- 0:00The Mob Guys, Craig Coglianese and Wayne Dolcefino, on KSEV Radio.
- 0:24KSEV Radio! It's The Mob Guys. I am Craig Coglianese,
- 0:28because Wayne Dolcefino is on special assignment today
- 0:32because he had to go to the dentist and that's never fun.
- 0:34And then the after effects of going to the dentist
- 0:36are even less fun.
- 0:38So I think he'll be back tomorrow.
- 0:39Sharon, who's a regular caller,
- 0:41I like to call the station a lot, is on hold.
- 0:43I'm gonna get to her real quick.
- 0:44And Sharon, try to make your points quick for me, please.
- 0:47I have ADHD as a young person, so sometimes I struggle.
- 0:50So go ahead.
- 0:51You mentioned the explosion last night.
- 0:53I've heard those before.
- 0:55I do live on the west side south of I-10. I live in an area called Energy Corridor.
- 1:02Gotcha.
- 1:02So I've heard those noises before and I just really don't pay much attention to them anymore.
- 1:08Fair enough.
- 1:08They don't have it often but they have it occasionally.
- 1:12And the reason I think, well I've blamed a lot before on Section 8 housing that the city
- 1:20We've plopped in the middle of our areas over here, but...
- 1:26Sure.
- 1:28And a lot of that stuff does come from there because there's some criminal elements over
- 1:35there.
- 1:35I get it.
- 1:36But thank you to our Harris County Constable Patrol.
- 1:40They do keep our neighborhoods safe in this area.
- 1:42that I did want to ask you to please do more research on the county judge
- 1:51because here in Harris County I lived here all my life I grew up in a memorial
- 1:57villages I haven't gone far so you know I've just been here a long time I've
- 2:02seen a lot of changes and we never had these kind of problems in our city
- 2:08before the crime and the invasion of illegal aliens like we've had. And now people are
- 2:15starting to try to rise up protest about ice here in Houston. And thankfully, our mayor
- 2:22thankfully is working with ice now and I hope he'll continue to do that. But we need to
- 2:27know more about the county judge.
- 2:29In what way? You said do more research. What do you mean?
- 2:31Because I...
- 2:32No, no, Sharon, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. When I talk, you got to... Hold on. Okay.
- 2:36So here's the thing when you said do more research, what do you mean?
- 2:38I want to know what you meant. I had a guest on a few weeks ago.
- 2:42Maybe I'll bring back on that talked a lot about all the corruption that that is surrounding plumber.
- 2:48She's insane as far as the horrible things, even the stuff she just did, like professionally.
- 2:54I think she's been accused of a lot of bad stuff, a lot of fraud within a dental practice and other things.
- 3:00So as far as the candidate on the left, there's a lot of bad.
- 3:03And then Orlando Sanchez is awesome.
- 3:05He's been on the show.
- 3:06He'll be on the show again, I think, in the very near future.
- 3:09We're trying to coordinate a second interview
- 3:12with Orlando Sanchez where Wayne is here.
- 3:16Because I think Wayne wants to ask some questions to Orlando,
- 3:18and I don't want to do two interviews with Orlando Sanchez
- 3:21without Wayne.
- 3:22And I do think, I'll say this last thing, Sharon,
- 3:24and then I'll put you back on the air.
- 3:26I do think that Orlando's got the best shot at winning
- 3:28and flipping a seat at a local level that's been democratic
- 3:32and that Lena Hildalgo did horrible things
- 3:35for many, many years with.
- 3:37And a lot of the things you're saying
- 3:38about the border being wide open
- 3:41and a bunch of bad people coming into town
- 3:43and the crime that's happening.
- 3:44And honestly, just the oversight of the city budget itself
- 3:48is one of the biggest components
- 3:50to what we should be spending and shouldn't be spending on.
- 3:52And Orlando Sanchez would do a much better job of that
- 3:55than Dr. Letitia Plummer, who has done horrible things.
- 3:59Again, it seems professionally in mismanaging money and stealing money and embezzling money,
- 4:05all accusations.
- 4:06I'm not trying to get sued on the radio, so these are all...
- 4:09Some of them, I think, have been proven to be true about her.
- 4:11But you say, do more research.
- 4:13I need specificity.
- 4:14What are you actually asking that this station talk about and that this show talk about?
- 4:18Go ahead, Sharon.
- 4:20Okay.
- 4:21Yeah, let me be more specific.
- 4:22Thank you for the interview with Orlando.
- 4:24I did hear that.
- 4:25That was great.
- 4:26Right.
- 4:26And then also I've heard you talk about Letitia Plummer. I've heard that too. I do follow you and then
- 4:34I guess what I'm asking is you just weave it in more on a daily or just every few days basis
- 4:40I mean just to know even into your commentary because and you don't have to spend a long time. Yeah. Well, thank you
- 4:46Sharon for programming the radio show and programming the radio topics that we talked I appreciate that and here
- 4:52I'll be kind to you actually because I like you you seem like a very nice
- 4:55person and caller to the station. I think the reason you're asking for that is that
- 5:00you think it's a winnable race too. You think Orlando Sanchez can win that spot. And there
- 5:04are a lot of people who live in Harris County that would believe that they have no shot
- 5:08of winning. Not because Orlando is not much better candidate, like please, when you compare
- 5:13the two of them, it's ridiculous. But the reason why is just because of where we live.
- 5:16And the likelihood that a whole bunch of people will show up at a ballot box in this community,
- 5:21in Harris County and punch yes to whoever the Democrat is without even knowing anything about her.
- 5:28And I had a reporter on who has his own news site here in Texas that gets a decent amount of respect.
- 5:34And I should probably have him on again. I liked him.
- 5:36And some of the stuff he was writing about was all the corruption and things that is tied to a plumber
- 5:42and how bad she seems to be as just a person beyond the politician she might inevitably be.
- 5:49So, so I agree with that too.
- 5:52But I wonder if part of the
- 5:54conversation we're trying to have on the radio this morning or every morning on this station too,
- 5:59involves discussing some of those other close races at a local level. Senator Betancourt,
- 6:04who I said earlier I had on Dana's show
- 6:08yesterday when I was filling in on the national show, like that was, that wasn't just here.
- 6:11That was all over the country. I said that those local races matter a lot and he's right about that.
- 6:16They matter to the people here.
- 6:18And I wonder if a part of it is a belief that we just can't win, because we
- 6:21haven't seen a lot of winning from Republicans in Harris County in a while.
- 6:26And there deserves to be more.
- 6:28I can do a macro version of this discussion right now for you without the
- 6:32specificity of the different races and tell you that a lot of people are
- 6:36unhappy with day to day life here.
- 6:39The rise in property taxes is the easiest one to point out because it's
- 6:42transparent. It's and they hope it's not.
- 6:44They hope people don't notice and maybe a lot of people don't if you pay for your property taxes through
- 6:50you know an escrow or something you have set up with your
- 6:53Mortgage in which they are collecting that money
- 6:56It kind of just looks like insurances and other things that you pay when you own a home
- 7:01And so there's a lot of young people who own homes
- 7:02This has happened to me when I first bought my house
- 7:04We actually had to get a map of what all those costs where all those
- 7:08Financial places who was getting paid off at the end of it by your mortgage company, but nonetheless, I understand that
- 7:14I appreciate that.
- 7:15And I just wonder if some of these races it's harder to talk about because the inevitability
- 7:20of winning seems so daunting.
- 7:22But it's deserved.
- 7:24And I'll say it again one more time.
- 7:25If you want to pay less property taxes in Harris County, if you want your life, this
- 7:29is the right way to say it.
- 7:30If you want your day-to-day life to be better, whoever you are, wherever you live, but in
- 7:34this case, people who are in earshot of this radio station or on social media and can hear
- 7:38it. If you want your Monday through Friday, wake up and go to sleep, life to have changed,
- 7:45put people in power who aren't in power locally. Try the other team. This is what they're saying
- 7:50at a national level. Even some people on the writer saying that Trump didn't do what we wanted,
- 7:54and we got to help Democrats vote in crazy insane communists in a position to power,
- 8:02because this is actually going to upend our system. That couldn't be a dumber thing for me to hear.
- 8:06Like seriously, that couldn't be a stupider thing for me to hear people especially on the right say
- 8:11Because it's not gonna have local impact
- 8:14Even if you do it even if you put and it eventually will like it'll trickle down and gas prices will be terrible for everybody
- 8:20But if you want your day-to-day life to get vastly
- 8:24Different in the quickest amount of time you do have to focus on local elections
- 8:28And you really should try the other team and in Harris County
- 8:31We have a whole lot of people on the wrong side that have been in power for too long that have made things bad
- 8:37Ali has called in Lee. What do you want to say?
- 8:41I'm really bent that mr. Benton court because he allegedly passed a bill a couple sessions back
- 8:47keep Harris County from being a raise our property taxes and
- 8:52He left a loophole in there or they could do that and you now are up what 30 40 percent over the last
- 8:59five years.
- 9:02Do you mind if we do this, Lee?
- 9:04I don't mean to interrupt you just for a minute.
- 9:06Do you mind if we do this back and forth, if we talk back and forth as we do this?
- 9:09Because you said he left a loophole.
- 9:11Okay, thank you, sir.
- 9:12You said he left a loophole, and I would like to point out, and this is not inherently to
- 9:17defend Senator Betancourt, who's a part of the stradia station, that a single Texas state
- 9:22senator doesn't pass a bill all by themselves.
- 9:25They bring it to a vote, other people vote in it, and oftentimes when loopholes exist,
- 9:29It's because without them it wasn't going to pass at all.
- 9:32So getting a bill to pass at all that might have had an exploitable loophole is very different
- 9:37to me than not even doing anything.
- 9:40And so blaming Betancourt alone seems unfair because of all the other people who probably
- 9:46required it to be built a certain way before they would have supported it.
- 9:49But continue.
- 9:50OK.
- 9:51Fair enough.
- 9:52But when he has a radio station such as KFCV to crow about the work that he did and it blows up in his face, it looks pretty illegitimate, if you will.
- 10:05And I'm a fan of Benton Court. I'm just very...
- 10:11Yeah.
- 10:12And he gets to crow about it and then boom, here it is.
- 10:15I'll look, wait a minute, what did you tell us you did?
- 10:18And then the other side of it is he gets to make money off of it by helping us defend
- 10:24the morons that are stealing our money.
- 10:26I just feel like Paul put himself in an impossible position to be.
- 10:31You know what, I'll say something.
- 10:32One guy.
- 10:33One guy.
- 10:34I appreciate that last thought you just gave me, because I think some politicians who do
- 10:38You know, we fight certain things while also living life as a citizen are always in impossible situations.
- 10:45I think Senator Betancourt is one of those people who's in an impossible situation, but
- 10:49he's been fighting disaster loopholes and all kind of property tax loopholes for years.
- 10:54And he's been closing as many as he can for years and passing bills that try to get us
- 10:58there.
- 10:59But I do think the snake that is either the Democratic party or the political machine
- 11:05in general, tries to find a new way to do something and then raise property taxes again
- 11:10to take more of our money.
- 11:12So I, again, I actually don't personally think that Senator Pettencourt deserves to be the
- 11:19target of the ire as much as the system itself does.
- 11:23And as far as you're saying, crowing about it on the radio, I wish that it were true
- 11:28that KSEV were as influential as you seem to believe it is, but where I'm still happy
- 11:34I listen to those guys every Friday for the last however many years I've been on the radio.
- 11:38Well, but you do know that we've also had signal issues.
- 11:42So you're probably listening more on social media now that where do you live?
- 11:45What community do you live in?
- 11:46What neighborhood?
- 11:48Between Magnolia and the Woodlands.
- 11:50Okay.
- 11:50So the Woodlands is one of the only places where our signal is still doing pretty good.
- 11:53I just, you know, and I'm not trying to say that to tell everybody, turn the radio off.
- 11:56If it's staticky right now, go to our app, go to our website, you'll hear it better.
- 12:00But I don't think the power of this station is, you know, a thing that is causing Senator Betancourt to make political decisions.
- 12:08You're tying the two together, and I think that's –
- 12:11No, no.
- 12:11Okay, go ahead.
- 12:12No, I'm not emphasizing that at all.
- 12:14Okay, good. Okay, good.
- 12:15Then I misunderstood you.
- 12:16But go ahead, continue.
- 12:17I'm just saying that he gets to get on the radio and talk about everything he's doing, which is informative at worst, and at best it educates –
- 12:29We are the people that he is actually doing something.
- 12:32And then when it's done and the negative side of it is when it doesn't work the way he wants it to, he gets hit.
- 12:38He does.
- 12:39You know what I mean?
- 12:39I agree with that.
- 12:41I'm going to say, I'm going to say what he's not doing.
- 12:44Yeah, fair.
- 12:44That's fair.
- 12:45I just wonder what the tax hike would have been without that bill.
- 12:48Every time that a bill gets passed that limits something.
- 12:51Yeah, I always wonder what the world would look like without it.
- 12:54So I really do appreciate the call, Lee.
- 12:56Is there anything else you want to say?
- 12:58No, I'll be honest with you, I really, I love Chris Salsetto, I've loved him for years,
- 13:04but I really do like your show.
- 13:06Oh man!
- 13:07I want to give you that plug.
- 13:08Oh look at that lead!
- 13:09I really like it.
- 13:09That's great, thank you very much for the call.
- 13:11I was not expecting that, to be honest, at the end of that call would be like, especially
- 13:14compared to Salsetto.
- 13:16That's a guy that I still want to listen to his show and it's on during mine.
- 13:20Every time I see it pop up on social media, Salsetto's doing his own thing.
- 13:24I'm like, man, I have to host a show, but I'd like to know what he's talking about.
- 13:28So thank you, Lee.
- 13:29That was a very kind compliment you just gave me there.
- 13:32And I feel for Betancourt, I understand somebody's got to be blamed when something doesn't go
- 13:36the way you want it to go, but I do wonder what the tax hikes would have been without
- 13:40the bills Senator Betancourt has been passing for years to try to fight them.
- 13:44A quick break, a lot more, Voice of Texas.

- 15:44Well Texas Ryan Wielis who can help you live your richest life possible during your retirement
- 15:50years.
- 15:51That's each Sunday at 9am right here on AM700 KSEV.
- 16:15very happily call ourselves that and we're doing it tongue in cheek.
- 16:19I don't know if people understand that.
- 16:21And actually, you know what I also find funny?
- 16:22And my mom said this to me the other day as a millennial.
- 16:26I talked to my mom too much about radio and about what I do on radio.
- 16:30And she listens to all the radio.
- 16:32My mom is like, is the mob guys offensive?
- 16:34She asked me that she's like, do you think that's offensive?
- 16:37Should you call yourselves something else?
- 16:38Some other version of the same thought?
- 16:40And I was like, no, I don't think it's offensive.
- 16:42I'm an Italian from the East Coast, so is Wayne and he likes some mob movies like the
- 16:49Godfather movie and I don't think it's offensive because we don't actually behave like mobsters.
- 16:54We're not going to show up anywhere and leverage you into doing a live read for us or we're
- 16:58going to break your legs.
- 16:59That's not a thing we're going to do.
- 17:01So I find that kind of amusing.
- 17:02I like the nickname and also I know that the mob, at least the Italian version, hasn't
- 17:07really existed in our society for quite some time.
- 17:09So I doubt that young people even get it as as a reference to like something that was real at one point
- 17:16Which is funny in and of itself, but I also think I'll just say one last thing about it
- 17:20I also think it's a nice tongue-in-cheek way to reference who the actual mob is in
- 17:262026 and it's the politicians. They're the mob they do mob stuff constantly
- 17:31One of the stories I saw recently and I probably won't get into it now
- 17:35but I'm kind of tempted to. It involves a politician that is doing all kinds of crazy stuff.
- 17:41The minute that they found out that some money is going to be cut off over here, over there,
- 17:45the way they wield that political influence to harm people that they think are supposed to keep
- 17:51giving them money, that's the mob, man. That's what they do. And so I think that we are at times
- 17:58reflecting the the horribleness of the actual mob in 2026, which is in fact the
- 18:04politician, but I just thought it was funny. My mom called me the other day and
- 18:07she's like, do you think it's offensive? And I was like, no, I don't think so and
- 18:11I don't want to call ourselves a different thing. I like mob guys. Wayne
- 18:13likes mob guys. That's what we're gonna do. Let me play this audio. This is a
- 18:19reporter asking a question to JD Vance and I thought it was really interesting.
- 18:23a public service announcement about good use of taxpayer dollars, even in a midterm cycle,
- 18:29was the basics of the question that was given to him.
- 18:33And J.D.
- 18:33Vance did a really good job of tearing apart Obamacare, of tearing apart quite a few things,
- 18:39and saying like, these are examples of a bad thing that we have that we don't want.
- 18:45And if we keep doing what we're doing, and you let us keep doing what we're doing, these
- 18:50things will go away, they won't get even worse.
- 18:54And the fraud will be found unlike how it's going right now.
- 18:57Like if the Republicans lose power, I think less fraud will be detected because more of
- 19:02the time spent in the House and in the Senate will be just trying to impeach Trump for you
- 19:07name the thing they think he did wrong.
- 19:09But here, let's play J.D.
- 19:10Vance first.
- 19:10Let's do this.
- 19:11Mr. Vice President, you think PSAs are a good use of taxpayer dollars, even in a midterm
- 19:16cycle where Republicans have a major cash advantage?
- 19:18Well, look, if you look historically, you know, go back to the Obama administration
- 19:24with the Affordable Care Act, you have the people's government using tax dollars to advertise
- 19:31about what the government is doing.
- 19:32It's part of actually, I think, living in a constitutional republic.
- 19:35You have to be honest with the American people about what you're doing, about what's going
- 19:38on, and part of that is getting out there and telling the message.
- 19:40So I don't think there's anything unusual or unorthodox about it.
- 19:43I'm sure that some people probably don't like it, but if you look at the message of those
- 19:47advertisements. They're not partisan. They're not, you know, it's not like we're advocating
- 19:52for particular cases.
- 19:53I want to stop right there. There's a radio group that I never really named. They're somewhat
- 19:57successful here in Houston. They're successful other places too, throughout the country.
- 20:03That is 100% paid for, or at least was for a very long time by taxpayer dollars and ridiculously
- 20:08partisan.
- 20:09And the Trump administration has tried to fight it.
- 20:11It's three letters.
- 20:13N is the first one.
- 20:14What I find so funny about these types of topics when they blow up and J.D. Vance is
- 20:19caught before he boards Air Force Two and asked a question about a taxpayer dollars
- 20:24going toward specific PSAs.
- 20:27What I think is funny about that is how the Democrats all pretend as though they don't
- 20:31do that kind of thing constantly.
- 20:33They don't subsidize a radio network that preaches for their side of the aisle only.
- 20:38If you listen to that three-letter station here in this community, you will hear overwhelmingly one-sided
- 20:46discussion points. And one of my favorite versions of that too, one of my favorite outings of that is when an employee at a fairly high level
- 20:53you probably remember this story, I wound up saying that in certain meetings
- 20:57he would feel like he was the only person even willing to accept the thought process of the other side. Like it's not that
- 21:04they actually went with a story that benefited a conservative or Republican
- 21:08But even in the meeting, like pitching it would get you, you know, side eyed and eventually probably fired because so many organizations are like that.
- 21:16And I think I've talked about this before.
- 21:19And I always forget what show, whether it's the morning show that's relatively new.
- 21:22We've been doing this a little over a month or the show I was doing before that at night.
- 21:27I worked at some of these places, not not.
- 21:30And you know what?
- 21:31And PR, I'll just say it once I'll do it once.
- 21:33I'm not doing it again.
- 21:35I never worked there, although I did know people that did work there in Chicago.
- 21:38I worked at some other places that had newsrooms that were inherently left.
- 21:43And you'd sit in the meeting and talk about the topics with the producers, with the host,
- 21:47with whoever, and you just sit there thinking like, when are we going to pitch the other
- 21:50thing?
- 21:51And if you ever pitched it, you felt immediate hatred.
- 21:56You're like, whoa, like what happened here?
- 21:57Like you learn very early on in a career, especially as a younger person that might be
- 22:01new to a newsroom that even if your thoughts are not what they thought they were when they
- 22:06hired you, because I think they attempt to hire people that are only on one side politically,
- 22:10but if they hire a rogue, an accident, then you find out early on that you should probably
- 22:15be quiet for the sake of your job.
- 22:17And it's horrible.
- 22:18It's horrible to deal with, but that's how these newsrooms get so inherently biased in
- 22:22the first place.
- 22:22That's my belief is that it's a punishment system.
- 22:26And I actually have a really good friend of mine in radio and television who told me that
- 22:30He felt the same way for a long time.
- 22:31He's done the show before,
- 22:33although I think it's been a while.
- 22:34So maybe I'll have Mark Strauss's name back on
- 22:37because he does such a good job
- 22:39of every time I experienced that early on in my career,
- 22:43like breaking down what the intention was,
- 22:45how it was going and what the next step was.
- 22:48And I am a guy who's been at a few different radio stations
- 22:52or a few different places in my career
- 22:53and not knowing how to be quiet.
- 22:56I just don't know how to do that part.
- 22:58And I think it makes me a good radio host.
- 22:59I'm not going to talk about myself for much longer than just this.
- 23:02I promise we'll get back to something more interesting in about three or
- 23:06four minutes after I think another break we have coming up in a little bit.
- 23:10But I think part of the you don't know how to be quiet in moments where you
- 23:13should thing makes you good on air.
- 23:16I think it's the reason and I'm not comparing myself to Rush Limbaugh.
- 23:19He's incredibly more talented than I am was more talented than I am as a person.
- 23:24But that's why Rush got fired a lot like even that guy and his level of success,
- 23:27his level of capability, a bunch of places Ashcanned him because he's the type of person
- 23:33that some of us are where I don't think you can be quiet in certain situations, in certain rooms.
- 23:39Even I don't, I hate when I do this, I'm going to do it because it's in my head. Even when it's not
- 23:44about like politics, when you're talking to somebody in a power position and they say something that
- 23:49inherently annoys you, or in my case, I think it's profoundly stupid. There's times when that
- 23:54happens and you have a choice.
- 23:56You're like, oh, don't, don't treat them like they're dumb.
- 23:59And then you do, and then you get fired again.
- 24:02Then you're out of another gig.
- 24:04Um, that, that happens.
- 24:05But I think that sometimes it's also a thing that you can't help.
- 24:09If what you're trying to do for at least two hours, three hours,
- 24:12however many hours a day is jump on a microphone, talking to, you know, a set
- 24:17of, um, transmitters to people and tell them what you think, if my profession
- 24:23is to tell you what I think.
- 24:25It's really hard to turn that off at 9 o'clock.
- 24:28And I think that that makes some of us better at this
- 24:30and worse at some other stuff.
- 24:32Quick break, a lot more.
- 24:34This is KSEV Mornings, the voice of Texas.
- 24:36My name is Craig Coglianese.
- 24:42Going next.

- 24:53And let me ask you a quick question. How many times have you switched your health insurance in the last few years?
- 24:57How many times have you wanted to switch your health insurance the last few years?
- 25:01If you're in good health and pay your own insurance,
- 25:03you don't have to settle for scary high deductibles
- 25:06or unaffordable premiums.
- 25:08Let American medical plans find the right plan for you
- 25:10and a price you can afford.
- 25:12Call 833-500-PLAN.
- 25:14No, this is not some ridiculous Obamacare plan
- 25:17with no doctors and a limited HMO.
- 25:19And it's not some rinky-nink insurance company
- 25:21that doesn't cover a single claim.
- 25:23No, this is real coverage for you and your family.
- 25:26Go to the doctors and hospitals you choose.
- 25:28Stop shopping around hunting for the best deal.
- 25:30American Medical Plans will do the hunting for you.

- 25:48American Medical Plans.

- 25:52As a Texan, you deserve your court system to deliver justice that is fair,
- 25:57understandable, and within reach.
- 25:59Chief Justice Jimmy Blacklock says that starts with judges applying the law as
- 26:03written so the rules don't change depending on who walks into the
- 26:07courtroom. But fairness also means a court system that works for the people
- 26:10it serves. Blacklock has called for reducing unnecessary delays and expenses,
- 26:16simplifying court procedures, and making legal services more affordable. Because a
- 26:21case should be decided on the facts and the law, not on who can afford the
- 26:51pain.
- 26:52Your home is so important to you and your family.

- 27:21will bring very warm weather with the sun breaking through clouds sporadically reaching a high of 91.
- 27:27Friday is set to be mostly sunny with a high of 88, while Saturday will feature partly sunny skies and a high of 85.
- 27:33With the KSEV Weather Center forecast, I'm AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg.
- 27:48KSEV mornings on the voice of Texas man I gotta check out American Medical.
- 27:52Thank you to Chris Alsato for letting me know about that.
- 27:55That is very much appreciated.
- 27:59It's weird to hear a live read from Chris Alsato still.
- 28:02I hope he's doing well.
- 28:03Alright let's play some other stuff.
- 28:05There's a lot of things out there. Well, not a live a recorded read. Let's do this. Shall we?
- 28:10This is a bunch of people in CNN
- 28:11Saying crazy stuff and then at least one person saying maybe some sane stuff
- 28:17That person is always Scott Jennings who says the same things when everybody else is saying insane stuff, which I find
- 28:24Fun to say the very least I find that to be amusing because darn it. How do we actually fix this in our world?
- 28:31Well, a lot of people just stop watching CNN here. Let's play a little bit of this audio first
- 28:35We were going to have an election, right?
- 28:37Because I remember the Democrats telling us we wouldn't even have the Smith
- 28:40term.
- 28:41About this time last year.
- 28:42Okay, but that's that's hold on.
- 28:43That's crazy.
- 28:44It's not a diverse.
- 28:44Do you think that was telling a book which goes on sale tomorrow?
- 28:51Tom Tillis has been a critic of this president since his career was destroyed by the president.
- 28:56So I don't necessarily go to Tom Tillis for any kind of objective response.
- 29:00Is the president going to be upset with how this will find.
- 29:04Let's try the stroke. Oh my God. Here's the thing. I love about this so much. So yes, there's a voice of reason on CNN yet again
- 29:10Jason Rance is the guy's name
- 29:12And I loved the beginning of that actually
- 29:15So let me play that again where we I guess we're gonna have an election because everybody told us the trial
- 29:20Set election from happening, which I think is hilarious. But here we go here
- 29:24We we're gonna have an election right because I remember the Democrats telling us we wouldn't even have this midterm
- 29:29about this time last year.
- 29:31Okay, but that's a diversion.
- 29:33It's not a diversion.
- 29:33Do you think Donald Trump will accept it?
- 29:35It's a diversion.
- 29:36Can you answer the question?
- 29:37How dare you?
- 29:37How dare you point out a very obvious thing
- 29:39that all of us can tell that, yeah,
- 29:41we are in fact gonna have an election.
- 29:42But I love the second part, the Tom Tillis part,
- 29:45because the left is so happy
- 29:47if someone that still pretends they have an R
- 29:50in front of their name, the Rhino people,
- 29:52says a thing that's negative about Republicans.
- 29:55Like they love it.
- 29:56They'll actually prop you up.
- 29:57They'll do anything they can to make you the type of person that, you know, everyone should
- 30:04look to for advice.
- 30:04They hated you if you were a Republican that supported Trump a month ago.
- 30:09And then fast forward to who you are now if you're Tucker or anybody else, and suddenly
- 30:13they love you.
- 30:14They're like, oh, let's have them on The View.
- 30:15Let's have this person on whatever platform we think they deserve to be on because we
- 30:19just want to hear them say one thing.
- 30:21And here's the stupid part.
- 30:23of that game. They believe, the left believes that this actually influences Republicans to change their opinion.
- 30:31Like there's a lot of people on the far left that are very annoyed that they can't control what other people think,
- 30:38especially the politicians, but certainly some voters feel that way. Like they're annoyed by that.
- 30:42And so they wonder to themselves, well, how do I force them to think what I think? And their best thing they come up with is,
- 30:48Let me pretend someone still supports that side Marjorie Taylor Greene and let's roll her out wherever we wanted to go
- 30:54And if she says something we don't like we got it
- 30:57We got to couch that we got to silence that part
- 30:59But as long as she says negative stuff about Trump that'll be great and they think that actually influences the right and it doesn't
- 31:06John Cornyn did not become the candidate in this state
- 31:10Because the actual people who show up at primary elections and vote on the right do pay attention
- 31:17And they do care who actually votes for you, especially at times that matter most, like
- 31:22who actually supports you in those moments where you need support on a certain topic
- 31:28where you watch someone like a corn and wilt, and then we don't want those people to continue
- 31:33representing us because we know they're not really Republicans.
- 31:37We call it rhinos.
- 31:38Trump calls it a rhino.
- 31:39Use whatever term you want.
- 31:41These are the people that the left loves to prop up, loves to help, and loves to have
- 31:45in positions of power to say no when the time matters most.
- 31:50These are also the kind of individuals
- 31:52that I sometimes wonder like, what do they have on you?
- 31:55Like what seedy thing behind closed doors
- 31:57did a Wayne Dolcefino type figure out,
- 32:00do with the investigative reporting and find out about you
- 32:02and then hand off, not that Wayne would actually do that,
- 32:05but someone else would do that and hand it off
- 32:07and then that causes a Cornyn to be, you know,
- 32:11willing to be called on the bat signal
- 32:12whenever the Democrats need it
- 32:14and do whatever they need them to do.
- 32:16The whole standing up against and preventing
- 32:19the Save America Act is ridiculous.
- 32:21It's one of the dumbest things
- 32:22I've seen happen politically.
- 32:24I exaggerate a lot.
- 32:26I think I have on this episode today,
- 32:27but I can't help it because I do think that's true.
- 32:31Overwhelmingly, Americans support this.
- 32:33Right, left, in the middle, doesn't matter.
- 32:35People want voters to have an ID.
- 32:38It's not a complicated topic.
- 32:39It's not a one-sided issue where 85% of Republicans support it and 3% of Democrats do.
- 32:47That's not what any of the data tells us on this.
- 32:50And yet the Democrats refuse to do it.
- 32:52They keep shopping the message to their own supporters that it's racist, even though it's
- 32:57not.
- 32:57And it's a lot of other things they claim it is that it's not.
- 33:00And my favorite part about the entirety of that process, the entirety of that system
- 33:05and how it works is that at the end of it, at the end of that, that, you know, rabbit
- 33:09hole that is that entire discussion, they think they can influence us by trotting out
- 33:14one of these weak people and having them say the thing they want to say.
- 33:18And they don't.
- 33:19That falls in deaf ears.
- 33:20Most of us can probably hear Cornyn right now say something and have it go in one ear
- 33:25and out the other because we simply don't care because you failed this one too many
- 33:29times and we want you to stand stronger with us.
- 33:31And I will say this about the Senate race where I'm not just attacking Talarico.
- 33:36potentially I'm actually doing something that hopefully benefits Ken Paxton. He
- 33:41has done a lot of things that were not easy to do in the world of politics that
- 33:47other people didn't want to try to do as far as attorneys general go. All these
- 33:52different things that he did have proved that he's willing to fight when it's hard,
- 33:56not just when it's easy. And I think that that needs to be appreciated more than
- 34:01it seems to be appreciated. It just doesn't seem to be the thing that's landing the
- 34:05way it should, because when you talk about Paxton, you talk about defending the border.
- 34:10You talk about defending women from having to deal with men in places they shouldn't
- 34:17be.
- 34:18You go down the list of all these things that Paxton used his legal avenues as the attorney
- 34:23general here in Texas to do that helped protect our state from being a crazy leftist place.
- 34:30If you send him to Washington as a senator, he'll do the same thing there.
- 34:34Paxton's the kind of guy that'll be on TV within a few months, even though President
- 34:38Trump craps on how he looks and craps on his inability to be maybe as eloquent as some
- 34:43other people.
- 34:44But Paxton's the kind of dude who would be on TV as a senator a few months after being
- 34:48elected, being picked to defend the thing that a lot of the Republican senators want
- 34:53to do that the Democrats are going crazy about, and he'd do a good job of defending it.
- 34:57He's like, we do need to do this.
- 34:58And this is why I support it.
- 35:00He'd probably brings bring some of his own bills forward that would accomplish some of those goals
- 35:04There would be controversy that would surround him not because of any private life stuff
- 35:09I don't care about but because of the way in which he'd wield
- 35:12Additional power to benefit conservatives and make Democrats mad
- 35:17That's I believe a significant portion of what's happened so far for Ken Paxton
- 35:22He's one of the people who's not been afraid who hasn't been
- 35:26Intimidated and when you don't get afraid and you aren't intimidated and you keep coming after people
- 35:30Eventually, they relent eventually they give in or they attack you at all costs or they scream every single
- 35:37Insane thing they can about you because they want you to go away
- 35:42They think that that makes things better and actually I'll say one last thing
- 35:46Sort of just like a macro rant conversation or topic today. It never makes things better
- 35:52The other thing that's so funny about this is the corrupt people, the people who wield power in stupid ways,
- 35:58they don't actually fix something by getting someone to go away. If there's a,
- 36:02you know, a thorn in their side, when that person goes away, someone else usually takes up the mantle and keeps going.
- 36:10Because the corruption part is the part we care about more now. We don't care about the
- 36:15individual, you know, destroying of people's character, saying, oh, this person's terrible.
- 36:20They're horrible and awful and you should never listen to them that that falls on deaf ears after Trump
- 36:25Actually, you know what? I'll play that audio because Trump himself said it the other day president Trump that they tried to kill him
- 36:31They tried to do so much to harm him that I think we've seen the most ridiculous version of that scenario
- 36:38Play out in our lifetimes and it's made it harder to pay attention to the game when it gets played again
- 36:45now. Like we've seen it too many times to understand that, you know, or to still be
- 36:50tricked by it is the way I should say it. Here we go. This is President Trump saying,
- 36:54they literally tried to kill me and they failed and they're going to fail again.
- 36:57Now I hope they actually do fail to take over any kind of power in the House and Senate. I'm not
- 37:02sure. I don't like the data that I don't usually care about as far as polling data goes. There's
- 37:07just too much of it. I still think Republicans can win. I still think you should show up and vote in
- 37:11all the elections, but I'll tell you that I'm worried more so than President Trump seems
- 37:15to be.
- 37:16But at least this point, I really, really believe.
- 37:21So they've tried to smear us, to slander us, to persecute us and demoralize us.
- 37:28They've attacked me and impeached me, arrested me, and they even tried to kill me, I guess.
- 37:34They definitely did, sir.
- 37:35But with you up by side, we've won every single barrel.
- 37:38We have won every battle.
- 37:41They can't believe it.
- 37:42They say, oh.
- 37:45Okay.
- 37:46All right, look, I'm going to stop right here.
- 37:48I don't try to be overly MAGA on this radio station or on shows in general, but one thing
- 37:54I really like about Donald Trump, the person, or President Trump, the individual, is how
- 38:00happy he is when he wins against bull crap.
- 38:04I think I almost connect to that personally, and I bet you a lot of people do.
- 38:08bull crap that happens in your everyday life when you somehow rise above it, when
- 38:13you somehow succeed while all the crap is surrounding you, you feel great and
- 38:18President Trump is the type of real person that demonstrates that feeling
- 38:22publicly. Because there are some people who pretend it's not happening. They'll
- 38:26go like, you know what, I don't need to celebrate a win when people were
- 38:29throwing swords at me. I can just move on. I can lift my head. I can round the bases
- 38:34after the home run and pretend I hit them all the time. And then there's
- 38:37people who don't do that. And in the world of baseball, I actually kind of hate it. I
- 38:41wish that everybody would go back to putting their head down and running around the bases.
- 38:44But in this society, in this world of the personal attacks that come after you, when
- 38:49you defeat them, you feel as good as Trump feels. And I've always liked that about him.
- 38:53I've always thought that was kind of an incredible aspect of how he carries himself and how he
- 38:58even debated people. Like when he would do debates against Hillary Clinton or someone
- 39:02else and he'd be standing there and saying, you're the corrupt person, not me. And it
- 39:06It sort of silenced the room.
- 39:07The problem was that the Democrats couldn't argue that the things that he was accusing
- 39:11Hillary of weren't real.
- 39:13They weren't true.
- 39:15And people didn't talk that way back.
- 39:17When they were accused of being the bad guy, they just sat there and listened and then
- 39:21tried to take the higher road and Trump doesn't do it.
- 39:24And I do love that it's probably the East Coast thing.
- 39:27It's the East Coast connection there of being a guy that lived in New York for so long and
- 39:31me being a guy born and raised in Jersey just outside of New York City.
- 39:35The place itself, horrible politically, but the lessons you learn from a Houston, New
- 39:42York, any big city, the struggle that's different there and the success of it, I think those
- 39:47lessons are valuable and I think Trump definitely shows them often.
- 39:50A quick break, a little bit more coming up.

- 42:52quick four-ish or rapid fire.
- 42:55These are not necessarily the most important or serious topics of the day,
- 42:59but darn it, I'm going to have fun talking about them.
- 43:02It's National Taco Day.
- 43:04Only 2% of Americans have never had a taco, which is hilarious.
- 43:07It's also Taco Tuesday, which I've never celebrated on purpose.
- 43:12I've eaten tacos on a Tuesday.
- 43:13I've eaten them on a Wednesday.
- 43:14I've never done it because of what day it is.
- 43:16I've done it because tacos are delicious.
- 43:18But I love that only 2% of people
- 43:20have never had them here in our country.
- 43:2353% of Americans prefer soft to hard shell tacos.
- 43:26They're wrong about that.
- 43:28I think hard shell are actually better.
- 43:29I think corn tortilla is better across the board.
- 43:33That's a very Mexico thing.
- 43:35OK, so.
- 43:36OK, hold on.
- 43:36Here we go.
- 43:38I do two hours. I talk about sports. Nothing makes Russell want to jump in other than tacos.
- 43:43Okay, but you're talking, you like to crunch your tacos better than soft tacos.
- 43:46I do, but it's because they're corn and not flour that's one of the reasons.
- 43:50The one reason I like the flour is I can stuff more meat and more stuff in my flour tortilla
- 43:54than I can a little bitty corn and taco.
- 43:56Without it falling apart too, because the corn will fall, yeah I get it. That's true,
- 43:59it doesn't taste delicious.
- 44:01I stuff it in there and then it cracks and it falls apart and I will just crumble it
- 44:03all up and have a taco salad.
- 44:04Well, let me ask you this, Russell. Are you doing that because you want to pretend you're
- 44:07not eating as much as me? Because I don't mind eating seven tacos. Because they're all
- 44:11little. I don't mind eating 10. I don't need to eat two burritos and pretend I ate less
- 44:15food. Is that what's happening? Do you want to just eat two?
- 44:18You put it that way. That's what you're doing. Okay. All right.
- 44:21I'll eat seven. I'll eat 10 of them. My wife makes me flautas at home, which are just the
- 44:26rolled up taco. And then she fries it and it's delicious, man. And I'll eat like eight
- 44:33of those and then I'll feel like a fat guy.
- 44:36No, you don't have to be done.
- 44:38You don't have to be out of the conversation.
- 44:40Is taco the only thing you feel is strongly about?
- 44:42What about the corn versus the flour tortilla?
- 44:44I'm a flour.
- 44:45I'm a flour but I'm a ... For taste?
- 44:46Like a corn crunchy taco, corn tortilla chips.
- 44:50I mean, come on.
- 44:51They're good.
- 44:51They're very good.
- 44:52Is this the only thing you feel is strongly about?
- 44:54Do people in Texas feel strongly about hot dogs or no?
- 44:57No.
- 44:57You don't care.
- 44:58You guys don't care about the hot dogs.
- 44:59It's a very big debate other places.
- 45:01What makes it delicious?
- 45:02Well, in Chicago, they won't put any ketchup on it because it ruins it.
- 45:06In New York, they will.
- 45:07I like chili and cheese and some jalapenos.
- 45:09Jalapenos are great.
- 45:10You put all the stuff.
- 45:10You put the tomatoes.
- 45:11You put the relish.
- 45:12The Chicago dog.
- 45:13I don't do the Chicago dog.
- 45:15I mean, it's good.
- 45:15I've had it.
- 45:16You know, James Coney Island, a hot dog place here in town.
- 45:20I've had some decent, decent, I've tried the Chicago stuff.
- 45:23It's not bad, but I just like chili, cheese, and jalapenos.
- 45:26You guys have portillos here in Houston.
- 45:29You call it Portillo's, which is not what it's called.
- 45:32It's called Portillo's.
- 45:33It's out of Chicago, and you have a few of them, I think, in the suburbs, and it is great.
- 45:37I highly recommend people go to Portillo's.
- 45:39I met the man who owned the place before he passed away.
- 45:42We did interviews with him.
- 45:43Never heard of it.
- 45:44Never?
- 45:45Never heard of it.
- 45:45Look it up.
- 45:46It's in the suburbs.
- 45:47It's a few places around.
- 45:48I love it.
- 45:49As far as the Chicago hot dog goes, it's the best one, and I think it traveled well here.
- 45:54But the most amusing thing to me is that because it's got two L's, people call it Portillo's
- 45:58Instead of Portillo, they do the Mexican version.
- 46:01And like I met Dick Portillo, I met the guy.
- 46:03He would be very upset to know that Texas is calling it the wrong things.
- 46:07They're going to call it the right thing.
- 46:08But I would suggest that hot dog before you tell me that you're not a Chicago hot dog
- 46:14guy.
- 46:15And if you eat that one and don't like it, then fine.
- 46:17And you can get a cake shake with it, but just know you're begging for diabetes.
- 46:21If you get a hot dog and a cake shake, you probably should go check yourself with a doctor
- 46:26at some point later.
- 46:27For anyone that doesn't know a cake shake
- 46:30Portillo's is very proud of this we could have them in studio if you want I know the people we might be able to get them
- 46:36Here to try the food. They take an entire piece of cake put it in the machete the milkshake machine
- 46:42Blend it together, and then you drink that it's the milkshake normally disgusting
- 46:49It's not it's delicious man disgusting
- 46:52They, it's funny to watch them do it because like they're making a regular milkshake and then they
- 46:56take out a slice of cake, they put it into the machine, they blend and keep going and you're
- 47:00like that shouldn't have happened and then you drink it and you're, I don't know, I'm gonna get
- 47:04them in studio, let me see if I still have the Portillo's contact and then we can do a live
- 47:08Chicago hot dog test on the air. Have you guys done a lot of food tests on this radio show? I
- 47:13know that, actually you know what, the show's almost over, this is probably a more fun thing
- 47:17to talk about. Russell has been producing this show in this time slot for how many years?
- 47:23Forever.
- 47:25So, the most notable thing that happened on the station from a stunt perspective involved
- 47:33Mobley, right?
- 47:34Dr. Mobley and Dan Patrick.
- 47:37Yeah, that was long before my time.
- 47:38They did a vasectomy live on the radio.
- 47:41They did.
- 47:41They did.
- 47:42I'm never going to be able to compete with that.
- 47:44Nobody that's ever hosted the show will be able to compete with that.
- 47:47I wonder what stunts we can do that aren't that one.
- 47:51Is there any other one you remember the KSEV morning show doing that had success?
- 47:55Not at that level.
- 47:55Yeah, no, not at that level.
- 47:57But have we done any other things?
- 47:59Have we like showed up somewhere and caused a scene like Dolcefino is so good at?
- 48:03Is there anything else we've done or could we do?
- 48:06No, but you know there was a tradition we used to have here that started back with Ed
- 48:10Hindi, the owner of Taste of Texas.
- 48:14Where it was funny, him and one of his buddies, Bruce Lover, it was over Valentine's.
- 48:19Okay.
- 48:20And Bruce and I listen Kroger has the most unbelievable flower bouquets and
- 48:26whatnot and it became such a big deal. Ed made such a big joke to us about it.
- 48:31About your love of it. And then when Bruce brought some flowers and his wife Naina
- 48:36Hindi saw the flowers and asked where that said it was the most amazing thing
- 48:40she's ever seen. Yeah. They're like it's from Kroger so for several years we
- 48:44We would go to a Kroger on Valentine's Day in the parking lot and do a live broadcast
- 48:51from the Kroger flower tents.
- 48:53Why can't we do that again?
- 48:54Do we still have those relationships?
- 48:55We probably could.
- 48:56I don't think they probably wouldn't mind it.
- 48:58Hold on though, I want to make sure about it.
- 48:59You still think that the flower bouquets at Kroger are that good?
- 49:02Oh, they're amazing.
- 49:03Yeah, they're awesome.
- 49:04They're awesome.
- 49:05Why?
- 49:05Why not go to a regular flower shop?
- 49:07They don't do as well?
- 49:08What is Kroger doing?
- 49:10Did you ever decide what it was?
- 49:11Just a better quality, better look.
- 49:13I don't know.
- 49:14They were exceptional.
- 49:15I gotta say one last thing about this,
- 49:17and I don't know if this is how this topic
- 49:18was talked about before.
- 49:20I feel like I wouldn't know personally,
- 49:22I would feel like the only way that I'd know
- 49:24is if I got them for the wife
- 49:25and she thought they were better, right?
- 49:27Like there's gotta be some part of that.
- 49:28Like I'll walk in, I'll see the flowers,
- 49:30I'll think maybe they look incredible,
- 49:32I'll bring them home and I'll be told how I was wrong.
- 49:34You know what I mean?
- 49:35Like did the women in your lives
- 49:37think that this was also true?
- 49:40I mean, that's an important distinction for me.
- 49:43I mean my wife likes the flowers from Kroger. I'm gonna have to buy them for her because she hates me wasting money on flowers
- 49:48Cuz I look out there, but nice but uh
- 49:52Your belief that they're like one of the best flower shops did I do that's what when we were dating when we were dating before
- 49:58We got married and I would take her flowers. That's why I go get my flowers. That's awesome, dude. That's awesome
- 50:02I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna I'm not gonna tell the missus where they're from. I'm gonna get some Kroger flowers
- 50:07I'm gonna bring them home and if Betty likes it
- 50:09I you know what I also used to do a thing on another version of a show I did
- 50:12It was Spanish word of the day. My wife is born and raised in Mexico
- 50:16And she's lovely. If I ever have her on the air, she becomes so popular so quickly.
- 50:21There was a radio show I did in Illinois. People would call in during Betty's segment and talk to her.
- 50:27They'd call in on the radio and they'd be like, hi Betty. And they wouldn't care that I was there at all. It was amazing.
- 50:32But anyway, we used to do like a Spanish word of the day segment and it would change from that
- 50:36to what Betty was right about that I was wrong about recently.
- 50:39She'd always bring it up. She'd be like, this topic that we were talking about, Craig, I was right and you were wrong.
- 50:44I wonder if the flowers and the Kroger would be another thing if like she'd agree with you guys and think they're amazing and
- 50:50I would have to eat my words and doubting that that's true. I don't know why I doubt that that's true
- 50:54Kroger is a great shop. I'm sure it's a great shop
- 50:56It's probably they have $20 off on your first floral arrangement order right now
- 51:01Online as long as it's 75 bucks or more. So this seems great, but I don't know why I can't believe it
- 51:06I probably need the missus to tell me you're right next time you go to cover
- 51:09Just make sure you stop in the floor
- 51:10Take a look grab some flowers bring them home to the missus and then be told how wrong I was again
- 51:15Should I do the Spanish word of the day again, or we don't need it in Texas?
- 51:22That's what she said to everywhere else I've done it it's like more interesting but here a decent amount of our audience probably know
- 51:29Do you know all the Spanish bad words? I do. Okay. Is that a Texas thing? Does everybody in Texas know all the Spanish bad words? I
- 51:40school and you know grade school I mean my kids are taking it now so I okay though I know some
- 51:46other appropriate words yeah and I know some appropriate words too I know all the bad words
- 51:49but that's just because I get them yelled at me occasionally all right before we get out of here
- 51:53I know we only have a couple minutes left I appreciate this we're gonna brainstorm stunts
- 51:56live in the air with Wayne Dolcefino who I think you know what's the funniest part about this
- 52:00Russell out of all the guys that could have been picked to co-host this morning show with me
- 52:05Wayne's gonna be the most down for some sort of publicity stunt, I think.
- 52:10I'm just assuming he won't do anything that'll harm his credibility.
- 52:15But if it's something goofy and silly and it gets his attention, I think Wayne will
- 52:19be there before even you and I showed up.
- 52:21I think he'd be the first person to go, right?
- 52:23Probably so, probably so.
- 52:25That's an amazing win for us, is that we have a guy who's gonna wanna do...
- 52:29He'll probably even do like if I told him to dress up as a mascot and go somewhere that
- 52:34he'd do it.
- 52:35Russell's nodding his head. That's very exciting.
- 52:37That's it. That's the show. We'll check with Wayne tomorrow if that's true.
- 52:40And I'll check the floral arrangements at Kroger on my way home today.
- 52:44Talk to you next time on The Voice of Texas KSEV Radio.
