a
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: Michigan wide receiver core? 2012. It's been a long time. Yeah. Continue. Okay.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: All things to be said, there's structure, there's stability in
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Ann Arbor. Whittingham is the perfect hire for the state
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: of where that university was, given all the extracurriculars that
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: are taking place with the last coaching staff and the
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: coaching staff before that. The biggest controversy taking place at
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: the University of Michigan right now is, does the head
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: coach hate Ohio State enough? Which is the best place
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: that we could possibly ask to be for after what's
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: all gone on since 2023. So I feel very bullish
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: on Michigan.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: I mean, we're week zero. We got a long way
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: to go until January. No, no, no, no. I'm making
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: a compliment. Hold on, let me finish. You will never
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: more effectively talk me into anything than you just talked
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: me into something I was already into, but you didn't
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: watch last night's show.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: I did not?
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: I'm really high on Michigan. If you told me they're
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: the third best team in this league this year, I
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: wouldn't bat an eye at that. I can see that
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: kind of ceiling. Go ahead.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Okay, so when we first started the Big Ten Talk,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: you brought up Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State, and then mentioned USC.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Yeah. I was building towards this. Because I wanted you
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: to bring up Michigan. I just want to know.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Sometimes when you watch a movie, you need your wife
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: to tell you what happened. I just need you to
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: tell me what happened.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I have a question. Wilcompton. Oh, no. All of that. No,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: I'm with you. I like Michigan this year.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Yeah, we're talking about the evolution of Wilcompton. Very complemented
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: with Michigan through the last couple of years.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I like Michigan a lot this year.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Where do you have them this year? Like you picking
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: as a Michigan man, like a full-blooded Michigan man. Picking
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: Ohio State to win the Big Ten Championship.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Talking about Oregon. The way you just talked about Michigan, like,
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: do you have them in your playoff? Like, where are
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: you with Michigan to where you talking like that? Why
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: aren't you sitting there sticking your neck out for them?
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: I've been hurt, man.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: You've been hurt. How? I've been hurt.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Last year, I was wildly optimistic. I took the Will
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Compton route.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: It's not about adversity, Will. It's not about my mental
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: fortitude or anything like that. I sit here and my
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: job in the locker room is to sit here and
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: evaluate all teams fair and equally. Like Michigan has a
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: top 15 roster. There's no doubt about it. But as
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: it stands, Oregon, Ohio State, USC, and Indiana in the
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Big Ten have a better roster. And I don't know
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: what's going to come from Whittingham just yet. I sit
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: back and I'm like, yeah, I'm picking Ohio State. We'll
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: wait till we get to the playoff area. People sound like, oh,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Taylor's totally taking a flip. We'll wait till we get
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: to the playoff section. I just sit there and I'm like,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: I got to be a fan of this team. I
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: got to sit back. Week two, if it goes the
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: way that I am pretty sure it's going to go,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: we're going to redo our futures in the Big Ten
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: at least. But that's where I sit.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: Where do you have them sitting right now preseason? Like
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: what's the record look like? Are they making the college
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: football playoff?
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: I think it's a 9-3 season. And I think if
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: we go 9-3, we're like, hey, Michigan, like 2027, where
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: we're at, we're talking about a national championship. The thing
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: that gives me pause is the first-year head coach. It
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: is like I'm hearing all the best stuff about Bryce,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: but it's like I'm in this position of like, Hey,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: his footwork's gotten better. His decision-making's gotten better. A lot
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: of times you hear Jordan Palmer, who we worked with
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: in the offseason, he was on the Rich Eisen show
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: talking about like, When it comes to short and intermediate throws,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: it's not necessarily about the accuracy of the ball. It's
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: where your feet are at. So you're throwing that same
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: pitch every single time. I'm hearing all the things where
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, I'm buying in to this hype. But
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: I want to just sit back and let them do
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: their thing. Because I get out there and I start
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: banging on the table, Michigan this, Michigan that. Then it's,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: you know, you put yourself in a business where it's
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: just like, you don't want to be there. You want
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: to let them Let them be a camouflage right now.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: Let them sit back, let them sneak up on some folks.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: And then week two, we'll be sitting there being like,
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: all right. I was whispering this to you guys. I
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: was letting you guys know, but I wasn't trying to
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: hold the flag just yet. Out of respect for the university.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: So you say they beat Oklahoma. They're going college football playoff.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: Buddy, we beat Oklahoma.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you cancel Christmas.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: But as of right now... It's over.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: As of right now, you have them at Oklahoma as
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: one of the three losses?
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Okay, so you got Ohio State at the top there.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: You throw records out the window when that game takes
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: place anyway. You saw it two years ago and for
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: the first half of the last year's game. So in
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: that situation, it's like, yeah, Ohio State has a better, quote, roster.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: But if Michigan's firing all cylinders, I got Michigan 10
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: out of 10 in that one. Oregon is one where
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: you have to go to Eugene. I'm like, okay, I
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: think that one you take an L in.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Right there. Indiana.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Hoover, when he had 42 interceptions and 31 starts, I
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: know Cignetti's a great coach. He's arguably the best coach
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: in college football right now based on what he's been
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: able to do. But it's like, is that going to
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: be that much better, whether you have a turnover machine? Mendoza,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: when he was coming from Cal, he was like, there's
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: nothing flashy about him. He was not a risk-taking type
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: of quarterback. So you just took that and molded it
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: into the RPO with the back shoulder throws. You have
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: to take a guy and pull the reins on him
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: a little bit. This is a little bit of a
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: different look for Cignetti. So when I look at the schedule,
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: it's like Iowa... Oklahoma, Penn State, Indiana, Ohio State. You
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: have five, six games, you're all in the top 25.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: The only one that truly gives me pause is the
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: one that the curse is over right now, which is Oregon.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Then I'm like, hey, you're going to have to come
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: with your best plus a little something extra to beat that.
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: Team in Eugene. We've been there. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: We've seen that 55,000 sounds like 105,000. That stadium, that talent, impressive.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Nine and three. borderline contender at the end of the
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: day makes you feel like next year's the year. That's
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: where you are right now before the Oklahoma game.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: As of right now, and Will did a great job
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: at the beginning of the show saying we are not
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: to be held by our picks.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Shame on everybody. Shame on everybody if they say, oh,
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: you guys are idiots. Listen, we beat Oklahoma in week two.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: I got Michigan winning the Big Ten Championship.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: In a non-conference game. But you saw enough. Brett Venable's defense. Yeah.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: We beat Oklahoma week two? We'll win the Big Ten title.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: If they put 28 on Oklahoma, and let's say they
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: lose 31-28, they'd probably win the Big Ten.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: I can't say I follow your logic at all. You
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: don't follow that logic?
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: We went lost to a tough Oklahoma team.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: And you scored a lot of points. I see where
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: you're building. Yeah, you see what I'm going with.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: I see where your brain's at.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: Yeah. I agree with you. I'm 9-3, borderline playoff team.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: So that's where I am with them before the OU game.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: And before we started camp.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: Because it could be a 9-3 versus an Oklahoma 9.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: and then you'd have the head-to-head.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: Or how about this? How about this? That means maybe
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: you're 9-2. Talk to me. Going into the last week
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: of the regular season. Oh! And that means you've beat
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: some combination of OU, Penn State, Iowa, Oregon, Indiana. You've
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: beaten some combination of those teams. Plus, Bryce Underwood is
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: fully through his second year as a starter by that point.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Savion Hyder, maybe 1,000-yard rusher. If he's not, it's because
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: he shared the workload. Yeah, why not? Three. Bryce can run.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: I'm with you, dude. Everything you're saying, I'm so juiced
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: up by all the words you just used and the
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: way you used them.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: Give him your take on the possibility. I know we're
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: big on Ohio State, and you kind of got talked
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: to in Ohio State. Let's pretend that conversation didn't happen.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: We're on the plane flying to the Hall of Fame game,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: and you said, I could see Ohio State.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: Losing three games. Explain that.
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: I think it's where everybody else has probably talked to
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: themselves a little too much about the romanticizing about college
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: football because Ohio State has just got a hell of
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: a schedule. Like I have them losing to Texas at
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Texas on September 12th. But you look at, you know,
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: going to Iowa is not going to be a walk
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: in the park. Should they win that game?
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely. But they go to Iowa, to Texas, to Indiana,
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: to USC. They host Oregon. They go to Nebraska, and
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: they finish it off with the game against Michigan. That's
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: a gauntlet of a schedule. I'm high on Ohio State.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: I think they're an incredible team. But looking at.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: All of these battles that they're going to have, especially
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: their away schedule, is like there are moments where you
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: sit there, you guys kind of talk to me, and
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: then winning the Big Ten Championship.
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: You guys talking in that moment, I'm like, fuck, they're right.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: But I know the minute I.
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: Would have went back to the books and looked at
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: their schedule, I would have talked to myself, man, they
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: could kind of lose some games here if they're not
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: on their stuff. If Coach Patricia doesn't get this revamped
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: defense going.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: I think he will because he's a stud. He's a genius.
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: But you don't know. You just believe that this is
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: a top roster in college football always because they get
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: the best recruits. They get their portal guys.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: They have it all. But I look at the schedule
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: and I'm like, man, they have a tough road schedule.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: And is Nebraska not sitting in the best position possible
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: for that schedule? Let's just say Klan.
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: Right before the game, and Nebraska's sitting there at.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: This is what I want to know. Six and two? Well,
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: it's November 21st.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: So it's the second to last game. 11 games have
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: been played. This will be the 11th game for them.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: So 10 games.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: So they're 8-2?
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: They could be sitting there 7-3, 8-2.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: If they're 8-2, then it's over for Nebraska. Well, Ohio State's.
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: Going to have to come correct because if Nebraska's 8-2,
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: it's like, hey, this is a college playoff contender.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: Yep. Because they, in theory, would be at 8-2. Ohio
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: State could lose three and make the playoffs. They're that
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: kind of team. That's that kind of schedule. Yeah. But
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: if that's the case, so is Michigan. I don't know
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: that I agree with that. It depends on what Oklahoma
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: ends up being. You could be right. Difference is Ohio
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: State's going to Texas. True.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: That's a good point, but it's still the same. Besides,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: we don't play USC. Ohio State going to USC is
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: a major wrinkle.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: It's a huge wrinkle. It's a major wrinkle, and that'll
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: be a night game? We don't know. The Big Ten
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: cannot Big Noon tonight. West Coast teams at home. That's
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: what we know. So they can't do the 9 a.m.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: local kickoff. So it's normally a 3.30 or something like that.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: It'll probably be a night game.
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: It's all very interesting. The Bay 10 and the SEC
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: are just fascinating this year.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: Exciting. You want to hear some totals? Yeah.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: I want to hear some totals.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Hey, we'll probably go like an hour. What are we
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: at right now? I like Warwick.
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: The thing is, too, how are we going to do
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: an hour show? There's no way.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: There's no way we can do an hour show.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: Oregon over 10.5. I have.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: Evan Stewart, DeCorey, and Moore on there because they're studs.
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: Penn State under 9.5. Under 9.5.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Pull a Penn State schedule because I think I don't agree.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: Well, here are the games right here. They host USC
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: at home. They're at Michigan.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: Skipped right over Wisconsin. You think that's a dial-a-dub? Time out.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: Read this piece of paper right here. This is their swings.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: They're bigger ones, right? USC at home, at Michigan. They
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: host Washington. Wisconsin's down there underneath because that's another one
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: you can't just circle as a dub. So four potential
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: losses right there. Their over-under is nine and a half.
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: They take over Wisconsin, lose the other three, and it's
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: nine and three. It's just math at that point.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: It's just math. That's all this show's ever been. It's
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: all it's ever been. It's just math.
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: Again, Ohio State, I have a question mark because I'm
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: not willing to go with the total there because I've
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: talked myself into various situations with Ohio State's schedule.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: Indiana 10-2. What's their total?
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: Question mark. Ohio State is 9.5. 9-3 doesn't do it.
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: 9-3 doesn't do it.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: Indiana 10-2, I have a question mark. So I'm not
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: willing to go over 10.5 there.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: Sure. Nebraska over six and a half.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Break down some Nebraska for me. This is officially year
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: one of Matt Rule.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: Because we switched our jerseys. That's correct. Yeah.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: The reason I'm bullish on over six and a half
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: with Nebraska this year, I think it is very easy.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: It is our world right now. It's the pattern and
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: rhythm of Nebraska every year. We win the offseason. Man,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: we're flying high. We're drinking the Kool-Aid every year. We
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: all still do.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Still do. Still do.
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: What?
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: What off season did you guys win? Like we sat
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: here and what was it? January, February, whatever like signing
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: day was. And you guys were like, Hey, what's going
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: on to Brad? They have like the 50th best signing
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: class going on.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Got Kenny Minchin coming in.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Kenny Minchin's coming in.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: But don't worry. We got Calandria from UNLV. And what
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: is that?
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: That comment right there.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: And how you said it.
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: What was that? Because he's going to be a beast.
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: But I'm looking at it as the framework of we
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: win the offseason every single year. And it's like so
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: many bad things have happened to Nebraska to where like
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: an outside viewer would look at Calandra and be like,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: that is a Constellation Prize that's taking place right there.
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: No, it's not. Constellation Prize? What just took place?
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: Is the reality of when Nebraska comes up.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: I say shit like that, laughs take place.
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: You don't know the trenches that we feel like we're
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: in all the time when we do start drinking the Kool-Aid.
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: There's a much more calm demeanor this entire offseason. Nebraska
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: fans are like, we're much lighter. You had the podcast
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: last year, you had Rule and all this stuff last offseason.
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: We went to a bowl game for the first time in, what,
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: 10 years? We went to a bowl game for the
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: last couple years, but still, it's like, I think where
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: we are now as a society of Nebraska football is
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: is having a little bit more, all right, let's wait
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: and see what happens.
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: The rhythm and pattern that I just expressed.
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: And you guys just reacted to with all the laughter
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: is where the Nebraska Huskers are.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Publicly, nationally, globally. But if you take... I'm trying not
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: to crack. I know you're rolling. You gotta stop. I
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: know you're rolling. I'm not trying to do anything. I'm
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: being dead ass serious. Because now I want to take
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: you into the vacuum. Sit down. I want to take
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: you into the vacuum. Yep. of why I got us
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: over six and a half. I have us going eight
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: and four. Quiet all offseason, man. Well, they were winning.
- 1:35:59Speaker 3: This is still quiet Willie talking. You don't have me
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: 12 and 0. You don't have me 10 and 2.
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: You don't have me talking about college football playoffs like
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: I have essentially every year. Going into last year, there
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: was a little doubt flickering in my head. And I
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: think I told it to you at the Cincinnati game.
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: The one thing I was worried about with who we
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: had on staff was a DB coach from the NFL
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: being our defensive coordinator and Coach Butler. Because you got
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: to be able to stop the run. The way we
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: got gashed all year in the run game, clearly not good.
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: But bringing in Orridge from San Diego State, him being
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: a linebacker guy himself, what he did at San Diego State,
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: having Owen Chambers, he's on the watch list, he's going
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: to be a stud this year. but a man focusing
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: on the run game, being in all of the position groups,
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: not somebody at DC who sits back and kind of observes,
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: lets assistants do what they want to do.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: He's in drills with everybody. This is the intel. This
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: is the Josh Bate intel on the Josh Bate College
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: Football Show. You haven't said it, but you should.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: Having Orich as a run-focused defense, there's going to be
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: a shift because there's three things when I want to
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: keep you in this vacuum. Run defense, offensive line play,
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: and limited QB play, what we had last year. Okay?
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: I don't think people understand, Nebraska folks do, the drama
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: and the distraction that took place with the Rayola family.
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: Not from just Dylan, Dylan's dad, Coach Rayola, who's the
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: O-line coach, who there wasn't a relationship, like those two
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: parties didn't really talk. The very bad, abysmal O-line play
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: that we had last year, bringing in Jeep Wade from
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: Georgia Tech, to help with our issues. Again, you've seen
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: Rule talk about biggest, meanest, leanest that we've had since
- 1:37:47Speaker 3: he's been here. He's not saying we're going to win
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: the whole thing, but he's like he feels insanely good
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: about the roster and where guys' focuses are. But fixing
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: the O-line play, protecting Alex Anthony Calandria, Calandri is going
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: to be a stud. He brings an aspect that we
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: haven't had in Nebraska since, what, maybe Taylor Martinez days
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: with being able to run around. He's got a gunslinger
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: of an arm, and he's just got the sauce and
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: the juice that you already can tell guys are going
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: to feed off of. I've already heard that people feed
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: off of it. And Orridge focusing defensively and fixing the
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: run game because we were terrible at that last year.
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: Too many explosive runs on us. Michigan, we were at
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: that game. You popped I don't know how many innings.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: explosive run plays. So where I'm in my head, you
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: eliminate these explosive runs like for the love of God.
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: If we could just touch the guy in the hole.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: We're talking about gap assignment football. Run defense, O-line play,
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: and limited quarterback play. Having those issues, feeling like this
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: is what we are focused on going into this year,
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: this is why I am bullish on On Nebraska, over
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: six and a half, and we're talking win total because
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: there's five games.
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: Indiana at home. We go out to Oregon. Yeah.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: Washington at home. Ohio State at home. On the road
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: at Iowa. Five games right there. We're going to have
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: to clip two of them to go 9-3.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: Before the show ends... and you're driving your car and like, wow,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: those guys really laughed at me. I want you to
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: know the only things I laughed at were winning the
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: off season. And when you use the word globally, okay.
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: Everything you just said about Nebraska and identifying the issues
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: and the limited quarterback play and the run defense, very clear,
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: very addressed. It seems like even in the portal with
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: all the Minchie issues taking place, I love your approach
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: to Nebraska football this off season.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: Josh, you have a four?
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: I do also want to say when I am driving home,
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: I'm just going to know like this is the reality.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: But if people want to talk to me one-on-one about
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: how I feel about Nebraska football, because it's the first thing,
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: it's like I pulled clump one day.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: I was like, just walk with me. Rhythm and pattern
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: of Nebraska football.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: I get it. We're all going to sit there and
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: chuckle and laugh.
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: I get it.
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: But if you zoom in on like, hey, what were,
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: if you had three issues last year, Did we handle
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: him in the offseason? In my opinion, yes, with Ulrich,
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: Jeep Wade, and Anthony Calandria. That is where I want
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: us to place focus because you improved massively in those areas.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: We are scrappy. We are scrappy this year in the
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: Big Ten. Who's your running back? It seems like it
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: could be this freshman.
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: Okay. Jamal.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: Good to stop there.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Jamal. All right. We'll go with Jamal. Go to Jamal.
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: Jamal Rule, yes. Jamal Rule. Nice.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: Calandria, I love. I love the locker room vibes. This
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: is going to have everybody rally around him.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: Isaiah Hunter, Ja'Cory Barney, Luke coming back at tight end.
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: What are your thoughts on Nebraska this year? I would
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: like to nail you down on one thing for my
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: own record keeping. You said eight and four, but then
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: you said nine and three. Yes, Josh.
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: In an approach of keeping my expectations at bay. And
- 1:41:21Speaker 3: I'm smiling because I'm also like, oh, I'm also saying
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: they're going to go 8-4.
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: So again, I understand.
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: As we get rolling and we start 5-0 and we're
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: hosting Indiana for an opportunity to take down the first
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: ranked team since 2016, we will be present. for our
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: tailgate tour. Maybe, who knows, week six, huge slate. Our
- 1:41:42Speaker 3: ESPN show could be anywhere. Would obviously love for it
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: to be there to witness what could potentially take.
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: Place and happen.
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: And by that time, when the ball is kicked off,
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: I will be at a spot where I'm thinking.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: We could really get in the playoff this year. Just
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: so I'm understanding you. you are on record with two
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: different predictions for Nebraska and reserving the right to adjust
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: to one or the other mid-season. I guess I do
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: that same thing, but I want to do that with
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: all my picks. Yes.
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: I don't want to put any bulletin board material out there.
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: Globally. Globally. But internally.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: Listen, internally, I will get there. We start off 5-0.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: You talk to me then. You know, I'll still probably
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: remain indifferent.
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: If you get the 6-0.
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: Going out to Oregon?
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: You don't think I'm going to get Lanning's head?
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: I think there'll be a massive ban on the Will Compton.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: Any Will Compton, any part of their facility.
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: Keep me out of there, Dan.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Nebraska beats Indiana week five.
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: Six.
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: Does Bussin with Pate on campus?
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: Go to Eugene, Oregon. Bussin and Pate.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Bussing in Pitt.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: Is it Bussing in Pitt? Can I just be real
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: with both of you? The past seven minutes have been
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: some of the most messed up in my life. Why?
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: But it really makes me glad that we're back.
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: We're so back.
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Really makes me glad we're back.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: You haven't given an opinion on his comments of Nebraska.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: I wasn't going to cut in on that. No, no, no.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: I'm saying like now that that's over.
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: Where are you with this guy?
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: But don't look at him when you talk.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: I never would. I can't do that to him. Yeah.
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: Because last year there was a lot of this. And
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: it ended up with both of us predicting 10-2. There
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: was trenches. It ended up with us physically laid out
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: on the field in Lincoln, Nebraska as the stands cleared out. Granted,
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: I went to the Michigan locker room with you to celebrate,
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: but then I came back out on the field to
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: suffer with you.
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: You were laying like Rose from Titanic on the 46-yard line.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: So how do you feel?
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Are we just going to leave that alone? That's enough
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: Nebraska talk.
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: I do want to know where you're at. I want
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: to know. Give me a couple sentences on what maybe
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: your thoughts were pre that Nebraska talk and.
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: When I brought you into a vacuum where they were after.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: I was at seven and five before and I'm at
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: seven and five afterwards. Having said that, we now live
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: in a world where I could make multiple predictions because
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: that's apparently something that happens now. Because shame on me
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: if I hold you to that.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: Correct. Because part of me was ready to cut the cord.
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: So I'm predicting seven and five and eight and four.
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: 7-5 and 8-4. We're going to meet on 8-4. My
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: internal prediction is your global prediction. 8-4. Okay.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: We feel good.
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: I haven't even talked about Lincoln Riley. Join my AVA.
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: Time out.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: Top class in 26. How they're going to sneak up
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: on teams this year.
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: Could probably be a playoff team. But yeah, we can
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: move on. We would be moving on to the playoffs anyway.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: We'll see really quickly if they're a playoff team. Let's
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: go Final Four. Who's making the semis?
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: God, it's so hard to break down with just getting
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: right to four.
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: It's not. Notre Dame. Okay.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: Hey, Cody, can you bring up Josh Pate's college football
- 1:45:15Speaker 3: playoff prediction? Because I have a massive question for you.
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: And I think I know what the question is. I'm
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: pulling it up for myself.
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: What's going to be up here in a second?
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: As you know, I did multiple predictions. Which we live
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: in that world now. But this is 2.0. Okay. Yeah.
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: Will there be a 3.0? I'd have to do it
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: next week. All right. Yeah. And I'm a guy with integrity,
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: so I'm probably not going to do that. Maybe Thursday.
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: Notre Dame versus Miami in one semifinal. Texas versus Oregon
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: in the other semifinal. That's that spot where I've got
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: two teams there. Neither of whom's won their conference. Both
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: of whom's go further in the playoff than the teams
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: that won their conferences. I have got four coaches in
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: the final four who have a combined zero national championships.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: I kind of love that, dude. And imagine if Miami
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: and Oregon actually happened. Mario Cristobal behind closed doors. Man.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: That would be insane. Where's my little sheet? Who do
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: you have in the final four?
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: I've got LSU, SEC champs, and going blazing in the playoffs.
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: I got Miami, I got Oregon, and I got Notre Dame.
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: Who are your matchups there?
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: My matchups are going to be Miami, LSU, and Oregon,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: Notre Dame.
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: Mine are Notre Dame, Texas, and Oregon, Georgia.
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: Say it again. Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon, Georgia. We all
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: four have Notre Dame there, right? Yes. Did you have Texas?
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: You don't have Texas, right?
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: I have LSU instead. I took Notre Dame and won
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: it all. Did you really?
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: Now, to be fair to Will, their schedule is nice.
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: They're quarterbacked. I think he's the number one on the
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: odds in FanDuel right now.
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: He is.
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: C.J.
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: Carr is going to be a stud this year.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: He's going to be a monster this year. Their offensive
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: line is going to be really good. They're probably the
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: best secondary in college football.
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: Notre Dame has the best defense in college football. Okay. Onward.
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: Go ahead, Will.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: You have four.
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: I think when you look at what they have returning,
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: Leonard Moore, I mean, this is a potential top five
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: pick in the NFL draft. You have Tate Johnson and
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: Adon Shuler, Adon, he's the one who gave us a
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: tour at Notre Dame. They are studs at safety. You
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: have Boubacar at end. Both ends return, Bryce Young and Boubacar.
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: Bryce Young, former five-star. They landed top two defensive tackles
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: in the transfer portal, in the transfer cycle. This linebacker
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: room is insane. With Drake Bowen, Jalen Sneed, and Kingston.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: Bilyamu Asa. Kingston. You remember him. You remember us watching
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: tape on that kid. Coming off of an ACL.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: This is a day one, day two potential type cat.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: Both of them on the Butkus Award watch list. This
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: defense is stout top to bottom. I am ready to
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: see what they got going on on the perimeter offensively,
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: but CJ Carr, that line of scrimmage that they have
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: coming back, guys they landed in the portal, I am
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: high on Notre Dame this year. I'm high on Notre
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: Dame this year. Matter of fact, I was reading scripture
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: last night, and this one comes from Freeman1526. Do not
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: take revenge, my friends, but leave room for Notre Dame's wrath.
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: For it is written, it is mine to avenge, I
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: will repay, says Marcus Freeman.
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: And you know what he's avenging. What's he avenging? What
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: happened last year in the college football playoff. They got
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: left out of the college football playoff.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: Rightfully so.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: Squeezed out.
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: Squeezed out. Semantics. Yeah. Either way.
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: They got that part right, but I understand what you're saying.
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: They ramp up at the right time, too, with Miami,
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: BYU later in the year.
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: And this team is just going to be blood in
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: the water when they finally get in the college football playoff.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: They're going 12-0 in the regular season. And you're 1.0.
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: You had Notre Dame, correct?
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: I did have Notre Dame.
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: What ended up, was it a mean text from Cristobal
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: that ended up getting Miami?
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: It was not that. My opinion on Notre Dame didn't
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: change at all. In fact, I probably, if anything, feel
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: slightly better. about Notre Dame than I did when I
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: picked them to win it. What changed is I feel
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: much more at ease believing in Miami defensively now that
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: I've heard some stuff from fall camp than maybe I
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: did where I didn't doubt them. I just had question marks.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: So I've got that. I think they're going to be
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: a 40 plus point per game offense. And I think
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: it'll scale in the playoffs because I think they can
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: run the ball effectively. I think they upgraded at quarterback,
- 1:50:08Speaker 2: especially when you consider what Shannon Dawson wants to do offensively.
- 1:50:11Speaker 2: So Darian Mensah, I think he's going to have a
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: phenomenal year. More on that in a second. I also
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: think their offensive line, the product it is week one,
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: will be good. The product it will end up being
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: will remind a lot of people, ironically, of what Notre
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: Dame did two years ago. Now, Notre Dame kept getting
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: hurt on the O-line, and they just kept reloading, reloading, reloading.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: And it was a strength of the team, whereas people
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: thought it was going to be a weakness coming into
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: the year. And then they go into Kyle Field, and
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: they beat Texas A & M. on the back of
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: an offensive line. And you found out, wow, the recipe
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: they had there on O-line, it just continues. Even though
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: the names change, it just keeps being good to great.
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: So I think Miami will be that on the O-line
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: in time. There's nothing that I really doubt about them.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: And I think they have a phenomenal wide receiver group.
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: Quarterback's a check. Running back's a check. O-line will be
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: a check. I think Lofton at tight end will be
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: a really good player. I think the secondary will be
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: incredibly upgraded from a ball skill perspective this year as
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: opposed to last year. You get Corey Heatherman in his
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: second year as defensive coordinator. They tasted it. They got
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: really close. They were within reach. They touched the belt
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: briefly last year and then fell to the canvas, and
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: they had to watch Kurt Cignetti grab that thing. And
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: I think it fuels them to go on a run
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: this year, and I think Miami will win the national title.
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: You said something a minute ago, too. O-line will be
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: a check. If there's a question or a doubt that
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: I have, it's understanding the O-line is very inexperienced.
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: They're young.
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: And then the question you have to ask yourself is,
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: do you believe in crystal ball or mirror ball?
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: Which my answer is yes, but that is what I
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: want to see as this year unfolds.
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: The only hesitation, because I have them coming in the
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: four seed, winning the ACC and being the four seed.
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: Indiana is still the only team who's had the bye
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: and won off the bye.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: So that's my hesitation with all of these top seeds
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: that are going to have a bye.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because that was a big subject of conversation in
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: the playoffs last year. Every team that's gotten a bye
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: tends to lay an egg. I feel like that, by
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: any end of doing that, it's like the first person
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: running the four-minute mile.
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: Roger Bannister.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Once that happens, it's like, all right, now a bunch
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: of people are going to start to understand that process,
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: know how to get their guys juiced up. It still
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: goes back to the schedule and how shitty it is
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: for college football right now. I have the same national
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: championship game as you. And all the reasons you said
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Miami is the reason why I'm taking Oregon. This to
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: me is a now or never moment for Dan Lanning.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: He had, everyone wants to talk about Dante Moore who
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: could have left for the NFL and been a top
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: three pick in the NFL this year and decided to
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: stay to college one more year. It's not just him
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: that did that. It's also seven other guys. They probably
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: have the best defensive line in all of college football.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: They have a running back room, a stable of running backs.
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: All the things we talked about with Stewart and DeCorey
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: and Moore, the tight end, I'm forgetting his name right now.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: Shamari Johnson. Shamari Johnson.
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: He's another one similar to Sadiq last year. He's just
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: going to set the world on fire. I love Oregon
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: winning this. I think also the way I have their
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: season going, dropping once to Ohio State and then a
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: second time to Ohio State, is very similar to the
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: way Ohio State went and won a national championship two
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: years ago. where eventually they sit there, they burn the boats,
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: they realize enough is enough, we got in the playoffs,
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: it's time to set the world on fire, and they
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: go and do that. And they just, they're a team
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: that's like, there's nobody beating them right now. And unfortunately,
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: Miami has to be the last stop for them in that.
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: Part of me that feels like another team coach in
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: the conversation of now or never, it feels like Sark too.
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: I feel like you've got three teams this year that
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: are really truly built to win it all in 2026.
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: And then worry about 2027 later. That's Oregon, that's Texas,
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: and that's Notre Dame.
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: But Texas, I mean, Arch Manning could come. It doesn't
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: go the other way. Arch Manning could come back.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: He could, but that team is so clearly built with
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: the express intent to win. It's like Ohio State two
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: years ago. And they did it, crazily, but they did it. Now,
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: it turns out they were still really good the next year,
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: and these teams will probably still be really good, but
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: it's the latter. It's all about what rung on the
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: ladder do you climb to. Those three, presumably, are as
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: high on the ladder as you can go. Now, they'll
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: still be three or two steps from the top every year,
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: but it'll never be more within reach for them than
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: it will be this year.
- 1:54:34Speaker 3: Agreed. And if Arch Manning has any type of year
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: that We assume will happen.
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: Like this dude will be.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: I think Arch Manning is sitting in the perfect position.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Last year, every conversation was revolved around him and the Heisman.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: And after that first game, it just got weirder and
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: weirder from a media perspective. And now he's like as
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: much under the radar as a Manning can be in
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: college football and just ready to set it all.
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: Yeah. And that's me saying they don't have them in
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: the SEC championship.
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: When you were like, Arch Manning, he could come back
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: next year. I'm like, dude, if he plays even close
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: to what we're assuming is going to happen.
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: But Dante Moore could have been a top five pick
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: as well. Like you never, you just never know. And
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: you know the Mannings, they're royalty. They might be like,
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: you should stay an extra year.
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: You need to.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: Quick break from the episode. You see your boy on
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: the bus, but I am here to shout out Jack Daniels.
- 1:55:21Speaker 3: Shout out Jack Daniels.
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: No free shout outs.
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: You heard of Jack Daniels, but did you know They
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: have multiple flavors of Tennessee whiskey. Jack Honey. Jack by name,
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: honey by nature. Bold like Jack, smooth like honey. Authentically
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: Jack and naturally smooth. A little bit of honey, a
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: whole lot of Jack. Jack Apple.
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: Pick boldly. Real crisp apples.
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: Real Jack Daniels.
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: Jack to the core.
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: How about Jack Blackberry? The only Blackberry bursting with Jack.
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: Just wanted to jump on and say that real quick.
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: Let's get back to the episode of The Locker Room.
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: Josh. A lot of hype on Arch Manning. CJ Carr's
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: the Heisman favorite. Neither of them are my pick because
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: right in line with my national champ, I think Darian
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: Mensah wins the Heisman this year. I have four. All right.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: Taylor, you go. I'll go.
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: I got Sam Levitt.
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: I got to talk to an ex-high school coach of my,
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: high school classmate of mine who happens to reside in Arizona, Tempe,
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: to be more specific. And I asked him, I was like, hey,
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: what do you think of Sam Leavitt, now that he's
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: left the school you love the most. And his response
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: to me was within a minute, and he said, that
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: kid is one of the most unbelievable football players you've
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: ever seen in my life. His only issue is injuries.
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: At LSU, they're going to have an incredible run game.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: Len Kiffin's proven that over and over again. We've already
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: talked about all the guys they have on the perimeter,
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: how much they've brought into the offensive line. I brought
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: up how Sam Leavitt was running for his life the
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: entire season and was still extremely successful until he got
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: the Liz Frank injury. The brand, the amount of points
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: they're about to be able to put up, and Sam
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: Levitt's ability to run the ball and also throw the
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: ball wherever he wants in the field. If they win
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: the SEC championship, like I've said, they're going to, he's
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: going to win the Heisman.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: It's a great pick too because you get great value
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: right now.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: Great value. Plus 2,500? Yeah. Like the four that I've sprinkled.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: Can you give me one first for the show?
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: I don't know if I can. I have no idea
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: what's happening. You've got two predictions record-wise. You've got four
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: Heisman picks. I have no idea what we're doing.
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: He has his own section of the show where he
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: just does.
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: Totals as well. I know you guys have picked all
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: your teams. Dante Moore. Dante Moore. Great pick. Dante Moore.
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Great pick.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: But for the gamers out there, I sprinkled. I got
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: a unit on Arch Manning. I got a unit on
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: Dante Moore. Darian Mitz, I have a unit on. And
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: Sam Levin. And Kansas Under. You got a unit on
- 1:57:54Speaker 3: Kansas Under. I haven't put that in yet, and I'm
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: going to before the show airs. Because once they hear
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: where I'm at, they're.
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: Going to move.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're putting five units on Kansas Under.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: I'm putting, yeah, I might hammer the table on that one.
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: Hammer the table. You'll know next week, but that's where
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: I'm at on the Heisman.
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: Great value. on Leavitt, I believe.
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: This show is a perfect representation of how excited everybody
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: is for college football because we had a schedule, right?
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: We're going to talk about conference champions, playoffs, national champion.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: Be out of here by noon. Be out of here
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: by noon. Yeah.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: And we've sat here for two hours and just talked about–
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: quite possibly every single football team that has even this
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: much of a chance, and especially the one that doesn't, Kansas.
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: And Will has come with us with all the totals
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: to the point where it's like, that's why college football
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: is the best.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: That's it. There's so much good stuff to talk about
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: And all I'm thinking about right now is, do I
- 1:58:45Speaker 3: really think Miami's going to lose first game of the
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: Coswell playoff?
- 1:58:50Speaker 2: You got to live with that. You got to take
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: that home with you. Time out. Shame on you if
- 1:58:54Speaker 2: you're ready to pick. None of us have to live
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: with anything. Right. Because everybody on this show will go 100%
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: this year unless kids, coaches, or officials screw up. And
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: let us down.
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: So anything that happens from here on out is no
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: longer our fault.
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: Pretty much. Agreed.
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: I won't be surprised if any of these scenarios happen.
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: What about this scenario? What if Indiana does it again
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: and they win it all? Shame on us.
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: No, no, no. We don't have any shame. Where my
- 1:59:31Speaker 2: brain is at, it would be shame on me. Shame
- 1:59:33Speaker 2: on me. How did you not see it right in
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: front of you? Yeah. It was right there. Are we
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: having the conversation of possible like goat category? Because their
- 1:59:42Speaker 2: trenches are coming back. Right? Oh, yeah. It feels a
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: little uncomfortable to say because everyone's like Nick Saban. No.
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: But if you're signetting and you do it two times
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: in a row at Indiana.
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: In this economy?
- 1:59:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: In this economy. Inflation will?
- 1:59:54Speaker 3: No.
- 1:59:55Speaker 2: At the very least, greatest story. You could already call
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: it greatest story of all time. 16 of those greatest stories.
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: That's a movie. It's already a movie. Yeah, true. Could
- 2:00:02Speaker 2: I tell you where my head's at? Go ahead. You
- 2:00:04Speaker 2: said where your head's at. I assume you will say
- 2:00:06Speaker 2: where your head's at. I'll think about it. Where my
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: head's at is... I've already written it down here. That's
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: a disaster scenario. Okay? Follow me here. Think about the playoff.
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: Are you going disaster scenarios right now? I'm just going
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: to throw one out there.
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: Are you talking ACC and Big 12 are going to
- 2:00:22Speaker 3: just ram us in the ass?
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: If I could.
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: Is that what you're about to do? Word for word,
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: that's what was written there. No, we were throwing around
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: some of this stuff last night when we were trying
- 2:00:32Speaker 2: to finalize my playoff bracket. And so, I am a
- 2:00:37Speaker 2: person who believes there's going to be a whole lot
- 2:00:39Speaker 2: of three-loss SEC teams, and there's going to be a
- 2:00:42Speaker 2: handful of Big Ten teams, and there's just this pool,
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: and we don't have enough room for them in the playoff.
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: But that would be under normal circumstances. So, I was
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: throwing some stuff around last night. SEC champ, Big Ten champ,
- 2:00:54Speaker 2: they're in. That's two spots. Notre Dame's in. G6 team
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: has to be in. So that's four spots so far.
- 2:01:03Speaker 2: If Miami were to, let's say, go, but they get
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: upset in the ACC title game. Miami's still in, and
- 2:01:10Speaker 2: your ACC champ's in. Yeah, which would be a little
- 2:01:13Speaker 2: less of you. That's six teams already. Clemson, whatever. In
- 2:01:16Speaker 2: the Big 12. If Texas Tech just runs the table,
- 2:01:19Speaker 2: but they get upset at 12-0 in the Big 12
- 2:01:22Speaker 2: championship game, they're still in the playoff. So is Brigham
- 2:01:24Speaker 2: Young if they beat them. That's eight teams. Here's the kicker.
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: If Penn State takes advantage of that schedule and they're 11-1,
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: much less 12-0, but let's say 11-1, they sneak into
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: the Big Ten title game and they lose. But championship weekend,
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: they're ranked like sixth or seventh in the country. I
- 2:01:45Speaker 2: don't know that the committee is dropping them out. So
- 2:01:47Speaker 2: Penn State's in the playoff. So I got nine fingers up,
- 2:01:50Speaker 2: already accounted for, and we got three spots left for
- 2:01:54Speaker 2: Fill in the blank. LSU, Texas, Texas A & M, Alabama,
- 2:01:59Speaker 2: Ole Miss, Indiana, whoever is left outside that bubble. Michigan. Michigan, Nebraska,
- 2:02:06Speaker 2: et cetera. Et cetera. Yeah. That's your chaos scenario. I know.
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: I started flirting with that idea too because you just
- 2:02:14Speaker 3: romanticize about the chaos.
- 2:02:16Speaker 2: Yeah. People say nothing like last year could ever happen again.
- 2:02:22Speaker 3: Because we're in all these spots too per conference, like SEC,
- 2:02:24Speaker 3: Big Ten. We're talking about what three lost teams are
- 2:02:27Speaker 3: going to get in the playoff. That does not happen.
- 2:02:31Speaker 3: That does not happen as we sit here and pat
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: Miami and Texas Tech on the back and then they
- 2:02:37Speaker 3: shit in our hand come conference championship weekend.
- 2:02:39Speaker 2: You're absolutely right. God. And it could happen.
- 2:02:44Speaker 3: Who you got coming out of the G6?
- 2:02:46Speaker 2: Boise. Got UNLV. I don't care. Good UNLV because it's
- 2:02:51Speaker 2: so honest.
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: You literally insert a name that's not even a real school.
- 2:02:56Speaker 2: It could be Bishop Gorman. What is that school? Sycamore. Sycamore.
- 2:03:00Speaker 2: Bishop Sycamore. Put them in.
- 2:03:02Speaker 3: I don't give two shits. Well, somebody, one of them,
- 2:03:04Speaker 3: they're going to take up a slot that you're going
- 2:03:05Speaker 3: to be mad about anyway.
- 2:03:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:03:07Speaker 1: Like whoever, if Boise UNLV. Hey, former Michigan.
- 2:03:11Speaker 3: You're going to go play Oregon?
- 2:03:13Speaker 2: Former Michigan man, Orgy. It's not starting. Jackson Arnold. They're
- 2:03:17Speaker 2: both at UNLV. Yeah, they named Jackson Arnold the starter.
- 2:03:20Speaker 2: Probably going to run two games.
- 2:03:21Speaker 3: Dan Mullen, the head coach. Just take those names and
- 2:03:23Speaker 3: be like, okay, UNLV.
- 2:03:24Speaker 2: And I can't wait. I hope it is because I
- 2:03:26Speaker 2: like Dan Mullen. I can't wait for him to get
- 2:03:27Speaker 2: a real job. Probably in Tallahassee. Probably. Probably in Tallahassee.
- 2:03:33Speaker 2: Probably in Tallahassee, which is sad. Yeah, I see what
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: you mean. It is like a who cares deal.
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: It really is. I love that you guys have a
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: name for it. I sit there and it's like, I
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: don't know.
- 2:03:41Speaker 3: We got a college football show. We got to have
- 2:03:43Speaker 3: a little bit of respect.
- 2:03:44Speaker 2: This is the last time that we're clean all year.
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: What do you mean? This is the last time nothing
- 2:03:52Speaker 2: can have gone wrong all year with predictions. This is
- 2:03:56Speaker 2: the last time we walk in injury-free, no scars on
- 2:04:00Speaker 2: your face. No explanations to be had. No quotes and
- 2:04:05Speaker 2: clips taken out of context and thrown about the internet.
- 2:04:08Speaker 2: This is it. So you need to sit back in
- 2:04:09Speaker 2: your chair, strike however much posture you want to, and
- 2:04:12Speaker 2: just breathe for a second. It'll never feel as good
- 2:04:16Speaker 2: as it feels right now. Thank God Josh is here
- 2:04:22Speaker 2: to kind of pull in.
- 2:04:22Speaker 3: You know what we haven't done with Josh yet?
- 2:04:24Speaker 2: What? That he got to do with us.
- 2:04:26Speaker 3: What's that? Nebraska, Michigan. He's got Alabama in the playoff.
- 2:04:32Speaker 3: And I'm sitting there like, what?
- 2:04:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, that's my win total. Over eight and a
- 2:04:36Speaker 2: half for them.
- 2:04:38Speaker 3: What do you have, Matt? I assume, what, ten and two?
- 2:04:40Speaker 2: Yeah, ten and two.
- 2:04:41Speaker 3: That's crazy talk.
- 2:04:42Speaker 2: Pull the schedule up. Okay, not crazy talk. I won't
- 2:04:44Speaker 2: go that far. I mean, you were on record as
- 2:04:47Speaker 2: making multiple record predictions for Nebraska. So, by all means,
- 2:04:51Speaker 2: tell me what's crazy about this. You're right.
- 2:04:53Speaker 3: That is my fault. That is my fault. I take
- 2:04:56Speaker 3: that back.
- 2:04:56Speaker 2: Their record last year was.
- 2:04:59Speaker 2: 10-2 regular season, right? Yeah. They went to Atlanta. They
- 2:05:02Speaker 2: got housed in Atlanta. They got South Carolina in September.
- 2:05:03Speaker 2: They rightfully still made the playoff. I just think it's
- 2:05:06Speaker 2: a better team than last year, and I think I
- 2:05:08Speaker 2: love Keelan Russell. I love his upside.
- 2:05:10Speaker 3: I love Keelan Russell too, but they're going to have
- 2:05:11Speaker 3: to be able to run the football, which they will
- 2:05:13Speaker 3: not be able to do.
- 2:05:15Speaker 2: Well, I think they will be able to. Hey, if
- 2:05:16Speaker 2: we're going to assume it about LSU and Oklahoma, I'm
- 2:05:19Speaker 2: going to assume it at least a little bit improves
- 2:05:21Speaker 2: with Alabama. Why? Because they all sucked last year.
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're into the Ryan Grubb situation?
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: I was going to tie that in, but I'm thinking
- 2:05:31Speaker 3: the reason it's different in my mind from even throw
- 2:05:33Speaker 3: Texas in that mix.
- 2:05:34Speaker 2: So like Texas, Oklahoma.
- 2:05:37Speaker 3: Texas and Oklahoma both had, you know, a meat of
- 2:05:41Speaker 3: their offensive line was underclassmen. Like three freshmen were starting
- 2:05:44Speaker 3: for Oklahoma. Like they're going to improve and get better,
- 2:05:47Speaker 3: and it's going to be we got to run the ball,
- 2:05:48Speaker 3: we got to run the ball, we got to run
- 2:05:49Speaker 3: the ball, we got to run the ball.
- 2:05:51Speaker 2: Alabama, you would assume as poorly as they.
- 2:05:54Speaker 3: Ran the football that they were going to have a
- 2:05:55Speaker 3: lot of young cats in there and inexperienced at it.
- 2:05:57Speaker 3: They lost basically everybody on their line of scrimmage. They
- 2:05:59Speaker 3: only have one returning starter. And Ryan Grubb, the OC,
- 2:06:02Speaker 3: they're not going to be able to run the football
- 2:06:04Speaker 3: because it's part of the design of Ryan Grubb. When
- 2:06:07Speaker 3: he was at Washington with DeBoer in 2022, they were
- 2:06:09Speaker 3: 118th in the country. at rushing attempts per game. In 2023,
- 2:06:17Speaker 3: they were 125th at rushing attempts per game. When he
- 2:06:20Speaker 3: goes to Seattle as the OC, he had Kenneth Walker
- 2:06:24Speaker 3: and what's the other running back's name? Either way, they
- 2:06:27Speaker 3: were 28th in the league at rushing yards per game.
- 2:06:30Speaker 3: Just by design. Ryan Grubb is a lean pass guy first.
- 2:06:34Speaker 3: And him coming to Bama, what they put on tape
- 2:06:36Speaker 3: last year, all of a sudden he's just going to
- 2:06:39Speaker 3: wake up and think, we've got to run the football.
- 2:06:40Speaker 2: He's not even built to want to run the football.
- 2:06:43Speaker 2: He just runs.
- 2:06:44Speaker 3: Football by default to keep defenses guessing.
- 2:06:48Speaker 2: Yeah, just to keep them honest.
- 2:06:50Speaker 3: He's not like a run first the way Oklahoma, Texas,
- 2:06:53Speaker 3: Georgia are going to be mentally.
- 2:06:56Speaker 1: I want to point something really quick out for you.
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: I know you hear Kenneth Walker and you think Michigan State.
- 2:07:00Speaker 2: Mm-mm.
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker just won the Super Bowl MVP. So just
- 2:07:05Speaker 1: so you know, he's really good in the NFL.
- 2:07:07Speaker 2: I tuned in. Oh, you did? Yeah, sure did. Just
- 2:07:09Speaker 2: making sure, because I know it's kind of a one-way street.
- 2:07:11Speaker 2: He even said there's a splattering. Oh, yeah, he did
- 2:07:15Speaker 2: say splattering. Loved the way the run game looked. Loved
- 2:07:18Speaker 2: the two true freshmen. What Savion Hyder figures to contribute
- 2:07:23Speaker 2: up there at Michigan is what I would expect impact-wise
- 2:07:27Speaker 2: from EJ Crowell at Alabama. So I like that. But
- 2:07:30Speaker 2: more so than that, I love the RPO element that
- 2:07:32Speaker 2: Keelan Russell gives them that Ty didn't give them. That's
- 2:07:35Speaker 2: what I love. And I love quantum improvement in their
- 2:07:38Speaker 2: defensive front too. I'm actually more concerned about getting boxes
- 2:07:43Speaker 2: checked over there on defense than I am offensively, which
- 2:07:46Speaker 2: you'll just kind of have to wait and see on that,
- 2:07:48Speaker 2: but they'll be fine there. Defensively, if they are what
- 2:07:51Speaker 2: I think they can be up front in terms of
- 2:07:53Speaker 2: run stoppage, they got one of the best secondaries in
- 2:07:55Speaker 2: the country. Uh, so I actually, I went down there
- 2:07:59Speaker 2: last week and watched them scrimmage with eight and four ceiling,
- 2:08:02Speaker 2: nine and three in my head. And they're just way
- 2:08:04Speaker 2: better than I thought they are. I thought they would be.
- 2:08:07Speaker 2: They looked way better than I thought they'd look. So
- 2:08:08Speaker 2: that's what made me buy into Alabama. The Bama glasses. No,
- 2:08:13Speaker 2: they're off.
- 2:08:15Speaker 3: Eight and four, nine and three ceiling. You go to Bama.
- 2:08:17Speaker 3: They hand you a gift basket, you put on the tee, you.
- 2:08:19Speaker 2: Watch- No rewards were taken. You love what you see.
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: We walked into Texas Tech, Soresby was our Heisman Trophy winner.
- 2:08:25Speaker 2: We walked into Notre Dame.
- 2:08:27Speaker 3: CJ Carr became it. Literally, we understand getting butted up.
- 2:08:31Speaker 3: The only reason I'm off of Carr a little bit
- 2:08:34Speaker 3: more than Heisman- Yeah, yeah, why is that? I'm a
- 2:08:36Speaker 3: huge fan of CJ Carr. The guys that I'm choosing,
- 2:08:39Speaker 3: I just think, have so many more opportunities to win
- 2:08:42Speaker 3: the Heisman throughout the season than CJ Carr will. Because if,
- 2:08:46Speaker 3: I mean, maybe even in an element of Mensa, because
- 2:08:49Speaker 3: their schedule is similar to Notre Dame's. Like, they don't
- 2:08:51Speaker 3: really play anybody. They could be beating the hell out
- 2:08:55Speaker 3: of everybody and they're not throwing the ball. Like, Sam Levitt,
- 2:08:59Speaker 3: Arch Manning. Who's the other one that I had? Dante Moore.
- 2:09:03Speaker 3: Dante Moore. They're going to be in so many situations
- 2:09:05Speaker 3: to have these Heisman moments because of how many teams.
- 2:09:08Speaker 3: Big teams they have on the schedule. That's why.
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: The thing about moments is you only need one. And
- 2:09:14Speaker 1: Miami and Notre Dame play week eight, and that could
- 2:09:16Speaker 1: come then.
- 2:09:16Speaker 2: That's it. Yeah. It's a good point.
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: So I took CJ Carr off my board because it's like,
- 2:09:21Speaker 1: how many times do you see the favorite going into
- 2:09:23Speaker 1: the season actually win it?
- 2:09:24Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what? I'm going to find somebody else. Yeah. Yeah,
- 2:09:27Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 2:09:28Speaker 1: I got to Sam Leavitt, and I'm like, it makes
- 2:09:30Speaker 1: too much sense for me. It makes too much sense.
- 2:09:33Speaker 1: The way my brain has worked in the season.
- 2:09:35Speaker 2: We feel good?
- 2:09:35Speaker 3: I know you're better than me.
- 2:09:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just going to hit the clap.
- 2:09:38Speaker 3: Boys, hey.
- 2:09:38Speaker 2: We're good. Phenomenal. What time is it? Good tight two
- 2:09:41Speaker 2: and a half hours today.
- 2:09:43Speaker 3: Tight, kept it tight.
- 2:09:45Speaker 1: It's 1.30. The biggest problem is figuring out how we
- 2:09:49Speaker 1: do 47 minutes on Fridays.
- 2:09:51Speaker 2: You just have to cut someone's mic. It might just
- 2:09:54Speaker 2: be us talking, just go to commercial break. You just
- 2:09:55Speaker 2: have to go to break. That's what you got to do.
- 2:09:58Speaker 2: And then they'll come back and we'll be in a
- 2:09:59Speaker 2: completely different conversation. You have to find people. That's what
- 2:10:01Speaker 2: you really have to do. You have to find people. Yeah.
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: We might have to have a fine jar, similar to
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: a swear jar.
- 2:10:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
