  Really. Welcome
• 0:55
to 70x80, the section of 7080 .it that deepens
• 1:00
the topics discussed on the portal. I'm with
• 1:02
the journalist Enzo Mauri who introduces today's
• 1:06
topic. Good morning, today I'm talking to you
• 1:08
about a lucky film of the 80s. There are so many
• 1:11
stories that accompanied the birth and realization
• 1:14
in 1987 of the film Robocop by the director Paul
• 1:18
Verhoeven. As a constituent of 7080 .it we went
• 1:22
to discover some of the most curious. Three police
• 1:26
officers killed, one seriously injured. Who is
• 1:28
in charge is aware that there are some risks
• 1:30
inherent to the work done on the territory. Clarence
• 1:33
Buttiger, chief officer of the crime of the old
• 1:35
Detroit, now investigated in relation to the
• 1:38
death of 31 police officers. Here you earn your
• 1:41
life, Murphy. We are police officers and police
• 1:46
officers do not work. Among the iconic films
• 1:49
of the 80s, the science fiction Robocop was born
• 1:52
from the collaboration between aspiring screenwriters
• 1:54
Eduard Neumeier and Michael Miner, set in the
• 1:57
Detroit of the future but shot in reality in
• 2:00
the suburbs of Dallas, infested by crime. Robocop
• 2:03
tells the story of the company OCP, Omni Consumer
• 2:06
Product, which to defeat the bad life, makes
• 2:09
a robot built on the shoulders of a killed policeman.
• 2:12
The old Detroit is cancer. Cancer is crime. We
• 2:17
believe that an efficient police force is only
• 2:19
part of the solution. We need a 24 -hour police
• 2:23
officer. A policeman who doesn't need to eat
• 2:26
or sleep. Stop! ED -209. the police officer Alex
• 2:59
Murphy, the actor Peter Weller, is killed almost
• 3:01
immediately, just like Marion Crane, the actress
• 3:04
Janet Leight, the protagonist of the film directed
• 3:06
by Alfred Hitchcock. The selections for the protagonist
• 3:08
of Robocop lasted about eight months, among the
• 3:11
exclusive illustrious Rudger Auer and Kit Carradine.
• 3:14
Others refused because, for the most part of
• 3:17
the film, the face would have been hidden. In
• 3:19
the end, Peter Weller chose economic claims,
• 3:22
not excessive. To interpret the role of protagonist
• 3:24
in Robocop, the production also thought of Arnold
• 3:27
Schwarzenegger, in analogy with the character
• 3:29
of Terminator. However, it was noticed that the
• 3:32
Austrian actor with the costume of scene wearing,
• 3:34
because of his physical fitness, reminded too
• 3:37
much of the male of the Mislen playmates. It
• 3:39
makes us smile the fact that the creator of the
• 3:41
costume of Robocop is called Rob Bottin. The
• 3:44
American make -up artist, already famous for
• 3:46
the special effects of the thing, the film of
• 3:48
John Carpenter of 1982, was inspired by the character
• 3:51
of C -3PO of Star Wars, the robot of the film
• 3:54
Metropolis, and the Gort di Ultimatum alla Terra,
• 3:58
il film del 1951. It took six months to make
• 4:21
the Robocop costume, made of tin, aluminum and
• 4:24
polyurethane, while the helmet was made of fiberglass.
• 4:27
Inside, a hook -up allowed the movements during
• 4:30
the action scenes. The costumes were made in
• 4:33
seven, with the weight varying from 11 to 36
• 4:36
kg. Based on the frames, in fact, the protagonist
• 4:38
wore only one part. Weller had a few problems
• 4:42
wearing it, it weighed too much and the helmet
• 4:44
limited visibility. To make the movements fluid,
• 4:47
with the costume worn, Peter Weller... with the
• 4:50
meme Moni -Yakim, then due to a dispute with
• 4:53
the director Paul Verhoeven was fired. At his
• 4:56
place would have had to arrive the actor Lance
• 4:58
Erickson, known for the role of the android Bishop
• 5:01
in Aliens Final Battle of 1986, but since Robocop's
• 5:06
costume was drawn on the figure of Peter Weller,
• 5:09
in the end the production went on to make him
• 5:11
return. Robocop's script was proposed to several
• 5:13
directors, including David Cronenberg, but no
• 5:16
one agreed to direct it. Paul Verhoeven himself
• 5:19
rejected it twice, defining it as shit, but in
• 5:21
the end he was convinced by his wife. Robocop
• 5:24
is a political satire and social denunciation
• 5:26
film. In the 80s, American companies were very
• 5:28
aggressive in the financial sector because of
• 5:31
the growing Japanese influence. Paul Verhoeven
• 5:33
then enriched it with scenes so violent that
• 5:36
it was censored because, in his opinion, they
• 5:38
were funny. You have the right to call a lawyer.
• 5:41
